Folks, welcome to the Eric Mattaxas show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals.

That's legacy p.m. Investments.com.
Welcome to the Eric Mataxis show. It's a nutritious smoothie of creamy, fresh yogurt,
vanilla, vanilla, and a mushy banana for your mind? Drink it all down. It's nummy.
I wub, vanilla. I wub, I wub, vanilla.
Here comes Eric Metaxus.
Yousa, Yousa, Yousa.
Hey there, Chris Heims.
Today's a big day for both of us.
Yeah, big day.
Why is it a big day?
It is a big day, ladies and gentlemen,
because this is the last chance I get to tell you
that tomorrow,
February 8th,
is the launch of letter to the American church,
the film.
Today is the last day you can pre-order the film.
Today is the last day I can tell you to pre-order the film.
After today, you're just going to order it,
and that's not the same as pre-ordering it.
I really, I want to be clear, if I haven't been crystal clear,
we need your help to launch this.
You've heard me over the months talk about the subject of letter
to the American church, interview people,
on the same subject, talk about it.
Even if I'm not talking about the book,
I'm talking about the idea of where we are in the nation
and the state of the church.
And my book, Letter to the American Church,
was written to wake up the church.
And we have a study guide with it.
If you order the book, you can order the study guide with it
to study it in a small group.
And I hope you will.
but tomorrow the film version, Letter to the American Church, is launched.
We need your help with the launch.
So let me say that letter to the American church.com is the website where you can find
everything related to the film.
We have, I think, a hundred or more churches now signed up.
to do free screenings, but that's a drop in the bucket.
I know that many, many, many, many churches, including your churches, will be doing
free screenings. As soon as we have the information, we will put it up on the website,
letter to the American church.com, because we want this message to go far and wide.
But we need your help in launching this tomorrow.
So you can get the DVDs that.
Now, you can get it.
You can download it and watch it on your computer, obviously.
If you go to Letter the American Church.com, you can see it there.
But if you feel like, no, I'd like the DVD, that's available.
Chris Heimes, you made that possible.
Did you not?
I did.
I did.
There were some digital Ruppel Stiltskins that are still burning, you know, they're still burning the DVDs as we speak.
They'll be ready in a week or so, but you can order them today.
So that's up.
Are they made in a cauldron?
Is that the idea?
Or did Rumpel Stiltskin actually know?
He spun straw into gold.
Wasn't that the idea?
Yeah, these are actually Elon Musk-powered AI robot elves that are pressing them with
where they have silicon feet that are, you know, impervious to high temperature.
Isn't that a beautiful thing?
Okay.
So if you want a DVD, folks, if you want to own a DVD of letters.
to the American Church, the film, which is, it's a great film. I didn't make it, but I'm in it.
You can, you can order it, letter to the American church.com, but we want this to launch big tomorrow.
So what we're hoping is that tomorrow or obviously tomorrow's the eighth or on the ninth or on the
10th, that you would do a launch party, just invite some friends over, friends from your church,
neighbors, whatever, and watch it. Again, you can pre-order it today, the download, and then tomorrow
you'll be able to watch it. February 8th is the official release date. But we want it to launch big,
and you are the folks to whom I appeal for that. So today, if you would, please, just go to
letter to the Americanchurch.com and do what you can there.
I also want to say to folks, you know, please be the person that asks your pastor or whomever to do a free screening of this at the church.
We want my attitude at this point is that if your church is not interested in a free screening of this film, then I want to know why you're interested in the church because it's literally free.
it does not cost anything.
And it hopes to provoke people, frankly, to biblical thinking on these issues.
This is not, you know, just some point of view.
It's meant to be biblical thinking to push us in the way that Bonhofer tried to push
the German church to think biblically.
And they pretty much refused.
They were religious.
They said, we're just doing church.
We're not going to, we don't want to go there.
And, you know, his attitude is like, well, it's biblical.
to go there. This is God's will. And they said, well, we're not interested right now.
Or maybe we'll be interested next year, but, you know, right now. And we know what happened.
So this is, the film is made as a tool for you and your churches to understand what God says about
political involvement, about cultural involvement, about his will for us. And we just hope
people avail yourself of these tools. So letter to the American church.com is the website where
everything is there. And really, I'll say it again, this is, this is it. Today's the last day.
We get to tell you this stuff, to pre-order it. I hope that it launches well tomorrow.
We need it to. And so we ask you to do what you can. Letter to the American Church.com.
I haven't said a word about my guest today. Oh, my gosh. I should have opened up with that.
I'm sorry. I apologize. My guest in both hours today, absolutely fantastic guest. What a joy it was yesterday to interview China Phillips. Some of you know China. She is, you know, a big deal. She's the daughter of rock royalty. She's herself part of rock royalty. She's one of the members of Wilson Phillips. Many of you listening are familiar with Wilson Phillips. She's a profound Christian.
And I'll be talking to her in both hours today about her life.
California preaching.
Her faith.
California preaching, California healing.
But it was also fun to talk to her, just a lot of fun.
I talked to her about Mama Cass, whom she knew personally.
So that's both hours today.
We're talking to her.
And it was just fun.
Oh, here's something else.
I don't want to forget.
But we got a lot of exciting guests coming up the rest of the week.
But tomorrow, I will be in Seattle.
I'm flying to Seattle tonight.
And we're doing a Socrates in the city event talking about C.S. Lewis tomorrow night, February 8th.
So the same day that Letter to the American Church launches tomorrow, February 8th, I will be in Seattle doing a Socrates in the city event.
If you want to live stream it, if you want to watch it live, you have to be a member of Socrates.
Plus, all of the Socrates events, including the Socrates in the studios, which we're doing
February 9th.
I'm filming two Socrates in the studios.
And we got way more of those coming up.
All of them will be live streamed at Socrates Plus.
You won't be able to see them unless you're a member of Socrates Plus.
It's a very nominal fee, as you'll see.
But please go to SocratesintheCity.com.
And again, today's the day.
because if you're not a member of Socrates Plus, you can't get access to the live stream.
You can't sign up at the last minute.
You have to be a member.
So please do that.
And again, if you are a member, everything is free.
And I'm just talking about the live streaming.
If you're a member of Socrates Plus, you get everything else.
But the live streaming is included.
And I'm really looking forward to the event tomorrow night at the Rainier Club in Seattle.
If you're in Seattle, I believe there are tickets left, or if you can get to Seattle tomorrow night.
It's exciting. We're going to have a patrons dinner afterward. I'll be exhausted because it's on Pacific time.
But I'm really looking forward to it. That's tomorrow night. February 29th, we have James O'Keefe in Manhattan, April 5th in Charleston, South Carolina.
We have my very dear friend, Mark Helprin. I cannot wait for that. He is.
He's the proverbial next level to use a cliche.
So anyway, but so Socrates in the city for Socrates Plus, please sign up for that.
And please, folks, letter to the Americanchurch.com, help us.
Big push for tomorrow.
Please pre-order letter to the American church.com is the website.

Hey there, folks. Welcome back. Yes. I'm sitting here in the beautiful TBN studios underneath
the Tiffany Glass sky.
highlight with someone I like to call China Phillips.
China, welcome.
Hi.
How you doing?
I can't believe you're in New York.
When you said you're going to be in New York, I thought, really?
Because we've done Zoom interviews and stuff, but it's always amazing when people can come
into the studio.
And here we are.
I'm so happy.
Welcome to New York City.
Thank you.
Now, you're a California girl.
Yeah, I am, but I really do love New York.
And I lived here for 16 years.
So when I met Billy, I had no choice because he was like, I'm an East Coaster, and if we're going to be together, you're moving to New York.
So you're, okay, I guess we better start there.
You're married to, I believe, one of the Baldwin brothers.
Correct.
Just one?
Correct.
And which one is that, Billy?
William.
William.
Yeah, William.
William from Levittown?
Yeah.
So, yeah, there's no doubt that Long Island is on the East Coast.
Yes, it is.
Massapia.
Massapet. That's right, Massapequa. And so he demanded that you come to the East Coast, so you did that for 16 years.
He just made it really clear that he kind of had no interest in living in California.
Because he's not shallow?
Well, you know, every billboard that you, every street corner, it's all entertainment. It's like a one-trick pony, you know.
And so I think he just kind of felt like for him, he needed a little more culture, a little more variety.
and for him it was just a reminder, a constant reminder of the business in L.A.
How many years have you guys been married?
Well, you'll have to ask him, but I'm pretty sure that we're about 28 years into this marriage now.
About 28 years into it.
Yeah, but we've been together 33.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
I was a child bride.
When did you, yes, obviously.
When did you come to faith seriously in your life?
I know I've asked you this before, but here we are.
I was saved twice, okay?
So I was saved when I was 12.
Yeah.
And then I know you can only really truly get saved once.
But yeah, and then I had another really crazy experience,
Holy Spirit activated experience you might want to say.
The second time when I was 30.
Three.
Yeah.
33.
Well, it's interesting that you say that because that's sort of what happened to me, actually.
Yes.
The fish.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The golden fish.
Yeah.
And you think, you know, you try to make sense of it.
I wrote a book about it called Fish Out of Water because you try to make sense of it, right?
There's some people that are very hidebound, theological.
And it says, it has to happen this way and this way.
And there's repentance.
It's like, look, I know what this scripture says, but our experience of it is different.
Everybody has different experience because I had a profound experience with the Lord when I was 12.
And I write about it in my book.
And then there was some kind of drifting and some stuff.
stuff and whatever, and then I kind of drifted away.
And then the Lord...
Very similar stories.
And then the Lord hit me hard around my 25th birthday, and it was like, game over, I'm in.
That is exactly the same as me.
And you kind of wonder, so what was going on before that?
Was I saved, but I had drifted away, and then the Lord pulled me back, or was I not saved?
You know, we don't know.
And who cares?
The point is, you know, you want the Lord to get you however he gets you, and he gets you,
and that's it.
Yeah.
I mean, I think that I was definitely...
Definitely just not ready to completely surrender.
You know, it's a radical surrender.
It is a very radical surrender.
It better be.
And so I think when you're 12, it's really hard because I was 12 too.
When I was 12, I was not ready to put down the crack pipe.
You know what I'm saying?
I was just not ready.
It was not my time.
No, but it's so funny you say that.
Well, so, you know, a lot of people will know you.
A lot of people will not know you.
So your story, I mean, basically, you come from, you know, music, royal
Tell us about that.
I mean, some people know about the Mamas and the Pappas,
but talk about where you come from.
Okay, yeah.
So my mom is Michelle Phillips.
What?
Get out.
That can't be.
Of the Mamas and the Pappas.
And a lot of people know her as Anne from Nott's Landing.
So, you know, like the younger generation are going to know her as Anne.
Well, you want to know something?
Because I'm the older generation, I didn't watch Nott's Landing,
and I didn't know that your mother ever was a Nott's Landing.
Get this.
I didn't.
She replaced.
Alec Baldwin on Notts Landing.
Okay, that makes no sense.
Wait a minute. What?
Yeah, he was on Notts Landing, and then they killed him off because he got so famous that he went on to do other things.
Your brother-in-law, Alec Baldwin, was on Notts Landing.
Correct.
Extremely early in his career.
Career. Obviously, this is the 80s.
But I didn't know that.
I didn't watch Notts Landing because I had this whole life going on.
Like I was graduated college.
I wasn't doing TV.
TV was, you know, two bourgeoisie.
I was too sophisticated.
But so I missed the 80s.
So you're telling me that your brother-in-law, Alec, whom I've met a few times, was on Knott's
landing.
He gets killed off, and somehow your mother replaces that, yeah.
But your families weren't yet linked at this point.
Correct.
No, no.
Yeah, it was decades before.
And the other interesting little piece of trivia is that I auditioned for Nicolette Sheridan's
part who played my mother's daughter.
And so Nicolette was.
on first, and I came this close to getting the part, but I was just a little too young,
because she was kind of a racy character.
But then they said, wouldn't it be cool if we hired China?
And then had Michelle be the mother, but then I didn't get the part, but then they still
went with my mom to play Nicolette's mother.
A lot of people don't know that I had the role of Fonzie's younger humpback brother
and happy days, and they killed him off, and they never even aired my scenes, and I spit on them.
You are really actually.
Gary Marshall, I hate you.
Very funny.
Not really.
Yeah, no, you are.
You actually are.
So you come from this family.
I mean, the mom is and the papa's woe.
It doesn't get bigger than that.
And so you're the daughter of, you know, these legends.
Well, I forgot to say that my father was John Phillips of the moms and papas.
And I'm actually the only child between the two of them.
And I'm one of seven siblings.
Yeah.
So it's a little strange.
Well, no.
And your half-sister, McKenzie, I met her years ago.
And so it's just interesting.
But you also went on to have a musical career.
And so anybody who knows Wilson Phillips, when did Wilson Phillips start?
How did that start for you?
1990, yeah.
That's a couple of years ago, kiddo.
I know.
I know.
Hold on for one more day.
It can't be 34 years ago because that would make us, yeah, we just won't get into the math.
I don't know if we should talk about that.
So you started, and who else is in Wilson Phillips?
Carney Wilson.
and Wendy Wilson, their sisters.
Everyone thinks that we're all sisters.
We are not all sisters, and we don't all live together.
For a long time, people are like...
And how did you meet them?
What is their relationship to...
They're Brian Wilson's daughters.
Okay, this, right.
I got to, like, write this down.
You need, like, a chart.
Right.
So they're related to rock royalty.
So, yeah, so if the beach boys and the moms and the papa
has had a kid, it's Wilson Phillips.
Correct.
Right.
Yes.
and we disbanded for a while, but then we decided to reunite.
Did Yoko break you up?
She did that with a lot of bands.
I know.
No.
And then we started doing some shows together, and then Bridesmaids came out, which was really
kind of a coup for us because we sang at the end of Bridesmaids and the wedding scene.
You think a straight man like me is familiar with the film Bridesmaids?
You would be mistaken.
Really?
You've never seen Bridesmaids.
No.
Yeah, it's a little raunchy.
Who's in it?
Who's in it?
I do think it's funny.
So there's a lot of people in it.
A lot of very, very famous celebrities.
Yeah, no, I actually haven't seen it.
But I've missed a lot of stuff.
I missed Knott's Landing.
Have I brought that up?
Melissa McCarthy, like that's how she actually kind of really took off.
Okay, and so you, Wilson Phillips performs at the end of that, so it gave you this kind of like.
Correct.
So that was kind of like a shot in the arm for Wilson Phillips.
And then we started touring again, you know, lightly to a lot,
touring and it was great just to be in front of all of our diehard fans who were wearing
our Wilson Phillips T-shirts and they would even come wearing bride, you know, like actual wedding
gear. It was kind of interesting. And what year was that? Bridesmaids. Oh gosh. Now you're really
asking me to, I don't know, 2012. Something like that. So yeah, so like around 10 plus years ago.
Yeah. Right.
And what is Wilson Phillips'
Phillips' biggest hit?
Hold on for one more day.
I mean, hold on.
Hold on.
Yeah.
Hold on.
Some day somebody's going to make you want to turn around say goodbye.
Come on, guys.
Until then, baby, are you going to let them hold you down and make you cry?
Don't you know?
Don't you know?
Things that change.
Things that go you away.
If you hold on for one more day.
I mean, wow.
Hold on for one more day.
Things will go your way.
Come on.
This is amazing.
Hold on for one more day.
And what the most amazing thing is, you're the keyboardist.
You never sing that stuff.
She's the keyboardist for Wilson Films.
She never sings.
So you just kind of pull that right out.
Unbelievable.
Yeah.
No, that is so, it's so great.
So now you still perform with Wilson Phillips.
I do.
I mean, you're still like doing this, right?
I mean, you know, we kind of do one-offs now.
Yeah.
But yeah, I mean, it's a great experience.
Just harmonizing like that.
I come off and I'm buzzing when we get off the stage just from the harmonies because it's just incredible.
Well, music, listen, music is points to God.
There's no doubt about it.
Yes, it does.
If you, I mean, if you came to this planet and like what would you make of music and say, what is that?
Yeah.
There's something about it that unavoidably points to God, even if the people experiencing the music aren't aware of it.
All right, we're talking to China Phillips.
We'll be right back.
Tell me why Relief Factor is so successful at lowering or eliminating pain.
I'm often asked that question just the other night.
I was asked that question.
Well, the owners of Relief Factor tell me they believe our bodies were designed to heal.
That's right, designed to heal.
And I agree with them.
And the doctors who formulated Relief Factor for them selected the four best ingredients,
yes, 100% drug-free ingredients.
And each one of them helps your body deal with inflammation.
Each of the four ingredients deals with inflammation from a different metabolic pathway.
That's the point.
So approaching from four different angles may be why so many people find such wonderful relief.
If you've got back pain, shoulder, neck, hip, knee, or foot pain from exercise or just getting older,

Welcome back.
I'm talking to China.
Phillips.
How do you spell China?
C-H-Y-N-A.
All right.
And I guess you would know.
China.
So why did your mother name you China?
Like any particular reason?
Well, it was.
between North Vietnam or China.
So I'm really grateful that they went with China.
You're not kidding.
No, I'm not kidding.
Wait a minute.
And it would have been China regardless if I were a boy or a girl.
So I struck out, I mean, I struck twice.
So your mother was like a Jane Fonda pro-North Vietnamese radical when you were born?
You know, no, my father said, because my mom said I really like the name China.
And my father said, if your name were China, you might as well name her North Vietnam.
As a joke?
As a joke.
Oh.
Then my mom was like, no, seriously, I really like China.
So then they started playing with how to spell it.
And he was like, you know what?
It is a really beautiful name.
So that's what they decided on.
Well, this was like, you know, we're roughly the same age.
So this was at a time when, you know, the counterculture was kind of coming up with funky names and stuff.
Yeah.
I think that's a – you got a good one.
Yeah.
You could be named something like, you know, unicorn.
I kind of feel like Donald Trump ruined it a little bit, though, like the China virus and China and China.
Well, this is a little season we're going through with our communist neighbors in Asia.
But so you, but you spell your name differently, obviously.
Yeah.
I want to talk to you more about music and everything, but you do, you have a program called California Preaching.
I do.
And then you've started this thing, California Healing.
Talk a little bit about that.
Okay.
So California Heelan is a women's ministry. I just really felt like there was a high demand for an online
women's ministry that's 24-7 where you can get the support that you need. So basically, I was in the
deep, dark night of the soul. I was just in the worst pain I'd ever been in in my life. I mean,
it was just treacherous. And I did not know how to get out of it. I just felt like I was lost at sea.
I really needed help.
But I needed the help of God, but I also needed fellowship and community networking.
And I didn't quite have that because I would go to church and then I'd join a Bible study.
And it was like once a week, you'd do Bible study.
But I didn't have the access that I really needed to the community because I'm a sort of high-maintenance
lady.
I need a lot of community.
So I heard God in my heart say, China, what would be your ultimate form?
format? What would be your ultimate, you know, women's group? So I told him, and he said, write it down.
So I said, all right, and I wrote it down. And then he said, okay, now build it. Kind of like build
it and they will, you know, they will come. And so that's what I did. And I kind of expected it to be
10 ladies and that we would just, you know, have tea together, you know, and grow old together
and then die. Like, I really thought that would be it. But there was a high demand. There was
like people wanted it and they were hungry for it.
Well, you started realizing that other people also had this need,
especially women, for community.
I mean, men do too, but obviously you're women and you...
Yeah, I mean, I always find it just a little awkward
when men and women do this type of thing together.
Well, it changes the dynamic.
It does.
It changes the dynamic.
Historically speaking, there have been...
Men have done stuff with men and women have done stuff with women,
and there's a reason for that.
Yeah.
And when the opposite sex...
is involved, it really changes what you'll share.
Absolutely.
How you present yourself.
I mean, this also goes for education.
Yeah.
You know, young women with other young women
can be a certain way.
Once a guy comes into the room, it changes.
Same thing with guys and a girl.
Yeah, you get guarded, but when it's all women,
it's a little more disarming.
Yeah.
But I feel like Billy's in the Jesus waiting room.
And so maybe one day he will be able to start
the dude.
California Heelan. You know what I mean? Like that would be really cool. But anyway, there's five
groups right now in California Heelan and we're launching a new one in April called Sanctuary.
What is it? Like when you, so this is an online community? So it's an online women's community.
And we do, so there's like I was saying, five groups underneath the umbrella of California Heelan,
right? So we have sanctuary, revelation, promises, victory, and Genesis. And so each group has
25 ladies and we all keep in touch with one another and communicate with one another via
what's app during the week. And because it's only 25, it's manageable. It's totally manageable and
it's intimate and there's just, you really get to know each other really, really well, not just
on a surface level. That's why I wanted to keep them very boutique and, you know, small. And then we
meet once a week. Each group meets once a week on a Zoom, a live Zoom call, which is, you know,
105 minutes, and it's really powerful.
We have a Bible study in that Zoom.
We have Azua's power word out of London.
What?
Say that again?
Azua. Ramsey.
Azua?
Azua.
What is Azua?
Azua.
Adw-O-A.
A-D-W-O-A.
A-D-W-A.
A-D-W-A.
It's beautiful.
Okay.
Anyways, Azua does our power word,
and Casey Frank does our bionic Bible study.
And then we have shared time.
then somebody gives their Jesus journey every single week, and that's their testimony, Jesus
journey. And then we, you know, we take communion and we have share time. And it's very, very
powerful, and it's very edifying. And I think that so far it's really been super successful. And I
think that the proof is in the pudding. You know, it is an absolute, beautiful, safe place to
land your plane and walk each other home.
This, oh, that's so beautifully put.
The community is crucial in walking with Jesus.
We're supposed to do that in community.
So this is one way to do it, California Heelan.
We'll be right back.

Hey there.
Welcome back talking to China, Phillips, daughter of Michelle and John Phillips, wife.
of one of the bald ones.
Billy.
You,
I feel like I need a chart,
like a thing behind me.
So, okay,
so you're talking about this community,
California Heelan,
which is Christian women,
connecting Christian women,
and you keep it small.
Yeah, and it doesn't even necessarily
have to be Christian women.
We invite all women
to come and join us.
Because, you know, a lot of people are,
like I said, in the waiting room.
Like, they just aren't really sure.
They're exploring.
They're exploring.
and they're getting their feet wet.
And so, yes, California Heelan is welcome to all.
So you don't have to sign a statement of faith to get in.
No.
So, but it came out of, it was birthed from, use a feminine word,
it was birthed from California Preaching.
California Preaching is my YouTube channel.
That has really blown up over the past couple of years.
And it's basically just me, very raw and,
exposed and really allowing people to see my struggles with Christianity and my walk with Jesus
and my ups and downs and being able to see that I have days where I feel a million miles
away from the Lord and then other days where I feel super connected and then other days where I
just feel sort of numb and not sure. And I think that that's natural and normal and I think people
are afraid to voice that. I think it's wrong and you need to repent. You know, it's, it's,
It's funny because you have to have to have a certain personality, which you do, to be vulnerable
publicly like that.
It's because it's a great ministry to be able to do that because you're modeling vulnerability
and openness and, you know, showing weakness and being able to do that.
I think, I mean, I said as you before, but it ministers to people because a lot of people
have this false idea that if I'm not buttoned up or I'm not on all cylinders every single,
second, something's wrong, and I want to hide that from my fellow Christians or from people,
which is a lie from the pit of hell.
Totally.
And let me piggyback on that.
When I started California preaching, actually, I did have, like, the lights and the makeup
and the, you know, everything was just right.
And I was reading off of teleprompter even.
And then I was getting this horrible back pain.
It was persistent and it was chronic.
Every single time I was about to shoot a California preaching, I'd get this horrible back pain.
And so I got on my knees and I said, Lord, why?
You told me to start this channel.
And now all of a sudden you're giving me all this back pain.
And again, in my heart, I heard him say to me, get rid of the teleprompter, get rid of the lights,
stop putting on all that makeup, you know, just be authentic.
Just be yourself and be unscripted and just start talking about what's going on in your heart.
So as soon as I started doing that, of course, you know, the whole channel just started to explode.
and I started to get a lot more traction
and a lot more commentary on
wow China that really spoke to me
you know this you're you're telling my story
you know I because I talked a lot about the dread in my head in bed
because I used to lay in bed for 20 minutes
before I would even put my feet on the ground
just obsessing like a rotisserie chicken you know rolling around
just thinking about all the things in my life that were bringing me down
or I was in fear about.
And finally, I would literally just turn my phone on in the morning and be like,
okay, I'm having trouble getting out of bed this morning, and here's why.
And then that would help me get out of bed.
So it's been very therapeutic for me and super healing and cathartic.
And I feel like because of, I'm so grateful that because of this channel, my YouTube channel,
I have been able to parlay that into California Heelan, which is my little baby.
and I'm just so, it is so, it is just so Christ given.
I mean, he breathes into it every single day,
and he's doing things with it that I never could have imagined.
Now, one thing I didn't say up front,
because I kind of think maybe people already know this,
but we should say that your mother and father's band,
the moms and the pop, they're sort of most famous, probably,
for the song California Dreamin.
That's probably the biggest hit, right?
Yeah.
So California Dreamin, and you took that and made California Preachin, California Heelan.
Yeah.
So they all have apostrophes.
That's the thing.
They all do.
It's key.
Healing, preaching, dream in.
Yeah.
But it's interesting to me that the, you know, that you're reaching people.
In other words, you're using your platform and your celebrity to reach people.
So if people are interested in this community of California Heelan, I know you periodically open it up if more people want to do it, or how does that work?
Yeah, so I try and launch at least three to four meetings a year.
I don't want to get too ahead of myself because the most important thing is to me making sure that, you know, the pastoral team is strong,
making sure that our doctrine is really strong, making sure that everyone's feeling.
safe. That's very, very important to me. Actually, it's the primary importance to me because
safe is a big word for me. So I wanted to make sure that when people get on to their Zoom with their
group, that they really don't feel exposed or exploited in any way, that they really have a safe,
intimate, nurturing environment. So for me, I'm not pumping out all these groups. I really am listening
to God's prompting. And I only,
I only launch a group if I feel that the Holy Spirit is telling me to.
But, you know, my goal is obviously to keep rolling them out.
But in God's time, not my, you know, carnal fleshy time.
Now my carnal fleshy time, you don't want to be on carnal fleshy time.
So now my buddy, Victoria Jackson, is involved in this.
Yeah.
She is, she's the host on the victory group.
So she, I know, because she was talking about this.
And there's three spots left.
I learned, oh, there is?
Yeah.
I learned about this through Victoria.
I mean, she was on the program.
She was talking about this, and that's when we reconnected to talk about this.
There is a lot to talk about, so we're going to keep you for hour two.
That's fine.
So they've locked the doors.
I'm honored.
They've locked the doors.
But is there a website where people can find any of this stuff?
Yes, there is.
Actually, I'm in the process of developing California Heelan's, you know, actual website.
Yeah.
But the way to get on to California Heelan, if you would like to become a member, would be to go to
California Preachin.com.
And is that Preachin?
Yes.
Preachin.
California Preaching.com.
And there you can find a, I think it's a drop down, but you'll see where it says California Heelan.
Okay.
Because it's my merch site.
It's, you know, where I sell my merch for California Preach.
You sell merchin?
Okay, so California Preachin.com ends with an N, right?
Right.
Because if you go to California Preaching, it's, you know, it's going to California Preachin.
with a G, it takes you to John MacArthur.
Right.
We'll be right back.
Folks, welcome back.
I'm really thrilled to be talking to the two brilliant women who have turned my book letter
to the American Church into a documentary film.
They didn't just turn it into a documentary film.
It was their idea to turn my book letter to the American Church into a documentary film,
which is going to be basically everywhere, although we want your help.
in making sure that it's everywhere because the message couldn't be more urgent.
But Rachel Tash and Simone Alex, welcome to the program.
Thank you.
Who's in the film?
I mean, I know the answer, but let me ask you, who's in the film?
You both interviewed all kinds of people.
Obviously, I'm the main narrator.
But whom can we look forward to seeing interviewed?
Well, we've got Charlie Kirk as one of the leading voices, Dr. James Lindsay.
We have a few pastors, Pastor Rob McCoy from Godspeak, Calvary Chapel, Pastor David Englehart from King's Church in New York City.
John Amichuku.
John Amichuku.
That's my favorite word of the month.
Amunchukwu.
John Amunchuku is such a hero.
He is such a hero.
And yes, he is prominently featured in the film, right?
Yes.
And Victor and Eileen Marks, that was really.
really important for us because they're on the cutting lines of taking action and no holds bar
going into, you know, really scary places and rescuing children and really being the gospel
in action.
And, yeah, Seth Gruber.
Who really covers the whole abortion issue from a really fresh perspective.
I think he's the foremost leading voice for millennials and Gen Z.
on abortion right now. So it was important to have him speak to that. It's a great message. The film is
very timely, very now going into a very contentious 2024 year, you know, the politics, everything
that's going to be happening. The film touches on all of this, taking you through 1930s, Germany,
all the way through modern day. People are going to learn. They're going to see everything laid out
what's been happening in this country in our school systems, in corporations, the tactics,
that were used then and that are still being used now.
People are going to be blown away by what they're going to see.
And it's a wake-up call to the church to have them get engaged, start talking, taking
your kids out of public schools, run for office, all of it, just to get involved.
I really have to say that, again, you know, it's one thing to write a book.
It's another thing to make a film.
And what you all did, you know, not only did you translate my message into the United States,
a film. You did way more than that. You made it into a film which goes way beyond the book. I mean,
there's tons of stuff in the film that is not in my book. And these are extraordinary voices.
I mean, all of them that you mentioned, Charlie Kirk, John Amanchuku, David Englehart,
Eileen Marks, Victor Marks, Pastor Rob McCoy, James Lindsay. Everyone brings a different piece of the puzzle.
and I have to say that it's very compelling.
And, you know, since I wrote the book,
I would think I wouldn't be that compelled by watching it
because I already know this stuff.
No, there's tons of stuff in the film
that's not in the book that, you know,
you can say things and go places
that I wasn't able to in the book.
Unfortunately, the message is very important.
So I just want to tell people, ladies and gentlemen,
this is very important.
We've made this as a tool for you
to get the work.
word out. We're in just as crucial a moment in American history as can be. It is God's will
that the church stand up and take action and avert the horror of what happened in the German
church. That's really, this is a huge warning, and every single person listening has a role
to play. And the first thing you can do is go to letter to the American church.com and see where
you can see the film, and please tell your friends about it, letter to
the American Church.
Rachel Tash and Simone Alex,
thank you so much for your work on the film
and for being my guest today.
Thank you.
Thanks, Eric.
