This is a podcast from Rover.
Take the edge off for your mornings with Clint Meag and Dan.
Catch breakfast.
Hi, good morning.
Bang on 6 o'clock Friday.
Even it feels like Saturday morning.
I think that's only for you, Clint.
Clint told us that he woke up this morning, thought it was Saturday and wasn't going to come to work.
I was like, oh, got to get the kids up, football, where are they playing this morning?
And then I was like, what?
It's 10 past 4.
And I was like, what?
I got another day at work.
Prodiscar.
Good morning.
I had the opposite of one of those, the weekend just gone.
I woke up on Saturday morning
and I looked at my clock and I was like
oh my God I'm running late so I dragged my ass up
got in the shower and then I just I went
Oh that's the best feeling
Oh and I just climbed out and I went back to bed
You went a bit far like sometimes I'll wake up in the morning
on a Saturday or Sunday and think it's a weekday
Yeah
And I'm like oh no and then you remember
Yeah
And it's the best feeling
Oh what a feeling
Clint Meg and Dan
Edge Breakfast
The Edge
Time for a little coffee catch up
See what's been going on in each other
this world since we caught up 18 hours ago.
I've got a bit of a PSA, actually.
Public service announcement.
And look, I know you won't like this me because you're an anti-vaxxer.
Don't say that.
Oh, God, I hope.
Very pro-vaccine, you know she AIDS Max.
Oh, God.
No.
So, you know, everybody's got the flu at the moment.
It's going around influenza, right?
Huge spike.
Yeah, and my wife had it this week.
Most of our family had it.
and George and I, my son, he's two, haven't had it.
And I think it's because we're the only ones in the family
that got the expensive flu jabs.
So you can get the free one, which is all not free,
but I think it's funded for most people in New Zealand.
A lot of people get it.
And then when I went in, they were like,
do you want the free one or do you want the one that's extra $45 or something?
And it's like done differently.
And I got that.
And I haven't, so far, I've avoided it.
And so is George.
And we've been exposed to a lot of people with influenza, eh?
Yeah.
We're the same damn.
We got, well, me and my two girls got the fancy one.
My husband didn't, and he seems to have got it, and we didn't.
But it's that, so the reason that one's expensive is because they put more research into the specific strain of bugs they think are going to go around that season.
Yes.
And that's what that vaccines for.
And the other vaccines are a general influenza.
I'm rocking a pretty loose set up this year.
How many, what do you mean?
I've had any jabs.
Well, there's a lot of people that you're...
I keep meaning to.
Did you not have it when you had that whole week off?
Well, maybe that was it.
I mean, you had a whole week.
I was pretty sick then.
Yes, you were really, really sick.
So then, do I need to go?
No, you don't get it now.
You've done it.
Do I?
Oh, great.
Well, having it's kind of like a vaccination.
One less thing I have to worry about.
I assumed you had it when you had a week off.
You're like, I actually, guys, I like can't get out of bed.
When COVID was going around, he wasn't getting the jab either.
No, no, yeah.
And the worst thing was, is that, yeah, I think I got some.
sick on like a Saturday night, Sunday morning.
And we'd taking the Monday off as an annual leave day.
How much does that suck when you're like, oh, now I'm sick
and I'm just sitting at home feeling miserable with an annual leave day?
And you'd just come off like a petri dish cruise.
So yeah, you've had the flu klint.
We'll be doing one of those again in a wee while.
10 days on a boat. No, thank you.
Anyway.
Well, I'm very happy.
Like, how cool is it that you're like, oh, wow, this is the proof it works?
Yeah, because I was a bit of a skeptic like you, Meg.
No.
All right, we're getting to New Music Friday up next.
Who's dropping new tracks this morning?
Do you know, it's a small one, but I think it's quite fun.
There's a really great new song by Leon Bridges.
If I tell you that Sunny Fadera and Becky Hill have gotten together,
you probably know it's going to be a great dance track.
And I thought this was really cool.
I found that Cruz Beckham, obviously, David and Victoria's Kid,
has released the song called Wannaby.
Oh, like his...
Like his mother.
Has it any more?
I guess we'll hear it.
Wait, so that's the one who must still talk to mum and dad.
Yeah, Brocklin's the one that's not.
So Cruz's still with mum and dad.
That's got to be hard as brothers, hey.
One of you talked to mum and dad,
and the other one wants nothing to do with them.
But you still want a relationship with your bro?
Yeah, there's always, there's weird ones at every family,
Clint.
So who did, yeah, you're the weird one, right?
Probably.
If you don't think your family has one, it's you.
Yeah.
Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan.
Hedge.
Clint Megan Dan's scandal.
Will Ferrell, is the actor, by the way, from movies such as...
Anchorman.
Thank you.
Has said how he feels about his son being a bit of a rock star.
Yeah, he was actually on the Ash London show recently.
For all the things I've gotten to do in experience, this is the most surreal and yet the most exciting.
Like, it really is.
This is his passion.
And to get to, you know, pursue that, it's the best.
Is there a chance that you will play Cowbell on one of his song?
If he wins the VMA, yes.
It was really cute as well
because I saw that his son
then commented on that video
because it wasn't on Will's page
it was an interview somewhere
with just that little crying smiley emoji
like oh dad
it's quite sweet that you never see Will Ferrell
talking candidly much
like he's always playing the character or something
you know so it's nice to see him
I were going to be a cool dad
because I saw an interview where he was talking about his dad
Will Ferrell when he was trying to get into acting
and obviously there wasn't a good chance that he was going to
make it because most get chewed up and spat out
And he said, my dad said to me, if you're going to go, and you think he's going to go,
then make sure you make it work.
And he goes, if you're going to go, have fun.
If it doesn't work out, that's fine.
Not everything does, and that's okay.
And you're going to give it a crack.
And then you'll know.
And he goes, it took all the pressure off having to be successful because my family is like riding on this opportunity.
And because I was chill about it, it worked.
That's a interesting parent takeaway.
And Zane Malak from former One Direction and also just singer in his own right has uploaded
photos of
my dream life basically
he's done a dump
saying
he should be doing that
he should have been posting that on social
Is that your dream life?
It needs a better word
When you put up a bunch of photos
He did a big public dump
Yeah all alone without kids annoying him
A bit of a loan done
He's uploaded photos showing his lovely farm life
He's taking photos of foxes, squirrels
The vegetables he grew in the garden
And harvested
He's done an outdoor barbecue with some corn
harvested mushrooms and sunsets
and nights with his daughter.
It just looks lovely.
While he was dumping.
Just hits in Auckland.
I want to see that now, Meg and Dan.
It's so lovely, Clint.
I'm happy for him.
I don't know why, but he seems like a nice guy.
He doesn't be that by-bay that he's on a farm.
It's a farm guy.
He likes to grow his own things, and then he plays PlayStation at night.
I think a lot of guys think he's got it pretty good.
That's good. He's done all the other stuff.
He's been in One Direction.
He's being with one of the Hadid girls.
Yeah, he's got a great daughter, he's so happy.
Yeah, he's ticked off those two boxes.
He's done everything else.
Hadid, one direction.
What's next?
See you later.
Edge Breakfast, Clint McGinn, Dan.
First call of the day.
Good morning to Brooke.
Hi, Brooke.
Morning.
Morning, Brooke.
Now, we get a lot of career drivers calling this time.
You guys get up early, getting out the letters and deliveries early.
Yeah.
Yes, I was actually listening on Rover because I'm at the depot right now.
Oh, okay.
You're in wonderful Wanganui.
My family lives there.
My husband's family all lives in Wanganui.
A couple of my besties too.
Yeah, if you ever need to drop your doggy daycare,
Jukes doggy daycare, that's my sister-in-law.
Yeah, I love them.
Talk us to a day.
I've heard of that.
Yeah, well, there we go.
What about Wanganui collegiate?
The private school there?
Yeah, it's like a boarding school.
Yeah, my cell one, tell him I said,
hey, he's one of the house leaders there.
Nice, okay, Dan, what have you got to do with Wanganui?
I've got absolutely nothing.
I couldn't tell you where it is.
No, I love it.
That's the one with a beautiful river running through it, isn't it?
Yeah, like a...
Brooke, tell me, talk us through a day in the life of a career driver,
because it's always intrigued me.
So you go to the depot in the morning,
you pick up all the letters and boxes and stuff,
and then you're out delivering all day,
or do you go back to the depot?
So as a career, we don't actually do letters.
That's our DA.
Good one, Dan.
So I get to work.
Yeah, nice one, Dan.
I don't actually know what, Brooke?
I don't want to know.
You must have.
I'm hung up on it.
No, you get to work at 5.30 and you sort all your parcels out
and then you load your van up and then off you go.
And if you have to come back for more because you can't fit at all,
then you come back when you finish the first slot.
And then, yeah.
You must go back to the depot and then drop all the parcels off
when people went home and you leave one of those annoying card to calls.
And I'm like, just leave it off my doorstep.
But then people steal it, Clint.
You'd be complaining.
Oh, sad to Wanganui.
Come on, mate.
Oh, mate.
There's a dark underbelly.
There's a dark underbelly of every town.
Are you working the weekend, Brooke?
Or do you get it off?
No, I'm going up to Auckland, actually, Alex Warren.
Oh, how good.
Nice.
Did you win tickets from us?
I did, actually.
Not from you guys, but from the Ash London Facebook page.
Yes, very good, very good.
We might see you there because we're apparently going to be chatting to Alex Warren before the show.
Yeah, on Monday night.
We're going back.
stage. Oh, lucky.
Yeah, I'll rub it in, Dan.
Yeah, okay, mate. I'm sorry, sorry.
Yeah, we're going to have dinner
with him. Yeah. We'll tell him you said hi though, bro.
Thanks, guys. Please do.
Thanks, for a great weekend. Drive safe, please.
Yeah, enjoy your Friday.
It's a long drive from Wanganui.
Yeah, it is a long drive. Yes.
Seven hours.
Yeah. I once hitchhiked from there.
Remember I started this job and I was hitchhiking through the country?
Yep.
And I had to hitchhike with a truck driver from Wanganui, and I think I went all the way to
Tikawiti.
That was a long drive.
And have we all hitchhiked for this job?
Yeah.
Okay, cool.
Just checking that.
Meg and I hitchhiked the length of New Zealand, and it was like a race.
And I made a rookie era right at the end after being in front most of the way.
And Meg beat me to the studio by like 40 minutes.
Didn't you try and get a train ticket or the buses were stopped or did it?
Yeah, I ended up taking a bus and there was an accident and Pococor here.
And that was me done.
Classic, Kintai.
He tried to cheat.
Let's backfires.
Yes.
Oh, was satisfying Dan.
Nauty 640 up next
A very interesting conversation
That I had with my 11 year old
Last night
Okay
Uh oh
And I thought I pushed that
Yeah
Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax
The Edge
Time to get naughty
At 640
Okay
I do need you to know
That I was having a conversation
With my daughter
But she doesn't really want to be named
So
Oh yes your daughter
Francine
Francine or Justin
Francine
Frantzine
Yep, it was Francine.
So me and Francine.
That's definitely her name.
We were having a chat and she's, I'm telling her something,
or she's telling me something, and she sort of shortens up the story.
She goes, anyway, you get the jizz.
And.
Oh, God.
Oh, no.
I've always said that about Clint.
You get the jiz, and I said to a gist, and she goes, what?
And I said, you get the gist.
And she goes, yeah, but me and my friends, we don't really say that.
We don't say the tea.
I was like you need to say you need to
And she's like no we just say you
You've got the jizz
Or you get the jizz
No
And I go
No
And she goes why
Why is it
Why I can't
And now I'm like
Oh no
What do I do now
Do I back out and letter
Keep saying
You've got the jiz
Or do I have to stop it
And tell her why
Or she won't stop it
What would you do in that situation
I think you need to pull Francine
Aside
Yeah
And say first of all
I'm sorry
I named you Francine
It's a horrible name
And second of all
I think you need to explain to her that it's a naughty word.
Wrong.
I've come over here and I'm saying back out now.
Beep, beep, beep, beep.
Okay.
Well, let's just fast forward what I did.
And as I go to leave the room,
I hear my wife go, what were you guys talking about?
So I stay and I like just stand in the hall and I listen and he goes,
oh, dad was telling me I can't say you get the jizz anymore.
And then he told me what jizz is.
And my wife goes, what?
And I go, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, coming back in here.
I was like, because my wife's brain's going all over the show.
And I said, I told her that to make a baby, you need sperm and an egg that creates a baby.
And Jizz is another word for sperm.
So you don't want to say, you've got the sperm.
And my wife's like, oh, okay, so she sort of calms down a little bit.
I was like, technically I've given her the truth without being vulgar to an 11-year-old daughter Francine.
Yeah, it's fair.
France.
So, Francine needs to know.
Yeah, because I mean, she's intelligent enough to be able to know these things, I think.
Well, not that intelligent.
She knows where babies come from.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
So I thought it was good.
I was like, so now she's not going around.
But the problem is now she's going to go to school and tell all of her friends that they need to stop saying, you got the giz.
Or you get the jizz instead of gist.
But little do you know, Clint, maybe that's just a cool saying now and you're the uncool one.
Yeah, the person that originated it might have known what they were doing.
Like in high schools, that might be just the fun thing to say, like six, seven,
gone and they had to come up with something else and now
they're going, you've got the jizz. Well, let's hope
that there's something you're saying. And so now
when I go pick up my daughter Francine
from school and I see the other mums, they're
like, are you telling your daughter?
Francine. Yeah, Francine about
the birds and the bees and now she's passed
them on to our kids. To be fair, not about
11 is not too young.
It is, sadly, it isn't.
And Francine's very mature. She's very mature.
And also, yeah, she's going into
intermediate soon. You know, that's when...
And then the thing was, is that opened up a can
of worms of, okay, well, if Dad's going to
be telling me all these truthful
things, she asked me
about other things
and, yeah,
she learned some stuff last night.
She learned some stuff. My wife doesn't
know about that one, though.
Oh, wow. Well, I had to happen one day for
Friends thing. Yes. Problem is my daughter
watches Friends. So she sees a lot of
references and, you know,
Joey's borrowing condoms from Chandler
and stuff, and then you go, do you know what
those are for? Do I need to
correct you if you don't.
Do I leave it and let you just hope you've worked it out?
Yeah.
Well, in fairness, we've all got the jizz now.
We've all been informed of the whole situation.
Yeah, I've definitely got the jizz.
In fact, you've informed the whole nation, everyone listening
how the birds and the bees work.
Carl, have you got the jizz?
I've got tons of jizz.
Get your Clint McGinn to Dan Fex.
Plainting a chance of you to win cash this morning on the show.
Yeah, one chance very shortly in five minutes with easy money.
Yeah, but after 8 a.m., we've got in,
different way to give away a thousand bucks, don't we?
Yeah, the boss all this week, was saying that fire could not be made with two sticks,
and if we managed to make it happen as a show, he would give away a thousand dollars to somebody
that listens to the show.
And don't say as a show, Clint, this was very much your thing.
Oh, yes.
And God Meg, we were proud of him yesterday.
Oh, beaming with pride.
Oh, listen to Meg, just absolutely doing the most.
Well, I wasn't really in a position to be commentating what I was doing.
We're very close to the point that
Clint is getting smoking, intoxication.
Just keep breathing.
Intoxalation?
Oh yes, the famous inhalation.
I was standing at looking at you going,
what is she saying?
I figured you've combined inhalation
and intoxication, have you?
And you created a new word.
We're very close to the point that
Clint is getting smoking toxication.
Just keep breathing.
We're so close.
We've got embers.
We've got embers.
We're looking like this fire
within the little thing at bushel of
dried flint.
flakes here. Clint has got a lot of...
I'll tell you what. The English language took a real hit during that through 30 seconds of audio.
Oh yeah. Sorry, Dad. You've got embers in the bushel of flakes.
An intoxal Haitian.
We'll have more of that at after 7 o'clock this morning. Producer Brady?
I just ralas. I forgot to bleep all those swear words out. So I might have to do that now, eh?
Yeah, yeah, there's quite a few swear words from old Megman's.
Could you bleep out some of the stuff where we were just put out some words wrong as well?
I'm actually more embarrassed about that. So bleep out in to cavemen there, eh?
Yeah, we were getting a little bit worse for wear by the end of it.
But it does mean we've got a thousand bucks to give away today.
So we thought maybe we'd give it away to someone who's going to burn a thousand bucks in the most fun way.
Maybe it's this weekend or this week.
Don't want to give a thousand dollars someone who's just going to put it towards their insurance on their car?
No, putting it into savings.
We want someone that maybe hasn't had the opportunity to spend money frivolously because, you know, the times are tough.
It's the economy issues, isn't it?
And so maybe you just want to go on a spending spree.
This is your chance.
Okay, so what do we say before 9, we'll choose somebody
So you can either give us call or text us 3343.
How would you burn a thousand bucks in the most fun way?
Time to splurge it onto yourself.
We know everyone's struggling, so let's just do something fun.
And we don't mean physically burn it
Because you get smoke in her hilly-hoo-shoeated.
But if you make a little butchle of flakes first,
it'll be easier to like it.
Okay, we can keep firing stones or we can just play as...
You can go, buy a stone.
Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like.
Clint Meg and Dan.
The edge.
Your favorite game on the edge?
Just hits.
Easy money.
Bang on 7 o'clock.
All right.
Here we go.
A thousand bucks on the line.
If you can give us 10 answers, starting with I.
In 30 seconds, cash is yours.
You can pass.
You just can't repeat the same answer twice.
All right, Coral's birthday is on Monday.
She works at a dog adoption center.
Let's get going.
Coral, $1,000 for you this Friday.
Okay.
Okay, let's do this.
Oh, my God.
I do a great job.
It's going to hit you fast.
Time starts at the end of Meg asking you your first question.
Good luck.
Letter is I.
Give me a country.
India.
Something cold.
Ice.
A girl's name.
Indigo.
A reason to go to the doctor.
Intendicitisitis.
A brand.
Oh God.
Oh God.
A brand.
Oh God.
Pass.
An occupation.
Investigator.
A hobby.
A song title.
I will always love you.
Yes.
I think you did a Meg on question for...
Yeah, appendicitis.
Yeah, appendicitis.
Yeah, it's not...
What's that?
Why is doing a Meg spelling something wrong?
That's a Carl.
That's a Carl.
That's not a Meg.
Carl's just not as well-known.
Unless you defecated yourself in bed this morning, Coral, you didn't do a Meg.
Don't worry about it.
That's the plane, darling.
She always denies that as well.
Sorry, Coral.
Give it a crack, but I'll let you run through it to Friday.
You know what? It was a really good start from her as well.
She was really answering quickly until the appendicitis had.
I was meaning like she's combined two things.
Like an infection and appendicitis.
I think she went with impendicitis.
That's what I think she might have done.
But there's another chance to win that $1,000 after 8 o'clock.
And also, as we said before, two chances after 8 o'clock to win a thousand bucks for a woman.
Yeah, let us know how would you burn a grand.
Just text us 3343.
Something fun.
Yeah, after the boss bet the show that we couldn't start fire with sticks.
Or we'd give $1,000 to a listener.
So how would you burn a grand?
Well, we said we're not actually burn it.
Just do something nice for yourself.
Yeah, like just...
Something indulgence.
Something splurgy.
Okay, someone said that they would get their hair done with Megan,
their nails done with Dan.
They're my front runner.
Oh, sad to me.
Clint Megan Dan, Edge Breakfast.
Just five past seven.
Clint Megan Dan, we're about to jump into highlights of this week,
according to our producer Brady at least.
Sometimes they're highlights, aren't they, Megan?
So other times they're just low lights and embarrassing things we've said.
Which I have a feeling, Dan, is going to happen this week.
And before we get into it,
Might I add, you look very handsome and you were such a nice friend of mine.
You could have said that without stumbling.
Hit the jams, Clint.
Too late. He's already recorded a Meg's.
No change in it now.
Giday, it's Brady here and welcome back to another producer's diary.
It's been a pretty hectic week on the show with Clint, Meg and Dan,
with imposter going on as well as Clint DeFlynn.
More on that later, though.
Meg's recently had her birthday and the guys were talking about some 30s chat.
Totally relatable for me.
And Dan pulled out his favourite.
My favorite gag.
Meeks 36 now, she's joined the club with Dan and I.
Things start to change.
There are signs.
It's usually physical signs, isn't it?
I had one specific that I'll bring up with you just last week.
Oh, you're hemorrhoid.
No.
Sometimes the boys just lose the plot.
This bit doesn't even need any more context.
A brand could have been Uber, Udrauma, maybe.
Dan had Ubisoft.
Yeah, did I?
Yeah, Ubisoft.
Classic.
That is just so mature.
I was going to do something with your agonist, but it is.
Quiz for Dummies is making its return in the producer's diary once again.
And this week we had Gee, give it a red hot bash.
This is an easy one for you to start off with G.
What is the main thigh bone call?
It's the femur.
What is 14 plus 27?
That's 30, gosh, 40, 41.
What is the group of kittens called?
Gosh, it's cubs.
Oh, sorry.
Cubs.
What?
No.
Oh, I'm a dummy.
No easy money highlight or low light this week
because you have all been admittedly a bit.
Now it's time for Clint the Flint.
And if you're wondering how we even got here,
this all came from a clip on our Overthinkers podcast last Friday.
No one brought a lighter.
I can make that with sticks.
What?
I've seen them on Survivor.
When they get the bamboo and they rub it back and forth, back and forth,
back and he gets hot.
And then you just put them at like a tea and then rub them back and forth.
And the boss couldn't help himself but get involved.
This was Jack's message to our group chat.
This is wild Clinton Randall, there is no way.
I'll give you $1,000 to a listener if you can make fire with two sticks.
Fatal error, Jack.
Who also have said to me multiple times we've got no money.
You're actually stuck yourself.
So Jack, if you didn't know as our boss, he's been.
How long you've been in the job, Jack?
Six months.
Still learning what good radio is, clearly?
Yeah, thanks, Dan.
I'm not concerned about it in the slightest.
It has to be post-show.
And we'll put you on a live stream.
In the clip, I said, a piece of bamboo.
So all I'm going to need is a knife and bamboo.
A knife.
No, no, no.
No, no.
And the listeners had Clint's back.
We heard from Laura.
Laura, you think he can do this?
Yes, I do.
I totally think he's got this.
Yeah, thank you, Laura.
Is there a pigeon with you?
You're a dove?
Oh my gosh, yes.
Can you hear it?
Based off the fact she had a bird in the background
landing on his shoulder,
I don't know if she's a very credible source.
Jack went away overnight and had to think about
whether or not he should let Clint
Have a knife for the challenge.
And he came back with some conditions for Clint if he failed.
I'll give you a small pocket knife.
But you must do a written statement on your personal Instagram explaining that you, Clint Randall,
were unable to make fire after stadium you could.
That's condition one.
You give me permission to use your face on a billboard of my choosing for 48 hours.
And if you fail, you personally have to front 200 bucks to give to all this on Friday.
Oh, I like this. I like this Jeopardy.
Now we're talking.
The stakes were set.
So Carl set off to find a guess.
Ash from NZ survival.
Scratch off a whole, like a good, big handful.
Hey, you always get more than what you think you need.
In your professional opinion, I'm sceptical.
Do you think this is going to make great radio?
Well, yeah, man, if you can get it going, I think that's pretty awesome.
Clint went home and practiced on Tuesday, Arvo,
till his hands were nearly blistered,
and he bought some evidence to Wednesday's show.
Oh my gosh, this might be the most boring.
audio I've ever heard in radio.
I'll still get the same thing.
But we've got to do this for two hours tomorrow.
And that's been the journey of Clint the Flint.
I'll pass it back over to Clint Megan Dan now
to see if you've got yourself a shot at winning
a thousand bucks. That's been it
for the producer's diary this week.
Have a good weekend and up the waz, you
bloody legends.
Thank you, producer Brady.
Yeah, thanks. Is that all we've done this week?
Try to make fire.
I haven't remembered a time before.
Rivating.
Yeah.
Okay, well, maybe much like my wife,
you might have had to get on with yours at, like,
get on with your life at 9 o'clock,
because she said to me, oh, I was this thing,
and you still had made fire, and then, I don't know,
I had to do things.
So you might have missed the moment
when the boss was eaten his words,
and we've got $1,000 to give away on the show this morning.
Yeah, after 8 o'clock.
What you need to do is convince us on the text machine
what you'd fritter it away on.
Yeah.
A splurger on yourself.
Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan.
Right, yesterday was D-Day after the boss said,
nah, you can't make fire with sticks, and if you can,
you can give a listener a thousand dollars.
It was a really, really, really stupid move in our boss's part.
Oh, God, yes.
You know what I mean?
We knew that, Dan.
Clint knew that.
You don't challenge Clint to something.
No.
You don't.
You just don't do it unless you're super willing to give up whatever you've been.
He would do anything in his power, even if he knows he can't do it.
Yeah.
To make it happen.
The thing is if you YouTube it, there are people that can do it.
So if they can do it.
Why can't you do it?
Exactly, Clint.
Just practice.
So if you missed the moment it happened, we'll go back a little bit.
We were early on, about 10 minutes in Dan.
And this is the first time we'd ever seen Clint do his technique.
And I got very excited because it looked like we were on in the first 10 men.
Clint at the moment is, honestly, I think he's made fire.
Dan, there is a lot of smoke coming from his legs.
Okay, yeah, but it's smoke.
It's not fire.
I do not see a flame yet.
Come on, Clint.
He's blow, everybody.
Clint Randall has possibly made fire with two pieces of bamboo.
We're literally 15 minutes in.
Now, he's blowing very hard, which has been an issue his whole line.
Not looking good at the moment.
Clint, have you got any thoughts at the moment?
No, just let him focus tan.
Okay.
Let him close to catch.
No!
Now, Jack, you must be very nervous.
Clint, you've got to start again. You've got time.
I've got time.
You've got time.
No!
Oh my God.
We can stop do this.
Yeah, went out. The ember went out and it was no longer red.
And then only realized that Clint needed to commentate a bit more.
All we could hear from him is...
Well, that was our drops.
Over the course of an hour, there were a lot of almost, but not quite, fires.
We are on the third attempt, Cal.
It's not looking good.
I rubbed it for so long, it's so hard that it made the hole too big.
A small collection of shavings, I think he's lost the ember.
Do we call it there?
No, I've got two.
We're on the fourth attempt now, Cal.
Clint has just finished rubbing and making a lot of smoke.
Hold too big.
Hold too big.
Yeah, so he's starting to talk like a caveman now.
We've been out for so long.
And then, after everyone else had lost faith in our man.
Yeah, people were standing around.
That all left.
They lost interest.
There was only four people left on the live stream.
One of them was Clint's mum.
With 12 minutes left on the clock, Clint made fire.
We're very close to the point that Clint is getting smoking toxicitation.
Just keep breathing.
We're so close.
We've got embers.
We've got embers.
We're looking like this fire within the little thing of bushel of dried flakes here.
Clint has got a lot of smoke.
You can hear in my excitement.
That moment was the closest I'll ever get to what cavemen experience
have seen fire for the first time.
True.
It was like magic.
I felt like I watched, in a way it is, of like natural magic.
I watched magic happen
A Flame Cat came out of nowhere.
It was phenomenal Dan.
I wish we were in a cave at that moment
because it was so close.
My favourite moment was seeing our boss Jack
on his knees with his head and his hands
just like Devo
that he just lost a thousand bucks.
Yeah, and he would never bet on you again, Clint.
No.
That's the last time we're getting a three thousand bucks from him.
Yeah, and speaking of which, $1,000, it could be yours
because that was the deal.
We want you to splurge it on yourself.
Yeah, that's the idea.
We're going to give it away after 8 o'clock,
but there's a few people that we've got on the line
that have got some ideas of how to spend the money.
Alex, what would you do?
I would go and get a tassil of the edge done.
Oh, now I asked her to.
Yeah.
I'd get it done on my ankle.
I think it needs to be somewhere visible, like the forehead.
Al, what would you do with money?
I'll get some new Aaron Williams boots,
a little cute outfit, and I'll cook like style.
and even a message to make you feel good when I remind you.
Nice, yeah, RM Williams.
You wouldn't get much change from a pair of RM Williams.
Yeah, 600.
Yeah.
Richie, a thousand dollars.
What would you do with it?
Look, there's a couple of ideas.
One, take my wife to Olivia Dean.
Yes.
Like slight accommodation.
Great idea.
But then Cal said, he mentioned the WAS just before I was like,
oh, we've never been to a WAV game.
Oh my God, wait, hang on, I have to change my mind.
Yeah, stop your wife.
Go to the WAS.
Yeah.
Tell you treat her, man.
Drink her.
So, yeah, keep texting in, we're putting them all in the drawer,
and we'll find a person that gets $1,000 after eight.
Someone else has said that they'll go straight to Pop Mart
and buy themselves a skull panda.
What is that?
That's the most genzy shit I've ever heard.
All right, hey guys, did you hear the chicken calling contest
has crowned a winner?
No, Clint, I didn't hear that.
Okay, would you like to hear the finalist of the chicken calling contest next?
I feel like in our meeting we said no.
Well, producer Carl was very keen to do it
Carl, you need to listen to me.
No, executive producer. I made an executive position.
We're doing this.
Executive announcer, Trump's executive producer.
Executive announcer!
It's breakfast, Clint McGinn Dan.
Producer Carl said, we should be talking about this on the show,
and I looked at and thought, you know what?
No other radio station's probably doing it.
Is there a reason for that?
Well, someone texts and saying Ash London talked about it yesterday.
So they are.
Oh, so it is the buzz?
Wow, wow.
I want to hear it now if it's good enough for Ashland
and it's good enough for me.
I've always said that.
Yeah, the Iowa State Fair has been taken over social media
because of it's ladies' chicken calling contest.
Fun fact, the winner, and I'm about to play the three best chicken callers in the world,
that made the finals, the winner never even owned chickens.
How crazy is that?
So what's the use of a chicken call?
Why would you use it in normal life?
Well, you'd get chickens to come to you.
It's like a sheep whistling, isn't it?
Why do you, when does anyone ever need chickens to come home?
And they're farming?
If they're like free range.
Free range.
And then you want to be like, come here, chicks, because you're going to feed them or something.
Grand prize for the competition, not just a sparkly blue ribbon.
You also get a crisp $5 bill.
Is that it?
I think so, yeah.
Piss off.
That's not a great prize, is it?
What do you mean?
Especially when it's sponsored by state fare.
Is this over the UK?
No, it's not sponsored by state the insurance company.
It's called a state fair, like the US, like Iowa.
is the state.
Okay, let's hear them.
We're going to let him get away with that?
He wouldn't let me get away with him, but...
Shut up, me.
We'll push on.
Okay, here we go.
Top three in the world.
Tell me who you think is the winner.
That was shit.
I quite liked it.
So it's all women, is it?
I wonder if the men's one got ten bucks.
That one was terrible.
Okay, here we go.
Next, next, next.
Chucked in a bit of English in there, but in a chicken accent.
That was better.
than the first one in my opinion.
Wow.
Okay.
And then the final one,
before you decide who you think
is the greatest chicken caller
in the world in the ladies category.
God, they're all terrible.
I like the first one
because they thought
she took it very seriously.
The second one I thought
was a nice mix between serious and weird.
And the last one I thought
was taking the piss.
So she's just Spotify.
I think that one, you're right, Meg.
Yeah.
The last one was taking the piss
and it pisses me off.
Yeah, it pisses me off.
too because this is very serious. So I say it's between
one or two. You want to go for two, Dan? I think it was
two. I think they had a bit of more
originality. Remembering that the one
that won has never owned
chickens. Oh, it's number three. That's sad.
It's the one that took the piss.
It was number three.
It's really sad to number one, who obviously had done it
properly. Just proves you can save a bad performance
with a high note. They do that in American Idol
all the time, right at the end. That would
really grind my guess is made number one. That's
ruined my day. That's really
scaring chickens away. That's not bringing them to you.
That's ruined my day.
So the other two women missed out of five bucks.
Oh, wow.
I want to hear the men's now.
I want to hear the men's category.
Oh, look.
Now he's into it, Bridges Carl.
Someone's text through saying,
this is great radio.
Now, I don't know if Marilyn's taking the piss there.
She's being sarcastic.
You know how we're giving away $1,000 for the, you know,
to see, for Clint the Flint,
to see who it just like burn it, right?
I'd love someone to message in and say,
I'm going to spend it on going to next year's chicken call in competition.
and entering.
Now that's a good spend.
Well, let's see if Mead can make it.
Meg, give us your best chicken call.
If you were in the competition, the women's category,
how would you do a chicken call?
Take it seriously.
I'm going to do this.
So a video can't be made.
She's pulling a double.
She's actually ironically flipping the bird.
Thank you.
Double finger guns.
I think it'll be a good video.
No.
Come on, girls.
Now that's what I call great radio.
Thank you.
That's still going to make a video out of that.
The attack the fingers made it better
No you can't do that. You can't put that video up.
Can't do it. You can't. You can't do this. We definitely can't put those actions in the video that you just made with your mouth and hands.
The chicken calling's done. You can't put these videos up.
No, she's just written an F word on a piece of paper and held it up.
It's going to be the best video we put up today.
No, you can't put this up. Get it up, ASAP.
Clint's writing something else, what she's writing.
Dan's income 300 grand
Oh god I wish
Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax
Love Alex Warren
We do love Alex Warren
We've been lucky enough to enter him a few times
You guys got to interview him with Ash London
Last year was he's just as cool as the first interview
Because I remember his first interview
He was fresh into the scene
Lots of energy
We've seen that before with pop stars
And they kind of get a little too cool
Yeah we did a fun thing
We kind of pranked him last time we interviewed him
We all did separate interviews
Yeah, and we're noise-canceling headphones
We didn't know what the other person had asked
And then he decided who he thought interviewed the best
And he loves doing bits and pieces on his social media
Because he's got a very big following
And we thought maybe it's an opportunity for us to reach out to his team
See if he'd be keen to team up
With him up with our Dan Webby and do one of these
Hit it! Hit it!
Whoa, I like this
I mean the last time we did a celebrity version of Hit the Spot
was probably Guy Sebastian, he came into the studio
And I didn't know he was here
I did it and didn't nail it
Like fluffed it badly
Because I wasn't here
Can you explain?
So you didn't know what was happening
You were doing it he came and he surprised you
And did you do it together
Or did he do it by himself?
We let him do it
Yeah so we knew Guy was coming in
And so Dan just did it hit the spot
And then Guy breaks through the door
And goes mate you were out
You were out
And then we're already teed up with him saying
Could you give it a go
If Dan doesn't nail it
And so here's just a little bit of the tail end
Of Guy Sebastian's hit the spot
Attempt on his own song
Whisk up the good
I weighed the bad
Because it'll never be over
See you tell me it's over
These battles go
Is that what we're going to do with Alex
He's going to do it by himself
Are you guys going to do a duet?
Well I wonder
If this is what we're doing
And this is what you're pitching to me
I wonder if we do the first ever duet
Yeah I think we do a duet
Well we do have time with him
Before his gig on Monday night
It is Spark gig
So I've got three songs
that I think will work.
I think you should choose Dan
so we know what the song is going in.
I love the song.
That would work.
Yeah, that could work.
Otherwise.
With that way.
Now I'm second guessing because I thought
ordinary would be the best one,
which is this one here.
That's where the music would come back in.
They'll be singing.
They're all great.
I'm number two or three, Dan, obviously.
Really?
Yeah, well, I just because I love
ordinary and I think that moment is really big but that
second one is really exciting.
And you've got to hold this note together.
Bang!
I'm landing towards this now.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, so Monday night, Spark Arena before his
Auckland show and then hopefully
we'll have the audio, the
successful attempt of hit the spot
Alex Warren Jewett on Tuesday morning.
I mean, we haven't even pitched it to him yet.
All we know is we've got some time with him before the show
so he might not want to do it.
In which case,
just end up doing it to him and he'll watch.
I'd prefer if he was involved.
Otherwise that is super embarrassing.
All right, next to the show, Meg has scored a fun guest for us
who's doing something that I've never seen anybody do on social.
Yeah, love women who are entrepreneurs.
And this, I would say, is a very unique business model
that she has found for herself and is now selling to you if you were single.
Yeah, if you're struggling to pick up, this might be a new way to do it.
17 to 8 on the edge.
Clint McGee and Dan.
Get you Clint McGinn-Dan-Dan fix.
We have a very special guest with us this morning.
Her name is Raya.
Raya, tell us the unique way of how you pick up when out and about.
So I have a hat that says I'm single
and I wear it out wherever I feel like
and that's how I meet people.
Don't ask me how I thought of this idea or why in the world
decided to do this.
But one day I was just walking.
buy an embroidery store and they had hat embroidery and I was like okay I'm just going to do it.
Oh it's custom you're like it's a one from one. Yes. So you wear this cap when you're going out
at night do you wear it all the time and how much success have you had with it? Not all the time. I
actually haven't worn it out to a bar just because I feel like cocktail bar and a baseball hat I feel like
just does not mesh the vibe but I really do need to do it but I'll wear it let's say like I'll wear it in the gym
I'm not aware to coffee shops, restaurants, things like that, if I'm just grocery shopping.
So success rate, I will say I've had around 25 conversations in the past six months.
So that is one conversation per week.
I think that's pretty good.
And then around six, seven dates out of it.
But I also travel full time.
So my lifestyle is a little weird as well.
So there's players there, but pretty damn good.
And more than I expected.
Six dates, the only ones that you're like,
this could be potential when you go and see them again,
or they were just first times?
No, there are two second dates,
but I left the country before I could go any further.
What happens?
So you've got the hat on.
You're in a built-up area.
Someone comes up to you.
They've obviously seen the hat.
How does the conversation start?
The openers are not brilliant at all.
And that is what I keep telling people.
It doesn't matter what you say to the person.
Just talk to that person.
Because they'll literally say stuff like,
wait, why are you wearing a hat that says I'm single?
Or why does your hat say you're single?
Like, well, because I am.
Please be single, please be single.
I think it helps that you're quite attractive anyway.
I mean, I don't know why you need the help.
Or do you find that women, attractive or not,
don't necessarily have guys approaching them just starting a conversation.
So this is a great way to make it happen.
Can you stop hitting on the guest?
Yeah.
I really think that's what it is.
Because I tell me, it's like a,
Silent wing woman.
Just say you see someone attractive.
And this has actually happened to me when I went to the gym without the hat
and I was like making eyes with a guy who was attractive.
But no one says anything.
And I feel like the hat is just like a silent wing woman who's there
that gives you permission to just go up and talk to that person.
I mean, you know this saying where it's like, oh my God,
I need like I'm single written on my forehead.
Yeah.
I think you've kind of done there.
No, that's literally like...
I also wonder from a woman's perspective,
Have you ever been nervous about unwelcome attention?
No, so I did, I have had people uproach me who I'm not interested in.
Sure.
And I will say, but they weren't creepy.
I'm putting creepy in quotes because, you know, everyone has different terms for that.
Honestly.
Yeah.
Someone I'm not a drink to.
Someone I do not exactly what I do.
Yeah, and I know that you can buy the heads.
Oh, yes.
So I'm on Instagram.
It is really.
finds the world.
It's spelled R-I-Y-A.
And you can buy the hat in my link in bio
or I'm single club.com.
I'm single club.com.
In fact, actually, text the word hat to 33-4-3
and I'll send you back the links.
Ria, thank you so much.
I'd love to get the hat for Dan
and send him out for the weekend
and see how many times you get approached.
You know what?
I could wear the hat.
You guys should, but you said you're all married.
Yeah, it's experimental purposes.
Hey, Ria, what my wife does know won't hurt her?
Yeah, he'd be fine anyway.
Yeah, I'll be fine.
No one's asking.
Thanks, Rea.
I appreciate your time.
Oh, it does give me an idea, though.
I have a bit of something to bring to the table next for somebody on the team.
Let me guess.
Is it a hat that says I'm single?
Shit.
You're so predictable.
Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like.
Clint Meag and Dan.
But right now Mech has a little surprise for somebody on the team.
Yeah, I wonder what it is.
We just spoke with Raya who has hats that say I'm single.
And she says she's a great success with her out and about in the world.
any mini money mo who is single on the show producer Brady
I have for you a little present
Now Brady are you sick
Like you are single, I am single, you stand
How long have you been single for?
I've been single for about a year
Okay, so it's about time to get back on the market
Yeah it is
Well Brady
I want you to wear this hat that says I'm single
For all of the weekend
Right and then report back and see if it's successful
For the other side
because you know it's successful with an, you know, attractive woman.
When is they allowed to take it off?
It's the only time it comes off his head, sleeping or shower.
Yes.
Yeah, whenever you're unabout, you wear this cap.
And if somebody starts a conversation, you must, like, try and continue it.
This is exciting for you because I think this experiment could get you a girlfriend or a boyfriend.
Could you also?
Not kind of on a boyfriend, Dan, but...
Okay, well, you've got a covered bases these days, don't you?
You just never know.
Remember, if you can, the opening line that somebody uses, and then after they leave, write it down.
because it would be great when you come back, say,
I was approached four times,
here were the different lines that people use to start the conversation.
And we'll find out if it just works for girls
or if it works for dudes.
Yeah, it'll be interesting because I was listening to Reyes chat
and, like, what she said about, like, approaching people organically.
Like, that's something I wouldn't really do
because I'm quite, like, a nervous sort of person.
So it'll be interesting to see what happens.
Yeah, are you planning on going out on the weekend?
Yeah, I'll probably go out tonight and have a few beers.
And then you're wearing the cap.
Yeah, I will be.
And then I think tomorrow I've got like a few things.
things to do. All right from the night show wants
to go down to Britta Mart so I'll probably go down there
with him. To the train station. Can we swap the rip-kill cap that he's wearing now
for the unsingle one? It's on from now. Should we say from now until Monday?
Until Monday morning this time. Oh my God, imagine if he goes
out and to make a coffee in the office and he gets a proposition
at work. How's it fit? Do we need him to get a t-shirt that says
and straight? If it doesn't work Monday and you get on by too many dudes
we'll get the t-shirt. He's not picky. I've heard things. I've heard you're not
picky. Just because you love it, yeah.
Yeah, look.
Okay, it looks good on you.
Thanks, man.
It's good colour.
Like navy with white text really pops me.
Good job.
It really does.
Makes your eyes pop.
Okay.
Oh, wait.
Again, we need the straight t-shirt, Dan.
Sorry, sorry, yeah, yeah.
Clint Mc and Dan.
Edge Breakfast.
Your favorite game on the edge just hits.
Easy money.
Here we go.
Let's give away $1,000 this morning.
Your letter.
This morning is K.
All right.
Then give us 10 answers in 30 seconds, starting with the letter K.
We'll give you a thousand bucks.
You can't give you a same answer twice.
Hannah's a teacher from Christchurch.
Morning, Hannah.
Your letter is K.
You ready?
Jolla, so excited.
Kay's the worst letter.
I think U's probably the worst.
So K's actually easy compared to that.
Well, let's see.
This could be your slumdog millionaire moment.
Your time starts at the end of Meg asking your first question.
Let's go, Hannah.
Give me a name.
Okay.
I'm Karen.
An animal.
Kangaroo.
A language.
Korean.
A chocolate.
Oh, shit, pass.
Something you'll find in a house.
Kitchen utensils?
A four-letter word.
Part?
Water sport.
Coyaking.
A food brand.
A food brand.
Time, Hannah, time.
You know what?
This is a classic case of the first pass through you.
You know what?
What about Kit Kat?
I thought that might have been a sit at.
Kit Kat.
Or a kind of surprise.
Kit Kat would have been good.
Yeah.
Food brand Kellogg's Kris Cream KFC is what we had written down.
Your last two were a measurement and a male musical artist.
That would have got you $1,000.
Oh yeah.
So, yeah.
So close.
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
You can hold your head high, Hannah.
You did better than most.
Well, medium to high.
Yeah.
I'm shocked I got through.
So happy to be here.
Hold your head high then because of that.
Have a great weekend.
You too, guys.
Thanks, Hannah.
Enjoy Christchurch.
Alex Warren and Christchurch tonight and tomorrow.
Have the best time if you're going.
Spate's ale house is where the VIP pre's are happening with the Edge.
Now Hannah didn't win any money, Meg.
No.
But next, someone else will.
Well, not money, but tickets.
Shit tease, Dad.
Well, someone else will win next.
Yeah, that's better.
That's better.
Yeah, that's what I should.
Clint Meg and Dan.
The Edge.
She has sold out.
All tickets gone in 10 minutes.
Olivia Dean went on sale yesterday, midday.
She added 30,000, give or take tickets to an already sold out show that was meant to be at Spark.
They got moved to Western Springs.
And within 10 minutes, I was like, why can't get tickets?
What's going on?
Maybe the sight of crash.
They were gone.
There's only a handful of artists in the world that can do that.
And she's one of them.
She's a bona fide.
She's a bona fide.
She is indeed.
and I was like enough to be going through my DMs in my hidden folder.
I was just having a flick through and I saw one come through.
And I go, that's an interesting message.
I clicked through to it.
They'd ask my email address and I said I'm interested.
Send me an email.
And the email was from a deputy principal talking about an incredible student that they had.
And I thought, I just, I don't normally get that.
I get lots of mums.
And I know how amazing it is to dote on your own children.
But I thought that's really unique for a principal to reach out to a
radio station about a student who loves
Olivia Dean to even know that
their student loves Olivia Dean I thought was unique
and that she'd missed out on tickets and if there
was any chances around on how people win them.
So that's how it all started and we thought, you know what, I think
something can work here. So we thought we'd go after one of our shows
and start out by paging her on the school intercom
you guys did that. Yeah, we were trying to
allude her into a room under false pretences that Meg was
a dean and that
she might have been there for good or bad reasons
and then we surprised it with the good news
And it was Clinton and I's task to page her over the intercom
Like you say Meg and there was a bit of arguing
As who got to do that we both wanted to do it
Initially I was saying Clint you'll page
And then Dan goes well why can't I page
And then I said to Dan well why don't we both do it
And then Meg said no it's just better if just one of you do it
And don't muck up the whole thing right at the start
Dan couldn't help himself
You know the first part of this whole thing is we need to page
Jay, please make your way to reception.
That's Jay's reception.
Thank you.
Daniel, you stupid.
I just really want to say, thank you.
She smells a rat because the Eumbeck's going to kill him.
It's exhilarating, isn't it, pageing the whole school?
I was so nervous, and then you did that.
And I was like, great, it's blown.
Yeah, turns out we didn't need to run to the photocopy room and hide
because she took quite a while to make her way into the office.
The teacher made it sound like she was going to, like,
teleport there in seconds.
I know, right?
And so maybe you'll pick up on Meg's subtlety.
Jade didn't where Meg is Olivia and she is a dean.
Well, no, I'm from the Department of Education Achievement and Nurture, which is the acronym for Dean.
Hey, JD.
I'm going with you.
Hey, Jade.
Hey, I'm Olivia.
You just want to take a seat here if that's all right.
Jade, my name's Olivia.
I work for the Department of Education Achievement and Nurture.
And I've just been working closely with secondary schools.
reviewing student welfare and education.
I'm so sorry to Poyardcast, but your name did pop up a couple of times.
So I just have to have a one-on-one conversation with you.
Is that okay?
Yeah.
Okay.
Now, Jade is also hard of hearing.
She's partially deaf, which is why she wants to work with children that are partially deaf as well.
So she's done a lot of things.
You could have gone a bit easier on her at the start.
I would have been like, if I was here, I would have been like, Jesus, what have I done?
You were so serious.
Okay, but does Meg break character, or does she absolutely nail the role that she was asked to play?
You didn't start doing accents to do it?
They didn't do any X-Men.
She had a disguise.
She had like sexy receptionist classes on.
Makes me a teacher.
Clint McGahn.
Edge Breakfast.
The Edge.
Olivia Dean sold out after moving a gig from Spark to Western Springs.
Crazy.
If you do want to go now, you're going to have to win tickets.
Festi Bestie, your chance to get on the standby list is happening before nine this morning.
You and three mates, flights and a com.
All sorted.
And what I understand me is it's her biggest concert ever.
Yeah, for sure.
be her biggest, I've been first of many.
Yeah, I mean, she's played at big gigs, but she's always been part of a huge lineup of other artists,
but this is just hers.
How cool.
So Meg had a deputy principal reach out to her saying that there's an incredible student
that is super deserving of going to Olivia Dean but missed out on tickets.
And so we thought maybe it'd be fun if Meg pretended to be Olivia from the department.
Of education, achievement and nurture.
Which doesn't exist.
It doesn't exist.
No.
And Meg had the...
Achievements of Jade that I've been sent of all the incredible things this young woman has done.
Yeah, and you also had a bit of a disguise.
Oh yes, of course.
Yeah, well, no, Clint.
It was my normal clothes with a pair of glasses.
Yeah.
So it's like like Kent.
Work for Superman.
So, and this was the moment that Jade sat down.
I think still very unsure why she'd being called into this room and what the hell was going on.
Am I in trouble or not?
Very nervous, sweet darling.
Is it right that you're the Head Pacific student?
Yeah.
And Noayan leader?
Yeah.
I've received messages that you have led cultural events and Pacific initiatives.
Is that correct?
Yes.
Yeah?
Okay, you've done that in the past.
Are you interning at new shoots?
Yes.
Okay, and how's that going?
I love it so much.
It's so good.
You're going to be studying early childhood education at university.
Yes.
And you hope to support future generations of deaf and hard-haring children.
Is that right?
Yes.
Oh my God.
You bring people together with warmth, humor and genuine kindness.
I thought you'd like to know that.
So Dan and I are in the photocopy room and listening to the things you're rattling off me.
And we had no idea actually just how incredible this...
She's done more than...
I'm like 20 years older than her and she's done more than me in my whole life.
Yeah, she's a really amazing leader.
She's obviously extremely passionate about working with youth as well and leading them.
And as I said, she's hard of hearing herself.
So has had her own, you know, things that she's had to push through and now wants to help others.
And I think at this point she starts to realize, okay, this is a good meeting and not a bad one.
Are you turning 18? Is it October 17th?
Yeah.
Oh, October 17th, that's Olivia Dean's concert.
Are you going?
I wanted them.
Oh.
Did you not get you.
I was my mum.
By the ex-reve-to-meat.
I think there's an extra show.
I think there's an extra show.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Fingers crossed.
Hi.
Well, should you let your mum know that you don't need to
because we actually had Rose send us an email about you.
My name's Meg.
I work for The Edge Radio Station and we're giving you a double pass to Olivia D.
It was a beautiful moment
It was and then you burst in
A lot of energy
Well what we didn't know
Clint and I as Clint said
We're in another room
So
I came in going
You're going to her
Love me again
Didn't match the energy
She's crying
Megs and tears
So listen this is the bar
And you can just see
Dan entering like his whole cogan
About to fight
Her that you're such
An amazing young woman
And a great leader
And
Did that's a lady
and that, yeah, Rose just sent us such a wonderful message about you
and we just wanted to give you a little bit of kindness
and she wanted to see if there were any tickets for you
and we said, I think we can make that happen.
Yeah, we'll scratch some together.
You're all well.
You're all right.
A lot of tears.
I can't believe she thought Meg worked for the government,
but she did say, I thought you looked familiar,
but that was the glasses.
Yeah, they totally threw it.
You could pull off a dean.
I really think you could.
Daniel, stop it.
You can text the word Dean to 3, 3, 4, 3.
if you would like to see the video
in the moment.
It's a bit tragic.
Yeah, so...
Do you know what you mean?
Yes.
Dean. It takes Dean to 3343. We'll watch that video. And if you do want to head along to Olivia Dienk, because she's sold out now. We'll give you a chance to get on the festy-bestie standby list for four nine o'clock.
Get your Clint McGinn-Dan-Dan fix.
The edge.
Clint has got a lot of...
We had 90 minutes and I think there was about 12 minutes left on the clock for the time.
the ember turned into fire.
If you're lucky enough to get a bit of a sleep in tomorrow,
I think we've been trying to get the video up tomorrow and morning,
so you can sit in bed with your cupper and watch it.
Oh my God, it's going to be a hell of a video.
Hell of a video to see fire.
It's a huge flame as well that he created from just two bits of bamboo.
Let's not forget.
Well, the boss said $1,000 to a listener if you can do it.
And so we're trying to give it away.
Rochelle's texting saying,
my daughter's obsessed with Nidos.
Could get $1,000 worth of Nidos?
We did say Fritter it away, but I feel like that is.
too far.
Okay.
Some more suggestions.
Lucy, what would you do with it?
I would get 100 t-shirts made with my ex's phone number and his face on it
because he cheated on me after seven years.
Good.
Good.
And just like give them out to people where he hangs out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
I like that.
Like looking for sexy men or something like that.
Write that on there.
He can have that.
Wow.
I like that.
A woman scorned.
I love it.
mouse wants to take a thousand bucks out of an ATM and just walk around the streets,
giving away 20 bucks.
There's everyone that they walk past.
That is a dream.
Yeah, but that we said spend it on yourself, though, didn't we?
Also, can we trust them to do that?
Alex, what would you do?
Morning, guys, how are you?
Good, brother.
I've done a bit of gardening to do this weekend,
so I was thinking I might pop down and see how many garden nomes I can get,
and I was actually having a look at the moment online at some personalized ones.
There's some Clint-Berg and Dan ones in my...
Oh, personalized gnomes?
We could be gnomes.
Wait, how much is a gnome, roughly?
I'm actually currently on the website at the moment.
You've got some that are like $9 right up to about $100.
Okay.
Oh, God, you get a selection.
You'd spend a good amount on the big gnome, wouldn't you?
How many gnomes do you have?
You have gnome energy?
I have no gnomes.
I have no momes.
No gnomes.
I have zero gnomes.
Okay.
But I agree, Clint, I would buy a note.
Once you've got one and then she'd feel sorry for it because it's low
or she'd buy a second one and then she'd need another one for a family.
and chip that nobody's going to buy.
I can't get started, Clint.
Once I get started, it's a disease.
If there's any known manufacturers listening, make it me ignoam, would you?
Do us a favour.
Nepal, what would you do with the money?
So my mum's a solo mum to me and my sister.
And all the income that she gets, she kind of spends it only on us.
And she never, like, spends time for herself.
And so I would give it to her so she could get her nails done, maybe even together, or like a massage and stuff.
Oh, I like that you said, together.
So it's like one of those things of,
Mom, here's all this money,
but take me out with you.
Yes.
Whether it were for Girls Day.
Yeah.
Okay, so $1,000, you get a lot down for $1,000.
Not just nails.
Big pamper or a big late girl's weekend.
Yeah.
Exactly.
And, yeah, I think she really deserves it.
And I'd give my sister to my uncle to look after
so me and her can only be together.
Did you come?
Actually, there's a fun fact about Nafar as well.
Nafar, do you want to tell them who you are?
Oh.
Yeah.
So I was like,
actually the one who, like, asked the question on the
Overthinkers podcast about the deserted island.
Oh, you sparked this whole thing.
Excuse the pardon.
Yes, you sent to the message.
What would you bring to a deserted island?
Which is when we found out Clint could make fire with bamboo and then the boss Jack said no.
Because Meg was like, you're an idiot.
None of us have brought matches.
And then we're like, don't worry, we can make fire without matches.
Okay.
Oh, wow.
So we wouldn't have even got to this point without you.
Yeah.
Okay, it's tempting.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
I'm thinking what you're thinking.
I don't think Dan's thinking what you're thinking.
I'm thinking about what's faster a boy or a shark.
Navarre, the money's yours.
$1,000, Nafar!
Oh my goodness, you guys are amazing.
Yeah, single mom, that's a beautiful thing anyway.
And also, like, the fact that you sparked this whole thing,
I think that's only fair.
Yeah, that's such a great full circle moment for you.
Thank you so much.
Nafar, you're going to have to do more than just the nails.
you can get your mum a Brazilian, a tan,
you get the full whole hog.
She'll come out looking gorgeous.
I'll pitch that into her.
And if I really make sure that your mum does spend some money on her side,
because I know, Dan, you're particular to knowing what single moms give up for the kids.
My mom was a single mom, and it's honestly, I don't know how they do it.
So your mum is a superhero.
Yeah, thank you guys so much.
Oh, you're so welcome.
Elisa's pissed.
She's like, how am I going to afford my 400 packs of noodles now?
Okay.
Thank you to fun.
Yeah. That's been a really fun journey, so thank you for bringing that to us.
She needs Costco.
Yeah.
I mean you get like 40 packets of me gourang for like 20 bucks.
To be fair, if you bought the flat, a thousand dollars worth of noodles?
Oh, VIP.
Oh, thank you to everyone that text through.
Hey, you still do.
We have 250 bucks to give away.
If you hear a Sabrina Carpenter song between 9 and 10.
Where is this money coming from?
I've just signed a contract.
They gave me no more money.
That's why.
