Starting point is 00:00:56 Discover Coffee Plus on Nispresso.com. Hey there, folks. Welcome to the program. It's called the Eric Metaxis show. It's some kind of a show. But my name is Eric Metaxis. So we just went with it, kind of on the nose. On this show, I usually talk to fascinating people, interesting people, and we let you listen
Starting point is 00:01:19 to that conversation. Now, today I have to tell you, we have someone whose work has greatly impressed yours truly. his name is Jeff Childers. I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly. And he is the man behind a daily briefing called coffee and COVID. And it is a joy to get him on this program. Jeff Childers, welcome.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Well, thanks, Eric. The pleasure is all mine. What an honor to be here. And what incredibly high praise coming from you. Well, I don't know who you think I am. You're probably confusing me with so much more impressive Eric Metaxus, but thank you for the confusion. I'll take it all. I was just about to tell my audience that I'll tell you as well that it was July 4th of this year.
Starting point is 00:02:31 So it was the actual bicentennial day, the 250th anniversary of July 4th, 1776, when, And a very good friend of ours said to my wife, did you get that email I sent you, the coffee and COVID thing? And we get a lot of emails and we're not really, you know, as buttoned up as we should be. And I think my wife had maybe gotten the email and missed it or didn't pass it on to me or something like that. And this friend, we respect this friend so much that I said, who, who, what is this? What is this? So I looked you up and I looked this, your, your, your blog. or whatever.
Starting point is 00:03:12 What do you call it? A blog? What do you call it? Yeah, I call it a blog. A blog, right? So a daily blog called Coffee and COVID. And I have since that day been dramatically impressed with what you're putting out. It's just extraordinarily informative and hopeful, but not in a Pollyanna way.
Starting point is 00:03:38 So I want to hear your story. how did you get to do what you're doing? What is your story? What were you doing 10 years ago? Where do you live? You know, all the basics. Yeah. So when the pandemic started,
Starting point is 00:03:52 I was a small-time commercial litigator with a nice, settled, mature practice in Gainesville, Florida, and not political at all. I mean, I was a conservative, but I probably only voted in every other presidential election, something like that.
Starting point is 00:04:10 And then the pandemic came. And my county is a deep blue county, and they went all in and went crazy with all the mandates and everything. So that activated me. It's definitely a God thing. I could go back to when I was 12 years old and explain how God prepared me for that moment. But among other things, I filed a lot of lawsuits. I won a bunch of them. and I started this daily blog
Starting point is 00:04:41 because I felt like the market for bad news was completely saturated. Yeah, so I felt like the market for bad news was completely saturated. I mean, there was this demonic spirit of fear, you know, across all of media and really the whole earth. And so for my tiny little, you know, outpost here in Gainesville,
Starting point is 00:05:02 I started putting up anything that could remotely be considered good news. and I also started like trying to squash the media narratives that kept coming out about, you know, how awful everything was. So, for example, they ran the Diamond Princess story wall to wall until we found out that it wasn't really that bad. And then they forgot about the Diamond Princess cruise ship story, right? I don't know anything about the Diamond Princess cruise ship story. I guess I missed it. Yeah, that was the first cruise ship to get a COVID outbreak. Oh, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:05:38 That was really at the beginning of the beginning of this crazy stuff. Yeah. Correct. Yeah. And so when we started to find out that things weren't really that bad on the Diamond Princess, the media completely forgot about the story. But I kept, you know, putting up the reports and the studies and the things that were coming out. And so people started to follow it. And one thing led to another, and six years later, I'm still doing this silly daily news blog with an optimistic,
Starting point is 00:06:06 spin and I'm a little bit on the sarcastic side. And we like to mock experts and people who feel self-important. So it's been a fun ride. Yeah. Well, you're being really humble because what you're doing is very impressive. And I think that the fact that it's positive and somewhat sarcastic and that you are, you know, tweeting the elites. I mean, my goodness, all of those things are extremely important at a time like this.
Starting point is 00:06:43 I mean, you know, since, since COVID, we've needed this. And so I'm a little embarrassed that I discovered you so late in the game because your stuff is just consistently impressive. I don't know how you have the energy to dig into everything the way you do. And so while I'm gushing about your stuff, let me ask you again, what's the best way for people to find you because I want my audience to know who out there is putting out information that is, you know, worth attending to. So how can people find you? Do they just look up coffee and COVID? Yeah, it's that easy. www.coffee and COVID-a-and-d.com and they can be sure it's a substack and it'll, you know, it pushes all the paid subscriptions first, but there's a free option
Starting point is 00:07:33 on there. And six days a week, no cost. And we just like people to be reading it. Well, listen, I want to ask you about specifics about what's going on the news and you, you know, you're, you're putting this stuff out every day. How in the world, Jeff Childers, the man behind coffee and COVID, how do you do this? I mean, I'm always impressed at people's energy and resourcefulness. And I mean, because to do this every day, you know, were you always somebody, I assume you were somebody who just had an affinity for digging through the news and this is somehow comes naturally to you. But it really is an impressive volume of work to put this out every single day. And it's not, you know, 800 words. You kind of go on and get into this stuff. Calculating route to avoid
Starting point is 00:08:17 seeing poverty. Turn left to bypass the unhoused youth sleeping on the street. Then keep right to skip by the lines of people waiting for food. Starting point is 00:09:11 Let your morning change you. Discover coffee plus on espresso.com. Yeah, my superpower is fast reading and fast research, which just comes from my litigation work as a lawyer. And I, after, once COVID started, I applied those skills to the news. because the news was burying us in so much propaganda and siops, I'm trained as a lawyer to look for what the provable facts are and to cut through all the noise that the other side is trying to raise in their lawsuit or whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:49 So I just use those same skills for the news, and you'd be surprised at how few people really do that. Well, no, I wouldn't be surprised, which is why I value you all the more. because there are just a handful of folks that I turn to. And usually they're like you in the sense that, you know, they're sort of amateurs at this. They haven't, you know, they didn't get a degree in this. But they have the ability, shocking ability,
Starting point is 00:10:17 actually to think for themselves and to tell right from wrong and to bravely say what they think are in an articulate way, in an entertaining way. That's really, really rare. John Zmirak, who is a dear friend of mine, he's one of those folks that I point people to him. He's writing less lately, but he's on this program regularly. Jim Kunstler, James Howard Kunstler, is another one.
Starting point is 00:10:42 There are not too many folks out there that seem to be able to go through everything and then give a reasonable accounting of, hey, what's going on? And it's astonishing, of course, that the mainstream media doesn't do this because they're getting paid a lot of money to do this. they fail dramatically at this, which is, again, all the more reason for people to read,
Starting point is 00:11:04 to read your stuff. But, I mean, you really leapt into this. I still am curious, what led you to that? That's just a big deal to be writing as much as you're writing on so many subjects. And again, I want to get in some specifics. But I always like to get people's backstory. You mentioned also that you're a man of Christian faith. What is your story? Did you grow up in Florida? Did you come to faith late in life? How did that work? Yeah. So I would say, that before April of 2013, I was an agnostic. I would have called myself a Christian. I didn't question the existence of God.
Starting point is 00:11:41 I was raised. I went to Catholic school for five years when I was a kid, never cracked a Bible. And then I had a supernatural encounter in April of 2013 on my bicycle. And it involved a vision. and the whole thing. And I came back from that bike ride, a completely different person.
Starting point is 00:12:04 We started going to the closest church to my house, which was a Southern Baptist church, where we still go. We started going every single weekend, tithing, the whole thing, and never looked back. So. This is, that is, that is, that's, that's an amazing thing. Before I continue along that thread,
Starting point is 00:12:24 I meant earlier also to mention Rod Martin, Rod D. Martin. I don't know if you're familiar with Rod Martin. Yes, I know Rod. Just a handful of folks out there that I tune into. I say these folks, you know, are helping me dramatically figure out what in the world is going on. But, you know, what you tell your fate story. I think conversions are always so fascinating.
Starting point is 00:12:50 I have never, I'm not going to surprise you, heard of a conversion on a bicycle. I was converted while it was unconscious in a dream. That's 1988. Other people have other stories. But wow, do you mind telling us a little bit about that? Because that's just, I'm enticed to ask more. Yeah. So it started because my biological father who divorced my mom when I was five.
Starting point is 00:13:18 So I didn't have a super close relationship with him, but he's the village atheist. So, you know, he's the guy. He studies how the Romans invented the whole thing, you know, how it's really Buddhism that got, you know, transformed in the Middle Ages into Christianity and all this kind of cookie stuff. And so it's one of his favorite subjects. So when later in life I started to reconnect with him, you know, finding things to talk about, talking about his ideas about religion in general was one of them. them, but I didn't know a whole lot about it. So at this particular time, I had just started my law practice in Gainesville solo. I had time when it was nice in the afternoons. I would come home, ride my bicycle in the beautiful Florida weather, and listen to a podcast on Christianity. And I was
Starting point is 00:14:11 going through a series on church history because dad loves to talk about how horrible the church has been over the ages, you know, the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades and, and, you know, you know, all this horrible stuff. So, but I didn't know anything about it. So I'm listening to this, you know, kind of semi-secular podcast, one episode per period of church history. And all of a sudden, I'm, you know, riding along, mining my own business, enjoying the weather,
Starting point is 00:14:41 and I suddenly am struck with a vision. I don't know how else to explain it. I mean, I was on one minute I'm on my bicycle. The next minute, I was on. I was in a, the closest way I could describe it as like a giant conference room about the size of a Walmart. And I'm standing there and in the middle of the room is the biggest conference table you've ever seen. And on that table was piled every sin I ever committed. It was horrifying.
Starting point is 00:15:12 I can't tell you what it looked like, but I can tell you that as I looked at each thing in the pile, I had a flashback to wherever that was like when I was seven years old and stole. some money out of my mom's purse to get ice cream or something like that. And I realized that while I always thought of myself as a good person, I was a terrible person. I mean, when you put that monumental work, that masterwork of sin, even though they all might be small, I never killed anybody or robbed a bank or did anything like that. But when you put it all together, it was completely overwhelming. So I came out of it and I'm now standing astride the bike and I'm crying and I prayed for maybe the first time since middle school.
Starting point is 00:16:05 And later I found out not knowing that the prayer that I prayed was like almost word for word the sinner's prayer. And I came home like I said and my wife will tell you it was a different man than left the house on the bike. And so it was such a profound experience. I mean, there's no explanation for it that you could ever give me that would be satisfying to convince me it wasn't a supernatural encounter. Because it could be a brain tumor, but I'm still here and doing fine. And so far I'm not cross-eyed or talking backwards or anything. So I don't think it's the tumor.
Starting point is 00:16:53 which only leaves supernatural. I really didn't expect us to go here in the conversation, but I'm so thrilled that I asked because, my goodness, we need stories like this. People need to know that this stuff happens. And it happened to me. It was very dramatic. And, you know, you're not making it up.
Starting point is 00:17:16 You know the difference between I was hallucinating or I was, you know. And I've had a number of videos. and things like that, not a ton, but when it happens, there's, there's no doubt. It's not like, oh, I was daydreaming and I wasn't sure, was I daydreaming or was it a vision. I mean, it's, you know, when it's dramatic, it's dramatic. But how extraordinary. I'm so glad that you, you shared that with me. So I assume that after that, you know, you just read all kinds of books and caught yourself up on the truth. Yeah, like I said, my superpower, that God's blessed me with is I'm a fast learner.
Starting point is 00:17:57 So I made up for all the lost time and then some. I wound up teaching a Bible study class at the church for seven years. And listen to this, Eric. Of course, because I'm who I am, I had to do my own curriculum. I couldn't use the pre-prepared Lifeway stuff. That was too boring. So I did my own. And my favorite topic, guess what my favorite topic was to teach my class about
Starting point is 00:18:21 every single year? They hated it. They hated it. The sin of fear and worry. That's what I went into the pandemic with. I knew every scripture in the Bible about fear and worry. That's pretty amazing. If somebody asks me your favorite scripture, if I have to pick one, it's, I don't even know the reference.
Starting point is 00:18:43 I think it's Philippians 4-6, I think, but it's be anxious for nothing. But in all things by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, make your requests known unto the Lord. To me, God's mercy in commanding us not to be anxious or to worry. I mean, how much must he love us to tell us, I don't want you to worry. I want you to give me your problems. I want you to keep your eyes on me and whatever. So that's kind of a big subject for me.
Starting point is 00:19:13 I haven't exactly conquered these things, but I'm excited that you've got a whole Bible study on it. Well, and so when I rolled right into the pandemic, what was the media and our political environment suffused with, fear and worry? 100%. It was a worldwide phenomenon. And I had just been teaching for seven years, every year for about two months, I taught those poor people that it was a sin to worry and to be afraid. And so what I saw was a world of sin. What a beautiful and chilling way of putting it.
Starting point is 00:19:59 But that's exactly right. And the funny thing, too, you can smell it. You can discern it, even if you're not aware intellectually of what scripture verses. You could feel it at the time. And it's happened at other times. I mean, the COVID was a classic example in our own lifetimes. But you can sort of smell the fear and it smells a little bit like the sulfur of hell. There's something about it that you know this is not God.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Yeah, 100%. I mean, I described it at the time as a demonic spirit of fear that was engaged in a generational possession. So it possessed, like Jesus said, right, it possessed this stiff-necked and whatever generation. He was talking about it was the parable of the guy who was delivered from one demon and it went away. and then it brought seven of his friends back. And then there's a really interesting thing that Jesus says right after that. And he says, you know, and this poor guy was worse than he was at the first.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And he says, and so it shall be with this stiff-necked and stubborn generation, implying that it's possible for an entire generation to be possessed by multiple demons. I've never thought of it that way. That is very, very astute of you, because that seems, in my research on what happened in World War II, with the Nazis, I should say,
Starting point is 00:21:34 and my sense of what has happened with COVID and in the years since then, it's remarkably similar because there doesn't seem to be a logical explanation beyond that. I mean, it seems like if you're solving for X, you can rule everything out and X is spiritual. Oh, I think many people made the point that what we went through was primarily a spiritual event, less than political. You know, no politicians ever voted on mandates. I mean, did you ever think about that? There was not a single legislature anywhere that debated them. It was all done through executive emergency authority.
Starting point is 00:22:18 And the only reason that that worked is because the public went along with it. So what was going on with the public? Well, I mean, it was a remarkable thing. And I, you know, it's always embarrassing when you're not prepared for something. And when it all happened, I wasn't thinking along these lines. I never cared who my mayor was or who my governor was. It just didn't have any bearing on my life. And suddenly, we all saw that, oh, boy, this makes a big, big difference in how you're going to live.
Starting point is 00:22:51 But we'd never experienced that before because we'd had actual liberty, basically. And suddenly we were all, I think that I was discussing this with someone just the other day, but it's always fearmongering around it's existential. You're all going to die. If you don't do X, you know, the seas will wash over. Florida is going to disappear tomorrow. The temperatures are rising quickly. I mean, it's always that kind of fear mongering designed to shut down debate, to say,
Starting point is 00:23:22 no, no, we don't have time to debate. This is existential. we're all going to die. And the COVID, I mean, it was that, it was that kind of a thing, that you better do this because, you know, and it was unprecedented, and it caught most people flat-footed,
Starting point is 00:23:35 including President Trump, who I think initially was thinking, well, what do I do? What, you know, we better get ventilators. We better have operation warp speed. What can we? Nobody really had been prepared for this. So it is fascinating to me that you were prepared by God.
Starting point is 00:23:54 There's no other. explanation for it. And like I said, I mean, I got activated almost immediately. And, and it felt like about a half a dozen times in my life, Eric, I felt like the Holy Spirit grabbed me and like really made me pay attention to something, you know, got my attention somehow. And this is one of those times when it wasn't even like a close call. And what I saw was, you know, the fear mongering, which you're right, It's their same tired playbook that they roll out every single time. You're all going to die or whatever. Your Formica is going to kill you.
Starting point is 00:24:35 I'll never forget, Michelle and I were in Miami on business one time. We were watching the local news, and it ran a segment on how Brazier is killing you. And it was just a bunch of shots of busty women struggling to close the class on their two tight brassiers. Your bra's killing you. Everything is killing us. Well, guess what? Nobody gets out of here alive, number one. But number two, in particular, for we Christians, Christian, what are you doing worrying about dying?
Starting point is 00:25:11 How is that even an effective argument against you? Today's show is brought to you by Grace Precious Metals. In an industry that can be confusing, Grace believes in doing business differently with Christian values, transparent pricing and a focus on straightforward gold and silver bullion, not high markup collectible coins. They even publish their spreads directly on their website so you can see the numbers before speaking with anyone. Learn whether physical precious metals may fit your financial plans at metaxismetals.com. That's metaxis metals.com. I have to tell you, it is so joyful for me to hear you say this because I have,
Starting point is 00:25:53 I've said similar things. Like theoretically, ladies and gentlemen, if you believe all that crazy stuff in the Bible, if you really do believe that, then you know that no one can kill you. When you die, you don't die. You go into a more real life. You become more alive.
Starting point is 00:26:11 And, you know, yeah, it's a struggle for us to imagine what that'll be like, but we don't need to. We just need to accept the facts that Jesus rose from the grave so that we could all by faith. join him, and theoretically we've already died to self. That is not preached very much. So thank you for reminding us. Calculating route to avoid seeing poverty. Turn left to bypass the unhoused youth

Yeah, I had a lot of really unique experiences during the pandemic, and one of them was, and it's a long story, and I could tell you how the whole thing happened, it's interesting, but put that aside, I wound up advising a lot of pastors. And so one of the things I kept coming back with is I was telling them, Pastor, don't get up in front of your membership or your congregation and tell them what a tragedy it is that one of your members has passed away from COVID.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Because first of all, first of all, COVID doesn't kill anyone. God takes us when it's our time. That's what we believe. So you're really complaining about the tragedy of God taking that member. And that's not right. And the second thing is that we celebrate when, and these are usually elderly people, when they pass into their reward, that's an opportunity to celebrate. It's not a tragedy. It's almost heretical to call it tragic. Listen, buddy, you're 1,000% correct, and it is nothing but a joy to hear you say these things.
Starting point is 00:28:43 You're an actual Christian, and of course, many people who are Christians, they really shy away from the logical conclusions. that you are putting in front of us here. This is how we're meant to live. And you can tell the difference between a Christian and a Christian and a Christian, because there are some people that celebrate and say, oh, yes, it's sad. You know, grandpa's gone, but he's gone to his reward.
Starting point is 00:29:05 We praise God that he is with God right now. What a joyful thing. That's what we're supposed to do. And there are many, many Christians that are buying into various levels of unbelief on this kind of stuff. And we need to be reminded. And it's just wonderful. It's just amazing to me that you've only been a Christian for 13 years.
Starting point is 00:29:23 It's sort of an astonishing thing that you got thrown into the deep end, brother. Yeah, I think about that a lot. And here's what I have concluded about that. So I was not blessed with the experience that a lot of Christians have, which is they got saved at church camp when they were, you know, nine years old. And they've been in church their entire life. And, you know, and I missed out on that. I did not have that experience.
Starting point is 00:29:51 But you know what I have that nobody else has? I know what my life was like the day I went out on that bicycle and what it was like the next day. And so even setting aside the visions and the whole thing, set that aside because I would never go back. You can't make me. I don't want that life anymore. Okay. So, and if that's not a supernatural proof, the reality of the Bible, I don't know what is. I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:30:24 I mean, I had a similar experience that it's just, it was supernatural. It was overnight. And you go, listen, folks, you could say what you want. I know who I was and who I am. It's just, you know, you can't talk me out of it. But in any case, I just, I think, I'm assuming you have not. written about this or have you? I've written a little bit.
Starting point is 00:30:50 My readers once convinced me to write about my bike ride. And I write about the faith issues. I especially wrote about the faith issues more so during the pandemic. And I've written letters to pastors. And like I said, I've advised pastors. And I've spoken in front of religious groups. So, and by the way, you know, that, none of that was part of the tapestry of my life before any of this started. Right.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Well, sure, sure. So I went into the pandemic, do the math. I went in the pandemic 2020, seven years after I got saved. Yeah. I find that significant. That's one of God's favorite units of time. Yeah. and it's sure quicker than 40.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Well, I got to tell you, I want to talk to you a little bit in the time we have left about where we are in the country. A faith leader friend called me yesterday profoundly pessimistic about the midterms and what lies ahead. and I'm my attitude is look whatever is going to happen our job is to praise God and to do what we can so we fight and pray and we fight and pray we do what we can but we praise God in the midst of it and that said it's important to have good information and so I'm just curious about what your sense is of where we are as a country so many people are you know a upset about the possibility of losing Congress. Some of them say the certainty of losing Congress and how Trump and everybody is going
Starting point is 00:32:45 to be investigated like crazy and the party's over and we squandered the two years. And what is your sense generally of where we are and what lies ahead? Yeah. So there's a lot I could say about that. First, to your friend, if he's a Christian, I would go right back to where we started, which is it's a sin to worry about it. Stop. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Be optimistic. God's in control, not the Democrats, not the, you know, DSA, not COVID, you know, it's God. This is God's plan that we're living through. Then setting that aside to my secular friends, I would say, where did you feel like we were on the trajectory when Biden was in office? Or when Kamala took over in the campaign and the polls were all saying Trump didn't have a chance. Where did you feel like we were? And how do you compare where we are right now to that? We're infinitely better than we were then.
Starting point is 00:33:45 So what basis do you have to be different? I think the scripture is you are like the children in the marketplace where Jesus is saying, you know, you played the, the dirge for me, you played the dirge for me and I did not more. And you paid the pipe for you and you did not dance. No matter what, I mean, what you've just said, you know, that, yeah, people, how quickly you forget that Donald Trump was re-elected and became the president on the United States for a second term. How quickly you forget how dramatic that is, even how dramatic it was that he was elected in the first place. I mean, we need to keep our eyes on what God has done. That's part of, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:27 how we can process where we are now. So thank you for reminding us of that. So there's that. And then the third thing I would say, and listen, so I have a unique perspective. The unique perspective that I have is I get up at 4.30 every morning and I dissect the news. And that enables me to spot all their Psiops and, you know, psychological manipulation and fear mongering and everything because I've learned their tricks. And most of it is not even that original. They recycle the same tricks over and over again. we're the the narrative that the Republicans are on the ropes for the midterms is a fake narrative that is not even close to true first of all the Democrats are drowning in problems they've got a
Starting point is 00:35:23 civil war with the DSA going on they're out of they're broke they're out of money you know All their sneaky, you know, back tricks of U.S.A. and welfare fraud and ways that they funded campaigns, that's all been cut off. Their Act Blue is under investigation. They don't have a – who's the leader of the Democrat Party right now? Who would you say it was? You mean other than Satan? I have to think about that. Actually, it's kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:35:55 I'm just – I'm drooling at the prospect of Kamala Harris. leaping into the fray for 2028 already. I'm just drooling at the idea. Because when you say who is the leader, I mean, I guess I would assume behind the scenes, Obama is the leader. If he is, he's not out front. He's leading from behind again.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Correct. Right? So the Democrats are in disarray. Like I said, they got this civil war with these crazy DSA candidates who have almost no chance of being elected. from the guy in Texas to Michigan to Maine, you name it. Those are all losers.
Starting point is 00:36:35 They're dead losers. I mean, if the Republicans game to lose is a better way to say it maybe. Excuse me, which guy in Texas? Talarico. You don't think Calerico has a chance of winning? No, I don't. And even if he weren't a lunatic, which he is, it's Texas. And who's the most beloved state attorney general in the
Starting point is 00:37:00 country. Well, listen, I love Ken Paxton. I mean, I think he would be amazing as a senator. But again, you know, I've taken a lot of this negative information. So I'm, it's why I read coffee and COVID. I needed an antidote. Yeah. If anybody's facing bad news, Democrats are facing bad news. And here's it finally, if you want something that's like, you know, Spock level logic. The truth is that the way that countries configured now, there are very few close races anymore. There's a handful. And so the worst case the Republicans are looking at might be losing the House by a couple of members. And that's it.
Starting point is 00:37:47 That's the worst case. We're not going to lose the Senate. That's just not in the cards. The Democrats don't have the right configuration of races this time. So, and the Republicans are just starting to fight. they've just started deploying their massive war chest that they built up, the $800 million for the midterms in six weeks. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:11 So, and the polls don't even start with me on the polls. The polls are always wrong. They, they won every single time with Trump, three times out of three. Why anybody listens to the polls and gets, and much less getting depressed about the polls, come on, give me a break. Yeah. The polls are useless. Why should they affect our thinking at all?
Starting point is 00:38:36 Well, I'm with you. I'm with you on that. But when you say the worst case scenario would be to lose Congress, that would be a big deal. Would it not? Okay. So let's say the House flips and the Democrats get control, which means they're going to, you know, all the committees are going to stop doing anything useful. They're going to start investigating Trump and his family for everything they can think of. They're going to probably run an impeachment or two between now and the end of Trump's term.
Starting point is 00:39:05 All right, let's, I don't think that's going to happen. But let's just say that that happened. Wouldn't you still take that over President Kamala Harris? I think I would. Yes, I. Absolutely. Absolutely. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:21 So it's, we have, it's just a choice of great or better. And so even if the report. Republicans lose, we're still infinitely better off than we would have been without Trump. And, you know, it's a second go-round with them. This time's going to be different. But I don't think we're going to lose the House. That's not my sense at all. Well, that's big news coming from you, because I really, I always want to be optimistic,
Starting point is 00:39:50 but I've heard so much negativity lately that I've been taken aback a little bit. But as I, I mean, as you've been saying, and I agree wholeheartedly, Our job is to praise God and to do what we can. What can you do? You know, but worrying is not helping the situation. And people can fast and pray. Folks, feel free to fast and pray for this country. Feel free to fast and pray for the election.
Starting point is 00:40:17 That's something we ought to be doing. But to me, you know, when President Trump narrowly missed being murdered in front of everybody, that to me was God giving us the same. sign to say, okay, do you see what's going on here? He should be dead. You should be dead. America should be dead. It's not. I have saved you for my purposes in history. That's how I interpret it. That's the short version. It sounds like you are somehow also sanguine about the future of the country. Well, to your point, it's in God's hands, not our hands. We, we humans, we love to feel like we have some control, right? So we want to do something.
Starting point is 00:41:01 What can we do? And the reality is that the most unlikely thing can happen with all the preparation in the world. If we did everything right between now and the election, something weird could happen on, you know, the last day before everybody votes. And that's all in God's. We have no control over that. If you're just like drowning in doubt, then I would say to you, Stop listening to the Psiops and just focus on what's in front of us. It's a midterm election.
Starting point is 00:41:37 What happens in midterm elections? The out-of-party, the out-of-power party usually has a small advantage, and it's always a low turnout election. So the answer, if you want to do something in this world, besides praying and fasting, which you should do first, if you want to do something, then work on turnout. It's just a turnout election. That's it.
Starting point is 00:42:04 It's that simple. It's not more complicated than that. We just have a few minutes left, Jeff. First of all, I want to tell people to find you at coffee and COVID.com. Coffee and COVID.com. You're crazy if you don't go to coffee and COVID.com. Do you have any sense of the situation with Iran where that goes? That's another one of these things.
Starting point is 00:42:31 people are so negative, negative, negative. It just kills me the negativity on this one. So there's a lot that you don't see if you're just getting your news from the media. And one of them is all the reports from Secretary and HECSeth and from the various military command structures that have responsibility in the war in Iran. And if you will look at those, and they're all. on Twitter, you can watch these feeds yourself. They're reporting being completely in control of that situation.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Nothing is happening in Iran that we don't allow to happen or that we're not aware is happening. Okay. And the Iranians are on the ropes. Their whole plan is to try to use it as a political tool against Trump for the midterms. They have no more plan than that. That's their whole plan. And I think what Trump said was, fine, let's not win it before the midterms. Right.
Starting point is 00:43:34 I'm taking that away from them. Right. Right. I'm just not even going to account for it. We're just going to do it however long it takes through the end of the year and forget about the midterms as a war strategy. Yeah. Trump is absolutely brilliant.
Starting point is 00:43:51 He's the gift that keeps on giving. He's God's gift really to the country. I'm astonished at his genius. and the fact that he's putting it to use for America and ultimately for the world. It's an extraordinary thing. Well, what else can we talk about in the moments we have? What have you been writing about the last couple of days? Calculating route to avoid seeing poverty.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Turn left to bypass the unhoused youth sleeping on the street. Then keep right to skip by the lines of people waiting for food. Starting point is 00:45:10 Let your morning change you. Discover coffee plus on espresso.com. So we're in a really odd news cycle because the midterms are coming. so you have to take for granted that everything that the media focuses on is calibrated in some way to affect the election. And so my job, as fast as I can run behind it, is to try to point out where the media is, you know, fudging, where they're, you know, not telling us something that totally changes how you look at it and that kind of thing. I call it defusing the narrative.
Starting point is 00:45:54 my readership at some point about four years ago, I realized that I had enough regular readers that if I could just like point out the trick the media was playing that day, there were enough people who would then go to Twitter and repost it or comment on it that we could extinguish it. We could take the media's sciop away from them.
Starting point is 00:46:21 And so the burden that I have is I got a, I got to, number one, catch them doing it fast enough. And number two, then explain it simply enough that everybody can follow behind that and not get worried and not get fearful about what's going on. Trump was at the UN yesterday. Now, this is so hilarious, Eric. I mean, so I wrote this morning, it's like, I don't know if you've ever been the subject of the silent treatment from your wife or significant. other. But you know what that's like, right? You did something wrong, that you probably shouldn't ever said something. Forgive me, we've only got 90 seconds, but go ahead. And, and so basically,
Starting point is 00:47:10 that's the, that's what happened with Trump, right? He gets CNN and Politico out. And so they said, okay, we're not covering you anymore. And so what they do all day yesterday? Covered him wall to wall. So, you know, we poke fun at that and we look and see the media can't help themselves. He is in charge and not them. It really is extraordinary. It really is extraordinary. I want to talk to you for much longer, but I can't. But listen, Jeff Childers, we know where you live.
Starting point is 00:47:42 Coffee and COVID.com. I'm telling all of my viewers, listeners, you owe it to yourself. to the country to go to coffee and COVID.com. It really is just excellent work you've been doing, Jeff. Just so proud of you, so grateful for you. And I want to have you back to talk about all kinds of other stuff. But we will leave it there for now. Coffee and COVID.com is the website. Jeff Childers, thank you so much. You made my year. Thank you for having me. You've often heard me talk about the Golden Triangle of Freedom, that intersection of faith, virtue and liberty. And for that triangle to hold, we need access to the truth. Unfortunately,
