It seems like Biden will focus on a in an attempt to win the midterms instead of the main issue on Americans' minds, which is, of course, the economy. Do you think, Eric, that this will work? I feel that it will not work. I think I have to say, you know, we have never really ever, ever seen a more dramatic choice in American public life and politics. I mean, it's one thing to say, so-and-so is not doing a great job. It's another thing to say that they have overseen disaster upon disaster, upon scandal, upon I mean, it's unbelievable.

The economy is just one thing. The economy is like a big thing. But the southern border is a nightmare. Our dealings internationally are a nightmare. everywhere you look, it strikes me that the choice is very, very clear. And I think that the left are so desperate. I mean, they've shown this over and over again, the level of desperation. They will just do and say anything. So this is a Hail Mary for them, that they're going to try to frighten women into thinking that your lives are going to be ruined by people from the handmaid's tail if you don't vote Democratic. I think it will fail. I'm pretty sure it will fail. So that's my answer. Okay, great. Well, this next one actually ties in with your book, Letter to the American Church. What is the best way of balancing Christianity and politics?

Well, I have to say, I don't even believe in the idea of balancing Christianity and politics. It's kind of like saying, how do I balance love and faith? Or how do I balance justice and love? I mean, the idea that we've all bought into this false paramed. This idea that we have to be very, very careful with our faith, not to be political. Tell me why. Who arbitrarily decided that politics on any level is at odds with our faith? If I believe in the sanctity of human life and slavery is on the ballot, I better get super

political. It's just a word politics. but it's the way you're able to effect change and God looks to his people to live out their faith in every single sphere, whether it's politics or any other sphere. So this craziness that Christians are all worried about maybe I'm being too political. What does that mean? I mean, in everything we do, we're to do it unto God. But if I know that there are people that don't represent my values or that don't

represent biblical values or that their vision for America is antithetical to the founder's vision of America, I am duty bound to do everything I can. Now, if somebody's foolish enough to quote unquote make an idol of politics, guess what? We're not supposed to make an idol of anything, not of your spouse, of your family, of your children. So every good thing can be turned into a bad thing. But the fact that we keep talking about politics, like it's this dirty word, politics is what enabled Wolverforce and the UK to end the slave trade. So was that too political? I honestly think people are just way over worried about this, that they've completely sucked in this nonsense narrative designed to silence the church, folks. That's designed to silence the church.

I don't think it's easy to be too political. I really think you'd have to go half crazy to be too political. We're trying to live out our faith in every realm. And politics right now is one of the main ways that God, I believe, would have us live out our faith. So I think people have really bought into that. And it's criminal. Listen, I got to say this. Yesterday I saw a picture of T.D. Jakes, Pastor T.D. Jakes with Beto O'Rourke.

I thought to myself, how come people aren't all over that? No one should ever attend his church after that. Beto O'Rourke is one of the most pro-abortion politicians. He's an unqualified madman. The idea that he would be running for the governorship of Texas is crazy. T.D. Jakes, a prominent pastor, has propped him up, did a photo up with him. I just got to tell you, we need to be really clear about how our politics. We need to be consonant with our faith.

So anyway, that's my long answer. Go ahead. Yeah. Well, Nancy Pelosi says she's a good Catholic and she uses her politics in her faith. So why not us, right? Yeah. Can you imagine? Don't even get into that.

There are such hypocrites. It's really, it's depressing. It's depressing. Go ahead. Okay. What's your favorite book at the moment? Reading anything interesting? Actually, yes.

I'm reading David Berlinski, who's my guest at Socrates and City. next week here in New York City, soctonetiancity.com. He's written a bunch of books. And I picked up one that he wrote about 20 years ago. It's called Newton's Gift. It is like everything he seems to write. I mean, there are parts of it that are difficult, they're hard for me to follow. But much of it is just brilliant and hilarious. And so I'm reading I'm reading Burlinski. He wrote a book called the devil's delusion, which is probably more accessible to people or more, they'd be more interested in it. But Berlinski, there's nobody like him. He's amazing. That's great. Okay, now, as a late night TV host, what do you think your strength will be?

If I do a late night show, like, because we filmed the four pilots and we're trying to sell that out there. Well, I think it's a combination of things. In other words, the whole idea is that a late night host, and this is, you know, for good or for ill, I'm a generalist, and I'm interested in so many different kinds of subjects, and also in comedy and stuff. So I think part of being able to go in many different directions is, or at least that's, I see that as one of God's major gifts to me in my personality, which doesn't work well in many things. But I think in being a late night host, being able to go in many different directions on any given night or over the course of a week or so is a strength. So I just think that I also think it'll be a ton of fun.

I know this is going to happen, so I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, yeah. And I also think it's much needed in these days to have a show that's like the old Carson show, where you can fall asleep watching it if you want with a few laughs. Okay. Here's your next question. thoughts on Ron DeSantis. I have nothing bad to say about that, dude.

He is the best. He's as good as it gets. I believe Trump is going to run maybe with DeSantis as his vice presidential candidate and win, but I would hope that DeSantis would get two terms after that. I just think he's a hero. And most politicians, I've said this many times, they're either coward, or they're overly calculating. We need politicians like Ron DeSantis and Lauren Bobert and Marjorie Taylor Green

and Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz. There's only a handful of those guys out there. DeSantis is in that group. Kerry Lake, Mastriano. We need folks like that. Yep. Okay, final question. When are the next Socrates in the city events?

We touched on this a little. Well, I'm pretty sure we're going to have one December 6th with Oz Guinness. That's not settled yet. But I'm excited about the possibility of that. I know we'll have them probably once a month into the new year. And I want you to make sure, I want to make sure you have time to elaborate on that. It's very important. The chief difference between that generation of evangelists, you mentioned Catherine and the current crop of ministry has to do with a sense of mission. Catherine knew why God had gifted her and what she was supposed to do. You look in Luke 4 when Jesus opened the book of Isaiah and read from it, the spirit of the Lord is on me because that's what we don't have today. We don't know why the Holy Spirit is on.

What we do know is we need to increase our YouTube subscriber list. We need to make some money. We need to make sure that we stay famous. And instead, when Billy Graham ministered, he was crossing America with the warning that communism was coming. And he warned the nation that freedom was in a state of threat. And that turning to God, He blamed America for turning its back on God.

And so when you want the gifts of the spirit, you have to understand the meaning behind why you want those gifts. You want to be known as an individual that has gifts? That's crazy. What you want is to read the whole verse. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they're mighty through God to the tearing down a stronghold. One day I read a verse and it said,

the anointing breaks the yoke. And when I read that, it hit me that every generation has two imperatives. One is the yoke. In other words, what is the current method of enslaving humanity when you live? What in 2022 is the devil's best tool to enslave the human race? If it means wandering into the political arena, so be it, but we have to discern it. So there are two imperatives in every generation. One is the yoke of slavery that's on that generation. And two, God's anointing to break that yoke. That's what Wilberforce felt, as you know about slavery. That's what Catherine Kuhlman felt about illness. That's what Billy Graham felt about America turning its back. What we have today are preachers without a mission.

They have a gift that's an end in itself. They have celebrity and the passion to sustain and perpetuate celebrity. I believe that celebrity is a line of credit to be exhausted in the act of telling the truth. That's what it's for. Jesus deliberately tested his popularity by telling the truth. And he depended on God to restore. his influence. That's what we need today. Too many preachers have handlers, entourages. They have this air about them that they are oblivious to the fact that America is about to be destroyed

and judged for her sin. So we want the lame to walk, the blind to see, and we want cancers to fall off, and we want to be known for supernatural gifts. And God looks at it and says every one of those, have a meaning and a purpose. The Spirit of the Lord's upon me because he anointed me to set the captive free. That's why these two imperatives are so important. Every generation has a yoke and every generation has an anointing. And we have to discover how God wants to work through us to save America. Well, I just a couple days ago, I was horrified.

I know I mentioned this to somebody else recently on this program, I think, but I was utterly horrified to see T.D. Jakes standing with Beto O'Rourke. Beto O'Rourke on any level is an unqualified goober. This has nothing to do with his stance on abortion. He's just an unqualified goober. I mean, it's just crazy that he somehow thinks that he could be, plausibly be the governor of the great state of Texas. But the idea is that he is also incredibly radically against biblical values, very pro-abortion,

on and on and on and on. Well, the idea that you would have a pastor, T.D. Jakes standing with him, giving him support, giving him an opportunity. It was bad enough when Rick Warren did this with Barack Obama back when. He said, oh, well, I'll interview McCain and all interview Obama. I mean, it's just a crazy thing because you're trying to give this semblance of neutrality at a time when doing that is nothing but foolishness. We have to be honest, folks, that if you're dealing with this level of radicalism, we're not dealing with the Democratic Party of Tip O'Neill or whoever. We're dealing now with people that are pushing levels.

of radical madness on our children, on unsuspecting people in America that they don't know where to turn. And we have to take a stand. And people say, I don't want to be political. Well, TDJakes had no problem being political in the wrong direction.

And that's kind of what I see over and over and over again is that you find when it's kind of hip, when it's kind of standing with the hip guy, you know, the skateboarding goober, then it's okay. but to stand with Greg Abbott or Dan Patrick or Ken Paxton, I guess, you know, T.D. Jakes thinks that would be political. And I'm thinking we have to be clear, ladies and gentlemen,

there are lives depending on what we say and do. And God's going to judge us for that. I mean, the children that are going to be aborted, the women's lives that are going to be ruined by the lie of abortion, that this can help you. And we have figures in the ministry standing on that side of things. And as you mentioned, we had one of the greatest evangelists who ever lived, Billy Graham, speaking clearly against communism, against godless communism.

And nobody thinks, well, he was too political. I mean, no, he understood that there's a threat to everything. If you care about human beings, it's like saying, like, I don't want to take a position on starvation. there's people starving in the street. That's not my business. I just want to preach the gospel. If people are going to suffer because of policies, because of politicians, how do you not speak against that? It's just, it's just crazy. So I just had to mention that because, I mean, it really is a grievous thing when a pastor like that would not only be wrong, but be wrong

so boldly that he will deceive innumerable people in the state of Texas to vote for somebody who, whose policies are wicked. I pray for the soul of these lost people, but their policies are wicked. And if you don't stand against that, God holds you as culpable. So we're living in just really bizarre times. And that's one of the reasons I say people have to wake up and stop pretending that it's 1984. Yep. And I think that one of the things that you have said so effectively is this association with darkness, which the Bible talks about so clearly. And the fact that a leader, you know, the verse for what you mentioned about Jakes is in Proverbs. It says that when a righteous man falters before the wicked, they're like a poisoned well. And that analogy, that picture of a

leader who's not even thinking to himself, who am I distilled? destroying by associating with this. And it says, that verse says a poison well. That means someone's dying of thirst. They don't know that that well is poison. And what they're looking for to grant them life is actually going to impart death. And God will hold you accountable. That is a devastating failure right there, my brother.

It is, it really is horrifying. It's absolutely horrifying. It's just chilling to me that somebody like that would stand with someone who is just radically, aggressively, pro-abortion and really against biblical values on every level. Not to say preposterously unqualified. That's another story, but out of his depth in the way that Gavin Newsom is out of his depth. we just got a minute left, Mario. What can we end on? Final thoughts? I think what we can end on is that people need to feel that they have permission to have the thoughts they've been afraid to think that we address today

that you need to be verified. You need to be confirmed and sense. You know what, Mario, and Eric, I felt these things, but I was afraid to say them. And that's what we want to help you to. feel free now to start having this conversation with the body of Christ, that we can't be this way. This is not God.

And that we aren't crazy or extreme or imbalance. We have heard from God. Well, again, I want to thank you for being my guest. And I want to say, folks, I mean, it's literally why I wrote the book letter to the American Church, because I know there are many good people that can be persuaded. They're in the middle. They're confused. They're trying to read the tea leaves.

and they need bucking up. They need encouragement. They need somebody to explain to them, which I try in the book, the theology behind being political and speaking out. It's like either this is God or it's not. And we're just not hearing it. It's why I wrote the book.
