Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, welcome to the Eric Mattaxas show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy p.m.investments.com. That's legacy p.m. Investments.com. Texas show with your host, Eric Mettaxas. Holy guacamole. Oh, I love it. I got to tell you, Albin, before we get into anything, the guy who announces the show,
Starting point is 00:00:36 yeah, obviously constipated. Yeah, I've heard that. I don't understand. And his voice, it's just, he's crying out for help. I want to send him to nutrometics.com, neutrametics.com, neutromedics.com. Use the code Eric. Yeah. Because I don't know if they can help him, but if you're looking for, oh, I don't know, vitamin D, vitamin C. Like all this good stuff.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Yeah. Okay. You want to go melatonin, magnesium. All this stuff you should be taking. Anyway. Immune systems support. You want to go to nutrimetics. com.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Use the code, Eric. They give 50%. of their profits, folks, listen, 50% of their profits to missions, I want you to go to Nutrametics.com. And by the way, you can't go to Nutrametics.com unless you use the code Eric. Correct. That's a new thing. Correct.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Yeah. We're at the NRB. And you don't know what's going to happen. For example, Dennis Prager just lumbered by. Yeah, he did. And that's the kind of thing that happens at NRB. I know. He just don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:37 He almost walked into our shot. I mean, this is how can do that. past, but he lumbered by, almost explicitly. Okay. Okay, so we're in Nashville, and Albin, I've never been a breakfast guy. No, I know you have. But this morning, I want to share this with the group, people who are listening. Before we go to our guests, and by the way, Colonel Alan West is with us.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Rick Green of Patriot Academy is with us in our two today. Neil Harmon, the guy behind Angel Studios, the creators of The Chosen, which is the TV, series about the life of Jesus, Neil Harmon, and then Keith Stubbs, who is the president of Dry Bar Comedy, we get into some comedic stuff. That's at the end of hour two today, second half of hour two. So it gets crazy. A lot to look forward to because today's our last day, Friday at NRB in Nashville. But I want to say this. This morning, I woke up, and Albin, I got a text from you. And I want to share this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:40 With the people, just to understand that my life is not that exciting. Hold on a second. Where is it? Albert, here it is. Here it is. You, for some reason, I realize every year when we come to NRB, breakfast is important to you. Yes, it is. You like to get a hearty breakfast.
Starting point is 00:02:59 I do. I've never understood that. Okay. But it's important to you. Okay. So I wake up and I get a text from you. It says ordering Grandma's sampler. at Cracker Barrel, Life is Good.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Now, I just want to say, Cracker Barrel, you have to walk to get there. It's quite a walk from the terrarium called the NRB. But you have to walk to Cracker Barrel. But my first text of the day is ordering Grandma's Sampler at Cracker Barrel, Life is Good. So I read that, and I'm disgusted by the thought of a hearty breakfast called Grandma's Sampler. It just seems off-color to me. And when I think of a sampler, I think of something that's basically like a knitted, crocheted thing from grandma.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Right. So I wrote back, that sounds almost unbelievably disgusting. Do you have to pick the lint and hair out of the greasy eggs and onions? Because that's what I picture. Grandma's sampler, it's just, it's knitted, there's lint, okay? And you wrote back to me. I wrote back, no, the greasy chef does that for me. Okay, and then I wrote back, Grandma, Sassie.
Starting point is 00:04:10 on that quilted sampler in her last years in a chair near the TV. And I make reference to her. She struggled with incontinence. Bon Appetit. Of course, then I wrote back RIP Grandma, buried with her corncob pipe, still clenched between the green and brown teeth. She just finished literally choking down her own signature sampler.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Her very own signature sampler. That's the kind of comedy. Folks, if you read my texts, that's the kind of comedy. But I still, the idea of calling a hearty breakfast meal, Grandma Sampler, I just want to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, I'm very troubled by that. Yes. But I mean, I can't tell you. By the way, it's just that the name is all over, and grandma herself was at this particular cracker barrel. Now, she's 108 and, you know, a little worse for where.
Starting point is 00:05:07 But if she could get rid of that cornclop. I can't believe that because we don't have Cracker Barrel in Manhattan, but I love Cracker Barrel. Oh, by the way, the temperature was very warm here earlier, and I went to somebody, a management, and I said, could you turn a temp down? They went up to, there was just a little thermostat. You mean indoors? Yeah, indoors here at the Gaylord, and there was a little thermostat, and they just, like, turned it down a few clicks, and it got really, just like the one you have in your house,
Starting point is 00:05:29 but it's for the whole Gaylord. That's not true. It's not true. I don't believe you. Okay, Albin, we have, before we get to our guests, I want to remind people, we're doing a fundraiser for food for the poor. Folks, if you're not excited by this, you're not paying attention. Whenever you know that bad things are happening, and then somebody tells you, yes, but you
Starting point is 00:05:50 can do something good about it, that to me is a wonderful opportunity, because a lot of bad things happening in the world, there's nothing you can do, or it's complicated, it's too complicated for you to know what to do. Food for the poor feeds hungry kids in places like Honduras, and once or twice a a year we do a campaign with them. The one we're doing right now, I just want to say this is an unadulterated good that you can do now. There are kids who are hungry, who are starving, who have malnutrition, and this is in our hemisphere. This is in Honduras. Food for the poor is on the ground. I want to encourage you, ladies and gentlemen, please go to our website metaxis talk.com. Metaxistocococ.com. Metaxistococon.com
Starting point is 00:06:39 Tom, when you go there, you'll see a banner and you can give. Now, some people say, I don't have that much to give. That's a little bit. What about if you give once a month? If you give monthly, if you give $10 a month, that is enough to feed a kid for 18 months, folks. That's, I mean, $88 feeds a kid for a year. Yeah. So I want to encourage you to go to food for the poor.
Starting point is 00:07:08 and give what you can. Now, there are some people that can give a lot. If you can give $88, that's the goal. $88 feeds a kid for an entire year, provides access to clean water for a lifetime. $175 offers the same blessing to two kids for a year. Obviously, any amount will help. And you will be blessed because you're helping share the love of Jesus
Starting point is 00:07:33 with the poorest of the poor in Honduras. This is an amazing organization. It's doing the work that God calls us to do, to feed the hungry. They're doing it. I just think that the idea that we get to participate, because many of us just don't know what can I do, what can I do? Well, folks, this is something you can do. We have vetted food for the poor.
Starting point is 00:07:56 This is an organization that we stand behind. We believe in them. Whatever you can give. I mean, there are many people out there that can give $500, $1,000. dollars, whatever you can give, it's tax deductible, and it goes to a great organization. They're able to stretch American dollars very, very far, which is why we work with them and are not ashamed to push you to participate. And by the way, if you do participate, whoever you are, we put your name in a hat for
Starting point is 00:08:28 a three, three grand prizes that we will send you. come up to me now and again and say, I won the grand prize. We're going to send you signed books, books that I've written and signed, books that Alban has written and signed, plus T-shirts, hats. Like, we've got all kinds of stuff, but we try to make it fun for you. Yeah, stickers and all kinds of things. Yeah, it's really great. So you have to go to Metaxus Talk. Let me give you the phone number. The phone number is 8444-4. Now you've got to do this today. Okay, 844-863, hope. 840. 840. 8463 Hope, 844-863 Hope.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Please go to 844-863. And really, do it right now because people get distracted. There's so much going on. Please go to the banner at metaxistock.com or call the phone number, but do it now before you forget. This is very important. Okay, so I'm going to give the phone number again. 844-863 Hope.
Starting point is 00:09:27 844-863 Hope. Let me spell that. 844-863 Hope. H-O-P-E-84-8-6-3, hope. A lot of people would prefer to call. If you don't want to call, the number is still 844-863 hope. If you want to go on the website, it's metaxis talk.com. This is a great opportunity.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Get your kids involved. This is real. We'll be back with our guests, Colonel Ellen West and Rick Green. Hey, folks, I've got to tell you a secret about relief factor that the father-son owners Pete and Seth Talbot have never made a big deal about. but I think it is a big deal. I really do. They sell the three-week quick start pack for just 1995 to anyone struggling from pain like neck, shoulder, back, hip, or knee pain, 1995, about a dollar a day. But what they haven't broadcasted much is that every time they sell a three-week
Starting point is 00:10:35 quick start, they lose money. In fact, they don't even break even until about four to five months after if you keep ordering it. Friends, that's huge. People don't keep ordering relief factor month after month if it doesn't work. So yes, Pete and Seth are literally on a mission to help as many people as possible deal with their pain. They really do put their money where their mouths are. So if you're in pain from exercise or even just getting older or to the three-week quick start for 1995. Let's see if we can get you at a pain too. Go to relieffactor.com. Relieffactor.com or call 800-500-384-800-3-8-3-4. Relieffactor.com. I use it. It works. Hey folks, if you could make money off of abortion or pornography, would you do it?
Starting point is 00:11:16 I hope the answer is no. But I want to tell you, Robert Netsley, the founder of InspireInsight.com, he was the president of his local pro-life pregnancy center when he discovered that he owned investments in three companies manufacturing abortion drugs. Well, God helped him to see that he was making money from abortion, pornography, LGBT activism, and the list goes on. and that's why he created InspireInsight.com. Inspireinsight.com gives you instant access to biblical values data on over 23,000 stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs, so you can invest to the glory of God. You need to go to InspireInsight.com today
Starting point is 00:11:57 and screen your 401Ks, IRAs, and other investment accounts. I did, and I was shocked. Now I'm able to clean out the junk and invest in companies actually doing good things. Go to inspireinsight.com today and register for free. That's Inspire, Insight.com. Go there. Folks, this is
Starting point is 00:12:27 the Yorkman Taxes Show. We are all this week at the NRB National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville. At least they say it's Nashville. It's some kind of a terrarium with human beings. There's a water park. It's
Starting point is 00:12:44 discombobulating. I don't like it one bit, but I have no choice but to do my program from this place. Here's the good news. When you're at the NRB, you get to talk to all kinds of interest people because they are here also. For example, for example, I am sitting right now next to two people that I'm excited to speak with. One of them, you may know. Colonel Alan West is sitting here and then somebody, I don't know if you know, but his name is Rick Green. He is the founder of the Patriot Academy.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Gentlemen, welcome. Now, you're going to have to speak into the microphone because it's really a race. program technically. Okay, so I know, Rick, you're the founder of the Patriot Academy, so I want to hear what that is, and then I want to know Colonel West, how are you related to the Patriot Academy? Because you have some involvement. Yes, I do. I have had previous involvement with Patriot Academy, and now Rick has officially asked me to come on as a national spokesperson and a senior advisor to what they're doing there, because I think it is so important that we get constitutional education to back out there for our young people and also for adults, especially with our military veterans,
Starting point is 00:13:58 and then also the biblical view of the Constitution has to once again be reestablished in our Judeo-Christian faith heritage republic. Well, I can understand why you want him to be your spokesman. He knows a little bit about this. Just a little bit. You can't stump the guy. I've been there with him in front of crowds, and whatever you ask him about the Constitution, he's got an answer, and that's what we need. We need to know the truth behind what the Constitution was actually intended to do, not what the court has turned it into. And we've been doing this since I was a legislator 20 years ago in Texas out of frustration with the fact that most people don't understand liberty and the principles that
Starting point is 00:14:29 produce liberty. We started Patriot Academy to teach young people and raise up a new generation. So we do it in state capitals across the country. 16 to 25 year olds come in. They live the life of a legislator. We teach them biblical worldview and constitutional governance. And then it turned into a constitution coach program. So now, Eric, we've got 12,000 constitution coaches out there hosting classes in their homes, at their churches, all throughout their community. They're firing up people. They're getting them engaged. They're teaching them the greatness of America and how to restore those principles. And then we're giving them actual action steps. Well, so I'm for everything you just, both of you just said. I get very excited about this. But when, did I just miss it? When
Starting point is 00:15:07 did the Patriot Academy start and how does it function? How can people get involved? Patriot Academy.com to learn more, but we started it 20 years ago in Texas at the Texas Capitol. And then we started spreading across the country and hosting other capitals. And then when we created the Constitution Coach program, that's for anybody anywhere. You don't have to have any background in this. And Eric, these are the only Constitution classes known to mankind where you will actually stay awake and finish the class. All right. We both stay awake.
Starting point is 00:15:34 You're setting a high bar. Yes, it is a high bar. Did you say awake? Come on. Throughout this entire class. Well, I'll tell you something. And I confess these things because I just think we should. but it wasn't until not even 10 years ago.
Starting point is 00:15:50 I wrote a book called If You Can Keep It, which comes from the words of Benjamin Franklin exiting the Constitutional Convention. And for the first time in my life, I was ashamed, and I am still ashamed that it took so long, that I finally understood some things about how our glorious system of self-government and liberty works. And the bigger takeaway for me was that, If I had missed this, generally speaking, over the decades,
Starting point is 00:16:19 it means that everyone my age and younger, almost everyone has missed this. This used to be part and parcel of an American education. You could not get a high school diploma if you didn't get this stuff. This was the most basic thing. And that has since the 60s effectively evaporated, which is why I wrote my book and I wrote it hopefully for young people, not just for all adults, but specifically for younger people. But there are all kinds of folks like you working along similar lines,
Starting point is 00:16:54 because it seems to me you understand what I finally understood, that if you have a citizenry that doesn't get this, America's over. No, you're absolutely right. You're absolutely right, Eric, and I think that's the whole purpose here. You said American education. We don't have an American education. We have a cultural Marxist indoctrination that is happening in our school system. I mean, the left started out at college and university campuses.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Now it's in high school, and now it's down to middle school, and they're trying to get it down into elementary school. And so what we have to do is start retaking that back in our homes, in our communities, and our churches even. And I think that's what the whole purpose is with the Patriot Academy, is to specifically look at our young people, 16 to 25, but then also we have this constitutional coach program where we have 12,000 of these constitutional coaches across the country
Starting point is 00:17:43 because we have got to get people more engaged and more involved. So how does somebody become a constitutional coach? Good news is it's 100% free. You go to Patriot Academy.com. We give you the materials for free. We train you for free. And in fact, your book, when you think about it, A Republic if you can keep, the gal that asked that question,
Starting point is 00:17:58 Elizabeth Powell, was the very first Constitution coach in America. She used to get people together in her parlor. And these people included Benjamin Franklin and other founding fathers, and they would have these discussions. She literally fostered discussions about the principles of liberty in her home so that they can then go out and act on that. This is the famous Mrs. Powell of Philadelphia. When I wrote my book, I didn't really know anything about her.
Starting point is 00:18:20 I just mentioned, you know, this woman, and I've subsequently discovered a little bit about who she was. But it's so funny because there are these moments in history, like that moment where, I mean, you almost can't imagine. For, you know, 87 or 100 days, these giants are in this room doing something. There's no leaks. Nobody knows what's happening. And when it's over, people like Mrs. Powell, who were friends with some of these folks, didn't know what they had come up with.
Starting point is 00:18:50 So she actually asks them, what have you given us, Dr. Franklin, a monarchy or a republic? And they didn't even know, is it possible to pull this off? And of course, he says, a republic, madam, if you can keep it. And you think Franklin was such a genius that he was able to, in a moment, off the cuff, express the heart of the American system, is that, If we the people don't keep it, the Constitution doesn't keep itself. We need to know the Constitution, which is why what you guys are doing is just absolutely vital. What is the website again for you? Patriot Academy.com, and there's actually, we have a high school government course,
Starting point is 00:19:26 and I promise it was before your book came out, and it's actually called a Republic if you can keep it. And it's exactly. I'm going to sue you. Alvin, make a note. I'm suing these people. I don't care. I don't care. Franklin's dead, but I'm alive, and my lawyer is really alive.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Do not give Eric my website. Okay. No, seriously, it is exactly what needs to be done. But Alan nailed it. It's not just the kids. We need to know this. Because like you said, you figured out you didn't know. I was the same way.
Starting point is 00:19:50 I mean, I was in the legislature, and I'm sitting there reading a poll in Texas that said, 50% of Texans could not name one out of the First Amendment. 95% could not name more than one. Right. And I was disgusted. And then I tried to name them. And I couldn't. Well, look.
Starting point is 00:20:03 I'm a lawyer. I'm a legislator. This is basic stuff. I mean, think of the hours that kids spend in school. That by law, they're required to spend in school. if a kid doesn't know that 2 plus 2 equals 4, you'd say he never went to school, right? There are basic, basic things that were, you really can't function if you don't know these things, how to read, how to write.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Understanding the basics of the American system, that simply was taken for granted for two centuries. It's only when the three of us sort of were born, right, our generation, for the first time you have American kids in school. not learning this stuff. And this is why the public school system was created. Virtually every state constitution, specifically in the education section, says that this is for an informed citizenry, so that you have citizens that understand how to preserve freedom. So if you're not teaching the kids to the public school system, how are you going to do it,
Starting point is 00:20:59 the way that we're doing it in homes, we're doing it online, we're doing it through classes, through churches. We've got to replace what the public schools have not done. We've got to teach civics to every generation alive today. I kind of cut you off there, Colonel. No, no, you're absolutely right. but I will tell you that when I look at the senior leadership in the United States military right now, they took an oath to the Constitution.
Starting point is 00:21:18 And so show me in the Constitution where the president, its commander chief, has enumerated power to say that I'm mandating you to get this certain thing injected into your body. And if they were truly guardians of the Republican honoring their oath that they took. Did Joe Biden do that? Yeah. No, I know he did. I was kidding. I was kidding. But to be honest, I tuned him out.
Starting point is 00:21:39 I tuned him out like 20 years ago, and so, you know, he does stuff, and it just, I just... Yeah, but see, the point is that we have so many people that don't realize the duties and responsibilities, the roles, the enumerated powers, the jurisdictions of the federal government, as articulated in the Constitution. So now people just making stuff up as they go along. It is shocking. But, I mean, what's really shocking, of course, is that theoretically we have elected officials who would say, excuse me, you can't do that. Even they are letting it slide. not pushing back. And that's why I call them cowards. Yep. But that's the English word. I really don't know the translation for that word,
Starting point is 00:22:16 but the English word is cowards. Where I live in Dripping Springs, Texas, it's just wimps. Wimps? They're just wimps. Woosys. There we go. Wussies. Okay, one example on that, though. President comes out, gives a speech, says everybody's got to get vaccinated if you work for anybody with 100 employees or more. No law, not even an executive order at that time, no, nothing. And the CEO of a major airline comes out and says, we have to do this because the president said so. Wait a minute, if the titans of industry don't understand the Constitution and the proper roles of government, we've got a real problem. Yeah, they're so busy worrying about how to make money that they are very, very ignorant of important things. And that's why we have to learn these things.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Patriot Academy.com. Patriot Academy. More when we come back with the founder of the Patriot Academy, Rick Green, and the national spokesman Colonel Alan West. Don't go away. In case you haven't been paying attention, the Biden administration has caused a financial crisis and they have no clue how to fix it. Oil prices have skyrocketed and when oil prices go up, the cost of transportation and shipping spikes leading the prices of goods to rise. And when we're already seeing record inflation, that's the last thing we need. Our economy is in trouble and you need to take steps to protect yourself. If all your money is tied up in stocks, bonds, and traditional markets, you are vulnerable. Gold is one of the best ways to protect your
Starting point is 00:23:42 retirement. No matter what happens, you own your gold. It is real, it is physical, it's always been valuable since the dawn of time. Legacy Precious Metals is the company I trust for investing in gold. They can help you roll your retirement account into a gold-backed IRA where you still own the physical gold. They can also ship gold and precious metals safely and securely to your house. Call Legacy at 866-5281903 or visit them online at LegacyPMinvestments.com. Folks, I'm talking to Rick Green, who's the founder of Patriot Academy, Patriot Academy.com, and the national spokesperson, Colonel Allen West. I'm excited about this. This is another one of these things that when I hear about it, I think, boy, we need more of this, and I'm glad you are doing this. Now, Colonel West, how did you get involved in this? When did you hear about this?
Starting point is 00:24:46 Well, I got involved with Rick about six or seven years ago, and I spoke at one of his graduation ceremonies for the kids coming out of the Patriot Academy. And it was just a very touching event because, you know, you actually pass on the torch of freedom, the torch of liberty to every one of these young people that graduated. And that's what we have to do in America. You know, the true thing that we are, will be judged upon is whether or not we pass liberty on to our children and grandchildren. And I think that so many of us are failing in that aspect. You know, when you just recently saw the poll where it said that 52% of Democrats would not stand up and fight for this country if it was invaded, I'd go back and think about my dad's generation in World War II, where you had young men that were committing suicide if they were turned down for service to go into the United States military because they wanted to fight and they wanted to stand up against evil. So we've got a lot of work to do, and I'm just really humbled and honored that Rick would allow me to be a part of this incredible program.
Starting point is 00:25:42 It's honestly, Eric, it's a perfect match. This guy is the best spokesman on the Constitution in the country. And that's what people need to know. They need a practical. We didn't ask you, Colonel. He said it, and I'm going to agree with them. Thank you. No, seriously.
Starting point is 00:25:55 It is, look, Colonel West, you're known for that. And I want to ask you about that in a minute, but we'll continue with Rick, and then I'll come back to you. But go ahead, Rick. Well, you know, I just think it's important for us to realize that it's not just the kids that need to know. We need to know. And that's why the coach program works so well as we go in, we train these folks to do it. You don't have to know anything about history. law, government, any of that.
Starting point is 00:26:14 You go in as a student with your friends and family and your living room or people at your church. You just pop the videos in. You learn from the videos, but the magic happens when the video stops because then you start having the discussion as fellow citizens. How do we apply this in our community?
Starting point is 00:26:27 You realize you're not alone. There are other people that love the country and know that we're in trouble. You realize the principles still work. And then most importantly, you realize there's something you can do about it. That's what the course does. It's called biblical citizenship in modern America.
Starting point is 00:26:39 It's exploding across the country. It's free. Patriot Academy.com to get involved as a coach. And so you have trained and equipped 300,000 citizens as what? Constitution. No, that's... 12,000 are actually coaches. 300,000 have been through it. A lot of our young people that have been through it are now serving in legislatures
Starting point is 00:26:57 in Congress. A couple of our Constitution graduates are Lauren Boehra from Colorado, Burgess Owens from Utah. So members of Congress, but also legislatures. More importantly, tons of school board members, tons of people that have gone through our courses then turned around and run for local office and gotten elected. So those things are vitally important.
Starting point is 00:27:15 You know, the good news is we're going to have five million people go through this before the next presidential election, and that's going to give you the... If I were a tyrant, I'd be shaking in my boots. Thank God I'm not a tyrant. But when I hear this... Well, I've heard different. I think, yeah, well, you don't listen to those people. But remind me to crush them.
Starting point is 00:27:31 No, but seriously, when I hear... I heard it was benevolent. When I hear about folks like the two of you doing what you're doing, it really does give me hope because this is, we're in desperate straits and at the same time, many people are waking up. I mean, that's what this is all about. Now, I want to ask the colonel
Starting point is 00:27:53 a little bit about your biography and how did you get to love the Constitution? What is your story? Because I just find it so fascinating that you have such a passion for this. How did that come about? What happened? Well, four generations out of my family have taken an oath to the Constitution to support and defendant, and all of us have been in combat zones. going back to my dad in World War II, my older brother in Vietnam, myself, three combat trips into zones,
Starting point is 00:28:21 and my nephew who is currently a colonel, lieutenant colonel in the army. And so when I think about a kid that was born in 1961 in a Blacks-only hospital, that could grow up and become a lieutenant-state colonel in the United States Army, command of battalion in combat, become a member of the United States House of Representatives, the chairman of the largest state Republican Party in the country in Texas and also run for governor of Texas. Why wouldn't I love this country? because it's about the equality of opportunity that is afforded to me by way of the rule of law that we have, and that's the Constitution.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Wait a minute. Shouldn't we focus on the negative? Come on, you're being so positive. Focus on the negative. It's kind of funny because you tell your story, and I can see that you just have pride as an American. You've worked hard. Your ancestors, your father have worked hard. You have real pride, and we're hearing this drumbeat of negativity, negativity. it's really, it's kind of funny because it's depressing. It doesn't help, but we hear it. There are voices out there, which is why, you know, I want to hear from you. I want to hear from Rick. We need to know that what we have is worth defending.
Starting point is 00:29:31 It's worth understanding. But obviously, if you don't understand it, which so many of us don't, you don't, you know, you kind of have, you take this kind of lackadaisical, lax attitude toward it. But once you begin to understand the genius of the Constitution, it is just a spectacular thing. It's incredible. I'm trying to think some people have praised it, and I should remember the phrases, but it's just one of the most extraordinary things ever produced by the human mind. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:30:00 And so when you start digging into it and you realize, this is my heritage. This is, I have a duty to understand this, to promote it. So, I mean, it really is a beautiful thing. I have to ask you the same question. And Rick, how did you get involved in this? And where did you grow up, Rick? I'm a Texas boy. I served in the Texas legislature for a couple of terms.
Starting point is 00:30:19 I think that's where my wake-up call really came. You know, I had gone to a dinner with President Ronald Reagan where he was given his last public speech, actually, and they were playing on the video screens his speech at Pointe Hawk, France, where he's standing atop the cliffs and those Army Rangers who had taken those, yeah, the boys appointed the Hawk. And I'm watching that speech. I'm 22 years old.
Starting point is 00:30:39 I never thought about the price of freedom. Did you know I wrote that speech? It was really well done. Actually, no. I'm kidding. We had to go to a break. I just want to say something stupid. We're going to be right back.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Folks, I would encourage you to go to patriotacademy.com. I'll be right back with Colonel Alan West and with Rick Green. Hey, folks, if you listen to this program, of course, you've heard me talk at infinitum about my pillow and my friend Mike Lindell. Well, Mike has just announced that you will receive one of his books. and the book is next level insane. It is called What Are the Odds from Crack Addict to CEO? It's his story. You will receive it absolutely free with any purchase using the promo code Eric.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Did you hear that? It would be a great time, by the way, to buy his warm and wonderful My Slippers. For a limited time, he's offering 50% off my slippers. We all wear them in my extended family, my slippers. Check it out. 50% off. Go to Mypillar.com. Click on the radio listeners.
Starting point is 00:31:53 square and use promo code Eric. You'll also get deep discounts on all my pillow products, including some overstock products, such as individual towels, blankets, comforters, and much more. Or call 800, 978, 3057. That's 800, 978 3057. To use the promo code, Eric. Folks, I'm talking to the founder of the Patriot Academy, Rick Green, and their spokesman, Colonel Alan West. You just referenced Reagan's famous speech, the point. Newhawk speech, which he gave in Normandy. Was that in 87, 86? I can't remember when he gave that.
Starting point is 00:32:41 84. In 84. Okay. But you said, oh, I'm sorry, of course, because it was the anniversary of D-Day. Okay, but you said that you heard Reagan speak more recently, and they played clips from that great speech. This was 94, and it was the last public speech he gave on his birthday. And we're waiting on he and Margaret Thatcher to come out, and they're playing those, those speeches on the screen. And I'm watching that speech as a 22-year-old. And the guy sitting next to me,
Starting point is 00:33:10 we brought with us from Athens, Texas. His name is George McCormick. He was a bomber pilot in World World War II, great American, great patriot. And as I'm watching the speech, I realize, I look over Mr. McCormick, he's bawling. I mean, literally tears running down his eyes. We're all sitting there in our tuxitos because Reagan's taking him back to those days of sacrifice. And then I realized, wait a minute, this guy, it's the first time in my life, it's real. This guy was willing to go around the world and die. So the two generations later, I could sit here and be free. So kind of like I feel when I'm sitting next to Colonel West, the people that were willing to die for my freedom, how do I honor that? Well, I honor it the way Lincoln said to honor it by having an increased devotion to the cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion.
Starting point is 00:33:49 So it was really that night sitting next to Mr. McCormick, I said, I want to become a student of freedom, want to know how we got it, how we protect it. And most importantly, how do we pass it, as Alan said, to the next generation? How do we make sure the torch is intact when we hand it to them and that we train them on how to be free? And so then in the legislature, we started Patriot Academy. And when I see these kids come through Patriot Academy and the light bulb comes on and they realize I've got a duty that dinner the colonel was talking about, they come forward in silence. They sign the Declaration of Independence. So there's an actual graduation ceremony. And Colonel West, you spoke at that.
Starting point is 00:34:22 So how does this work? Is this something that happens online? And then at some point in the year people gather, if somebody says, you know, I'm interested in this, what happens? We have multiple programs. That one's in person at state capitals around the country. It happens in the summer, mostly for young people, 16 to 25. But we do have one time, the first week of August that we have a military Veterans Patriot Academy. And on the Senate side of the Texas Capitol, it's full of military veterans of all the branches, all ages. And on the House side of the Capitol are all these young people, 16 to 25. And the interaction is phenomenal. But at that graduation ceremony, the veterans are the ones that come forward. And like Alan was describing, they literally ceremonially pass that torch to those kids after they commit, after they signed the debtor? Your actual torches? Actually, it's a metal. There is a torch that comes forward. I was going to say, so they don't literally pass the torch, but that's the idea. Yeah. So that's the one in person. All the other courses we were talking about are online in terms of the coach program. Okay. Yeah. But I mean,
Starting point is 00:35:16 look, there's something so beautiful about this. And of course, we need more of this. So I want to tell people again, go to patriot academy.com. So, so like right now, how many people are enrolled in this right now. How did you know? Well, about 100,000 are going through courses right now somewhere in America. So they're either in somebody's living room or they're watching it online. Monday nights, we have a live national class. You can watch the videos with us. And then guys like Mark Meckler and Kirk Cameron and Alan West and David Barton and myself will be on live to take questions and interact with them. So that gets people fired up to then turn around and do the course in their home or at their particular church. So it's growing like crazy. As I said, five million is our goal before
Starting point is 00:35:55 the next election. We've been growing at 400 percent a year. Now that we've been on the Eric Metaxus show, 400% a year. That is really pretty dramatic. Look, we need this. People know when things are this bad, you think, what do I do? What can I do? What can I do? You can do this? You can do this. You can go to patriot academy.com. This is, it's absolutely exciting. Look, we know that if most Americans understand this stuff, it's game over for the deep state, for the bloated government. I mean, it's game over. And for the ideologues who are pushing critical race theory and all these things, they can only do these things if we do not have an informed citizenry, period. Because all those things are symptoms of the problem.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Underneath the problem is biblical and civic ignorance. And that's what we're trying to solve. You can solve the ignorance if you just give the literacy. People want truth. They're hungry for it. That's what we're doing. Now, you know, anybody at home that wants to be a part of this? You don't have to know, as I said earlier, anything about anything. We want you to come and learn.
Starting point is 00:37:01 We're all sojourners together in this. We're all learning together. So be a part of it. And so the 16 to 25-year-old program, what is that? That's the actual Patriot Academy. That's the physical one at State Capitals. And in the Constitution Coach program, you can be any age. We even do a fun one.
Starting point is 00:37:17 You need to come on with us, man. You'd have fun. Come with Doug Giles, Brad Stein. Alan, we all have a great time together. Doug Giles and Brad Stein. I'm in. Cigars with us. I am in.
Starting point is 00:37:26 But on this one, we need to come with us. we shoot guns during the day, you learn how to defend yourself, and then at night, we teach you the intellectual ammunition behind the Second Amendment. Can I, well, you let me, like, take down an elk or something? What do I get out of this? You got to talk to Doug about that. I mean, honestly, once you mention Doug Giles, that's, I know that this is good stuff. There you go.
Starting point is 00:37:45 If you have him involved, Kirk Cameron, these are wonderful friends. I'm just so excited. This is, I mean, part of the thing, you know, in meeting folks like you, Rick and, and chatting with you, Colonel West, is I get encouraged because I think it's so easy for us to forget how much good is going on, how many people are working. I mean, and this is just, I'm just talking to the two of you, but there are thousands and thousands of people that are taking in this information, and they're going to change their worlds. It's inevitable. I mean, if you know this stuff, how do you not get excited? Well, there's a thirst out there for it right now. When you look at what
Starting point is 00:38:22 happened in Virginia, that's a clear indicator when all of a sudden the parents are told that they don't have a right to decide what their children are being taught, and they show up at school board meetings. And so folks are starting to stand up and realize that we've got to reassert our rights and our freedoms and our liberties and also our responsibilities. You know, the great thing about this country is all about the consent of the government, and now the governor's starting to stand up and say, we don't want to be ruled anymore. We want people that understand our fundamentals and our foundational documents, and we don't want to see the path that some people would like to see us go on. Look at what just happened up in Canada, where our,
Starting point is 00:38:56 all of a sudden peaceful protests and met by the jackboot of tyranny, where all of a sudden your bank accounts are being frozen because you stood up and did what our First Amendment says. You have a right to petition government for regressive grievances. And their charter of rights and freedoms gives them the same roots. Absolutely. Well, and of course we have voices out there often in the Christian community saying, oh, you know, we're supposed to, in a sense, lay down, lie down, and don't fight or whatever. And I think to myself, if you do.
Starting point is 00:39:26 not fight against this. You are part of the problem. We've all got to know what we believe, the difference between right and wrong, the difference between freedom and tyranny, and we've got to do our part. And you guys are doing your part. We're at a time. I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you. Patriot Academy.com.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Folks, you've got to check it out. Please check it out. Patriot Academy.com. Colonel West, Rick Green. God bless you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thanks, sir. Folks, Alvin and I are still at NRB. We are? We're tired. We're sick of this.
Starting point is 00:40:26 We're sick of it. Actually, no, we like it here. No, we like it here. But we were told to say that. But we, it is fun because we have so many guests that we get to talk to. In hour two today, which is in a couple of minutes, we're talking to Neil Harmon of Angel Studios of the folks that created the Chosen. And after that, we talked to another Angel Studios. Big Whig or something.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Well, they launched his... Yes, it's dry bar comedy. Yeah. That comes out of Angel Studios. Drybar Academy is, well, you'll hear. But they said they got like a billion views or something. I mean, that's what he said, a billion. Literally a billion with a B.
Starting point is 00:41:03 So that's coming up in hour two today. Now, there's two things that I want to mention. There's some things that we can't talk about on this radio program for legal reasons. So what I would like you to do, folks, is sign up for my newsletter at Eric Matack. I have the freedom to communicate things with you there that I'm simply not allowed to talk about on this radio program. I can't even tell you why, but I'm just telling you that. Ericmetaxis.com, if you sign up for the newsletter. Is it something about me that you're not allowed to be?
Starting point is 00:41:42 Well, yes, you are involved in it. Oh, but I can't, I can't, I can't be more specific than that. But I just want to be clear that, you know, I'm a man under authority. I don't. So if you want me to share. some things with you that I can't share here. Go to Ericmataxis.com. And I mean this.
Starting point is 00:42:01 There's some... I think I'm going to finally sign up for the newsletter. This is intriguing. Ericmataxis.com, sign up for the newsletter. I mean, there's plenty of stuff there that we will share related to this program, like videos and fun stuff. But there's some things that I can't share on the program for legal reasons. And so, whether I'm kidding or not, and I'm not, you want to go to ericontaxis.com.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Tell your friends. We live in a weird cancel culture, so that's one place where I can reach you no matter what. So I want to encourage you to go to ericentax.com. And before we go to our break and hour two, we're here to tell you that we are not even close to raising our goal for food for the poor. Food for the poor,
Starting point is 00:42:52 We're doing a campaign with them, and I want to encourage you folks to participate. We want 100% participation. We were going to ask for 105, and we were told that 105% participation is mathematically not possible. And I said, okay, what about 100? Is that possible? And somebody said, okay, we'll say that that's possible. So 100% participation, that's what we're looking for. But that means that you, and yes, I do mean you and you, and you.
Starting point is 00:43:22 you, not you, actually yes, you too. All of you have to participate. Now, we're not telling you how much to give. No. Because everybody is in a different place, but everybody can give something. Maybe you can just give a very little bit. Maybe you want to break it down, give once a month. So just you give you your credit card or whatever it is and it'll come out of your credit card once a month and it's a small amount. But the need at food for the poor is great. There are kids that are starving in places like Honduras. Food for the poor is there, showing. the love of God by feeding the hungry. Think of this, folks. I mean, imagine you couldn't feed your kids and some strangers show up and they say, we will feed your kids because people have given
Starting point is 00:44:03 money so that we can do that. We're food for the poor. How would that affect your view of the church, of the people who claim to be Christians? That's, it's one of the most powerful things imaginable. It's a powerful witness. And I want to say to you, food for the poor has been doing this for a long time it's why we work with them. So I'll give you the phone number. Maybe you prefer to call, but it's easiest just to go to metaxis talk.com, click on the banner. Every single person who participates is going to be entered in a drawing for three incredible grand prizes. That's right. But if you don't want to go to metaxis talk.com and click on the banner, you can just call 844-863 Hope. 844-8663 Hope. Please do it right now. 844-863 Hope. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Thank you.
