Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. And Edge Breakfast. Good morning. It is 1 to 6 on your Thursday, Friday. Good morning. How exciting that it's already nearly Friday. Must be. I've been thinking about you, Clint. Yeah. You haven't complained about, yeah, in that way. You haven't complained about Jet Lagador.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Is it because you know you can't because you've got a free trip to Hawaii? Oh, piss off. Yeah. Yeah, it is, isn't it? It is. I was driving. I was like, Clint hasn't complained once. He's been, like, really perky. I was like, I know why. And if he did.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Did it if he did? Oh, we would not let that go. Absolutely not. It's like my kids, when we got home like Monday night and they wanted Tuesday morning off school. Yeah. And I said to my wife, because I knew it was going to have. I was like, no, you tell them, Dad got up at 4 a.m.
Starting point is 00:00:49 and went to work. There's no way. If we're in Hawaii still, they would be fine. Yeah, right. And they've already had three days out of school for holiday during school. And to be fair, you got up and came to your cushy job where you sit down and talk shit for three hours, four hours. How did he do on Tuesday?
Starting point is 00:01:04 Was he good? It was okay, yeah. He's done better shows, in my opinion. We wouldn't put it, submit it to the radio awards. Just like a bad hungover day for him. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Speaking of which, in coffee catch-out,
Starting point is 00:01:18 I need to talk about my new lifestyle change. Oh, more holidays. Hopefully not drink. Less drinking, that's involved. Maybe it's less holidays, more work. Oh, I doubt that. No, I think my next one's like seven weeks. I've been. Remember Africa?
Starting point is 00:01:37 Yeah. Edge Breakfast, Clint McGintan Dan. I mentioned to you guys briefly, I'm not sure it was on or off here, that while I was away on vacation, I had my shirt off a bit, just wandering around. And my wife had taken a few videos of me and the kids. And I've seen a couple and I was like, is that what I, that's not what I look like normally. And she goes, yeah. And I was like, it's being the biggest raka, because how I feel you look when you're at the gym, Especially when you got a bit of a pump on
Starting point is 00:02:06 or when you look in like a bathroom mirror and you've got downward lighting. It's very different to how I saw myself in broad daylight. It's amazing that your bad is my goal. It's like, Dan, what about you? Oh, mate, I've given up. I think I've finally hit that space
Starting point is 00:02:22 where I've gone, this is the best. I'll ever look now and it's all downhill from here. No, you started the gym. You're swimming in that now? Yeah, but I'm just trying to maintain my current flabbiness. Yeah, yeah. Just try not to die young. Yeah, I think if I don't do it, I'll just constantly get more and more flabby.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Yeah. Well, my wife said the problem is the reason why I don't, despite maybe go to the gym three, four, five days a week, why I don't see the gains that I think I deserve is because I'm always just like little snacking. I'll eat a whole bag of potato chips. I like my beers with the boys. So she's like, if you stopped that, you'd have some real gains and you'd stop wasting your time in the gym. So I was like, okay. So for the last, is anyone else like this?
Starting point is 00:02:59 It's been two days. 48 hours. any packets of chips. I haven't had any beers. In fact, I was hungry yesterday, so I had two carrots. I feel... This is my diet failed. Honestly.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Clint, as somebody who is a diet expert for the past 30 years of my life, let me tell you, as a friend, you cannot just swap out a bag of chips for two carrots because you know what's going to happen, you're going to go this sucks and then you're going to go bitch. So what we're going to do is not do that, is like you can have a carrot, but just have half a bag of chips.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Okay, because what I'm worried about is that I don't have abs yet. It's been two days. I've been honestly like so good. And the weekend's coming and I can't try. I've got some chemist wee house PR event after work and I know it's going to be free food and drink. And I'm scared. And enjoy yourself. The thing is if carrots were the fast track to abs, that'd be sold out everywhere.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Just because you eat a carrot doesn't mean you get an ab. What if I put it in hummus? That's more calories. If you do think that's worse. Like people don't understand. I'll add a salad on to make. burger to make it healthy. It's like, yeah, you actually just met any more.
Starting point is 00:04:05 So, how long does it take? I just don't know to know, because if I keep doing what I'm doing, like I thought, I mean, producer Brady, you me and you have been chatting, he's been working on his abs in the gym for how long now? Just like a week, hey? Oh my God, enough. And they're still not there. I will not allow this show
Starting point is 00:04:24 to also add into the diet culture. Clint, you are beautiful as you are, as you are, Brady. Brinkin work on themselves, but we're not doing diet. and carrot chat. I'm sorry, Dan, yes, you're great. Yeah, thank you. Well, we got sent some
Starting point is 00:04:38 new cabri's blocks to try. Does anyone want some? Yes. Yeah, okay. I just won't have a pie today. Hopefully I get an ad. Maybe the ad shop tomorrow. Maybe it takes three days.
Starting point is 00:04:50 I don't know. I'm going to need a corsette with my pie today. Hopefully that'll do something. Listen to your favorite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. First call of the day. First call on the day.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Call of the day this morning is Susie. Morning, Suzy. Morning, guys. How are you? Morning, Susie. Now, I would say you're part of, if not the leader of the 6am club. You're always up early, always texting us. Oh, Marilyn will be angry.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Are you hearing you say that? Yeah, well, to be honest, maybe they're both the leaders jointly. Along with Sanjay as well. He's always on his run. See, Sunday, I'll be annoyed at that. Richie, Richie. Danny will be pissed. You said that.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Okay, we've got a lot of listeners. But how are you, Susie? I'm sore Oh you're sore What happened Um Okay so I took a header down the stairs I was climbing up the stairs
Starting point is 00:05:41 To my bedroom And I was on the 12 step up And I sailed backwards So What do you mean you were climbing up your stairs Like you make me it sound Sounds like you're pretty I was sitting up the stairs
Starting point is 00:05:53 Sure And then yeah I just fell backwards It must have been My daughter said it must have been My blood pressure But at the same time Yeah
Starting point is 00:06:03 my son and my dad had to help me back up oh dear now susie are you of the age of the ilk where when you fall over it's called a fall oh yeah when people call and go guys yeah i'm 50 yeah i don't think that susy's had a fall age oh yeah you'd say that though because you're only four years away from it no nine yeah no i think you have to be at least your 60s such a scary moment when you realize you're falling down the stairs you know like those few seconds you're like oh my god am i going to survive this. I still think because my mum's
Starting point is 00:06:35 69. Of course she is. She's been 69 for about 70 years. How long has she been 69 for, Dad? And if I got a phone call saying mum's had a fall, I'd be like, well, and? So I think it's a 70 plus thing. Yeah, I think but there's different ages. Like some people are a young 70. Some people are young 80,
Starting point is 00:06:54 aren't they? Yeah. Hey, Susie, we do a show four hours a day, five days a week, so it's 20 hours of possible listening. How many hours do you think you listen to our show a week? on average? I would say probably about 18. 18 of 20. I'm trying to think of the two hours that you miss out.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Maybe more, less focus on our show and more focus on putting your legs in front of each other, you know, and being able to walk. Wow, that's incredible. I worry. None of us have mortgages if everyone listen like Suzy. Yeah, yeah. Imagine.
Starting point is 00:07:23 I think you're pretty close to mortgage free, at you. I bought early. Plus, I'm much older than you. I was joking. I can't even. Anyway. So there we go.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Oh, thanks for calling. Lucy, uh, Susie, sorry. Oh, no! He called you Lucy. I don't even know a Lucy. Actually. You do know Lucy because this is one that works on the station. Susie's just gone from listening 18 hours a week's 18 minutes.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Good on you, Dan. I think you needed to listen slightly less, though. Hey, thanks, Susie. I need you guys in my life. And so do we. So stop falling over. Yeah, don't have any more falls, please, Susie. Paul also annoyed that he wasn't up for captain.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Oh, Paul. Oh, Paul's definitely out for Canada. Yeah, Richie as well. I said Richie disappointed. I said Richie. And he missed out on selection in Dan's eyes. Do we miss out on anyone? Please text through. It's five people.
Starting point is 00:08:14 If you would have liked to have been thought of when Dan decided to choose a captain of the 6 AM club and you were... Ruby, Zara. And I feel like how captain's shaky at best. She's falling down the stairs. So maybe we need someone as a backup. We need a via captain.
Starting point is 00:08:27 All right, more or less, it's back after me gives us a bit of a scandal update. Who's featuring his scandals winning? Sydney Sweeney. Oh, yeah. I've already seen the video. Producer Brady showed it to me. And the Spice Girls.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Clinton, Megan Dan, Scandal. The Spice Girls have teased a release. Coming out, our time tomorrow, they have said, it looks like an ad in a newspaper saying, like, do you like to dance? Do you like to listen to good music? Then we need you. And they said you will need a vinyl player or a CD player.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Oh, I'd say they're re-releasing one of their albums on vinyl. How exciting, right? That's cool. A lot of bands and artists. doing that now that were huge in like the 90s, early 2000s, that never had vinyl because vinyl wasn't big back then, and now they're re-releasing it, like doing the album on vinyl.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Is it true to assume that it sounds better on vinyl, but the speakers a lot of the time that people have plugged into their vinyl player are so crap that it always sounds. 100%. Most people have like a crappy little, like, player that they've brought off Timu, and it actually sounds worse.
Starting point is 00:09:27 But if you have a really good vinyl player, the music sounds better than it does on CD or anything. streaming. And Sydney, Sweeney has got her kit off for the new Novick campaign. It's like a sports prediction platform. They say that. So I think it's like a beddy nap. Why does she need to be naked then? Are they like bearing all?
Starting point is 00:09:46 There's a couple of really big footballs. Provet. Novick is just sports. So they wanted to show just sports. So she's saying they are so just sports that she can't even wear clothes. You know what?
Starting point is 00:10:04 The reason why I don't think it works because producer Brady goes, bro, check this out as soon as I like got into work and he showed me it and I saw the ad, I couldn't even tell you who it was for. Because if it's meant to be aimed at guys and she's kind of nude and covering her like boobs
Starting point is 00:10:18 with like footballs and stuff and she was sitting on the ring of a basketball hoop, she's talking and doing things but honestly God don't reckon, I reckon if you show that video, maybe we could try this to 20 guys in the office and then at the end go, What was she advertising?
Starting point is 00:10:32 I don't know if one could tell you. I don't even think I knew she was holding footballs, to be honest. See? I knew she was holding a couple of big sort of somethings. Well, there's a little experiment we can do after the show. Just hits. In Auckland. The edge.
Starting point is 00:10:46 The edge. Clint Meg and Dan. We're going to get a bounce back set up if you would like to see her. We're going to do, like, what, Sydney, Brady? Yeah, we'll make it Sydney. It's going to be a trick. Was it with a wire or with an eye? If you can't spell it, you don't deserve to see it. Yeah, true.
Starting point is 00:10:57 That's fair. That's fair. Send in multiple spelling. One of them. And maybe wait like two minutes for Brady to see that. It's there now. It's there now. Good.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Okay. All right. We'll get to more or less next. Take the edge off your name with Clint Meg and Dan. Edge. Clint Megan Dan's more or less. All right. I haven't done this one a wee while.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Meg gives us two options. We just have to guess if the first option is more or less than the second. Yeah, we're doing Kiwi snack edition. Okay. Since you're on a diet, Clint. Yeah. No snacking for me. Which is more popular in New Zealand ready salted chips or salt and vinegar?
Starting point is 00:11:29 Oh. I would still go. reddy salted, wouldn't you? You think that'd be an easy bet, but it's just a flavourless chip. Who's ordering that? The polarising nature of salt and vinegar, you either love them or like my wife,
Starting point is 00:11:43 my wife loves them, but I hate them. You don't like something? Yeah, they're too tangy. Oh, I love it. If the skin starts coming off the roof of my mouth and my tongue, they've nailed it. Oh! I would still go, I think the people's chip are the reddy salted. Reilly salted is more popular.
Starting point is 00:11:58 I got to go on. Yeah. Get in, Daniel. Well done, Daniel. Which is more popular. Tim Tams or Arnett's Farm Bake cookies? Oh, tricky. Because farm bake... The only time I'd take a bag of farm bake is if we're like camping over Christmas.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Yeah, but you don't know about Middle New Zealand, Clint. You know, just the salt of the earth, batless, I reckon they still love a farm bake. But if I said to you, give me three biscuits. Yeah. Tim Tams probably in a top three, just top of mind. Yeah, because you're very well off. Is it Tim Tamm a well-off, Bicky? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:30 I feel like it's quite successful. having a Tim Tam. I'm thinking Tim Dem's an easy bet here, but there are more farm bake's in a bag, so maybe that's... Let's go with Clint on this one. Tim Tam. Tim Tam, more. Well done. Here we've bought more than 7 million packets of Tim Tams in a year compared to 2.7 bags of farm bags.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Okay, come on. What is more popular? Sour and cream and chives chips or barbecue chips? Sal cream. Yeah. Okay, boys, we're looking good for this. This is one three. Do more?
Starting point is 00:12:59 Cadbury dairy milk or cabri picnic? Oh, you'd go dairy milk. Dairy milk, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, come on, this is for the wind. Standing up. Which is more popular now.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Come on, New Zealand. This is where we always lose. We almost should go against what we think it is. The Tim Tam. Oh, it's already had a win. Seven million. Or chicken crimpy shapes. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Oh, the chicken crimpy is the best flavor. Shapes, I think I read a fact about shapes recently. that New Zealand per capita eat more shapes than any other country in the world. Well then surely we go with the chicken crumpy shapes for the way. But are they the most popular shape? I would go that pizza shapes are the most popular.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Are you kidding me? You're the only reason that they put those shapes in the vending machine because you eat a pack a day. No, absolutely not. I'd say chicken crumpy are the least popular shape. What? I love them. Cheese and bacon is the worst. I think they discontinued it.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I thought barbecue. I don't like barbecue shapes. I would still back. Wait, Zara has texted in Tim Tams. But Zara also texts in salt vinegar and she was wrong. So let's go against Zara twice now and say, Chicken Crimpy is the more popular snack. I disagree, but we're locking it in. Chicken Crimpy for more popular.
Starting point is 00:14:19 You've done it! So that means that every New Zealand has at least two boxes a year, on average. You're over the few of me. Yeah, I'm definitely having more. We have about a box every fortnight. You know what? Recently, I had shapes. delivered to my house 40 boxes.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Yeah. They felt like they had a co-lab with the NRL, and I've basically gone through all of them. Literally. I gave, I think, 20 away. We didn't get any. No, I didn't give any to you. What is the most popular flavour of shape?
Starting point is 00:14:55 Ooh, let me find out. It's pizza. Okay, place your bets. Meg will tell us in three minutes. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax. It's time to get naughty at 640. I went on a podcast the other day with Jess Quinn. Gosh, she's an amazing woman.
Starting point is 00:15:09 She is model She's an entrepreneur She's got a business And she also lost her One of her leagues to cancer When she was an eight year old And her dancing with the stars Didn't she win?
Starting point is 00:15:20 She got third I think Oh Isn't that incredible Some of the best do finish In that I've got both my legs And I would go out first Yeah
Starting point is 00:15:27 I would literally I suck She's amazing She asked me to go on her podcast And there was something that came up That I thought I don't think I've talked To the boys about that
Starting point is 00:15:34 Where when it came to I don't need to go through All the Birth Wolfs-Miller But I had a pretty scary birth and I got rushed into surgery. You guys know that part. Traumatic. Yeah, very, very scary for everybody involved.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Very scary for my husband who had a toddler and a brand new baby and his wife was in surgery for hours and didn't hear anything. Yeah, that is frightening. Really frightening. And the last time you saw me, I was passed out with blood everywhere. But the thing that is really terrible that I haven't, I don't think, admitted to you guys, is that when I did come to when I woke up from the surgery, yeah, I am alive. I'm sitting there.
Starting point is 00:16:10 I am so chilled out on the anesthesia, which kind of makes you a little loopy and a little... They stay for, I think, 24 to 72 hours, you're not allowed to aid drive cars, but you're not allowed to sign anything after you've been under surgery because any important documents, because they say that your brain capacity
Starting point is 00:16:28 is not where it should be, and you're not allowed to sign any important documents like selling a house or signing over divorces or anything. You can't legally do it once you've been up from surgery. Our boss Leon should have got you to sign your contract that day. Yes. So we're just going to you a $2,000. Hey, Rose. Meg, just sign here.
Starting point is 00:16:41 And you're like, oh, okay. That's fun. So I wake up from this, and my midwife is there and so are the nurses. And I'm like, brilliant. I'm great. And they're like, awesome. We'll let guy know. And I go, stop.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Don't do that. And they go, what? And they go, no, no. Let him sit and worry. Oh, that's not part of your brand. Oh, my God. So I can surprise him when I get rolled up. And they go.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Are you sure? When I get rolled up? Like, you know, brought back into the room. Oh, right, right, right. Not like a mummy. I'm alive. God, you'd banished up that much. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:19 To be fair, it was pretty bad down there. And they go, are you sure about that? And they go, yes. Oh, God, he'll love it. He'll love it. He'll love it. What a great surprise. He thinks, oh, no, she's dying or dead.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And I go, boo, here I am with no warning. And I think it's, honestly, I think it's the most brilliant plan and idea and, like, a bit of a prank. And they're like, right. okay and they listen to I know why didn't they say no we're not taking the crazy ladies like in the end after she's been on the gas
Starting point is 00:17:47 why did they let me do that so then lo and behold I sit there for another wee wild and like just let him sit just let him wait he thinks I'm dead I do that with radio ideas sometimes when you're kind of like sleeping but you're kind of a little bit in little bit out and I go I need to write that down that's such a good idea
Starting point is 00:18:02 and I ride down and then when I wake up we're never doing that I think maybe from the nurse's perspective though like it's been a boring day we need something to spice it up Who wants to go Get some streamers? The nurse is like, I actually do want to see how he reacts. So like,
Starting point is 00:18:15 I sit there for another 45 minutes to an hour in recovery. Like, I'm there. An hour! Like, I'm sitting there. I'm chilly. It's a long time. I'm just chilling out.
Starting point is 00:18:22 I'm fine. Please. Basically, Glenn. I'm loopy as. And then they finally find somebody, because they have to get people to like, okay, we have to wheel you up and they have to find the right nurses.
Starting point is 00:18:32 It's busy. So they finally wheel me back up and like, here's my moment. I'm going to get wheeled into the room and I'm going to go, hey sucker. I'm still alive. Shame.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Like, still alive. Lose. Are you crying? What's wrong with me? I haven't seen my baby yet. So it's like, you know, like basically, I still don't really know what it is. And then they, I'm going up to the room. I'm like, here I go, here I go.
Starting point is 00:18:54 And then they spin the bed around because they put you in head first. So I didn't even get to see a surprise. And I remember being like, because I got to spin you around to get you in through the door. And I remember going, no, wait. Oh, like, what's he doing? Can't see him crying. Is he crying? What's going on?
Starting point is 00:19:12 Has anybody got the party poppers? Edge breakfast with Clint Meg and Dan. So mean. So mean. I've apologised it. Yeah. All right. We need you to be the jury for Flat Idol.
Starting point is 00:19:24 We got a bunch of flats around the country looking to win R&V tickets for the last time in Gizzy. Clint McGinn, Dan. Edge Breakfast. It's Flats Idol. Five flats looking to win six tickets for their entire flat to R&V. They're also going to get accommodations sorted in a VIP Vintage Club upgrade. The task was to write an original song and then create it, produce it, perform in it. Which is actually easier set than done, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:19:52 Yeah, we've had three very different ways of doing it. We've had one, I think, very AI, or at least help with AI. We've earned our strikes for Dave and is questionable nights. We've had one that they did the kind of parody. We've one play. For the time for me, it's so off the bee. And we one play We did a total
Starting point is 00:20:15 original with all instruments in singing themselves. Friday night in Hamilton What are we gonna do? Same old streets, same old boss Same old bloody new So what's left? What is it?
Starting point is 00:20:28 And there's nothing else to do. That was yesterday's edition. We have a brand new one that will day build at 8.30 this morning. That last one you just heard. Everything's, they've done everything themselves. So the music, like the trumpets, the singing, everything's real.
Starting point is 00:20:44 So amazing. Winners, which is well done. And so you do turn around and say there's got to be more points for the effort that's gone in there, right? But then also I'm like, yeah, but they all study music. So it's easier for them than it is for the others. But sometimes life just dishes you up a competition that you are made for. Exactly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:00 If you create a song and you're a flat full of musicians, maybe it's yours to win. And how shitty would it be if you entered a competition? You're like, oh my God, finally a competition for me because this is my skill. And they go, yeah, but you're skilled. So you're a disqualify. Yeah, yeah. You're like, wait, what? Points off because you're already good.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Wait, but I've practiced my whole. whole life for this moment. True. I did quite like the one where they're all singing over each other though. I think they're my favourite in my heart. I do love them.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Just re-record and get the timing better. I just get the vibe that they struggled through it. I'd imagine there would have been a lot of stress. There would have been someone going, you're singing over me. But they did it anyway. I reckon they listen to it back and they're like, I think we're going to have to do it again. And they're like, Jessica, we're not doing it again. You said we'd
Starting point is 00:21:42 just have to do it one time. She's like, do you want to got R&V or not? Yeah. Yeah, it would have been a lot. So they're the winner in my eyes. I do love that they parodied five though. Yeah. And then they did a great transition and yeah,
Starting point is 00:21:54 from five, from Dolly Parton to five. Yeah, that's right. It actually started like this. That screams of not being able to decide what's not going to do. So they just did both. Packing our bags, yeah, we're heading to Gisbon, Gisbon, gold is our cup of ambition. From the capital city, so our vibes are always high.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Hi. Hi. I mean, they went with the topical thing because all they, obviously, Dolly passed away the week before. So I know what they were trying to do. Then the first team had Paddy Gower in their song. So they all have bonuses. We've still got two more songs. We'll debut.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Song number four, just before 8.30. And then Friday morning after we've heard all five, then we can officially start the voting. So it's fair. So no one gets to have more time to accumulate votes than the other. Let's get into easy money. You need a thousand bucks. What for? Let us know. Let us know what you need. One K to spend it on.
Starting point is 00:22:41 I'd be spending it on fixing up my house for somebody else to enjoy when I move out. Yeah, Mick's, we can just sell a house. Yeah, come by my house. Do you want to buy a house in Auckland? Yeah. Just go through the open homes and see what Meg's house is like.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Yeah, I think I'm going to move my underwear all out. Because I don't know. I'll rate yourself. I'm going to have a snap. Easy money. Clint. Time. You ready, Brogan?
Starting point is 00:23:05 And Dan. Oh my God. Easy money. Bang on 7 o'clock. Here we go. A thousand bucks on the line. The letter is F for funds. Hopefully we can get a thousand.
Starting point is 00:23:15 thousand bucks into your bank account. You just need to give us 10 answers in 30 seconds. You can pass. You just can't give us the same answer twice. I think whoever gets this has hit the jackpot of letters because F is one of the easier ones. Okay. Well, Ariana's sister played.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Do you remember what her letter was? F! No, no, no, no. Her letter was, I don't know what her letter was. But did you just say the letter is S today? No, it's F. Far out, man. Fish, fish, fish.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Oh, my gosh. I thought it was T. I've got all the answers to T. Oh, no. Okay, so it's F for being blessed. It's right. Babe, T is 8 o'clock. T is 8.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Okay, so good luck. F. So what is it, F? F. F for fruits of your labour. Yeah, and T is at 80. Leave your leg, go over there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:57 No, it's all right. Let's just do this. Okay, so you've got. It's like you've been preparing and stretching for a wrong sport and you just found out we've entered you. She just said, if I haven't got this, by the way. Okay. I'm playing rugby.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Let's just all have reset, okay? This has been a chaotic start. Right. Yeah. Let's do this. Come on. Take a deep breath. Do you need to just calm ourselves.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Okay. Ariana. Give me something that you'd buy at a supermarket. Fish fingers. A country. France. A relative. A father.
Starting point is 00:24:36 An occupation. French stick maker. A drink. Phrysophist a... Oh, damn it. A drink. Fizzy drink A musical instrument
Starting point is 00:24:47 A finger puppet Something hot Not music Um Fis fingers I can't say the same thing Honestly Stop
Starting point is 00:24:58 Time Yeah Would we have accepted an occupation A French stick maker Because we definitely wouldn't have accepted Physicist which starts with a P I know I know
Starting point is 00:25:09 What is it a French stick? Someone has to make French sticks This is so new This is so newbracking I had this at sea, right? I'd love to hear a song. I'd love to hear a song of the musical instrument, finger puppets. I'd be surprised.
Starting point is 00:25:22 I've got a child. I can make that happen. I've got a nine months old baby. I could do that. Hey, Ariana, I feel like you may never call us again because this is being so... I'll be surprised, honestly, Ariana, if anybody's been able to hear anything that's gone on this break. It's just been a cacophony of noise. Hictic.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Hictic. Very hectic. Well, makes you feel better. I'm going to Kmart. opening today. Oh yes. My whole day is going to be hectic but it's really better.
Starting point is 00:25:47 I want you to talk about this actually, Ariana. No, it's the biggest Kmart in New Zealand's opening just down the road from me and Westgate. Oh really? Auckland's getting another one. Are you going to the opening, Ariana? That's going to be, you know how insane
Starting point is 00:26:01 that's going to be, right? Look, I live on adrenaline and he's kidding me. And that's why I called out not really knowing what the country is. Okay. Ariana, can you be our Kmark correspondent? We'll call you when you're in the queue. You can let us know.
Starting point is 00:26:13 what it's like when it opens at what time? Where are you going? It opens at 8, 8 o'clock. The kids go to school at 8, 30, 9 o'clock. I'll be around there. I'll be there about 9 o'clock. Oh, you're not there for the opening. You're an hour late.
Starting point is 00:26:26 This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys off here and a little looser? Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. This is the Overthinkers podcast. If you want more of Clint Meag and Dan, we do a podcast after the show, which is a little bit more loosey-goosey, away with probably more, or definitely more than we could get away with on the radio.
Starting point is 00:26:48 And yesterday, Dan brought to our attention, something that the researchers are researching. In fact, 10,000 people were surveyed. Yeah, of the three celebrities that you'd have over dinner at a dinner party, living or dead. I mean, we've all had the conversation, haven't we? Who would you have over your dream guest, dinner guests? Yeah, we all have. I just don't know researchers were interviewing 10,000 people at asking them. Yeah, and so there's lots of different categories of the,
Starting point is 00:27:13 like musicians, actors, famous, like, historical figures. But I've got, like, I boiled it down to the top five people that people want to have over for dinner. Brad Pitt came up a lot. Okay. So he was one of the most voted for in the acting world.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Albert Einstein. Boring. Came up again. Yeah, I feel like he would be, like he's a very interesting man. He obviously didn't, he's done a lot of stuff for science. Yeah. But he would just be above my pay grade in terms of brain capacity.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Yeah. I wouldn't have anything to converse with him. So far, I'm bored at this dinner party. Who's next? Michelle and Barack Obama. Both of them together. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They come as a package deal, apparently.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Robin Williams. Yeah, great. Okay, so now I'm very interested in coming along. Yep. And Margot Robbie, another actress, apparently was in the list as well of some of the most sought after people. It is, isn't it? Yeah. I mean, I know we talked about it on the Overthinkers podcast yesterday,
Starting point is 00:28:16 and I actually would change my mind now, but this is what the three of us said when Dan put it to us on the spot. Who were you inviting? Remember you're wanting? Dead or alive? All right, let's go Dead or Alive. Robin Williams. Adele.
Starting point is 00:28:28 You're instantly kind of funny there. You've got too much funny. You got a lot of funny. You want someone that's a little bit more. Oh, Miriam Margolly. What a fun tape. What a fun dinner party. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:37 I mean, it would be chaotic. It would be chaotic. Absolutely chaotic. Good stories come out of that. Yeah. Okay, you can't. Okay. Megan Fox.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Oh, God. Rachel McHillons, Oh, for goodness sake. They're all nude in the spa by seven. I guarantee it. Mago Robby? You have to have one guy there. No, I don't.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I should have said that at the start. And the chick from voicemails for Isabel on Netflix. Zoe Dooch. Zoe Dooch. Honestly, it's dinner. I'm not even going to bother. It would have been Cher Celine Dion and some other old. Okay, so Dan did the same thing as me.
Starting point is 00:29:11 after chewing me out, Celine Dionne Cher. I would change it now that I had more time. I'd have Ricky Jervais there. Oh, that's a weird, I would have Celine and maybe Lewis Hamilton. You said dead or alive, if I'm not having a,
Starting point is 00:29:23 it's not like a... Orgy? No, I was going to say, party for the girls and me. Then I think I'd just go like the boys and I'd go Chandler, Joey and Ross. You're just going to ask them to act like their characters
Starting point is 00:29:37 are not being themselves, Dad. It'd be like, literally, have you ever watched friends and you wish that you were friends with them and you were on the set? That would be me. That would be so weird. That all turn up as themselves and then Climmy would be like, actually guys can you pretend to be your character as friends? Do we be any more disinterested?
Starting point is 00:29:53 My God, honestly. They're like, oh my gosh, we finally have Matthew Perry. He's risen from the dead. My brother, like my friend and then you're coming in and go, no Chandler. Chandler. This is Chandler. This is so weird. This is so weirdest party I've ever been invited to. Remember that episode? Chandler
Starting point is 00:30:09 where you want to change your name to Clint? That's me. I'm quince. He's like, now, who wants to get nude into the society? All right, which celebrities have we forgotten?
Starting point is 00:30:18 10,000 people were surveyed which three celebrities, dead or alive, would get a seat at your table for dinner. The most voted ones were Brad Pitt, Albert Einstein, Robin Williams, the Obamas,
Starting point is 00:30:28 both Michelle and Barack. And I go Robbie as well. According to chat, GBT, do you want to know what chat says, the right answer, if you're going for maximum stories last, and no awkward silence. You go Robin Williams, who was on the list.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Gordon Ramsey and Dwayne Johnson. Oh yeah, I feel like those three would get on. Yeah. In a way. A lot of swearing. Very sexist, chat. I changed mine out, I think, from Adele. She's out now and I put Steve Irwin in.
Starting point is 00:30:56 That's a great suggestion from Page that I've seen. He actually, it was his anniversary just a couple days ago, 20 years since his death. I know. He would be overpowering, though, just so you know, Steve Irwin, he'd be, oh, you know, you wouldn't get a word. Oh, yeah. See Meg's dog. and then he'd be like, oh, you're right, you're right. Try and like tackle it to the grounds.
Starting point is 00:31:13 I'd find it very entertaining, if I'd be honest. All right, let's go to Anna. Morning. Good morning. Morning, Anna. So who would you be inviting to your imaginary dinner party celebrities dead or alive? He's leger.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Yeah, that's a goodie. Just him? Just so you can have a one-on-one with Keith. You don't want to share his time with anyone else? No, probably just him. Yeah. Yeah. Just Anna and he.
Starting point is 00:31:41 I love Johnny's text. Jonah Lomu. What a great option. A lot of good stories. RIP to Jonah, but yeah, incredible New Zealander. Dolly Pardon, I've only been recently watching a lot of interviews with her since her passing. My God, what a funny, amazing woman she was. True.
Starting point is 00:31:54 She'd be a good time, I think, as well. She's one of those people I didn't appreciate her when she was alive, and now you see all these videos after her passing. And you're right. Very funny, talented, gifted lady. I was watching this video about success, and it said the only thing that successful people have in common is failure. Dolly Pardon, the amount of song she wrote versus how many were hits. Only 3% of the song she ever wrote were hits,
Starting point is 00:32:14 but we still know her as one of the biggest names of music. That's amazing. Okay, Matthew, who would you be bringing to the dinner party? Saturday? Yeah, are you Matt? I am. Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Oh, yeah. You'd get the juice on the whole saga with his wife and Taylor Swift. If he's a blab of mouth. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Are you watching Welcome to Rixham, Matthew? No. No. Why won't Ryan Reynolds?
Starting point is 00:32:44 He's a bit of a man crush, I must say. Oh, yes. A lot of men. It's one. Just be you and him as well. Yeah. Yeah. Take him to the spar at 7 o'clock.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Are we read out Johnny's text before? Johnny, you'd have a legendary person there? Yeah, I would have Jane Al-Ommu. Yeah. Even if he brought over... Do you remember he had this? He was obviously a legendary all-black. But he also was very famous for having a real souped-up Jeep.
Starting point is 00:33:09 He had like the biggest sound system in the world. Yeah, I do remember something like that. Wasn't he on a TV show we used to do in New Zealand called Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? I feel like he was probably on that. He's one of the first big international superstars from New Zealand. Some of the ones that have come in, Angie loves the drama. She'd invite Kate and Megan and just sit and watch, I imagine. That would be good.
Starting point is 00:33:31 His fireworks would go off. And then Hayden said I have my top three Clint's Eastwood, Roberts and Randall. Oh, I'm excited. I don't know how much Eastwood's contributing. The dude's like 99. Nathan would have Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Dan Webby. Jesus Christ. We'd get on.
Starting point is 00:33:50 We'd all be laughing by the end of it. Nightmare. And then a few people inviting celebrity chefs, Anthony Bourdain. It's like, how sucks for him if you think he's going to a dinner party and then he finds out he's cooking for everyone? No, that would suck. Nightmare. All right, how are you coming up next.
Starting point is 00:34:04 There is a trend going around online at the moment. And this morning at about 5 a.m., Dan said to me, this is a real opportunity, I think, for our Meg to shine. Yeah, it really is. It's a moment where we will hold Meg up on a pedestal, Clinton and I, and we will go look at her, just fly. Wow, we didn't think she could do it, but look at her up there. I feel like, is this opposite's land, and you're just going to watch to be fake?
Starting point is 00:34:26 No, I mean, there is the opportunity that you might fail. I don't think you will. With all things in life. To be great, you need to be willing to fail sometimes. So we're going to hold you up above us. You didn't wear a dress today, did you? No. Good, good.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Your favorite radio show In Podcast 4 Edge Breakfast Clint Meg and Dan Meg you are being given The incredible opportunity To showcase your broadcasting talents To the nation
Starting point is 00:34:49 You may have seen the trend On TikTok and Instagram Where people hand their friend A piece of paper With a whole load of words on it And they say These are words that My friend can't pronounce
Starting point is 00:34:59 We're doing the opposite though Because I think Meg can pronounce All these words So what I'm going to do Meg Is I'm going to you a piece of paper with a whole load of English language words written down. Yeah, they are some of the most mispronounced words in the English language. Can you guys at least remind people, English is my second language?
Starting point is 00:35:17 Because that would make a lot more impressive. What's your first? What's the first language? Irrelevant. She just never spoke for two years. It's my second language. It's actually very impressive. Don't open it yet, but I'm handing it to you.
Starting point is 00:35:29 And I want you just to instantly start reading down the list. And you can't move on until you get it correct. And you guys will tell me if it's true. We'll get out, yeah, of course. Okay, what's that first one? Seg. Incorrect. So it's spelled S-E-G-U-E.
Starting point is 00:35:46 Like a Segway? Correct. Segway. Shut up, is that how you spell segue? Yeah. No, it isn't. And a lot of people mistake it for that Segway machine, you know. The one that is a W-N is actually a brand name.
Starting point is 00:35:59 Yeah, I thought. I mean, they write it to actually. So the whole, the S-E-G-U-E is Segway. Yeah. Wow. The next one. FOPAR. Correct.
Starting point is 00:36:09 See, I knew she'd be good at this. That's one of the most mispronounced words in the English language. Fox Pass. Yeah. F-A-U-X-P-A-S. Next. Colonel. She is incredible.
Starting point is 00:36:23 Well, I'm a bit guarded with Segway, if I'm being honest. So, Colonel, obviously, a high-ranking commissioned officer in the Army. What's this next one? Another C-word. Or the K-F-C guy. Conscientious. Conscientious. We'll give it to her.
Starting point is 00:36:35 She's doing very, very, very. well. They do get harder as we move along. So conscientious obviously a strong sense of doing what is right. Can I offer you a hors d'oeuv? She is doing well! So the one I've seen online people doing this
Starting point is 00:36:50 that one is always wrong. They always say like hors d'oeuvres. H-O-D-O-R-S. I would say that online. H-O-R-S, space D and then apostrophe O-I-V. That's crazy. Sudonym. Correct. Clint. This could be
Starting point is 00:37:06 A clean sweep for Mansell. A clean sweep. That's not what you said. Ironically. Hyperbole. She's acing this team. Flem. Uroocracy.
Starting point is 00:37:22 The last two are the ones that people get the most incorrect. This is spelled B-O-U-R-G-E-O-I-S. It's a French word rather than an English word, to be fair. Oh, do I know the word? Have I heard? it in English? Like, why, have I heard it spoken? I would say it's not a word you'd use often. How would the...
Starting point is 00:37:46 Have a go, just have a go. Bejose? No. Damn it. Bejoy? Bejoi? I don't know it. What's that word? Bougoir. Bouchoir! Is that how you spell Bousoir? There's not even a Z in there.
Starting point is 00:38:04 It's like a middle class. Another word for like being in the middle class. Yeah, I know what Bougoir means, but I've never seen it written. Okay, so there should be two more Yeah, yeah. Okay, now these are the hardest ones. Okay. If... Remember English is her second language.
Starting point is 00:38:21 English is my second language, okay. If, um... I don't know this word. Ifameral? Ephemeral. What does that mean? Lasting for a very short time. Oh, like you in the bedroom.
Starting point is 00:38:32 So Dan is a femoral. I'm quite a femoral when it comes to the bedroom stuff. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. Clint, Megan Dan The Edge Books by Boomers
Starting point is 00:38:46 I have a book by Maribel Morgan who said the total woman so this is for ladies and advice from her from the 1970s keep that in mind for context Yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:38:59 So it's called the perfect wave of libido Has it ever dawned on you That making love in bed With the lights out Week after week And month after month Might become dulled to your husband
Starting point is 00:39:09 And ladies at least make it romantic. Buy them fresh flowers. They're a must. So as music. Spray your sheets. Emmerse them in love. Buy us flowers? Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Nah. Do you guys have your lights fully on? No. No. No, I have them dimmed. Yeah, like him like a romantic. I feel like fully, lights fully on is a bit weird. Produce the car?
Starting point is 00:39:28 We got a like a special red light that goes on for that time. And I'm like, it's just like a low red glow. It's very sexy. That just not surprised me. I think that makes my wife anxious. Because we have like lights in the lounge like a, like a, like a, like a little a wall and you can light up different colors. It doesn't like the red.
Starting point is 00:39:42 For a change tonight after the children are in bed, place a lighted candle on the floor and seduce them under the dining room table. Fire hazard. If it chips over and goes onto the carpet. There's not a lot of room under ours. It's like a concrete table. You'd struggle to get one person under there.
Starting point is 00:39:59 How about the hammock? Or in the garden. Even if you can't actually follow through, at least the suggestion is exciting. Your husband may say, darling, we don't have a hammock. Yeah, we don't. And you can say, oops, I forgot. That's incredible.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Wait, if you did it out in the garden, do you have neighbours you can see in your backyard? Yes, very much so. In fact, we've got two-story houses either side. So they'll be looking straight down into my hammock, with my little bottom going up and down, up and down. Birds eye view. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:28 A Houston doctor gave this advice to a young wife. I see that you're following the same pattern. Many of my older patients have followed. They are past the point of taking my advice, but you are young and can change the path you're on. My advice is this. Love your husband first and foremost. And most importantly, don't ever love him at night.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Only love him during the day. What a startling prescription. This doctor knew that boredom sets in when sex becomes routine. He told her to make love in the morning in the afternoon, but never at 10.30. She's like, I've got an infection in my toe. Like, why are we even talking about sex? And she's just gone to the doctor. Goes on to say, my husband found my love making.
Starting point is 00:41:08 unimaginative. And the woman who would never think of serving her husband the same frozen television dinner every evening, sometimes serves in the same frozen sex response every night. Nothing wrong with the frozen dinner. For super sex tonight, respond eagerly to your husband's advances. Don't just injure it. Indifference hurts him more than every anything. He may enjoy love making even when you're a limp dishrague. Jesus. But if you're eager, watch out. She was really for the me and a, Mirabal. Yeah, she was team. She was on the dudes team, hey, writing this.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Yeah. And she said, wow. I'm joking, obviously. Times have changed. Times have changed. By the way, if you turn it halfway through, was from a book written in the 70s. So we just see how much things have moved.
Starting point is 00:41:52 Yeah. She goes on to talk about how a psychiatrist once ordered a couple to have intercourse 14 times a day. And the funny thing is, we were talking about it off here after we did it last time. And she is still alive. Oh, yes. And still married happily to the man that she was talking. about in those books.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Oh, yeah. So that proves that the fact she spins in that are true. Next, we talk about two of Dan's most viral videos. In fact, they have a combined viewing of 80 million. And they are both jokes about his small diddle. Well, no. Yeah, I guess they are. You can explain next because I've got to play some ads because they pay our wages.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Clint McGee and Dan. Edge Breakfast. The Edge. Who would have thought Dan decided what? Probably a year ago would it be, Dan? Over a year ago, yeah. Post a funny little video of him in a sushi train restaurant, and he did a small dittle gag,
Starting point is 00:42:44 and who would have thought that that video would have amassed across TikTok and Instagram over 100 million views? Yeah, and then I did a second one, a follow-up, because I was like, that went well. And so I did another one where it was a lady talking about how three inches is really long, and she's got a measuring tape. And so then it cuts to me, and I've got the measuring tape, and I'm like, looking really stoked with myself. and that video has been used by, I will say, a very talented artist
Starting point is 00:43:11 who, what does she do? She paints celebrities, doesn't she? Yeah, draws pictures of people, but she's also an amazing tattoo artist. And how many views is the second small dittle joke video? I think that was slightly less, in the millions still, but luckily not a hundred million. And then you thought, excuse the pun, you thought you'd be able to shake it off and move on with your life. I've moved on to higherbrow stuff. Sure.
Starting point is 00:43:36 And then Melis turns out, no, she decided to paint you, put it on Instagram, and she used that video as a reference. Morning, Melis. Hi, how are you? Good. Now, you have an Instagram called Web to Ink on Instagram, and you're a tattoo artist. You do a lot of celebrities.
Starting point is 00:43:53 In fact, you've done Meg and Clint, as well as a whole load of other international and New Zealand celebrities, and you chose me, and you chose the screenshot of me with the tape measure. Thank you. Yeah, you're welcome His friend, Chris overseas, saw it and commented You've nailed Dan's double chin, by the way Yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:44:10 You could have given me a bit better drawline I mean, you were drawing me You had artistic mirrors Yeah Yeah And so you're just thinking Like sometimes you just, you know Got to stop and appreciate this and all the things in life
Starting point is 00:44:24 Yeah Thanks, you do! You do Choice of words No, it's all perfect towards the words really So if you want to see it you can, I think, text Dan to 3343 and it'll take you to a video of Melisa's video of drawing me.
Starting point is 00:44:38 But there was another thing we wanted to bring up, wasn't there? Melis, you talked about Dan, and you said a lot of nice things about us in the show. We appreciate that. Thank you. Whilst you were drawing Dan, but there was one thing that really caught mine and Meg's attention towards the end of the video
Starting point is 00:44:54 when you said this. And I think Dan's a very good role model for men and boys in New Zealand. It's so refreshing to see a man. who embraces his femininity and at the same time is so secure in his masculinity. Is... Is anyone listening? Who goes, yep, boy, man.
Starting point is 00:45:13 We would accept calls from women who have been inspired by our Dan Webby. Because I thought you might have been blowing a little too much smoke. With examples, I think. We don't want to flood the phones. No, we don't want to flood them, I guess. So if you have been inspired by Dan,
Starting point is 00:45:29 not just inspiring when you think he's cool anything. It's inspired to literally do something or change something about your life because of Dan. Please let us know. Yeah. We, I mean, I don't want to try and prove you a liar. If anything, Males, we're hoping you're right. And mum, don't call. Leave it to the other people to talk. We want the lines open, okay, because there's so many people calling. Melissa, you're very talented, and I hope your journey to paint different New Zealanders really increases your following and, you know, puts you on the map because you are very, very clever. Yeah. Well done. Thank you so much. Have you wanted to.
Starting point is 00:46:01 Chakaa follow WebDink on Instagram. WebDink, yeah, go on you go out and Toppor. Thank you, Malice. The phone's working, producer Carl? Are they all right this morning? Has anybody? Everything, hey, are the phones? No, everything is working tip-top.
Starting point is 00:46:15 100% yeah. Forward. I know exactly what you're doing. You're setting me up to fail because, no, but let's be honest, who's been inspired by me? Nobody. Well, according to... I'm not inspiring.
Starting point is 00:46:26 You inspire me to have a pie. Did you tell me you? tell me that they're good. And I've been, do you know what? I'd be more interested in pizza shapes too. Well,
Starting point is 00:46:38 I am the least inspiring person. That's not true. That's not true. Did some art and she drew our Dan and we saw it pop up on Instagram and while she was drawing it and she's a very clever artist and tattooist,
Starting point is 00:46:48 she said this about our Dan Weby. And I think Dan's a very good role model for men and boys in New Zealand. It's so refreshing to see a man who embraces his femininity. Right. No, keep it going because then she says I'm also very, very masculine.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Don't have time, buddy. We've got easy money soon. Right. So have you been inspired by Dan? And to do what? Okay. Well, we've got lots of calls, Dan, too. Yeah, but that will be taking the piss.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Morning, Belinda. No, she's not. Hi, Belinda. Morning. What have you, what has Dan inspired you to do? Well, this is the first time I've heard about this. And I did see him on TikTok a little while. So I saw one of, my husband showed me of bread or something like,
Starting point is 00:47:29 but anyway. But, you know, it's not the size it matters. I'm hung up on her. I've hung up on her. You have inspired her to embrace small. No, she's having to go. She's not. Sophia says I've been inspired to consider the name Maverick for our baby boy.
Starting point is 00:47:47 There you go. You know what? That is my favourite name. I tried to get it across the line for my son, George, but it wasn't working with Hannah, my wife. This is a good. Texan, I agree with you, Athena. In Dan's defense, the people he'd be inspiring, are likely not the type of the confidence to call.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Yes, thank you. Okay, what about Jessie? Oh, Jessie. Let's see. Jesse, Jessie. Hello, Jessie. Good morning, Jessie. Hi, Dan's inspired me to put being in a play on my bucket list.
Starting point is 00:48:16 That's amazing. Yes, Arden is the theatre boy of the show. Yeah. You know what, I don't want to spoil your dreams, Jessie, but I haven't been in a play over ten years. Sorry, we did hook the musical. Oh, up, up, up, up. Yeah, I mean, that was one hell of a play, but Meg was the star. Have you done it yet, Jessie, or is it still too happen one day?
Starting point is 00:48:37 Well, I've got quite young children, so I don't have the time to commit to doing it, but it's definitely on the bucket list. You should. It's very good for confidence. Yeah, and I've just been, like, looking at some of the plays that are sort of around and what they're, like, looking for. Well, maybe we'll do hook the musical too. Figuring out what type of play that I want to be, and, like, whether it's, like, you know, a fun,
Starting point is 00:48:56 or if it wants to be drama-filled. Mark, okay. Let's finish on Jesse. Yeah, we'll finish on Jesse. Belinda did say she wasn't making fun of you and your small Pene, by the way. She was actually really inspired by that. And let's find one more.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Alex, what inspires you about Dan? Oh, no, I'm not inspired. I just want to play Easy Money. Brilliant. Thank you. Thank you. Here we go. Well, that was a great success.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Let's notch that up one for the Radio Awards. Nice. Brilliant stuff. Oh, well. Well, we'll play at 90s. seconds, thousand bucks on the line, the letter is T if you can give us 10 answers in 30 seconds. The only other checks we got was someone saying Mavericks, their son's name. So thanks for that.
Starting point is 00:49:39 No, someone else said you inspired them to buy a vacuum cleaner. Oh, for goodness sake. And the phones are broken. They've really lit up for the easy money. There you are. Easy money. Time for your favorite game. Easy money. Here we go, one past eight. The letter is T. Give us 10 answers in 30 seconds, starting with T,000 bucks is yours. You can pass. If we've got time, we'll go back. You can't repeat answers, though. I've got a really good
Starting point is 00:50:07 feeling that Alex is going to take home $1,000. Morning, Alex. Good morning. Let's just say, congratulate you now. Well done. Yeah. Okay, you're holding that money in your hand. All you need to do is answer 10 questions. I hope so. Okay, well, the time starts at the end of Meg
Starting point is 00:50:25 asking you your first question. Calm yourself because we're about to get into it. Okay, here we go. I don't mean you, Mech. I mean, Alex, come. I have to car myself because there's a lot of... She was just let her do it, okay? It's her thing. Give me a boy's name.
Starting point is 00:50:38 Thomas. A food. Toast. A body part. Buy. A job. Train driver. Something you drink.
Starting point is 00:50:56 A car part. Pire. A reptile. A part. Something you climb. Time. Time, Alex. That was question eight.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Need to be a little quicker. We had a couple of parsing there. Things we had for something you drink was tea. or I guess tonic water, reptile turtle, a tortoise, and something you climb a tree. Because we'll hear down or I guess a tower. Oh, of course.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Yeah. It sounds so easy when I give those answers, though. I've got them in front of me. Well, well done, Alex. I mean, it wasn't the best effort we've seen, but it was by far not the worst either. You know, so I think you've saved face there. Well done, mate.
Starting point is 00:51:39 Thanks, Alex. Back again at 7 and 8, if you think you can get the job done. Coming up next, it's our year, the Warriors, up the wares, all of the above. I feel like I am a bit of a jinx when it comes to the Warriors. And I think there's other people out there
Starting point is 00:51:55 that might feel the same as me. Get you, Clint McGreg and Dan Fix. The Warriors are going to be taken on the dolphins. Their last seven meetings, the Warriors have won three out of seven. And I think like a lot of people in New Zealand, I've jumped on the bandwagon this year because it's been one of our most successful years
Starting point is 00:52:12 in recent history, hasn't it, by far? We have scored, More points than we've ever scored in any season in our 31 year history. We finished second on the ladder, which gives us a life going into the playoffs week one. And I think it's great for the team to have all these new supporters on there because they're doing well. We're called bandwagon jumpers, aren't we? Which is fine. Dan's wearing the merch and stuff.
Starting point is 00:52:31 And I was like, great. Yeah, if you're a true fan of anything, you're only happy when people will discover more. Of course. Why would you get annoyed that more people embracing the team that you love? I don't understand. Exactly. Yeah. I am very, very worried, though, that over the last few weeks,
Starting point is 00:52:45 I'm starting to think that I'm a jinx for the team. And that might seem crazy, but I know a lot of Warriors fans who haven't said it's our year because in the past we've said that and we've gone out early. So it's like, no one wants to jinx it. Even saying it's our year and people go,
Starting point is 00:53:03 oh, good one, now you've jinxed it. So there are a lot of Warriors fans who are worried about bad luck in different ovaries. Yeah, very much. It's irrefutable proof this last weekend when we played Manly. I had it on at home. I turned it on from the start.
Starting point is 00:53:17 I watched the whole build-up and everything. I was like, I'm just going to watch the whole game. I turn it on. We go 12-4 down early on to Manley. So I turn it off because I'm like, I am a jinx. Every time I watch a game, they lose. But, you know, I just want to give yourself some credit. You know, games go up and down, Dan.
Starting point is 00:53:36 You know, that's what happens. Okay, but you turned it off, and then we scored three tries in a row in the lead-up to half-time. And I thought I'd turn it. back on at half time. Okay. So I turned it back on and bing, bang, boom! Yeah, Manly scored three in a row. Oh, Dan.
Starting point is 00:53:52 So then I turn it off again. Because I'm like, that's it. Yeah. And I didn't watch it again for the rest of the game. Okay, then the Warriors with 10 minutes to go, yeah. Score and convert a try. And with three minutes to go, hit a drop goal, and we win 31.30.
Starting point is 00:54:08 That's crazy, right? Yeah, no, that does feel more like proof than just... And I already went into it knowing that every time I watch we lose when I I'm sitting there witnessing the game. It's for some reason that team it just goes downhill. So what are you going to? We need to sacrifice you. I feel like for this next game
Starting point is 00:54:25 because this next one is important against the dolphins this weekend. In fact, they're the formed team, aren't they? The dolphins. Yeah, they're doing very, very well at the moment. We have got a home game. If we win, we go straight to round three. We get a buy next week. I think I need to get as far away, Meg, from watching, being able to witness, even to hear the score.
Starting point is 00:54:43 Antarctica. Somewhere like that. We've got the budget. I mean, I'm willing to go somewhere deep underground, somewhere high in the sky. I don't know, just as far away as I can get within the time. I don't think we can go, like, long ways and go to another country, but we can go down or up. Well, can you check a one-way flight to Antarctica, which is called me know what this? Easy as, yeah. But I want to compile a team.
Starting point is 00:55:03 One way? I'm going to call it this. Okay, what's he got? Clint Megan Dan's, New Zealand Warriors. New Zealand Warriors. If you're worried that you are like me in a bit of a jinx for the Warriors Come with me We will escape New Zealand
Starting point is 00:55:23 I don't think we haven't done with that many flights W O R-R-R-I-E-S Warriors Warriors And I actually as a Warriors fan would feel much better If you and all the other jinxes were Away from any sort of broadcast Less worried about the Warriors
Starting point is 00:55:41 This is how crazy some Warriors fans are someone said, Dan, just stop even talking about the waz you'll jinx them talking about it. So that's why I want to get as far away. Like, I wonder if we can get some sort of bunker car, where me and a whole load of other unlucky people or jinxers go underground. We have the night of our lives. There's no warriors like in sight. Not even allowed to wear the merch.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Maybe we could wear the merch. No, no, no. Don't take the merch into the jinx bunker. I'll take free merch if I get it. But we go deep underground. We have a fun night of, I don't know what, board games. If anything, we should get you all wearing dolphins jerseys. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Well, if you're a jinx, then we're the opposition's the team. You're an unlucky person like me. Maybe you think you're also a jinx for the Warriors, or maybe you're just unlucky as a person. Yeah, or maybe you know somebody who is a jinx, and you can kind of put them forward. Yeah, who's the most unlucky person you know, whether it's to do with sport or just in life?
Starting point is 00:56:36 And if it is you, you can tell us all the bad things that have happened to you. And we could start compiling a team of 13. Yeah, the New Zealand Warriors. And we all go underground. When is it this Saturday night? Yeah, 6.05. Yeah. And just completely escape.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Or maybe I watch the game again just to test it. No, you're not wanting. No, we don't need to test it anymore, I don't think. I think we're done. The Edge is the home of Clint Megan Dan's New Zealand Warriors. Are you worried that you might be jinxing the Warriors to winning their first ever grand final? Dan is a jinx. He's provided a lot of information.
Starting point is 00:57:15 Scientifically proven. Yeah, every time you watch they lose. Even the Manly game, every time you watch the Manly game scored, and then you turned it off right at the end and you won by one. I started watching it at the start. They went down 12-4, then I turned it off. They started winning again. Then I turned it back on and they started losing again.
Starting point is 00:57:31 It's not looking good, Dan, for you, if I'm being honest. You are sacrificing yourself to be put away in some sort of bunker, you think? Yeah, I think me and a whole load of New Zealand's, Luckyest people in general go underground. I don't know where this is. As a service, I think, to Warriors fans. And we thank you for your service, Dan. And I sacrifice myself, knowing that I will be as far away from that game as a Warriors fan just to help them win.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Can we all pass the hat around and start to give a little so we can buy Dan a dolphin's jersey? Yeah, Dan, just pass me your fedora. I feel like that is not a good thing to be wearing. And if you're a jinx, though, you'd be jinxing the team that you're wearing. Michelle's called thrown out of the edge. Michelle, you're an unlucky person like me. Oh, totally. I don't even have to see black cats.
Starting point is 00:58:15 Things just happen to me and, yeah. It's all good fun. You need to come underground with me. Okay, what happened? Give us some examples of some bad luck you've had. Hey, I went to Fiji to have my holiday of a lifetime. You know, you go to an island, you have cocktails, and you just relax. A coconut fell out of a tree took me out, and I ended up in the resort hospital.
Starting point is 00:58:37 What are the chances? Yeah, there's a bad chance. Michelle, actually. Okay. So you're on the list, absolutely. What about you, Stacey? You're a jinx as well, self-confessed. Yeah, so a few weeks ago, me and my partner was sitting there watching the Waz,
Starting point is 00:58:51 and I happened to mention that Dillon, like, does some massive hits, but never seems to get injured. Oh, no. Literally, within one to two minutes, he was injured. Okay, you need to come. You were in the bunker as well. Honestly, you need to be in there with me. You're as bad. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:59:07 Yeah, you gave him what they call. the commentator's curse. As soon as you start talking about something and then it happens, he's gone now. I think we also need to not only people, where you get as many black cats down there? No, we leave the black cats alone. Ladders, broken mirrors. If you've got any of them at your house, send them my way, I'll take them underground.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Actually, you know what else you could take? Mate of mine, Raj has, he's a big Warriors fan. He's got a lot of different t-shirts. There's one warrior's shirt that he's worn three times. We lost only six times this year. Three of those times every time he was wearing that jersey. It's in the bunker. Let's just burn that.
Starting point is 00:59:39 Shall we? Let's just catch that on fire. Maybe you can have one of those like brazias and you can just burn to burn it. I don't want that downstairs with us as well. Also, the chance of being knocked out by a coconut while on holiday in Fiji is less than 0.000 1%. Okay, then we need Michelle in that bunker.
Starting point is 00:59:58 In fact, I don't know if I want her in there. Maybe the bunker will burn down if she's in there. She's very unlucky. Yeah, and Leah's looking to get you a dolphin's jersey to wear. She thinks that's a good idea. Okay, thanks Leah. So, yeah, keep these coming through. If you feel like you're an unlucky person
Starting point is 01:00:11 or you are more specifically a jinx to the Warriors and you can prove it, come underground. We'll have an awesome night of karaoke, fun times. Yeah, you might even be able to nominate a partner or a friend who you know is a jinx. Yeah. And you go, this is where I need them. Underground during the Warriors playoff game
Starting point is 01:00:27 against the Dolphins on Saturday night. You could just also pretend you're a jinx if you just want to go and hang out with Dan and eat some pizza and have a cute little fun night with him. That would be fun actually. Yeah, it'll get some pizza. We just want movies and our pajamas. Yeah, that we do.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Anything but the Warriors. It's breakfast, Clint McGinn Dan. It's Flats Idol. Right, five flats that been tasked with creating an original song that will win them the tickets, the VIP Vintage Club upgrade and accommodation. It is the final dance at Waio Hoka State and Gizban. They want to be there for free, the Chazettes. Yeah, you want to be there.
Starting point is 01:00:59 Morning, Lily. Morning, Lily. Good morning, guys. How are you? We're good. We're so excited to hear your song. How are you feeling after hearing the other things? Yesterday was definitely a tough act to follow.
Starting point is 01:01:13 Yeah, yeah, yeah. They had like trumpets and all lots of instruments in there. Well, let's recap anyone who missed it. Just quickly, this was Monday. What's year, Gizzi, we've earned our stripes. Four-day benders questionable nights. Banks. Bit of AI used in there.
Starting point is 01:01:26 Yeah, quite a lot of it. Your own cred decision, I suppose. Then Tuesday. Definitely no AI. Now, that is one thing that we can say. And then, of course, we have the musician, who made everything from scratch. Friday night in Hamilton
Starting point is 01:01:46 What are we gonna do Same old streets Same old boss Same old blood in you And Lily What is what is the I guess the strategy That you have done
Starting point is 01:01:56 Have you done a parody Have you run it yourself Have you used AI What are the four Chazettes doing We have written An original No AI use We just thought we'd give it a crack
Starting point is 01:02:08 We had lots of fun doing it We made a little studio At home in our closet with some wired apple headphones. Okay, and so what instruments are you using in this? We made a beat on garage band. Okay. Old school.
Starting point is 01:02:23 Very old school. Lily, I'm so excited. Do you want to introduce what it's called? Absolutely. This is T-A-K-E by the four Chazette. Hit it. The Chazette. The Chazette.
Starting point is 01:03:53 Yes. Skills can sing. That is a voice. Thank you. Who's that? Who's the singer? Flatmate's camera in Bella, and then Lola and I did a few of that ad-lib.
Starting point is 01:04:07 Good on you. We're like, we're bringing the big guns. We're bringing the big guns. But even the lyrics are very well-written. T-A-K-E. It's amazing. Oh, wow, this is such a hard competition. If I was the next flat, the last one,
Starting point is 01:04:20 I'd be shaking. I bought a lot of my session. Unbelievable. I genuinely think Lily. I think you're the new frontrunner. Yeah, that was incredible. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:30 Well, well done. Yeah. So far, how awesome is it that we've had four different. different, four different ways of doing it. You know, all four are different. I mean, the sad thing is though it's not up to us, is it? Us three. It's up to the vote. Wow.
Starting point is 01:04:43 Leanne says, T-A-K-E is lit. Zara said, that's my fave so far. Wow. Wick said, yes, Lily, love it. Another one, oh my God, best yet. They win. But we were getting those texts yesterday as well. We were getting those texts yesterday. Look, Lily, I think you've done really, you should be so proud of yourselves. You guys have really come to play.
Starting point is 01:05:02 And we will have one more tomorrow and then the voting begin. Don't bother. Oh, wow. Wow. Get it on the edge, someone said. The boss is not as good. No, it's not as good. Maybe put it in nights.
Starting point is 01:05:15 Yeah. Up next, Megas received an email that she hasn't read to us, and it's my favourite thing. She just said, I'll read it to you on here. I love that for us. Now, is this a compliment? Or is it very much so not a compliment? I'm guessing not a compliment. Oh, yes, probably.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Listen to your favourite. breakfast show whenever you like. Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Meg received an email that she said to us. I'll just read it to you on here. Yeah, I read it and I got a little smile on my face because I thought, oh, the boys are going to heat this up.
Starting point is 01:05:47 Delicious. I'm licking my fingers. You're welcome, boys. I could have just kept this to myself, kept quiet about it. You're supposed to lick your lips? No, you know when you get the dust from the chips over your fingers and you're like me. Gotcha. Okay, I got an email to my personal account saying, hi Megman.
Starting point is 01:06:01 So I hope you're doing well. This is La Mish Dermatology in South Korea, the Dermatology Clinic in Korea with 25 years of history. Amazing. Koreans do some of the best skin care. They do, don't they? Well, according to Ash, London. Yeah, she loves them.
Starting point is 01:06:14 We would love to invite you for a complimentary treatment session at our dermatology. After looking at your social media pages, we believe we could offer you personalized help. Uh-oh. The word help is the one there. Maybe it's a language barrier, language barrier. In exchange for a review video for you to be shared on your social media, you can choose two of the five.
Starting point is 01:06:32 following treatment packages. Number one. What do you need after they've gone extensively through your social media? I wouldn't say they said extensively. She needs help.
Starting point is 01:06:40 That's what she needs. Again, language barrier, everybody remember this is from South Korea. Number one, fat reduction and fatal. Oh my God. Leave that for the last one. Don't hit her straight away with weight.
Starting point is 01:06:55 Jesus. It's just in my face as well. Straight off the back. It's not, it's just they just do face stuff. Wait, face fat. Fat reduction and facial contouring plus Botox. Bloody, so you look old.
Starting point is 01:07:07 Language barrier. Language barrier. True, true, true, true. Number two, facial lifting and fat reduction plus Botox. I've mentioned that twice. Wait, so you get both treatments or are you as a second option? I don't know, Dad. They give me lots of options.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Number three, skin tightening and lifting plus Botox. Number four, facial lifting and tightening plus Botox. or pigmentation laser plus Botox So essentially they've said your blotchy, fat, got loose skin and wrinkly
Starting point is 01:07:41 and wrinkly That's like the trifle And you would go Maybe it's a generic email They send out to everyone But she specifies at the start That I went through your Instagram And I can see where you need help
Starting point is 01:07:52 That's terrible Botox packages include Skin Botox And plus one additional area of your choice if you're interested, let us know Kind of regards. And Meg went straight back
Starting point is 01:08:05 and said yes, please. I tell you what, to make you feel Benamy, I got a company reach out to me saying that they could fix my teeth and that really got me. What are they sending to Dad? I haven't got anything yet.
Starting point is 01:08:16 I think I'm beyond help. They're like, we could run. Nah. Oh yeah, so I haven't gone back. I'm guessing I would have to pay for my flights and everything, but it is, it was very enlightening. I haven't had any Botox or fillers
Starting point is 01:08:28 as they can tell. They're like, she's dead. Definitely not had any work done. She's not had no word. We were just, yeah, but this is open. The old backhanded compliment is so funny. I feel like you can take a joke. I mean, yeah, I don't know where the compliment is in that, actually, to be fair.
Starting point is 01:08:41 Show me the email, because I feel you're blaming language barrier, but it's very well written. I mean, there's grammatical, no grammatical errors whatsoever. No, I mean, maybe, yeah. Who's it from when it says regards? Who? Regards Lemish Dermatology. And there's a lot of exclamation marks, too. shouting all the way through.
Starting point is 01:09:02 So they're really like being really strong with them. Oh good luck with that journey. Thank you so much, Dad. Yeah, that'll be my next holiday. If you want to make Meg feel better like I tried to do with the teeth. Maybe you can send in, you know,
Starting point is 01:09:15 your backhanded compliment or something that someone's trying to help you with. Not for me, though. Don't send any backhanded compliments for Meg. She's seen enough. Yeah, yeah, not for her. No, for you personally. Don't bring up it just insult me.
Starting point is 01:09:28 We don't need more. We don't need more companies. have another woodwork going, we can also fix you. Casey Klinick's got in touch. Yeah, no, I love Casey Kluen. They've got a seven-step program for you, me. We need to work harder. It's normally three, but they've had a few more for you.
Starting point is 01:09:43 Listen to your favorite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint Meg and Dan. The edge. The news is out. Dan has the highlights of Apple's release of brand new products, including a phone that now folds in half. Yeah, I know. Yeah, it's groundbreaking. Honestly, guys, it just, it was.
Starting point is 01:10:00 winds me up so much that people still drink the Kool-Aid with. I mean, I'm not even a Samsung like aficionado. I'm not like an ambassador of theirs. Every time I paid for a phone, it's just, I just find it mind-boggling that we're like, oh my God, a phone that folds, and it's been technology
Starting point is 01:10:17 for 10 years that Samsung have done. Like, why is it so big? Apple just does it better, don't they? Have they? Oh, I think they do. How much is it? Well, let's go through. So, put it this way, I won't be buying the flip phone from Apple. So, yeah, they've released a couple of new Apple watches
Starting point is 01:10:30 that's all fair enough. They've released two new iPhone pros. The interesting thing is they haven't released the base iPhone on this release. Which usually they do. Every September they release all the new iPhones. This year for some reason, they've just released the pros in the Pro Max and this new flip phone. And the prices keep going up. So I think the price of the new iPhone Pro, so not the Max, is $2,550 New Zealand, which three years ago was the price of a MacBook.
Starting point is 01:11:00 like laptop. Well, so what did, tell me why I want that phone then, Dad. Why do I want a phone that's worth 2,500? What does it do? I mean, the pro is famous for the camera. It's got one of the best cameras in the game of phones. But you could buy a DSLR camera for that. Yeah, you buy a beautiful DSLR camera for that.
Starting point is 01:11:21 So also the iPhone Pro Max, which is just the bigger version of that, that is now $2,750. Not much change for $3,000. But the shocking one that everybody is like, how is this even possible? When I think when iPhones first came out, there were $600. They have just released the iPhone Duo, which is an ultra-foldable phone. It's got a screen on the front. You can fold it out and then it becomes like a small iPad in the inside.
Starting point is 01:11:48 They are charging $4,200 New Zealand for a phone, essentially. Yeah, genuinely worth more than my car. So it doesn't fold down, it opens like a book? Yeah, so it's already, it looks like a small iPhone at the first. front with a beautiful screen, then you can then unfold it and it becomes like a big, I guess, small iPad. Samsung do it. They've done it for many years, but now Apple have done it.
Starting point is 01:12:12 And yeah, $4,200 for the base model of that. Yeah, Valeri just said you can buy three of Meg's cars. It's not that shit. I mean. Maybe two and a half. Maybe two and a half. Yeah. So anyway.
Starting point is 01:12:24 Wow, that's shocking. It's just amazing. And then what, it's just sad because what the pressure, that will be that people have to have it and earn that and get that, that means they're going to be going to afterpay or putting money on credit cards or debt just to have this thing. I mean, it's just, it is crazy that we've come so far with the cost of phones. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:43 That we're now paying $4,000 for it. It is essentially a phone, isn't it? Obviously, you've got the internet, it's a smartphone, but. And it's just to watch things and to be sucked into your phone more and more, right? I mean, I'm trying to get away from my phone, if anything. Devil's advocate, though. Go on.
