The Entrepreneur DNA - The Messy Middle: How to Build a Business When Your Life Is Falling Apart | Christina Deering
Episode Date: September 9, 2026In this episode, I sit down with Christina Deering, energy and intuition coach and host of the You Unlimited podcast, to talk about something I think about constantly: how the energy you bring to your... business matters just as much as the strategy. Christina walks us through the difference between wishing for something and actually being aligned with it, why so many business owners build something they don't even want and end up wanting to burn it down, and how to use your body to tell whether you're in the right lane. She opens up about going through four back-to-back miscarriages while simultaneously doubling her business, and how healing that grief actually expanded her capacity to hold a bigger vision for her life and work. We get into practical tools like the "alter ego" exercise, "trusting the crickets" through the messy middle, and her five-minute energy reset for staying grounded when everything outside of you feels out of control. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right but still stuck, or like your business is exploding while your personal life is falling apart, this conversation gives you real, practical ways to work through it. What is up the entrepreneur or DNA family if you are building a business and sometimes trying to figure out how you actually take the energy to go build that business that seems to be getting sucked by family or friends or personal issues or health and take that energy to drive the business the right way.
We have someone who focuses on how we, the business owner, the drivers can harness our energy for the right purposes and keep going while times are tough.
Christina Deering is here.
you. I'm so good. I'm so excited to be here, Justin. This is going to be a lot of fun.
It is. Now, I'm from the West Coast. I live in Miami, but everything you and I have talked about,
I had the pleasure of being on your podcast. Phenomenal podcast, by the way, I encourage
everyone to look up Christina Deering, get over to the podcast. But everything we have been talking
about, I firmly believe energetically, like with myself, right? So let's talk a little bit,
not about your story first, but let's let the listener understand the power.
of the energy that they are not only just focusing on, but then outwardly giving towards something.
So I know that people have heard people say energy is everything. And what I think is really
interesting about that is when I think about when we're building something and I think about
two different people doing it and they could take the exact same strategy and implement it from
different energies, it might work really powerfully for someone. They might get exactly
what it is that they desire. And for the other person, it's not working for them at all. And they're like,
wait, I did the exact same thing. What's the outlier? What's happening? Why is it not working for me?
It all comes down to the energy that you're utilizing to actually push that forward, push it into the
collective. Who are you being when you're doing the things? Are you magnetizing in the clients,
the experiences, the opportunities that are in alignment with what you're physically doing? But are you
in alignment? And do you desire to receive what it is that you're telling the world that you desire?
to receive. So when I think about energy, it's all about who am I being when I'm showing up
for the thing that I desire. And is that actually magnetizing in the people, the opportunities
and all the things that I desire? Or am I blocking that in some way? And that's where we can
actually step into energy healing to move all the blocks, the hidden blocks that are quite
literally sabotaging your results all day long. Now, is this wishful thinking and it'll just show
up? No. I think that when we're in a state of wishing, it's probably not going, it's kind of a state
of wanting. I want this, therefore I will continue to want this forever. But if you say, okay,
I know that this is inevitable, who do I get to be and become in this moment such that it starts
to actually move towards me is different. So I think when we're wishing for something, it's like saying
it's outside of myself. I'm not, it's not attainable. I want this. Therefore, I will continue wanting
versus being like, of course it will happen.
And I'm going to keep showing up, even when I get kicked in the ass over and over and over
again, I'm going to keep showing up because I know that it's inevitable.
Right.
And so we keep showing up for the thing that we absolutely know was going to happen regardless
of what our outside circumstances happening because our 3D reality, what we're experiencing
right now is an old manifestation, right?
This energy is old.
This is based on what I thought yesterday and a year ago, right?
How can I change what I'm feeling right now such that?
it starts to reflect in my 3D reality.
But so often we're looking at what's around us and saying, oh, this is reality.
It's like, no, this is what your reality was based on what you thought 20 minutes ago,
an hour ago, yesterday, a year ago.
How can you change it right now and have the holding power that says, I'm willing to believe
in this even when it hasn't shifted yet, but I know it's coming?
It's like when we place the Amazon order, we're not like, is it actually coming?
Wait a minute.
I want to know the package is here.
It's like, if we are so concerned that the Amazon package,
package is actually coming, we lose the plot, right? Like, it's on its way. But just because it's not
on your doorstep right now does not mean it's not on its way. And we have to be able to stick
through that experience, that middle, messy middle. So this isn't, you know, the manifesting and just
thinking nice thoughts and just, you know, oh, it'll happen if I just sit here and think about,
you know, making millions of dollars or getting more clients or I'm just going to think.
There's actual activity. There's action. There's something.
that you can execute.
What would that be for the listener?
So I think there's such a massive difference between action and inspired action.
Like, do you feel aligned with the thing that you're doing?
Because we're running a race right now.
And so often, people are not taking the time to tune in and say, is this my race, though?
Like, am I even on the right street?
Like, I'm sprinting and I'm running as fast as I can.
And I just passed the finish line.
And I've built something I don't even want to show up for, actually.
I don't even like what I built.
And I want to burn it to the ground.
How often do we hear business owners say, like, I want to burn it to the ground.
I don't want to show up.
I'm burnt out.
This is too much.
It's like if we had just spent five minutes tuning in, getting quiet, saying like,
what do I actually want to build?
What did I come here to build?
Uniquely, when I can do that, I'm like, whoa, I was three streets over.
Or I was literally going south and I was supposed to be going north.
And so it's about like, if I can tune in and say like, what did I come here uniquely to build
and start to move in that direction, that's inspired action.
That's completely different.
But we need to be able to work with what we're receiving and actually take action towards it.
It's twofold.
You are so speaking, shocker, you and I have a great friendship and connection.
I had to go do that in my own world.
I built a business for give or take almost 20 years.
And I wasn't in the right lane.
It was stubbornness.
It was ego.
It was all the classic male kind of dominated like, I'm going to show them.
Right.
I mean, I literally had people saying, stop doing this.
It wasn't even hard for me to figure out, should I be doing it not.
So talk to the listener and the viewers.
How can they, without having someone like a, without me calling and saying, hey, stop doing this.
How can they feel it?
How can they recognize it?
How can they see they are not in their right lane?
So so often people that are trying to tune into their intuition or kind of like what they're meant to
do get really confused because they're like, okay, is that my mind? Is that my ego? Is that my
intuition? I don't know. And I felt the same way because so often people were kind of saying,
no, follow this rule, forget about individual thought. Think about our school systems.
Memorize all these things and don't ask questions, right? Like just do that. We're building a
workforce. We're not building individual thought. And so a lot of us were conditioned to kind of put
our individual thought to the wayside. So the thing that I started doing to really tune in and say,
is this mine? Am I going in the right direction was I started to tune into my body and start to
say, and for someone who might not be in tune with their body, the thing that I actually recommend
is start to do a body scan while you're doing something you're already going to do during the day.
You're going to brush your teeth every day, hopefully, right? So if you're going to brush your
teeth once or twice a day, I hope twice. But if you're doing that, while you're doing that,
I want you to start to scan from head to toe and just feel into your body potentially for the first time
that day. Are my shoulders all the way at my ears? Okay, whoa.
I think I've been a little bit stressed.
Can I start to move back into my body?
What does my body feel like?
That's step one.
So you just know what your body feels like in general.
Then step two is when you're given an opportunity, an experience, a lane to move towards,
I want you to start to feel into your body and see what that feels like.
Does it feel like expansive?
Do you feel excited to go for that?
Excited to work with this person?
Excited to go on the date, excited to do these things?
Or is there a part of you that feels really constricted?
Like I should do this.
It looks really good on paper.
I should date that person because they look like the right partner, but I'm not feeling it.
We know that.
We know like we go on the date with the perfect person and then we're like, I don't know,
though.
I don't feel that connection.
That's the same with business.
It might look great on paper, but if we don't feel connected to the vision or the next steps,
it's not for you.
It could very well be for someone else.
Give it to someone else, right?
Like let them go for that.
But for you, it's about tuning in and being like, do I feel excited about this?
that's telling you whether you have the life force energy to actually build it.
This is why so many people get burnt out because they're building something they're not excited
about just to make the money.
And then they realize, oh my gosh, I have to do this forever or until I retire.
Like, okay, great.
This sounds awful.
And then they burn it to the ground, right?
Or they, yeah, their hope is they do something else with it.
So the idea is like use your body as a way to tune in when you feel like your mind is like
a cluster of all the thoughts that are happening during the day.
I had a moment, and it wasn't a moment.
And so how I got there is my business was blowing up real time, like watching the fireworks.
And I said, well, I can't control this anymore, right?
It was like that classic, like, image of older cartoons where Tom and Jerry would have, like,
boxes of dynamite everywhere.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This is totally out of my control at this point, right?
They're just going to keep Roman candle blowups, right?
Yeah.
And what I did, and I wish I had you as a friend earlier, I would go to my backyard and I enjoy cigars.
and I would just be quiet.
Yeah.
Every day, I would go take, give or take an hour, maybe two sometimes.
And I told my wife, I was very upfront like, I got to figure some things out.
Yeah.
It's just going south, right?
Like it's not working.
After 15, at this point, 17 years of doing this, it's not working.
And I don't know if I was doing the same thing you're advising right now.
I wish I knew you then, but I would definitely was listening, but quietly.
Yes.
I wasn't praying in the sense of God, please help.
I was just listening.
Yes.
And it just slowly started to get very clear.
Now, meanwhile, I'm still going through the shit, the messy middle, right?
Mm-hmm.
I couldn't be happier now, like all the different things.
Now, this is me now.
So I wish I had this advice.
And you yourself had a very big personal issue.
What were you doing during those times?
if you want to divulge some of this, I know it's personal, to get through that.
Because I think you saw something very similar that I saw.
Yeah.
There was so much that I moved through.
So to just share, there was a period of time for a year and a half where I had four back-to-back
miscarriages, which was very strange because I had, I already had a baby, Earthside.
He was five years old.
Well, at the time he was younger, but he's five now.
And I kept having these back-to-back miscarriages.
And I'm like, what is happening?
And doctors couldn't tell me.
They're like, you look great.
And I'm like, I don't feel fucking great.
Like, what is happening?
Like, give me tests.
Give me answers.
I hate you.
What's happening?
So I started to be like, I need to really get quiet, like you said.
And I need to heal myself through whatever.
All this trauma that's coming forward.
I had to move some really big energy because I was in such devastation.
It was like I was on my knees like at some point like, like honestly, it was kind of crazy.
I went from like different stages of the grief.
it was like, please dear God, help me to fuck you God, like what is happening.
Like, it was like what it, you know, and I just went there.
And honestly, God can handle it.
God is good.
God can handle us all sides of ourselves.
Like, if you need to flip off, God, do it.
Like, it's all right.
But honestly, literally.
Literally.
Because sometimes that is a somatic release that we need from the body because we're
holding so much grief, so much anger, so much lack of clarity.
And with that, we need to be able to somatically remove some really,
big energy we're holding onto that's actually creating space for the thing we're calling in.
So I always say like when we have a vision for something that we want, our current capacity
to hold that thing is a plate. Like we've got a plate that we can put food on, right? Like it's like,
this will hold this and two side dishes, chicken and two side dishes, right? The thing that I want
is bigger. I need a platter. I need to like put an entire turkey on there for the Thanksgiving feast.
I need to be able to put all of this on my plate. My capacity to hold that.
vision is not big enough. So I'm going to be tested and stretched so that I can expand into the
capacity that can hold the bigger vision. And so what I was realizing was I'm being stretched
right now. I'm being taken to edges of myself. I didn't even know existed. I don't know what to do
here. I need support. I need support from like my angels and guides. I need support from God. I need
support on this earthly realm. Like who do I lean into? And so what I was doing was similar to you
where I would go into these moments of just being quiet and still.
And I remember being in a breathwork experience.
And as I'm in breathwork, all of a sudden it just dropped in.
And it was very clear.
So this is what happens when you go from body to then knowing I'm available for a download to.
Like my mind is more clear.
I can tell the difference between my ego talking and now it's my intuition.
And I got this download that was like, go on Instagram.
I'm like, I'm in the middle of breathwork.
What's happening?
It was like type in Dallas, OBGYN.
And so I do and I find this woman who's like,
a unicorn. And I'm thinking, okay, I want to work with her. She seems great. She's like, I give out my
cell number because it helped my one of my clients might have died if I did. And I'm like, I want to know
my doctor's cell number. That's awesome. So I messaged her. She's like, oh, I'm not at OB
anymore, but like what, what do you need? Who are you looking for? So I tell her all these things that I
want my unicorn woman. She sends me on this way to this woman. And my first appointment with this
doctor was unlike any of the other appointments that I had with any of my other doctor. She's like,
have you done this? Have you done that? Let's try this. Why don't we do that? And I'm like,
what? And it was like, I realized the answers were all around me. I wasn't ready to receive them
until I had done all of that healing work. I wasn't ready for it yet. And it blew my mind to suddenly
realize, oh my gosh, the answers were literally within arm's reach. My older sister had the answer.
And I didn't realize that until I had gone through all of this devastation to get to the other side
and be like, now I'm ready to receive.
Receive the information, receive the pregnancy that stuck, and receive the baby.
And it was just a wild ride in the middle, but I'm telling you I needed all of that to be able to hold this fucking blessing that is my son.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, well, first of all, congratulations, of course.
But why that matters to the listener, because not everyone's women and maybe not understanding that the side that we're going towards is because in business and in life,
if you hold the energy for ego purposes for yourself and you just brought up something i firmly believe in right
there's the the story of like the fisherman who catches these smaller fish and throws out the bigger fish
and someone asks him why do you always throw out the big fish and keep the small fish and he says because
i only have a nine inch pan so he has this big beautiful bass but can't even do anything with it because
his pan is so small to cook it he can't cook it exactly his person isn't his pan isn't to the size that he needs your
platter wasn't the size you need it to be to be able to hold all of this. And I believe that.
And I think I was in that nine inch pan world where I wasn't yet ready for where I wanted to go
and I was doing it for ego. And I think there's a lot of us in the space of business that we do
it for pride and ego to show people that we can and look how good we are. Maybe we have mommy and daddy
issues from childhood, which I for sure do. I want to go say, look at me. I did it. Look how bad that
I came out of that scenario and look,
that gives me a nine inch pan because it doesn't allow me to grow
because I'm not doing it for the growth of it, right?
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
And so the reason why it's so important is because you actually,
speaking off camera, during all this, your business grew.
Right.
It doubled.
Now, most people would think your business goes to hell in a handcart.
Most people's businesses do completely implode, explode when they personally go through the
shit, right?
The messy middle, like I'm at 45 years old, I'm for sure in the messy middle of pure chaos
between raising kids, family members getting older, like trying to deal with both sides of that
equilibrium, trying to build something from my own family, right? It's wild, right? But when you
are going through something personally, most of the businesses explode because the energy
gets focused on the catastrophic issue that you had, right? Or four of them.
specifically, how did you contain the energy to build your business or become more profitable
or grow it during that energetic suck?
So I believe more is more is more, meaning when I'm expanding my capacity to be able to
hold this second baby, I was expanding my capacity to be able to hold the bigger vision,
the bigger business.
I was becoming the woman that could have the second baby and build the business and
simultaneously build it in a way that was more in alignment with my soul. And so what was fun is as I
started to really tune into, what is it that I want to build? How do I want to build it? I wasn't
even launching anything new. It was like I was calibrating to new price points. I was starting to
really connect to my my worth where I was like, wait, like I get to charge more for my services.
This makes so much more sense. And so when I, as I was doing it, I started realizing like, I can spend
more time focusing on my health, focusing on this baby and love what I do so that when I'm
showing up, I am in my full power to support the women that I'm supporting and the men that I'm
supporting. It was just like so much fun to witness how as my capacity expanded as the CEO that I am,
I was like, and the mother that I am, it was like, oh my gosh, I can actually start to do it all.
But what was beautiful was as I was healing, it felt like I was healing all parts of myself,
where it was like what I needed to, I mean, it's all a reflection, right? How we do one thing
is often how we're doing something very similar, but different, right? So it's this,
of like as I'm healing this, it's healing this and it's healing this. And so it's really powerful
to know that as I'm expanding, I'm going to expand in all ways. And I also really love this idea
anytime I feel like stuff is just imploding. Anytime I feel like things are just going to
shit, I start to really tune into the law of polarity. And I'm like, you know what? The exact
opposite is also true and is coming for me now. So when things are total chaos, I'm like,
the equal amount on the opposite end of the spectrum is coming to me right now. So I actually really
celebrate when it feels like there's chaos happening because I'm like, awesome. Something really good is
on its way right now. And so I start to really like that has been my reframe over and over again. And that's
how I get through these like difficult seasons where I'm like, this is about to be the best freaking day
of my life. Or this is about to be the biggest quantum leap in my business. Or I'm about to have
the most precious angel baby that I could have ever imagined. I'm so grateful. It didn't work out
the other four times. I cannot imagine my life without Robert. Thank God. I waited. Thank God.
God had a bigger plan. So it's this idea of like when we can really say like the exact opposite is
also true and 10 times better. I actually love trying that on when I'm in the chaos. I'm like,
oh, shit's about to get juicy. How do you tactically do that, practically do that? How do you have
the steadfast belief while you're eating a massive shit sandwich in the middle. Yeah, I love it.
I say, God, once I'm done with this shit sandwich, I'm going to be eating a bar of gold or whatever
the, you know, whatever the thing is. How do you believe that when you're literally only seeing,
feeling, hearing the shit sandwich? You have to give shit sandwich a moment to breathe, right?
Like you have to, instead of just saying, oh, the bar of gold is coming. That's where I believe
we're trying to spiritually bypass things where it's like we're in the total shit storm and we're
like, but everything is wonderful. That does not feel natural to go from one end of the spectrum
to the other end of the spectrum. We have to neutralize what we're experiencing first. So how do I
get myself into the middle? For me, I use this exercise and I use a million exercises because that's
like my favorite thing to do is support people in moving big energy and I use my intuition to say,
all right, here's what's coming through and how we're going to move it. So I always collect modalities on
how to move the energy. And it's an intuitive process. But one of the things that I channeled was
this thing that I call the alter ego. And what I mean by that is it's alter with an A. So how can you
put your ego on the altar for a minute and let him or her have a moment to just say all the
fears, all the things that like is moving through his or her mind, like give that version of you a
moment. Here she holds all the keys. They're literally going to tell you what's blocking you from
receiving the thing that you want. So we all have this inner child that wants to be seen and heard.
We all have this inner teen that wants to be seen and heard. So when we're in the chaos,
they get really loud, but we oftentimes don't listen. And we're like, oh, let me just find
like the happy, happy side of it. And how, if we have kids, how big does that tantrum get
when we're ignoring them all together? It gets louder, right? Like, they're going to chase you.
They're going to be hanging on to your ankles. Like, they need you, they need a moment. They need you
to just listen to them. So what I do is I close my eyes and I imagine that version of me just sitting
on an altar and I for me I give her the stand. I'm like, what do you have to say about all of this?
She's like, I'm freaking the fuck out. Like I'm like, this is bad. And I let her just roll with it. I give
her the stand. And as that's happening, I notice how her energy is starting to soften. It's like suddenly
she feels seen in her for the first time and who knows how long forever. Right? Because maybe my parents didn't
have the capacity to hold space for the big tantrum, but I do. So I give her that minute to move it,
to move it, to move it. And then at some point, I'm starting to either reparent her through that.
I'm holding space for her through that. I'm like, that seems really hard. That seems really difficult.
And I walk through that whole exercise of just first and foremost, if we can give that part of
ourselves the stand, let them have a moment, you would be shocked at how much you notice your
body soften, how much you realize it's not energetically holding you in that space anymore.
We were like, whoa, the chaos doesn't feel that bad anymore.
It just felt really loud because he or she was shouting and I wasn't paying attention.
So she's going to keep shouting.
Once she feels seen and heard, she's good.
And then she's like, all right, never mind.
Let's roll.
Let's jump in the car together.
Let's drive towards the thing we want to do.
And then we get back into inspired action.
Yeah.
And so let's talk about time.
Yeah.
I have a rule.
Well, I have six.
Nice.
There's six laws of success.
And this is life, marriage, anything.
The sixth law, I believe, is if you remove your time expectation on the result, you can actually
get the result. But most people give up, right? They're like, oh, I should be here already. I quit.
Or I should be rich already. Or I should be through the shit storm. Or I should be. And then that,
that energy starts to become the predominant like, oh, fuck this. I'm moving on. I'm changing businesses.
I'm changing wives. I'm changing everything because they have this fake time expectation.
and when they're supposed to get through the shitstorm
or be at the top of the mountain
or make the money they want to make.
And so they just blow it all up.
How long, going what you just said,
how long should someone sit in that
to allow the person to be on the altar,
to live with that, to hear that, to let it,
is that a quick thing?
Is that a, this could take 30, 60, 90 days?
This could take three years.
What are proper understanding of how long this could be?
I love it.
So I think the more that you do it, the faster it goes.
Goes, yeah.
You know, like if this is the first time you've ever let your inner child come out,
she might have a lot to say.
Or he might be like, hey, motherfucker.
Like, it's been a while.
Let's chat, you know.
So that might take a while, you know.
But what's beautiful is for me, anytime I've ever done it,
regardless of when I've kind of stepped into it, 30 minutes.
Give yourself 30 minutes.
Just let them.
How long does a tantrum last?
Think about your children.
That's probably the extension.
to which that will last.
Sometimes it's a while.
Sometimes they're one and done.
And they're like, all right, you just gave me the wrong bowl.
Give me the other one.
And then we moved on, right?
But it's this idea of knowing, take the time expectation out of it.
You're going to intuitively know when it feels like they've been heard and listened to.
They're going to, your body's going to soften.
There's going to be nothing left.
And at some point, what I do at the end of the experience is I like to watch that version of me come off the
altar and give her a hug and the two of us just become one where it's like now we're moving forward
now she feels seen and heard and held she just needed a moment and she feels held now let's move
forward so it's not something I believe should take 90 days at all um but I believe will continue to
have things come up over and over and over again differently so it's kind of like we could learn the lesson
but there's a deeper integration put her on the altar again what does she have to say this time
So does that make sense where I don't think the same thing should probably take 90 days?
Well, what I'm also hearing and I hope everyone else is hearing is the visualization, right?
Yes.
What should people be doing to do this practice?
So what I did, and I'll tell you to get through my storm was sat outside, smoked cigar, but I would with intention not think.
Yeah.
Now, while smoking a cigar, I'd have my eyes open and I live in Miami in my backyard.
It's beautiful.
So I would be able to just zone out.
Yeah.
Talk to us about your belief or your strategy for visualization because I think a lot of people
think that's just woo-woo shit like wishful thinking and you know you visualize yourself rich.
Well, you're not going to get there.
So talk to us about that component.
How powerful is that visualization?
So I want people to start to tune into when you're visualizing something, you have a felt
sensation in your body.
When you let yourself really go there.
Like when you're not just doing it out of obligatory energy, anything that we do out of obligatory
energy will not work for you. Everything is a neutral prop. How are you choosing to intentionally use
a neutral prop? Are you going to let it work for you? That's number one. You have to choose to let it
work for you. The second one is if I'm choosing to let this work for me, I'm going to go all in. I'm
really going to picture myself and what it feels like to have X, Y, and Z, the thing that I really
desire. And now how does that feel in my mind, body, and spirit? Like, let me start to bring my senses
into this. Like what am I seeing? What am I tasting? What am I smelling? What am I feeling? Am I excited?
Am I witnessing myself? Walk through a room. Stepping on the stage, writing the book, bringing my
business to next level of income. Like, what does that feel like in my body? And when I start to notice
that it's feeling really good, realize that that energy is a felt sensation by the person in front of you,
by the person across the world. When we get on the phone with someone, we feel their energy.
when we walk into a room, we're like, that person is in a fabulous mood. I'm feeling
attracted to that person. That person feels like they are so angry right now. I don't think I want
to talk to that person right now. So when we can start to change our energy through a tool,
a neutral tool, but if we choose into it like visualization, notice how that shifts the way that
you're walking into a room. Suddenly people are like, he or she seems really nice. I'd like to talk to
them. And then you're more present. You're in this moment. You're tuned into their energy. And do
I want to talk to that person or does that person seem like I really don't want to talk to that
person?
We can feel that, right?
And so the goal is if I can start to feel that felt sensation in my body, someone else is too.
And so that is going to attract in people, opportunities, experiences, because we're kind of
operating on a same wavelength, right?
Like people say like attracts like, all these woo-woo statements, but it's all about how do I
feel?
When I'm feeling good, I'm attracting other people that are feeling good.
And then we're kind of collaborating from there.
And all of a sudden these ideas come out of nowhere because we're just operating in that space.
And when you're feeling bad, you know, listen, as a father, I'll have no understanding of what you went through personally, right, having miscarriages.
When you're in that, and I can only imagine, but yet you were able to expand your pan or plate you well with your business and actually create more money.
How do you do that?
Like, how do you focus on your business when you are literally in it to be able to either strip
away the things that are unnecessary because you don't have the ability to, which creates
potentially even more money because you're reducing operational bloat?
Or how do you create the energy to be in the dumps but have enough positive energy to go
build the business to double your revenue?
I didn't make that my sole identity.
I knew that no matter what this baby was coming, regardless of what doctors were saying,
regardless of what other people were saying.
And what I did was because of experiencing these really awful moments, it made me so much
more grateful for the things that were going well, for my son that was already here.
I was like, I knew you were a miracle, but you are a freaking miracle.
Like I was looking at my son and just like, looking at him like, oh, my.
my God, you know, it's like I looked at him with brand new eyes because of what I went through.
And my business, I am in love with what I do for a living. So being with my clients was like all
the sudden like, wow, I love what I do. It was like this beautiful even distraction sometimes
from all of the noise. And I loved being able to go into something that made me feel so good
to see the positive impact on other people. And so for me, it was about not ignoring what I was
experiencing. I spent time, a lot of time, healing what was coming up for me because I knew I needed
it to. And then with that, through all the healing that I moved through, which was so many things
and I think back, but all the healing modalities I moved through, it also gave me so much
gratitude for what I had that was going well. And I really focused so much of my energy on that
as well. And that for me was the exact, almost like life force energy I needed to keep building,
to keep moving, to keep moving forward. There's, and I don't remember who said it or the
saying, but something about like, it's easier for the human person. Like, we are just always
attracted to the hard stuff, the negative stuff, the things that are going bad. That's what we
think about. That's what we remember. But then very seldomly do we appreciate the things that are
actually going good or remember the things that actually went well. How do you keep in that energy
of being present in the positive side of things? Because I think it's human nature to think about
like, oh, look at all the shit blowing up around me. And that's all we can see here and feel.
But if you actually got very present, you're doing this amazing work of X, Y, and Z, or more clients
are coming in or whatever the thing.
How do you shift that?
Because you can't ignore it.
Like no one's going to say, well, you just ignore the negative stuff.
And you only, that's just not real.
Yeah.
So there's many different ways to actually shift that.
I will say, I always reframe what I'm moving through saying like, what is this setting me up
towards though. Like I will say like there's something to be said about a slingshot.
Like we will be pulled backwards before we are propelled forward. So again, when I'm being
pulled backwards, I'm actually consistently kind of looking for, what is this setting me up for?
Because the version of me that was here, like again, with the plate, didn't have the capacity to
hold the bigger vision. So I always say like, this is a slingshot moment. I'm being pulled backwards
to be able to be pulled forwards. But I would say like tactically, what did I do to get more present?
I would say one, first of all, the brain, here's the beautiful thing about our brain.
Our brain is there to create or to solve problems.
So what it does is it starts to actually create problems to solve, right?
Like it's doing its job.
It's there to actually say like, I want to be able to figure out this problem.
So what I always say is for me, the brain gets to be the humble servant to my heart.
What is my heart desiring right now?
How can I start to get more in tune with my heart, what I love, what I love to do?
And for people, it could be something as simple as like a gratitude practice.
I know it sounds really simple, but I did that for like countless days.
I think my app is at like 200 days because I downloaded an app to do it now.
But you could write it down.
And it's just about starting to take a look at what are the things that are working out in my world.
And what you're doing is you're collecting evidence that not everything is fucking terrible.
Right.
Like collect the evidence that there's actually good things that are happening in your life.
And that's going to have you start to look for those, not just in the
the gratitude practice, but as an everyday thing where it's like when someone tells you,
don't look for the yellow car, all of a sudden you're like, or look for the yellow car,
you see yellow cars everywhere.
So when I'm saying look for the gratitude in the morning for 10 minutes, I'm starting to
see gratitude throughout the day, all day, regardless of whether or not I'm actually consciously
aware of it.
There's a, I'm looking for it.
I think it's out in my living room because every morning I do a very similar thing.
And it's a five, it's called a five minute journal.
Get on Amazon.
Exactly.
Nothing proprietary, but literally part of the practice every morning.
is give three things that you're grateful for.
Yep.
And then at night, it says, what were the three highlights of your day?
So it's literally putting you through a practice of like, what are the things you are
grateful for and what were the good things that went on?
And so I love that advice because I think this is advice holistically for would be for
everyone.
I want to dive a little bit.
I want to change frame here for a second on you.
You have something pretty special coming up, don't you?
Yeah.
Yes.
I have something called calibration keys.
that is all about how to get from the thing that you know you came here to build
to it actually being in your 3D reality.
And what do you do with the messy middle?
Like how do you move yourself through that?
Because again, we see it.
And then all the question marks,
our brain starts working really hard to say,
how is that possible?
I'm not good enough.
Remember when dad said,
remember when mom's.
And so it's interesting because it's like we're peeking over into a different timeline,
into a different space where we have this feeling,
I'm meant to do that. I'm meant to be on that stage. I'm meant to create this or bring this
revenue in and whatever that is. We see it. And then what do we do with the middle? Like we have this
sense of knowing that we're supposed to have it. It's like the baby. It's like the business. It's all
the things that we know we're supposed to have. How do you walk yourself through that journey?
And so all of that, I realize there are seven calibrations that we have to do in order to actually
bring that thing into fruition. And it's not about spiritually bypassing. It's about
showing up for the version of us that actually needs to be seen and heard and held through that
scary, messy middle. Because we love to say, never mind, I'm just going to stay comfortable,
actually. Absolutely. Yeah, it's like so much easier to say, maybe that goal is just actually
for someone else, or let's go for something a little smaller, maybe it wasn't meant to be that.
How do you break through that? And that's quite literally what we're walking you through or what
I'm walking you through is all of a sudden it was like, I realized I had been doing this all along
when I was doubling my revenue, when I manifested my baby, when all of a sudden, like,
he came to fruition and he was here. It was like, wow, all of a sudden I realized I had
walked myself through these seven steps. And it's like, it's like when you talk about intuitive
hits, I was in the playroom with Robert, my baby. And all of a sudden, it like dropped in where
it was like, you just calibrated to these seven different things to get you to that space.
And I was like, this isn't even mine. This feels like gods. This feels like the universes.
I have to give this into the collective.
This is the thing that actually made it work for me.
And it's not bypassing every part of it that we need to make it work.
Because so often I think, like, when we think about manifestation, all this stuff,
it's like, just think and grow rich or just think and do that.
It's like, it's not plausible for a lot of us.
We're like, I'm thinking and it's not working.
So how do I get myself to the space where it actually comes to fruition?
That is what I'm teaching people in calibration keys.
I have seen it work on the most miracle things that people say are just not
possible. And I'm like, you're not my person then. And we're going to calibrate to something
different, different people, different experiences. And it's literally what I walked myself through to do
all the things that I have in my life today. Are you able to, does it divulge too much to name all
seven calibrations? So one of the calibrations is the alter ego that we walked through today. So it's
about like we're not bypassing the ego. We have to be in tandem with the ego. Right. So it's this really
important thing about like tuning in and saying like how do I start to like not just say my highest
self is leading it and if I'm feeling out of flow I'm just not moving towards what I want anymore.
It's like there's two people in the car right now. How do we have them dance together? So that is
one of the most important steps is like let's get not only our highest self on board with it.
That's easy. We see the vision. We're like yeah. How do we get our ego on board with it too?
Because we need her or him in the car with us or she's going to be grabbing at the back of the
car saying do not move stay here she's going to be putting a potato in your exhaust pipe and like
something's going to happen so it's this idea of being like i got to work with this person i got to be
able to move towards that thing and so that's a big part of it there's another part that i call
trust the crickets and the reason i call it that is because there's going to be a moment in time
where it feels like it's not working how do you have the holding power through that experience
this is where so many 99% of people give up how can you trust the crickets right now
This is also one of the most fundamentally important parts of the process.
I could have given up a million times with this pregnancy thing.
I could have just been like, never mind, it's not meant to happen.
After one, two, three, four, I could have easily given up.
But I'm like, I am trusting that I know something that these doctors don't know.
And I need to figure that out.
How do you have that sticking power?
That is why so many people see success, but they don't reach the level of success that they see in their mind's eye.
It's one of the fundamentally most important steps.
how do you have the sticking power to actually get to that space?
So why do you call it trust the crickets?
Yeah.
So a lot of people think crickets mean, oh, nothing's happening.
No one's biting.
No one's buying.
Right.
And so what I like to say is when we're in this void, we often think the void means it's not
working, right?
The crickets.
We have to work the void.
This is so important.
We think the void means it's not working.
We have to work the void.
The void is the middle.
It is the black space.
It is the fertile ground where you've literally planted the seeds.
How are we watering it?
How are we tending to it?
How are we believing that that plant is still growing even when we don't see it sprouting yet?
So it's so important that the darkness, the void is quite literally where everything is coming to fruition.
How do you hold yourself through it?
So that's why I call it crickets.
I think it's brilliant just from a framing tactic because I was actually thinking like the chirping, right?
Ignoring the chirping, but I love the crickets.
I say like, oh, it's crickets out there.
like no one's talking.
Right.
Exactly.
I think that's brilliant.
And that is, we have so much in alignment.
And I want, so first of all, if people wanted to do that, where would they go?
Or how could they get a hold of you for that or be a part of that?
Yeah.
So they would just go to Christina Deering slash keys is how you can join that experience.
It is like my gift to the collective.
It's not even mine.
It feels like God dropped it in.
And I'm like, here you go.
Please everyone take it and run with it because it's so life changing.
So that would be a space where they, if they want to join that specifically or if you
want to join that specifically Christina Deering slash keys do you want to do dot com that is it
christina dearing.com forward slash keys yes christina dearing.com slash keys yes i just want to make sure
they're not trying to do it yeah thank you i know let's add the dot com you're right christina deering
dot com slash keys we've only talked about two of the seven i'll tell you right now even the second
one with this cricket i i talk a lot about the commitment and again if i just call it the set i have
six laws and you're talking about seven what what do you frame it us
calibration keys. So what are you calibrating to? There's seven different calibrations. If you can get
all seven of them, the thing you know that is meant to come to fruition has to. It's incredible.
So I almost guarantee your seven and my six are almost directly in alignment because so far we're two for two.
But where I think that how I frame what you're talking about is how do you commit when you're in the
middle, right? So what I believe to be the third law of success is commit to the thing.
So you got to calibrate to what do you actually want?
Then you got to find out who you need to be to get what you actually want.
And then you need to commit to that.
And that's very hard.
I know.
Because for me, you bring it all the way down to my sixth law, which will be remove your time
expectation on when you get what you want.
And it's never set out there.
If you like even what I say and what she's like, you guys got to get there because
it's a different frame with a very similar way to move your business, move your life,
move your relationship.
and when your energy is like this,
and I know I'm just selling her right now
because I firmly believe in this, right?
I went through it.
I had to change my energy.
I had to move what I was doing.
I literally had to let my business explode
for me to recognize my energy
wasn't going in the right direction.
And so my hope is my listeners
and the viewers here are like,
I'm feeling this right now.
Now, I want to end with this
because there's so much uncertainty in the world.
I'm a pretty spiritual guy.
I have my relationship with God,
but in general sense,
I grew up in California and have the, I can go as woo-woo as people want to go, right?
How right now would you advise someone listening to this, watching this,
to deal with so much things that are totally out of control?
It's not in their control at the least, the politics, the economy.
With all this uncertainty, how do they ground their energy or keep themselves from just throwing it all the way?
I mean, we've heard people say this before, but what I always have to remind myself is,
Christina, what can I control first and foremost?
When I think about all the things that are happening in government, all these, like,
can I affect government?
Yes, in some ways, sure, voting, things like that.
But there's other things in my life that I have a direct capacity to put my energy in
life, like put my life force energy towards.
And that is how, let's say, how I'm showing up for my children.
Am I being present with them or am I so fixated on what's happening in the government
that I actually can't even control because I don't have a seat there that I'm not even
present with my kids and how.
they're growing up and whether they feel safe in this world because I'm their whole world right now.
And so when I start putting things in perspective, that allows me to be like, who can I
directly support? Like, who can I be a miracle for today? When I'm like, who is, when, who is
who is kind of pulling my attention that needs support that I can support in this space right now?
And starting to lean in in your own universe first and foremost is going to have a positive
ripple effect on everyone else's universes, right? So it's like, if I can directly impact this
person, think about how that person is now directly impacting that person. And then maybe that person
directly impacts someone who is in government that can make a positive massive shift in the world.
So that would be absolutely a space that our way of kind of reframing that. Something else that I do
that I think is so important for every single person is something that I call a five minute energy reset
because one, we're all busy. Like we've all got stuff to do today. And so I don't believe you need to
sit and meditate for 19 hours a day in order to feel good in your body. Give yourself five minutes.
And what you do with this is essentially you're letting yourself have an energetic shower.
You are cleansing and clearing all of the stuff that is no longer serving you so that someone can
actually say like, wow, I take a shower every day. Why am I not energetically showering every day?
I have picked up everyone else's stories today and it is not serving me.
And how can I release that to start from a clean slate?
So what I'll do, I'll send you a link to that to the five minute energy reset for someone who just wants to be guided through that experience.
But basically what you're doing is you're taking an energetic shower that says like, okay, let me get back to neutral.
Let me ground myself, kind of like what we do when we take our shoes off and step on the earth.
We're grounding ourselves.
But how can I do that if I'm on the 19th floor?
You know, like if I don't have access to take my shoes off and go there, I could literally do this in five minutes anywhere on an airplane, anywhere that I want to do this.
it's going to allow you to reset your energy and be focused and present for your kids,
for your colleagues, for the big business meeting you have coming up.
It's something that I do every single day.
It is my only one non-negotiable every single day.
I like that.
I'm going to have to watch that.
Any listeners, you've got to click the link.
It'll be in the show notes.
And this is great because we all deal with it.
And again, I don't watch the news and all that.
But there's so much that we're not in control of and it drowns people a lot of times, right?
It's the only focus.
and you go, you can't impact that today, but what can you impact?
And your point right there about offering value to others.
Funny, that's been a big idea that's been coming to me through my podcast from yourself
and interviewed Gary V said the same thing.
Jared Glant yesterday.
Everyone's talking about the value offer others what's going to actually move the needle.
So you're in total alignment with that.
Christina Deering is here.
Thank you so much.
This has been incredible.
Now you do have this, I don't want to call it an event.
What will we call this?
It's coming up and I want to make sure if people are interested, they get there.
It's like a three-day live virtual experience.
Okay.
And they go to Christina Deering.com forward slash keys.
Yes.
Love that.
Well, thank you so much.
This has been phenomenal.
Get over to Christina Deering.com forward slash keys.
And if this was helpful, if you actually think people need to be over there with Christina,
please share this with at least.
with at least two of your friends
and we'll see you on the next episode.
Peace.
I love it.
Thank you so much.
This is so much fun.
