Welcome to the Eric Mataxis show. We'll get you from point A to point B. But if you're looking for point C, well, buddy, you're on your own.
But if you'll wait right here, in just about the two minutes, the bus to point C will be coming right by.
And now here's your Ralph Cramden of the airways, Eric Mott, Texas.
Hey there, folks.
Welcome to the program.
It is January 14th, 2025, Tuesday.
And by the grace of God, six days from today, Donald Trump will officially be president of the United States.
you called it you called it Eric I have to say you did call it you said he's coming back in people
thought you were nuts but you knew I should know no I mean I knew I knew he was coming back in I knew
he was coming back in and I know that we're still in a war but God hears the prayers of the saints
you know many many many many many people have been praying and praying and praying and
praying for America and what we see now is a is a gift of
God. It is God's mercy, God's grace. We do not deserve it. It is a gift of God. And when God gives you a gift,
you better use it appropriately. So the freedoms that we continue to have, we better use them for God's
purposes and for people around the world who are hungry for freedom. So we have a lot of work to do,
but it's exciting. We get to do it. I just can't believe it. I'm going to be at the inauguration.
In fact, we'll be there.
I think on the 18th,
there's some events on the 19th,
but we'll be there on the 20th.
And I think I'll have to stay in D.C. for a few days.
I'm speaking at...
You've got a lot of stuff happening there.
There's a lot of things you're going to be going to.
Yeah.
I may even be down there too on the 9th.
I don't know yet. We'll see.
But we'll be doing some updates with you on the show next week.
Yeah, well, it's crazy. The whole thing, I kind of can't believe it. I'm just so, I'm just so excited. It's, uh, you know, what can I say? Okay, folks, before we get too far, uh, today's guest is John Zamirak, Z-M-I-R-A-K. If you don't know who John Z-M-M-A-K is, you may be a communist or an atheist. Be very careful. You need to know who John Zmirak is. Also in our
Hour 2.
Shameen Nugent.
She's known most famously as the wife of Ted Nugent.
But she has a book out.
She cares about health, beauty, you know, all the stuff that we should care about.
She's really a tremendous person.
And so I'm talking to her in Hour 2, Shemaine Nugent.
And in a couple of seconds, talking to John Zamirma...
Ted Nugent.
Did you mention that?
I just said she's Ted Nugent's wife of many.
You know why I asked because she, they've been married like 37 years.
And in the interview, she mentions that in dog years, you know, rock star years, that kind of marriage is like a thousand years old.
It's like a thousand years.
Yeah.
In rock star years.
Well, I mean, and she's very attractive.
So you think like what you've been married, how long to, you know, it's interesting.
She's obviously, she's really into health.
She's taking great care of herself.
She's wonderful.
So I'm just excited.
that today I can talk to John Smirak and Shamin Nugent, two, you know, A-plus guests.
Now, I should say also, we have Victor Davis Hansen coming on tomorrow.
That's a huge deal.
We haven't had him in a while.
Big deal.
We've got Larry Taunton coming on the program.
So we've just got a plethora of great guests to look forward to.
Okay, a couple of things I want to mention before we get too far afield.
First of all, the cruise, I don't think I have mentioned this.
By the way, 240 people have officially signed up for the cruise, the Greek Islands cruise with Eric Mtaxas, June 6th through 16th.
But, so 240 people are now signed up.
So it's kind of ticking up every single day.
Somebody's coming on board, not literally yet.
But what I haven't mentioned.
I don't think, is we are doing a pre-cruz kind of add-on. So if you're coming on the cruise,
I guess even if you're not coming on the cruise, you could still, you could do this. But we're
going to do three days in Athens. So June, I guess, fourth, fifth, and sixth, because the ship
doesn't leave till the evening of the sixth. So the fourth, fifth, and sixth in June, we're going
to do an Athens tour. Obviously, if you're on a boat that leaves Athens, you're not going to see Athens.
So if you want to see Athens, we're going to do a Socrates in the city event in the home of Socrates,
not his actual house, because that's too expensive. No, in the city of Socrates. We're going to do a Socrates in the
city event on June 5th. We're trying to get Pericles as my guest, but people say you can't afford
him, but or Demosthenes or somebody, somebody, some Greek, but that's going to be June 5th.
And then on the 4th. So we're doing a lot of touring. We're going to go to Mars Hill to the
Acropolis and some other cool stuff, the Corinth Canal. And, you know, we're going to, so if you're
interested, you know, maybe you can't even come on the cruise and you just, you, you, you
you know, you'll be in Europe or something.
So for three days, we're doing that.
I don't know how people can find out about that.
If you're not subscribed to my newsletter,
I don't even know how to tell you to find out about this pre-cruz thing.
You have to be signed up.
You have to go to ericmetaxis.com, sign up for the newsletter,
because there's always links in the newsletter,
ericmetaxis.com.
But I don't think I've announced that on the program yet.
So you know about the cruise June 6th to the 16th,
but as I say, it's a pre-cruise thing.
I, to get over jet lag, I said, I need to go several days in advance anyway.
So if you want to see me really jet lagged, sign up for the pre-crues because I will be jet-lagged and wacky.
And anyway, so yeah, 240 people have already officially signed up.
So I think the more we get, the better.
It's going to be fun.
It's going to be a blast.
We've got a lot of friends coming.
Victoria Jackson just texted me last night, like, what airline should I take?
Isn't that it's classic Vicky?
It's like you're her personal travel assistant.
Yeah. What airline should I take?
Like, I don't know. You live in Nashville like whatever is easiest.
So, but.
You know, it helps you make those choices.
You're not the guy I figured that.
I don't know. No, I mean, I do make those choices myself.
But, but it's just kind of a funny thing like to, you know, like whatever.
It's, but anyway, so I hope that she'll be on the pre-cruz thing in Athens.
It'll be a blast.
to film some of this because, I mean, me on the Acropolis, Mars Hill, whatever.
This is going to, it's going to be fun. It's going to be fun. So, but if you want to know about
the cruise, go to Ericmetaxis.com slash cruise, Ericmataxis.com slash cruise. And as I said on the
program yesterday, I'm now nervous because we can see it. We turn the corner. It's 2025. I can say
straight shot to June. And I need to, I need to get in shape. I need to, you know, we got it.
You've got to take this seriously, folks.
I am also trying to get in the shape, lose a little weight,
and that is why I have reached out to acquire a stomach bug today.
So that's what I'm doing.
Okay, we don't need to hear about that.
But thank you for offering.
And also, Chameen Nugent, when she speaks in hour two,
she can address health and fitness.
She's big on that.
Okay.
I wanted to talk a little bit about the acquisition of Greenland,
Chris, are you as excited as I am about this?
Yeah, I can't tell if it's just some big elaborate joke and I'm waiting for a punchline or I mean, I love those sweaters they have over there.
Well, you can get those sweaters without actually acquiring the island.
No one told me that.
Yeah, yeah.
So, but, but what I, I've said this before, but what I admire about Trump is it's, it's, I mean, I hate the cliche.
he thinks out of the box, but that's one way of putting it. But he, he's able to dream, just like,
you know, Kennedy imbued hope in the nation, you know, this young president saying we're going to put
on the man on the moon at the end of the decade and what it, you know, that it's kind of a wonderful
thing to be able to dream and say, yeah, what if we were able to acquire Greenland and this becomes,
I mean, you know, to bless Greenland, not to oppress Greenland. So I just think that Trump,
Trump's ability to get us excited about the future.
That's an amazing thing in a country and a culture that has basically been, I don't know,
we've been in a malaise for about 60 years.
Okay, we're going to go to Chimane Nugent.
She's known most famously as the wife of Ted Nugent.
So you're putting money away, saving for the future, for retirement, for your family.

Hey, the folks, welcome back. As promised, my guess is Shemaine Nugent. Now, you're probably guessing Nugent. What is that like Ted Nugent? Yes. Yes, she was not born with the name Shemaine Nugent. She married Ted Nugent.
Shemaine. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. I'm actually probably the polar opposite of Ted Nugent. I'm not like Ted Nugent. We have a lot in common, but there's a lot that we don't have in common, too. But isn't that what makes.
marriage work theoretically, like you're supposed to be different. For example, he's a guy.
He's a guy. I'm not. Right? Yeah. Now, why do you say, because I want to talk to you about you have a
brand new book out. Yes. And I'm excited about the subject to the book, about living well,
health, fitness. I care about that stuff. And I'm glad you do. And I want more people to think about
this. I want to talk to you about that. But just on the subject, since a lot of folks might not know you,
you, you know, when you say you're quite different from Ted Nugent, so you were not a rock star in the 70s?
Is that, do you also differ from him since?
When I first met him, it was October 3rd, 1988.
I was a traffic reporter for a rock and roll radio station in Detroit.
He came in and filled in for the morning crew for a whole week.
I knew nothing about rock and roll.
I knew about the traffic in Detroit, but I never, I couldn't tell you one of his songs of my
life depended on it. And then four months later, we got married. Wow. And now it's going to be
tell you one Ted Dunes. His big hit in the 70s was cat scratch fever. Yes. I just, I just,
I just remember that. But anyway, he's a he's a wild man in the best sense, in the sense that I
admire. I admire wild people, crazy people, because they're the sanest among us. So is he like a, a
strict carnivore, he's not?
No, we eat everything, but mostly meat.
I'm a bow hunter as well, and we have a show called Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild.
In fact, that trophy, we've got many of them from our television show that's been on air
for about 35 years.
I've hunted with a bow and arrow because of Ted.
I never hunted, never went to a rock and roll concert before I met him, never shot a gun.
And so that's why I say we were, we were pretty much polar opposites.
I listened to Donna Summer in disco.
I even liked Barry Manilow.
I will just total disclaimer.
But here I am.
You know, God has a way of putting people together that it just, it works.
And yeah, it'll be 37 years in a couple weeks.
Wow.
Amazing.
God bless you.
And congratulations.
Thank you.
Seriously, that's extraordinary.
So you said so much I want to react to, but I want to talk to you about your book, brand new book, same publisher as me, which is Skyhorse. They're fantastic. But tell us about your book. And it's a subject, as I said, I'm very interested in this.
Well, my story is I've been a fitness instructor since 1980, and I got sick and almost died from toxic mold between the walls of my home that was once featured on an embassed.
TV cribs and no doctors could help me. So I had to become my own investigator and find out how to
cure myself and my family without using pharmaceutical drugs. And I started doing alternative remedies
or now they call it functional medicine. 20 years ago, I was doing infrared sauna, vitamin IVs,
and oxygen. And I changed my diet. And this led me on a path to think, especially with the pandemic,
why aren't more people talking about being healthier?
Thank you, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., coming into making America healthy again.
We have got to fix this country, and it starts with our food and what's going on in the air,
soil, and water.
And I'm really excited about this new administration, obviously.
But that really set me up.
Getting sick and almost dying is a wake-up call, Eric.
And when you don't have your health, you can't do any.
else. And that set me on this course. I made a promise to myself and God, if I could find
answers, I was going to share it with everybody. And so here I am. Well, I'm thrilled to hear you say
that. I almost never talk about it. But I've had a similar journey. I didn't almost die,
but around age, what was I, 27 in the early 90s, I had a real health crisis.
which has been with me ever since.
And so it's a similar thing, visiting alternative doctors, exercise, different kinds of therapy,
and you name it, and I tried it, acupuncture, everything.
And I think there are a lot of people in this country that when you go down a path like that,
and it's been brutal.
Again, I don't talk about it because I don't like to think about it,
but a brutal path, years and years of feeling sick, chronic fatigue, Lyme disease,
every kind of different thing, collation therapy, whatever.
And you have a different view of the medical establishment.
And you realize that most people were just kind of living our lives generally unhealthfully.
And so it's become very important to me.
And I'm glad that you have written about it.
Now, the title of your book, it's abundantly well.
But the subtitle is Bible-based wisdom for weight,
loss, increased energy, and vibrant health. Now, why do you say Bible-based? Let me ask the first
question. When did you become a Christian? When did that become important in your life? Well, I was born and
raised into a Catholic family, went to Catholic school, but to be totally honest with you, didn't
understand it, went to Mass and it was in Latin, didn't understand it until I was really in my
20s. And I think after getting sick in my 30s, that's when I really, you know, those things that
bring us to our knees. I believe Eric bring us closer to God. And I think that set me on a journey
to find out why was this happening to me. I thought I was a good person. And actually in my book,
I also write about spiritual warfare that might be contributing to some of our health issues. So I
run the gamut, so to speak, in this book. And I talk about, you know, everything. I think for me,
everything's it all comes back to God and the last maybe 10 years I've done a deep dive into
spiritual warfare and getting connected with people like you I read your book it was such a
it opened my eyes.
Which book?
Well, whenever anybody say I've read your whenever anybody says I've read your book I always
have to tease them because I've written 15 books and so I want to know like what are you
talking about?
Usually it's Bonhofer or Letter to the American.
church. Here's what happened to me. So I don't talk about this much, but it's available for people
to go down the rabbit hole. I, we've had, I've had death threats, probably because of who I'm
married to, maybe because I'm a hunter, for whatever reason. So several years ago, I had a very
serious death threat and I carry. I conceal carry. I teach fitness classes.
So I brought the gun in my gym bag to my class.
Next morning I had an early flight, did not take the gun out of my bag.
So I was arrested for trying to bring a gun onto a plane, which everybody knows that, you know, that doesn't happen.
This happens thousands of times a day, but for some reason when that happened to me, my mugshot went all over the world and it's not a good one.
Long story short, Glenn Beck sent me a letter right there, right there.
I have it framed that said Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, and Bonhoeffer all were arrested, all on the right side of the law.
Stay strong.
And that just really, it buoyed my spirit.
So that's how I found out.
I'm like, who's Bonhofer?
Then I found your book.
then I read your book. And I got to tell you, you're one of my favorite authors. You're writing like
every word matters. And I just so appreciate that. It means a lot that you would say that for many
reasons. But when you say every word matters, I really, really do pride myself on that because I read a lot
of books. And most books are not that well written. And it drives me crazy because you want,
the words should suck you along to you want to read it. And so I really do pride myself on that. And
thank you for for putting it that way. The Bonhofer story, I don't know if you know this,
because I had you on the program some months ago, but I can't remember if I shared it,
but I was the one that introduced Glenn Beck to Dietrich Bonhoffer. And this was in 2010.
He'd never heard of Bonhofer, and he had his big show on Fox, and I mailed him a copy of the book
and a Bonhofer poster, and that opened the door for him on Bonhofer. So it's just a beautiful
thing God uses us in this way. I mean, nothing could thrill me more than that God would use me
and that folks like you would read about Bonhofer. And did you see the movie? I don't know if you saw
the movie that came out of use. I have not. I want to. I say to everybody, it's a great movie. Don't miss it.
It's on streaming now. It's fantastic. It's like a movie movie. It's a big deal thing.
I can't wait. We're going to go to a break. Folks, I'm talking to Shemaine Nugent. You can spell Nugent.
N-U-G-E-N-T.
There's not too many Nugent's around.
But there are two that I know of.
The one we're talking to you today,
Shamin has written a brand new book called
Abundantly Well. We're going to get into the
details of it. I'm excited.
It's Bible-based wisdom for weight loss,
increased energy, and vibrant
health. And we're going to talk about
spiritual warfare, which is utterly
central to human life.
Most people ignore it. It doesn't matter.
It doesn't ignore you.
Very important. We'll be right back talking to
Shemaine Nugent, the brand new book, abundantly well.
Stick around.

Welcome back, folks.
I'm talking to Shemaine Nugent.
The brand new book is abundantly well,
Bible-based wisdom for weight loss,
increased energy, and vibrant health.
So, Shamein, let's get into it.
But I want to start with,
you mentioned spiritual warfare.
I'm glad you're the kind of a Christian
that understands the reality of spiritual warfare.
Christians don't. And it's a stunning thing. The devil would love us to not know that we're in a
spiritual war. God wants us to know we are in a spiritual war. And God has called us and created us to be
in a spiritual war. It's not extra credit. It's the very reason we're here, but a lot of people don't
know about it. So how did that come to your attention? Well, again, when I got sick and almost
died, I struggled to find answers. I went to doctors who told me maybe I was too healthy. I should
start eating McDonald's and stop working out.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Seriously.
No, you're kidding.
No, Dr. Tai in Hanover, Michigan.
You told me that.
This was a long time ago.
And, you know, I had to, we have to find our own answers and things that work for us.
It wasn't initially, after I got sick, this was about 20 years ago, that I really started
diving deep into spiritual warfare.
I had to heal my body and basically detoxify my body.
I had four different types of mold in my bloodstream, and I also had pre-emphasima.
I was in the hospital for a month, and it changed my life, quite honestly.
And it set me on this path to wonder, okay, you know, when you go to the doctor and you
check off, do you have sore throat, headache, all these things, I had all those symptoms.
But then it would say, are you depressed?
Well, yeah, because I have all these symptoms.
but does the devil not want you sick and fat and lazy and depressed?
There's no doubt.
No, no, there's no doubt about this.
And this is part of, I mean, you know, when people talk about, I mean, I've ranted about this
for years, but there are a lot of people who think of themselves as Christians who have a
very, very circumscribed idea of what it is to live the Christian life.
If they think it means, oh, I have to believe these theological ideas, boom, boom, boom, yeah, I believe it.
I believe it.
I'm a Christian.
No, no, that's just the beginning.
Now you have to live it out and you have to ask, what is God calling me to do?
How is God calling me to live?
And you see a lot of unhealthy, overweight, lethargic Christians, and you realize that the devil has them compromised and God wants to give us total victory.
And so again, that's why I'm excited to talk to you about the book.
So you've been on this journey.
What are some of the things?
I mean, give us the basics.
They're folks listening right now.
What are some of the basics that you've learned?
Well, as a fitness instructor, I love to exercise.
I teach Zumba.
I traveled all around the world as a Zumba fitness instructor, but also trainer.
I taught in Australia, London, Paris, and pretty much every state in the United States.
So I do like it.
I know a lot of people don't like to exercise.
However, as we age and as we go through different phases and stages in our life, when I was a busy mom, I didn't have time two hours to spend in the gym.
Or now that I'm writing books and doing so many things that I love to do, I don't have time to spend two hours in the gym.
Maybe that's for another phase of my life.
I found a way to work out for 15, 20 minutes a day, three to five times a week and to maintain my weight.
and here's another one, Eric, without giving up my favorite food.
And so I put all of that into the book.
Now, there's a couple of things that you need to know.
I don't eat Twinkies.
Okay, let's just be honest about that.
I mean, that's like saying I don't do Coke and heroin.
Why would anybody eat a Twinkie?
I mean, at a certain age, and you and I are about this, we're about the same age.
I just feel like, are you an idiot?
That's like riding a tricycle.
Like you've aged out.
You don't do that anymore.
But there are people crazy enough to put that in their bodies.
Like it amazes me.
It's funny because, you know, there's this, obviously a lot of people know not to smoke or drink too much.
And Ted would always say, and then there's Keith Richards.
So what, you know, I think everything in moderation, will I ever have a Twinkie?
Probably not because it's not food.
What I try to do is if I want something.
something sweet, I make it myself. The other day, here's a quick recipe idea. I'm a chocolate. I'm a
chocaholic, but I have pure chocolate, like 70 to 90 percent, pure chocolate. And then I
melted it and put in heavy whipping cream. And you don't even have to bake it. You put it in the
refrigerator, and it's like chocolate moose. So if I want something sweet to eat, I think about
God food. I think about how I can maybe have an apple a day.
or maybe not every day, but I think about the less processing.
If you go to the grocery store and you shop on the inner aisles where the food is in a box
on a shelf for months or even years, is that good fuel for your sacred temple?
No.
So as a hunter and especially a bow hunter, it really resonated with me that I am procuring my own
sustenance just by doing this. And it's not easy. I don't know if you hunt, Eric, but it's a whole
another responsibility that I think we as human beings have. We are so disconnected from our food source.
We go to the grocery store. Somebody wraps it in plastic and provides it for you. But when you
are connected to harvesting or killing that animal, we don't waste food in our house. We know,
like I go sit in a tree with a bow and air with a sharp stick.
Do you think it's easy for me to go, okay, God, chew the deer now.
Okay, let's go.
But it makes us more responsible, better wildlife managers and stewards of the ground.
This is all just great information.
We'll be right back, folks.
I'm talking to Chameen Nugent, brand new book, abundantly well.
Don't go away.
Folks, welcome back.
I'm talking to Shemaine Nugent.
How'd you get a name like Chamein?
I know how you got the name Nugent.
You married Ted.
How'd you get the name?
Chamein.
I've never heard that name before.
It comes from the movie El Cid with Sophia Loren and Charlton Heston.
And my parents spelled it differently.
In the movie, it was C-H-I.
And they spelled it S-H-E because I didn't want the hard C-H sound.
So, yeah, that's it.
I love when I get a clear answer.
Sophia Loren, Charlton, Heston, that is so cool.
Yeah.
So your book is about.
weight loss, increased energy, vibrant health. I really believe that we're going through a reformation
in the American church and that people are realizing the necessity of living out our biblical faith
in every single sphere, not just in some theological sphere, but in every sphere, in how I live,
in what I eat, in whether I exercise, in what I do. What were you just saying about, you know,
if people don't, you know, they're not big into exercise.
Because to me, exercise has become central because it's a necessity, because I was sick for so
many years.
It's one thing I can do to help myself feel better.
And I don't feel great all the time, but it's something that I can do.
But what is your, what do you talk about when you talk about exercise?
Well, for me, I have to move my body.
I have slight scoliosis.
if I don't move, my back will literally freeze.
My neck will freeze.
Like I feel like I'm really stiff.
So it has to become a lifestyle.
And we all have habits.
We have to make fitness, even if it's 10 minutes a day.
We have to make fitness and moving our body a big part of our lives.
One of the things that one of the tips that I give in my book is let's say, you know,
it's January.
People are going to start running a marathon or start.
running a few miles or get in shape, whatever.
If you start doing that, start whatever exercise it is, our bodies miraculously have this
amazing ability to adapt to physical and emotional stress.
It's called the principle of adaptation.
So what we need to do is strike the muscles in a different way, increase the intensity,
the duration, or the frequency with which we work out, i.e., do everything.
One day you might not feel like running.
One day you might just want to stretch.
Go swimming, do hot yoga, write a bike, whatever it is.
It's important to exercise and stretch our bodies so that we can really, I think it's honoring God, our sacred temples, by moving our bodies and staying healthy so that we can continue to do God's good work.
I agree strongly with everything you just said.
I think that exercise has to be central.
The older you get, the more important it is.
You can get away with a lot when you're younger,
but the older you are, the more you realize that my body wants to do nothing.
And I have to use my will that God has put in me to do the right thing.
And it is extraordinary because there's so many people, I'm sure many listening now,
who they don't do anything.
And I want to say to them, it's God's will.
for you to do something. It's God's will. And I have to say that oftentimes today, I will go for a run.
I can tell you right now, I don't want to. I can tell you right now, I don't want to. But by the grace of God,
I put in my sneakers, I get dressed warm, and I go. And then once you go, you're going and God is with you in it,
and you're always happy you did it. And that's kind of life. But I think there are a lot of people that,
maybe they're hanging out with people that do nothing so they think it's normal, you know,
to be 40 pounds overweight or something, but it's not, it's not God's will. And so I just love the
idea of, you know, particularly people of faith, but everybody talking about health. So what, and what about
food? Let's talk about food. The closer you get to the hoof, the ground or the tree, the better. The more
we process food, the more we lose nutrients. And I want to, I think there's a growing number of people who want to return to
food, not man-made food. Unfortunately, a lot of grocery stores are taking what you think would be
regular food, and they're putting, injecting chemicals and steroids and even MRNA and vaccines
into the cattle, into the pigs, into things that you would consume. So as a hunter,
I want to encourage everybody to at least give it a shot and try it. It will make you appreciate,
give it a shot, it will make you appreciate the sustenance that you feed your family with.
And I think for me, I know that the deer that we harvest is not shut up with chemicals and steroids.
And it has the opportunity like we do to exercise.
And it's moving rather than being born and raised and dying, standing or in one place like many
commercial cattle are today.
many of the commercial chickens and things that we consume.
So for me, it all makes sense.
And I want to encourage people, if there's one takeaway from this interview, Eric,
I might seem to know a lot about health and wellness and fitness, and I do.
But my goal in life is to change your life.
I want people to come alongside people who are watching this,
who have never worked out before.
I promise if you pick up this book, I'm going to be your cheerleader.
I'm going to be with you every step of the way.
I know what it's like.
In college, I was 30 pounds heavier than I am now.
And I am sharing everything that I learned to get you to be healthier and to help you to do God's good work and understand there are forces of evil that love it if you don't feel good and you're overweight and you're depressed.
This is very important, folks.
I hope you're listening.
This is an important conversation.
And I really do believe that we're turning a corner in the country and in the culture with regard to health.
I think that RFK Jr. being taken on by the Trump administration, this is game changing.
I don't think a year ago anybody would dream, would dream that somebody like RFK Jr., who is a health nut,
in the best sense.
He's a genius when it comes to all this different stuff,
that somebody like that would be given a position to educate the whole country
about the vile poison that most of us are putting in our bodies.
It's kind of unbelievable.
Now, suddenly people are waking up.
And what it means, if the free market responds, which it will,
that people who are producing this garbage are going to think,
oh, well, if we want to stay relevant and we want to stay in business,
we're going to have to, you know, get with the program and we're going to have to take this carcinogenic red food dye off of our list of where.
So the whole thing is wonderful.
I think it's exciting.
We just have a few minutes left, folks.
I'm talking to Shemaine Nugent, the brand new book, abundantly well, abundantly well, Bible-based wisdom for weight loss, increased energy and vibrant health.
What's not to like?
We'll be right back.
I know they shot him with missiles and arrow flags.
Folks, welcome back.
I'm talking to Shemaine Nugent, brand new book, abundantly well.
Okay, so you talk Shamin in the book about like a 40-day plan.
Sometimes I think people need this.
So what do you, you know, when you talk about this, what do you mean a 40-day plan?
Well, there's a lot of significance in the Bible about 40, the number 40, 40 days.
And beyond that, if you're looking at, if I tell you.
Eric, you're going to get in the best shape of your life.
All you have to do is devote one year.
You got to work out seven times a week and X, Y, and Z.
We want to make things.
We want things now.
We want to find answers to everything now.
We have these.
And we have so much at our fingertips.
But the difficult thing, if it was that easy to lose weight and to feel great by taking
a pill, one pill, don't you think?
everybody would do it. So 40 days for me, it's also doable. It's also achievable. And a lot of times when
people set New Year's resolutions or any resolutions, they have a goal of looking great for a wedding
or a class reunion or something like that, sometimes it's difficult to see too far ahead. And that's why
I wrote this book in little pieces. It only takes you a few minutes a day to go through each one.
And at the end of every chapter, every day is a prayer.
So it's designed in a way to not be too much and take you too long.
Sounds great to me.
I think I love the idea that you end every chapter with a prayer because really people do need to see this as you're honoring God.
And again, I said it before.
But I think there's been a tremendous disconnect in the church across the country where people act like,
that's got nothing to do with my walk with God.
And it does.
I mean, when I see overweight, unhealthy-looking Christians, it breaks my heart because I just know that they're not living in the way that God would want them to.
And they could be more effective for him.
And sometimes I think it takes a crisis.
In my life, it took a crisis, many crises, plural, because it was a long road for me.
I would exercise and then get very sick because I had chronic fatigue.
And so God had me start very slowly.
I think it was 2008 that I finally got the memo where the Lord spoke to me that I want you
to exercise every day, but a little bit, not a lot, not a lot.
I want you, your goal to be exercising in three months, not to hit it hard and then fall off
and forget about it for a year or two or whatever, but just to do a little bit.
And I say to people like walking, huge thing.
If you walk every day for 20 or 30 minutes, listen to a podcast, whatever it is, that's monumental way to begin.
We've just got a minute left, Chamein.
What can we share in our last minute?
Well, one thing you do, let's say you go for a walk.
You can increase the intensity by doing squats every minute.
Set your phone, set your timer, and you do a couple of squats and then keep going.
You could do a high intensity interval training session just by,
walking and mix it up a lot. But the most important thing is that I do believe, Eric, this is a lot of,
this is what's going on is spiritual warfare. And I do talk about that in the book. And I can't wait
for you to read it, for everybody else to read it. And I hope it changes their life because our goal,
I think as Christians, is to share the gospel, share the message and love one another, help each other.
And that's what I want to do. And how amazing would it be if Christians across the country were
known for being in better shape than anybody else.
What an amazing witness that would be.
If Christians were known for caring about what they put into their bodies, about how
they live, folks, all this stuff is connected.
This is not just random.
It's very important.
And by God's grace, we're talking about it right now.
So, Shemaine, just great to have you back.
God bless you.
Congratulations on how many years of marriage coming up soon?
37.
Unbelievable.
God bless you and Ted.
In rock and roll years, it's like dog years, so you time seven.
Exactly.
The book is abundantly well.
Folks, grab a copy abundantly well.
Shameen, God bless you.
God bless you.
Thanks for having me.
