Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, welcome to the Eric Mattaxas show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy p.m.investments.com. That's legacy p.m. Investments.com. Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to listen to a man of grace, sophistication, integrity, and whimsy? Well, so are we. But until such a man shows up, please welcome Eric Mattaxas.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Hey there, folks. Welcome to Monday, June 17. Chris Heimes, happy Father's Day to you. Thank you. Thank you. As a father of six, we take that day very seriously here. Apparently it means I get to do and say whatever I want, which is a... Really? No, it's not true. I get to... I'm only the father of one. I don't get that. I guess after you have four children, you kind of bump it up into that category.
Starting point is 00:01:10 It's a bonus round. After four kids, it's like, it gets crazy. That's where you really rack up the points. Father's Day, listen, this is the first Father's Day that I've ever celebrated without my father. And it is, you know, I've shared on this program a lot of my life and losing my dad in January. And I think one of the things, I mean, I want to talk about. what I did on Father's Day yesterday. I want to talk about fatherhood.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Before that, let me just warn the audience. Today, John Zmirach in hour two, Oren McIntyre is coming up a little bit later on in this hour. Orrin McIntyre is an amazing young man. He's written a book called The Total State. I'm so glad that folks like Oren McIntyre exist. He's a father. Happy Father's Day to Oren.
Starting point is 00:02:08 So we got Oren coming up. up talking about the news of the day, the insanity of Joe Biden, the cynicism at the heart of the Democratic Party. And in hour two, we've got John Smirak. So I just want to say that. But I want to talk a little bit about just Father's Day. And I think it's not said often enough because of the nonsense of, you know, female empowerment and, you know, blah, blah, blah. Like, we're living in such crazy times that somebody sometimes just has to say a father like you know we go on and on about oh we need to love our mothers mothers are so great yes there's no doubt about that there's no doubt about that but i think uh we need to say at least the same about fathers i think about my
Starting point is 00:02:56 father now my father was not perfect uh i can give you chapter on verse of what we disagreed with whatever about. But ladies and gentlemen, nothing matters more than having a father. We know that homes where there isn't a father, it is a predictor of chaos. It is a predictor of who's going to go to prison, who's going to have trouble, who's going to have it. There is nothing more important than having a father, nothing important than being a father. So when I think about what my father gave me by being a good father, it is infinitely valuable, infinitely valuable. And I know that anything that I do, anything that I do is because of my father. And I want to give push back to a lot of Christians who say, uh-uh, it's about God. You know what? That's a lot of baloney folks,
Starting point is 00:03:58 because who created my father? Who gave me my father? God gave me my father. And God does not want me to denigrate my father to say, no, no, no, it's all about Jesus any more than he wants me to say, well, my wife's nothing special. It's all about Jesus. We have to learn to see God and Jesus in these other things, in my earthly father, in the blessing of having an earthly father and an earthly mother who love us. I really think that by over spiritualizing things, we can really do a disservice to the truth. Every good thing comes from God. There is no doubt about that. And anything good that I got from my earthly father, ultimately I got from God. But I ought to be able to say that it was my earthly father, being a good father that blessed me. We need to affirm
Starting point is 00:04:50 all those good things in this world, knowing that when we affirm them, we are affirming the source of all goodness and truth, who is our father in heaven. But I think that sometimes we get so spiritual that we forget that we really need to acknowledge things like our own dad. So I just, I wanted to say that because yesterday having the first father's day without my dad made me think about him. a lot. I am in Connecticut, in the home that he lived in for 52 years that I was raised in. I'm doing things around the house here. Chris, I don't know what you did in Father's Day, but yesterday, instead of what I do in my spare time. I... You did some manly stuff, it sounds like. I stained. It really was more like a, it's more like a paint than a stain, an entire deck. We have a like a, it's not a gigantic deck, but it's big here in Connecticut, here in Danbury.
Starting point is 00:05:57 And it has fallen into some neglect because, you know, when you're in your 90s, as my dad was, you know, you're not going to be crossing every T and dotting every I. So I had it on my to-do list that like the deck needs, it needs some work. So I went to, uh, well, Eric, yeah. I mean, I'm not, I've, I've done some deck. work. I've gotten much better, but I'm not a craftsman. And a lot of people
Starting point is 00:06:27 will tell you, you need to do some prep work. And I hate prep work. I just want to, like, paint the thing and be done with it. I'm with you. Yeah. I get the prep. Just go. Just paint. Don't you have to clean it first? Nah. Yeah, okay, good. So, well, anyway, but so yesterday
Starting point is 00:06:44 on Father's Day, I did all this manly stuff. I stained the entire deck, which again, I'm looking at it right now. It's right there. And I'm actually not finished. I have to go back. There's a lot of touch up because it was not easy to do it. But it's just a funny thing because you know, you're doing this thing. And I think my audience, maybe they kind of think like, oh, Eric's a Yale graduate. You know, he spends his time, I don't know, doing scholarship or something. Well, yeah, I do that. But I also, do things like get really, really dirty covered with, with, you know, deck paint. Dextain, yeah. What color, this is very important. What color did you pick and what, what ridiculous color did the Home Depot or Lowe's name?
Starting point is 00:07:35 Yeah, well, first, Suzanne and I went to, I don't know if we went to Lowe's or to Home Depot first. I guess it was a lot. But anyway, the point is we went to kind of like look into this, like, okay, so what do we want? What kind do we want? Do we want the semi-transparent? Do we want the this? Do we want the, that, that? Oh, and then what color do we want?
Starting point is 00:07:56 And then what do I? So we got four samples. I never would have done this if it weren't for Suzanne. This is sometimes this is why it's good to get married because your wife will force you to do the stuff that you just blow off. You know, you just kind of wing it. But so we got the four. And I painted the four. You know, I was going to and we're kind of looking at it.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Would this one be better? So we settled on the oak color. color, not the, I think there was like a cordovan leather, which really ends up being so dark, it looks like gray, black. So we said, no, no, no, it'll be oak. So we went with the oak solid because the deck is kind of beat up. And, yeah. How did you test it?
Starting point is 00:08:36 Because for me, I would have to drop like a greasy hot dog or hamburger on it and then pick it up. And then to really see the color, I would, you know what I mean? And you kind of got to do it in use, you know, like test cases. I'm not sure what you... You know, it's like the deck. I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm going to pre- I got my grill on the deck. So if I want to pick a color, I got to like, you know,
Starting point is 00:08:57 I got to do some battle testing. Oh, and then I had the other issue of, you know, do I have to take everything off the deck? Or can I take some stuff off the deck, paint half of the deck, and then let it, you know, because it's pretty sunny here. So let it dry and then move the stuff, move the table back and this and right there.
Starting point is 00:09:17 Or do I have to take it off? the deck. Big problem for Eric in Texas to figure that one out. But I had to move, we got a grill recently, which was a big deal. You know, we're trying to, I moved the grill. Under the grill, I see like a little gray toad. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. And I was like, I don't know why he's hiding under the grill up here on the deck, but I thought I've got to, you know, catch him in my hands and like, you know, release him someplace. So I, I catch this little guy in my hands, and it turns out to be a tree frog. I have never in my life seen a tree frog here in Connecticut. I mean, I grew up here. I've seen everything. Never seen a tree frog up close,
Starting point is 00:09:58 but it was a tree frog. It was not the toad that I thought it was. So the tree frog, you know, I released them into the wild and it was an exciting thing. But anyway, when we come back, before we get Torin McIntyre, we've got a lot more to share. Don't go away. Starting point is 00:12:28 Folks, welcome back. Happy Father's Day to all of you fathers out there. I would just going on and on about the importance of fatherhood. There's just something so, so beautiful, you know, about a good father. I just have to say it's just so important. And it's the first father's day that I've experienced without my dad and has made me think about him. I mean, I'm in his garden doing stuff, thinking about him, working around the house, thinking about him and loving him more and more and more. It's just something that bears saying, the value of a father and that, you know, God the father gave us human fathers on purpose to show us something about himself through our human fathers.
Starting point is 00:13:18 And I'm glad to say that through my dad, Nick Metaxus, I learned a lot about God the father. I was talking yesterday, Chris, you know, about staining this porch and like, you know, it's a big job. It's a big, messy job. And today I have to finish. I'm almost finished. But there's a sense of satisfaction in doing stuff like that. You know, I'm not the kind of guy that enjoys going to Home Depot and like, you know, I don't enjoy all that. In fact, I had to go back and get another gallon because I was misinformed by the experts at Home Depot.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Depot on how much I would need. It's, it's, it's, well, yeah. That's a real guy thing. I mean, did you really go to Home Depot if you didn't go there twice in the same day? I mean, that's, that's pretty much far for the course in my case. I knew you were going to say something like that because you understand. There is, it's funny, right? Like, like I thought, I've got enough.
Starting point is 00:14:17 And then no sooner that I'm doing it, I'm like, no, no, I definitely need more. So I had to go back. And, but what's funny to me is as, as a guy, I think it's a guy thing. like you go to places like this and you know instantly that the person you're talking to knows less about what you're doing than you do. So they start talking. You're like, you don't know what you're talking about, do you? You know, it's usually the younger guys, but they clearly don't know what they're talking about. And if you're sharp, you pick that up pretty quickly.
Starting point is 00:14:48 You're like, excuse me, young man, you don't know what you're talking about. So I'm here to talk to somebody who actually can tell me something I don't know. about staining a deck. Is there anybody like that in the building? So I found an older man who seemed... There you go. There you go. It's tricky. It's tricky. There is a...
Starting point is 00:15:07 It's a cycle... You know, if in 50 years they say, oh, no, those big box hardware stores were sciops for some dark, you know, CIA test thing like MK Ultra, you know, that gave us the universe. They're like, oh, no, no. No, that was... We were gaslighting.
Starting point is 00:15:24 It goes COVID, and then the whole... Home Depot big box stores is number two gaslighting experiments on the government on population. Well, I got to tell you. They drive you crazy. They drive you crazy. The other thing now about spending so much time in Connecticut because my mom and whatever is that, you know, I'm going to these places more and more. And, you know, sure enough, Suzanne and I were like, maybe we need a couple of chairs for the
Starting point is 00:15:47 backyard. What about those Adirondack chairs? So yesterday, I bought two white Adirondack chairs. but before, like, I didn't look into the fact that, oh, I'm going to have to assemble them. Like, I didn't think about that because I'm that stupid. So, of course, yesterday I spent quite a bit of time assembling two large Adirondack chairs. So that's what I did with my day yesterday. I stained a deck.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Yeah. I did a lot yesterday. This is the holy cow. And I used the grill, you know, in a manly way on Father's Day to cook steaks. You need to test your testosterone levels, man. I mean, they're probably off the chart. Get dead job. I'm starting to spike.
Starting point is 00:16:33 I want to go to war. I want to go to war. Speaking about wanting to go to war, we got John Smirak coming up in our two folks, Smirak. Now, you know what? I should say, too, Chris, because we're talking about all this stuff. Before we get to Orne McIntyre to talk about the news of the day, which is coming up in a minute, before we get to John Smirak, I should remind our audience.
Starting point is 00:16:55 of a couple of things. First of all, next week, this is crazy. Next week, I'm interviewing R.F.K. Jr. at Socrates in the city. That's a big deal. I've been thinking about the questions I have to ask him. And to some extent, I'm going to have to be tough on him because he's running not just against Joe Biden, but against Donald Trump. I think most people know that because of RFK's position on abortion, among other things, there's no way that I would ever vote for him or counsel people to vote for him.
Starting point is 00:17:39 But he's been brave on a lot of other stuff. He's been brave on the vaccines, on Fauci. So I'm really looking forward to that. And I should say that we have, it looks like it's going to sell out. I mean, I said this from the beginning. I'm not surprised. because it's RFK Jr. It's going to be two days before the debate,
Starting point is 00:18:02 and I think he's going to be in the debate. Wow, that's big news. Really? Yeah. Hmm. That's so... Where is the debate this year? I'm a little out of... I don't know if you know where it's happening either.
Starting point is 00:18:14 I'm not sure. The debate? I don't know. All I know is it's happening on my birthday. My birthday is June 27th. So the debate is happening on the night of my birthday. So maybe I'll have a debate. a debate watching party at the apartment with with a one close friend who would be my wife.
Starting point is 00:18:31 I don't know, but it's happening on June 27th. That's my birthday next week. And it's two days after the event with RFK Jr. It's Socrates in the city. I think, you know, there may be some newsworthy stuff that happens at the Socrates event. I'm just warning you, folks, if you can get there in person. As of right now, there are still seats. available, I'm pretty sure it's going to sell out just because of who it is. So I want to be
Starting point is 00:19:03 clear that if you are interested in being there, this is in New York City and Manhattan next, what is it, Wednesday? Do you have to look at the calendar? No, next Tuesday. Holy cow, next Tuesday. So eight days from today, I'm interviewing RFK Jr. at Socrates in the city. again, if you can get there, I think it's going to be kind of amazing. I've been preparing some questions which are unsettling even to me. I don't normally play the role of adversary, but I feel a duty to ask some tough questions. And I don't know if I'm going to be able to go in some of the directions that I'm able that I'm thinking about. But I do want to talk to him about the murder of his uncle and the
Starting point is 00:19:55 murder of his father. Some people know I interviewed Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of JFK. And I was clearly not invited to go in any of those directions with her. With him, he's talked about these things. I want to talk to him about that. But I want to say, folks, if you cannot be there in person, you can watch it live. And again, I promise you, it's going to be different than any Socrates interview I've ever done, probably different than any of you I've done, period, just because of who it is and the stakes what we're facing in this country. If you want to watch it live, you have to be a subscriber to Socrates Plus. You can't sign a bottle of cart and say, I want to watch this live. No, that's not an option. You have to already be a subscriber to Socrates Plus. I tell everybody on this,
Starting point is 00:20:47 in this radio audience, I recommend it. It's $5 a month. There's all kinds of stuff available. The live streams are just part of it. But Socrates Plus is available. You go to Socratesandcity.com. You sign up. Just this will be worth it, folks.
Starting point is 00:21:03 To watch this live next Tuesday night, which is June 25th. I want to recommend it. June 24th, the day before, is my mom's 90th birthday. So we're going to be here next weekend to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. Okay, so Chris, a couple things, other things that we should mention. We have our friends at Americans for Prosperity. No, no, I think we've already mentioned that. We'll mention that at the end of the hour because we only have a minute here.
Starting point is 00:21:43 I want to mention this week, I'm interviewing Candace Sowne's folks, this week. Stay tuned to this space. Candice Owens. Your podcast is out. It's number three on Spotify right now, which is nuts. We're interviewing Candace Owens. General Flynn will be in the studio this week. In the studio, General Flynn. We talked to him last week.
Starting point is 00:22:04 We're going to talk to him again this week. Lots of stuff to cover with him. I know I'm forgetting something. I guess I just, you know what it is. I'm preoccupied. because I still have deck staining to do. You know what I mean? As soon as this is all over, I've got to go stain some more deck.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Yeah, more doing. More doing the home. I got to assemble a table. Yeah, I didn't tell you about that. I bought a table. Last week, you and I were in Washington, D.C. We had to hang out with Bear Grills and some other amazing people. We were at the Museum of the Bible.
Starting point is 00:22:38 And if I ever need to be affirmed, all I need to do is go to the Museum of the Bible, go to the gift store. Yeah. To have the bookshop there. because people in that shop often will know me. Like if I want to go to a place where people will recognize me and say, are you Eric Mataxas? I need to go to the gift shop.
Starting point is 00:22:55 Yeah. You basically got the Taylor Swift treatment down there. It was impressive. It was, I mean, my gosh, what a blessing. What a blessing to meet these people. Okay, folks, when we come back talking to Orrin McIntyre, then we're talking to John Smirak. Don't say that you weren't worn.

Starting point is 00:25:22 Folks, welcome back as promised. We have today as my first guest, Orrin McIntyre in our two. We go to John Smirak. Prepare yourselves. But right now, we're going to ease you in with Orrin McIntyre. Orrin is the author of The Total State. Brand new book, The Total State. He's with the Blaze.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Oren, let's talk about the news of the day. There's a lot of cuckoo news. We have to process it with somebody who can help us process it. Where shall we start? Well, Joe Biden has put himself in a lot of hot water here recently. In addition to some pretty insane ideas about a new round of amnesty, he also wandered around on stage last night. It had to be brought over by Barack Obama or Barack Obama had to hold his hand and guide him offstage because he was just lost, staring into the crowd. And so it's pretty obvious to everyone that Joe Biden is not really the president of the United States.
Starting point is 00:26:19 he formally holds the title. He sits in the office, but he obviously does not have a cognitive capacity to operate as the chief executive in the United States. And it's very strange that as we head into an election, everyone, even those on the left, seems very aware of the fact that he's completely incapable of doing the job and therefore can't be doing the job. But we're going to keep pretending like he's the guy actually running for president. Actually, I'm going to give you my analysis. Forgive me, folks, if I have said this before, I can never remember to whom I've said what. But this is my analysis. Number one, just to get it out of the way, they stole the election.
Starting point is 00:26:56 So he was never the legitimate president. Every corrupt Democrat that participated in that is guilty, dramatically guilty, of violating the Constitution. Every rhino Republican that went along with it is guilty. And that's where you start. Then, okay, he goes to the White House, And we all know, not yesterday when he's wandering around the stage, we all knew from the beginning. He's not the real president, that we have some sham system where people behind the scenes are pulling the strings.
Starting point is 00:27:33 This is from day one this was going on. So why somebody didn't call him on the carpet or deal with that from the beginning? I don't know because they're, oh, well, we got Kamala Harris. We don't want her. frankly, I couldn't care less. Like if somebody is is perpetrating a fraud on the American people, and it's worse than a fraud, it's unconstitutional to have the guy in the White House who's called the president not actually behaving as the president, they ought to have raised hell on that from day one.
Starting point is 00:28:07 They didn't. So the years passed, and he becomes less and less capable. And so suddenly now everybody is saying, oh, my goodness. Oh, it's so terrible. It's so terrible. And I think to myself, okay, first of all, this game has been going on since day one. I mean, he has not been the president since day one. The whole thing is a sham.
Starting point is 00:28:29 So suddenly now, oh, it's really noticeable, which leads me to my conclusion. And I'm curious of what you think of this, Oren. But I believe that this has been going on for a number of months now where the left, the Democrats, the mainstream media, they're going along with the narrative, finally, that Biden is not capable. They're doing this on purpose. Why? Because they are going to, at the convention, sometimes soon, they're going to say, oh, by the way, we now, oh, we really care about America.
Starting point is 00:29:09 We really care. We need to put somebody in who can govern more effectively. and they're going to do something. But they're preparing everybody now, and all the conservatives and Republicans are falling into the trap. Like, oh, yes, he's cognitively impaired. We need to find somebody else. So we'll get Michelle Obama or Gavin or somebody.
Starting point is 00:29:28 But this idea that, like, now we're all upset that he is cognitively impaired. Again, I just find it a joke. I don't know who's been pulling the strengths for four years, but that's who the president is, not Joe Biden. And so my theory is that they're allowing this to be seen more and more and more. So much so that even the mainstream media is acknowledging it to set us up for, you know, for health reasons, because we don't want any more elder abuse. We're now going to take him out and we're going to replace him and, and I'm sorry. And the bottom line is because the poll numbers are so bad that let's let America see how terrible he is.
Starting point is 00:30:10 So they'll agree like it's the humane thing to do to replace him with somebody young and vigorous. who might actually beat Donald Trump? No, I think a lot of that is correct. You know, in my book, The Total State, I explain why I believe that ultimately our regime operates as a decentralized, bureaucratic oligarch operating under the auspices of wokeness as an ideology. And somebody like Biden is kind of the perfect chill for this. He's kind of the perfect avatar for this kind of zombie regime moving forward because
Starting point is 00:30:42 he obviously can't actually be held accountable for. anything, but we don't know who should be held accountable. And so they can do all these crazy things. They can make all these destructive policies. Everything gets dumped on the Biden, who clearly isn't the one actually doing this, but we don't know where else to look. And ultimately, he becomes a disposable tool of the regime. So you can go ahead, throw all this on him and then just go ahead and use him as a sacrificial goat for everything that's been done. You're exactly saying what I think is true. So we agree totally. Everything you just said, I think that that's exactly where we are. that, yes, he's the perfect avatar, as you put it, the perfect husk of humanity to trot out there
Starting point is 00:31:22 for whatever bureaucratic state is actually, you know, running things. And again, let's be clear. I think there are many Americans that there's kind of cynical, including many conservatives. We should be offended by this. We should act like we are 10-year-old Boy Scouts who believe in America, believe in the flag, who believe in the founder's vision. And we should be scandalized and offended by the idea of people cynically playing politics in this way. We should be offended. We should see it as what it is. It is evil. It is corruption. It is anti-American. It is unconstitutional. We should not say, well, that's politics. No, that's not politics. Not the United States of
Starting point is 00:32:06 America. We're not supposed to operate that way. You know what? I just realized we've got over time. We'll be right back. Don't go away. Welcome back to the Air from Texas show. Just got cut off there. Let me continue making the point that I was ranting against. I think it's important to frame this for my audience, because I often hear conservative just, you know, ranting and raving about, oh, Joe Biden is so incapacitated. And I think to myself, who cares? Like, the whole thing is a joke. They stole the election. He was never actually the president. There are other people behind him. So this idea that, well, let's be responsible. Let's get somebody in there who's not cognitively impaired. And I think we already have somebody in there.
Starting point is 00:33:00 It's Obama. It's Samantha Powers. It's Susan Rice. It's whoever is in there that is actually doing this. Orrin, let's just continue. We are seeing some things that I'm older than you. In my lifetime and in your lifetime, we've never seen anything like this. A level of chaos, a level of dysfunction, a level of cynicism, the desperation of the Biden administration. and we've got to put that in quotes. The desperation, I mean, what he just did, this amnesty stuff, this is an astonishing level of brokenness and corruption. The idea that he would just wave a wand and say that we're going to have amnesty. I mean, I've simply never seen anything that begins to look like the desperation that we're seeing.
Starting point is 00:33:59 among the Democrats. They know because of the polls that they couldn't be in bigger trouble. And they're just, I don't know, they're doing anything they can do. Unfortunately, democracy is a comically easy system to go ahead and manipulate if you are really dedicated to discrediting your institutions. And that's exactly what the Biden administration has committed itself to doing. They say, we're going to import hundreds of thousands, if not millions of voters every year. And eventually we'll demographically transform the United States, which means we will go ahead and change the voting patterns in the United States and assure ourselves victory. If we can't win the argument, if we can't actually get
Starting point is 00:34:36 votes inside the current population, we'll simply bring in a new population that will over generations go ahead and be loyal to us. And they don't really care about what they need to break in order to do that, because ultimately, as long as they have the votes, as long as they have the mass democracy, then all the mistakes they made, all the principles they violated, those can all be altered. Those can all be removed because they have this massive sledgehammer of the people, which is why we have to see changes made directly by GOP governors. We have to stop sitting around and pretending like we can continue to allow this to happen at the federal level and at some point they're just going to wave a wand and this is going to change.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Mass deportations are now very popular, even with many Democrats. There's over 60% interest in mass deportations in the United States. That is a sea change in the understanding of how we approach immigration policy. And yet, neither party is willing to talk about this. If we lived in an actual representative republic, we would see public opinion have some impact on what our elected officials are doing, but instead, the borders remain open. I want to reiterate to my audience. I wrote a book called If You Can Keep It. And in that book, one of the things that I discovered as I was writing it was that if we the people do not basically mostly believe in our institutions, everything falls apart. In other words, if your average American believes my vote probably doesn't count or might not
Starting point is 00:36:08 count, a cynicism enters that makes them pull back from the system that I am the government, we the people govern ourselves, we're free. If we the people have some cynicism about the bureaucracy that's running things in Washington, we pull back. It's vital that we believe in our institutions, that we shore up our institutions to make sure that basically they're doing their job. The Democrats have the exact opposite view. They are basically saying, which is what you just said, they're willing to burn it all down.
Starting point is 00:36:45 They don't care about whether cynicism comes in. And those that they're, you know, they're planting all these seeds about, oh, the Supreme Court is corrupt and politicized. They don't care, basically, if things fall apart. They don't care about the electoral college. They don't care about any of this. And so they are now playing the game where they're willing to burn it all down, willing to let in literally millions of strangers. They don't care if it breaks our social safety net system. They don't care if it destroys our economy.
Starting point is 00:37:24 They don't care if fentanyl destroys communities. They don't care. They're basically saying, yes, we want to burn it all down. We will remake it in our image. It will be a socialist, globalist-type state. It will no longer be the America that we have had bequeathed to us by the founders. That's the game that they're playing right now. And I just, I want my audience to understand.
Starting point is 00:37:50 understand this, that the level of cynicism, it's very, I mean, that's, cynicism is kind of a nice word for it. It's nealistic. It's demonic. It is, it is utterly destructive of this beautiful thing called the United States of America. I think that's exactly right. Ultimately, what they've done is they've turned these institutions from organizations that were meant to survey specific people and instead have used them to go ahead and dissolve that people in their own interest. And this is a real problem for conservatives because we do naturally want to maintain those institutions. We feel like they are the things that are inculcating the virtues and the identity, the traditions, the history that we should carry from one generation to the next. But when
Starting point is 00:38:30 these organizations, these institutions have been so thoroughly corrupted and turned basically into their evil opposite where they perpetuate this hatred for the country, the hatred for our religion, hatred for our people, then ultimately we have to do is once again find the courage to understand ourselves as a people. You can't have a shared idea. A shared idea. of the good, you can't have a shared moral vision. If you don't understand yourselves by your shared tradition, your shared history, your shared folkways, what makes you a people? And so ultimately, we need these institutions to serve the interests of Americans.
Starting point is 00:39:05 If they are constantly teaching everyone that they need to hate the color of their skin, they need to hate their religion, they need to hate their founding fathers, we need to tear down our heritage, then these things are enemies of the people that they are supposed to serve, not allies. And that's why many of the things that Donald Trump will probably have to do is unmake and remake some of these institutions from the ground up to make sure that they are oriented to our good. Folks, your assignment, get a copy of If You Can Keep It by Eric Metaxus. Get a copy of the Total State by Orrin McIntyre. We'll be right back.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Folks, welcome back in a minute. I continue my conversation with the great Orrin McIntyre. And after that, because you've been bad, and some of you, because you've been good, we'll have Johns Mearek on the program tomorrow. Our buddy Kevin McCullough, aka Votes for Damas. But before we go back to regular programming, let me say this. I'd like you to prepare yourselves for a cinematic revolution. Experience the power of patriotism with the relentless patriot hitting theaters nationwide,
Starting point is 00:40:54 brought to you by Global Ascension Studios, Hollywood's first ever conservative movie studio. Starting point is 00:41:17 Experience the impact of conservative storytelling with a relentless patriot only in theaters. Portions of the Air Contacts are brought to you in part by Global Ascension Studios and the relentless patriot. Chris, I've got to ask you some questions here. Did you know that, actually, you know what? Maybe I already covered this. Maybe I should switch to the other thing that I wanted to mention was. So no pop quiz, because I was concerned, actually.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I didn't study it. Actually, here's what I want to say. I just did a podcast with a young man. I think he's 18 years old. And he was just asking me, you know, I do a lot of podcasts. I'm promoting my book, Religionless Christianity and Letter to the American Church. And in the podcast, one of the things that I said was about homeschooling and how a lot of people are realizing, like, okay, I think now is the time we need to do homeschooling. You, Chris Himes, have done homeschooling.
Starting point is 00:42:21 You and your wife, Tiffany, have done homeschooling. A lot of people I know I've done homeschooling, but a lot of people that are nervous about. about it. They kind of think, I don't know if I could do that, which is at that moment is when I bring up the Herzog Foundation. Ladies and gentlemen, the Herzog Foundation exists to catalyze and accelerate the development of quality Christ-centered K-12 education. Their vision is for families and culture to flourish through quality Christian education, making the ecosystems of Christian education more accessible and sustainable families across the nation. Their mission will be lived out by providing programs such as online content, up-to-date news, training and events,
Starting point is 00:42:58 grants and hands-on organizational improvement initiatives. This includes homeschooling. So I bring this up just because I hope folks are thinking about this. If you want information, go to Herdsog Foundation.com. It's just a tremendous resource. Herzog. People, yeah. A lot of people are out there in these home-schooling groups. We're part of a larger co-op with other, you know, families. There's about 100 people that come. People are always worried about socialization. And they always say, oh, what to, you know. Oh, it's so stupid. The best socialized young people I've ever met are homeschooled. I mean, it's just a fact. So, so anyway, herdsug Foundation.com is the resource I recommend. Before we go to our break and come back with Orne McIntyre and get to Johns
Starting point is 00:43:48 Merrick, I also want to mention the folks at Americans for Prosperity. they're on the front lines fighting against the border crisis. Ladies and gentlemen, we talk about it on this program. I talked about it with Orrin McIntyre. I can't remember who I spoke about it to most recently because I'm talking about it all the time. I think it's clear that the politicians are not exactly going to solve this on their own. They're going to take, we need what's called good old fashioned grassroots activism.
Starting point is 00:44:18 That's what AFP specializes in. Americans for Prosperity Foundation has taken hundreds of, of concerned citizens to see the border for themselves. It's turned them into informed activists. Americans for prosperity knows just what we need. More border agents, more walls, more technology. Aren't you glad they get that? That's what makes them unique.
Starting point is 00:44:38 They do the work of organizing and mobilizing everyday Americans to make a difference on this and other subjects. They've just announced a major campaign to hold Biden and his allies accountable for the crisis at the border. You can learn more at SecureBorder. SecureAmerica.com. secure border secure america.com. We'll be right back.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Hey folks, welcome back. We come to that moment. It's rare, but it happens when I, Eric McTaxis, talk about money, economics, stuff like that. In order to help me do that, you know, I'm like a really tippy canoe, not good situation. We need some outriggers on the canoe. We turn to our friend Charles Thorngren with legacy precious metals. Charles, thank you for being the outriggers. on my tippy canoe.
Starting point is 00:45:30 I've never been called an hour ago before, but I'll take it. Very few people have. That's a high compliment. Believe me. You started legacy precious metals, and we're always talking with you about money and whatever. When we're talking about money in this day and age, most people know the economy, the level of inflation, it is absolutely. astonishing. Somebody sent me something today. McDonald's prices, 2019 versus today. I think chicken McNuggets have doubled in price. Not kidding. This is unbelievable. So talk about that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:46:18 I mean, you have a much better perspective on this than I. For me, it's utterly anecdotal. But what is your sense? inflation is an interesting thing. There's a lot of ways we can look at it, and we can take the superior talking points to someone who digs through CPI reports and congressional actions based on money. We can talk about the printing of money and giving it away as a cause for inflation.
Starting point is 00:46:45 You know, the economy is one pie, and the more pieces you cut, the smaller it gets for everybody. We can talk about the amount of debt that's coming back because the United States has shown the inability to manage its debt and its economy. By that, I mean, you know, China, just selling back $55 billion of U.S. debt. Now, because of what's going on with us in China and tariffs and things,
Starting point is 00:47:09 they had to do so through an intermediary, Belgium. So what Belgium went and did is if China is doing $55 billion, let me put $22 billion of our U.S. debt that we own into that market space as well. So you look at that action, and the United States has one course of action. we have to buy that debt back to protect our rating, to protect our dollar, to protect our economy. So this is all inflationary too. This is creating more money because that's what the Federal Reserve has to do to buy that debt back. They have to create the dollars to pay China and to pay Belgium now for the debt that they sold.
Starting point is 00:47:47 This is inflationary because our economy is a set number. And we're creating more dollars based on the money. the income we draw in. Effectively, we owe more than we make as a country. If it were you and I, Eric, we would be bankrupt. That's the big term for it. And these are the big economic talking points about it. But here's the reality.
Starting point is 00:48:13 It costs us more to live the life we're supposed to live. And that's what matters to everyone. It costs me more to feed my family. It costs me more to get to work. it costs me more to do everything I need to do in my life and in the society because of inflation. Now, inflation is considered to be a naturally occurring event. In the government's eyes, some inflation is good. It makes borrowing money easier as the cost of money when you repay it back 30 years from now seems a little less heavy. But this amount of inflation for this long
Starting point is 00:48:51 of a period of time is never good. And we see that. that because now we know that money everyone saved up is now gone. And we see that in the credit card debt. It's the largest credit card debt we've ever had. It's trillions of dollars. And we know that the payments aren't being made. There's more late payments now on credit, whether it be in cars, whether it be in even corporate, you know, commercial real estate. People are late to pay their bills because there's no money. We have to use that money to survive, defeat our family, to glow their family. So this is the inflation that we're talking about. And this is the inflation that matters to us. We could talk the big talk about GDP and all that. The reality is the economy is not
Starting point is 00:49:39 good. It costs us more to survive. If the economy is not good to things we invest in normally, equities, things like this, those companies are going to have a loss. They're not going to be profitable. That means the money that you've saved in those realms is going to be at risk. And this is the thing that's worrisome. We have to worry about paying our bills in surviving until a change can happen. And we need to worry about the money that we've put aside to retire. And both of these are at risk.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Is the idea that every dollar I've saved is worth less and less over time? Absolutely. It's worth pennies. That's sick. That's sick, which brings us obviously to why people want gold and silver. But I mean, it's amazing to me how true this has become. The idea that I save a dollar and that dollar is worth much less than it was five minutes ago.
Starting point is 00:50:39 I mean, it's almost crazy not to be invested in gold and silver at that point. something that holds its value, I guess, is my larger point. But it just seems, I mean, it seems sort of obvious, but it also seems amazing to me that you could save money and that it's like going through your fingers like sand because of the inflation. And that's, that's the terrifying part about it. Like you said, we talk about, you know, the McDonald's, the chicken and big nuggets, doubling in price. This is in four years time. So if you think about that as a person who's getting ready to retire. You came up with that number and said, once I get here, I can live my life the way I want to. I've worked all my life to get to this day. I'm going to go sit on the
Starting point is 00:51:26 beach. I'm going to go and play golf. I'm going to go and do whatever I want to do. And I had this number in my head that I need to make that happen. If you have prices double in four years, that number no longer matches. Your retirement is at risk. Your well-being's at risk. And this is why we look to alternative investments. And this is why gold and silver has become the investment that people look to. And it's performed as such. And this is why you take a basis of it and protect it. It's why I'm talking to you. I don't want to forget to mention legacy pminvestments.com. Is that the best website, Charles? It's the best website. Legacy pm.investments.com. Folks, if you want to move your money over into something more stable, like the outriggers on my canoe, make me stable.
Starting point is 00:52:20 LegacyPM investments.com. It's just become much more obvious to me why this is a good idea. It's kind of basic. So folks, check out LegacyPMinvestments.com. PM stands for precious metals. Legacy p.m.investments.com. I'm Charles Thorngren. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Pleasure as always.
