Welcome to the Eric Metaxis show.
Did you ever see the movie The Blobs starring Steve McQueen?
The blood-curdling threat of The Blob.
Well, way back when Eric had a small part in that film,
but they had to cut his scene because the blob was supposed to eat him.
But he kept spitting him out.
Oh, the whole thing was just a disaster.
Anyway, here's the guy who's not always that easy to digest.
Eric the Texas!
Welcome back.
I continue my conversation with Beatty Carmichael.
The book is The Prayer of Freedom.
So this is wonderful to talk about generally,
but specifically, what always amazes me,
and this is kind of how God has made me,
to kind of think, you know, well, this has always been true.
Why isn't this more known?
Again, I have the privilege of being friends with people
who move in this kind of stuff,
but so many people don't know about this.
There are plenty people out there praying for healing who know what you're talking about.
What is it?
Why do you think God called you to write this book?
I mean, it's not as if there are no books on this or there's no, but what do you suppose is going on here?
I can only surmise.
I don't know God's thinking on this.
This has been known for years, but not in the Protestant church.
the Catholic Church have what's called a healing mass, and all it is is a period of confession, and people get healed.
You see this in, I think, in some of the Orthodox Christian religions.
So it's not new, it's only new to us Protestants, because we have our doctrines and we say, this is all it is, and it fits in a box.
I think what God is doing right now for me is he is using me to expose the simplistic message
that has been hidden in plain sight throughout Scripture from Old Testament all the way into the New Testament,
that sin creates consequence. If you turn away from sin, the consequence gets removed. That's the basic message.
And he commands to repent, repent, repent all the way through Scripture. So we're just blind and haven't seen it
because we think that because I believed in Jesus, I now got my ticket to heaven and the abundant life comes in heaven.
as opposed to on earth.
Well, yeah.
I mean, in my book,
Letter to the American Church,
I talk, there's a chapter called the idol of evangelism,
and I was thinking about this even last night,
that we have so focused on evangelism,
which of course is incredibly important,
but if you focus on that expense of everything,
then everything is just,
are you saved, not saved, saved, save, not saved,
and nothing else matters.
And what you're saying is,
all the people who have accepted Jesus,
who are saved, who are going to heaven, they've acted like they're done.
And God says, the Bible says, no, you're not done.
You're still here.
And I would like you to repent of any sins of which you have not actively, explicitly
repented because I want to bring healing and abundance.
And a lot of people simply don't know that.
Now, one question that follows from this, Beatty, what I was wondering about,
about because when you brought up a little while ago, this young man, Josh, he was unaware of unrepented sin.
And I think there are a lot of people walking around, probably I am among them, who cannot, I can't think of a sin that I haven't repented of.
I've been through prayers like this with people like you.
I've been through this.
And so I think, like, haven't I repented of everything?
How does that work?
You know?
Yeah.
There's just a lot of things we don't recall and a lot of things that we brush under the rug, so to speak.
Things, a lot of things that happen in early childhood that we'd say, well, that's just a long time ago.
Some things today that we hold unforgiveness towards someone and we don't really think about it as a sin.
There's, you know, from God's standard, it's purity.
and from our standards it's good enough.
And I think that's where we miss it
because we think that God grades the way
that we think he ought to,
but he grades differently.
That's the really bottom line.
I think what's interesting, too,
your comment about evangelism.
So evangelism is giving birth.
That's all it is.
If you think about human,
we give birth and then we raise our children to adulthood
so they can now be good active producing adults.
If all we did,
is gave birth and abandoned the baby. That does no good. Jesus didn't say go out and evangelize.
Jesus said, go and make disciples. And a disciple, Luke 640, said, the disciple is not above the
teacher, but when fully trained, becomes like the teacher. And that's the goal is to become like
the teacher. The teacher was without sin. Job was called blameless by God because he
repented of his sin all the time, so he had no sin to be, to where Satan could accuse.
him. That's why Satan was all so upset a guy.
He said, you put a hedge around Job, you won't let me attack him.
There's nothing that Satan could accuse Job.
And I think that's where God wants us to be, to be blameless, where there is nothing
to be blamed, just like my son.
When he pleaded the blood of Jesus, he couldn't be blamed on those sins.
It's interesting that so many churches do not get near this stuff.
and this is to me the horror.
There's so many, many churches.
They just don't go.
I mean, I grew up in the Greek Orthodox Church.
Nobody in the world in which I grew up knows the slightest thing about any of this stuff.
And it makes me angry because I think all of these people, they're not hostile to God,
but they're not being taught.
Now, that's the tradition in which I grew up.
And of course, there are many Greek Orthodox that know all about this stuff.
but I didn't bump into any of them growing up.
Obviously, in the Protestant evangelical church,
there are many churches that they're hostile to this.
If you say, I want to teach this in our church,
they are really not interested.
And they will say what you were talking about earlier.
They say, no, we don't believe that.
We believe that, you know, when you're saved,
the Holy Spirit comes in, you're cleaned out, you're done.
You're saying, no, that's not biblical.
That's absolutely not biblical.
That's exactly what I'm saying.
what God's been showing me. He says, because people aren't repenting, that's why they live in
conflict, divorce, and mental health issues, all kinds of chronic pain, their jobs keep failing.
Anytime you see a pattern and it keeps repeating in some form, there's almost always a spiritual
root, and that spiritual root is always tied to an unrepented sin. You want to get rid of it,
you find the sin and repent of it. My dog... So somebody says,
okay, I'm a Christian, but I guess you're, this gets a little complicated, but there are people who have chronic
problems, and you're saying the first thing to do is to see, is there any sin of which I have not
repented? In fact, I think there are many people even who would say, well, I don't know that it is
sin. Is it sin to sleep with somebody outside of marriage? That's an easy.
one, folks. Yes, it is. That's called sin. That's really easy. Sleeping with anyone outside of marriage is sin. So you say,
well, we got married eventually. Well, I don't care and God doesn't care because before you got married,
you slept with that person. So you have to repent of that. Marriage doesn't wash it away.
that's just kind of an example, I think, that people have kind of slough things off and they move on dragging these chains.
You know, it's interesting. Let me just share a couple of stories because this will probably articulate it.
A lady named Susan came up to me. She was at the Addiction Recovery Center and asked if I would pray for her because her rheumatoid arthritis of 20 years was acting up.
And as I was about to pray, God prompted me to ask her, do you have unforgiveness for anyone?
She said yes. I said, who is it? She says, my sister, 20 years ago, did something against my mother.
I said, would you be willing to forgive her? She said, yes. Watch this. She had unforgiven her for years. And now,
simply by asking, she said, yeah, I'll forgive. So she said, I forgive my sister for whatever it was.
And then we said, Lord, please take away this arthritis pain. Within an hour, it was completely gone.
Four weeks later, she went back to the doctor. He retested her. She had no arthritis in her.
body and her body showed no signs of ever having had arthritis.
No other lady was dealing with...
Actually, hold on, Betty, because we're going to go to another break here.
But folks, do you think Beatty's making this up?
You think maybe he's lying to sell books?
I don't think so.
I don't think so.
The book is the prayer of freedom.
Praise God that these things are true.
Praise God that God wants us to have access to him to repentance.

Welcome back talking to Beatty Carmichael.
The book is the Prayer of Freedom.
And Beatty, I'm excited about people getting excited about what we're talking about,
because this will lead to revival.
If people start getting miraculously healed like you're talking about,
this will lead to revival.
And we need more of this.
I mean, again, I've had Ken Fish on the program,
but not everybody can get to a Ken Fish conference.
He's got one in October in the Nashville area.
I can't get to it.
What you're saying is that we don't necessarily need to do that,
that sometimes we can do these things on our own.
But I mean, a lot of people just don't have the spiritual maturity to do this.
I mean, you're talking about hearing from God,
or you're talking about some things that I think in most cases people can do it.
Yeah, so if you can paint by numbers, Eric, you can go through the prayer of freedom.
Because what I've done, my skill set in business, you're asking earlier what I do.
My skill set in business is creating standard operating procedures to automate systems, human systems,
where someone goes through a list, a checklist, and when you go through that list, everything runs perfectly.
So that's what the prayer of freedom is.
It's a checklist.
Like, everyone that you've slept with outside of marriage put their name down.
Anyone that you have a grudge against, put their name down, okay?
So it's just a checklist of things that's easy for anyone to say, I remember that.
And then it's a process of how do you actually say, I confess and repent that it was wrong?
Sometimes it's a breaking of an unholy soul tie.
Sometimes it's a renouncing of an agreement.
But whatever it is, it's truly step by step.
So no one has to have any spiritual authority or spiritual maturity to do this.
it's literally do it all on your own.
That's what makes it so effective.
But we deal with issues that are long-term issues,
and we've been praying to God saying,
please remove this, and he doesn't.
And we must think that it's God's will
because 1 John 5 says,
if you pray according to his will and he doesn't end,
and if he hears you, he'll answer it.
But maybe his will is a higher will
that you actually repent to that sin.
I remember another lady,
she had neuropathy for 15 years,
it was zero to eight
I mean zero to ten it was an eight
and in three minutes it was totally gone
all it was was forgiving somebody
from 15 years ago
you start to see this pattern my own daughter
had night terrors for 20 years
at 23 she said dad would you help me get rid of it
I said sure pretty easy
now she'd been praying and praying and praying nothing happens
I said once the first time you remember getting afraid
she said it was three years old watching psych with my cousin
okay so let's repeat
repent of being afraid watching psych.
Let's break on holy soul ties with the cousin
in case there's something in the spiritual realm
there. Hang on watching what?
Syke, the TV series.
I'm supposed to be aware of that, baby?
No, no, no, but for a little girl...
The TV series called Syke, is that right?
That's it.
Okay, so you're saying your daughter remembered that...
Okay, I just want to be clear, because I didn't know what that was.
Yeah, it always freaked her out.
And so I literally, in about three minutes,
God, I repent of being afraid watching psych.
I break all unholy soul ties with my cousin in case there is something negative there.
And then spirit of fear, I command you out.
She hadn't had night terrors ever since.
Addictions are the same way.
One lady smoking three packs of cigarettes a day.
She couldn't stop.
She went through deliverance and still had addiction.
She came across a pastor to understand this.
He said, well, when was the first time you started smoking?
Who taught you to smoke?
She said, it was my 10-year-old baby.
She taught me how to smoke and gave me my first pack. So she repented of that moment,
broke the unholy soul tie with a babysitter, and she walked out of the pastor's office, never
smoking again. That's how quickly these things can happen. Once you understand where the root is,
or how to identify the root, which is what my prayer of freedom step-by-step guide is all about,
then these things will instantly go. That's what's happening at the addiction recovery center
when people are getting free of all their stuff. They're just making a law. They're just making a
list and praying through it and it's gone.
Have you done a lot of public speaking about the book?
How has it been going?
Because this is, you know, this is a big deal what we're talking about here.
It's a real big deal.
You're my 90th show so far.
And my first 80 of them were small shows as I kind of worked out the kinks and now moving
into larger shows to get the message out.
Well, I don't know if I mentioned it.
You said you're in Birmingham, Alabama.
It is my friend Larry Taunton who has been on this show many times who recommended that I have you on.
And of course, there are people like Larry in my life.
If he says to have somebody on, I'd be like, thank you very much.
And I am very grateful to him for introducing us.
Now, again, a lot of what you're saying is not new to me.
I hope it's new to many in my audience.
But what is new, I think, is what you were saying, how you're saying,
how you in your professional life, you were, you systematized things.
You made systems.
You made it easy for people.
And that's kind of what's going on here.
In other words, like there's all this stuff out there.
But how do I do it?
How do I?
I mean, I have had people, I had somebody, it's got to be 15 years ago, come to my home
and to pray for deliverance for me for all kinds of stuff.
And he had, you know, like a checklist of things.
And we, you know, have you done this?
Have you done, you have any Masonic ties in your family?
Do you have any this?
Do you have any da-da-da-da-da.
And I have done that a couple of times.
So I think I have been through everything.
I still have struggled with depression and with chronic fatigue issues.
I know that I have Lyme issues.
I have Epstein-Barr issues.
I know that the COVID antibodies that becomes an issue for people.
And so I'm one of those people.
I just, I really do think, I think I've repented of everything.
I mean, I, you know, I've been through Ken Fish in the room in which I'm sitting right now, Ken Fish prayed for me.
He's prayed for me many times.
And so it is a bit of a conundrum to me why I don't get full healing that the health stuff that I have had.
It is a bit of a conundrum.
So I don't want people to think that this is so simple.
But I think in many cases it is simple.
I think, for example, if you say to somebody like, hey, you know, you're really not feeling well, let's have a conversation.
You go, oh, you're smoking two packs a day.
Well, how about you quit smoking?
Like if you start there, I'll bet you'll feel a lot better or you're eating unhealthy stuff or you're not to exercise.
There are basic things.
And I do think part of what you're talking about is that in the church, there are tons of people walking around with this baggage.
but they're not aware that they're walking around with this baggage.
They're not aware that they've got all this unconfessed sin, that they haven't repented.
They're not aware.
And what you're doing, trying to do, is to help them become aware because it is God's will that they get free.
Yes.
And most people are not aware.
And their biggest thing when they go through this is they see all these things change in their lives that they didn't realize should not have been there.
lack of sleep,
restless leg,
all kinds of anxiety,
just a little OCD type of things,
and it just disappears and they go,
oh my gosh,
it's gone.
And their life has changed
and they're feeling this change.
On my website,
the prayer of freedom book.com,
there's a number of testimonials
that I have, the video testimonials,
and I'll ask most of them,
what's your walk with the Lord?
Like, how has this improved it?
And Moseson said,
it's increased
it by 100 to a thousand times.
Those are their words.
Basically what it means is when you get the sin out of your life, all the veils and all of the
blockages to really have intimacy with the Lord disappear because all those, these demonic
type torments, they're trying to keep you from walking with the Lord from doing his calling
and from serving him.
So when you get those things out of your life, you start to hear the Lord more clearly.
you start to have no junk in your life, no issues, no junk, no attacks, no, I mean, it's just like
everything is peaceful, clean. This is what Jesus says about abundant life. And as they start to
experience from one end to the other having gone through this, it becomes really noticeable. And they
had no clue that any of these things they did were since or that it really mattered. And it really
does. Now you said this is like your 90th interview. So let me then give you a critique.
You should have mentioned the website five times by now.
The website is the prayer of freedombook.com.
So the book is the prayer of freedom.
The website, folks, which you can go to write the second, is the prayer of freedom book.
And what is at that website?
So it's a direct link to Amazon to get the book.
So you get the right book.
There's a lot of books on prayer and freedom.
But most importantly, there is just more information, testimonials.
If you have any doubt, you just want encouragement.
You'll see people getting rid of all kinds of mental illness symptoms,
from diabetes and sleep apnea to ADHD and chronic pain.
One lady, this is real interesting.
When you start to deal with these spiritual roots,
you'll see miraculous recovery, not just in those type of things,
but literally physical healings.
One of the ladies who'll see there, she was at the addiction recovery center.
Three years earlier, she had a car accident, hit the windshield,
She broke her AC and her shoulder bones.
But because she had no insurance,
they just gave her sling and said,
good luck.
So it healed wrong.
Then she gets the recovery center.
They have insurance.
So the orthopedic surgeon gets involved.
He drills the bones apart.
Okay, okay.
This is called a cliffhanger, folks.
When we come back, we'll find out what happened.
Don't go away.
Talking to Beatty Carmichael,
the book is the prayer of freedom.
You were just talking about this woman now.
So she goes,
how does she break her arm?
How does she harm?
So she had a car accident while she was an addict, right?
She has no insurance.
She hits the windshield, breaks her AC and her shoulder bone.
And so because she had no insurance,
they just gave her a sling and said, good luck.
So now it heals broken.
She gets to the addiction recovery center where I teach three years later.
And they take her to the orthopedic surgery.
surgeon. He says, I can fix it, but it's going to be invasive. He drills through the bones,
breaks them apart, resets them, and on the right shoulder, there's his bones sticking up right
here. And she's now in my class four weeks post-operation. So swollen, painful, immobilized in a
sling. And I lead her along with everyone else, and just I call it a simplistic prayer, is at the end of
chapter one with my book and I and it takes all about five minutes maybe eight and then I said I was asking
her specifically how does your arm feel she said I don't have any pain and she starts moving it around
and her friend who took her to the doctor couldn't believe it because it was zero to 10 it was a 10
just a moment ago and then I said lift your left arm up and get the range of motion now lift your right
arm up and see how far she can do. And she could lift both arms, the same range of motion,
rotating them, but back and forth. She takes off the sling that was completely instantaneously
healed. Even that bone that was sticking up went back down. She went back to the doctor two weeks
later for her six-week checkup. He's blown away. He's a Christian surgeon, but he said, I've never
seen this before. She was totally and miraculously healed. And I see this frequently, Eric, when the
issue that you're dealing with has a spiritual root of sin somewhere, then whatever is the causation
of that issue will usually be totally reversed. I've seen that happen with this. I've seen
it happen with hips that needed hip replacement totally healed. I've seen ligaments totally healed.
I've seen all kinds of things simply by leading people into confessing their sins. And it's,
it's dramatic. I used to get excited watching miracles, and now they're happenstance, and I go,
oh yeah, well, that's the way it always works. It doesn't surprise me, but it surprises them.
How is this being received in the megachurch that you said you used to go to, or do you still go there?
So when I first started, this will give you an understanding. When I first started praying for people
for healing, God healed them. I went to my pastor, the senior pastor, and he said, well, you know,
Satan can heal too. And then I went to.
my next senior pastor because I didn't like that answer.
Say, hey, God's healing.
A third of the people as I prayed for him.
You said, well, you know, Satan can heal too.
So I'm no longer at that church.
I mean, it just is so disgusting to me.
Yeah.
These are churches, folks, with people who supposedly know the Bible and on some
fundamental things, they are ignorant.
And to be ignorant, you know, it's to be unbiblical.
This is unbiblical teaching.
that you get when somebody says something like that.
What a crime. What a horrible thing.
What a sad thing. But praise the Lord,
you know, maybe on this radio program,
people who go to churches like that will hear the good news
of what Jesus would like to do.
I think I still come back to this issue of people.
I know people who are very serious Christians
who I don't know, you know,
who have prayed and prayed
and not been healed or whatever.
And in other words, the one difficulty for me
is that these people have unrepentant sin
because I think that if they could be made aware of it,
that they would repent.
Yes.
So that's the tough part for me,
is to try to understand that.
That's really my main message.
For those people like I was, right?
You don't think about unrepentant sin
because your sins have been forgiven completely.
And we pass over all the passages in the Bible where it says to repent, to believers,
where it says to ask God to forgive you your sins as your believer.
And we pass over it because we don't understand it and we just never give it any thought.
And it's been hidden in plain sight.
God's trying to give us a wake-up call and say, hey, if you want to get rid of these things,
stop petitioning me, simply come to my courtroom and please.
lead the blood of Jesus, you know, repentance, and do what I say in James 516.
Confess your sins, and you shall be healed for the prayers of a righteous person, effective much.
Right? It's all right there.
So is this, in other words, let somebody, somebody got saved a long time ago, and they're walking with the Lord,
and they love the Lord, and they're not in sin.
But is it possible that you're saying, it seems to me, that maybe,
they need to go back and specifically repent of things they did before.
Yeah.
So one of the ladies I worked with was a 73-year-old missionary on crew staff for 50 years.
Ben in the field loves the Lord.
She's in a wheelchair for 11 years.
Her name is Francille.
And I got involved, and I started before I had systematize it through the prayer
of freedom process, I was just going through.
the simple questions like the guy asked you at, you know, 15 or 20 years ago at your house.
And I was asking her, have you had sex outside of marriage? No. Do you have unforgiveness for anyone?
No. Have you ever played in the occult? No. Have you ever taken a secret oath? And then she said,
the Lord just brought to my mind in high school. She said, I was involved with rainbow girls,
which is the junior version of Eastern Star, which is the female version of Freemasonry.
And so I led her to repent of whatever secret oath she
took in high school over 50 years ago when she did that pain instantly left she was able to get it
out of the wheelchair with zero pain she was in the wheelchair because of the pain in her foot so even those
who live a great righteous Christian life something from your past can still be if it's unrepented
we're going to go to a break final segment coming up talking to ken baidie sorry ken baitie
talking to baidie car michael not ken fish the book is the prayer of freedom
Welcome back. We're talking to Beatty. Carmikel, the book is the prayer of freedom. It's a really wonderful, exciting conversation because I think there's so many people that want freedom. They want freedom and they haven't been aware. They haven't been taught in their churches of what is totally biblical, what you're talking about here. And again, you've systematized it. So maybe they've heard about it, but they don't know how to.
do it. And in your book, which they can find at the website, the prayer of freedombook.com,
hopefully they can get freedom. So you were, you were talking again about people who,
I think part of what's happening here is it seems like we have to pray and ask the Lord to bring
these things to our mind. Yes. Because we're walking around, but it's not like some heavy load of
sin that's there and we know what it is. It sounds like many people, they're unaware.
They're unaware. That's the big issue. And what makes the step-by-step guide in my book,
the prayer of freedom, so simple, is there's 18 different categories, and they're used as
memory joggers. So like you would say, Lord, if there's anyone I need to forgive, even from early
childhood, bring them to my mind now. And you just kind of go quiet and you make a list of anything
that pops into your mind. So you're focused in that one category. Then the next one is a different
category and then the different category. So when you can zoom in on a category and ask the Lord to
bring to your mind, I have found that God wants you free. Just like with Ken Fish, when he prays
for someone, he will say, God, show me the source of this issue. And over time, the Lord will reveal a
source because he wants that person free. It doesn't take a Ken Fish and it doesn't take a Beatty
Carmichael with a gift of healing to bring healing to your life. All it takes is the right process.
Ask the Lord to reveal and go through these categories and you'll just make this list of sins that
you've not repented of. You start to repent of them following this process and all these things
melt away from your life. That's what makes it so easy. Step by step. Anyone can do it.
Well, it's exciting. Now, do you say that, did you say that you teach regularly on this in the Birmingham
area? I do. I teach at the addiction recovery center, but I stopped teaching the process. I give them
the book because I want them to understand. It has nothing to do with me. It's the book. It's the
process. So they do it entirely on their own. Then they end up will get books for their friends and family
and their friends and families set them get free. You mentioned Larry Taunton. After going through this,
he said, I want to do this for my children and grandchildren. I mean, the average person,
who goes through this, ends up buying three to five books to give away to their loved ones
because of the impact that's made in their lives. So it's not me. I don't want to be remembered.
I just want people to go through the process because it's straight from the Bible. Confess your
sense and here's how to do it. And then here's how you get, and you get free. Are you ever amazed
that the Lord would use you in this way? And are you ever amazed that, I mean, that somebody didn't
write a book like this 40 years ago, 50 years ago? You know, it's a lot. It's a man. It's a man. You know,
a strange thing. It is. I'm thrilled that he used me. I don't know why he chose me, but I feel a great
sense of burden responsibility because of it. I mean, to the point, I've literally abandoned my
business to focus only on this. And Lord said, I'll take care of you. Don't worry about the
business. I said, yes, sir. So here I am. I mean, look, what's more important than this? I can't
think of anything. This is an astonishing thing. And again,
Again, it's not like there's anything particularly new, but I mean, I find the same thing in my own life that there may be something true, but if nobody knows that it's true, I have to write a book and I have to push the book out there because it doesn't matter that it's simply true. It's that nobody knows it's true. So God wants truth to get out to everybody. And so it's, you know, I wrote a book called Is Atheism Dead about scientific evidence for God? And the evidence for God. And the evidence for, you know, I wrote a book called, is atheism dead? And so it's, you know, I wrote a book called, is atheism dead,
atheism dead about scientific evidence for God. And the evidence for God from science is so
overwhelming. It's mind-blowing, mind-blowing. But I hadn't known most of it. And I know that most
Christians that I know don't have a clue. And so then, of course, non-Christians don't have the
beginning of the beginning of a clue. And so I thought, okay, so this is true. And somehow God,
in his economy, he chose now for me to write the book to get it out there.
We're making a TV series.
But you say, well, Lord, why didn't you do this 100 years ago?
Why didn't you do this 50 years ago?
And that's the mystery.
You know, why did the Reformation happen 500 years ago and not, you know, 2,000 years ago?
Why did America come into being in 1776?
And why didn't we have the kind of liberties that we have in this country?
Why didn't we have that, you know, all of this stuff.
That's the mystery to me, that God works things out in history and his timing.
And it doesn't really make sense to us, but God's ways are not our ways.
And so it is what you're talking about is biblical, but the reality is that it hasn't been available to many people.
Right.
And now it is if we can get the message out.
Well, listen.
If I can get the message out.
If people experience this.
Now, I hope that there are many people listening to this program who will get the book, and they will pray these prayers, and they will have.
And to us at this program, you can reach me at my website, Ericmetaxis.com, because I'm interested in hearing about this, because I do think that if people find healing, find freedom, find anything we're talking about, it really.
does lead to revival because they start telling people, listen, I've got the secret.
Jesus is the answer, his blood is the answer, but here's what you have to do. It's not just
that simple because Jesus, people, what is the term? Somebody's felt need. You know, if somebody's
walking around with problems, that can lead them to Jesus because I say, I want relief from
this problem and the problem will lead them to God.
who has the answers for them.
So that's part of what's going on.
We've just got 30 seconds left.
Final thoughts, Beatty.
Yeah, just a little bit of playoff of that.
God says, if my people who will call by my name will repent and turn to me, I will heal their land.
I think what God really wants to do, and I think what the prayer of freedom can do is to heal
nations as people repent and get healed themselves.
So,
beautiful.
We're going to leave it there.
The book is the prayer of freedom by Beatty Carmichael.
You can find it and other things at the prayer of freedombook.com.
That's the prayer of freedom book.
com.
I'm going to be going there right away.
Beatty Carmichael, thank you so much.
Thank you.
We're launching a segment here.
Actually, we've done it in the past, but we haven't done it enough.
And I want to do it regularly.
The segment is called English is a first language.
If English is your first language,
I would argue that you're responsible for speaking English reasonably correctly.
And this segment is designed to help you do just that.
It's not designed to shame you.
We're not going to lay any shame on you.
We just want to help you to speak English correctly and have fun to think about what you're saying,
not to just kind of go with the flow, but actually to think like, I want to speak correctly.
And it can be fun.
Trust me.
Okay.
So a few that I've shared in the past, which I should touch on, these are really like my bug bears for me, that they drive me crazy.
When people misuse the word home and hone, right?
Hone is like a wet stone.
If you're sharpening a knife, you hone the blade down.
You hone it down.
So if you home in on a target, you're going home.
A homing pigeon goes home.
A bomb homes in on the target.
Home in.
Hone in is wrong.
If anyone ever says hone in, it's wrong.
So you feel free to cringe.
You don't have to correct them, but don't you say hone in.
Hone in is always wrong.
It's home in.
We home in.
we hone an argument down, like you hone a blade down to sharpen it, to sharpen the argument.
I hone it down.
You hone down your argument.
That's number one.
Number two, another word, it's not a word.
When people say, irregardless, that is not a word.
The word is regardless.
If you say irregardless, that's just bad.
Please don't do that.
Please, I'm asking you nicely, please don't say irregardless.
It's just horrible.
It's a non-word.
The word is regardless.
And if you don't want to say regardless, don't.
But definitely don't say irregardless.
Finally, and this is something I could go on for days about this, people constantly, this is a new thing.
I've noticed this in the last few years, constantly misuse the word literally.
Literally means literally.
In other words, I say, it blew my mind.
literally. Okay, if you say it blew your mind literally, it means that your mind was literally
exploded. Obviously, that you can't say that, right? So if you say the, you know, the wind literally
tore the trees out of the ground, it means the trees actually genuinely, literally were torn out of
the ground. You're not speaking metaphorically or hyperbolicly. If you're saying, you know,
the wind practically tore the trees out of the ground, but not literally. And it was literally,
means it actually has to happen, literally has to do with the words themselves have meaning.
So literally always has to mean the exact thing.
Now I wish I had better examples.
We're going to come back to this in a future segment of English as a first language.
In closing, let me say, people often say, we waited with bated breath.
This is a spelling issue, but bated is not B-A-I-T-E-D.
baited breath. It's we waited with baited breath, B-A-T-E-D, abated. To abate is to, you know,
to hold, like with held breath, I held my breath. So we waited with bated breath. Abated breath means
I held my breath. So it's just nice to know what words actually mean. I think it helps. So
baited breath. And then finally, I'll say the phrase, to wreck havoc is the right word.
I'm sorry, to wreck havoc is often said it's wrong.
The real phrase is to wreak havoc, wreak havoc, not wreck havoc.
I'm afraid we're out of time.
I hope these hints and tips have been helpful.
God bless you.
