This is a podcast from Rover.
This is the Overthinkers podcast.
Kiyoda, Klamyana, your host.
We just finished our radio show.
She's been a bit of a hectic one.
Yeah, full on.
It was every caller wins,
camping and stuff.
If you listen from overseas,
R&V, Rhythm and Vines,
is kind of like a ride of passage
to do your New Year.
It's like New Zealand's Coachella.
Yeah, yeah, it is.
It is, of course,
and we'll get to New Chowella,
and so we did this big giveaway this morning
where we gave away heaps of tickets and camping,
so it was very insane and full on.
$20,000.
worth over four hours
and we just finished it and we're like, you know what?
Let's record a podcast.
Yeah, let's do it. Why not?
Let's have no break.
Let's not have time to eat.
Let's not leave the studio literally at all
between meetings and our second show and our podcast.
You can't say that we work hard
when there's farmers and people listening.
I think it's different kind of work, mental work.
So you're saying that what we do?
No, no, I'm not saying it's hard. I never said that.
But I'm definitely saying this is draining.
Yeah, but then I do think that's
Some days and then I'm like, oh, but we could be on a farm.
It is nice to have the reference point of when I used to pour concrete with my old man
and the school holidays and stuff.
And yeah, the physical exhaustion of that was intense.
But mentally, you just let the guy fill your barrow, push it to the part where you tip the concrete
and then go back to the truck.
He fills it up.
You go back to the spot and tip it again.
Don't act like, you don't get tired, Dan.
You come out of you go, I'm exhausted.
Oh, God, I do.
But I would take that over to tip and concrete.
any day of the week. I didn't know that was the option.
Like, yes, I'll like to shop.
I've been taking concrete.
That's my only other option.
That's all I'd be good at, I think.
And even then, I'd struggle.
That was always the scary safety net,
which Dad had a concrete contracting business.
And I was like, I hope Dad doesn't hope
that I'm going to, like, take over the family business
because I like having soft hands.
I think if I wasn't doing this job,
there's not much other stuff I could do.
Do you want some hand cream?
Yes, please. Thank you.
Yeah, my dad has always had really rough
scratchy callous hands with this because he's a
hardworking man. I've got some
mail. Do you want to hit the mail bag intro before you make all
your hands all slippery? Yes.
You got mail.
I'm this from Lisa. Hey, Clint
Meg and Dan, every Thursday morning
is Vacuum Day
at my place. And I
listen to the podcast on Vacuum Day. My neighbors
must laugh because you guys
make me laugh out loud.
And even I'm tuning
and it's... What does it say?
Can you read?
Yeah.
No, I think it's written badly.
My neighbours must laugh because you guys make me laugh out loud,
so loud that even I'm turning around to see if someone's looking at me.
Keep it going.
So I was interested to know what people do while they're listening to the show.
Like, are they doing still?
Like, are they pouring concrete?
I've found myself listening to a funny podcast whilst at the gym.
You do have to be careful if you're doing like a bench press or something.
Because if you've got weight over your chest and then you do happen to laugh.
It's really hard to not end up crushing yourself when you get the giggles.
We have had a few people say that they've got to stop laugh, listen to us at the gym, because of that exact reasoning.
Some exercise would be fine.
You're just like put the weight down.
But yeah, bench press is definitely a risky one if you listen to a funny pod.
I think Sin sometimes listens to us.
She works at George.
God, I love that woman.
She is the cool.
Do you know what?
Knowing that she likes me makes me feel cool.
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
The fact that sin thinks I'm okay or cool
In any realm
We keep doing that thing like we should hang
We should catch up we should catch up
So yeah it's one of those ones
It's like this new friendship
And she's like a like a butterfly
And you don't want to hold on too tight
Because then you'll touch the wings
And then you'll fucking change
And you'll realise we're actually really fucking lame
But she listens at the gym I think
And she said she's got to stop
Oh that's nice of her
Yeah
So just DM us where you listen
What you're doing while you're listening
Here's another message as well
It's some more mail
This is to my personal
You got Instagram.
We did the Huck musical recently.
Great success.
It sold out.
Great success.
I mean, there was talk of doing it again.
It was just very difficult for us to put it on again in another city.
No, well, ironically, all the rehearsal and things that we're done,
it would have actually been so much easier to just do it a second time because most of the work is obviously learning it.
Unfortunately, you had booked a cruise and so we had to take some time off.
Yeah.
And it was like traveling a show to do a musical when we were a radio show
sort of felt like we weren't keeping our eye on the pies.
Well, I may have found a loophole.
And we might not have to do anything.
Hold on a second.
But we could outsource.
So I just got this message from Mal yesterday.
Hi, Dan.
Was there a script for Hook the Musical?
Would love to use it for our Year 6 show this year.
I'm a teacher.
Oh.
Oh, there were some very inappropriate lines from Smith.
Yes.
That would have to be changed.
Yeah, what's year six?
Year six is my daughter.
It's still primary school.
Yeah, it's the last year of primary.
Oh, God, yes.
There's definitely some, uh...
I wonder, I haven't messaged back mail yet, but I do wonder whether if she has actually
seen the show.
Yes, me will have to be a hard change.
It's full sexual innuendo, all the way through.
The sexual energy, the gay sexual energy between Smee, who's played by me, so many
questions, and also Huck, who's played by me, is palpable.
Oh, God, we were in it, though.
I was me when I was in the show
Like I did the adapted show of Lamer's Rabla when I was at school
And obviously there's lots of whores in that
And you just sort of glaze over the whore
Hors or hors? Hors like sexual
Did you change it to whores?
Well they're prostitutes
There's like lots of prostitutes
What's the difference between a prostitute
And the H word? I'm not sure if you'll say it
Let me check
Well a whore I think a whore's just a slang word
For a prostitute
But they're called hores in the show
Like that they're referred to as hors
That's why I say the word
I hope you are allowed to say in
26 because you said it about eight times
Oh sorry about it
Okay the difference is
While both terms refer to selling sexual services
For payment prostitute is a direct literal
descriptor for somebody who engages in sexual activity for money
In contrast whore is a highly offensive
derogatory slur
That is used broadly as an insult into shame
No but I yeah but that's why it's used in Le Miz
because they use it as they say it in the show
Like it's widely used in the show
And I think that's why they use it
because it is a derogatory term.
In fact, I had a line.
What did they change it to then?
It's same for a whore as it is for a grocer.
The customer knows what he gets in advance.
It's not for the who to say yes or no, sir.
That's all the way through it.
Well, what did you change it to?
You said you adapted to it.
I also, I could also recite a Dr. Dre song that I know,
but there's also words I'm not going to use.
There's a lot of similarities between labors and Dr. Dre.
I can't just be like, but Dr. Dre says it.
What was the adaption?
Because you said, so what did it change to?
Well, it wasn't changed.
So it's not an adaption at all.
Yeah, well, no, there's the school one, I think, from memory,
I can't remember quite back, but I think it just cut maybe some of those lines out.
But there was still women that girls that played whores in our show.
Imagine coming home.
Like Fontaine, she dies.
I'm hoar too.
Yeah, yeah.
That there was.
Did you get in the production?
She's like, yeah, I'm whore number two.
You want to be whore number one with the line, eh?
Yeah, obviously.
Not back up horse.
Yes, because Fontaine in the show, she dies of syphilis,
the one that Anne Hathaway played in the movie
Oh really? They don't say but
What is that?
Well it's just a sexually transmitted disease
But back in the day in the like 1600s when Llamis is set
There was no penicillin for that sort of thing
So sadly she died
Has any...
Syphilis is a common bacterial infection passed through sexual contact
It's easy to cure with antibiotics
But they didn't have it back then
You've never had an SDI have you done?
I don't think I have. If I did I didn't know about it
You've never had one
I've never had one
Tell us about yours, man
Oh my God, I acclimitya once
It was one fucking time
Sorry, I got laid more than you two losers
Fuck me
Overtinkers
Virgins in the room
She's got us there
Yeah, thank you.
You have to get his STI clinic
You have to have sex
Yeah, yeah
Oh well
I don't get it over
We've talked about it before
But I didn't get water on my penis
For rolling in mud
we don't know what that was
This is the Overthinkers podcast
Turns out dad was bloody rubbing toads all over his penis
Or something or frogs
Oh, God knows
All right, Cliff, you're gonna fart?
Oh fuck, honestly, this has been a shocker
Should we re-record it?
We've only ever re-recorded
Is it one or two podcasts?
I thought it was only once that we did it.
Maybe only once.
Oh, maybe two.
Yeah, who's winning the weekend this weekend?
If you're in New Zealand,
hopefully you're watching the wires, 8 o'clock,
on top of the table. Panthers, that'll be
me and my mother boy tonight.
I've got a new mountain bike. Purchased
a new mountain bike. I'm taking that out for a spin
this weekend going on some
mountain biking trails by myself.
Oh yeah. Yeah, so we'll see how that goes. I've got no friends.
Guy will mount a bike
with me, won't he? Yes, absolutely. So I'm going to take it out
this weekend, see how good I am before I
go with anyone else.
Oh, yeah. There are some real, the last time was
in, was it, Queensland or Rotorua,
and they had the luge there.
And there's...
So cool how people
Mountain bike...
BMX track.
Yeah, I think it's the Queenstown one.
And there's BMX track.
It's gnarly as man.
That's a mountain bike track, not a BMX track.
Yeah, and people are literally hitting these jumps
like that you would watch on TV.
And I'm like, how do you know you can make that
when you have to at least attempt it for the first time once?
It's easier than it looks.
What?
It is easier than it looks.
It looks so hard.
The trick's doing it fast.
Yeah, but that's the thing.
If you don't commit and you like freak out and hit the brakes
you end up in a wheelchard?
But it's like after a while you get to know
how far you can jump.
It's like a sort of a muscle memory thing.
I don't do the big, big jumps,
but I do the smaller ones that in between like...
Oh, the kids are doing?
The intermediate ones.
No.
Intermediate kids do it.
I don't know.
The kids ones are just the same sometimes as the adult ones.
But yeah, it's tricky.
It is tricky doing the big ones.
Do you have just a normal helmet or do you have one of those like motocross helmets?
I have a full face.
Yeah, we've got to protect the moneymaker.
And what about do you have like a motocross like shirt?
with like the built-in, like, elbow pads?
No, I don't have elbow pads, but I do have a, like,
motocross-style shirt that I wear.
And I've got goggles as well.
I put goggles.
Sorry, goggles.
It's a e-bike.
No, I don't have an e-bike.
It's just a pet, it's a full pedal now.
Yeah.
What about, you know, knee pads, elbow pads?
No, I don't have any of them, but I do have a padded gout.
Boots?
No, just choose.
Padded goot?
Like a padded gusset thing.
Have you got quite a thin gout?
No, but, like, so, so, you know, when you're on the seat,
because the mountain bikes,
seats are really hard, so I have, like, padded tights.
Maybe, well, maybe you have, like, an abnormally thin gooch.
Have you thought about that?
What a stupid thing to think about?
What the fuck?
He's got enough things that keep him up at night.
That's a shitty friend over there.
What are you trying to do?
Yeah, I'm not sitting up in a night going, oh, I wish my gooch was thicker.
Well, you're having to buy special padding for it, whereas most people just wrong.
Shut up, Clint.
What do you mean special panting for a good?
If you have a thick gooch, I think that's more embarrassing.
Yeah.
Sorry, you're your thick fucking gooch.
Oh, look at Clint, he's got a bit of a gate on him, mate.
Must be his gooch.
Whereas Dan's got a really sensitive thin gooch stand sits down like,
oh, fuck it out, look at the box gap on him.
A thick goochie.
Come on.
Fine.
A fart that'll leave you with hairy eyes.
Guess the fart was that smell?
A sneaking mystery for us to one veil.
Oh.
Guess the fight.
Let's rip the Band-Aid off because this has been a shocker.
We've all been guilty.
I'll save it with a good fart.
You'll give, don't look at me like that.
Meg, you've been just...
Have I been really bad?
Filthy.
Not just filthy.
Oh no, it's sucking back up in me.
Because you guys take so long sometimes.
And I'm, honest to God, there's a little bit of a skill that goes on here, okay?
Because I have to try and time the fart.
And so I start pushing it out and then sometimes I send it down too early.
And then I go to my body, not yet.
And he goes, okay, so then it goes back up.
And then I'm worried I'm going to shoot a blank.
Yeah.
Now we have got multiple...
Do we want to go out to the producer booth?
Because we've got multiple people here today.
We've got Neeps, producer Neeps.
Neeps, do you want to go?
We've got, there is a multiple, oh God, what are we doing?
Because we've all played, but we've also got this new team member here,
new video guy here for The Edge.
So he hasn't played before.
He doesn't even know how it works.
I reckon everybody in the booth now has a go.
And Megan, I'll sit this one out for the day.
Yeah.
Okay, great.
I feel like I'm experiencing guess the fart, so I'm going to go.
Say your names before.
Oh, that's Nipier here.
It's going to be a upper infliction at the end.
I love that.
that, Nipia.
Okay, that's a nice one.
All right, producer Brady, I'm going to go with more of a...
Short and sweet.
And I think that's a good one because he hasn't had much luck lately.
Carl?
Hi, producer Carl here.
It's been a stressful morning, so I'm going more like a...
Okay, so we have long inflection up.
We have a short and sweet, and we have a Carl Squeaker.
I'm Bradley.
Bradley's first experience of this whole situation.
So Bradley, tell us a bit about yourself.
yourself? Yeah, so I'm the new team member of the Edge video editing.
Okay, and what have you done in the past, Bradley?
Not a hell of a lot.
He's not a hell of a lot, he's new at the edge, give us your far.
Is this the first time you've experienced Guess the Fart? Do you know what's happening right now?
I have no clue what's happening. Okay, here we go. He's about to sit for the first time, Clint, make it a goodie.
Bradley, what's your guess?
All very close to Brady. Here we go. Clint.
We've covered no basis there also.
I've heard, Bradley, a lot of questions that I wasn't expecting so I've now sucked it back.
up into my stomach again.
Try to send it back down.
Good luck, Clinton.
Good luck everybody in the booth.
Carl.
Well, done, Carl.
Almost, honestly, note for note.
Yeah.
He needed that.
He needed that.
It's been a big day.
He needed that.
Good on you go.
Oh.
Guess the fight.
Brady Neeps.
Bradley, back to the drawing board, guys.
Commigration.
It's always next Friday, guys.
Yeah.
Always next Friday.
All right, have a bloody good one.
We appreciate you.
Anyone who's got to the end of here is like an OG, like, fan.
Lovey, lovey, love you.
Yeah, you are like the crim of the crop, the MVP's.
And now I'll send you the script to hook if you want to do it with your 10-year-old kids.
See ya.
Rover, music, radio, podcasts.
