Welcome to the Eric Mataxis show. Did you ever see the movie The Blobs starring Steve McQueen?
The blood-curdling prep of The Blob. Well, way back when Eric had a small part in that film, but they had a count.
is seen because the blob was supposed to eat them, but he kept spitting him out. Oh, the whole thing
was just a disaster. Anyway, here's the guy who's not always that easy to digest. Eric the Texas.
Welcome back, folks, talking to Dave McCall. You can find him at McCall forlife.com. So when I met you,
you were giving me some of these numbers of how many babies you were able to save at the San Antonio
Pregnancy Center and how that compared nationally. Now, folks, the goal here is not to criticize
the godly, amazing, heroic people who are doing this around the country. The idea is to help them
to do what they're doing around the country. So, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but,
let's talk about that because clearly the issue is what works you by the grace of god have figured out
some of what works and you're you're you want to share this you have a zeal to share this
because we want to we want to change the culture folks we want to change this country um and so go
ahead yeah my my biggest concern is just exactly what you said good people that are doing
the best they possibly can who love god who want to
see lives saved, but there is so much pressure, so many things, so many ideas thrown at them,
rather than, you know, I had an old buddy in Arkansas that had a tire store that was the best,
you know, the greatest tire store in the county. And his motto was keep it simple, stupid. And we
complicate everything rather than just going after the abortion-minded client. Case in point is,
is I've had even people say, well, you know, don't you guys care more about your clients?
Why aren't you giving away more diapers and doing this and blankets?
And, you know, and when the board asked me to take over, I said, you know, I've never taken over or I've never accepted a position in my lifetime on a condition.
But I have a couple of conditions.
And the first is, I need to know what the goal is here.
And they looked at me in shock and they said, you've been our fundraiser for the past few years and you don't know what the goal is.
and I said, well, I used to think I knew what the goal was.
But I'm concerned now.
I said because we this last year had about 35, 40 lives saved, and we had 7,900 women through the center.
This was in 2012.
Yeah.
And this is typical of many, many centers.
And the interesting thing is that executive directors can tell you how many people they've had through the door,
but many of them cannot tell you how many of them cannot tell you how many,
babies have been saved. Why is that? And we've, because we're giving away so much stuff.
Our, you know, as I say at our gala, as I might have said it when you were there, I invite people,
come see our boutique upstairs. Come see our material assistance. It looks like Macy's Maternity Ward.
I mean, it is top class. It is professional. It's unbelievable. But our clients don't even get to
see what we have upstairs of the diapers, the formula, the clothes, the, the blankets, the
cribs, the strollers, everything under the sun that's associated with the pregnancy, they don't
even get to see it until they have had a change of mind that they're going to keep that child.
Now we're going to take you upstairs, and we are going to roll out the red carpet and lavish
them with the grace and kindness of Christ.
and absolutely bless them with everything, but they've got to come to classes, you know, and most centers do that.
The problem is the vast majority of centers allowing anybody and everybody just to come in.
I can just show up and, you know, I need some help.
Well, there's no, as I told the board when they were asking me to take over the position,
I said, there's no end to care.
There's no end to care.
We could buy them cars and apartments as well, and I wish we could, but we can't.
This is not a goodwill center.
This is not a Salvation Army.
We are here for the abortion-minded client who is contemplating taking a life.
And we want to bless her.
We want to come along with her and provide for her needs.
I guess the question to play devil's advocate a little bit just for clarity,
because I would think that the reason a lot of the centers are giving this stuff away is because they're saying that these women need help.
And if we help them, they will choose life.
Sure.
How does that, how do you know at what point,
how abortion-minded, quote-unquote, the woman is or how they're leaning?
In other words, that's where I would say, for me, it gets mushy.
Because I'm thinking, well, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's,
there's, um, questionnaires that we have an evaluation that every client has before they ever
even see a client advocate.
And all the centers have that.
that determines whether they are carry-minded, whether they're abortion vulnerable, or whether
they're abortion determined, whether they're on their way. See, in the state of Texas, one of the
things that's interesting is now that it's illegal, abortion is illegal in the state of Texas,
and I have donors all the time. Well, women are still coming in when it's illegal, and I go, absolutely.
And now it's almost like we need a fourth category of a conscience, seared, calloused, hardened,
because the women that we are seeing now, 100 percent know that it's illegal.
So why then are they coming to see us? Well, the reason they're coming to see us is because over 90% that we're seeing now, because they're so hardened and they know that it's illegal, they've already made appointments in Colorado and New Mexico, or they've already ordered the abortion pill online, which is also illegal in the state of Texas. And so they're coming to us simply to verify how far long they are in their pregnancy, but it's not a baby.
And the interesting thing is, even with this off-the-chart hardness, like we have never seen in 44 years, we've been in business 44 years, never have we seen the hardness that we've seen now.
And yet, 72% that see that sano screen are changing your mind and deciding on life.
So the national statistic nationwide, 3,000 centers, this is the stat you were referring to at the gala that you spoke at, 3,000 centers.
3,000 centers, and the national stat, only Charlie Kirk is the only person who ever got the number accurate that I asked.
And I've asked hundreds if they knew the number.
Executive directors don't even know the number.
But the number is for one center for an entire year, for an entire year is 35 lives saved.
Some will tell you 40, 35 to 40 lives saved in an entire year for one center.
our number today is already on May 12th, today the 12th, May 12th, May 12th is 103 lives already this year.
Our staff is required to know every hour what the number is and be able to tell people what that number is, because that's our focus is saving lives.
Do we do all the other giveaways? Absolutely for the abortion-minded client, but you've got to first decide.
on your mission, your vision, your philosophy of ministry, your type of board governance you're
going to have, what are your core values and your ministry drivers? Those are the things that I speak
on, do consults on, in order that they can have it in concrete in order that when all the bells
and whistles and distractions comes, you can go, nope, that doesn't line up with who we are.
We have put our core values on the wall, you know, under lights for every staff member
every volunteer, every person that comes to the door to see what we're about.
This is, it's heavy stuff.
I mean, it's heavy stuff.
When you talk about the abortion-minded, so in other words, it sounds like part of what
you're saying is that there are a lot of women, maybe not consciously,
but they're kind of taking advantage of the generosity of pregnancy care centers.
And they're going in there saying, look, no, I mean,
not going to get an abortion, but I guess, listen, I might. Can you help me? And they're getting help.
And I think the calculation, a lot of good people would say, well, yeah, we want to help you because
we want to do anything we can to help you not choose to take that baby's life. So that's the key,
is like trying to figure out, because this is life and death. How do we figure out how we use our funds?
Folks going to a break, we'll be right back talking to Dave McCall.

Folks, welcome back talking to Dave McCall.
who's the CEO of the San Antonio Pregnancy Care Center,
which has been at the top of the list in the, what is it,
thousands of centers around the country in terms of saving lives.
So it seems like Dave McCall, the CEO for the last 18 years,
by the grace of God, you know something that some folks don't know,
and you're trying to communicate this.
And that's why I wanted to have you on.
So let's just keep going to what else is there?
Well, that's just it.
My heart is to completely encourage these ladies and men.
It's, you know, I'm a two-percenter, as one man told me nationally,
that there's 2% of the centers in the nation that are run by men.
And my heart is I see it.
I see the pain.
I see the frustration.
You know, and when you're having to raise funds and keep a center going and keep a staff all on track,
you know, it's complicated. And even board members of many of these centers don't understand what
these executive directors carry. It's huge. So my heart is really to come alongside folks and say,
look, this isn't the purpose-driven formula for how your staff is, or your center is going to
immediately be successful and start saving, but there's some foundational things that will help them
to grow and help them to really even help their stress level to say to be able to say no that's
not what we're about we we are about saving lives these are the things that we're good at these are
the things that we're going to be about and we're not going to do everything under the sun just
so we can record numbers of people coming through the door and that's what the vast majority it does
and then because some of those centers also wonder why is it that we can't keep donors on board
Well, typically your great donors are, you know, wealthy, prosperous people.
Most of them good people, Christian people, that want to help, that want to get behind you.
But business successful people, you know this, Eric, because you've been in business a long time and dealt with thousands of people.
Those people got to the ranks that they're in for a reason, because they have a plan.
They have a strategy.
They have vision.
And it doesn't take long for a donor to go.
you know what, I gave those folks a thousand bucks.
I gave those people, those people $25,000, whatever it was.
And I just don't even see how it's being used.
And why do I never hear about baby saved?
You know, this is one of the things when I told you that executive directors
asked me all the time, well, how do you raise so many funds?
And I go, well, the first thing is, is take fundraising out of your vocabulary.
You're not in the business of fundraising.
You're in the business of friend racing.
I said, I don't ask for money.
I go and minister Christ to people and have lunches only with men.
They want to bring their wives.
They can.
And I talk to men.
And I tell them about how many babies are being saved.
I don't ask them for money.
And when they hear solid numbers that I can prove a baby saved and I tell them things,
businessmen, and feel free to call the office in the next hour to see whether the numbers
change and they can tell you. They go, wow, how can I help you? You know, and it's, it's, it's, it's that simple, but
people have got to understand that doing 50 different things doesn't make you more successful.
Anybody can say they've had 5,000 people through the door. In our case, in 2012, 7,900. That means,
that means nothing. But how many babies, if you're going to call yourself a pregnancy resource center,
I tell people this all the time, whether a man gives me $100 or whether he gives me a check for $100,000.
He's giving it for one reason.
And that's to save lives.
It's not for diapers and formula and everything under the sun.
Do we do those things?
Absolutely.
But we're after the abortion-minded client to save a life.
It's interesting.
I mean, this reminds me of, you know, well, first of all, I don't want to forget to say,
my wife, Suzanne, for 12 years ran the pregnancy center here in New Jersey.
York City. So I personally understand how tough and complicated this is. You can be well-meaning.
I see it in my own life. You know, it's tough. This is tough stuff. And so I'm just grateful for your
heart, Dave, that you so care about this and you want to help in many cases these women who are
running these centers to figure out how they could be more successful. But I was saying it,
It reminds me of in my book, Letter to the American Church, I've seen the same thing, and you talked
about at the beginning about what happens in the church, that you begin, it begins to get mushy.
It begins to get like, what can we, what can we use as a metric that's clear?
It's like, okay, how many people show up on a Sunday?
And then you, at some point, you have to realize, like, wait a minute, that doesn't matter.
What happens to those people?
Yes.
I was.
You're being disciples.
Well, okay.
And that's the point. Are they being disciples? Are they being change agents in their communities and their families? Do their lives change? Or are they just folks in the door? And then you have this kind of seeker friendly model, which is very mushy and whatever. And then it's all about how many people were here. The question is how many people's lives were changed. You know, I was part of a church here in New York City for years. And people are just going on and on about, you know, the growth and the model of, you know, it's, it's, it's,
It's, it's, they, they were not, they weren't culture warriors.
It was all about, quote, unquote, the gospel.
The problem is that it ends up really not being about the gospel because you redefine the gospel
because you're not talking about the major, the big issues, life and death, right and wrong.
And why do you avoid those issues?
Because you don't want to lose anybody.
You want to keep people coming in the door.
Keep listening.
Keep listening.
But at some point, you.
you got to say something that's going to threaten those people and make them say,
do I want to, do I want to be here anymore?
Do I want to leave?
Do what, you know, sometimes you've got to feed them meat.
And so that's where you get the mission drift because you say, well, at what point do we say that stuff?
At what point do we say life in the womb is sacred?
At what point do you say, I don't know, Black Lives Matter, oh, that's cultural Marxism
that is antithetical to biblical teaching.
What point do you dare to say the stuff where you might lose some people?
Well, your whole point there is to challenge them to think biblically to change their lives,
to equip them against the nonsense in the culture.
And so you see this in churches.
So how many churches have made this bargain with the devil?
And they don't have a clue.
These are good people, folks.
Exactly.
And they have, they've said, well, we don't want to, we don't know, we don't know.
Well, if you have a whole church that I would say is,
voting the wrong way, you've given them permission to vote so that the nation goes down in flames,
have you been doing your job? And they say, well, you know, they define what they're supposed
to be doing radically different than I would define it. And that's kind of what we're talking about
here. It's like these are good people have gotten off track. And again, I see it in the church.
I get very upset about it. This is a little different. This is what well-meaning people who
they've never had anybody say some of the stuff that you're saying. They've,
And they've never made you thought about this before.
And this is the area that I get upset on.
You know, I'm passionate about because just like you are with the church,
I am with the pregnancy resource centers because there's so much money wasted in time
and energy and everything else, not to mention the pressure that's put on these leaders
to do all these things, to be about all these things that do not matter when it comes to saving
a life.
Well, and also it sounds like what you're saying is that when you focus on,
on this and you start actually saving lives and you can show it, everything becomes easier.
Because first of all, you know what your job is. And number two, people who are thinking about
cutting a check are like, well, the results are kind of clear. They're doing this, whatever. And so,
yeah, this is, this is just so, it's just so important. We've just got about a minute left,
Dave. What else can we say? Well, I just want to thank you. A quick, a quick analogy that I use
back in the 70s, the economy was bad and a little bitty pot on Bernie, Texas, and there were two
hardware stores, and they're about to go under. And so one of them said, you know what, I know what we're
going to do to get customers in the door. We're going to give free coffee for a week. And they had
a thousand people come through the door and 25 people bought something because of their free coffee.
and so one of the other hardware stores down on Main Street heard about that and they said well you know what we're going to try the same thing and they had free coffee for a week and a hundred people came through the door and 25 people bought something now I got a question for you if you're the because there is no free coffee number one somebody paid for that free coffee there was a donor most likely that paid for that free coffee and which one do you want to support with your
hard-earned money of paying for
a thousand cups of coffee with 25
people bought something, or paying for
100 cups of coffee and
25 people bought something. See, this
is what we're
talking about. I hope we have piqued
the interest of some folks
at their, ladies and
gentlemen who are working in this world.
We want to bless you.

It's the number four.
McCallforlife.com.
Ladies and gentlemen, right now, this is funny, this is funny.
I'm speaking with somebody who's in North Jersey, which I consider local, because I'm in New York.
Big tuck people all around the country.
His name is Kurt Schwartz, and we're going to talk about something called Inspire Sports Camps,
which is a gospel-focused,
sleepaway sports camp.
Kurt, welcome to the program.
Eric, it's so great to be with you this morning.
Thank you so much for having me.
Looking forward to talking.
The work you do is very important and it's an exciting idea.
It's a beautiful idea.
So tell my audience before I mentioned Lou Dobbs and the dental appointment because I want
to bring that up.
But tell my audience what are Inspire Sports Camps.
What is that?
And when did it start?
Yeah, so, Eric, the short story is that 15 years ago, this ministry was just an idea.
And you've highlighted on your show ministries just like this around the country,
but our idea was to provide a gospel camp experience for young kids in this New York,
Northeast region that have never had it before.
And give them an opportunity to get out of the city, give them an opportunity to have a Christ encounter
and have a chance to be met with the love and truth of Jesus in a camp environment.
So we started talking 15 years ago with urban-based leaders from all over this area
and just seeing who might be interested in making this experience a priority for the kids they serve.
So this is a Christian thing mainly focusing on inner city kids, kids that normally don't go to camp.
This is a special thing for them.
They get to go to camp.
absolutely it's a hundred percent focused for that for those kids who have not had this experience we
we like to say this our mission is to create unforgettable experiences for underserved youth that lead
to life-changing encounters with jesus but our unofficial motto is quite simple if you can afford
to go to camp we're not the camp for you you know we're looking for those kids who've never had
this experience before okay so it's inspire sports camps i just want everybody always to be clear
on, you know, how to find it, inspire sports camps.
Now, you know, whenever God talks, I'm interested.
And just now, before you got on camera, you were in a car.
And I thought we were going to do the interview with you in a car,
because this is for most people, are listening by podcast,
they're listening by radio.
So, you know, they're not looking at the video.
Many people do look at the video, but it's mostly,
but a lot of times my guests could be anywhere.
and I was just while you were in the car a few minutes ago,
I said, listen, I don't mind doing it in a car.
I've done Sean Foyt, my friend Sean Foyt,
I think half the time I've had him on, he's in a car.
We had Curtis Slewa, who's running to be mayor of New York.
We had him on a bike.
No kidding.
This is a few years ago.
He was like standing on a bike.
He was somewhere where he was.
He did the program on his phone and the bike.
And then I read the most famous one of all,
which I just mentioned to you, was Lou Dobbs, the great, great, great, Lou Dobbs was on this program once,
and he was in a car, and he said, you know, I'm waiting for my wife.
She's having a dental appointment.
And I did the interview with him in the car while he's waiting for his wife to finish her dental appointment.
And then you said, you knew Lou and you know his wife, which is insane.
Do you understand how insane that is, how random that is?
That's a God thing right there.
That's just nuts.
I still can't believe I brought it up.
And then you actually said that his wife,
that they even have supported inspire sports camps.
I mean, that's just God.
I don't know, Kurt, how else?
That's just so bizarre.
I can't get over that.
It's amazing.
It's great.
Yep.
I'm so, I don't know how it came up,
but it's an amazing story.
Yep.
I mean, I'm just cracking up.
So obviously, now Lou has passed, he's in glory, but his wife is alive.
And you're saying that they're in Jersey as well.
I didn't even know, you know, I didn't even know where they lived.
But somehow they know, and again, I brought them up totally randomly, they know about
inspire sports camps and they've been supporters.
Like, that's so amazing to me that I just randomly brought up Lou Dobbs doing an interview
in a car.
All right.
So tell my audience, how did you?
you get into this? I mean, this is just the, you know, it's obviously beautiful thing. I can't think of
anybody so hard-hearted that they wouldn't care about this. Well, yeah, thanks for asking.
So, you know, several steps along the way, Eric, but, you know, I myself had, as a young adult,
been exposed to a ministry like this, one that you've highlighted, one that I, that I still,
to this day, love called Kids Across America in Branson, Missouri, that serves, you know, pretty much
the same population of kids just in a different region of the country.
After, after, you know, a few stops in my young adult world, including, you know, graduating college
and in coaching football for 10 years at the high school level, the Lord just continued to lay
this vision on my heart and saying, where is the ministry like kids across America in this
northeast region?
Reaching, you know, quite honestly, the mission field in our backyard using a high-quality
sports experience, but fully gospel-focused.
And like I said, 15 years ago was an idea that we just started to share.
And we just started to share this idea with any urban-based leader,
whether they were related to a church or a nonprofit or an after-school program,
who might want to send their kids to this type of experience and this overnight camp opportunity.
Now, before we go to the first break, I just want to make sure people
know how to find you, inspire sports camps.com.
Exactly.
Yep, that's it.
Inspire sports with an S, camps with an S.
Dot com.
Yep.
Inspire sports camps.
com.
Folks, I'm talking to Kurt Schwartz of Inspire Sports Camps.
We'll be right back.
Folks, I'm talking to Kurt Schwartz of Inspire Sports Camps.
Okay, Kurt, so you said you had a story.
or two you wanted to share?
Yeah, well, Eric, it's really all about, we say our visions to see cities transformed
one camper at a time, right?
So our focus now this summer, we're going to be blessed to hit a milestone that we haven't
hit yet in 2025.
We're going to be serving over a thousand young people from intercity neighborhoods across
to northeast.
We'll see kids from all five boroughs in New York City.
We'll see kids from Newark, from New Jersey City, New Jersey, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
from Poughkeepsie, New York, Scrant, and PA.
And we're going to be partnering with close to 70 urban-based leaders now to get these kids to camp.
But no matter how many total kids we see this summer, the focus is always going to be on one.
And what we like to say and how we like to train our staff is, you know, you're there for the one kid.
You're there for the one unlovable, the one that's hard to connect with, the one that's hard to reach.
Because if that's how he is at camp or she is at camp, that's,
most likely how they are throughout the year. So you're looking for that kid. And we say that our
best moments of camp, yeah, sure, they might happen in our club services at night or our small
groups that we prep for. But most of our most important and impactful experiences will happen
on the side of a basketball court where a kid is having a conversation with a counselor one-on-one
or in a canoe rowing down the, you know, in the lake, and they're just getting to know each other.
And we say you're focused on that one.
So Eric, you know, that one kid comes to camp,
and you never know the story you're going to hear.
We had a girl come three years in a row from the Bronx.
And she, on year number one, believe it or not,
did not make it all the way through camp.
Now, that's a very small percentage of kids
that end up going home before the weekends.
But she was one of the few that summer that didn't make it through
and ended up, you know, her week was cut early.
Next year she shows up because we give kids a second chance,
third chance, just like we've gotten in life, man.
We believe in that.
So she comes and I meet the bus and I hop on and say,
hey, guys, you're ready to go.
And she's sitting front row.
And her name's Tiny, all right?
That's the name she likes to go by.
We call her Tiny.
So Tiny looks up at me, says, hey, Kurt.
I said, hey, girl, how are you doing?
She says, I'm ready for a good week.
this time. And she meant it, man. She got off that bus. She connected with her counselor that week. She not only
finished the week, Eric, she finished the week and she did the ultimate thing that happens at camp.
She went up to what we call the born again bell. And she went up with her counselor and says,
I'm ready to give my life to Jesus. And I want to ring this bell and I want to tell the whole camp I'm
making this decision. And she rang that bell at camp for all to hear. And when that goes off,
the whole camp cheers, the whole camp goes wild. She then shared her story at closing rally of her life,
which includes, you know, a background where there's not much support at home and where much
of the responsibilities are left to her. So this escape from camp where she herself was able to enjoy
and let loose, brought her to a place in her life spiritually that she had never been to.
And she shared that with everyone.
Now, here's the best part.
The story didn't end on year two.
She came back year three, and she was just a leader in her cabin.
And we saw the transformational life right in front of us, man.
So this girl, this girl, we've watched her grow up.
We've watched her go through her struggles, her victory.
and now walk forward as a new creation.
It's amazing.
It's amazing to see that unfold.
And every summer we get to see campers come back now and see these same stories over and over again.
I mean, I think sometimes, you know, speaking about myself, we forget what lives young kids lead.
We don't know what they go home to.
And the idea that they could experience something like this, that there's a lot of.
a hunger, folks, let's face it.
These kids, they're hungry
for truth. They're hungry for God.
Even if they don't know it, they are.
And for them
to be able to be exposed to it,
it's,
how can you not be moved
by it? My goodness. My goodness.
My goodness. My goodness.
So now, it's called
Inspire Sports Camps, because
obviously there's all kinds of sports stuff going on.
That's like the ostensible focus.
Sure. So you
We have, we have, you know, high quality sports training with, with high school, coaches, college athletes coming in to be our coaches.
And, you know, two and a half hours a day, they're going to get basketball.
They're going to get soccer.
They're going to get a dance class, which, you know, I never thought, Eric, I'd be running a dance camp.
But, you know, the fact that a matter is we have, we have kids that come in and those dancers, they perform their dance at the end of the week with their, with this choreographed dance to hip hop and Latin music.
It's one of the highlights for everyone.
But, you know, all that fun stuff surrounded by camp activities they've never done before.
Hiking, high adventure, low ropes, zip lines, you know, fishing, canoeing, all that good stuff.
And then, you know, highlighted every day is the fact that we get to bring in a different speaker.
And every week we'll bring in five to six different speakers that lay out a different aspect of the gospel for these kids.
and then follow it up with a small group
and follow it up with an opportunity for them
to really tell us how they feel
and where they're at with the whole thing.
I just love this.
This is so amazing.
And it's funny because I think a lot of times we forget
that if you can reach a kid like this,
you're changing the world.
You're absolutely changing the world.
And I think, too, a lot of these kids don't even have a,
I mean, many of us take it for granted
that I have nice memories growing up of my summers.
A lot of kids don't get that.
They're in the city.
And folks, I live in the city.
And when you drive around here, I think, if people don't get out of here in the summer, kids, that's tough.
That is really, really tough.
So if I can, Eric, just one of our urban-based leaders, just to your point, a powerful quote,
just a couple summers ago, said, this is our kids' option.
opportunity to get out of the city.
Some of them have never left their neighborhood before.
So to your point, it's one of the things that the partners we serve, and by the way,
the partners we serve are doing tremendous work throughout the year.
But we get a chance to be their getaway experience.
And that's what God's called us to do.
I want to hold you over for a final short segment.
Folks, I'm talking to Kurt Schwartz.
It's Inspire Sports Camps.
The website is InspireSportscamps.com.
InspireSportscamps.com.
We'll be right back.
Folks, welcome back.
I'm talking to Kurt Schwartz with Inspire Sports Camps.
I'm inspired hearing about this, Kurt.
I got to tell you, it just gives me joy.
It's so simple and beautiful.
So you were just, you were just,
you were just sharing about a story a moment ago.
Yeah, I was. So, you know, Eric, we have, you know, kids come from, you know, like all the
neighborhoods I mentioned earlier in this, in this time. And, you know, last year we had one of
our partners reach out to us and say, hey, can we, can we add one more, one more kid to our
reservation? And we, you know, we said, sure, they, you know, without really even needing to know,
They shared that they had just learned about a family, you know, a mother and her children that were living in shelters and did not have a permanent home to live in at that time.
And they really wanted to get this kid away for this experience, especially at this difficult time in their life.
This kid was able to come.
And, you know, every single summer, we have a chance to serve young people just like that.
children and teens who have stories that, you know, we don't know ahead of time.
And we don't even fully learn during the time, but we know that God has them there for a reason.
And God worked and God moved.
And that kid had an unbelievable experience.
One of my staff members remembered this.
She says, hey, Kurt, that was the same kid that we saw a video on the bus ride home just singing
some of the songs that she learned.
And, you know, and she, and they, they reminded me of that, you know, later on.
You know, so, so we're getting a chance to, to reach kids right where they're at,
see Christ making an amazing and eternal impact on their lives, and we're fortunate and blessed
to do it.
I'm just, you know, I'm moved by this whole thing.
I hope somebody out there will contact you and write a big check.
This is, it's just beautiful.
It's just beautiful.
And I, you know, especially because in the Northeast area, I know this world up here.
And, you know, this is not Texas, folks.
This is like these kids are not in environments where they're hearing the good news or whatever.
So it's just, it's amazing thing.
Now, where is the camp?
Or, yeah, where does this happen?
Yeah, so thank you for asking that.
So, Eric, we are a, we're a program.
So we have some phenomenal camp facility partners.
all of them about two hours outside, two hours from the George Washington Bridge in New York.
So they're all in eastern Pennsylvania, and we run six consecutive weeks of camp at these three sites.
And each week at camp, we'll see approximately 200 campers come through.
This summer on the other side of things, you know, we'd love for anyone to be involved that might be
listening, you know, might be interested in being involved. We're going to be hiring 250 summer
staff volunteers. Our entire program is staffed by volunteers who are looking for a
mission's experience, a domestic missions experience. So, so we're offering that experience for
young adults and adults of any age that are just young at heart that want to come be a part
of a camp experience and it impacts some life, some lives for Jesus.
Jesus. Well, as I say, Kurt, I'm just so touched by this thinking about it. I'm grateful for you doing this. Praise the Lord. Folks, I hope you'll go to the website. It's inspiresportscamps.com. I know this is speaking to people out there. I knew it would inspire sports camps.com. And there's a video there. Is that right?
Oh, yeah. There's videos on our YouTube page. They give a phenomenal, you know, visual presentation and give you the really the whole story of where our ministry comes from and, you know, how it's being used today. Yeah.
Okay. InspireSportscamps.com. Kurt Schwartz, God bless you, my brother. Thank you.
Thank you, Eric. Thanks so much for having me today.
