Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Take the edge off your mornings with Clint Meg and Dan. Good morning, it is. One to six on your Tuesday, 6th of October, second week of school holidays. Morning. Good to hear, good to see you this morning. Meg's already got off on a bad foot this morning because she came in and they're in a little, in a stool to mirror.
Starting point is 00:00:20 It's disgusting. It makes me so angry. They took my couch out. So we had a couch here as of yesterday that I could just sit on the couch after the show's done. We'd do our meetings. Couch is gone. She'd lay on there like we're painting you're like, well, nobody's torn me.
Starting point is 00:00:32 And then I walk in. We drew one-time nude and the boss gets rid of it. Sorry, if you could imagine this, it's 5 in the morning and you get up, you go to work, you got into this job because you didn't have to worry about what you look like. That's all changed because of bloody cameras and stuff now. I walk in the first door to the studio and they've got a huge life-size mirror set-up. So the first thing you see is yourself. I don't mind.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Of course you didn't. 5 a.m. Bad lighting as well. It's so terrible lighting. I've turned it around. I'm not having it. Jack, expect an email. So you're not allowed to look at yourself,
Starting point is 00:01:05 but Clinton and I still have to. No, no, it's too. I'm turning it around. No, he means I look at you. Oh, that's... I think you look quite lovely today. You do. You've done something different with your hair.
Starting point is 00:01:15 I know, it's very curly. It's gorgeous. It's just natural. Oh, sorry. Yeah, it's just natural. I looked at myself in the room and I thought, who the hell is that ugly prick? And I realized it was me.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Yeah, so that's... I've turned around for the both of us. Clint, we can put it in your corner if you like. Although we don't want to have distracted a morning dad. No, he'll just be looking at himself all day. All right. Hey, I'm your chance to win a trip to Sydney with Harry Stiles.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Meg will tell you how you can do that coming up at 6.30 this morning. Also, your chance to get your hands on Olivia Dean tickets after 7.30. And Jack Tame later in the show as well, New Zealand's favourite son. He'll tell you who you need to vote for in the election that's coming up. He makes the election, which I know can be boring for a lot of people and switch off. He makes it quite interesting, doesn't he? And I don't know who the hell I'm voting for this year. I'll let you know what you should be doing there next.
Starting point is 00:02:07 The Edge. The Edge is the home of Clint McGendown. The Edge. Time for a little coffee catch-up, see what's been going on in each other's lives. I have one of those moments where somebody said to me, you can use that on your radio show. Oh, it's normally not good. It's normally a bit of a hit or mess. I reckon one out of ten times it's good.
Starting point is 00:02:28 And it's normally worse when somebody goes, now don't use this on your radio show. And it's like, I was never going to. Oh, you're doing that. They say that, though, it's really good and you wish you could have. I'm like, oh, come on. Even if I change your name. Not if it's a family member for me, they go,
Starting point is 00:02:43 and this isn't for the show. And at the end, you're like, you know, shit, it's not. It's terrible, mate. It's okay. It's okay. All right. So is this a head or a mask, Clint? Well, there was a lot of drinking involved.
Starting point is 00:02:54 So you have to, I guess. When is they not with you? Yep. Keep that in mind. and she threw out a stat and I was actually surprised by the stat I didn't think it was going to make the show but here we are
Starting point is 00:03:07 out of the blue you're just drinking talking about friends I don't know Have you fact tested it? Yeah I have Okay so it's true She goes Do you know how many episodes of Mr Bean
Starting point is 00:03:19 were actually in late? Oh yeah I have heard of this fact Is that like four? Yeah there's not many It's way less than you think It's like four or five Not including obviously
Starting point is 00:03:27 the movies when Mr. Bean goes on holiday and stuff. But between the years of 1990 and 1995, so five years, everyone knows Mr. Bean. You're like, man, they must have ripped out some episodes. Do you know he was one of, in fact, voted one of the most fake, he'd be a good one for A-lister, actually, Mr. Bean. Because he was one of the most famous people on the planet. Mr. Bean was syndicated into like 107 countries or something.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Mental, right? I mean, even my kids will watch Mr. Bean cartoons on, like, YouTube and stuff. So he obviously made a very large impression She told me how many episodes they had made Of Mr Bean I said that can't be right It's not enough Clint, just tell me how many
Starting point is 00:04:06 How many do you think? Four? You think they made four or five Because I've heard this before I think it's like seven Okay well then You know it turns out Maybe he did make a lot of episodes
Starting point is 00:04:15 Because it's twice as many as that Oh 14 Yeah 14 to 15 Oh it's way that's eight 15 episodes I just wait Oh I missed a lot there Oh my money
Starting point is 00:04:25 Mr. Bean. Over five years, three episodes. Mr. Boone. What do you mean? I thought it was like four. Three episodes a year for five years. You don't think anyone would know who this dude is. It's quite good.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Bean. No, when Dan thinks he's got a new impression. I've nailed one. I've got another one. So now I've got Michael Kane and Bean. When Dan Lixie's now one, it becomes the bane of our existence because Dan just practices to see if he can add it to his repertoire. Mr. Bean.
Starting point is 00:04:54 it's good that is good Teddy beer like how is teddy beer? Yeah It's pretty good And he doesn't say much else So it's pretty good Yeah
Starting point is 00:05:02 That's all anyone That's all he does Actually can I say Clint's is better now Fucker he is actually quite good enough He does the face as well He actually looks a bit like Mr. Pinkhead Get your Clint McGinn back Fix
Starting point is 00:05:13 For the first time Oh Dan that's not right Leave it to me mate Oh piss off Clint Clint Every time Okay
Starting point is 00:05:24 Anyway, it's this one. No! Okay, you can do it now. Sorry, I had a couple of goes. Hello, stranger. I don't know this his kid's first time calling us. Is this the first time they've called us, Carl? No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Producers car? No, it's not. Do you want me to come in and push the button? Well, don't tell me it's a first time caller because then otherwise I'll get that. First call of a day! First call on the day! Morning, Finn, you're not a first time caller, but we love you nonetheless. How are you, mate?
Starting point is 00:05:52 Morning, fellas, and ladies. Thank you. Thank you so much for that. Appreciate that, not being lugged in as a fella. Great news for you, Finn, because you've called this week, and it wasn't last week, MTF financier our new sponsor, and they've just given you $100 cash for joining us on the show this morning, bro. Thank you very much. That's much appreciated.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Now, before we get into your fact that is about platypuses, brilliant. Who was it platterpussi? Oh, I don't know. Oh, I don't think it's platy pussy. I think it's platterpussy. All right. Carl, you've spoken too much on the breakfast show this morning. We're turning your mic off. Turn in my mouth.
Starting point is 00:06:26 It's all being smut. Right, Finn, go on. That platypuses don't actually have nipples. They secrete milk out of their skin. What? So if they're feeding their babies, the babies just lick mum wherever. Just like a cheesecloth that you're squeezing out. Yeah, it must be out of their paws, their feet.
Starting point is 00:06:45 The feet? Platerpuses are an interesting creature, aren't they? Because you look at them on face value, they're like a otter. But then they've got a beak like a duck. And they've got webbed feet like a dut. duck. So they're half duck. And they also lay eggs, right? Like for their babies. They're not like mammals. I'm looking
Starting point is 00:07:00 at it out. It's absolutely fascinating Finn. Well, let me show you a picture boy. Look, it really is like, it secretes out their tummy and their feet and the little babies just like have a little schmorgs board. Oh, and they just go to town just having to lick wherever. It is actually quite disgusting if you look at the photos.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Really? Yeah, find it quite odd. I think it's amazing. They're incredible creatures though, aren't they? Imagine if that was us. if we didn't have nipples and ladies just to secret a milk milk half their tummies aren't they only from Australia as well
Starting point is 00:07:31 we have a look for you well this is your fact but now we're getting outside of Finn's knowledge Finn's come with a fact and some questions I didn't know that was going to happen come on Meg he's giving you something
Starting point is 00:07:43 now you give him something they're native exclusively to Eastern and South Eastern Australia okay now Meg Google this are they half duck half Half otter. And I'd love to know
Starting point is 00:07:54 Are they aggressive in nature? Because they look like you could swim up to one and give it a pat. Oh yeah. Okay, okay. And let me see. So plato posters are not a hybrid animal, not half duck,
Starting point is 00:08:03 half otter. They look more like a beaver, like in the back end. They're very cute. I'm just looking at a photo now. Very cute little thing. And they are, when it comes to their demeanor clint,
Starting point is 00:08:13 they're rather placid and shy. Oh. They're not very aggressive. They're not going to nibble at you with their beaks. Oh my God. And I'm just looking at a photo of a baby one. smaller than a palm of a hand when they're a small baby. Wow.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Isn't that incredible? Well, there you go, Finn. You've taught us something. We've taught you something. It's a win-win. This has been a circle jerk of a fact thing. And we'll move on. Oh, and you're throwing Carla under the bus.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Hey, well, Finn, spend your hundred bucks, mate. Thanks to our MTF finance. Thanks for taking the time and thanks for choosing us and listen to us first, bro. No, thank you. That will go straight to the rejo payment. Thanks you. Nice, thanks, Finn. Actually, Clint, I don't want to lead you astray if you do a go
Starting point is 00:08:52 Australia, which is likely because you have so many holidays. The males can be quite aggressive. They've got venomous glands and spikes on their legs. Oh, okay. So the women are excreting milk and the men are excreted in poison. God, by that point, we're just making stuff up. All right. Shout out to MTF Finance.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Local Lenders across New Zealand with Finance Ready. When you are, this is what's been happening overnight in the world of entertainment. Coming up in scandal headlines. What does Kim Kardashian said about her relationship? But what scares ex-Spiderman, Andrew Garfield, the most. Coming up. Give me with a gossip. Bege scandal this morning.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Kim Kardashian has said that she needed to completely heal before dating again. She was single for five years before she started dating with Hamilton. Five years, she said completely. And I thought this is super interesting. It's the first time I've ever really seen it from her. But when she was asked about her relationship with Lewis, her reply was, I'd rather not talk about him in the politest way possible. That's great.
Starting point is 00:09:49 It seems from the outside looking in They seem very happy, don't they? Don't they? She's got a type, though, eh? But Lewis, I don't know how any relationship could work With a Formula One driver, early relationship. Because he's away constantly. They're constantly on the road.
Starting point is 00:10:02 When I was looking at him, like, you know, like Kanye, just this like, like, oozing, from appearance-wise, you know, when you have your type on paper, this, like, cool guy, really into his fashion, quite quirky. Lewis Hamilton is exactly the same. But I think...
Starting point is 00:10:15 But then you got Pete Davidson. Yeah, he was a blip. Yeah. He didn't hang in very long, man. He's not really the time. True, because he doesn't fit that mold, doesn't he? Yeah, no. And what scares Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield, the very most?
Starting point is 00:10:28 Being a dad. Scares the doubt of me. So great. It scares me so much. I think that would be the biggest, most important thing I ever probably do. I know that to be true. It makes me want to cry thinking about it. I know what it's like to be on the other end of it, you know?
Starting point is 00:10:48 You know what I mean? I've been a child. I know, it's really. I've been a son. Yeah, it's true. I thought the same went before I became a dad, but it's really easy. You just put them on a jolly jumper and forget about them.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Yeah. And that's why you have multiple kids, because you're going to mess him up, and that's why the eldest is really the test dummy. And I can look back on my life, and I see that it was different for my younger brother than it was for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:10 I could get many examples, but we don't have time. Exactly, and this is just a scandal break, so play something else. I think it was a nice thing. I think if you were, worried about it before even having kids, you're probably going to be a good parent. Yeah, I agree. It should be something you worry about.
Starting point is 00:11:23 It's not the most important thing. Take it seriously. Sorted celebrating 25 years of helping New Zealanders with money. The Edge. Just hits. In Auckland. The Edge. The Edge.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Clint Meg and Dan. It's actually probably a fun chat maybe for another time, maybe for today. I'm not sure. But like, the differences between eldest child to, like, youngest child in terms of what happened to you and then the different way that they were parented. I remember I got caught driving with a passenger on my restricted during the day, and mum took my keys off me for like a week. And then when my brother would be like 11 p.m, he'd be leaving with like a carload of like mates. And she'd be like, have fun.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Sounds like you're still scarred about it. Still pisses you off. Yeah, but the worst part was, we were coming home from the movies. A mate and there was this car tailgating us. So I'm boosting to try and get away from them. And he was speeding. And they followed us all the way into my mate's driveway. And my mate goes, bro, they're following us.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Let's get out, get ready to fight. And he's ready to scrap this car. And then I hear, Clinton, Randall, give me your keys. Bloody hell. Honestly. We didn't fight her, obviously. Clint McGee and Dan. Edge Breakfast.
Starting point is 00:12:29 The Edge. The Edge. The Edge Festi Besties is back. It's us! And this time we could be seeing you and your bestie to see Harry Styles live in Australia. Okay, you've had to make Harry Style signs to show us what you would take and we want the best sort of sign scenario so that hopefully he calls yours out.
Starting point is 00:12:51 That's what he's known to do. Well, the best sign wins the tickets and the flights, isn't it? Absolutely, and then you take it. We would expect you to take it. Well, yeah, I guess so. I guess it's a stipulation in a way, isn't it? Otherwise, why have you made it?
Starting point is 00:13:02 I think so. I think if you win for a sign and then don't go over with the sign, we're going to take those tickets off you. What, Dan's going to go all the way over? I'll fly over there. Yeah, here's a couple of these read out in the past. Says I just found out my cat as cancer
Starting point is 00:13:17 Cat had cancer Anyone cracked up laughing I thought that was interesting The crowd doesn't care right No matter what he says No matter what he says They'll do that Somebody else went to granddad's funeral
Starting point is 00:13:27 The same day as Harry Stiles And you can't time that I imagine they bought tickets a long time ago Maybe that's what Grandad would have wanted Went to my grandmother's funeral today All that had pissed you off how it was the same day I'd be like oh come on all days I'm going to Harry Stiles
Starting point is 00:13:41 I know It'd be really hard I feel as the parent at that point if your kid did react like, well I've got Harry Stiles, it's not fair, that's the same day. Your dad that died, I'd be like, what child have I raised? True. That'd be so hard. I wonder what the parent thought
Starting point is 00:13:55 in that. Okay, so I've got some of the signs so far. This one's from Hannah. It says from baker to heartbreaker and it's a sign of him with photos of him because he used to be a baker. That's not bad. I don't hate that. Because I think he would look at that and go, that's really clever. And it's real
Starting point is 00:14:11 personal to me. Paying homage to who he was back in the day in a different life. And I like the way that she's designed it as well. I have all these been made as well. The people have made the sign. Yes, they all have made. You had to make the sign and then submit a photo of it. You've gone until Monday to do it too, by the way. Text Harry to 334.3 for the link. Artistic merit does come into this as well
Starting point is 00:14:30 because you could have the best line, but it's drawn badly on a piece of card. Yeah, Katrina's done quite a few. One of them is mum for sale here, respect your mother. And then the mum is in the photo too saying certified pre- owned mum, good condition. Oh my God. That's that one there.
Starting point is 00:14:49 Okay, this one I thought was kind of cute. Harry, this is your last chance before I get married. Oh, so she's going, you know, I have a ride on this before this ride closed. Yeah, and then it says made from consent with, from current fiancé. Failed religious education because I thought you were God and then they've made him into a kind of God-looking. Oh, you're like I use AI to make him look like he's Jesus welcoming. you to the pearly gates.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I'm not a huge fan of AI slop, if I'm honest. I've used a bit of slop there. Do you think that's AI? It looks like it. I think they've just did a really good Photoshop of his head on paint onto some other god. I disagree.
Starting point is 00:15:24 I think that's terrible photo. Terrible AI. I'll be your feather bower. Let me wrap my legs around your neck. Jesus. Is he reading that? Hannah, you naughty girl.
Starting point is 00:15:37 He loves a feather boa, doesn't he? I don't know if he's wearing many on his current tour, though. I think that was the love on tour era. I don't think he's wearing these. It's more shorts on this tour. Yeah, this one as well. Australian visa application that it says Eva,
Starting point is 00:15:51 purpose of visit, shopping and seen Harry styles, and then length of stay until Harry tells me to leave. So he's done kind of like a visa-looking one. Oh, yeah. It's creative. It's creative it is. Olive Rose. Yeah, so those are some of the signs so far.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Can we still enter? Yep. It says get your engine before Friday. I like the first one. I think the first one's the leader for me in terms of that. from Baker a Heartbreaker. Do you know what else is, well, they've got photos of Harry
Starting point is 00:16:17 from when he's a baby and then as he gets older and older and older. There's about seven photos as he progressively ages. Likelihood of reading it out, but it might make him smile. I don't know why he'd read that out about himself. It's all also about where you are in the stadium,
Starting point is 00:16:32 I think as well. Like if you're quite close to the stage, and I know the stage is massive on this tour, it goes right in the middle of the arena, doesn't it? Uh-huh. So he could see it. Oh, so you're saying if you're really far away, he might not be able to see you or so.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Unless you've got really big block lettering. I would, yeah, I would say if you heard that and you thought one of those is going to win tickets to Harry Styles and flights and everything, I can do better. Then do it. Yeah. But there's no point if you're going to be far away writing little lettering,
Starting point is 00:16:59 that's what I'm saying, because you need it to make, be big and clear, like, simple as good. So if I show up to Harry Styles with you and I've written it on a piece of A4, you're going to be quite disappointed in me. I definitely will be disappointed. And I'll go, you shouldn't have won this competition. Good to know. Harry to 33443 if you want to get a monster
Starting point is 00:17:15 and have us calling you Monday with the good news that you're going for free. Easy money in 20 minutes. I'll give you the... Have we got the letter? Yeah, no. Just checking now. Then you can start pondering. Yeah, that's a good idea.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Oh, yes, we do. We've got it. F4. Okay. Sorry, I had to mute his mic there. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan The Edge It's Clint Meg and Dan's Let's settle this Let's settle this right now Meg Yes
Starting point is 00:17:50 How often do you wash your undies Every time I wear a pair Oh that doesn't sound like you do What do you mean? No, I'm sorry, Your Honor All the time Every time Every time I'm sorry they came across
Starting point is 00:18:01 I meant that in the way of like Clearly obviously every time I wear a pair Ding ding ding, ding Correct that is the right way to be doing it According to a study In fact sometimes if I have a shower Like in the middle of the day, I won't put my old undies back on. So I sometimes wear two pairs of undies at a day.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Yeah, good. I think if you're showering, you're getting out. You should just put a fresh pair on. You're all the same as a friend of mine. It's a dude as well. He'll do two pairs of undies a day. So you'll change. Swap out his undies in the middle of the day.
Starting point is 00:18:28 How gross having a shower and then chucking on a pair of undies you've been wearing all morning? So how often should you wash different types of clothes? This has come out. Bras surprised me. Because I'm not a bra wearer. But apparently two to three weeks. You could be if you really want to do it. They've got your size.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I've got your size. Hey, I all have you know, Meg. I've been to the gym quite a bit over the last few weeks, and those man boobs are going down. Being replaced with pectorals. Right. Still a little bit there, though. Nice and firm.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Jeans, every six to ten wears. That really surprised me. That is a lot of wears between washes. Yeah, that's true. Especially if you're running a sweaty leg. A sweatshirts five to six wears, I guess, because that's not hitting your skin because you're usually wearing some sort of t-shirt or something underneath it. To me, that's more you've probably got a bit of food on it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:19 You know, a sweatshirt, you probably got something on it. Yeah, and that's me and you. I always spill something on my foot shirt. Bloody oil when I'm working on my car and stuff. I'll pass off, but you have a Tesla. What are you talking about? There might be new listeners. They don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:32 What are you doing getting under the car and fixing the engine? I want to rebrand. I want to be the type of guy that works on my car on the weekends. This one also surprised me, pajamas. say that you only need to wash pyjamas every three to four wears. You're laying in them for like a good eight hours. I think it depends like if you're having a shower just before bed though. Which I do.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Then you are the clean. Although, don't they reckon you sweat like half a cup every day or something or every night? Yeah, I don't wear pajamas anymore because of Dan. Yeah, we, Meg and I both sleep nude now. Not in the same bed. But yeah, he made me try it once and I was like, oh, this is much better. Honestly, try it. If you've never slept nude before, it's a game changer.
Starting point is 00:20:08 It's such a comfortable experience. Every time you roll over, don't you end up rolling on things and getting, I don't know, it's all in comfy. Why don't you talk about rolling on things? You get all tangled up. Is that how, Jesus Christ, Clint? Anyway, so if you know, if you're built like me and not like Clint, give it a go. But the one that really surprised me is it said that you should be washing brand new clothes before you wear them. Oh, your wife does that.
Starting point is 00:20:31 My wife does it and it pisses me off. Because I always say when you buy a new pair of clothes, whether it be a t-shirt, pants, they're never going to be as nice as, the first time you wear them before to wash. Like that crisp white tea. Yeah. Or like a nice pair of denim jeans before they've been washed. I couldn't agree more. Socks.
Starting point is 00:20:49 The same thing, like a fresh pair of socks. Unless you're buying them from Sheen and then have that weird sort of factory smell. Yeah. Well, you don't want to buy sweatshop stuff anyway. I'm pretty sure that's just the tears of young children that have been forced to do labor. So yeah, don't buy them. So yeah, don't buy them. It dries into the clothes.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Yeah, yeah. Right. I don't think that there'd be many people out there that are washing their clothes before they wear and I'm talking brand new clothes. Okay, let's settle this. Are you your type of person that, you know, when you buy a brand new top jeans, dress, you go, I'll wash that first. You definitely don't do it with a dress because most of them, you'd have to dry clean.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Yeah, there's no way. My wife's defences, she goes, I don't know what they did at the factory before I want. What are you thinking they're doing, like rubbing their genitals on? I'm not sure. People trying them on and sore. Your favorite radio show? In podcast form. Edge breakfast, Clint Megan Dan.
Starting point is 00:21:38 It's Clint Megan Dan. And let's settle this. Let's settle this right now. Dan's giving us a list of how often you should be washing different items of clothing. But the shocking one is something that your wife does that you do not. Yeah, they say that you should wash brand new clothes before you wear them. Which I think's just crazy because they're never going to be better than when they're brand new. Do you know how interesting conversation we just had off here with producer Carl?
Starting point is 00:21:59 Because I said, I suppose it depends. What about if people are trying on the shirt in the store and it's being worn by six people before you finally decide to purchase it? That's true. Yeah. So he finds the item that he likes. and then once you decide that's for you, what do you then do? Well, once I've tried on the one near the front of the rack,
Starting point is 00:22:15 then I'll go right to the back of the rack and find it in my size. Or same with like shoes. I'll try on all the shoes that have been tried on by everyone else. And now I'll go through all the boxes until I find the one the paper's crisp, but still got the stuffing inside. I do the same, Carl.
Starting point is 00:22:27 What if it's out the back, though? You know, like when you go to a platypus or something, the boxes are never there quite often. The lady has to go out the back. I've done this, so I've hidden the ones that I've tried on, and I've said, do you have these in a nine? Oh my gosh. Sorry, at 12, I mean, a 12, definitely 12.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Oh, my God, you've got children feet. God, you have small feet. Oh, yeah, me. My goodness. Wow. Yeah, no, I understand that with Carl completely. I like to do the same. You try and find the one that's the least tried on, the least worn.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Yeah. What do you have going for you, Carl? Your ginger, ball? No, no, I'm just joking. Oh, just friends and family, really is what gets me up in the morning. He's got a superb. He's got a super hot wife. He does.
Starting point is 00:23:03 The universe was like, give him something. Yeah, he does. My goodness. Yeah. All right. Leah, what do you reckon? let's settle this. Are you washing brand new clothes after you've purchased them? I mean, my kids' clothes.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Oh, yeah, that's different, eh? Yeah, definitely doing the wash first. I don't know if we did that. You didn't wash your baby's kids? Your wife would have. You just didn't do it. I don't know. I don't remember her to it. I would have said something to her. That's crazy. They're brand new. Yeah, but I think it's different with kids clothes. You don't want, like, the chemicals within the thing to react to their skin so you'd wash them just to be safe. You don't wash your baby clothes before you put them on the baby?
Starting point is 00:23:37 So you're saying my wife would have washed the baby clothes, but then wouldn't wash my clothes. Why am I less important? Because you don't have sensitive of skin. Oh, okay. You're not a newborn baby, you idiot. Sorry, Leah. Yeah, absolutely. It's good to know.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Sorry, Leah, you've had to witness us and bickering. Thanks, Leah. Sharon, do you wash brand new clothes before you wear them? A thousand percent. And I'm with pretty sick how, actually. I'm the same. I go to the back of the rat. You just don't know who's worn them before you.
Starting point is 00:24:03 And then do you... When I've had someone who's had a skin infection, has worn them and that's all on your skin. Okay. Then, are you someone who has never purchased from an op shop? No, no, I do. My mom actually gets a lot for them for my children, for myself. We use them.
Starting point is 00:24:19 I just make sure we wash them before, put them into. I also actually use a laundry sanitizer for our softness. That makes us a softness. Yeah, I've had infections in the past, and you just learned for the doctor that things can come through from quotes that are unwashed because of people who have worn them before. Maybe we've changed the game for a lot of people listening this morning. I may be thinking of now washing clothes before I wear them. But like a crisp, fresh t-shirt, it's never as good as when you first take it home from the store.
Starting point is 00:24:46 Yeah, but Clint, there's some scumbags out there, you know, that have come in with their... With what? Like, it's skin infections and go, good day to go and try it on clothes. Yeah. You never know. You never know. Maybe they've got some sort of fungal infection that I put on a t-shirt before you. That's awful.
Starting point is 00:25:01 I've got a far, sorry, I've got my nipple fungal infection. I'll go shopping. I'll just put on a size. small, medium, large and excel so I can just cover all my bases. But have you got a nipple fungal infection and gone out brawless as well? Yes. It's just a nightmare.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Anyone who's just tuned in? It's like, Mick's got a walk. Coming up for the each breakfast. All right, Easy Money's next. 90 seconds away. Your cut to course. Now, if you want to have a crack at it, the letter is F. Meg will give you 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:25:25 For fungal infection. Yes. Like my nipple. Yeah. Give us 10 answers and the cash is yours. We got close this time yesterday. Did you get some cream for that out of interest? Oh, it's a cream is the pill.
Starting point is 00:25:35 and the whole thing, yeah. It's quite the treatment. I wait under the edge. Easy money. Time for your favorite game. Easy money. Right, the letter is F today.
Starting point is 00:25:48 If you can give us 10 answers in 30 seconds, starting with the letter F, the cash is yours. You just can't like yesterday give us the same answer twice. Yeah, F for Foxtrot if you're into the phonetic alphabet there.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Mark's playing this morning. Hi, Mark. Hi. Hi, Mark. Oh, Mark? Mark. Mark, like Margarita. I thought he said Mark.
Starting point is 00:26:09 And I was like, I've never heard Mark to be a unisex name. Sorry, Mark, Mark, Mark. Although a lot of uni-sex names are coming in now. I know a girl called Neville. So, Mark. Oh, you don't. Interesting. You shouldn't.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Letter Eiff. Baby, little baby Neville. Let her if, ready to go? Yes, thanks. You sound nervous, Marg. Deep breaths. I am. Okay, here we go.
Starting point is 00:26:32 You need to calm yourself. Your time will start at the end of Meg asking you your first question. You got this. Give me an animal. Fox. A number. Five. A body part.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Face. Something that you buy a ticket for. Pass. A country. France. An app on your phone. Pass. Something you can drink.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Center. A gym franchise. Fitness. A work that ends in. Time, Mug. Unfortunately, just not quite quick enough. I think you actually had a pretty good run, but something you buy a ticket for,
Starting point is 00:27:19 we had ridden down a festival, a ferry, a flight. And the app on your phone we had Facebook, or I guess, FaceTime flow of Happy Bird. Facebook was probably the biggest one that you might kick yourself over with that one. And Fitness City sounds like a nightmare. A whole city dedicated to fitness. I'm sure there is a gym out there called Fitness City. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Well, thanks for calling, giving it a crack mark. Appreciate you. Thanks, guys. Have good day. You too. She sounded lovely. She was nervous, wasn't she? She was nervous, sweet.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Back again at 8 o'clock if you want to crack it up for a thousand bucks. Up next, did anyone go to Jason DeRullo last weekend? I've heard it was incredible. I didn't go, but I saw a lot on social. He put his, like he was... Oh my God. Nothing out. So good.
Starting point is 00:28:03 This is the Clint McGinn, Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys off air and a little looser? Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. Did you go to DeRullo? It was not the Saturday, just gone the one before. It was, um, yeah, while we were. were on holiday that first week of school holidays. It was on a Sunday at Spark Arena in Auckland.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Which is not a great night for Jason Duralo, is it? Not really, I guess. Not a Sunday night. Although I suppose it was going to school holidays. So, you know, parents, if they want to take kids, you could push the boat out. I'm not sure whether a lot of people did take their kids. We did.
Starting point is 00:28:33 And I had to cover my son, my nine-year-old son's eyes a few times with some of the dancing and that. Oh, my God. Anyway. Jesus, how bad was it? Oh, well, some of the dancers were, Unlike anything I saw when I was nine Put it that way
Starting point is 00:28:47 But God did he put on a show One of the best concerts I've been to in a very Very very very long time Just bang after bang Yeah He just has such an incredible set list
Starting point is 00:29:03 How? What was the ratio of him having a shirt on To having it off During the concert Well he did outfit changes as well Which I know you're like yeah Women do that But not a lot of male performance
Starting point is 00:29:14 I think going and doing outfit changes and then the backup dancers and then they've got the guy dances and he's doing the synchronised dance move with the old Britney Spears La Pelle Mike he got into a black singlet for the sort of back third of the night
Starting point is 00:29:29 and then he took it off for the last two songs Oh yeah so all the girls got what they wanted but he teased them through the night I'm happy to hear that he did outfit changes I'm bit sick of you know male performers not having to do all the bits of bobs and I like to hear that I remember Clint and I went to Luke Combs the first time he came to New Zealand.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Before he played at Eden Park, I think he played at Spark Arena. Remember that, Clint? And the most interesting thing he did was do a shooey. Yeah, he just walked around with a red cup full of like bourbon and coke, and that was about as animator as the bro got. Phenomenal singer, great music. Love him. But he was just in a black t-shirt, just drinking Jim Beam on stage,
Starting point is 00:30:05 just belting out tunes. Whereas DeRullo, like, you would think he's just walking around stage at times, and then there'd be parts of a song where he would just jump into synchronified. he'd be synchronized with the dancers. He was doing so much. My wife said she saw him drip with sweat from the elbow when he was talking to the crowd. Wow.
Starting point is 00:30:24 And I just thought, are we giving guys a free pass when it comes to concerts and performing on stage and just going, yeah, that's fine. He turns just wearing a black t-shirt. Cool for him. It's like, no. Why is he not doing as much as Taylor Swift and Beyonce? Can I do a little derailed train of thought here
Starting point is 00:30:42 for a second and then come back on? This would be really good for him. hit the spot, by the way, Dan. I reckon Jason Derulo. Have you done one before? Never done a Drullo. Never done a Durulow. I'm open to doing some Jason.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Just planting that little idea to you. I think he would be good. This song in particular, maybe. Yeah, this would be good coming when the trumpets. There's a bit. Just an idea. You're all right, though. I think you're on to something.
Starting point is 00:31:04 I can't name a male artist, apart from Durulow that's doing any costume changes. No. I mean, Harry Stiles did a crazy outfit, but he never changed. Right? Yeah, he'd be one of the few that's actually doing anything
Starting point is 00:31:17 apart from just standing there and singing. Yeah, true. You know, like Ed Sharon, I guess he's doing, he's doing his Luke pedal. So he's doing at least something. But other male artists, they were essentially just standing up the same costume, singing songs.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Yeah. Yeah, and I just feel like for what we now have to pay to go to a concert, and we've got like four incredible female artists that are all coming to New Zealand this month in Lily Allen, Olivia Dean, Hillary Duffin, Zara Larson.
Starting point is 00:31:41 And you can guarantee they're going to be putting on a show. Not just singing their songs. And I think when you're paying 200 bucks a ticket, the expectation is you should go away with this like, all your senses have been satisfied in terms of this incredible performance you've witnessed. Do you know who does do it? Bruno Mars.
Starting point is 00:32:00 He does. Yeah, true. He is one that I feel like is holding the standard of men of performing a big stage show and you feel like you're getting an actual performance. But do you know what I'm going to do a bounce back, I think? There's a photo of Ed Sheron performing with Beyonce that. always sticks in my mind. She's wearing what can only be described as a dress you'd
Starting point is 00:32:18 wear to like the Met Gala. It's huge voluminous, who hears all done, her makeup's all done, and she's singing next to him and he's in a T-shirt and sneakers. And it's just such a juxtaposition to see like how much the standard is of his was totally acceptable, but if she wore a T-shirt and sneakers, she'd, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:34 obviously that would be unacceptable. Yeah, okay. That's a good example. Another great example is from Coachella this year. Sabrina Carpenter. Incredible set. Incredible costume changes, incredible dancing and then Justin Bieber, who sat next to a laptop and did YouTube videos.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Yeah, you're so... All right. I was giving guys a free pass. And is it like, all right, we've had enough. We want Derulo-based performances from all male artists from now on. I think they need to step up their game. Clint McGinn-Tan, Edge Breakfast. Hey, when I saw Jason Durillo, he did
Starting point is 00:33:06 one concert at Spark Arena in Auckland. And he was everything I hoped he would be. And more. It was a phenomenal show, incredible performance. I don't know how many dudes are doing synchronised dance moves to almost every single song with an incredible vocal. Dripping was sweat at the end of it.
Starting point is 00:33:24 The dude left nothing on the table. Somebody texted said, I can't talk on the phone, but oh my God, I was there. He was amazing. Everyone had their own unique thing. The dancers were amazing. We'll also dance in his singing 10 out of 10. Yeah. Good on him.
Starting point is 00:33:36 I think going above and beyond, especially as a male these days, all the girls do it. They're all trying their best. They're dancing, their costume changing. I love this text. Studio, as it's like, you know, saying it's going to us, are men getting a free pass? Because that's the question we're asking? Yes, I don't care what you're referring to.
Starting point is 00:33:53 The answer is yes. She's just going in general. It's in general men are getting a bit of a free pass. Yeah, right. Okay, well, it's not our fault we're men. There are some that are doing it all right. I mean, Michael Jackson back in the day was a, I guess, he was a benchmark that nobody would reach
Starting point is 00:34:11 in terms of putting on a performance. You're so right, Clint. Man, if I'm trying to think of there's, who's the Michael Jackson now? I used to think it was a bit of Jason, but a lot of his stay show stuff is like sexy stuff. And Michael never did sexy. He never did like grinding on stage and female dancers and stuff. He just performed himself. But I mean, I think.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Justin could have been now, I think. I think Justin has the potential. Still does. I just hate how he just stands there now. And people say, oh, he's earned the right to do that. No, keep dancing. We want to see you dancing. I think we should expect more from our male performers.
Starting point is 00:34:42 And I mean, yeah, if it's country and that, a little bit slow, oh, I don't know. Line dance and one of them. Do something, man. Like, I don't know. It needs to be some sort of visual experience when you're asking $200 per person for a ticket to most concerts give or take, right? It also depends, I think, on a little bit what type of performer you are. Say, for instance, you're Adele, okay? She's known for her vocal. She's not dancing, is she?
Starting point is 00:35:07 She's not doing any of that on stage. So she would happily, I'd say, get up in front of a microphone, and you're there to hear her. sing. Absolutely. You're still seeing her dressed up, though. She's not wearing sneaker and jeans. No, she's not.
Starting point is 00:35:18 But I don't think she'd be doing many costume changes. Maybe a couple during the show. Well, there is a list of some of the most luster male performers. Leon Gallagher. Not shocking.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Okay. It's one of them. Oh, but they're a band. It's different for a band. Yeah. Chris Stapleton's in the mix. John May is there at number four. I really love John Mayer, but I think if you're
Starting point is 00:35:39 there and you love the music and slide guitars and there's something, there's a time in place. I want to sit at John Mayer's concert. I want to sit with a chakotery board. I don't think he's dropping it down while he's also got a guitar. That would be impressive. That would be tough. Jack Johnson comes in at number four.
Starting point is 00:35:56 I haven't heard from that dude in a while. Yeah, that's very true. James Arthur, number three. Coming out number two for the most lackluster male performer. George is, right? The funny thing is a lot of these ones, what are they doing now? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:14 And probably, oh, this is bad, but Lewis Capaldi, huge voice, emotional songs, great chat. No dancers, no costume changes. But at least he's a bit of chat, you know, a bit of personality in there. And he's a vocalist. You go to hear him sing. Yeah, like Adele. Like Adele.
Starting point is 00:36:32 But he is the female Adele, isn't he? Yeah, yeah, he is. But again, he wears sneaker and jeans. Could put it on a suit. Yeah, someone else is. Wait, Ben some boons out here trying to do the most. He's doing Spider-Man. And then someone said, and Dan wants him to stop doing the backflop.
Starting point is 00:36:45 I did get a little bit of the ick from Benson Boone. Oh, but he can't win then. You can't have it both ways. You can't say, I want you to dance, monkey. Perform for me. And then as soon as he does, you go, nah, it's a barren baby. He's dressing up for Spider-Man. My two-year-old son does that.
Starting point is 00:36:59 I'm all for encouraging it. Try harder. Do more. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax. The Edge. On the Edge Breakfast, brought you by NTF Finance, your local money experts for personal and business finance. Interesting, you're talking about money and finance
Starting point is 00:37:13 Because that's exactly what my mates are talking about On the group chat at the moment So what, can you give me a little example So I'm going to say something jargony I'm going to be one of your mates And then how do you reply? Yeah, they're talking like, okay The crypto's going crazy with the stocks at the moment
Starting point is 00:37:27 I've bought a few more bits and bobs in the who-wots I'd go Even I know that that's not Okay, I'm trying You'd be like, Chris, I think someone's hacked your account Who is this? I don't think there's such thing as a who-what But hey, okay
Starting point is 00:37:40 Okay, but if that was... If you're investing in who wants, you've gone wrong. I bought six dinglehoppers and all of them have gone down. You could have just played along. I was just trying to set up the scenario as if the language didn't make sense to you. I'm like, use your imagination. Dingleberries have gone up in the last three days.
Starting point is 00:37:56 You're just like... Meg must have chat jealtyed some sort of crypto jargon. No, I didn't even do that. No, free snar. Like, oh, hoagie to toys, he's dropped out the ass. I don't use AI, Clint, stuff you. Right, so we want to talk about what are you trying to pretend that, you know,
Starting point is 00:38:10 the English language. Yeah. What is it for you? Yeah, a couple of my mates have got into crypto. They're just sort of dabbling at this point, but it's just full of the group chat at the moment. They're just like going, oh, dog coins is the way to go. Alt coins.
Starting point is 00:38:22 I'm going into alt coins. Wait, stable coins. And it's just like, I don't care. Do you know what? It's so above me. If they listen to this podcast, they could start trolling Dan. Yeah. Talk about the dingleberries and the who-wots.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Dangled angles. That was show you. Yeah, you know, I bought two of them last week. But I know he didn't, mate. Made it up again. True. I would be none the wiser. Hey, we've got Johnny on 0-800-the-edge.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Johnny, it's your partner and something they're interested in. What are you pretending you know about? Horses. Do you know what? I try and be the better man and try and help, like, get it ready. Yeah. And she's like, get the bridle and the saddle and everything else. Sattle cloth.
Starting point is 00:38:58 And I'm thinking, holy shit, I'll just grab a whole lot of stuff and I hope it's right. Oh, my God. Johnny, you and me both, my wife's also a crazy horse lady. And it's a real, like, baptism of fire early stages in a relationship, isn't it? when they're into horses. Yep, she had oil for the shoes, and I grabbed the oil can, thinking it was what she wanted over there. She'd oil for the oil.
Starting point is 00:39:17 She grabbed the oil can because she said get the oil, so, yeah. I had to clean my wife's horse's hoofs once. Did you? And it was a nightmare. How did you know how to do that? Oh, I just, she gave me like this little apparatus, like this little hook thing, and you like hook all the mud out of the horse's hoof. Well, that would have been so satisfied.
Starting point is 00:39:34 It was satisfying. Are there TikToks that, I reckon there will be TikToks out there that people watch hoof to clean in? Dad's going to ruin my algorithm now. My phone's always listening. Thanks very much. And John, are you into hodgepodgeing or any of that? Do you know what the Bitcoin's doing at the moment?
Starting point is 00:39:51 Nah, I don't either for guys like you, Dan, they know everything, brother. I'm not good. Thanks, John. Thank you, thank you. I just do. If you're mates are making money, I'd just be like, what are you doing? And then you just copy it. You do what they do.
Starting point is 00:40:03 Yeah. I mean, Carl and I are on a group chat with remote control cars. Yeah. But all the dudes in there are remote control car fans. And when I say all the dudes, this is, three of us. I know there are girls out there that are not calling or texting in, and I know you've pretended to be interested in something when you've been trying to pursue a guy.
Starting point is 00:40:22 It's the oldest trick of the book. I did it. But then don't you get found out when the relationship starts getting serious, and then you're like, oh-oh. Once you locked it in, you just kind of go, I'm not interested anymore. Oh, you come clean that you never knew anything about it. Sometimes you can just let them think. Like, I remember my husband was really into midsomer murders, which is a program.
Starting point is 00:40:40 From the UK. And was he a virgin before he met you, but out of interest? Oh, Rich coming from you, buddy. Definitely not. Laura, your son is into something that you have no interest or knowledge in? Yeah, he's into Muay Thai kickboxing.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Yeah. Oh, yeah. So he has been talking to me about spiders for years. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Tell me everything you know about Muay. You've said it away.
Starting point is 00:41:05 That's well, it's moit Thai. Yeah, well, I don't know anything. Mute. I mean, it originates from Thailand, obviously, but I just remembered some of their random names, like Boa Cow, Sukalek, Rod Tang. Yeah. Yeah. So I just
Starting point is 00:41:20 try to remember some of their names and it seems more like I understand. Yeah, but really I have no clue. And that's so important, I feel like parents' number one thing that they can do, not number one, but definitely up there is to show interest in their kids' interests. Yeah. Yes. At all ages. I like that. It was important to them. It should be
Starting point is 00:41:36 important to you. Yeah. Love that, Laura. She's trying. She's trying. Yeah, mutae. Mutai. Muti. It's a new sport. It's like Muay Thai. And Dingleberry cryptocurrency.
Starting point is 00:41:46 We've covered some bases today. Alrighty. You're a chance to get in the draw for Olivia Dean. That is going to be coming up in 10 minutes. Take the edge of your day with Clint Meg and Dan. Edge. This is Clint Megan Dan's, Olivia Dean's. Nice to each other.
Starting point is 00:42:00 If you want to go and see Olivia Dean, it's a sold-out show. We've got a double pass to giveaway. You have to call us up and give somebody a compliment. I don't know. We were away when this got... You know what you could do? Here's what I'd prefer.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Go on. You call up and give one of us a compliment and then the other two an insult. Or is that sort of going against what the... I don't know. It's more our style, I guess. We did get this one. A text and I thought I read it to you, Clint. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:26 I don't want the Olivia tickets, but I still love to give a compliment. Oh, that's clever. And then... Because then we go, that is nice. Let's just send her along. Then she said, sorry, Meg. I know this is your segment, but I know this one's for Clint.
Starting point is 00:42:37 It's not my segment, Gen. actually. Yeah, this is your idea. She's in the email. Clint, you're obviously a very attractive man. Physically, you're not my type. Oh, Jesus. But I find your personality next level attractive.
Starting point is 00:42:50 That might be a first. You're funny, kind, so sweet and open-minded. You're generous, you're friendly, you're intelligent. I could go on and on, but I just love listening to you in the morning. And if the world had more men like you, it would be a better place. Thank you for being you. So she likes you despite your looks. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Is that great him? Gina. Oh, Jenna. She's like, I'm looking past your ugly nature to your personality. She likes you to spite how, like, she doesn't find you attractive. How good that? Gina, you sweet, sweet girl. That's lovely.
Starting point is 00:43:19 That is lovely. That's so lovely. All right, let's go to the phone. Sophia, who are you going to give a compliment to? Meg, you were so gorgeous. I love your smile. I love your laugh. Oh, thank you.
Starting point is 00:43:31 This is just what she wanted. This is the reason she came up with the segment. Did you have a compliment for Dan? No, I don't need one. Let's go on to the love. And you're funny, and also you don't miss the spot. Oh, now that is. It's more waste than one, eh?
Starting point is 00:43:43 No. No. You can't do that with Lick as that is definitely cheating. Sophia. You're in the draw, Sophia. You are in the draw, Sophia. And Latisha, morning. Good morning, team.
Starting point is 00:43:55 How we going? Bloody good, Lettisha. Yeah, so I thought that we had to be nice to one and then roast the other two. Oh, like Dad's idea. I like this. This is my type of person. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:07 So I'll start with the roast, I feel like. Clint has Big Dad at the Barbecue who won't stop telling the same story energy. Yeah, God, you've nailed him there, Patricia. Yeah, he does too. And Dan, I would compliment you too, but I am trying to win Olivia Dean tickets to not make miracles happen. Oh, stuff, stuff you, Letitia. Piss off. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:44:29 You're not in the draw now. Don't listen to him. And Meg Trying to think of something You are definitely got to get the compliment Because you're effacently funny And seem like someone I'd really want to hang out with And I know, sorry, it's not your idea for the competition
Starting point is 00:44:51 Thank you for understanding that, Latisha That's actually Meg's favourite compliment People that find her funny It's very true, Clint It's very true How are you laughing with her and not at her, that petition? I'm still laughing. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Thanks, Latitia. You're in the drawer. Let's do one more in the drawer, quickly, quickly. Hedda, quickly, what's your compliment? Well, I was in the same boat as Latisha. I thought we had to give two compliments. Well, I've got two compliments in one row. Oh, good, okay.
Starting point is 00:45:22 You're lovely. Well, actually, my two compliments are both for Megan Clint. I think you're both really inspirational parent. And I'm just chopped liver. No, I think it's really great qualities, but unfortunately I can't think of any right now. You know what, Hannah, I think you're a piece of work as well. And Dan has a kid. We do have this one saying Clint, I love her resilient.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Oh, I think Hayden's on. Hayden, one for Clint to end on. I love to have resilient Clint is despite being most bullied on the show. Oh, that's a kid. He's not going on. That's the last time we finish on Hayden. Oh, you'll be gutted. He loves it when we do that.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, that's really cool. Actually, I'm enjoying this way more. Okay, well, Dan is due for a compliment. Dan's due for a compliment tomorrow, guys. I want all Dan compliments tomorrow, please. I don't want one. Yes, you do.
Starting point is 00:46:17 No, I don't. Yes, you do look at you. You want a compliment. Hey, producer, Carl, can you print out Jenna's text, please, so I can put it on the walk here in the studio. Please wrap it up. Absolutely. Thanks, buddy.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Listen to your favorite breakfast show, whenever you love. like Clint Megan Dan. The Edge. Clint Megan Dan, what does your name say about you? Say my name, say my name. Meg's got a list. I know Karen's copped a lot of flack for a number of years. And then maybe it was the Karen's that tried to push that negativity onto Jessica's.
Starting point is 00:46:45 But like Meg said, it didn't really stick. I think Karen's have had it for long enough. I know a couple of lovely Karen. Same. I actually think it's gone like full circle. Well, like a 180 now. I think Karen's can be lovely. This is, these are what people think about your name.
Starting point is 00:46:59 And this is why it feels so important when you're naming your child because you don't realize that there are connotations to a name. If you hear Dave, there's name's Dave, you instantly, without even knowing it, probably start creating a sort of personality type of them. I doubt there'd be many newborn Karen's in rocking round, eh? No, no, I think that name is, in fact, about to be extinct. All right, let's go Dave.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Dave first. Dave, he has owned the same barbecue for 14 years and considers himself the family. Chief Chef. He'll say, I'll have a look at it. Whenever something breaks,
Starting point is 00:47:35 then leaves it broken for six months. Yeah, I was going to say, is he the type of guy that can actually fix it? He knows a guy for absolutely everything. I know a guy,
Starting point is 00:47:42 I know a guy. And he has at least one story that starts with this one time at the pub. Honestly, that is nailed a Dave for me. I know one Dave quite well
Starting point is 00:47:51 and he is exactly that person. Yeah, I would say I know one Dave and I think that's pretty uncanny. And you know what? Most Dave's, I would say they've missed there, they've got a heart of gold.
Starting point is 00:48:01 You know, the type of person you go... I've broken down on the side of the road, Dave. I know you're in Hamilton. I'm in Auckland. Can you come pick me up and he would be there? I would agree. They seem pretty like a kind of family person. You'd be like, you seem a bit down. Let me go get us shots. Yeah, good guy. Thanks Dave.
Starting point is 00:48:17 All right, if you disagree and you know somebody that Meg is going to throw out, you know a Dave or whoever else, you can veto the name next. But I don't think you can veto it if it's your name because then you have a vested interest in the outcome. Maybe you know horrible, Dave. I'd love to hear from you.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Do you know a Michelle? Because apparently Michelle knows everybody's business. Not because she's nosy, but because people just tell her things. She has a story about every person mentioned in conversation. And if somebody says, don't tell anyone, she's already mentally planning who she can tell. I know a few Michelle's. Final one, let's do Emma, because Jono texted this morning and said, and Emma gave me a strep throat once, so I'm curious on that one.
Starting point is 00:48:57 So Emma is apparently apologised when somebody, else walks into her. So if somebody bumps into Emma, she goes, oh, sorry. People pleaser. She says sorry when asking somebody to move. Oh, sorry, is it okay if you move? Because you're stepping on my foot. We'll let someone push in front of her in a queue and then complain about it to her friends quietly afterwards.
Starting point is 00:49:13 Oh my God, we've got a couple of Emmas that work here with us. And I would say that it's nailed them. They're very lovely. Almost too lovely. People pleaser, yeah. Yeah. Okay, well, if you disagree on the description of Dave, Michelle or Emma, you can veto them next. 0800 the edge.
Starting point is 00:49:29 Or we'll lock it in, officially. Yeah, agree. Madison's text through saying, my mum is Michelle and that is on point. Yeah, love that. So do you disagree or agree like Madison? Oh, 800 the edge. Yeah, or you can fire us a text if you got a busy morning,
Starting point is 00:49:44 334, 3.3. There's veto time. Do you disagree with the description the med gave for Dave's, Michelle's and Emmys? Just a quick recap on Dave. He's the guy that is a bit of salt with the earth. He'll say, I'll have a look at it when something braced, but he probably doesn't actually go and fix it.
Starting point is 00:50:01 But he's always willing to have a look. He knows a guy for absolutely everything and has at least one story that starts with this one time at the pub. This is a crowdsource thing from Reddit, by the way. Thousands of people have pitched in on what your name says about you. Very, mostly common names, aren't they? Like your Dave's, your Evers. Absolutely, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:50:18 I think we're trying to get somebody on that says he is a boss called Dave to see if he agrees with this or not. So we'll wait and see if he does. Michelle, so far, we've only got feedback that. agrees, knows everybody's business, not because she's knows of it, because people just tell her things. She's a story about every person mentioned in conversation. Someone says, don't tell anyone, sorry, she's already mentally planning who she can tell.
Starting point is 00:50:40 Everybody, you need a Michelle in your life. Jono wants to talk about Emmys who are supposedly going to make a push-over and will apologize when someone else bangs into them. Johnno. Jono, you agree or disagree? I disagree with Emma one. It's a veto for me. Beto for you.
Starting point is 00:50:55 What has an Emma done to you? Many years ago I was dating one She gave me strep throws And the only Emma I know was her And she was also a cheater The cheater is probably more More evidence than the strep throat Yeah but she had a pushover
Starting point is 00:51:12 Did some guy hit on her and she's like I got a boyfriend and they're like But you're so hard She's like okay fine You know what I mean And did she give me you strep throat Because she was kissing another dude with strep throat And then passed it on to you
Starting point is 00:51:22 Your throat is very irrelevant Dan that's exactly it Yeah Thank you, Jono. She's got a medicine. Madison. Your mum is a Michelle. Do you agree with her description?
Starting point is 00:51:31 Oh, I 100% agree. I've got it more, right? Oh, yeah. So she's a good gossip? Oh. Yes, all this has a story. Does not stop talking about everyone's business. I love it.
Starting point is 00:51:43 So when you get home, your mum's like, oh my God, Madison. I've got something to tell you. Oh, I walk in the door and, oh, my God, Madison, you never guess what happened. Delicious. I love that. I want to go over to see your mum. Thanks, man.
Starting point is 00:51:55 It's a weird of a good trimake. And, yeah, we've got a text from Harris, and my boss's name is Dave. He's absolutely gin. Bises, pies and muffins at Smokov. I've never met a bad day. I genuinely have never met one. You know what?
Starting point is 00:52:06 They're really good at driving diggers. They've got one of those licenses where they can drive any type of vehicle. Yeah, yeah, true. You know, like a heavy truck license, digger license, anything. Okay. They can land a plane, I reckon. I mean, I guess if you're, if you've got a baby to come and you're going through baby names, Dave seems like a goodie.
Starting point is 00:52:21 We've vetoed Emma. And Michelle, if you're like a bitch session. Yeah, I'm just going to ignore that text that said my ex-Dave cheated on me. Yeah, but could he land a plane, though? Yeah, absolutely. And was he actually a David? Yeah. He probably cheated on you because he was just too nice and couldn't say no.
Starting point is 00:52:36 And speaking of names, we've got A-Lister coming up after 8 this morning to see if they belong in the A-List, B-List or C-List. You can vote now on Instagram stories as well. Okay, cool. Before we get to that, 90 seconds away from you, winning a thousand bucks with easy money. Oh, 800 the end. Easy money. One letter. 10 categories and just 30 seconds.
Starting point is 00:52:57 Play, easy money. Right, the letter this morning is P for getting paid. $1,000 even if you give us 10 answers, no repeated answers. In 30 seconds, the cash is yours. Hey, Lisa. Hello. Hello, Lisa. On Tiawu Mutu this morning.
Starting point is 00:53:13 How is it? It's a beautiful Tiawamu this morning. It's a beautiful blue day. Gorgeous. It's almost like, it'd be like $2,000 in Tiwamu. I reckon you could buy the town. Okay, too much. You know.
Starting point is 00:53:29 No, not quite. All right, Lace, your time will start at the end of Meg asking you your first question. Here we go. Good luck. Thank you. Give me a fruit. Pineapple. A type of bird. Ping ring.
Starting point is 00:53:42 A flower. Pinoni. A city. Philadelphia. Something to do with Cinderella. Princess. Something with buttons. Pass.
Starting point is 00:53:55 A movie. Ping ring. Olympic event Pass A type of cocktail Time Lisa Oh my god That was
Starting point is 00:54:11 Drink cocktails Oh I know Neither That was such a good start My goodness me Yeah five from five And then like Dan said Passes breed passes
Starting point is 00:54:19 And did you say penguin or penguin Penguin? Oh good No I that was twice Yeah Penguin twice No I thought you did I thought you did fantastic
Starting point is 00:54:28 You were so quick With the pass as well Was something with buttons Pants or pyjamas Or phone So I guess those buttons? Sometimes the easier question, stump you up. Yeah, well done.
Starting point is 00:54:37 I've read Hayes the first time, so that's great. I think you did great. Thanks, Lisa. They did very well. Yeah, she did say Penguin quite, like, it was quite cute, didn't she? Penguin. Penguin. Penguin.
Starting point is 00:54:48 Oh, she's so sweet. Penguin. I think we still pay her. We would. We know what she means. We have. We've got A list coming up next. Do they belong in the A list, the B list or the C list?
Starting point is 00:54:57 All right. Gloves off. There we go. The Edge is the home of Clint McGend Dan. Here we go with the A-List if you've never played before. We put celebrities into the A-List, the B-List or the C-List. It normally winds people up and we find it very hard to agree, but this is what we do. And let's not forget the time that Clint tried to choke me out when he lost one time.
Starting point is 00:55:17 So, you know, it's just, it gets physical. It gets physical. We're kicking it off with somebody whose name is very popular at the moment due to a very popular song and sing in Nicole Kidman. I would say if you have a song written about you by one of the biggest pop stars in the world, it puts you pretty up there. But Nicole Kidman is our first name. Okay, this is what she said about that song too. I can't believe it.
Starting point is 00:55:44 She wrote a song called Nicole Kimman. I'm like, who is that person? Yes. Isn't that cool? Yeah, but in her video, she did all the films I've done. Half of them I can't even remember. So it was really good. Wow, that's another thing.
Starting point is 00:55:57 God, she can't remember how many films. She can't even remember how many films she's done. She is that popular. She would probably be the most successful. Australian actress of all time? No, Margot Robbie. I will say this. Where's Margo, actually?
Starting point is 00:56:08 She's not on the A-Lis, is she? She's B, I think. Which I think is probably unfair. Let me have a look at Nicole Kimman's movies. Obviously, Baby Girl, Eyes Wide Sharp, Practical Magic, Practical Magic 2, the others, Moulin Rouge. She was in Batman Forever. Just go with it.
Starting point is 00:56:24 Do you know what I think also helps if you're a power couple because she was with Keith Urban? And I think there's power in the... David Beckham, Victoria Beckon. Yeah, so if you say Tom Cruise is one of the biggest A-lis is one of the biggest A-lis and she was with him. Stefford Wives. Okay, wait, let's see how many movies she's a. How many movies?
Starting point is 00:56:41 Yes, I'm going to say her too. I'm going to say she's a B. I think there was maybe a time where she graced the A-list in the 90s. I think she's a bit of a has-be now. I don't think she's done many movies recently that of note. Practical Magic 2's in cinemas at the moment. Never seen it. Tony, because it just came out.
Starting point is 00:56:58 I haven't seen Practical Magic 1. She's done 120 movies and she's one. and she's won numerous major entertainment awards. Numerous. Numerous. She has won Academy Awards, six Golden Globes and Emmys. Look, she's a B for me.
Starting point is 00:57:11 I think she's quite famous, but she's not famous enough to be on the A list. All right, let's move on to the next name. Then you have to text us 3-3-4-3. What about Jason Derulo? Oh. I think Jason Durullo is very famous, but I'd say you'd struggle to get anybody over, like, 75,
Starting point is 00:57:29 that knows who he is. Do you know the crazy thing is? his social media footprint is way big than you think. He's only 44 million followers on Instagram. There aren't many celebs that are rocking numbers like that. I mean, TikTok's even crazier. But, uh... Okay, three, two, one.
Starting point is 00:57:43 V. He's a B. He's a B-lister. I think he's a B-Lister game this morning. Elon Musk. USA! USA! Jesus for that alone, he's a C-lister. He's in A all day.
Starting point is 00:57:58 When are you like him or not? It's not about Lister. liking the person, unfortunately. He's the richest man in the world. I think it's hard for people to not know who that is. Oh, he by far. Maybe it was the first person that had trillion dollars. Oh, yeah, true.
Starting point is 00:58:11 And then supposedly he lost quite a bit of it. But I'm like, the first person in the world to make a trillion dollars, I just think the world knows him. And if you know him, then he's an A-lister. I don't know. Didn't he almost influence the election? Not him Donald Trump get along anymore. But, like, that was his power.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Well, yeah, he's rich, but is he famous? Okay, we put it up on Instagram. Currently, 66% say he's a C-lister. Yeah, I think that's a bit harsh. I do think he's not an A-lister, though. I'd put Elon Musk at a strong B-lister. I don't think he's up there with your Beyonce's, your Tom Cruise's. The iconic people of the world.
Starting point is 00:58:47 Let's remember A needs to be icons. Yeah, I're going to say C with Elon. His low level of likability is impacting your score on whether he is world-famous, which is what the A-list is. It's the most likable person on the planet. Online as well, Nicole Kidman, 3 had a 62% for A-Lister.
Starting point is 00:59:04 If you disagree with these, text us, call us, oh, 8-H-I-H. I think there's no A-Lister this week. There's no A-Lister. You're going to... I couldn't roll my eyes harder at that end. Which isn't actually all that effective in radio. I won't say me.
Starting point is 00:59:18 It's not, Clint, no, but sometimes we make videos. She had to say that. The A-E-Lister game, we're going through A-List, B-List or C-List. The names we're doing this morning are Nicole Kidman. B for Botox because her face doesn't move. Daniel, that is outrageous. And true. Jason Derulo and Elon Musk.
Starting point is 00:59:43 And I will say, I was saying Nicole Kidman, I think she's an A. Somebody said it's concerning. You weren't because you both like both folks. Concerning that Clint thinks Nicole Kimman is more impressive due to the men she's dated. No, I'm just saying in a power couple, you are more famous. Keith Urban is more famous because he was married to Nicole Kimman. I think when you have two super famous people in a relationship, like JZ and Beyonce, it's like Keith Urban was lucky to get Nicole Kidman, let's be honest.
Starting point is 01:00:09 He was pudging in terms of fame there. Oh, so you would say she's an A. Oh, what, A? Look, I'm willing to be swayed. I think she is a very strong B or a weak A. Angie says, get some fresh ear, Dan. You've lost it. Nicole's an A.
Starting point is 01:00:24 Maybe I do need some fresh air. Let's go to Charlie. Hi, Charlie. What are we saying for Nicole? Definitely an A, Lissa. Yeah. Everyone knows her name. Everyone knows, like, at least the movie she's been in
Starting point is 01:00:35 and, like, shows everything. Everyone knows Nicole Kidman. Okay. Okay. Jason Derulo. I'd say B. I don't know if this is just me, but I'm just like, like, I hear his songs and stuff, but beyond that, that's like...
Starting point is 01:00:49 Well, you know. You can vote as well if you're not willing to call through. You can vote on an Instagram story. You can text Instagram, you can text Instagram. You can text Instagram, Instagram, you could text on Instagram. And you would agree with most people putting Jason Derulo at a B. Yeah. What about Elon Musk?
Starting point is 01:01:00 one I'm struggling with the most. Now you've got to take out, obviously, just before you answer, Charlie. Yeah. Whether you love or hate him. Okay? That's the problem. People can't separate that when we're talking fame. Yeah. God, I despise the man. Yes, yeah. I would still put him like a C, because I think beyond
Starting point is 01:01:16 being a billionaire, that's all I know him for. Beyond that, like, I don't know what he really does so much. Like, I know he owns big companies and crept, but other than that, you hear him. And it's just like, oh, okay. Okay. So, we will talk. about before, the phenomenal performance
Starting point is 01:01:32 that he put on at Sparkery and I went and he was amazing. But if he was an A-Lister, he would put on three shows and he did one. So it's quite telling and I don't know why that is for DeRolo. He's got all the bangers, but... Yeah, I think he's famous. I just, you'd struggle to get the older people. Let's quickly go to
Starting point is 01:01:48 Caroline, what a couple more call is. Hi, Caroline. Let's run through it. Nicole Kidman. An A-lister. Great. Jason Durullo. A B-lister. Okay. And Elon Musk? I think you should ask Clint's dad. Oh, that's John.
Starting point is 01:02:08 And if he knows who he is, he's a mailister. It's an old game we used to play Caroline. I love that you've brought it up. We used to play a little game called Clint's dad, no. And John knows no one. No, I mean, he's a hell of a concrete contractor, but he doesn't know famous people who might have famous. I think he would know Elon.
Starting point is 01:02:25 All right. Oh, you've got Dad on. Yeah, I've got him speed off. Hi, John. Gide, Dad. Hi. Hi, guys. Hi, John, we've got a question for you.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Who is Elon Musk? It's a billionaire and designed Tesla and a lot of high-tech. You're wrong, John. He's a trillion to hear. See you later, mate. Right, well, that says something. I was going to say he's probably a trillionaire, yeah. John does know who he is.
Starting point is 01:02:56 I think he's pretty well one of the richest men in the world, isn't he? I think he is. Yeah. How time our Tesla shares are down there? Okay, talk about Tesla. We don't get into shares. Christine. How come out
Starting point is 01:03:06 Tesla shoes the town that you do are just always attached to the hip. Oh my gosh you guys are funny. Very quickly John, who's
Starting point is 01:03:13 Jason Derulo? No, I couldn't tell you that one. Oh no. That's not good. That's not good. How about you, Tesla shares
Starting point is 01:03:21 gone down out of interest, Christine? No more. Yeah. Wait for them to come up. That's why they know who he is because their retirement
Starting point is 01:03:29 depends on him. These your inheritance clip. All your Tesla shares are out there. It'll go right, Mom. It'll come right.
Starting point is 01:03:35 Stay there, All right. Look, I'm going to have to lock it in. We're wrapping up the break. Nicole Kidman. Oh, God, not the drum roll. It's too long. It's a really long drum roll. A. Jason Derulo. Oh, you want another one for that? As soon as she... I thought she'd want one drum roll for all three. B.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Next drum roll, boom. And Elon Musk? Still too long. B. Yeah. I think he deserves to be a B. Yeah, well done. I still don't know how much the Tesla shares have gone down. You can get them on Zelle at the moment.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Now's a good time to buy. Honestly, I think the Randals are keeping Elon Musk afloat. Clint owns two of them. They've got shares in the company. What is it about Elon Muscular? It's been honest. God, no wonder you put him in an A list. Okay, enough.
Starting point is 01:04:28 We've got Jack Tame coming in next. Get your Clint McGinn, Dan Fax. The Edge. This besweighs, 24 past 8, The Edge. If you're undecided, who's going to get your vote with the election. You can check out Oneews.co.com. And there is a vote compass tool to help you compare your views with party policies.
Starting point is 01:04:52 Or you could listen to the debate and maybe that will help you decide who you're going to vote for. And our very own Jack team is going to be hosting. Gilda. Good to see you. Do you get really nervous with these things because me and Clint especially hate confrontation. Oh, so nervous. Really? No, so nervous.
Starting point is 01:05:08 So my regular job, I just interview one person at a time, right? I get pretty nervous for that, especially. because I'm also not confrontational. No, here's the key. If you're not a confrontational, you've got to get a job where you have to be confrontational. And then you just, you let everything boil up inside you. So tonight, we're going to have Chris and Chris, Labor and National. And so having them both there is quite a different experience for me.
Starting point is 01:05:27 So I'm a bit nervous. It's an interesting election, isn't it? But this is the one election where I don't know what I'm going to do. And I'd say there'd be a lot of people out there than this same. I can have heaps of people. I don't know what they're going to do. Because they reckon that if you think about those main parties, and we look at all the polls, right?
Starting point is 01:05:44 The combined support for the main parties is at the lowest point ever. How hard is it to remain impartial when you're hosting a debate and you're like, you can't snigger or exhale quickly through the nose because it'll start telling which... And I always feel like when you're on TV as well,
Starting point is 01:06:01 like the smallest little gestures, people read into them in massive ways, right? Even little things. I was thinking, I've got to wear a suit on TV tonight. And I was like, man, I've got to wear a suit that isn't blue. Like, can't wear like a red tie? Yeah, sure. Because people think that you're trying to like have some like little like mental jiu-jitsu and like, oh, I'm actually supportive.
Starting point is 01:06:20 Jack comes out in a white tuxedo? Yeah, exactly. Does it send the shits up you a little bit, Jack? Because I've been, I watch a lot of your stuff. I'm a big fan. And this election especially, it just seems like no one's got anything. They're all quick to talk about what everyone else is doing wrong. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:36 Well, one of the interesting things about this election is, again, if the polls are to be believed, then opportunity. is going to be the first party, what was currently placed to be the first party to maybe get past 5% of the vote and get into Parliament. And so lots of people have been trying to work out why are they doing so well in this election compared to previous elections?
Starting point is 01:06:56 And I reckon this could be part of it because everyone else is running against something. And how pivotal is a leader's debate that's on tonight? Do you think to people actually making a permanent decision on which way they'll vote? I think especially for these, main leaders at the moment, given they're both really unpopular, it's a really critical moment
Starting point is 01:07:16 in the campaign because if they were to slip even a couple of percentage points in the polls from where they are now, between now and election day, that could be absolutely dire. What we're going to do tonight too is we're going to have a whole massive group of undecided voters, so people who haven't yet decided who they're going to vote for, and we're going to be asking them how they think it's going and get their thoughts on the performances as well. So that should give us a good steer. What is your advice to someone that's, they want to vote? and they want to have their say on election day.
Starting point is 01:07:44 Vote Compass. Go to Vote Compass. Because I think we can all agree. New Zealand's been a bit like, uh, lately, right? And so there are different ideas about how we could get it back and how we could have a bit more money in our pockets and all that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 01:07:56 And that comes down to policy. And the best way to compare the policies is something like Vote Compass. You don't have to spend two hours doing it. You can just do it in 10 minutes. That'll give you a really good steer for the kind of party that you are most aligned with you. I think that's cool too because you might be surprised.
Starting point is 01:08:11 do Vote Compass, all it is is asking about policies and whether you agree or disagree and you might be surprised that actually it's such a good point. Especially if you, you know, like your dad who's like, oh, I've voted the same way for 46 years now, da-da-da-da. And then you make him do Vote Compass and all of a sudden he's like
Starting point is 01:08:27 I'm not a wokester! I'm not a wokester! Yeah. Oh, interesting. All right, well, Oneews.com. If you do want to check out Vote Compass, otherwise the Leaders Debate is tonight 7pm TVNZ1. Streams also on TVNZ Plus and Tame Matova also.
Starting point is 01:08:41 do a politics podcast. So if you want to get around in that as well. Name a more iconic duo. That's meant to be, Tame and Tover. Thank you, Jack. Appreciate your time, bro. Thank you, guys. Coming up with Clint Megan Dan.
Starting point is 01:08:55 Dan's wife is unofficially awarded New Zealand its greatest biscuit. I don't know why she's become the biscuit connoisseur of New Zealand, but I think she's on to something. And it's not the biscuit that I'd imagine most people would put at number one. Dan's told us, and I agree with her. You agree? Yeah, she's right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:13 I hate all biscuits, so I feel like I can just step back on the fun. Okay, well, why don't you go and make yourself a coffee for 10 minutes? Thanks, sorry, guys. At last, Clint, we can do the show, just us. We had this in yesterday and we bumped it, and Dan got so butter. Who's like, why, we're not doing the biscuits stuff? He brought it up so much, but is the biscuits up for tomorrow? So finally, we're doing New Zealand's top biscuit next.
Starting point is 01:09:33 Look at the boss's face. Clint McGinn Dan? It's Breakfast. The Edge. Clint Megan Dan's. I can see why people think it's. Controversial. Controversial, man.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Speaking of things controversial. That's controversial. I don't think it necessarily is controversial, but my gorgeous wife Hannah and I were talking the other day, because we both love biscuits. Can I define something with this? Because I love a homemade bickie. I will never turn down, ever a homemade bickie,
Starting point is 01:09:58 but you're talking about supermarket biscuits. Well, any type of, yeah, biscuits that are readily available, mass-produced biscuits. At the supermarket, thank you. Okay, that's totally different. And, wait, and is a bickie? And a cookie different? Is cookie time?
Starting point is 01:10:10 They're the same. Cookie time. I'd count cookie time in this. Yeah. So a mass-produced supermarket biscuit we're talking about. Not a homemade bickie. And no super-masket biscuit. No, I think we'll stick to steer of supermasket ones.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Just want to clear that up. Thank you. Okay. So now we've got that across and we've come up with the rules of this very simple game. My wife said that her favourite biscuit is a scotch finger. Good honour. And I, at face value, you go, Jesus Christ. How boring are you?
Starting point is 01:10:41 It's the most boring biscuit out there. But really, it's boring, but hell is it versus off. As long as she's got the one with just the one layer on the back. You can snap him in half and just, oh, they're so moorish. Now, this is the thing. My wife wasn't talking about the chocolate one. She's talking about the plain jar and the original scotch finger was no chocolate. Get in the bin.
Starting point is 01:11:00 My husband's favourite biscuit is a chocolate digestive. Even the name of it, it's weird. I love. I love a digestive. What are you talking about? A digestive as a biscuit is like, how is it? even marketed. It's almost like the person that made them, hates them, and was like
Starting point is 01:11:14 how can I make these not sell a digestive biscuits? There's something about them that makes them sound healthy. The fact that they're called a digestive. I'm like eating chocolate but it's healthy. Your body should be able to digest all biscuits. Why is it a digestive? I think old people love him. Maybe it is easier for them to digest. So, Dan, is text through saying, oh my god yes, your wife is on to something, Dan. We have them in the office and they're
Starting point is 01:11:36 delicious. I'd agree, a scotch finger. Don't count it out. That's all I'm going to say. A lot of people coming through with the love for the chocolate digestive and his scotch finger. Producer Brady, you're the youngest on the show at 21. Have you ever heard of a digestive biscuit? Yeah, when I was little, I used to refuse to eat them because I thought they were like healthy and they had fruit in them. That's the thing. No, but you can get the fruitless ones. You can get the fruit ones. That are just lovely chocolate and biscuit.
Starting point is 01:11:58 Okay. Okay, right. I would have assumed as a non-biscuit eater that everybody just thinks the Tim Tam's the best. Is that incorrect? I think Tim Tam is your classic and I think it's the obvious choice, but it's because you're forgetting about brilliant, like the squiggles, for instance. I used to love the brand biscuit. Have you guys had a brand one? They're bloody good. And it keeps your regular.
Starting point is 01:12:19 It keeps you. You love that, then. It's a win-win. When you used to have those sampler packs, remember it was in like a rectangle box? You'd slide them out and have like three or four. The only one that would go first would be that pink wafer one with the cream. That was always gone first.
Starting point is 01:12:33 A crispy is a coconut one, isn't it? Oh, I love a crispy coconut. Yeah. Another one that's coming through on the text machine, man. this is going off. Kingston. The Kingston. A bit of a Kingston.
Starting point is 01:12:43 Now that's the one with, it's like two sort of O-T biscuits and then chocolate in the middle. It's like a sandwich. Do you know what I don't mind if you're out on the water and you're real peckish, smash a bag of farm bakes. What?
Starting point is 01:12:55 Farm bakes are the most basic B biscuit ever. No way. But when you're really hungry. Farm bakes. Toffee pops have come up as well. Super wines. The only thing they're good for is for crushing them up and make it a cheesecake.
Starting point is 01:13:09 I'll put a bit of butter on one and put another one. Better or a malt biscuit. Yeah. That's all you need. No, you're the malt and your digestive. Go back to the retirement home. Okay. I don't even like this segment.
Starting point is 01:13:19 This is where you come through. Oh, 800 the edge. Texts through 3334.3. I mean, there's so many different options coming through. What is New Zealand's top biscuit? No, I don't understand. Kayla, it does, says, needs a voice disguiser. I don't know why you would need that.
Starting point is 01:13:33 Wait, I can say. Let me change their voice. Jesus Christ, why? Are you so ashamed of your voice? favorite biscuit, Kayla. No, she's got to go online too if she wants to voice disguiser. Okay, here we go, Kayla.
Starting point is 01:13:44 On voice disguiser. What is your favorite biscuit? I'm with Stan when you see with the margarine and the super wine. That's elite. It's super wine. Super wine. Super wines.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Thank you for that, Kayla. That's wonderful. Do you think she wanted it pushed up or down? I think she would have preferred it down? Oh, my bet. You know what? No wonder she wanted her voice disguised, though, Because super wine is a pretty boring biscuit.
Starting point is 01:14:10 Super wine. Let's be honest. Still the chocolate scotch finger for me. What deserves to be at the top? I'm right at partial to a girl guide. Clint McAnne. I can see why people think it's controversial. Controversial, man.
Starting point is 01:14:20 Speaking of things controversial. That's... Controversial. What is New Zealand's greatest biscuit? Dan's wife is adamant that is the scotch finger. I think if she's adding the chocolate layer, then I agree with her. I mean, it does add a certain amount of perfection to an already perfect biscuit, doesn't it, the chocolate? Before we start, could we block Danielle Flynn for 24 hours from the text?
Starting point is 01:14:43 What she done. Mint slice, how good, she says. Danielle, I love you, but that is cooked. A mint slice. I don't eat anything minty and sweet to me. I think it's like, it's so bizarre. But again, I'm kind of sitting out and just watching this happen because I don't like any supermarket biscuit. I want to see you all battle it out.
Starting point is 01:15:01 I'm surprised you don't like biscuits. Why are you surprised? What about me makes you surprise that I don't like? You would be a biscuit lover. Why? Because? Why? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:15:12 I just thought, you know, of all the things that I... You've brought in biscuits before. No, I haven't. Yes, you have. You brought in... Now, don't make me... Homemade biscuits, yes. But a supermarket biscuit, never.
Starting point is 01:15:23 Okay. You just give me Tim Tam energy. That's all. Clint, I would say you give me ginger nut energy. I feel like you'd be a ginger nut energy. I thought it was Carl. That's producing Carl. Or shrewsbury.
Starting point is 01:15:35 No, ginger nuts are disgusting. They can go on the... with mint slices. Mia, come on, man, Chinchin nuts are great. Now it's so hard. And then when you finally do bite through and they suck.
Starting point is 01:15:44 They're not worth the effort. Okay, well, if you're sitting this out, Meg, I'm going to bring in Mia. Morning, Mia. Now, Mia, you've brought in a left field suggestion, which I think is going to be a popular one. What is your idea of the best biscuit?
Starting point is 01:15:59 I love a butternut, the one with the layer of popcorn on top. I agree with you. If you've never had a butter nut, it's almost like an Anzac biscuit with chocolate on it. I'd say that's how I'd describe it. But it's delicious.
Starting point is 01:16:12 I'd agree with you. So that's definitely a top contender. Okay, now we've got Dana. Morning, Dana. Morning, Dana. Now, this is obviously a very contentious issue. What is New Zealand's, in your opinion, top biscuit? Your scotch fingers, for sure.
Starting point is 01:16:27 Yes, Dana. Now, are you talking about the classics? Just like my wife, the one that has no chocolate on it, or are you talking about the chocolate-covered ones? Both, but the classic is in my treat box at home. Treat box To treat Since when did
Starting point is 01:16:41 Adding chocolate To something make anything worse No It's always made it better I don't think it makes it But I just don't think it needs it Because it's already a good biscuit I like a plain girl guide
Starting point is 01:16:50 Versus a chocolate one of that Is anything No they started putting chocolate on Because no one wanted them Yeah that's true I mean There's something about a girl guide That's got a different taste
Starting point is 01:16:59 To your normal biscuit I don't know what it is But it's like a very distinctive taste Hi GC Hey Jesse, what biscuit are you bringing forward for the best in the country? Mellow puff. Mallow puffs. Did you crack them on your head and then you peel up a chocolate?
Starting point is 01:17:21 How do you eat yours out of interest, Jesse? You were a head cracker? Cracket? No. I feel like, did they used to? Did they used to be bigger or we were just smaller? I feel like they're tiny now. They used to be huge.
Starting point is 01:17:33 Is it like when you go to your primary school, you go, did they shrink the rugby field? Yeah, exactly. I don't know. Yeah, no, that's a good option. A mellow puff is in there too, thanks, do you see? Cookie Time, you said it was included. It hasn't even come up, and it's got to be one of the greatest cookies there are. That would be my only type that I think I like.
Starting point is 01:17:48 Cookie Time Cookie is, to me, it's just obviously superior. I mean, that's not. It's not your classic packet of biscuits, though. You know, like you don't go into a packet of cookie times. You can, but... You get eight of them. Yeah, eight massive money. You have to remorgage the house to buy them, though.
Starting point is 01:18:02 What do they put in them? It's so yummy. Okay, here's what I think we do. Over the next few days, we do some sort of knockout. like round robin situation of the best biscuits. And then by the end of the week, Meg, we come up with New Zealand's best biscuit and they send us the company that wins
Starting point is 01:18:17 a whole load of biscuits and we give them out. You give out what half? We'll keep a big share of that. Now it sounds like you're the girl guide going around delivering biscuits. Because we don't want them to go off because no one likes a hoggy biscuit. Okay, so we want them to get to a point where they're fresh.
Starting point is 01:18:34 Have we just done this whole bit for that? So you could do that one little gag. Oh, Kim's come in with hundreds and thousands. Kim, there you go. Smokescreen your own. Coming up on the edge breakfast. All right, I always have the worst luck with what. If you want to finish that sentence for us.
Starting point is 01:18:48 Mick's got a couple of things, I think. But one in particular that's happened to you yet again that proves your luck is just terrible in this space. You have the worst luck with what? For Dan, it's neighbors. Everywhere he goes, he seems to have a terrible neighbor. I go over. Obviously, most people are just terrible neighbors now.
Starting point is 01:19:06 That's what we're just getting to the point. All right, if you'd like finish that sentence for us And weigh in, oh, 800, the Edge, or 3-3-4-3. I always have the worst luck with what? Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and Catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan. The Edge.
Starting point is 01:19:21 When Brittany wrote this song, she wasn't singing about our Meg. No, I feel genuinely, you guys know this, I feel like truly the luckiest person on planet Earth. And I mean that, and that is, you can put me under a lie to teat-a-tete-to-tis. With the husband I have, with the kids I have, my family, my friends, my job, working with you too. I feel incredibly lucky.
Starting point is 01:19:40 She hit the jackpot with us, hey, Clint? I did. I did. We joke, but I did. And so I think it's only feared that I have some things that are unlucky, I guess. It's just counteracting all the other stuff. The universe has to even things out. It does. And yeah, we discovered this the other day. Kristen thinks she knows what it is. What do you think Meg has the worst luck with, Kristen?
Starting point is 01:20:01 What is that? What do you think she has the worst luck with? I think Kristen has the worst luck with. luck with weekends. Oh sorry you called about what you've had the worst luck with. Sorry, Kristen. Yes, yes, the worst luck with bloody Clint. Yeah, amen, sister. We all like that. Oh, sorry, Karen said Meg has no luck when it comes to the winning wheel. Yes, no, we know that one. Yeah, that's true. What's your thing, Kristen? What do you have the worst luck with? So every single weekend since I was 13, I have fallen sick with the flu, with a cold cough, stomach bugs, something like that. I have always been sick during the weekend.
Starting point is 01:20:36 Is it, but I would then go, Kristen, it's something you're doing. On a Friday. Like something on a Friday? Are you passing weird dudes at a bar or something? Are you licking like the crossing button or something? You know? No, well, I'd like to hope not. I am a nurse, so it's probably all the other people make me make that.
Starting point is 01:20:54 All those scumbags are coming. All right, well, no, it wasn't that. It wasn't the winning wheel. It wasn't the Meg gets sick on holiday. It was actually this. We got the things we needed. We came back to the van that was in the car park. We'd gone straight from Bundy's to IKEA, and it had a screw on the tire and a flat tire.
Starting point is 01:21:11 So we're driving home on the spare, and he said, you know what? We've had really bad luck with rentals, and we went through it. We've had one we went to Australia, and as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot onto the motorway, a truck went by and flicked up a rock straight into the wind screen and it cracked. Another time we'd gone on a trip to Topor, and my husband, that was his fault, to be fair, didn't see a pole and backed into it. And we figured out white Toyota's every time. We are now banned from them.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Now, can I ask a question? Go on. You're saying that you've got bad luck with rental cars. Uh-huh. Was Guy driving every time? Yes. Your husband. I would argue he's just a crap driver.
Starting point is 01:21:49 Right. Well, he hasn't had any bad luck with our car, you know. He didn't smash the screen in it the other day, didn't he? Oh, yeah, he did do that. Hold a second. Yeah. Yeah, the internal radio screen. So he was putting something in the back with the seats down,
Starting point is 01:22:03 pushed it all the way through. smash the entertainment system, which is actually worth more than the car to replace. Now, you say that you hit the jackpot with your husband. I reckon you need to leave him. And then you have better luck with car rentals. I would be stuffed without my man. Absolutely. Dan has the worst luck with neighbours.
Starting point is 01:22:20 He had terrible neighbours where he used to live, and then he moves. And wouldn't you know it? Bad neighbours again. Yeah, there's another neighbour that keeps making noise every night. Have you got some of the sounds that he makes? Like, there was, like, a few months ago, he was making like this grunting noise at like 6pm in the after. noon in his backyard. Like he was lifting something and then they've got a like generated that they were using it at all hours of the morning. They're nightmares. Okay. And then you've got the
Starting point is 01:22:44 lovely old man who gives you his fruit and vegetables. Yeah, all this deformed fruit that he grows in his backyard. Like he brought a carrot to me the other day. It had three different heads. No one's that's extra carrot. No, it's not. It's a deformed carrot. It'll give me cancer. It'll give you cancer. If I had three months got cancer, I'll go, was that bloody carrot. It was the modified stuff that you get that would most likely have cancer. That looks perfect. We found the grunty manglom. Is it this? So it's 10.32 p.m. on Saturday night.
Starting point is 01:23:09 Mowed the lawns earlier today. That's when I'm at war with the neighbour. So I'm just going to tip my grass clippings on the section behind their house. I can't. That's not it. Is that you being a terrible number? The advocate comes across like, I'm a bad person. His dog was shitting on my front lawn.
Starting point is 01:23:25 Yeah, but is that the same neighbor that you weed in his litter box? Similar guy. Yeah, similar guy. He's the other guy. Fast fit up. What do you mean? Yeah, worse like my neighbors they. Yeah, terrible.
Starting point is 01:23:35 All right, we'll get into your throwback threesome coming up next. Could we stop saying that I peed in his letterbox? Because I did do it, but the statute of limitations is not over yet. Okay, got, got to go. Want to hear more of Clint, Megan Dan, but completely unfiltered? Catch the Overthinkers audio and video pod every single day on the Rover app. All wherever you get your pots. Overthinkers.
Starting point is 01:23:53 Rover. Music, radio, podcasts.
