Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Get the edge off your mornings with Clint Meg and Dan etch breakfast. Good morning, it is. One to six. Good luck, Richie. He's finest of tech saying, just finished work. Put him on call for the next two hours. Wish me luck, team. Hey, Richie's the security guard, isn't he?
Starting point is 00:00:19 Is he the security guard? I think so, because he stays up kind of overnight, doesn't he? Yeah, yeah. He's like Batman. He protects us while we sleep. We don't know the great work he's doing, but he's out there. What would you be on call as a security guard for? For people breaking in? Oh, surely that's the new guys.
Starting point is 00:00:33 problem. You'd be like, I'm out, mate. I finished at six. That's true. But maybe he needs backup. You know, and they're like, when you're back up. When he's back up, there's more than, there's five of them, Batman here. He takes, yep, Batman here. Now, Richie, do you like Batman wear your undies over your pants? Because I only take advice from security guards to do that. Do you think that Batman wore undies underneath and then the leggings and then
Starting point is 00:00:55 undies on top? Or did he just do leggings and undies on top? These are all questions, Meg, which are too much for this early in the morning. for the Overthinkers podcast after the show. Right, sure. Yeah, maybe we're looking to that. All right, if you want to go to Dom Lola, listen up for your cue to call. There's going to be one that plays in every show. Every show is a double-passer Dom Dola, so if you want to win yours, listen out for it and be the first row on 0800, The Edge.
Starting point is 00:01:18 The Edge is the home of Clint McGahn. Clint Meg and Dan. Time for a little coffee catch-up, a little whip around, see what each other's been up to. Kiyoda, morning. Meg, you love fruit and veg, don't you? Brilliant. Yeah. As a vegetarian.
Starting point is 00:01:33 each other. I actually genuinely, you know what, Dad, I do love it. I love all of it. I eat it. Every day I go home and have like this huge plate of raw vegetables and I love it. And that's all she eats because she doesn't eat meat. She has fish, meat and veg. Yeah, that's it.
Starting point is 00:01:47 I mean, fish vegetables. Anyway, so I've got this lovely man that lives opposite from me. When I say lovely, he's a nightmare because he brings over, he's obviously got like a little garden out the back of his house that he grows fruit and veg. but he brings over all this deformed stuff so like every week every week we have a bucket on the he comes over and knocks on the door and goes
Starting point is 00:02:10 hello you're home and I go oh piss off honestly like under my breath I don't say it to his face and then he'll give us like a bucket of fruit and it's all deformed like literally like a carrot but it's like split three ways and like it's got some sort of it's organic do you know how much more people pay for that rotten strawberries
Starting point is 00:02:25 like potatoes that when you cut them in half there's something inside them like it's just constant and he brings them over because they don't want to eat them. I know why he does it because they don't want to eat them him and him and his old wife so they bring them over to us. He doesn't want to waste them. I'll give him to that... Lovely couple.
Starting point is 00:02:41 And so yesterday, our house looks out like over there so I can see him coming from across the road and dottering over to our place with all this rotten deformed fruit. And so I saw him coming yesterday and I locked the door, told George because I was my son, two-year-old son. I was like, let's go and
Starting point is 00:02:58 hiding the toilet. Come over here. So he hidden the toilet and he comes and knocks on the door going, got some fruit for you. Got some fruit. We ignored him and he went, walked away. Went out, he'd not only left some deformed fruit and some deformed vegetables, but also a half eaten packet of cereal,
Starting point is 00:03:14 like this brand stuff which I would never eat. That's weird. That's weird, eh? That is weird. Weird. And like two packets then of chocolate chip cookies that I don't know if his wife is baked or whether they've just got packets of chocolate chip cookies. You are such a horrible, deeply horrible person. Deeply, deeply horrible.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah, I agree. This little old man, lady, like this lovely young couple that probably reminds them of them when they were younger and we're at the prime of their life. And they go, let's help them out. Let's make this to pay. Give us lovely bits of fruit. He looks at your house, which to you is just across the road.
Starting point is 00:03:50 But for him, he's like, oh, that's a marathon. He's not that old. He's not that old. No, he's not that old. Like if you're that lovely, give us nice fruit. Oh, piss off, dad. actually can't stand you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Or throw it out. No one wants deformed rotten fruit. Bring it for me. And then he goes all the way to Danzell's knocked on the door. It's going to be the highlight of the old man's day, having some human interaction. And then he just hears you through the door going, George, shh, he'll hear a shh. I had my hand over towards his mouth like I kidnapped him.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Just in case he goes, we're in here. That's going to be a therapy session one day. My dad used to hide from this old man that gave us through. I mentioned the old man. He's looking around, waiting, waiting. and then he like pans his head down and sees the car in the driveway and he's like, be ignored again. And we've tried to eat it.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Honestly, we've tried to cut up his deformed three-headed carrots, but they're just not edible. I think you see, stop. Bring them in. I reckon that carrot you could put on, trade me and make some money. I knew you would. I'll eat it. Bring it in.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Okay, I'll bring one in next time. And you'll hate it. And I'll love it. I'll go, yummy, yummy, yummy, organic vegetables. Oh, you're dry reaching. Get your Clint McGreg and Dan Fax. All right, give us call. 0800 at the edge.
Starting point is 00:05:01 let's settle this. Do you make your bed in the morning? It's Clint McGinn dance. Let's settle this right now. I liked your pause for effect. Thank you so much. It was definitely planned. Yeah, do you make your bed in the morning as an adult?
Starting point is 00:05:14 As kids, we were kind of always forced to do it. It was something that you were told that you had to do to be a successful young person in life. But who actually is doing it as an adult in their real life? Dan, going over to you quickly. Don't do it. And I... Nobody got taff a day.
Starting point is 00:05:30 That's what I'm going to say. I definitely can't at 4.30 in the morning when my wife's still in the bed, but in the weekends we'll make it together. And she'll always have it made when I get home. And it says that a survey said that the people that do make their bed tend to be more confident, sociable and adventurous. I must say on the days that I do make my bed, and I'm having one of those days of like I am the greatest person
Starting point is 00:05:51 living on planet earth and I'll like make my bed and I'll have, you know what I mean? You started the day. We're ticking something off. I must say that making the bed does. make me feel superior to everybody else. All right. What else can I do? Yeah, I am unstoppable.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Those things where they say you do one thing that tick off the list in the morning. Yeah. What a load of crap. Completing the task of making your bed first thing in the morning builds quiet self-trust and gives your brain an early sense of accomplishment. Oh, do something else.
Starting point is 00:06:21 All right, we want your instant votes. Oh, 800 the edge. Also just text us if you're listening about it and you go, yes, I do, no, I don't. Make the beard. What are you doing? I want to hear from people that have got all those pillows. like those like 17 different display pillows
Starting point is 00:06:33 that you take on and off your bed every day just to display for you because no one else is going into your room, are they? We've only got 10. 10? Double digits of throw pillows. And so do you... So we have the pillow that we sleep on,
Starting point is 00:06:45 then we have the pillows that match the duvet, then we have our tri-pillows, and then we have Euro pillows, and then we have two decorative ones that go in front of the other eight. Yeah. Okay. I feel like I can't tell my kids
Starting point is 00:06:57 to make their beds if I don't, so I have to like, oh, be the... Example. example. Daniel, do you make your bed, yes or no? Morning team. Yes, I do, and so do all three kids. Running a tight ship there, Daniel. Now, how many display pillows are you rocking? Oh, we've just got the, like, we've just got the Euro pillows,
Starting point is 00:07:21 the one we sleep on, and then the other, you know, that matches the duvet. Yeah, okay. So, no, like, still too many. I know your kids quite advanced? Are they in, like, teams or, you know, like the special class for, like, a year or two ahead of their actual year? They actually are, the twins especially 11.
Starting point is 00:07:41 And yes, remember, they're going to the tournament next week, that you guys have the names on the back? That's right. And are they so they're 11, but probably have a reading age of 13? Yeah, they're pretty, the maths, they're top of their class. But do you think that's because they make their beard? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:57 I don't know. Did they study? Thank you, Danny. I'm going to Jay now. Jay, do you make your beard? I make my bed every day when I can But I also leave earlier than my wife Yeah, that's tough
Starting point is 00:08:07 Yeah Now interestingly, Jay, you say When you can, on the days where you can't Do you feel less successful? I make my side of the bed I love that she's like trying to get cozy And it's like tucking in sheets But yeah, it's nice though
Starting point is 00:08:24 It makes it easy for her It starts my day off really well Yeah Okay That's good And then beer, do you make your bed? I do Because I have like cats
Starting point is 00:08:35 So sometimes they sleep on my bed No no no That's the best excuse Yeah Best excuse for not making a bed As if there's a cat sleeping on it It's a sin to move that Well it's very interesting
Starting point is 00:08:44 Because everybody here Literally 100% of the people On the text machine You overachieving people Yeah but are we shocked That our listeners are the best No one's admitted That they don't make their bed in the morning
Starting point is 00:08:55 Which shocks me Because they're all 6am like starters They're hitting the gym Like let their shit together man Good on you If you are like Dan, you don't make your beard, studies suggest that you may be more sarcastic, yes, moody, or curious. Oh, God, that's me.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Oh, that is true. You prescribed me. In Scandal coming up, is it a tour? Is it a new song? A reunion? Find out what the spy skills have announced after teasing us yesterday, and what did Jennifer Lawrence upload for a very first Instagram reel? Clint McGahn's scandal.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Jennifer Lawrence has finally joined social media after years of saying that she had a private account to troll people. She now has a public account. actually see her. This is her first reel. So, yeah, I'm giving it a shot. And if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately. No, no questions asked. We'll see you later then.
Starting point is 00:09:48 She's the first. She's hearing about the internet. Yeah, yeah. She's been very cautious of everybody, but obviously trolling. I love her. And the Spice Girls have announced they are releasing an album of all their singles in one place. Plus some unreleased and unheard of songs before from the Vault out 6th of November. And is that the vinyl and CD versions as well? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:10 How cool. Now, I think it's really cool, but people were thinking that it was going to be a tour and reunion, so they're disappointed with CDs. But I didn't really expect them to be doing that. Just hits in Auckland. The edge. Clint Meg and Dan. Posh is never agreeing.
Starting point is 00:10:28 No, no way. She's the one that always holds back. Yeah, I don't think so. But I think the album will be great I'm really, really genuinely excited as a, I guess it doesn't matter, boys love them too, but as a mother of girls, to have like a CD of the best singles
Starting point is 00:10:42 to play to my daughter. They had some absolute howlers as well, didn't they? Yeah, they did. Oh, howler, isn't that a bad thing? If you have a howler of a game, you had a terrible game. Oh, I've always seen it as a positive thing. It's just me, me though, Clint, I see something as a positive.
Starting point is 00:10:56 Clint McGinn, Dan. The Edge Breakfast. The Edge. We move on, just so no one else makes a mistake. Dan's been making for about 37 years. Having a howler of a game or producing a howler of a song
Starting point is 00:11:07 which Dan thought was a positive thing means playing terribly or making a series of massive embarrassing mistakes. Yeah, I just want to apologise to the Spice Girls because I said before that they've had some howler hits. And I thought it was a positive thing. Yeah, yeah. And that's on intentions and actions. You know what? I'm just a positive
Starting point is 00:11:26 guy and everything's positive to me. It's flat idol. Which is not true, considering about to gone to Flat Idol and Dan has, they're having some howlers. It's been very vocal. Well, to be fair, I think they've all given it a bash. Some of them have had a better bash than others. I've been really impressed by somehow every day so far.
Starting point is 00:11:43 The four songs have been made differently. We've had parodies. We've had AI. We've had fully written from the beginning. And we've also had a garage band. So why have flats gone out of their way to create original songs? They are trying to win six tickets to RMV, accommodation and a VIP Vintage Club upgrade. If you've missed the songs,
Starting point is 00:12:02 feels like they keep getting better and better, and we keep being like, that's the winner. Yeah. And then we're like, the next day, now that's the winner. Yeah. Let's go through quickly the four songs we've had this week, and then we're going to have our final finalist just after 8.30 this morning. This was White Palace.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Four-year-dezy we've earned our stripes. Four-day bend is questionable nights. Great song, but probably a heavy use of AI. Yes, yeah. Unless we can get one of the flatmates on and they can sing and you realize that to a vocal. The thing is we didn't say you couldn't use AI. Exactly. So they've done it.
Starting point is 00:12:35 They've done a good job. No AI. And I would say this is a howler. Correct yes of the term. Hey, they gave it a good bash. They also did an Olly Part and cover when they sort of mush them all together. And I think extra points for not using AI. I feel like, you know, they did it.
Starting point is 00:12:57 They did it well. Then there was the flat matter musicians or studying music. What are we going to do? Same old streets, same old boss, same old bloody you. So what's left? What is when there's nothing else to do? Yeah, a lot of people are getting high-five vibes. It's so impressive that they did this whole thing by themselves.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Every instrument you hear, that's them. It's incredible. And then the Chazettes, we were like, good luck following that. They did. Absolutely did. You went in the tickets and also get a recording contract. Like, great voice there. It had a rap break.
Starting point is 00:13:40 down as well. Yeah, the thing I liked about that is the lyric was great T, A.K.E. Us to R&V. Brilliant. The vocal was very, very well done. Production was great too. Yeah, so I don't know what the last, what's the last flight called? I hit it before, Clint. It is the chateau. The chateau. I don't know. It's shaking in their boots. And I feel that we actually have come to an end of other ways you could make a song. So I think there's going to have to be a repeat of it that's a parody or a garage band or an AI thing. Yeah. Well, the final song, We get debut just after 830.
Starting point is 00:14:11 That's when voting opens, and it'll run through to Monday 7am. And then whoever gets the most votes is going to R&V for the final dance at Yoha Hika State and Gisbon for free. Yeah, if you had a favourite, please vote because it's not up to us. We have no say. No, we don't get it. So you have to vote.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Yesterday we did our Overtinkers podcast. If you haven't listened to it, it's where we get to do a bit more loosey-goosey, and we all got very honest with ourselves. Yeah, we decided to rate ourselves out of 10. Have a thing about what you would rate the three of us out of 10 and see how close you are to what we gave ourselves. Can I be clear, though, for looks, eh?
Starting point is 00:14:43 It's looks. It's looks. And if you get it wrong, you die. So you've got to be honest. Yeah, there are a lot of stakes. Yeah. It's next on the edge. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and Catch Up wherever. This is Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge.
Starting point is 00:14:56 This is the Overthinkers podcast. Got more, Clint McG and Dan after the show. We do another podcast where we overthink a bunch of things. Up by about roughly 11 a.m. Yeah, it is usually. Yeah. Brady puts it up and he's really quick at that. Now, we're asking you to rate us out of 10.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Yeah. Which isn't something everyone does. But we came up with a hypothetical game that if 100 people ranked us out of 10 and we got that average. For looks. For looks. Don't take it, just take personality, everything out of it, just looks. What do we think that number would be? And if we're outside of the margin of error of 0.5, you die.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Yeah, either side, 0.5. And so we had to be as honest as possible where we thought we'd hold. hopefully survive. So maybe you text through Dow, initially, what your thoughts would be. Out of 10, Meg, Clint and myself. Yeah, we've had one text so far. I think we're trying to get them on in the background. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:47 That piss me off. So we all wrote our number down on a post-it note, and then we gave it to Meg, and she read them out. Clint has rated himself that he thinks he would pass away if he didn't get within 0.5 either side, 7.9. So it's an 8. He's an 8.4. I can go anywhere from 7.4. 8.4. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Can I have mine back? No. Okay, I put my number as 5.7. You're higher than that. You'd be dead. No, wait. You're so dear. You're way higher than that.
Starting point is 00:16:17 I reckon face alone, you're higher than Clint. Dan has put himself as a 7. So anywhere between a 7.5 and a 6.5. That's pouting. What do you think? So, so far, some of the texts that have come in to see if we would. be alive or dead. We've got Ritchie. Richie, do you have votes for us?
Starting point is 00:16:43 I have votes for you, yes. Yeah, go on. Dan? 10. 10. Are you dead then according to Ritchie, but that's nice? Don't lie, Richie. Don't try to. We all know I'm not a 10. Well, maybe in Richie's eyes.
Starting point is 00:16:59 You're a 10 in my eyes, mate. You're a 10 in my eyes. That's lovely, Richie. That's lovely. Okay. Okay, well, it isn't because if we go to the other votes, Dan has gotten a 5, a 6.5, a 6 and a 7. So you'd be dead, Dad.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Sorry, but I'm polarising. I'm polarising. I'm in a quiet taste. Okay, I have gotten a 5, a 6, a 7.5, a 7 and a 9. Oh, I don't know if the average would I be alive? The 5 brings me down. Okay, get your rankings in, and then we'll go and add them up, divide them by how many people texted and we'll work out if we're dead or alive.
Starting point is 00:17:32 To be fair, David's gave me a 9 and Clint of 5. I think he's got them mixed around. I think you're blind, David. Screw you, David. Put me at a seven as well, Jesus. And also, maybe you can text through and say, I would give myself a what? It's interesting trying to rank yourself
Starting point is 00:17:50 as to how you think people see you. And then you send a photo of yourself and we'll judge you. See how that feels, eh? Yeah, we'll go and Meg will do like a search on Facebook first and last name. We'll bring up the purple. Lisa say she's a nine. I doubt that, Lisa.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Hey. Your favorite radio show? In podcast form Edge Breakfast Clint Meg and Dan Jeez You guys have absolutely stirred up a bit of a hornet's nest
Starting point is 00:18:14 here in studio Yeah I'm sick of this We're gonna find out Who lives and who dies One day Can I just say One day I want to walk into a room
Starting point is 00:18:23 And go I'm the hottest one here It's never happened I'll organise it for your birthday I'll get a room It could be tomorrow It could be the next day But it won't be today
Starting point is 00:18:31 No We have asked you to rate us Out of 10 The game is that you have to give yourself a number that you think would be within the margin of error of 0.5 of what people think about you. Yeah, and it's 100 strangers that are raiding you on your looks.
Starting point is 00:18:47 We ask you to rate us on our looks. I worry that some of you are trying to be too nice to us. Don't be nice. I should have said you will die if you don't get the average too. Maybe that would change the amounts. I will say, Andrew, the guy that raided me a three. I'd like to see a photo you, you oil painting. Okay, that's all I'll say.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Okay, so Meg, we'll go to the calls, but in the background, we have collated all of the numbers, divided them by the amount of people have texted, so we do have the listener average of Meg, Dan and myself. Okay, here we go. So Jess, first off, what are you rating? Dan. Dan's a seven on video, but a nine in person.
Starting point is 00:19:25 So you're just saying, I'm ugly. At least you see me in real life. That's better. That's way better. That's way better. Okay. No, absolutely not ugly. Clint?
Starting point is 00:19:35 Eight to nine. Meg. Thanks, Jess. Eight to nine. Oh, so you'd say I'm a solid nine in real life. Absolutely. Solid none. That's a head.
Starting point is 00:19:44 I've never had that before. Good on, you can live, Jess. Jacob? Yo! Yo, Jacob. All right, let's start off. Dan. I was Dan.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I'm sorry. I went sick. Oh, I'd like to see a photo. You, Jacob. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I bet you're not great. I either, mate. All right.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Meg. I went seven. Clint. Out of the Clint, I went nine. Right. Oh, well, darned Glenn. All right. Do we, should I go to the results and find out who's dead or not?
Starting point is 00:20:13 Put a star next to Jacob's name. Oh, because. No, I put a cross a down. Okay, I've just received a four. So, like, it's really a mixed bag. Yeah, but Christine's giving you a 9.2. I know, but... Yeah, but let's not go to her because she gave me...
Starting point is 00:20:26 Oh, no, she gave me 7. She gave a 7.2. Would we like to know where we set with the average? Okay, so you've got to be within 0.5. of the answers we gave ourselves. Again, Meg, what did you give yourself? A 5.7. Okay, I gave myself a 7.9 and Dan gave himself a 7. Okay, let's find out who's alive and who's dead.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Dan, your average is 6.3, you're dead. Yeah, well, you're all ugly. No more talking from you, you're dead. Sick of all those ugly dead. Kick a fellow, I get away. Keep shooting him in the foot. Zane. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Okay. Meg, I voted myself of 5.7. I got an average of 7.4. I am dead. You deserve it. Clint, voted himself as 7.9. Got an average of 7.4, survives. You know what? Here's the thing that piss me off. I'm still the ugliest on the show, aren't I? And he's still the hottest.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And he lives. Actually and dead. Sometimes when someone's actually ugly. Maybe just give them a little bit of a higher score just so they feel better about themselves. Wait, what was Dan's average? His average is a 6.3. Oh, it's lower than you thought. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:40 So it was mine. People have gone, no, you're not that hot, Dan. So Meggs was the only one that was hotter than she thought. And they still died. It somehow survives. Anyway, let's move on. Steve's rated Mega 4. Yeah, thanks, Steve.
Starting point is 00:21:52 All right, let's joke. I think it's your personality. Easy. He even texts and he goes, no, it's definitely her looks. One letter, 10 categories, and just 30 seconds. Let's play. Easy money. Bang on 7 o'clock Friday.
Starting point is 00:22:11 We got ourselves a first-time caller as well. Just came to say hello. No, she didn't. She came to win a thousand bucks. Morning, Hayley. Good morning. And guys, she's a teacher. We've had great success with teachers over the years.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Oh my gosh. They always win. They always win. And good to know. It says here you've pulled over your car to pay. play, which is great news. Good. All right, Haley, your letter is V for very, very good.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Okay. Cool. All right, Haley, 30 seconds on the clock. Give us 10 answers. You can pass. You just can't give us the same answer twice. Good luck. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Give me a planet. Venus. A country. Oh, pass. Something you drink. A V. A girl's name. Veronica.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Something you buy at the supermarket. Vegetables? A four-liter word. Very. A car brand. Or pass. Something with buttons. A vest.
Starting point is 00:23:22 A song. You don't teach... You don't teach geography, do you, Haley? No. Vietnam, Vanuatu, Venezuela is what we had done. The car brand was Volvo or Volkswagen. And I love how you said vegetables. Vegetables. Vegetables.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Vegetables. We have a bloody good Friday and enjoy the weekend, Haley. Thanks for playing and thanks for calling. Don't be a stranger. Thank you. I love you, Hayley. From the Hawks Bay, thanks, mate. Back again at 8 o'clock if you think you can get the job done.
Starting point is 00:23:52 And if you haven't heard the whole show from 6 to 10 every single day, you don't know what you're missing. Yep. And even though we shouldn't because it teaches you bad habits, producer Brady has got all the highlights and things that you probably shouldn't have missed for your next. The omnibus we call it This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up Want to hear the guys off air in him
Starting point is 00:24:12 Little Looser Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast Now producer Brady is doing you a solid If you've missed parts of the show this week You're oh no What am we undo I don't know if it teaches you good or bad habits Because he's just going to like spoon feed you
Starting point is 00:24:26 All the best bits now Oh but it's a delicious spoon full in it Are you nervous Meg? Yeah always I would be I'm just the way of life Clint It is always never really because we hear it at the same time you hear her.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Yeah, she's like an impala in the African desert. Yeah, she's just like looking around. Is that a lion? That looks like a lion. Giday, it's Brady, and welcome back to another producer's diary. Klim was away at the start of the week this week. And if you didn't know where he was, I've made this for you. In Hawaii, Aulani Disney Resort and Spa?
Starting point is 00:24:57 I don't know if I told you, Dan, but I was in Hawaii. Aulani Resort, beautiful spot. Dan is going to catch me up on all the things that I missed while I was away in Hawaii. And I'm back from a... pretty quick trip to Hawaii. I've been away a few days because I was in... Don't mention it. He was in Hawaii. That's all we need to know.
Starting point is 00:25:14 And if you do go there, Awalani Resort. No, no, no, no, no. Yeah, bro, get that bag. And Dan woke up on the wrong side of the bed on Monday. Ketinka, morning. Get on with it. Thank you, Kettinga. He's been in a mood or morning.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Yeah, sorry, I have. And I couldn't forget your weekly dose of Clint, Meg and Dan out of context. I'm usually waiting for an only woman to finish so I can get on. Yeah, we'll finish on GC. My wife's had my pubs in her mouth. Okay, we're finishing on a tart. F. F. F. And now it's time for the easy money blunder of the week.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Easy money. The letter is F. Ariana, give me some that you'd buy at a supermarket. Fish fingers. A country. France. A relative. Father.
Starting point is 00:26:05 An occupation. French dick maker. A drink. Just a... Oh, damn it. A drink. Fizzy drink. A musical instrument.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Finger puppet. Something hot. The's not music. The fingers. I can't say the same thing. Honestly, stop. Time. Still only one winner for Fibu.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Lucy from the Night Show came in on Tuesday to fill in for Scandal for Meg while she was away, and it didn't take long for a bit of ageism to start creeping in. I'm frothin for the In Between his movie. It must be all in their 40s now, the actors. Season 1, premiered in 2008. Tell would you have been loose? I do like two.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Baby, not in New Year. God, Clinton had already had his 30th. That's best off. He's lying, looking. Dan managed to get an unexpected confidence boost after a phoner about what was the worst thing that you've had in your mouth. I had an espresso machine. One day, you know, you pop the top open and put the pod in. I'm going to say like a three-inch cockroach crawled out.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Three-inch? It was massive. It was one of the big mama ones. Do you that, Dan? Three-inch is massive. That's very, very big. Happy for you, mate. Purchasing a house with your mate has become increasingly more popular,
Starting point is 00:27:18 but Meg isn't keen on becoming Dan's new bunk buddy. So I've got a few friends, and they were best mates. They bought a house together, like filled it with flatmates. To get even more out of the rooms, they stayed on bunk beds in one room and then rented out of the others. Oh my gosh, I don't know about the bunk bed. There you go of megan. Oh, no, you're a bedwether. I know.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Trickle down. and I'm not getting a mattress protector. And that wraps it up for producers' diary this week. Have a good weekend, you bloody legends, and up the waz. Thank you, producer Brady, up the waz. They're going to be taking on the dolphins tomorrow night. Six o'clock kickoff. And speaking of the waz, we're talking about them next.
Starting point is 00:27:57 And I believe that I am New Zealand's biggest waz jinks. And I need to find other jinks. Yeah. Clickming and Dan. Edge breakfast. And the warriors taken on the dolphins in the first round of the N. We have never won, although we have gone to the grand final, the big show twice. So we are compiling our team of New Zealand Warriors.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Clint Megan Dan's New Zealand Warriors. We want as many unlucky people, people that think there are jinks just specifically for the Warriors, or people that are just unlucky in life, to be as far away from the next few games as possible. It's a bit of a specific person because you're worried for the Warriors. You don't want to muck anything up. and if you are a unlucky person, you're going to self-sacrifice. Maybe you are a Warriors fan, but you every time you watch the game, they lose. Or you're the partner of a die-hard fan, and every time you watch the game with them, they lose.
Starting point is 00:28:51 That's been Dan's story for the last couple of months. Yeah, and I would say I'm a new fan, like I'm a new fan of the Warriors. I've only just started properly watching them in the last couple of seasons. And every time I watch a game, like specifically intently, like I sit down and watch or I go to a game, they lose. So Dan was watching the game Every time Dan was watching the game last week We won so you're like oh that's good
Starting point is 00:29:13 But Dan turned it off When we were losing And we came back in one by one point Which you missed So whenever my eyes Like laid on a game They start playing badly So this weekend
Starting point is 00:29:25 I'm gonna be as far away From the game as possible I'm not gonna watch it Doesn't even want you to talk about the waz He said full caps Dan stop even talking about it Nathan if I can't even talk about it They're gonna lose anyway
Starting point is 00:29:37 Warriors fans are very superstitious because of the fact that we've never done it. We'll be pleased to know Nathan this weekend. I'm going to be as far away from anything to do with the Warriors. I'm not even going to wear the merch. Good. I'm not going to watch the game. I'm not even going to watch updates. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:29:52 I'm sacrificing this. And I'm hoping that other people are willing to do the same if there are jinx. And I mean, that's great for this round. But we've talked about getting a bunker and putting all the jinxes in it when we have an elimination game, which could be next week if we lose. How's that going, Clint? Are you organising that in the background? Producer Carl's doing a lot of the heavy lifting on that one
Starting point is 00:30:13 because I'm going to be at the game. I'm not going to be at the bunker. So you're not going to come. You're not going to come and be the bunker with Dad. No, I'm not missing the Warriors run to the grand final. There's a couple of other people that have said they or their friends are jinxes. So we're working behind the scenes, as we say, to come up with, maybe it's not going to be this weekend.
Starting point is 00:30:32 In the next few games, we organise a bunker. Yeah, it's underground. We all go in there. We have a fun night, but there's just no Warriors there. And Warriors fans will thank you for your service. So if you are a fan of the Warriors, but you're a jinx, get in touch with us. We're organising this behind the scenes. It's going to be a fun night for everybody.
Starting point is 00:30:53 The Warriors as well, the last seven times, this is crazy. The last seven times we've played the Dolphins, we've either won or lost by within four points. The game has been that tight every single time. So, yeah, we need you to be as far away from... any broadcast Dan of the Warriors tomorrow night as possible. This is going to be a test as well because this is the first time I've properly not watched a game. Great.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Okay, good, thank you. So if we win, it's 100% on the JN. If you want to be on the team, Dan's even talking about getting shirts made and everything. You want to be on our New Zealand Warriors team? You're worried you're a Jinks 3343. Let us know. And we'll get you as far away from the Warriors games as possible. Antarctica, the boss wasn't really keen.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah, we did pitch that and then we pitched London too far as well. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax. The Edge. We started doing this before we realized that venting actually isn't good for you. Yeah, I actually looked up to the studies just so we could have something to say this is why. Like validation and what we were doing. It does say venting does not reduce anger or stress. Such a Billy D-Games moment.
Starting point is 00:32:00 And a major analysis of 154 studies involving tens of thousands. of participants found no evidence that letting out anger makes you feel any better. I do like a vent though. Yeah. But you're right, maybe I don't feel better after it long term. But it does increase arousal, if that's something you're interested in. It triggers rumination, which means like you're ruminating. You keep going round and round on those thoughts.
Starting point is 00:32:28 All right, well, just on a Friday, very quickly, before we get into the weekend, we do things we hate. And this was actually inspired by something I randomly decided to do. You said, and my wife goes, what are you doing? when I decided to FaceTime a friend without warning. I just was like, I want to chat to him, but I want to see him while I chat to him. So I phacined him while I'm making it in my wife, goes, what are you doing? What are you doing? And I was like, I'm just calling a mate.
Starting point is 00:32:49 She's like, you're FaceTiming. I was like, I know. Did they answer? No. Yeah, exactly. I would never answer an uncalled for FaceTime. I assume every time it's a butt dial. I would always text free for a quick FaceTime.
Starting point is 00:33:02 First. Yeah, yeah, that deserves a text, I reckon. And if that's happening, I'm going, then that person's, showing me they're engaged. The only time I get a FaceTime unexpectedly, I'm like, oh, somebody's got to ring on their finger, they want to show off. Yeah. The thing that I want to call out and the thing that I hate happened to me this week, and this is getting this off my chest,
Starting point is 00:33:20 I got a, can we circle back email, just circling back on this from somebody. Which, and the email was an invitation to something, which I ignored. Yeah. They wanted me to come to something. I just didn't reply to it. And then they go, just circling back on this. Can we expect you to be here? No.
Starting point is 00:33:37 So do you think that in no reply means a no? I think so. Or RSVP, no reply means no. If it's a 21st or a wedding or something, I think you need to reply. But if it's just a thing out of the blue to a like something that you don't know the person, I don't reply to you know. Sorry, my mum and I have argued about this for years because I see an RSVP as, let me know if you're coming. So if I haven't, then I'm not. Whereas my mum looks at RSVP as in you need.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Let me know if you're coming or not coming. Yeah. Because I thought it's like a yes I am. And if I don't respond, then I'm. not RSVPing to the event. So if I invite you to coming over to my house for some hors d'oeuvres and a lovely evening and I just don't receive a text back from you,
Starting point is 00:34:16 I just assume you're not coming. No, no, but some people aren't like that. Some people go, oh, that sounds good and they will show up. Because they, you know, when not replying, people will be like, yeah, you invited me, so I'm here. I think an RSVP is a list of people who are coming. No. The RSVPing, they are coming.
Starting point is 00:34:32 No, the RSVPing, yes or no. It means, like, what does RSPP stand for? Mark's text in saying venting I hate the wooden spoon cutler you get at takeaway places and let's not forget the stupid paper straws I'm with you with the paper straws Mark Let's kill a few fish
Starting point is 00:34:46 Just to get the plastic straws back Circling back Sorry down no you hate that RSVP means please respond It means please respond In the French phrase Respondévese So that means please respond
Starting point is 00:35:00 Not please respond Yes Ah it's not a list of yes Yes. And was that French grammatically correct? I responde Ville is the voblee?
Starting point is 00:35:11 Bang on. I hate people that say French wrong. Just circling back to that. Sarah's taken a quick text saying Low-rise jeans coming back. Not for me. I don't mind them. I've noticed as well the G-bang
Starting point is 00:35:26 are popping up the top of the pants on a girl's coming back in. I've seen at least to a three out in public. Very much. The whale tail. Like a crop top And then the low-rise gene
Starting point is 00:35:37 And then a whale-tail G-banger Yeah Not for me Interesting Producer Carl got the email I'm not sure if anyone else has But it was a bit of a warning Saying that
Starting point is 00:35:46 There is a certain act That is very close to selling out Before they perform in New Zealand on Sunday And so maybe people need to know about this Because I don't want you missing out Surprising that they've nearly sold out Oh don't do that I'm going on Sunday
Starting point is 00:36:00 I reckon they're just saying that to sell more tickets It's That Meg's you're coming to. Better get in Quick, Meg, they're almost sold out. Who is it? Find out next. Take the edge of your name with Clint Meg and Dan. What does close to selling out mean? Because I think it means exactly what it says, that it's close to selling out.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Dan thinks it's the opposite. Well, it depends, say, for instance, if Taylor Swift came to New Zealand and she said she's close to selling out, I'd probably believe it. Right. But when MKTO says, says it. Oh. Go something with your life.
Starting point is 00:36:36 I go. I've had tickets for how long now, Meg? Months. The moment they went on sale and bought tickets. No, you know what? He was worried because he was worried they were going to sell out.
Starting point is 00:36:47 I was at the five gig, and while I was at the gig with all the other millennials, I turned to my wife and I said, let's buy MKTO tickets right now. We can't even remember the name. We bought them while at a five concert, which is super millennial of us.
Starting point is 00:36:59 But I can't believe they're not playing at Spark Arena but they're playing at the studio which doesn't hold as many I will say look MKTO they have a couple of bangers don't they in fact I think
Starting point is 00:37:11 No they have four Four They have God only knows Literally never heard this song in my life Bad girls American Dream which is their best The same's on a song That we used to know
Starting point is 00:37:29 Because Jack left a guy Great song What's the other one Classic I'd say three That fourth one's a stretch How much is a ticket? from memory about 80, 90 bucks, I think.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Now where would you place those three hits? You'd open with one of them, then you'd put another one mid-show and then close on something else. So what are they doing in the middle of that? That's my question. So Dan thinks it's one of those ones where they haven't moved enough tickets. So they're saying, quick, it's close to selling out. So we all frantically go and buy them when in actual fact there's a lot left over.
Starting point is 00:38:06 And no shade to MKTO, because they have had three hits. But I'd be very surprised if the concert is, quote, close to selling out. Oh, Meg, the annoying thing is it's a Sunday. So we're going to be a little bit dusty on a Monday, but it's worth it, I think. When this song comes on. It's going to be insane. I'm going to be third wheeling, though, with you and your wife.
Starting point is 00:38:29 That's, that's, them saying they're close to selling out is like me saying I'm close to being a detective because I watch some crime docos. That's, you know, like, it's just. You're just, embellishing the truth a little. Somebody says they should be doing a free concert at Britain, more likely. Oh, that did sound out. That's free. Someone else's a text.
Starting point is 00:38:52 Yeah, I'm close to getting married. I signed up for Tinder last week. Yes, that's good. Now let's catch it on. Let's catch it on. You can take more texts if you are. I reckon, oh, 800 the edge. What are you close to doing?
Starting point is 00:39:04 Inverted commas. That's so mean. I hope MKATI aren't listening to this. Guys, we love you. So much. Someone said they're close to being a lawyer because they're thinking about studying law. You have to pass the bar first.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Thanks, it takes quite a few years, I imagine. All right, we'll do Dan's fun little game. What are you close to doing? The day is almost upon a Sunday night, MKTO. Come to the shores of New Zealand. I've had my tickets along with many other millennials for a while and got an email saying it's close to selling out, which Dan thinks means it is not close at all to selling out
Starting point is 00:39:38 and they're desperate to move the final tickets before they cancel the show. And I don't want to be the good. guy that's punching down to MKTO because I think they're a successful band. They've got three big hits. But I'm just saying, is that enough to be saying we've nearly sold out? I don't know. Seventy-three bucks a ticket cheaper than I thought, Meg, and 175
Starting point is 00:39:54 if you want a meeting greet. Bargain. So what have you nearly done? What have you... Yeah, got quite a few texts coming in, Dan. Do you want to go through some of those before I head to the phones? Someone said, I'm close to being a millionaire because I've just put a lot of ticket. See, brilliant. This is what we want.
Starting point is 00:40:10 All right, that's got a map. Matt. What are you close to doing, Matt? I'm close to opening for Fisher because I'm a DJ and a Bacagal. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, what's your DJ name? Haven't said that, though. I did your gig, small town, big gig, and I opened for Peeking Duck.
Starting point is 00:40:27 Oh, I don't remember you, Matt. I reckon you're one step away from being open. Yeah. How often do you tell people that when they go, oh, do you DJ, anything big? You go, yeah, I open for Peaking Duck once. Yeah, I don't say the location, though. Yeah, fair enough. Thanks, Maddie.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Adams just text through saying I've got a receptionist job, so I'm close to being the CEO. That's what we want. Nice, one step away. Nice. We want to hear. Richie, what are you close to doing? I am six minutes away from finishing work.
Starting point is 00:40:55 Yeah? Yeah. So you're close to... Big shout out to DJ Matt Murray, though. Limpicago. Oh, you know, DJ. Matt Murray. I might do.
Starting point is 00:41:07 Well, this isn't the phoneer. Do you know Matt Murray? Well, Matt's doing really well. Matt is getting closer and closer to be in the opening person for Fisher. Yeah. Someone said I'm close to being pregnant because I just had sex. Thanks for that one. Thanks, Sarah.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Now everybody knows. I'm close to being a race car driver because I'm in the fast lane on the motorway. Declan, you're one step away from Formula One. And this one's really big. I'm standing next to a diesel pump this morning, so I'm close to being a truck. No, you guys are mean. I'll get the final laugh when you see my Insta stories. Sing it along.
Starting point is 00:41:39 I still might be there. I still might be planned. Hey, if it's cost to selling up. You're going to get a quick meet. Buy tickets now. Hurry up. $1,000 on the line with easy money. If you think you get the job done,
Starting point is 00:41:52 the letter is K for 1K,000 bucks going into a bank account for the weekend. If you can get the job done. What do we get? Seven or eight? We got up to number nine with two skips. Yeah, that's right. At seven o'clock. So need a little bit of a better showing than that.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Just call 0-800 the edge, and you're close to winning a thousand bucks. True. We'll do it in 90 seconds. Money. $1,000 on the line. Let's play. Easy money. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:42:22 A thousand bucks. Could be going to a first-time caller this morning. First-time caller. I just came to say hello. Love our cash gets you out of the woodwork. I could be wrong, but I think this is our second first-time caller from Hawks Bay today. What's going on in Hawks Bay? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:36 What's exciting? Yeah, how you going? Hi. Johan's a cool name, mate. Sounds like a cool dude. Is the edge just being turned on or something in the Hawks Bay? What's going on? Yeah, it's got to be the one to listen to, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Oh, thanks, mate. Oh, thanks, Your Hon, your letter this morning is Kay. You're ready to play? Awesome, yeah, let it wrap. Okay, you can pass. If we've got time, we'll come back. You just can't give us the same answer twice. Here we go, thousand bucks.
Starting point is 00:43:00 Good luck, Johan. Cheers. Give me a name. Kevin. An animal. Kangaroo. A body part. Knee.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Something in the house. Kettle. A food brand. A TV show A four-letter word Something you wear A female singer Carly Clarkson
Starting point is 00:43:36 Time Got to 10 Got the final Question 10 A couple of passes in the mix though That was a good effort It was a good effort I think it sounds like you were distracted as well
Starting point is 00:43:47 There was their kids in the background Are you trying to pair and answer questions Yeah, it's got a little one multitasking You did very well for having a little one in the background Thank you for playing Johan. Yeah, a couple of skips. Food brand, Kellogg's craft.
Starting point is 00:44:00 KFC, if you're playing at home. I thought KFC, what is it? A TV show, keep it up, the Kardashians. Kath and Kim, my favourite of all time. When you start thinking about when you've been on a gravy tray, you've been getting something for free for so, so long, and it's like something you'd usually have to pay for. That's been me for the last six months when it comes to haircuts.
Starting point is 00:44:19 And it's finally ended, that gravy. It's barely been for free. We've had shout-outs up the wazoo for this. Tommy Guns. Not Tommy Gunn. Tommy Guns. We know about it. Love them.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Not anymore, it seems. Gravy Jones come to a stop. To-Too-Too! Listen to your favourite breakfast show, whenever you like. Clint Meggin' Dan. The Edge. All the Bay City. Now, I never asked for this, but for the last...
Starting point is 00:44:52 Maybe it's been over six months. Maybe it's been nearly a year. I've been getting free haircuts. It feels like it's been forever. Dan, can I say that as your friend? And you know what? What a joy it is, because fair haircuts are expensive. I didn't realize this because I've been getting free for so long.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I'm out of touch. But the other day I went into the place where I get my free haircut and I waltz. Why do you get them for free? Does your mum know the owner or something? I think because... Because why? Well, I don't want to say. You've told us, but I forgot.
Starting point is 00:45:21 I forgot. So why would you, out of anybody else, get a free haircut? Celebrity, isn't it? Oh, that's right. Yeah. And... Well, that's all. I'm sorry I made you remind people.
Starting point is 00:45:34 Well, I wouldn't say I am. Oh really? You just did. They listen. Anyway. So I went in there one time and they were like, no charge. Don't worry about it. And I was like, no, I swear, honestly, I'm happy to pay. Celebrity's money is not welcome here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:48 And I was like, no, I honestly want to pay. And they were like, no, we won't take your money. So fine. And that was fine. And then that happened every time I go back. But then I think it was the next time she's like, just talk about us on here. Yes. That's right.
Starting point is 00:45:58 And I always do. But I won't anymore because I went the other day. I went the other day and it got to the point where now I go in there and I almost expect to just waltz out because I'm Dan from the radio. And so I went in the other day and there was no one there that I recognised because I love all the people there. And went in there, they didn't know my name.
Starting point is 00:46:19 They didn't know my haircut. So I sat down and was fine. And then I got up and as I would usually do, I just went, see you later and walked out. Ooh. Because it's got so comfortable that now it's free. Ooh, I feel sick. In which case, I got halfway down the morning.
Starting point is 00:46:32 before the lady from the reception area came down and running after me saying you haven't paid and so I had to go back and pay $65. But do you know what's so gross? Wait, wait, wait, what did he say? What did you say?
Starting point is 00:46:46 Did you have to say, I normally I don't pay? No, I did no, gone. What did you do? I just said that I'd forgotten. Oh my God, silly me. Jesus, what an idiot. So why is it changed? They've changed hands.
Starting point is 00:46:56 The owners have gone. And now they probably did recognise you and think that Dan Webby thinks he doesn't have to pay for haircuts because he's a celebrity. F-less celebrity thinks he can just come in here and get a free haircut. I don't think they recognise me, to be honest. So my gravy train has ended, but for such a long time, I was going and getting free haircuts.
Starting point is 00:47:17 What a joy it was. Oh, it is amazing to have a gravy train. I don't think it needs to necessarily be free, but you could have like a mate that works somewhere and they give you their stuff just kind of like 60% off. And when a gravy train is over, because you're right, you come to expect it over time, it's devastating.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Maybe you just work next to a cafe and that cafe gives you cheap or free coffees because your business is next to them. And then you've moved. And you're always sending clients to their business and they appreciate it. Yeah. My best friend uses my Disney account.
Starting point is 00:47:42 So, I mean, luckily we'll stay best friends for life. But I imagine, you know, if I ever wanted to get back at her for something, cut that off. If you guys out of fallout, I imagine every time you have an argument, she's like, you're all right, Meg. Yeah, you're right.
Starting point is 00:47:54 The only reason she stays friends with me is my Disney account. Yeah. Clint's got a gravy train with his Botox, hey? They're just pumping that gravy into your forehead every month. Delicious. What is the gravy train that you're riding at the moment? And maybe we also take calls from people that unfortunately their gravy train has come to its final stop.
Starting point is 00:48:12 And you look back at those times and just reminisce at how incredible they were and how long you rode it for. You were sitting on that gravy train looking out the window and joy in life. Someone said, Dan, 60 bucks for a hecker. What are you part, poodle? I know. Dude's eargun is like 30 bucks, man. They like shave your ears and stuff and do all that stuff, you know.
Starting point is 00:48:33 It was all the full hog. Well, all right. What was your gravy train that came to its final stop? Oh, 800 the Edge or 3343 on text. Oh, that's up. Free City. Is your gravy train over? Or are you still riding it?
Starting point is 00:48:52 Getting something ridiculously cheap or free? Yeah, look, it has become clear to us to be on the text machine. A lot of people have been riding that gravy train. They have indeed. And those are the little fun parts of life, right? I think. Like this text then, my gravy chain has been going strong for 10 years. My Papa paid for my family plan of Spotify and forgot that my sister and I joined what he initially paid for it.
Starting point is 00:49:12 He's been paying for 10 years. Wow. What about this? Similar one with family. My landlord was my uncle. Rent hadn't changed in eight years. Wow. Then he came to us and said, I'm going to start charging market rent.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Christmas was awkward. Oh, sat on. What, that's a horrible thing to do. Oh, come on. There are some things in life. If you're in a position that you have a house that your family members can live in, surely you give them mates, right? Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Well, I suppose for eight years he did. Yeah, true. Catherine, morning. Morning. So your hubby used to work for Fontera. He did. He worked with Fontera in Takenny, and they have a staff shop there. So he would buy for 20 bucks as like a 25 centimetre slab of bree cheese,
Starting point is 00:49:53 like just the circle ones, but just imagine it like huge. Damn. Honestly, if I was getting free cheese, I'd be the size of a house. So did you say how much? Did I miss that? It was, I think it was either $15 or $20. Wow. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:50:08 So he'd probably get one of those, like, I'd say 25 or maybe 30 centimeters. Were you just constantly having like cheese and crackers? Meg's gone. I'm gone. We'd often have just like bread with melted bread cheese on it for the listen time. Is that what you do? It's so good. The gravy train's over.
Starting point is 00:50:27 You said he used to work. Does not work here anymore? Yeah, no, he works at Tartu now. And they've got a staff shop, but obviously it's not like pre-chease or anything. Yeah, but that's okay. It was a good run while it lasted. She's having cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just everything's cheese.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Good attitude, Catherine. I love that, Catherine. All right, what about you, Natalie? What was the gravy train? What's up, Nat? Your gravy train's over. It was good while you were on it. What was it?
Starting point is 00:50:57 Yeah, I worked in an optometrist, and we got free glasses every year. Oh, that's good. I worked there for five years. It was amazing. And then I had to leave and start a new job. It was just time. And now my prescription keeps changing
Starting point is 00:51:10 every six months and I have to pay for glasses. And prescription glasses are expensive as well. So that was a really good gravy train. Yeah, that's a good thing to know for people that do work or need to work in it. Should have worked at SpecSavis. Do we go to Cal?
Starting point is 00:51:25 Because when he was 16, his gravy train ended, or is he not? Oh, there he is. Okay. Just go to Cow. Morning, cow. Morning team So yeah
Starting point is 00:51:33 My gravy train Ended when I was 16 Got my first job And had to start paying rent And contributing to the household Oh one of those ones Once you start earning your own money Got to contribute
Starting point is 00:51:43 But at the moment I've got two moochers That are riding the gravy train At the moment How old? A 10 year old Oh yeah 10 Okay
Starting point is 00:51:54 They get a pass That's what they call Payback Cal Are you gonna do the same thing To your kids After you went through it Is it one of those things Of like I had to do it
Starting point is 00:52:01 Or did it not teach you enough of a listening, you'll continue to, you know, board them without pay? Oh, no, 100%. I've got a 19-year-old daughter who currently pays rent and contributes towards her part of the household. So these two little guys will do the same thing. No. Kids in the background going, what?
Starting point is 00:52:22 They've just found out. They've got six more years on the gravy, Jane. That's forever. At least his text through saying that her hubby gives her facials every week. That must be bloody good for your skin. Who said that? Someone on the text machine. Gets facials every week.
Starting point is 00:52:36 Yeah. I wish I could get a facial every week. Honestly, whenever I get one, I'd come out feeling a million bucks. Yeah. Just honestly, the best feeling in the world, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. Are they qualified? You'd hope so.
Starting point is 00:52:50 Yeah, yeah. I'm paying good money for it. Sometimes they can be expensive. Yeah, mate. I think the last time I got a facial was like 70 bucks. Did you pay them or did they pay you? I did my neck and chest as well. School run.
Starting point is 00:53:03 I know it's hopefully going over the heads. It's Breakfast, Clint McGintan. It's Flats Idol. Right. Five Flats looking to win. Six tickets to R&V accommodation and a VIP Vintage Club upgrade with the original songs that they've written and created this week. We've had such a caliber, a high caliber of songs coming through
Starting point is 00:53:23 and another one this morning. Yeah. Hopefully. Yeah, true. Natalia, morning. You there, Natalia? Sorry, good morning. Hello.
Starting point is 00:53:35 She had us on mute. There she is. Hey, are you feeling confident after hearing the others? Um, I would say definitely not. The other groups have done such a good job. Definitely not. At least you're honest. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:50 Hey, well, maybe we've saved the best to last. You never know, Natalia. That's what I thought we were doing. I think if you were going to save the best for last, I think you'd definitely pick the wrong song. Oh, no. Oh, no. Now I'm excited to hear how bad it is.
Starting point is 00:54:03 I reckon this is a tactical play from her. She's talking it down, so we're impressed when we hear the song. Sympathy votes. You know? That's all right. You'll take sympathy votes, weren't you? Yeah, well, I think it's safe to say that even we won't be voting for us. Oh, my.
Starting point is 00:54:18 How bad is it? We won't be voting for us. Okay, well, tell us about your vision. What's the song about and, like, why did you do it? Um, our song is basically just about. us not being able to afford R&B, but we really want to go to be our first time. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:54:37 This is the Saturday. Natalie. Okay, well, let's hear it. What's it called? You've got to introduce that. Okay. This is The Chateau, and this is take us to R&B. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Not holding out high hopes here. Here we go. Thanks, Natalia. Final song and flat idol. Good luck. So that's not so good. I haven't started singing. We are we a Mary Lewis and Ratsy
Starting point is 00:55:05 We painted the Shato We spent our family When we hope you hope you're And we hope your ears don't bleed When we say Take us to R&M This show's so too busy That's where we want to be
Starting point is 00:55:22 Please make our ticket free We're oversold this R&B son The sync of you Was gonna forfeit will That doesn't count No No
Starting point is 00:55:52 What do you expect To get to R&B We need like 5 minutes If you called us broke Be correct But no one can connect Take us to R&B Oh Jesus
Starting point is 00:56:07 What are they My Tickening of a sudden I can't I have questions Natalia Did you on purpose not sing at the same time? No.
Starting point is 00:56:19 And be honest. Did you record that on a toaster? We just did the best with what we had. We are definitely the furthest things from musicians. And we didn't use any AI. Yeah. Although I think New Zealand might have wished you'd use the little. No, I'm giving it a standing ovation, Natalia.
Starting point is 00:56:38 That sounded like it was way out of your comfort zone. And you did it. We've all been in the position where we've done something, been like, okay, that's enough. and then we hear the opposition, we go, oh my God, what am I doing? Rochelle said, ha, ha, ha, they've got my vote. Brilliant. Well, yeah, the vote, who knows, Natali?
Starting point is 00:56:55 We don't know that it's not over until it's over. And then Graham said, more life and a mortuary. Right. So it makes me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Voting and starting. Well, let's recap all of them.
Starting point is 00:57:07 So if people have just tuned in, you don't know what to compare that to. Sorry, said that was heartbreaking. Should we recap that one? Or should we consider that's already read. That's recap. Okay, good. Recap the other four will open up the voting, but who are you voting for if you have caught a few of them this week?
Starting point is 00:57:22 The other ones are really good, could I just say? Even the shudest one compared to that one. A sympathy vote is still a vote. It's flat. You have to decide who did it best and the winning flat. The voting will be open through until Monday, 7am. We'll announce the winner on Monday. They'll get six tickets to R&V accommodation
Starting point is 00:57:40 and a VIP vintage club upgrade for their flat. So the three of us don't have any say, do we? No, we get no say what's. wherever all we can do is play you. The songs is a bit of a, I guess, a recap of all the ones that we have. And you can text the word flat to 3343. We'll send you the voting link. And, you know, it is hard because sometimes it comes down to, like, maybe the most talented won't win.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Somebody might just have the underdogness. They might just feel sorry for them. They might have bigger families, bigger friends. Yeah, a bit of following on Insta. Yeah, yeah. We'll see how it happens. This was White Palace Monday. He hits the deck
Starting point is 00:58:16 She's gone from the crew John Summit, mate She's coming for you It's written very well Yeah, yeah Obviously bit of AI The 212 flat I don't think
Starting point is 00:58:26 All the time But we will I mean that Hats off to them They did well Yep And then we had flat notes The
Starting point is 00:58:41 Ladd musicians Yeah studying music I will say about them They should start Like a kid's band Like the Wiggles Yeah Because dad is
Starting point is 00:59:02 The boys are doing All the musician sorry, all the instruments, and then the girls doing the vocal. Chazette's really set the high watermark for a lot of people used today. Had a bit of a rap breakdown as well. You can listen to all of these when you do vote, by the way. And then we have the chateau that we just heard before. Do we have a highlight of that, Clid?
Starting point is 00:59:28 Oh, I've got a clip. How do they spell chateau? Is it with the SH? Let's see you. Okay, so those are your five finalists. All right, we have Zara Zara. How do you feel about today's performance and who do you think you're going to vote for overall?
Starting point is 00:59:49 If I'm being honest today's performance just made me feel bad for this. Yeah, it's... I mean, and it was like that they weren't obviously talent. And she did say that. They didn't have any musical talent. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:02 It would have taken a lot to put that song together. And then to listen to all the other ones and know your last. It would have taken more to actually email it. Yeah, true. Sorry, I think. All right. Who gets your vote? I think I'd vote for the Sports is it.
Starting point is 01:00:15 Yeah, pretty amazing with their... What does it? Take me. To the edge came on. What? What? Yeah, there's a few texts coming through for that one as well. But it's not up to us, is it?
Starting point is 01:00:28 It's up to New Zealand. Yeah, flat to 3343. We'll send you the link. Voting is open all weekends. Want to hear more of Clint, Meg and Dan, but completely unfiltered. Catch their Overthinkers audio and video pod every single day on the Rover app.
