This is a podcast from Rover.
Is the Overtinkist podcast.
Oh my gosh.
So I'm still here, Cal.
Clint's always saying, but, Meg, you're back.
Hi.
Yeah, I'm here.
Welcome back.
I've just had five donuts.
I actually think it's been more than that.
Is it?
No, I was five.
It's a little mini one.
They're just not big ones.
They're just small ones.
And I feel, you know, when you're in the midst of eating something,
I get it quite often with KFC.
I get KFC.
Oh, it's good when you're eating it.
and then instantly after it, you're like, you fat, fucking prick.
But I feel like life is all about treating yourself.
You know, you're going to make yourself feel good in those moments,
and then just ignore the fact that you feel like you have to be.
Is it treating yourself if it's worth of a week?
Dude, I treat myself every day.
I'm not even kidding.
As you should, well, life is life.
Exactly.
And you never know when your last day is going to be, you know?
Like, imagine if you didn't treat yourself on your last day on earth.
So you have to treat yourself every day, if not every hour.
Tell my wife that, because I treat my son George to a toy.
I try to get him something like every week, and she's like,
he will not not appreciate them if you're getting toys every week.
Damn, we're the same.
I said to my husband just yesterday,
I love spoiling my kid.
I love like she read a book and she really liked the book.
And so literally that night I was looking at what's the next in the series
and I wanted to get it for her.
And I was like, do I have to wait until her a birthday?
Can I just buy her another book?
I'm the parent.
I get to make these decisions.
But what is spoiling and what is, I don't know.
How are you guys brought up with that?
Because I guess you kind of use, I'm trying to think if I don't know if I was,
no, I was definitely a spoiled.
kid but I think it's also that thing where it's like do you do you guys as parents have to think okay
well how is this going to like you know train their brain chemistry to consistently expect reward
exactly so I I ended up getting the book it was $15 and I got it the book and then I was
fighting between hi I got you this book because you did this really well yeah yeah yeah and then also
hi I just got you this book because I was thinking of you and we had a great time reading it together
And I actually went with that one because I feel like if I give her things,
I've been doing a lot of like, you did this while you get this.
And I'm like, actually, I can also just say,
hey, we had a great experience reading that book.
Let's read this together and share more joy.
I feel like a lot of the time it's like almost like training, like a dog with biscuits.
So I was like, actually, I'm just going to let you know that.
I got this book.
I saw it.
I thought of you.
Let's read this one.
One thing they don't tell you about parenting, speaking of books,
is when you get a child and they start getting into reading
and I read a book every night to my son George.
He's obsessed.
Like, he gets in stages where he'll just be obsessed with one book for like three weeks.
Yeah, yeah, they do that.
And you just read it every night.
And it's the most boring shit.
Because he'll be like, Cars, Lightning McQueen book.
And so we've got him with this book.
And it's like based on the movie.
So I've already seen the movie.
He's seen the movie about 47 million times.
And so he knows the storyline front to back.
And this is a book based on the movie.
So it's the same storyline.
And so I end up every.
night for about 30 minutes before he goes to bed reading cars to the point where it's just,
I'm just sick of lightning and Queen and Maida.
But do you think if you get him a new book, he'll move it to something.
Like, get him up up, get him an Avengers book.
Move him onto that.
Yeah, I remember the stage you're in Dan because I remember Guy being very much like,
can't we read this one tonight?
And it was like, no, I want this one.
They get so transfixed on time, which is really good.
Apparently it's a really good sign because it's about muscle memory.
it gives them comfort because they know the ending.
We got them, one of our PC gone mad friends.
You know, one of those people that's like all newfangled.
Like, they got us one of those books, little people big thing.
Like big.
It's called, there's like a series of them and they're called Little People.
Oh, Mr. Bossy and stuff?
No?
No.
And it's like about a whole load of people from history.
There's like out and John, Bob Dylan.
And they got us a Rosa Parks one, which was that lady that sat on the bus.
I got a thought of her, actually.
And fuck, I'm sick of hearing about her.
Because I read it.
He'd gone.
to a Rosa Parks like thing where every night for three weeks I was reading to him about Rosa
Parks and all the good shit she did to the point where I'm just honestly where she was I was just
like if I hear anything more about fucking Rosa Parks do you want to know a fun fact about Rosa
Park you know her husband had a car and then an argument that morning and she said okay well I'm
not coming to work with you then and then got on a bus and got home and started because that wasn't
in the book yeah it's a children's fucking book no but it was quite a depth hang on let me look it up
Honestly, I was kind of pissed off when you brought up Rosa Parks because I knew that
meant Carl will bring up his fun fact.
You looked at me as soon as it came up in topic.
Have you heard about Rosa Parks fact that you give to a lot of people?
Because she was.
I'm sick about hearing about her, but she was an incredible person.
She did a lot for black rights over in America.
Starting with the fact that when she was back in the day, you weren't as a black person
now to sit at the front of the bus.
And she decided, you know what, I'm going to sit there.
she did and she started this big
movement. Good honour. Yeah, her husband
Raymond Parks. Imagine that. So he had a car
which was rare back in those days.
Imagine that you get an argument with your wife
and she comes home. A
civil rights actor is like,
icon. Well I don't think it was
overnight. I don't think it was like she was instantly
Oh no, she was probably
in fact she was frowned upon him bro. I was like, what are you
doing? You can't do that. Yeah and he
would have been like, told you she's stubborn.
Yeah. Yeah. He would be like come on
Rosa. This wouldn't have happened if
you'd come in the Nissan Sunny with me.
Yep, yeah.
All right, we're doing some mail bag.
Let's see if anybody has ridden to us
over our holiday break down.
Mail time.
There's something here for that, isn't it?
Yeah, there should be a male.
Not that.
I'm just not really looking at the screen.
Here we go.
You got mail.
And there's nothing.
We'll move on.
This is pathetic.
Honestly, come on.
What?
People.
It's two-pronged.
This is a two-prong.
Why is it on me?
You said Meg check the mail bag?
Check before you do the intro.
Oh yeah, that's fair.
You never saw a Blue's Clues guy going,
there's mail.
Here's the mail.
It never fails.
And he goes,
oh, there's no fucking mail.
Why did Blue always get mail?
You could make one up.
What is mail time?
I don't know this as a...
We're not doing a podcast where Meg goes,
I've made up some mail.
We do some made up mail.
That is so pathetic.
We've been away for how long?
Nearly three...
You've been away nearly three weeks.
Bullshit, Dan.
We got a week off.
It's two weeks.
And...
It's a week.
off and I had two sick days.
It was weak.
No, you've been away for two weeks
because we went away on Thursday.
No, Thursday we were.
No, you were to wait one week off.
Okay, so a week in a bit.
Yeah.
So nearly two weeks.
But not two weeks.
No, but not quite.
So two weeks pretty much.
More two weeks than one.
Clint's had three.
Yeah.
Glitz had three weeks.
And we still haven't got any mail in that time.
We've got no mail.
Isn't that pathetic?
Isn't that a shame?
Oh.
Or do you write back to them?
I do sometimes.
No, you don't.
I do.
I say thanks for a.
Chad, Dad.
I don't.
I do.
All right.
For that, I'm opening up all the sweet treats.
Oh, no.
Vex been delivered a whole box of, like, sugary, delicious treats from this company.
I don't even know what it's called.
Child, these are gluten-free.
It's dairy.
And I have already had five donuts, as I said before.
And then, why do they send you this stuff?
You know what?
When I first got into radio, someone said to me, be careful.
Because the one thing that will happen when you're in radio is you get...
fat.
Yes, so much free food.
You just get so much free stuff sent to you.
And I didn't believe them.
And now I sort of do.
God, look at you complaining about free stuff then.
Yeah, but send healthy stuff.
Nah, no one's fucking eating a free carrot, you know?
No, not a carrot.
But I mean, like, healthy stuff.
Like what?
Send me a pokey bowl or...
I love a pokey ball.
I had a pokey ball.
No, I had a Don...
Oh, Donbury?
Yeah, went out with my dad for lunch.
I do like a pokey bowl.
I hit him up and I.
I was like, hey, I'm going to be finishing early today.
Can we go out for lunch, your shout?
Meg, the thing, she's just opened three things.
One looks like a caramel slice, the other one looks like a ginger crunch,
and the other one's a cake.
I reckon that is diabetes waiting to happen.
Right in front of you, right in front of your eyes.
What do you want to try first?
I don't want to try anything.
Give me the chocolate.
Yeah.
Oh my God, like it's a full, like birthday cake.
Yeah, it's their birthday.
This is cat.
Is there anything better in this world than like a soft caramel.
A caramel size of that.
Caramel size.
Oh, fuck
Oh, yuck
This one's Benofi
Do you like Benofi?
It's Benofi pie
It's my Kerry a nightly
It's my terrible
Taste and pie
Oh, let's finish this off
I thought you were doing Michael Gail
I don't want to let's not do the podcast
I'll just finish this off
Go ahead
Have another pie
Feels very intimate
No I'm not
I'm saying fuck because I regret
Every instant bite
We seem to love it
doesn't he seems to be loving it
No I hate it actually
Yeah
I'm taking a stand
I'm taking a strong stand
I'm not eating chocolate
Okay
Right go on the office
Okay
Let's have it said here on the podcast
I'm drawing a line in the sand
And you can hold me to account
Anyone that's listening
You Meg, Cal
Clint if he's listening
Producer Brady
Hold me to account
Boss
Jack has his name
Oh my God
You've had quite a few boss
Last few bucks
Right, is it chocolate or sugar?
What are you giving up?
I'm saying it now.
From now on, I'm not eating sugar.
Sugar?
Fuck, that's a big call.
I'm giving it up.
Sugar's done.
If you see me eating sugar me,
you can give me a kick up the round ass kick to the back of the head or up the ass.
Okay.
The boss has someone to say to you.
Bullshit.
That's also bullshit, Dan.
And we don't want to deal with you being off sugar.
I know, we don't like that.
We don't like that.
You think I'll be better.
You're not better.
You've done this before and it was fucking hell for me and Clint.
No, okay.
You can ask it.
Okay, well give me other stuff to do that will replace sugar.
Like, be funny for once, Clint.
I'm going to call Clint.
Oh, God, he's...
We need to actually find out.
Can you actually ask him if he's coming back to ours in?
Yeah, I'm going to call him.
Yeah, I'll do that.
No problem.
Me call him.
I know his number all for a lot of days.
No, 2-1.
No, you don't.
You can't say it anyway.
There we go.
It's 027.
Okay.
027, 342, 9-6-5.
Is it just me when you hear someone with an O27, I think they're a boomer?
Yes.
Because it used to be telecom.
And I'm like, ooh, old person with the O2.7.
Really?
And reason for calling.
I'll see if this person is available.
Oh, he's got that thing.
Oh, my God.
Hello.
It's your best friends.
The IRD.
Pick up.
I need to tell you something about Dan.
I don't think you say that.
It just says.
I need to tell you something about Dan.
No, like, writes a little thing.
I need to tell you something about Dan, so just pick up the phone.
Thanks.
Please stay on the line.
Now he's going, oh, do I want to hear something about Dan?
Yeah.
He's going to pick up, what?
I know in Clinty or one no, but if he doesn't answer, it's because he's asleep.
He might be asleep.
Oh, yeah.
No, but it would have.
Six minutes until we've got an interview, Dan, as well, so let's see if this works.
It wouldn't have picked up.
Like, if he had it on, do not disturb because he's having a slate.
I'm sorry, this person is not available.
It's not.
What are you?
What do you mean?
It's nearly 10 o'clock. You're obviously still not asleep.
Pick up your phone.
Oh, me.
Right, I've hung up at him.
Okay.
All right.
Anyway, that's your podcast.
Yeah, well, I'm not having sugar.
And honestly, if you hear of me, if you see me out in public and I'm a drowned down on a muffin or something,
you come up to me and kick me up the ass.
You have one last bite before you lock in.
No, that's it.
I'm done.
I am done.
I'm sick of people's calling me fat.
No one has
You are always doing it
Me?
Oh, that is a lie
Do not believe him.
She comes in and goes
Oh, there's fatty again
Fatty again
Oh fuck I like people
When people wouldn't believe that anyway
And she goes boom
Boom boom boom
Boom when I walk
Don do
Don't do
Don't do
Don't do
That's what you do when you walk in
Dan
Because you're fat
Oh my god terrible
