Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. What you're hearing right now is Meg and Dan watching a video of themselves cracking each other up. I wasn't laughing at all. I didn't laugh the whole time. Were you watching Meg's parts or your parts? Both and neither one of them made me laugh. Fuck, welcome to my life. This is the Overthinkers podcast. Welcome, Glenn.
Starting point is 00:00:27 That's nice. Were you guys just saying about how neither of you find me funny? No, I was saying that I, um, oh, I can't. of you, I guess. No, he was saying you didn't find himself or you're funny. Yeah, no, you're right, Meg. Yeah, good, good, good, good. No, I think if anybody cracks me up more
Starting point is 00:00:40 on the show, it's you meg. And I'll tell you why. Because some of the things you say, oh my goodness, me. Do you think it's the things that I mean to say that I think of... Absolutely not, of course not. Yeah, you're laughing with or at? I would say if it was a ratio,
Starting point is 00:00:55 I'd say 40% of the time I'm laughing with her, 60% I'm laughing at her. No, that's not true. Yeah, it's probably more than that. 70 30. No. But the thing is, does it matter? People are laughing either.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Still laughing. Still finding funny. No, because the difference is they think if you're laughing at me, you almost think you're funnier and I'm just like a victim. But if people think I'm funny because they're like, damn, I love being around Meg. She makes me laugh. Then that's different.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Yeah, but you're still, if you're making a fool of yourself, I'm still laughing going, man, it's so funny. Every time I hang out with Meg, I crack up. Even if it's at you. But you would never say Meg's so funny. Would you? Yeah, I think, if I'm laughing at you, you're still, I'm still thinking it's funny.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Also, just because you're not intentionally being funny, doesn't mean you're not funny. The best way to get Meg after she's done something funny is to say, good from you. Oh yeah, and she goes, what do you mean from me? But you mean I'm not funny usually. She storms out of the bar.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Oh, piss off. Oh my God. I don't storm out anywhere, but I do hate it when people say good from you as if they don't expect me to be funny. I don't think you've ever stormed off. No, I haven't. Not a storm offer. No, thank you for that. It's one of my proudest things in this job that I've never stormed off and done a walkout.
Starting point is 00:02:07 I've worked with people before that have stormed off. Oh, yes. I've had a couple of storm offices. Some people are notorious for storming off. I used to work with a lady at Westpac. I won't name her, but she stormed off from me once because I told her that her till was out. And I said something along the lines of again this week or something because her till was out. And she stormed off and cried.
Starting point is 00:02:26 And I had taken into the boss at the manager's office and saying you can't say that. Dan stormed out. Actually, almost a year ago today when I beat him in a quiz game He got all sad, didn't he? Oh, that was for April Fool's. Oh, that's right. That got me so good.
Starting point is 00:02:40 You nearly cried. Do you know, I actually am really embarrassed about how I reacted than that. I was very weak, and I should have told you both to shut the fuck up and pull your heads in and to get over yourselves. And I just sat there like,
Starting point is 00:02:52 oh, boys, Winnie, oh, please. Shut the fuck up me. I'm honestly, I hate that video of me. And then, and then... You were just trying to keep the peace. Oh, yeah, but I should. should have been much stronger. But you'd also be hurt
Starting point is 00:03:03 by seeing your two friends fight because that's never fun. And then when Dan came back in came back in, I said, oh look, crybaby's back. Yeah. Me goes A. Yay.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Hey, hey. Listen to my scandal, boys. Oh, my God, so weak. Listen to my scandal. And you know what? The funny thing is, Clint, this is funny. This is a little peep behind the curtain. We're both acting, obviously,
Starting point is 00:03:23 because we're trying to wind Meg up. But when Clint says, oh, crybaby's back, a little bit inside me was like, fucky. Yeah, I was giving you something. I know, I know, but that literally was like, you little shit. I was why they looked like the asshole, because I was not only mean to Dan,
Starting point is 00:03:40 made him walk out, then I was mean to him when he came back. So, if anyone, I looked like the shit. Yeah, both of you were very, very, very convincing and good in that. So good, and I hated every second. And if I were to happen again, which hopefully I wouldn't happen because I'd know it's a prank, I would like to think that now I'd be much stronger. I think the second baby has made me much stronger.
Starting point is 00:04:00 And it was one of those ones where people were saying April Falls, April Falls. And me goes, no, I'm a people texting in, I don't think it is. This is the real. And then we're saying, and she goes, and we're like, yeah, it is April Falls. That's the only way the show became, would become fun again in a moment like that. I know. Yeah, it actually was real, but I just took the April Falls card just to ease attention. You can almost, actually, speaking of that, I suppose, you can almost get away, I reckon,
Starting point is 00:04:23 we should maybe put this in the show, with like doing something a bit outrageous, saying something a bit outrageous, shooting your shoes. shooting your shot with like a friend, being like, I'm actually madly in love with you. And you might be. And then when they go, oh my God, where is this coming from? You go, April Falls.
Starting point is 00:04:39 It's so mean. But if she doesn't and she goes, oh my God, I have feelings for you as well. Fuck, shut up about April Falls and live your life. There's not many days of the year where you have a backstop. Excuse. Oh, my God. It's so mean, though.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Okay, try it on me, Dan. Okay, so you have to imagine that you... That you're into me. So you're going to tell me that you're in love with me. Yeah. Meag, I've got something to tell you. Yeah, what's that? I don't know how you're going to take this
Starting point is 00:05:04 because it's probably going to be a little bit out of the blue for you, but I've been in love with you for three years. What? I love you. Are you joking? Please leave Guy. Is this a weird joke? I am infatuated with you.
Starting point is 00:05:16 I love you. I think you're one of the most beautiful people I've ever met. Your personality is just stunning. And I think that I can see us together, making love, making children. I know you've got two kids, but I genuinely think we can have. Put another one in a lot. Sorry, I'm just as mate, but I'm... Sorry. Who the fuck are you?
Starting point is 00:05:32 Sorry. Why is he here? I told you to... Have you been serious? Dad, I... I respect Hannah and I see you as a friend. I'm sorry. She's dead.
Starting point is 00:05:42 To me, to me. To me. Sorry, to me. She's... We're broken up. I just don't see you that way, mate. I'm sorry. Abort.
Starting point is 00:05:52 April Fool. Yeah. You did be... April Falls! Oh, thank you. We got you, dumb stupid old. We got you. Sorry, I do much hype.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Stupid ugly bitch, I'll never fucking think that about you. I actually propose me, you ugly fucking... I'm just a disgusting cow. She thought I was into her. Yuck, this fucking older. Is it my mate Dan and Tim? Would be into you a three? In the hypothetical scenario.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Why are you here still? What are you doing? I mean, obviously you don't do it exactly like that, but you know what I mean? Yeah, I know what you mean. But I feel like I would get so deep into it if I was really truly in love with someone. And they said, I'm not into you. I'd cry. Should be called the Shoot your shot day.
Starting point is 00:06:43 April 1st. Put it in the sheet. Shoot your shot day. Is there anybody that would want to try it tomorrow's podcast? Yeah, let us know. Oh, actually, I have to check our mail. I haven't checked our mail in a wee while. First off, though, country eliminated.
Starting point is 00:06:54 If you're from Italy, you were out of the competition. Sorry about that. You got mail. Okay, who has been messaging us on our Overthinkers podcast Feedpack page? Oh, Jacob wants the producers to be more involved in the podcast. Oh, I'm sorry I'd be. Thank you for that, Jacob, is your feedback this morning. We have one from Casper.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Oh, the friendly ghost. Hi, Jacob. Hey, team, I've been listening to the show since I lived in the Mount with my also Swedish girlfriend in 2017 to me. at 2018. We are now back home in Sweden. I remember your first show, Meg, and when Jay and Dom
Starting point is 00:07:38 was still on. So Casper is living in Sweden and officially, I think Sweden's, no, Sweden's out of the competition. So he does not get to it. Sweden, I've always loved the idea of living in Sweden. Apparently it's very idyllic there. Obviously you have to put up with a cold for a lot
Starting point is 00:07:54 of the year. But it is, like, you always hear stuff about it's a really good place to live, eh, Sweden. I think Finland, a lot of those places in Scandinavia. Switzerland as well. I think they get like a, like dads get like a year off for paternity when their wife has a baby. I'm like, what the hell?
Starting point is 00:08:09 Switzerland's nice, but I think it's very expensive to live there. Very expensive because they... Everything's Swiss made. It's expensive shit. I have a great bit of mail. Oh, okay. Okay. I'm going to bleep out the person's name.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Okay. You got mail. Hey Megan Dan and Clint for formalities when you log in half tipsy in two months. It's time because you never check anything online, so they know it's quite well. I've got 15 minute max screen time on Instagram now. That's ridiculous, by the way. Just listening to today's podcast about how people can't stay in certain New Zealand celebrities.
Starting point is 00:08:45 I used to work at a call center for a power company, taking inbound calls for all sorts of stuff. Now, in her defense, no one ever calls a power company to say, thank you so much for my power bill. You've made my day. True, yeah. But I took a call from Blank. and she absolutely shattered my dreams of what she would be like. I know it wasn't my fault. It was a shit power bill, lo, but it's still been 12 years and I'm not over it.
Starting point is 00:09:13 So who would it be, the she on the show? No, no, no, no, not us, but somebody, it's a New Zealand celebrity. Musician? Oh, so not us. Not us. Okay, let's get three questions. Is it a musician? No.
Starting point is 00:09:25 A New Zealand celebrity that this person would thought would be really nice. Said female, right? female. But she was a horrible person to... Oh, on the phone. About a power bill. Actress. I understand.
Starting point is 00:09:35 No. I understand that... So it would be someone that's like not super rich if they're disputing a power bill. Because if you get a power bill... Politician, maybe? Yeah, super wealthy. Well, if it's not an actress or a singer, and they're well-known.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Are they, and are they a politician of sorts? No. Okay, well, we've only got one more question. Oh, let's not... Let's get away with this. I said only three, so we've got one more. Mm-hmm. So two more then, Clint.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Do more. No, are you guys going to make a guess? And I'll either... No, I don't just play the game. I think I'm ruining the fun. You know you fucking fun, killer? Guys! I told you you shouldn't have told her you loved it.
Starting point is 00:10:15 No, it's not oxygen. Right. Okay, so she's not a musician, not an actress. Is she a radio person? Someone from the radio or media, like radio industry. No, not somebody from radio. But I must say this person has kind of dabbled in all of these things, but not politics. Do one of the three of us know her well enough that we would stop in the supermarket aisle and go, hey, how's it going?
Starting point is 00:10:42 Yes, I think so enough so only because of our jobs. But I don't know if she would know our names. Has she got a image within society of being like a really nice person? Susie Kato. Oh, Susie! Susie Kato Okay, if you're not from New Zealand She's like
Starting point is 00:11:02 She was like if the wiggles We're just one Super Bowl combined And every kid grew up to watching her And what this person has messaged it And this I remember why we were talking about this Because I remember the reason is Because we got a text in To the station saying
Starting point is 00:11:17 That I'm clearly kind of a terrible mum Because I ignore my baby and my husband Because they judged me on a few seconds Of walking past me in a cafe So what this person is saying is that like she got, she was working for a power bill company and Susie must have been got a
Starting point is 00:11:33 fucking mental power bill and rang up and got angry about it and fair enough. But now she's got this story and it's so shit for Susie that Susie can't just be a, you know, human being that's upset about anything. But she understands, but wow, what a moment to shadow her childhood dreams.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Yeah, she wouldn't have been like, Kiyoda, Telofa. And they're like, I always, if there's any dispute or anything like that, I get Hannah to do it. Only because the chances of them knowing who I am are very slim. But it would be just my luck. So I'd get the wrong call-centre person.
Starting point is 00:12:05 I'm going, where the fuck did this bill come from? And they go, he was rude to me. I'm like, you know, I'll get cancelled. But the problem is, when I see red, I see red and I can't think like that. And then afterwards I go, oh, fuck, I shouldn't have reacted. No, I don't. I stay clear of any confrontation because I do love confrontation. It's one of my favourite things.
Starting point is 00:12:24 I'm bad at it. So I thought that was a brilliant message. Thank you so much for that. Are you from Split-Eans? Sorry, I had a gag, but I couldn't work out who the band was. The sees red. You said, I see red. It was like 40 seconds through Lakeland.
Starting point is 00:12:39 You said I see Red, I see Red, I see Red. And also such an old gag. Anyway, should we move on? And if you're not from New Zealand, you don't know who they are. Because all these people where you're pulling out of this jar me, I keep thinking, people like Susie Kato and Splittance. People don't know who that is. Yeah, I don't know who that is.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Yeah, no. But I'll just give you a little tiny... Anyway, it was a crack-up gag in my head. Just sucked a bit out loud. Before we move on to the question, because I'd imagine Meg, you've got a question for today's podcast. And I just wanted to address something that I think, as New Zealanders, we do in this country, and it's such a dropped ball,
Starting point is 00:13:16 and I think it is one of the most annoying things we do is Kiwis. And I've been to a lot of places around the world, and it doesn't seem to happen overseas. when you get on an escalator Now I'm talking the moving floor That goes up Okay Yeah like the steps
Starting point is 00:13:31 You see them in malls You see them at airports You see them everywhere You can still move on them No, it's my break Yeah No It means I can get to where I'm going fast
Starting point is 00:13:42 My break So no way I've been all over the world Everybody moves on an escalator Except in New Zealand It's like this thing As soon as you stand on an escalator You go hung
Starting point is 00:13:51 And completely turn off So not only is your body turned off, but mentally as well, I was standing behind a lady yesterday. And she just, she was a sprightly woman. She was probably in her 50s, but she was moving around. She had active wear on. I looked like she'd just been to the gym. She gets straight onto the escalator that goes up to the car park and she's just, whom! Yeah, because it's like 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Right in the middle. Oh, the middle sucks. No, in Asia, when I was in Japan, if you want to stop on it, you stay to the left. And everyone who wants to move all moves on the right-hand side. So it's like, it's up to you. They get the best of both worlds, but everyone has to commit to that. Stay sure left, moving on the right. Clint, it's like that everywhere. Europe, America, everywhere.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Everybody does that. Stick to the left, you want moving. In New Zealand, they all just, like that, Carl. I'm totally with you, Dan. But just a little side note, one of the funnest things you can do in an escalator is when you get about a third of the way up,
Starting point is 00:14:39 fart, because everyone behind you has to go through it and they can't escape. It's not like they can go back down. Yeah, that's true. I've never thought of that. God, you don't give Clint any ideas. Please. Today on the Overtinkers podcast.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Actually, you're just saying fart Makes me on a fart now Don't. It's not even Friday In fact we don't have Guess the fart this week There's no guess the fart this week That's sad
Starting point is 00:15:01 All right Would you rather Every lie you tell Now triggers a loud buzzer Anytime you lie No matter what you do It's unfortunate Very inconvenient
Starting point is 00:15:12 I don't lie Or would you rather be told PAM Yeah good Good good good Good good Yeah so loud buzzer Every time you tell a lot
Starting point is 00:15:22 or would you rather be told your biggest opportunity that you missed? I would like to know the biggest opportunity I missed, an easy one. Because then you can't help it. And I'd go, oh, fuck, really? I missed that. Oh, well. I think that would eat Clint up if I know Clint. I feel like you'd be like, you'd be hopping around. You'd be tapping your fingers on the desk.
Starting point is 00:15:43 You'd be like, if I'd buy my nails already, I've thought of it. Could I just message them now, even though I nearly got that TV show in Australia. And that were two seconds. It shows you what your life would have been. if you'd open the left door and not the right. But you know what? Life is made up of missed opportunities. Yeah, true.
Starting point is 00:15:57 I think like we've all, everybody has missed an opportunity in their lifetime. Let's say it shows you Meg, this like new lifestyle that you live. It's in a different country. It's in this like beautiful spot. And you're like, wow. What you don't see in that is that maybe your marriage didn't survive the opportunity
Starting point is 00:16:12 because you got so big and you change as a person. But it's not going to show you all this. It's not going to show you how your life when it's only going to tell you. When we see the life, we're only going to see the glitz and the glitz. and maybe we don't see the relationship that is being sacrificed with our partners, our kids, whatever, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Could be the case, or you could have thrived, Clint. You could have fucking thrived. What if it just shows me the life I'm living now? Bigger, fancier house. It doesn't show you anything. I miss nothing. Oh, yeah. I mean, well, no, there's definitely an opportunity that you didn't know about that you could have missed. And also, like...
Starting point is 00:16:43 Because it's not your fault. It's not that you could have said something. It could have been like they were literally thinking about you to host the fucking bachelor USA. Who knows? Like Matt Damon already knows. what his one was. Yes, yes, the marshal. When he asked to be an avatar and they were going to give him a percentage of the
Starting point is 00:16:58 revenue. So he would have made him one of the richest actors of all time. Yeah, true. And he said, nah, it sounds stupid, like blue people running around in some fake world. But then how would have that affected his career ongoing? Because look at the actors that are in that now. Where are they? Sam Worthington.
Starting point is 00:17:15 I guess it would just be one of those things that probably would have been your last role if you didn't want to act anyone. I'm sure Matt Damon does want to. You would have made so much money off the back of avatar, one of the highest grossing films of all time, and you've got a percentage of the revenue, that you wouldn't have had to do anything else, whereas Sam Worthington, I think he does have to keep doing shit.
Starting point is 00:17:33 He just would have got paid a salary. I think I'd choose the lie, because... Really? You're a pathological liar, though. You'd have to get better at it. Yes, and that's what I think. I'd just get to the point of being like, well, just might as well tell the truth.
Starting point is 00:17:46 I'm about to be caught out anyway. It'd probably, like, be very good for me to just... Okay, let's practice. Let's practice. Okay. What is The most unattractive quality of Dan Both, it could be physical or mental
Starting point is 00:18:03 She's already thinking of lying It's digging before she's open her mouth His nose No, this is not the thing where a buzzer warned you not to lie It happens after you've lied Right I've got a thick skin That could be one of his thing's
Starting point is 00:18:19 Most unattractive quality of Dan Unintractive quality of Dan I'm trying to think of it It's hard. She has to choose one. Ding, ding, ding. No, it's hard to come up here. I'm just thinking what,
Starting point is 00:18:37 unantrative quality. Do you know, okay. Oh, I'm so great. It's how mean you are to your body. You're so fucking hard. Well, I think that's absolutely my real answer. If I'm being really uncomfortable about it, I think it is unattractive when you're really mean about your body
Starting point is 00:18:56 when I think you've got a great figure and you go, oh, fucking piece of shit that I am and I don't think it's very attractive when you do it. That's how you get better at line. That's maybe feel even worse about myself. Oh, fuck! That's how you get good at lying. You'd be very clever.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Okay, my turn. I'm really good at it. Okay, my turn. You're okay, Dan. Okay. What do you mean your turn? What annoys you the most about working with Clint? That he takes so fucking long to do anything. Like, if we're in a hurry,
Starting point is 00:19:24 it's like he has a switch inside. this body that goes, I'll take longer just to piss them off. It's so true. Clint, why do you do that? It's like you're literally. It's like even after a football game, no, I'll be like, there are, let's say there are like 16, 17 guys. We've all played football, right?
Starting point is 00:19:41 And I'll hit the showers, like I'll strip off and hit the showers. Like somewhere in the front or middle of the pack, I'm always the last to leave the sheds. Always. But what if somebody says, can we hurry up? And then you go, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm coming. He's always dropping the soap, hey, that's what you're going to go? I was going out again.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Maybe it's one of those things where, because my wife, even yesterday, she was going to go put the bag of Uno cards or Monopoly cards, whatever, in this plastic bag. And my son was using it to kind of breathe in and out, like, and she's like, oh, don't. Now there's condensation in the bag, and the card's going to get wet. Now I've got to wait for the bag to dry. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, it's not an emergency. Just like, chill out. Do you know, I was like, stress is the number one killer.
Starting point is 00:20:23 They reckon above a bad diet, not working out, all these. things. Sometimes pace is very good though. So maybe my like, I'm trying to stress less. What that does is it naturally makes you. But that fucks me off when people do that as well. Like if I'm stressed, take a deep breath. Rest.
Starting point is 00:20:37 I'm like, piss up. I'm stressed. Let me stress. And maybe is that. My wife will be like, just take a deep breath. I'm like, you know what's not helping? You're going, take a deep breath. Yeah, my wife doesn't like when I go, it's not an emergency.
Starting point is 00:20:50 It's not an emergency. Yeah, but you just, it's like you're not stressing. Fuck me, man. Now I'm straight. This is what it does. It puts your, like, what stress should be yours, onto someone else, which is usually a fucking producer, Clint. He's trying to organize something because we're late.
Starting point is 00:21:04 I'm like hurting cats trying to get everyone out the door. Come on, we've got this fucking shoot. And Clint's just slowly wrapping up his headphones. The non-swearing rules got out of the door on this one. Fuck it, man. On the producer, I'm taking it. Dan, you're on that one. Yeah, and thank you, Jacob for, for...
Starting point is 00:21:17 Oh, ask a, Clint now a question. Clint, Clinton, question. I really don't want to play in this game. That's hardly on the truth. I don't want to... No bell? No bell. Okay, Clint.
Starting point is 00:21:27 I don't want to play this game anymore because it's going to be about me and I don't want to hear it. Give us both one thing that you find ugly about each of us. Dan's easy. Dan's... Physically.
Starting point is 00:21:39 No, like... Dan, you didn't say that. No, physically ugly. Dan's lack of wanting to give to charity. I think it's mean. Someone that has a lot. I do give to charity. I don't want to know my mind.
Starting point is 00:21:50 I don't want to know my mind. This is our own. I don't know. I'm going to get in my hand. I've got Hashi-Moto's the same. She's got Hashi-Moto! This is the Oversinketh podcast. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Can I just say one? No, I won't. You want to give yours? No, Dan. This is normally we'll go and give up. Have you stopped recording, Clint? Okay, fine, I won't say it. No, I'm...
