Starting point is 00:00:45 It's Monday, June 8th. Chris Himes, my producer, is in another part of the country. I am today in Orlando, Florida. We have so much to share. Now, this is going to be challenging. I'm going to do my best in Orlando. Okay, I'm speaking in a couple of hours. Right after me, Ron DeSantis, Governor DeSantis is speaking.
Starting point is 00:01:10 So I'm going to get a chance to meet with him. I don't think I've ever met him before. But I just want to say, first of all, the headline, President Trump endorsed my Revolution book. Because I've been doing so much media, on the book. It's been getting such, I mean, spectacular reviews. Praise the Lord. Spectacular reviews. Just on Amazon, I've been astonished at what people are saying. It's like, you know, as a writer, it's your dream come true because you want people to say, I can't put the book down. It's the most
Starting point is 00:02:03 readable book. It's the best book I've ever read on the right. You know, that's, of course, what you pray for and hope for. The fact that so many people are saying these things is gratifying to me because I feel like, you know, I want the book to be that good. I worked really hard on it. And I feel like I'm doing a public service that this is to tell the story of how this nation came into being. Tell the story of what happened 250 years ago is important.
Starting point is 00:02:27 And I've said this many times. It's very important. So I wanted to do it justice. And I think it's doing so well that people are having trouble buying it. It is, many people have said to me, I'm going to Barnes and Nobles and they're sold out. That's insane. That the Barnes & Noble is sold out on the book. So if you go to Barnes & Noble and don't find it, feel free to buy one of my other books.
Starting point is 00:02:52 But this book, I guess they didn't buy enough so that it's sold out. And there's been so much media about it that it's kind of going like hotcakes. Hey, Eric, just a quick question. Correct me. If I'm wrong, when people go to... Amazon, though, or maybe I'm thinking now the pre-order, there was a point where they could get, you know, an early edition, maybe through Kindle or something like that. Is that still possible if they can't get the physical book? No, no. If you, well, wait, yes, if you want to order the Kindle, nobody's going to run out of Kindle. If you, if you buy it on Kindle, you know, obviously you can't run out of those. But I'm saying the physical books, we have, we have a stash of them, which we, I'm not going to tell you how to get it yet, because you know, you. you can still get it from all these other places.
Starting point is 00:03:40 But if you desperately want one for Father's Day, in a few days, I will tell you, if it becomes impossible, if Amazon runs out, which I don't think it's going to happen, but if they were to run out, sometimes they post stuff like, we can't get it to you till this date or whatever. I don't think that's true.
Starting point is 00:03:58 I think they do that to protect themselves legally. I think you can get it, even if they tell you that, because I've seen that with other books and other friends. We've had books and stuff. but but uh this week we're going to keep our eyes on it and if it becomes genuinely impossible for you to get online because everybody's out of copies we have some copies which we will make available to you but uh you have to i would uh say please um if if well either follow me on instagram
Starting point is 00:04:28 uh or on x and i will post those kinds of details as they come to us but right now uh it should still be possible for you to get books. But as I said, I've had many friends tell me that they're having trouble. And so I just kind of want to keep you apprised of that. Also, I think, let's see, I know books a million has copies. They're different places. You can get copies. But Barnes & Noble, several friends of, I go into Barnes & Noble and they say they're out. Well, that's bizarre. So I don't know, if you go to Barnes & Noble, yell at them. So I just want to say
Starting point is 00:05:06 all of that is to the good. It means that the book is selling well. I've done a lot of media, an awful lot of media. I was on War Room with Steve Bannon several times. He is flipped out about the book, which, you know, this is one sharp dude. And so the fact that he would be so effusive about the book,
Starting point is 00:05:26 he said he devoured it in two days. And it's the book on the, you know, I'm just telling you when I was writing the book, it was hard. And I was thinking, I just hope that I'm, I'm, you know, faithful to the subject. This is such an important subject. This is the 250th. People need to know the story. And I've made the case many times.
Starting point is 00:05:45 We need to know the story. This is not like, hey, it's a nice book. No, no, no, no, no. Americans need to know this story. And if you're an American, this is not for history buffs. This is for every American. You need to know your story. You're responsible for this information.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So I think my book is the easiest way to get all the information. If you have other ways of getting it, feel free. It's not about my book, but it's about our story. We need to know our story. And we need to know the centrality of God's hand in the story. We need to know the centrality of the scripture in the story. And we need to know that almost all of the principal figures understood that this was a God thing, that this is a biblical thing they're doing.
Starting point is 00:06:27 They're creating a nation. based on God's principles, based on the idea that we can govern ourselves by putting ourselves under God, not under king, but under a heavenly king. All of that is true, and that has been pushed out of the narrative over the decades. And in my research, it became crystal clear to me that this is history. This is not Christian history. This is American history, and we need to know it. So I do feel strongly about it, and I hope it becomes the book, you know, for people, especially in this 250th year. This is like, hey, this is our story.
Starting point is 00:07:02 This is what we're celebrating this year. That's what we're celebrating is the merge into history of a new kind of nation that never existed before. So there you go. This is the book. I was sitting, you know, I had the privilege to be at the Socrates book launch event in New York on, what was it? The second, June 2nd. June 2nd. And I was sitting back to your editor from Skyhorse, Tony Lyons.
Starting point is 00:07:27 And I said to him, not that he needs a pitch for me, but I think it's very simple. I really, and again, like, I don't, you know, if I wasn't working for you, it's not because I'm your producer. I genuinely mean this. I think this is the book for America 250. I think this is the book. And it's not, you know, obviously there's no official tie to whatever the U.S.
Starting point is 00:07:48 government's doing, but it would behoove them to promote. And they have, I think Trump realized it too. It's like, this is the book. And I think it's kind of like when you're watching a horse race and you see a lot of other, you know, we've had people on that are doing books around this. You know, Cynthia Scott sent us a text the other day when she saw how well our book was doing. She had a book out that's done well. And other people are all doing books because it's happening.
Starting point is 00:08:12 But this is truly, I think, the book for America 250. So if you want to really understand and appreciate what we have in America and you want to share that in a way that's, that's, that's, readable. It was funny. I saw the interview you did with Dan, and you were being very, you both were being very kind, but it was sort of like, you know, what do you tell somebody who maybe isn't such so good with words, you know, and it might be daunting for them to, you know, try to attempt a 600-page book, you know, or somebody who's maybe a little dim, you know, it's like, you can read this book, but not only can you read this book, think of it like medicine, you know, right? Think of it.
Starting point is 00:08:55 It's like something. Take your steak in medicine. That's right. Stop complaining. Do your push-ups, eat your vegetables. Snap out of it. So I think even that was a good way to frame it. I feel like every American has a duty.
Starting point is 00:09:06 And the idea that, I mean, look, I don't write books that are not readable. I mean, I really matters to me that they're readable. And maybe there's a page or two that you're going to struggle through, but you're going to get through those and you're going to find a crazy, funny story or whatever. I mean, the narrative overall is a fascinating. narrative. But I do say this that I feel like this is an assignment like for Americans. And actually, let me say this. Before I get to President Trump's, I want to read what President Trump said about the book, but Socrates in the city, we have done 13 interviews. I have done at Socrates and City. 13, Chris, I can hear you typing, 13 interviews with revolutionary
Starting point is 00:09:52 scholars. Notice the people whose books that I read to write my book, I said, I want to do interviews with them to get an in-depth thing because their books are so helpful and you should read their books after you read my book. You probably, most people want to read more and these are, you know, so if you go to Socrates and the city.com, if you sign up, you know, for the weekly email or whatever it is, every week we're going to send out or you can just go to the YouTube page. But honestly, these are great interviews. These are a lot of interviews that we've done. and we're going to release them once a week with Revolutionary Scholars. So you can get more in-depth or whatever, and it's different than reading.
Starting point is 00:10:28 And I also say, if you're having trouble ordering the book or you're not a great reader, you can get the audiobook, which is obviously me reading the audio book. I still, I just got to say this, though, Chris. I really would dream that this book could be number one on the New York Times bestseller list. not because I like the New York Times. I hate the New York Times. But in the mainstream, that matters. If you want to reach people that you're not going to reach
Starting point is 00:11:01 by getting on the New York Times list at all, much less at the top of the list, which is possible for this book because it's been doing that well, that pushes mainstream folks to carry the book. That will push Barnes & Noble to carry the book, more copies. That would push airport bookstores to carry the book.
Starting point is 00:11:19 that would be significant, which is why I'm saying today, Monday, June 8th, today is the last day of the first week of this book launch. So if you're ever going to order the book, the hardcover, wherever you order it from, I ask you, please order it today. This is the last day for the first week. The first week is the most important week. it is it just i cannot stress it enough because i know i've lived through this for years that if you make it onto the new york times list or if you make it especially as the new york
Starting point is 00:11:58 number one on the list i i believe my book conceivably could be number one on the list if the new york times is honest and we'll see about that but um jill biden's book came out at the same time obviously she's done the view she's they've been pushing that the new york times has been pushing it like crazy, this terrible book. I can't even want to talk about it. But the fact is that it really matters that this story, that this version of the story get out into the mainstream. This is not, again, it's not a Christian conservative book.
Starting point is 00:12:29 It's a book that's true. But the mainstream doesn't like things that come from people like me and they tend not to want to carry it. They just, they prefer to basically suppress it. It's not censorship, but it is suppression. They just don't like it. They don't like what I'm saying. And again, what I'm saying is true.
Starting point is 00:12:51 This is, I'm saying it because it's true, not because it appeals to me. It's just true. And it's beautiful. And we've been keeping this information from Americans. It's been hidden. If you watch the PBS Ken Burns thing, you're not going to hear any of this stuff. That I mean, at the heart of my book, the centrality of God in this, that's completely true. And it is, they act as if it's,
Starting point is 00:13:13 It's absolutely not true or not relevant. And so they keep it out. They don't like that narrative. And so I feel like getting this book into the mainstream is actually very important. So anything you can do to help, obviously buying the hardcover, you know, whether via Amazon or any place, it really does matter today, today. So I ask you to do that. Also, I do want to share.
Starting point is 00:13:37 So President Trump on X, I'm sorry, on Truth Social, he posted this. and I posted it on X and other places. But I'm already laughing. This is what President Trump writes. He says, Eric Metaxis, a great guy. He's a great guy. I just, but it's so funny. Eric Mattaxas, comma, a great guy, comma,
Starting point is 00:14:06 I'm laughing, has written an incredible new book, Revolution, The Birth of the Greatest Nation, in the history of the world, As we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday, Eric honors the faith, wisdom, and courage of the great patriots who sacrifice so much to secure our independence. These stories of our shared past inspire us to build a future bigger, greater, and stronger than ever before.
Starting point is 00:14:30 The best is yet to come, all caps. Get your copy today, Amazon.com slash revolution, birth to the greatest. I mean, I agree with what he's saying when he says, these stories of our shared past inspire us to build a future bigger, greater, and stronger than ever before. That's why I feel this book is important. And again, this is in retrospect. It's not particularly why I wrote the book. I just said, you know, we need to know our story. But the more I think about it, the more I feel like this inspires us to go forward. This is not a small thing. This is a very
Starting point is 00:15:03 important thing. And it inspires us to go forward. And that is necessary right now. And I think I've said this before that, well, I know I've said that we're in the third existential crisis of our history, but what I maybe have said, or maybe not, is that during the second existential crisis, right before the Civil War, Henry Wazworth Longfellow in his poem, Paul Revere's Ride, points back to 1775. He points back to the first existential crisis that that spirit, that we need to have that spirit now in 1860 as we face what are facing. And in writing my book, I feel like I'm doing a similar thing in pointing back to to that first existential crisis. We need to remind ourselves over and over and over and over of who these people were, of the courage that they showed,
Starting point is 00:15:57 of what they believed, why they believed it. Is it true or false these ideas? Why did Britain not understand this? I mean, it really is important. And so, um, We don't even know, most people don't even know what they don't even know, you know, like the things that have been forgotten. And I didn't even know that. So that shows you. Yeah, I know. I mean, that's sort of my, I know it's sort of being silly,
Starting point is 00:16:20 but like there are things that you discovered, you know, when you were doing your research that were, you were, they were so, you were so shocked and upset that you didn't even know these things. You're like, well, I need to put, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:32 definitely need to put them in a book. It happens to be with every book. Like, I find stuff and I think, how has this been kept from us? And I get angry. And it's like, now I got a whole world. This is, you know, now I, there's a few things like I got to say,
Starting point is 00:16:44 say, a few more things, actually, that I have to say. This is just crazy. Let me first of all say, the other day I talked to Woody Allen had a conversation with Woody Allen. I don't think I've told you Chris Heimes about this. No, you did not. I'm just doing this to tease you. So you're going to bring me back to the conversation with Woody Allen. I'm not kidding. I did. I had a conversation with him. Probably the longest conversation I've ever had with them or close to it. So I want to talk about that. But I want to say, first of all, I am today in Orlando. I'm speaking shortly, actually. Yesterday I preached in the Woodlands near Houston at Woodlands Grace Church,
Starting point is 00:17:26 which is one of the great churches, folks. Steve Riggle is the pastor there. There's not a lot of churches like this. This is a great church, Grace Church, in the Woodlands, Pastor Steve Riggle. So I preached there twice yesterday, signed a ton of books, met all these wonderful people, some friends from the area that I haven't seen were there, was just a blessing. I then flew to Orlando where I am today.
Starting point is 00:17:48 I was speaking shortly with Governor DeSantis. I will be flying from here later today to Phoenix. Tomorrow night, I'm speaking this Tuesday night, tomorrow the 9th. I'm speaking in Mark Driscoll's Church in Phoenix or Scottsdale, whatever next to Phoenix. That's tomorrow night. Then I'm flying to Colorado. I think it's a private event in Colorado. On my website, it's not like popping up.
Starting point is 00:18:12 Like, I don't know if it's kind of closed, but I'm speaking Colorado Springs. After that, I'm flying to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ladies and gentlemen, that is a free event. If you have any friends in the Idaho Falls area, it is, is it Friday? I think it's Friday. And I'm speaking in Idaho Falls.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I got to tell you, it's a free event, and it's going to be an amazing event. They've got tons of books there. You know, all these events, by the way, if you want a book, a sign book, you've got to go to the event. And obviously, I'm there to sign books. Every event, I will stay there as long as anybody wants to sign book. So Idaho Falls, Idaho. From there, I go to Orange County, California, where I'm speaking in Greg Lurie's Church, Calvary, in Irvine and in Riverside.
Starting point is 00:18:58 And then I'm doing a podcast with him. So all these places you can get books. They've already pre-ordered the book. They've got the books. And I'm going to be signing the books. I'm very excited. Folks, before we go, I want to recommend to you in case you want to do something crazy and beautiful. We are doing another campaign with our friends at CSI.
Starting point is 00:19:17 These folks are heroes. If you want to free a slave, literally, this is what CSI does. Every $250 sets one captive free and puts them into a life of freedom, sets them up. This is important. Help us do this. Go to ericmetaxis.com. Click on the banner. Couldn't be easier.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Please go to Ericmetaxis.com. Click on the banner. Very important. I just decided I want to write a book on the American Revolution because this is extremely important. Unless Americans know our story, we cannot possibly continue to keep the Republic. I will be going to Washington State at the end of next week. So not this week, but the end of next week, I will be in Washington State Friday night. I'm speaking at FreedomCon, 26.
Starting point is 00:20:22 And that is our new friend Josh McPherson. There's no fear in McPherson. There's no fear in McPherson. And it is happening in Washington State. It looks like an amazing lineup of guys there. It's outrageous. It's like almost a dozen and a half really amazing. amazing speakers.
Starting point is 00:20:44 It's, it's, it's a who's, of the he man, woman haters club. Just kidding. How do you get into that club? It's all the,
Starting point is 00:20:51 all the manly men and then Eric with his, with his, with his, a polo. I think on the poster, you're definitely the only person, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:59 with the tie and blazer on, for sure. And horn room glasses. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All the other guys are straight,
Starting point is 00:21:07 they're camo. You can't even see him on the poster because it's all camo. It's just like, that's true. It's just a seven. of Afghanistan. You just can't see anybody.
Starting point is 00:21:15 So, no, but it's, I think I'm the only one's going to be there who's not packing. But the fact of the matter is that's happening in George. Well, that's not fair. I'm sorry, I know you're trying to finish the plug. But to be fair, you know, people say, you know, you registered hands as a deadly weapon, but your brain is a weapon. You know, use your mind. Your intellect is very sharp.
Starting point is 00:21:35 And it can really poke people. My brain in concert with a gun and perhaps some type of club could be very, very, very effective. Maybe sand from the ground in the person's eyes. Yeah, you throw sand in the eyes and then you get out of there. So the bottom line is I'm speaking in George, comma, Washington. So it's at a place called George. The town is George.
Starting point is 00:21:59 And it's in Washington state. So it's George, comma, Washington. And the name of the amphitheater is The Gorge. So it's a little confusing. But you just want to go to Freedom Con 26. If you're a dude, you need to try to get there. This is going to be a big deal. I mean, Chad Robes Show, I was just with him.
Starting point is 00:22:16 He was actually at the service yesterday where I spoke. I came to Houston originally because of him to do his podcast. Chad Robes Show, one of the heroes, folks, one of the great heroes. He will be there. There's so many wonderful people that are going to be there. I mean, it's exciting. So I'm one of the first speakers. Then I got to go to a wedding in Colorado.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Then I go to London because the, The ARC conference is happening in London. So I'm missing all kinds of stuff because I'm going to be in London. I'm missing my own birthday. I'm missing my mom's birthday. I was invited to the White House. I'm missing that. I was invited to the White House because President Trump and I were going to have this kind of thing
Starting point is 00:22:57 where we get, you know, like couples massage and the tanning lamps and stuff. We had that planned out. Now I can't do it. But also I was supposed to be at the White House more seriously. to present the president as a member of the Religious Liberty Commission to present him with our report, which is finally done. And I think that is June 25th. I will still be in London at this ARC conference.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Now, ARC is an amazing, it's an amazing thing. We started by Jordan Peterson and some others, and it's a conservative European England kind of conference. So I was there last year. This year I'm a speaker, so I'm doing that. And then from that, I don't even get to fly home from that. I fly straight to Houston, back to Houston to speak at Second Baptist Church. This will be June 28th the day after my birthday, Second Baptist Church in Houston.
Starting point is 00:23:53 And then I'm going to take a dirt nap. It's over. Please don't do. You know, it'll be, we have to record more shows, Eric. If you take a dirt nap, it'll be hard. The mic won't be able to reach some of that. That would be so tough. Well, okay.
Starting point is 00:24:07 So a few other things to share hot off the presses. I got a report the other day, and some of you, you follow me in X. You saw this. My sweet friend Dennis Prager is, he's in danger. He's in a hospital. Some real problems. Nomania, it's not good. So I ask you, brothers and sisters, pray that Dennis is miraculously healed.
Starting point is 00:24:37 please if you pray please pray for Dennis Prager please the man is such a treasure I was with him a few weeks ago when we were down in Florida I love that man I love him he is just just an absolute treasure and he was doing so well all things considered that it was hard to hear that he's in the hospital and he's he's really struggling right now this is not good so please pray for Dennis please pray for him in Jesus name I wanted to share a few other things, Chris, there was a review sent to me. Some of you know Dr. Peter Malone.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Dr. Peter Malone is a big Maha guy. He was very brave on the vaccines and whatever. He wrote a review of my Revolution book that, I haven't mentioned this, have I don't think I mentioned this. No, you haven't. And I believe it was on his substap, which he sent out to all of his followers.
Starting point is 00:25:33 So he's got a big following. So it was very generous of him. It was such a big deal. He has 1.3 million followers on X. And the review that he wrote, I don't know Dr. Peter Malone. I don't know how he got my book, but probably were published by the same publisher, Skyhorse, and my imprint is Odysseus. But the fact is that I know very little about Dr. Malone, except that I've admired him. But his review is so extraordinary.
Starting point is 00:26:05 I really was thrilled, thrilled to read it. So I'm not going to read it now. I don't have a copy. But he says things that I guess when somebody gets what you're trying to do on that level, it's very gratifying that he sees kind of what I see. And that was just amazing. So Dr. Peter Malone's review, I posted it on X. We'll post it on my email.
Starting point is 00:26:33 If you get my email, if you don't get my email, Please go to ericontaxis.com, sign up for the email, which reminds me, we are continuing our campaign with CSI to save people out of slavery, to free enslaved people in Sudan. Ladies and gentlemen, let's break this down. Muslims believe enslaving Christians is a good thing. There is slavery in Africa. Black-on-black slavery. Let's think about this. This is not a racial issue.
Starting point is 00:27:06 This is an ideological issue. Some people believe slavery is an abomination. Some people believe it is a wonderful thing. They can glorify Allah by enslaving Christians who don't bow to Allah. It is an ugly thing. I ask you, please, to go to my website, Eric Mataxis.com, and do what you can. Please, I know these things take time that you're busy,
Starting point is 00:27:32 but the idea that we could actually do something about this is astonishing. Maybe you can give $50, maybe you can give $100. If you can give $250, that frees a slave and sets them up in a life of freedom. We've discussed this in the past. We'll discuss it more in the future, but you have to do it. Everybody who listens to this program has to participate somehow. It doesn't matter how, but please just go to the website, Eric Mattaxas.com.
Starting point is 00:28:00 Please take advantage of the opportunity to do this. This is an unmitigated good. There's just nothing, yeah, but. There's no but. It's an amazing thing that we get to do this. And there are people listening to this program who could do multiples of that, and it's no big deal. And think of what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:28:17 To say you're changing lives is a grand understatement. You are delivering people literally out of slavery, right? People overuse the word literally, and they misuse the word literally, constantly and it drives me crazy. It doesn't literally drive me crazy because then I'd be crazy but it drives me crazy.
Starting point is 00:28:40 I said figuratively, not literally. But in this case, slaves are literally freed. There's no hyperbole and that's why I don't like people to overuse the word literally or to misuse it because you lessen the value of the word, the power to say that these people are being freed
Starting point is 00:28:59 from slavery literally. Like, there's no exaggeration. It's, it's, it's the actual thing. And you have to go to Arapentaxes.com to participate in that. And I ask you please to do that because it's just a- Yeah, we've extended it through the 15th of June because we sort of had a slower start. There was an issue with the web webpage, so we've extended it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:23 And everything's working out, so that's good. But CSI is a partner that we've had for a number of years. And, you know, we, it's good that when you can find people you trust and people that are doing good work. So we're very gratified that they're doing this work and that the, you know, they're so committed to it. And really all the lives that they see change, it's really pretty extraordinary. So the fact that we get to participate in that, it's kind of mind-blowing. I was at Sam's Club yesterday, two days ago, we were celebrating. our niece's graduation in Charlotte.
Starting point is 00:30:03 And I won't go into all the details, but the family has a tradition of doing luau's for graduations in the family. Please don't go into the details. Well, we make a volcano for every graduation luau. And it's kind of a temporary volcano. It doesn't last the party. But basically we figure out a way to shoot a little flame out of it.
Starting point is 00:30:24 And we've gotten so good at figuring it out. It's evolved. So now the flame is like 30 feet. high and you know it's a whole thing so but at the sams club they had this giant yard slip and slide it's a two two-sided thing it was four hundred dollars it had a big shark thing and it's inflatable so it inflates in two minutes and it's this giant thing and i said i could you know i really wanted to buy it on one i didn't buy it but i was like man this would really uh enhance the luau if i came home and set up this giant you know aquatic dollar slid you know a four of a dollar slid
Starting point is 00:30:59 slip and slide, that's like, that's like an $90 slinky. Right. I don't get it. And I literally said to myself, I can literally free a human being with less than this in Sudan. Oh, I see where you're going with this. The slip and slide or I could free a human being from slavery. Folks, I mean, that's embarrassing. People talked about that.
Starting point is 00:31:23 That's embarrassing, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Don't, don't make me feel bad. That's horrible. But please go to Ericmataxis.com. Please do what you can, folks.
Starting point is 00:31:33 You can do something. You can do $10. Like, you can do something. Please do something. And we're all forgetful. So, like, write it down right now. Please, Ericmataxis.com. Please do this.
Starting point is 00:31:46 I'm asking a lot. But this is clearly not asking for ourselves. This is just a beautiful thing for the Lord. I want to talk about my conversation with Woody Allen. But before that, I want to talk about, if you've read my book, you know that at the end of the book, there's an acknowledgments page,
Starting point is 00:32:07 and I acknowledge three people or three groups of people. One is my friend Seth Ward, Chris and I are very close with Seth, who recommended that I write the book on The Revolution. And when he said it to me several years ago, I said, huh, never thought, of that ever, ever, ever, ever thought of that. But I think it was God's idea speaking through Seth. And so that was amazing.
Starting point is 00:32:34 I acknowledged him. Then I acknowledge all the scholars, many of whom I have interviewed now at Socrates and City about their books, but I acknowledge them because without their books, I could not have written my book. But the third person I acknowledge passed away three years ago. And that is my, when I was in fifth grade, the American history teacher who every day for 180 days taught us about the American Revolution. That's Mr. Robert McDevitt, Robert F. McDavitt.
Starting point is 00:33:09 When I think about this man faithfully telling the stories of the revolution to a bunch of nine- and ten-year-olds, many of whom didn't care or were half listening, I don't know. but I guess I was listening because he made an impression on me that has stayed with me for more than 50 years and when I decided to write the Revolution book some of the memories and it's very vague
Starting point is 00:33:41 I just remember thinking wow taekondorova that's like a magical word that I remember from Mr. McDavitt the story of Henry Knox hauling the guns, the cannon from Ticonderoga over the Berkshire Mountains through the snow. It just has stuck with me for 50 years. His stories of the Baron von Stubin, who comes from Prussia to help at Valley Forge to train the truth. I just remember him talking about this in a way that it was magical that it stuck with me all these years. And so I write about him on my acknowledgments page.
Starting point is 00:34:18 and it's very moving to think about him because he was a great man and I don't know if you've known many great men in your life my dad was a great man Mr. McDavitt was a great man who was faithful to his calling to talk to
Starting point is 00:34:33 fifth and sixth graders and to take that so seriously and to do it so well he was funny I remember he had great wit and he was just a great man and I think to get a teacher like that at that age. Somebody doesn't say, oh, that's, you know, that's woman's work. I'm not going to, like,
Starting point is 00:34:51 you know, teach fifth and sixth graders. No, this man dedicated his life to teaching fifth and sixth graders, and it changed my life enough so that 50 years later, I'm just about in tears when I think of him. And so I spoke about it. I was hoping that maybe one of his kids, I did some research. I found out that he has five kids. And I was hoping one of them might hear me talk about this or contact me or something. And so I did a whole bunch of radio the other day, including local radio in Danbury, Connecticut, W-L-A-D in Danbury, Connecticut. And somebody heard me talk about Mr. McDevitt and contacted one of his kids who emailed us through our website. And I read the email from one of his kids. And I, I am so happy. I want to meet his kids, whichever ones I can. They're older than me. But I just,
Starting point is 00:35:47 you know would would be so delighted to meet them and just it would just mean so much to me so I was thrilled that now I have a contact point and I'm gonna that's amazing yeah I was I'm just moved I'm so moved by by that whole thing but what a great man and I think that it just reminds me that there's certain people are just faithful and they do their job I mean you know being a teacher being a nurse being a doctor being a librarian they these are like sacred callings it's not just a way to make money. And there are people who took it that way. They obviously took it that way. And they invested themselves not knowing what is the outcome going to be. You know, you just put it out there and these are kids and some of them are going to take it in. And some of them aren't.
Starting point is 00:36:32 And who knows? And you do your best. And Suzanne's mom was a teacher for years and years and years. And she's in my wife. And it's a beautiful, sacred thing. You can affect people forever. And so it really just moves me, I got to say. So I wanted to talk to. talk about that. I guess I want to hear about Woody Allen as much as I want to talk about that. I need to hear this story.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Yeah. There's not much of a story. There's a kind of a New York club in the basement of Jerry Netherland Hotel. And we're not members, but we have friends who are members. And it's like walking back in time to like 1980. The music, the vibe,
Starting point is 00:37:16 like it's just completely amazing and like it's old school just kind of crazy it's a time capsule I call them it is it is and um and so we've been there once before and they had this outlandish fancy buffet I think I think one the first time we went it was like Polynesian night and this time was uh so you too go to luau parties I'm not it was not a luau it was not no volcanoes that I knew that I know of. Okay. But they keep them in the back. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:50 But honestly, this was like a seafood night. So they had a small boat, like, you know, like the model of a boat filled with, like, lobster. Like insane. Like, it seems decadent, actually. It's like, you know, not colligula level, but it was definitely like, we're trying to impress you like crazy. So there's like oysters and clams on the half shell and shrimp and lobster and, you know, all this.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Like just create. For me, it's just a creative. Somebody with the creative gene said, you know what? We have free will. And rather than put the seafood out a boring flat tray, we're going to put it in a glorious boat. And you know what? Yes. I tip my hat to that person.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Exactly. And it was the SS non-cosure. That is not true. So it was the SS shelter. But there's a. reason I say that. So, so I'm there and I'm and I'm talking to my friend Jeff who's the member and he says to me, yeah, right before you guys came in, Woody Allen was right here. And I said, what? What? What? Like, what are you talking about? Now, by the way, parenthetically, folks, if I believed
Starting point is 00:39:03 Woody Allen was a pedophile, I would not be cheerfully talking about Woody Allen. I've done my research on this and I know people who know him and it's like I'm, I don't buy that. Otherwise, I wouldn't be talking about it. So, um, the fact of the matter is, and no, he didn't marry his like stepdaughter or whatever stupid thing everybody including friends of mine say that that is just a lie uh this doesn't mean i approve of his moral life but like no he didn't marry this is just so stupid and i'm i'm tired of talking about that but so this is a man not only have i seen almost all of his many many many many movies but i'm probably the only person that's read most of what he's written or have an awareness of his writing so he has been a huge influence on me in terms of some of my own
Starting point is 00:39:43 writing, my comedy writing, some of which I published, most of which is published at Ericantaxis.com under humor. I had humor published in the New York Times and the New York Times Magazine and the Atlantic and other places before I hated those places or they hated me. But anyway, the point is that I've written that kind of stuff. And so years ago, like 30 years ago, I sent some of the stuff that was published to Woody Allen. I got a letter from him. He said the pieces are quite funny. Coming from him, trust me, that's a big deal. That's a big deal. Yeah, he's definitely old.
Starting point is 00:40:17 I can't think of anybody who's better than him at this. Anyway, so I know all about him and I've met him a few times. And it's always slightly unpleasant because, you know, it's like meeting somebody that, you know, you know their work so well.
Starting point is 00:40:34 You feel you know them and you're intimidated and, you know, they're annoyed that you're probably coming up to them. and so which is why if you come up to me, I'm the opposite of that. I'm just thrilled if you, you know, come up to me in a book line and you've said,
Starting point is 00:40:49 oh, I've read your book, so I love your book. That means so much to me. Like I'm not, you know, but so there he is. And I think,
Starting point is 00:40:55 I wish he weren't here because now I have this feeling like I want to talk to him, but he doesn't want to talk to me. So, um, nonetheless, I, uh, I went up to him and he's holding a plate of shellfish or whatever.
Starting point is 00:41:08 And I said, you can't eat that. that's not kosher. And he says, well, just make sure you don't tell my parents. Now, he's 90 years old. That is very funny. So it was a funny thing that he said. And everything else is a blur after that.
Starting point is 00:41:26 I attempted to have a conversation with him. His book, his memoir was published by the same publisher that publishes me. So he knows my publisher. and I hope that my publisher, Tony, will help me eventually get an interview with Woody to interview him about his writing because nobody's interviewing him about his writing. Nobody knows about his writing. So I would love to do that. But so I mentioned that.
Starting point is 00:41:53 And I mentioned our mutual friend Dick Cavett because every time I've met Woody in the past, it's been at, you know, a birthday party for Dick Cavett or something like that. But it's just a funny thing. and I know this happens even to people who come up to me. They've read my books and then they meet me. And it's just a weird thing because you feel you know the person and, you know, you, it's, it's just a, it's just, it's a strange thing. And I'm sure what he, you know, what he's been getting this stuff, his whole life literally, there's an appropriate use of the word literally. you know, because he was writing for Sid Caesar's show of shows in the 50s when he was 16 years old,
Starting point is 00:42:39 and he's now 89 or 90, I think. So he's been famous forever, and he's been getting this forever. And so it's just that weird thing of going up to somebody and not knowing what to say, feeling like an idiot that no matter what I say, it's going to come across. You know, we've all had that experience, and I've had the experience. more than once I would say for you though when you're doing the book lines
Starting point is 00:43:05 at some of these events you are genuinely you know and one of the things that I do admire about you is that you really do enjoy meeting the people that have taken the time to buy and read the book
Starting point is 00:43:18 as many times as you've heard it it still is impactful for you so I am really cool that's really cool because you know you could be one of those jaded authors like Stephen King who sold a bunch of books and you know you don't have time for them and maybe you're thinking about how you could
Starting point is 00:43:34 you know maybe kill that person in your next horror creepy horrible you know it's like yeah he's just thinking of ways that he could knock you off in his next novel but you were very generous well i mean and and i'm i'm glad that uh you know that i've witnessed that's why i bring it up i come across as authentic and i always say and this is true if you can fake authenticity you've got it made I want to be clear about that. That's sort of like when we get accused of taking money from various, you know, sources or other places, you know,
Starting point is 00:44:06 to influence our, I don't know, our show or I don't know what people think. People, they're always going to hateers going to hate. And I always say, man, I wish that would just make our lives so much easier.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Yeah. Tell us how we can get some of this free money. Because I've never figured it out. Tari's, they're waiting outside my hotel right now. They've got money. The Israelis are paying me $7,000 every time I tweet. It's a beautiful thing.
Starting point is 00:44:31 No, we wish, we wish, but that's not the case. We actually believe what we say. And we've just got a minute here. Let me remind you, folks, please go to ericmetaxis.com. You can buy my book there. I ask you if you're going to buy a copy. Today is the day. And I beg you shamelessly that showing the world that we care about this kind of a book,
Starting point is 00:44:55 as opposed to Jill Biden. It makes a huge difference actually on the culture. I mean, it actually matters. So please, I ask you if you're going to do it, do it for July 4th. It's a great gift for July 4th for Father's Day, for whatever it is. Please. And by the way, it's a wonderful book. Also, when you go to aircontact.com, please CSI.
Starting point is 00:45:16 We need you to participate, however you want to participate. That's up to you, but we ask you to do that. I think we got 30 seconds. Chris, anything else? I would just say, yeah, let your dads know you love them if you still have them. And tell people when you get the book, maybe give it to a younger person too after you're done reading it. Yes. And post on social media. Please, please post pictures on social media. All right, I think I'm out of time. We've talked about enough. I think we've had enough of this nonsense.
Starting point is 00:45:45 But just grateful for you watching us tuning in. God bless you. And God bless America. Hey there, folks. We break into a regular programming. We kind of have a news flash here. In case he didn't know, I'm excited to get for a few minutes at least Todd Chapman on the program. He's a spokesperson for CSI Christian Solidarity International. Some of you know that we are right now doing a campaign to free slaves literally. This is a big deal. I see it as a great opportunity. for people who believe in truth and justice to be able to act on those values. And Todd, we're just always grateful when you can come on and give us a little more explanation of what it is we're talking about. Yeah, Eric, grateful to be back. And I've got to tell you, this is, it's always a highlight of my schedule of my year when I get to come before you and your audience. And give an update, first of all, as to the incredible difference that the Eric Pataxus audience is making in the lives of so many individuals.
Starting point is 00:46:52 that frankly, the world doesn't know about or has largely forgotten about. And I'm talking about women and children who have been enslaved for literally decades, well, at least the women. The kids, not so much because they're still very young. But these women, they've been enslaved in Sudan since the 1990s. And CSI, in partnership with Eric Metaxus, thanks to your generosity, has been able to free literally tens of thousands of those individuals and bring them back into a new life of freedom. So we're so excited to be here and invite you to help us free even more
Starting point is 00:47:27 slaves this moment. Please. Please. I mean, it's a, the problem, Todd, is it's almost unbelievable. Even to me, you know, when you say things like this, that we freed, you know, 1,300 human beings, I just think, can it, can it be? I mean, and I know it's true, but it is very hard to get my head around. So for people who aren't familiar with what it is we're talking about, talk to them. Go ahead. Yeah, this is something that most people, and I have this conversation a lot when people ask about CSI and then we inevitably talk about, you know, what is, CSI does a lot of things. But the freeing of these Sudanese slaves is their primary focus.
Starting point is 00:48:08 The only organization in the world that's actually focused on liberating these precious women and children. And people are shocked. They're like, you know, I've never even heard about this. So what happened was back in the late 19th. 1980s, Muslim marauders were basically allowed to do a bit of a kind of like a religious cleansing against Christians living in what is now South Sudan. And when I say they were allowed to do a cleansing, they were armed by the government, allowed to go in and ruthlessly murder men and
Starting point is 00:48:38 you know, take enslave the women and children in these Christian villages. And they took them up into the north, what's now North Sudan, and they've been held enslaved ever since then. And it became evident as CSI was working with the governments there to get these slaves freed, that the governments had no inclination to do that. So CSI just said, well, we'll see what we can do. And brought it to their supporters, and we've been bringing it to Eric Metaxus listeners now for a number of years. And what's all said and done, over 100,000 of the Sudanese slaves, now grown women, many of them, most of them were taken captive when they were children,
Starting point is 00:49:17 and now they're grown women, but they've lived their entire life in slavery. We're setting them free, bringing them back into South Sudan, reuniting them, reintegrating them into their home village whenever we can, and setting them up in a brand new life of freedom. And it's just a really beautiful opportunity for you, if you've never heard about this before, to step in and give a gift that literally will set a human being free. It's awesome. Well, again, it seems almost unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:49:47 but I want to encourage my audience, folks, this is true. We've been doing this for a number of years. Without you and your support, we don't do this. We can't do this. So it is up to you. The easiest way to do it is go to my website. It's just ericmetaxis.com. The banner will pop up.
Starting point is 00:50:06 And there are all the details there. But I have someplace here. Maybe I don't even have it with me today. But there's a phone number, which we're going to get to you. But I have to say, it is almost crazy that this is happening that in this day and age, we have this kind of thing going on on the globe. It sounds like something out of history. Unfortunately, evil and slavery are alive and well on the globe today. But the good news is that Christian faith has entered the equation and people of Christian faith know slavery is evil
Starting point is 00:50:40 and have the ability, thanks to CSI, to do something about it right now. So it's a tremendous opportunity. The $250. Now, by the way, if you can't give that, give whatever you can because it all goes to the same thing. But for every $250, it just does, it doesn't just free someone. And Chris, I don't know if you can get us the phone number, but it doesn't just free someone from slavery. It sets them up in a life of freedom. That's what Todd was just talking about.
Starting point is 00:51:11 So it's the whole package. every $250 sets someone free. It is really just, I guess the way I see it, Todd, is this is faith in action. If anybody wants to know, what can I do? What can I do? You can do this. Everybody can participate in this. Again, the easy way to do it is go to Ericmetaxis.com.
Starting point is 00:51:36 The banner comes up. All the details are there. I beg you, folks, please participate. Performance Auto Groups, 37th, Daniel. sale event is back. Now for three days.
