Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a podcast from Rover. Take the edge off your mornings with Clint Meg and Dan. Edge Breakfast. Well, one bar six on your Wednesday. Thank you for joining us nice and early. Even if you've accidentally stumbled across us and you're like, what am I doing here? How dare you never listen to us before? There's somebody out there right this thing that's listened to the first time they've ever heard of this.
Starting point is 00:00:21 Someone else might have been in their car before they parked it and they've jumped in and gone, what was this is? Yeah, maybe they're on a rental car. And now the last person that had that rental car was listening to us. Yeah. Good on them. When you hire a rental car, do you always go? and change all the presets to the Edge? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Neither. Neither. Yeah, I usually just, you know what? I usually just listen to the first station that's on, just to sort of go, oh, this is what other people are listening to. By the way, if you are new, I'm Clint. Hey? I am Meg.
Starting point is 00:00:48 And I'm Jeff. Yeah. And, uh, my name and Jeff. Clint Meg and Jeff. The Edge is the home of Clint McGinn, Dan. The Edge. Oh, time of little coffee catch up. That was your 6-name throwback from 2007, by the way.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Mika and Grace Kelly. What a song. I'm going to tell you. you're going to go, well, obviously, but life gets busy and when you've got kids sometimes it's, and I get caught up on what's happening right now, and you forget about what's happening maybe next month or in three months' time.
Starting point is 00:01:14 And my daughter was just talking to me, and she started talking about the song that I've selected for her graduation. And I was like, oh, yeah. It's her last day at primary. Her last year. It was her last year. And she's on.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Invenia. Yeah, I remember my song. Do you guys remember your song that you guys did? No, not from primary. Yeah, vitamin C graduation. It came out that year for us. Oh, as we go. That was mine.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I mean, it is a song about graduation. I know. We were the age, right? It was perfect for us. It's such a gift that that's what we had. And that was my, yeah, it was incredible. What a great song. Can we play that?
Starting point is 00:01:50 Tim, why is that? I love that song. What's it cool? It's called vitamin C graduation. And it came out when me and Dan would have been finishing in primary school. And it was about exactly. Oh, God. It's got a bit.
Starting point is 00:02:01 It wasn't that. I feel like it was more, like, intermediate I got it. I don't think it was out when we're at primary. Yeah, well, yeah, what's it out? Let me find out. It's not that old. Yeah, yeah, so I want to. Yeah, you guys didn't graduate at the same year, so you must have just been...
Starting point is 00:02:17 Oh, but it was like a big one for like... Yeah, 2000. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Yeah, it was a big song in and around that area, and I think every school would have used it at some point. Oh, well, my kids have just discovered one republic, but this is their, like, graduation. I did it all.
Starting point is 00:02:31 And I'm like, wow, it's so, it's so emotional but also funny because you're like, you haven't done it all. You're only 11. But to them, they have. Yeah, there's a lot to come. But I was like, oh my God, my daughter's got like, because they, kids finish real early, you know, at the end of the year. Two and four is pretty short. I'm like, she's got like, I don't know, eight weeks or ten weeks or whatever left of primary school. That's it.
Starting point is 00:02:54 It's done with primary school forever. That's wild that my kids basically starting the same time that yours is ending. Yeah. So if I think back to the times that I graduated, like, primary school and then you graduate intermediate as well, it's a funny thing, isn't it? Because you're not really graduating anything. You're just moving on to the next phase of schooling. You know what the worst time is, time is starting a new year at a new school? I always remember being, like, physically nervous.
Starting point is 00:03:21 I just, I mean, I've told you guys the story before, but I just sat in the sick bay, like, every morning tea, every lunchtime for, like, two months. Yeah. I said no friends. and I didn't know anyone and I just sat there and the lady at reception and the sick bay lady just knew me by name Hey Clint, take a seat So many friends now because you like didn't have any
Starting point is 00:03:39 You know when he was younger he didn't have any I'm just paranoid they're all going to go So I'm just getting them all mass His friend like team has got massive depth Like such a deep feel Maybe maybe You know the psyche of it you're like I'm never doing that again And I remember my mum saying to me when I was in school
Starting point is 00:03:55 And I used to hate school She would turn around and say to me school are the best years of your life. And I used to think, if that's true, I'm gonna hate being an adult. People need to stop saying that. Because that's shit, like, if you end school, you're like, well, there's the best use of my life, don't.
Starting point is 00:04:10 But I guess it's the fact that you just don't have a lot of... Responsibility. Yeah, there's a lot of drama as well. But there is, you had to do exams. It means what year, I guess. You know, primary school, I think was fun. I think that was fun. Yeah, going on sports trips and camps and just working out,
Starting point is 00:04:25 who you're going to hook up with this weekend? Oh, that's your primary. Primary or high school again? We're talking about high school. Yeah, probably intermediate high school. We're going to hook up with. Clint! What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:04:36 How am I going to get a box? I'm under 18 and who am I going to hook up with? Also, who are you hooking up with? You're hanging out in the sick pay all day. Sorry, sorry. You're talking about receptionist, Mrs May. That wasn't intermediate. By high school I'd worked it out.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Oh, right. Yeah, yeah. Get your Clint McGinn, Dan Fix. Did any of you have your fellow listener reach out after we advertise their business with random jingles. yesterday? I have not received a message from Joe. No, right. Zanthe, I didn't get her going,
Starting point is 00:05:04 hey, where can I download the MP3 of the jingle that you made for my business for free? And the lady that I did know as well. No, she didn't reach her. Oh, okay. You don't remember her name? No. I think it was... Melissa. Okay, can we get a check on that? Because I reckon it's almost the opposite.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Okay. Yeah, so we did... Denise. No. Maybe we'll bring this back. Maybe we won't. we thought it would be a nice thing to do to help advertise your small business maybe we'll bring this back no we won't it was page was it okay did you get it in your ear
Starting point is 00:05:38 Carl told me yeah thanks for that Paige and Melissa same same this was a one in Dunkland it was a complete fail on all accounts oh I wouldn't say a fail on your account I think that that was a money can't buy experience from Meg there from yeah well we just thought we would
Starting point is 00:05:55 write a jingle for a small business and we were given a theme song and then we had to try and whip something up. I had to, it was called The Perfect Moment and Zanthi actually helps people propose and it's kind of like wedding planning but proposal planning. So before the wedding and I got the Friends theme song. She'll make them say I do from a helicopter. She'll make them say I do. Yeah, I'll be honest.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Even if you've been married before the perfect moment.com. No, hearing it back. Dot and Zid so they don't say no. Okay, well, before he's out poo-pooing mine, bro, Dan was even worse. Dan had to advertise Kiwi calendars to the tune of Mumbo number five. Is it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, 35 bucks you will pay for a little bit of Kiwi on the wall each station,
Starting point is 00:06:44 a little bit of a tune off. 12 months of colour, 12 months of fun. Pancakes of Kiwi for everyone. That's the least gusto you've ever given. Because I was so, I just. This was so off it. And I feel sorry for Melissa or whatever name was, Paige. Because I just, I really didn't do it justice.
Starting point is 00:07:06 She probably prefer if you just keep calling Melissa so she's not associated at all with what happened. Meg, oh, you really did sell it. She brought it home because we were like, this bit's dead in the water. And then Meg ended up advertising, a denetting contracting business that are doing lawns and bits and pieces. JW contracting. And Meg got the tune, Bon Funk NCs, freestined. Joe mows lawns and more lawn. You know you can rely on.
Starting point is 00:07:30 More your patio, strong is a bus because he's friendly and sewn on. But that's not also, hold on. He moves wrong this race for your garden. Work with charities. Has no felonies. Well, I think so. Lawn session. Spruce up and offresh in.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Suggestion. Show him your section or your small bit of lawn. What you dwell upon. Mate, just go on. Do it. Call up Joe. J.W. Call him on the phone.
Starting point is 00:07:53 He does rock, rock, rock, rock. And lawn's moan. How does he mow the rocks? Well, they moves rocks. He moves rocks. He moves rocks. He moves rocks. He moves rocks.
Starting point is 00:08:04 I think that was quite low down on the stuff he does, but you made it sound like it was his main thing. Rock, rock, rock, rock and rock and rock and rock and rock and lawns is on. Like Monday at Thursday, he's just breaking and move it and rocks. And then he mows a few lawns on a Friday. We'd go. All right. Let's see what's happened overnight. Coming up in scandal headlines.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Chloe Kardashian said she felt creeped out by who. And who has Olivia Rodriguez got on her next song? In Scandal this morning, Chloe Kardashian has said that she was creeped out by a teacher whose TikTok, she commented on. He uploaded a video saying, waiting for my wife to ask how my day is, and she commented. I just wrote, how was your day? This thing took off like wildfire. I'm going to show you.
Starting point is 00:08:52 If anything, I just want to say thank you for everything. I know it was just a comment. Love to hear how your day was. Just shooting when I shot once again I would love to meet you and talk about how your day was. Just be cool. And his name is Jacob. Jacob, please.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Get a J. I think, yeah, it's so weirdly mean. I mean, he's just a little teacher and she's got and said on her public broadcast millions that she was creeped out by. I mean, it's like, who wouldn't comment back if Chloe Codney slipped into your DM? It seems like it's punching down a little bit, eh?
Starting point is 00:09:22 Yeah, yeah. I think you have to be careful once you're rocking more than a million followers. Yeah. is this duty. You started it, Chloe. You commented on his thing, sliding into his DMs, and then he replied, and suddenly you're like, ooh, creepy. I don't get that. Yeah, of course. Anyone's going to be excited that a Kardashian has commented on their thing. Of course. And Olivia Rodriguez has announced this song with Chapel Road. It's out on Thursday, and it's going to be called Expectation. So that's exciting to
Starting point is 00:09:45 powerhouse women together with the new track. Haven't heard from Chapman, a wee while, actually. Yeah. Yeah, I think she's laid love for a while. Trust it for 25 years, makes slaughtered your first move for many decisions. Just Hats in Auckland The Edge Clint, Meg and Dan Let's settle this is next Dan typically has the
Starting point is 00:10:03 discussion or the thing that needs to be settled And I'm starting to wonder Meg How many of these are just disagreements between him and his wife In the Webby household I'm so surprised our marriage is still going It's Clint Meg and Dan's Let's settle this
Starting point is 00:10:16 Let's settle this right now No wonder he didn't win Yeah I hope it wasn't the voice Was it the voice? Yeah, it was the voice Oh so they didn't know until they turned around The first episode, can we check that?
Starting point is 00:10:26 Were they like, wow, her voice is amazing? No, I think... First time I heard that voice, I assumed it was a guy. Really? To be honest, I did as well. Yeah. Like, I don't know why you thought it was a girl. A bit of a Miley Cyrus way.
Starting point is 00:10:39 What are you talking? I don't think he has a same song. At all. At the end. Okay, now... I actually feel a bit bad with Cody Simpson. He wrote a song called Baby Blue that we really like on this show. And I think it's really, really similar.
Starting point is 00:10:49 And we never played it. But this is Jamie Miller's kind of big breakthrough here. Let me just play the end. and then you tell me whether or not that sounds like Miley Cyrus. That's going to be going to be you. That's Miley Cyrus. That sounds like a bad. That is om- okay.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I went under the edge. No, I don't want to do. I'm not going up to that. I'm going to settle this. No, absolutely. That is Miley Cyrus. You're the only one. If I play that, then, the you.
Starting point is 00:11:31 The you. The you. The you. The you. Sort of. It's kind of. It's only saying you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Okay, sorry, Dan, you want to settle something else? We'll settle that another day. I think this is more of a contentious one. When you're keeping food in the fridge for leftovers, say you cook something for dinner, you put it in the fridge for another day. What is the maximum length you're leaving it before you eat it? 48 hours, two days for me, and then it's in the bid.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Every time. Typically, we'll put all leftovers in Tupperware containers, then we'll leave them for two weeks so that we can then empty them into the rubbish and then wash the container. Interesting, because last night I was emptying out our fridge and I was doing a bit of a thing because we have lots of leftovers in there.
Starting point is 00:12:09 We had a creamy pesto chicken pasta on Friday night. Friday night just be. That's a long time. And I was about to tip it down the waste disposal thing last night. Because it's Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Down the gurgler. And Hannah goes, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I'll take that tomorrow for lunch. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Has it on Wednesday. And I said, five days.
Starting point is 00:12:33 That's exactly similar to what I said. I said, Hannah, it has been. nearly a week since we had this. And she's like, no, it's fine. I'll just nuke it in the microwave. I went and got Chinese, and I had left over combination fried rice and sweet and sour pork.
Starting point is 00:12:46 And I was like, oh, I'm going to look forward to that. And it was in there three days. And my wife was like, Binnitz, rice. It's one of the worst things to make you sick. Completely correct. It was pasta with cream, which I made with cream and chicken. Chicken. And pesto.
Starting point is 00:12:59 So the thing is, you know how you've prepped that. My wife's argument was with the takeaway store, you don't know how long, how old it was before it actually got made. But chicken, I don't think last five days after making cook. Well, we've got Marilyn on the line. Marilyn, you work in the food industry, don't you? You there, Madeline? Marilyn, hey, so working in the food industry,
Starting point is 00:13:20 what is your official suggestion of how long to keep food? Not really official, but chicken or fish need to eat it the next day. Yeah. You can't leave it in the fridge for too long. Five days? If anything, beef or lamb, is all right for three days. Okay. You know, if you want to have lamb families
Starting point is 00:13:41 and you've cooked a lamb on the bone or something, you know, three days. Why is it at Christmas that people who eat meat can eat ham for like four weeks? He put a wheat bag on it and all of a sudden it last until January. What is up with you guys? That's so weird. It's the way they protest it.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Oh, okay, so they've actually got lots of stuff on it. They're allowed to punch a certain amount of water into the ham. Oh, me. It's just been like 11% Like the sound of that Okay so what is there any defence to my wife's defence And she just says I'll just nuke it in the microwave like so to it
Starting point is 00:14:17 No No Okay And one final question Marilyn Does this dude sound like Miley Cyrus Oh dear No comment No comment
Starting point is 00:14:30 She's a food expert not a singing expert We need a vocal expert on All right You win almost a million dollars on First Division. What do you think your partner's reaction to the news would be? Because James's reaction to when he won was maybe different to most, his story next. Somebody who's feeling a little somber at the moment. Although crazy, you think wouldn't, because only, well, less than two weeks ago now,
Starting point is 00:14:58 is James, who won First Division. $850,000, as it turns out. Didn't get the Powerball, so it didn't fall into the millions, but, mate, nothing to sniff at. That's life-changing, eh? When you get to, though, like, nearly a million bucks, like, I mean, 50,000's life-changing, but that's proper, like, you could almost retire. Big crazy money. When we were chatting with him after the show initially finding out about it, he had out
Starting point is 00:15:21 all these plans to, like, surprise his boy, who he's now surprised so I can talk about it, for his 18th birthday and bought him a car, and he was also wanting to surprise his partner with something really exciting, like, really, with a holiday in that. But obviously, it takes a little bit of time with money get in. I think you should spend a little bit of time just thinking about it, rather than spending it as soon as it hits the account. Yeah, but yeah, did he hold the purse strings a bit too tight? Well, maybe, Meg, because we got him on for a bit of an update
Starting point is 00:15:48 and spoke to him on our podcast yesterday. And you'll never believe how things have changed for James since winning almost a million dollars in lotto two weeks ago. They say people change with money. My partner, oh my gosh, I never saw this coming. Went out to my son's birthday, had an amazing time, all the rest of it. Everything seemed to be as normal as possible. She went home.
Starting point is 00:16:09 She had some clients coming. She had her own little business. And I got home. Wake up in the morning with all these different text messages. And the last text message said, because I'm not drowning her in money, I'm not good enough to be with. So she left me.
Starting point is 00:16:26 She's s' off, Jake. She has not left you. 100%. I'll send you the text message. How long have you been together? Six years. Six years together. So, because I remember you said that you were actually going to surprise her for a trip back home, right?
Starting point is 00:16:41 Yeah, so I've got 80% of my money back on the tickets in the hotel. So you had already booked it. Did she know about it? No, she didn't. Oh, my goodness. So actually there was a big surprise coming that you were showering her in gifts. Sorry, I might have missed it, James, but what was the reason she left? What was the reason she gave you?
Starting point is 00:16:59 Because he wasn't showering her with gifts. And spending all of his money on that. Is that the only reason, though? Pretty much. pretty much. So she thought you could finally afford to give her a lifestyle that she wanted, and now that you can't afford it, you're still not giving it to her. I know.
Starting point is 00:17:16 But end of the day, someone's true colors come out when money's involved. Yeah, I'd be pleased, if anything. I'd love to know what my wife's price is to leave me. Do you know what I mean? Like, if everyone, if you're like, hey, I love my partner. And they go, do you love him more than $5 million? In the end, it's so bizarre because unless she thought that she was going to be getting half the money, It's so bizarre to be angry after three weeks, especially when Jembs are already planned a trip.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Where is she from? Is she gone back home? Or you don't know. I don't know. I have no idea. I presume she's gone back to Thailand. Wow. The timing, eh?
Starting point is 00:17:49 We'd love to talk about the worst time breakups. You're with someone six years. They win first division and then you're like, nah. And then you break up with them because they haven't spent all their money on you. Yeah. There must have been more to the story. Or maybe I'm missing something. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I just feel like just going home just because there was no gifts. Somebody picked up saying, I'd love to know what the other part of, yeah, pretty much was. Yeah, that's pretty much why. Pretty much why. Yeah, I agree, Laura.
Starting point is 00:18:16 I think there must have been, maybe it was the stick that broke the camel's back type scenario. But you would think the opposite, you would think that if you were struggling and your partner won a million dollars almost, you'd stick it out a little longer to see if maybe money took the pressure
Starting point is 00:18:31 off the relationship, because they reckon the number one, thing people fight about is finances. So you'd go, well, let's just see if life improves now that we've got a little bit of extra spending money. But to be with someone six years and then bail two weeks after the winning first dinner, it's strange. It feels like there's something else there that maybe we're missing.
Starting point is 00:18:47 But then also, in James' defence, maybe, you know, some people show their true colours when money's involved, you know? But most people don't leave when they get money. True. They hang around. They hang around for a long. There's never a good time, I don't think, for a breakup, especially if the person doesn't know what's coming.
Starting point is 00:19:01 But there are definitely times where it's much worse to do it. Like, because I know there's that day, Megan, the lead up to Christmas where it's like the cutoff. It's like International Breakup Day because anything past that day is too mean to do between then and Christmas and meeting up with family. Yes, the 12th. 12th. 12th. December. Maybe they're like, Granddad died and you broke up with him that day, you know?
Starting point is 00:19:23 You were like, look, you're already having a bad day. This probably will make it worse, but better to do it all in one day rather than space it out. What is that? Okay. I went under the year. if it's happened to you or you've done to someone else. What's the worst time breakup that you've been a part of or no of? On their birthday, probably.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Yeah. Right now, though, we want to talk the worst time breakups after James said to us that his partner of six years broke up with him and has left him two weeks after he won $850,000 playing lotto. Absolutely wild. That's a crazy sentence. That's a crazy sentence. That's the anything excuse to stay with him, right? Now, I don't think we can get her on the phone, but there are a lot of questions with this text.
Starting point is 00:20:00 I broke up over a tampon. That is strange Like over it Like that was on the floor Or over Like did they say Hey give me a tampon And they go no
Starting point is 00:20:11 You know what That did piss me on You've got your You've got your period You've got them I've got a period Oh yeah Okay
Starting point is 00:20:19 Hannah we need more of an explanation What happened there Are you talking to me? Yes Anna We need to know What happened Unless you've given us a fake name Because you're so embarrassed
Starting point is 00:20:29 Why did you break up Over a tampon So I was living at his house with his sister and his parents And I This is when I used to get really really really terrible periods And I was ill prepared But I couldn't leave the house because I was in such pain Yeah of course
Starting point is 00:20:49 I went up to the communal bathroom Let's just make sure that's not known And I borrowed a tamp Well I didn't borrow it because I wasn't going to give it back That's not our tampons work. So your sister or his mum's tampon. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And then later they found the rubbish in the bin, and then they accused me of stealing. Sanity! What are you talking about? Really? Did they? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, no joke. No joke.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Like, it keeps me a ceiling. So then I went to work that night. I was looking at Mac. It's so embarrassing. And then I was just, like, bawling, because my partner at the time was. just abusing me over text. And so then I called my mum that night, and she came and packed me up, and I moved out that night.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Wow. That's like someone getting angry over, like, toilet paper, essentially. Yeah, that's the same thing. It's like a necessity. Yeah. What are they talking about? We've got $100, thanks to NTF finance. We'll give you some cash.
Starting point is 00:21:50 You go buy your own tampons, Hannah. Yeah, never have it again. Thank you. And you have the cutest little laugh. You have the best laugh. Yeah. Thanks. If there's a tampon company listening,
Starting point is 00:22:02 Let's get Hannah a lifetime supply. Yeah, let's get her some time. How would that be? It's unfortunately rather expensive, pick tax and stuff. So make tampons free. Well, Hannah, enjoy that. 100 bucks is yours, babe.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Thanks for chatting with us. That's shocking to me. Worst time breakups? Maddie. Morning, Maddie. Morning, money. Why was the breakup badly timed for you? My ex-boyfriend actually went on an exchange trip,
Starting point is 00:22:31 and broke up with me than secondary he was there. Better offer. How long was the trip supposed to be? Six months. So you're sitting there and you're committed. You're like, I'm ready to support you long distance. It's only six months. Did he say why he broke up with you there?
Starting point is 00:22:49 Did he meet his sister host? No, he said that I cried too much because I missed him. And he couldn't bear a bit. Oh, me. That's not yuck. You just missed him. No. No, well, Maddie, it sounds like you're better off, really, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:23:04 It didn't waste six months of your time. At least he didn't do it when you came back the day after. You waited half a year from then he'd do it. Yeah, that's true. I guess you glass half full there, Maddie. All right. And Rach, worst time breakups? What was the poor timing in your situation?
Starting point is 00:23:21 Is that me? Yeah, hey, Rach. Hi. So, it was Valentine's Day. That'll do it. And to top it off, we also had a number. month old baby. Much worse.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Much worse than the whole Valentine's Day. So it's your first Valentine's Day with a baby? Oh, I mean, this was many years ago. Yeah, my daughter is now 17. Yeah, yeah. But, yeah. It was pretty horrible. Why wait till that day?
Starting point is 00:23:54 Why do we wait till that day, not the day after the day before? It's so weird. Oh, I don't know. You tell me. Yeah. You'd do it the day before, wouldn't you? You'd do it the day before. You wouldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:24:04 You wouldn't do Valentine's Day and Cheru and then the next day do it. Well, Rachel, I'll give you a double pass to a movie I think you and your daughter might enjoy together. It's written by Tyke of YTT. It's in cinemas October 22nd with Jenna Ortega, Clara and the Sun. Oh, awesome. Thank you so much. You're welcome. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:24:22 All right. And the winning continues next with easy money. If you want to crack it winning a thousand bucks, we gave it away yesterday. It was super easy. In fact, yeah, it was really easy. We could do it again today. Yeah, all right. 30 seconds on the clock.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Give us 10 answers this morning. Starting with the letter, Al. I was going to say Al, but then I've got T. Oh, says L on my sheet. Okay, we're going to go with Al. All right. Mine says F.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Easy money. Time for your favorite game. Easy money. Two bar seven. Sorry, a bit of confusion. The letter was chosen yesterday on the day show with Lucy. What letter are you picking for Clint McGendanty and News tomorrow morning? at 7 a.m.
Starting point is 00:25:03 I'll go with the letter T. All right, L was the letter yesterday that ended up winning a listener $1,000. So if you can give us 10 minutes, starting with T in 30 seconds without repeating any answers, $1,000,000, yours as well. And playing this morning, Cassie, good morning. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Okay. Feeling lucky? Yeah, absolutely. The letter T for time to win some cash. Let's see if lightning strikes twice. Meg got the list? Yeah, I have the list. All right, time starts.
Starting point is 00:25:32 the end of Meg asking you your first question, Cassie, good luck. Thank you. Give me something you find in a bathroom. A truck. A car brand. A Toyota. A country. Um, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, oh shit.
Starting point is 00:25:52 You can pass. Pass. Something round. It's matter. A film. Uh, today. A fast food. Taka Bell
Starting point is 00:26:05 A five-liter word Um Pose Time Cassie Time We had Thailand Thailand and Tonga in Taiwan
Starting point is 00:26:15 For For your tea Have you ever been to any of them Cassie Been to Thailand Been to Tonga? No No That might be why
Starting point is 00:26:23 I didn't come to mind And you said today The film called today I was just having a look Oh okay Mate She didn't get to 10 No
Starting point is 00:26:30 No We don't need to kick her while she's down And there's no movie I can find... Or Toz also isn't a five-letter word, but... Okay, go. Let's be honest, Cassie, but of a shocker. Unless you said toast. Yeah, it's hard, though.
Starting point is 00:26:44 When you're on the spot, in front of the nation, what happens, isn't it? It's always easier in the car. And if you are nailing it in the car every time, call us at 8 o'clock. We'll give you another chance to win a thousand bucks. I think we've got a list coming up NICS from Euclinda Deal Breaker for 1 in 5 Kiwi guys. Yeah, one in five guys.
Starting point is 00:27:00 So 20% of Kiwi dudes find this as one of the biggest turnoffs in women. Listen live weekdays from sex on Rover and catch up wherever. This is Clint, Meg and Dan. The Edge. She's going to be joining us in studio. She owns a matchmaking website, which is different to the dating apps. And maybe I'll bring it up with her whether or not she agrees with the stats that one in five Kiwi guys
Starting point is 00:27:30 find this a turn off and it's a woman that drives a messy car running a really dirty set up I think that I guess it does tell a lot about that person that they're disorganised, that they've got no hygiene that they don't take pride in their
Starting point is 00:27:48 possessions you know I think that they can tell a lot of things about someone yeah we've got to be careful because Meg is the only person I know granted it was years ago but that had a plant growing out of the upholstery of her car. Sorry, I don't have a garage, guys, like you guys. Is it yours carpeted, Clint?
Starting point is 00:28:04 So we do have a list of top ten. Was it like a plant? Let me give her a little bit of maybe innocence here. Was it a plant that you were curating, you know, like you'd grown at yourself? Like a fernary. Yeah. So you deliberately put it in the upholstery to have a bit of a garden feel inside? When it was there, I did quite like it.
Starting point is 00:28:24 And I didn't pull it out. Because I thought it kind of added the ambience. So the appellery was. was so moist that a plant was able to grow inside. It was like, no, it wasn't in the upholstery. It was like the door, the side of the door. It doesn't matter where it was, Meg. You had moths and mould growing in your car.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Okay. Well, yeah, so that's number 10. About one in five, Kiwi lads, if they see your car and it's filthy, just like, all right, they start assuming things that may be true, may not be true about it. A lot of dudes have messy cars. Yep. Like, the people that I know that have had messy cars are both dudes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Well, number nine, for the biggest turnoff. for guys, at least when it comes to women, having no interest in his life. It's number nine. Being mean about other women is number eight. Playing hard to get is number seven. We don't like that, supposedly. Well, that's probably just, you're just getting rejected, mate.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Maybe, yeah. There's a difference between hard to get and just getting rejected. Two different things. Number six, guys don't like it when you're being obsessed with social media? I guess what deems? obsessive. Like always scrolling and addicted to their phone maybe. Number five, I thought it should be higher
Starting point is 00:29:34 but it was poor hygiene. Okay, that's only number five. Does that count with like having a tree growing out of your own? Maybe. So here are four things that guys find more of a turnoff than poor hygiene. Entitlement at number four. Okay. Talking to an X still. Or talking about an X. Yeah, at number three.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Again, that goes without saying. But that's number three is the turn-offs. That's sad. Wow. constant phone use pops up again at number two and then number one is rude to wait stuff Oh yeah that always comes up hey rude to wait staff What if the right staff are rude to you?
Starting point is 00:30:08 I also find I don't think I've ever met anybody rude to wait staff Maybe it's just the circles that I have in my life But I've never met I've never ever Been in a situation where I've sat down with somebody And they're blatantly a dick to wait staff You haven't been out for dinner with Clint then Right
Starting point is 00:30:23 You was complaining about his moose bush the other day Whatever. I even find this rude. And some people would say it's fine. It's like when you're in the middle of a meal when someone comes around and tops up the water and they'll be in a conversation and they won't turn and go, thanks for that. I hardly can get through a full sentence
Starting point is 00:30:38 because of how many times the waitstaff will come over and I'll talk to them. If you go, thanks for that. Thank you so much. But the amount of people that won't thank someone for topping up their water, like it's just an expectation. Even that I find a little bit rude. That's a red flag for me, Meggy. You do it too much. She's too nice to waitstats.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Your favourite radio show? And what goes for? Edge Breakfast. Clint Megan Dan. An Alpha Romeo commission poll of a thousand singles Found 20% caught a messy car An instant turn off Why Alpha Romeo doing this sort of thing?
Starting point is 00:31:05 I guess they're doing car studies and stuff Yeah, maybe some sort of marketing tactic We're talking to Kyle I think Kylie is she on the line there She agrees with the dirty car staff Yeah, she dated someone Who had a filthy, disgusting car I mean, can we talk to a car?
Starting point is 00:31:22 I think you're talking to her. Get off the phone to a car. Yeah. We want to talk to a car. Kylie. I want to talk to Kylie. She dropped off and I'm trying to call her back. Oh, Kylie. Kylie. All right. Now she's screening me to him.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Well, her car, the guy that she went on a date with, it was filled up to the brim in the back seat. In the passenger seat, they went up to, yeah, the where you were sitting. The whole footwell filled with rubbish. That's disgusting. Honestly, that person needs to have their mind read. So I've got the list of things that apparently girls get turned off by guys the most. You're in a heterosexual relationship. Number 10 being a show off around his mates. Dan.
Starting point is 00:31:59 Oh, piss off. Dad's the biggest show off. Producer Carl, producer Brady? Am I being unfair? Yeah. No, no, no, not being unfair, he is. If there's a camera on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Number nine, talking about his exes. Which was funny because that was number three for the boys. Oh, right, and it's only a number nine turn off a woman. It should be 101. Stop talking about your ex if you're in a new relationship. Unless you're talking about your ex in a positive way. Do girls not mind that? I think that's fine.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Not all the time though. Not all the time. Every time you're at her dinner. Man, she was the best. Number eight, I think this should be higher. And I think this is something that definitely is a turnoff. No initiative. Like no drive for anything.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Why do you add an extra syllable on initiative? Because I've got the initiative to... That's one of my turn off. So words wrong. Adding extra syllables to words that don't need them. Initiative. Yeah, that's initiative. Number seven, doesn't read.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Which is funny because there was a different list that came out recently. that was number one for other people. Number six, making everything sexual. Oh, there's Clint. Sorry. Here you go. Use your initiative, man. Number five, being rude to his mum.
Starting point is 00:33:05 These are all very different. If you look at the list next to each other, the boys' ones are playing hard to get and being obsessed with social media, and the girls' ones is that they don't read, and then rude to their mom. When you say don't read, because this irks me, because I don't read books, I don't. Then listen to audiobooks. But I find listening to audio books is like I can't comment. concentrate. Like I have to be
Starting point is 00:33:25 literally laying there looking at the roof. That's your ADHD though. This probably makes it hard. But can you not read books as well? I literally... I got out my Kindle again the other day to read a book and I read about seven pages and then I was like... That's okay. Seven pages is a page thing? But then I have to go back and read them again because I'm like I wasn't taking that in.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Does anybody else do that? No, I need them. Number four, if he's following hundreds of Instagram models number three for the biggest turnoff for women when it comes to men and heterosexual relationships. Arrogance. I did read the Gruffalo yesterday. Oh, you got those dudes that brag about how much money that I've got.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Number two, poor hygiene, which is where we thought it should sit, Clint. Not at number seven or whatever the boys had it at. And number one, again, rude to wait stuff. That's so random to me. It is a, like, of all people. Not anyone else. Just wait stuff. Not just rude to people.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Being rude to your mum was like number five. And being rude to a stranger big stuff. So weird. I feel like it's just something. You know when somebody says think of a joke, it's like the first thing you think of. Brooke has a good one that she said didn't even make the top 10, but I tend to agree. Brooke, good morning. Morning.
Starting point is 00:34:30 What do you think should have been on that list? Oh, just men that can't handle their alcohol. I couldn't agree more. Like white girl wasted. Yeah, my husband's recently stopped drinking for the past like year and a half a bit due to a medication. He's on. It's been the most attractive thing ever. Not because he ever got really, really drunk, but I just love a sober man.
Starting point is 00:34:49 There's nothing sexy about someone drunk, hey? There's nothing. Not really drunk. I get it. really dry. And Shannon, morning. Good morning. What do you think the problem with the list is?
Starting point is 00:35:01 Oh, look, I think if you're trying to capture Kiwi blokes and Kiwi girls, then quizzing Alpha Romeo drivers probably isn't where that's at, hey. True. Yeah, it's an Alpha Romeo study, so
Starting point is 00:35:15 your hate for them is the same as Dan's hate for aqua drivers. I just think they've already got questionable taste. I agree. So I agree. I agree. Okay, thanks, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:28 This is the Clint Migg and Dan catch up. Want to hear the guys off here and a little looser? Listen and watch their Overtinkers podcast. He's in a little earlier than he normally would be. Marriott at First Night's not going to be on until early next year, but he's got a brand new TV show, John Aiken. Good morning, everybody. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:35:45 You're very different from you. Yes, yes. It's a three-part documentary series. It's called Lessons on Living. And it's based on the late Nigel Ladder's bestselling book. It's all about resilience. Essentially what happened was when he passed, I did a tribute on socials and the production team that was getting ready to do the documentary but couldn't do it because Nigel had passed, saw it and reached out to me and said,
Starting point is 00:36:08 would you step in for him? Wow. Wow. That's a lot of... And carry on the conversation. Yeah, how does that phone call go or however you found out about it? Because that is not only the greatest honor, but a lot of pressure. And I didn't know initially how to deal with it. Like, what do I do here? because he's got a huge legacy and New Zealanders know him so well. But for me, he was a mentor and a pioneer and I respected him so much. And I was like, yes, I'm in. It really stretched me because I got to do these really deep, long-form interviews with powerful Kiwis, you know, Anika Moore and Gilbert Anoka and Kings and Aisha Scott and Millie Kerr.
Starting point is 00:36:44 And there was just a lot of different people, Rachel Hunter, Benny. I mean, there were so many that put their hands up and said, we're happy to be on this. Yeah, actually, if you haven't seen the trailer, take a quick listen to this. It hurts. I never have felt like I'm good enough. Inspiring New Zealanders, just like us, on the psychologist's couch. God, you're bloody good of what you do, John. I'll tell you a real personal thing.
Starting point is 00:37:06 You hear cried twice. Hi. Bend the lap, bowling, not. Yeah, just bull. It's not supposed to happen. And the lessons on living they've learned along the way. Interestingly, talking to these Kiwis on the show, what they've faced and how they've got through it, it all really blends nicely to what Nigel was talking about.
Starting point is 00:37:26 So who benefits the most do you think from watching lessons on living? I think it's the general New Zealander out there just feeling overwhelmed, whether it be with finances, grief. Yes, that's right. Work stress, pressure to perform. We all feel it. And when you watch it, you're going to realize, wow, everyone is in it. Who shocked you the most out of the? celebrities. They all really went there with me because what I would do is hair and makeup
Starting point is 00:37:54 40 minutes. I'd go in and talk to them. You'd do them here and make-up. You did. You really have to reach you 100. I would sit there and I'd self-disclose and then self-disclose and so by the time the camera's roll, we were in it. We're in this day and age that there is so much noise because we are constantly looking at noise. I've said to the boys, I know I have a problem with my phone and so on Saturdays I don't go on my phone at all. I call it in 90s day. I'm completely off technology. I like it. Like I don't even use GPS. She's always like, though. Do you find that the amount of technology is hindering our ability to be resilient? Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:27 And in fact, we look at that, particularly with Sean Johnson, the league player. He talks about social media and the scrutiny he had on him as a youngster. I also talk about, you know, being on married at first sight, you get a lot of hate as well as love. And initially, I didn't deal very well at all. But then what I decided to do was step back. And now I take screenshots of the negative comments. And then I send them to my mates. And we laugh about it.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Is there a main theme where you go, everyone's kind of doing this that's caused them to rise above it? Their storylines, their trauma, their events that they've had to face, the crisis is all different. But what they've done about it is quite similar. But I think what Nigel would like people to remember is that resilience is something you can learn. It's not something you have or you don't have. John Aiken, relationship expert, as we know, I'm on Married Fersight, but he is also going to be hosting the three-part documentary series. Lessons on Living, premieres on Sky Open Tonight,
Starting point is 00:39:25 and then you can stream it three now and also neon. Be really cool watching you in that space, John. Remember, always welcome. Oh, I'll be back next year. Yeah, we'll see you in February. See, mate. Clint Mc and Dan, Edge Breakfast. Obviously, there are a lot of signs popping up around the country at the moment
Starting point is 00:39:41 with their general election on in just a few weeks. You know, the big signs on the big wooden stakes in their outside people's houses or in public parks. A lot of them are vandalos. A lot of them are kicked over. I'm sick of seeing those ugly mugs everywhere. Don't need to say that. Well, you know, I'm just sick of them.
Starting point is 00:39:59 To me fair, they do get my attention. And we thought yesterday, why don't we just go and chuck our own giant sign up alongside them all? Do you guys remember what I said to you before we went? No. You don't? Interesting. I don't think I'd...
Starting point is 00:40:15 You guys weren't listening when I said, I'm pretty sure this is illegal. Are we sure that we can do this? You know, when the mics turn off, we don't look. Listen, to me. To you. People said to us, if they're outside people's houses, they aren't actually paid.
Starting point is 00:40:28 In fact, you can't pay someone to promote your sign. You just need to get someone that goes, yeah, sure, I'll put it up because they're a yes person. Yeah, council property, though. Yeah, we did look into that. Yeah. So yesterday, the three of us, along with our producer car, and our web girl Bella ended up taking our signs, multiple,
Starting point is 00:40:44 steaks, power drill. Not the meat, the piece. I just wonder why we had a lovely bit of romp down there. Yeah. And we went down to a big local park where all the signs were and thought we would add ours. Okay, here we go. So we've picked the spot. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:58 We're going to go last after Christopher Luxon and that orbit. Boom, boom, boom, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb. It's so small. It's a bit smaller. Yeah, it's so embarrassing. You've got it in reverse. There you go. Right.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Can I just have it said that I ask how to make them bigger? So. Ah! Oh no, sorry. Oh, my wrong. You worry too much, big boy? That one doesn't look as big as Christopher Luxor there, but he's compensating. That was Dan stripping the screws out, by the way.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Two things there. That's me using a power tool. And secondly, what wasn't included in that audio was Meg kicking over Chris Hipkins signed from the Labor Party to use his steak to nail ours into the ground. If you go down to Vic Park, you'll see Labor's is on its back. Yeah, look, if you know me, you know it, have nothing to do. that could get me in jail. Yeah, you've never been a Labor supporter, have you?
Starting point is 00:41:53 No, stop it. Okay, when you know it, after we got it up, we got a call from the boss. And I was like, oh, guys, guys, guys, crowd round. I think he's congratulating us because he's heard the brilliant work that we're doing promoting the show around the country.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Not the case. The boss. We've just finished putting our sign up against all the others, but ours is way smaller than Christopher Luxon's. Right, sir, I've just spoken to the legal team. Yeah, did you, you spoke? No, we've just put it out and put it into like a public park. Yeah, so they get permission for that. It's like a $20,000 fine.
Starting point is 00:42:28 Yeah, so it is illegal. Like I've said about $4,000. 20,000. No, no, me, before we pull it out, you can't pay for this type of marketing. It's honestly, it's about 35 centimetre. I'd say it's probably like 70 centimetres by 40. Also, we did steal Chris Hipkin's steak as well because his had already fallen down. So we thought he's not using it. the Labour Party thanks to them.
Starting point is 00:42:52 With 20 grand, I could probably place the one that you stand there in a corporate for a All right, so you just want me to take it out? Please. Yeah. What a waste of time. Yeah, it was. Yeah. Yeah, so just pulled it out in one big heap. And fairness to us, though, Jack, you knew we were going down.
Starting point is 00:43:08 So you could have told us literally before we left. I think he thought we were going door knocking and asking people if we could attach it to their fence or put it outside their house. I still think we should do that, Dan, should do that. I think that Dan should do that. Dan should do, like, what is it, a neighbourhood? Do you want me to take it to someone's house? Yes.
Starting point is 00:43:26 And ask if I can nail it up. Yes, absolutely. I think that's our next thing. If we're not going to get fined $20,000, you just need to find the right house. I'll do it. Any chance to use Carl's Power Drill again? I'll do it. That's not a euphemism.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Really? No, he's got a Makita. And it was fun to use as well. So I'll go, okay, how about tomorrow? On the show, I go to someone's house, and I'll go to some holmes house. My foot traffic area. Yeah, good.
Starting point is 00:43:50 And I'll try and get a couple of our signs on the fence. You're the most charismatic on the show. Oh, mine is Clint. We should. Thanks, me. If anyone has signs outside their house, like you're one of those yes people and you have, I don't know, three or four of them and you want to add us to the list,
Starting point is 00:44:05 we should make our signs available to them. They can do the work for us. If I'm the second most charismatic, what does that make you mean? Oh, the third definition. Just a funny. Poor thing. Easy money.
Starting point is 00:44:19 One letter. Ten categories. and just 30 seconds. Let's play. Easy money. Here we go, your letter is E today. Give us 10 answers without repeating any, and the cash is yours.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Hey, Carlos. Hey, how's it going? Good, bro. We're good. Cool to see that you're studying full-time primary education. I think that's awesome. We're getting more male teachers.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Good on you. The lack of them. Oh, cheers, thank you. And you know what? In the past, teachers have won a thousand bucks on this. Oh, it's your right, can. It is the profession. Hopefully, hopefully.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Yes, the profession that has the most success. Yeah. Although you're not fully qualified yet. Yes, yeah. Not yet. Nearly there, nearly there. Carlos, your letter is E for education. You ready?
Starting point is 00:45:02 Cool. Yep. There we go. Give me a number. 11. A famous mountain. A mountain. A singer.
Starting point is 00:45:16 A positive word. Enjoy. Something hot. Eggs. A bird. Eagle. Something that holds water. Not quite there, Calais.
Starting point is 00:45:39 That was a really hard letter. Some of the categories they did were extremely hard. Something that holds water, estuary. Come on, team. My favorite artist is when he said eggs when they're cooked. Yeah. It's good. It's here and yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:52 I love that answer, Carlos. Well done. Yeah, the earth holds water. An elephant trunk holds water. Oh, come on. Team, that is so hard. That is so hard. He's pretty hard.
Starting point is 00:46:02 All good thing. Thanks, Carlos. Thanks Carlos. I reckon he calls us back when he's fully qualified. He'll get a thousand bucks. He passed on singer Ed Sharon, Eminem, Elton John, and Ricke and Glacius. There were some really easy ones, like a number in a famous mountain.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was a... But don't punch down. Don't rub it in. That's what I'm just saying. He's already lost to sound as much. It's so funny. The girl at 7 o'clock, we were all like, you got that wrong.
Starting point is 00:46:29 You gave us three. letter word for a five-no and then with Carlos well, all go bro, you tried so hard. This was so tricky. We're really excited. We're doing this Westpac Studio Tap coming up next. The favourite part of the show with how much we're giving away. Incredible prizes. Gave away $1,000 with airpoints on Monday and a
Starting point is 00:46:46 $750 festival kit yesterday. What will be given away when we tap our giant West Pack card? Something epic, that's for sure. Yeah. Get your Clint Meg and Dan Fax. The Westpac Studio Tap. Yeah, some incredible prizes that have been won this week. And I would imagine today is no different. Wouldn't you know it?
Starting point is 00:47:08 It's bringing people out of the woodwork for the very first time. First time caller. Just came to say hello. Morning Jade. Hey, Jade. Good morning. There she is. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:47:20 Thank you. Yeah, very exciting. Yeah. I mean, basically you've won already. We don't know what it is, but we know it'll be good. Thanks to Westpac. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What's your setup? You married?
Starting point is 00:47:30 Married, yeah. Got a husband, three kids, and it's also my daughter's birthday on Saturday. So, yeah. So, yeah. This is a perfect timing. She's going to be six. She was my COVID baby. Oh, I see. Yeah, yeah, nice. Okay. All right, well, let's see what we can get you. All right, Dan, get that big card of yours. I've got the big card out, the big Westpack card. Here we go. I'm going to tap and go. Ready? Yeah. And, yep. Oh, God. Date Night Done Right.
Starting point is 00:47:58 $850 Westpack prepaid mastercard for dinner activities and a night away. Hey! Thank you so much. Thank you. Oh my gosh. When was the last time you and Hubby went away and had some time away from the three kids? Probably like years ago. Wow.
Starting point is 00:48:17 I didn't remember. So this is going to be amazing. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm sure you can split some of it for a babysitter or somebody that you need to look after the kids. So you can have an actual decent time. Yes, no, that's going to be amazing. Yeah. connect together as well.
Starting point is 00:48:31 You know what? You don't even need to scumpe either. You can get dessert and then another dessert. You get three entre. You know, you could go all out. Yeah, you can get whatever you want. Really all out. It's a great night out.
Starting point is 00:48:40 Oh, he'll be fizzing. I know. He's going to be so pleased. No, thank you. Fourth baby coming up. Thank you. Poor baby loading. You're going to say, this baby's my Westpac baby.
Starting point is 00:48:53 Maybe you could name it Westpac. That would really help. Thanks, Jane. Oh, thank you so much. You're welcome, Jade. Payday splurges are a big thing. I'm really bad with that. Well, actually, my husband's worse it than me
Starting point is 00:49:06 that when the money comes in, it seems very exciting to be able to go, oh, look at all this money we have and go and spend some things and buy some things. But Westpac split actually automatically divvies up your salary, which is what you would need, Dan, if you don't have your wife, into multiple accounts before you have time to splurge it. So it divvies it up and does that for you. So it's almost like you don't know what's gone.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Yes, exactly. So you can set it up in your Westpac 1 app and you can change your split whenever life changes. Epic. Listen out for your cue to call. It'll happen again tomorrow and again on Friday
Starting point is 00:49:35 for your chance to win. Split automatically splits your pay into different accounts before you spend it. Eligibility, criteria, exclusions and terms apply. Find out more at westpac.com.com. Get your Clint-Megan Dan Fax.
Starting point is 00:49:49 The Lodge. The LoGeney. We have Jeann who owns Shortlist dating. It's a matchmaking website. You can actually send in your text 3343. questions if you have any for Jeannie Week.
Starting point is 00:50:02 We actually got this voice memo sent in from Jack. Hey Jeannie, in your expert opinion, what's the best type of DM to send someone I'm interested in? Like, so it cuts through the noise but doesn't sound creepy and weird. First of all, congratulations on having the guts to do that because it's definitely not easy taking the plunge to slide into people's DMs. But I always say you've got to shoot your shot. If you send a DM totally doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:50:29 Maybe do it on mass. give it a go if there's a few that you like. Like a book. Just like a sort of like a newsletter. Lead with kindness. I think the biggest thing is that people go, hey, how was your weekend? What are you up to?
Starting point is 00:50:42 Leave with a compliment. Hi Amanda. I saw your Instagram feed. I think you're really beautiful. Are you single? I'm interested. Wow, just like that. Like that.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Shoot your shot. Stop beating around the bush. Yeah. I think everyone plays too many games. Or they'll comment on like an Instagram or something like that and hope that they'll notice them when you do. It would be creepy about it. Like, don't go, like, commenting too much or doing too many of them to the same person
Starting point is 00:51:07 because then you're heading into stalker territory. So you just want to do one nice, easy message and lean into it. What about a silly little gif? Oh, yeah, do a gif. When I was on Tinder, I used to send, like, a thing, and it was just a whale jumping out of the water. And then I'd follow it up with whale hello there. Oh, cute. Fun.
Starting point is 00:51:21 Okay. That worked on Hannah. Yeah. She would have been desperate. I don't know if I did it with her particularly. She'd been, on the emoji thing, though, what she's, Should you not do? Don't send over jeans, splashes, any of that gross, creepy stuff.
Starting point is 00:51:37 People still do. And whatever you do, please do not send unconsented sexual images. No, that's calling for a blocking in a call to the police. Yeah, but it happens all the time. Wow, does it? Like, if you're in your 30s and 40s and you have Snapchat, please stop. You're only using that for one thing. I mean, no one's looking at a picture of one of those and going brilliant, are they?
Starting point is 00:51:58 Even if you do like the person. Even the female one. You mean the male ones definitely... Anything in that area is confronted as you're opposed. I've never seen a male pick and gone. Oh, marry me. Like, you're the one. Please.
Starting point is 00:52:11 And if ladies, if you get a message like that after you called the police and sort that out, you can always message them and go, oh my gosh, did you know there's something really wrong? Go to the doctor and like describe something and then get them really freaked out about it and be like, that's not normal by the way. You've got a little rash there and that's a real, that's a worry. Producer Carl? I'm just writing this down. You say don't send them?
Starting point is 00:52:33 No, sending. Don't. No. Never, never do it. There's sexual harassment, everybody. Also, why are you doing research? You're married, Carl. Oh, no, because I keep sending this my wife and I assume she hates it.
Starting point is 00:52:43 I'm going to be single soon, so this is good to me. Oh, wait, 100thage. What's the craziest message you've ever received over a dating app where you're just like, oh my God, I've known this person a week and they've sent me this. Let's not do any more. We've covered them off. Sexy phone. It's just good messages.
Starting point is 00:52:57 It could be craziest in the best way or in the worst way or in the worst way. One of them are lovely. Maybe you've got to move and it works 90% of the time. Well, hello there. My favourite one that I used to do was, I've got something I need to ask you. I've got something I'm dying to ask you or I've got a little secret to tell you. And it would hook them in. They wanted to know.
Starting point is 00:53:16 What do I want to know about them? And then what do you say? Then you worry about that later. Yeah. Something. How was your weekend? You've got them reclined to you. And that's why I'm still single.
Starting point is 00:53:29 Thank you. I love Jenny. Oh, and Under the Edge, craziest message you have ever received over a dating app. The Love Genie. We were talking to our Love Jenny earlier, and we got talking about the craziest message you've ever received on a dating app, because some people are pretty ballsy with what they might say when it's not face-to-face. Or it might be like crazy as in like super lovely and, I don't know, like, maybe they wanted to like marry you very early. on. Can I be honest? Sorry, Dan. I see some of my friends on dating app still and the messages that they get them forward to me and show me. I feel like some guys see their messages to people
Starting point is 00:54:11 on Tinder and Hinge and wherever as like gags for the boys. I feel like they send them. And then screenshot it. Maybe screenshot it or if they think the boys are around. I'm like, who's that too? It's definitely not to the girl that's, you know, you're trying to get to know. Someone said the craziest message they got was somebody sending me a screenshot of their calendar, of the nights that they were available, because we're trying to work out a date. But on the calendar, he had other dates that he had already locked in with other people. Because he wasn't exclusive. Some of these guys just need to have a lesson in dating, eh?
Starting point is 00:54:47 Was it a weird flex? Hey, we can I, weird do you want me to squeeze you in? Because I've got other priorities. Maybe that does feel like an arrogant flecks. Now, Meg, someone's text through a message that they received. I'm assuming it's a girl. Okay. I want you to tell me what you would have said to this message.
Starting point is 00:55:02 Here we go. First message. Ping. Ping. Yeah. I've got 10 inches for you. A C block. Okay.
Starting point is 00:55:09 Who's that too? What about this one? That's honestly, I don't want 10 inches even if that was real. That's, I'm dead. That's almost a foot long subway. What about this one? You've got great picks. Are you actually that size now or are these old photos?
Starting point is 00:55:25 Who's that for? Oh my. Like, why? You guys are going to eat up alone. You know, it's like a lonely, sad, and then you go, oh, girls are girls. Girls don't like nice guys. You definitely cannot read that top text. Which one?
Starting point is 00:55:37 Absolutely not. Yeah, okay, good. And I wouldn't, you know what? I wouldn't even laugh at that one. No, it's like, again, that, I know we can't read it, but that's exactly what I mean when I'm like, who's that for? It feels like they're trying to do gags for people. That's not working. Let's go to Paul.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Morning, Paul. Morning, Paul. Morning, Paul. Morning, guys, how they going? Good. Now, this is a girl that messaged you this. Multiple, actually. So a few years ago I was a solo dad and I was on the apps and I had solo dad in my bio.
Starting point is 00:56:05 And multiple women messaged me asking if I needed a new mum for my kid. And how did that go down with you? Was that something that worked or you were like, no, don't bring my kid into this so quickly? Without a doubt, it was creepy every time. Yeah. Yeah. Were they saying it like, do you need, does your kids need a new mommy like that? Or is it like?
Starting point is 00:56:25 Exactly. Exactly like that then. That was a female voice obviously I had that happened one time to my husband in real life where he was pushing my daughter at a market by himself and a woman walked up and sent his mum in the picture and he said yes and she goes that's a shame
Starting point is 00:56:39 it's a shame me to love the kids what's how okay it's good news Susie hi Susie you tried Tinder once what did you get I got a I'm just saying I used to know you will you come out with me
Starting point is 00:56:56 and in the next text was Will you have Right I don't eat the X with me Yeah I guess you know He's laying it on the table That's what he wants
Starting point is 00:57:05 One and done Dust it with the app Say a mansion Someone when they're Not doing it anymore Yeah no Someone who realised that it wasn't really going The way that they had hoped
Starting point is 00:57:16 I guess is the last stitch effort to get a date It says Asked if my mate that I'm in a photo with If they were single and on the app And could you put in a good word so he'd be like hey who's that chick in the photo with you meg what's her name could you put in a good word with her for me that's why you don't have multiple people in
Starting point is 00:57:33 your photos yeah yeah you need especially enough you got a hot of finger yeah damn i'm going sometimes you i think sometimes i'm like oh god did i miss out on that whole experience because i was already like married up long before the app the apps were a big thing whereas sometimes when you hear these stories like maybe it's just as well there's some of these texts like the one that bexas just text through i really want to read it out. You can read that one, can't you? He says, she got a message from a guy and he goes, I may not
Starting point is 00:58:00 go down in history, but I will go Yeah, we'll go down somewhere. All right, it's the edge. Take the edge off your day with Clint Meg and Dan. Say something, 25 to 9, Clint Meg and Dan. I feel like
Starting point is 00:58:22 right now we're all loaded with our guns. Speak for yourself, I'm not loaded. Our guns are loaded and we're all ready to draw and fire at each other. Let's just hold fire and let Meg say what she has to say. I think I know what it is. Are you loaded, Meg?
Starting point is 00:58:38 No, I am not loaded. Because I know you're coming for me and I'm ready to shoot back. I noticed that Clint's wears t-shirts with lots of slogans on them. Oh yeah, he's got that live- laugh, love wonder. I don't think he ever reads what they say when you buy them. Like yesterday you had a t-shirt on that I wrote it down on my phone.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Asphalt speed motor legend. I don't even know what t-shirt you're talking about. Asphalt, eh? Are you a bit of a motor legend? This car doesn't even have a motor. I will admit if I see a shirt and I try it on and I like the first. bit of it. I will never read what it says. In fact, one time I bought a jacket that had murderer written down the arm,
Starting point is 00:59:29 once someone pointed it out, I stopped wearing it. That'll explain why you're wearing a MAGA t-shirt today. Yeah. Did it really say that? Yeah, it did. It does. And I noticed you wear a lot of slogan t-shirts, and I didn't know if this is something that you just don't read beforehand buying. Maybe it is like the songs, make it.
Starting point is 00:59:44 I'll listen to songs and I'll hear them and how they make me feel. But I won't really listen to the lyrics. So you just look at the look of the shirt rather than what it says. And Dan, you can't talk because I've looked at your shirt, and now I'm about to draw my pistol in fire. If you think it's so crazy, what does your shirt, without looking, say right now? Because I think you'll find it quite humorous
Starting point is 01:00:02 when you realize. Stand up for me. Oh, I know. So this is the shirt I wear quite often. It's blue with pink leasuring on it. And I brought it for the coloring. Yeah. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 01:00:14 I know. It's your summer color. Take a guess. It says something about like, I don't know, the French Revolution or something. It says Holy Spirit. It says renegades, which I don't of your eye. And then it has Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 01:00:30 Taking it off. I don't believe in what it says. Holy Spirit, and it's got quotation, Mike. Like, you're saying it. Please say my pants don't say, praise the Lord. I don't want to take them off. Hey, Mick, if I can fire back at you, you've got writing, don't look at it. What does your shirt say?
Starting point is 01:00:49 I think it's about Portugal. Is it about Portugal? Okay. Yeah, there is a word that says, Portugal? Okay. Other than that, is there a chicken on it? There is. You know your shirt well. I don't know. It doesn't say anything else? What does the Portuguese say above Portugal? Is it something lame like, live your life?
Starting point is 01:01:09 Why don't speak Portuguese? I don't actually know what it says. It says, por favor. Oh, and there's a lot of writing on the back. From the sun-drenched coast of Portugal, where the sea kisses the sky. Donald Trump is my man. It does not say that. There's a lot of words. You should read it when it's got like a whole novel on the back.
Starting point is 01:01:28 But who spends the time to read? Now I'm defending the whole thing that I shot at you. Damn, Clint, I see what you've done here. Why am I now standing here shirtless? Oh, my God. How do we get Dan's top off so easily? Because you've got a Nirvana one on. I'd rather that than my Holy Spirit one.
Starting point is 01:01:44 Anybody don't want my chicken one? Please take your shirt off so I don't feel. I thought I was in the minority, but now based on the fact that Dan is half naked and you couldn't tell me what's on the back of yours. I think maybe the majority of people don't read the text on a shirt that they buy. Or is that just the three crazies in this room? Do you always read the text or never read the text now that you're thinking about it and you buy clothing?
Starting point is 01:02:09 Maybe got caught out one time. Is it cold in here, Dan? Your nips look perky. Yeah. Has it affected my belly as well? That's way bigger than it usually is. Listen to your favorite breakfast show whenever you like. Clint Meg and Dan
Starting point is 01:02:23 The Edge Meg brought something to my attention I didn't know what I was doing because it wasn't doing it and that's reading the text on clothing when I purchase it. I like it for the colour or how it looks but I typically don't read what it says
Starting point is 01:02:37 Or you're currently wearing a Nirvana t-shirt Name three members of Nirvana. Kirk Cobain He's the easy one Now give me two more Dave Grohl Okay well done And Dave and Kirk's mate
Starting point is 01:02:51 The other guy. Smells like teen spirit? Smells like teen spirit unplugged. Oh my God, honestly. Smells like teen spirit acoustic. Okay, right, you are. She's another one. We're going to go to the phones.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Did you ever buy a t-shirt or buy something you realized you didn't know what it said on it until afterwards? Anna, your mother-in-law bought your daughter a dress. Yeah, she'd been in India and came back with gifts. It was a cute little pink and white dress with yellow flowers on it, and it said adios Pachachos. How old was your daughter? She was three at the time, and I put a daycare in it as well. And it was pretty funny.
Starting point is 01:03:36 When did you find out it said adios Pachachachos? Oh, once we put it on her, and then that's when I noticed it, and like to mom's mother-in-law, she never figured it out. Did you say she'd been to Mexico or India as well? It was in India. And it said Adyos, Bichagos. That's so funny. That's so funny.
Starting point is 01:03:58 I love that. Again, it's good Lisa. I, hundred of the edge. Hi, Lisa. Hi, good morning. Have you been a victim, Lisa, of not reading your clothing before you've purchased it and worn it? Absolutely. I had a sweater.
Starting point is 01:04:13 It said, so it was O-H. So it says, oh, so. Ho in Y I read it as Oh So Ho New York Until my mum That it actually says Oh so horny
Starting point is 01:04:30 Brilliant Right I never wore it again Because Soho New York is a beautiful place And so you're like Oh Soho New York I've been there But it was actually oh so hoony
Starting point is 01:04:40 I mean so horny Oh so horny How long were you wearing it before that I was so broad to your attention. For ages. Probably, like, the whole winter, because it was a sweater. And my mom came around and she just says, oh no. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:04:57 So horny. Did you get any guys or girls coming up to you? Lisa going like, hey, baby. Luckily not. No, no, yeah. You're good. Thanks, Lisa. Now you'll read your clothing forever more.
Starting point is 01:05:09 Yes, absolutely. Yeah, and Justin, what about you? I don't think you are a victim, per se, are you? Or you don't know if you are or not. You there, Justin? Oh yeah, guys, no, I'm not, I'm a self-inflicted victim of 45, so I'll go into the shop and look at the tissue and go, damn, that's a nice looking t-shirt and read it. Yeah. But to ask me the next morning what the hell was said on it, I wouldn't have a clue.
Starting point is 01:05:33 Oh, you forget. Very quickly on age. Have you been stung by the FBI female body inspector one? I'll see people wearing a dog. Fortunately, no, not yet, but I do wonder how many nose-to-tails you guys just caused, because the second you met is that I had to look down and go, what, oh, well, a tissue in my world. True, the amount of people I wonder, you're right, Justin, who are right now looking at their shoe and going, I have no idea to say that.
Starting point is 01:05:53 By the way, who's rocking the female body inspector T-shirt in 2026, eh? I don't think anybody is. Nowhere near as bad as my nana gave me a badge to put on my top as a kid that said, Willie Winky Winky Likes to Shire and was a picture of a winky penis. Oh, my God. Oh, Nana. Your nana sounds fun. Oh, Nana.
Starting point is 01:06:13 What did Nana think it was? She probably thought it was like a cute little, like, toy type situation. All right, up next we took the debate that went down last night. Also, more electric ad tickets, how good. And John Oliver, he's been chatting about us here in little old New Zealand. By the way, Nathan's just text through saying, right now he's rocking the FBI female body inspector t-shirt. Right now. Send us a pick.
Starting point is 01:06:38 I don't believe you, Nate. It's breakfast, Clint Mick and Dan. Mitch. Clint Mick and Dan, all right, it is time to put a few stories on your radar for Wednesday, the 14th of October. Jebis. That's crazy, eh, when you start doing it, the day. Crazy. Crazy. Something like less than 70 days until Christmas now. And unfortunately, as Meg said, spring is hopeful that sun is just around the corner.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Perhaps not. Bring a spring. I hate spring so much because you think you're going to, you get out of winter, so you think it'll get warmer weather. And it's not what happens. We always have, because of El Nino. El Nino. El Nina is a little nickname. A Mexican lady called Nina. The weather goes crazy.
Starting point is 01:07:22 So up to 11 tropical cyclones could form in the South West Pacific this season, which apparently could reach category three strength or higher. So it's going to be a wet and windy spring, which it always is, but this one's gotten worse than the last previous years. The risk is expected to be higher for parts of the South West Pacific than other years in the past. It's going to be wet, it's going to be windy, expected. That's bad news. Bad news is the good news.
Starting point is 01:07:51 Electric Ave, Australasia's biggest music festival has just announced 4,000 extra tickets, which is cool because it sold in quotes almost instantly last month. But the 4,000 tickets will only be available exclusively to residents of Christchurch City in the Salwin Waimakariri districts. That's cool. Yeah, so they're going to try and add more space and going to move into the golf course fairway. Tickets haven't gone on sale. Yep, when they do, those in Christchurch will be able to get their hands on them.
Starting point is 01:08:21 And the good news is now you can watch Calvin Harris and have a bit of a hit with a golf ball at the same time. It's a win-win. You know, they shut down the golfing during the festival? Not sure. Four! Also, if you missed it last night, the minor party debate, Tova O'Brien, hosted on TV and Z.
Starting point is 01:08:40 I couldn't understand a word of any of the policies from any of them. That all of us sign up to when we get a benefit pay. We need to move on to... I think we should start with politicians first. We need to. Because you can't have politicians making the law. No, do you. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:08:55 The reason that this idea. What a waste of time. By the way, that was not edited. Waste of time. Honestly, man, these people. Honestly, do think they need to be in like radio soundproof type booths. And then just when you've had enough or they're not making a point or answering the question as it was asked,
Starting point is 01:09:12 you just turn their mics off. I mean, I did say we had to over in yesterday, teasing the debate. And I did say to her, she needs a button to turn off their mind. She obviously didn't take my advice. It's funny. I guess it's like, you know how news readers speak in a certain way? They speak in a certain tone when they read the news and it gets very serious.
Starting point is 01:09:26 I feel like politicians do the same and I find it very hard to believe anything they're saying when you can hear. The voice goes very different in how they speak about policies. I'm like just speak to me like I'm a normal human being. I can't. Always it goes down at the end. Yeah, yeah. It's very hard to connect with them at the moment. Anyway, that was that.
Starting point is 01:09:46 Clint, Meg and Dan. The edge. Oh, you want me to go out there? I normally say the edge, though. I don't normally say to do it. Want to hear more of Clint, Meg and Dan, but completely unfiltered? Catch the Overthinkers audio and video pod every single day on the Rover app. All wherever you get your pots.
Starting point is 01:10:03 Overthinkers. Rover. Music, radio, podcasts.
