The Edge Breakfast - RADIO SHOW | 791 | Meg called her what!?

Episode Date: August 30, 2026

Clint, Meg and Dan kick off Monday chatting Warriors results and show segments like “Imposter” and “Easy Money.” Meg recaps taking her daughter to the Paw Patrol premiere, and ...the team laughs about mix-ups like “full bore” vs “full ball” and “postboned.” They tribute Tim Curry and discuss Olivia Rodrigo’s festival donation, plus Snoop Dogg’s $50K feature fee. A big debate asks when it’s acceptable to watch a shared TV show without your partner, followed by calls about pulling sickies, with Gen Z highlighted. They plan a water balloon throw-and-catch record attempt at Eden Park, start Flat Idol for Rhythm and Vines tickets, and begin an Imposter story about a nudie-run dare gone wrong. 01:52 Weekend Movies and Paw Patrol 04:45 Full Bore Mix-Up 05:31 Adult Realizations  09:24 Pop Culture Scandal and Donations 10:59 First Caller 15:39 Naughty 640  20:19 Father's Day Lessons Segment 24:15 Easy Money  25:54 Caller Quiz Wrap 26:28 Netflix Cheating Debate 34:40 Water Balloon Record Plan 39:20 Flat Idol Launch 44:57 Who Pulls Sickies 54:36 Easy Money  56:28 Tom Hardy Rap Pivot 01:04:58 Festy Bestie 01:08:02 Imposter 01:16:40 Sport Roundup Wrap

Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Good morning, 6am Monday. I hope you had a bloody good weekend. Ready to join us again. Oh, what a weekend, Meg. Yeah. I bet you watched the Waz yesterday. Glued to the television.
Starting point is 00:00:15 I watched my husband watch the Waz. Yes. Well, I think made dinner and bits and bobs. All you need to know, there's only one game left of the regular season. Win or lose. Worst place scenario, we finished the league second. Isn't that incredible? Now, Dan, I hope you didn't because you are a jinx.
Starting point is 00:00:30 I know. And I did watch the goal. To be honest, I had the game on. Did you watch the start? Because we were losing 16-0. I watched from the start this time. And I did consider turning the television off. But then I decided to just put it on in the background
Starting point is 00:00:44 and they did come back because I wasn't watching it. It was dicey. Maybe it's okay if the game's there. I don't think, I mean, the thing is we know Dan's a jinx. I'm full jinks. I know. Well, then why are you watching the games and wearing the merch? I know, but I just really want to see them play.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Yeah, and the blue does bring out your eyes. That's nice. Morning Richie. First one to text us. No, actually sorry, Marilyn beat you to it. Yeah, she does. Big show today. Another imposter.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Yep. For grabs. Two lies, one truth. All right. And your story could score yourself $500 if we pick the truth. But also you can text the word lie to 3343. If producer Carl's still looking for a couple of lies to convince us, the story is there's 8.30 this morning.
Starting point is 00:01:26 We'll hear from our new imposter or truth teller. All right. Okay. Still doing easy money, Meg? Have you still given away $1,000? I'm still giving away $1,000, going out of my own pocket. God, she's generous, isn't she?
Starting point is 00:01:38 I am, but nobody's taking it. Surprisingly. Boss said, all right, we're going to have to stop, and Meg goes, no, we won't. I'll put the money up. Don't worry about it. We've given away one lot of a thousand so far, haven't we? Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:49 This week is our week for another one. Yeah, Ellie, the last winner. The Edge is the home of Clint McGahn. The Edge. Time for a little coffee catch-up before we kick the show. It's been the longest time that we go apart on the show. 48 hours.
Starting point is 00:02:03 I went to the movies over the weekend with Daisy I went to the Paul Patrol premiere for Dinosaurs which was actually really epic and for kids movies I thought it was really good because the first Paw Patrol movie that came out years ago it was honestly God just like an extended TV episode and I was like what a waste of time this is more of a movie
Starting point is 00:02:20 yeah it's a movie I mean I watched it and enjoyed it but I also really try and get into movies with my daughter I remember one time and it's not against her at all but one time when I was younger I was really excited. I think it was a mission impossible. And like, In Specter Gadget sort of movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:34 I came out. And I was a little bit older. I was about 10. I thought it was awesome. And I was like, oh my God, that was great. And I had an older brother and it was my mom and dad. We all win his family. And then they were like, that was so lame.
Starting point is 00:02:45 And they were all discussing how crap they thought it was. And I remember thinking I was really stupid because I enjoyed it. So I like try and get into it because, you know, she thinks it's cool. So I'll be like, yeah, it was cool instead of being like that was stupid. Yeah, I do remember Inspector Gadgett that movie sucks. It did actually suck. So it's fair that my parents said that. The only one I've seen is inspect her gadget.
Starting point is 00:03:03 That's a different... Oh, yuck. But my daily daughter is still just getting used to movies. I guess she's just getting to the age where she can watch them. She's quite... What could I say about her? Because I don't share her online. She's got big emotions.
Starting point is 00:03:19 And she is probably not the best person to sit next to it the movie. It's likely we had our own space, but she full ball gets into it. So she'll... I know, she'll four, and it sounds really annoying but it was a movie theatre full of kids, so not as bad. If something happened to one of the main characters, she'd go,
Starting point is 00:03:38 Marshall! Run! Oh, no! Oh, God! Oh, God! It's all good, it's all good, so good, so good, and she will, like, commentate, but with like this big, booming voice,
Starting point is 00:03:51 because she's so into it. Luckily, nobody actually got annoyed. The only annoying thing is there was some and I have to say, even though I guess I'm an influencer mum, there were some influencer mums that were taking flash photos on their phone the whole time of the kids watching them. So annoying. Take one photo and be done with it.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Flash photos in a movie theatre? You're not supposed to take flash photography. I quite often try to film the movie so I can watch it again. But you're not allowed to take flash photography. No, I mean it was of the children, but it was just constantly like pinging off. It was annoying as. But then again, I had a kid yelling the whole time. So I can't complain.
Starting point is 00:04:27 I can never get into the Port Patrol movies. It's just because I just can't believe animals could save lives and drive cars. That's too hard to get your head around. But kids seem to love it, don't they? But you like cars, Lightning McQueen, and that's a talking car. True. I just for some reason find that more believable. Dan makes exceptions for the movies he likes.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, well, this is actually quite fitting, something you've done in this break, me considering what we're going to talk about next, about what was the thing you just recently realized. Yeah. What did you say when you go full what? Your daughter goes full... Full ball?
Starting point is 00:04:59 Full ball? Yeah? Do you mean full bore? No, I mean full ball? No, it's full bore. Full bore, meaning operating at maximum speed, absolute power, or complete thoroughness. I think she's mixing up full ball. With what my husband has.
Starting point is 00:05:11 And balls to the wall. Balls to the wall and full bore. Yeah. So, what does full bore mean then? Is it one word? Yeah, but is it one word or two words? It's full bore. Full bore.
Starting point is 00:05:21 B-O-R-E? Yeah. Oh, I've got that real wrong. Full ball. And that. It's like a... Full ball. Is that what a guy's moves?
Starting point is 00:05:29 Damn it. Yeah, pool ball. He always has them. He goes football. Poor guy. He's always got the pool. Well, Dan's just realized something as well. We thought maybe we could open up the phones if there's something you go, yeah, okay, I'll admit.
Starting point is 00:05:39 I've only just recently realized as an adult one. In fact, this will blow your mind. If you've ever watched the TV show, the Wild Thornberry's, it was like a cartoon from the early 2000s. This will blow your mind. Yeah. Dan's brought a fact to the show. Meg only just realized it as well. I had no idea until Dan told me.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Yeah, yeah. And I think Darling and Yaz from the Ashlandon show recently realized something as well. Oh, hers is shocking. Who's the worst? Get your Clint McGinn, Dan Fax. The Edge. What have you learnt recently
Starting point is 00:06:07 that you think the rest of the world may already be aware of? And give us about 0,800 the Edge, or you can text us 3, 3, 4.3. Don't be shy. There was some sad news last week. We found out that Tim Curry, legendary actor, passed away at the age of 80.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Just a day after Dolly Parton died. For reference point, for me, to be Home Alone too, the guy who goes A limousing and a pizza And he sees Kevin Kallis' dad Nude, but it's actually a clown I watched Muppet's Treasure Island over the weekend To...
Starting point is 00:06:35 Is he in that? He's a pirate. He's long john silver. Yes, and he's also Pennywise In the first original it From the early 90s, late 80s. Frank Conferter from Rocky Horror Picture Show And
Starting point is 00:06:47 I didn't realize this But I found out over the weekend Because I watched like a tribute to Tim Curry and he is the voice of Nigel Thornberry. I don't want to alarm you, dearest. But I'm afraid I've lost the sight in my eye. Move your hand, Nigel. What a woman.
Starting point is 00:07:11 I'll do this with my hands. Of course you can hear it now. Now you hear it. It's so hard to not hear it. And apparently there was a live action remake of it in the works of the Wild Thornberry. So I don't know if he was involved before he passed away. I think he wasn't because he was still ill.
Starting point is 00:07:30 But yeah, it blew my mind. I didn't even realize that he was the voice actor of Nigel Thornberry. Well, I don't think that's as bad as Yaz from the Ash Linden Show. Something had been postponed. And in our group chat, she said, oh, no, it's being two words, post-boned. Would it be? And I was like... Clint brought that to us the next day.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Everyone else, I think, thought she just, like, misspelt it or was, like, rushing to type. And Clinton was like, do you think she really means postponed and she doesn't know it's not postponed? And we're like, there's no way. There's no way. And then she outed herself by obviously she Googled it, postponed and post boned with a B. And then she screenshot it, put it in the group chat with like some brain explosion emoji being like, God, who knew? It's like, everyone. Next you'll be saying it's pacifically.
Starting point is 00:08:18 You know, I hate people that do that. Be more pacific. I think there's always stuff that you learn as an adult. Like I only just recently learned that lamb isn't an old sheep that meat. You know, it's actually a baby sheep meat. Yeah, it's lamb. Yeah. And then a couple of years ago, I learned that the lady from Titanic is not actually on the Titanic.
Starting point is 00:08:39 You know, there's stuff you learn. Yeah, we all know about that little triangle on the dashboard that shows you what such a petrol canister is. We know that one. To be fair, the Titanic one, I thought you were absolutely bonkers thinking that that lady was actually on the Titanic and not just an actress. The amount of people that came and, like, jumped in dance, stupid life raff and said, yeah, me too. I just assumed because she was old and she was playing the person that was remembering back the Titanic, that she was on it.
Starting point is 00:09:03 I don't think it's a big jump to make. But anyway, what have you just learnt? Oh, 800 the Edge. Or learnt recently as an adult that you should have known. Like everyone in the movie Titanic were all actors and actresses. That's why she did such a good job. Well, everybody was except I thought the old lady wasn't. Oh, and you didn't think she was acting.
Starting point is 00:09:21 She's just telling a true story. I thought they were like, she was on it. Let's get her in. Okay. Olivia Rodriguez Daisy Chainfields was a huge success. Her first festival she's ever done. She had a guest surprise appearance of Alanus Morrissey. Please say hello to Alainis Morrissey.
Starting point is 00:09:46 And then Stevie Dix was there too. How did she say how does Olivia have so much poll? We're alive afraid of changing. Chapel Rhone was the headliner. And she also announced that they ended up being able to donate $10 million from the net proceeds to non-profits, benefiting women and girls, including reproductive rights, maternal health, gender, equity,
Starting point is 00:10:11 and survivors of violence. Then Melinda French, who used to be Melinda Gates, I think, came up on the stage and doubled the donation to $20 million. Oh, my, imagine being able to do that. Oh, double up. Yeah. I'll just match it, shall I? The thing I took away from it is how good still does Alanis Morissette sound vocally?
Starting point is 00:10:28 I'm so happy I still got to see her live. Do yourself a favour just because I got into a deep hole of just watching like her live. And do yourself a favour and watch Alanus Morissette 2026 live on YouTube. She's incredible. Incredible. Yeah. And amazing that 20 million got donated for people going to a festival and having a great time. And women and girl, women were the only performers.
Starting point is 00:10:49 It's really cool to see Olivia Rodriguez for such a young person have so much pull and make a change. Cool. Just on half six. Just hits. in Auckland. Hey Chloe, Texan, we're talking about things you just learnt. She said, I just learnt, and a lot of people probably won't know this, Chloe. Percentages are reversible.
Starting point is 00:11:08 So if someone asks you what 5% of 10 is, it's the same as 10% of 5. Oh, God, you've lost me there, Chloe. That's way above my pay grade. Yeah, so if somebody asks you 30% of 100, Yeah. What's a... Wait, 30% of 100% of 30. Oh, 100% of 30.
Starting point is 00:11:26 No, because 100% of anything is the same. Yeah. Maybe it just doesn't work if you get that high. I literally do not know what you're talking about. Okay, what was 70% of 40? Is 40% of 70? Yeah, that's what you're saying. If one's going to be easier to work out than the other.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Clint, I mean, Dan. Just let me know when you've stopped talking about this stuff because of the few is. And also boring as, man. Boring, it's mass. Yeah, no, exactly. I hate it. But 100% of 50 isn't the same as 50% of 100.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Come back to me when you talk in English. Clint McGee and Dan It's breakfast The Edge. First call of the day First call on the day It's the one universal language Yeah
Starting point is 00:12:06 I was always Doesn't matter what you speak You're on Everyone can understand No great area either It's not like English When you know you'd write an essay And then you'd be like
Starting point is 00:12:14 Yeah I guess That's why I liked English Because I feel like I could kind of make it work around What I wanted I used to sit and I was in a like Booster Math class
Starting point is 00:12:22 My whole time through college And I used to sit next To a guy who used to eat pencils That's why It's your BDST for anything math Didn't you have another guy He just went Yeah there was another
Starting point is 00:12:34 On the other side of me He just kept going But apart from that he was normal Just terrible at maths like me Anyway Eat pencils That's when you know you're in the dumb mansbyn's I think he had lead poisoning
Starting point is 00:12:47 Because he was just eat them It was sort of a party trick of his though So it was kind of cool How many could he get through in a class I think he'd had Have a couple of HBs a term. All right, Brittany's our first call of the day. Morning, Brett.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Hey, Brett. Morning, guys. Morning, morning. How's your maths, Brit? Oh, terrible. I'm with Dan. Boring. Oh, it's so boring, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:13:10 Yeah. And what do you do for a job now? Because they always say you're going to need it. You need it when you're older. I'm a truck driver. Oh, yeah. What do you move? Coal.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Oh, you've spoken to you before. You'd need to measure how much coal you're putting in the back of your truck, so you don't know how to... You need a bit of maths, don't you? We've got drive-over scales. Yeah. They do it. And that's the thing, Brittany.
Starting point is 00:13:32 They did say back at school you're going to need mass. I've never had to do mass. I've never had to carry a one, ever. Because it's a thing called... Especially not now when you carry your phone around with you, and it's got a calculator on it. You must be pretty busy around Christmas time with all the naughty kids. Oh, carting the coal, yeah, you'd think so, eh?
Starting point is 00:13:50 You said it must need a lot of it. Yeah, yeah. Unless... Ever will be good this year. True, maybe the kids have been good. Sorry, Brittany, we do this gag every time you call, don't we? Hey, it's not a gag? Yes, that's okay.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Sandra puts coal and naughty kids' sacks. Make sure you're being good kids, you've got a few months to go. Do you know, me and Brittany have something in common. She used to be a ballroom dancer, and then she injured her knee, and now she can't dance anymore. Oh, injuries stop you from performing. I don't know you're a ballroom dancer, Meg. No, I was a dancer, though. A very good dancer, ballet.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Oh, what was your ballroom dance specialty, Brett? I love New Vogue. New Vogue I've never heard of it I'm not Yeah so there's ballroom Latin and New Vogue Okay
Starting point is 00:14:31 Clint you give me Pasadoblae energy I know you were in Dancing with the Stars So Did a Pasobleau like the Viennese waltz I like that one That's a bit of fun Yeah that's really awesome as well
Starting point is 00:14:41 I always take my hat off to people That are good at dancing Do you know what Meg and I Would love nothing more Than Dancing with the Stars To come back and Dan get us to go on Nothing more
Starting point is 00:14:52 But you would never do it would you That's one show I'd never be, I'd be so nervous. Everyone has a price. What would yours be? One million dollars. Oh, I miss off. It'd be much less than that.
Starting point is 00:15:06 How's the knee, Brit, if we pulled you out of retirement and got you on the show? How bad. Oh, I think it would almost be worth it. Although I don't know if there'd be much dancing done. I think I'd spend most of the time probably laughing at Dan. I just think it's awesome. Oh, bless you. Well, you know what, if I ever get on Dancing with the Stars and they find a million dollar budget to get me on?
Starting point is 00:15:24 Brittany, you're my partner. It's going to be, Britney with a bug knee and dad. It's going to be embissal. Yeah, the gamy knee. And I'm just terrible. It'll be shocking. Good luck getting out of the first week. All right, Brett, hold there.
Starting point is 00:15:36 We'll so you out with our Edge Price back. Thanks, babe, for calling. Awesome, thanks. Thank you, mate. Have a great week. All right, coming up next, Norty 640. Dan wants to talk about his wife. She's been naughty.
Starting point is 00:15:47 She's been a bit naughty. What? Is she? Oh, yeah, no, she did something yesterday. It was nothing to do with sexual stuff, though. But she just said something to a random stranger I was like, Hannah, you can't say that. It doesn't have to be sexual. No, it's just naughty.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Oh, is that? I thought it was like naughty, 640. It's like I can only just join the show. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan. The Edge. Time to get naughty at 640.
Starting point is 00:16:14 I think that's the reason I think this is naughty because of that intro. True. It suggests it's R-rated. Yeah, like an R-rated type of naughty. But this is not that. This is just something that my wife did over the weekend, which is questionable in terms of morals. Morals.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Yeah, so quite often, I don't know what it is. I guess we live in quite a well-to-do area. And we rent our house. And so we have quite often people coming to the door, door knocking, asking for money, for charities. Fine. And quite often what I'll do is I'll see them coming up the driveway and I'll hide and pretend I'm not home. Oh, same. Yeah, like I'll just lock the door and just go down where they can't see.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Yeah, we don't get charities, we get Mormons. Is it because you just can't afford to take on any more charities because you're at maximum capacity? Exactly, Clinton. And so I was like, I go and hide. This time I did, but my wife didn't have a chance to. And so she was in the lounge milling round and this person knocked on the door. I can't remember what charity they were from, but it doesn't matter. So you saw them in you're hitting, you didn't warn your wife.
Starting point is 00:17:11 You just were like, she's on her own. If you start yelling, go, come down here. Then they'll hear us and know that we're hiding. So anyway, she was like a deer stuck in headlights and he knocked on the door. she had to open it and talk to him. Now, they do the spiel, don't they? Where they come in and they go, hi, I'm here from, you know, Mara on UNICEF.
Starting point is 00:17:28 We're raising money. And they get in all their information. Now, I was round the corner listening to my wife. And she did a thing which I think is rude. But he started with a spiel and then Hannah just goes, look, I'm going to stop you there. That's so grown up of her. I'm not interested.
Starting point is 00:17:47 That's so grown up. Don't you think that's like the most grown up there? That's what parents do. I know she is a parent but it feels like a parent thing to be like, I'm going to stop you right there I'm not interested good on her.
Starting point is 00:17:55 Yeah, and her defence was I was doing him a favour because he was going to go into his full spiel And I was like, get his hopes up He was like oh God, they're listening They're listening to the spiel I don't know
Starting point is 00:18:04 Like if anyone's ever telling me something And they go Stop I'll stop you there It seems rude It seems like you It's rude that they've come to your house At 6pm at night To come and ask for money
Starting point is 00:18:14 I always just let them do the spiel And then go hey look We're not interested today But give me some details And maybe if I change my mine, I'll get in touch. That's what I do. So it leaves them with a bit of hope.
Starting point is 00:18:23 And then do you get in touch later? Absolutely not. But I mean, do you know the best thing is when you see their uniform and it's like a charity that you already donate to? And you're just like, hey, mate, I'll stop you there. We've been donating for the last 10 years. Love the charity.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Thanks for the work you do. Have they ever looked it up? Because I've thought about using that line, but they don't actually donate. And then they go, all right, what's your last name? And I go, shit. Yeah. I mean, let me look you up. No, because they can't sign you up to something you already signed up to.
Starting point is 00:18:48 But no, they've never checked before. Just do what I do and go, the name's Randall. Yeah, Randall. And usually they're signed up for it. Yeah, yeah. That's good. That's good. All right.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Nick has an idea on how to get people that ask for charity at your house. Morning, Nick. Good, Nick. Now, first of all, if they do start the spill, or they come to your house, are you dropping a, I'll stop you there? Yes, pretty much. I've got two very large raw rollers that I had inside my property, so they generally don't get anyone coming up to our place at all. Yeah. That's the same with my dog.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Yeah. Also, they don't even get past the gate because they're just like, nah, I'll skip this house, got two Rotweilers. Fair enough. That's the one. They turn around, put their little note
Starting point is 00:19:28 in a letterbox and then walk away. Let me guess though, blue and sky are your Rotweilers. They'd probably lick him to death before anything. That's correct, yeah. Once they come in and they're friendly enough, they'll be fine. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:38 They don't know that, though. A bit like my dog, Nick. Sounds really scary, looks really scary, and then actually jokes on you, very friendly. So you could do that or do what Clint does and just installed a $40,000 electric gate. Yeah. So there's options.
Starting point is 00:19:52 So you either hide behind your wife, get a big gate, or get a scary dog. It actually wasn't that expensive. I got it through Miter 10. Oh God, so it was one of those ones. So he's still paying it off by matching them every now and then. A bit of a co-labby thing. Who was it again? Miter 10.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Oh, okay. Yeah. I think they're doing some cool stuff for Father's Day, actually. Oh, they are. Yeah, well, actually, next, next. Your favorite radio show? and podcast for Edge Breakfast
Starting point is 00:20:20 Clint Megan Dan Father's Day Father's Day is on Sunday Yeah Close enough It is isn't it This Sunday Father's Day
Starting point is 00:20:28 It is Dan It is You guys Oh you don't need to be sorted Oh you do need We sort of your own Dad Well no
Starting point is 00:20:34 That's up to the mum To organise that now I reckon Father's day For all the dads For your dad Oh no Then I'd know
Starting point is 00:20:41 For my dad I'd have to organise Yeah Okay And my dad's Oh yeah Why? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:20:47 The country Doesn't changed Father's Day. And we did that Chemist Warehouse Father's Day thing on Friday, and I invited my dad, so don't you think I've done it? I think you've done enough. Well, this Father's Day, we're celebrating the dads and father figures behind life's greatest lessons. It's thanks to Miter 10.
Starting point is 00:21:00 You just need to text with Father the 3343 and nominate your dad. Then if Dad does join us on ear, who have 10 seconds to teach us his signature lesson. If he nails it, he'll get himself a gift card. Oh, yeah, Dad's love teaching lessons, don't they? In parting wisdom. Yeah, are you thinking about the lessons you're going to teach your boy? Yes. Working on that.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Yeah, working on it. Have you taught him anything yet? How to woo a woman. That's what I'll teach him one day. You know? What's your number one tip for wooing women? I don't have any clint to be honest. Oh, you're still trying to...
Starting point is 00:21:29 I'll have to Google it out. You're compiling the list. Ask chat. All right, so we've got Emma on this morning. Hi, Emma. Hello. Hey, you get along with your dad, which is good news. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:40 Yeah, we do. Tell us a bit about your old man. What makes them great? I mean, he should... a great guy. He's just funny. Okay. And he's got a lesson for us that he's going to have to teach us in 10 seconds.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Do you know what is this lesson? He's going to get stitched up real bad here, but it's just literally running from geese. What? Running from geese. What do you mean? Yeah. Well, when we were little, we would always go to the
Starting point is 00:22:13 groins in Christchurch and there was always geese and he would always just try tell us how to run away from them but really we'll just get chased by them and he would just laugh. Is it kind of like when you're chased by a crocodile, they reckon the best thing you can do is run in a zigzag pattern because crocodiles move that. Yeah, they're not very fast at turning. They're just fast in a straight line. Shall we get his lesson, Clint?
Starting point is 00:22:33 Yeah, I'll stop the air. Yeah, go on. Okay, Jason. Hello. Hello, you've got 10 seconds to teach us how to run away from a goose. very fast and you always turn left Okay, so you go in like a circular motion What happens if the goose also turns left
Starting point is 00:22:53 What if he's left footed? Well then you turn right Well you said always turn left Yeah but if you've got a left foot and goose You go right Right, okay Okay, now I'm going to put you both on hold for a second there Jason and Emma Boys, okay
Starting point is 00:23:05 Do we feel that we've been taught something? Well I think he sort of lost confidence When I asked if they turn right To be fair, I didn't know how to run away from a goose. I've never had to. I've never had to either. So I feel like he has taught me something. Maybe they are kind of like the crocodile what you do.
Starting point is 00:23:21 It's more about the direction rather than speed. Do you feel like you've learnt something, Clint? I mean, if I was being chased by a goose, that's probably what I'd... I'm probably going to think about Jason now. So, congratulations, Jason. You've won yourself a $250 might of 10 gift card. You're all good. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Hey, wait. Chase, does that mean Emma's off the? hook now or are you still expecting another gift from her on Sunday? No, she owes me a lot. That doesn't count. That doesn't count. I will say this, Jace. I did Google how to run away from a goose, and chat GPD does say, do not run, slowly back away while keeping eye contact because the birds can run faster than you.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Not according to Jays. No, according to Jays. Okay. Now, we've taught him something. Hey, Chats not always right, Jays. Thanks for that, Jays. Have a great Sunday. you rap it's the gift that counts make dad stay at MITA 10. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:24:19 $1,000 on the line. Let's play. Easy money. A horrible weather around the country this morning, isn't it, guys? Especially in the South Island. Central Otago, South and North Otago, very cold conditions and slips around the place as well. So take care
Starting point is 00:24:35 if you're in those areas this morning. Richie, you know all about that, being a cross-church land. Morning, Richie. Morning, Rich. Morning. Morning. No good weather-wise. No, it's pretty blue skies and sunshine here in Christchurch at the moment, so we're pretty good. Okay, well that's good.
Starting point is 00:24:53 It's completely contrary to what we've been told. So that's nice. You should be the weather man. Ritchie, your letter is Jay this morning. You ready to play for $1,000? I am ready. Okay, you can pass. You just can't give us the same answer twice.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Here we go. Time starts at the end of Meg asking your first question. Give me a girl's name. Just go. Something sweet? Juice. A country. Japan.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Something you'd buy to mall. Jersey. A movie? Pass. An occupation. Janitor. A car brand. Cheap.
Starting point is 00:25:35 A celebrity. Justin Bieber. A musical. Pass. Time. Oh, you're at question 10. A word ending an R would have been the last one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:49 The movie, you could have got Jaws, Jurassic Park, Jungle Book or Juno, among others. musical jersey boys Jesus Christ Superstar Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoes but Meg we have the we have the answers in front of us don't want to be bad showing though Richie pace was good Richie
Starting point is 00:26:03 Yeah really good So much Oh man So close Thanks thank you Oh Meg always hangs up on them It's just about It's just about like I feel like there's a gap
Starting point is 00:26:14 And then they're sorry Meg when Meg's hurt enough She's heard enough Yeah back again at 8 o'clock If you want to have a crack at it I'll give you the letter now actually you can start thinking about it. Zed. Can only be so many Z-Arxes.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Oh, that's a good one, Clint. That's a big clue. Naudy. Good luck. All right, up next, settle this. This is the thing that Clint is always talking about. Always talking about. It doesn't affect me very much, but... It involves cheating on his wife. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Oh, asterix. This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys off here and a little looser? Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. It's Clint Megan Dan's. And let's settle this. Let's settle this right now. Well, my wife thinks it's cheating.
Starting point is 00:26:57 I don't think it's cheating. You know how you'll be watching like a show together? And you go, oh, yes, let's get into this. Okay, I'm watching Traders UK with my husband at the moment. Great, okay. You could watch. How much time needs to pass before you can watch a show without your partner that you started watching together? Never.
Starting point is 00:27:18 In this time. You cannot watch it again unless you're watching with them. What do you mean? So if a month passes, you're ready to watch the next step. And are they consistently saying, no, I don't want to? Because then yes. Well, maybe they're like busy, or are they just doing other things or working and you've got a 40-minute window?
Starting point is 00:27:32 No. See, no, no. If you have asked them consistently said, hey, do you don't watch the next step because I'm not really into it or no, I don't feel like watching that tonight, then yeah, sure, you can watch it. But if you're not asking, you just have some spare time when they don't have spare time because they're working.
Starting point is 00:27:45 They want to watch it. But they just never... You can never do it. But they're just never around or available to watch them. I disagree, Meg. I disagree. Take some stuff off your wife's play. I've done it many of times. The most recently was probably with
Starting point is 00:27:59 the show Game of Thrones. My wife and I were enthralled with that. And she was the same. Like there'd be days go by where she isn't able to watch it for whatever reason. I'd just watch it and then re-watch it again with her and pretend I hadn't. It's the perfect crime. No, really. Because then at least you're really good,
Starting point is 00:28:17 which I'm not at not going up just before something happens, like looking like... you just go, oh my God. No, the problem is, though, because I'll watch one. And I'll think, oh, yeah, I could do that. But then I watch another one. And then she, if she starts joining in, I could go back like four episodes. You're bad men.
Starting point is 00:28:34 I think with that rule, I only do two max. You can only go ahead two max, because then you're just having to watch five episodes, nightmare. Surely there's an amount of time that if you are saying, hey, babe, I want to watch the show tonight. And she's like, oh, no, I can't. Oh, I've got whatever to do. Well, she's prioritising other things. and I've got the time or vice versa she might have more time than me depending on the week.
Starting point is 00:28:54 I think after a week goes, maybe it's the amount of times you ask. If you ask five times and they can't watch it, that show is now your show to just power on through. If it's because they have things on and they're busy, no. If they've said, I don't feel like it, then yes, fair game. But if it's like, oh no, I really want to watch it. But unfortunately, I'm putting our kids to bed
Starting point is 00:29:13 or I've got work, then no. It's your problem. Just because you guys finish your shows at mid-day. day and then you get a few hours, not you Dan, but you Clint, you get a few hours before your kids come home, your wife's at work. You need a show by yourself. You need a Clint show.
Starting point is 00:29:29 I'm team Clint on this. I think if the person's putting it off at night, they're doing other things, they're doing baking, they're putting the kids to bed. Yes, yes, things that are all the family. That's not my problem. I want to watch the show, I'll watch it. I think you give them a couple of days grace,
Starting point is 00:29:45 but I'm not risking getting a show spoiled online by a lady. Easy partner. Do you know what happened as well? I started watching Yellowstone on my own. And then my wife did that thing, like through the end of season one going, wait, so is he, that guy and her, are they sister, brother and sister? I go, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:04 And then she was like, wait, did he? And I was like, oh my God, she's getting into it. And then she's like, right, you're not watching the show without me anymore. So a show that was mine now became ours. That's a little unfee, I must say. And then now I have to like wait for her every time she's a very time. I also say she sounds like a nightmare to watch a show with because she's going like, who's that character? So who's that the mother of her?
Starting point is 00:30:25 I'd be like, shut up. I've watched the same episodes as you. Unless you haven't. So is there an amount of time that passes when a couple show becomes a solo show and you're allowed to cheat and just push on and just watch the rest of it without them? Yeah, what's your rule of thumb on this? Yeah. Or is it like once you start it, you have to finish it together. Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Even if it takes six months. Yes. Put it in your vows then. We didn't mention it. Clint McGinn-Dan, Dan. It's Clint Megan Dan's. Let's settle this. Let's settle this right now.
Starting point is 00:30:58 How much time needs to pass before you can start watching a Netflix show without your partner that you started initially watching together? Monica says on the text machine there is no time limit, you just have to wait. Now that reads like someone
Starting point is 00:31:12 that keeps her partner waiting all the time. Because she's doing stuff. She wants to see the show, but she's busy. Sarah agrees with you too, Meg. Yeah, agree with Meg. If you're doing your kid's bedtime, not acceptable. Okay, okay, let's take kids bedtime out of it. Then one of the other things, what are the other things she could be doing?
Starting point is 00:31:31 Like she's doing work at night or something. Yes, work at, yes, the same applies. Yeah, but I'm not on call. You know, I finished work at 11 a.m. Yeah, we have different hours, you know, so I should be able to just... I guess the mistake you're making Clint is agreeing to watch it with your unreliable wife. Yeah, yeah. It's true.
Starting point is 00:31:50 I started watching Love is Blind without her and I was like she'd really like this and I was like, nah. This is mine. This is just my show. I can't. Oh, she's just text me.
Starting point is 00:31:59 Oh, she's not listening. She's just sending me a lovely morning message. Oh, bless you. I went to chat GBT to solve the argument because that's where we all go. If you have agreed to watch a series together you are supposed to wait for your partner. That is the unofficial Netflix cheating role.
Starting point is 00:32:15 There is no acceptable time that you can wait before you can push on. But if you do want time. Says 0 to 24 hours, absolutely cheating. 24 to 48 hours, still cheating. But you could make a case if you ended up being caught. No, you couldn't. Three to seven days, grey area.
Starting point is 00:32:32 No. One to two weeks, you're basically released from Netflix jail. Okay. And a reasonable person would assume that you've abandoned them to push on without them. The nature of TV shows now, because they come out often just all in one season, so it's just in one chunk, they're all there. The spoiler risk is high these days. So if you fall too far behind on a TV show,
Starting point is 00:32:55 there's a risk you're going to see spoilers online. Someone said they send their partner a warning text where they turn around and say, just letting you know, if you don't watch this by Sunday night or with me this weekend, then I will assume that you're out. I mean, most people are with Meg, though, Clint. Most people are saying he was right.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Because it's kind. What would you do if you found out Guy had what? Watched it without you. Watch traders without me. And then re-watched it, but didn't say anything. I'll be personally. I'll go just watch it by yourself then. See it later.
Starting point is 00:33:27 I'm putting your divorce papers in the mail. Yeah, she takes it very seriously. How good is trainers, though? Yeah, yeah, it's great. We really enjoyed it. It's nice to have something we can watch once a week. Guy needs to get a pre-n-up with you because he'd be stuffed. A few left him.
Starting point is 00:33:40 I think I'd also be stuffed. I mean, financially, no, but mentally. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You'd take all the money. Yeah. Kayla, what's the rule in your house? Um, well, we were supposed to wait and I was looking after our five month old
Starting point is 00:33:55 but he decided that he'd finish all the pre-shows we watched in the movies that were halfway watched. Exactly, Carla, and you were so, sorry, can I just confirm you said you were looking after you're five month old? Yeah. Is he now your ex-husband or partner? No, I told him to just watch stuff like, we'll just watch stuff like as well. Yeah, watch it separately.
Starting point is 00:34:15 If he's going to do that, there's no point. Yeah. Yeah, I was like, no. Okay, well, if we take your feedback into account as well as all the texts we've got, I'd say that most people are with me. You shouldn't be doing it behind your car. Unless they say, hey, I'm not really into it. You watch it about yourself.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Then you'll watch it together. There's no time. Once you start it, you've got to finish it together. Interestingly, we had more people saying it was okay to sleep with other people. When we did that the other day than actually watch a TV show behind the back. Hey, coming up next. Dan is looking to break a world record that was set last week. was one the way that. Oh, you'd be pissed, eh?
Starting point is 00:34:51 If you just set that record, those people. I think they've heard that I'm doing it, though, and they'll be like, oh, we'll be fine. What do you think the chances are, before we discuss it next, Meg, that Dan actually achieves it? 20. 20%. Yeah. That's quite high. Thank you, Meg. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax.
Starting point is 00:35:07 There is a record that we think Dan can break. Well, I think it's an easily broken one, and maybe I'm wrong on that. But it involves water balloons, Clint. Yeah, I've just been doing a bit of Research David Rush and his 10-year-old son, Jeremy Rush, both Americans, have just beaten the record for the furthest distance to throw and catch a water balloon
Starting point is 00:35:30 with 43 metres. The dad used a special circular arm swing like a catapult to actually release the water balloon and send it that far for his 10-year-old son to catch. Oh, so he didn't throw it or anything? Yeah, so I'm like, well, why bother trying to throw it? Why don't we just drop it from a really high height? Well, I guess the thinking behind that is maybe the balloon will go faster if you drop it because it will reach terminal velocity and be harder to catch.
Starting point is 00:35:59 Well, we do know the guys at Eden Park and producer Carl's been chatting to them. And the roof that they actually do like a walk on top of and get a tour of Eden Park is 34 meters high, which is unfortunately a little short. So I've done some calculations. You know the whole trig cos tans, whatever it is. Trigonometry, that one. We would have to throw it 26 metres out from the roof that sits at 34 metres to get at a distance that would be record worthy.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Now is that throwable with a manual arm, 26 metres? Do we do a slingshot like we did with the marshmallows? Yeah, I think you'd probably be able to throw it because then the height would just keep carrying it and carrying it further. I think we could do that. Oh, on a second. Okay, so if Dan's catch in and you're throwing, what the hell am I doing? and pretty. And you nail that.
Starting point is 00:36:50 So I'm just going to sit there. No, I reckon you go one for one. I think you've got a hell of an arm on you, Meg. I've reckon that you could throw just as hard as Clint. And Dan, if he doesn't catch him, he's just going to get soaking wet. Okay, right, I'm back in. I'm back in.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Producer Carl, how's the Eden Park thing going? Yeah, it was a weird conversation when I said, hey, I've got one guy who wants to throw water bombs and another guy down in the stands, and they were like from the roof of your lovely stadium. And they were like, oh, yeah, sweet as, up to Tuesday and I was like not a lot and they were like okay cool so yeah it's a weird
Starting point is 00:37:21 conversation better to work out I'm sure it's fine they are good like that we'll just stand directly underneath like Dan if you stand directly underneath where we would drop them straight down from pace out 26 metres and then that's really where we have to be hitting you and if you catch him and a 10 year old boy
Starting point is 00:37:36 quarter does dad have to wear goggles and a helmet I don't think that's needed health and safety what do you think? A health and safety goggles and helmet and probably a wet suit too I think if you got a full body. Maybe some padding on your bits. I don't want to get you on your groin. I don't want this to turn into a humiliating thing.
Starting point is 00:37:51 If I'm getting my photo in the Guinness Book of Records, I don't want to be wearing goggles in the helmet. He's going to be wearing one of those helmets with the big gropeys that cranes off the front. Okay, draw a line to snorkel, I'm not wearing a snorkel. That would be fine. So goggles's helmet, maybe some knee pads, arm pads.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Produce car. Do any of you guys have a range finder? Because our tight-ar's boss Jack won't let me buy one for the stunt. Yeah, you'll be cut off from the credit card. Carlos, absolutely cut off from buying anything. end up being one of those things that gathers dust like that decibel reader you got once. Yeah, in my workshop.
Starting point is 00:38:21 Yeah, exactly. Yeah, Carl will use it. A range finder. I don't know what that is. Okay. Okay, and I don't know if there's a maximum amount of water balloons we're allowed to throw down to. I think we just fill up as many as we can carry. Take up a couple of buckets worth and you're just got to catch one.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Okay. And can I just make it clear you're aiming for my hands, not my head? Okay, me? It might be hard to see from that distance, though, Clint. It's just all flesh, isn't it? And I feel like you've got quite a handy face in that facie hand. Yeah. sniper's dream they call me.
Starting point is 00:38:49 I will say, as well, it is very, very difficult to catch anything, let alone a balloon. So I'm going to have to provide suspension with my arms, aren't I, to catch the balloon. I thought about it. Because you don't want it to burst. Prodisco? I've purchased 400 water bombs. Should that be enough? Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:39:07 If he doesn't catch up to 4, I think I'll be gone up to 200. He's found another credit card. I'm boss like going to be happy. Boss is looking like, how's he done that? He's got to spend his own money now? Just to quickly go back as well. Yeah, Bruno Mars, on sale and 11 this Friday. Oh, yeah, cool.
Starting point is 00:39:23 All right, nailed that. Flat Wars, your chance to score six passes to R&V. You'll have to create your own song. Meg did one on Friday. If you missed it. Incredible. Absolute bloody banger. She's in the wrong gig, I think.
Starting point is 00:39:36 We'll get that one up for you next. Clint Meg and Dan scandal. The Daisy Chainsfield Festival by Olivia Rodrigo, one out was a huge success. Guest appearances, Alanis Morissette, that was a surprise. Along with Stevie Nix, she was always going to be there, and Chapel Rhone. She announced they were
Starting point is 00:39:57 donating $10 million from the net proceeds to non-profits benefiting women and girls with the all-women line-up, including reproductive rights, maternal health, gender equity, and survivors of violence, and then Melinda French X Gates, so X Bill Gates's wife, doubled the donation to $20 million. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:40:13 And how much does it cost, put your bets in, to get a Snoop Dog feature on a song. Because an artist in Australia has answered that. I know he does that thing where you can get a birthday message. What's that called again? Cameo. Camio and he charges like two grand or something. Get him on a song?
Starting point is 00:40:31 Get him on a song. So he's featuring on your song. 50 grand. Okay, play the clip. How much did it cost to get Snoop Dog on Get Him Girls? 50K. That's a bargain. He acted in the video. Bang for your buck.
Starting point is 00:40:45 You know, he did shoot you. time. He brought, like, to the music video, he brought his, like, posse. Wow. He entourage. Yeah, of course. Brought, like, a Winnebago. He was cooking fried chicken for the community. Like, he brought everybody out. Oh, you've just, wow. 50K to get Snoop Dog on a song, which is maybe what these flats could do with a rich daddy
Starting point is 00:41:07 if they wanted to do. Because we're doing flat wars, and you've got to make a song to try and get R&B. If you had that amount of money, I imagine you could just buy your tickets, but. Oh, I mean, I imagine if they get Snoop. Don, that's an instant win. Yeah. I'll just give it to them. All right, well Meg said the bar very high by actually showing you how it is done on Friday.
Starting point is 00:41:24 If you missed it, we'll get that one up for you because, Matt, it's worth another spoon. I think it should be played at R&V? Should she be headlining it? That's the question. It just hits in Auckland. All right, we'll get our first flat on. We'll have five. They will all put together a song and then we'll compete against each other.
Starting point is 00:41:43 The six free tickets to R&V. your favorite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint McGinn Dan. It's Flat Idol. Flat Idol, five flats, head to head. Only one will be packing their bags, though, for the final R&V and Gizzy. We will choose five flats, one a day this week, and then they will get creative and write, produce and record a flat idol song
Starting point is 00:42:05 competing for six R&V tickets, accommodation, and a VIP Vintage Club upgrade to Rhythm and Bind. This is a hell of a prize, isn't it? Yeah, it's the most amazing prize, and you will be MVP, I imagine, for the rest of the year, at least if you're the person that entered and got you through to the stage. You wouldn't have to cook flat dinner for a year. Easily.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Well, let's find out, actually. Sophia, good morning. You are flat one. You will be competing next week for Flat Idol. Congratulations. Thank you. We're so excited. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Tell us a little bit about your flat. What's the name of the flat? Most flats have a name. So it's White Palace and there's six of us, and we've all been, we've flatted together all through. Yeah, yeah. White pillars. We're all very, very close and such good friends.
Starting point is 00:42:49 But next year, sadly, we're all of us all going separate ways. So we're wanting to spend the last New Year's all together. Oh, fair enough. That's lovely. Okay. Any of you studying music by chance? No. Can any of you at least sing?
Starting point is 00:43:04 No. Okay, so it's not looking good. Okay, all right. No, but that's okay. I can't sing or anything, and you can still get some things made. Although, have we said that we're going to, how are we feeling about, use of AI and bits and bombs. Yeah, well the thing is Meg used AI.
Starting point is 00:43:19 And it sounded incredible. Oh, sorry. No, you go. You go. We're really excited. We're probably not going to use, we've got some really cool ideas. We're not going to use AI, but we'll use it a little bit, maybe for ideas. Okay.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Well, did you hear Meg's song, Sophia, on Friday? No, I didn't. I think I was actually at work. Okay, well, take a listen, because this is the high water mark at the moment. Meg didn't even need a week. She took, what, now? About that. I'll just give you the hook.
Starting point is 00:43:50 It's our destiny. You and me. Dutty, in it? Yeah, I love it. How good. It's filthy. Filthy. In a good way.
Starting point is 00:44:21 Meaning that is one hell of a bag. The more creative you can get, the better, Sophia. Honestly, I'm really excited if you guys and stuff. We've been so creative. Okay, good. Good. Good on you girls. Actually, is it a flat of girls? Was that right? Yes, good luck.
Starting point is 00:44:34 Nice, nice, nice. Okay, exciting. Well, good luck. We'll be chatting to you in a few days time. Thank you very much. You're welcome. All right. Get working on that and you'll find out your competition the rest of this week as we look for four more flats.
Starting point is 00:44:45 If you'd like to get yourself in the mix, then nice and easy. All you have to do is text flat to 3343. We'll bounce you back the link. And then who knows? You could be doing what me just did. It's our destiny. I went under the edge if you've ever pulled a sickie because there's some news going around at the moment of the generation that is most likely to pull one. Yeah, place you bet which generation you think that might be.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Have you ever just called work and said I'm not coming in today because I'm sick when really you're not? Like at all. Yeah. Are you willing to admit it? Call us. O8 Under the Edge. 18 to 8. Breakfast, Clint McGintan Dan.
Starting point is 00:45:32 Edge. Which generation is most likely to pull a sickie when they're not? Yeah, there's been a study of... Over 2,000 people worldwide. Okay. And 82% of people under 25 have admitted to having a sick day in the past year when they weren't too unwell to work. Bloody Gen Z, we knew it. Producer Brady.
Starting point is 00:45:56 We knew it to be you lot. Yeah. It's happening all the time apparently with Gen Z's. Maybe they have a little bit of a scratchy throat. So they're going, oh, a bit of scratchy throat. Well, I think that's good, isn't it? If they actually are somewhat sick, then stay home. Isn't that what we've learned from COVID?
Starting point is 00:46:11 Do you know what I think they're doing? They do a bit of a Sunday session. Tell me if I'm wrong, Brady. Have a couple of beers thinking it'll just be a couple. But then you go one more, three. Then it's four. And then that's where you go, I'm just going to call in sick tomorrow. Yeah, can't confirm.
Starting point is 00:46:24 We were just turned up hung over. It's like some of them are just going. Back in my day. They're waking up in the morning. They're going, I've got to saw Tommy Wami. And they don't come into work and let the rest of the team down. No, you're letting the team down. If you ever saw Tommy Wami.
Starting point is 00:46:38 and you pass it around. Okay. But if you're just completely not sick, that blows my mind. We'll keep you anonymous because I was going to read out names. Okay, if we go to the phones, do I do voice disguiser as well? Okay. Voiced disguiser or no? So these people are willing to admit that they've had a sicky day when they weren't sick but called and sick.
Starting point is 00:47:01 Hello, Cam. Cam, that's your fake name, Dahl. Oh, that's that me? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, there you are. Oh, the big Ronnie, the big Cameron. Yeah, you're a big Cameron.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Okay, so fake name Cameron. Are you willing to admit that you've had a sick day when you weren't sick? Yeah, the last couple of weeks. Two weeks? Yeah. Two weeks off. As soon as I got granted my two weeks, leave, that was me playing Fortnite for two weeks straight.
Starting point is 00:47:33 But what happens when you do get sick? True. Oh, I'm buggered. Okay. Wait, so is today your first day back at work after two weeks of playing Fortnite? Yeah, I'm actually running late, so I can't be too long. Okay, but hold on. So the flu is going around, Cam.
Starting point is 00:47:49 So the chances of you getting like a flu or something like that are quite high. So you're going to have to go to work when you get it. Yeah, no, I had one two weeks ago, remember? Oh, yeah, of course, yeah, two weeks ago. Yeah. Oh, you run a risky system, Cam, but... Okay. All right, we've got Jade on the voice disguiser.
Starting point is 00:48:05 Hi, Jade. Good morning. Oh God, you do sound stuffed up. Jade, have you pulled a sickie when you're not sick at all? Absolutely, all the time. All the time. Okay, no guilt. No guilt!
Starting point is 00:48:19 What was the last thing you decided to pull a sickie for? Like, what were you doing with the day? Sometimes I've got something else on with another job or I want to spend my son. Yeah, but I have no guilt. I've been mucked around in my job for the past year. the promotion and then stakes with it and just mucking around so I don't feel bad okay well that's good to know that we put you on a voice
Starting point is 00:48:46 just guys but you've got a very specific accent so people won't be able to pick you out there as a team we asked to put all Brady producer Brady producer Carl Dan and Clinton and me we're going to do that next where we think you guys can find out and we'll find out with each other how many times we're pulled tickets
Starting point is 00:49:05 and we're going to keep this anonymous Sure. 100% me because you always do this. But I can't tell anyone's writing. Just the number. Okay, and if you have only just tuned in and you have pulled a sickie, we'd love to know what was the last thing you pulled a sickie for. What was so important that you had to lie.
Starting point is 00:49:20 Victoria had to good reasons. I've double-tap that. Maybe you should pull a sickie, Clint. Yeah, take a day, mate. And action. The Edge is the home of Clint McGendown. Wow, I'm shocked by the text coming in this morning. Gen Z are the most common generation to pull a sickie.
Starting point is 00:49:41 In fact, 83% have admitted the... Sorry, 82% have admitted to pulling... I just want to get the facts straight. It's not true false facts. We're a factual show. Yes, absolutely. They've admitted to taking a sick day when they are, of course, are absolutely fine.
Starting point is 00:49:55 And that's compared to 43% of people age 55 and up. Okay, we got a text from... I suppose... Emma, saying, as a business owner, this pisses me off. Self-entitled. I don't think we've had a full week where we've had all staff. They use sick leave like the holidays.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Here's the blury line though. A mental health day. Yeah, I know. Because I would argue that that is just as important as like a physical sickness day. Yeah, it's absolutely not thought of as that though. No, if you're going fishing with the boys, like that's not a mental health day,
Starting point is 00:50:29 you just know the boys are going out and you want to join them. Yeah, but what if I just don't feel like working today? Is that mental health? All right. Well, let's find out why you're using a sick day because some reasons are better than others. Hannah, morning. Good morning, Hannah.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Okay, the last sickie you pulled, why? I pulled a sickie last week because I had unprotected sex and I needed to get a cop-out IUD put in. I mean, you take the pill after you have unprotected sex. Were you putting the... Oh, you did that, and then you put the... I did that, and the pharmacist was like... I think you're ovulating.
Starting point is 00:51:07 It may not work. And I was like, oh, no. And he's like, I would recommend going to go get a copper of O-U-T. And so I didn't want to risk it. And I was like, you know, I didn't know. I didn't know that was like a prevention afterwards. I thought that was just that prevention for future times. Better living, everyone.
Starting point is 00:51:23 It's like 99% effective. Wow. Okay. So why do you need a day off for that, though? Because I feel like it's just... Why do you need a day off for that? When was the last time you had copper put up your bum or your bit? I think of they're putting up your bum.
Starting point is 00:51:33 I'm just trying to think of where I could have. put it. Hannah, sorry, we've stuffed that up. We put it up your bum. Sorry. You're going to need another one. We won't charge you for two though. We'll just charge you for the one.
Starting point is 00:51:45 I feel like that's just a sick day. Hannah can have a sick day to put the copper IUD in? That's a sick day. Can I just say I've never had copper at my mum? Just through the record. Hannah, we're going to give you a pass on that one actually. Come on. Well done.
Starting point is 00:51:58 All right. Megan, what did you pull a sickie for? I had my bridal hair and makeup trial and then engagement photo shirt in the afternoon. No, that's different. Okay, now that is not getting a medical procedure. What did you say you had, like, diarrhea? What did you say?
Starting point is 00:52:14 Yeah, I have an upset stomach. Yeah, that's a thing to go. Yeah, no one asks. Yeah, no one asks questions. Or personal reasons. And you don't need to go to the doctor necessarily for an upset stomach so they don't ask for a doctor's certificate. So true.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Bex wants to voice this guys. Okay, over to Bex. Hi, Bex. Hello. Hello. Okay, you took three days off sick, even though you weren't for what? I brought a dog Oh
Starting point is 00:52:39 Well they would eventually find that out Wouldn't they? But I guess they wouldn't put two and two together That's why you took three days off Yes no So I had real bad hay fever For two days leading up to it Which made it look like
Starting point is 00:52:52 I had a flu And then I was able to use that As a reason to take another four days off And I pretended I got a dog Three weeks before that Okay There's a lot of lies building He's done the groundwork.
Starting point is 00:53:07 Not as bad as this one who didn't want to go to work. So Fake cried on the phone and then got carried away and said that someone died and they gave them three days off bereavement for no dead person. A dead person is a good one though. Like if you name like an auntie that he don't care about and say that they passed. The car passed twice. You've got to keep up with it. True.
Starting point is 00:53:24 You've got to keep it. Don't name Auntie Jane twice. I've got a little notes that we've got here. Anonymous notes from everybody in the room. Clint, Dan, me, producer Brady, producer Carl. There's only one Gen Z in the room. room, isn't there? How many sick days have we pulled in our career?
Starting point is 00:53:39 I thought it was ever. Okay, here we go. Five to eight times in the last ten years. That's one of them. Anonymous, remember these are anonymous. Oh, it sounds like you don't want us to speculate that that's you. Zero. Zero.
Starting point is 00:53:52 Piss off. Who's lying? So someone, no... Someone's getting defensive? That's not him. That's not his. This person's saying they've never pulled a sick day. Oh, God, what a saint.
Starting point is 00:54:02 Another zero. Piss off. Three. None at this job, though. Even three, I think. And four. So somebody's done five to eight. Mick, you and I are the zeros because we're doing. There's no way.
Starting point is 00:54:16 Zero. It takes like every second week off. Purs off. I've taken four. Four was mine. He's got three. Brady, what was yours? Three.
Starting point is 00:54:25 Yeah, yours is the most. All right. Not in this job. In the past ten years. Not yet. When I was producing, God, I was away every second day. Look at the boss shaking his head. He's writing something on his whiteboard.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Oh, you were still in. nappies when I was producing, mate. Okay, up next. Easy money, your chance win a thousand bucks. If you can give us 10 answers starting with Z next, oh, 100 the edge. Easy money. Clint. Time.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Get you ready, Bergen? And Dan. Oh my God, easy money. 30 seconds on the clock. Give us 10 answers this morning starting with Z. All right. And you get a thousand bucks. The letter Z is yours this morning.
Starting point is 00:55:01 I think that's quite a good one. You're lucky. Oh, I don't know. I'm so glad. Yeah. No, it is good. It's good because. You know that they're only choosing categories that there are answers for,
Starting point is 00:55:14 and because Z is harder, it makes it more specific. You're good. I think you've got this. You can pass. Chanel and if we've got time, we'll come back. You just can't give us the same answer to us. Here we go. Give me a name.
Starting point is 00:55:30 Zoe. A food. Pass. A movie. Zootopia. Something you dress as for Halloween. Zombie. A number.
Starting point is 00:55:45 Zero. An activity. A famous person. Zeus? A song title. Time. Shalal. It's through seven.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Food we had here was zucchini, I guess, an activity you could go zip-lining, Zimbabuu. Yeah. That would have been pretty, yeah. Well, don't, Chanel. It wasn't a bad show. You just wasn't great. Zeus was a good one for a famous person. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:17 That's a good one. Zendaya was in the mixed together. Good on you, Chanel. Well done, property manager in Auckland. Sorry, babe. Thank you, guys. No worries. Back again tomorrow at 7 and 8 if you want to have a cracket and think you can score a thousand bucks.
Starting point is 00:56:32 Now, there's a very, very famous actor. I'd say we'd put him on the A list if we played A list. And he has pivoted very, very deeply or very hard, a hard pivot on a career path. Okay. Well, it's still acting or is completely walked away? Well, I think he's maybe going to go back to acting, but he's, focusing on this new profession and it's a hard pivot. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:54 When you get enough money, you can just start doing whatever you want, even if you suck at it. That'd be fun. Get you, Clint McGe and Dan Fax. Now Meg, you'd know the actor, the famous actor, Tom Hardy. I know him because he is very attractive. He's also Bain, Pinky Blinders. Oh, he's bane here.
Starting point is 00:57:14 Oh, you think darkness is your allies. You merely adopted the dark? I was born in it Moulded by it Oh you love it Yeah yeah I love him in that movie I love those movies actually In fact all his lines in the
Starting point is 00:57:31 The Batman movies are like Soundbites It's a great script for him Because he just everything he says Anyway he's done a complete career pivot As of a couple of days ago He's released a rap album A good rap album
Starting point is 00:57:48 He's an English actor So is it like Is it like, what kind of What kind of crap? You have a listen. It's not my vibe. Okay, well, producer Brady has loaded his three most listened to songs
Starting point is 00:58:01 in the Spotify charts at the moment. Frenzy in a far-off world. The fabric on my tunic is black matter. It's also got a song called Brothers Grim. This is Venom, right? He plays Venom. Yes, yes, it's another one as well. The new chapter
Starting point is 00:58:22 Oh yeah I'm supposed to come in by now right Another song Called All It Takes is One Bad Day Yeah but you know how doctors are Doctors are Doctors are Doctors are
Starting point is 00:58:38 It's definitely an acquired taste Isn't it He runs by the alias Frankie Pulitzer That's his name But it's Tom Hardy Oh Yeah
Starting point is 00:58:48 Why doesn't he want Why wouldn't just use your own name Well I guess Because maybe a lot of actors do this And people that are from other professions they like to kind of separate their worlds and they don't want to have people listen to them just because they're Tom Hardy.
Starting point is 00:59:00 They want to have like fans that are there just because they like the music. But it's an interesting vibe, in it? Wow. One hell of a career pivot. Yeah. I mean, I guess once you've kind of clocked it and you've done a lot of things in one industry,
Starting point is 00:59:17 you go, wonder if I should do something else. I mean, Zendaya is the opposite, right? She started how as a singer and then moved into actor. She did indeed. I'm looking at it. It looks like Tom Hardy used to like to do this when he was younger, so maybe he's just like getting to the point of like, why not just do it? I found a few bits of footage of him used to doing this when he was like in his teens and stuff.
Starting point is 00:59:34 So, but I don't think he even actually made anything of it. Actually, Lady Gaga, another one that was singing and then gone into acting. But I feel like that path is more susceptible than the other way around. I agree. I think that's sort of more of an easy jump. There's a few, I mean, you probably won't know her. Lucy Hale, she was an actress in pretty little lies. She turned into a country singer.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Again, acting to singing, I think, is easy. I want to hear from people. In fact, let's do this. Oh, 800 of the edge. You can text 334.3. Big career pivots. I'm talking, you used to be a truck driver. And now you're a surgeon.
Starting point is 01:00:05 Okay. Is this game appropriate? Upgrade. Or downgrade. Yeah, we can say whether it's a downgrade. You'd hope it would be an upgrade, though, wouldn't you? Okay, so you'd tell us your hard career pivot, what you used to do and what you do now,
Starting point is 01:00:17 and we'll tell you if it's an upgrade or a downgrade. Simple. I mean, I used to work at the bank, and now I work in radio what would you say that is? Because I feel like I sometimes I wonder if I'd stay at the bank whether I would have worked my way up
Starting point is 01:00:32 and now I'd be the CEO. There's never, you were never going to do that so I'd say upgrade for now. Upgrade. Yeah, you lost $10,000 one time and you don't know where it went. To this day. CEOs and banks don't do that.
Starting point is 01:00:43 Yeah, fair enough. All right, upgrade or downgrade, hard career pivots. What were you and what do you do now? Oh, Boston's text were a great one which we're going to get you on next, Boston, because this is great. Get you Clint McGee and Dan Fix
Starting point is 01:00:54 Edge Tom Hardy has moved from acting to rapping and has just released a now Yeah the guy who play Bain and Venom He's now doing music Is it rude for me to say I think he should have stuck to acting? I mean I've seen his movies haven't listened to a lot of his music
Starting point is 01:01:17 But I'd say his acting is better than he's acting is phenomenal Yeah for sure So we're doing upgrade downgrade This can actually be quite harsh, can't it? Because some people couldn't help their career move because maybe they were fired from their previous job and now they're doing something that wasn't as good. Usually people texting and call up about this
Starting point is 01:01:32 is because they're proud of the move. Yeah. Okay, let's go to Boston. Boston first. Hi, Boston. Morning. Morning, mate. Okay, so what was your old job?
Starting point is 01:01:43 I was a truck driver. Okay, so great profession. They can be paid very well if they're long-haul truck drivers. And what are you doing now? I wasn't a long-haul, but now I'm doing an apprentice drain. layer. So a bit of a change. You get dirty a lot more, I'd imagine. Yeah, and you get poos on your hands and stuff.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Oh, yeah, definitely. Definitely. No, you're not supposed to get poos on your hands. Why are you putting poos on your hands? No, it's the plumber. What are you talking about? I don't know. It's just a bad drag. Okay. Hmm. I'm going to go I think he's at the start of a ladder which is going to
Starting point is 01:02:15 end up better. Yeah. I'm happy if you're happy, Boston. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Upgrade for Boston. Well done. What about you, Trani.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Trani. Trani. Sorry. Spelling. Good morning. Trani. Trani morning. What was your old job?
Starting point is 01:02:36 And what was your new job? Sorry, I marked that up. That's all right. No, my old job. So I used to work for countdown, like as a duty manager and stuff and supervisor. I'm now a police officer. Oh, yeah. Upgrade.
Starting point is 01:02:53 Sorry. Meg there's off here Meg's left the show She's walked out and left us With the grenade I'm sorry that we've referred to you Wrong name there We're not going to go back to it
Starting point is 01:03:05 Because it was But I thought I was gonna die I couldn't breathe Oh god I think that's an upgrade Yeah I think so Trani thank you
Starting point is 01:03:13 I think it's an upgrade Thank you babe Yeah it is And thank you for keeping us safe They're out in the streets Oh we got the giggles Yeah Better work stories for sure
Starting point is 01:03:19 Well done Thanks Trani Trani For people playing at home Yeah. Just... Carl, you've got to be better at spelling, man. Someone says my friend was a rubbish truck driver and is now a dentist.
Starting point is 01:03:33 As long as they've washed their hands between professions, I think... Good to... Upgrade. Okay, let's go to... Let's go to Gavin. Morning, Gavin. Hello? Hello, Gavin.
Starting point is 01:03:46 So you... Sorry, we've still got the giggles, but we're going to pull ourselves together. I'm going to be professional. The fact that we're still in this break is unbelievable. Okay, so let's finish with you, Gav. Okay, so what did you use? to be. So,
Starting point is 01:03:56 I started off as an electronic technician. Yes. Got snapped up and moved into a union organizer role,
Starting point is 01:04:04 then got headhunted and became a national HR manager. And for the last 13 years ran our own
Starting point is 01:04:13 kennel and catarie and ran a dog rescue. Oh yeah, definitely I'm great to be running a dog rescue
Starting point is 01:04:19 would be like, only can hear them in the one background they're agreeing with me. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:04:23 I can't. Yeah, yeah. But what would Tranny think? No, thank you, Gavin. Thank you. Yeah, everyone. Okay, so now I was going from a beauty therapist.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Now they're a career driver. We've got to be looking at less bits and pieces, surely. That's true, touching other people's bodies and stuff. Different kind of packages now, I think. I think a lot of people, a lot of drivers listen to the show, which is great. Lots of truck drivers, lots of courier drivers. Thanks for your listening. Yeah, we do love that.
Starting point is 01:04:51 Thank you so much. Especially after this last break. Good to know that Meg is a flawed. when it comes to fight or flight, hey. Don't leave you guys. Just left us out to drive. She was like dropping a grenade. She's like, see you guys later.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Clint McGinn, Dan. Edge Breakfast. The Edge. The Edge. Bestie Bestie. Olivia Dean Edition. Nice, Shail. The lines are open now for a couple minutes.
Starting point is 01:05:16 Call 0800 the Edge to get you and three of your besties on our standby list to see Olivia Dean live in Auckland. We'll also cover your flight. And accommodation for the weekend as well, which would be fun. So if you aren't on the standby list, now is the time 0-800-the-edge. All you'd need is spending money. Really, wouldn't you? That's all you'd need, you'd save on an accommodation.
Starting point is 01:05:36 Yeah, a little bit. And you know what? The other three, I think, would actually cover your drinks and food. They should. They bloody well should. Yeah. A couple of free hot dogs. First time caller, Dupree, you're in the drawer.
Starting point is 01:05:48 Oh, thank you so much. You're welcome. That's a lovely name. Remember that movie, you, me and Dupree? Remember that movie? Yeah. She's actually coming on my birth. birthday, so.
Starting point is 01:05:57 Oh, wow, that'd be awesome. What a birthday gift. Yeah. October 17th? How old are you turning? Yes, yeah. 27. Nice.
Starting point is 01:06:06 What a birthday gift that would be. Yeah, that'd be amazing. Okay, to put you in the drawer, okay, as well as you, Mel. Hello. Hello. Morning, Mal. How's the rangiora this morning? Rangiora is nice and sunny.
Starting point is 01:06:18 Yeah. A brief bit sunny. Unlike a lot of the South Island this morning, very cold, icy conditions in central Otago, so good on you for being sunny. Not that you had any control of them now Yeah, no, I guess Thanks Wait, are we just getting to see Dan's flirt game
Starting point is 01:06:35 Yeah, I don't know what's happening now Here you go, go, go and have a flirt with Kelly Morning, cow Morning, Yeah, oh How's it going? How are you doing this morning? God, what are the chances if I start flirting with someone
Starting point is 01:06:50 It's a dude called Kelly? That's my luck Oh, good. Yeah, hey, Kelly, you're on the standby. Who are you going to take if you win, Kelly? He's a man of food. Who are you going to take if you were? Probably my husband, niece and nephew.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Nice. All right, nice. All right, best luck. You've got a week to wait. Okay, keep going. Courtney, morning. Good morning. You were in the drawer.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Oh, my God. God, thank you so much. This has made my bloody day. You're so welcome. You've got a week to wait. Hopefully we call you Monday. If you get a call from a unknown or blocked number, then that one could be us.
Starting point is 01:07:35 So don't let that one go to one's phone. All right, thanks, Courtney. She'd take her three besties. Oh, nice. All right, tickets are sold out. The only way to get there will be to get on the standby list. So listen out for the festy bestie cue to call. There is one in every show, so that is ours done.
Starting point is 01:07:48 I was there the other day at the Western Springs Bowl. It looks incredible now. The lighting looks amazing. It looks amazing. like it's got like a platform for the stage. It's funny because you guys were saying that the money that was put into it was like pathetic. So you thought that there wasn't going to be much changes. Well, they've done very well with that $2 million.
Starting point is 01:08:03 That's good. Yeah, they've really stretched out. Okay, next on the show. It's back. One truth. Two lies. And $500. All right, we get our first story.
Starting point is 01:08:19 It's out of the gate. We have been told by producer Carl. But is it the truth? Or are they lying to us? It's your job to help us work out who is telling the truth so we can award the $500 to the right person next. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover
Starting point is 01:08:34 and catch up wherever. This is Clint Meg and Dan. The edge. One truth. Two lies. And $500. Clint's Megan Dan. Okay, one of them has to be telling the truth
Starting point is 01:08:49 about how they accepted a deer and ended up learning to walk again because it obviously went badly. We're going to hear from Jason first, but obviously we'd love to get your initial thoughts on whether you think he's telling the truth or not. Yeah, maybe you just have a feeling in your waters before you've heard the other stories. Yeah, that could be the thing. We want to award $500 to the person we think is telling the truth. Jason's up first.
Starting point is 01:09:12 Morning, Jace, what allegedly happened to you, bro? So I agreed to a deer that ended me up in hospital and needing to learn how to walk again. Oh, the hell, that sounds like a serious injury. Classic, okay. Tell us how it went down. So the deer was if the All Blacks lost to France in a rugby match, that I would have to do a nudie run. The All Blacks won.
Starting point is 01:09:37 My mate would have to do it. Oh, okay. A nudie run is in like a streak during the game? Right. No, after the game. Are you at the game or is this just at your house around the neighbourhood? Just around the neighbourhood, yeah. Okay, right.
Starting point is 01:09:49 So the All Blacks, I guess, lose. you have to do the nudie run what happens next so my mate was leaving went outside decided oh now's the time to do it cash in while he's hot yeah yeah so took off there's a bridge just up the road ran up the bridge
Starting point is 01:10:10 and I was just like I'll just jump across to the other side didn't stop and look anyway there's about a meter gap between the two bridges and I fell about four odd metres to the ground My goodness. Now Jason, it's just taken her headphones off, even listening to that. So you've fallen down, I'm imagining that that's where you sustain the injury. Paint the picture, you're naked.
Starting point is 01:10:31 Apparently. You've hurt something in your body. What's the injury here? Both wrists were severely broken halfway up my arms. And at that stage, that's all I could tell. So I got myself to my feet, walked myself back, and told my mate to get me dressed and take me to hospital. Jace, whose house were you watching the game at? Yours or his?
Starting point is 01:10:56 My parents. So wouldn't you be very aware of the surroundings if you've been to your parents' house before that that bridge has a gap in it? No, I'd never taken any notice. Obviously, I'd driven over the bridge numerous times and knew there was a slight height difference, but I'd never taken any notice of the gap.
Starting point is 01:11:13 You go to hospital, I'm guessing you're like, I think I've broken my wrists. Is that where you say, are you crying? Are you upset? Are you laughing still? What's the vibe? The vibe in the car was, as soon as the adrenaline wore off, that's when I started noticing the pain in my back.
Starting point is 01:11:28 And I said to my mate, mate, you've got to hurry, but also be careful. My back is killing me. And visibly my wrists were, you know, halfway down my arm, so my arms were sort of shorter. Oh my God. Meg asked the question and then takes your headphones off as soon as you start giving an answer.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Okay, the biggest injury is your arm. I want to know how you had to learn to walk again. Too late, Glenn. I think that's time, unfortunately, leave your next question. It does seem believable, but also a very extreme story. For your sake, Jay's, I hope that's a lie. Like, if we find out that's a lie, then thank God,
Starting point is 01:12:01 because that sounds bloody awful. But if we decide that that is the truthful story by the end of the week, bro, it'll be worth $500. It would be a nice way to end the week. $500, that's for sure. Yeah, all right. Let's see how the other two go, mate. You tell a bloody good story whether it's truthful or not.
Starting point is 01:12:17 Thanks, Jase. Cheers, mate. So far, Jace, a lot of. people saying lie out the gate but then someone's just come through now saying truth Graham. Truth teller he think we've already got the truth teller the other two are lying already through their teeth. I have my suspicion
Starting point is 01:12:31 I thought I caught him on one thing. Really? What? When he said he obviously said at the start he had to learn to walk again. But then when he hurt himself he said he walked out back to his mate to take him to hospital. Oh but that happens a lot of the time the adrenaline keeps you walking and then after you like lay down and stuff
Starting point is 01:12:47 things happen. Then you seize up. Oh right. Snap. Okay. You think I think, okay. But what do you think? Truth or lie? I wait under the edge. Your favorite radio show? In podcast form.
Starting point is 01:12:58 Edge breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan. Edge. One truth. Two lies. And $500. If you just tuned in, you missed Jason's story about how he accepted a deer that ended him up in hospital, learning to walk again. So the deer was, if the All Blacks lost to France and a rug, match that I would have to do a
Starting point is 01:13:23 nudie run, took off, there's a bridge just up the road, ran up the bridge, and I was just like, oh, just jump across to the other side. Didn't stop and lock. There's about a metre gap between the two bridges, and I fell about four odd metres to the ground. Whatever it is, it made me cringe at least. Charlene, though, what do you think?
Starting point is 01:13:39 Do you think it's a true story from Jace or no? Charlene, morning. Oh, yeah, sorry. Yeah, I think he's telling the truth. I think that a lot of people are saying the as you, Charlene. They believe the story. He just had a lot of confident detail, but Mia is thinking maybe a lie. Hi, Mia.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Hi, yeah, he's full of shit. I'm sorry. Oh my God, so you're full on. Okay, why? Why? What threw it for you? Well, if you're paralyzed, you don't just get up and walk. Like, if you're paralyzed on impact, I'm sorry, but how can you walk to the car? If you've slipped a disc gear, maybe it would come afterwards, but then his whole story was just all over the place. I did Google at me because I was the same as you. How did he get up if he was paralyzed? And there is cases, many cases where people have had a serious back injury and got up straight after the injury.
Starting point is 01:14:37 And then later down the track have lost the ability to walk. I'm still confused about the fact that he didn't know there was a gap between the bridges, really. Well, Tony makes a very good point. Damn, none of us thought to ask. She said it would have been good to know where the bridge was so we could verify the gap. He said there's an old bridge and a new one. They built them together with about a four-meter gap. Maybe we could do that.
Starting point is 01:14:58 We could find out where the bridge is, and then Meg goes down and tries to jump and see if she can do it. Four-meter gap. Jump four metres. I can barely jump a meter. No. I think you're doing yourself a disservice.
Starting point is 01:15:10 Also, Chris says it's a lie. The last time the All-Backs played France was actually a World Cup game. He didn't say it wasn't a World Cup game. He just said it was a match. Good point, though. But do you think he would have said, being a juror,
Starting point is 01:15:21 Do you think he would have mentioned it was during the World Cup? If he's telling the truth, you would have given the detail. This is why we need you guys, eh? We need the jury. Yeah, you guys are smart. You know what? You've led us astray only once. Other times you've been bang on.
Starting point is 01:15:36 Yeah. Okay, well we'll hear a couple more stories same time just after 8.30 tomorrow. And they'll be having at least the same start of the story that they accepted a dare that put them in hospital, learning to walk again. That is Jason's alleged story. Playing this game makes me want to be jury, Judy. One time? Yeah, I thought about that the other day.
Starting point is 01:15:54 I thought I've never been asked, and I don't think I ever will. I've been asked twice, and I've got out of it both times. Why? Why did you get out of it? Well, I'd work in other things, and I didn't think I wanted to do it, whereas now I really would love to do it. Actually, you do have enough time off. We can't have another jury-duty. Oh, my God, can you imagine that?
Starting point is 01:16:11 By the way. He's got another two days off this week. Anyway, you guys will be fine. Okay, up next, should we take the pilot's license off him, that flew over the All Blacks game. Supposedly, this was how far he was from the stadium. Flight tracking estimates revealed the planes were just 12.5 meters above the stadium's 50 meter high. That is incredible. That is super, way too low for an airline.
Starting point is 01:16:37 Way too low. We'll see next. Clint McGinn Dan. It's Breakfast. The Edge. Let's get into it. It's Clint Megan Dan's. Sport Roundup.
Starting point is 01:16:47 Up the Waz! Well, because Jack Black's just gone up the waz, I'll give you the update. The Warriors' worst finish. We'll be second if we lose next week. But if we win, depending on how much we win by, we could finish minor premieres. Top of the table for only the second time in the Warriors' history.
Starting point is 01:17:04 The amazing thing yesterday was that Jet Clary, who was the son of Ivan Clary, who years and years ago played for the Warriors, then even coached the Warriors. Okay. His son had his debut yesterday. and all the Clary family were there watching, cheering them on. Is that lovely?
Starting point is 01:17:19 Jet was only 21 years of age. First game had a bloody blinder. Oh, nice. Blighted been good or bad? Yeah, good. Full time here at Go Media Moundsmart Stadium in Auckland. The Warriors are top of the log, heading it to the final round. Imagine if they end up playing each other, Nathan Clary and Jet Clary,
Starting point is 01:17:38 Panthers Warriors in a grand final. Yeah. So it was a good result for the Warriors, not so good for the All Blacks going down to the Spring. box. I can't remember the score there, but the talk of the game was the two planes that flew over the stadium. It's loud because it was close. I
Starting point is 01:18:00 could not believe. This looked like AI. It's so crazy. They do this quite a lot in South Africa. There was a famous one during a World Cup where they flew a 747 over the stadium quite low, but not this low. So there were two air link planes that flew in unison
Starting point is 01:18:16 over the stadium. One in particular, was 12 feet above the top of the stadium which is extremely low extremely low for an earliner there would have been the things going off in the cockpit going like boop-boot terrain to rain pull up is that what it does or just do that in video games
Starting point is 01:18:37 no and it in real life how do you know because I've watched when was the last time you were in a cockpit cockpit oh good well how do you know I have been I have been in many cockpits So, I'm in my time.
Starting point is 01:18:49 Where was the last time you were in a cockpit? I don't. Like, not when the plane's flying. Never. Oh, so how do you know how makes the noise? Because I've seen videos on YouTube of different cockpits. Oh, you don't want to be Googling that. Just trust me.
Starting point is 01:19:03 Okay. Anyway. So I think that would have happened. And now there's calls for the pilots to be fired because it was way too low, obviously. Well, because he's in a sticky situation because he has to either be like, no, I meant to do that. And I knew what I was doing. And then you're like, well, that's careless and you're an idiot. Or he has to admit.
Starting point is 01:19:18 He didn't mean to do that. And he would never normally do that, and therefore he's being reckless. And can I also have a pilot confirm that it does go boop-boop, tarang, to ring, pull up, boop, just so I don't look like an idiot. I think it's a reach to think that a pilot listens to us. Oh me, don't sell us down. Okay. We've got lawyers, we've got our doctors, we've got all sorts of people that listen to this show.
Starting point is 01:19:41 Comic relief mainly. Politicians, I know Winston Peters listens. No, he does not. Can you imagine? If we are, when do you call it up Bits and bobs of our show? Yeah, you never know. Okay, pilots, if you're out there, let us know, is Dan right?
Starting point is 01:19:56 I wait under the edge. Fire us a text, 3, 3, 4, 3 if you're busy and you're on the way to fly everyone everywhere. I mean, that's not all we're doing next, but just if you can let us know, we're not doing a full break on it. Want to hear more of Clint, Meg and Dan, but completely unfiltered.
