The Edge Breakfast - RADIO SHOW | 812 | Scotch Fingers

Episode Date: October 6, 2026

Clint, Meg and Dan kick off Edge Breakfast with banter about catchphrases, a zoo slide mishap and painful “ouch my privates” stories, including Meg’s flying fox incident and a caller...’s pole-dancing injury. They cover scandal headlines about Justin Timberlake’s “boots and cats” noises and Nickelodeon slime’s edible recipe, react to the leaders’ debate chaos, and discuss an ASOS hack by asking what people wouldn’t want leaked. The team plays Easy Money, reviews the New York Times’ top TV shows, and recommends Celebrity Traitors UK. They share a 1958 list of ways to find a husband, crown the Scotch Finger over the Tim Tam, take calls on occupations to avoid dating, feature psychic medium John Edward reading for a listener, and end debating whether it’s weird to sleep in your parents’ bed. 00:31 Show Teasers And Slogans 01:43 Zoo Slide Disaster 04:58 Ouch My Privates Calls 09:41 Scandal Headlines  11:50 Leaders Debate Chaos 18:42 Worst Leak Confessions 22:11 Easy Money Letter  24:29 Top TV Shows Countdown 34:10 Books By Boomers Dating Tips 37:54 Biscuit Battle Begins 42:16 Dakota Johnson Dating 44:08 Never Date Again Jobs 47:24 Easy Money 49:17 John Edward 53:45 Nice to Each other - olivia dean tickets 58:52 Hit The Spot Picks 01:03:10 Parents Bed Debate

Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. And each breakfast. Jona, good morning, being on 6 o'clock Wednesday. Good morning, New Zealand. Morning, everybody. What a day, what a day to be alive. We're already at a humpday. Oh, I just used Ashland.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I just dead. I just dead catchphrased her. You've got your own slogan. You've got I love life. God. What's whose? What a day to be alive. What a day to be alive.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Huh. I mean, I don't think she was the first. say it. No, Clint, I think you need a slogan because she always kicked off the show with it. And then Dan rounds out the show with his weird slogan at the end of it. It's not really working. He hasn't... He hasn't landed on
Starting point is 00:00:44 one that's good enough to do twice. The best one I've done so far is that's our people today, that's Holmes tonight. I think that's been done before. Yeah, by Paul Holmes. Yeah, yeah. And we do a morning show, so tonight doesn't even work. Okay. I'll have a think.
Starting point is 00:00:59 I'll find an opener. Lots of, lots to come up on the show today. In fact, we're talking to psychic media John Edward again after 8 o'clock and he's going to be doing some more readings to dead people. Yeah, he did a reading for Chris last week and Chris was a massive skeptic and I think left a believer. Yeah, so if you've got someone in your life that's passed
Starting point is 00:01:17 and you want to have a chat with them, maybe get in touch now, get in early and we can try and put you in touch with John later in the show. Yeah, 8 o'clock that one's happening. Also, we're giving away tickets to Olivia Dean on Friday. We are giving you tickets to Harry Stahl's with flights on a com on Monday. Yeah, time to get your compliments for Dan reading.
Starting point is 00:01:33 I think Dan's ready to get some comments. compliments today. You know, I've got a thickback. What is it? No, no, that's why we need compliments. We talk about his thickback a lot of show. I can't shaback about it. It's breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Time for a little coffee catch-up. See what each other's been up to since we last caught up. I mean, we love you sharing your lives with us, so we'll do the same. I mean, we wouldn't ask you to do it if we were willing to do it, hey, Meg? No, true. That's what they say. I went to the zoo with Meg. We've got been a few times.
Starting point is 00:02:02 We've got quite often. If you don't see us at work, we're at the same. zoo. I guess it's just a great place to, if you're not one of those parents that has your kit on a leash, you know, you've seen those ones? Oh yeah, I had a leash for days. Yeah, when you unclipped them, it's like, well, they can just kind of run wild and free in the zoo knowing that they're fine.
Starting point is 00:02:21 We interviewed a nanny a few months ago and she was like, do you put them on a leash? And we didn't hire her. She was like, oh, right, okay. Just thought I'd ask. No, she probably doesn't want to look after a leash kit either. Leach is her, it's a hard word. but honestly, you actually genuinely are just trying to get them alive at that point. If you have to have a leash, you're like, I'm trying to keep this child alive
Starting point is 00:02:41 because they have no sense of their own danger. Anyway, last time I think Meg and I went to the zoo, my son, George, thought he would try going down this big slide. There's a few slides at Auckland Zoo. One of them quite large. One with the big egg? Yeah, it looks like a hydra slide enclosed but with no water. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:58 I think when I was with you, you went down. And I went down with him and got stuck halfway down, because it's not made for adults, and my huge ass didn't quite fit down the small kids slide. I'm pretty sure I've been down a few times with the kids when they're little. And what ensued was a whole load of kids down the bottom looking up at me and laughing and pointing at the fat ban in the slide. I was with them.
Starting point is 00:03:19 Meg was the ringleader there. I was ring leading and his guy, kids, look at this. She was like, kids, come along with this fat guy in the slide. Anyway, so my son's now got the confidence where he does go down slides by himself, except yesterday we went to a different park and he got stuck again. in there, but I wasn't with him. Father, like son.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Yeah. Yeah. Taking up the family business. And I had to then climb up from bottom of the slide because I wasn't willing to go up. We were wearing one of your little skirts. No undies again, annoying. That's weird. If you saw a dude in a skirt with no under, he's going up a slide,
Starting point is 00:03:56 I'd be calling the police. Everybody should, by the way. Even if there is a chance, it might be his kid. There's a high jones. It's not. Always call the police Can I just say I did have my son with me I was just climbing
Starting point is 00:04:08 Yeah but at this point no one knows Because he's in the middle of the side They're like why is that man with a skirt With no one he's on going up the slide Call the police always It is such a visceral view that's like Locked in my brain Okay go
Starting point is 00:04:20 Anyway so I had to Oh there's not much more to the story I had to go up the slide And yank my son down from his legs And whilst trying to cover up my extremities I wasn't wearing a dress All right We've shared. We'd love you to 0800 The Edge
Starting point is 00:04:35 If you want to be first caller of the day And with our brand new MTF finance sponsor Now sorting out our 6'am's leveled 100 bucks every morning Do you think they want to be associated with us now after that? That story reminds me of my time that I got stuck on the flying fox But basically my bits Oh, that's right, you went upside down and your dress went up That's right.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Did they ever bounce back? The bits? Yeah. Clint, I don't know. Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint McGon Dan The Edge. Oh, 800. edge we're doing calls on. Ouch, my privates.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Just let us know how you hurt yours. First call of the day. First call of the day. Yeah, this happened a little while ago, and I am mentally scarred still, as will be the children that were in the playground on the day. And I do hope they are getting the therapy. They deserve a need.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Still doing it at the moment, I think, just talking through it. Yeah, that I went on a flying fox to show, well, actually not to show anyone, just to show. I used to love them as a kid. I know Dan loves flying foxes. They're good. You know what? There's some really good ones around New Zealand as well. Some free flying foxes that adults can go on. Yeah, if you don't know what a flying fox is, it is as, I know, do I have to explain it?
Starting point is 00:05:43 But it's a bit like a zip line that you sit on and it's at playgrounds. It's a bit of fun. And the ones they're modem are these, it's a long kind of tube. And then at the bottom, it's a big disc. Yeah, like a rubber blank disc. Upside down dish, I like to call it. And they are made of rubber clean. And I think that's for kids to grip on because you don't want to slip your surface. They are quite dangerous if you fall up for flying fox, and they can be. So it's a good grippy rubber.
Starting point is 00:06:07 So I started on it. And it is summer. It is summer. So I am wearing a dress. Okay. I mean, a dress is not the greatest thing for a flying fox. It's not. But, you know, there's no signs.
Starting point is 00:06:21 You know, don't do this if you're pregnant or if you have epilepsy. It doesn't say. It doesn't say that if you don't have a dress. What a thought so. Don't think you need a sign for something. Well, I sat on it. You don't write of over 90. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:31 And unfortunately, at the end, I had a good time. And it was fabulous. Had a good three seconds of fun. Hit the end. Came back. And it was high enough that I'm still trying to like shimmy off it a little bit with a little bit of decency. But unfortunately, because of weight and aerodynamics and physics, I guess. I'm leaning back on the tube.
Starting point is 00:06:55 And the front of the tube then, of course, goes up. Yes. Oh, gorgeous. And so I'm slipping off. trying to slip my bum off first while I'm holding onto the tube with two hands So you're trying to do a graceful dismount? Yeah, graceful dismount, which is like if you think of the two hands
Starting point is 00:07:08 above my head slipping off backwards on my bum, unfortunately rubber grippy, grab my knickers, rip my knickers up my front bits. So it's a front waging. And then that also pulled up my dress. So my dress is over my face. I'm doing front fanny wretchie to the children.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Meanwhile, and physics is like, that is not my fault. What? And I'm still holding on. onto the tube. And at this point, I don't know why it happens. I just let go of the tube and break your back, make. Like, break your back.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I didn't do anything to end this. But I'm still trying to gracefully somehow, get my foot on the ground. And so it is just full, flat, and then undies, flat, if you can imagine that. Not for aerodynamics. Oh, my God. And dress up above my head. So just as a warning to anybody that has been on a flying fox in summer's coming up. Okay. Well, Catherine is also an ouch from a private moment.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Catherine, what was yours? Morning. Good morning. I used to pole dance as a sport. Meg's done some of that. On a flying fox. Go on. I jumped up onto the bar and I hit my lady bits so hard that it bruised up the middle. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:08:24 That's the be, Catherine, you poor thing. Wow. And not. Not my proudest moment, but embarrassing. Yeah. Wait, do you still dance? No, I got some injuries from some sports, so it's not feasible anymore. Gave up the pole, eh?
Starting point is 00:08:41 I'm trying to think about you did that with such force. So were you holding on to the pole with two hands, and then you, like, swung your body? Yeah, so I had my hands up, and you meant to kind of jump on and lead with your chest and, like, roll on, and, you know, it's meant to look sexy, but it's didn't quite put the mark. Oh, I can imagine it, but you went vagina first. I did, yeah. What are the warnings that they should put at the side of the class again? Yeah, literally. Well, no, she did warn me beforehand.
Starting point is 00:09:06 She's like, watch your bits. And I was like, oh, yeah, sure. Watch your bits. Have a good time. Have a good time and watch your bits. That's all we do here today. Yes, pretty much. We ask us have a bit of fun.
Starting point is 00:09:16 We've got $100 cash, thanks to our new sponsor, NTF Finance. You're very welcome. Thanks for sharing your embarrassing story. Thank you so much. Thank you. And Meg, the kids that did witness the incident, They're still working through that with counsellors at the moment, aren't they? I believe so, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Also, my husband, no help at all, just laughing. Yeah. So, yeah. All right, listen up every morning for your chance to score yourself 100 bucks cash as well. Thanks, empty finance. Your local money experts for personal and business finance. Coming up in scandal headlines. Have you ever wondered what Nickelodeon slime is made out of?
Starting point is 00:09:53 Because we have the answers. They've released the recipe. And Justin Timberlake wants to apologize to us. It's coming up. Jimmy with a gossip. B.H. Scandal this morning, Justin Timberlake wants to apologize to us for something. This is after a woman put up a video online reminding us to something he used to do. Justin Timberlake wanted to make space noises with his mouth.
Starting point is 00:10:15 You couldn't stop him. Award shows, live performances. You gave that man a microphone and there was always a chance. He was about to go, boots and cats, boots and cats. And we liked it. He was He called me Timber Timber Timberle
Starting point is 00:10:30 The Brick The Brick The It was all right Oh I wouldn't say it was great Well he saw her video Justin Timberlake The One Only
Starting point is 00:10:44 And commented on that And said I often look back at that time as well I still don't know Why I did it And I haven't come up with any answers I don't know How to apologise
Starting point is 00:10:53 Enough for whatever those ambitions Were Too many boots Too many cats I hope you can forgive me And I also promise I can't promise I won't do it again. Good on him.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Oh then he hasn't learned anything. He hasn't learned anything. I think he's more just like, I don't know why I do it. It happens. But Dan, he's like I make dad that when he gets a microphone in an audience, something takes over.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Yeah, it's like a car noise. You know, he doesn't know. Sorry about that. And what is Nickelodeon slime made out of? Well, the insurance people back in the day said if the slime gets in the kids' mouths, it has to be edible. So the original recipe was vanilla pudding,
Starting point is 00:11:34 applesauce, green food coloring, and a little oatmeal to thicken it up. Jesus, that'll be so sticky. Wouldn't it? Here go. For 25 years, Sorted has been helping New Zealanders make smart and money choices. The Edge. Just hits.
Starting point is 00:11:49 In Auckland. The Edge. The Edge. Clint Meg and Dan. The debate was on last night for those undecided on which way they might vote in this election. Yeah, the two Chris's. Chris Hipkins, Chris Luxon, national leader and the Labor leader. And there was one takeaway I took from the debate that I think a lot of people would have.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Okay. And is it now knowing which way they'd like the country to be run? Ironically, no, Clint. I think there'll be a lot of people that are more confused because of this. Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan. The leader's debate was on last night. We had Jack Tame on yesterday, actually. He was the mediator, which turns out was.
Starting point is 00:12:30 actually quite a tough job, as it turned out. Yeah, he said he was nervous about it, didn't? He said he gets very nervous before a leader's debate. You wouldn't have picked it. No, not at all. He was so good. In fact, he was the star of the show, in my opinion, Jack Tabe. What colour suit or tie did he wear?
Starting point is 00:12:44 Because he was worried about accidentally looking like he was favouring one party over the other. For a memory, it was black. He'd like a nice black sort of suit, like hard coal grey. Maybe. Right. But there was, I'll tell you what, very little I took away from the leaders debate, because I'm still undecided. like a lot of people who I'm going to vote for in November. Oh, so it didn't make it clear.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Even for somebody who's, like, more capable? I mean, there was just so much talking. Yeah. And a lot of it, they were talking over each other. Have a listen. We set it out just a few days ago on the weekend. Just as you did when you were last in the government. Just as you were doing in the last in government.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Why is this different? Well, if you listen to the answer, I'll tell you. Okay. That was just one of the most. It's number one in radio, what we're not meant to do. Let's see if you can work out what's going on here. All right. Christopher Lachson, you get a moment to talk about.
Starting point is 00:13:32 You get a moment to talk about this in a minute in just a second. Okay, hold on. There wasn't much said. Let's see if we can work out with this thing now. Chris is saying, he wants to go back. Chris is saying, how much money have you put aside for it? Well, we put money aside for it. How much?
Starting point is 00:13:42 How much of you know, we don't reveal that amount? But you're demanding that I reveal it. Why don't you reveal it? Let me explain why. Because the Treasury have said it's $11 billion. Fleur Fitzsons, your union friend has said it's extra on top. Chris Hibkins, we're coming to you on. How much of you take you?
Starting point is 00:13:56 It's annoying when someone asks you a question. and then you answer it, and then they just keep asking you the question when you're trying to answer the question. Yeah, a lot of the times it was the two Chris's, Meek, like talking over each other, and then Jack had come in trying to talk, get them to go back on track.
Starting point is 00:14:07 It was crazy the whole time. Then they even started lying about stuff. High just 54 new nurses. That's the reason our health system is in crisis. Today, in many of our hospitals across the country, there are fewer nurses. It's hard to know who's lying though because they're both called Chris, and when you hear Chris is not true.
Starting point is 00:14:24 You're like, wait, which one is lying? The red one or the blue one? Yeah, true. And so it's just 101 when you're in broadcasting just to not talk over. I think that when it's harder on Christopher Luxel whoever's leading, I think it's so much easier to be the person that goes, well, I would do this if I was in.
Starting point is 00:14:42 You don't have to back it up. But it's just so rude and it's very hard to understand. It is really rude when it's your voice talk to over each other because I think the thing about it is they're all trying to get a worded. And they just can't. No one's so arrogant. And it pushes you off.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Because Meg, you're lying. You are blatantly lying about what you're saying. Well, I'm not lying. And this is me off. You've got no fan to seven. Shut up, Clint. And Dan. You don't know what the time is.
Starting point is 00:15:10 No, actually it is 21 to 7. I also expect. Take the edge off your name with Clint Meg and Dan. Mitch. You might have been a part of the waking up to your ASOS app being hacked. There were like messages that came through. I don't have the app in my phone. I haven't bought from ASOS in a wee while.
Starting point is 00:15:26 But. Sheehan, don't you now? It's much cheaper. Meg's always said, if she doesn't buy from there, what are the children going to do to her money? Yeah. She's always said that. Right. I have to really on the show stick
Starting point is 00:15:39 strong to the fact that I think people know my morals. Yeah, and don't just assume what we're saying. Yeah, I don't know. Their morals are cheap clothing from Sheehan. And ASOS have released since since released a statement saying, we're very sorry that you may have received an unauthorized push notification from ASOS
Starting point is 00:15:57 earlier today. And the push notification was saying, ASOS, we are hackers. If you don't get in touch with us by a certain amount of time, we're going to release all your data. And that's what, like, people, like, if you have the app on your phone,
Starting point is 00:16:08 you would have got on your phone. They said, we're investigating it and the activity and taking immediate action to restrict access based on what we know at this stage. Basic personal information, including name and contact details, may have been accessed. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:16:21 However, we do not believe that any payment card information or account passwords may be. We do not believe. We do not believe. Exactly. It definitely hasn't taken your credit card information. Wait, so what did the hackers want?
Starting point is 00:16:31 Did they want like 25% off code or something? Yeah, they're going to be wanting free clothes for life. They would have been wanting money, money to not release all of their customers' information, which you sit there and go, what are they going to do with my name and address? Because I used to think like that until I realized people can steal your identity very quickly on the internet these days and do whatever the hell they want with it. It's quite frightening. Yeah, that Melissa McCarthy, Jason Bateman,
Starting point is 00:16:59 identity. Yeah, look, watch that movie. It's a factual. I think it's a documentary, isn't it? It's a great factual. It's very factual. And funny at the same time. It's great watch.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Maybe it calls, 0-800-3-4-3. What is the one thing that you wouldn't want leaked? You wouldn't want the internet to see. Photo, video, information, tweet, DM. Yeah, yeah. If that got out. I mean, you wouldn't want your only fans leaked, would you?
Starting point is 00:17:20 Well, it's already out there. No, but you, like, the stuff you're looking at on Onlyfans. Oh, it's going to be, you know, like, like, Say you're a person that subscribes to it, but you don't do any content. You're just using it. What about your search history? On incognito mode.
Starting point is 00:17:35 I usually go on incognito, so I don't think that can be leaked. But this is the odd occasion where the moment takes you and you forget to go in there. I think you'd be surprised with the incognito mode. I think it just doesn't save the Google history, but I'm sure that hackers would be able to see it. Hey? Do you know, for me, the one thing that I would not want leaked more than any other video is I'm pretty sure it's all being deleted because I made sure the first. four or five people that were filming it at the time did delete it. The time I got drunk and did a hucker on the bus
Starting point is 00:18:03 after a wedding for the Australian groomsman. Yeah, that is probably... If anybody listening has that footage, please. In fact, talking about it, it genuinely makes me nervous because I think someone will go, oh, I've got that video, this could be funny, and I'm like, no, no, no, it won't be funny. And don't do that. Can we, like, somehow...
Starting point is 00:18:20 Can someone doctor that up in AI? Oh, that would be easily done here. Yeah, just so at least we have it. but not it's to make Clint do the huck. For that, I'll love it. Okay, what is that one video, photo or moment in your life that you look back on and go, God, that is the last thing that I would want released if hackers got access to all of my information. There's one thing on my phone I wouldn't want released.
Starting point is 00:18:41 I can talk about that next. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax. The Edge. Clint Meg and Dan on The Itch. We'd love to know after Aesos is sent out, like a, hey, we've had some hackers, get into our system and potentially release some of your data. we were wondering what is the worst thing that hackers could release that you've either
Starting point is 00:18:59 DM'd or filmed or had a photo taken of you I mean it's nudes isn't it for most people I'd say like that'd be the peak of Not me No not my good ones Don't get my bad ones We're all done a bad nude Yeah we've all done a bad news
Starting point is 00:19:14 Oh not that one though Her face isn't good enough And that one the bad lighting in that one Don't let release that one I remember there was a one time I had a little pimple on my ass. Pardon?
Starting point is 00:19:25 I don't know if it was a boil or ingrown hair or whatever. Oh, God. Oh, that's way worse than a pimple. It was right, like, at the top of my leg where the bum starts and the legs begins, you know, so it's like that connecting area. And I couldn't quite see it because you couldn't get the angle to see it in the mirror. So I remember I put my phone back there and did a bit of filming. But imagine if that got released.
Starting point is 00:19:47 You know, like, I get my nerds, click gets his hucker, and then dad gets like up the skirt video. I was born a dress. Of his boil. Actually, you know what? The hucker would be... Yeah, Dad's is the worst. Not the worst thing. Yeah, that is disgusting.
Starting point is 00:20:01 I kind of think of what mine would be, but really interesting. Sebastian has also said a video of him doing the hucker would also be the last thing that he'd want released. What comes over you, boys, when you... I mean, hey, a great... Hucker... In the moment, of course. To honour somebody's achievement is an incredible thing to witness.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Oh, it is. Drunk on a bus because you're Australian-made. have never seen one. Not really. Sorry, can I ask, did you get all the words right? To my recollection, but I imagine in my drunken state, if I watched it back, I'd realize I probably didn't know. I think so.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I don't think there would have been much creased. I mean, primary school was like everyone knew the hucker, right? Someone's text through saying picks of my Caesarian, fully wide open on the opt table. I mean, that is a beautiful moment, though, isn't it? But it's probably only for you. Like, if I saw photos of anybody else's Zazarian that I didn't know, I'd be like, oh, God, that is quite... Alex has a real niche one.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Yeah. Morning, Alex. Morning, mate. Good morning. Yeah. What would it be for you? What would be the thing that you'd hate to get leaked? Oh, so about four years ago when I first ever started drag, there was a video going around of me with no panties on and no hit pads.
Starting point is 00:21:14 And I went to go grab the phone from the audience and was like, this will be funny. And I went to go show my nether region. And, yeah, something clipped out. Oh, something slipped out. out. Right. Didn't have it like tied down enough. You've learned a lot since then, I imagine.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Yeah. Yes, I did. They looked what a tucking tape was. Yeah, right. I've heard it's quite the process to tuck away said parts. Yeah, it takes a bit of teaching. I reckon Dan you'll be alright. Yeah, mine don't want to take a little bit of cellar tape.
Starting point is 00:21:45 I'll be all good. Not much. Even then, I don't think I'm bothered most nights. It's not boat tape. But a blue tape. And make sure you shave. Yeah, all right, Dan. Next time you're doing.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Alex's got some tips for you, buddy. Wouldn't that be funny? Dad doing drag. Yeah, well like drag, like speed drag. So it's like the fastest to get from your current state into drag because it can take hours. I just need some foundation and a couple of bits of blue tech. I'll be fine. You'll be all right.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Easy money. Time for your favorite game. Easy money. 30 seconds on the clock. Give us 10 answers with no repeated answers. Starting with the letter G this morning and we'll give you a thousand bucks. G food. My name are Jeff.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Yeah. Hey, Kim. Isn't Jeff Jay? Hello. Both. Can be you. Sure. Hello, Kim.
Starting point is 00:22:34 You'd like to pay all your bills. Go on a shopping spree. Let's get this done, yeah? G. Okay. All right. I'm off asleep. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Okay, not voting well then, Kim. Wake up. Here we go. Here we go. Give me a color. A drink. A drink. A drink.
Starting point is 00:22:55 A language. Greek. Something green. Go. A TV show. Pass. A family member. Grandad.
Starting point is 00:23:09 A hobby. Golf. A cartoon character. Goofy. Something you used to clean. Blast cleaner. A word in and why. Oh, that was question 10.
Starting point is 00:23:24 For someone who's only just waking up, you got all the way to the death, a word ending and why. What does she say? What did you say? Grassy. See, that would have worked, but you had skipped a TV show, Gilmore Girls, Game of Thrones, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Glee. Oh, no, I'm so close. You're so close.
Starting point is 00:23:41 They're sickens away, Kim. You need to be half asleep more often. That was very, very good, Kim. Try again, I reckon. I think now that you have the confidence to know that you have the brain that can do it. Kim might be an 8am player, not a 7am player. Yeah, good on you. Back again, 8. If you want to give it a crack and you think you can do a little better than Kim,
Starting point is 00:23:58 you wouldn't have to do much better to be felt. Watch Watch Watch on Wednesday. It's up next. The New York Times has revealed its top 100 TV shows of the 21st century. Yeah. A lot of these are all must watchers, right? Especially the top five. If you haven't seen the top five, what are you doing with your life? God, I bet you Meg hasn't seen at least three of the top five. Yeah. It's a big time commitment though, isn't it? Clint McGinn' Dan. Edge Breakfast. So watch you watching. I'll stay. So watch you watching on a Wednesday. So watch you watching. All right. What you watching? The New York Times have actually revealed the top 100 TV shows of the 21st century.
Starting point is 00:24:40 What a list of this must be, because in the last 10 years, I'd say we've had some of the best television shows of all time, just in our lifetimes. Let's see if you've, A, seen them. I'll do a few honourable mentions before we get to the top five greatest TV shows of the 21st century, according to New York Times. See what you think of the placement of baby reindeer made the top 189. That's right. Remember that was that scamming lady? Yeah, I think that was an incredibly honest and a totally fresh TV show would never see anything like it.
Starting point is 00:25:10 Ted Lasso comes in at 75. Season 1 only. Yeah. Went downhill, didn't it? Yeah, season 2? Okay, and then season... It kept the mega fans. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:20 But anyone who was... Season 1 was outstanding, though, wasn't it? I couldn't get into it even season 1. Really? I was one of the few. I wanted to, but I just couldn't. Squid Game, I'm surprised as in, it comes in at 72. Wow, okay.
Starting point is 00:25:32 But again, season two I didn't really get. Oh, I really like season two. Yeah. Stranger Things comes in at 53. Oh, that's absolutely a rip-off. You're joking. 53! No way, that should be much higher.
Starting point is 00:25:45 The ending, though. I love the ending. Oh, I think I'm just easy to please. Okay, according to New York Times, these are the top 100 greatest TV shows of the 21st century. Adolescence comes in at 40. Remember that whole show was shot in like every episode in one take?
Starting point is 00:26:01 How many? Is there? Well, Schitt's Creek comes in at 34. Iconic. So great. Survivor 31. Get in. Brand new season is out at the moment too.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Survivor 51, season 51. Better than a show that was filmed in complete sequence. Yeah, some of it could have been cut to be fair. Black Mirror comes in at 26. Yeah, that deserves to be lower. I think Stranger Things should be higher than... Yeah. Controversially lost 22.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Oh, come on. Lost better than... Stranger things. You've lost all credibility with the list. Right? Sucked. White Lotus comes in at number 21. DNF didn't finish.
Starting point is 00:26:42 And then let's just skip to now the top 10. Game of Thrones, number six. Okay. Again, the ending, it was let down by the ending. Yeah, okay. Go on. Flea bag number five. Very good show.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Yeah. Succession, never seen it. Number four. Very good show again. Yeah, that is. Now that's one of those shows that you know they had the ending before they started it because the ending of that show is brilliant. Really?
Starting point is 00:27:09 Yeah, really good. Whereas they lost, they did not. No. They were lost through most of season four. Mad Men, never seen this either, is number three on the greatest TV shows of the 21st century. I have heard about it, yeah. The Wire comes in at number two. Michael B. Jordan was like a kid when this was first filmed and he was in it.
Starting point is 00:27:29 I tried to get into it, but just the quality of it was just so, rubbish, I couldn't. Lists wanky. It's like a, I guess, a police sort of drama, isn't it? Like crime drama. What's number one? I do think I need to go back and give this a watch
Starting point is 00:27:44 because I do agree. I'm not angry about it being number one. Oh. Breaking bad. Is that what that is? Yeah. Number one. I am the one who knocks.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Deserves to be there. Some of the best performances acting wise from Brian Cranston. That show is from start to finish. Sublime. It's a masterclass in television. Yeah, science. Yeah. What happened to that guy? Jesse Pinkerman. Meg, you'd love it. You would really love it. You'd get into it.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Oh, it's just every... It was one of those episodes. It was the epitome of... All right, I'm just going to watch one more app, and then it would finish and you go, oh! And you'd start another one. I don't believe that list anymore. We don't agree on the same things. I'll go and watch the things that got number 30, 40, 50. I think those are more my speed. Well, I've got a show, which I'm going to share with you next, that deserve to be on there. In fact, I think it deserves to be in the top three. that's currently on right now
Starting point is 00:28:35 and it is some of the best television I've ever watched in my life I'll feel you're more of it. Well, it's not that. This is the Clint Meg and Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys off air and a little looser?
Starting point is 00:28:48 Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. We just went through the New York Times top 100 greatest TV shows of the 21st century, but Dan says he is a show that is one of the greatest of all time that you can watch right now and it is brand new.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Watch you watching on day So watch you watching on a Wednesday So what you watching Yeah, I haven't seen it starting to sort of come into the zeitgeist at the moment Celebrity Traitors UK season two It's just launched on three now I'm starting it on Friday I get one hour TV on a week with my husband
Starting point is 00:29:27 And we just finished the last Trader's season It was great Yeah, we're Alan Carr won it last season And so What are you doing? God, what if people haven't even got... I only just finished it. Oh, piss off. It's been all over social media.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Everybody knows he won it. I didn't. Luckily, I finished it last week. You did know. You know what? It's been nearly a year since that's been on. If you didn't know... You just said it's just entered the psych-guise of a show. Season two.
Starting point is 00:29:54 This is season one. Yeah, but trade... But if say there's hype on season two, everyone goes, oh, I've never even seen one. I might go back to the star. Honestly, watch season one. Pointless. But no, this is season two, and I'll tell you this for nothing.
Starting point is 00:30:08 I think so far it's better than season one. Okay. Wow, that's a cool early, because there's only two Eps out at the moment. It's one of the most incredible cast, because it's celebrity, of a reality TV show I've ever seen. We're talking Bella Ramsey from The Last of Us. James Blunt, the singer of Your Beautiful. Maya Jama from Love Island, the host of that show. We're incredibly beautiful woman.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Everyone must feel ugly around her. I swear to God. She's also just... Really cool. Miranda Hart from that show Miranda back in the day. And the star of the show, in my opinion, is an actor, UK actor. You would know him if you saw him called Richard E. Grant. Who is a fantastic follow on Instagram, by the way, just a few weeks ago?
Starting point is 00:30:50 He did this incredible video talking about his deceased ex-wife or deceased wife. And the way he speaks of her... Oh, he's lovely. It's the most lovely speech about a past loved one that you could... ever see. He's obviously a very lovely man. And because they get a lot of actors and comedians, they're all very clever and they're very funny, so they all really carry
Starting point is 00:31:11 what is already an incredible show and concept. Yeah. And there's one moment. Have you got the clip there? Now this is a slight spoiler alert, although it happens very start of season of the episode one, so it's not going to spoil much for you. But Richard E. Grant is
Starting point is 00:31:27 named as a traitor on the show. But no one else knows. So the whole premise of the show is that there's three people on the show that are traitors, and it's their job to murder secretly the other people on the show. But the other people on the show don't know who the traitors are. Yes, and they've got to find them. And so obviously you keep your identity hidden as a traitor.
Starting point is 00:31:47 And everyone goes around me like, are you a traitor? And then they get a reader on them when they go, no, absolutely not. Everyone says they're a faithful, because that's what you meant to do. So then Richard E Grant gets asked that question, are you a traitor. Obviously, you should say, no, I'm not. What are you? Traitor. You're what?
Starting point is 00:32:02 Treeter. He's a traitor. Are you? Yeah. Right. What's the point of being in the game if you're not? You know. Right.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Yeah. Okay. It's an interesting angle. Yeah. You need to be very clear that you're not. I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that. What are you, Richard? Faithful, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:21 I'm faithful. Change your mind. I think you've just done something that's never happened in the game. Producers must be going. You idiot! What are you doing? So, look, it could be either a fantastic bluff and call if he wasn't one. Well, you know what I would say to try to get out of trouble, as I'd say,
Starting point is 00:32:46 traders are going around killing the faithfuls. If I'm saying I'm a traitor, I'm putting smoke on me, so the traders will leave me alone. So that was my ploy all along to pretend I was one of them so they didn't murder me at night. And it kind of is working. There's still people that are like, he said he's a traitor, so obviously let's vote him off. But there's also other people being like, Of course.
Starting point is 00:33:03 If he wasn't, he wouldn't say that. So it's kind of work. No, it's not. He just wanted to be one so bad that he's going around telling everyone he is because he didn't get chosen. It's that works. Honestly, it is some of the most brilliant reality TV you'll ever watch. Everybody's so likable on the show. There's a couple of people that you're like piss off.
Starting point is 00:33:20 But it's such a great show. Watch it. I won't spoil it anymore. Thank you. I appreciate it. Dan said, Dan, don't spoil on campus. I won't. I won't.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I won't. But now you know the season one, who won it? Thanks for that, Dan. Well, hopefully not. People might have forgotten it. It's been a year. If you were getting spoiled by stuff that's been out for a year, piss off. In Scandal this morning, have you ever wondered what is in...
Starting point is 00:33:44 Is this coming up in scandal? No, that's what I'm getting hit on myself. So, if you've ever wanted to know advice from 1958 on how to find yourself a husband, I have 129 ways that a panel of men put together for you. Okay, so we're not playing any music for the music for the first. rest of the show. No, it's just this for the rest of them. Yeah, that'll sort of still tend, surely.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Your favorite radio show? In podcast form. Edge Breakfast, Clint Meg and Dan. Books by Boomers. An article from 1958. It was actually like a little bit of a magazine, which is funny. It was called McCalls. And I think they just do patterns now, McCall's patterns.
Starting point is 00:34:27 If you make your own clothing with spotlight, but they used to do life advice. And they said we had a panel. of 16 experts, from what I can see in the photos, mostly white men, using a technique that has inspired thousands of bright business ideas, which is sitting in a round table and then like just doing a big brainstorm, open brainstorm together. That doesn't sound like something white men do? And it said, we tried it on love and marriage and came up with 129 ways to find a husband. So the dudes were coming up with these ideas going, yeah, and what about?
Starting point is 00:34:55 Oh yeah, what about? Got to imagine being a fly on the wall on that brainstorm. So apparently they came up with 404 and they whittled it down to 120. So I have the whole list. Obviously, I can't go through all of it. Throw some numbers and I'll tell you what they are for How to Find a Husband. 24. Oh, 24, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Let's see. Clint, 24, don't be afraid to associate with more attractive girls. They may have some leftovers. Yeah. I mean, wait. They're saying that the girls should associate with more attractive girls and not be intimidated because they might have some leftovers of like, I don't know. I see what you mean. But that's dating your friend's ex, isn't that frowned upon?
Starting point is 00:35:36 Maybe not back in the 50s. Or maybe just rejections. You know, like, I don't want this man. So you may have him. You're not as pretty as me. You can have him. So she's saying, I've got Jeff, but you can have Gary over there. He's still a good.
Starting point is 00:35:47 I don't want Gary. Okay. You've got Jeff. I guess if you do have a friend that rips through guys, then there is a chance one of them could land on your lap. Lots of offers. You know, guys just flopped to them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:57 And they go, no thanks, but have you met my friend Daniel? Hey, why am I the leftovers? Let's go. Okay, 21, 21, 21. Get a job demonstrating fishing tackle in a sporting goods store. So that's for the woman. Would that work? So she's got to go and start working at like hunting and fishing or something.
Starting point is 00:36:13 You meet a lot of dudes. Jesus, that's a long play to get a husband. It's a very long play. Changing career. She's like, I'm a lawyer. Okay, okay. Okay, for the ladies, what is number 17 in terms of trying to help your chances of getting a man? Be friendly to ugly men.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Handsome is as handsome does. Thank you. I don't know what that means. Is that a Forrest Gump quote? Handsome is, handsome news. I think it is. Wait, so it's just like you've got a better chance with dudes if you're dating well below your average.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Be friendly to anglo-me-ag-me-ag-ling. Okay. Okay, what about number nine? Number nine, number nine. Let's see. Number nine on a hundred and twenty-nine ways to find a husband from 1958. Sit on a park bench and feed the pigeons. You look like a crazy lady.
Starting point is 00:36:55 You've got to look crazy. Well, is number nine? Are they in any order? That's not a top-10 way to find a dude. I don't think lists started. after 1958, they went in order. I'm assuming it's an order. Can I just say, as a man, if I'm walking through a park
Starting point is 00:37:08 and there's a woman sitting down feeding pigeons, I assume she's crazy. 100%. I assume she's... The pigeon lady at home alone, she had no friends and she definitely didn't have a man. Well, that movie didn't come out when they wrote this. I mean, extra points for craziness if they're landing on you.
Starting point is 00:37:22 I mean, have you even got them perched on your shoulders? Totally insane. Last one. Last one. Last one. Last one. What missed out on the top five? It was number six. Oh, read the obituaries to find eligible widower. Oh my God. Just not why you're feeding the pigeons because then you look really crazy.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Some ideas ladies if you want to find a husband from 1950. All right, well there's plenty more digging to do on that list. Maybe we save that one, bring it back. That's one. I love that list. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:37:52 The Edge. See, it's for cookie. That's good enough for me. We're debating New Zealand's greatest biscuit after Dan's wife says the Scotch finger is elite and should be crowned New Zealand greatest biscuit of all time. I agree with her if we're talking the chocolate kind. Yeah, and I think the Tim Tam, let's be honest, it is probably in terms of sales. In fact, I did Google it. It is one of the best selling biscuits in New Zealand, especially for Arnets.
Starting point is 00:38:16 In New Zealand, the Scotch Finger, only seventh on that list in sales. I must say, if I was on Family Feud, I'd probably be saying the most popular one would, as a guest, be Tim Tam. But I think a lot of people be sleeping on the Scotch Finger. And there was a lot of people... I regret doing it. A lot of people were weighing in yesterday. Some were so shy at sharing their preference that they even requested the voice disguiser,
Starting point is 00:38:42 which I unfortunately pitched up instead of down. My bad. I'm with Dan when you see with the margarine and the super wine, that's elite. It's super wine. Super wine. Super wine. I think whenever we have the voice disguiser,
Starting point is 00:38:55 it needs to go up from now on. It's much funny. So we wanted the votes because the winner of this progresses through to the next round and takes on another biscuit tomorrow. But today we're putting the Tim Tam, the classic Tim Tam, just your chocolate,
Starting point is 00:39:09 up against the Scotch Finger. Now look, I'm in the background cutting up all the texts as votes so keep them coming in, 3343, but let's go to the phones in the meantime as well. Morning, Emma. Morning. Morning, Emma.
Starting point is 00:39:22 So what's your vote for? Are we going for the Tim Tam or the Scotch finger and why? Definitely the Scotch finger. I think one of you said it earlier It's very versatile Especially if you have that chocolate bottom It's hands down
Starting point is 00:39:37 It's definitely the best one How do you do yours? Because they come as two fingers I like to just do one finger And then enjoy that And then maybe have the second one after You like a couple of fingers You can split them like a kick cat
Starting point is 00:39:48 You can't you You can A couple of chocolate fingers for Dan I think But thank you Emma What does she mean by versatile When it comes to a biscuit? I don't understand that What does that mean?
Starting point is 00:39:57 Well it means you could either dip it in your tea You could break it up. You could have it as two fingers at once. You can do whatever you want. I think that's why it's so versatile. I feel bad for Ellie. Ellie said she's never had a Scotch finger. She said she's had an English finger, but I don't,
Starting point is 00:40:11 maybe they don't have them in New Zealand. Maybe they make them overseas. God, Clint is so immature. Hey, Ellie texted through, mate. We're ignoring all of you. We're talking to Madison. Madison, watch your vote. Tim Tam or Scotch finger.
Starting point is 00:40:22 I'm going to go for the Tim Tam, sorry, guys. No, that's good. Don't apologize. You are... Your basic B, Madison? Oh! I'm joking. I mean, a Tim Tam slam, let's be honest, we've all had one
Starting point is 00:40:33 where you suck the milk through the Tim Tam is one of the best moments in your life. It's elite. Heaney. Morning. Morning. Morning. What are we voting for? Scotch finger. Scotch finger.
Starting point is 00:40:45 We've got another vote for the Scotts. It's shocking. It's so moorish. It is, isn't it? Jamie. You can easily sit down and have seven of them. Now, Jamie, I believe you text through saying a Tom Tam. Do you mean a Tim Tam?
Starting point is 00:40:57 Yeah, you got a lot of bloody. I thought it was like the T-MU version. No, yeah. You know, when your phone's trying to make you smarter, but it makes you look like more of an idiot. Yeah, yeah. That's a top-tab, everybody. Your phone sucks, Jamie. I'm sorry. Jamie, Jamie wants a tom-tape. One more vote on the phones that I've added up the ones on the text machine. Danielle, Scotch finger or a tim-tap. Scotch finger, 100%. Yes. How many Scotch-fingersers out of interest?
Starting point is 00:41:30 do you eat in one sitting, Danielle? Oh, not impartial to the whole packet. You could have a whole pack of the fingers. That's about 20 fingers. Scotch fist. Don't, I mean, at least since Deniow, I know she can, she knows what you're doing. It's got a scotch fist when you have whole pack, Clint. That's disgusting.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Right, I'm adding them up. Well, wouldn't it be scotch hands? Because actually if you had old pack, there's probably 10 of them. Are we going to be able to carry on with the segment boys? I think if the scotch finger wins, it's going to be quite true. But unfortunately it is. It's a scotch fisting. I'm not even doing the drum roll.
Starting point is 00:42:05 It is one. Respect the drum one with somebody. Fireball. Okay. Honestly, if the scotch finger tomorrow is going up against ginger nuts, it's going to be a minefield. We can't let it have a pal. Clint McGinn, Dan. Edge Breakfast.
Starting point is 00:42:19 The Edge. Dakota Johnson did her S&R live monologue the other day. She brought Taylor Swift on. She did a lot of jokes. And the one that's kind of stuck is joking about her specific type that she seemed to date. I went through two very public, very lame
Starting point is 00:42:36 breakups with two very awesome musicians. I'm not going to talk about my personal life and my monologue. I'm here to talk about my new movie Verity. And the movie is a psychosexual erotic thriller. And you know what? So is dating musicians.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Some of them don't wear shoes. Some of them are terrible in bed. But all of them are in my DMs. Now we're wondering which ones are terrible So who are the musicians That she's dated? Chris Martin from Coldplay
Starting point is 00:43:08 They were together for a while They were together for a very long time Chris Martin and then role model And she's kind of, it's rumoured She might be going on a couple of dates With Machine Gun Kelly at the moment Jesus, so which one of them's the worst in bed? Because she's saying, do you think it'd be Chris?
Starting point is 00:43:22 Well, she didn't date role model for very long, does she? No She wouldn't be with Chris Martin for six years If he was no good. He'd be a bit of a depressing lay, wouldn't he? What'd you mean he'd be depressed? I think it'd be very very, emotional. I've never thought
Starting point is 00:43:34 about what it would be like to have sex with a man man. Do you think about his music? Like, you try your best but you do. I think it's, yeah, I think that'd be lovely. You know, like, try your best but you don't succeed. I'd be like, come on, Chris, put a bit of back into it, mate, would you? Oh, you would like that? Oh, you would like that?
Starting point is 00:43:51 No, I'm thinking like that. No, go on. That's what you've said. Come on, Chris. No, I'm not thinking. Oh, I'm sleeping with Chris. Oh, you're pretending. You're pretending. You need to make that very clear on the front. Sorry, sorry. Okay. So you know what I think. So you know what I think. You might have to go harder on you. I'm imagining if I was Dakota Johnson. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:44:06 That's what she'd be much clearer. Miss that. I should have made that clear. Very much missed that. Oh, 800thage. What occupation will you never date again? Get your Clint McGahn fix. But what's the occupation that you will never date again
Starting point is 00:44:20 because he had a bad experience or experiences? Dakota Johnson says it's musicians. Someone else said, yeah. Musicians? The one I dated said he could never afford dinner and then we'd go and buy a $3,000 guitar. Oh, yeah, that's no good. Flight attendants come through a couple of times, wouldn't date them,
Starting point is 00:44:35 because they're always away, and you're always wondering where they are. That's true. I imagine flight attendants, it's hard to have a relationship, because you're always traveling. Easy to cheat, wouldn't it? Really easy. Oh, I'm on a work trip. Sleeping with the pilots and stuff. Also, if you did sink with somebody in Europe, let's say you flew to Italy,
Starting point is 00:44:52 you know, the whole, like, degrees of separation and it getting back? It's so hard to get back to your partner, I would have thought, when you just randomly hook up with someone on the other side of the world. right? Yeah, you'd have to have people in different ports everywhere around the world. How many people? No, how many people right now are dating a, you know, a hostess or a stewardess and going, huh, you'd thought about it.
Starting point is 00:45:15 You would have. Pilots come through as well. Someone said pilots are just as bad. Personal trainers, obviously we knew that it happened. Yeah, someone else is saying that he would calorie count everything when we went out and we never got dessert. Yeah, that'd be really hard. Now, there is someone that needs to be on the voice disguiser, which means it
Starting point is 00:45:31 juicy. I've got them online too, Clint. Morning James. Yeah, good-day. Fake name. What profession would you not date again and why? 100% cops. That job sort of breaks people. She was incredibly
Starting point is 00:45:47 untrusting on everything and everyone. And when I finally managed to get away from her, she's full on stalked me. And so I went to the cops about it, but they're all friends at the station and didn't believe that. Oh my God
Starting point is 00:46:01 Yeah, because you're complaining about it with their own? I've never been scared before of an X until then And I ended up putting threatening to put a complaint in with the commission And then she finally disappeared Wow That's scary Police have come through quite a bit for cheating as well
Starting point is 00:46:19 Haven't they? We've done the most likely to cheat professions before And police quite often came through Because I don't they say about the crazy ones Don't you in the bed So let's just leave it around It was kind of worth it but real scary afterwards.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Oh, crazy hot Matrix. Kind of worth it. Yeah, she was pretty crazy, though. Yeah, yeah. But, like, there's crazy people in all professions. You know, like, there's a lot of police in New Zealand, so it's just one of those things, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:46:43 It's somebody else texts in saying, anyone who works in recruitment? Yeah, a lot of sales as well. Oh, really? Why? It says sales rep. Good at spinning shithions and making up lies. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Gynecologist, that's specific? Someone said, no, don't date them. Anyone who's going to dedicate their life to that? I'd be a little wary of. They'd know their way around. I'd hope so. Ooh, yuck, guys. That's gross.
Starting point is 00:47:11 I'm just saying you would hope so, Meg. If you went to a gynecologist and he didn't know what was what, you'd be like, can I seek your diploma? Actually, you'd want them to have a bachelor, at least I would have thought. I think you do have to have it for that, Clint. I don't think you can just get, like, a diploma. Certificate. I think you have to do the full study.
Starting point is 00:47:27 All right, should we move on? One letter, 10 k degrees, and just 30 seconds. Let's play. Easy money. Here we go, the letter is M. Meg is going to hit you with 10 questions. If you can give us 10 answers without repeating any in 30 seconds, $1,000 is yours. Charlotte, you want $1,000 to pay off the IVF.
Starting point is 00:47:49 That would be amazing. I'm sorry you have to go through that, but I hope you have all this success in the world. Your letter is M. You ready? I'm ready. Yes. Let's go. Come on, come on, come on.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Okay, here we go. Okay, Charlotte, give me a name. Margot. A planet. Mars. Something you drink. Milkshake. A kitchen staple.
Starting point is 00:48:16 Masha. A car brand. Mitsubishi. A type of cheese. Moxerella. A dessert. Maltese. An animated movie.
Starting point is 00:48:32 Mickey Mouse. A type of fish. Charlotte, that would have been known for me. And you just ran out of time for question 10. Oh my goodness. Which is that one shaky answer in the middle there and then it set you off on a bad run from there. A type of fish, mackerel, Merlin, Mullet.
Starting point is 00:48:55 And then the reality TV show was the last question. So Master's Chef, Marriott, if we would have got there. Oh, that was really good. It was almost like you had the answers in front of you. You were very quick. At one point my brain did go, how long ago did we give the letter? You know, amazing. You did so.
Starting point is 00:49:13 well, Charlotte. Thank you. Try again in the future, darling. Oh, I've really wrote him for her. So close. Yeah. All right. Next on the show, we're catching up with Psychic Medium.
Starting point is 00:49:24 John Edward from the TV show you may remember years ago crossing over. We've had him on the show many, many times. I don't know how his powers work. But in studio, when he talks to somebody that listens to our show, it's uncanny. What he starts pulling out of thin air. And they go, yep, yep, that makes sense. Yep. And that's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:49:43 I mean, you would agree with this. If you've ever been a skeptic of any type of psychic medium or those future readers, anything like that, this will change your view for sure. Yes, I think so definitely. There's something there. He spoke to Chris and convinced Chris who was a skeptic that after he spoke to him, that he was like, oh my God, I'm a believer.
Starting point is 00:50:01 So if you would like to speak to John because you've had, unfortunately, somebody crossover and pass in your life, then 0,800 the edge. We'll get him on next and see what comes through for you. A thousand bucks US an hour. Last of my chit. It's not cheap. Nah.
Starting point is 00:50:15 The Edge is the home of Clint McGinn Dan. The Edge. Very special guests join us on the show again this morning. Yeah, we try and get our friend John Edward in maybe about once a week when we can manage to get him because he does world tours. He's planning on coming to New Zealand at some point, I believe. He is a psychic medium that was incredibly popular with a TV show back in the early 2000s, and now he is still touring and reading People's Dead People's.
Starting point is 00:50:42 I know that's how he works. I don't know that's in his bio, is John. Okay. Dan, who's the lucky person speaking with John this morning? Well, John, we've got a couple of people on the line that are wanting to ask you some specific questions. Let's bring in Amelia first. Morning Amelia on with John.
Starting point is 00:50:59 Hi, I haven't really done this before. So would I ask something like, is anyone coming through for you for me or I'm wanting to see if my grandma comes through? I can tell you what I'm seeing, hearing and feeling, and then you can tell me what makes sense. and I always ask people to write down the stuff that doesn't make sense or what comes through because sometimes I might misinterpret what they're showing me.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Amelia, are you talking about your mom's mom by chance? Yes, I am. Okay. And on that side of the family, would she be one of four kids or did she have four children? Yeah, she came from four. Yeah, she had a lot of siblings, I think, about four. Okay. And then do you know if she has, if she also has a sister who has passed,
Starting point is 00:51:37 like would there be a sister that's with her? Because I'm feeling like there's another energy that would be, Okay. And then there must have been a dynamic between your grandmother and your mom that would have felt competitive in energy for you. Maybe grandma was very connected to one of the grandkids. Yeah, so I was a girl. My brother was the boy. So there was a wee bit of favoritism towards me growing up. Okay. And then Amelia, where would there be like a Danielle or a D name like David? Where's the D sounding name, living or past? So DA is D.A. is D.A. is D.R. Okay. But is that like a grandson for her? Who's that connected to you? So that's my uncle, his son. So it's lower than her. Okay. Do you know if he had a recent health issue or if there was somebody that was just going for testing or had some type of, like, were in a clinic where they were, like, going for some type of procedure? Someone in my family just had a hip replacement. Okay. Because I kind of feel like I'm supposed to acknowledge, like, seeing what's going on. And then she says that your family dog is with her. So you guys must have just lost a dog in the last couple of years. Because I feel like they feel like they're.
Starting point is 00:52:39 There's a dog that's there. They want you to know. And then your mom is still living, correct? Correct. Okay. And I know we're on the radio, so I'm going to be as cryptic as I can. Could I just say that there might have been a little bit of a bump in the road communication-wise between your mom and one of her kids?
Starting point is 00:52:57 Yeah. Okay. So according to your grandmother, just know that there's not a lot that you could do to fix this dynamic without the person being aware of what the kind of triggers are, like what the rooted issue is. Do you understand? No, I think I'm getting what you're putting down. Okay, and by the way, her husband's there too, right? So your grandfather's also passed?
Starting point is 00:53:17 Yes. Well, Amelia, I hope there's been some sort of connection or something there for you. It was amazing for us to listen in the background. Amazing. Thank you so much. I hope that gave some peace. I got chills, eh? Chill. Bye. See you later.
Starting point is 00:53:31 Bye. All right, well, apologies to those who obviously do want to speak to John. We'll try and get you to the front of the queue for next time he joins us. and if you missed what he does he reads people's dead people's I love help he didn't even bring that up with you he was like that's fine
Starting point is 00:53:46 he knows me alright who wants to go to Olivia Dean for free how exciting if you want to go you have to win tickets now she's being sold out sometime and she's gonna be here
Starting point is 00:53:59 in like a week and a half she is indeed and you just have to call us up and give us a compliment and it's turn I think Dan hasn't had one yet Meg, it's your idea, and I would hate to take the spotlight away from you. No, no, Dan hasn't had it. Clinton got a beautiful compliment yesterday so much so that he read it out,
Starting point is 00:54:15 maybe three or four times later in the show out loud. I wouldn't have me and Dan would make it. And he sent it to his wife and his mom and something said, look at the lovely things people are saying about me. It's now his screen saver whenever he clicks open his phone. Yeah, he just sees it again. And Dad hasn't had a compliment, so I think it's his turn. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Well, it all stems off the song. If you're wondering why the hell we're doing it. While we're away, he got signed off. Olivia Dean's song, nice to each other. you want to be nice to us it's kind of like bribing us to give you tickets it's actually annoying the people that
Starting point is 00:54:41 commonly just text that they're not willing to go on the radio voice disguise is available though yeah Edge breakfast Clint Megand Dan Olivia Dean you want to go but tickets are completely done
Starting point is 00:54:54 Western Springs Bowl sold out not this Saturday next if you want to be there this is how you win tickets on Friday This is Clint Megan Dan's Olivia Dean's nice to each other Very lucky, and on the first day, I got a lovely compliment or two. And then yesterday, Clint, you got a beautiful one.
Starting point is 00:55:14 My poor darling Dan. We had to gee those up for Clint. Yeah, he hasn't had one. So I did a call out saying, please say something nice to my friend. But I don't, actually, you know what? I don't want these fake compliments. You don't want it to be fake? No, because you've just gone, oh, you know, call up and say something nice about Dad.
Starting point is 00:55:31 We might give you a double past it, Livyadee, if you do. Yeah, yeah. So don't make it sound like they've just been. forced to. Okay. Okay. Well, you know, oh, this is completely random. Look at that. A full board of people that would like to do a compliment to somebody on the show. Tony, who's your compliment for?
Starting point is 00:55:47 Hi, my compliment for Dan. Okay, why is you on voice disguise out of interest? Oh, did you not want anyone to know who you were complimenting Dan? No. Oh, that's being put on by mistake. Okay, my dad. See, this is the thing with you guys. You're always trying to bring me down. Sorry, Tony. The nicest guy on the show, the
Starting point is 00:56:03 heart of gold guy. Sorry, Tony, of that is your real name. What do you want to say to Dan? I just want to say I ran into Dan in the airport in Dubai a few years ago, and he was the nicest guy. He said hello, and he was courteous and was looking after his wife. Oh, looking after his wife? That's a good boy.
Starting point is 00:56:23 I remember that interaction. Isn't that odd to run into someone like a New Zealander in Dubai of all places? A very busy airport. In fact, I'd say it's one of the busiest airports. Dan told us about that interaction, actually. actually. He was like, I was in Dubai and I bumped into somebody who said love the show. So he even talked about you, Tony. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Oh, really? Yeah. It was lovely to meet you. So thank you for that, Tony. You're in the draw for that compliment, Tony, to hit to Olivia Dean on Friday. We make the announcement Friday morning after. And that's enough. I think we'll see.
Starting point is 00:56:49 Mark, you've got a compliment. Good morning. Oh, hi. Dan, you've got a really, really lovely mother. Julie is a phenomenal woman. She should be so proud. Yeah, she is a wonderful woman. She's very funny.
Starting point is 00:57:03 She's always happy. to go along with a bit of a laugh. Yeah, I love that woman. I'm not going to ask how you know my mum. I'm just going to assume you worked for that. Oh, I coulda. Morning. Morning.
Starting point is 00:57:14 You've got a compliment for? Dad. Oh, that was surprised. Okay. Yeah. Hit me with it. Yeah, and I wouldn't, I'm not forced to do it. I just, I absolutely love the passion that you put into, like, your singing and theater
Starting point is 00:57:31 and just making out of laugh every day. Oh, that's lovely. He's loving it. Easy, more, more, more in studio. Thank you, Kudan. That's very lovely of you to say. But I'm like, oh, God, I can't, I don't like compliments. I'm not a...
Starting point is 00:57:43 Okay, we've got one more, Dan. We've got one more. In fact, is this for Dan as well, Mel? Yeah, so Dan, he totally has an amazing voice and the hit the spot is my favorite, but also a little anti-and-and-good compliment for the rest of you. It's Clint, you're the least funny. So the other tour way funnier.
Starting point is 00:58:02 Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. That's a really lovely. I'll take that. Actually, you know what I like you, Mel, you're my favourite. We took in the segment,
Starting point is 00:58:09 you're my least favorite. Can we happen to that? I love it. Can next week we do mean to each other? Yeah, it does. That's fun. It is fun. Well, thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:58:20 What a wonderful woman to ring up and say. Olivia Dean does have a song mean to each other. No. You know what? I like the taste of that compliment sandwich. It was delicious. And Mel's going to really enjoy this. She said she loves hit the spot.
Starting point is 00:58:32 It's happening again this weekend. Mel, and we're going to go through some of the potential songs that Dan might attempt tomorrow. Yeah, and you'll be pleased to know, Mel, Clint's not any part of it. He's just doing the playters where he pulls them up. I'll sit out of the mouth. When the song comes back in, but apart from that, he's doing nothing. Listen to your favourite breakfast show whenever you like.
Starting point is 00:58:52 Clint Meg and Dan. The Edge. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. Hit it. It's a spot. Oh, apologies going over old ground if you're an OG. But if you're a new listener, one of our favorite things is watching Dan sing along to a song, pulling the music down. He keeps the timing
Starting point is 00:59:04 or at least we hope he does because when we bring the song back up, he needs to be perfectly in sync with the artist. It's actually harder than it looks. I think Dan makes it look really easy and really simple. You can try it at home if you want if you're listening to the radio and during the next song. Turn the volume down and then just remember to bring it back up. Will you set the chorus hit?
Starting point is 00:59:22 Yeah. So it's a simple game to play. In fact, Milton Bradley should pay me money to do it. Do you know, Dan, I looked into that. I genuinely started looking into and writing up the rules and the gameplay and how to get it made of doing your very own hit the spot board game. And then I realized that I think media works, we could have the money, so then I gave up.
Starting point is 00:59:40 Oh, you didn't want to hear you. The parent company, they own us. They own us. All right, I gave you the issue yesterday to do a Jason Derulo. Yeah, and let's be honest, I was trying to do some practice last night and find the best song, Jason Derulo song to do. And he's the most fruitful artist I've ever witnessed for a hit the spot.
Starting point is 00:59:57 He's got many options. So I went to his gig at Spark Arena a couple of Saturdays ago. And you know how normally you're like checking the set list? Because you're like, when's my favorite song? Like how many more songs will have to sit through before you get the banger? Just banger after banger after banger. I was like, this guy, I don't know why he wasn't doing two or three spark arenas or going to cross church in Wellington as well.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Now this is where you come in. I've got three options. You need to vote on which one you want to hear for hit the spot tomorrow. Okay, here's the first one. Oh, a little rap from Dan. I don't hate it. Robbie singing. Bring it down about here.
Starting point is 01:00:29 I think that means a new one. So you'd be singing this part. Yeah, there'd be no music behind me. I want to hear Dan Tandt, but your booty don't need explaining. True. Talk 30 to me. Oh, nice. You do the talk dirty to me and we bring it back up.
Starting point is 01:00:47 Yeah. So that's a good option. Yeah. This is option two. Also a very strong contender. My favourite of his. Okay, we're bringing the song down here. What are you, Dan, doing this?
Starting point is 01:01:00 Gotta get my share together. Oh, I love the song. So you'd be archipel to reverse. It's a bit high for me. Here comes a hit the spa. And then you'd sing which part? And here we go. Okay, well, what's number three?
Starting point is 01:01:23 And this, I think, is my favourite. Oh, really? I'd say it's probably his most iconic hit. Okay. Jason DeRullo trumpets. Is it weird that you brought? Remind me of a Katie Perry song. Here I start singing.
Starting point is 01:01:35 Very high Okay I'd fade this down I'm in falsetto here I hear symphonies In my irons Come on Here the drums they swing low And the trumpets they go
Starting point is 01:01:58 Hit the spot I think that's the hardest one Because he's got a few pauses Yeah it is tricky for timing-wise You're right Meg So those are your three options What would you like? What's the other two like?
Starting point is 01:02:09 To all dirty and writing solo You can text us 3343, what's going to be the moment that gets you most excited and most happy when Dan hits the spot tomorrow? Yeah, I'm attempting at 8 a.m. tomorrow. It could be our most successful hit the spot yet.
Starting point is 01:02:24 Well, producer Carl, to try and ensure that that happens, he's got a special outfit for you. I'm just throwing it up on your screen in the studio at the moment. He wears like a leather vest kind of thing, and like a headset, Mike. I'm much pastier than Jason, though. I have the black singlet, the chain,
Starting point is 01:02:41 the leather vest and the leather pants so I could bring all that in if you could for one day not wear that outfit and then Dan could wear that tomorrow we'll just swap clothes when we get to work yeah okay sounds good just wear your normal attire
Starting point is 01:02:54 alright well get your votes in 3343 and majority rules 8 a.m tomorrow morning 8 a.m. tomorrow morning Take the edge of your day with Clint Meg and Dan It's Clint McGon dance And let's settle this
Starting point is 01:03:16 Let's settle this right now Okay I don't think there's actually Much too set or I didn't think there was initially And then people were saying that I was very weird for doing this And so I now want to know if I'm in the minority of the majority Okay No I don't think you're weird at all Thank you.
Starting point is 01:03:31 Divulge Clinton Randall, what have you been doing? We had like a week off the first week of the school holidays last week And I decided to shoot up north To I guess what has become a family batch mum and dad have retired and so they've built a place up north. Must be nice. It is. Sounds very idyllic, doesn't it, Meg?
Starting point is 01:03:49 We can only dream. We can only dream. We can only dream. Oh, no, Meg, you can only dream. He's got a lake house. Oh, you do go to some family member's house that we sometimes stay at. For free? For free?
Starting point is 01:04:00 Oh, I don't. We, so, oh, for free. How many houses do you own that you rent out? None. Anyway, let's move on. That's a lie. All right, Clint. So,
Starting point is 01:04:12 Go up to Mom and Dad's place, and they weren't there, so it was just my wife and my two kids. And you kind of have your room, you know, because I've owned the house for a couple of years now. All right. So you go and we have your own wardrobe in your room, whatever. But Mum and Dad's room has an onsuit. There's a bathroom attached, and the other ones don't. And it also has quite a flash beard that has like a remote control. And it like adjusts all the back and the feet, and it does zero gravity and stuff.
Starting point is 01:04:42 Spins around. Zero gravity. Wait, what do you mean is in space? Did you flood around the room? What are you talking about? Your parents are freaky. Okay, Dad, I take it back. Sorry, he is on a different level. No, I said to my wife,
Starting point is 01:04:54 well, why don't we sleep in mum and dad's bed? Because it's a nicer bed, and it has the en suite, and they're not going to be here, so we may as well use that. Yeah, totally. And, um... What is the space room? And some...
Starting point is 01:05:06 And I was talking about that or something, and they were like, oh, you slept in your mom and dad's bed. and it's so bizarre that people would think it's weird to sleep in the bed that you're not with mum and dad. No, they weren't there. It's just a bed. It's just a bed. It's just a bed.
Starting point is 01:05:22 Do you not sleep in other people's hotel room beds? Airbnb beds? Why is that you're so disgusted by your own parents, but you'll sleep in strangers' beds at hotels? People didn't find it necessarily that weird initially until I think they realized that the bed was all motorised and that made it weird for people. Is your mum going in there and turning on the zero gravity and using her buzzildrin? sitting there waiting, thinking of like a... Yeah, I was trying to think of some of astronaut joke there.
Starting point is 01:05:48 But I mean, I... There's definitely some sort of space joke if you really want to go there. Yeah, I'm not going to go there. I'm not going to go there. All right, but I will say, I think of it. I think because the beds are some sort of weird electric sex bed, this makes it weirder. If it was a normal bed, I think it's sort of fine.
Starting point is 01:06:05 I don't think it is a sex bed. It's like a chiropractor bed. Like a northern part of it. It spins around or whatever they call it. That also has zero-gravation. so your dad can Go and I don't know
Starting point is 01:06:15 You know Search the planets Okay Settles Sleeping in mum and dad's bed As an adult Yes or no Are your parents in it?
Starting point is 01:06:25 No when that Clearly not It's like It's fine I'll sleep in the middle It's weird that you think it's weird I think it's fine if you're top and tailing I didn't think it was weird
Starting point is 01:06:36 I didn't think it was weird It's like Charlie Bucket And Charlie the Chocolate Factory With his grandparents It's Clint, Megan Dance. And let's settle this. Let's settle this right now.
Starting point is 01:06:46 Okay, I want to know, is it weird? Because some friends of mine, after finding out that I've done this, thought it was, to sleep in mum and dad's bed as an adult. Yes or no. When, yes, they're not there anymore. Yeah, they're not there. Sleep in mum and dad's bed. This is the last time I sleep with my mum in her bed.
Starting point is 01:07:01 I think it was like nine. No, it would have been like 20 something. We should have bed at a hotel. I don't think it's that weird. I think it's not as weird for girls with their moms. Oh, yeah, okay. Well, okay, if you just joined us, I was up at mom and dad's, place. They weren't there and so
Starting point is 01:07:13 they have an onsuit and my wife and I decided to stay in their room and sleep in their bed and maybe it's the fact that it has, it's one of those beds with lots of buttons and it like all the mattress all moves and changes. You can have it up and down and the legs It vibrates, hey it doesn't. Maybe that makes it worse. I don't know, but that's also why I wanted the room
Starting point is 01:07:32 because I was like, oh they've got a flashbed. Yeah. Okay, so we're asking, is it weird to sleep in your parents' bed which I think is so, the point is so moot. Obviously nobody thinks that's weird. Oh, I'm at hand to the edge. Is it to sleep in your parents' bed hope? No, it's not. I used to go have sleepovers with my mum
Starting point is 01:07:49 and sleep in her bed. But I also want to go back to Clint. That's more of a reason to sleep in there when it is an adjustable bed. It's 100 beds in one in the push of the button. It's a bit weird. What would you think about the mirror on the ceiling, though?
Starting point is 01:08:06 That was for me a little bit of a weird one. That's about weird. And the neon lights were. Oh, look at this Hayden's text and saying it's not weird at all to sleep with Clint's mum. So, you know, that's... I think we've got to do a different question there actually. Now, Clint's mum is a very loyal woman.
Starting point is 01:08:22 I will not have anything said bad about Christy. No, well... Yeah, maybe it's just my friends making it weird because they were like, oh, mate, that is weird. Sleeping in your mum and dad's bed where they do, you know what? Honestly, it's so far. I just would find it more... I find it so strange that it would be totally fine to sleep in an Airbnb
Starting point is 01:08:36 in strangers' beds than they would their own parents bed. Oh, Nick. Oh, okay. She goes, it's not weird at all. maybe not with the mirror. The mirror does make it weird. Yeah, it is odd. And that's weird that there's like neon lights around the mirror and stuff. And the bed spins.
Starting point is 01:08:50 I don't think that's good for chiropractic stuff. No, that was my brother's bed. Oh, right. What is it up with your family? Honestly, you are a family of... He had a spinning bed that I built in speakers. Jesus. It's outrageous.
Starting point is 01:09:01 Did John and Christine buy that after him? I don't think so. Imagine buy your son's sex bed. Okay. Stop it. Sorry. We do actually have Christine Randall on the line. Hi, Christine.
Starting point is 01:09:13 Good morning, Christy. Hi, guys. Totally fine, obviously, for your son to sleep in your bed when you're away. Oh, of course it is. I was glad they did, and they enjoyed it. But I don't know about this mirror. It's giving me some ideas. I might just ask them about that.
Starting point is 01:09:29 But I don't know. They might not want to sleep in it again if they knew what's been going on in there. Exactly my point. Wow. Mom doesn't even know how to use the TV remote. She's not even probably worked out how to use that remote for the bed. I don't think she needs the bed for what she's doing. Oh, go on.
Starting point is 01:09:50 Yeah, yeah, actually, that's the one thing I do know. I wish it did have a vibrating button. Okay, she can go. Yeah, even put your mum on hold. She's a loose cannon. I love that woman. I love her. Yeah, she's like sending an email to the manufacturers now.
Starting point is 01:10:05 She's Googling big mirrors. Big murals. Vibrating mattress. on the ceiling. The nextel life stay there over Christmas, man, I'm going to kill you. Want to hear more of Clint, Meg and Dan, but completely unfiltered?
