Welcome to the Eric Mataxis show.
Did you ever see the movie The Blobs starring Steve McQueen?
The blood-curdling prep of the blob.
Well, way back when Eric had a small part in that film, but they had a cut of it.
is seen because the blob was supposed to eat him, but he kept spitting him out.
Oh, the whole thing was just a disaster.
Anyway, here's the guy who's not always that easy to digest.
Eric the Texas!
Hey there, folks.
Welcome to today.
I like to think of today as today, because actually it is today.
There's a fly in the room.
I'm not in my house.
I'm in someone else's house.
Don't tell them.
It could be Jeff Goldblum.
him in disguise.
Chris.
That is a dated reference.
Chris Heim's because we live in a fallen world.
Yes.
A sin-sick world.
I was obliged to watch the debate.
At this point, we was just talking to our engineer, James, before you hopped on here.
And I was thinking, James was saying, and I was agreeing that, imagine George Washington
in a debate.
Like, there's something, you know, like we kind of take it for granted.
We're going to have a debate.
And the whole concept of it is so it's flawed.
So sometimes they sort of work.
But I mean, I even remember when I was very young watching Reagan or watching, you know, Mondale debating.
There's just something so awkward, weird about the whole thing just to begin with.
It's just bizarre.
But I will say this.
Ladies and gentlemen, before I get into this, let me.
say that what I say all the time, we're in a spiritual battle in this country, in the world,
but God has put America at the front of the spiritual battle. He's blessed us extraordinarily.
And what happens here matters to the whole world. That's a fact. And so the battle has gotten
very intense, spiritually speaking. And why do I say this? I say this because my guest,
for most of our one today is my pastor and my friend David Englehart. And we're going to be
talking about fasting and praying for this election because it's so important.
So this is a very important hour with my friend and Pastor David Englehart.
And I say that to frame things because what I saw last night, I always want to try to help frame things for people.
If this makes sense to you, you don't have to agree with me.
But my sense is that what I saw last night in the debate,
Now, I've seen this from Biden.
We saw it last night from Kamala Harris.
It is a level of evil, a level of lying that is unprecedented in American public life.
We've never seen anything like this.
And it makes you uncomfortable in the same way that it would make you uncomfortable to see anything really sick and evil.
It's disturbing.
So when she several times lied, and I don't mean lied, like.
I gave her opinion that I don't agree with.
But when she said something, there's like levels of lie.
The level of lie we're talking about here is she repeated things that were always lies.
But what makes them really evil now to come out of somebody's mouth and to hear it is that these lies have been debunked publicly and multiple times.
So if you say something that is a lie, but then they find out it's not true and they debunk it,
for you to now say it again and again and again, there's a level of wickedness involved in that,
that as I said before, this is unprecedented in American life.
What are some of the things that Kamala Harris said?
She said something, the lie, the Charlottesville lie.
That was a lie the first time it was uttered that Trump said there are good people on both sides,
implying that he's like pro-neo-Nazi or pro-white supremacist or that he's a racist.
That was a lie from day one, a wicked, wicked lie.
But then Joe Biden repeated it over and over and over.
Then it was debunked, totally debunked.
I don't mean sort of, totally debunked.
He said it again and again and again.
He said it at the state of the union.
And he said, and I thought to myself, that was what we were seeing last night.
And I just, I'm saying this because I want people to understand it should make a squirm to hear somebody lie on that level because it's hideous.
It's like watching somebody be tortured or murdered.
If you're not disturbed by, by evil, there's something wrong with you.
So when she said that, because we know now at this point, we know that she knows it's a lie.
It's not just she's spinning things.
No.
She knows.
So it's one thing for someone to lie, but there's, again, these levels.
And so for her to say this last night, and what is behind that?
Now, there's another lie about when Trump says that the left in America, which is to say Kamal Harris, Joe Biden, they're pushing for abortion into the ninth month.
That is an absolute fact.
Everyone knows that's a fact.
She completely denied it, lied about it, lied about it, lied about it. That was another thing. I thought to myself, wait a minute, you're lying now. You might not like this, but you're not spinning it. You're absolutely lying. There were a number of those kinds of lies. And what we saw was ABC, the folks, the moderators would fact check Trump, quote unquote fact check, would correct him even when he was right on stuff. They would interrupt him and whatever. And then when she
said any number of these things, they said nothing. So last night was very disturbing to me
because I thought it didn't even have the beginnings of assemblance of fairness. It was like a
setup, like a horrible setup. And what I also want to say, which I think is important,
is that when you're watching something like this, it reveals the cynicism.
and that's even that's not strong enough of a word of the Democrats of Kamala Harris for the toward the American people.
In other words, they know that many people don't have the time to know what's really going on.
And they know that if they lie and they say this and this and this, nobody can check them on it.
Nobody's going to, the people are just going to hear it and go, whoa, really?
I didn't know that.
So it's a level of cynicism toward the American people that is.
simply despicable. I mean, it's genuinely
despicable that they would have that level of contempt. But that
really is what you're dealing with. When you're dealing with elites,
when you're dealing with Marxists, they don't really value we the people.
They just think, if I can fool you, I'm going to fool you.
I have the ability to do that. One of the lies that was
spoken was with regard to the, we mentioned on this program all the time,
the Heritage Foundation has put out the 2025 project, which is
fantastic. I say this all the time. It's
absolutely fantastic. And you can see what is in it by going to 25truth.com. Okay. So this is a
wonderful thing. But what the left does and what Kamala Harris did again last night, which is one of
these brazen lies, painful, is to make it sound like this is Donald Trump's thing,
which it's not. He says he hasn't read it. And I actually believe that because he's kind of a
smart guy that would say, I'm not going to read it so that I have genuine deniability. I can't say
that I read it. You can't talk to me about it. If the Heritage Foundation wants to do it,
great. Now, it is a great thing, and we hope he's going to implement it. But the way Kamala Harris,
one of the many lies was that she said, you know, that he's behind this and whatever. Everyone knows
that's not true. That has been thoroughly debunked over and over, but she said it anyway. And that's
what's so painful because somebody with a modicum of honesty or integrity doesn't tell that
kind of a lie that has been thoroughly debunked, publicly debunked. So it was just really,
really ugly. And then I'll finally say that Naomi Wolf posted something, and this is big stuff,
big stuff, that Kamala Harris was wearing earrings that are actually earbuds. You're going to be hearing
more about this. I put it on Twitter that she may have cheated in the debate. And this is, again,
this is Naomi Wolf. She put out the facts on Twitter. And so we're going to be looking into this.
But that's like next level. But it was so, it was so ugly. So anyway, talking to David Englehart in a few minutes.

Hey there, folks, wherever I am around the country, people say,
hey, Eric, you live in New York City, right?
Where do you go to church?
And I go, uh, what do you mean?
because I say many Sundays, most Sundays, I'm not in New York.
But the Sundays I am in New York, for example, this Sunday, September, I know, you know, I go to King's Church.
And the pastor of King's Church is my friend, David Englehart, who's my guest right now?
David, you're that guy.
Yes, I am.
Yeah, welcome to the program.
You've been out here before.
Yes.
So I guess you're my pastor.
I shouldn't say, I guess.
You're my pastor.
And we have a lot in common.
I mean, I don't know where to begin, but let's just talk about you for folks who don't know you.
And I always say people, if you're coming to New York, visit King's Church.
But, you know, why?
It's because of your leadership there.
Thank you for that, Eric.
That's flattering.
I think it's just like we're just trying to do the real stuff.
We believe that God is real.
He does miracles.
He's alive.
Wait, wait, what?
Right.
Even today?
Right.
No, that was just for, you know, that was just when the apostles were around, right?
You don't actually pray for the sick.
Come on.
Really?
Really?
I remember reading deliverance and all that crazy stuff.
Your miracles book, when did that come out?
15.
2016, 15.
2015, so yeah, almost 10 years ago now.
And your fish out of water story, which turned into the fish out of water book,
but we believe in a dynamic God that can reach into places and communicate with people.
So there's like the truth side, which is, we say,
historical Orthodox Church. That just means everything, like the main stuff we've believed the whole
time for the last 2,000 years. And that being married to a God that reaches through time, space,
continuum into our world and affects things. And that dynamic exists due to his kindness and grace,
but he invites us into that dynamic. And, you know, I love, I'm a philosophy major, you know that.
And so I love your, you know, searching for the subconscious meaning of life.
beyond the, below the sheet of ice and the union, you know, construct.
I love it.
I remember reading your dream about the golden fish jumping out of the water.
I was like, every, that's me, right?
That's, that's G.K. Chesterton.
That's these people that God's given this fun ability to think in symbols and language.
And I think Daniel was like that.
I think Joseph was like that.
I think there are biblical characters that God gives these pictures to,
and they're a puzzle and it's an invitation from God to say,
hey, come inside of the puzzle and I want to walk with you.
I had an old pastor that said,
a dream from God is always first and foremost a call to prayer.
So you would seek God and say,
God, what does this mean?
What are you trying to speak here?
Is this for me?
Okay, now, just in case people on tracking,
in my miracles book, I tell the story of the dream
where basically Jesus leads me to himself in the dream.
It's a game over.
I've become a born-again Jesus freak.
That's back in 1988.
And I also tell the story at length in my book, Fish Out of Water.
And then on my website, Ericmataxis.com, there's a video where I tell the story.
With Jordan Peterson, let me just say.
Oh, I forgot about Jordan Peterson.
When you told it Peterson, it was one of your best renditions of that same way.
If you want the long, no, this is true.
If you want to watch me tell that story at length, that's,
That's the best place to go.
Jordan Peterson interviewed me a year ago.
And he pushed me.
Tell your story.
So I told the story to him and his audience.
And that probably is the best telling of it.
So if you want that.
But that's, we're talking about God speaking.
And look, we have to have wisdom to know.
Was that God?
Was this something I ate last night?
Sure.
Was that the devil?
You know, like you need to know, was it actually God?
Because when people say God said this or God said that, if that's true, great.
but we have to be careful.
But you, I wanted to talk to you about, you said you had someone in your church who had a dream recently.
I don't know if we want to leap there.
Yeah.
It's so powerful.
It has to do with the election, praying for this election.
Talk about that.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, we do have to ask the question, is this God?
Is this me?
Is this, you know, the news cycle that I'm watching?
What's happening with these symbols in my mind?
And the scripture says the word of God is more powerful than any two-edged,
it's able to divide between bone and marrow soul and spirit, the thoughts and the intents of the heart.
So it's actually the word of God. That's our construct that gives us confidence that, yes, this is God, or no, this is not God, and gives us the ability to discern those things.
And that's where you get into Weirdo Zone. Every dream, I feel like, you know what I mean? And it's always self-serving.
If it's self-serving, it's a good chance it's likely not. You know, it's not definitely not, but a good chance it's likely not.
There's a story in Aberfan Wales. Can I tell a story about whales?
jump. Aberfan is this town in Wales. There's a story from, okay, when did this happen?
1960s. Okay. And the psychologist went to this town in Aberfan. So what happened was, it's a coal mining town, so they're pulling all this dirt out of the ground. That's what mining is. And then they're putting it on side of this mountain. The mountain is, the town is in the valley. The mountain is getting all this dirt piled up. And they have a really particularly rainy season. In this one night,
the villagers wake up and there's at least eight reports of villagers having dreams where the black mountain comes down upon the town specifically a schoolhouse.
This little girl really specifically says mom, mom, mom.
The psychologist tells the story how this dream where all this black goo came over the school and everyone was hurt.
The mom said, I don't have time.
That morning, 110 people, mostly women and children at the school, and other kids, other kids,
townspeople died at the base of this mountain because the mountain from the from the coal mining
deposit and the monsoon or in the rain came upon the school and you could say well god how can
you know a good god do such a thing how could he how how could you let a tragedy happen well
it was man that was doing the thing and it was god that was mourning the men the people like
we don't i don't actually want you to die you're creating chaos in your environment but he but you're
I guess the point is he warned them in dreams that this is going to happen.
That's exactly right.
Because people don't, it's one thing for one person to have a dream like that.
That's significant.
Like a God speaks to people through dreams.
But multiple, how do you not know that that's supernatural?
Yes.
Multiple people have had dreams.
So where did you find this?
Where do you find the most fascinating stuff?
Do you understand why I go to his church?
He's not average.
Well, I was studying for this book about this dream that I had,
about beauty and the beast.
And I was looking at not just our Christian versions,
because sometimes when you're trying to persuade the world,
you need to take examples from the world.
Like, here's what the Bible says.
I believe it's the Word of God.
I believe it's true.
You may not be totally persuaded by this.
You may be also persuaded by this secular psychologist
that analyzes all these dreams.
And by the way, ladies and gentlemen, evidence is evidence, right?
One plus one equals two.
That's not Christian math.
That's just true.
And sometimes, I think this is, it's so interesting because you see pastors like Andy Stanley go wrong because they take that too far.
Like they say, well, people aren't listening to what the Bible says.
So let's unhitch ourselves from the Old Testament.
It's like, no, no, no, no, no.
You do not unhitch yourself from the Old Testament, which was the Bible of Jesus.
No.
But on the other hand, it is wise to use any evidence you can because all truth is God's truth.
So if a psychologist writes about something,
about all these dreams or whatever. This is simply evidence. It's reality, and it can help to persuade.
And so I had a dream about, in 2016, about President Trump winning the election, him being like this
beastly character. And so we've been doing this documentary. Eric, you're in it, as you know,
maybe we'll talk about it a little bit. But in the midst of doing this project and thinking about
dreams and focusing on dreams, and we're coming up to what appears to be the most important election
of my life, where millions of people are crossing the border, where there seems to be international
instability like I haven't experienced before, where the stakes are higher than they've ever been
in relation to God and church and family and our posture towards him as a nation.
I don't, I don't, I have never seen such a secular.
Look, you're a young guy.
No one has ever seen.
I don't care if you're 140 years old.
No one has ever seen anything.
like what we're experiencing now.
And anyone who doesn't know that we are in an, I mean, in my book, the new book,
religionist Christianity, I spell out, we are in an existential crisis, the third in our history.
The first is the revolution, second is the civil war.
We are now in the third existential crisis.
And as this election goes, we'll determine, we'll determine the future of the world.
because America is the Bellwether Nation for the world appointed by God to, you know, be the freest, most prosperous nation.
So actually, before we go to the break, David, I want to tell people, we're sending people, we're calling people to fast and pray for this election.

Hey there, folks.
I'm talking to my pastor, David Englehart, who pastors King's Church here in New York City.
I think I'm preaching there in a couple of weeks.
29th.
But you preach there always, and it's wonderful.
So we're talking about some heavy stuff, Dave.
So let's go back to God spoke to you in a bizarre dream.
You've shared this with me.
You can't really get into the details right now.
But we have to have discernment.
And this is where you have to have spiritual maturity to know, is that God?
Is that just a dream dream that I can put to the side?
What is that?
These things are important.
So someone in your church had what you and I discern as a very, very important.
dream, a warning dream.
I don't know if we want to talk about that yet
or you want to keep going on this other thing.
I just want to talk about that right after I talk about this.
Yeah, go ahead.
You just close the last segment with
we're facing an existential crisis in the United States.
Yeah.
And I think that's exactly correct.
I mean, we look at the histories of nations.
We assume the future by looking at the past.
Somebody said history doesn't repeat itself.
It rhymes somebody.
Yeah, I said that.
Yeah.
And so when we look at Israel, the nation of Israel, in the promised land, massively blessed by God,
they start leaving God's way.
They start leaving his law.
And judgment comes upon them, and the nation splits.
And it becomes Judah and Benjamin, and then the rest of the ten tribes.
And the ten tribes completely loses their identity.
And the tribes that hold on to some modicum of the promises of God of the covenant,
or the old covenant, hold on to their identity.
and it appears that that is the future of the United States of America
if this existential crisis is not averted.
If the people that are called by his name, that's Christians, Christ, God came to flesh, Christians,
those are the people called by his name.
If they don't humble themselves and pray and seek his face, then we will have a national split.
And so that leads into the dream.
Rosa is a young mom in our church.
her and her husband Lucas, an incredible couple.
We love them dearly.
She had a dream.
She came to me.
She said, I don't want to tell you this dream.
She's not arrogant or a weirdo, spiritual person.
She's just someone that God speaks to.
And she said, I had a dream that Camalo won the election.
And I was having a pretty great Sunday up until that point, to be perfectly honest with you.
Yeah.
I was having a great week up until that point.
And she said, I had a dream that Camalo won the election.
And the idea was because Christians were being apathetic.
And they didn't care.
And they were saying, we've got it in the bag.
RFK's on the team.
Elon Musk is on the team now.
We don't have to do anything.
We don't have to seek God and pray.
Kamala wins the election.
She said millions more illegal immigrants cross over the border.
Continue the crush on our urban centers.
States began to secede from the Union.
And war was declared on the United States.
And for the first time in our history, after the revolution,
of foreign power was in the United States on the ground, specifically Russia, was on the ground.
We were at war in our nation.
And that all is reasonable.
That is not a kuk crazy idea if the leftists and the progressives continue to give weapons,
let's use the Bush term, of mass destruction to Ukraine to mess with Putin.
He's not just going to hang out and say no big deal.
So this international chaos is a possibility.
Obviously, millions more illegal immigrants crossing the border
and all of the hell that's been happening with apartment complexes and rape.
And by the way, we had a guy in this program, Jason Jones, J-A-E-S-O-N, different Jason Jones
than the one that we normally have on the program, who is an absolute expert on this.
He paints a nightmare scenario, folks, if you're paying attention, if you're paying attention,
Most Americans are definitely not paying attention.
Most Christians, quote, unquote, are definitely not paying attention.
If you're paying attention, you understand that it is logical, logical, that we could lose this nation on a level we have never dreamt.
That's what this dream seems to be a warning about.
This is very real.
This is a warning.
God warns us.
I mean, actually, this morning in our quiet time, prayer time, Suzanne and I were reading Luke 13.
and it's the thing where there's a tree, a fig tree for three years, it doesn't bear fruit.
And the guy's like, all right, cut it down.
Game over.
Done.
Strike three.
You're done.
Yes.
God is not infinitely patient.
And then I say, well, can we have another year?
We'll fertilize it.
Okay.
All right.
One more year.
And then if it doesn't bear fruit, we cut it down.
I say this when I'm talking about Bonhofer in the German church.
He didn't say like, hey, you know, you've got time.
at some point, game over.
You lose, the Nazis take over, real pastors are thrown in jail,
the nation goes to hell at the speed of light.
If you're so arrogant as to think that couldn't happen here,
you're part of the problem.
And this is what we're talking about.
This is a dream from God a warning.
It's like, get it right now or this will happen.
And guess what?
The Lord will allow it to happen because we didn't heed his cry,
which is why I was telling people go to Ericmataxis.com,
pray because we need to fast and pray.
It doesn't get more real than this kind of a warning.
And I, you know, it's a funny thing.
You had someone in your church pray over me, this amazingly gifted woman.
Actually doesn't go to your church, but she was visiting incredibly anointed.
And she prayed over Suzanne and me.
And that night, I woke up in the middle of the night, and this never happens to me.
Never.
and I felt God speak to me in the middle of the night,
call churches to fast and pray for the election.
This is not normal for me.
I hear people talk about this.
It doesn't happen to me.
Happen to me after our friend prayed over me, very anointed.
And I said, I'm going to go on the radio program,
and I'm going to call the nation, the churches of this nation,
to fast and pray for this election because it could not be more serious, folks.
Zero exaggeration.
There's a warning from God.
We're going to talk more about that.
Go to Ericmetaxis.com slash pray, sign your church up.
You get free access to the letter to the American Church film and weekly emails.
But this is all hands on deck.
We'll be right back with David Englehart.
Hey, folks.
I'm talking to my pastor, David Englehart, King's Church, here in New York City.
We're talking about some heavy stuff, brother.
Yep.
All right.
So this person in your church comes to you, and I know you, you're a man of spiritual maturity and depth.
And this person comes to you and shares this.
dream. This is very heavy.
And it's so heavy that I said, I want you to share this on my radio program with the country,
with everybody who's listening. Because God is alive and he speaks to us in love. He speaks to us in love.
He wants to speak to us. He wants us to hear his warning because he loves us, but he doesn't force us.
So the way you told me this dream, when you told me, I said, this is not, hey, what do you think?
This is serious.
You know, I'm reminded of Joseph who, you know, he's, a dream comes to him by one of the servants of Farrell.
And it's about these cows.
And it's a relatively horrific dream, you know, these emaciated, monstrous cows, eating all these other cows.
Carnivorous cows.
It's weird.
It's seriously like a nightmare sequence.
It could be.
But Joseph is a man that can, first of all, discern.
God's voice, and then second of all, when he goes to Pharaoh, they respond rightly, and then they
bring salvation to the world. That's one of the rare cases in Scripture. In other words, the reason
I have hope for America today is because I'm not one of these people that says, whenever God
speaks through his prophets, they reject it. Usually, yes, usually. But I do believe that there are
times when people say yes. I mean, Noah hears from God. And he's from God. And he's
He does what God asks.
God wants us to win.
God wants us to hear his warnings.
Well, and there's two things that one of the reasons we are friends is because we love Jesus
and we understand this hierarchy of the kingdom of heaven comes first, but we both deeply love our nation.
And our nation is a relatively secular place these days, but we want God to save our nation
and we see the judgment of God impending.
It's coming unless the believers repent and do something.
Now, God will still preserve his people.
He's going to preserve his people.
But my home may be destroyed.
My neighborhood may be destroyed.
My land may be destroyed.
It may be given over to the bad guys as chastisement of God
because God continues to judge nations to this day.
And to whom much is given, much is required.
So many people watch something like this.
And they're like, well, then why isn't God judging, you know, Uganda or Norway the same way?
Because the blessing of God hasn't come to Uganda or Norway the same way.
To whom much is given, then there's a fiduciary duty that comes with that blessing of God,
not to be hedonists and stream porn all over the globe, but to actually be righteous and have a standard with which we execute our blessing and dispense the blessing of God.
And that's why there's a higher standard.
And that's why there's a potential for judgment.
And these God doesn't care, agnostic-y kind of Christians don't recognize, like, yeah, God does care.
And he continues to judge the nations, and he will judge ours if we don't respond to his warnings.
In fact, I would say he's already judging us as part of the warning.
Like, he's giving us a taste to say it's going to keep going in this direction if you don't repent, if you don't.
You know, and it's Second Chronicles, you know, if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, why does God give us that?
He gives it to bless us to say, do this.
Here's the answer.
Do this.
So, anyway, go to Eric Mataxis.com slash pray and sign up for this.
We'll be talking about this.
In the weeks ahead, we'll be sending emails.
But this is real.
And I don't think most people really understand how.
bad it could get. They're like the Germans in 3433, 33. They thought, well, it's bad, but
how bad can it get? How bad can it get? Do nothing, and you'll find out in 10 minutes, and you
will be very sorry you did nothing, because God warned you. He tried to get you to do the right
thing, and you said, I don't want to pay that price. That's too much. I don't want to be uncomfortable.
And the Lord says, you don't have any idea of the meaning of uncomfortable. Please do this for your sake.
for my sake, for the Lord's sake, do it.
But so the dream, again, there was a vividness to it.
So say it again.
Yeah, the main points about first, Kamala Harris being elected
because Christians were not engaging, we're not praying, we're not taking this seriously.
Oh, she's just laughing.
No, she's not going to get elected.
It's fine.
I don't have to pray.
I don't have to pray.
then immigration increases.
Like you could say, how could it possibly increase?
How could we have millions more across the border?
Well, wait a few months.
If Christians don't engage, you'll see exactly how that happens.
States start to secede, which is the logical consequence of you're not allowing us to be sovereign and have, like, to, you know.
If your federal government is not protecting you, you're going to do, if you're a good governor or whatever and you're in a red state,
going to be, okay, we need to protect ourselves. So we will, we will secede from the godless
overrun by illegal immigrants. And, you know, a lot of warriors sent for whether from China or
other places or Russia, we're, we don't want that. So we're going to protect our own borders.
Right. I mean, but, you know, nobody's ever talking about that. That's a chilling concept.
Absolutely. That's the end of America in, it's kind of like the civil war, like secession of
states. Except we don't have the political will to go to civil war, to hold the union together.
because we don't believe in the nation anymore.
And we have our guys go out and do men on the street stuff for different church projects.
And we say, do you love America?
And most people say, nah, not really.
Is America good or bad?
Yeah, it's kind of horrible.
You know, we had slavery.
The rest of the world didn't have slavery.
And you're like, what?
Yeah, there's slavery in the world today.
And by the way, I think we abolished slavery.
Oh, yeah, we did.
Yeah.
There was a girl that was talking to Charlie Kirk yesterday on a video that came on on YouTube.
and she said America started slavery.
College age, not a seven-year-old,
college-educated lady in college that was saying America started slavery.
What's the point?
The point is like we, judgment of God, we hate our own land.
We hate our own home.
You know, children honor your father and mother.
We hate our political father and mother.
We hate our home.
That's all manifestation of turning away from God, rejecting his blessing.
It's so sad.
I mean, the fact that we have,
If you think it's important to go to college, folks, how about no, it's not?
Because the level of idiocy and ignorance on college campuses is staggering.
How could this young woman not be deeply ashamed of how ignorant she is?
I mean, if you're that ignorant, totally keep your mouth shut because you don't want to advertise it.
But we're dealing with ignorance where they're not even aware that maybe they don't know stuff because their friends are saying this.
It's that bad.
And that's why those of us who are not ignorant, we've got to speak up.
We'll be right back.
Go to Eric Metaxus.com slash pray.
Welcome back talking to my friend David Englehart,
who's the pastor of King's Church here in New York City,
where I go to church in New York City.
And I keep saying when I'm preaching,
I was just in Prestonwood Baptist in Texas and Dallas,
saying that you are the church.
church, and literally you, one person, one person could be the tipping point of everything.
What you do or don't do could be the tipping point.
And you were just saying something like that off the air.
Yeah, I mean, God reaches through that spacetime continuum into mankind to communicate with
him because he loves us so much he sent his son to die for us.
He really actually loves us and doesn't want pain and horror to happen to us.
And so when that happens in the context of Joseph, God's bringing a famine on Egypt.
He's going to do that unless they respond.
And God places Joseph there, and Joseph responds to the dream rightly.
He communicates with Pharaoh.
Pharaoh responds rightly, and it saves the entire nation.
And I think one of the most important points of the story is it's one guy who is walking with God
that rightly sees the dream, receives the dream, and then,
communicates and obedience. He does what's right before the Lord. He doesn't say like,
that's too bad. I don't have my whole family with me. I'm here alone by myself. Or I don't
have my whole church or my whole nation. It's like, there's a voice that says, your vote doesn't matter.
It's a blue city. It doesn't matter. New York's always going to go blue. It's the voice that
cuts out your legs from underdews. But the truth is, in the biblical narrative, it's always one guy
that's responding in obedience to some crazy task. Oh, yeah, you're going to go save the world.
You're going to go save the world today.
Well, that's stupid.
Let's be rational, Eric.
Let's be reasonable.
Okay, see, that's in my new book, Religinalist Christianity.
I talk about the idol of fatalism.
I hear this all the time only from Christians that we're under judgment.
There's nothing I can do.
There's nothing I can do.
The idea that there's nothing you can do, that's the voice of Satan speaking to you in a religious guise.
It sounds so holy.
Oh, we're under judgment.
That sounds like you're really holy to say that.
Well, yeah, we are.
under judgment, we deserve to be under judgment, but the idea that there's nothing you can do,
that is the voice of the devil. And that works, folks. People listen to that. Christians listen
to that. Don't listen to that. There's a God of our fathers in this nation. It's actually true
that we were founded by a bunch of Christian people that wanted to serve God and love their families.
It's like a crazy idea. It's like this crazy idea. What if we all just serve God together and
love their families? And then the Lord would bless our business.
is and you know what I mean like what a wild you know concept that's actually how we were founded
and we've turned away from the god of our fathers as a nation we've turned away from the god of
our fathers and that's what we're trying to do is say turn back to the and so wherever you
are on that line when you hear the dream whether it's roses dream or eric's dream or whatever
dream persuades you know if you don't do anything you certainly don't love your neighbor of
yourself you certainly don't love your countryman
as yourself. You certainly don't love them enough to then fast and pray and take a stand.
And people are always like, well, why do you care about politics? Well, because I think Jesus said
all of the law and the prophets are summed up into love God and love your neighbor as yourself.
And I have this very simple idea that if you don't care about your nation falling under the
judgment of God and war breaking out on your land, where is war going to come to? I wonder.
Like, where is it going to come? It's probably not going to come somewhere in the, in the
of Kansas, it's probably going to come where my family and my church lives and the people
that I love and I bleed for live. That's probably where it's going to come. So I deeply care about
these things, which is why we preach the gospel on the streets, was why we're in the
subways and doing all the stuff that we do. You were just preaching with us a couple of weeks ago
in the subway. In the subway. New Yorkers would respond to the gospel. That was awesome.
I want to keep you for one more segment, but folks, talking to the pastor of King's Church.
here in New York City and the website I'm sending you to is
Ericmetaxis.com slash pray to join us
in fasting and praying for the nation.
This is very serious.
Yeah, Ericmetaxis.com slash pray.
