Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Your mornings with Clint Meag and Dan. Get breakfast. Good morning. Let's get the show done so Dan can go and play golf. Yeah, we're in his polo today. Did you notice, Clem? Yeah, I'm going to play golf this afternoon.
Starting point is 00:00:17 It's not something I do often, really. I'm not a golf guy. But I will be today. I'm going to the driving range. Yeah, yeah. It suits you, though. It suits you knock off early, go and play a bit of golf. I do think he looks like a golfer out of anyone.
Starting point is 00:00:29 I feel like that's an insult. It's not. Isn't it? No. Meg's husband's a golfer. Yeah. But you wouldn't know because he's really good looking. Are you talking about me or guy now?
Starting point is 00:00:39 Big show today, actually. Huge show. That's on. Yeah, we got Bruno Mars tickets at 8. Your chance won a thousand bucks at 7 and 8. We do that every morning. We're going to pay some highlights of Harrison's interview with Bruno Mars flew all the way to New York for his interview. You know what?
Starting point is 00:00:51 I don't know if I'd want the pressure. I would. You know me. We've got to fly over, put you up in a comm. Like, it would cost whoever's paying for a lot of money. That formatted interview you bring back Betterby. bloody good. That time I interviewed Sam Smith
Starting point is 00:01:03 just down the hall and I still stuffed it up. Yeah, true. So yeah, they didn't let me play it, did they? We're going to debut Meg's song because with flat idol your chance to win six tickets to rhythm and binds you've got to create a song
Starting point is 00:01:17 if you're selected. Don't just go make songs and then for nothing. Meg's going to show us how easy it is. She only had 24 hours. She's already whipped something up. Took me 15 minutes of those 24 hours. Wow. So if Meek can do it, anyone can.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Well, we don't know if she can do it. We know she's done. something. I've done something. There is something there to play. I have faith in our Meg. That'll be 8.30 if you're still sticking around me. Also, we're getting you in the draw for Olivia Dean with Fistie Bestie. A lot of the times it's been
Starting point is 00:01:43 playing later in the morning. We're going to look after our 6am club this morning, get you in the drawer. So listen out for that. It'll be happening very, very soon. You're our favourites. Yeah. For sure. G's. Choosing us first. Danny's already text. Marilyn, good morning.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Marilyn's always there. She's up. God, it's verified. Yeah, she's the early starter. The Edge is the home of Clint McGinn Dan. The Edge. It's like Christmas Day for gamers this morning. Grand Theft Auto 6th. The showcase is getting released today on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:02:16 I think it's 7 a.m. New Zealand time, and then it gets free for people that don't have Netflix. I think this afternoon 1pm on YouTube so you can watch it. And it's going to be like a showcase of what to expect in the game, but also a few interviews with the developers and stuff. Yeah. This is going to be the biggest game. in the world, in it.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Am I right in saying that Netflix has never done that before? I think so, yeah. Like, there's a tease for a trailer. Crazy, eh? It's essentially a trailer, 30 minutes. Yeah, the setting of Vice City, we're going to be learning out about also the advanced MPC behaviours, which is exciting because I love,
Starting point is 00:02:47 I think that's what makes GTA six, well, GTA so cool is the NPCs. How you can interact with them a bit more. I heard as well that the Netflix subscriptions went up 17% or something yesterday worldwide just for people to watch a trailer. Wow. Well, we're going to catch up with Mick's husband Guy.
Starting point is 00:03:04 He does a podcast, extremely casual gamers. It drops at 7, so he'll have a bit of an update for us as to what to expect at 7.30. Probably a hard 180 pivot from what you're chatting about. Does anyone want to do like a show tour of how they turn one of the hardest materials or plant materials in the world, bamboo, into the softest sheets and boxer shorts? I started buying bamboo sheets and they're the silkiest, softest sheets I've ever slept in in and then producer Carl said his boxes are made out of the stuff like, how are they doing that? Bro, I, sorry Meg, I got to cut you off there because this is important. I bought bamboo, bend on bamboo boxes there.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Oh my God, I feel like a kick. Very misleading characteristics of bamboo if you think, like we made fire with it. Should I just Google it? Well, yeah, I just, wouldn't you love Dan to go to a fair? factory that turns a substance, well, a material like bamboo into soft silky sheets. Honestly? Yeah. No.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I think that's really boring. Like, there's a lot of stuff. There's a lot of stuff that I don't know about and wonder about, but I don't want a tour of a factory. You know, I'd rather just watch a YouTube video. Okay, to turn tough, woody bamboo into soft fabric material, they use two different processes at chemical. It sounds really boring. A chemical method.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Yeah, because we're not in the factory. Mechanical method. The chemical method works. So I'm crushing the bamboo stalks and leaves into pieces, then cooking them in a strong chemical solvent and then creating pulp and then regenerating them into it. Well, you're reading it boring. Do you want me to read it?
Starting point is 00:04:39 Exciting? Yeah, true. Honestly, Meg, don't bother. No, don't try. The bamboo dissolves into a thick jelly-like brown liquid syrup. And then the syrup is pushed through these tiny little holes into an acid bath. And what that acid bath does is that it instantly hardens the liquid
Starting point is 00:04:55 into fine, fluffy white, like threads. Wow. It's not the only thing hardening. Keep going. Keep going. Carl, turn his mic off. He can turn anything into sexual. That's the thing with that man. That's his son. That's how she was reading it. If you're in The Avengers, that's what you'd be.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Just the guy that turns anything sexual. I feel like a panda right now. Keep talking about bamboo. I'm loving this. Was it sexual? But isn't it crazy? The material that you can start fire with can also be the softer sheets that'll ever sleep. There's a metaphor in that for a person.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Also, I don't think you can't. Like, you took an hour to start a fire. Nearly two hours. So I don't think it's the most flammable item on Earth. It does make me worry If you start getting a little too frisky in the sheets And your legs start moving a bit too quick What could happen
Starting point is 00:05:35 I could catch anything on fire With two hours Clint Bloody hell All right Put it in the show for Monday I'll give him a bucket of water Two bits of ice Yeah and a cube of ice
Starting point is 00:05:46 Get you Clint McGinn And Dan Fex The Edge By love The Edge Bestie Bestie Olivia Dean edition Oh my God
Starting point is 00:05:55 Look at everyone Oh she's so cute The lines are open now for a couple minutes Call 0800 the edge to get you and three of your besties On our standby list to see Olivia Dean live in Auckland Do lots of people like being called cute in that trailer They go oh no she's so cute I used to get called cute a lot when I was at high school by girls
Starting point is 00:06:18 But not in the like hot way You know like they'll be like oh he's cute You're cute but not in a good And I used to be like I don't want to be cute I want to be hot I know there's a hot girl here in the mornings And she'll, when you're making a coffin, she goes, hey, sweets. Doesn't sound like...
Starting point is 00:06:34 No, that's friend zone. Yeah, that doesn't sound like she thinks you're. I know the one you're talking about. Yeah, hey sweets. Although I think it's just the word she uses on everybody. She calls everyone sweets. She's lovely, though. She is laugh.
Starting point is 00:06:45 She is. But just, yeah, I don't think she thinks you're hot if she's calling you sweets. All right, Oliver, would you like to be called cute or sweets? Hey, sweet. Hey, cutie. Hey, cutie. Probably sweet, to be honest. Yeah, sweets is better than cute, see?
Starting point is 00:07:00 Okay, man, it is better. All right, it's good to know. Oliver, you're in the drawer to go and see Olivia Dean, okay? Oh, awesome. Thank you very much, guys. Good on your sweets. Yeah, nice sweets. It's going to stick.
Starting point is 00:07:12 It's going to stick. Crystal, cutie, you're in the drawer. Hey, you little kitty. Hey, that was going to be my name if I was a girl. You could be Crystal? Mom said I was going to be Crystal. Now, do you prefer sweets or cutie Crystal? Probably cutie, actually.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Okay, cutie. Katie, you're in the drawer with three of your mates to go and see Olivia Dean. All sort of for you, okay? Oh, thank you so much. You're welcome. You're welcome. Can we go?
Starting point is 00:07:37 She's a barista? Can I find out what the most punishing coffee order that you can get is? Crystal? Oh, probably like a de-caf, almond, single-shot, three sugars, cappino. Oh, my wife. She is a de-caf, almond milk.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Cappuccino with cinnamon. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, with cinnamon on the top. Yes. Oh. Yes. Oh my God, and I have to make it very clear that I go, I'll get a small oat milk flat white. And hold on, my wife wants a, what did she say to me? And then I almost like slowly repeat it back so they don't think I'm the punitive.
Starting point is 00:08:12 It's almost like she's just gone, I want to be completely opposite to everyone else. Yeah, every ingredient. Don't get a coffee if you're getting a decaf. What is the point? Literally. Yeah, true. Before we go to Tash, what are we going to guess? Cue to your sweets.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I reckon she's a hottie. Okay, let's go look at it Everyone prefers hottie Three, two, one Hi, Hardy Tasha Baird me She's from Parming Tash the hottie
Starting point is 00:08:38 She responded Didn't even say her name She responded Yeah Hey how's things How's things going with you I heard that there's like a shortage Of ED nurses and stuff
Starting point is 00:08:49 It must be A bit hectic in your industry At the moment Shortage of nurses period Yeah Is it stressful Because I heard There's a hospital
Starting point is 00:08:56 an Auckland North Shore Hospital where they had to declare a state of emergency a few days ago because there's not enough nurses to cover patients. Oh, it wouldn't surprise me. Every day, eh? We just go to work, try her hardest, go home. And hope that the government changes.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Do we take you off the sand by last, Tash, because we'd hate to pull another nurse out of the front line and send you to Olivia D. No. No, Tash, the hot nurse needs to be at Olivia Dene. Yeah, she deserves to party. She does. Let her hair down.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Okay, so you, your husband and two mates. Two kids. That'd be your four if you win. Yeah, sure would. Okay, well, best luck. You're on the standby list. October 17 is her gig in Western Springs, Auckland. We'll fly you up or down, depending on where you are, put you up as well for the weekend.
Starting point is 00:09:45 September 7 is the morning that we announced the winner for that. All you need to spend is a little bit of spending money. Everything else is covered, right? Yeah, true, true. And if you're taking your kids... That'd be cheap dates, I'd imagine. Just a few raspberry lemonade. Yeah, a couple of hot dogs.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Yeah. Okay, coming up next, do you want to do New Music Friday or Things We Hate? Whether keeping vibes up or vibes down, Dan? Vives down. Okay, and things we hate next, let's get it all off our chest. Clint McGinn Dan. Edge Breakfast. The Edge.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Clint Megan Dan's Scandal. In Scandal this morning, Harry Stiles played a tribute to Dolly Pardin with I Will Always Love You. And he kind of just stood there His eyes closed I saw one of Lely Chris Stapleton He did that as well
Starting point is 00:10:46 But sung it Oh nice Yeah Harry lazy And Zara Larson has spoken out About why she didn't go for Best New Artist in the Grammy She said I was speaking to my former label About this and they were like
Starting point is 00:10:55 Yeah we're going to see if we can put you in Best New Artist for the Grammys And I said I don't want that That would downplay the 13 years of me being an artist I'm not a new artist Just because she's She's been around for years many, many years, but she's just popped into, like, big fame. If you go away and come back, can you be a new artist?
Starting point is 00:11:13 Or you mean that she never really did enough initially in her career? That's what they were kind of alluding to. And she was like, no, I don't want to win best new artist. Good on her. Yeah. She's got her to tear up forever. She's never around forever. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:11:24 We've been in this building for how long? Five, six years. And I remember we were playing Zara Larson before we moved into this building. Yeah. That's how I know how long. Yeah, lush life, right? Yeah, she's been around for years. Yeah, I just want to be part of your family.
Starting point is 00:11:37 How old's this? Clean is? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, piss off. Piss off. And this was a hit. It wasn't just like a background song. Yeah, and she said the former label, I'm guessing.
Starting point is 00:11:49 For a reason. Good on it. Yeah. Just hit. In Auckland. Clint, Meg and Dan. All right, let's get it off our chest, although we did find out yesterday when we were like, you know what, it's good to have a vent.
Starting point is 00:11:59 Talk about the things we hate. And then move on with your Friday. And then Meg looked into it and turns out winging and moaning can actually make you angrier. Yeah. Unless you do it on national. radio, in which case it's good. So, 0,800 at the edge. You just tell us things that piss you off, things that great you, things that annoy you.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Could be people, could be items. Do you know what? Just anything. Bars and restaurants that don't have a QR code so I can just order food without bringing somebody over. And I just scan it, just scan it, order the food and it's done, it's on its way. It doesn't excuse me and take the order and then they get repeat it back. And I go, no, no, that's not it.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Oh, no, I'm an opposite. Really? I think it's because I like to be able to ask, what are the best things of the menu, what's the special today? What can I change out? I think you can still do that. I think you can still do that with a QR coded your table, but I just like the option
Starting point is 00:12:41 if I don't want to talk to people. You just hate people? You want people, waitresses to lose their jobs. So if you're like Clint and hate people, this is the segment for you. Oh, 800 the Edge. All right, what is it that you hate? We've got a $50 paddock to pantry grocery voucher. We'll give away to someone next on Edge.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Listen live weekdays from sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Things we hate. It's nice to vent sometimes, although supposedly it's not good for your mental health. Makes you angrier, according to studies and science.
Starting point is 00:13:09 We ignore that. Well, as long as you get it out of your system, you know, you push it and then leave it. Yeah, it's the ruminating that is not good for you. Okay. I want to have a go this morning, and this is, I know they have a purpose, and I'm sure there's going to be people listening and go,
Starting point is 00:13:23 oh, you can't say that. Reward schemes, I hate them with every fibre of my body. Every time I have to swipe a card, every time I have to do something to get a discount or get something free. I'm sick of it. There's like 500 different ones now. Where you're like, swipe your flyby's card.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Oh, no, if it is rich enough to not care about discounts. Actually, I'm kind of with them because you go to a supermarket and then they go, do you have your card? And then when you do scan your card, you just save $9. Just give me the groceries cheaper because the card's free. Everyone can have one. Just give me it. Just give everybody the discount across the board. I see what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:13:58 I accidentally got logged out of mine when I got my new phone because you can get them as like apps now. And I didn't have it. I was like, oh, sorry, I don't have it. And, no. Okay. I asked that. I asked that and they said, no, we don't have a store car because it's now personal points for each person. Oh, piss off.
Starting point is 00:14:11 And I was gutted because there were savings. It's got to the point now where everywhere you go, everywhere you shop, there's some sort of little reward scheme. I'm sick of it. And you know why they're doing it? To mine your data. Okay, now you sound like a boomer. Okay, I don't like places
Starting point is 00:14:27 that go, sorry, we don't take cash. What do you mean? Cash is king. Especially Eden Park and arenas when they've got games on. Isn't it legal tender? I know. You can't not take cash, I don't think. I'm going to sound awful probably, but I know it's your job,
Starting point is 00:14:45 and I know you're probably getting told that you have to do it. Just leave me alone to browse when I walk into the store. When somebody comes up in Australia where they go, you're okay. What if you want a hand or something? Then I will come to you. I will come to you if I need a hand. But when they're this and then they're going through the sales and then we've got this.
Starting point is 00:15:02 And if you haven't seen we've got this over here, I'm like, oh my gosh, now I want to look at. Now I want to leave so badly. I just wanted to have a look. I think it's fine if they come up and they go, can I help you with anything? You go, I'll sing out if you'll need something. Then they leave you.
Starting point is 00:15:13 It's when they come back and they go. Again and again. Just letting you know, today is 50% off all G-strings. And you're like, oh. And Dan, I think, no, I've got plenty of those. How long do you reckon is too long for a voice note? You know, annoying voice notes that are just too long. Over 10.
Starting point is 00:15:30 It cuts you off at 10. Over 10 minutes? Not on what's at. You're meaning 10 seconds, surely. 10 minutes. 10 minutes. Well, yeah. No, I think anything over 4 is annoying.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Oh. Yeah. I'd say anything over 30 seconds is a podcast. Producer. I think three. Like, if I see 3, I'm like, no, I'm not listening to that. You guys, all boys. Girls leave each other like little podcast.
Starting point is 00:15:51 I look forward to my girls' podcasts. I wake up in the morning. I'm like, oh my God, look at that. Nine minutes of gosh. Actually, Liam, who's an Irish listener, any podcast, this. If you listen to this, bro, you're 18 and a half minute voice in it. You sent the other day is too long. Liam, that is mental, man.
Starting point is 00:16:05 That is, I don't know. Sometimes I have to put him in 1.5 speed. Can't do it in two times because he's Irish and it gets hard to work out with his time. I work in radio and couldn't talk by myself for 18 minutes. 18 minutes. That's crazy. Also, anyone else is annoying? Oh God, I hope.
Starting point is 00:16:21 I hope the moms of the daughters that I coached their football team. If you're in a parents group chat when it comes to kids sports and then someone can't play because they're sick and then someone else ping's going, oh, that's no good, what she got, Ping. Oh, she's got influenza A, ping. Oh, my daughter had that. Oh, I hope she rests up. You know what, I tried ping. It's like, take the personal chat of the group.
Starting point is 00:16:43 This is for football times, kickoffs, and who's playing and who can't? That counts for work chats as well. Any work chats, if it's not work, I'm not interested. Okay, what about you, Bia? What do you want to vent about? What do you hate? I hate people hogging machines at the gym, and then they're just on their phones. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:17:01 For like the whole time. Yeah. Hey, look, the chat. chest press, it's not a place for you to sit to text your mates. Dad. Exactly. I just have a feel like you'd be that guy. Did you mean the bench press?
Starting point is 00:17:11 I don't know what it is. The thing where you push it out and push it in again. The chess press. Yeah, chess press. Are you still doing the gym? I am. I know I'm doing a lot of swimming though. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Because I saw a McDonald's bag in your car when I parked beside you this morning. Oh, but when you go to the gym, it means you can have more McDonald's. That's why I do it. It's all about our balance, baby. It is. Your favourite radio show And podcast four Edge Breakfast
Starting point is 00:17:37 Clint Meggin Dan This is the Overthinkers podcast This was an extra extra Overthinkers podcast that never got released Well it wasn't even part of it We were just having a chat off here And Clint turned the mic song I just don't think I ever turned them off
Starting point is 00:17:51 After the podcast record actually We sort of finished it And they just stayed on And so even if you do listen to our O overthinkers podcast After the show finishes Thank you Appreciate that you go to the extra effort
Starting point is 00:18:03 to get more Clint Meg and Dan Here's even more Clint, Meg and Dan Mostly Meg and Dan though arguing about who would win in a fight If these two ever got into the ring together Also feel free to have
Starting point is 00:18:15 Impot into this You can text us Obviously that you think I would win in a fight over Dan If Well just have a serious think about it Really serious Like a feral Meg versus Dan
Starting point is 00:18:26 Ferrell Dan Oh you're both feral We're both feral Okay Skin on skin Anything goes I'd fuck you up No you wouldn't
Starting point is 00:18:33 Skin on skin. What, if you were nude fighting? It doesn't matter. Have you in, I'd say, 40 minutes. You'd be dead. 13 minutes? 30. 30 minutes.
Starting point is 00:18:42 No, there's no way. Again, as I said, my brother used to bet money. Ha! I didn't flinch it at all. You could look back. Did I flinch? You'd be puffing because I'd tie you out because I'd work to my advantage. I'd know you'd get a little bit like puffed out.
Starting point is 00:18:58 You'd gas you. And then what I'd do is you'd be sort of sitting there thinking that I'm gassed as well and I'd play it up. I think you would end up in a little fetal position. You'd actually be afraid. I would go disgustingly feral. And then you'd come over and, Ha!
Starting point is 00:19:12 Definitely didn't flinch it that time. Honestly, I reckon we could crowdsource enough money for a fight-for-life type scenario, UV Meg. Oh yeah, but she'd get me on a technicality or something because she's just a better puncher. I'm not talking about... Sorry, has he just admitted that I can beat him? You haven't seen me roundhouse kick.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Go on. Okay. Go on. I think you went round the wrong way. It's now almost been banned from us talking about because it winds me up so much because it actually passes me off that you think you could beat me. And that's your weakness.
Starting point is 00:19:47 You'd get all worked up and puffed. I don't use that. Stop say it'll be puffed. Yeah, you said you'd take you 30 minutes to beat me. If you could beat her, it wouldn't take you that long. No, no, I'd be enjoying it. You know, like, you know when a cat catches a bird and they just play with it before they eat it?
Starting point is 00:20:01 That's me with me. I can't even do it anymore. It's so fun of next week. We get you guys patted up with head gear and really soft gloves and see what happens. I can't really. You can't have a girl. Unless she hits me first. The votes are in early.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Anita says Meg would win. Hands down. Nicole says Meg. Danny says 100% Meg would win. Can't read Hayden's text, but it didn't give us a laugh, bro. It's all the... It's all the girls voting for the girls. And now I get that, but where's my boys at?
Starting point is 00:20:36 Well, I don't think boys would text and say Dan would kick Meg's ass. True. Good on your lad. Meg would win. Another Meg. Thank you. I don't even need to hear it. Meg all day, says Stacy.
Starting point is 00:20:46 You haven't got one vote yet. Paul said Dan could fight for six minutes, let alone dirty. Now, come on. Pick up for you, Matt. And someone said me will win. She's not that boring. Easy money next. Thousand a buck on the line going in.
Starting point is 00:21:02 weekend. Come on, you can do it. You hear everyone else dropping the ball and you go, oh my God, let me throw on the phones. I wait under the edge. Easy money. Time for your favorite game. Easy money. Right, 30 seconds on the clock. Give us 10 answers this morning starting with
Starting point is 00:21:18 the letter K and the cash is yours. You can't pass. You just can't give us the same answer twice. We haven't had a win in a while, guys. It's getting back to like we need a win. All right, well, Jess says she could do it. All right, Jess. You ready? Ready? Yep, I'm ready. Oh, you're getting married in Bali.
Starting point is 00:21:36 All right, that's fun. Thousand bucks on the bar. It'd be cool. All right. Yeah, definitely. A thousand dollars would almost pay for the whole wedding in Bali. Yeah, it's about five grand's worth of money in Bali. All right.
Starting point is 00:21:45 A thousand years old dollars. K for one K. Jess, let's go. You ready to kick it off? Yep. All right. Give me an animal. Kangaroo.
Starting point is 00:21:57 A food item. Kinna. A body part. Knees. A brand and. Calogs. A four-letter word? Keep.
Starting point is 00:22:13 A TV show. Keep it on the Kardashians. Something you can drink. Pass. An occupation. Oh, Jess. Cambodcia or Kava or Kaluah, I guess. It was a classic pass, and it throws you.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Again. Do you know what else? It does. Pace to listen to The Edge, because I'm pretty sure Meg read that list like a few days ago. I think so, too. I think we've had that recently. Have you noticed a few years? Today's was maybe a repeat too.
Starting point is 00:22:49 So, I don't know. Hey, but that's the thing. You're right, Clint, if you listen, you would have had the answers. Yeah, yeah, you go, hold on, I remember this list. All right, back again at 8 o'clock, another chance for you to win for a thousand bucks. That was a solid effort, though, Jess. That really was. Hey, you might have missed the imposter all this week, actually,
Starting point is 00:23:05 if you're not someone that does listen after 8 o'clock. We had three people all saying that they had celebrity encounters and were sent on wild goose chases. Of course, only one of them was telling the truth. The other two impostors. Did we as a nation. managed to give the $500 to the right person. Oh, we fooled like last week.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Find out next. This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys? Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. One truth. Two lies. And $500. Clint Megan.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Three stories, two of them lying. One of them is the truth. This has been the hardest week. We've done it. True, I agree. Previous weeks. I still don't know. We awarded the cash to the truthful story week one.
Starting point is 00:23:51 We unfortunately gave it to an imposter who was a bloody good liar last week. We need to find out who is telling the truth. I'll give you a very quick recap of the three stories and then let us know. All right, this was Max meeting one of Meg's idol, Stanley Tucci. I've moved to London. I ended up being a runner on a San Pellegrino ad.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Stanley Tucci comes to us as like the runners and goes, oh, I need some apple. Like PA was like, yo dude, you go drive, find some organic apples. And we spent overall like two days Trying to find him these apples. A two-day apple hunt for Stanley Tucci? It seems unlikely. Oh, was it a Rosie story of a celebrity encounter?
Starting point is 00:24:30 I once came face-to-face with Harry Styles. I saw him riding on a lime bike in London. I've always wanted a Harry-Stytoothed. If I get him a Sharpie and he can write signature or something on me, then I can get that tattooed. The story went on, she found one. He drew some sort of a bird on her arm, and she got it tattooed the same day.
Starting point is 00:24:50 I don't know. And me and Jacob yesterday says, no, no, no. Those two are lying because this happened to him. So I was in London and I came face to face with Gordon Ramsey, a cameraman for a travel blogger. And we saw him in an airport. We went up to him and started yapping. He eventually challenged us to go find a better beef Wellington than he can make in two days.
Starting point is 00:25:14 That one's kind of believable, right? What are you going, Danny? Oh, I'm actually quite torn. Like I've listened to every week's ones But I might be leaning more towards Is it Max the first one? Stanley Tucci in the Apple Hunt Over two days?
Starting point is 00:25:29 Yeah He was quite confident I mean if you're lying You have to have some Unless he's a little good liar And he can just cover it Yeah Currie has said the Ramsey story is a lie
Starting point is 00:25:40 So that's the final story That's Jacob Okay And it's quite neat She had the San Pellegrino fact But you know There was a lot of things going into it So are we going to go with Max?
Starting point is 00:25:49 Yeah Okay We'll go with Max. What, so we're saying Max is telling the truth. Telling the truth. Got it wrong before, though, haven't we? Getting him on? Max.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Max. Hello? There he is. Max, good morning. Good morning. Okay. Well, congratulations, first of all. Max, we are choosing you as the person who is telling the truth.
Starting point is 00:26:12 So you've just won yourself $500. That's that you get it. Congratulations. Amazing. Amazing. Thank you so much. But there's still one little bit of housekeeping. We need to...
Starting point is 00:26:22 get to. Yeah, let's give you the floor. I'm so nervous. Max? I just want to say thanks to the 500 bucks, guys, because I truly am an honest, upstanding citizen, and I'm not trying to put all over your eyes. Look, I'm a huge fan of Stanley Tucci and meeting him on TV set was lying about the apples and everything like that.
Starting point is 00:26:41 It's a story I've been telling the past few years, or maybe I haven't. That being said, I can tell you guys that I am I'm telling Which was? Yeah, I reckon there's going to be an influx of calls this morning to 0,800 new cops Because people are like, I could be a police officer
Starting point is 00:27:13 Because we've just figured out this case Well, if you want to tell us your story For $500 next week, potentially, text story to 3343 If you have one that you think is worth that kind of money Or if you think you're just a bloody good liar, you can text the word lie to 33443 and be an imposter next week Only producer car will know the rest of us will all be in the dark.
Starting point is 00:27:32 We'll give you the story. You just need to tell it well. Yeah. Story or lie to 33443? Clint is going to America soon. You have to now give up your social media to be able to get into the country. Yeah, to get a visa.
Starting point is 00:27:47 They require your social media handles. Yeah, and I've gone through yours, Clint. We've kind of had a look. Dan, are you planning on going to America anytime soon? Is the right answer no? Well, if the answer was yes, would he struggle? Hmm. I've got some stuff
Starting point is 00:28:03 Cliff big and Dan Edge Breakfast Dan I know Dan your best friend lives over there and I thought maybe Dan will be planning to go so I better get ahead
Starting point is 00:28:13 I am planning on maybe going over for a week next year to New York to see my friend Chris How awesome would that be Well they're going to be Looking back through the last time that you're in America
Starting point is 00:28:21 Which you did quite a few posts about I did actually In fact we did a lot of Trump stuff Because we went over as a podcast We used to do a podcast Called the Idiot's Guide And we went over there
Starting point is 00:28:32 And there was It was when Trump was first getting inaugurated the first time he was president. And we didn't know how crazy he was. Yeah. I mean, how fine he is. Clint, honestly. He might be listening.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Be careful. Okay, so what I have here are just a few photos, and I can describe the photos, but it's obviously mostly the captions that we're looking at. We've got a photo of Dan on fighting Celine Dion Star. Oh, yes, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fine photo. You just said, saw Celine a bit earlier than expected today. Hashtag nerd, hashtag Celine, hashtag Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Hashtag USA, hashtag America, hashtag American road trip, hashtag Hollywood, hashtag Hollywood star, hashtag Hollywood star thing. You read it at me for the hashtags. All right, then there's another one. How many was that? 19? It's just another one. This one is just, I think it's just a photo of America, which is, like, the scenery. You said textbook, Texas.

Starting point is 00:30:13 No, but close. That would have been good. Vindy machine prize. Give one guess. Hashtag shots fired. I don't know. No, you did hashtag guns. Hashtag America.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Hashtag USA. Hashtag Alabama. Hashtag Bareta. Hashtag God bless America. Hashtag God bless America. Hashtag shooting. Hashtag gun porn. Oh.

Okay, I think what we've realized here is I like a hashtag or I did. Whoa, and you used to say, he wasn't taking digs at me, me for posting about three hashtags. And I take that back, Clint. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I was a recidivist. You're the hashtag king. Hashtag king over here. Let's get that trending. Hashtag king. What like a hash brown king these days? Yes, I am. You think I had a hash brown this morning.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Lizard Dex, hashtag how many hashtags? and Nathan Dex, hashtag ooh Dan. I love them. Okay, producers, sorry. It's been a fun week. Our producer Brady is tasked with putting the best bits
Starting point is 00:31:41 into a bit of a highlight reel for you on a Friday. Hashtag highlight. And we'll get to it. Hashtag next on hashtag the end. Get your Clint Meggin' Dan Fax. Shall we look back at the week that it has been?
Starting point is 00:31:52 Please. It's been a week. It's been a big week. It is. Fun week. It's been a really fun week with your boys. All right. Let's see who is MVP
Starting point is 00:31:58 and who we could have done without this week. According to our producer Brady. Giday, it's Brady here and welcome back to another producer's diary. It's been a fun week on the show. I'll get you started with this clip of Clint Meg and Dan out of context. I just dump my load
Starting point is 00:32:14 and then leave. Clint Megand Dan got caught talking about fetishes in Norty 640 and Clint's fetish may surprise you. I do love big yellows. Yeah, he does. You feel other people's yellow. Really? Because I see someone. I see it. I see someone. And yours are very small.
Starting point is 00:32:27 I know. I know. Big ones. Dad's got good ones you can cling on to. Yeah, have a look at these. Untouched, well, non-pierced. Do you like this? Yeah. I'm going to feel them.
Starting point is 00:32:35 You want to give them a little type. Or if you put your finger underneath and then wiggle them back and forth. Look at that. You want to. It does make me want it. A couple of virgin earlobs. Oh, Clip. I never knew you were like this.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Good thing. My ears are squashed and small because I'm wearing headphones for about 12 hours a day. Meg hasn't been doing much to help herself in terms of her old lady persona either. If you could get locked in anywhere overnight on your own, Surely be rainbow dead. I think a mall. I'd like to be in a mall. You can just try out all the beds.
Starting point is 00:33:03 Is that it? Meg drives out the first bed falls asleep. Oh, I was a waste. See if you can figure out the reason as to why the boys are telling Meg to visit all of these countries. You'd start off in Ghana, then you'd head to the Republic of Congo, then maybe go to Ecuador. And then the D.R. of Congo. So you go back to Congo. You should be coming back with a limb.
Starting point is 00:33:25 And then you finish in Sudan. Thanks for that, boys. Not my first idea over I was even to become single. I'm just going to go do a world tour of the biggest. And now it's time for the easy money blunder of the week and poor old Vanessa wasn't filled with confidence. This might be the worst one yet. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Time for your favourite game. Easy money. No, you can do it, Vanessa. The letter is T. Give me one of the five senses. Feeling. Oh, starting with T. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Okay. We'll start again. We'll start again. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. It's false start. Here we am. Here we go. One of the five senses.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Talking. We're going to stop you there, Vanessa. Like touch, taste. The touch and taste are the only two. Should we start again? Just say touch and then we'll keep going. Okay, here we go. One of the five senses.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Touch. A herbal spice. Time. A musician. Um. Taylor Swift. An animal. Big.
Starting point is 00:34:21 I'm not. All right. We'll stop you there. Easy money's been going on for what now. like a month and a half and we've still only had one win. Come on, guys, you can do it. Now, I knew Dan was best mates with the boss, but I didn't know he was this close.
Starting point is 00:34:34 We got invited to a Father's Day event with Kimmel's Weirhouse. I invited my dad, and then I've been up, Dan's invited his boss. And the sad thing is, I don't even think he's coming. Because I was like, they gave us plus ones. And I was like, I don't have anyone that's a plus one. I don't know the boss was your dad. Do you call him, dad?
Starting point is 00:34:49 He's been more of a father figure than my actual dad. Sorry for bringing that one back up, Dan. it's one of the most common skills in radio talking up to the post. Here's an example from Clint. 90640 necks on the edge. But I'm not sure if Clint and Meg went to the same broadcasting school. Here's Meg's a tent.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Is he lying or telling the truth? And I do not need an energy drink. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. And we'll wrap it up with a hit the spot. We did Alex Warren Passenger on Tuesday after Alex cancelled his concert for being sick. I'm fortunate for those of you that were meant to go
Starting point is 00:35:27 but the team still gave it a red-hot bash Hit the jams Clinton I would die for you by the way Not that you would mind But I try I try I try I try
Starting point is 00:35:42 I try For the producers' diary this week Have a good week In you bloody legends And up the wise Up the worst Thank you producer Brady They're going to be
Starting point is 00:36:03 taking on the nights, 4 o'clock Sunday. Second to last game of the regular season. Top of the table. Speaking of games, a different type of gaming. Everybody is talking about this morning with the ECG, sorry, GTA6. The kind of play-through has been released on Netflix. Yeah, 30 minutes on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:36:20 17, I think, percent more sign-ups to Netflix overnight just to see the trailer. Really? That's wild, man. That's wild. All right, I will catch up with me ex-husband guy who does a podcast, extremely casual gamers who was tasked with the homework of watching Netflix this morning
Starting point is 00:36:37 whilst also trying to juggle being a stay-at-home dad and looking after his two quarters. My kids are covered in pen. Yes, truly. You turn away for one second. Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan. Professionals, we are professionals. Talking about GTA 6 this morning Netflix released 30 minutes of a bit of a play-through. We've got a clip here that I think has been bleeped quite a lot.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Yo, Ray, these two say that for booby. Already told that. What the fuck going on, man? He seriously sent y'all over here right now. We're just here to collect, man. Why he ain't come collect? You ain't asked yourself that. No.
Starting point is 00:37:16 So, obviously, a lot of people taking the day off for the game when it does release. Meg's husband just sent her a calendar invite. Yeah, he did. Meg was really worried about one thing in particular. What's going to happen to the market? The financial market. You guys could hear me drown.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Neither of you save me, so I don't want to talk to either of you about that. It's a question that everybody has asked. I can tell you actually. So it's sold already. This is of a week ago. 800 million dollars worth of pre-orders, which is 4.38 million pre-orders of the game itself. Insane. Incredible. Guy Mansell, my husband, just sent me a calendar invite that says Thursday,
Starting point is 00:37:53 the 19th of November from 7pm until Sunday the 22nd. 8 p.m. He is out. Tamblane. DDA 6. Good morning, Guy. Morning, yeah, if you could just take the kids down to your mum's house in Wellington or something so that I don't get anyone interrupting me because after watching that trailer, I am insanely hyped for this game even more so than I already was because holy shit, it looks good. Now, Guy, you host a gaming podcast called Extremely Casual Gamers,
Starting point is 00:38:20 so you're the voice of this in New Zealand. Give us your quip thoughts on the gameplay trailer. So basically, if you loved Grand The Thorno 5, it's like that, on steroids. It looks visually amazing. The trailer gave us an insight into a little bit more about the main two characters, which are Lucia and Jason. It gave us actual gameplay because we've just been getting cinematic trailers so far. The last trailer we got was in May last year. So we've been pretty starved for content. And this is showing things like, it sounds very basic, but it shows how the game is going to run, things like driving, things like shooting, things like all the
Starting point is 00:38:57 all the side quests that you can do and what it will actually look like when you play the game because so many games when they release trailers, these cinematic trailers which look amazing. Yeah, but you don't know how you... But when you get the gameplay, you're like, oh, that's kind of shit,
Starting point is 00:39:11 but this looks phenomenal. I was much better than I expected it to look like. It looks incredible. It's so detailed down to the, like, opening of a fridge and seeing stuff you can like... Choose a drink. I like that. Yeah, you can watch TV in the apartment and actually sit down and watch TV.
Starting point is 00:39:26 She's stopping me, you're killing me this morning. I've honestly not meaning to be funny. So, are there any different things compared to the last one that you could now do that you weren't able to do last time, or do we still not know? I mean, there definitely will be. Obviously, what you see in those 26 minutes is a lot, but it won't be even scratching the surface of what you'll be able to do in the game. Even just like you mentioned, the things like grabbing a drink and drinking from the fridge,
Starting point is 00:39:51 that will serve a purpose. And then there will be other examples of small things like that, that the player can do so that each play through is specifically unique. Okay, well guys, there's been so much hype around this game that I thought
Starting point is 00:40:05 it could never live up to it. And you've seen the trailer on Netflix now and you think it actually will. Negative? Oh, 100%. 100%. This game is going to change the landscape of video games for the next 15 years. Grant the Thorough 5, which came out in 2013,
Starting point is 00:40:20 is still one of the biggest games ever. And the same people that made Grand The Thorough, they made Red Dead Red Dead Redempties. 2, which came out in 2018, people are still playing their game and discovering new things that the developers put in for the first time. So there's just, there's so many things that we'll be able to do in this game. We'll be talking about it for a decade. Yeah, it's so exciting.
Starting point is 00:40:39 But Meg, obviously, you have some concerns. What's going to happen to the market, the financial market? I'm sick of all of you. So thank you guys. And if you want to listen to even more breakdowns into gaming, the gaming industry and what are going to be the releases and interviews and bits and pieces, you can take. ECG to 3343 and I'll send you back
Starting point is 00:40:58 the Extremely gamers podcast. Yeah, who's looking after your daughters right now? I can hear one crying. Elsa and Anna. Oh yeah, great. Yeah, that are the best. Those two are so good. But how is it going to affect the market?
Starting point is 00:41:13 Easy money in 15 minutes. Let's get your thousand bucks into your bank account going under the weekend. That'll affect the market. Won't it? Listen to your favorite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint McGon Dan. The Edge.
Starting point is 00:41:25 For you, give us a bell. let us know what is the work around that you've found so you don't have to break, sorry, you don't have to replace an item in your house that is pretty much fall into bits and you should be replacing it. It'd be like, can't afford to you right now. I've found a solution. It still kind of does what it should. Yeah, we love hearing stories like this from you.
Starting point is 00:41:40 So give us a text or a call now. I've got one that I just realized a couple of days ago, this is the sort of laziness that I'm working with and with myself. So we have an electric garage door, one of those automatic ones, read press a button in the car and it opens up. Must be nice. It must be nice. And it's got to the point where the remote battery, I believe, is running low.
Starting point is 00:42:03 And so every time, probably for the past six months, maybe a year now, I've, instead of just pressing the button and it goes up, which it used to do, I now have to drive into my driveway. And you do that thing where you get the remote and hold it up to your head, so your head acts as like an antenna. I've heard that with people that can't, like, say if you've got a car with an alarm, and you're trying to unlock your car, they'll hold it to their forehead,
Starting point is 00:42:26 and there's something magnetic in your head that... Boost the signal. This is how lazy I am. I'm so lazy that I won't replace the battery that's probably like $6 and two minutes out of my day to replace it. But instead I've just been going for six months of just holding it up to my head and pressing...
Starting point is 00:42:42 It must work really well then if it does that. I've never known that. I don't know what you do. I've never heard of that. Well, my wife was in the car yesterday. This is the first time she's noticed. She's like, what are you doing? I'm like, oh, the battery's running low.
Starting point is 00:42:52 She's like, how long have you doing that? six months. Makes you feel like a real crappy Avenger. It does. Is that why people wear colanders on their heads? You know, from like conspiracy theories and stuff. I don't know why they do that. I don't think it's to open their garage door. No, I just, I didn't realize there was like,
Starting point is 00:43:11 why would your head help in tenants? I didn't. Anyway, Nikki, good morning. Thanks, me. Hey, Nikki. Good morning. How are you? Good, good. What's the workaround that you've managed to, fine so you don't have to replace the item. So we've got a vacuum cleaner
Starting point is 00:43:27 that did cost a wee bit of money when we first bought it and the long arm piece when you're vacuuming is broken in the middle part. It keeps kind of going down when you're vacuuming and so I've had to shove a piece of cardboard in the middle to keep it up if I can't really afford to
Starting point is 00:43:42 buy the new arm piece or a new vacuum cleaner. Yeah, a vacuum or two. That'd be so annoying if you're vacuuming and every time you push it it just goes smaller. Yes, exactly and I'm already short and it's still a pain. Let me ask, Nikki, is it the brand that starts with the D&Ns with Ison?
Starting point is 00:44:00 Oh, no, we've had one of those before and that's why it's just a real struggle. It's like, I'm not replacing it. They just cost a fortune. It's the one that starts with an M. Oh, I love my Dyson. Yeah, I love it. I do need a new one.
Starting point is 00:44:12 It's getting very old. So I do need to get a new model from new model Dyson. If I was going to get one, I'd probably got Dyson. They're one of those items that I think a lot of people are using as a workaround because they're not. They last a maximum of like two years now. Hey, Nikki.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Nikki will give you a $50 paddock to pantry voucher. They deliver cheaper groceries, better meat, and fresh quality produce New Zealand-wide. Yeah, and I see why I've never heard about that antenna thing with the car keys. Because somebody texts and said it only works with people with an oversized ego. So that's why I've never heard about it. Oh, I should use you, Clint. I should use you as my antenna. Thank you for that.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Kelly's going to try it, though. She's oh my God, I need to try that. I stand there for five minutes trying to get it to open. Hold it to your forehead. Yeah, but it only works. You've got an ego. Yeah. If you're humble, it's not going to work.
Starting point is 00:44:54 All right, what's hanging on by a thread in your house? And you go, it's all good. I'll get it to replace one day. But now, I've found a workaround. Oh, eight under the edge or you can fire us a text on 3344. It's... It's breakfast, Clint McGahn. Edge.
Starting point is 00:45:07 Right now, though, we're talking what's hanging on by a thread where you've just found a workaround. So for the time being, you're like, it kind of don't need to replace it just yet. One of our faves is the woman who, every time she mowed her lawns, couldn't work out how to turn the lawnmower off. so she just left it running until it ran out of fuel after every time.
Starting point is 00:45:26 I guess you get better at working out how much fuel you would need so it didn't have to run all day. I think she said that there was something broken, whether it be the throttle thing or something or the kill switch was broken. So she couldn't turn it off. It was impossible. So good. The neighbours must love that. All right. Some texts coming in.
Starting point is 00:45:44 You know the pins that hold cupboard shelves together or in place, those little pins. One broke, one said of getting a little. another, I've got a chopstick. Hey, well, if it works for you, you know, and it's not, people aren't laughing when they come over for dinner. Why you've got a chopstick holding your things together? Nah, is doing light bulbs in the wardrobe and her house have blown and she's been using her phone light for the last two months. It's more the admin of getting a step ladder out than to change them.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Oh my gosh, she's just using up early in the dark and just running it across her wardrobe see what she wants to wear. I'd be the same. Yeah, that's easy. It's just another thing you have to do at some point. Change that light bulb. Someone's car boot won't stay. Like they can lift it open, but then if they let it go, it automatically shut. So they've got a broom in the boot. And then they just wedged the broom in there.
Starting point is 00:46:28 They've been doing that for two years. It's so hard when it's been working for you fine to spend the money on something. You're not going to notice any difference in. Chuck the broom there. Yeah, it's fine. And we were talking about how I use my head as an aerial for my garage door opener. So I hold my garage door opener to the chin. and then press it and it somehow beams that beam further.
Starting point is 00:46:54 And someone said that that's a scientifically proven thing that your head can act as an antenna for anything like remotes, anything like that. That amplifies the signal. It amplifies the signal and pushes it further. Isn't that interesting? That'd be on like a myth bustle or something, wouldn't it? That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:47:10 That was a great show back in the day. Meg had the hots for one of the old dudes. I didn't have the hots for them. What do you mean I had the hots for them? Which one, the guy with the funny beard? Yeah, the one with the walrus mustache. I cried when I met them and they felt extremely uncomfortable
Starting point is 00:47:23 properly. Like, it was really uncomfortable. They never had, like, women like cry over meeting them before until Meg. This text takes the cake as well. We're trying to get them on, but they said their oven door doesn't close properly. So they push a chair against it when they're cooking dinner. Nightmare. It takes ages to bake anything. I'm guessing because the seal's not right.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Meg, I don't want to make you emotional. It's just sad that those, I think they were just so iconic and apparently they never got along. They hated each other. They hated each other. Yeah, but that's what I heard as well. Couldn't get it. They'd go on separate flights to like engagements because they hated like traveling together. It was just joyful watching, Clint.
Starting point is 00:48:05 It was joyful watching. It was people figuring stuff out. It was when Google couldn't give you the answer? The guys were like, fine. We'll dedicate and a whole TV show to him. And Emma, you're the oven door person where your oven won't shut properly. How long have you been dealing with this situation? Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Honestly, probably up to a year now. Cooking is such an essential act to do every day. Ovens are so expensive. I know. It still works, though. It just takes a bit longer. But you don't have to replace the whole oven, I'd imagine. You could get a man round.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Or a woman. Or a woman. Well, a woman, yes, could fix an oven, I guess. And they come round and do it. I know. It's not that great of an oven, though. So we're kind of rather just replace it. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:48:49 We have had someone look at it. it's just not that easy. And they came over and they're like, it's better just to put a chair against it. Yeah. Well, I've got a song for Dan as well. I just imagine the oven guy to be a man. And he probably is.
Starting point is 00:49:10 Women are better at other stuff. Like what? Like anything. Like what? Flying panes. You have not said that. You have not said that women are going to fly planes. You got so nervous.
Starting point is 00:49:21 You said flying pains. And he got uninvited to a wedding, I think. I made a joke about if the pilot was a woman. and I got off. But I mean, that's a... It was a joke. All right, easy money next. You're just one of a thousand bucks going on to the weekend,
Starting point is 00:49:34 and then we've got a double pass for Bruno Mars to give away as well. So you want to give it a crack? Oh, 800 at the edge. We'll do it next. Easy money. One letter. 10 k degrees and just 30 seconds. Let's play.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Easy money. All righty, here we go. We'll put 30 seconds on the clock. You can pass if you do. and we've got time. We'll come back. You just kind of give us the same answer twice. Tee, it's for Sharnie. Well, Sharnie, you're playing with T's this morning.
Starting point is 00:50:09 Good morning. Morning, Sharnie. Okay. All right, we need a thousand bucks. Yes. And you'd put it towards your son's 18th birthday tomorrow. That's one hell of an 18th birthday. A thousand bucks.
Starting point is 00:50:21 It would be pretty epic, wouldn't that? Oh, what's your son's name, Shani? Declan. Declan. Have a blood of your birthday tomorrow. Dick. if you're listening, mate. Let's see if we can get your mum a thousand bucks. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:50:31 All right. Thank you. Give me a name. Tia. A sport. Tennis. A job. Pass.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Something in the ocean. Turtle. A bird. Oh, pass. A four-letter word. Tine. Instrument. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:51:00 It's so much. Pass. Something you can burn. Time. Time. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Time would be good, but you did use that for a four-letter word.
Starting point is 00:51:11 A job, a teacher, taxi driver Tyler, tattoo artist, a bird toi, two-kand-turkey, an instrument trumpet, trombone, tambourine tuba were the ones that we had. Thanks, Taney. Oh, thanks, Shani. Have the best day celebrating your boy. Yeah, and also tell Declan, how exciting for him to taste alcohol for the very first time tomorrow. The first time. I'm pretty sure it won't be his first time.
Starting point is 00:51:33 No, sure. At least she's on us. Against the lawyer. He wouldn't have done that, Shani. No, no way, Shardy. Hey, have a great day. Well done, Sharnie. That was a little bit of a tricky one today. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We've got your tickets to Bruno Mars coming up in just a few minutes.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Before that, though, we are looking for the greatest up the waz caller in New Zealand. He's a raining champ. He's a great of him yesterday. He is good. He's good as soon as his flare to it, doesn't he? Can you beat him? Oh, 800, the Edge. If you think you do a Blady, he got up the waze, head of their game. Sunday afternoon against the nights. It's the Edge is the home of Clint McGinn Dan.
Starting point is 00:52:03 The Edge. New Zealand is known for many things. But one thing we're known for more than others is our prowess in sayings and catchphrases. She's going to get 20 fucking wax. This is the fucking news. How does this day is on Sunday. Always blowing the pie, safer communities together.
Starting point is 00:52:21 Oh, yes, there's some goodies in there. But there's one catchphrase that reigns supreme over all the rest. And right now, it's more popular than ever. Yo, what's up? I'm Jack Black, and I'm here to say, Up the Wai! Yes, every true Warriors fan has said it, but which one said it best. This is Waz Wars.
Starting point is 00:52:46 On Wednesday, 9-year-old Harper was a carryover champ with this effort. After! She's the winner. Sadly, though, Harper was knocked out by yesterday's carryover champ Levi. Of the Wazah! So, can Levi make it through today's contestants? It's time to find out with round three. of Waz
Starting point is 00:53:08 Wars. Let's get it. Okay, the man that has holding that sweet Chris $5 note in his hands right now before we possibly take it away. Okay, should we let Levi go last. Oh, do you want to go last? I've just heard his recap.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Sure, okay, let's go instead to Ava. Morning Ava. Oh no, my phone's are broken boys. Morning, Ava. Ava from Hamilton. Morning. Are you there, Ava? You there?
Starting point is 00:53:40 Oh, hey, darling. Oh, so you're another child. Okay, so we've had a child before, and they didn't do too badly. So, Ava, you're 10 years old. Give us your best up the waz. Off you go. Too quick for me. Oh, did a great job, Ava.
Starting point is 00:54:00 A lot of gusto, though, babe. Okay. Well done. It's up there. I don't think it's up to the standards of Levi. We can't just give them special treatment for being a child. Going to Christchurch with Pax next. Morning Pax.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Are you a warrior supporter? Yep. Okay, so you love them. Are you ready to give us your best, your most gusto-filled up the waz? I am. When you're ready, the floor is yours. That was nice. Nice, Pax.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Yeah, it was good. It was good speed. Now, this is the point where we go back to Levi, the carryover champ. Levi, you've heard both those efforts from Ava and Pax. How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty confident. I feel like I've got a bit more money than them. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:54:44 Okay, because I'm worried that maybe yesterday was a fluke because you've got to back it up. You've got to perform. Okay, so we're going to give you one more chance now to beat PAC. So who I think is leading now? Give us your best. Up the Wahs. Thank you. You can't beat him. He's right.
Starting point is 00:55:05 He continues on. Now, the question is to us, is he go over the weekend or that's it? He gets the $5 note. I think he gets bragging rights for the greatest up the was call in the country according to the edge. I think so, too. Well done, Levi. You're the blueprint.
Starting point is 00:55:18 You are the champ. Levi, congratulations, brother. Thank you so much. All right, you hold there. We'll grab your details, get your prize out to you. Dan was also talking to his mates at Posty Plus. See if you can get a little prize pack going. Oh, yeah, Dan. Have you heard from them?
Starting point is 00:55:31 I haven't heard back yet, but, you know, we're still doing emails. They do a great selection of Wazgear as well. Yeah. Quite affordable prices. So they should be sitting at me now. All right, Bruno Mars. We've got Harrison from the Ashlander Show, joining us next. He flew all the way to New York to catch up with Bruno Mar.
Starting point is 00:55:48 We'll have parts of that interview for you next and then your chance to get your hands on a free double pass when he's here in March. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Hey lovers. Remember when we said we had a date?
Starting point is 00:56:05 Well, you might want to leave the door open for this one. Bruno Mars is coming to NZ for the romantic tour. Let's still catch a call. Gorkland, 2027. A little romance. A little 24K. and a lot of Bruno Mars. How good, Anne Harrison from the Ash London show.
Starting point is 00:56:33 He ended up spending a few days flying all the way to New York to bring us an interview. Incredible. Lots of pressure when you travel for an interview because it means that you're like, that's resting on this. You've gone all these miles. All that money spent. Yeah, and he nailed it. I think it was a great interview with Bruno Mars. And so many people will be looking forward to this concert.
Starting point is 00:56:50 Yeah. FK. Eden Park. Check it in the diary, 13th of March. If you missed that one, it's a Saturday. So, what did Harrison bring us back from the man himself? Is there any of your songs that are like significant moments to you in your life? Yeah, I mean, all of them come with like this little battle. Uptown Funk was crazy.
Starting point is 00:57:11 Really? Yeah, we flew around the world chasing me and Mark Ronson. We were chasing each other around the world. Like, you know, I got the drums. I got the bass line. I don't like that baseline. Let's do this baseline. You know, and it was non.
Starting point is 00:57:23 It was nonstop. So I was thinking emotional battle. You mean like battle to get it made. Battle, yeah, which is very emotional. Yeah, right, sorry. Because you start questioning yourself, you know, like what are we talking about? What are we doing? This is shit now.
Starting point is 00:57:36 We didn't have reached out. This is crazy. Very quick, it can go like that. And when you finally complete it, it's like, all right. Yeah. You know, we're done. Whether people are like it or not, we don't know. But whatever idea we had in our head, we completed it.
Starting point is 00:57:49 Yeah. You know. Timeless, bro. It's crazy to make timeless music. Thank you. Now, Harrison was supposed to be joining us. I wonder if he's still suffering from the jet lag. That could possibly be it.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Because he's not here. But he got quite saucy between Harrison and Bruno Mars at one point. Elephant in the room. Go for it. You're very sexy. You just are. You're very sexy. It's something about you.
Starting point is 00:58:13 You're romantic. I watched your concert the other night. And I genuinely felt like, you know what the girls used to be like watching the Beatles? Like, they'd faint. And they'd just lose their minds. And girls and guys are doing that at the concert. What is it? What's the... Have you got? Have you got just one little word of advice for me? Oh man, just believe in it.
Starting point is 00:58:31 Believe. Just believe in it. Just believe in it. Look in the mirror and say, yep. That's it. Nice. And I would say at least he can admit that there are some things that are unsexy about him, even if majority of him is sexy. Even when you're brunemezes? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Is there any, like, peek behind the curtain, is there anything that you do that is unsexy? Because they just can't imagine it. I just told someone that I have pictures of the Hulk in my dressing home, you know, because the dressing was very similar to this. And then all of a sudden you have to go out on stage and morph into the biggest version of you, you know? Oh, that's great.
Starting point is 00:59:09 Yeah, because I pictured like Mona Lisa paintings and all that kind of stuff. It's like, oh, Bruneioms with the Flash and stuff. It's just pictures of The Incredible Hulk. That's it, the Incredible Hulk. Oh, brother. Lock in, lock him, lock him. And what about, it was, it did a great job.
Starting point is 00:59:21 It would be nerve-wracking to fly all the way there, as I said before, and then having to do an interview with Bruno Mars. I think he nailed it. And you can listen to him on the Ash London Show on the afternoons. Yeah, and if you do want to school yourself, a free double pass to catch Bruno Mars at Eden Park on his romantic tour. No hoops. It's a Friday man. Call us 0-800-inch, and we're just going to send you for free.
Starting point is 00:59:41 Yeah, honestly, the greatest performance live. He is so good. Yeah, last time I saw him, I think, Duelepa opened for him. Such an incredible concert. She was amazing. He was incredible. for telling me about that. I was like, do a leaper. Yeah, for Bruno. It was a hell of a night.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Wow. That's epic. All right, you want to go for free? I'll wait home to The Edge. And we've got another little Feel Good Friday that I think is guaranteed to make you laugh next. Your favorite radio show? And podcast for Edge Breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan. Edge. Do you think he'd open with us?
Starting point is 01:00:15 I don't know. He should. Damn. Bruno Mars, yeah, 13th of March. Tickets go on sale. This time next week, so Friday 11 a.m. just before lunch. And the person that doesn't have to worry about getting in line, getting in Q, the stress of getting those tickets, saving the money is Stephanie. Yay!
Starting point is 01:00:34 What I'm Stephanie from Wellington. Love it. You're going to have to check it in the diary and make the trip up for the weekend. Oh, that's going to be so amazing. You guys are listening to you all the time. You're awesome. Oh, thanks. Stephanie.
Starting point is 01:00:49 Have the best time at Bruno. Oh well I'm going to. Thank you so much. I'm so excited. Yay, Stephanie. Thanks for listening, babe. So many people texting and being like, please, please, please, this is my dream concert. I want to go. I want to go. I should have called. He was so, so great. Last time I saw him. So this time, next week, if you want to grab your tickets.
Starting point is 01:01:09 Okay, let's get into this. I'll be good. I don't know about you, but I feel good. Feel good. Let's go. Megan and I both broke down before the show even started about this. Oh my God. Did you see the clips? You guys saw the clip. I didn't know it actually gone as viral as like you could now talk around about it in the office.
Starting point is 01:01:27 But a weatherman over in the States got the giggles. And he said he'd never gotten the giggles like he had gone the giggles before during his weather forecast. You think he would bail? Yeah. But he tries to keep going and, yeah, everyone just let him drown. And one of the greatest comments was he turned into the gingerbread man from Shrek. Oh, so he tried to like push on through. Didn't work.
Starting point is 01:01:49 Take a listen. The clip is long. I'll play a snippet of it. That could get its act together. Sorry, we're having a little bit of a scene off screen. As you can see, those cloudier conditions, a few of pants and some storms in some spots. We got to finish up this weather right now.
Starting point is 01:02:06 I'm so sorry. Plenty of those 70s, below 80s, and spots of Monday. I've never had this happen before. Oh, geez. All right, let me get it together real quick. I'm so sorry. I literally can't understand.
Starting point is 01:02:47 He does sound like the muffin man. He does. A little gingerbread. He does. The whole time, the comments section and myself watching, going, what was so funny? He actually ended up the next day having to do like an announcement on the show and explain himself, where the main broadcaster was like, can you please tell us why you got the giggles?
Starting point is 01:03:07 It was actually something that I was trying to. prank Josh on that kind of backfired. We were, uh, Zoe, our producer and I were making fun of Josh during the middle of our commercial break. And so I pulled it up on a video in the weather center. I thought it was a five second video, you know, quick sound just to egg Josh on a little bit. It turned out it was one of those hour long compilations where it just periodically plays it every couple of minute. I go do my live, you know, forecast after a minute, minute and a half of not hearing anything. And then 20 seconds and we start getting the, uh, Charlie Brown. Yeah. So this is the sound that he,
Starting point is 01:03:39 heard in his ear that he was meant to prank with his mate but didn't realize it was playing through his broadcast. Nightmare. Nightmare. That trio does feel a lot like our trio. Yeah, a little bit. Try to prank the other person and it backfires somehow. I feel like we're more professional than him though, which is just saying something.
Starting point is 01:04:01 I think we would just play a song. We wouldn't try and keep pushing through. My goodness. I'm like, Jack, help me please. Jack's like, no. No, you were meant to do this to me. Do the weather. All right, up next,
Starting point is 01:04:13 flat idol. We are getting flats around New Zealand to put together a song. We're going to battle them against each other. Greatest song win six tickets to R&V with accommodation. And to prove how easy it is, Meg spent 15 minutes
Starting point is 01:04:28 after work in her own time. Okay, look, it was a bit longer than that. I have written the lyrics, I chose the melody, like I hummed out the melody, and then I chose the style of the song. and then I sang it but then we could change my voice to somebody who's more AI
Starting point is 01:04:41 so it is my song but with a little touch of a help from AI Yeah So Meg hopefully we'll show you next how easy it is to create an original song So that you can enter And win RV tickets next
Starting point is 01:04:53 Yeah This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up Want to hear the guys off here And I'm a little looser Listen and watch their Overthinkers podcast It's Flat Idol This would get you the onsuit in the flat Have you won the tickets?
Starting point is 01:05:08 and you get all your flat to R&V, you deserve the onsuit. Yep, and so we are going to be getting people to register. So register your flat first off, flat to 3343. If you are selected as one of the five flats, you will be given a week to come up with a song. How you decide to write, produce and record that song is up to you. You've got a week. Meg's showing you how easy it is
Starting point is 01:05:30 because she's done exactly that in 24 hours. Now look, there are a couple of up-and-coming new female artists that I think are killing at the moment. one of them, Slater or another one, maybe Meg Mansel should be on that list. Because I'm very, okay, there are a few tweaks I could have done, but this is my first ever song that I have, I wrote the lyrics, I sung out the melody, I sung the lyrics, changed my voice, so it doesn't sound anything like me, but it's still my kind of cadence, and I chose what I wanted to sound like, which was like an 80s dubstep.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Now, be honest, Meg, was AI involved in any of this process? Most, all of it. Okay. So, yes. but I mean That's what you can do these days They can whip up songs that easily So do you think John Summitt
Starting point is 01:06:14 What are the chances He would play your song during his set Before or after? I think the chorus high High chance Yes because it's like a mantra And the more you say it The more you put it out to the universe
Starting point is 01:06:26 Okay so that's your thinking There's a mantra involved Okay Intro your song for the very first time Debuin on the edge Doesn't have a name Here we go make it up on the spot You and Me by Meg Mansell
Starting point is 01:06:36 Susie Cato's already got there, man. Yeah, mate. I'm standing up. It's a banger. Here she goes. Baby, it's the last dance. My body knows the moves. I need these nights to play up.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Let my parents disapprove. I've got a tent for Christmas. It's still in its pack. I was meant to get ahead, but Bill's piled up. Back to back. Music. It's our destiny. Oh, she's killed it.
Starting point is 01:07:32 You and me. I feel like you've gone too good. People will be hearing that. There's no way I can beat it. Wait, you've got a week to make a song if you're in our finalist for Flat Idol. Meg's whipped that up in like an afternoon. Well done.
Starting point is 01:08:30 A lot of help. Thank you so much for Tech Day. Let's get some feedback on that next. Clint McGill and Dan, Edge Breakfast. Flat Idol is kicking off shortly. If you are in a flat and you want to go to RMV for free, text flat to 3343. If you are one of our finalists,
Starting point is 01:08:44 tasked with putting together an original song. You'll have a week to do it, and Meg's proved it doesn't take a week. She made this in a day. It's our destiny. R&V. Yeah, if I only had sounded like that in real life, unfortunately, there was definitely some. So you just went like into the studio and went, R&V.
Starting point is 01:09:08 And then the AI did it. Wow. Isn't that incredible? It's incredible. All right, Mia, what do you reckon? Mia, what's your thoughts? Are you speechless? or are you got a bad phone line?
Starting point is 01:09:21 Could be either. Babe, is there anything you can't do? Oh, yeah. Yes, there's plenty. I can't sing. That's why I had to get that lady to do it. Who is that lady out of interest? You would never even know, babe.
Starting point is 01:09:35 I need that on my Spotify playlist. Mia, darling angel. I don't think we can. Imagine that if I suddenly become a Spotify artist. Crazy. Paul. Morning, guys. How's it going?
Starting point is 01:09:46 Morning, Paul. You put it on your playlist as well? Absolutely, I thought it sounded great Why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you? Danielle also into What did I call it you and me? I think it, yeah, go on.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Meg, absolute pop off, gal. Honestly, that says we're using the promos for R&V. Right? Struct the promos. Absolute vibe. She used to headline. She used to be on there midnight. Do you know what?
Starting point is 01:10:12 I honest to God, I mean, I know we just like laugh and make jokes and then we don't follow anything through. I reckon we could get somebody. on stage, even between John Summer and Netskai, just getting it played before Netskai starts as a vibe. Just get Mieg up there with a laptop. She doesn't need anything to spin.
Starting point is 01:10:29 She could pretend she's doing it. I'm just lipstick. Come in some tassels. Let's go. It's our destiny. Honestly, I think I'll review might pay for that. No, there's no way. Don't let them have it for free. Don't do anything. What's the saying? If you're good at something, don't do it for free. Don't forget. This is your chance to win tickets
Starting point is 01:10:52 to R&V six of them and a com all sorted. Yeah. Next week. VIP Vintage Club upgrade as well. The last ever R&V and Gizzy. Flat to 3343. Good luck beating Meg song though.
Starting point is 01:11:11 Well done, Meggy. All right, producer's diary. I'm next. Highlights of this week. If you haven't got enough of your Clint, Meg and Dan Fix. And who knows? You actually may have contributed to the show this week and made the diaries.
Starting point is 01:11:22 A few listeners in there? Yeah, sometimes it's for the wrong reasons. It's true. But yeah, you might have made it. It's the edge. Clint Megan Dan Friday morning, 14 to 9. Want to hear more of Clint Meg and Dan
