The Edge Breakfast - OVERTHINKERS stinky evacuations

Episode Date: August 3, 2026

We’re spiraling over a movie theatre being completely evacuated because of a horrific fart, and honestly, we haven’t recovered! Between Dan’s boss-funded fart gun, Clint’s disa...strous TV invention history, and a heated debate on solo baths, you’re so not ready for Dan’s quiet breakdown.

Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. This is the Overthinkers podcast. I'm Clint, this is Dan. Hello. And that's Meg. Hello. We are radio announcers that don't get sick of talking, so we do a podcast. We do indeed.
Starting point is 00:00:15 Oh, I get sick of talking. That's a lie. Do you? Oh, fuck, yes. God, I'm already sick of it. How many of them started the Onlyfans? Wonderful. It's a bad, negative way to start.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Yeah. We were talking on here. You might have not heard our radio show where Clint and I were discussing how Dan has bought something with the boss's credit card that they've gone in trouble for, a fart gun. Yeah, so, well, I don't actually think it is sold as a fart gun. No, that's what I'm saying to Meg. You can use this weapon for good or evil.
Starting point is 00:00:41 I think it's been kidnapped and evil. So I think it was originally, you suck an air in one end, and then you can say Meg, you're over the other side of the room, I suck in some air, I can then shoot that air across and hit your face. So technically, Clint could fart into it, because he can fart on demand. And then you stand up 10 metres or away. and I shoot it at your face and you can smell his fart
Starting point is 00:01:02 and that's why we'll purchase it. Well, that is something that I thought I'd bring up because there has been a new story come out of Columbia which actually I'll let the news read a. A movie theater showing Spider-Man Brand New Day in Cardigan of Columbia evacuated after somebody ripped the most heinous fart. Apparently the odor was so bad, the audience cleared out of the theater.
Starting point is 00:01:26 The whole theater got clear. That's a bit over the top. Yeah, apparently on August 2nd, so what, yesterday, in their time, the Sinney Columbia multiplex, we could call them, inside the plaza, that somebody farted so bad, they had security guards having to usher people. I reckon that's a soiling situation, not a fart. If it smells that bad. Yeah, so it filled the auditorium with such a horrible odour that audience members began to flee their seats
Starting point is 00:01:58 and disgust, and apparently hundreds of film fans were evacuated into the hallway. There is footage of the people that were meant to be at the movie. Just absolutely upset. Now, I blame the media and the writer of that news story for this. Because no one's fleeing, are they? No one's been, like, the news words of like, you flee from a shooter, an active shooter. You evacuate from a flood. You don't flee from a fart.
Starting point is 00:02:23 No, somebody has said, no, they have said, look, it was so bad that there are reports that it was possibly a stink bomb or that somebody didn't make it to the bathroom in time. Did they pause Spider-Man when everyone left? Yeah, I think they've had to do refunds, Clint. Because you'd be like, whoa, whoa, whoa, it's still playing. Like, pause it.
Starting point is 00:02:41 You know, the funny thing for me is there's someone out there in the world where they know that they did the fart and there's this news story and they're just sitting there going. Okay, let me read the quotes that have come from the people that fleed the movie. There's no respect anymore. But I don't think anyone is so rotten as to
Starting point is 00:02:58 evacuate an entire auditorium to ruin a whole cinema like that only God knows what that person ate. I remember I did a TV show years ago called Let's Get Inventing. Kids would come up with a crazy invention and we had a whole lot of engineers behind the scenes. We're really doing a lot of the heavy lifting
Starting point is 00:03:16 but we made it look like through montages. The kid was making it with me. And one of these kids, you know him, Max. He does the Brinkley Show in the Breeze in Toonga and Rotorua. his invention was the smeller vision and it was like you'd go to the movies and then when you would watch something happen on screen that had an odour it would start pumping the odour into the cinema
Starting point is 00:03:39 stupid invention rather than having like 4D so I suppose rather than getting seats are moving or water splashes you in the face but he only did it with smells the problem is because we shot the short film the third smell out of like eight was this like eggy like potent like stink fart right smell or whatever. Once you pump that into the cinema,
Starting point is 00:04:00 we realized it was really hard to get that smell out. And so the fourth, fifth and sixth smell were just this cacophony of smells. All coming together. Why would you choose that as a smell? Sorry, did I miss this? What movie was, it was a moment
Starting point is 00:04:14 that would make sense? We created like a short film that had all these different smells in it. Did somebody have to act as a fart? We should have done the worst smell at the end, but we didn't think about that. And so the cinema was rank. and that's the only time I've had to leave a cinema for stench.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Wow. Yeah, what an interesting... I mean, kids come up with the darndest things, don't they? The worst one was a girl who loved her pet rat and she wanted a bicycle that was powered by rats. You know, rats will run in a wheel, so it had 25 little wheels within one big wheel and that big wheel powered to the bicycle. So then she didn't ride the bike?
Starting point is 00:04:47 She would just sit on it? Lazy. Made these poor little slave rights, slave rats. So she's going mountain biking off a steep hill. Like, peddle your little shit! And all the rats are going for it! Get me up here! Oh my eyes like.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Oh my God. Bloody how, okay. Awful girl. That little girl grew up to be crude in Aladaville. Yeah, what that? Oh, that appears like, that's a great idea. See them into the TV show. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:13 There's some goodies and some stinkers. Hey, I've actually genuinely been pondering a question that I would like to see how many answers the two of you can come up with. Today on the Overthinkers podcast. Things that are more fun to do by yourself. Yes, now me and Clint started having this discussion, Dan, without you. And I listed off two things and he instantly said no. I said a bath and he said no. No.
Starting point is 00:05:39 I agree, a bath. Not more fun by yourself? If my wife goes, we'll have a bath for me? Yes. Well, maybe fun's not the right word. But I would never... I'm too big to have a bath or someone else. No, I just...
Starting point is 00:05:50 Like a spa's different. You're not fucking in a bath. I know, but still. still get naked bodies naked parts touching me You see you're naked all the time I don't know I think if my wife said
Starting point is 00:06:01 Do you want me to leave you alone To have a bathroom your own Or should I get him with you Get him with me God you're a nightmare Okay and then I said reading And he said no No because I actually quite like
Starting point is 00:06:11 When my wife and I are in bed And we're both reading our books With their little lights on And it's like I'm reading mine She's reading hers And we have like a common hobby I think going to the movies Even though
Starting point is 00:06:23 No way Why? It doesn't matter. So boring by yourself. Why? Why? What are you going to do? You don't talk to anyone?
Starting point is 00:06:28 It's not like you're sitting there going Oh, this is a good bit in it. Oh wow. Otherwise get out. I don't care who I'm sitting next to at the movies. After it, fine, you can meet someone and go out for dinner. But the act of sitting and watching a fucking movie, I don't care who's there. No, even like yesterday, my wife and I were watching a movie on the couch.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Should we watch a movie after dinner? I was like, yeah, nice. 40 minutes in, she's up dying her here because she realized she needs to do it. Nightmare. And she's doing it. And I was like, babe, we were supposed to be watching this together. My mum's like that. She likes to watch her together.
Starting point is 00:06:54 She gets upset when she sees that her husband or my stepdad goes on his phone or a laptop. And it's like, well, now I'm doing it by myself. If my wife in this situation, she's trying on outfits and she's dying her hair. And now I feel lazy because I'm just sitting on the couch watching a movie by myself. So again, personally, I don't think that's more fun. I can't find anything that is more fun to do by myself. Driving. I quite like being in the car by myself, got my own music.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Exercising. I hate exercising with other people. Oh, good one. Nightwear. Nightmare. Yeah. But then you've got someone to do. talk to her between sex.
Starting point is 00:07:23 No, you don't want to talk. Running. Running. Yeah. I hate running with someone else because you have to, like, everybody's different. And so I hate running with someone else. I don't run, so I guess I haven't really had a lot of experience and whether that's better by myself or someone else.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I think I need more time to think, but there's so many things. Like doing study. I used to hate studying with other people when I was at university. I even think crafts, like, to a point, if sometimes it's nice to just sit and paint, or I know you don't do crafts, or do them by yourself rather than somebody else there and then comparing yours to theirs. But I don't think we should judge, Clint, I'm just more content in my own.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Maybe you've got a little deep-seated thing where you can't be alone, which is fine. But I don't... I can. I just don't think it's ever as fun as if I'm with somebody else. It's because, Clint, you don't have internal monologue. So we all sit with our own thoughts and have many a conversation inside.
Starting point is 00:08:16 I hear I go through. Honestly, I don't even know where I end up. I could end up anywhere in my... own head and my own space, but you need to verbalise things to think them. And if somebody's not there for you to do that with, it's just blank. I was thinking to this my other day. Yeah. I mean, that's true.
Starting point is 00:08:33 But I was thinking this the other day, and I was by myself when I was thinking it, which is fucking rare. I yearn. Oh, deeply I yearn for just alone time at the moment. Like, I'm just constantly, do this, do this. In this job, you're just constantly on. You're on, on, on, on. Then you go home.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I'm looking after my kid. then Hannah gets home We're fucking talking And fine, I love it 90% of the time But God, I'd just love to Just sit by myself for fucking three hours And just relax And you just don't get that in adulthood
Starting point is 00:09:03 Don't do that I agree with you Dan I've said to guy multiple times What I would do to just be in a hotel room With air conditioning right now by myself in the quiet Yeah, and just sit there and watch a movie by myself Wanky Mate, I don't have fucking time I'm like if I could I would
Starting point is 00:09:18 Don't have the energy to do that Like right now I need to go to pick up my son, I'll go home, he'll go down to sleep, then I'll do my prep for tomorrow, right, think about the show, then Hannah gets home, having to talk to fucking her. And then we go to bed, and then we might have sex if I'm lucky.
Starting point is 00:09:35 But still, I'm still having to converse. And the only time, the only time I have a little bit of alone time to myself now is just the minutes before you go to sleep, because Hannah's reading, and I'm just sitting there like, which is so funny because we are looking to go Fiji as a team for Long Disty Esty Island and I'm so looking forward to
Starting point is 00:09:55 having a room by myself because I've asked them I'll pay for an upgrade or whatever but Dan's gonna be stuck with Clint so like, fuck not then no you don't even get away you get away from the family and you're stuck with him I know it's just endless
Starting point is 00:10:07 and I like I am one of those people that likes alone time like I like to just not like to have three hours a day or four hours a day where I can do something for myself and I just can't do that anymore I struggle with that well it gets worse as your kids get older because then they start doing like sports trainings.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I've got to run my daughter's like football training this afternoon and then going out to the Pye Awards, which I've never been before. Everyone said how amazing it is. So now I'm going and now none of you are going. Yeah. But that's the thing that I then, that's what affects me then because then when I get alone time, I go, oh, I should be socialising. So that's why I wish I was more like Clint.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Because when I get a free day, I go, I'm not doing anything. When I should be probably seeing my friends and all that. all this sort of shit. But then I'm like, I just don't want to. I just want to fucking sit at home and do nothing. Oh my God, that's so rare. Is it us? Maybe we just burnt out because when I get the small amount of time to do my own thing,
Starting point is 00:11:00 I will spend it alone and I'll go, fuck, I could have seen a friend. What a lonely, pathetic, anti-social woman you want. Oh, no, that's the difference between you and I don't have that. I'll have an alone day and I'll be like, oh, that was the best. Give me more. You'll love it. You'll love it. Speaking of Long Distance Bestie Island as well, we've been talking about it on here.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I haven't really talked about a lot on this podcast. We'll leave in on a little secret. There's only like, well, we said five packages remaining, but we were talking about that on here today, and we got quite a few texts. So we would love to have OG, like, proper podcast listeners come to Fiji with us in October. Of course, if you're overseas.
Starting point is 00:11:33 Yeah. So if you're, I mean, and your best here, I know there's packages from Australia and from New Zealand. If you can get to one of those ports, then you can buy the package, which is about three packets. Yeah, and yeah, $2,900, flights, accommodation, food, drinks, travel. Come hang with us.
Starting point is 00:11:48 in Fiji in October. Share a room with Clinton and I. Fuck, we may as well. I think Carl's going to bunk. Oh, is he? Jesus Christ. If you can, you text Bestie to 33443 and get registered and then get that deposit paid ASAP.
Starting point is 00:12:01 That'll lock in your spot so that your package is now being taken off the table when nobody else can buy it. Produce Carl? Who am I rooming with? You're roaming with car... You're top and tan with me. Yeah, Dan and Dan and Clint.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Dan, I'm going to wear you like a puppet. This is going to be awesome. Oh, sauna. maybe that's something that's more fun to do by yourself. I always think sitting next to a guy I don't know where he's sweating and breathing loudly is not fun. There you go, you found one thing. I kind of like the idea of in a sauna with my wife.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Oh, yeah, true. Actually, no, with my wife. No, okay, I'm back to zero. I can't think of a single thing. Anyway. Overnkers.
