Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, welcome to the Eric Mattaxas show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy p.m.investments.com. That's legacy p.m.investments.com. Welcome to the Eric Mataxis show. They say it's a thin line between love and hate, but we're working every day to thicken that line, or at least to make it a double or triple line. But now here's your line jumping host, Eric Mattaxas.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Welcome back, folks. I continue my conversation with my friend David Venom. David, we're talking about the world turned upside down. In other words that, you know, look, I can put a positive spin on it. At Romans 828, all things work together for good for those that love the Lord who called according to purposes. So all the wickedness that is happening is being used by God to force people to choose. Do I really believe what I claim to believe?
Starting point is 00:01:06 Am I going to live it out? because right now things are so insane. If I don't step up, if I don't speak out against the madness, I am complicit with it. And I say this over and over, folks, if you are not speaking out, if you are not doing something, if you're not living out your faith boldly, you need to know you are helping the evil to happen. You need to understand that, folks. You need to understand. There's no fence sitting anymore.
Starting point is 00:01:30 The devil owns the fence. If you're sitting on the fence, the devil is thrilled with you, if that's the kind of faith that you have. So we're at a point right now where the most basic things are being mocked. You talked about your dad being mocked for holding up for carrying a Bible. Now, what does that say about these immature drag queens? I mean, these are broken, sad, messed up people. They're very messed up. They're threatened.
Starting point is 00:01:58 They're hurt. They're wounded. And somebody holding a Bible is a threat to them. But what I wanted to get back to is the security guard going along. with this escorting your father out. What does that say? And if there was that security guard, if he had any guts or any brains, he would say, well, I can't do that. I won't do that. But he did it. That's what's amazing to me. Yeah. Everybody has to step up. I mean, you know, I'm just sitting here thinking about this verse in Isaiah chapter 59,
Starting point is 00:02:29 verse 14 and 15. Check out what the Lord says. This is exactly where we are in this country today. This is exactly pinpoint. I mean, this is thousands of years ago. Listen to what he says. Justice is turned back. Righteousness stands far away. For truth has stumbled in the public squares and uprightness cannot enter. Truth is lacking.
Starting point is 00:02:52 And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. And that's exactly when we were talking about my dad being escorted out of that drag queen story show, you know, that drag queen hour. he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Why? Because truth is being trampled in the streets. And it requires all of us, especially men, in positions of influence, all of us to speak. What's the quote from, I know you wrote it in your book, Martin Neemoler's quote, that first they came for the Jews, I wasn't a Jew, right?
Starting point is 00:03:28 Then they came for the Catholic. Well, that's, I mean, it's incredibly. Actually, it's in my new book, Religinalist Christianity. I read a whole chapter on it. it's a spirit, right? In other words, if you think Niemaller said, I mean, he lived it and then he wrote about it, you know, after the, after the end of the war,
Starting point is 00:03:46 he realized that when the evil powers came to persecute a certain group, he said, you know what, I don't need to get involved. I'm not part of that group. So let them attack whatever it was, the communist or whatever. Let the Nazis go after them. I don't have any argument. I just want to preach
Starting point is 00:04:02 the gospel, right? Let them attack. the communist. So they attack the communist. Then the Nazis come after another group. And it's like, you know what? I'm not part of that group. I just want to preach the gospel. Praise the Lord. I'm just going to keep doing church. And he doesn't step up. And he doesn't step up. And then finally, as they've picked off one group after the other, now they turn to come after the Christians like Martin Niemuller. And he looks around and is like, oh, yeah, there's no one to speak up for me. So this is a spiritual principle. And again, I mean, I write two chapters on this in the book, that the spirit behind cancel culture,
Starting point is 00:04:36 if you do not stand against that from the beginning, in principle, in principle. In other words, when anybody comes after anybody, what is the principle behind what they're doing? You don't need to agree with that group, but you need to say, I'm going to stand with those people because the principle behind this is evil.
Starting point is 00:04:55 And that's where we are right now, where many Christians, I mean, look, I've been in the room with prominent Christian pastors saying that, oh, I won't speak about this or speaking about this because I don't want to get canceled. Yeah. And I shame on you.
Starting point is 00:05:07 That's right. Because they're power. That's right. Because here's what's happening. Their income, their image and their influence depend on people liking them. Those are the three idols that are keeping pastors in America completely silent. Their income, their image, and their influence. That's the idols of the day.
Starting point is 00:05:29 And we all in the name of quote, I don't want to offend. to anybody and hurt the gospel. You know, listen, I'm not even going to give a Bible passage on that. John chapter 10, Jesus rebuking the shepherds for running and letting the wolves scattered and devour the flock. But listen to what Albert Camus says. He's a French existentialist. He's the thinker philosopher poet in the early years, early 20th century.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Listen to what he says. I love this quote. He said this. There always comes a time in history when the person who dares to say that 2 plus 2 equals four is punished with prison or death. And the issue is not what reward or punishment will be the outcome of such reasoning. The issue is whether or not 2 plus 2 equals 4. See, that is the spirit of the day.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Is a man a man or not? Is a woman a woman or not? Are we God or not? Right? It's like the church Christians have to speak. now is a time, which is why at what makes a man.org, we have made it very clear. This is a proclamation on biblical masculinity and you have a chance to sign it. You can sign it.
Starting point is 00:06:45 And then after you sign it, send it to your pastor. Because here's the deal, Eric. If pastors will not sign this, you will know whose income, image, and influence mean more to them than saying 2 plus 2 equals 4. work. We're living at a time right now, and it's a beautiful thing where you're seeing with greater and greater clarity, who actually believes what, because you can talk a good game. A lot of people claim to be a Christian. It's a meaningless statement. You're a Christian. Are you living it out? Are you actually a Christian? So I got to say, you know, when you talk about what you just said, everywhere I go, when I'm talking about
Starting point is 00:07:29 a letter to the American Church or the new book, Religion was Christianity, people say, okay, what should I do? The first thing I say is if you're going to a church that is not standing on this firmly and living it out, that is in the war, if they're not involved, if they're not raising up
Starting point is 00:07:47 a congregation to be bold warriors for truth, you need for the sake of your eternal soul to get out of that church, for the sake of your soul run from that church. So if you have a pastor that says, oh, we would never show letter to the American church in our church, the film, the documentary. I would say, well, why are you going to that church?
Starting point is 00:08:10 If you've got a pastor that would sign, go to what makes a man.org and sign this proclamation on godly masculinity, folks, why are you going to that church? Now, there are many people listening right now that are going to churches like this. And I want to say to you, folks, you have power. You do not need to go to that church. You have the power to leave that church. You can tell the pastor why you're leaving, or you can just leave. Take your friends, take God's money, take the tithe, and give it to somebody who is in the war.
Starting point is 00:08:41 But we're having a moment of clarity right now. So if your pastor will not sign this proclamation on Godly masculinity, you have to, you have to understand that you've been a sucker. You've been going along. And by the way, it's happened to me. But God says it's okay. You can repent. You can repent right now. You can say, yes, I got it wrong.
Starting point is 00:09:05 And from here on end, I'm going to get it right. But if you're going to a church like that, folks, you got to do something about it. You'll have three types of people here, you know, that probably are listening to this. If you're going to church at all. And I want to say this real quick, my dad used to say when I was younger, what's worse than a wolf in sheep's clothing is a wolf in shepherd's clothing. And then I would add, I would add, what's worse than that is sheep in shepherd's clothing. So we have three types of leaders.
Starting point is 00:09:40 You have wolves in shepherd's clothing. And those are the United Methodist congregation that just now voted to bring in the radical transgenderism and homosexuality. Those are wolves in shepherd's clothing, the pope, people. people like that. This wolves in show. We're out of time, David. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I knew this would happen. Never enough time. Folks, go to go to Benham Brothers. Check them out. Go to what makes a man.org and get out of that church if your pastor is not on board. God bless you, David. Bless you, man. Hey, welcome back. We're talking to OW
Starting point is 00:12:30 Root, O.W. are his initials, O.W. Root, who is talking to us about men's fashion, specifically with regard to summer. So, OW, if people go to necktie salvage, is that a website? Where can people find you so they can get more information on this stuff we're talking about? Yeah, so I have a substack that I write on necktie salvage.substack.com. It's called the fitting room. And I break down fits every week. I send out daily style memos, first thing in the morning, 6 a.m. A lot of action. A lot of actionable steps. If you go to necktie salvage.com, you'll see a link to my substack and you'll see a link to my Patreon and the link to the e-books that I put out. I just put out a summer style guide as well with some 15 great fits and guides on where you can buy the stuff. And necktyselvage.com
Starting point is 00:13:15 will give you basically a landing page. We can find a link to all of all of my content where I really get deep into this. Okay, so you have an e-book on what we're talking about right now. So if people go to necktie salvage.com, they can find the e-book. What's the e-book called again? Summer style guide. I do a style guide for each season. I do a spring, a summer, fall, and a winter. Okay. It's a summer style guide.
Starting point is 00:13:37 So let's talk about that. I mean, we've already talked about it a little bit, but what is in the summer style guide that we haven't touched on? Like we talked about with fabrics, we mentioned this a little bit. What fabrics do we wear in the summer? Because, you know, we love our Oxford shirts in the winter. We love them. We love them in the fall.
Starting point is 00:13:54 We even love them in the spring. In some places, we love them in the summer if it's kind of cool. How do you stay cool? and look classic. Madras, seersucker, linen, thin, and this is important. In the summer, we have these bold patterns. Maudras is bold. Searsucker's bold. You've got to ease up in the summer. Because when you have these really bold pieces, you're packing a punch. Don't pack too much of a punch. You've got to keep things simple as well. That's the struggle in summer. You want to be bold. You've got to balance it out with some simple pieces as well, while thinning the fabric up as well,
Starting point is 00:14:28 keeping it breezy, keeping it cool. It's a bit of a tough dance. But if you can execute it and it's totally possible, you look great. It's a bit of tough dance, guys, but you're up to it. Come on. So seriously, though, in the summer, I will wear really bright colors. I mentioned the pants that Brooks Brothers has these pants like yellow. They have kind of like a rose red.
Starting point is 00:14:56 they have or more like a it's more like a what's the word I'm looking for like a coral some of them are very nice because it's kind of simple
Starting point is 00:15:07 it's just a pair of chinos but they have some color and if you wear it with a jacket or whatever it just I guess the bottom line is it makes you look like you've dressed up it makes you look a little bit like you've dressed up
Starting point is 00:15:20 but it's not a big deal you know mostly I'm wearing khaki or tan or or something like that. But it really is, it takes time, I know, to get comfortable with what looks good, like what works for you. We've got to talk about blazers. Now, in the summer, of course, you know, you can wear searsucker, you can wear a linen, whatever, but you don't have to. You don't have to. But you just want something that's closer to a summer wait. So like right now, I'm indoors where it's AC. I'm on TV. So I'm not doing anything that's particularly thin.
Starting point is 00:15:55 but when you're outside in the summer, I don't remember where do you live? I live in the deep north. I live way up in northern Michigan. And so we can wear OCBDs pretty deep into the summer. I mean, it's in the 60s today, low 60s. And so it's a little chilly. But that gets to kind of what we're talking with color. So if you're not representing summer, if you're not embracing summer with thin fabrics when it's 60 degrees outside, do so with color.
Starting point is 00:16:23 wear that bright red chino wear that yellow chino and wear that a lighter shirt wear a purple oxford shirt right now you can't see it on the screen but this is a light green ocbd and this is a classic spring summer ocbd it has that joyous feeling but still with a little thicker weight for a cool summer day and what is ocbd forgive me oxford cloth button down oxford cloth so it's the type of shirt you're talking about obviously oxford cloth buttoned down. What are some places where people can find decent shirts?
Starting point is 00:16:59 There's some companies I don't love, but they have a few options. Any anything? You mentioned this in your style guide that people can find at next-tie salvage.com. So off the rack, a place where you can go and get a classic Oxford shirt
Starting point is 00:17:14 with a nice fit. None of this skinny fit stuff, but a traditional fit, is J-Press. J-Press is a classic American maker. and you can find just so much classic American style there, and they make a great Oxford shirt with a nice collar roll. So you have a nice, substantial, masculine, beautiful collar roll made in the USA,
Starting point is 00:17:34 no, not non-iron, must iron, and a nice full fit. So J. Press. That's off the rack. Custom, I love going custom, because custom can get everything you want. You can really get the right measurements. And a place that does that is proper cloth, also. Speer and McKay or ratio clothing. Those are three places that make just a mean, mean Oxford shirt and custom.
Starting point is 00:17:59 And I know it sounds a little overwhelming to talk about custom stuff, but it's not that overwhelming once you get into it. Well, it's not overwhelming once you figure out what fits, what works for you. I mean, that's the whole thing. If you know your sizes and you can do it, then it makes sense. But not everybody does. Kamakura is a company that makes shirts and ties, really classic stuff. and Roger Stone, who's the only person besides yourself,
Starting point is 00:18:24 who's come on this program and talked about men's clothing, he thinks Kamakura has some great stuff. They really do, actually. I don't know if you're familiar with them. Oh, yeah, Kamakura is great. Kamakura is absolutely fantastic, beautiful role as well. They're based in Japan, and a lot of guys who really know their stuff are really into Kamakura, also a classic company.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Okay, shoes. What about shoes? I'm wearing boat shoes all summer. I am by the water. I'm by Lake Michigan. It feels so right to wear boat shoes. So boat shoes is spary top siders? What are we talking about?
Starting point is 00:18:58 Yep. Yep. Sparry top siders. There's other great companies as well. For people who are not hanging out on the docks all summer, what are some options for them? So another option, and this is something that I always tell the guys who they like the style. They like the preppy style, but they're not by the water, is go for camp mocks. dead. Camp mocks are almost the same as boat shoes. They're almost the same. They just,
Starting point is 00:19:26 instead of having four eyelets total and two on each side, they have two eyelets total, one on each side. And they don't have that same nautical feeling. They don't have the nautical association, but they still basically look the same. It's the same sort of level formality, same sort of format, but they're more land-based, essentially. Camp. I was recently had the privilege of being with our friends, the Trouts, Lisa and Kenny, at the Kentucky Derby, where you get to see people dressed up wearing all kinds of wonderful stuff. And I wore, you know, really bright colored pants and a double-breasted, I believe it's Brooks Brothers searsucker jacket, not the whole suit, just the jacket. And I bumped into a friend who was wearing a strawboater hat.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And I thought that is next level. My friend, J.C. from Grand Rapids, was wearing a strawboater hat. I don't think I could pull that off. Like, I just don't, I'm not interested in pulling off a straw boat or hat. But do you ever, do you ever wear hats in the summer? I do not. I think it's, if you have the strength to do it, and you're doing it well, and you've got, you know, you've got the vibe and you've got the tube.
Starting point is 00:20:34 It takes a lot of strength, guys. Yeah. I mean, it does. I mean, it does. I mean, it does. It takes a certain attitude to do it. I don't do it. I just don't do it.
Starting point is 00:20:44 It's one of those things where it's just hard. to do today. It just is. Well, no, it is because it can, it can look pretentious. And that's the whole thing, is that if you're at the Kentucky Derby, you can pull it off because everybody there is kind of like wearing a crazy costume. The women, of course, are wearing insane, gorgeous hats. It's derricker if you're at the Kentucky Derby. But it's just an interesting thing that some people can kind of pull it off. And some people can't. And I, I can't. I want to be very clear. I can't. Well, what else should we cover? I'm trying to think in the summer.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Have we talked about cotton sweaters? Have we talked about sweatshirts? Have we talked about anything like that? Cotton sweaters is a good example of a very casual but classic sort of summer. A cotton cable knit. Cotton cable net is a classic preppy style staple in the summer. Imagine a red or Kelly green or bright blue cotton cable net with a, and this is a chilly sort of summer night, white OCDD,
Starting point is 00:21:47 Kakichinos, brown boat shoes. Yeah. It's perfect right there. Well, I mean, it's funny because I know we're basically at a time, but at Socrates in the city, we've kind of created some merchandise. And I was very, you can imagine, very picky.
Starting point is 00:22:01 We've only got some stuff at that, but we have these sweatshirts that are so gorgeous. It's like this, you know, this kind of like old school college look. It just says Socrates, very high quality. But I thought that's a sweatshirt that I would, that I would wear.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Like, there's just something about it. It's like, you know, you could wear it almost with anything. And it looks finished. It doesn't look sloppy. It looks, it looks finished. It doesn't look like, you know, you've just finished doing a workout. But, you know, it's so fascinating. Look, the main reason I wanted to have you on is to have people go to necktie salvage.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Folks, there's so much stuff. We're just touching. We're just touching upon this. Go to necktie salvage.com. Check it out. It's a lifelong thing. We all have to wear clothes, don't we? Yes, we do.
Starting point is 00:22:49 So we all have to take some interest in it, and it can be fun. OW Root, just always a joy to speak with you. Thanks for being my guest. Wonderful being here. Call 800, 2468, 751. Hey folks, do you know what June 14th is? This, if you've read my book, if you can keep it, it's one of my favorite books ever wrote about America. In that book, if you can keep it, I talk about something that happened to me when I was nine years old. I learned about Flag Day.
Starting point is 00:25:38 June 14th is Flag Day. And it's one of the most sacred memories of my childhood. It was the beginning of learning to love my country. And every year on Flag Day, I make a big deal, as big of a deal as I can, about the fact that it's flag date, it's June 14th. It also happens to be Donald Trump's birthday. It wasn't always Donald Trump's birthday. It wasn't Donald Trump's birthday until the day he was born.
Starting point is 00:26:05 Before that, it was just Flag Day. But now it's Donald Trump's birthday and Flag Day. And I thought we've got to do something to celebrate Flag Day. You have to do something to celebrate Flag Day. And I found out that there is a film. called The Relentless Patriot, which is coming out. It's all about the American flag. And I wanted to get the folks on who are behind it.
Starting point is 00:26:30 So I have the subject of it is Scott Lobato. He paints flags. He's been painting flags for a million years. It's amazing American flags. But the maker of the film is Josh Messielo. Josh, welcome to the program. Oh, thank you so much for having us, Eric. We appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Listen, this is exciting. Tell us about this film and how you, you're the man behind Global Ascension Studios and you want to make patriotic films, you want to make non-awoke films. So we're all in right there. So what was the idea, or where did you get the idea, to make a film about Scott Labato who has relentlessly painted the American flag over and over his career? Well, I've been in Los Angeles, California for 28 years, and I've been seeing the shift happen to where everything was going. going political correct and woke and just movies were changing in front of our own eyes. And I've seen Scott Labato posting. He's been an activist for 30 years. He's been fighting for our rights, getting arrested, going to City Hall and doing demonstrations, you know, not only
Starting point is 00:27:35 for the American flag, but fighting for our rights, our civil liberties, whether it's, you know, them trying to put migrants into schools and taking kids out of schools, you know, and him having and thousands of people blocking the schools or them trying to get rid of pizza ovens and him protesting pizza ovens throwing a dozen pies at the mayor's doorstep. These are the kind of things that we saw Scott doing and having some positive results.
Starting point is 00:28:01 So in our mind, we said, you know, our first film, we started the company right before COVID started. And our first film, we wanted to make a message and make it patriotic. None better than having a gentleman who calls himself the Relentless Patriot. Okay, so the film is
Starting point is 00:28:16 called The Relentless Patriot, and the website is therelentlesspatriot.com. But, folks, the reason I'm telling you about this is that this is my advice, that to celebrate Flag Day, the least you can do is to see this film. There's something so beautiful about Flag Day. We need to have a resurgence of patriotism in America. You know, it's funny because, Josh, you live in L.A. I live in New York. Not two places famous at this point for their patriotism.
Starting point is 00:28:43 but this film is all across the country. And so tell us, tell us about the film. What's the film about exactly? Is it just the story of Scott Labato's life? Talk about that. Sure, sure. So just to give you a little background, Christopher Martini, is the director.
Starting point is 00:28:58 He had been following Scott Labedo for six years, following his activism and documenting it, you know, to show that all the different elements that now we're seeing that's a problem today in society that they addressed through Scott's activism and through his art. On top of that, there were producers in the middle of the country in Arizona, Frank Torture from Torture Films, that saw what they were doing and said, hey, I think you guys got to take a look at these guys.
Starting point is 00:29:26 They're starting to make some noise talking about all the points that you guys stand for as a studio and what you want to do. So the whole movie's an hour and 30 minutes. It goes through Scott's whole drive and rise of being an activist, artist. You know, just most recently, if you guys haven't seen the De Niro went out crying in front of President Trump at the courthouse and saying all the things. He said, Scott immediately had a painting portraying President Trump as Muhammad Ali and De Niro knocked out with a crybaby face on the floor that went viral and all the major media outlets picked it up. Those are the kind of things that the movie reflects. That was Scott Labato.
Starting point is 00:30:04 See, I didn't know that. I didn't know that. If people want to find out more about Scott Labato, they've got to watch the relentlessly. Because listen, we need to celebrate patriots like Scott Labato. He's a patriot. And so you've made a film about it called The Relentless Patriot. Obviously, it's coming out on Flag Day, June 14th. Now, can people see it on June 13th?
Starting point is 00:30:26 You were saying that I think if they go to fandango.com, they can see it on the 13th. Absolutely. We have a special screening with Q&A with the director at the end that comes out June 13th. We want people to go to Fandango and buy all. With a movie like ours, Eric, that's very controversial. You know, they're looking for reasons, the powers that be to have us get out of the box office as quick as possible. So if we can have all the Patriots out there going buy tickets for June 13th, and then all the way through the Flag Day weekend, Father's Day, Buy your dad, you know, a gift and, you know, take them to see the movie.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Well, look, people are always looking for fun ideas. And this is why I'm saying this strongly, folks. You should do this. You should do this. On June 13th, on the eve of Flag Day, you should see this film. If you can do it, tell people, you can buy tickets for your friends and family at Fandango. But I really think, I mean, one of the things that's become a, you know, a crusade for me, Josh, is telling people about Flag Day. I mentioned I wrote about it in my book, If You Can Keep It, because it is one of the most sacred memories of my childhood.
Starting point is 00:31:34 I will never forget. I never heard of Flag Day. until fifth grade, and I write about this in the book, when my teacher, Mrs. Saul in fifth grade, she said, it's Flag Day, we're going to go out to the flagpole, and my trumpet teacher, Mr. Piccarello pulled his cornet, silver cornet out. He played taps. We raised the flag. It was a sacred moment, and I want people to experience this in their lives. We'll be right back. We're talking to the maker of this new film, The Relentless Patriot. And she won't have heard Mike Lundell and My Pillo no longer have the support of their box stores or shopping channels the way they used to.
Starting point is 00:32:18 Yes, it's because of cancel culture. But as a result, they get to pass the savings on to you directly by having a $25 extravaganza. When Mike started My Pillar, it was just a one product company. With the help of his dedicated employees, they now have hundreds of products, some you may not even know about. To get the word out, I want to invite my listeners to check out their $25 extravaganza. Two-pack multi-use, MyPillows, just $25. MyPillow Sandals, $25. There's six-pack towels, just $25.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Brand-new, four-pack dish towels. You guessed it, just $25. For the first time ever, the premium MyPillows with all new Giza fabric, just $25. Orders over $75 will receive free shipping to. The amazing offer will not last long. Go to MyPillow.com. Use promo code Eric or call 800-9783057. That's promo code Eric.
Starting point is 00:33:06 800-97783057-3057 promo code Eric or go to mypillow.com and use promo code Eric. Folks, guess what? I have been talking to the maker of the film, The Relentless Patriot. It's about Scott Labato who paints the American flag, who's a patriot, he's an activist. I'm telling everybody they need to see the film to celebrate Flag Day. That's June 14th. You can see it on June 13th. go to fandango.com.
Starting point is 00:33:44 You got to do this, folks. You got to jump in, join the fun. But guess what? I actually got Scott Labato to be on the program. Scott, welcome. How are you today? Sorry, I'm in my makeshift studio here. It's crunch time.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Don't let it happen again. We are so happy to have you in your makeshift studio. You've been doing this for a long time. What got you started? Where did you grow up and what got you started, loving America? I come from this little place called Staten Island. And for those of you who don't know what Staten Island is, it is one of the five boroughs of the biggest liberal city in America, one of them. But Staten Island is separate than the rest of the city.
Starting point is 00:34:27 We are that little town in West Virginia, in Middle America, because it is loaded with working class patriots, cops, firemen. 9-11, we lost more people, Staten Island lost more people than any other county because it's full with firemen. and cops, you know, carpenters, teachers, EMTs, and veterans, military personnel. And it's always been a patriotic community. And then I want to find myself in a big, wonderful world of art in Manhattan, where they say, you know, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. And this was back in the early 90s. And I saw, my friend, I saw this just disgusting attitude towards America, towards our flag.
Starting point is 00:35:11 And that's coming from the creative. community. Us creatives, we get to abuse the First Amendment more than anybody else because of the right that we have to express ourselves as artists. And to see 99% you know back in the 90s of all of these creative people biting the hand that feeds them, it totally flipped my whole life around. And at that point, I said, I don't want to be any part of this community. This hypocritical, follow my elitist isms or you would not be succeed as an artist. And I just flipped it. I got punched in the face by this calling to take my gift and promote the greatness of America
Starting point is 00:35:52 through an unusual suspect, which was art to paint the flag everywhere, big on buildings, on cars, on canvases, and just bring, you know, a different perspective on it to a visual stimulation, I guess I would say. And it was like pulling teeth for a long time. But I stuck with it. And here we are, 30-something years later. And I'm still at it and getting people to embrace patriotism in America. We kind of have weirdly similar stories.
Starting point is 00:36:22 I grew up in Queens. And I was shocked. For me, it was when I went to college, went to Yale University. For the first time, I encountered this anti-Americanism. I wanted to be a writer. Came back to New York. The literary world, the art world, is hostile to patriotism, hostile to faith in God.
Starting point is 00:36:42 And only by the grace of God was I delivered from that so that you and I are on the same page right now. And it's a beautiful, beautiful thing. I mean, look, you've been doing this for a long time. Where can people find your work if they want to find you personally, Scott Labedo? My website, Scott Labedo.com. You can see all my artwork, you know, and stuff. But, you know, I'm on Instagram every day, ranting, and I got a big following on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:37:08 I rant every day. you know, it's not just the creation of these beautiful flags and trying to, you know, get people to be patriotic again. It's the activism, which is also a big part of this movie for 30 years. I've been using my art and my voice to wake people up and speak for people who can't, you know, scream, whether it's the Pledge of Allegiance wasn't done in the school or, you know, the mayor wants to shut down pizzerias for some ridiculous regulations because it's killing two-headed squirrels, whatever. So it's a combination of this pro-American activism and art. And back to what you just explained about yourself,
Starting point is 00:37:46 and I love that about you. I did not know that, is that this movie is not just about me. Yeah, it's my story, but it is a call to other creative conservatives who are in the closet all these years. Like the director of the movie, Chris Martini, he came out a couple of years ago.
Starting point is 00:38:03 He said, I'm making this movie. I want to get into bring American values and conservative artists, you know, a spotlight. Global Ascension Studio, you're speaking to Josh, Machielo. Same thing. They made that chance. They said, we're out of the closet. We need to make this change.
Starting point is 00:38:19 I don't want the art community and the theater community to be just conservative. No, I just want a fair. I like balance. I like balance. I think that the art community, the theater, the movie industry should give us. You're the most open-minded, as you say, the art community. the open-minded, the most tolerant. So give us, be tolerant
Starting point is 00:38:40 towards someone else's ideology. Conservative family value ideology. There are millions of creative people. And finally, this film is going to help them also come out of the closet. Well, it's a beautiful thing. I want to tell people again, in case you're just tuning in, folks,
Starting point is 00:38:56 you got to celebrate Flag Day. I write about it in my book, if you can keep it. Flag Day is a sacred day. Now it turns out it's also Donald Trump's birthday. You got to celebrate. Flag Day and how do you celebrate it? Well, my advice to you at this point, apart from putting a flag out on Flag Day, is go see this film. It comes out June 13th. That's the day before
Starting point is 00:39:19 Flag Day. You can go to fandango.com and we hope that it will have a long run. I'm really excited, Scott, that this film got made. And I got to say, Josh, thank you for making the film because we really need to celebrate our love of country and celebrate those who are brave like you, Scott, being an activist and saying, I'm not going to put up with this. This is not right. I'm going to promote my country, my love of country. If it weren't for Staten Island, New York would be in really big trouble. So thank you. And are you in Staten Island right now? Yes. All right. We got to get you in the studio at some point since we're right here in Manhattan. But I was hoping we could meet you so at least we met you this way.
Starting point is 00:40:06 But folks, you've got to go to the Relentless Patriot.com. Now, listen, this is an assignment. Flag Day is coming up. You got to celebrate Flag Day. Folks, don't miss it. It's a fun thing to do with your kids to celebrate Flag Day. Every year we... It's also Father's Day.
Starting point is 00:40:23 It's also Father's Day weekend. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Your cops, your firemen, you know, it's everybody's in it. It's about police officers and firemen and military and veterans. And if I could just throw this in, my friend, it's important that people see it on the 13th because we know how the elites are in this business. They want to squash this film because it is going to change policy.
Starting point is 00:40:45 It is going to help people get to this point of getting America back. So just please, people, you got to. It's not for me. You heard this, folks. You heard this. Come on. We're getting serious. June 13th.
Starting point is 00:40:57 You got to see it on June 13th. Go to fandango.com. The film is the relentless patriot. Scott, Josh, God bless you and God bless America. God bless you too, Eric. Thank you. Thank you, Eric. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I got to mention, Chris, I'm just reading this. There's something called The Relentless Patriot in a documentary film chronicling the 30-year journey of Scott Labado as a voice for American patriotism and activism through his art. It says the film promises to showcase Labato's story. See, now that's not true.
Starting point is 00:41:43 The film doesn't promise to showcase his story. It actually showcases his story. Highlighting his dedication to promoting American values, celebrating the flag, old glory, schedule for release June 14th. Guess what that is? Yeah, flag day. It's two things.
Starting point is 00:41:59 It's flag day. Oh, yes. And it's the birthday of President Donald Trump. Wow. Anyway, the Relentless Patriot is a film coming out. I wanted to mention that. And we're going to be, yeah, we're going to have Scott.
Starting point is 00:42:13 Lebedo on this program. As somebody who likes funny things, some of his, some of his art is patriotic, but some of it's kind of like hilarious too. You know, he's got some. Like our crumb level? Yeah, yeah. It's pretty great. Like keep your blank together.
Starting point is 00:42:26 Okay. I also want to mention Americans for Prosperity. They're the guys who put the guys and gals, I should say, who put together the Bidonomics.com website. They are launching a national tour, I guess is the headline news. They're launching a national tour this summer to expose. the weak Biden economy and to push conservative solutions to get our economy back on track. It's called Prosperity is Possible.
Starting point is 00:42:52 The tour will have buses in vans criss-crossing entry over the summer to educate and inform Americans worried about the economy, which is pretty much everyone except Bill Gates. And you can find out more at prosperity is possible. To find out if they're coming to your area, go to prosperity is possible. Or prosperity is possible. The other sites that they have that's all about. Border Security is SecureBorderSecureAmerica.com. SecureBorder. SecureAmerica.com. Secureborder. Secureamerica.com.
Starting point is 00:43:23 Secureborder, secure America.com. And finally, our friends at the Herzog Foundation, folks, I say, people always ask me, Eric, what can I do? What can I do? And I say just a, I mention a litany of things that you can do if you care about this country. If you're going to a church that's not in the war against evil, if you're going to a church that's just plain church, for the love of God, for the sake of your eternal soul, get out of that church. You can go to mychurchfinder.org.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I beg you to go to mychurchfinder.org. Find out if your church is there and get your church to sign up at my churchfinder. org. People ask me, what can I do? You can do that, my churchfinder.org. You can also homeschool your kids or put your kids in a Christ-centered K-12 school system or school. And if you want to do that, that's why I'm bringing up our friends at the Herzog Foundation,
Starting point is 00:44:20 they have an almost infinite raft of resources. Lots of resources. Hurtzog Foundation.com. Every time we talk to the Sorboes, they're saying you've got to do this. And Hurtsog Foundation.com tells you how to do it. Because people say, I don't know how to do it. Trust me, folks. If you have any inkling to do it, you can do it. Go to Herzog Foundation.com.
Starting point is 00:44:47 It's very important. There are a lot of resources out there. It's not just, you know, because we homeschool right now and our three kids. And it's sort of like co-schooling, you know. There are groups out there that you connect with. There's an arts program near us that our kids are doing next year. It's like 300 kids that are there, you know, twice a week doing art stuff. Like, it's not a solitary thing.
Starting point is 00:45:08 No. And by the way, anytime says, well, I want my kids to be socialized. Well, then why don't you send them to, like, maximum security prison will they'll get very socialized. It's so stupid. It is such garbage. Your kids will be more socialized if they are homeschooled than if they go to some horrible, woke public school. And don't forget to go to Eric Mataxis.com because you've got to sign up for the newsletter there. Please do that, folks. There's so much information that we're sending out. We never have time on this program. Go to Eric Mataxis.com. If you're not getting my newsletter, folks, you're missing all these interviews. Trust me, ericmetaxis.com.
