Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, welcome to the Eric Metaxus show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy p.m.investments.com. That's legacy p.m. Investments.com. Welcome to the Eric Metaxis show. Did you ever see the movie The Blob, starring Steve McQueen? The Blood Crudling Threat of The Blob. Well, way back when, Eric had a small part in that film, but they had to cut his scene because the blob was supposed to eat them. but he kept spitting him out. Oh, the whole thing was just a disaster. Anyway, here's the guy who's not always that easy to digest. Eric the Texas!
Starting point is 00:00:50 Hey, folks, welcome to the program. I believe it's Friday. Chris, is it Friday by your clock? It is, and we're getting close to the Halloween time, too. Scary. I want to talk about Halloween. I'm not a big fan of Halloween. But before I did,
Starting point is 00:01:08 do that. Let me tell you, in this hour, I'm talking to Abe Hamilton with the American Family Association, kind of about the state of America, you know, about everything, about everything. And gosh, next week we've got Naomi Wolf. We have Laura Logan. We have the world's tallest guests on this program. We still haven't aired that. And that will freak you out, folks, because he's really tall. And I don't care what radio you're listening on or where, how you, how you, you know, receive this program, his height will frighten you because he's seven feet tall.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Yeah. And to, not to, you know, he's a handsome guy, man, but he could do an amazing Frankenstein if he wanted to for Halloween. Well, I mean, the fact that he's literally seven feet tall, when he walked into the room, I blanched. I had this kind of like animal instinct to run. I was frightened. But he turns out to be Yeah. You actually
Starting point is 00:02:12 Yeah. You did. We both, I think, lost three inches. We shrunk when he came in. You can't help. You regained emotional. You can't help it. It was very frightening. But anyway, so he's coming on next week. We got Joseph. We got such great stuff coming up. I want to remind people
Starting point is 00:02:29 today there's the film Police Day, okay? Today, the 27th of October, Friday. It is being released, you know, digitally. You had, if you wanted to see it in theaters this week, that was on the 23rd, the 25th. But today, you can see it digitally. I just want to say people need to know.
Starting point is 00:02:51 John Smirke talked about it yesterday. We had Dinesh speaking about it. Of course, it's his film. But it's, this gives us hope for America that the facts are coming out about what has happened in this country, about the, weaponization of our own government against us. Folks, when I wrote my Bonhofer book and how the Nazis did this, I couldn't really dream that this could happen in America.
Starting point is 00:03:19 It just was not possible. And yet I had a sense that this was coming and it has come. And so I talk about this wherever I go. So Dinesh D'Souza has made a fantastic film, police state. I hope you will watch it tonight when it's available. please do yourself a favor and tell your friends about it. It's just very important. I also want to say today's the last day. I guess we'll keep the banner up through the weekend, but we're trying to raise funds for Israel and all this stuff is connected. There's evil in the world, folks. There's evil in the world.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Sometimes evil expresses itself in authoritarian governments. Sometimes evil expresses itself as we're seeing in our own country with the FBI smashing down the doors of friends of mine because these friends dared to express their perspective. And, you know, they're domestic extremists now. They're not wonderful Americans trying to keep America, you know, wonderful. No, they're domestic extremists and we need to shut them down. Evil expresses itself that way. Evil also expresses itself, as we know,
Starting point is 00:04:36 through Hamas and through people who want to kill Jews because they hate the God of the Jews. Here's the problem. The God of the Jews is God. And so you're dealing with real evil. And what happened in Israel is evil. They need our help. So we're asking you to go to our radio website. It's metaxis talk.com.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Metaxus talk.com. You'll see the banner, Israel at war. I want to exhort you to give his generous. as you can. They need our help. They need our help. They're suffering in that nation. They need our help. So please go to MetaxusTalk.com. There's a phone number. I'll give you the phone number. It's 800-235-7-77-5. 800-235-7-7-5. 800-235-7-7-5. I guess, Chris, I wanted to talk a little bit about John Smirak yesterday. and at other times has made the case for why he thinks it's good to celebrate Halloween. And it's an interesting thing because John Disland, the tallest guest we've ever had on the program,
Starting point is 00:05:48 differs with John and towers over him by like a foot and a half. So I... Yeah, there's no contest. I mean, there are two schools, right? I think John is, he's not saying be ghoulish, but he's saying there's a way to do it sort of historically. Well, I think, I guess I have mixed feelings about it like I do a lot of things because I think when I was a kid, you know, you get dressed up as Superman or I think my first costume was Charlie Chaplin. How strange. But I remember that. Charlie Chaplin costume, I was about five years old. I think my brother was Superman. My mother made the costume. Talk about love. She made this like, it's amazing. But, you know, it was an innocent time when you think about the Charlie Brown episode, The Great Pumpkin.
Starting point is 00:06:42 There's just something really sweet and innocent about it. And, of course, we're living in dark times. But I just want to say to people that, you know, the horror that you see, the kind of horror films, they've gotten so dark. I would avoid them like crazy. I would avoid that stuff like crazy. But it doesn't mean, you know, you can't watch fun, spooky stuff. I've recently been catching up on the old universal films, Frankenstein 1931.
Starting point is 00:07:07 That is just one of the greatest films ever, directed by James Whale, Frankenstein 1931. Talk about a classic. Brilliant. It is brilliant. I recommend it. Frankenstein starring Boris Karloff, who was, frankly, amazing. And then, of course, the bride of Frankenstein came out a couple of years afterward with Elsa Lancaster as the bride of Frankenstein.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Just brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Boris Karloff is amazing. I watched recently the invisible man. And I would say those things are like in the canon of American film. You know, these are historical. Oh, no, no, no, there's no doubt. There's no doubt about it that if you haven't seen these films, you've got to put them on your list.
Starting point is 00:07:47 But Frankenstein 1931, the Dracula starring Bella Legosi. I mean, it's, if these are all, Carl Lemley was the producer, I believe, of these films. I've been looking into this lately. but Invisible Man with Claude Raines. Una O'Neill always plays the screaming domestic servant. She's in the Frankenstein films. But The Invisible Man, Dracula, Frankenstein. And then I saw The Mummy, which I've seen a few times in the past,
Starting point is 00:08:17 starring again Boris Karloff. And I'll tell you, he is so chilling. It really is amazing what an actor he was, that he was able to pull it off. I just marvel at these films. So I guess I want to recommend them. And if you only watch them for one reason, the reason that you watch them would be so that you can appreciate young Frankenstein
Starting point is 00:08:42 made by Mel Brooks in the 70s. If you watch Young Frankenstein, you will appreciate how his knowledge of all the early films I just mentioned enabled him to create one of the greatest comedies of all time. I mean, of all Mel Brooks's films, nothing holds a candle to young Frankenstein. I believe that's because Gene Wilder was very involved in the writing of it.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Because I think Mel Brooks on his own, you know, sometimes he can go a little, he gets a little off. It's a little much or a little corny. But these films are so great and then you can watch Young Frankenstein. But the mummy, I mean, the name of the character that Boris Karloff plays is, Audith Bay. It's unbelievable. I recommend these things. Okay, when we come back, Abe Hamilton, lots of great stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:32 God bless you. Folks, we want to remind you this is it. This is it now, today, last day, or tomorrow last day. Maybe we'll keep up the banner through the weekend. But to help Israel, we need your help. The phone number is 800-235-7-7-75, 800-2-3-5-7-75. the radio website where you can give where the banner is is mataxis talk.com. I believe that's how it's spelled. I have the General Counsel with the American Family Association, Abe Hamilton. Abe, welcome the program. Thank you so much for having me. Where do we start?
Starting point is 00:12:47 You're a public policy analyst and general counsel. Tell my audience who doesn't know what's the American Family Association. Yeah, the American Family Association is a ministry that was started in 1977 by Brother Don Wildman. It began with a campaign really to turn the TVs off. And then from there, it grew into confronting pornography in local areas. and now we are committed to informing and equipping American families for cultural transformation. We've been on the front lines in this fight since 1977, as I mentioned, and we continue to do so today.
Starting point is 00:13:24 It includes now the American Family Radio Network. We have about 200 some odd stations across the country. I host the Hamilton Corner on American Family Radio at 6 p.m. Eastern every evening, and we're fighting a good fight, raising up our torch and endeavoring to plant a flag for faithfulness to Christ in our nation. I've been on the American Family Radio network a million times over the years. And again, total heroes, total heroes. And so it's one of the reasons I wanted to talk to you because you all have been in the fight for the American family on issues of, you know, public morality.
Starting point is 00:14:05 What is being put out in the media, which, you know, has amazingly gotten darker and darker, just spiritually so toxic. When I turn on the TV, which I very rarely do, but it's kind of amazing the filth that is out there. And if it's not filth, it's just, it's toxic in some other way. And I know Don Wildman has been at the forefront of that for the longest time. It's just kind of, you know, as you say, going back to 1977. So where are we today? What should we talk about on this subject? Well, I mean, you really hit the nail on the head with the darkening of our nation. And I think the words of George Washington in his farewell addressed are our wise words when he said, in vain would a man claim the virtue of
Starting point is 00:14:55 patriotism who would work to subvert what he described previously as as indispensable supports to the American Republic that would be religion and morality. We cannot continue to press for a constitutional republic with democratic features where people have the wherewithal to participate in the election of their servant leaders. But we have an increasing the wicked populace. You know, we have to have both the contending for freedom combined with the churches command by Jesus Christ, frankly, to execute the Great Commission. And in many instances, we've had people focusing on either one or the other instead of approaching both. John Adams said, I know you know this very well, that our republic is only effective for governing a religious and moral
Starting point is 00:15:36 people. But what we're witnessing is a degradation that is manifesting itself in corruption at every level of our society, including in the upper echelons of our government. Folks, if you want an entertaining short read on what we're talking about, I wrote a book called If You Can Keep It, the Forgotten Promise of American Liberty. I bring it up just because people think like, well, Eric, you're pushing your books. Trust me, folks, I don't write my books to make money or as career moves. The information in my book, if you can keep it, which is short and easy to read,
Starting point is 00:16:11 is vital to understanding how our system is supposed to work or put it another way. There is no other way for our system to work. The founders understood that without some sense of public morality and decency, without people of faith being involved in the system, freedom doesn't work.
Starting point is 00:16:36 You cannot have self-government unless you have morality. And again, you can't legislate morality. So it has to come from the people. It has to come from the churches. If it doesn't, you will not get self-government and freedom. And that, of course, you know, as I'm talking now to you, Abe, this is where we are. In other words, we've seen the country drifting away from God's
Starting point is 00:17:03 principles away from robust expressions of faith in the public square. And it is inevitable that you lose freedom. The two go hand in hand. There's no doubt about it. And I didn't see it clearly till I wrote my book, if you can keep it, how absolutely inevitable this is. This is not kind of like it could happen. This is exactly what happens. It's like an equation where you change the value of X and Y. I mean, they are connected to each other. And there is no one. way they can be disconnected from each other. And so people of faith or patriots need to understand this. And American Family Association, you guys have been in this, as you said, since Don Wildman founded AFA in 1977. It is what is happening right now. So what are some of the metrics? Because I know
Starting point is 00:17:52 you're a public policy analyst as well as being general counsel at AFA. What are some of the metrics that we're looking at or what are some things that we can tell people that are, you know? But sure, I mean, there are statistics of all kinds of polls that are available, you know, a pretty significant percentage of not a majority of millennials and younger. They view things like misgendering as something that should be criminal. You know, it should be a criminal offense where people have their liberty restricted if you fail to use, you know, in the, I'm sorry, the infamous terms of J.D. Greer, pronoun hospitality. I mean, that is absolute absurd that you cannot have.
Starting point is 00:18:31 a civic society where you have thought policing and where people are, cannot express what they- Okay. Now, you just mentioned J.D. Greer. Now, my audience is a very disparate audience and are not familiar with who that is and what he said. Would you explain that because it's scandalous and it needs to be clear? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:56 And I'll say as a brother in Christ, everybody makes sense. errors. I don't think anybody is beyond the capacity of redemption from the errors, but at the exact same time, I do believe we need to call errors error when they occur. So J.D. Greer is a very popular pastor, the former president of the Southern Baptist Convention. And at really, during the time, if I remember correctly, while he was presiding as president of the Southern Baptist Convention, he attempted to present to the largest Protestant denomination and to his local church, the necessity of what he called employing pronoun hospitality in an effort to be loving to your neighbor.
Starting point is 00:19:33 And what pronoun hospitality is, basically, in this area where you have, what I would describe as trans insanity, where you have a person who's a man who wants to identify themselves as a woman in an effort to be loving, you should be willing to call this man a woman. Well, simply put, that's a lot.
Starting point is 00:19:49 You know, and the scripture commands Christians have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness, rather expose them. And so lovingless, simply would say that we don't need to affirm a lie in order to contend for the truth. But by God's grace, I will lovingly, gently, but nevertheless resolutely proclaim the simple fact that there is nothing you can do as a man to ever change yourself into a woman. There's no amount of surgery.
Starting point is 00:20:15 There's no amount of hormone ingestion. There's no amount of pills you can take that would ever change a man into a woman. That is just a statistical, objective, biological fact. And it's not loving to affirm a law. lie. What we should do is call people lovingly to repentance and provide the help, support, and resources that will enable people to reconcile the difficulties that they suffer, whether it be dysphoria or anything else. But pronoun hospitality, and I'll just say it candidly, is nothing more than a capitulation to the culture. And it's emblematic of what's happening
Starting point is 00:20:47 in our society because the Lord said he planted his church in the world to be the pillar and ground of truth. Well, what happens when the pillar and ground of truth compromises on truth? What happens is what we see transpiring in our society today. Well, again, and, you know, speaking about my most recent book, Letter to the American Church, this is infiltrated American churches. And when I say churches, I mean, you know, real churches, not phony, mainline, woke, crazy churches. We're talking, you know, the Southern Baptist Convention, evangelical churches.
Starting point is 00:21:21 They're so confused, and we need to tell them, excuse me, no, no, a man. cannot be a woman, a woman cannot be a man. We're not trying to be mean. We're speaking truth. By the way, don't take my word for it. The scripture is clear on that. So if you call yourself a Christian, you've got to be clear on this stuff. And this is as basic as it gets.
Starting point is 00:21:43 I mean, if somebody took your blood and my blood and they looked at it, right? They wouldn't be able to tell that I'm white and you're black. But they would tell instantly one, he's a guy. Oh, he's a guy. Two guys, your blood, every single cell. in our bodies, yours and mine. It doesn't refer, you know, to our race or to our whatever it is, our ethnic background or whatever. But it does refer to the fact that you're either a man or a woman.
Starting point is 00:22:13 So we're not talking about cosmetic differences. Cosmetic differences, you know, that's skin deep. Here we're talking about the most basic stuff. Do you have a womb? Do you have a uterus? it's as basic and deep as it gets in terms of identity. And we have people in the church like J.D. Greer confusing this and leading people to think, well, you know, this is the evangelistic thing. This is the nice thing to do to go along with us.
Starting point is 00:22:44 And I want to say, you know, out of respect, I get the idea that we don't need to be argumentative and insulting people. And, you know, yes, we want to be loving and we want to open the doors of the church. everybody. That's a fact. But when you have a leader talking like this, it sends a hugely confusing message to the people in the pew. We're going to be right back, folks. We're talking right now with Abe Hamilton, who's with the American Family Association. Don't go away. Tell me why Relief Factor is so successful at lowering or eliminating pain. I'm often asked that question just the other night. I was asked that question. Well, the owners of Relief Factor tell me they believe our bodies were designed to heal. That's right, designed to heal, and I agree with them.
Starting point is 00:23:28 And the doctors who formulated relief factor for them selected the four best ingredients, yes, 100% drug-free ingredients, and each one of them helps your body deal with inflammation. Each of the four ingredients deals with inflammation from a different metabolic pathway. That's the point. So approaching from four different angles may be why so many people find such wonderful relief. If you've got back pain, shoulder, neck, hip, knee, or foot pain from exercise or just getting older, you should order the three-week quick start discounted to only 1995 to see if it'll work for you. It has worked for about 70% of the half a million people who've tried it and have ordered more on one of them. Go to Relieffactor.com or call 800 for Relief to find out about this offer.

Use promo code Eric or Mypillow.com. Folks, welcome back. We're talking to Abe Hamilton, who's with the American Family Association. Some of you know about American Family Radio. I've been on it many, many times. These guys are heroes. So Abe Hamilton, General Counsel and Public Policy Analyst, what are some of the metrics or what are some of the situations specifically that we can talk about right now in terms of where we are in the country?
Starting point is 00:25:50 Yeah, you have this large and surging categories amongst younger Americans that call themselves the nuns that are not affiliated with any religious group, and it's amazing that this happens in a nation where our national motto is in God we trust, but it seems like we're not trusting in God. And I do want to make an additional point on the issue we were discussing about pronoun hospitality in that effort to be loving and inviting and evangelistic. It actually cuts against effective evangelism, because if we deny the basic facts that are articulated first and foremost in Genesis chapter 1 and 2, that he made them both male and female, And interestingly, people that are antagonistic to the scripture attempt to try to say,
Starting point is 00:26:31 how can you trust the Bible because you have separate or contradictory accounts of creation in the very beginning of it? When the facts are Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 are not contradictory, they're complimentary. Genesis 1 ticks off the six days of creation, what is the observational reference to the seven day of rest. Genesis 2 is an examined up close look into the sixth day of creation. When Jesus was a question about marriage, he quoted from them both. Have you not read, he made them both male and female from the beginning? Genesis 1. For this call, shall a man leave his father and mother be joined to his wife? That's from Genesis 2. If Jesus will quote from Genesis 1 and 2, I think we should as well. But the most important aspect from this
Starting point is 00:27:07 entire conversation, I would argue, is that the fact that God made man in two sexes, male and female from Genesis 1, questions about that bring into question the objectivity, the authority, and the applicability of Genesis 1. The definition of marriage, he made for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, come from Genesis 2. If we allow that to be questioned, we call into question the objectivity, the authority, and the applicability of Genesis 2. Well, what happens with Genesis 3? Because Genesis 3 is where sin enters the human experience the first time,
Starting point is 00:27:40 and the only remedy for the sin sickness that infects all mankind is Jesus Christ. But if we allow the world to cause Christians to question the authority, the applicability, and the governance of Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, why would the world then find Genesis 3 to be authoritative? And as a result of compromising on the issues of identity, on the issues of marriage, on the issues of sexuality, we actually welcome the culture to call into question the gospel message in and of itself.
Starting point is 00:28:08 Wow. That's a powerful way of putting it. You know, whenever I hear that fewer and fewer people are going to church, I've really gotten to a point where I say, I don't care because I think many people have been going to churches that are useless, that are confusing. I would rather you don't go to church than you go to a church and you're getting some watered down religious message that is not dealing with where people are living.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Where people are living in America today, they want to know, what am I to make of this transgender lunacy? Are you telling me I should go along with it? And so you have people like J.D. Greer and others who, I guess, in a well-meaning way, are misleading people. We've seen this a lot. And I think that the reason we're seeing fewer people go to church is because if the church is not relevant, if it's not really speaking truth, people are thinking, listen, things are too crazy in America.
Starting point is 00:29:08 This is not like going bowling. This is not like, you know, I'm going to go out to get a bite to eat. This is like I rely on church to guide me. and things are so crazy that I'm not going to go and spend a couple of hours at a place where I'm not getting clarity because things are so dire right now on so many fronts. And I really do think that some of the people who aren't going to church are they're finding spiritual sustenance other ways. Maybe they're listening online to a preacher who is actually speaking the truth. So in a weird way, I'm encouraged because I feel like a lot of what we've had in churches in America has been dead religion. It's been religiosity.
Starting point is 00:29:56 And I think that, you know, oh, it sounds good. These many people go to church or this many people say they believe. But I think we're at a point where we need clarity. And it's not enough just to say, I'm a churchgo or I believe in these things. Are you living it? I guess that's my bigger question. Are you living out your faith rather than just claiming to believe some things? Yeah, well, and I understand what people mean when they say go to church, but the reality is the Bible calls Christ followers not to go to a place, but to become the church. Amen.
Starting point is 00:30:25 We are called to be the church. Whether we gather, we meet under a palm tree, or we meet in a building, it's the Lord's Church gathering at a particular location. And I understand exactly what you're saying that many have found that to be useless. Now, the scripture commands it of us in Hebrews 10, but it's supposed to be a gathering of the called out ones. And one of the major things that has happened, unfortunately, that many preachers and pastors have sacrificed the fidelity to the scriptures in order to accumulate large crowds. And I'll just say very plainly, the strength of the Lord's Church is, not based on its quantity. It's based on its quality. The Lord is able to do is able to save by many or by few. He does his work with a remnant all throughout scripture. And so if we're looking at quantitative measures as being the primary metric to assess the church's vitality, we are looking in the wrong place. What we should be looking at is the quality of the Christ follower. And as the ranks of the remnant of the Christ follower expand in our nation, we will see a difference. I say all the time on my radio program, darkness is not an affirmative force. it merely reoccupies the space that is vacated by the light.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Much of the American story can be described in the fact that those of us who have been called to be salt and light, we have vacated our positions of service, and those places have been reoccupied by those who are agents of darkness. And it's high time for that to change, as we who are not only called to follow Christ's saving faith in the eternal sense, we're also called to obey him in the here and now to occupy until he returns. We'll be right back talking to the General Counsel Public Policy analyst of the American Family Association, Abe Hamilton. With the overturn of Roe v. Starting point is 00:34:13 We used to laugh, used to cry, used to bow our heads there, wonder why you've gone. Hey there, folks, final segment with Abe Hamilton of the American Family Association. Abe, where can we find you and the American Family Association? Because you guys are a real bright spot in the midst of a gloomy season in this nation. Yes, you can go. Our primary website is aFA.net for the American Family Association. You can go to our radio networks website, afr.net.
Starting point is 00:34:53 My program airs daily at 5 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. Eastern Time. At afr. dot net, just click on the podcast link. You can find my show there. I also broadcast it live on YouTube, Facebook, and my show comes, I have a television show that comes on NRB TV at 9 Eastern on Friday evenings on NRB TV. But my show airs daily. If you can't catch a live show, you can find my show anywhere podcast or found. You can find it there. The Hamilton Corner is the name of my program.
Starting point is 00:35:20 The Hamilton Corner. All right. Abe Hamilton, we can find you at aFA.net or afr.net. I always want to introduce my audience to who are the good guys, who are the heroes, and to give them resources. And that's why there are people who I know listen to this program, they're not aware of American Family Radio. And I want them to be aware of it because you need to know where can I go to get common sense and truth. And where can I get a biblically based view of things? you know, we were mentioning J.D. Greer. I don't know J.D. Greer. I don't think I've ever met him.
Starting point is 00:36:04 But there are a number of folks like this that are Christian leaders with great power and great voice that have gone sideways. It's just a shocking thing. And we need to call them out lovingly and say, excuse me, brother, this is not helpful. You're not helping the church. But it's not just. J.D. Greer, a lot of people that we would have looked to as leaders have gone sideways. A lot of Christian institutions have gone sideways. We need to be really clear that that's happening. So I don't know if you have other examples of that, but it's very important that we understand that a lot of the voices that we might have trusted, you know, a few years ago, something got to them, whether it's the transgender lobby or in my book about the letter to the American
Starting point is 00:36:56 in church. There's a chapter called the idol of evangelism where people forget. We're supposed to make disciples. And they are almost unable to say anything controversial or potentially divisive because it's all about, you know, bringing in people to the seats. And you think, no, that's really not what the church is supposed to be. The church is supposed to be. We're supposed to make disciples and live out our faith and be the church, as you said. So I don't know if there are other examples of this that you want to bring up. the examples are far too many. And you mentioned earlier that sometimes it may be the product of confusion.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Sometimes, honestly, I truly believe that it's a product of fear, that we have people who love the world so much that they're afraid to go crossways. You know, have people like Russell Moore who left the Southern Baptist Convention. He's now working at Christianity today. Interestingly, the magazine of Bill Graham founded. But it has become a beacon, really, I call it regressivism, not progressivism. because there's nothing advancing our nation with leftward-leaning theological positions or social policy positions or policy positions. It's regressive. It is an expression of fear in many instances.
Starting point is 00:38:10 And to say that you are afraid to say something controversial, Jesus himself said the gospel is an offense. And so we don't want to be necessarily obtuse or belligerent, but the gospel is offensive to communicate to someone that you are a sinner. and unless you repent that you will face eternal damnation, that is an offensive notion. But it's an offense that brings life. You know, you have two different sets of people. You have a surgeon who uses a scalpel, and you have a butcher who uses a meat cleaver. They both cut, but they cut for different reasons. The surgeon cuts to heal. And what we are called to be as Christ's followers, those who use the scalpel skillfully, that, yes, we do cut. But it's not a cut that is externally applied only.
Starting point is 00:38:51 It's the same cut that have been applied to us first. And we recognize, because we are sinful people, that we need a Savior, that we're willing to communicate this truth of the gospel. And you rightly pointed out that Jesus' instructions to his church and the Great Commission is to make disciples, not to make converts. You know, evangelism is a part of disciple making, but it's not the sum total of disciple making. And so understanding what that call is to make disciplined learners to teach others to obey, everything Christ has called us to obey. It is us, yes, rightly judging, but applying the same judgment externally that we've applied to ourselves. internally. And in that commitment, we will see things transpire at a heart, soul, and mind level. And as a result of people being transformed internally, that transformation leaks out into the
Starting point is 00:39:35 culture. Well, you mentioned Russell Moore Christianity today. I mean, I've said on this program a number of times, it is a stunning thing to me to see people with whom just a few years ago, I would have agreed on all the basics, at least I thought, drift. And in some cases, I don't know if it was they were triggered by Trump. It's different in every case, but something happened that made them begin to drift leftward and then to be very boldly leftist. And I say leftist, meaning that they're no longer really adhering to the basics, that America is a force for good, that we have to speak the truth boldly.
Starting point is 00:40:23 something happened Christianity today has been drifting leftward for a long time but there was an article that Russell Moore wrote about a year and a half ago that I was stunned when I read it. I was absolutely stunned. It was basically it was very veiled demonization of like Trump voters. Basically that's what it was. And I thought to myself, this is so ugly. This is so ugly. It is wrong. It's using this highfalutin language, the language of the cultural elites. like wink, wink, nudge, nudge. We all know who we're talking about. And I thought, this is absolutely wrong. David French has been particularly guilty of this sort of thing using Christian language and being really confusing to people. And so we need clarity. Again, it's one of the reasons that I wanted to have you on.
Starting point is 00:41:13 I want people to be aware of America as Family Radio, America Family Radio, forgive me, America Family Association as well, aFA.net and afr.net, folks. If you're looking for, you know, people who aren't willing to speak the truth, who don't shrink from speaking the truth, they're willing to speak the truth. Abe Hamilton at the head of the pack in this. Abe, it's just good to have you on here. God bless you. Thank you for being my guest. I appreciate it. Thank you very much. It's a pleasure to be with you, Eric. Folks, we want to remind you this is it. This is it now, today, last day, or tomorrow last day.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Maybe we'll keep up the banner through the weekend. But to help Israel, we need your help. The phone number is 800-235-7-775, 800-2-3-5-7-75. Most people want to do something. When you see this kind of stuff happening, you want to do something. you know that, you know, we are linked to Israel. This is not just some country where some terrible thing happened. Their existence on the world stage is central to God's history,
Starting point is 00:43:06 God's hand in history, their emergence into the world, and satanic forces want to wipe them out. So I'm asking you to go to our radio website metaxis talk.com, metaxistococococ.com. you'll see the banner there. There's all kinds of other stuff at Metaxashton.com. We have a store. We sell all kinds of crazy stuff there.
Starting point is 00:43:29 There's all kinds of stuff. You haven't visited it. But just go to Metaxistok.com and click on that banner. And be generous. I also want to say that if anyone is interested in having dinner with me, some folks out there, nobody's taking us up on it for this campaign. but if there's somebody that wants to spend the evening and to have dinner, it's always a joy for me to do that with people who give to these different charities.
Starting point is 00:44:01 So this charity, we're connected with, we're partnering with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. And they are, they're the ones that are, we're raising the money with them for them to bring meals to the elderly in Israel. to bring meals to the troops on the border. I mean, there's a lot that they're doing, and we trust them, and that's why we partner with them. This is urgent stuff. I think you know that.
Starting point is 00:44:30 But if anybody is inclined to give $15,000, the price has gone up because I have less and less and less and less time in my schedule. I've gotten too busy. I ask your prayers because it's a struggle a lot of the time for me to do the different things that I'm nonetheless, privilege to do. But if anybody wants to give $15,000 to this cause while the banner is up, it would be my honor to figure out a time when we can have dinner together. And I always say this. It's on you. You know, if you want it to be just a couple of people or if you want a group
Starting point is 00:45:10 and, you know, a big table of, you know, 10 or 15 people. And it can be an evening where I answer your questions or whatever it is. I think that if you give $15,000 to this charity, it's, again, it's tax is abductable. I volunteer my time to have dinner with you, and we can work out those details. But it's my honor. And I was going to say, I was also going to say for $20,000, you can set up dinner and Eric will let you stand him up. You can stand him up.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Yeah, I'll just sit there like a fool looking at my watch, looking at my phone, embarrassed. that it cost you 20. No, but I just think that my time and my evenings, I really have fewer and fewer evenings, free evenings where I could do this, either in New York or as I travel around the country. But I really met some wonderful people this way. I have to say people that I maintained friendships with over the years
Starting point is 00:46:05 because they gave to this charity and we had dinner. And it's a wonderful thing to meet people that are like-minded. So if you or anyone you know is interested in that, it's one way we can raise money for, these things that we believe in. Again, if you want to call the numbers, $235775, $800, $2357775 to give whatever you can give, it doesn't matter. But if anybody wants to do the dinner and wants to give $15,000, which is tax deductible, you have to contact us through our website. Let us know you've done that. And again, the radio website where you can give where the banner is is from bataxis talk.com.
Starting point is 00:46:46 my website where you can find everything else is ericmetaxis.com. God bless you.
