Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, welcome to the Eric Metaxus show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy p.m. Investments.com. That's legacy p.m. Investments.com. Welcome to the Eric Metaxis show. Have you heard that some people have a nose for news? Well, Eric has a nose for everything. That's why this is called The Show About Everything. Now welcome your host who definitely passes the smell test, Eric Montaxon. I think if you listen to this program, you know that Albin said that after he had read my new book, Religinalist Christianity, he wanted to interview me about it. And I thought, you know, that sounds like fun, Albin.
Starting point is 00:00:57 So let's just do it. And son of a gun, here you are, Albin. Welcome back. Oh, great. Thanks, Eric. I'm just getting my last, okay, there you go. I just finished. So you just finished it literally this second. That's a surprise. This very second.
Starting point is 00:01:11 That surprise ending with Niemaller and the VWVW. With the lady truckers. Oh, God. See, people read books to the end. It gets crazy, folks. There's a whole scene with these lady truckers and an orangutan. And I got to tell you, you know, when you write a book, a lot of times you don't, you know where it's going to go. You know, you just, you just kind of follow the muse. And it got, it got very crazy. So I'm glad you read it all the way to the bitter end. Now, in all seriousness,
Starting point is 00:01:42 you wrote an article. Yes. About my book, you wrote, you wrote a review of my book, religionist Christianity. And where did it air? I mean, where did it, where was it published? It's at American Thinker, AmericanThinker.com. It came out on Saturday. And the title is, will the good guys win the ultimate battle between good and evil? And that really is the question. Of course, the ultimate battle belongs to the Lord. But that's what your book is about. It's another, another, because it follows in the footsteps of letter to the American church. Another wake up call to the church. This is it, folks. And I start off with your opening line from the introduction, which says, we are in a war. And you can't make it.
Starting point is 00:02:29 any clearer than that. And you point to the two previous wars that were instrumental in America becoming and staying a free nation. Number one, of course, was a revolutionary war. Number two was the civil war. And now we were at that crossroads again. So I make it very clear that this is a spiritual war. Yes. And I also say that the previous two actual wars, the revolutionary war and the war between the states, the civil war, those were existential crises. In other words, if it had gone differently, America would cease to exist. America would have never come into being if we had, if Washington had not prevailed during the revolution, we would have not remained America in any real sense if we would have lost, if the Civil War would not have gone the way
Starting point is 00:03:25 that it went. And I say that we are now in our third existential crisis. And it is a war, but it's a spiritual war. It's an ideological war. And I obviously get into that in the book. But I guess part of the reason I say that is that I think it was true in the two previous existential crises, just as it's true more than ever right now. The church is central. People who call themselves Christians actually behaving as Christians is at the heart of whether we will prevail right now. And so this book, in some ways, is a little bit of a how-to. Letter of the American Church is making the case for why we need to wake up and get involved immediately, live out our faith that way.
Starting point is 00:04:12 But this book puts more meat on the bones and makes clear how easily religious people can get it wrong, how Christians can get it wrong. sort of separate their faith from their actions. But anyway, if you want to interview, you can ask me questions, however you want to do it. Yeah. Well, I'll tell you, the other big thing that came out of this book for me, because I hear a lot of pastors out there. Pastors, I really love and respect, and they say, we could be living in end times, and you deal with that very, very well. This is why I love about this book, because I've heard pastors, I love and respect, and they're almost saying, listen, guys, we're real Christians. We know that we're
Starting point is 00:04:52 citizens of heaven. So don't worry about what's going to happen. We're going to end up in heaven. So don't worry about it. But they don't have a CTA, a call to action. And there's a commentary today, today in the Washington Times. And by the way, my twin brother has read your book over the weekend. And he wants to get a book review into the Washington Times. They haven't approved it yet. Wait a minute. You have a twin brother? How many twin brothers do you have? Well, I wish I had, I was a triplet because all three of us would be writing about this incredible religious. Would that be three twins? Or?
Starting point is 00:05:32 No, I don't know how that's, yeah. But if you go to the Washington Times, there's a Everett Piper, who I think was on this show a long time ago. Several times, yeah. Yeah. Commentary. It's called This Is Our Time. And he talks about what you talk about toward the end of the book, which is so uplifting. He talks about an Esther moment, right?
Starting point is 00:05:52 a Queen Esther moment and a Haman moment and that part of the Bible, where we were born for such a time as this. Listen, no matter what happens, we still were born for such a time as this, because if we weren't, then God somewhere along the lines made a mistake. Now, will this be a Queen Esther moment where the bad guys get what they deserve and Queen Esther saves Israel, her people, and we get a chance, or are we going to get a chance here to save what is left of America? because it's quickly spiraling down. But Everett Piper dovetails off of that. And of course, Jonathan Kahn wrote the return of the God.
Starting point is 00:06:32 So we see what's behind all this. You know, you show exactly how it's played out in America. But when we get back in the next segment, I really want to talk about what the problem is with the church. It's a little bit of what Vody Bachman talked about, the 11th Commandment, Thou shalt be nice. And that's the problem with today. day's church, but you talk about some sins that you wouldn't call sins, like purity and, and,
Starting point is 00:07:00 I know, I say there are a number of religious idols, and I say that there's nothing wicked than a religious idol. I mean, if you make an idol of pleasure from drugs or sex, where everybody knows, oh, that's bad, but a religious idol is particularly wicked, because it purports to be associated with God, and it's just the opposite. It's an idol. And so the idol, I think the idol of winsomeness, the idol of, there are a number of traps that Bonhofer did not fall into, but that we often fall into and that German Christians fell into. And so in religionless Christianity, I list a number of religious idols. There are many people that have already decided, many Christians, that it's over. We're under judgment. There's nothing I can do. And the moment you say it's over, there's nothing I can do, that's the voice of the devil, because God hasn't said that it's over. God calls us. to fight for what is right and good and true, to love our neighbors. It's not up to us to decide, oh, I'm going to go to the cave and, you know, hang out. And I'm going to practice my private faith in the cave until the Lord returns.
Starting point is 00:08:08 We're supposed to be living at our faith. And I really believe that these things are so bad in order to wake people up, not to make us say it's over. Yeah. And I, if you don't mind, I mentioned a joke in my book that kind of points this out. where somebody says, the doctor says, you're going to die. You know, here's some pills. The guy says, I'm a Christian. I don't want to take those pills.
Starting point is 00:08:28 If it's God's will, I'm going to live. And if it's God's well, I'm going to die. And the doctor says, yeah, well, the truth is, I'm a Christian too. And I believe in predestination. If you take the pills, you're predestined to live. If you don't, you're predestined to die. And that's how it is in this country. If we don't do anything at all, we're predestined to die.
Starting point is 00:08:47 But if we take the pills, if we take the fight, there's a good chance. Those pills are going to work. And that's the point is that it's such a religious excuse, this idea that people make it, and, oh, we're under judgment. And he think, well, wait a minute, that's a cop out that's wrapped in religiosity. It's just a cop out. It's a failure to do what needs doing, but you've wrapped it up with this religious wrapping so that it sounds kind of holy, sounds nice and religious.
Starting point is 00:09:17 And it's religious in the negative sense. It's a failure to do what God is calling you to do. And I'm glad that you pointed out that the end of the book is very hopeful and I hope is inspiring and encouraging. I know people need encouragement, people need inspiration. So we have to understand what's wrong. But I'm not just, it's not like my editor said, well, you put it in a happy ending. I believe what I wrote. I believe that it is vital for us to fight because God wants us to do the right thing.
Starting point is 00:09:48 He wants to save this nation from where it's going. I really, I want to say this to anybody that I wrote this book to be an encouragement, an inspiration, not just to say, hey, things are going poorly. No, not at all, not at all. I really believe it's God's will that we turn things around, but we have to have the biblical basis. We have to be clear that that is God's will. And then we actually have to act.

Starting point is 00:12:24 to a friend of his named Sean Lake. All I know about Sean Lake is that he has an important story to tell and that he's a former professional snowboarder. Sean Lake, welcome. Thanks for having me, Eric. I appreciate it. That's the cookie part of the story. We're going to get real serious real quick here. But you're in California, you really were a professional snowboarder.
Starting point is 00:12:51 I quite literally dropped out of college. after my freshman year with my best buddy, Glenn Doherty, to chase the dream of becoming professional athletes. And you can just imagine horrifying your parents when you tell them you're going to drop out of school, move to Snowbird, Utah, and chase this dream of becoming a professional athlete in the early 90s, mind you,
Starting point is 00:13:11 when there wasn't really a good career trajectory around becoming a pro skier or a pro snowboarder. Well, that's how your story starts. But the reason you're here, It gets real serious. Tell my audience, because, or, you know, tell us the beginning and then we could get into the details. Yeah. So I think a lot of folks have heard of the movie 13 hours and or they know about Hillary Clinton getting in a whole bunch of trouble when she was leading the State Department and the terror attacks in Benghazi, Olivia that happened on 9-11 in 2012.
Starting point is 00:13:49 And my best buddy that I went ski bumming with all those years ago, best friend from high school, a guy named Glenn Doherty. He ended up leaving the ski bum world and joining the U.S. Navy and served 10 years with SEAL Team 3 on the West Coast. So Glenn decided to really challenge himself and become a Navy SEAL. When he got out of the SEAL teams, he started contracting directly for the Central Intelligence Agency, the GRS branch of the CIA.
Starting point is 00:14:17 And he deployed all over the world. And his last deployment was to Tripoli. And it was right after we had reopened diplomatic relations within Libya. You might remember, like, you know, the fall of Gaddafi, it was a very unstable time. And Glenn was one of the first wave of officers, intelligence officers, security personnel to go into the country to work there, obviously being very concerned about the firearms and the missiles and everything that could get into the wrong hands. Glenn was in Tripoli, but the real action ended up happening down in Benghazi, Libya, where there was a coordinated attack. by al-Qaeda going after the U.S. ambassador Stevens, who was visiting Benghazi and he didn't have nearly enough security down there personnel. And the Central Intelligence Agency had an
Starting point is 00:15:06 annex in Benghazi. And the CIA responded to the attacks on the U.S. State Department facility that was just down the road. And while that was happening, they called up to Tripoli to say, hey, guys, we need some help. Glenn was one of the respondents up there who moved mountains to get him and whichever available personnel on an airplane, fly the two hours down to Benghazi to help his brothers out
Starting point is 00:15:37 and save all those American lives. And Glenn laid down his life in the process. So, you know, it's all documented, I guess, in that movie. You can read about it, but, you know, tragically, four Americans were killed. the ambassador, there was an intelligence officer down there doing IT work, and two Navy SEALs, Glenn Doherty and Tyrone Woods, who died on the rooftop of that CIA annex while protecting all those Americans.
Starting point is 00:16:06 That was Glenn. Like, Glenn went to the fight. Glenn was there for his brothers. He was there to help others. He was literally this larger-than-life personality who, you know, stood for helping others. And he was funny, he was charismatic, he was all these things that you want in a best friend.
Starting point is 00:16:27 He held you accountable. He lifted you up. But he also told you when you were screwing up, it was all the things. So when Glenn died, you know, and there's a whole stink around Benghazi that we don't need to get into, but part of it I think we do.
Starting point is 00:16:42 But Glenn's family and I decided to start a foundation to help special operators transition out of active duty to civilian life. Well, that was great. Like starting a 501C3, dishing out scholarships, helping Glenn's brothers make that transition was this amazing feel-good moment.
Starting point is 00:17:00 But Eric, the real one stink that happened that kind of lit a fire under my ass was Glenn was denied his death benefit. So this guy, you know, lays down his life, saving Americans, but he's a contractor for the Central Intelligence Agency. And, you know, I'm the next of kin. So when Glenn died, the CIA showed up at my doorstep, you know, all those officers in the black suits and the black ties and the black SUV, just like out of a movie.
Starting point is 00:17:33 And I was there to manage and be the executive of his estate to manage all of his paperwork. Well, hang on a second. So he was your very close friend, but you said you were the next of kin. I'm not clear on that. Yeah, it was a funny denotation. You know, traditionally you have your brother, your sister, your mother, like this immediate family. Glenn, you know, he's a quirky guy, but one of the things he did was he said, hey, if things go south, I want you to be the one to be in charge, disseminate what happens.
Starting point is 00:18:00 So I was the executor of his estate. I was listed next of kin on his government paperwork. So literally they had to notify me as the immediate before the news broke, before it became national news. I mean, literally, they asked me to tell his mom. And I'm like, yeah, like, they're like, we have cars deployed outside of her home, but, you know, you're the first step in that. I'm like, of course, go tell Barbara. It was a pretty surreal experience because when you plan this with your best buddy who's a Navy SEAL,
Starting point is 00:18:33 who's going to deploy overseas, you don't really think anything bad's going to happen. You don't want to think that way. This is just a formality. Yeah, sure, put me down on your government paperwork. That's fine. Yeah, make me the executive of your estate. I mean, he was the executive of my estate. So like we we traded those duties back and forth, but look, I'm on the civilian side.
Starting point is 00:18:50 So, you know, I was figured I would die in an avalanche snowboarding or something, doing something stupid. Not like that. And so, yeah, I was, you know, in charge of that experience, which, you know, it changed my life because along the way, I very quickly realized that there were some massive injustices happening. Glenn was mandated by the Central Intelligence Agency to have a life insurance policy. You cannot deploy overseas without a life insurance policy. Well, the life insurance policy is dictated under a rather archaic piece of legislation called the DBA or the Defense Base Act. And the Defense Base Act has a very specific clause in it, Eric,
Starting point is 00:19:35 that doesn't pay for a death benefit if the insured is, not married with dependence. Let that sink in. You're talking about military professionals that are mostly divorced, maybe have kids, maybe don't, but if you're not married with children, you are absolutely categorically denied that death benefit. So the CIA was just like, oh, you know, like he had life insurance. We mandated it. It's in their hands. So they passed the buck. And I was so angry about that, not for any other reason. that I wanted his family to get their just gesture from the U.S. government of the sacrifice that Glenn made.
Starting point is 00:20:21 And as, you know, the guy in charge of the executor, you know, being in charge of the execution of Glenn's will, the execution of his estate, like pay his family what they deserve to show a little respect. And when that was denied, I put on my boxing gloves, I guess, and I went after, you know, the Department of Labor and Rutherford Insurance, which was the insurance company in charge of all that. And I sued him in federal court. It was one of the scariest things I've ever done because you're you're literally going after the government. And the CIA, I'm like, I've never done stuff like that before. I had an amazing counsel guy named Michael Mortensen and we got our asses handed to us in
Starting point is 00:21:03 court. We lost. You sued the federal government. I mean, it's extraordinary to me. that somebody, I mean, what do you think should have happened? Because it's an amazing thing to me that the people, look, I have no respect for the CIA. As far as I'm concerned, you know, they've murdered Americans like President Kennedy. But it just seems to me that for the optics, something like this goes down, somebody gives his life for others. At Benghazi, in something like this, fighting against terrorists. you would think that the CIA would not be a big deal to make an exception to give death benefits to him. It's kind of crazy that you have to see.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Yeah, very interesting, right? Like I had to. Then I lost. When I lost the lawsuit, I was granted a meeting with John Brennan. You might remember his name. He was the director of the CIA, you know, during the Obama administration. And very briefly, I think, into the Trump administration. And I got a meeting with him.
Starting point is 00:22:09 I flew to Washington, D.C. I went down to Langley, wherever the CIA office is, and I walked in the door there, and there's lawyers all around us. I'm sitting at a table, like we're this far apart. And I took my best shot. And I said, hey, don't tell me you don't have the money to do the right thing here. And if you don't do the right thing, just think of the optics. When I go to the press and I go to every major newspaper and every major news source
Starting point is 00:22:37 out there and talk to them about how you looked into another American's eyes and denied them that. And it was a really scary moment because I basically threatened John Brennan to blow the whistle on the whole stink around it. And John Frank says, when we come back, we're going to hear what happened. We'll be right back. Hey, this is Eric Mattaxas. Starting point is 00:25:03 That's promo code Eric. 800-9783057-3057 promo code Eric or go to MyPillow.com and use promo code Eric. Welcome back. We're talking to Sean Blake about the story of, um, What happened to his friend, Glenn Dardy, who had been with SEAL Team 3, was killed in Benghazi. Libya, you can see the story in the film 13 hours. Okay, so take us back. You lose, you sue the government to get death benefits for your friend who lays down his life.
Starting point is 00:25:47 And now you have a meeting with John Brennan at that time, head of the CIA. and you basically threaten him, but you're not really threatening him. You're giving him the story of this is the deal. This is what happened. You could do the right thing. So what's his response? So he's a man of very few words. I mean, he didn't speak a lot.
Starting point is 00:26:11 And I'm like sweating bullets and fired up. And I just say, hey, you know, you got the opportunity to do the right thing here. And he says one thing. He says, we will look into it. That's all he says. And to me, that's the most can. Andy asked response that you could give. And I said something back about like, oh, we'll look into it.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Like, that's your answer. And I get a kick under the table. And it's from Glenn's sister Kate. It was just kind of like, shut up. And he gets up. He walks out of the room. And I'm not being rude to him, but I'm also being pretty darn direct about like, look, I'm fired up.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Like you guys didn't play respect here. Not punching him in the face is pretty gracious of you. I mean, this is unbelievable. I mean, that bureaucratic evil to say what we'll look into it, we know what that means. It means we've had the meeting. Thank you very much. Go away. And we're going to do whatever we want to do.
Starting point is 00:27:07 But yeah, anyway. So it's interesting. You're absolutely right. And I left there thinking like, you know, what the hell? I just wasted my time. I just flew all the way across country to have this guy basically say that to me. and the attorney, there was an attorney for K&L Gates who was helping me out pro bono, like I'll give them a lot of respect because they stepped into helping with these legal matters
Starting point is 00:27:30 and they weren't charging me for it. And they just said, hey, you just had a meeting with John Brennan and he said that. That means something. I'm like, does it? They're like, oh, yeah, he never says anything. If he didn't think that he was going to look into this, he wouldn't have said a word. And I'm like, so I'm supposed to be happy right now? And I left it because I, you know, I at that point,
Starting point is 00:27:50 I'd done what I could do. I held myself at bay. I didn't go to the press and make a stink of it. I just, I held off under their counsel. And about 10 months later, I get word that they're more than looking into it. They're doing a comprehensive study on how many Americans fell under this, this category of the Defense Base Act. I said, okay, well, you know, thank you. And then another couple months goes by and I get word.
Starting point is 00:28:20 that John Brennan initiated not only a payment of Glenn's death benefit, payable to his family, but he went back in time for over 28 families to Beirut, found 28 individual 1099 operators who were killed in action, whether it was a part of a terror attack or various circumstances. They were all denied their death benefit, and he retroactively paid it back to Beirut. Yeah, let me just, let me interrupt you. John Brennan didn't reach into his pocket. No. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I'm not making it clear here. He used your money and my money. He used taxpayer money to do the right thing because you effectively threatened him with how it would look, that the CIA would look even worse than it already does in the eyes of most patriotic Americans. Nonetheless, if you hadn't done this, Glenn's family would have not gotten what they deserve and others wouldn't have gotten what they deserved. You did a great thing. It's just, it's amazing.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Is there more to the story? Because I want to talk about Bubbs Naturals. Yeah, well, I'm going to give you a couple of the cliff notes. The end result of this was that not only did they pay it back, but they actually rewrote their in-doc, like some sort of internal memo inside the CIA to forward kind of future proof this situation from happening again. So there's actually now language in the CIA kind of in-doc
Starting point is 00:29:48 whenever you're departing overseas, that should something happen, despite having this insurance, that they will take care of these death benefits in the future. So it was sort of like retroactively taking care of and taking care for Glenn's future brothers that, hey, man, this is going to happen again, but it's not going to happen the way the stink has gone down for, you know, generations.
Starting point is 00:30:10 So a good thing came out of it. And, you know, it sucked that it took that. But yeah, man, like it, you took a tragedy and you take this bad situations and you got a choice. You can roll over and let it happen or you can take your best shot at writing the wrong. I think we got more out of it than I would have expected, both historically and the idea that the next time one of Glenn's brothers goes overseas and has killed in action, I now know that what happened to Glenn won't happen to that individual.
Starting point is 00:30:42 And I take great, you know, not pride, but like I take. great comfort in knowing that that's taken care of now. You should take very great pride and doing the right thing by your friend and by every American. It's beautiful, Sean, what you did. I take back my opinion of former professional snowboarders around the world because of what you've done. Seriously, how wonderful, how wonderful that you were willing to do this. I just want to, now, your friend, Glenn, his nickname was Bubbs.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Yeah, so his call sign in the Navy was Bub. And it was always this great mystery. No one ever knew how he got it. But when you think of a bub, he's like this big personality, larger than life, you know, character. And that was Glenn. So the nickname, the call sign really worked out. And so when Glenn died, you know, a couple years after he died, I went on this big health kick. And my wife had introduced me to the benefits of a really simple protein called collagen. It's unflavored, heat tolerant. I just fell in love with it. And Eric, it changed my life. I mean, you and I got a couple trips around the sun, little aches and pain start to pile up. And we decided to launch a brand. And it was really a social experiment. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Hold on. When we come back, we're going to hear about Bubbs Naturals. Folks, this is good stuff. We'll be right back. Folks, we're talking to Sean Lake, who really, Sean, you've just done something so beautiful, so inspiring to hear what you did, to hear what your buddy, Glenn did for his country, and then what you did for Glenn and your country. And so you were just saying, as we went to the break, that Glenn's nickname was Bub. And you, you said you got on a health kick and you started this thing in his honor called Bub's natural. But I mean, talk about this, because how did you find your way into the health world here? Yeah, I mean, I came from the action sports space. the outdoor space.
Starting point is 00:32:57 I worked with Converse shoes and big shoe brands for a long time. And I had a lot of fun in that marketing world. And along the way, you know, Glenn, when your best buddy's a Navy SEAL, he kicks your butt in all sorts of different fitness events. And he had introduced me to CrossFit and running and, you know, just like a lot of endurance activities. And I got hooked on it. And I got hooked on feeling good and being fit.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Well, we were doing this in our late 30s into our early 40s. and now 10 years later in my early 50s, I want to be able to perform at my absolute best. And my wife had introduced me to collagen, and it absolutely changed my life. It was this heat-tolerant, unflavored protein, and I put in my coffee every morning. And literally, putting this in my coffee every morning
Starting point is 00:33:45 has changed my joint health, my muscle recovery. Like all the women in our lives love it for hair, skin, and nails, and all your connective tissue. but it literally changes your life. And there's piles of medical studies supporting the benefits of what collagen is, which is just a bunch of amino acids that help all of your connective tissue. And you take it every day, just like a multivitamin for your joints, hair, skin, and muscles.
Starting point is 00:34:10 And, you know, I feel like I'm in my 30s. And it's awesome. So when I discovered the product and I started taking it, I felt the benefits. And I was like, oh, my God, I feel amazing. I've got energy. I feel great about everything. The idea to spark the brand was,
Starting point is 00:34:27 hey, this is just the kind of product that Glenn would have taken when he was alive. And I was like, well, what would a brand look like? I was talking to my business partner, T.J. about it. And he was just a buddy. He was just over at the house. And he's like, oh, that's a fast-growing, trending product. What would a brand look like?
Starting point is 00:34:43 And we both said at the exact same time, well, if we ever started a company, we'd have to do something cool for charity. And I already mentioned that I had the Glenn Doherty Memorial Foundation that we had helped start, and that felt great. So I just said, man, I know the charity. It's got to be Glenn's charity.
Starting point is 00:35:01 And Glenn's call sign in the Navy was Bub. So I'm like, we'll name the company Bubb's naturals as a tribute to Glenn and his way of life. This brand will stand for self-improvement. So every product we make will stand for making you better. and we'll give 10% of profits to Glenn's charity and military charity in Glenn's honor. So, you know, here we are six years later. I work with almost every single team in Major League Baseball, taking our college and your Mets and your Yankees,
Starting point is 00:35:34 depending on which side you fall on, Red Sox for a guy from Massachusetts. And, you know, we're donated $300,000 to, Glenn's Foundation and other military charities, charitable causes in Glenn's name. And this little social experiment from six years ago is all about paying it forward. It's Glenn's legacy and the great things that he stood for and sharing it in a product with the world. Well, I didn't know where this was going that you have started this company, Bubbs Naturales, that you give 10% to the charity in Glenn's name.
Starting point is 00:36:18 You said that you feel like, you know, you're in your 30s. I used to feel like I was in my 30s, but that's decades ago. And now I no longer feel like I'm in my 30s. But I understand that it's possible. Well, let me ask you because I run. I lift weights. I need protein. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:36:39 I'm now, I'm asking you, you know, like we're off the air. What do you mean when you talk about this protein? What is it like a protein shake? You can put it in a shake or what I don't understand. Yeah. Do you drink coffee? I do. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:54 It's an unflavored heat tolerant protein sourced from cowhide. It's literally ground up cowhide. It's the throwaway from the tanneries that, you know, you get all your leather goods from. Now it sounds disgusting. Absolutely. Yeah. But it's totally stripped out of all the flavors. It basically is treated with an enzyme that lifts up all those amino acids.
Starting point is 00:37:15 So all the amino acids that I'm talking about are in a way protein. They're in a steak. They're in your creatine. They're in all those products, right? But they're not in the right amount that's going to truly tie in your connective tissue. And when I say connective tissue for you, look, you take one scoop of bubs. You get four grams of glycine. Probably don't know what glycine is.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Glycine, though, is an amino acid. It's the amino acid that produces synovial fluid. Well, synovial fluid lubricates and cushions your joints. So just the aches and pains that you get in different activity gets mitigated because you're taking glycine into your body. And that glycine is then producing synovial fluid. It also is linked to your sleep pattern. So your recovery, the very thing that's going to repair all your muscles from lifting weights, from running, from all those things is tied to that. And it's literally a one ingredient, unflavored protein.
Starting point is 00:38:14 So I throw in my coffee every morning, just like I pop a vitamin C as a multivitamin, and I'm on with my day. So this is not the kind of thing that you would use to get more protein like in a protein shake. This is just something to get your amino acids. Exactly. So I always say, hey, if you're taking away protein or casein or a plant-based protein, whatever your jam is, you throw this on top of it. like they go together very well. They complement each other. But a weight protein is going to be all geared around your muscle health, your muscle recovery,
Starting point is 00:38:47 your muscle growth and build. Collagen is way more on the repair side. So think hair, skin, nails, like tighter skin, fuller hair, stronger nails. But on the inside, it's joint health. It's the recovery of your muscles. It's your gut health. It's your bone density. It's literally everything that's connective tissue in the body.
Starting point is 00:39:07 And it's the most abundant protein in your body. but after your 20s, you stop producing it naturally, which is why we get aches and pains as we get older. Hey, speak for yourself. No, it's kind of, it's so fascinating. Obviously, we know this is something that I'm interested in. Just, you know, because we don't talk about health on this program a lot, but it is something that personally I'm very interested in.
Starting point is 00:39:35 When we come back, final segment, we're talking to Sean Lake, who now I realize is the head of Bubbs Naturals. Bubbs Naturals, we'll be right back talking to Sean Lake. Welcome back. We're talking to Sean Lake. And we've transitioned into talking about this company, Bubbs Naturals. I wanted to offer my, we were not planning this.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Just literally off the air just now, I said to Sean, people listening may want to order this. Can we get a product code or something? So you said, Eric 20, If people go to Bubbs Natural's, they can use Eric 20. Yep. Hands down. Eric 20, so E-R-I-C-20.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Eric 20 at checkout. Give them 20% off that first purchase and let's help change some lives. And then literally 10% of all of our profits go to serve, you know, Glenn's Foundation and military charity. So you have this blend of self-improvement. You're making your body better and you're helping others along the way. Well, believe me, I take this both sides of this very, very strong. seriously. So I'm just glad when these kinds of things meet. So folks, if you want to go to Bubbs naturales, use Eric 20, E.RIC 20, you get 20% off. We were not planning this. Literally, five minutes ago,
Starting point is 00:41:21 it occurred to me. So it gave us one more minute on the other products that are there. Yeah. So collagen we talked about. Collagen, you take every single day. My second product, my favorite out of all of them, is an MCT oil powder. So all it is, it's two ingredients. It's coconut oil broken into a medium chain triglyceride and tapioca starch. So it's the simplest non-dairy creamer that you can get your hands on if you, you know, if you want to put something in your coffee that is rocket fuel for your brain, those healthy fats, those medium chain triglycerides are just level up your mental focus and you get energy for hours. And I mean like you don't need that afternoon cup of coffee. You don't balk. You're just playing through because your body
Starting point is 00:42:08 doesn't want to burn sugar for its energy source. It wants those healthy fats. So you're just giving your body those MCTs. And we do one with a grass fed butter, which is my personal favorite. And it's just delicious. And it's the idea of bulletproofing your day, like that old, that old coffee, the bulletproof coffee is our version of that is just creamy and delicious. And if you're going to put something in your coffee, put collagen in it and make your life better and put the creamer in it and make your life better. And I mean, literally these, I'm going to go to I'm going to Bubbs Natural's. I'm going to use E.R.C.20. I'm going to do this. I'm just going to say. Well, so I want to get back to how this whole thing started. Your buddy, Glenn Doherty, an American hero, laid down his life. It's hard for most of us to believe. But I want to say to my audience, folks, this is the life God wants every single one of us to live, a heroic life. A life. A life. of meaning, beauty, and truth. This is why we're on this planet. And when we hear something like the
Starting point is 00:43:13 story of Glenn, it is inspiring to every one of us. You don't want to live a shallow life, ladies and gentlemen. Now you say, well, I don't want to give my life. You don't know what you want to do. Trust me, you just want to live for what is right and good and true. And you leave the results in God's hands. So, Sean, I just want to say thank you for sharing Glenn's story and your story. I mean, how his life inspired you to do the right thing, to confront the CIA and our federal government, which should be ashamed of themselves, but they were forced to do the right thing. Thank God. I'm just grateful for you. If people want to find you, where do they go to Bub's naturals? Is that where they can contact you or see what you're up to? Yeah, honestly, reach out to me directly through Bubbs Naturals. Everyone knows how to get a hold of me. We're not, you know, so big or anything where I'm distant. I always want to talk. to anyone who's got questions, whether it be about what happened with Glenn and Benghazi in that journey, to just answering questions about your health because, you know, what you just said, how are you going to be able to help others if you're not taking care of yourself?
Starting point is 00:44:19 And I truly believe in that. Like, I need to be the best version of myself if I'm going to be a father, a husband, if I'm going to help our journey at Bubbs. And you have to invest in that. So, yeah, bubsnatchels.com. you can find us on Amazon. Amazon's choice, Amazon's badges of all over the things. Obviously, if you go to the website directly, folks, you'll get 20% off, Eric 20.
Starting point is 00:44:44 We're at a time, Sean Lake, just a privilege to have this time. God bless you. Thank you. I appreciate it.
