You know, not quite, but you could, you could just feel that it's happening. It makes me want to quote the opening of Chaucer's prologue, one that April, when the charis Sota, the draught of March had pyrsit to the rota. I can't get enough of that, uh, Middle English. So Chris Heimes, I want to talk to you about Greenland and the Panama Canal, but before

we do that, I want to mention that last, was it last week, I forget, everything's a blur. We were at NRB. We did a number of outrageous interviews there, and we're going to be playing them over the next couple of weeks because we, you know, we've kind of got them in the can, as we put it, in the pantry, ready to go. Tim Mahoney, a friend of ours filmmaker, has made a film based on the book by Michael Medved, called The American Miracle. It's amazing.

In the film, they have this figure who plays George Washington. The guy who plays George Washington, I don't know his name, but he played George Washington at Mount Vernon. And when you talk to him, it's like you're talking to George Washington. I've been reading a ton on the Revolution because I'm writing a book about the American Revolution. Buckle your seatbelts for that one. But when I spoke to him and we're going to play that today, you don't want to miss it. It was kind of freaky. I mean, some of it was very funny.

Some of it was amazing because this guy, it's like you're talking to George Washington. So we're going to play that today. Get ready for that. Yeah, his name, the actor's name is Daniel Shippey. That's his name, Daniel Shippey. Well, I really thought that I was talking to George Washington. He was very locked in, you know, the actors, the actor's terminology there is, uh, I've never seen anything like it.

Look, we do this every year, and I say this, why do we do it? Because we know that there's suffering in the world, and we always want to know where or how can I help? I know that we're focusing this month on helping hungry children in El Salvador. Most of us find it hard to believe that they're hungry children, like really hungry, not just sort of like really suffering with malnutrition. What's the focus of food for the poor as people give? And for those of you that are just watching and hearing the name, Food for the Poor for the very first time, this is new to you, but it's not new to the four decades that Food for the Poor has been ministering to the need,

those in need in 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Just, you know, Salem Radio News, SRN has been working with Food for the Poor for the last 20 plus years, helping those same families, working with pastors on the ground. And when you talk about the need, the urgency of why we're here right now, there is one in four children. One and four children. So maybe you're a big family. You've got about four kids of your own.

Maybe you have a few more. Look at one and four of those children and just put them aside and say, and just look at them and think that in El Salvador, that child is chronically malnourished. Now that's chronically malnourished. That's acute malnutrition where children are not getting the food, not getting the nutrients that they need. And unfortunately, with something as simple as a common cold, because they don't have the immune system to build up in their bodies to fight back those things, it could cause death. And the other

three, well, the other three are not far behind. And why you're needed right now is beyond just making sure that these children get nutrition in the schools where it's going to help them get educated and thrive. But it's also going to make sure that those children and their bodies and their future is put back on track. I mean, I have to say, I want to keep speaking the action point. Wow, this will be my 15th year here at Food for the Poor. It's a funny story, but I'll make it quick. I was working for another nonprofit organization, working in ministry. And I used to take this one particular road that passed by our headquarters here in Florida. And I saw this big, bright blue.

building and I saw this sign and of course I saw the ichthous fish on that sign the cross in the sign and I said there's something significant there and then I come to transition from that position and I came to Food for the Poor and I started doing my research one of the thing that struck me was it hit to the core of my Christian values the fact that the foundational scripture here at food for the poor is Matthew 2540 whatever you've done into the least of these you've done into me This is what I've lived since I gave my life to Christ so many years ago, and it only continued in my work. And so I don't work a day of my life because I truly serve the Lord as unto these generous, wonderful listeners like yours and the beneficiaries that they're helping right now. And so, you know, I'm only excited to share with you that my enthusiasm comes from really my heart for Christ to see Christ just move in the lives of these school children.

Now, Paul, what you just shared about food for the poor that their logo is the Icthus fish. You wouldn't know this, but that is deeply important to me in my life,

in my faith journey with Jesus. Growing up in the Greek Orthodox Church, I remember my dad pointing out on the back of a car, I wrote about this in one of my books, my book, Fish Out of Water. He points, this is in the late 70s, on the back of a car, there's an Icthus on the back of a car. And I remember like it was yesterday, where we were, where we were getting off the highway. And he says, you see that? That fish,

that is the ancient Christian symbol for Jesus, for Christians. And he explained to me the Greek words, the acronym Iqthus, Jesus Christos, theyos, imon so Tier, Jesus Christ, the son of God, our Savior. And from that moment, moment, that fish symbol meant so much to me because it's a Greek word. I'm proud as a Greek of that. And then I won't tell the story now, but I've told it before. My conversion in the summer of 1988, the Lord spoke to me in a dream. And he used that fish symbol to completely blow my mind to reveal himself to me. I know if people go to my website, Ericmetaxis.com, there's a video or two where I I talk about that, but I didn't realize that food for the poor had that symbol.

And of course, it's appropriate for food for the poor because when we see the fish, we think of the loaves and the fishes. We think of feeding the 5,000. So I'm glad you share that with me. And you said the headquarters for Food for the Poor, where you live are in South Florida. Yes. Yeah, we're in South Florida. We're headquartered here, but we operate in 15 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

It's interesting. I've had the pleasure of traveling to many of the countries in Haiti and Nicaragua, in South, excuse me, in Honduras and Guatemala. It's amazing when we talk about the work that we do and the pastors and local ministries that we work with. What is striking to me is much like your pastor, those of you who attend a local church and you have your pastor and your community church, they work around the clock. It's not a nine to five job.

It's a working in the community, with the community, among the people. And we see that here in the community. And El Salvador is no different. Our partners there working with these communities seven days a week, working with these farmers. Your gift of $100 is feeding a child in a school system, giving them the proper nutrition to save their lives. Life altering is what it is. But it's also going to make sure that a community thrive. And as you said, Eric, earlier in an earlier segment, that it's going to keep these families in their communities because the thriving,

the communities. And also, it's going to uplift the economy through the farmers and local markets that are going to be propagated because you're helping provide those farmers and the means to be able to grow those crops and provide nutrition for children. Well, right. So this is kind of long-term stuff, folks. So you're not just, you know, throwing money at a problem. You're paying money to fix the problem. And that's part of what is happening.

And he began to just really solicit the help of his family members and began with a feeding program at a church in Kingston, Jamaica, and now it's expanded to 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean where literally millions are fed on an annual basis. You have to partner as good stewards with those who are really doing what the Lord wants them to do.

It's not some corrupt organization using, you know, the needs of people to make money horrible, even to say that that exists, but we know it exists. So that's why we partner with food for the poor. And I just want to ask you, Paul Jacobs, you've been with Food for the Poor for 15 years. Food for the Poor has existed for 43 years. What is the on the ground, you know, when people give to food for the poor, and we're talking about feeding kids in El Salvador, how does that work? In other words, you guys have been in an operation for four decades plus.

How does that work in a place, for example, like El Salvador? That's a great question. So once your gift comes in, your donation, $100, $300, $750, $1,000, $1,000, whatever, you set in your heart to give, then immediately food for the poor resources our partners in El Salvador. Then they fund and help make sure that these farmers are getting material and the resources they need to grow these crops. There are production plants in El Salvador that are taking these raw ingredients, vitamins, nutrition, nutrients, proteins, soy, all of these items that go into this product that's going to literally bring nutrition to these children's bellies, their bodies and their future. And it's going to make sure that these children are getting it on a regular basis. You said something in the last segment about it in a long-term process. It is a long-term progress because we can't

just go in and do a quick fix in a school session. It is a long-term process that we're going to make sure that these children, through our partners on the ground and through the local farmers that are growing these natural, you know, you talk about table to farm-to-table. This is a farm-to-table example in the best best way because your gift is funding and making sure that food for the poor can send the resources to our partners. They can then make sure that these farmers get the resources that they need to grow the food that these children will eventually drink and buy and be able to be healthy. Now, you said you've been with Food for the Poor for 15 years, which is quite a while. You're familiar with the culture of the organization that they put Jesus first, that this is real.

I think that there are many people, you know, that they're jaded about this kind of thing. And that's why I want to say, folks, do not be. There are organizations like Food for the Poor that you can trust them. And that's just so important because otherwise, you know, you could be giving to, there's all kinds of stuff you could be giving to, but you do not know. How big is the bureaucracy? How much of what you're giving is, you know, actually getting to the kids? When we tell you that $100 feeds a kid for a year, you understand how amazing this is.

We're talking about an organization that wants to make it as easy as possible for you to help so that when you give a dollar, you don't have to wonder. There's an efficiency that's there. I'm amazed to hear you, Paul, you know, you say you've been with Food for the Poor for 15 years, but to talk about the founding 43 years ago, what was it? that made Ferdinand, you know, say this is God's calling on my life to feed the hungry. It was the same as your conversion. It was an encounter with God.

He was a very successful businessman. Did not need to stop his life and his family's life and his family who helped prop up food for the poor until it could stand on its own two feet. But it was an encounter with God that he could not shake. He could not ignore. And so many of you are listening to us right now and you're having an encounter with the Lord right now, not Eric, not myself, Paul at Food for the Poor, but God is prompting your heart

because you didn't hear this message. You're not watching this by accident. God has positioned you here. And I'm often reminded in times like this of what Paul, the Apostle, wrote to the Galatians Church, chapter 2, verse 10. He says, all that they asked was that I remember the poor. We remember the poor.

The very thing I was eager to do all along. And so that's what started Ferdinem of Food more than 40 years ago, 43 exactly. and that is why we're asking you right now, because for many of these children, for many of these communities, and these kids that are desperately in need of this nutrition, tomorrow, maybe too late for them.

I mean, I have to say, you know, folks, we're all required to do something, right? And to me, the only question is what? Because I think a lot of times we get confused and there's so many options. That's why, again, we focus on food for the poor because we know that they're reputable. I know that when you give $100 to food for the poor,

they are great stewards of your money. They care. And again, I contrasted with, you know, the federal government over the decades. It's like throwing money into a black hole, which is scandalous. Because you understand folks that, you know, when we give to our government, for example, we think that, you know, this is our money going to do the things that we want it to do. and as we've been seeing, that is not the case. And it's also not the case with many charities.

And, you know, I mentioned at the top of the list, you know, the Clinton Foundation. There are these places that once you look into it, you just see bureaucracy and corruption. It's horrifying, frankly. It's horrifying. We need to be good stewards of God's money. The money you have is God's money. It's not our money. It's God's money.

And what we do with it, we pay our bills. We tithe. We give to organizations. like this to God's glory. So I want to exhort you. Food for the Board comes to us every year because they need our help. Folks, a lot of news to share right now. Okay, real quick. Remember, I was telling everybody to boycott Target because of what they did. You know the whole story. I think it's time to reverse engines. Target, you need to reward people when they do the right thing. Target made a huge decision to blow off their whole DEI thing, which is amazing that on a corporate level, a company that's been sort of progressive would totally change their tune and say, we are no longer going to play the DEI game. That is big. news. They are being boycotted by all kinds of radical Marxists. There's some insane leftist mega church pastor calling for a boycott on Target. I am here to say we should reward them. When somebody totally changes their tune, we need to reward them. So I am today going to buy a TV at Target. Not making that up. I've got to get a TV for my mom. I'm going to do it at Target today. We need to reward them. God bless them for changing what they've done. By the way, I wanted to talk more about, you know, Donald Trump's ultimatum in Israel. It's just amazing.

The evilness of Hamas. I can't talk about it because I get so upset.
