Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Good morning, bang on, six o'clock. Clint Meg and Dan. Happy to be here. No Meg today again. She's still a sick. Yeah, still. Well.
Starting point is 00:00:19 But Lucy will be covering for a little bit of the show today again. You didn't have to do the night show, so she'll be well-rested. It doesn't have to, you know, double-dit. Meg, yeah, there is a rule at work. If you're sick, don't be a dick. Is that the rule? Stay home. Is that the thing they say?
Starting point is 00:00:36 I think it came from like the CFO, the chief financial officer. He sent an email and I was like, oh, okay. But there's some people that are not sick, but they're still a dick. I can name at least three or four of them. That's the problem. Yeah, true. No excuse.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Do they not have to stay away? Don't think so. Right, okay. Maybe we need to make a new rule. Yep. A thousand bucks on the line, of course, as always. 7 and 8 o'clock with easy money. We got bloody close.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Yesterday we got to question 9 and question 10 yesterday. We're going to do a little bit of a hit the spot today in, I guess, celebration of bird of the year being won by the Robin yesterday. And the girl that raced Max for Stappen last week, a New Zealander, her name's Taylor Siraj. She's in studio to chat about it. Keep you flirting to a minimum there, Momoa?
Starting point is 00:01:23 I'm not flirting. My wife said I was flirting. I'm not flirting. Your wife would know. If anyone's going to know if you're flirting, it'd be her. This ride is well and truly closed. Shut up. There's no queuing nothing.
Starting point is 00:01:35 It's breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan. Madge. Meg's away today, by the way, if you've tuned in, she's still sick. She'll be back tomorrow, hopefully. I had a proud dad moment yesterday. Lovely. We were on the way to the supermarket just to pick out a couple of things. My son and I, so we just jumped on a lime scooter, made it a little bit more fun.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Is that why you're paying the Forrest Gump music? Yeah, yeah. And as we're walking past, there's a guy who's obviously a little bit hard up, sitting down in the corner of the alleyway that takes you down to the supermarket. pocket and my son notices him and I notice him and I said to Ty, well, should we, we'll get some cash out and we can give it to him so you can go buy himself some lunch or whatever. That's the sort of person Clint has. He always does this. Well, I do the opposite and sort of walk as far away from them as possible.
Starting point is 00:02:18 To her much is given, much is expected or required. And so I say to the lady, can I get some cash out? Turns out when you use an Apple pay, because I don't carry my wallet around really a lot for anything, well only you do it. It must be a safety thing. So when you're... Oh, cash out, you can't do paywave with cash out, yeah. So that was a bit of a shame and I was like, oh, damn sorry Ty, we can't do it. And he's like, oh, what are we going to do?
Starting point is 00:02:40 And I was like, oh, well, we'll try and catch him next time. Anyway, as we were walking out, we walk past the man, he's got his empty cup. We carry on walking and my son, Ty, stops. And he's got his little bum bag that he carries everywhere, which is generally just got Pokemon cards and chewing gum. Oh, he didn't give him a Pokemon card, because I don't think the homeless man could do anything with that. No, he starts talking to him and he starts unzipping his thing and I'm thinking, oh, he's going to give him some chewing gum or something, which,
Starting point is 00:03:07 nice gesture, but the man doesn't want chewing gum. No. Anyway, he pulls out a Westfield voucher that he's been hanging on to for a while that he got given as a birthday present, and he'd spent half of it and written on the back, because it must have been $50. I've obviously scratched out the 50 and written $19. $0.2, which was left so that he knew. and so he starts explaining to the man that it doesn't have $50 on
Starting point is 00:03:33 but it does have $19 and $2 and if you just use the pin on the back and press credit then you can get some lunch and so he's trying to explain it to him and I was like it was all a bit convoluted and I didn't want the man to feel awkward but the man was like so so appreciative but then also it's like a grown man is taking generosity from a nine-year-old It has to be an unbelievably humbling experience for him. So I'm sort of torn between not wanting to make the man feel bad,
Starting point is 00:04:03 but he was also very thankful that this boy took the time to stop and gave him this card that he'd been saving in his wallet for the last, I don't know, like two months. So I was a real proud damn moment. That's lovely, isn't it? Yeah. You've raised good children, Clinton. Well, I think if you...
Starting point is 00:04:20 Like, your kids will... They'll see what you do and they'll mimic what you do. I mean, even Dan, when you're driving, you know, and your kids in the back seat. He's listening to Dad? Yeah, I mean, he's listening to Dad swear and get really angry doing road rage. So it's different parenting, isn't it? My son the other day was playing with his cars and he was saying the F word while he was right.
Starting point is 00:04:40 He's two and a half, by the way. And I said, George, what are you doing? And he goes, pretending to be Daddy driving. So different parenting, really? Yeah, yeah. I mean, just know, they're always listening. They are, they are. Always an opportunity to live.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Coming up on the each breakfast. If I was the homeless man, I would have seen inside your son's I'm bad and gone. Is that a holographic charis out of this? Can I have that and see your crappy Westfield? I can sell that. All right. Let's settle this. Up next, Dan wants to know. What does I'm fine
Starting point is 00:05:10 really mean? Yeah, when people are in a relationship, or maybe you've been in a relationship before and you've been stung by the I'm fine. When really, we all know, they're not fine. Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint McGinn Dan. The edge.
Starting point is 00:05:25 A bit of a controversial one. It's Clint Megan Dan. And let's settle this. Let's settle this right now. Sorry, Dan. No, a bit of a controversial one this morning to settle. And we're going to need your help, Lucy, as well as on the text machine, 3343 on the phones, 0,800 at the edge.
Starting point is 00:05:40 When someone says, I'm fine, do they mean it? Sounds like you've had a bit of a run-in. I've had a couple of run-ins with different people as well. My wife actually is not really one of these people. Okay. That's good. Yeah, she's quite direct. She'll say.
Starting point is 00:05:56 She'll be like, no, I'm not fine, actually, and she'll say it. But sometimes I think it can be coded when someone says I'm fine. You go, are you all good? And they go, yeah, I'm fine. Yeah. When really they're not. That's my default mode. I will say, like, 80% of the time, someone that just doesn't want to talk about their feelings,
Starting point is 00:06:10 I just be like, no, it's all good. 80% of the fine, 80% of the time you're fine every time. Is that what you're saying? No, no, 80% of the time I use, I'm fine, I'm not fine. But it's because I don't want to talk about my feelings. Right. So it depends on the person you are, I feel. So that's interesting.
Starting point is 00:06:24 So you're not fine. but you don't want to talk about it. Yes. Because as a man, I don't know if you're the same Clint, but I want to sort it. Say, for instance, you were my wife or my partner. And I said, you're all right? And you go, I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:06:37 And I go, well, I don't feel like you are. But you don't want to talk about it, so I should leave it. Leave it for a little bit because then I feel the bubbles will blow up to the top and I'll eventually be like, okay, you did this. It pissed me off an hour ago. Okay. You know, I think sometimes it takes just a bit of settling. What's happening in that time?
Starting point is 00:06:52 Are you trying to work up what your argument's going to be? Yes, because usually you hit us with us. Oh, it's fine, don't worry about it. And then it's like you have to work on that to make you try to understand. Because as a man, I never win an argument. And it's because the girl usually has prep. She's percolated it in her head for like 48 hours. She's been saying I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:07:11 She's not. She's gone in with no ammo because he doesn't even think there's an argument to be had. And meanwhile, she's got full rounds, like magazine after magazines. You should be learning from us. I should. This is great learnings. I think it all depends on the tone. There's so many different ways.
Starting point is 00:07:26 you can say I'm fine. Okay Lucy, here's an idea. You give us three to four I'm fine. One of them is you're not fine and we need to guess which one it is. Does that work? Yeah, okay, you throw it out there
Starting point is 00:07:41 and I, okay. Should I do three? Okay, go on. Yeah, make them random. Okay. I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Oh, they all seem really negative. Okay, sorry, one more. I'm fine. Okay, that one I think, she actually is fine. Do you reckon? Yeah, yeah. I think that I'm fine means like, stop asking me.
Starting point is 00:08:02 If you keep asking me, I won't be fine, but right now I am fine. Oh, you and your wife have a wonderful marriage. Give me one where you're not fine. Okay. I'm fine. Oh, yeah, no. Yeah, sure. Yeah, nice.
Starting point is 00:08:14 It was very like... Monotone. Yeah. Yeah, like stop talking to me. In that case, we just need to stay clear. I just need to let you come up with your argument. Yeah. And then you'll come and cancel me tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:08:24 It's the best way of working, I reckon. Okay, one last one? I'm fine. Oh. Wait, now I'm confusing myself. Coming up with Click Weekendant. Open down, probably a better chance than not. I think so.
Starting point is 00:08:37 What I've learned from this is just avoid you until you are fine, actually. Yes. All right, scandal headlines next. What's happening? We got some tea. Ed Sheeran, his cousin has come out and said something scandalous. And we also got to talk about Taylor Swift, because our girl might be doing something very exciting very soon.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Okay. Stay tuned. All right, we'll get to her coming up in the next three minutes on the edge. Clint McGahn's scandal. Back on our six, Megaway's sick today, so Lucy looking after scandal. Waho, let's go. Some more drama with the Ed Shearer inside of things. He's facing another family backlash following the Macklemore controversy.
Starting point is 00:09:13 His cousin, Dethro, has just come out and publicly called him selfish, shady and a coward, claiming that Ed mistreated him in the past. Yeah, and then... It's getting messy, isn't it now? I know. If your cousins coming out in the woodwork saying that. flets it's like first cousin because it might be like a third or something and he's just
Starting point is 00:09:30 you know being crazy. Yeah, I've seen as well he goes, he's not a good person. I don't like his music so I can't even say he's a good artist. So, all right, Jethro. Someone's just not been giving any money after a year and success eh? I think so and then Taylor Swift is set to make VMA's history with a brand new honour.
Starting point is 00:09:46 She'll receive the inaugural, I hope I'm saying that right, artist, director honours recognising her work behind the camera on more than 15 of her music videos and this award will also make her the first, oh, the most awarded artist in VMA history with 31 wins. Wow. Which is insane for her.
Starting point is 00:10:04 That is incredible, isn't it? No one comes close to that, I don't think. Uh-uh, not at all. Wow. I'd love to see who's got the second most, because if it's 30, that is pretty close. I'd say it'd be like Beyonce or someone like that. Rihanna? Rihanna?
Starting point is 00:10:17 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. The Edge. Just hits. In Auckland.
Starting point is 00:10:24 The edge. The Edge. Clint Meg and Dan. If you want a complimentary well, a blunt umbrella, you can see Rodneywain.com. T's and C's Apply. Up next on the show, Lucy, was on our Overfingers podcast yesterday, which we record after the radio show. You can text a podcast at 3344 if you want the link. But we started going through your afterpay bill. Some of the things that you're putting on tick are outrageous.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Yeah, some things I'd be like, I don't think you needed that, but you put it on tech. Yeah, but I guess every one. is a need in some sort of way, you know, like food, I doodash that, you need that to survive? You need food. Do you need a pair of Timberland? That's my question. Yeah, I've got to cover the bunions there, protect them. Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan. This is the Overthinkers podcast. How did we get on to this, Dan?
Starting point is 00:11:13 We were talking to Lucy, because Lucy, obviously, thank you so much for filling in for Meg this week. Not worry. Thanks, thanks bad, him. And we've spoken to you a few times about your afterpay. And I think after pay is very common now, especially Gen Zs. They see it as like just another form of payment. Even if they've got money, they go, why use my money when I could use after pays, which I think's dangerous. And we explained to Lucy, who's only 20, that back in the day there was lay by, you know, and how our mum's used to slowly pay things off.
Starting point is 00:11:43 But they didn't leave you have it until you paid it off in full the other way around now. And so we were in truth because I don't use after pay. I guess it's just like a credit card anyway. So that's pretty much what you're doing. So we went through your afterpay history on the podcast yesterday. So in 15 days, she owes $500. Wait, do I actually? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Oh, shit. This coming week, she's got to pay $6 for a DoorDash purchase. Okay. She's got to pay $54. Jesus, so that's one of four. So you spent over $200 on a Pat Menzies pair of shoes. Oh, yep, the Timberlands? Yeah, great purchases.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Oh, yeah, you needed those when you're already in debt. Why? No one needs a pair of Timberlins. No, they look cool. I was sad, so. I was sad. Clint, these are all her active orders that she's still paying off. Uber, she paid $15 on DoorDash for an Uber ride.
Starting point is 00:12:30 There's a DoorDash for $20. There's a chemist warehouse for 60. There's an Uber. There's a sister's New Lynn. There's an Auckland family. Orrath. Auckland Family Dental. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Okay, so you had a filling done. No, no, hygienist appointment. I like to keep the teeth thing. Okay, 70. At least you're doing that, I guess. Another Uber. Another DoorDash. Another Bailey and Nelson.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Bailey and Nelson. My glasses. I got three pairs. I only needed one. But I couldn't decide between the frames. Unbelievable. This is the Overthinkers podcast. Now it sounds like we're throwing shade at you loose, but I will say this.
Starting point is 00:13:05 The reason I don't have afterpay is for the exact reason you've got it because I love an instant gratification by. And I feel like if I did have afterpay, I'd be spending it up willy-nilly. Now, I think they're a good and bad after-pay payments. 100%. Like the dentist,
Starting point is 00:13:21 Sure, great. You've got to do that. Look after your teeth. You only get one set. And that's what it's good for, right? After the baby ones fall out. If you have an unexpected bill that comes up, you can't afford and you go, oh, well, I'll be able to split it over. I get that. When you're like, I just want sushi, you're putting like sushi the day on afterpay. It's one of those things. It's like you're hungry, you're in the mall. You know you have lunch at home. However, you don't want to eat it. So if you afterpay it, it's guilt-free, you're paying $2 maybe because you pay like it's for installments. you pay $2 for a whole pack of like sushi. Right. Okay, so excuse my ignorance.
Starting point is 00:13:54 So you'll pay a quarter of whatever the bill is there and then on the spot. Correct. And then the other three quarters you pay off over a month. Well, if you do use it long enough, you get the option to not pay up front. If you've been good with your repayments, I had that, but it got revoked. Because you wouldn't even pay it back. And they just got an email. We were speaking saying after pay, installment declined, please go to app.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Oh, Jesus. Honestly, we need to, I reckon I need to take after pay off you. If I was your dad, I'd be like, right, that's it. I'm taking it off you. I'm stealing your account and you're not having it back until you've paid off all your current purchases. And do you know what's worse? My dad's an accountant, or he used to be.
Starting point is 00:14:29 So he looks at me with like the evil eyes and he's like, what have I brought you up to be? I know. Fun. Do you reckon you're like one of those, like your dad, like a Christian girl? You know, like when you were raised in the church, they're sort of raised. And they get pregnant at 17.
Starting point is 00:14:43 You're the opposite of that. It's just like financial wise. It's a bit different, dad. No, that's it. I do like an announcement. And that's, Rob, that's pretty much you. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Okay, I went under the edge. What is your worst after pay payment? What are the things you keep putting on after pay? Where you go, I need to stop doing that. For you, I think it's sushi. Yeah. It's DoorDash. It's DoorDash.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Not one dentist. Someone else has said that's DoorDash and Uber's for them as well. Yeah. It's just the small things. Okay, what are your guilty afterpay purchases that you're looking at going, I do need to stop that. I won't stop, but I do need to. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax.
Starting point is 00:15:18 The end. I don't know why Dan has become the judge on this, but people are doing texting and what they're putting on afterpay. Well, that's just my opinion. Yeah, and Dan's going to decide whether or not it's fair enough, or no, you shouldn't be putting on on after pay. I also just realise, again, excuse my ignorance. So you can't put anything on after pay.
Starting point is 00:15:36 They have to accept it as a form of payment. Yeah, the store has to, like, have it on their books, as they would have a F-Boss machine, say. And they pay after-pay, I believe, to have them on. That's the difference being, I guess, because I thought after-pay and a credit card are the same thing. but no, criticality card is accepted anywhere. It works in the same way.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Like if you want to purchase, say for instance a television on afterpay, you just go up and tap, go. Yeah, but I can use a critic card anywhere and you're saying there are some stores that won't accept afterpay because they're like, no, we don't want to chase you for your payments. Well, worse doesn't have afterpay. Here's a few things that I think would be fine on afterpay. Concert tickets.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Valid. Because, you know, a concert might come up. You're like, I can't miss this, but I don't have the money now, but I can pay it over for one for installments. Oh, yep. Steph owes $2,000 because she's been putting concert tickets. it's on afterpay because there's so many people coming to New Zealand in the next month. Yeah, so I think if you can, if you can look at it, you go, I can pay them off, then fine.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Dentist bills like you've got on there. I think if you need a filling or something's happening and you can't afford it, great. Perfect. Flights, sometimes there's like a grab, grab a seat deal or something and you want to grab it. Fine. Okay, what did Georgia said, impulsive Kmart shopping? No. I agree.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I don't think you need to do impulsive Kmart shopping on Afterpay. But you know when they have those really cute ice cube trays and they're like in love hearts? Oh, I love those all like a new. There'll be another sale. There'll be another sale. Okay, gym membership. No. Oh, it's good to you. If you can't afford the gym, you can't afford it. Go for a run. You lose some press-ups.
Starting point is 00:16:58 What do you can't run? What happens then? Go for a bike ride. Okay, what about bears? No. Beds, I'll conclude you're taking the piss. Okay, what about beers if it's for like a mate's birthday and he's invited you out? No, just go out. Your presence is presents enough. No, but I mean, you're going to celebrate your mate. Everyone's having beers. You have to buy the beers to,
Starting point is 00:17:18 celebrate their birthday, otherwise. You're just that weird guy sitting there. Give them an IOU one of those little notes. And then when you do have the money, buy them a beer. And you can do that. Uber has afterpay, and Uber eats also has afterpay, so you can afterpay wine. Is this an ad for afterpay or something? No, sorry, I'll stop.
Starting point is 00:17:33 What about Sheehan? Someone said, like, cheap clothes. They've got like an event. If you want to support sweatshops, then yes. That dances you. Let's go to Naomi. Morning, Naomi. What do you got on afterpay?
Starting point is 00:17:47 Let's see if Dan says it's okay. I actually have two things. One is most of a computer. Okay. And unfortunately, like a $6 purchase from Hemisphere House, which was a mistake. The computer is, do you use it for work? No. Okay, then no, you shouldn't have brought it.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Next. Let's go to Georgia. I can already see where this is going. It was an impulsive. of Kmart purchased? What was it Georgia at Kmart you purchased? I mean sometimes my fiance and I, we just like to go to Kmart
Starting point is 00:18:25 at like, you know, and just go a bunch of like stuff for our cats. Oh, cat, okay. Okay, oh wait, okay, hold on now, Dad loves the cat. So is he going to lend his... Now here's the thing, what if the cat starved if you hadn't purchased the stuff from Kaba? No, but the cat hasn't been spoiled
Starting point is 00:18:46 if we didn't get the stuff. Cats don't need to be spoiled. They can go outside and hunt birds and stuff. They love it. They don't need a toy. Wow, I'm really shocked by that. I'll get it in door hats. Oh, well then in that case, perfect. Great.
Starting point is 00:18:57 They'd be great purchase. Well, they scratch, if not their own post. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was a great purchase, Georgia. Thank you very much. Thanks, Georgia. And Sebastian wants to know if they can use afterpay for peaches and cream. If you're single, Sebastian, you are desperate, I'll give it you.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Yeah. You're such an upsetting citizen. Until that comment. Clint McGahn Edge Breakfast The Edge Festi Besties is back And this time We could be sending you and your bestie
Starting point is 00:19:27 To see Harry Styles live in Australia How good flights, a combination A double pass If he's not going to come to New Zealand We'll get you to Harry Stiles in Sydney Yeah So all you need to do Is put together a sign
Starting point is 00:19:39 That you think Because the thing with Harry Styles Is he loves reading out a sign A novelty sign in the audience, doesn't he? Yeah, it must have started years and years ago and then now there's just signs everywhere which to be fair can be a bit annoying if you're behind a person
Starting point is 00:19:53 with a very large sign. Yeah, I think you either need to be very close to the stage or have some sort of sign that's very, like a short one that's easy to read that's not too big. Yeah, in the past here are some of the ones that he's called out. This one was quite creative but didn't require a lot of work. It was someone who had attached their like grades to their sign
Starting point is 00:20:12 and wanted Harry Stiles to read them out to find out if they'd passed or failed. The final grade. We needed a forgot was A 6.3.3. That's good. So Harry Stales read out the results of them passing. Another one else, another one's celebrating eight years of a happy marriage.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Celebrating eight years of a happy marriage. Good, I think they passed a seven-year-rich, which is good. True? That got his attention. Somebody else who had their granddad's funeral the same day as the Harry Stiles concert, that quarter's eye. Went to my granddad's funeral today.
Starting point is 00:20:51 What? You can't choose when you're. granddad's going to die. No, true, true. And you would be, you'd be, if you're a huge fan of Harry Styles, you're not missing that show. So you just have to make your best Harry Styles sign and then submit a photo of it and enter it on Rover. So be as creative, as fun as you want, and make your sign stand out.
Starting point is 00:21:09 And if it does, it could win you a trip to Sydney, you and your mate to see Harry Stiles. If it was me, and I was a single girl and I had the hots for Harry Styles, I'd do a very simple sign that says, I'm here for my first ever patch. I'd stand as close to the stage as I could And then hopefully Harry Stahl sees it He reads it, comes down, gives you a peck on the cheek No, but yeah, I think you've gone in hot with the patch
Starting point is 00:21:30 I think it should be like 22 and never been kissed And then he might give you a peck on your cheek So it's a bit more innocent Yeah, and then you'd be like My first kiss was with Harry Stiles I feel like he might make that one He might make that one Do you think Zoe Kravitz get a little bit jealous
Starting point is 00:21:44 Not if it's a peck on the cheek, hey? Yeah Yeah So then maybe you actually Not only does Harry read your sign out You get a kiss on the cheap. There you go. You can use that idea if you want.
Starting point is 00:21:53 That's yours. Yep. Text Harry to 33443 if you want the link to enter. And no, not everyone will go to the effort. So I think if you do, chances of you're winning that trip to Sydney to see Harry sales probably very high, I would have thought. Speaking of winning next, easy money is back. And I will say this. I've gone through the questions.
Starting point is 00:22:10 It's very doable this morning. So if you want to win a thousand bucks, give us a call right now. 0800 of the edge. You're playing 20 seconds? Yeah, 90 seconds away. And the letter is I, by the way. You want to start thinking to iWords. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Time for your favorite game. Easy money. Bang on 7 o'clock. Yes, thank you, Glein, for the news update. You know who else should be axed? Whoever was running the bloody bunker, not just Ashley Klein, the referee on the field. Whoever was in the bunker needs to go as well.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Hard pill to swallow for the Warriors, now that the NRL are admitting that there was mistakes made within that team. Maybe that's why in the NBA finals, they have seven games, best of seven. Well, let's see if we can get a win here with Easy Money. Charlie from Christchurch. Good morning, everyone.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Good morning, Charlie. You're a first time caller, bro? Yeah, first time. It's bloody good to have you, bro. Hopefully, luck is on your side and we'll send you away with $1,000. The first time you've ever spoken to us. That'd be great for your Tuesday morning. Okay, Charlie, 30 seconds on the clock.
Starting point is 00:23:18 You get 10 questions. The letter is I. Okay, I for I've just won $1,000. Love the energy. Let's go. No, mate, no repeated answers. If you need a pass door quickly and if we've got time, we'll come back. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Time starts at the end of Dan asking your first question. Charlie, give me, with the letter I, a country. happily. Something sweet. Icebok. A boy's name. Ian. A type of coffee.
Starting point is 00:23:50 A bus. A colour. Bus. Something you send someone. A movie. Iceland. A job. interior designer.
Starting point is 00:24:11 That's time, Charlie. Oh, bugger, good start. But then the passes are three in a row, I think you had there. Yeah, for coffee, could have gone instant, iced latte, or anything iced, really. And then a colour, indigo, ivory was an option as well. I thought something you send an invitation or an invoice. I mean, you're a builder? Do you ever send any invoices, Charlie?
Starting point is 00:24:30 Yeah, yeah, I have. Yeah. But the problem is once you pass, here's the thing I've always said, Charlie. Once you pass a couple of times, it gets in your head and you start worrying about the questions you've passed on. and not focusing forward. So you know what? It was a good effort. Yeah, and to tell you what, mate, you're a builder.
Starting point is 00:24:45 So you only got to do probably four or five hours today, and you'll have a thousand bucks in your back pocket anyway. Why, yeah? Exactly, exactly. Good idea, Charlie. Well, it was the first time you called Don't Make It the Last. Yeah, mate. Good chat with you, bro.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Have a good day, Tuesday. Everyone, Beach. Cheers for that. Have a good one. See, bro. All right, back again at 8 o'clock. Next, what happened that wasn't part of your birth plan? A bit of a story for that.
Starting point is 00:25:06 We do for you next. Don't say I've ever had a birth plan. Nah, I mean, my wife's birth plan for our second kid was actually sounded pretty magical on paper. It didn't go that way because she didn't want to do the water birth, and I bought my togs and everything. I couldn't even, it didn't even get in. What a day. It wasn't about me, though.
Starting point is 00:25:25 This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys off air and I'm a little looser? Listen and watch their Overthinkers podcast. We are asking you what happened that wasn't part of your birth plan on 0800 The Edge. Lucy's filling in for a sick me here in there this morning. was telling us a story off here and we were like oh yeah that needs to be on the show oh some stuff went down yesterday I went to go visit my cousin Nick um him and his partner just had a baby congratulations Nick and his partner yeah congratulations all went to plan birthing wise
Starting point is 00:25:56 healthy baby it's all good um but she had a planned C-section yeah um and so while they were prepping her and like you know getting her the C-section uh they had to kind of like someone else was having one at the same time different room different surgeon whatever and they had to put them in the same room together but my cousin Nick didn't realize that while his partner was having his kid next and with like between
Starting point is 00:26:19 the curtain his ex having a C-section two and he walks in and sees both of them what are the chances oh man both kids were his no dad oh right you would be looking at it
Starting point is 00:26:34 yeah yeah yeah yeah no good he definitely doesn't he was dunking it between each kid going at How's it going in here? All good? Oh my God. I'm sure that's like a scene out of, or similar to a scene out of friends.
Starting point is 00:26:48 It seems like I've heard it before, right? Did it end on good terms with the X? Because that's make or break, right? Oh, well, it's just like one of those ones where it's like, I'm not ready, you're ready, but I'm not, so I just have to leave one of those ones. So it's kind of like bittersweet in a way. So there was still like love there from him?
Starting point is 00:27:05 And then the next day? So what, like this morning? Oh no. No, it would have been last. night he brought flowers in not only for his partner but for his ex-girlfriend. The curtain wasn't even like pulled. So they both saw each other getting flowers. No, come on, man.
Starting point is 00:27:20 That's nice though. He's just a nice guy going, congratulations. Obviously, he's brought, as long as the bouquet that he got his wife was bigger than the bokeet that he got his ex. I don't think as a highly hormonal person who's just given birth, I don't know if that's going to come across well from his current partner. I don't. I think once the hormones chill out,
Starting point is 00:27:40 wouldn't you be like, I've married or I'm with such a great guy that he went out of his way to also buy his ex-flowers to congratulate her. She's obviously moved on. He's moved on. They haven't kids to different people. Now I'm starting to wonder whether it is this kid.
Starting point is 00:27:53 That is why I got the flowers. Yeah. Was the other partner there out of interest? I'll just say partner, Haley, was not very happy. Okay. What happened? That wasn't part of your birth plane
Starting point is 00:28:05 because typically they get you to put together a birth plane and I don't know really anyone that has it go exactly how that's sort of written it out. I mean, it's nice to have something to aim towards but I guess it depends how you feel and baby decides to show up early or late and throw a spanner in the works.
Starting point is 00:28:20 There's so many variables, isn't there? You know, and let's not just focus on the birth as well. Like there could have been like this one that you were just sharing. There's peripherals outside the birth like someone turns up you weren't expecting. Lucy, my wife wanted a water birth for us here. I was just about to ask that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:36 And I was just about to ask that, yeah. And I was stoked because it's like having a spa pool in the room. And I put my hand in. I was like, oh, the temperature was beautiful. And the pool? And I brought, yeah. Oh, I don't know. You might have been having to deliver the baby yourself.
Starting point is 00:28:50 And so I brought my dogs so I could get in and help out and whatever. Sorry. And turns out my wife changed her mind and she didn't want to get in there. She didn't feel like delivering in the water. And that's her prerogative, right? Yeah. I thought maybe at some point I could just hop in. No.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Why don't wear the hop-alls? He's doing butterfly while his wife was like, oh. Turns out my wife was not happy to the idea of me having fun in this park while she was having contraction. Goggle time. Click for a snorkel and everything. Your favourite radio show? And podcast for Edge Breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Clint McGon Dan with Lucy from the night show, fill it in for a sick meg this morning. We want to know what happened. that wasn't part of your birth plan because it doesn't always go according to plan somebody said like you Clint I wanted to have a water birth
Starting point is 00:29:43 like my wife she said technically I did but baby showed up while I was in the shower and husband was frantically looking for towels oh my god at least you're in the shower I guess it's probably a good place to give birth if you've got a big shower
Starting point is 00:29:56 you're not like one of those big and not a shub your shub would be a nightmare someone else has to text me now this is crazy My midwife's hearing aid ran out of... Oh no. Ran out of battery.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Mid-birth. No, that is horrific scenes. So you would have had to be like, it's crap. Like, she wouldn't be able to hear anything. What a nightmare. Is this better or worse? My plan, probably like most women, was a calm, candlelit labour with relaxing music.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Instead, I ended up giving birth during a fire alarm evacuation with 30 strangers in the hospital car park. What are you doing that situation? Do you move? or do you just stay seated? I guess they have you in a bed and they must wheel you out. That's shocking, eh, that you'd have to do that in front of 30 people.
Starting point is 00:30:39 You'd think at least they'd hold up like a blanket or something so you could have a little bit of privacy. You're crowning and the sprinklers are going off. Jeez. This might give some mum's PTSD, but it says my birth plan specifically said no visitors for the first 24 hours. My mother-in-law somehow found out I was in labour and turned up at the hospital and walked into the delivery room
Starting point is 00:31:00 carrying a McDonald's family box. That's classic mother and all behavior, right? I like Thanksgiving evil. I did get peckish with my first kid, and so I went and got a butter chicken from downstairs. Oh, you missed the birth. I will, no, I wouldn't say. That's not the cuisine that your wife may want the aroma filling the room
Starting point is 00:31:20 when she's having contractions. And then for a second child, Clint went out and had a green curry, and that's why a second kid's called Thai. Terrible. I find you. That was good. That was good though, quick. That's terrible.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Can we finish on this one? I was in Labor absolutely losing my mind and scream to the doctor. Can't you just pull it out? He said it doesn't have handles. Just hold off. Actually, Alia's just called, oh it under the edge.
Starting point is 00:31:48 What happened? There wasn't according to your birth plan, Alia? My plan was not to tear, and not only did I tear, I tore the bean. Oh, Jesus. Oh.
Starting point is 00:32:00 My goodness me. I cannot imagine the pain that that must have been, like, unfathomable. Do they rub it in, Dan? Jesus, God. It's had to be a gerald, but I could still feel it. Yeah, not good. It's all good now? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Yeah, yeah, she's back to business. Good idea, Leah. Thanks for calling. Thanks for being so honest with us. Yeah, actually, I do really appreciate the honesty. I'm going to send you a double pass through a must-see movie. It's going to be out in cinemas on Thursday. And it's got Brad Pitt in it.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Heart of the Beast. It was shot in beautiful, the South Island, New Zealand. But Alia, obviously, still a beautiful experience, wasn't it, the birth? Oh, yeah, yeah, for sure. And worth it now, so thank you. Aw. Does she mean worth it now because she has a kid or worth it now because she's got a double pass to go and see Heart of the Beast?
Starting point is 00:32:50 A bit of both, I reckon. Yeah, yeah, sure. I just didn't want to scare people off, that's all. All right, it's been a bit of chat around Rock Cafe and Christchurch that is charging $100. a cup for a cup of coffee. Which seems like a lot of money for a cup of Joe. Yep.
Starting point is 00:33:05 And our producer car behind the scenes is being screwing low way to try and get his hands on the bean to see if we can produce or replicate the $100 coffee here in studio. Bougy stuff. Oh my goodness. I want to taste it. I think we have a surprise for you next Thursday. Wait, do I need to try it? Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover
Starting point is 00:33:28 and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan. The Edge. And there is a cafe and crush church called Rook that is charging $100 for a cup of coffee from Mount Totemus in Panama. Oh, beautiful. And scored a 96.2 out of 100,
Starting point is 00:33:43 putting it in the ultra-premium category of beans with floral, clean, and acidic flavor notes. Now, I'm a fan of a smooth, nutty, chocolatey coffee. So the acidic notes would put me off. So I wouldn't want to pay $100 for this. Yesterday when they put it up for sale, they'd already sold five cups. So $500 worth of the Panama Bean.
Starting point is 00:34:09 God, that's good, hey? So I wonder how much they need to sell before they make even, break even. Well, they supposedly only had enough of the bean to make about 15 cups of coffee. So I guess yesterday they went through a third of their stash. Oh my God. And our producer Carl has been busy behind the scenes
Starting point is 00:34:27 trying to get his hands on the bean. Yeah, I just about had to risk life and limb to get my sticky fingers on this bean, but worth it, because in front of you... Come on, guys. Oh, what? Come on. Just move on. Push on. It's a coffee bean.
Starting point is 00:34:39 I see what you're doing, Dan. And so, in front of you, Lucy, you've got three cups of Joe. Beautiful. And look, I will say, Carl, they look like they've been made very well, beautiful. Thank you. I was once a barista. And what you're saying is, in one of those cups of coffee
Starting point is 00:34:55 is this $100. Yeah, $100 and then the other two cups are just from our... Okay, it should stand out. It should if it's that much better. And somebody who did try it yesterday was quoted to saying, it was really nice. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:35:11 That's not what you want. Really nice, quote. I want it to be life-changing for $100. My expectations are high right now. Somebody else said it's definitely worth it. Okay. Tip for tip. I mean, I love a Macca's coffee, so I don't know how this is going to go down.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Jesus, you're the worst person to be testing this on then. I just about to say that. Okay, so let's go for coffee number one. So she's picking it up. She's going to have a sip. This is live tasting of three coffees. One of them's worth $100. Instant sort of feelings on that one.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Mmm. It's good. It's really good. Okay. Sorry. What are the notes? Because we've said the $100 ones acidic. It's kind of chocolate-y.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Okay. I don't know. Hold on. Mm. Yeah, it's a chocolatey. Quite creamy. me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:56 Next one, let's go on to the second one. Probably the worst person to be doing this. Yeah. Okay. Your instant thoughts on that? Mm. That's different. Oh.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Yeah, that's definitely more siddicky. Okay. Okay. And now the third and final one. I prefer that one. The third and final, some instant thoughts on this one as well. It would be good. No.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Okay, so if you had to pick, you've had a taste of all three cups, which one is the $100 coffee bag? Oh, no. I think I'm going to have to go number two. Oh, respect the drum rule. Sorry. God, has the coffee gone through you that quickly? Number two.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Number two, you're saying? I'm saying? Number two is not the $100 coffee. What? Which was your second favorite? Number one. Not the $100 coffee. No, it wasn't that one, was it?
Starting point is 00:36:48 No, they're all just Macona. Macona heft near... Yeah, it turns out. Producer Carl emailed us. He was really struggling to get hold of the bean. You couldn't find it. find any of it and so he's just thrown Macona in all three. Do you know what's so funny?
Starting point is 00:37:02 I was about to say, they actually will taste the same but for the bit. No, you said they're all different. Shame on you. He said one had more acidity and one was chocolate to you. Because you said it was. I tell you's the real winner here, Macona, because Macona have me at me. Yeah, so your instant thoughts, we thought we'd given you a little clue there, but never mind. I was so excited.
Starting point is 00:37:27 too guys you're like yeah you're going to taste it yeah yeah no that was all just did some coffee we actually do genuinely though have marco who's in crush church uh one of our roadrunners who's going to head down to the cafe at eight o'clock because we wanted to get the owner on the show but there's no number for the cafe so we're going to have to send an edge employee and then just hopefully you can hand the phone over to the owner and we can get a bit of a chatterer how popular the hundred dollar cup of coffee is in crush it imagine they're just selling mccona and they're like to everyone would be very smart from a company perspective. Candlest.
Starting point is 00:37:57 All right, so we'll find out coming up after 8 o'clock this morning. If you are in Christchurch, you've tried it or been to Rook Cafe, we'd love to hear how busy the cafe is with all the chat around the $100 cup. And, Rock, if you are listening as well, we are desperate. Flick us, somebody being. Yeah, flick us it. Coming up on each breakfast. All right, scandal headlines.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Ed Shearons and relatives are throwing shade at them and getting their time in the spotlight. Oh yeah, he's catching a bit more shade, I think, from the start of all this conundrum going down to even family members. And somebody else joins the 27 Club, gone too soon, died at the age of 27. Lucy has those details next on the edge. Clint Meg's always sick today, so we've got Lewis from the night show, filling in taking care of scandal. Thanks, Lucy. Ed Shearing is facing another backlash following the McElmore controversy.
Starting point is 00:38:52 his cousin Jethro has publicly called him selfish, shady and a coward, claiming Ed mistreated him in the past. There's always a wacko cousin that comes out of the woodwork, eh? But then he started going, oh, I don't even think his music's any good. It's like, oh, I get Jethro. They're taking him personally. And then in some very sad news, Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of Supermodel, Cindy Crawford,
Starting point is 00:39:14 has died at a rehab facility in California. The medical examiner says his death was pronounced at 9.45am. with the investigation now underway and autopsy and toxicology testing are expected to determine the official cause of death. I mean, obviously people die at all sorts of different ages, but that 27 club, eh?
Starting point is 00:39:32 Yeah. It's a bit about it. It is strange when they have a whole lot of celebrities that all end up, you know, tapping out at 27. Concerning as well if he passed away at a rehab facility. Something's gone down there, right? Yeah, we'll see. I'm assuming the next couple days what happened there. Next to lose? The Edge.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Just hits. In Auckland. Megan Dan Ben to win a blunt umbrella and $400 worth of well a hair cure from Rodney Wayne just text the word here to 3343 if you want to get yourself in the mixer for that
Starting point is 00:39:59 It was a big announcement yesterday The Robin has taken out bird of the year for 2026 well deserved I thought the Robin's been working hard behind the scenes for many years Yeah no no the black robin just came from nowhere Like where the hell does it live mostly How big is it? When was the last time anyone saw one
Starting point is 00:40:14 But black robin was on no one's radar The White Robbins always winning I think it's good for the black Robin to get something So where I've been issued a challenge Yeah, I hit the spot is back God, if only there was a song about Robbins Oh wait on There is
Starting point is 00:40:31 Is this the Jackson 5? Well, I think Michael did this one on his own So the Jackson 5 on it And then he went and did rock and Robin on his own So Dan's going to be singing this And we'll see if he can hit the spot It's a way to celebrate the black Robin This is a real crowbarring in of a hit the spot
Starting point is 00:40:48 if I'm honest, but I'll do it. It's been a week or so, man. I'm always looking for opportunities. If it's for the Robin, I'll do it. Oh, she's so long. Your favourite radio show? If I go for... Edge breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Now, I reckon this is more of a side quest, hit the spot. If I'm honest, because it's one of the shortest ones we've ever done. I mean, in the past, sure, we've done Wicked when the movie was big, and Dan was dressed as Alphabah. had a whole full choir behind him. There was like a stage. That was a nightmare.
Starting point is 00:41:23 You loved it. You loved it. So some of them we scale back, and this is probably one of those ones, with the Black Robin winning bird of the year. I'm not sure what it does for the Black Robin, but 100,000 New Zealanders almost all voted. Yeah, I think it's good for conservation because a lot of these birds are endangered in New Zealand
Starting point is 00:41:40 and so there's lots of predators. It brings awareness to the Black Robin, doesn't it? I love that. Do you know what makes this hit the spot feel a little lackluster? This producer car normally goes and grabs people from all around the office. There's about 10, 15 people in the producer's booth. It's just you and producer Brady come. Yeah, and we're very enthusiastic about this song.
Starting point is 00:41:57 Go, Dan. Let's go. You better be, mate. This is a no frills hit the spot to rock and Robin by, is it the Jackson 5 or just Michael Jackson? Yeah, just Michael. I pay expectations. Okay, so squeaky clean image. Let's do this. All right.
Starting point is 00:42:10 To celebrate the black robin being bird of the year, Dan, good luck. I haven't practiced at all. Not one practice. You got it. going to be a sham. Here we go. Find your rhythm. Tweet.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Tweet. Tweet. Tweet. He rocks in a treetop all day long. Hopin'nana bupanan and singing his song. All the little birds on J. Bird Street love to hear the robin. Go tweet, tweet, tweet. Rock Robin.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Hey! Now it feels a little bit lackluster as I said because there's no one here to celebrate. The producer don't even have been my time. Yeah! I want to hear it again. hero, Dan. You're our hero. We love you. It was good. It was great. The Robin deserves more,
Starting point is 00:43:02 especially the Black Robin. Can we get a Black Robin in studio at some point this week, producer Carl? So is that like a person called Robin? I think, look, it's brought awareness to the Black Robin. Yeah, and that's all you needed to do. Beautiful bird. Yeah, Richie said, Dan, you're my hero too. Thank you, Richie.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Oh, how does he do it? You're fans. It's just magic. It really is magic. All right. All right, we're about to fight it out next. We can't be friends forever because the A-Lister list is back. And once a week we argue over three celebrities and where they deserve to be right at the top as an A-lister. Or have they not done enough to reach that peak in their career just yet.
Starting point is 00:43:44 Clint gets very physical with this as well. Last time he lost an A-lister. He head-butted me. Okay, well, Lucy has three. You have three names and we will fight it out and then we'll see if you agree or disagree. on where we're putting them A, B or C I think there's only one or two
Starting point is 00:44:00 that have ever been in the D list. Oh, yeah. Time to fight for our lives, guys. It's next on the Edge. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan. The Edge.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Once a week, we fight it out over three celebrities and decide whether they fit in the ABC or sometimes even D-list category. Yeah, there's been a few put on the D-List. Not many, though. Not today, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:44:28 I hope not. Okay, so three names. Let's discuss the first name. Okay, first start. We've got to sing a songwriter. We've got the iconic Averill Levine. Massive. Huge megastar, caveat in the early 2000s.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Yeah. Like, if she was featuring on a song with Lady Gaga, would we be like, oh my God, how did Lady Gaga get Averill? That's an interesting name. That's a good point. And if Averill Levine was here, Yeah, we don't want to get photos for the nostalgia of it, but I... Oh, you're right.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I think for a certain generation she is, and I hate you said this word, because I don't agree with it, iconic. I think she is, to a certain degree. I think she is that, that song Skaterboy, probably one of the biggest songs of the early 2000s. But isn't Amar Levine in the B list? Sorry, Ariana Grande in the B list? Yeah, I'm not saying she's an A-lister.
Starting point is 00:45:25 I think she is a strong B-lister. But I also think it depends what age you are, because if you grow up with her music, like I did, I hear her voice, and I... to they know who it is. I'm not saying you guys are old, but like different generation. Maybe we're old, maybe you're too young.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Okay, all that, you could spin it around. So in my eyes, she would be higher up, but then for you guys, you've experienced music before her. So it's kind of just like another lady, you know?
Starting point is 00:45:49 I think if we put her in a B, that'd be generous, personally. Anyway, you could put Averill Levine in a C. Mate, if Averill's at the same party as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, I'm thinking Averill's a plus one. No, I think Averill's up there with those in terms of just iconicness.
Starting point is 00:46:07 All right, so she's number one. We'll fight her out next because we can't agree. Who's number two? Okay, next we've got Daniel Radcliffe slash... You're a wizard, Harry. I'm a lot. A wizard and a thump and good a night wager once you trade up a little. Now this is tricky because the character he played in Harry Potter is an A-lister.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Harry Potter, everybody has heard of it. Daniel Radcliffe, I don't want to say it, is a Harry Potter. has been. He was typecast as Harry Potter. He's done nothing of notes since. He's a C-Lister in my opinion. But it's not like Spider-Man where three people have played him. Only one person has ever played Harry Potter and that's Daniel Rackcliffe.
Starting point is 00:46:45 Daniel Rackcliffe is Harry Potter. I don't think you can separate them. The same person. It's like Pink having a different name saying that's not Pink. Well, it is her. No, but Pink is not doing spells and playing Quidditch as a character, is she. Whereas Daniel Radcliffe was when he was playing Harry Potter. That's like saying, uh, Pink's an A-Lister, but Alicia Moore isn't her real name.
Starting point is 00:47:01 But she is one and the same person. Pink. Daniel is Harry. Put it this way. If Daniel Radcliffe comes in here right now and you're asking to float on a broomstick, you're going to be gutted because he won't be able to do it. But that's because it's fiction. He defeated the dark lord, Dan. Come on, you've got to give him some points for that. He did it though. Harry Potter did. I mean, he is Harry Potter. I know what you're saying, Dan, because my son, he was reading Harry Potter last night. He knows him, but I think if I said, who's Daniel Radcliffe, my son would be like, who? Radcliffe is a C-lister. He played a great role. That is an A-list role, but he's not doing it
Starting point is 00:47:31 anymore. So to clarify, we are asking, is Daniel Radcliffe an A-lister? A B-lister or a C-lister. Okay. And the last name? We have got Usain Bolt. Here they come down the track. Hussein Bolt spreading ahead, winning the
Starting point is 00:47:51 record. He's the only A-lister for me. Yeah, he's an absolute goat of his sport. In fact, when you speak of running, all you think of is Usain Bolt. He's the fastest man on the planet. He's won multiple gold medals. I think everybody from Africa to Asia to New Zealand to America
Starting point is 00:48:08 would have heard of Usain Bolt. He is an A-lister. World record holder in the 100-200-400-meter relay, four-by-100-meter relay apologies, and an eight-time Olympic gold medalist. Even his name, Usain Bolt, you go, he's fast. Yeah, he's a... He's a... He's fast. He's faster than Daniel Radcliffe on a broomstick. I'll tell you that.
Starting point is 00:48:27 No, Dan! Okay. Starting beef here. 80 for you'll see. Your favourite radio show? And podcast for Edge Breakfast Clint Meg and Dan Hedge
Starting point is 00:48:37 A B, C. Although Meg's always six So we got Lucy From the night show throwing out three names You have to decide If they are A, B or C listers Right, we've got Averilliv
Starting point is 00:48:49 Daniel Radcliffe And Usain Bolt Who by the way, I just looked at Usain He earned approximately $10 million a year From Puma Making it the largest
Starting point is 00:48:59 Endorsement Contract In Track and Field History Mate, he's loaded. I think, you know what? I think Usain is the only A here for me. The other two, I think Daniel Radcliffe, I hate to say it, he's a seat lister, and Averillivine is a B-lister. Charlene, disagree.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Morning, Charlene. Yeah. Hey, so what are we doing with Averall Levine? Where does she go for you? Definitely A. Okay, and Daniel Radcliffe, you're putting him in a A as well, even though I don't think there'd be many people out there that a younger generation to maybe the early 2000s would know who he is? My kids, though.
Starting point is 00:49:37 How old are your kids? From the age of 12. Okay, okay, why that's doable. Interesting. I mean, he's kind of like the Michael Jackson of their era, Harry Potter. Yeah. But Dan thinks you should be separating Harry Potter and Daniel Radcliffe.
Starting point is 00:49:54 Yeah, Harry Potter, I think, is obviously world famous. He's an A-Lister. Would you separate Tom Holland with Spider-Man? Yes, because Tom Holland is an A-Lister, but he's done more names, something else that Daniel Radcliffe has done apart from Harry Potter. defeat the Dark Lord?
Starting point is 00:50:09 Like he, sorry. No, that's in Harry Potter. But he, I don't know. You're right. Didn't do that movie with Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock and he's in the jungle and stuff? Name it. Let's go to Renee. Morning, Renee.
Starting point is 00:50:22 Good morning. All right, Renee. What are we doing with Averall Levine first? Oh, I'm sorry, she's a sea lister. See? No, because this is why she's got a few good hits. Yes, good road trip songs. Love her.
Starting point is 00:50:35 But other than that, how does that make her? any more than a C-lister. There's nothing else that she's done. I do think it's a bit harsh. And she married the dude from Nickelback. Chad Kroger. Yeah, that's not A-List behavior. That's not A-Lister.
Starting point is 00:50:49 And that doesn't make her an A-Lister. And I think... You've forgotten Daniel. You've forgotten Daniel. Yeah, what would you... I think I love him and I love Harry Potter, but unfortunately, I think he's a B-lister. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Other than, if you have to separate him from Harry Potter, again, there's not a lot. He runs him, but only for Harry Potter. You're speaking a lot of sense here, Renee. And finally, Usain Bolt, the fastest runner in the world. Where would you put him? Oh, definitely an A-lister. Just like what you said, Dan, look at all the indicts, like endorsing he's doing and everything else. It's not just his running.
Starting point is 00:51:24 That's what makes him an A-lifter as well, I think. Finally, someone's speaking sense. Well done, Renee, from Palmer's to North. You're a good person. Let's finish with Audra. Morning, Audra. Good morning. Okay, Daniel Radcliffe.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Yeah, you're not happy. I'm not happy at all, guys. Where does he go? Come on. Okay, Denya Rodcliffe, A, Lister, of course. Does anybody realize that he's a Tony Award-winning Broadway performer? He's been working on Broadway for years. No one cares, though, really.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Dan! Not totally talented dude. Separate from Harry, separate from his Harry Potter role, so hugely talented kid. And then went on as an adult to be a Tony Award-winning, musical theater major star. Come on. Have you guys ever tried to sing
Starting point is 00:52:13 in dance and act? Oh, Dan, his dream was to be on Broadway, but it didn't happen. Okay, let's go. Okay, give some love. Give some love to do you're up. No, me, this is the thing, Audra, we're talking about worldwide fame, and unfortunately Tony Awards are like the Timo version of an Oscar. And so no one is... You're killing me.
Starting point is 00:52:28 I know. Coming from a theater kid, come on. I know, and that's, I think, takes more grandiose from me, because I don't think he's world famous. doesn't agree with you, Audra. He's saying get her off the phone. Sorry, Audra. Thank you, babe. We're going to take your phone into account, but Lucy, you have the final say. I think after that, the overall consensus, I think we've got an A, B, and a C.
Starting point is 00:52:52 Okay, let's start with the A. Okay, I think for A, we're going with my guy, Usain Ball. Yeah, I think it's fair too. He deserves a lot of A's for him on text. All right. Are you ready for number two? B. I think, I'm sorry, Dan, but we have to go Daniel Radcliffe as a B. I'm happy he's there. I would have put him in a C, but I think he doesn't deserve A. So you're giving Avrilavina C. Yeah, we have to.
Starting point is 00:53:20 It's not up to me completely. Well, there you have, New Zealand. She got a few A's coming through on text too. But then she's also coping a lot of C's. I thought she might have got a B. But no, that's it. You tracked her in the sea list. Yeah, depends on your age with her, I reckon. Thanks for all the text this morning on this.
Starting point is 00:53:37 Oh my God, it was a contagious. A lot of angry people. All right, easy money next. If you want to crack it a thousand bucks, we'll play in 90 seconds. I'll give you a bit of a heads up as well to make it even easier. The letter is F. If you give us 10 answers starting with F in 30 seconds, cash is yours. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:53:55 One letter, 10 k degrees, and just 30 seconds. Let's play. Easy money. Three bar state, the letter is F. Give us 10 answers in 30 seconds. We give you a thousand bucks. You can pass, but you can't. give us the same answer twice.
Starting point is 00:54:09 We're going to Albedee this morning in Auckland to Ashley. Morning. Good morning. Okay, so you know the rules. The letter today is F for Farrow. I just won a thousand bucks. Hopefully. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:23 Are you ready to go? Yes. Let's do this. We will start the clock at the end of Dan asking you your first question. Good luck, Ash, Ash with the letter F. Thank you. Name for me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:34 A boy's name. Fred. An animal. Hello, Fred. A body, an animal. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. So you didn't hear Dan, that would have ruined your time. You would have absolutely dropped the ball.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Dan, can you just come up with another category for the first one? And we'll start again for you, right, Ash? Okay. Because I did not like your chances of coming back from that trip on the first turtle. And listen carefully. Yeah, I thought they got that real fast too. Asking questions straight after you answer. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Starting again, 30 seconds. F, a boy's name. Fred. A body part. Finger. A beauty product. Foundation. A dessert.
Starting point is 00:55:18 A Frito. Something you drink. Gone again, hello. Oh, I think we've got a... You've gone again, hello. Okay, an instrument. Fiddle. A three-letter word.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Four. A movie franchise. Time. Now, I think we had a bad connection. could hear you the whole time. You couldn't hear us. Oh, could hear. Unfortunately, sometimes the phone can let you down if you're not in a good area. So I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:55:51 that happened to you, Ashley. Got it. Sorry, Ash. I don't think you would have got there even without the phone issues. I think you need to be slightly faster. You're right. Back again at 7 and 8 tomorrow. All thanks to Novice glass. Crack or chop on your windscreen. Novice, they also sort of your insurance claim. We've got a bit of an update. You may have caught
Starting point is 00:56:11 us catching up with Taylor. Sarage, who is a content creator. She loves cars. She loves wearing beautiful, colorful dresses. So her aesthetic doesn't necessarily fit her hobby for the most part. And last week, she went over to the UK to race Formula One world champion Max for Stappen. He's a four-time world champ. And I guess somebody wondered, could Max beat 100 amateurs in a go-kart race?
Starting point is 00:56:37 And she represented New Zealand in that race. Clint McGinn, Dan. Edge Breakfast. The Edge. Clint Megan Dan. Megaway sick today, so you got the boys. And soon to be joined on the show by Taylor Saraj. Who doesn't fit the mould of a girl racer?
Starting point is 00:56:53 Because she likes wearing her pretty dresses. Oh. But she knows a lot about cars. And she's amassed a following of just over three quarters of a million people on Insta. Interesting. You say that, Clint. What does fit the mould of a girl racer in your opinion? Oh, maybe a sleeve tap.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Oh, yeah. A monster energy cap? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'd say like fake blonde hair. You know, you can see the old black regrowth coming through. Yeah, no. Well, if I was going to stereotype somebody. And I mean, maybe that is why she's a mass such a following
Starting point is 00:57:21 because she's so unique in what she does. And we had her in, would it have been a couple of weeks ago? Yeah, two or three weeks ago, because she has been asked by Red Bull, a huge honour to go over to the UK and race Max for Stappen, Formula One World Champion for Red Bull, and a go-cut race with 100 other go-katers. One v 100, 100, could the world champion pass 100 amateurs?
Starting point is 00:57:45 And she was given the honour. And so we got her into chat about it a couple of weeks back. So I have been lucky enough to work with Rebel New Zealand since probably February. We've done a few cool projects together. We went to the F1 in Melbourne and then also did some work with the supercar drivers. Let's talk serious here because you could technically beat Max Vastapen in a race. But there's 100 people there. Have you been practising?
Starting point is 00:58:06 Yes. So I've been lucky enough to work with. Dan Frum came over. So we were in electric cars last week. And they're meant to be faster than the petrol ones. Yeah. So I was following his lines and he was teaching me a lot. So does he start last?
Starting point is 00:58:18 So there's qualifying the day before and then, yeah, Max starts behind. So my goal is to be like midfront. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So qualifying is going to be the key because you want to, you don't want to be stuck in that midpack because then there'll be some real shit drivers in there. So the race was actually on Disney Plus live. And we spoke to her after the show yesterday. She was doing a bit of a publicity run.
Starting point is 00:58:38 So we got a bit of an update on how she went. I will inform you before we get to that chat. Dan, midway through the chat, started doing car noises. That's what I wanted you to do in the chat, actually. Oh, piss off. You threw me under the bus in front of Taylor Saraj, who you know I think she's awesome. I think she's cool.
Starting point is 00:59:05 She went over to the UK race, Max Verstappen. My dream. All I wanted was to be, no, my dream is to race, Max for Stepan. Clint, I'm married. This ride's closed. I just wanted to come across cool And you completely Why do you want to come across cool in front of the hot girl?
Starting point is 00:59:25 It doesn't matter if she was hot or not. There's nothing to do with that, actually, to be honest. May I reiterate, yet again, this ride's closed. Yeah, so what, your wife's the only one who gets the rider? Exactly. Yeah. But that ride still needs maintaining. Someone's got to grease the wheels every now and then,
Starting point is 00:59:41 just to make sure everything's, you know? And let's be honest, they are quite greasy. Yeah. Okay. Quite squeaky. Next, you let me know. No, whether or not you think Dan is flirting. And whether or not...
Starting point is 00:59:51 Honestly, please be honest, because I don't think I was. And I wasn't... There was no chance. Is she impressed by the car noises that Dan makes during the chat? Get you Clint McGinn and Dan fix. A hundred amateur races taking on Formula One champion, Max Verstappen, and a go-kart race. We spoke to her ahead of the race,
Starting point is 01:00:12 and we spoke to her after the show yesterday to find out where she'd qualified in the... pack and how the race went. Qualifying, we went out. I was in the first morning group and someone spun out in front of me and I got yellow flagged in my flying lap and so
Starting point is 01:00:28 it's just fun times now. That's a shame so someone else ruined it for you. After that I qualified 49. I mean, if you've seen the footage of the actual race with Max there's a lot of people saying that he's got a faster car. He is so quick off the line and just you can just tell his prowess
Starting point is 01:00:47 as a driver and as cornering. Do you think Max's car was faster than yours? No, 100% not because so there were some drifters and some really good drivers in the 100 and they, after the race they were like, oh no, I have my foot on the left tire with the gas down, ready to go. So people were like launching,
Starting point is 01:01:03 knew how to launch the car. And so Max shunting his car forward. And then people like weren't pressing the gas quick. Like our reaction times are not Max's reaction times. Yeah, right. So yeah, watching, that was the money shot him coming through. And even at starting at 49 I thought I'd have one lap and then he would get like the bottom 50
Starting point is 01:01:22 because I made it through the first corner the second the third and then you can see me in the footage I'm going to do like a little thing but you can see him overtake me and I'm just like oh clapping well done what he laps was the race in total so he got everyone in like 32 or 33 laps and when did he get you if you're middle of the first lap first lap first lap yeah I made like four corners but yeah pretty incredible the people that were involved speaking of incredible Have you ever heard the car noises that Dan can make? No, Clint. This is so embarrassing.
Starting point is 01:01:53 No. Do it flyby. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's so embarrassing. Taylor is really cool. I'm not doing my car noises in front of... Give us a road tree. Do you know...
Starting point is 01:02:02 No, I don't. Do you know Taylor, when Dan was young, true or false, he would drive around in a invisible car and he'd make the noise and he'd literally pick up chicks. And then I'd get into my imaginary car. And then he'd drive them a... around the school in his imaginary car. But you've been a car guy since we back. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:21 So why don't you pretend you're in primary school and you're driving around your invisible car and then Taylor will let you know if the sound is good enough that she would have got into the back of it or not? Yeah, I go quite red during that one. Then you want to hear a monster truck. I've already lost her.
Starting point is 01:03:04 The lady from Red Bulls would, like, honestly, it's the most embarrassing moment of my life. She's like, oh, we were going to get you to do something for Red Bull. one day, but never again now. I'm based on your reaction, your face. I reckon if you're in the same primary school, Dan, you'd be like, Mom, can I change schools?
Starting point is 01:03:25 What was this boy that won't leave me alone with a stupid car? What area of New Zealand was this private? How at college. Oh, that's not, oh, yeah. East. Yeah, I could also do planes as well. Oh, incredible. She's not getting in your visible plane, your invisible car,
Starting point is 01:03:40 your visible anything. Yeah, okay, you could leave whatever you want, Taylor, sorry about this. You know what, I feel bad. I think I did you a disservice of making you. You do that, Dan, now in hindsight. Oh, you think? Jesus.
Starting point is 01:03:50 Taylor Saraj, give her a follow on Instagram. Follow her journey because no doubt this is only just the beginning. Wow, thank you guys. Yes, Taylor. Oh, what's that? Oh. That's right. It's all right, man.
Starting point is 01:04:07 I'm not talking to you anymore. So what? She unfollowed you. Who cares? You don't need her to follow you. I'm in a huff now. I'm going home. You can't.
Starting point is 01:04:16 Meg's not yet. Ben's Meg back. Shed stick up for me. All right, it is New Zealand's most expensive cup of coffee. It's in Rook and Christchurch. I'm not sure if it's a publicity stunt. The beans are from Panama, and we have Marco, who is going to be trying to get us a chat with the owner to find out what the hell is going on
Starting point is 01:04:32 because they don't have a contact number, so we haven't just send an edge employee to try and ambush the cafe. I hope Marco's good on here because he's doing the rest of the show with you, mate. Let me just check if he's there. Clinton and Marco. Marco! Hello guys, how you going?
Starting point is 01:04:48 No, you missed a polo, man. The Edge is the home of Clint McGahn. Clint McGahn. We got Lucy from the night show filling for a sick meg this morning. How much is too much to pay for a cup of coffee these days? I'd say I was charged 750 for one recently and I said no thanks and walked off. So I'd say anything over like seven bucks is a bit much. Yeah, 10.
Starting point is 01:05:09 10 for me, I reckon. 10? More like oat milk and a vanilla shop. Once you're adding a few bits and bobs, then maybe the price hikes up. But for a bog standard coffee, $6.50. Well, at least five people paid $100 for a cup of coffee in Rook's Cafe in Christchurch. The Bean comes from Panama. It fits the ultimate premium category, scoring a 96.2 out of 100.
Starting point is 01:05:31 They reckon they've only got enough for about 15 cups, so you might be out of luck if you're trying to get amongst the Panama Bean today. Well, our Christchurch Roadrunner, Marco, is standing right outside the Rook Cafe in Christchurch. It sells the $100 coffee there, Marco. Good morning, team. How are we doing? Good, mate. Now, there is a chance.
Starting point is 01:05:52 If you walk in there and say, well, from the edge, we're doing this live on air for a bit of promo, they might give you a free $100 coffee. And then you can do a live taste test. If there's only 15 left, Dan, I'm not sure that they'll be able to do that. You might have to squeeze out some of the budget. Maybe ask Boss Jack if there's anything in there.
Starting point is 01:06:10 Mate, we did. And he said not a chance. And I got Macona. I got to try three Macona coffees. You know what I do? I'd do. Go in there, Marco, and mention the good Clinton Randall name. The squeaky clean image. I'll have to go.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Okay, Marco, what we'd like to do is we'd love to chat to the owner because there's no contact number for this cafe so we haven't been able to try and reach out to find out how things are going. So we thought, right, if we have to, we'll just send you in and go, hey, look, could I please speak to the owner? And then just say, Clint Dan, want to chat to you on the edge. Surely the publicity is good publicity. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Okay, so you go in the EU. You know what? I'll have a go just for you guys. They are looking like their full tilt at the moment to be fair. I think it's Kyle, who's the manager behind the espresso bar there, but I'll have a go. Okay, good luck, Marco. Good luck. Remember this will make or break your career this cross.
Starting point is 01:07:01 Absolutely. Hey, Kyle, is it Kyle? Were you free for a chat at all? I've just got Clint McGinn-Den-Darn on the edge. They might want to have a chat to you. Is that all good? maybe five minutes? Yeah, that'd be great.
Starting point is 01:07:17 Yeah, all good. All right, guys, did you hear that? Yeah. What do you say? I think five minutes, and Kyle said he might be able to come out and have a chat to you guys. In five minutes.
Starting point is 01:07:27 Oh, mate. If you've got some time for us. What we could do, we could just sit here for five minutes, but a lot of people, he's actually not just keeping us away and he's keeping New Zealand waiting. Could he do it in one? He, honestly, he's looking like a busy man,
Starting point is 01:07:40 and I don't know how many hundred dollar coffees he's getting out. But if that's what's on his order list, he might have to be getting that out pretty quickly. Paying the picture for us there, Marco, like how big's the queue? Obviously it's a very popular cafe. They've been talked about in the news a lot. How many patrons are there?
Starting point is 01:07:58 Yeah, I was here just before 8 o'clock and honestly, it was feeling a little bit more cozy and a little bit quiet. There's probably 4 or 5 people here. And then honestly, at 8 o'clock from then on, it's been booming. Like, they've had 15, 20 people through just, yeah, pumping.
Starting point is 01:08:12 out coffee. Tell Kyle, we think it's being five minutes. Say Clinton, Dan, think it's being five minutes. Could you take a call now? And Radio Land has been 10. I think he's still on the machine and he's talking to customers, so I'm not too sure if it'll be free right now. Do you know right now, the Rook Cafe owner
Starting point is 01:08:29 and Christ is just pulling their hair out going, Carl, answer the phone, mate. I'm a bit nervous that the manager can't multitask. Can you not make a coffee and talk at the same time? Yeah, anyway. I think he's already doing it, but it's to some of the other patrons. It's not me.
Starting point is 01:08:44 I'm far down the list already. Five customers, they're busy. Well, supposedly, one of the five people that did try the $100 cup of coffee said it was, quote, really nice. Which is positive, isn't it really? I mean, sure. Okay, what we're going to do, Marcus, we're going to play a song, which is going to be a three-minute song. And then after that, we're going to come back and have this exclusive interview with the manager of the cafe. Okay.
Starting point is 01:09:09 Yeah, stay there. God, nothing that this guy, Kyle, Kyle, can. say is going to be worth the way I don't feel. Oh no, I've got high hopes. All right, back in three minutes. Edge Breakfast, Clint McGintan Dan. Edge. Every Corp wins.
Starting point is 01:09:23 Electric Avenue edition. Yeah, we call it wins 6 a.m. till 10 a.m. tomorrow. If you get on the show for anything, we'll send you a double pass and get you along to Electric App for free. No doubt they'll probably be sold out by then, too, because they go on sale the day before Thursday, midday. Yes. Okay, let's see if Marcos managed to get us a...
Starting point is 01:09:42 a chat with the manager at Rook Cafe in Christchurch. They're selling coffee for $100 a cup. Okay, it's been five minutes, Marco. How are we looking? We're looking pretty good. I've got Kyle here, who's one of the managers. He's on standby. I've pulled him away from the coffee machine,
Starting point is 01:09:57 and we're all waiting in anticipation. Tell him to put his monster energy drink down, and we'd love to chat. Okay. We'll do. Yeah, like now. Okay, cool. Here he is.
Starting point is 01:10:09 There he is. Morning, Mark. Hello, how's it going? Hello. There he is. She's a busy man, mate. So what was your name? I'm Kyle.
Starting point is 01:10:18 Kyle, and you are the manager of the cafe, a rock cafe that is selling the $100 coffee. Sell it to us. Why should I spend $100 on a coffee? Well, it is some of the rarest and highest quality coffee that you'll probably ever be able to find or taste, especially here in New Zealand. And, I mean, if you're into your coffee,
Starting point is 01:10:40 it's an opportunity that is hard to part. by sometimes. How many of you sold this morning Mark, sorry Kyle? We haven't sold any this morning but yesterday we sold six. That's pretty good. Damn. That's pretty good. I can't complain about that. What's the markup? Do you know on the coffee? Like how much you're making per cup? It's actually not that much. Right. We kind of worked out like if I was to charge it using my normal kind of like, you know, formulas for it, it'd probably be more like $250 a cup. Wow, so you're saying the $100 cup of coffee and crash which is actually a bargain. You're losing money from it. Honestly, I've seen people in the comments from overseas rotaries and stuff saying that this is a bargain basement deal.
Starting point is 01:11:24 Wow. Okay, well, I mean, maybe you go in with a couple of mates and split the cost, just to say you've tried it. If I came in today with my friend Clint and we got two straws, would you still charge us 100 bucks? I mean, I would. I would have to. Okay, so no free taste test. but if you do want to try New Zealand's most expensive coffee, Rook Cafe and Christchurch.
Starting point is 01:11:45 Thank you, Cole, for chatting with us, mate. All the best, hopefully you're not to run off your feet. I know. She'll be right. Yeah, thanks, mate. And thank you, Marko. Appreciate it, mate. We will push on.
Starting point is 01:11:59 But anyone desperately want to try it? I really want to try it. I really do. I want to know how long it keeps you stimulated for. Like, you wouldn't need a second coffee after it, surely. Yeah, surely. I think I'd be kicking goals if I had that. Hope so anyway.
Starting point is 01:12:12 Thank you so much for a chat. I really appreciate it. But, you're welcome. Do you guys have like a contact number or something? Yeah. Clint Randall, 0-2-1. Do not charge it to my account, Marco.
Starting point is 01:12:24 Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Schools love to ban stuff, don't they? You know, they're always the fun police. Baden smoking phones. Ushes? I think it was the latest one.
Starting point is 01:12:38 God, what can't you do? Anyway, over in Australia, They've banned What some schools are looking at Anyway Lucy Banning handstands Why? Well the Fun Police have reportedly
Starting point is 01:12:48 Infiltrated some Victorian primary schools Banning cartwheels And handstands in the playground Is it because they're like hitting people when they fall over or what Like it's a risk? I don't know how long their limbs are I think it's more
Starting point is 01:13:05 Protecting them from hurting themselves But really? It's a handstand mate You've got to learn though Like if you're not strong enough to hold them up your own body weight. You find out quick that you're not a carwork person. What happened to the school of hard knocks? That's where I went. Yes, where I went? Look at me.
Starting point is 01:13:18 I think people have become too precious with their kids and that's the thing. It's like, oh, my kids come home with a bump on his head. Who did it? What was the issue? Was it a handstand? It's your fault you should have protected him. But where do you draw the line then? If you can't do a handstand or a cartworks, you might hurt himself. Do you get rid of the jungle gym? Do you get rid of the slides? Do you get rid of the stairs?
Starting point is 01:13:35 Yeah. Like, mate, how far does he go? Get rid of the stairs? One is an elevator. Yeah. I mean, maybe. That's next. Who knows? I remember when I was at school, how at college
Starting point is 01:13:45 represent. They banned them. Remember those shoes, weelies? They had like the little heel thing in there and you could cruise around. Light up as well? Yeah, yeah, and they'd light up. They banned them because some Gumby twat skated into a window and smashed it.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Really? And so we ruined it for everybody. It's always one person that ruins it. They ended up banning like large dollar bills at the tuck shop, like 50s and hundreds. stuff because what rich school did you go to where kids
Starting point is 01:14:14 were running around with like Rolids in their pockets turns out they were a counterfeit and there were people in the school making really good counterfeit $50 notes and then in the business
Starting point is 01:14:24 of a tuck shop handing them over and then they found out so they just got rid of it and said you've got to pay with card or bills under $10. Wow. Yeah I remember that and I was like what?
Starting point is 01:14:34 Because they'd go and buy some five bucks give them a fake $15 and get $45 in real cash. Clint did go to school when cash was king. No such thing as EFoss back then. What about you? Can you think all the way back to last year when you were in schoolers? Oh my God, it's been three years now. They've been slime in primary school because everyone was touching it and germs were getting everywhere and all the parents.
Starting point is 01:14:52 Like, oh my God, my son's come home with a rash. And then in high school, some girls got caught vaping in the bathroom and they had to put, not mirrors. They had to put cameras in the bathroom. Oh, that's sort of a house in the bathroom. That's what I thought. I know. You definitely car but cameras and girls' bathrooms in school. Well, that's what we thought they were.
Starting point is 01:15:12 Yeah. Like, not in the cubicles, obviously, but in like the part where... And the smoke detectors would go off. And then, like, the teachers that were, like, on duty would run in with their high of his vest and be like, who's vaping? And then look under the stool and you're just sitting there taking a purse. We had a warden too. It was like the policeman of the school, but he had no actual authority with the law.
Starting point is 01:15:29 Yeah. What was banned at your school? Maybe it is up there with your handstands, your cartwheels. I think that's ridiculous. There's normally one person that you're right. That's ruined it for everyone. So it might have a story. if you've got a story for what was banned in your school.
Starting point is 01:15:42 Usually it's just something fun. They don't want kids having fun anymore, do they? No, they're evil. Oh, 800 The Edge. What was banned? Cartwheels is crazy, though. Hopefully not the stairs. How do you even police that? Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like.
Starting point is 01:15:57 Clint McGon Dan. The Edge. What is banned in your school in some Australian primary schools? They're banning cartwheels because they're too dangerous. He's gone mad. Somebody digs it. I found this one really funny. our school band clapping during assemblies
Starting point is 01:16:15 because, you know, we've done this where everyone wants the last clap? So you clap in a water, you think clapping would stop, you'd need one more clap, then one more clap, then one more clap, so they just band it.
Starting point is 01:16:26 Isn't that positivity and a bit of fun though? I like that. Yeah, not the teachers, though. We got four square band at our school. You try to keep it in the four locks, but then people started getting bullied and like weren't allowed in each teams. Like Hamble.
Starting point is 01:16:38 Like Hamble? Yeah, but yeah, Hamble. Oh, people got that. I used to live by four square. at my school. Did you play the Pokemon sounds on where each time you hit the ball you go like Rightchu Pikachu
Starting point is 01:16:49 Squirtle No, no whatever You're Unrelatable I can never look at you the same now That was the ick On so many different levels Nikita Maybe you can move us on
Starting point is 01:17:02 In Ashburden what did they blame Innings so banning your school Nikita They banned the Oshies Oh yeah My kids school they banned them as well Why have they banned them as well? They're crazy.
Starting point is 01:17:14 The kids are stealing them from other children's bags and things, so they just got out of hand. How do you feel about it? Is that your kid in the background? Yeah, that's my... He's my kindergartner, but I didn't mind. We didn't really collect them because we keep getting the same one multiple times. Yeah. They're good for stress, though.
Starting point is 01:17:31 I have one. I use it every day. And they light in the dark? Yeah, so good. My son, because I've done some stuff with Disney and with Woolworth, he got sent the silver buzz light, you? Like the... Limited edition.
Starting point is 01:17:44 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the first thing you wanted to do was sell it. It was like, what can I get for it? Business brain. You're unrelatable. Connor. Morning, Connor. Morning, May.
Starting point is 01:17:55 What was banned in your primary school? Well, primary school that's going back 30 years, pretty much. Well, not really. One, two, two now. But, yeah, we go ahead. Marbles get banned on us and the Pokemon cards and Yu-Gi-Oh card. I remember, like, Yu-Gi-O and Pokemon cards. Marbles is going.
Starting point is 01:18:12 way back. But I mean, man. All the fun stuff. I guess because they get stolen and in and there's sort of a hierarchical thing with kids, eh, where they've got the coolest one and they bully the one with the cheapest cards. Yeah. Yeah. And also, Ball Rush when Bull Rush was a thing?
Starting point is 01:18:28 Oh, yes, actually, Connor, we've had that come through a lot. Bull Rush being banned. I love Bull Rush. It was like a ride of passage at school to be tackled in Bull Rush on the school field, wasn't it? Oh my God, Amy. I know Amy's a millennial. I reckon if we called her right now, I'd say she sits somewhere between 39 and 41
Starting point is 01:18:44 She said eating Raro sachets dry You know he's just like poor Rarot It was like it was like Sherbet I feel like you can feel the diabetes coming on when you do that Children's crack
Starting point is 01:18:57 Oh my son's schools ban scented pens Oh they sniff it They get like a high off it I think I did that with glue sticks That was a thing of the 90s A scratch and sniff Like when you think about it Quite disgusting
Starting point is 01:19:09 I remember used to get scratch and sniff stickers from the teacher. Wow. Megan's text through and Megan has said that they banned utensils. They went to an all-girls school and a knife was pulled
Starting point is 01:19:21 so then they just got rid of all sporks and knives. Really? That's so prison of you. What are you eating your rice with or whatever? Chopsticks. I didn't know. I only know how to use them
Starting point is 01:19:33 when I was 10. Yeah, true. And someone else even had football banned because one of the teachers ended up getting their coffee knocked out of their hand by a football So they just banned it. Oh, that is pathetic.
Starting point is 01:19:43 Another Millennials text through by MP3 player and iPod were banned. They're at least a 2005 hit. Yeah, chewing at full rush. Oh, Jelly Crystal's banned. Yeah, that was, yeah, probably after they got rid of Raro and we found a loophole. Jesus. Lanyards were banned at Kelsey's school. What haven't they banned?
Starting point is 01:20:01 Karen wasn't happy with the lanyards one. She couldn't clasp them. I still think the Aussie primary school is banning cartwheels, which is what stemmed this conversation, is the craziest. Starting point is 01:21:16 Oh, yeah, they love with up a bit of peppermint. Yeah, the sweetness. They must have minty fresh breath. Yeah. Because they love peppermint. That was good. That was good, too. Well, Janelle from Tohanga has putting a hand up saying,

Starting point is 01:21:46 I would ever clean Like I live in a rental To be fair I don't know in the house I live in So he's not gonna do it So I'm like they're not my windows
Starting point is 01:21:54 Why should I clean them That's my view Don't you want to see out of them though Yeah you can still see out of them If you squint If you look through the Fingerprints and Bird poo

There's just a grubby little marks and smudges and kisses on the windows and, you know, all of that lovely stuff. And they rub their snotty noses all over it, eh?
Starting point is 01:22:21 You could kind of clean the windows from about five feet upwards. You know, I feel like where they can't reach. And then at least for you, it's nice and for them. It's all murky. Exactly. That's a great idea. Maybe I should try that. Well, thanks for it, Middness.
