Starting point is 00:00:40 Chuck Schumer and AOC. Here now is Mr. Completed My Bucket List at age 12, Eric Mattaxas. Folks, welcome back. We are now in hour two, and I've dragged my friend Jared Lamaster of the Babylon B across the border from hour one to hour two. So we are still in the silly portion of the program. Coming up in the next segment, my interview with the Heritage Foundation's Kevin Roberts, thrilled to get him on the show. the Heritage Foundation are heroes, and Kevin Roberts is a very big reason for that.
Starting point is 00:01:14 So when we come back, we're going to be talking about the state of things in America. But right now, we're still in the silly part of the program, and I'm talking to Jared LeMaster. Jared, so you were just talking about this film comes out tomorrow. Yeah. And you were just saying something when we went to the break. I don't know. Do you remember what topic we were talking about? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:35 We were talking about you being a celebrity. Oh, yeah, I remember that now. Yeah, we were talking, that was, you know, I'm sure that was your favorite thing we were talking about. Yeah, we actually were, we were traveling around the United States. We went to Washington, D.C., we went to Nashville, we went to New York, we went to Dallas, and we got a bunch of, we stayed here. There was a great time. We got to go to Dennis Prager's little sanctum, sanctum, where he smoked cigars with his dog, Otto.
Starting point is 00:02:07 I don't know if you remember Otto's dead now. But anyway, so we got to go on. We got to hang out with a bunch of really, really cool people and talk about great stuff. We got a lot of interviews on the street, too. So that was kind of my part. I got to go out and interview people on the street. And what's their opinions were about whether or not Trump should be banned from the ballot and whether or not, you know, what January 6 was, where they were on January 6th.
Starting point is 00:02:31 And, you know, the whole idea is based on this idea that, you know, Kamala Harris came out, like right after January 6 happened. And the left has been using this as a cudgel for the last three years. They have such a long memory when it comes to January 6. They cannot remember two months ago when Trump got, like, almost got assassinated, but they, they, or the border, like, they have no memory for that. They have all this memory for January 6. So we just decided to kind of see what was this really about, like, was this something that we all need to really worry about? Was this the worst attack on, you know, on the democracy since Western civilization? It wasn't, it was. It was. By the way, not only wasn't it the worst attack on democracy, it was no attack on democracy,
Starting point is 00:03:12 unless you count the FBI's attack on democracy by inciting this fake riot insurrection. That's the attack on democracy. And what they hate, of course, is that we're on to them. In the film, you are mocking them. You're mocking the official narrative. And I want to be clear, there are many, many Americans, including many friends. friends of mine that still believe the ridiculous J6 narrative. They're still convinced that it was a thing.
Starting point is 00:03:44 They're convinced, and they don't seem to care that there are people in prison now who did absolutely nothing. It's one of the most despicable abuses of power in the history of our country. It's utterly despicable. And I want to say, in all seriousness, to you and the folks of the Babylon B, God bless you for mocking this evil narrative. It needs to be mocked. And look, there are a lot of serious documentaries.
Starting point is 00:04:09 It's great to have one that is genuinely funny. I almost said seriously funny, but that's confusing. Yeah, no, we're serious about being funny. That's true. Yeah. Well, so we had a keep going, yeah. Well, it's just interesting. We ran, like you said, we got to interview a lot of the people that spent time in jail,
Starting point is 00:04:31 10 months in solitary confinement. We're doing basically nothing. Same thing. One guy moved a lectern. We got to interview him. Adam, he's a great guy. And he literally moved that lectern 20 feet and did a fake speech and then spent what six months in prison, federal prison. And they were lying to him in prison. They were lying to his family saying he didn't want to see them. Like there's all kinds of things. They were they would say they were treating him to try to isolate him from his family. Like it's just it's absolutely crazy what they did. And it's such an abuse of power. And so we're trying to expose it. And, you know, the greatest thing is, you know, when you stand up, you do something, you get a lot of kickback. But we have all these people around us that are experiencing the same thing. We have this community and people we need to stand together. Now's the time to stand up and say something while we have a chance and, you know, get out there and speak up.
Starting point is 00:05:26 And, you know, it's okay. The consequences. We're looking at these other people. They got to go. They had prison time. You might not get a promotion or something. Well, see, this is the point. This is why I want to applaud you guys at the Babylon B for constantly mocking the evil because we need to do that.
Starting point is 00:05:45 And we need to wake people up to the fact that it is evil. It is happening in America. And if you're not part of the solution, you've heard this. If you're not part of the solution, you're genuinely part of the problem. I say to every Christian out there, if you don't care about this, you're guilty of making it happen. and what happened in the German church is happening right now. And so when people stand against it and speak against it as you have done, and as so many have done, my friend John Strand was on this program,
Starting point is 00:06:15 he was in solitary for four months. Ladies and gentlemen, this is evil. If you don't care, if you don't vote, you are helping evil. And there are many Christians in America helping evil. I want to be real clear, so you understand that's the case. So the film is called January 6th, the most deadliest day. That might not be grammatically correct, but I'm going to let it go. I want to read the verbiage you guys have put out because this is, you know, yeah, got to read this.
Starting point is 00:06:46 It says, the crack team of journalists at the Babylon B turn their powers of investigation toward the most deadliest day in all of human history, January 6, 2021. They hunt down the dangerous criminals who stormed the capital, visit the haunting sites where incalculable numbers of people died on that fateful day, and ask experts really smart questions. You will laugh, you will cry, you will cower in terror at the monsters who almost ended democracy once and for all. January 6th, never forget to remember. I already forgot the phrase. What is it? Never forget to remember.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Never forget. Don't ever forget to remember. If you forget to remember, you're forgetting. Don't forget to remember. All right, so tell us again, BabylonB.com. It drops tomorrow. Who is in it? He said, Dennis Prager.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Yeah. Dennis Prager. We have you, Michael Knaw's. Let's see. Who else? We got Jacob Chansley. Buffalo guy. He's the J6 shaman, the Q shaman.
Starting point is 00:08:06 The Q shaman. I interviewed him on this program last year. He's a character. But I got to tell you, you know, what he went through, it's just, it's so horrible what they did to him. No, it's terrible. He was just, he was the guy, you know, that he was out in front of everybody. And so he was the perfect guy to persecute. but we had Adam over there that was moving the lectern.
Starting point is 00:08:33 We had who else? I mean, me, I'm in it. This guy, Travis, he's in it. Kyle's in it. Okay, I don't want to forget this. The Phantom Zone, definitely the funniest part in the movie. I mean, I burst out loud is when Kyle Manning sends me to the Phantom Zone and I disappear. I'm obliterated from the screen.
Starting point is 00:08:52 It's very well done. When he was describing this to me, when we were filming it, I was like, I don't get it, but I'll go, I'll play along. It's absolutely hilarious. It's absolutely, you're going to want to see it over and over again, because it's just insane. He sets me up and then Shazam. He sends me off.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Well, we're at a time. I got to say, Jared Lamaster, we love you. We love the Babylon B. Tomorrow, the film comes out January 6th, the most deadliest day. Thank you, my friend. We'll have you back. Got to get you in the studio. Before we go to our serious part of the program,

Folks, in case you didn't know, I'm very excited about my next guest.
Starting point is 00:12:32 I believe his name is Kevin Roberts. I believe he is the president of the Heritage Foundation. Kevin, welcome to this program. Eric, I am a longtime fan of you and your work. It's a real pleasure to be on with you. I'm amazed you're aware of me. And, you know, people who are aware of me always say, oh, you're being falsely humble.
Starting point is 00:12:53 No, being genuinely humble because I actually am amazed because there are tons of people, you know, that don't know of me or my. books or whatever. So I'm very gratified when somebody that I admire, particularly as I admire you, would be aware of my work. I heard you speak at the NRB a few months ago, and I'll say bluntly, as much as I have always thought of the Heritage Foundation, I think you personally take it to a new level, so I'm very particularly grateful for you. And I want to talk to you about anything. So what should we talk about today? Let's talk about the future of America. There's a lot at stake, and I think a lot
Starting point is 00:13:36 of people, especially people like you and me in your audience, who are people of faith, who think that if this election, for example, doesn't go a particular way, that maybe the future of the American Republic is dire, I'm not necessarily at the point of being desponded, Eric, if anything, quite the opposite. But I do think we have to, particularly as people of faith, be very realistic about what is at stake, whether it's for our faith or for sort of the secular aspects of the Republic. And so, as you know, I'll talk about anything, including that, college football, but as a historian, I care deeply about making sure that in modern America, we honor the founding principles of this country, which are, of course, the permanent things, the eternal ideas of our religious
Starting point is 00:14:20 liberty, of our other natural rights. Well, okay, so what you have just said in effect, or at least I'll put it the way I would put it. We're in an existential crisis. We have never ever in our lifetimes been at a point where America on the founder's model has been at the precipice. If Donald Trump is not elected, now, by the way, electing Donald Trump won't instantly solve all these problems, but if he is not elected, I want everyone who listens to this program to know it is over. Ladies and gentlemen, it is over. It's kind of like at some point they come and they evict you from the house. It doesn't happen immediately. They'll give you some grace, but at some point it does happen. And we are at that point. Kamala Harris is, you know, she represents the existential threat.
Starting point is 00:15:21 She is going to be going to double down. Anything you've seen that you didn't like under Obama. or under Biden, get ready because here it is. And I guess, Kevin, what shocks me is that there are many conservatives and Christians who still don't get this. I mean, I have to tell you, I could not be more disgusted with Mike Pence and George W. Bush. They do not seem to care that the nation will be. They don't seem to understand that the nation will be lost. They have not endorsed Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:15:56 it's mind-blowing to me that they can't put aside their issues with the president and endorse him because the nation is at stake. They don't seem to understand that the nation is at stake or they don't care. It just, I had to mention it because they claim to be conservatives. And yet, somehow they don't feel like they need to stick their necks out. It's really unconscionable just from the standpoint of policy and history. And I would add to that list, of course, Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney. And if you think about those of us who look at this argument you're making about America facing an existential crisis, not just from the standpoint of how the election goes,
Starting point is 00:16:38 but even in a little bit longer-term view, which is the state of society, the state of culture, it's really clear, Eric, from the standpoint of policy, that Kamala Harris, the vice president, and the governor of Minnesota, her running mate, in terms of what they've done with policy, have shown us what they will do if they are elected president and vice president. So for anyone who sees themselves, as the people we've mentioned do, as so-called lifelong conservatives, it's unconscionable from the standpoint of the Constitution, from the standpoint of religious liberty, for them to say that there isn't a contrast or a clear enough contrast between the radical left and the mainstream center right in this country.
Starting point is 00:17:18 And so one of the things that I've been doing over the last few weeks is, to your point, hearing from friends, particularly friends of faith, that maybe they're not interested in voting for this election because they see former President Trump as being imperfect, is reminding them that we're all imperfect. We are all sinners before God. And it's really important for us to understand, particularly people of faith who are politically conservative, that if the vice president of the United States wins this election, that she didn't choose some centrist to be her running mate. I mean, her running mate in the last days has talked about ending the electoral college. That's not just some minor constitutional matter. It is all about making sure that self-governance is not revitalized in this country and that there is a complete concentration of power in Washington, D.C., against the interests of people like those you mentioned. And so I think it's vital for people of faith to put aside whatever minor or moderate concerns they have about the conservative side and recognize that this really isn't just about this election or one particular candidate. It is about the American way of life. You know, you probably know that I wrote a big book about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and I find it amazing that so many people, so many Christians read that book and flattered themselves that they would be right there with Bonhoeffer standing against evil right now, folks. If you are going to a church that is not addressing these issues, you are aiding and abetting evil.
Starting point is 00:18:46 I just throw that out there to hopefully make sense. some people wake up and understand you are helping evil if you're going to a church because many good German Christians went to churches that, you know, they didn't actively support murdering millions of Jews. They just didn't say anything. They didn't feel it was their Christian duty to speak up long before the murder, the extermination of the Jewish race was underway. And they aided and abetted it and God is a judge. And we are at a moment like that now. And if you don't believe me, well, it's between you and the Lord. But, you know, when we talk about the church today, I've kind of had it with the church. I don't really believe that many people who think they're
Starting point is 00:19:38 part of the church are part of the church. In other words, it's one of these things where, you know, Jesus says, you know, many will call me Lord, Lord. There have always been people who have fooled themselves into thinking that they're part of what God is doing, but God says that they're not. And I worry about the souls of Christians and churches that are looking the other way, no different than Mike Pence or George W. Bush. I expect nothing of Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney,
Starting point is 00:20:09 but I expect something of my putative brothers in Christ, Mike Pence and George W. Bush. And their silence staggers me. It absolutely staggers me. But it's interesting, Kevin, because it does sort of show us where we are. There's a sifting going on. We've never seen anything like this. I mean, it's not 2004.
Starting point is 00:20:32 It's not 1985. We're in a moment where we're seeing, quote, unquote, conservatives and quote unquote evangelical Christians advocate for anything but Trump not seeming to understand this is the end of America as we know it. And again, maybe some people think that's hyperbole or it's emotion. I would be really thrilled if it were just hyperbole and emotion. But it's it is what we're facing. Well, it is what we're facing. And I'll just say, I don't think that it's hyperbole.
Starting point is 00:21:07 I often make that caveat myself, Eric, when I make a similar argument saying that we might have the 2020. to take back this country. And by that, you know, when I use that kind of language and what we do at Heritage, we're referring to taking back the institutions that the radical left has captured over the last 40, 50, 70 years. And when you take that little bit longer view,
Starting point is 00:21:28 that is just beyond the obvious consequences of this upcoming election, you realize that people like Mr. Pence and Mr. Bush, of all people, particularly given their stated faith, ought to recognize, A, no one's perfect, B, that this country is going to go down the tubes if the vice president and governor of Minnesota, elected president and vice president.
Starting point is 00:21:51 And so that leads me to say the following. When I've heard from friends, as I mentioned before, friends of faith, they say, you know, I think I'm just going to sit this election out. I try to remind them of the moral obligation they have to make a choice, the moral obligation they have to participate in the process. And then if they're going to make this choice, on what policy grounds, if they're looking at what the vice president, has done the last three and a half years, but also for her entire career, on what grounds,
Starting point is 00:22:17 if they look at the policy record of the governor of Minnesota, can they say that they can support those policies? It just seems absolutely impossible to us. That's why we created this website, dangerously liberal.com, which is to point out purely from a policy point of view, the policy record of the vice president. And when you do that, particularly as a person of faith, who considers themselves on the center right, maybe a diet, a die of the president, in the wool conservative. It's very obvious from immigration to the economy to matters of religious liberty that, as you say, if that side prevails in this election, we all have reason to be very worried about the future of the republic. Folks, check out the Heritage Foundation, and you can also
Starting point is 00:22:59 go to 25truth.com, 25truth.com. Kevin, thank you. Oh, you're a hard one. I know that you've got your reasons. Again, Neutrametics, N-U-T-R-A-M-E-D-I-X. Nutrametics.com, use the code Eric for 15% off. Folks, welcome back. I get to talk to Kevin Roberts, who is the head of the Heritage Foundation.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Kevin, I tell you something, it gives me hope for America that you are the head of the Heritage Foundation. There's so much we can talk about. We won't get to much today, but I want to have you back. Because, as we were saying earlier, we're in an existential crisis. And we were talking before about, I mean, if we really want to know how we got here, in my opinion, since I'm in the business today of throwing stones or shoes at the head of Mike Pence. and George W. Bush, the idea that we look to them as leaders who now manifestly don't get it, it's humbling to us who thought that they got it. And now we realize, oh, not so much. But it's how we got here.
Starting point is 00:26:00 It's how we got to a point where we have the genuine eradication of America on the founder's vision, an existential crisis right now is because of the lack of leadership of folks like George W. Bush and Mike Pence, both of whom I knew and very, very publicly admired. So it is really heartbreaking to me, to them not understanding where we are. But it's encouraging to me that you and Heritage get it and so many other patriots get it. We have, you know, a couple of weeks before the election. And you and I know that if, by the grace of God, Donald Trump is reelected, we got a lot of work to do. We have a tremendous amount of work to do.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Thank you, by the way, Eric, for your compliments of me. But I can accept them only by saying that the great work that Heritage does is not because of me, but because of the great team that I get to work with. Thank you for those compliments. And to their credit, the credit of my colleagues, many of whom, deeply admire both Vice President Pence and former President Bush, and some of them worked for either of the two gentlemen, they're disappointed. Now, of course, these heritage folks are people of faith like you and me, and so I think they hope and pray that maybe one day, in the heritage
Starting point is 00:27:21 spirit of adding and multiplying, building the movement and rebuilding the republic, that maybe both Mr. Pence and Mr. Bush will kind of come back into the fold. And maybe that can happen after the election if President Trump and Senator Vance prevail. That's our focus, Eric, even less so on the election itself and more so, what do we do do regarding the task ahead the hours after the election? Hopefully, by the way, we know the outcome of the election within hours after election day. If that's the case, then I can say on behalf of my colleagues at Heritage that we're ready to go.
Starting point is 00:27:54 As you know, we always put together every four years a menu of conservative policies for the president and vice president to consider. We always put together a list of names of people for them to consider. A little bit of that has been in the news because the left understands that the center right understands the urgency of the moment. And Heritage, of course, is privileged to play a leading role in that. All of that to say this. The reason we do what we do, the reason we know what time it is, is I like to say, is because even though we're headquartered in Washington, D.C., we are not of the imperial city. We are of the American people, millions of Americans who give us feedback on the work we're doing, supporting us with small gifts, medium-sized gifts. We need more of that. We need more of the DNA of the
Starting point is 00:28:42 ordinary American inside Washington, D.C., particularly if our side prevails in the election. And so all of that to say, two things. You've got to get out and vote. You've got to be really studied about the policy contrast. And secondly, we have to understand that if our side prevails, it is not time to sit on our hands. That's actually the time for conservatives, for people of faith, to be as active as ever, because we've got a window of opportunity with a popular will to help implement policies at the federal and state level that allow us to take back this country. I keep saying Trump is not enough.
Starting point is 00:29:17 In other words, we've got to win in November, but that's when the work begins. And I know that heritage is at the forefront of figuring out what that work is. what we need to do, who are the personnel and what are the policies that need to be implemented, ex post facto. Just wanted to throw in some Latin for our, we've got a big Latin audience, and I just want to throw that in. This old Latin teacher really appreciates that, Eric. Are you kidding? You were a Latin teacher?
Starting point is 00:29:48 Yes, Latin 1 and Latin 2, so not super advanced. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Really? At what point in your career? I mean, come on. Please tell us. I love this.
Starting point is 00:29:58 I took a lot of Latin as a student in high school and college. And then when I started this K-12 Christian school, I was headmaster, custodian, and our Latin teacher had to leave mid-year. And so I filled in because I had taken some Latin. I'm sure the teaching wasn't all that great. But, you know, I still like Latin. I probably could still do a little, still do a little bit. De Gustabus non-est despotundum. Just wanted to just want to make that clear, folks.
Starting point is 00:30:24 You don't have to agree with us. A plus, my friend. I never took Latin, but, you know, being a reader of what I like to call books, you stumble on phrases now and again. But how delightful to learn that you were? Of course, of course. It makes perfect sense. You know, we're talking about a lot of stuff. I just want to say that folks, if you're interested in finding out more about the Heritage Foundation, there are a lot of websites you can go to. 25. You can go to 25truth.com. And the Heritage Foundation website is what, Kevin? Very simple. Heritage.org. Oh, my goodness. I don't even know that I knew that. It couldn't be simpler than that. Heritage.org, folks. Heritage.org. I want to say in closing, folks, that one of the reasons I have
Starting point is 00:31:21 hope that we're not going to lose everything. One of the reasons is the heritage. Foundation and Kevin Roberts. Kevin Roberts, thank you for being with us. Got to get you back soon. Thanks, Eric. Thanks for being a great American, and I'll be happy to join you again. God bless you. Same to you.

Starting point is 00:33:52 Welcome back. Okay. This has been a roller coaster of a day. Yeah. And I say that in the negative sense of roller coaster. I can't wait to watch you get disappeared in that movie. Well, the Babylon B film, BabylonB.com with me, the part where Kyle Mann, like, says, Phantom Zone, and I explode and go to the Phantom Zone.
Starting point is 00:34:26 It is very funny. Yeah. Yeah. It's very, very funny. At my expense. I'm dating myself here, but there used to be a commercial back in the 80s for Calgon bath soap. And they would say Calgon take me away, and then something magical would happen to these housewives. It was kind of like that.
Starting point is 00:34:43 And they would be in a bubble bath. Yeah, right. But Calgon was like a detergent liquid for pots and pans. All right, anyway, we'll edit that out. I want to talk about a couple of fun things that we have to look forward to. Number one, I think I mentioned it. Oh, here it is. Oh, I happen to have one here.
Starting point is 00:35:01 the gorgeous Socrates and the City book, Conversations on the Examined Life, Volume 1. Every year we're going to do one of these. It's very attractive. It is so beautiful. If I saw that book walking down the street, I might cat call at it. That's how attractive it is. You might say, hubba, hubba, hubba, hubba. Oh, it's just a book.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Yeah. No, it's beautiful, and it's going to make a great Christmas gift. No kidding. This book, the Socrates book, which if you pre-order, comes out December 10th, If you pre-order it, you get 20% off. It is a great, great Christmas gift, really and truly, because the conversation's in it. I mean, you'll see when you read them, but they're very varied, but everyone is very powerful. I mean, I got choked up editing it.
Starting point is 00:35:48 I said, this is amazing stuff, and I'm so glad we have it on the printed page. It's beautiful. It's readable. I also want to mention, if you go to my website, Eric Mataxis.com, the Bonhofer book, This is the paperback. The hardcover is available for $20. Wow. At ericmetaxis.com.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Now, I want to be clear, you know the Bonhofer film is coming out November 22nd. Mark your calendar to see it that weekend. But this is an evangelistic opportunity because the film, the Bonhofer film, it's not a Christian film. Kevin Sorbo is not in it. Oh. So you know. if Kevin Sorbo is not in it, it's not a Christian film. It's just a mainstream film.
Starting point is 00:36:35 And so it's the kind of film you can take anybody to because it's a great film. The guy who wrote the screenplay and directed it wrote the screenplay for Sully, the Clint Eastwood film. He's a Hollywood guy. He produced Todd Komernicki. He's been on this program. He also produced the movie Elf. He produced Elf, ladies and gentlemen. So Bob Newhart is also not in the Bonhofer film.
Starting point is 00:36:59 But it's a great film, and I'm going to be saying this over the weeks ahead. It's an evangelistic opportunity. And if you get somebody the Bonhoeffer book, if they like the film, which they certainly will, and you get them the Bonhofer book, get them a hardcover because it's a big book. Get it at Ericmetaxis.com because that's the best price. But you can also get an autographed copy if you want a special, you know, whatever. But it's a way, it's kind of like with the Socrates book, it's a way to help people toward thinking about the big questions. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:37 And when you're reading something by yourself and somebody's not talking at you, you can kind of, you know, you can kind of think through this stuff. And when you encounter the Bonhoeffer story, it leads you toward God. You know, that's why I wrote it, because I know his story is so powerful that it can't help but lead you in the direction of the Lord that he lived and died for. So I just want to mention that. Yeah, we saw it the other night. You know, obviously we've seen it a couple times. But even after seeing it before, you're definitely left with your thoughts at the end of the film. It's a very powerful ending.
Starting point is 00:38:12 And it's one of those films that kind of sneaks up on you and doesn't leave you for a while. So if you bring people to come to it, there'll be lots of conversations in the days and weeks after. Yeah. Yeah. I am thinking about bringing Kevin Sorbo to the movie. Is that okay? No, that makes it a Christian film. Well, what if he's just watching it with me in the aisle?
Starting point is 00:38:28 I know. What about Bob Newhart? No, let me just be clear in case you're pushing me, you're going to make me say it. Kevin Sorbo is banned from the film. No, no, no, no. You're banned. I already bought him a ticket. Kevin Sorbo is banned from this film.
Starting point is 00:38:44 I'm going to have to reach out. I have no right to do that. And I don't care. I'm doing it. Okay, I want to mention. Fendigo is going to have to give me a refund because I bought a ticket for the Sorbs. All right. Well, we have a lot of, I mentioned Sophego.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Socrates in the city. We have a lot of Socrates stuff coming up. We're doing one in Philadelphia. Yeah. In a few weeks, we've never done one in Philadelphia before. If you know anybody in the Pennsylvania area, whatever, it's going to be kind of amazing. We've got a lot of stuff going on. We have a December 10th, 25th anniversary gala. That's a big deal, folks. You want to get to that. We're going to have a lot of special guests there. And Kevin Sorbo will not be there. Oh, he might be dressed up like Santa Claus. He's banned. He's going to sneak in. Sorbo is banned. There's also an event on the 30th in D.C. Is that also Socrates technically?
Starting point is 00:39:32 Yes, it's an event. I'm going to actually speak about Bonhofer. We're going to show the film. At the museum of the Bible. At the museum of the Bible. Go to Ericmetaxis.com where it says my schedule, all this stuff is on there. You'd probably also find it at the Socrates and the city website. I want to talk about fasting and praying for this election. We set up a thing at Ericmetaxis.com slash pray. If your church is not involved, sign up at Ericmataxis.com slash pray to exhort pastors and churches to fast and pray for the upcoming election. It's an existential crisis. It's for everything.
Starting point is 00:40:14 And you're getting some very foolish people saying that it's okay not to vote. Let me be real clear. It's not okay not to vote. It's not even slightly okay not to vote. people whom the Lord has commanded us to love are going to suffer. Love your neighbor. Your neighbor is going to suffer if the wrong people get in power. And by the wrong people, I will never mispronounce Kamala Harris's name on this program.
Starting point is 00:40:48 But if the wrong people get in power, the policies that are enacted, first of all, they're going to crush the church. But it's not about the church. every American is going to suffer. And when Americans suffer, the whole world suffers, because God has appointed this nation to be a bellwether nation, to be a beacon of freedom in the world. So when Christians say they don't want to vote or they think they're not going to vote, they say, I'm going to sit this one out, I'm going to sit on the fence. I want to be real clear, the devil owns the fence, and you're serving the devil.
Starting point is 00:41:18 Now, I know you wouldn't do that consciously, but now I've told you, and you're responsible for that information. When we come back, I want to read, we got a couple of letters from people who are are fasting and praying for this election. But please go to ericmetaxis.com slash pray, and you'll see all the information there. If you want to know about the crews, go to erikmetaxis.com slash cruise. We'll be right back. Folks, I keep mentioning that we've been calling people to fast and pray for the election,
Starting point is 00:42:16 calling churches to do that. And Chris, you shared with me this morning. some folks have written in who are doing this. And I said, I want to read these on the air to encourage people, to encourage your church to do this. And you can sign your church up at Ericmetaxis.com slash pray. We sent out a weekly letter, email. But I want to read one from a church in Fort Worth.
Starting point is 00:42:40 This is so encouraging. It says the person writing this says that she felt the same burden that we shared on this program and is heading up fasting and praying. time in their church from October 1st through November 5th, so this is already happening. And she sent this out to church members and her Bible study group and her Christian friends. She writes, we're well aware that we're living through some dark times, but each of us is here for such a time as this. King's Cross Fellowship, that's this church in Fort Worth, is calling believers to do what God
Starting point is 00:43:12 asks us to do as the church when our land is in distress. Our natural inclination is to make our primary focus stopping the perpetrators of evil, but the scripture tells us something different. The Lord says in Chronicle 714 that if my people who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sins, and will heal their land. So it's God's people's responsibility to repent and pray when evil is flourishing. And this obviously doesn't mean we don't stand against evil and take action, but we pray. So we're responsible for allowing the darkness to thrive if we do nothing. We must be the ones to push it back.
Starting point is 00:43:52 The word also makes clear that fasting is part of the believer's walk. This is where it gets to the hardcore stuff because a lot of us, myself included, were like, yeah, fasting, I don't know, really. Well, Jesus says in Matthew 617 through 18, when you fast, anoint your head, wash your face. It's obvious that we who call ourselves Christians need to get serious on a number of levels and we're missing something. There's a power. in this. So this church says they're going to have a time of fasting and prayer for the welfare of the nation prior to the election. It's a sacrifice to focus on seeking the Lord through prayer during the time that we would be indulging in something for ourselves. The fast can be giving up
Starting point is 00:44:34 one meal a day, one meal a week, fasting from alcohol, crack cocaine. Just kidding. Just kidding. Fasting from sugar, whatever it is. It's between you and the Lord. But this is exciting to me. That's the church in Fort Worth. And we also got a letter from somebody who says, I'm an associate pastor in Lake Villa, Illinois, at Chana Lake's Community Bible Church. We're doing 40 days of prayer and fasting for the election and hosting weekly prayer meetings
Starting point is 00:45:02 and encouraging small group and individual prayer and giving out prayer cards. Thank you for initiating this, John Engberg. I've got to tell you, this is God. This is God calling his people to pray for this nation. And I want to tell everybody, folks, get in on this. Get in on this. And fasting is a way to sort of physically, you know, practically, materially take your worries outside your body and present them to God. And you do it however you want.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Maybe it means just having one cheese denny. Well, I'm more of a stress eater, to be honest. Yeah. God doesn't honor stress eating. Well, first of all, it's physically healthy. Which is too bad. It's physically healthy to like fast a meal, like a dinner. Like it's physically healthy. But it's just a great way to focus and to deny oneself in a particular way.
Starting point is 00:45:53 So you can sign your church up at Ericmetaxis.com slash pray. And I don't want to forget, as of today, when I last check, we have 92 people paid for the cruise, signed up and paid. Suzanne and I are going to be at the Haven level on the cruise. If you want to spend more time with us, some people... It's a bit of an upgrade. Yeah. Some people can do that. That's expensive. But everybody will see you. We're going to be together. You're going to be so sick of me. You have no idea. So it's exciting. But you have to go to Ericmetaxis.com slash cruise for all the information. It's getting more and more exciting. We'll be
Starting point is 00:46:35 updating you. Ericmetaxis.com slash cruise. I think we're done for today. Maybe. Yeah? Bueno. Okay.
