Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Edge breakfast. Good morning Monday, one to six. Dusty this morning. Hi you. Not dusty. Oh, I thought you're a little tired. Not dusty.
Starting point is 00:00:18 I didn't drink last night, but I did go to MKTO. I love that. Oh, I drink a lot on Saturday. NKTO, how were they? Everything you hoped for? They were great. The venue and the sound was a bit shit. Are you joking, really?
Starting point is 00:00:34 The venue and the studio sucks. I'll say it. Oh, is it the studio? Oh, is it the venue. So why is it bad? It holds like a thousand people, but really it holds probably like six or seven hundred. And then you kind of get funneled through this like doorway, this large doorway. And we're all like watching it through this gap.
Starting point is 00:00:50 And so the sound can't get out there. I was like, if your venue. If you're like watching it in the foyer. Try it. Kind of. Yeah. And it's like if your venue can't give everyone a decent view or experience, well then don't put that many people in a venue. No, because they've helped.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Star station does smaller gigs and they've always been good. The Power Station would have been great. I think the Power Station's too big for MKTO, unfortunately. Shut up. Oh God. What was it for your song? I love this one. American Dream was my favourite.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Winston even stayed all the end. He said that he left. I left a 10 Meg. I'm still going. Yeah. I think we've done that in the past, but we've gone to maybe three when it was five, but only three of them showed up.
Starting point is 00:01:27 And we were like, we can't stage until the end. They go late these old-school 90s bands. What is it? A rough weekend for Clint. The Warriors lost. MKTO sucked. And then his football team, who he missed his game, won. Yeah, they won.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Well, that was great, but I wasn't there to celebrate with the boys. Because he was at the Warriors that lost. The Edge is the home of Clint Macendam. I went to a really cool festival for the Auckland area. It's called the Fairy and Pirate Festival. Brilliant. If you'd have given me three guesses, I reckon I would have got there. Yeah, well, I think I would have either got ferry and nor pirate.
Starting point is 00:02:03 But not by a mix. Now that is one hell of a festival. It's a hell of a festival. I've gone through the past few years. But there was this, and I want to really reiterate, I think it's awesome that this free event is put on for children, because that's what it is, right? And the kids loved it.
Starting point is 00:02:19 I cried most of the time. No surprise there. Seeing my daughters get really excited to see their favorite characters walking this parade. What characters do you have outside of hook? No, they did fairy. Yeah, no, they did. they did the Mad Hatter was there
Starting point is 00:02:35 Oh no not at the Fairy Pirate Festival They aren't fin it to either Fairy or Pirates Spider-Man was there Spider-Man was there Oh no wait where does he go I'd say fairy because he bounces And swings around a lot They had to put him somewhere
Starting point is 00:02:48 I think he used to be at the superhero festival No Batman was also there Jesus But let me say Batman Fairy As I say And I want to read a day I don't want to
Starting point is 00:02:58 I don't want to Shit on the Fairy parade Yeah I don't Because I really In the end it is a free festival, the kids loved it, but as an adult, watching it, I was like, I reckon Cal from the day show fits the Spider-Man outfit better than the guy did. It was baggy, it was a very baggy Spider-Man outfit. Ariel had a full-sleeved tattoo and some facial piercings. Oh, I love that. I know. She was
Starting point is 00:03:20 awesome, but I was like, she was 12, Clint. That's, no, no, I was like, that's not real, Ariel. Well, she shouldn't have a sleep tattoo. Like, some of the Disney princesses were easily in their 40s to 50s. Like, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, Like, I don't know why the Manhattan was there. There were quite a few. Ursula was a drag queen. There was a lot. It was a lot going on.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I have a bone to pick with the Spider-Man people that make the costumes. Make them more fitting. It's all. Make them tight. I've never seen. And even the ones you spend like good money on. They're always too baggy. And no one ever looks like Spider-Man.
Starting point is 00:03:53 No, they're so baggy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it needs the built-in muscles. Yeah, it does. And tight. The expensive costumes will have the built-in shoulder pads. Yeah, but then you look too bulky. I think no one has the body for Spider-Man, unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Yeah, Benson Boone does try a lot. Yeah, but even he looks cringe. Have you noticed that recently how he's pretending to be Spider-Man on stage? Can he stopped it? Once I thought it was kind of cool, but it seems to be every night he's been Spider-Man now. Yeah, I've got the ick from Benson Boone, pretending to be Spider-Man. It's not ascent we thought would be sane, to be honest. You just Google it.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Just go on TikTok or Instagram and go Benson-Boon Spider-Man on stage. It's cringe as. Yeah, the parade was great, but I found myself truly going back from like in-between. I was crying. look at my kids and then I started laughing because I'd loaded the parade and I was like, what is this? It was just a cacophony of like
Starting point is 00:04:40 people, it honestly looked like they'd lined up and gone, all right, here's a costume for you and they're like, oh, I don't know if I could be Cinderella and it's like, you'll be in it. And did it cost? No, it was free exactly. Okay, well you get when you pay judge then, can you? I know, very happy. It's a great event.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Coming up for the Edge Fruit First. Was the tooth fairy there? No, Tinkybo was though. Tinkabow. She's a very busy woman. She's always hunting. It's probably quite fitting, talking about princesses and things and fairies. Do you judge guys riding passenger princess? This is so pathetic.
Starting point is 00:05:13 I can't believe we're doing this video. I think it's backwards. I think it's sexist. I think it's pathetic. It's not sexist because I did a bit of judgment on the weekend. And my wife agreed with me. And she's a woman. All right, we'll get into it.
Starting point is 00:05:26 She's sexist then. She can also be a sexist woman. No, she's a woman. Get your Clint McGreg and Dan Fex. The edge. It's Clint, Megan, Dan. And let's settle this. Let's settle this right now.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Now, before we've even started this, we've had a bit of negativity on the text machine from Brittany, classic Brit. It's not negativity at all. Go on, Dan. Now, I am, I will be honest, I think I'm in the wrong here. But I want people to be honest on the text machine and on the phones. Oh, 800 at the edge. Now, on the weekend, my wife and I met up with another couple.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Friends of Hanners, okay, because I don't have any friends, so most of my friends are Hanna. You don't need to. Yeah, you guys get divorced. You know you're going to have none. I've got no one. You guys are at. Okay. And so we met them just at a mall, and we parked near where they were parking as well. And I actually saw them turn up.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Here's the thing. When they arrived, she was driving, and he was in the passenger seat. What? And I said to Hannah, I said, huh, interesting, a little bit. That's terrible Now, hey, and in all fairness, I will agree. It's an interesting view to have, but I think it is a common view
Starting point is 00:06:45 that when the guy isn't driving, if they're in a couple, they're traveling together, they don't have kids or anything. So they're in the front seat, both in the front seat, the girl is driving. I just think it's unorthodox. It is interesting when your brain has an opinion on something
Starting point is 00:07:00 and you go, that's the minority opinion, but I still find myself holding it. And I just wanted to see if anybody else agreed. Now, Brittany, clearly you don't because you've sent me, you've sent a rather angry message saying back at you, Meg, stupid thing to be even debating. Oh, yeah. It's, um, I find it really, really pathetic.
Starting point is 00:07:21 The guy's sitting in the passenger seat. I agree. I think it's more masculine for a guy to not give a shit that is, like his girl is driving. No, the thing is, we know Hannah drives. I don't give it. Really? Because it sounds like you're worried you're a little bit.
Starting point is 00:07:34 No, no, it's just when I see other guys. Oh, but it doesn't apply to you. Like, for instance, if Clint arrived at work or something, we went out for dinner, and Clint arrived and Jamie was driving, I'd go, when he got out of the car, I go, little bitch! Oh my God, Dad, it's so bad. I will drive most of the time because my wife is always running late, wants to do her makeup in the car.
Starting point is 00:07:54 And if it's my car or her car, if it's her car, then I'm like, fine, she can drive her own car. She can drive her own car. Oh, God, thank goodness. But like last night. we went to MKTO and she drove and I just hopped in the passenger seat and it was cool. It was nice. You guys got on your phone?
Starting point is 00:08:10 I didn't need to find a park. What were you powdering your nose or something? I'm going to go into the pasture seat. Brittany, give it to them. Brittany, come on. Help me out. They had on me. I think Dan needs to get me to work story.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Well, I wasn't at work, Brittany. See you later. She's gone. I love you, Britney. Latia? Good morning. Good morning, Latia. Have I angered you as well?
Starting point is 00:08:34 No, I just think it's funny. I was just thinking about how often I drive, because I like driving. And quite often my boyfriend's in the passenger seat, but I've got what you consider like a boy racer car. So I've got a turbo MX5. And quite often men will look by and they'll give it a nod and then see the girls driving. And my boyfriend is in the passenger seat.
Starting point is 00:09:01 I think I would judge if a guy was driving an MX5. Sorry. Wait, do they have those headlights that pop up and look like eyes? The older ones, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I didn't see that on Boston Furious. Hey, hey, I had a car with pop-up headlights when I was in my youth. There's a Honda record.
Starting point is 00:09:17 And I tell you what, I have driven an MX5 before Lettia, and it is a fun car to drive. I think she means more like it's a cool car. Like, and you would stupidly expect demand driving it. Thank you. Like, you know, it makes a lot of power. Yeah, yeah. Now, look, I'm not saying it's a good view. I'm just saying if anybody agrees
Starting point is 00:09:35 me, it's a view where you go, oh, that's interesting to see. No, it's... Is it? You had gone back to the 50s. No, they don't, clearly. It's just you. People have texted saying, I agree with Dan. It's odd to see.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Thank you, Matt. And that's coming from a man. All right, just go to Mike. Mike, you actually don't like your wife being the passenger. Nah, it's too hard on my mental health. Just let it drive. She'll literally tell you.
Starting point is 00:10:02 on me a car is braking like 500 metres of head. Oh yeah, that is a nightmare. You're like, you do it. I can't be bothered. Okay, Mike, well, let's agree. If I ever see you driving, I won't judge you because I know the reasons.
Starting point is 00:10:15 There is reasons behind it. Thanks, Mike. Yeah. Hayden, you're right. Women not allowed to drive in 2026. No, not saying they're not allowed to drive. It's only when they're husbands with them. Next.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Coming up on the each breakfast. All right. Next, beware, lads. There is a bit of a prank going around that a lot of girls are getting into. So if you've got a partner and you guys like to eat out a lot, you need to beware of this one.
Starting point is 00:10:40 And coming up in Scandal, has Celine Dion still got it? Here her first performance in six years since her stiff person syndrome diagnosis. Clint Meg and Dan's Scandal. In Scandal this morning, Celine Dion is back. She has proved she still is the pipes
Starting point is 00:10:53 after her first night of her parish shows. So lovely about it is that you heard a little waver there, I think. Did you hear a joke? just before she went into the hideout. But I think it made it so authentic and so real because as soon as she stopped that note, she'd almost looked relieved, shocked, overwhelmed, she was crying.
Starting point is 00:11:27 I mean, and it also goes to show she could have easily... This is no. She could have easily come back, like a lot of big stars do, and lip synced her way all the way through it, but she did it live. And her voice has changed, but still incredible. Beautiful. And St. West, Kim and Kanye's 10-year-old son,
Starting point is 00:11:46 I thought you guys were like this, was recently filmed, speaking to a story. streamer, his name is Big X, and the streamer was like walking through what it almost looked like, when rugby guys run out of the stadium, one of those, like a tunnel. I don't know if it was a stadium where it was at. And St. West, a little 10-year-old with little green hair with his little nerdy looking friends, which is, they're all like 10-year-old boys.
Starting point is 00:12:06 As the streamers walking past and getting filmed for his own channel, you see St. West go, I bet I'm more famous than you. You're probably all more famous than you. I'm a question. I'm a question. I'm sorry, excuse us. I haven't followed you. I have like probably across all platforms like 1.2 million. Come on. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:12:25 So let me. So he said, I'm better, more famous than he goes. You probably are. He didn't ask who he was. Don't know if he recognized him. Then he said, how many followers do you have? And then when he said 1.2, he goes, that's light. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:12:39 That kid's going to be a nightmare. In Auckland. Edge. The edge. Imagine when he's in his 20s. Is that wild? Imagine being his high school teacher. You're not going to be able to do anything.
Starting point is 00:12:52 My God. Nightmare. And he's only 10, so he's only going to get worse. Clint McGinn, Dan. Edge Breakfast. The Edge. All right, lads, you need to be aware of a mean girlfriend prank that seems to be happening and going around the internet.
Starting point is 00:13:07 And if your girlfriend sees it, she might do it on you when you're out for dinner. I have been doing this often. It works a treat. Oh, you do it on your husband? I've been doing this for months to him. In fact, to the point that he doesn't like taking me out anymore. I do it every time. again. Is that why?
Starting point is 00:13:19 Now my kids, when we're out, will ask me for permission if they can have something and that's fine because I'm their dad. But when your girlfriend... Is that why Ty was having a beer the other day? Not alcoholism. It was a yes day. When your girlfriend turns to you and says, could I please have the fries,
Starting point is 00:13:35 it does insinuate that you're in charge of what she can and can't eat. Can I get fries instead of salad? Can she get the large fries? Can I get a box? Can I get a bottle? Yeah? You can always get fries.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Wait, am I allowed to eat today? Ah. Why do you mean I yell at that? Do I have to get a salad? Can I get something else? I promise I do not. Cheats. That's why that's something.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Oh, so you do it in front of the cashier person. Yeah, you do in front of the waiter when they're coming up to take your order, and then you ask if you can have something that is usually, like, fatty or high calorie. And the guy, and the guy dies in front of the waiter. Oh, yes. Just like, no, no. I don't know what she's doing. The other good thing to do is when your partner goes on their phone,
Starting point is 00:14:22 whether it's to talk to the babysitter or check on something legit, then when they're on their phone, you look around the restaurant and slowly reach your hand towards theirs and look sad. So it looks like that your partner is just when... You know what, gas laden? Have you did that to me? If I was Guy and you see, can I have fries today? I would call your pluff and go, no.
Starting point is 00:14:37 I'd be gutted. I'd be gutted. No, she's already had three lots of fries today and not have the fourth. That'll be your fourth for the day. All right, noughty-6. Meg, you missed this. There was a conversation going down between producer Carl and Dan in the car park. And I was away from the conversation, but I heard it.
Starting point is 00:14:57 And I'm just going to give you the dialogue next. And you tell me what you think the two boys were doing. Now, Meg, you need to remember, and you're listening as well, this is going to paint Clint in a terrible, very bad light. I'm just literally going to give you the facts, Meg, and you decide what you think these two boys were doing. You're going to come across very immature. It's the edge.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Listen, live weekday. from six on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Go it's The Edge, Clint Biggin' Dan. It's time to get naughty at 640. What's our Dan been up to? I don't want to lead the witness, but I heard a conversation between Dan and producer Carl and I was out of my car.
Starting point is 00:15:37 I couldn't see what they were doing. And I was going around to the other side of my car to get my gym bag and stuff. And I'm hearing this confidence, I'm like, what are these two up to? I will say this. quite often Carl and I will rendezvous in the mornings before the show to do this particular thing in the car park, don't we, Carl? Yeah, we meet her specifically earlier.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Well, I just hear Carl say, oh wow, can I see yours? And then Dan goes, oh, that's not as big as I thought. No, sorry, dang goes, can I see yours? And Carl goes, oh, that's not as big as I thought. It looked bigger online. And then Dan goes, yeah, it's only like three inches.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Which I would say is quite big. So I'm like, what of these guys up to? And then Carl goes, cool. It's pretty compact, but it goes for ages. Amen, brother. What were they doing? I reckon you can in one guess say what we're talking about because you're not immature like Clint.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Oh no, I know what it sounds like, but I also know these boys like playing with their little car toys. They're big cars. They're like back. Producer. to Carl? You also missed the part where I said, oh, it's actually,
Starting point is 00:16:49 it's darker than you mentioned. Yeah, yeah, you did say that. Yeah. I need to get that check. Can I see yours? Well, it's not as big as I thought. And I go, yeah, well, it's like three inches. Pretty compact, but it goes for ages.
Starting point is 00:17:04 What were they doing? Everybody knows. I like remote control cars, and so does Carl. And we bonded over that. You meet at five in the morning in the dark. Yeah, and then sometimes, we've played, we've finished playing with the cars. me a blowjob.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Daniel. That's naughty. Your favourite radio show? It's podcast for. Edge breakfast. Clint Meggin Dan. Edge. It's flat idle. Voting closes actually in 10 minutes. 7 o'clock this morning.
Starting point is 00:17:34 So if you haven't voted, this would be your last chance. Flat to 3343. You know, I wasn't holding out high hopes for this segment when we first started doing it because it's just random people making songs. But they've been incredible, eh? Yeah, they're great. So great. If we do a quick little recap on Monday, we had White Palace.
Starting point is 00:17:50 A crew, John Summit, mate, she's coming for you. They call us wash, but we prefer veterans. Four years, clear, still teaching the freshmen. Tell us to retire, but we're not done yet. Last R.M. I actually do like it. A lot of others do as well. But then heavy use of AI.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Good script writing, though. Is the AI element going to hinder them? I guess we'll see. Probably enough of that. And then flat notes were flat number three. Friday night and half. Hamilton, what are we going to do? Same old streets, same old boss, same old blood and you.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Instruments all played by flat members as well? That could be the Wiggles, and I wouldn't question it. Then we had the Chazette. A bit of like an R&B vibe. So good. And should we just finish it there? No, no, no, no, we've got to put the last one. Well, best to last.
Starting point is 00:18:52 The Chateau even said on Friday, Al's sucks. We probably shouldn't play Al's. We're like, no, no, no, no. How are they spelling Shato? With a C-H. Not an S. Al-wey-a-Len-Lewittles and Matty. Into the Shato is meant to be my family.
Starting point is 00:19:14 When we cook you hope you don't. Right. It's almost like they didn't want to win. Text the word flat to 3-3-4-3 to vote for your favourite because it's up to you in the end of who gets the six tickets in the accommodation to R&V. I mean, the Shato could get a lot of sympathy votes. I mean, a vote is a vote, whether it's for sympathy or not.
Starting point is 00:19:31 That's what I was about to say. It could be like dancing with the stars, where it doesn't actually matter how good your dance was. It's about the popularity, in it? People will vote for the one that hits the deck and falls over because they feel bad for them and they end up getting more votes than anyone. Yeah, maybe.
Starting point is 00:19:44 This is still a bit raw for you, Clint? All right, 8 a.m. Or just after, about 10 past 8 this morning, we'll announce the winner, because they'll take away six tickets to R&V, their entire flight gone. accommodation, VIP, vintage club upgrade as well. It's like the proper R&V experience, really, in that. Hell of a prize, so if you want to help out a flight, do you know,
Starting point is 00:20:04 or you just want to be a kind stranger. It takes flat to 3343. You've got until 7 o'clock this morning, till we get into easy money before voting stops. Zara laughing. Midnight Sun, 7 to 7, Clitman, Easy Money. Five minutes away, your cue to call. Very soon on the edge.
Starting point is 00:20:25 This is the Clint Meg and Dan. I want to hear the guys off air in him Little Luser. Listen and watch their OTHinkers podcast. Give us a call 0800 Edge. What would you spend $1,000 on right now if you've got that money dropped into your bank account tax free? Jetsky.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Well, that's a cheap Jetsky. Second handle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. If you can't get through on the phones, you can always fire us a text 33443 as well. And if you want to go to Bruno Mars for free, this is how you do it. It's super easy this week. We've got your chance to get along to the romantic tour at Eden Park. three shows March 13, 14th and 16th.
Starting point is 00:21:01 You just have to listen out for two Bruno Mars songs playing back to back. How incredible. Every time Bruno plays, you listen out for a second one back to back. And if you're the first caller through on No 800 there, you're gone for free. There's a few concerts happening at Eden Park over the next few months. Robbie Williams is playing there as well? Is he? I saw when we were last there for something,
Starting point is 00:21:19 we were doing some throwing off the top of Eden Park. They were painting a mural of Robbie Williams in the back alley of Eden Park. Oh, cool. So I wonder if they'll do a Bruno one there as well. What a cool job to know that, like, you'd just be hired as the mural person for whenever a big celebrity comes. Super talented, too, because I saw the video of that guy, and he reckons it takes like a week. Yeah. Just using spray cans and that.
Starting point is 00:21:39 It's unbelievable. Because you'd have to, like, focus on, like, a very small area, but have the big picture in mind? Yeah. It's really talented. Yeah. All right, would you spend a thousand bucks on? Or maybe you had a big expensive weekend. And, yeah, you need the money to go back into the bank account.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Hmm. Cass from Wellington What are you spending a thousand bucks on? Good morning I had two options A sensible option or the fun option Okay give us the fun option Because the sensible ones
Starting point is 00:22:09 Boring Boring We're going to Fiji at the end of the year So it's a surprise for the kids And so put it towards that Or the sensible option Is to put it towards my costs Of going to O Week
Starting point is 00:22:22 in Dunedin next year When I start Midwittery Oh I don't want to boo. Boone. I'm doing to boo that. But like go to Fiji and have some maths. Just before you start studying.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Yeah, good idea. Okay. And the cocktails are expensive there. But happier, then they do a bucket of four coronas. 42 bucks. The fact that you know that, Clint, is alarming. All right. What about you, Jonathan?
Starting point is 00:22:46 What would you blow a thousand dollars on? I've got a wedding coming up. So stag do. I'll blow it on a thousand dollar bottle of whiskey for the boys. Wow. Oh, now we're talking. $1,000 bottle. No money left over for the stripper.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Why don't you get a $500 bottle of whiskey and then get a really high-end stripper? $500 strip. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe in lower-huh. All right. Producer Carl, you can decide, mate, and we'll give someone a crack it at 90 seconds. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:23:22 $1,000 on the line. Let's play. Easy money. Bang on 7 o'clock. The letter today is why. Give us 10 answers and 30 seconds. The thousand bucks is yours. You can pass.
Starting point is 00:23:33 If we've got time, we'll come back, but you can't give us the same answer twice. Now Meg, we did try this off here, right? Because Y on face value seems hard. Yeah, it does. This is an easier one. One of the easier ones. Yeah, you guys got this pretty well.
Starting point is 00:23:45 Let's hope that Cass can do the same. All right, Cass, ready to play with the Y? I'm so ready. Oh, my God, I'm so nervous. You can do this, Cass. Let's get you to Fiji. Okay. Give me a girl's name.
Starting point is 00:23:58 Yolanda. Something you buy at a supermarket. Yogurt. A type of exercise. Pass. Something you do it with your mouth. Yon. A brand.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Uh, uh, pass. A TV show. Oh my God. Yesterday. A song title. A song title. Yeah. Oh my God, I've lost the plot.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Oh, no. Yes. Oh, baga. of exercise. There's only one of them it's yoga and you just said yoghut. I was like, you'll get that. You'll get that. You'll get that one. Damn.
Starting point is 00:24:41 I'm so sorry, Cass. That's okay. We'll go to Fiji anyway. You'll just have to use your own money. It's always better when it's free. I guess it won't be. Oh well, back again at 8 o'clock. Also, a big concert announcement as well at 8 that will let you on right after easy money in an hour's time.
Starting point is 00:25:00 I was really gutted when I saw this out. over the weekend. I was genuinely angry and upset for the people that have put so much time and effort into this happening for all to go tits up so quickly. Yeah. You know? You don't even if you're going to be disaster on a grand opening of anything?
Starting point is 00:25:16 Especially when it's in Auckland and people are all going out of the bloody Auckland is, eh? How long have you been waiting now for the opening? Oh, like years? Yeah. Five years at least? All right. Clint McAnd Dan. Edge Breakfast. The Edge Breakfast.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Broad 2 by Trade Me Property. crack the daily clue which we will have for you in about 20 minutes and if we find their hidden listing on Trade Me property and add it to your watch list you could be into an 100,000 bucks this is the last week of clues by the way huge day for Auckland yesterday the opening of the CRL the city rail link it's been years and years in the making cost of billions of dollars
Starting point is 00:25:50 and it was finally the big open day yesterday where people could catch the train in the city and go underground and it was supposed to bring New Zealand into the 21st century. Finally. And unfortunately, the opening was marred by a little bit of a fire in the central station in Auckland and it caused a whole load of delays.
Starting point is 00:26:13 It made me really gutted because obviously you can sit there'd be like, oh, useless and what went wrong. But I do feel for the people that would have been working on this for years, it's their whole career. And they finally have it, the launch day, and then this happens, and it's a joke. Yeah. It's so gutting.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Was it like a big fire, dangerous fire? or did they just like shut it down pretty quickly to be sad. I think it was so they didn't have a... A fairly minor fire, and I think shutting it down was probably the right thing to do because it could be worse, right?
Starting point is 00:26:38 You could have people injured. So I think they closed it down for good reason. But it's just one of those things where as soon as that happens, it brings the critics out going, oh, you know. But today's apparently the first day of it being, obviously, people actually going to work this morning
Starting point is 00:26:52 because it opened yesterday just for a bit of a trial run. But today's the real day. And so far, I think it's gone off without a hitch. I mean, we're nearly ten, past seven, and seems to be everything's running to plan so far, but it was marred yesterday with the fire. Yeah, okay, if you're actually jumping on, or you're on currently, or hopping off, maybe
Starting point is 00:27:10 let us know. Yeah. Let us know how it's going. And it has it made your commute quicker to work? Because I love when, like, this massive part of, like, a motorway or something opens, and you're like, I remember I was the first to drive on, like, some brand new motorway that had been three years in the making, we're all driving down it. Like, it was just the coolest thing ever.
Starting point is 00:27:26 We were just driving on a motorway, going through the tunnel. Little things in life that we have to get excited about Otherwise it's just mundane and boring, is that? Yep. Yeah, what spoiled the party? What was the thing that happened at your... Maybe it was the 21st, maybe it was a wedding, maybe it was a bitmitsa, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:27:43 But what sort of like stole the focus like yesterday with the fire? A lot of time and money generally going into the opening or any big celebration. And it was marred by something. And everybody would have been like people that put the design into it, did the tarneling, everything would have been going, oh God, just a small... fire it's ruined the big opening day.
Starting point is 00:28:00 You go, who was the electrician on that job? Yeah, no good. Yeah. So maybe you had your 21st and your auntie got too drunk and set a speech and embarrassed you. Maybe it was your wedding and someone, you stood in dog poo when you're in your wedding dress.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I don't know. I had a friend do that. I can't, honestly God, I'm trying to remember what the party was, but I know it had nothing to do with her. And she just got up and started talking about her divorce. Oh, God. And she started talking about the divorce and about her ex-husband. And it was like, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:28:29 tell she was wasted. It was like, somebody just go and take the mic off her now. I've been to a wedding like that and the speech went on for about 17 minutes. I'm going to tackle them soon. It's the lesser to evils though, isn't it? You leave them because then if you go up and take the mic off, then it makes it more
Starting point is 00:28:45 awkward. Do you just let them keep going? They can go for 17 minutes. And then your friends starts talking about her second divorce. Which is true story. Well, the first one wasn't as bad as the second one. Oh my God. Get her off. Okay. Oh, 800.
Starting point is 00:28:59 edge. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax. We'd love to know what spoiled the party when a lot of time and effort goes into something and it just doesn't quite go according to plan for whatever reason. It's going to be hard to beat Louise's text. I was in an outdoor wedding last year and during the ceremony a stray dog ran in and started humping the mother-in-law's leg. Right.
Starting point is 00:29:17 You never know what to do in those situations, right? Because you're trying to push the dog off because it is embarrassing. Your dog used to always help me. I think you don't know what to do. Well, you definitely don't let it finish. Well, I think it's flatter. I'm not going to kick a dog. Your dog used to always help me and you go.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Yeah, he does that. Can you get him off? I think he did have a crush. Me? Well, if you leave him, Meg, he might do that himself. He definitely had a crush on you, Meg. He did, he was obsessed. All right, it's going to Emma.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Oh, I hand to the edge. Morning, Emma. Morning. So what, stop with this, a wedding? Yeah, so this was my wedding. My ex-uncle, he's pretty much dead to us now. My husband's to Valawan, and he walked up to me, and I was wearing, like, a T, T, thing.
Starting point is 00:29:59 And he ripped it off, looked me again, and I was like, is this disrespectful? So, as you can tell, it didn't go down very well. My dad had a tap to him. And he's like, no, I'm over this and walked out. And then my husband went to find him and was ready to knock him out. So thankfully, we haven't seen him in public, but I don't want to know what is going to happen if my husband does see him. What was it your dad's brother? How did you get an invite if he's this kind of person that is deeply racist?
Starting point is 00:30:29 So it's my dad's sister's husband. Oh, yeah, that's removed. So was alcohol involved, do you think? Yeah, definitely. I mean, he's like, yeah, no excuse. He's like richer than rich. Like he's just an a hole. Oh, did he at least get you a good present?
Starting point is 00:30:48 No. Oh, God. Oh, why was he there? Racist energy. At least get a cake mixer or something. Thanks, Emma. I was sorry about that happening on your wedding day. Hi, Susie.
Starting point is 00:30:59 Hi. Morning, Susie. What's... This is another wedding situation. Yes, it was. I was catering for a wedding, and the father of the bride stole money from the room's pocket.
Starting point is 00:31:13 And that was to pick up for the DJ, so they were looking for it. And basically we had to look at the cameras, and the bride was absolutely heartbroken because she saw her dad steal money. Dad's a pickpocketer. Oh, my God. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:31:28 The father of it. of the bride, stealing the money. He would have had to pay for a bit for the wedding, wouldn't he, as well? Usually that's what happens. Yeah, yeah. So he's like, I can just get my money back. He'll steal. We'll spill the party. Another wedding one. Meg, what are you doing in this situation? They said they were carrying out the three-tier wedding cake and they dropped it before it got to the table and it landed on the floor about
Starting point is 00:31:46 three metres short. You sit on the floor and you eat it up. That's what they did. They gave everyone, forks. Yum, yum-y, yum. We all just ate the top. Floor suck. Yeah, you're not wasting that, okay, that'd be thousands of dollars, three-tier. As soon as you put wedding in front of anything, the cake, the dress, it costs like double the price. I think that's a cool photo, though. You've got like 15 people around this cake that's all mushed on the floor and they're just eating it with a fork.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Not a very flattering angle, though, if you've got a corset or anything. You know, like you're probably not. Yeah. Hey, appreciate the text and feedback. Coming up on the each breakfast. I got a DM that is very, I think could be very, very special into my inbox on my Instagram. from somebody I don't know who I'm excited to hopefully meet and I'll read to you guys next
Starting point is 00:32:32 and it could involve you but you would have to probably be one of the most selfless people alive to do it. It's definitely not one of those things where someone goes, hey, could ask you a small favour? It's a big favour. It's a massive favour you could give. I hate doing favours for people. You couldn't do this, Dad's.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Yeah, it's alright. It's the biggest favour. That's not helping the move is it? Because that sucks. Worse than that. I am moving soon, hopefully. So can you help me? Don't DM me.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Take the edge of your. Your day with Clint Meg and Dan. All right, Meg's got an email asking for the, I think the biggest favour you could ask of anybody. But who knows? You listening, Mike, you know what? I can do that. All right, let me read a message that got sent to my DMs from a stranger. Hi, Meg.
Starting point is 00:33:13 I wasn't sure if I was going to do this or not, but here I am. My partner and I have been on a surrogacy journey for about five years now. The road has been tough, but ever so educational and we have learned so much. We have hit a bit of a roadblock. a surrogate. We have embryos thanks to an amazing egg donor. However, our journey with our potential surrogate came to a close after a year of counselling, medical and all other appointments. She has decided to not continue this path with us and we are now starting the process again. We are on multiple Facebook pages, websites and even recently signed up on dating apps to try and
Starting point is 00:33:50 find that special someone to fill the final piece to our puzzle, which leads me here to you. I've been a long time listener of The Edge and The Breakfast Show and you three are amazing. Would the team be willing to assist in getting our story out there to the listener far know and see whether anyone would be interested in insisting us in being our missing puzzle piece? Jamie. So Jamie and his partner are needing a surrogate. They have an egg and they have their sperm and they are trying desperately to see if there is any woman out there incredibly selflessly. willing or wanting to be a surrogate.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Dan, if you're a woman, would you? Amen. I definitely would, yeah. And here's the thing. And here's the thing. Oh, yeah, so easy to say. To give life is the greatest gift. Meg, you've always wanted a radio wars.
Starting point is 00:34:38 Oh, shut up, both of you. And you know what? What better way to win it that Meg Mansell becoming a surrogate. You must be like, wait, no, then you're going to be on Matley for another six weeks. No, she doesn't need Matt Leap because she gives the baby away at the end. Oh, you probably still need time to recover. Oh, a couple of days.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Real. Both of you are unreal. She can broadcast from home. Do you know the crazy thing with a surrogate as well? Because I remember we discussed this on here. I can't remember why. But what I didn't realize was if you obviously have your partner's egg and your sperm and somebody carries that baby for you,
Starting point is 00:35:12 legally they have the right, even though they say they're going to give it back, when the baby's born, they can legally keep the child if they change their mind after birth. Well, let's not put that into the fear of these people anyway. We're just trying to find a surrogate, trying to think about all the things that could go wrong.
Starting point is 00:35:27 I guess why if you're going through the whatever you said the counselling for a year, you can see how there's so many emotions and rules and laws involved that you really have to be trusting of the person who's going to do this. And it's, yeah, in a way they're looking after your baby before you even can with making sure you're eating the right, you know, not eat,
Starting point is 00:35:46 more likely not eating the wrong things or drinking or smoking. And I guess the breastfeeding and the colostrum and all that you'd be needed for that. Someone has text through saying, oh, well, was a surrogate, incredible work, and they did take Matt leave. So obviously, you do need it. Yeah, I did for a second when I was reading the message for the first time thinking they were going to ask me, which is interesting. I have thought about being a surrogate for a family member, and it's an incredible, like, thing to even think about with your whole family. My daughter, since my recent diagnosis that you guys have talked to you about,
Starting point is 00:36:17 isn't sure that I'd even be able to have kids again. So it's something that, you know, I don't think that, I think that doors unfortunately closed for me. Are we going to go on the hunt for someone to be the surrogate for this... Win a woo. I think so. Can we finally do win a womb? No, can we not? Can we not label it Winner Womb?
Starting point is 00:36:34 We've made intros and everything. Wacky intros. No, but I thought we could maybe talk about, talk to the person tomorrow, talk to Jamie. Maybe you could connect with them. In the end, maybe it would be how amazing it would be if we could just connect two people. Some people out there, the most incredible people, want that it's a dream of theirs to be a surrogate. How incredible is that? They want to be a surrogate for somebody and give that gift.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Logan's keen, he's texted. Some people really thrive and love being pregnant. And then others, it just doesn't go well for them. My wife said it was like being hung over every day for nine months. But then there are others that flourish. And one pregnancy could be amazing, and then you could have another one and it's the worst. So there's no guaranteeing, is it? Absolutely true.
Starting point is 00:37:18 There's a lot that you're putting on the line A for somebody else. But, I mean, one incredible legacy to leave behind if you're able to do. like give another couple a son or daughter. I genuinely, if someone did that, it is the most genuinely the most selfless thing I think anybody could ever do.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Yeah, I don't think you'd ever have the words or the means to be able to thank somebody for doing that. It was the guy who, the guy who reached out to you? Yeah. Can we get them on this week? Yeah. And at least have a bit of a chat and kind of see where they're at and, you know. Yeah. And if anybody's even interested, maybe just flick us a text 3343. I mean, Logan's already got his name
Starting point is 00:37:54 so preferably a woman. Yeah, ideally. But we're biggest company chooses. Coming up with Clint McGinn Dan. In Scandal, has Celine Dion still got it here? Her first performance since her stiff person syndrome diagnosis in concert. And what is Chris Rock begging for? It's coming up.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Clint McGinn Dan's scandal. Has Celine Dion still got it? Yes, she does. She is back and proves she still has her pipes. Oh, bye. Rock is begging for a number. Another sequel of his movies. I played Marty the Zebra in Madagascar, me, Ben Stiller and two other people.
Starting point is 00:38:45 It's probably the biggest movie I've ever been in. We did three of them. I pray to God we do one more. In a world where they're rebooting everything. Let's do Madagascar. I don't know who I'm talking to. God, so his movie's the only one's not getting a reboot. What a slap in the face.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Yeah, he went on to say afterwards, I didn't get it in the audio, but he went on to say, like, I've been through a divorce. I need the money. So he's desperate for another one. And what does Benny Blanco think you can do with no training? I'm convinced I can run a marathon tomorrow with zero training. My friends think I can't. I'm going to do it.
Starting point is 00:39:15 I can't believe I'm ready to make an end. Upday. We got a bag of sour patch. Let's go, let's go, let's go. Oh, my God! Western to my whole left. I wanted to get run. I thought I was going to.
Starting point is 00:39:30 No. No. Damn. Oh, yeah. He's proven something. Be in to win a blunt umbrella and $400 worth of well of hair care from Rodney Wayne. Text here to 33343. Just hits in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:39:45 The Edge. The Edge. Clint Meg and Dan. That reminds me at the time that all the guys were saying that they reckon they could land a plane if the pilot was unconscious. No training. I think you'd have to get talked through it. But I think most people could if they'd talk through it by air traffic control. Betty Blanco doesn't look like the kind of guy that's ultra-fit that you think could do that. But Clint, it reminded me of you.
Starting point is 00:40:07 You ran a half marathon thing. You could do it, just do it with no training, and you could? I ran half marathon on no training, and the thought of turning around when I finished and going back the other way would have killed me. There's no way. It's so hard. It's so hard to do. But I do love outrageous claims. Because you don't have to back it up necessarily, but do you have one?
Starting point is 00:40:26 The man did it. Yeah. I think it's always better when you do backing it. I reckon give me two weeks at altitude training. I can knock out Israel either side. You've said this before. You've said three weeks. Okay, I could definitely knock him out of three weeks.
Starting point is 00:40:40 Okay. I might end his life. Let's do some outrageous claims. What do you reckon you could do with no training? Land a plane, knockout Israel, Idesania, your FC champion. Obviously from behind, like he wouldn't know my hits coming. If you really think about it, right? Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:40:56 What do you reckon you could do with absolutely no training? What is your outrageous claim? Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint McGinn Dan. The Edge. Beni Valanco has done a little bit of an update. He just said on his Instagram, I bet I could run a marathon with no training to my friends.
Starting point is 00:41:12 He got up the next morning on Little Sleep, no food. He went and did it. He then said in the comments that I've just seen and said it was a half marathon. It's very different. If you're a runner, when people call a marathon a half and they don't specify, they go, oh, I'm training for a marathon. No, it's a half marathon.
Starting point is 00:41:28 It's very different. Yeah. I mean, I've done a half marathon, never done a marathon. No. And I was dead by the end of the half marathon. So doing one without training, a full marathon is crazy. But what do you think you can do it with no training? We've been thinking about it in the background with us.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Someone says that they're really good at gaming and they think they could transition into a real race car driver. And I was like, that reminds me of that movie Grand Tourismo. Wasn't that based on a true story? Yeah, that's the plot of Grand Turismo. They did a, I think, a competition, real-life competition where they had a whole load of gamers. And then the winner of the game race got to compete in a real-life race.
Starting point is 00:42:03 And actually did well? That's the thing, isn't it? I think anybody could buy a race car and go into a race. Whether you're any good is the question. Carl's trying to get somebody on, which I think has got a really good one. It's interesting. I couldn't do what this person is claiming they could do. I've actually been trying to think in the background that what could I possibly do?
Starting point is 00:42:24 With no training. I've been racking my brain. What does Meg's outrageous claim? I reckon you could go on that mastermind show over in the UK that's like a specialist topic. and sit in that chair and you would ace it with Lord of the Rings facts. Probably if it wasn't the books. I haven't read the books, but I've watched movies enough.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Maybe. Maybe. I was just movie-based. That's not as exciting. The biggest thing I've got is maybe I could solve a Rubik's Cube, but that's... I'll come up with one thing that I think you could do by the end of this break. Thank you, Clint. All right.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Have we got this person on, Carl? Oh, darn, I don't think we can get them. But they did say, hey, I reckon I could be a prime minister and literally fix everything. Everybody thinks that, though, don't they? Oh, I don't. Do you think that? No, but everybody goes, oh, if I had the power of what I'd do, you know. Oh, don't God, no.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Yeah. Someone says they reckon they could be a wedding celebrant that'd been to enough to really know what's going on. Once you've been ordained, I mean, the only legal bits you have to do is, I, first name, take you last name to be my husband, and then do it the other way around. Oh, you just married me and Dan now. Oh, my God, he's done. Someone else has said, I could give birth, easy. That's from Logan.
Starting point is 00:43:31 All right. I bet you couldn't, Logan. Let's get some technical stuff there. All right. Hi, Zara. Hi, guys. Good morning. Good morning, Zara.
Starting point is 00:43:39 What do you think you could do without any training whatsoever? I can play a piano without lessons. Also, I just was listening and I can solve a Rubik's Cube as well. Stop bragging about it. Okay, yeah, all right. All right, mate. So you've just called up and said that you can play the piano without any training and a Rubik's cube. Yeah, but play well.
Starting point is 00:44:00 I mean, are you just doing chopsticks? We can all do chopsticks. Okay. Okay? So what are you playing, Zah? Are you paying like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony? Yeah, can you listen to a song and then play it? Um, well, I don't know if, like, YouTube's to roll account,
Starting point is 00:44:16 but I play, like, Beethoven's silence. There's a song called Mary Hodge-Demore that I like to play. Oh, well, there you go. All right, that's all right. Send it through to us. Yeah. She's just called up to bring. That's what we asked her to do.
Starting point is 00:44:30 True. No, no, we ask what do you think you're. could do. She's like, I can actually do it. Yeah. We want outrageous claim that you haven't had to back up yet.
Starting point is 00:44:39 We want a people I could land a plane. One for you, maybe, Meg. Do you reckon you could go like one full show without bullying Dan and I? No. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Yeah. Too hard. She does it a lot, doesn't she? And you should hear when it's off here. The stuff she says to Clint. I'm surprised he's still so arrogant and cocky. I try. I try every day.
Starting point is 00:44:59 She tries out. Please keep trying. All right. Trade me property this week. giving you the chance to score $100,000. Meg's got the latest clue. It might help you get there. We'll give it to you in three minutes.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Edge Breakfast, Clint McG and Dan. Dan has been told again that he looks like a specific male celebrity. Here's the thing, because we remember there was that guy that everybody was saying I looked like that. Peter Noon. Pete Noon. Oh, if you Google Peter Noon. He looks just like Peter Noon. In fact, he gives Peter Noon in my phone.
Starting point is 00:45:27 If you Google Peter. Yeah, he is. I'm mine too. Prodice a car? Yeah, if you text Noon to 3. three, three, four, three, it'll bounce back. I mean, I know we're going off to that, but it really is absolutely uncanny.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Oh my God, yeah, you're showing me again. It looks like you're showing me Dan's dad. Peter Noon. I'll even admit I look a bit like him. Give me 30 years. I reckon I'll be Peter Noon. 15. I'll piss off, Clinton.
Starting point is 00:45:51 Yeah, okay. So it's not Peter Noon that you've been liking to. No, and it's a little bit more flattering, but sort of. So I've posted a couple of things recently that are getting a lot of attention overseas. People that don't know me from New Zealand Americans are commenting And a lot of Australians as well And a lot of the Australian people are saying
Starting point is 00:46:11 Is that Pete Evans? Another Pete Evans from My Kitchen Rules, remember? He was on it like a few years ago The Aussie one? Yeah, there was the French guy And then the other dude So it was Pete Manu
Starting point is 00:46:24 Yeah And then Pete left because he was a little He got sort of semi-canceled Because he became like a bit of a flat earth type guy Conspiracy theorist. But I can see it, Dan. I'm looking at Pete Evans now, and yeah, you do look very similar.
Starting point is 00:46:38 What do you think, Clint? I think of Pete Evans and Peter Noon had a baby. Oh, piss off. For you, mate. People are texting Noon now. Honestly, God, if you text our show for one thing, text noon to 3343. You will die. But, yeah, Pete Evans, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Oh, and under the edge, you can text through 33443. What is the celebrity that you always get mistaken for? People will at least go, God, you're the spitting image of. Rachel Morning. Good morning. How are you getting? How are you? Yeah, good.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Now, is this a flattering one or not so much? Oh, Christina Applegate. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, that's flattering. From Anchorman. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Yeah. Yeah. Oh, and do you... You'd be happy with that. Do you think you look anything like her? Oh, I get stopped on the street. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:26 Yeah. Wait, is this like that lover's blind episode where they were talking through the glass. We don't know the premise. They don't get to see each other until they propose. And she said that I get told I look like Megan Fox a lot. So guess what? He chooses her and then at the end he's like, Megan Fox, really? Oh God, the internet rusted her
Starting point is 00:47:46 as well. You better not say anything, gay. No. Okay, well we're happy to have a Christina Applegate listening to our show. Yeah, that's great. We'll change your name to Christina. And Mel, who do you look like? I'm not sure that I do, but I've been asked a couple the times if I'm Amanda Seafred.
Starting point is 00:48:04 You're on the housema, ma'am. From Mama Mia as well. She's stunning. Oh my goodness. God. And do you get like, Rachel, do you get mistaken on the street or is it just people saying, oh, you look a bit like her? No, I have had it once on the street in Auckland and once actually in Bali.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Wow. I've had someone come and ask me. Wow. Okay. If someone's actually coming up to you and asking you if you are the celebrity, that's good. I mean, how often do you get Peter Noon a week? Honestly, Clinton, never. And people need to stop texting.
Starting point is 00:48:32 through noon, okay? And the person that takes through nude, you're not getting nudes of me. Okay? Oh. Producer, Carl. I've got something for this. So I've actually got to put your guys faces into one of it. You know those apps that's like a celebrity look alike?
Starting point is 00:48:45 Who do I look like thing? And I've got a couple of printouts here. You want to see who they are next? Oh, if I get Peter Noon. Honestly, you're getting fired, Carl. Oh, I don't know if I want to think. Yeah, go ahead. Is Noon and Dan's top three?
Starting point is 00:49:00 Um, could be. It could be. You've got a surprising one, actually. This is going to be good. The Edge is the home of Clint McGinn Dan. The Edge. Right. Producer Carl's being screwing away behind the scenes
Starting point is 00:49:11 because Dan gets told he looks like the dude from My Kitchen Rules, one of the judges. Which one? Pete Evans. Pete Evans, the one that's now but crazy and it's sort of been semi-canceled in a way. But actually, Dan does look more, I think, like Peter Noon, if you want to find out what he looks like because you might not know him.
Starting point is 00:49:25 He's like a singer. And did a bit of radio too, didn't he? He did, he did. He still doing it. He's still doing it. He's still doing it. He's still doing it. saying only the old photos of Peter Noon, not the younger ones.
Starting point is 00:49:35 It's amazing the crossover, mate. You two are living in the same life looking exactly the same. Honestly, I just constantly get bullied on the show. It's just a constant bullying. Honestly, I'm so sick of it. Well, we'll find out who's about to get bullied because Jessica has put our faces into some app that has given us what the top three celebrities that we look most like. Yeah, top three.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Okay, and it's quite good. So I just, I went on to Google. I found the number one picture of each of you guys that came up first and I put that into the ad. Oh God, what's that photo of us? Okay, let's see. Okay, so we're going to go through Clint first. Here you go, guys.
Starting point is 00:50:09 Here's the sheet. Clint, I'm going to give you one after. Oh, yeah. First one, Richard Hammond. It says it. So Richard Hammond is from, what is it? Top gear. Yeah, top gear.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Eyes, compact face and grin, surprisingly similar. Give Richard a tan and a head of blonde hair and you've got some siblings. Chris Pine, it says, was the other lookalike. Of course he gets, like, Chris Pine. I think you look like. He looked like the guy from The Hobbit. Baird.
Starting point is 00:50:33 Gimley. Okay, sorry. No, no. Gimley. It says the eyes, the eyebrows, the smile and a strong, slightly rounded jaw are very similar. The surprising one for Clint, though. Ash Kitcham from Pokemon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Yeah. Both are fairly narrow, expressive eyes with a slightly mischievous, cheerful look. It's actually not bad. I will say, you know what? He's just got off Scott for a yet again, hasn't he? Yet again. No, I think you look like Luke Evans, to be fair. But I think Adichichim, it's quite cool that you could play him.
Starting point is 00:51:04 I mean, you're, what, 45 or something? One. Okay, Meg. This is you now. This is who I get. Okay, Meg, you're number one. Zoe D. Chanel, but without a fringe. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:18 I can kind of see it, especially with the rounded eyes. Yeah, big eyebrows, dark hair. The resemblance comes much stronger with a slightly more playful expression. Okay, okay. I think you'll like this one. Anne Hathaway. Probably one of the strongest Happy with that, happy with that
Starting point is 00:51:33 Beautiful women in the world Now the surprising one for you Thank you I think this Pretty strong Steve Karel He's got sexist man alive I'll take that
Starting point is 00:51:46 I'll have that When he got sexiest men didn't he? No I don't think he has ever won it Great So even though Steve Krell You're still a sexy man Congratulations to me The eyes and the smile are doing most of the work
Starting point is 00:51:59 it's his hair. It's a sort of comparison that no one wants to hear, but it is what it is. You know what? It's so funny. Every time I look at you, I go, who do you look like? And I kick myself. Now I know. Really? Okay. Meg, can you please pass that over to Clint? And this is your one as well. Okay, so we're going to hate that. All right. Dan Webby.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Hey, get that. You don't have a hate that. Can you just get that? Drumroll ready again. Dan Webby. Why am I always the butt of the joke? Looks like a young Gordon Ramsey. Now, I didn't see this at first, but then on doing some extra googling. I kind of get it. The eyebrows, the jawline,
Starting point is 00:52:33 square head shape are surprisingly close. Okay. Yeah. And it says here upon deeper research, they have a similar temperament. Yeah. The next one is probably my favourite car. Alan's degenerous. I knew there'd be a lesbian in there. Yes.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Yeah. Similar, relatively narrow, bright eye shape, particularly when smiling. Both have a very broad toothy smile. They also both have homosexual tendencies and like horses. Oh, piss off. I'm married with a wife and kid.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Oh, everyone's on the scale somewhere, Dad. And now the last one. Oh, God, let me guess. Here it is. Now, the app originally missed this one out, so I put it in and I put in a picture of Peter Noon and it came back, error, this is the same person.
Starting point is 00:53:21 Oh, piss off. You know what? Sometimes you've just got to let this sort of stuff wash over it. Oh, so you can text Noon to 3343 if you want to see that. The app would do the lesbians thing. Honestly, I get it on. Honestly, I get top twins.
Starting point is 00:53:33 Karen O'Leary, that other lady, from the show, from the TV. I'm from Patty Gale has a shoe. Yeah, which they're all lovely looking. But I'm a man. You're related. Jesus Christ. Honestly, you've got to text Noon to 3343
Starting point is 00:53:47 if you text this show once. It should be for that. I'm deleting the Noon. Bounceback. He doesn't know. How do I do that? Easy Money next. A thousand bucks could be going into your bank account in 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:53:58 It's a $1.2 million hourly rate. It is worth your time. 0,800, the edge. We will play next. I won't be here. Easy money. Clint. Time.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Are you ready, Bergen? And Dan. Oh my God. Easy money. Here we go, one past eight on your Monday. If you had an expensive weekend, let's get a thousand bucks into your bank account. Ten answers in 30 seconds will do it. You can pass.
Starting point is 00:54:21 If we've got time, we'll come back to it. But you can't give us the same answer twice. All right, Trevor, we'll put it on the pokey's. Treve. Your letter this morning is Al. Okay. All right, let's kick it in the guts, Trev. Let's do this. All right.
Starting point is 00:54:36 Time starts at the end of Meg asking your first question. Give me a body part. A leg. A name. Lila. An animal. Limer. A breed of dog.
Starting point is 00:54:52 I don't know. Labrador. A place you swim. Lake. A flower. Lily. A TV show? Pass.
Starting point is 00:55:04 An exercise. Leg left. A car brand. A Lamborghini. A sports star. Sports star was number 10! Damn, Treve. But I missed one.
Starting point is 00:55:18 That was really good. Really good effort you passed on a TV show. You could have got Law & Order Love Island Little Britain. Wow. We have the arts in front of us. Treve, who would you have said for a sports star? Oh, man. Gosh, trying to think of someone at the present.
Starting point is 00:55:34 Of course, my brain is foggy eyes. Yeah. We had LeBron James, Lionel Mesey or Lewis Hamilton as our three big owls. Of course. But, yeah, wow, what a great play. Yeah, it was really good. Especially because he took a couple of seconds to answer a couple of those questions. So if he didn't have that...
Starting point is 00:55:50 All right, we've been holding out until now. The Edge is stoked to support Flight of the Concord. Live tour. It's business time. I know what you're trying. I'm trying to say it's time for business It's business time. It's a fan.
Starting point is 00:56:07 You're a big fan. Five shows taking place in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch between this November. And we've got your chance to head along. Just call us on 0800 the Edge. And we could so you out with the dull class. Nice and easy. No big hoots.
Starting point is 00:56:20 It's been a while since they've toured as Flight of the Concordes. So this is exciting. Yeah. So pre-sale sign-up is open now and ends midnight tonight. And then the general tickets will go and sell. 1 p.m. this Friday. I wonder if Murray's coming along. Oh, surely. If you're saying Flight of the Concord, he'll make it.
Starting point is 00:56:37 Sure. He's my play. It's just so clever, eh? One of the first, like, big international exports for New Zealand, eh? And just joyful. Right? We will give way a double pass next, and then we need to address the elephant in the room. Get your Clint McGinn to and Dan Fix.
Starting point is 00:57:01 Edge. Just announced that Flight of the Concordes are doing a live tour in November, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. And going for free is Becky. Congratulations, Becky. Wow, you're so welcome. You're so welcome. I mean, I'm really excited for it.
Starting point is 00:57:22 I think that'll be a hell of a good time. Yeah, and Meg's husband guy is already messaging me going, all right, we need to go to that. Yeah, yeah, he's keen as to go ahead. They do such a good show. Just joyful, eh? Just really fun. All right, well, Becky, you will be there.
Starting point is 00:57:34 You've got the first tickets, okay? Thank you so much. You're welcome. You're welcome. I love a thankful winner. We love a screen. Yeah, and if you missed it at 1 o'clock Friday, general tickets will go on sale. Clint Megan Dan's
Starting point is 00:57:47 New Zealand Warriors Okay Putting together a team of Warriors That are worried they might jinx the Warriors We want to put them underground in a bunker So that they don't jinx the boys Dan's the captain Well here's the thing
Starting point is 00:58:02 I admitted last week That every time I watch a game A Warriors game Because I've just got on the bandwagon this year Love the team Brought the merch I just can't watch a game Because every time I watch it
Starting point is 00:58:12 They lose And so on Friday I said I would not watch the game. I've watched most of the games. In fact, every game I've watched, they've lost. On Saturday night, I made sure that I was completely away from the game. I knew it was on. I was sitting on the couch watching anything else.
Starting point is 00:58:34 I was itching. I was like, wasn't even checking the score because I didn't want to look at the score just on stuff or whatever. I looked at my watch. This is going well so far, Clint. This is what you meant to be doing. What you said you were going to do. I was trying to distract myself doing anything else.
Starting point is 00:58:49 And then it got to the point where I was like, it's probably half time now. Okay, so that would have been 12-8 warriors were up by four. I flipped on the tally. I would say, look, I reckon it was less than two minutes. I want to say 90 seconds. It was still, they were just about to kick off. I looked at the score.
Starting point is 00:59:11 It was 12-8. We were leading by four. I was like, brilliant. Turned it off again. Okay. So wait. I started watching the second half when the Warriors didn't score a single try in the second half
Starting point is 00:59:23 and we got scored on three times. I turned it on! And lost the first game where we had been leading at half time. When we were leading at half time, the Warriors haven't lost a single game all year. There was the first time we've lost the game when leading at half time. I also saw that you googled that Clint,
Starting point is 00:59:40 which you're never meant to do, and then you posted about it. You're a jigs. You might be a jigs, my friends. Dan's the one that turned the TV on in the second. enough when we were leading when you know you're a jinx. I know and I look I regret it. I deeply regret it
Starting point is 00:59:54 and I want to apologise to every Warriors fan I don't think necessarily I was the reason they lost but maybe I could be so this is more important than ever this weekend I think the Warriors are now playing on Sunday at Eden Park I will get as far as I need to get
Starting point is 01:00:10 the temptation taken away from me I need to somehow be somewhere where there's absolutely no possibility of any screen any update whatsoever. I need to be in a bunker, I need to be in Iceland. You can't be trusted, can't be trusted, obviously. Are you aware of another jinx in your life? Maybe you date them, maybe they're a friend of yours.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Maybe it's you. And they need to go in the bunker with Dan. Dan will make the bunker fun. Yeah, oh definitely. We have to be as distracted as possible from the game, so we're not thinking about it. Okay. Will there be free food? Definitely.
Starting point is 01:00:44 There will be free food. There will be very, very food. There will be very good entertainment as well. I'm talking world-class entertainment. I'm working on something behind the scenes. It's still a little bit up in the air. Jack's looking at me the boss. He was like, ooh.
Starting point is 01:00:55 The jinxes you need to unite on Sunday. I've given you a task. You said you'd sort it. He's laughing, so it looks like you might not have. Put it this way. I will do my effort. If there's no entertainment, I'll do it. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:01:10 One wants to be there now. I'll strip. I don't know. I'll do something to destroy. All right, I'm out again. Meg's coming out. Free food and I'm leaving. I'm definitely not going to be there.
Starting point is 01:01:19 You kind of want to see them. All right, Flat Idol. We have the winning song next. Six tickets to R&V. Who's it going to be? Clint McGee and Dan. It's Breakfast. The Edge.
Starting point is 01:01:29 Here we go. We have the result. It's Flats Idol. We had five flats around New Zealand all vying for six tickets to R&V, a VIP Vintage Club upgrade and accommodation. They had to put together an original song. How they decided to do that was completely up to
Starting point is 01:01:45 Some use AI, some did not. I would say that the caliber was largely good, wasn't it? A couple of them extremely good. All right, let's do a quick final recap. White Palace. Actually, this was a real favorite for a lot of people, despite the AI edition. White Palace.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Last R&B, time to face your bats. Last summer together and we're feeling emo. Give us the tickets and we'll give us the tickets and we'll give you the marks. I mean, the lyrics were really good. Yeah. 2-1-2 decided to do a five cover. We got the 2-1-2.
Starting point is 01:02:24 I have to dig and blue. We thought were the one to beat. They were the flat-full of musicians. They even played their own instruments. Same old streets, same old bars, same old bloody you. So, so talented. The Shatow gave it a good nudge. Yeah, it was rough.
Starting point is 01:02:51 And the Chazettes, why have we saved them to last? That might be because you guys are going to R&V for free! You guys got nearly 50% of the thousands and thousands and thousands of votes we got. You got more votes than Clint did on Dancing with the Stars. Incredible. You guys need to release that or do an album with something. There's a lot of love for it. Let's hear the song.
Starting point is 01:03:33 Can we hear the song again? We'll give New Zealand victory lap of the song if you missed it. on, I think it was Thursday last week, but six tickets to our MV. You're all going for free. You've got the vintage club upgrades. You can look at all the peasants, you know, fighting the crowds while you're in VIP and we'll sort out your accommodation with at Airbnb, so no camping
Starting point is 01:03:50 for you guys. The last dance, guys, you're going. Just quickly, before you go, guys, who was the person that decided to enter you guys in the competition? Because you get the onsuit in the flat. For sure. Oh, I'm going to claim that one, Lily.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Well done, Lily. You get the on suite, babe. All right, yes. Victory lap for the Chazettes. Going to R&V for free, the final dance in Waiohika State and Gizzy. We won't know. NB, congratulations, Lily and the Chazettes. Go on to R&V for free.
Starting point is 01:05:20 Well done, guys. And when recorded. Get up on stage. They've got to get on a stage somewhere at R&V. Okay, I guess it's school run, people doing the drop-offs. I've got a reminder for parents that will change the way I do drop-off and pick up. Actually, I don't do drop-off.
Starting point is 01:05:41 as I'm working, but I always do school pick-up. I kept getting to catch the bus. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Clint Megan Dan's school run. I guess a lot of people doing the school drop-off at about 20 bus day, getting the kids to school for 8.30.
Starting point is 01:05:58 Godspeed to you. This might be a nice reminder for moms and dads doing drop-off, or even I do a lot of the pickup after school with my kids. And we live quite close to school, so it's like a five-minute walk, really. And the kids can walk home. But it's nice in the afternoon if I've got the time to go and meet my kids and walk home with them and kind of debrief for the day. What a joy. Yeah, it's a privilege to be able to do that without hours.
Starting point is 01:06:22 And so I try to do that as often as I can. And whilst I was walking on my own to the school, I'm just mindlessly scrolling on my phone. And I come across probably a very fitting video for me personally as a parent's about to pick up my kids. And I see them a lot now. So my algorithm may have changed or maybe they're just. doing it more, where people leave like a phone in the middle of like a park or a busy street or just anywhere in public. And it'll say, leave a message for somebody that you miss.
Starting point is 01:06:54 And a mom picked up the phone and had this message. Now it's your mom. I've been thinking about you lately. I decided today that I would get rid of your bed. It's been 380 days since you needed it. But I'm keeping your toys. I just wanted to say hi and I love you and I miss you
Starting point is 01:07:14 and I miss your cuddles and I miss our mornings and I miss the way you run to me as fast as you can just to greet me and say hi So Penelope passed away just over a year ago after finding a little bit more about this mum's story And the bit that hit me was when she said her Kids run to her at full pace
Starting point is 01:07:32 And she hugs them And both my son and daughter do that When they see me After school they'll run to me And I always love that moment, but it didn't hit as hard as it hit that day. And we'll always hit that hard from now on that when they run and I hug them and I held them for so long that day, that you just sometimes take for granted that I get to live that life. And this poor woman doesn't.
Starting point is 01:07:58 Yeah, it's always, no matter how bad a day you have, the thought of just sitting in and then going, my kids are healthy. It just makes everything go back into perspective of like somebody. isn't going through, you know, isn't having their kid in bed that night and tucked in even if it was a nightmare of a day. So, beautiful reminder to know our privilege and luck in having, you know,
Starting point is 01:08:22 our kids around. Just anyone running towards you with a hug is, it must be an incredible feeling. If I ran towards you with a hug, Dad, you'd be laughing. Yeah, Jesus. Yeah, maybe it's something we'd do after the show. Or maybe when we go to the ad break. You can get up to my arms.
Starting point is 01:08:38 It may be a reminder, Drop your kids off to school this morning. Maybe just hug them a little longer, a little harder. And finish work a bit early and go and pick them up. Yeah, yeah, all that. Surprising. Yeah. All right, beat that coincidence is up next.
Starting point is 01:08:50 And it's a hell of a coincidence this one. Dan generally, it takes a lot to impress you. Dan found this one and he's actually brought it to the table. I wanted to get them on, but apparently they don't speak much English. They live in India. But I mean, apart from that, this is one of the best stories you'll ever hear. Your favorite radio show? And podcast for...
Starting point is 01:09:08 Edge Breakfast. Clint Megan Dan Head. Let's hear it, Danny. I mean, I'm hard to impress with these sort of things, but this one blew me away. I read this story on the weekend, and it's a story of two Indian women in their 40s now,
Starting point is 01:09:26 Mina and Manal, who were adopted out when they were babies to separate families in India, both in the same city, I believe, but if you think of India, a huge place. Millions and millions of people live in all the cities. And so they obviously were separate families, completely different. There was a, I guess, like a get-together for different adopted kids in one of the cities they were in when they were teenagers.
Starting point is 01:09:52 And they met up at this thing and said, oh my God, we look so alike. And they became really, really good friends. Like they struck up a friendship. They were obviously very, very much. Kind of been identical. Yeah. Well, they were identical. They're not twins.
Starting point is 01:10:05 They were sisters. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, so they're both adopted just like years apart? Yeah. Okay. Oh, wow. I think they were twins but not identical
Starting point is 01:10:14 Oh no oh there were twins Wow they're so sad that they weren't Kipped together That's so oh my goodness And so they struck up this friendship And we'd remain friends for many many years And then kind of grew apart Because one of them moved to the Netherlands
Starting point is 01:10:28 And then years later One of them got a test One of these tests You know Ancestry dot com type things And there was no matches Because she was wanting to find her biological family And there was no matches
Starting point is 01:10:41 and she was sort of a little bit disappointed. Years went by. And then after losing contact with this girl, that she was best friends within a youth, she got a message saying, I just did a test and your results were on there and were 100% match. And so years later, after being friends,
Starting point is 01:11:02 being separated at birth, going to completely different families, meeting up, catching, like getting on really, really well. Then losing contact again, and then getting back together because they are a hundred percent match and sisters. That's so upsetting that they could have had that bond their whole lives. Also, in a country of 1.5 billion people, of all the countries for that to have happened. Do you think India would be the last place?
Starting point is 01:11:27 You'd think it could happen in like Hamilton or somewhere in New Zealand because it's so small. But India, that is crazy. That's... Wow, and, as well, coincidence, they got the same birthday too, I imagine. Incredible. I mean, the birthday ones, we were. always get that. Like I've got the same birthday as my mum. I mean, it's, I guess
Starting point is 01:11:45 it's interesting to you, but it's not really interesting to anyone else. This one has beat that coincidence. Oh yeah, I think you've said the bar a little high. I think if I was going, oh, I've got a good one, but it's not that good. Yeah, we scare them off sometimes. I'll take any coincidence. Taking calls, and then Dan, you could have blown them out of the water with that. Oh, bugger.
Starting point is 01:12:00 Yeah. Yeah. I mean, did you find someone when you're an adult, you know, that was your sister? Okay, we'll take second place for beat that coincidence. Maybe just like, Can you come close to that coincidence? I mean, if you can beat that, great. But you're right, we'll take second place. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:18 Maybe you're not identical twins. I have phones ringing. Someone thinks they might be able to get close. Okay. Or text us your coincidence story that you're like, you guys are going to love this. 3343 on text. This is the Clint Meg and Dan catcher. Want to hear the guys off air and a little looser.
Starting point is 01:12:36 Listen and watch their Overthinkers podcast. I love. have a good coincidence. Same. If it's really, really good, it can send chills up your spine. Okay. Does Sarah have a really, really good one? Well, let's see.
Starting point is 01:12:52 Morning, Sarah. Good morning. How are you? Yeah, good. Now, sometimes these can be like family ones. Sometimes they can just be completely out of left field. What's your one involved? So it was so bizarre.
Starting point is 01:13:05 I moved back to New Zealand about 10 years ago and moved to Hamner Springs in Canterbury. Beautiful. Yeah, a beautiful place. And one of the first people I met was this really cool check and we became best friends. And anyway, my mum drops off a box of stuff to me from when I was a kid. There's only a couple of years ago. And I'm reading back through these old diaries and there's this one from when I was about 13. And it was when I was in hospital and Christchurch and I'm reading away and talking about this girl in the bed next to me whose name's Rebecca and she went to St. Margaret.
Starting point is 01:13:40 And she fell off her horse and broke her leg and the ears start standing up on the back of the back of her. him up neck, I'm thinking, this is Rebecca, my best friend. So I called her up and I said, Bex, can you remember what date it was that you fell off your horse? And she said, yeah, I do remember because it was straight after Waitangi Day. And I said, oh my God, you were the girl in the bed next to me. And she said, are you serious? I remember there was a girl in the bed next to me. And I said, same here, but I couldn't really remember anything about her until I started reading this diary.
Starting point is 01:14:06 Oh, my God. The universe wanted you to be friends back then, and you wasted all this time. Standing ovation, Sarah. That's a great one. Wow. Crazy. And tell me, you guys are still friends now? Oh, best friends.
Starting point is 01:14:21 Oh, great. That's all so. I love that. It's meant to be. Genuinely, the universe put you together. Beautiful. What about this text? When I was in the early stages of dating my wife, I brought her home to meet my parents.
Starting point is 01:14:33 While looking through an old photo album, she pointed to a picture and said, how do you know this man? I answered, that's my uncle. And she said, no. It's my uncle. Oh, uh-oh. Turns out her mother's sister is married to my mother's brother.
Starting point is 01:14:51 So they wouldn't be related blood, but they are related in terms of, through marriage. Oh. It's like New Zealand's too small, isn't it? And he said my wife, so they got married. This one I loved. I met my wife because I accidentally text the wrong number.
Starting point is 01:15:04 I text him saying, I'm outside, and end up texting this random woman who texted me back going outside where? We went back and forth for a while. We've been married 11 years. Oh, God. What? They must just be different.
Starting point is 01:15:15 All right, Gary. Good morning, Gary. Oh, the bars high this morning, Gary. You're going to finish off the segment. Better be good. Morning, team. Good morning, mate. So I grew up in one of my best friends.
Starting point is 01:15:29 We met an intermediate and came real good friends. And then later learned that my father and my grandparents actually grew up next to his parents and his family on the same road. And then we thought that was pretty cool. And then a few years later, I found a baby photo at his house when we were hanging out one day. And then I said, I'm, shit,
Starting point is 01:15:53 I've got the baby photo exactly the same. And I went home later that day and pulled it up. And me and him are both wearing the exact same outfit in our baby photos a year apart with a blue vest and a yellow sweater. Shat! That's gone! Gary and what's your friend's name?
Starting point is 01:16:14 Harry and my name's Gary and Harry. You're shitting me. Gary and Harry were going to match your matching outfit. Love it. You didn't let us down, Gary. Thank you.
