Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Take the edge off your mornings with Clint Meag and Dan. Get your breakfast. Good morning. It is 1 to 6 on your Tuesday, hardest part of the week, done and dusted Monday gone. Yeah, and you know, if you're one of these people that hates a Tuesday, which a lot of you are. A lot of people don't like a Tuesday. People don't like Tuesday?
Starting point is 00:00:20 Because it's like the Monday's like the start of the week. You know, Tuesday's like that lull. Yeah, Tuesday I guess if I had to say the worst day of the week, it would be a Tuesday, wouldn't it, I guess. Shoot Shag, Mary, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Oh, I would... I would shag Monday, because I think it can be exciting. I would shoot Tuesday and, yeah, I'd marry Wednesday. No, I'm killing Monday, for sure.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Yeah, Sunday. Monday even ruins Sunday sometimes. I'd Shag Wednesday. Just the thought of Monday coming. That's your alcoholism. Oh, yeah. Not Monday. Not always.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Most of the time. Not always. I reckon I could show Wednesday a good time. Give a good shagging. But you can't show the marriage version a good time? No, we've just had one of those sexless marriages. We'd just be flatmates. Oh.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Yeah. I don't know what's... Heard of them. Right. Heard of them. Yeah, of course, of course. All right, your chance would $20,000 at 7 and 8 o'clock this morning. Also, Tover O'Brien's going to be in.
Starting point is 00:01:22 The Love Genie's going to be joining us on the show, so a few guests this morning. Mick's getting her favourite politician, Winston Peters on. It's going to be a big show. Yep. Yeah. I don't know if I can say much more than a festival announcement at 730 and your chance to get your hands on the first ticket Yes, I'm excited for this
Starting point is 00:01:39 I think that's all I'm allowed to say Even that I think was a little naughty if I'm being honest Clint The boss just text you're fired you've said too much Yeah well Mum still have had that loaded ready to go dad He did text it very quickly Must have it 10 years is a good run
Starting point is 00:01:54 It's breakfast Clint Meg and Dan Edg Clint Meg and Dan To have a little coffee catch up and then your chance to score 100 bucks for joining the show coming up next. I went and I recorded your husband's podcast yesterday, Meg. Yeah, extremely casual gamers. Go to listen to it, download.
Starting point is 00:02:09 And they are extremely casual. I didn't realize. I thought a couple of them were quite hardcore gamers. No, but they were all casual. Yeah, no, it says it in the name. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought that was more of an ironic title. But I won't talk about that.
Starting point is 00:02:20 I'm going to talk about the thing that I did before that, which was park my car in, you know, one of those high-rise things where there's like multiple levels of car parking. And they're all on funny little angles And it's very confusing as to where you've parked It confuses and I'm going to say the S word Heather, shit out of me
Starting point is 00:02:38 I don't know if it's my ADHD I don't know what it is No sometimes you look and you can almost see your car On another level and you're like I don't know how to get out of it I don't have to get to that level I've done that floor of like climb through Have you really
Starting point is 00:02:49 Because you're like how do I get there? Because I go down and I'm like now it's back up I saw some chip film a video once I don't know if it was at Sky City Yes Sky City does it's the one I'm talking about Clint and she was like there's my car It's right there.
Starting point is 00:03:01 And then she goes down the ramp and then she goes, where did it go? And I was like, you just climb through the fence. I had to ask a man. Like, I had to ask, go to the reception of the parking thing and be like, I've lost my car. How did he find it? Oh, he was so, like, every person asked him. He was, like, so angry, like, really grumpy about it. Really?
Starting point is 00:03:18 It's like, it's the 50th time he's been asked today. Anyway, yeah, so as I get out, every time I go to these car parks, I go and I look at the thing. Usually it's like an orange, like a color-coded thing. And it's usually five. A or 5B. I looked at it when I left and I'm like, all right, I'm 5B. 5B. Remembered it.
Starting point is 00:03:37 After the podcast came back, went to 5B, cars not there. Looked around. Looked around. Not there. Turns out there's 2 5Bs. Why is there 2 5Bs? Why would there be 2 5Bs? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:50 That's what the man was like, oh, you're on the other 5B. And I'm like, I piss off and you're angry at me. Yeah. So. In the Coast City, they'll actually have little coloured tickets like near the elevator and you tear them off and you put them in your pocket because it must be that confusing and everyone's losing their vehicle. I've lost.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I've lost hours at Sky City car park. Hours of my life. The Sky City one in Auckland. It's terrible. It's almost like they don't want you to leave. Yeah, it really is. It's like a tactic. It is so confusing. So yeah, there's a lot of people gambling in there.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I think the reason they're there is still there. It's just because they can't find the cars. They can't find the car. They can't be bothered. Yeah. But then they also validate your parking so you can get it free if you park below the the Sky Tower. if you sit at a blackjack or a gambling table for a certain period of time
Starting point is 00:04:33 so if you sit there long enough they'll stamp your card and then they'll validate your parking the fact that you know that clinton is both depressing and incredible well because i don't like paying for parking i think my dad hates it and you know how things get passed down from your parents to you yeah yeah he hates paying for parking and Clint knows that because quite often he'll go to the casino have a few beers have a gamble and leave his kids in the car and he goes back down and then they're still there just leaves the air conditioning that's not as bad as you think because they're 11 now and there's a strong screen in the TV, so they'll just watch Netflix.
Starting point is 00:05:00 That's privileged, right there. A lot of people just get an iPad or an iPhone. Clint's car has a thing. And even then, why can't kids just be bored? Right. I have been, my mum used to be a merchandiser, which meant, like, if I had a day that I had to be off school or a sick, I'd sit in her car because that was her job. And she would go in and either go and first she did sunrise, she was a merchandise
Starting point is 00:05:22 of her sunrise, and then she was for St. John's medical alarms. So she'd have to sit at medical alarms like an hour and a half. And I just sat in the car. with nothing for an hour and a half. God, that's quite a different two two products, isn't it? Sunrise and then medical alarms. It's quite sunrise. It's rice.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Rice, sunrise. So she'd do rice in the morning and medical arms in the afternoon. Two different life, like two different jobs. Oh, right. She was doing both at the same time. Oh, good. She'd be like, what am I doing now? Do you want some rice in your house?
Starting point is 00:05:48 No. I'm sorry. No, it's St. John Medical Lab. Yeah. She's done a lot. Your mum? She has done a lot. That woman has had so many jobs.
Starting point is 00:05:57 So if you start feeling chest pain, just press this piece of rice. Sorry. No, I've got a confused to get it. All right, listen up for your cuticle. Get on the show next to score yourself 100 bucks. Thanks to our brand new sponsor, MTF Finance.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Listen to your favorite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint McGinn Dan. The Edge. First call of the day. First call on the day. All right, 100 bucks up for grabs. Thanks to our brand new sponsor, MTF Finance. We've spun the wheel of random yarns.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Spun up money. So a story that has anything to do with money, how much you've made, how much you've lost, how much you've lent You never got back And James called through Who we have spoken to me before Morning James
Starting point is 00:06:34 Good morning guys How are we? Oh our first division Lotto winner From a couple of weeks back Is it really you James Really Yeah
Starting point is 00:06:44 Nah Still getting up early Still going to work Oh wow James Jog our memory For people that maybe didn't hear your call
Starting point is 00:06:51 Last time you were on How much did you win In Lotto First Division I put up My son runs around and people say, how much is your dad when? And he goes, got six zeros behind it.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Got six zeros behind it. So it's been, go on. So we got, we were lucky enough, we were lucky enough for one eight, 150K. Yeah. And it's been a couple of weeks
Starting point is 00:07:13 since it got into your bank account. How much has been spent of it since then? 13 grand. 13 grand in a couple of weeks. That's very resistant. What did you buy, James, with the 13 grand? It wasn't for me.
Starting point is 00:07:33 It was for my son. It was for his birthday. He had the 18th birthday from hell, and he got his new race car. Oh, wow. Epic. Oh, my gosh. I know that you want to keep that as a secret, so that's really exciting. How often did you keep refreshing the bank account,
Starting point is 00:07:50 just having a look at the balance when it first landed in the account? About every 20 seconds. Yeah. Wow. You sound very light and happy. I have a story for you. Go on. And I've actually got two stories for you.
Starting point is 00:08:08 The first one is this is a warning to anyone that wins a significant amount of money on lotto. Okay. Never, ever, ever in a million years, take your lotto ticket down on a Sunday to the lotto chaos. Okay. I found that out the hard way because everyone there does not know what. they're doing. Yeah, yeah, it took a long time for you to figure that out. Yeah, yeah, it took a real long time.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And then you fill out all your paperwork, you speak to the lottery commission's lady, all good, then they take your ticket off you, and they put it into an envelope and it goes into a special box, and they have to courier through to the lottery submission, and they lost the ticket. Oh, they lost the ticket. Oh, so that's a big mistake. I was about to play a small violin for you, James, thinking this is first world issues, you won $850,000.
Starting point is 00:09:01 But then I'm like, but no, but they did actually lose your ticket, which is actually quite concerning. No, they literally lost the ticket in the store. Oh, my God, but because you've got camera footage of you going in and scanning, whatever, I suppose. Oh, yeah, there was nothing to spewed in it because we had the serial number from the paperwork I had to fill out plus the serial number of the ticket.
Starting point is 00:09:22 But the problem was, is the lottery submission because of tax reasons need to take. So they found that they did find it three days later. Oh, that's good. That's good. That is a good result. Now, James, we don't have much time, so we'll have to get your story another story the other time.
Starting point is 00:09:39 But you have got a choice to make. You've just won $100 because you've come on air. And told your story. For the first caller of the day. Now, some people would say if you kept that, it's a bit greedy. But it is yours. But it is yours. You deserve it.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Would you like to keep your $100 or pass it on to the? next caller. I'll pass it on to the next caller. That's lovely, James. Thank you, James. Look at those phones light up, but I actually have Charlotte. Charlotte, congratulations. James has given his hundred bucks to you.
Starting point is 00:10:11 That's so nice. Thanks, James. Now, you haven't just won lotto, by the way, have you? No, definitely not. No, no, but when she said her story was when I was a kid, I was a bit overweight and he used to steal money from dad's wallet for the tuck shop. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Well, there you go. It's a little bit on the very, it's the opposite vibe of James. But yeah, I'd go breakfast, breakfast, morning tea, lunch every day. And I'm not proud of it. But, yeah, that's my money story. Nice. Are you now a nutritionist? I am a dietitian now.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Yeah, so it's a hungry other way. Too many touch shop visits as a kid. God, you're funny, Charlotte. That's so good. I can't believe how reserved James. I mean, I love that people spend time thinking about what they want to do with their money before they just go blow it all, but
Starting point is 00:11:00 850 grand, he's had it for two weeks and only dropped 13K for his son's 18th birthday. That's a lot of money, isn't it? Well, not if your son's having a big 18th, you'd want to, if you had the money to... And also, like... No, he's not been... He's a smart man, he's not being silly with it. If he put that in an interest account, you'd probably nearly be able
Starting point is 00:11:17 to live off that, the interest. Yeah, you're smart, eh? Yeah. All right, next. Coming up in scandal headlines. Rihanna has admitted how many unreleased tracks she has in a vault How many unreleased songs does Rihanna have? She spoke about it yesterday. How many unreleased songs are you sitting on?
Starting point is 00:11:38 If there are 10 products in a vault, then I have at least 17 faults. Woo! Bloody how? 170 unreleased tracks, she said at least. God, what percentage of their most shitters, though? Probably most of them, hence she's not released them, right? But there must be a couple in there that are all right. To be honest, if Rihanna released anything, we'd be happy, wouldn't we?
Starting point is 00:12:01 No, but the problem is it's been so long now. So much pressure at 10 years. Yeah, the pressure of it being good. But you're right, out of 170 songs, it's got to be one song. It has to be at least on her. We have to be getting something before the end of the year. The more that she's talking about it surely, right? I thought she'd given up because she was like, I'm a billionaire now, so I don't need to.
Starting point is 00:12:16 We need another shut up and drive. Yeah. That's my favourite of hers. She did say, though, I don't think it's what people are expecting from me. So I don't think we were Yeah, there it is, Dan. Hey, sorted, celebrated 25 years as your trusted free guy for all things money.
Starting point is 00:12:33 The Edge. Just H just hits. In Auckland. Just gone half six. All right, let's settle this. What is the argument you would like people to settle for you this morning, Dan? We're talking etiquette next, table etiquette. When you're out for a dinner, especially, and your food
Starting point is 00:12:51 comes out before everyone else's. This winds me out. Are you allowed to eat it before everyone else's? I say you should. I think so too. I get so annoyed at the idea that I feel pressure as well. If somebody else gets their food and they're waiting for me to get mine, I feel guilty that they can't eat it.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I'm always like, eat yours now before it gets cold. Eat yours now. But some people are always stickness to the rules. You wait for everybody to get their meal. Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan. It's Clint Megan Dan's. And let's settle this. Let's settle this.
Starting point is 00:13:23 this right now. Etiquette's a funny thing, isn't it? Especially when it's table etiquette when you're out for dinner. I think it's slowly but surely dying away. Like I remember I used to get when I was at home, when I lived at home as a kid, my mum would always be like get elbows off the table. I never hear that anymore. I think all the etiquette is fighting away.
Starting point is 00:13:40 You know, like standing, the man stands on the side of the footpath that's closer to the traffic or opens doors for people. It doesn't happen much anymore. But this one is specifically about going out. Yeah. We're out the other night with, there was. five of us. It was my wife, another couple, and then a single person with us. It's weird, like a two and a half date.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Yeah, because she's like, she doesn't have a partner, and so we, you don't invite her. Oh, that's nice that you still take her out. You still take her out. She's some sad little... Yeah, yeah. I mean, she is quite sad. No, I'm joking. And we, we ordered, and my food came out first, and I started hoeing into mistake. I should. And Hannah glens over. And she goes, Dan, stop eating. Everybody else hasn't got their food. Like, who cares?
Starting point is 00:14:23 But no one's looking at me going, oh, look at him, eating his food before. I want mine piping hot. Yeah, Hannah's the only one, though. I think we need to change the etiquette rules. Now, if you're out for dinner, your food comes out, start eating as soon as it hits there. You don't have to wait for everyone else to get their food. It would be good to have a new flat rule because I feel it depends on who you're with. You'll get your food first and it's almost like you're waiting for somebody to give you permission to go, go and eat.
Starting point is 00:14:50 I'll always sit and wait until somebody goes, oh, no, go on so I look polite but I'm desperate for somebody to tell me. I love that person. That's good to know. We'll never tell her. Oh, piss off, poo. No, no. No permission. I think it depends on the number. I think if you're in a group of four, you wait.
Starting point is 00:15:07 But if you're in a group of like maybe it's five plus or maybe it's eight plus or whatever. Like if you're in a big group then, nah, you're just food's going to go cold while you're waiting for everyone else. Who ordered something crazy? I think it's on the restaurant to at least bring the food out within three minutes of the first one coming out. Because it was a good five minutes before the last person got their food.
Starting point is 00:15:26 So if I'm waiting five long minutes, so I've got this beautiful bit of steak in front of me, oh, I'm salivating. Yeah, I can't. I can't hold myself. Steve Briggins, yeah, it's up to you to tell people that you want the food coming out all at the same time. Well, you always do. I mean, surely they know that we would all want to eat at the same time. A lot of restaurants will tell you, hey, by the way, the way things happen here,
Starting point is 00:15:46 when it's ready, it comes out, you know, so that you know. What was also, the people are texting through about the elbows on the table? What was with that? Was everybody, every kid in like early 2000s, like late 90s were told get your elbows off the table when you're eating dinner? Why? Even hands have got to be way dirtier than elbows and you're allowed to have your hands on the table. Let's have a show of hands all the producers now. Were you told by your parents get elbows off the table?
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yes. Yeah, all the time. I was. Don't know why. The rule against putting your elbows on the table was from apparently safety, personal space concerns and historical social customs. So unstable tables back in the medieval Europe. Table table. In the 1500s, dining setups often used temporary trestle tables, which meant lean you arboes could mean they would tip.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Personal space apparently because the families used to be much bigger. Now we're having families of like four or three. They used to be families with five, six kids, and there would only be a certain amount of space. So if you put your abels out, it was almost like man spreading on a train. So what we had to do as a kid? It's the man spread of the hands. If we just Google it and show up to mum and go,
Starting point is 00:16:47 Mom, why are we doing this? This is medieval tradition. Only Clint was alive in medieval times. And then apparently it also forces you to sit up straight rather than slouching over your plates. Right. There you go. Well, there you go. So what happens?
Starting point is 00:16:59 Let's go back to the original argument. What are you doing? Let's settle this. Let's come a blanket rule. Yeah. If the food comes out, you get yours first. Do you start eating or you're waiting for everyone else to get it? Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax.
Starting point is 00:17:12 The Edge. It's time to get naughty at 640. Jay Dan, who used to work here at the Edge now works over at a different radio station. I would say our brother radio station The Rock. He is also a good friend of us and is the boyfriend of our darling web girl Bella. I chatted with him this morning. He told me about a group chat that he's in.
Starting point is 00:17:30 He said it's called the UFC. Not what I assumed it would stand for, which is, of course, Ultimate Fight Something. Fighting Championship? Yeah. No, this stands for Ultimate Fart Club. And it's a group of 200 men. He said he's never met one of them.
Starting point is 00:17:45 200? Wait, and none of them know each other personally? No, none of them. know each other. Somehow this group started, maybe the first three or four knew each other and then other people got added. He got added by a friend of a friend and he got added to this group and all they do is send voice notes
Starting point is 00:18:00 of their farts to each other. And he said that one... Clint, you need to get in this group. I'm not the fire guy, mate. He said at one point they actually tried to, people tried to make friendships and somebody wrote in the chat like has anyone been to Belgium before?
Starting point is 00:18:17 I'm looking at traveling, looking at going any recommendations and somebody wrote back said, yeah, yeah, I've been to Belgium, you should go to this and this. Then one man said, shut the F up and fart. The conversation died. It's like, this is purely for farts. Honestly, if you want to talk about Belgium,
Starting point is 00:18:36 doing another chat. Not this one. This is only farts. Now, there's only one man. Because guys who get excited going, oh, tune your notifications. And then when he goes there, there's zero farts. No, there is one man that has a nickname. Everybody else is their normal names in the group chat,
Starting point is 00:18:49 10099 men of normal names but one nicknamed man he is called the last airbender and I want to be part of it and he has been in retirement and has come out of retirement and sent a fart and I have the audio would you like to hear it?
Starting point is 00:19:04 Now here's the thing I feel if we play it everybody has to hear it yeah okay we can't hide it from the listeners no I would then argue though I don't want to be known as the fart show. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Well, I was just Googling what is the world record for the longest fart and it says a man went viral for a 40 second continuous fart in Argentina though the Guinness World Records does not officially track the longest fart category. I don't think they should. I think
Starting point is 00:19:35 it's a little bit low ground. Well, this one's 32. Wow, okay. Now, if that interests you. Has it been verified as real? Yes. Well, I don't know as far as I don't why anybody would send a fake fart. Why don't we do a thing here where we go 3343 on the text?
Starting point is 00:19:54 If we have, we can get 100 texts. 100. In the next three minutes or so of people saying play it, we'll play it. I hope I haven't broken the rules of Fart Club. Can we not play Farts on the radio? First of all, it's Fart Club. Don't play it on radio. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:10 I think, look, I want to hear it, but we need to get a little bit of support from the audience. I don't know. how many people are rocking like super specific dumb chats like this? Right, so just for sending back. I mean, I'm not. I've got a lot of group chats, but none of them just for, oh. Like just for something super specific and then that's it. Yeah, like I, whenever you go out and maybe you see noodles.
Starting point is 00:20:40 Noodles, it's just photos of noodles. Sure, I could be produced. Some of the text coming through. I'm in a ridiculous one. It's dumb. And like the people in there, Every day I'm just like, oh, it's called the Edge Breakfast group chat. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Yeah, it's just like a couple of us. It's just ridiculous. Yeah, there's a lot of texts coming through people wanting to hear the said fart. If we get 100 texts saying play it, we'll play it next. I have been forwarded of art for 32 seconds worth, apparently. So we asked if you wanted to hear if we got 100 texts. Well over 100. Let's go to the phones.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Millie. or no? Yeah, definitely. Do it. I can't wait to hear it. We're asking people if we play it on the radio. Chris? Yeah, I say let it rip.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Let it go. Well, if the unofficial world record is 40 seconds, Meg, you said this is what? 32. So it's seeing someone get close to being the world's best. Pip? Oh, definitely. A fart is always funny. Brilliant.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Okay, so we're going to do. I agree. I agree. When you hear a good one. You have a bit of a giggle, don't you? And the thing about hearing it on the radio is you're getting all the fun without any of the consequence. Now, the funny thing is, I said, if we get 100 texts, we'll play it. We've had well over 100, and no one, not one person said don't play it.
Starting point is 00:22:03 So guess what? Sorry, Jack, our boss. Clint, if you could bring down the music in the background, here we go. So this is a part that Meg's been forded by a friend of ours. And... It's real legit. It wasn't in the planning meeting yesterday. No, it was it.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Hey, let's leave that one off the podcast. I reckon Brady. That was just for the... If you were here, you go... It'll be a bloody dog podcast. For your favourite game, Easy money. Here we go, one past seven.
Starting point is 00:23:09 We'll chuck 30 seconds on the clock. If you can give us 10 answers starting with the letter L without repeating any answers, we'll give you a thousand bucks. Hi, Michael. Morning, how are you? Yeah, good, Michael, from Tootong
Starting point is 00:23:21 and Michael McClatchy. Is that your last name? It's it. Lovely. Lovely. Yeah. Lovely. All right, Michael, here we go.
Starting point is 00:23:27 The letter is L. Yep. Okay, time starts at the end of Manga's asking you your first question. We've got our score sheets ready. Let's see if we can get ten. Give me a boy's name. Lucas. An occupation.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Laborer. Something you make for dinner. Visagna. A city. London. A drink. Lemonade. A four-letter word.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Lean. Something you take to work. Lunch. A TV show. Lupin A flower Lily A song title
Starting point is 00:24:08 Layla Yes Everybody know the TV show Lupin? That was the only question mark I had Michael I'm googling it
Starting point is 00:24:23 Right I've seen Lupin Yeah Three show Don't it Don't on a Thousand dollars Richie my bro
Starting point is 00:24:29 Yeah That was a masterclass In it You took your time To think through it But not too long Oh all of our Anusus was
Starting point is 00:24:38 Pucked on the last question Where you were just saying Nothing I was like You've got three or four seconds left, bro. Well done, Michael. You just don't even know what number
Starting point is 00:24:46 you're up to. No, yeah. What is it? I've said it before. When you hear someone like yourself play the game, you just make it look easy. Like, that was almost like
Starting point is 00:24:54 you had the answers in front of you, you know? Like, you were just answering straight away. Well done. Get on you, bro. Congratulations. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Awesome. What do you spend it on? What do you spend a grand on this morning? Oh, I'm getting married in February, so the money is definitely going towards that. Nice. Who is listening. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:25:12 Oh, wow. Well, you can go towards that, or you can put towards the honeymoon or... Mate, that was so clean. Floorless, no pastures. No, ums or ours either, by the way. Wow. What time to spare, nice. Yeah, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:25:26 That's how you do it, Michael. You hold that, bro. We'll grab your bank details and get that cash into it, ASAT. I think he's the new benchmark. You know, like that person that we go, who was the best? He's there. And guess what? If you think you can do it as well, back again at 8.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Cliff McIntan, Edge Breakfast. Tova O'Brien is moderating, the one-use multi-party. debate tonight. 7pm on 1. It is a tough job. I hope you're getting paid well to do it. It's a very good job though, isn't it? Yeah, it's funny because we watch obviously the debate between the Chris and Chris last week and there was a lot of talk of it's what we talked about on the show afterwards. How many people are actually five? Five very opinion and if I'm thinking it's David Seymour, Chloe Swarberg and then Winston Peters is going to be there too. Klauang. Kulah Wong. Yes, all shrinking violence. Actually shrinking violence is
Starting point is 00:26:10 probably more than term. But yeah, you know, I'm going to be a conductor of kind of chaos. What you need is like a special button on your plinth where you can turn mics on and off. I think that's what Jack needed with the two of them. We discussed that like putting them in soundproof booths and when you're like enough you just turn their mic off.
Starting point is 00:26:26 There's a line isn't there where you want them jumping in a little bit to be able to make a point particularly if it's funny and it kind of brings energy and they can make a point but you don't want them all clambering and talking over each other so no one can understand a word that they're saying so I was trying to find that balance I think. There's a lot of power in these people isn't there when it comes to
Starting point is 00:26:42 government because it looks like it's both of our options at the moment, national labour, aren't doing amazing. Yeah, this is at the minor parties, as they were once known, which they definitely are not now, have never been more important in New Zealand political history. They will determine the next election. We just don't know, we don't know what's going to happen. I've always wondered with you, Tova, because you quite often have a lot of heated exchanges with certain politicians.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Say you've had quite a heated debate with Chris Hipkins or Christopher Luxon on here. You go to ads, the mics turn off. What's the conversation after that? Totally friendly and respectful. Yeah, that's my rule of politics, is just to respect people equally and to only ever say things about them that you would say to their faces. And after every one of those, I'll be like, that was great, or that was fun, or whatever. Thank you very much for coming in.
Starting point is 00:27:26 And then, yeah, have you found they the same with you? No, I can't imagine Winston being that courteous. He's pretty good. Like, he can definitely hold a grudge if it's something serious. You know, there was about three years there where he wouldn't talk to me. Yes. He's gone over that. I brought him up.
Starting point is 00:27:43 I think if you kind of try and be respectful. Have you ever had someone sort of get up and just walk off? Winston. Yeah, yeah. A couple times. Okay, Toby, here's a question for you before you go. You're driving on your car breaks down. You've got your phone on you and I can imagine you've got a lot of numbers of politicians.
Starting point is 00:27:58 You can only call one politician to come and help you on the side of the road. Who are you calling? Winston Peters. No. He knows how to change a tire. Yeah, but he's not picking up your foot. He didn't talk to three years. He's not doing it out.
Starting point is 00:28:09 No, we cold call him and he's always. Winston, who's this? I've got Winston's number. Let's see if he answers. See if he answers my call, and I'm going to tell him the good news that he's been voted. He will. He does pick up one-not numbers.
Starting point is 00:28:21 It's such a boomer thing. He doesn't. I think he doesn't, though. I think it's been blocked. Hello. Hi, Winston, it's Dan here from the edge. How are you? All right, thank you.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Now, we've got Tova O'Brien for an interview. I said to her, I gave her a hypothetical scenario, Winston. If she broke down on the side of the road, and I said to her, she could call one politician to come and help her. She said you.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Nah, what she means is I might know how to fix the motor or fix it. That's exactly what I said, Winston. I can trust that you know what you're doing. And you'd look good doing it in your suit. Oh, no, I just might put a cover over my suit, but I'd get the job done. He puts some overalls on and then he'd fix that carburetor. We won't take up any more of your time. You need to probably prep for the debate.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Don't block this number. Okay, see you. See you, mate. All right, seven o'clock. The seating plan's important. Tonight, one news, the multi-party debate with Tover O'Brien. Good luck. Guys, love your work.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Does anyone know much around the signs that are going up around the country, Labor National, all the other parties, you see them everywhere? Does anyone know anything about that? I've heard you don't have to pay anyone to put it up. But if you're in government housing, do you just have to have the signs up? Well, I've seen them in a lot of just open spaces around my area. They're in like the berms or like their fields of parks. I've got an idea for the show, but I really love to know a little bit more around the rules around where you can and can't put signs
Starting point is 00:29:43 and do you pay people or not? And can you scratch their eyes out and deface them? No, you're not allowed to. This is the Clint McGinn-Dan catch-up. Want to hear the guys off here and a little looser? Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. Clint-Mig and Dan, what are you, like, less than a couple of weeks away from the general election?
Starting point is 00:30:00 Yes. No, no, it's a little bit over a couple of weeks. It is the election's on the 7th of November, clan. Okay, well, I see these signs popping up all around the place. And we've discussed it on the show before, especially the ones outside. private property and I'm like is that property owned by the government so it's government housing or are they being paid to put signs up and then they've just taken payment from five different
Starting point is 00:30:24 parties because they're not necessarily pledging their allegiance to one specifically turns out after doing a bit of research and thank you as well for your texts you have to voluntarily agree to have a sign on your property you cannot be paid unless you're a business that offers paid placement for advertising like you own billboard or whatever. Oh, I understand. Which is interesting, because there's a house down the road from my house
Starting point is 00:30:46 that has every party on their fence. So is that just the epitome? It is slussing themselves out to everyone. Is that the epitome of someone who can't say no? So they say yes to the first party, and then other parties are like, oh, well, if they've got one sign up, we'll see if they'll put our sign on.
Starting point is 00:30:59 There's a people pleaser in there. Do you think by the time they've got two or three faces, somebody else just gives their face a go and puts it on and without even asking? You know what I mean? Like they see that it's kind of like, oh, well, willy-nilly? And then is it your responsibility?
Starting point is 00:31:13 if it's on your property to make sure it's not defaced as well. Yeah, or like take it down afterwards. It's so interesting, is it, what the psyche of the people are that do this? It says written consent is required, but people generally not paid. And I thought, while everyone's looking at these signs as we're all driving around, if you don't need to pay, because obviously to market our show, it costs money to put it on billboards,
Starting point is 00:31:35 why can't we just go around, print out some big core flutes of our sign in our face, and just go whack him in the ground right next to one of the chrises? Well, Nikki's called on 0-800-year. Sorry, Meg. She's got a sign on her property. Morning, Nikki. Hi. Who are you promoting on the side of your house?
Starting point is 00:31:53 Labor. And did they knock on the door and ask? Or did you say, you're just a big... I reached out to the local MP. Yeah. Oh, and you lost it? I asked him to the fire up. Can we put Meg and Dan sign as well next to it outside your place?
Starting point is 00:32:10 Yay. Yay! We've got one, thank you, Nikki. Okay, we're going to send one. your way. It's seven metres by four metres. You just put it up. Yeah. Okay. This is great. This is a good idea. I like your thinking here, Clint.
Starting point is 00:32:23 Because it does seem like it's fair game for anybody to put up a sign in these places and these areas. Why don't we do it for our show? I saw a whole bunch of politicians lined up and then assigned for a fireworks show. So I guess people are just taking the opportunity. Especially if you've got a property that has
Starting point is 00:32:38 really good, like, foot traffic or just like traffic that's going past all the time. There are some goodies. producer car, did you print out all the core floats? Yeah, so I ordered a bunch of core flutes with big photos of you guys and edge, you know, logos all over it. A core flute?
Starting point is 00:32:54 Oh, you know, like what do you call those signs that real estate signs? Yeah, idiot. And I've got some stakes that we can like hammer into the ground and, yeah, so that's going to be fun. So after the show, we're going to go out and there's a whole lot of different locations and we'll just put them right next to Labor, National. Will we? So I'll print it off.
Starting point is 00:33:11 So I feel like, Clint. This idea was a brainstorm and now already we've got the posters. It's weird that he's printed out some that said Meg Mansel for finance minister. I don't know about that one. As soon as I found out you don't have to pay and in fact you're legally not allowed to pay, I was like, how good is this? It's just free promo for the show. Yeah, it doesn't say that it has to be politician.
Starting point is 00:33:33 No. So we start putting them all around the streets outside Nicky's house. Yeah, thanks, Nikki. In fact, if you've got like a house right now, O-A-U-Aid-H that's in like a really high traffic area. You know, you're on the corner of a big intersection in Christchurch, at Wellington, somewhere. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Give us a call, O-A-Und of the Edge. We'll send Clint down, and he can staple the thing up on your house. Well, much like Nikki, if you're a big fan of the show, maybe we just send you one. You can put it up outside your house. And for the next few weeks, while the elections are running, everyone's checking out the signs. It might be a good way to promote the show.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Don't all jump at it at once, though, guys. No. No, no. It's very, very limited. Limited signs available. Get in quick. Very lucky and special. While stocks last and all that.
Starting point is 00:34:15 Hey, you would have seen all the drama that went down maybe with Kelly Clarkson and the small business in Brooklyn. I would know what team you're on. If you have missed it, I'll get you up to date and a couple. Your favorite radio show? It's podcast for Edge Breakfast, Clint Megyn Dan. Kelly Clarkson's in hot water on the internet. But she...
Starting point is 00:34:33 She's not actually... She's actually winning. Oh, is she? Yeah, she's winning. I was going to say, well, she brought it on herself. No, you can guess what she's got 8 million followers, so of course she's winning. Oh, okay. To a little store.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Right, let me go through it. If you've missed this. Kelly Clarkson sent out a tweet. And she said, hello. Why is she still tweeting? I went to a store in Brooklyn, very fancy place, if you don't know, over in America. And I checked out this little store that I thought was really rad. And it is quite rad.
Starting point is 00:34:57 It's called The Art of Play. And it's like a magician shop, something I would very much so love to go to. Would you? They host, yeah, I love magicians. They host little weekends. It's like a theater, magician, toy store, all in one. And they sell things that are curious and fun. silly and kids go and also adults go and they host little magic shows on the weekends.
Starting point is 00:35:16 But it's also Brooklyn. So it was a Ponzi sort of version of that, if you can imagine. And she said, I went and I looked at a few things. And I looked at some stuff and I wanted to buy something. And I said, wow, I want to get this. And they said, I couldn't afford it and to find something else for me. Wow, dude, you're an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But you should go to Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts
Starting point is 00:35:40 some pretty woman, check it out. They came back. Oh, so now it's a public fight. Yeah, so she said, I wanted to buy this. They said, you can't afford that. They came back and they said, okay, well, what you wanted to buy was a mechanical bird that's permanently attached the wall.
Starting point is 00:35:56 You can't have everything. You can't buy that. You can't buy that, right? So they came back with that, and everyone was then like, hey, Kelly, you're an idiot. So that's like me going into a cafe and going, I'll have the TV, please. And they're like, no, that's the TV for the wall.
Starting point is 00:36:09 It's not for sale. Kelly comes back and she goes What's this then? And it has a sale tag on it because she took a photo $15,000. Oh, Talley's team. Now I'm back on Team Kelly. It was for sale.
Starting point is 00:36:22 It's just crazy expensive and they thought no one would buy it. Yeah, so she said cool, cool, sure, it wasn't for sale. It just had a price tag hanging on the wall with the title Singing Bird. Get them, Kelly! Now they have come back again. And they have said
Starting point is 00:36:37 look, we'd like to clarify one more time. During the five minutes, Kelly spent on the store, she inquired about our mechanical bird puppet, her name is Molly. We have posts about it all throughout our page that she's a big part of the store. We explain that while Molly is permanently attached to the wall and serves as the mascot of our shop, a nearly identical automation is available for $15,000. We explain this all to Kelly,
Starting point is 00:37:03 and we offered to show her a different bird as well. That was $2,000, but she didn't stick around long, long enough to see it and we have hoped that one day she can laugh about this and the misunderstanding that has happened since. Now their page has been completely flooded with one-star reviews with millions of comments saying how disgusting they are. I just want to bring it back to the fact that this is all about the fact that Kelly didn't like being thought that somebody thought she was poor.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Like it's, do you know what I mean? Like this is what the fight is that she's decided to go out and get really upset about to the point of tweeting to 8 million people, how dear they thought I was poor. And I'm not, I'm rich. It's a $15,000 bird a knife. If I wanted, I should be able to buy it. Yeah, I want to see the bird now.
Starting point is 00:37:48 It's very amazing. It's an incredible, like, puppet bird. It's amazing. It should be for 15 jeez. Yeah, it's incredible. But I just find it really weird that this is the fight that she wants to have. Like, how dare they think I'm poor? I don't give it.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Like, who cares? If they did think you're poor, you go, oh, it's all good. I can afford it. Why does that affect you so much? Well, Melissa disagrees with you me, she's saying from everything I've seen, I'm Team Kelly. The store isn't damage control and still being condescending with the replies. But who cares that?
Starting point is 00:38:12 People thought she was poor. I just don't see that as a huge insult. Like, that's not, it's not racism. It's not sexism. It's like they thought she couldn't afford something for $15,000. Well, she can. She's got millions and millions of dollars. There was a bit of a mic drop line, though, from the store in their last tweet.
Starting point is 00:38:29 She goes, well, as a famous musician once said, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Good. I'm Team Storm Yes We would be against the internet If we're Team Store Yeah very much
Starting point is 00:38:42 So a lot of people sticking up for Kelly here I find it a really weird fight With everything that's going on in the world And all the things that are happening around us The thing that she is most wound up about Is that somebody thought she couldn't afford something For 15K
Starting point is 00:38:52 Okay And putting your 8 million followers behind it Because yeah you would go Is this going to be worth the online fight? But you're better to your friends I get that I get that it's annoying I get that it feels rude
Starting point is 00:39:03 Maybe it makes you feel icky I'd write it to my group chat. I wouldn't tweet about it and bring a store down for it. If I was Kelly Clarkson and I'd tweet back and go, if you're a magic store, you can make the negative stuff disappear. Oh, not bad. Not bad. Not bad, Dan.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Come up with another song. Listen live weekdays from Sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan. The Edge. And who is about to win the first tickets to Jim Beam HomeGow? One, two, three. The Edge is stoked to present Jim Beam Homegrown. Portland's back in Hamilton.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Saturday, April 3rd. chuck it in the diary if you want to be there. You're going to be seen Fabredis drop. Of course. You're going to be seen Shapes, Shapes, Shapeshester. The Dame Dobbins can be there, Savage, Alameda. Not Alameda. No, they have to be Kiwi Big.
Starting point is 00:39:53 That would be a turn of the time. No, Club Sachi and Moore. It's going to be amazing. As per usual, it's always a great day. Such a good time. And what a time to just support Kiwit music? You know, we've got such an incredible New Zealand music industry here in New Zealand, some very talented people. Last time was all Dave Dobbin here in studio.
Starting point is 00:40:11 I was like, hey, how long do you reckon you keep going for it? And he goes, as long as I can. As long as he gets the call, right? Yeah. As long as people keep calling. Shea, you're going to be seeing all those people live. Oh, my God. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:40:24 You've got a crew pass, Shea. So you and three mates will be a Jim Beam homegrown next April for free. Oh my God. That's amazing. Oh, my God. Thank you so much. This is amazing. No worries.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Have you been to Jim Beam Homegrown before? Yes, I am, oh my God, I went when I was 18, which was days. You don't need to do the maths. 12 years ago. Wow. Yeah, 12 years ago. And then I went last year and it was sick. The key with Jim Beam Homegrown is, and you'll know this if you've been before,
Starting point is 00:40:52 you have to be organized about which stage you're going to be at when. Yeah, for sure. Because, you know, there's so many great artists that you don't want to miss your faves. John Too Good Op Shop, Alamino P, uh, Deadly Skin. I wouldn't want to miss that one. Oh my God, it's too many to choose on. I'm so excited. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:41:10 You're welcome, Shay. It's just picking the friends now, I think. Yeah. That'll be the tricky part. Also, general tickets are going to go on sale. 7.30 in the morning Thursday. All right, 7.30 a.m. Thursday. You can get all the full ticketing and event details.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Always on Rover. It's going to be a hell of a good time. Listen out for your other cuticles to get your friends. tickets and headlong right here on the edge. 20 years of Jim Beam homegrown. How great's that? It's an institution. It is, it is.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Speaking of institutions, segment on this show that has become very controversial. A-lister. The A-lister list is next. Right, which three celebrities will Meg throw out for us to fight over? We'll find out in a couple of minutes. Clint Meg and Dan.
Starting point is 00:41:56 Edge Breakfast. The Edge. The three names I'm looking for to see whether they're A-list, B-list or C-lis as decided by you, morning are Mr. Ben. Okay. Oh, so we talk about. Or do I do Rowan Atkinson. Rowan Atkinson, I guess.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Or no, Mr. Bean. Have we ever done a character before? Have we ever done a character? I think you have to do Rowan Atkinson Atkinson knowing that he is Mr. Bean, which helps his A-list status. Yeah. Get out around the world. C-list. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:29 50-cent. Which one are you going to go with? 50. You're going to commit? Yeah, I'm going to commit. 50-cent. I would put... Now, this is a tricky one with Fitty C
Starting point is 00:42:41 because the name Fiddy C, most, in fact, I would say that's A-List status. People go, he's a rapper. Mr. Bean's a C in Fitty C's in A. No, Mr. Bean different. I think Rowan Atkinson, if we're talking just about the actor, he's not an A-L-L-Sat. Rowan-A-L-L-A-L-N is Mr. Vane.
Starting point is 00:42:56 It's not like Spider-Man where he had like three different people play him. Mr. Mr. Bean is Ron Atkins. Yeah, I think most people know him as Mr. Bean's. That's why I'm calling him. Yeah. No, it's Mr. Bean.
Starting point is 00:43:04 Okay. Mr. to be in 50 cent and Madonna. I don't like her. I don't like her music. I think she can be a bit of a B. But she's an A-lister.
Starting point is 00:43:18 I agree. I don't like her either for some reason. Was she the first single-name celebrity? Or did she beat her to it? I think Madonna's long. Napoleon was a bit earlier as well. But I think, you know, I think in terms of pop stars and celebrities. Dynamite.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Jesus was another one that sort of worked by one name. Yeah, Jesus actually. He's probably the first name, Christ. Oh, you're true? He's Jesus Christ. Yeah, but Madonna's probably got a last name as well. We all just know who is Madonna. What are you, but is Madonna's last name?
Starting point is 00:43:45 Because Jesus is Christ. Probably Smith or something. Let's see, what is Madonna's last name? Hold on the second. Yeah. If we're talking about bona fide alist as Madonna's top of the pie. I think she's Sisson. C-I-C-O-N-E.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Have you ever heard of that before? No, no, there you go. Madonna, do we even need to debate her? She's an A-lister. Everybody's heard. Yeah, okay. We'll take your arguments if you've got a strong one against it, but otherwise we're sort of looking to put her in the A list so that leaves 50 cent I think's an A list. I agree. I think the only thing that would maybe drop him down to a B is a people might not know what he looks like. They know his music. Actually, that's not a bad argument because you're right, you hear the name, you go, you're 50 cent the rapper.
Starting point is 00:44:29 But if I held up five rappers and then went around the streets and were like, which one's 50 cent? Do you think 90% of people would pick the right face? I'm just wondering if my mum or your dad, for instance, that era of the person... The fact that you guys are even talking about this means he's a B. Yeah, well, we're just making sure we're putting him in the right place. We take this very seriously. He's a B. If 50 cents a B, then Rowan Atkinson can't be A.
Starting point is 00:44:54 Yeah, true. Rowan Atkinson. Mr. Bean is more famous than 50 cents. If you ask, like Gen Z's now, who played Mr. Bean? I don't think they'd know Rowan Atkinson. No, but they know Mr. Bean. Is this the first week that Dan and I have agreed on all three across the board? I'm disagree.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Oh my gosh, we hug? No. Give us a call, O'Anonage. We'll just text us 3, 3, 3, 4, 3. Three celebrities a week, A, B, or C list. Yeah, I'm locking it, and we're doing Mr. Bean because it's getting confusing with if it's Rowan Ackinson or Mr. Bean. So it's Mr. Bean we're talking about. You guys in the past have done Ronald McDonald, haven't you?
Starting point is 00:45:31 Yeah, we have. I wasn't here for that, so we're doing Mr. Bean. Okay, so if we're locking in Mr. Bean. he is one of the bona fide A listers in my opinion Mr Bean was syndicated into 245 countries around the world What does that mean syndicated? Be shocked if there's anybody that's never heard of Mr Bean The crazy thing is Mr Bean they only ever made 15 episodes
Starting point is 00:45:55 You think they would have made like 40, 50, 60 episodes, they only had 15 Hello, I'm Dr Bean apparently and my job is to sit and look at paintings. Can I also say, just for something, when looking at the list of A-list, is I think of Mr Bean, not Robin, but Mr Bean walked into the room. Every single one of them will be stopped.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Start on the show. Yeah, and everyone would be wanting a photo with them. All right, let's go to Zara on 0800 the edge. Zara, Mr. Bean. Hi, Sarah. Hey, Zara. You happy with Mr. Bean being an A? Well, I was saying
Starting point is 00:46:34 I wouldn't have known who Rowan Atkinson is But I think Mr Bean is probably an A And I also know him from the Wonka movie The recent one Okay And what about 50 cents I think he's a B
Starting point is 00:46:49 Okay, thank you, Zara Let's go to Holly Holly, you're a Gen Z Yes Do you know who Mr. Bean is? Yeah, I do But I don't know Who Rowan Atkinson is
Starting point is 00:47:01 Right Okay, so it's just as well we've separated the two. That's what I said. Mr. Bean, A, Lister. You should have said that, Dan. Okay. Let's go to Lizzie. Lizzie, are we locking in Mr. Bean as A?
Starting point is 00:47:12 Yeah, because he transcends language, whereas Madonna and 50 cent, only English-speaking country. Lizzie, good point. Very good point. No, no, I always think Madonna. Madonna goes above English-speaking country. She's everywhere. No, because, like, Mr. Bean is, like, European countries
Starting point is 00:47:30 that don't speak English, but also parts of Asia and Africa where they don't speak English. Is Madonna known there? Madonna's too in Asia. Trust me. Asian people know who Madonna is. Africa? Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:42 Yeah, she's got kids from there. Yeah. She had to go there at least to sign the documents. Some of her favorite kids are from Africa. All right, let's move on tonight knowing 50 cent. Is 50 cent A-lister or B-list? I think going on the text, I think we have to probably put them at a B. There's definitely a mix of A and B for...
Starting point is 00:48:02 Do you know what? I think it's facial recognition for a lot of people. They're like, yeah, we've heard the name, we know the music. But if he's walking past you on the street, the facial recognition is lower than most A listers need to have. Okay, so we're going, B, I mean, A for B. A for Mr. Bean. Madonna? Madonna is an A.
Starting point is 00:48:20 50 cent. Sorry, 50 cent. You commit. I can't do it. It doesn't work. The fact that Med keeps calling him. 50th cent. 30 cents.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Criminal. What's his real name? You mean, no. Curtis, something. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Sounds right. All right.
Starting point is 00:48:43 Michael got it done at 7 o'clock this morning. Although we thought he might have dropped the ball right at the last hurdle. A flower. Lily. A song title. Layla. Yes. Oh, that's back in there.
Starting point is 00:48:59 He was amazing. Masterclass. Yeah. Yeah. If you want to have a crack at Easy Money, then give us call right now. 0-800. We'll play in 90 seconds. Easy Money.
Starting point is 00:49:11 One letter. 10 categories and just 30 seconds. Let's play Easy Money. Can you do what Michael from Tauronga did an hour ago at 7 when he won Easy Money for a thousand bucks? There's another grand on the line. Your letter is R. If you can give us 10 answers, starting with R without repeating any in 30 seconds, another thousand bucks to give away. Hey, Kirsten.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Hi You're a teacher We've had success with teachers in the past No pressure Oh fingers crossed Okay high expectations Good luck Yeah because your kids might be listening as well
Starting point is 00:49:45 I'm going oh that's my teacher And you know No pressure You want to be Good example Are you ready? Okay I'm ready Your letter is our
Starting point is 00:49:55 Give me a colour Red A city A what? A city. Breyard. A body part. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 00:50:13 Ring finger? A vegetable. Radish. Something on your desk? Ring binder. A form of exercise. Oh, Kristen. Oh, no, that was bad.
Starting point is 00:50:33 Yeah, no, it wasn't great. Something, a form of exercise, we had running. Running. Oh, my. Oh, my brother. Yeah. If you don't teach biology, do you out of... interest because for a body part you said a ring finger.
Starting point is 00:50:45 He could have said ribs, right arm, retina. Yeah, yeah. What was the city you had? I misheard it. Yeah, Saudi Arabia. Oh, nice. No, that is good. Wow.
Starting point is 00:50:57 She's a good one out of the sineer there. Oh, well. The pressure was on, though. So much easier when you're not playing. True. And, Kirsten, thank you for not winning another thousand bucks because I think our boss is spinked. I want to puck it up doing $2,000 winners in one day.
Starting point is 00:51:13 Yeah. there's another R-body part rectum. Yes. Thanks for that, Kristen. Something that money can't buy. How are my jingles? I think it can. How much would you charge?
Starting point is 00:51:24 I think you definitely can buy jingles. Put it this way. Talking about my one, people should be, I should be paying them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we just realise there are some celebrities who are endorsing
Starting point is 00:51:34 products and brands just by shouting them out. We thought maybe we could endorse yours by giving you a bit of a free jingle. So we randomly chose a song. and we were given a company to promote. We've had 24 hours to come up with the jingle, and all three of us have done that.
Starting point is 00:51:50 Sort of. Anyway. Yeah. Get your Clint McGand-Dan fix. Clint McGahn, sometimes you come up with ideas on the show and then you think that'll be fun. And then when you get to the bit where you're about to do it,
Starting point is 00:52:02 you go, maybe we shouldn't have done this. A lot of regret for this this morning doing this. But, you know, we've got three people on the line that have businesses that need a bit of promotion. Yep. And we've seen people like Anne, Hathaway doing shoutouts for Kiwi businesses. And we thought maybe we could do that for you with our platform.
Starting point is 00:52:20 And so we were given a random business. Then we were given a random song to come up with a jingle. I got Zanthi. Zanthi, just recap for everybody your business that you told us about yesterday. Yeah, so I have a proposal planning company and I help men propose today. Can I say great idea? Yeah, it is a great. Really gap in the market.
Starting point is 00:52:41 You've done well to do that. Great business. Okay. So I was given the random song of the Friends theme to try and come up with a jingle for you, all right? So are you ready to hear your remember free jingles, Anthony?
Starting point is 00:52:57 And we're all hearing this for the first time together, by the way. Dan and I have not heard this at all. So here we go, Clint. And we're doing them live. We're going to record them when I'm still live. Okay. Here we go, Zanthe. We've recorded them.
Starting point is 00:53:10 Okay. So if you're heterosexual or even if you're gay And you're ready to propose But planning's not your forte You can outsource the work to this lady If you don't know what to do or where to do it Just calls Aunt Fee Because she'll make them say I do
Starting point is 00:53:38 From a helicopter She'll make them say I do Even if you've been married before The Perfect Moment.com Dot and Zet so they don't say no Watch the query spluttered I know I'm so excited That was amazing
Starting point is 00:54:01 You're so welcome You can be honest Sethi if you want Thoughts feeling You'd have to say it was amazing if it wasn't Zanthy No I really loved it It was really cool Do you want to know something
Starting point is 00:54:11 I've gone first because Megan Dan said theirs is worse than mine Much worse Much worse than that that was good. That's got me shaking in my boots. No, honestly, I wish I had boots on to shake it. Okay, who's going next and who's
Starting point is 00:54:26 going last? Shotgun first. I go first. No, shock at Shamed me. I'm going first. I'm going to go last. I'm embarrassed for you guys already. Hi. My God. Okay, we gave you the opportunity to call us yesterday to have your business promoter on the show and we would have 24 hours
Starting point is 00:54:42 to come up with a jingle and we'd be given a random song to put that jingle to. Now I would normally preface this but say no AI was used but I don't think anybody is actually thinking we did. No. Looking at my efforts...
Starting point is 00:54:55 Damn it, I forgot about AI. Yeah, looking at our efforts, I don't feel like anyone's going to accuse us of AI. Okay, so we've got some more businesses on the line. Page, good morning. Morning. Now, sadly, you got me for this. Okay, and could you just recap for everyone
Starting point is 00:55:09 your business in a nutshell page? Yeah, so I'm Illustrated artist and I did the Kiwi calendar. Yeah, so it's a Kiwi calendar. $25 will get you all the months of the year and corresponding with a cartoon Kiwi on each page. And Dan randomly drew Mamba No, as the theme to his jingle for you, Paige.
Starting point is 00:55:31 Are you ready for it? Can I just preface this page before I get into it? I have never been more ashamed of something I've done ever in my life. Really? And my whole career of being on the show, this is, and I'm sorry, Paige, the most pathetic thing I've ever done.
Starting point is 00:55:43 All right, well, let me hear it for the first time, please. Okay, here it is. Stop looking. People are looking at me. All right. Here we go. Okay. You got it, bro. Come on, Dan.
Starting point is 00:55:59 One, two, three, four, five. Planning the week makes me feel alive. I like a calendar with a theme, especially if that theme is a cartoon kiwi. Not sure of the day of the week. Time management is really bleak. Is it Monday, Tuesday? Wednesday or Thursday
Starting point is 00:56:18 35 bucks you will pay for a little bit of Kiwi on the wall each station A little bit of a tune Oh 12 months of colour 12 months of fun Handcapes of Kiwi for everyone That's done really weird
Starting point is 00:56:42 We'll send you the recording You do with it what you like Our beautiful promo manager Emma is standing out there clapping You don't need to clap that It was shocking Okay but don't worry Because we may have saved the best
Starting point is 00:56:56 till last. I really hope so. You guys have not heard mine once. Okay, Joe, just refresh refresh our memories your business and what you do for a crust. After this, I'll probably have to do a new business.
Starting point is 00:57:13 Sorry, let me do it! Yes! Small contracting, fencing and lawns and hedges. That's right, JW contracting. Okay, and Meg, after you chose a random number, ended up drawing Yeah, freestyle.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Here we go. Bon Funk MC as the theme song to J.W's contracting jingle. Okay. Okay. Okay, guys, I need you to just piss off for a second. Just don't, because I'm trying to... Do you want me to turn around and not look here?
Starting point is 00:57:40 You might have two. I'm going to take this very seriously for Joe. Here we go. I wrote... No, no, start again. I wasn't ready. Oh, you come in that fast. That fast.
Starting point is 00:57:48 Here we go. Okay, one, two, and a two. And a one, two. G. G. on the phone. Joe, Joe. Mate, go and get your lawn mow. Go, go dial up.
Starting point is 00:58:08 For your grass dirt and stone. Call up Joe, he's the land stiler. Moes lawns and more lawn. You know you can rely on. What your patio is strong is a bus because he's friendly and sewn on. But that's not also, hold on. He moves wrong this race for your garden. Work with charities. Has no felonies. Well, I think so. Lawn session. Spruce up and o'-freshion. gesture, show him your section or your small bit of lawn what you dwell upon, mate, just go on, do it, call up Joe.
Starting point is 00:58:39 J. W. Call him on the phone. He does rock, rock, rock, rock, rock, and lawns moan. Jay, don't call him on the phone. Oh my God. Jesus. Did you need the backing track? You just lost your way.
Starting point is 00:58:58 You wanted to do them live. That was a mistake. Someone's six or I think they've summed it up quite well. Well, Meg, that was dire. All right. So that's what you guys want. You guys want us to throw Chad Chimmy T in the bin? Well, that's what you get.
Starting point is 00:59:17 Okay. Joe's laughing. I hope you like that, Joe. Sorry, my dog chook off out the window. I don't blame it. Go get your dog, Joe. You do what you've got to do, buddy. JW contracting, if you're in Dono's, trust me,
Starting point is 00:59:31 the handiwork is much better than their jingle. Right. Well, let's just safe to say we won't be doing that again. Yeah, no, I think that's a one in that voice. Okay. Right. Let's tidy this up with the Westpac Studio Tap. Do you want to win some epic prizes this week?
Starting point is 00:59:45 You've got to listen out for the cuticle. And if anyone is still listening, this is it. Also, Meg, you didn't have to do the whole song. You didn't know that, eh? Get your Clint McGreg and Dan Fix. The Edge. The Westpac Studio Tap. Right, 0800.
Starting point is 01:00:01 We're going to listen out for your Q to call. We're going to be doing this for a wee while, and there are some epic prizes. 2B1 with our giant Westpack card that we've got in studio, and Dan will tap it. He'll do the heavy lifting, literally, and you win. Yeah. It's not that heavy, Clint actually. It's quite light.
Starting point is 01:00:17 It's quite light. It's quite light, car. It's very, it looks heavy, but it's not. Right. Okay, well, we have a person that is playing this morning. Hi, Matt. Oh, Kilda. Basically, you should be very excited because they just feel like the prizes are also EPO.
Starting point is 01:00:32 Congrats. You're already a winner. Oh, I'm so excited. Oh, yay. Thank you very much. Okay. Well, Dan's been given the big giant card. Dan, you ready to tap, my darling?
Starting point is 01:00:41 That's a beautiful card. I don't have been put in a wallet. But, hey, I'm going to tap it on the tap and go. Here we go. Oh, wait, no, over to the left. Left, left. Left. That's right.
Starting point is 01:00:49 Left. Sorry. And there. Yeah. Festival Fit. $750 West Pack prepaid MasterCard for a full festival outfit. Shoes and accessories plus spending money. Yay!
Starting point is 01:01:02 Yay! How good! That's your excuse to go spending on yourself. Wow. Nice. Have you got any? gigs coming up to get all dressed up for them? You know what?
Starting point is 01:01:13 I actually don't have a gig, but might have to get a fit for my brother's golf tournament. Oh, yeah, there you go. I think that works. It's a festival. Or get yourself a West Bank debit or credit card because their customers get access to their favourite shows before anyone else
Starting point is 01:01:28 with Mascard pre-sell and preferred tickets. Amazing. Yay, thank you so much appreciated. You're welcome, babe. And I do believe their actual cards are smaller than this one, hey? It is smaller. Yeah, yeah. Those ones aren't that big.
Starting point is 01:01:42 It's kind of tricky being a fan in New Zealand because we get the end of the tour all the time here. So a lot of the time, because we're at the end of celebrities' tours, we're the last spot and stop. The tickets get snapped up so quickly. Well, yeah, it feels like tickets lately, when they go and sell, they're like sold out in 12 minutes. Sold out in 20 minutes.
Starting point is 01:02:03 So you want to be a part of those pre-sales to get a Westpac debit or credit card to get access to MasterCard pre-sale. and snatch those tickets up before anybody else. That's a little hack actually if you hadn't known about that. But yeah, they do pre-sales. Access Mastercard pre-sale and preferred tickets to gigs with a Westpac debit or credit card. Eligibility, criteria, exclusions and terms apply. Find out more at westpac.com.nZ slash bankstuff.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Co-dot next talking about a fairly famous Hollywood movie star that's done something crazy for their ex. Yeah, I think this is probably the biggest favour you could ask of your ex ever. I think, no, maybe you ask them to be a surrogate. Yeah. That could be number one. I think this is second place to that. Second, yeah. And you know what?
Starting point is 01:02:45 If my ex asked me to do this, it would be a flat no. Really? And I think 90% of people would be the same. Yeah. It'd be a bit odd. Okay. Place your bets. What do you think it might be?
Starting point is 01:02:56 Go to the next. The Edge is the home of Clint McGend Dan. We would love to hear from you if you've ever had an ex request. Whether you agreed to do it or not irrelevant, but your ex, ask something of you. you were like, that's weird. We're talking about this after Toby McGuire, who was the original Spider-Man. He officiated his ex-wife, Jennifer's wedding over the weekend. She got married to a music executive.
Starting point is 01:03:21 His name's dress, Jeff, I believe, he's a billionaire. And they've both got kids together, Toby and Jennifer. And I think it was only 19 days after they were declared legally single from each other. So she was like, as soon as they were legally divorced, she was like, can't ask him the next day. I'll leave him. at a couple of weeks. Leave it a couple of weeks. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:41 So I think I mean, you do sit there and you go, wow, that's amazing, isn't it? Especially for the kids, the young kids, to see mum and dad get along so well and not take on any of that guilt or anxiety that they would get that maybe mum's moved on with a different guy and how is that going to affect. How is that going to affect? To see dad up there supporting the love, I think would be incredibly great for the kids, but it's still a huge aspect. Very big of Toby Maguire, I thought, to put your past aside and your ego, because I don't. Imagine if he's an actor, he's got a bit of an ego. And he's up there marrying his ex-wife to this billionaire. He's a better guy, you know?
Starting point is 01:04:15 Oh, he isn't. Isn't he? What do you mean he's a better guy? Because he's a billionaire. Oh, he's harder. And he looks a bit harder. He's richer. Like, what's Toby McGuire done recently?
Starting point is 01:04:24 He's probably... Yeah, if you're going... I know the name, but you can't put a face to him. Fly! Up, up and away, web! Go! Go! Go!
Starting point is 01:04:33 The original Spider-Man. He's definitely a lot smaller than her new husband. New husband's like... Yeah, he's big. But the quotes of come out and say that the two of them stayed extremely close after separating. And Jennifer called Toby her best friend. She also said before the wedding, the cutest part is Toby and my fiancé. Jeff, love each other so much.
Starting point is 01:04:53 That's weird. No, it's not. It's nice. It makes sense that they would get along because they've got the same taste in women. Yeah. I mean, it's good. You know, and they've got a common interest in how much they both love her. I just think it's, yeah, just so wonderful.
Starting point is 01:05:08 to say it can be happy. Put it this way. I don't think you'd see it happen if there wasn't kids in this situation. Like, they have to sort of get on. And good that they do get on because of the kids, and I think it's great that they have made this happen. Well, the kids are 19 and 17.
Starting point is 01:05:21 She says she would do anything for him. And I'm like, wonder if he remarries and his wife can't have kids and he wanted more if he was like, would you be the surrogate? I'd be asking. I'd be doing, returning the favour. I'd be asking just to see if she'd say yes. You'd start with, you know how I officiated your wedding?
Starting point is 01:05:37 And she goes, yeah, and I go, have I got a deal for you? X requests, what did your ex ask you to do? Whether you were like, of course, or you were like, hell no. Like, do you even know me? Mine was take her credit card off my Uber account. Oh, after you split. It's terrible.
Starting point is 01:05:55 Because I still had it on for like months after it. I think I got asked to stop talking about mine on the radio a couple of times. That's right. And you hear you are. And you here am again. It was a prick, wasn't it? No, he wasn't. We would love to know what was the X request.
Starting point is 01:06:07 after Toby McGuire's ex asked if he would officiate her wedding with her new partner, and Toby the original Spider-Man said, yeah, sure. You're so lovely, isn't it? No worries, babe. It is lovely. On face value, it's a lovely act. But it's just, I would find it awkward. I think most X requests, now we might get some that are also really nice,
Starting point is 01:06:25 but there will be a lot that it's like the audacity of them to ask me. Yes. So let's go to some phones. I just want to check Carl when it says anonymous. Do I need to do voice disguiser? He's talking to them now. I'm going to say, I'm going to voice disguiser, yes or no? Wonderful.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Thank you very much. Just want to make sure that this is Jade talking. Hi, Jade. Hi, guys. How are we? Yeah, good, Jade. Now, what did your ex ask you for? Well, after I caught this man with the audacity to chewed on me with his flatmate,
Starting point is 01:07:00 he asked to still stay on my Netflix so he could Netflix and chill. Did he specifically, was this asked face-to-face or in a message saying, hey, can you not get me off your Netflix account? Yeah, this isn't a message. And then I was like, absolutely not. Yeah, see you later. In fact, thank you for reminding me that you're still on it with access. What sort of psychopath, Jade, even has considered asking that after cheating?
Starting point is 01:07:26 Like, it's just shocking. Mind-blowing. It's crazy. It is unbelievably, like, narcissistically. Oh, what a prick. Sorry. Okay, no, that's fine. Disgusting. Laura, morning, what did your ex request?
Starting point is 01:07:41 I actually requested him to house at my house and watch my pets for 10 days while I go overseas. Okay. Were they your pets and his pets together at one point? Two of them were. Oh, yeah. But my pigeon and my two frogs weren't. Did he break up with you because you're a crazy animal person? No.
Starting point is 01:08:00 And Laura, you're the person that sometimes when you talk to us on the phone, there's a pigeon that's like cooing in the background. Yeah, it flies on me when I come out of the door. I love you. Yeah, I was hoping we didn't have too. I kind of get that, though, because he would have had a relationship with the animals. And so you trust him, he's a nice guy. Obviously, he wasn't for you romantically.
Starting point is 01:08:20 But, yeah. Well, Erin's one is even stranger. I mean, strange because it probably doesn't happen very often, but cool that you guys are still that close, I suppose, Laura. What was the request that you're out of your ex? Oh, sorry, Erin. So we, I requested that when we were both dating and we were on dating apps that we should write a reference for each other. That's fun.
Starting point is 01:08:46 Now you must have ended on an amicable situation. There was no cheating or anything. Yeah, so we're amicable. We just, yeah, didn't work out, but we've got a child. So we decided that, yeah. I love that. I actually think that's really mature and called that you did that. And you've also talked about a first.
Starting point is 01:09:04 officiating his wedding? Yeah, so we actually had a divorce party, and we had it at the same place that we got married. And then later we were like, hey, he's got a new partner now. And she was like, oh, my God, you should officiate our wedding one day and walk him down the aisle. So we've had, like, jokes about that. She sounds like a great person to not have any weird jealousy as well with that. So how, can you give us a nutshell of why you guys did end up breaking up? up if you're still able to be such good friends and joke like this?
Starting point is 01:09:37 True. We were together really young, so from like 17, 18, and we grew up together and then just realized that we just weren't really a very good match and that we wanted to show our son a really healthy relationship and not an unhealthy one. So, yeah, we didn't want to be fighting in. Standing ovation in the studio for you. Well done.
Starting point is 01:09:59 That is so cool, and that's how it should be. Yeah, hey, we'll send you a double pass to our must-see movie. and the Sun directed by Tyke at YTT. Thanks for being honest and cheering with us this morning, you. Awesome, thank you. It's going to be in cinema's October 22nd. Got Jenna Ortega and it looks bloody good if you haven't seen the trailer. It's amazing, eh?
Starting point is 01:10:17 Isn't that amazing? Kaylee said I photographed my ex's wedding. And with a photographer, shooting all the beautiful photos of him and his new. You'd have to just have no jealousy whatsoever. You know, you almost have to have moved on yourself. And then there's the text, like, he asked if he could borrow money to take his new girlfriend of two. weeks to Fiji. Scum.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Absolute scum. No, mate. Who are these people? Who are these people? But the thing is, you don't ask unless you think there's a slight chance. Don't ask, don't get. They might say yes. But why would you do it?
Starting point is 01:10:51 Yeah. All right. 17 to 9 if you're one of Dan's exes, don't bother texting him by themselves. There's only one. I don't think she listens. Just as well. Yeah. Want to hear more of Clint, Meg and Dan, but completely unfiltered? Catch the Overthinkers audio and video. pod every single day on the Rover app
