Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, welcome to the Eric Mattaxas show, sponsored by Legacy Precious Metals. There's never been a better time to invest in precious metals. Visit legacy p.m.investments.com. That's legacy p.m. Investments.com. Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to listen to a man of grace, sophistication, integrity, and whimsy? Well, so are we. But until such a man shows up, please welcome Eric Mattaxas. Folks, welcome back. You know that when I find the solution to a problem, I get very excited.
Starting point is 00:00:45 If you've been listening to this program for a while, you know that I talk about people of faith being active in their communities, in how they spend their money, in how they vote in every way. And one of the things that got me really excited when I discovered Robert Netsley, he's with Inspire Investing, he is helping people do something which I guess we can talk about it is even better than just spending your money in good places and not spending your money in bad places. But where is your money invested? Is it invested in companies that share your values? is your money invested in companies that are working against your values.
Starting point is 00:01:36 And I would say against God's values. And so we bring him on now. Robert Nestle, welcome back. It's a pleasure to be here, Eric, as always. Thanks for having me. It's, I get excited to time I talk to you just because there's a solution, you know, because this is the kind of thing that I would want to dream up. I would say, can't somebody figure out a way?
Starting point is 00:01:58 when we talk about all the money that's out there, people of faith in America, what's that? No, I'm, it wasn't saying anything. Yeah, people, people of faith in America have a lot of money. It's not just they spend a lot of money, but they have a lot of money invested and retirement funds, whatever. And a lot of that, as I've learned in talking to you, is with companies that are really bad,
Starting point is 00:02:30 that are really woke, that are working against everything we believe in. So then the question is, how do I figure that out? How do I get my money out of those places? And you have come up with a solution, and I should tell people, I'll repeat it again and again, inspireadvisors.com slash Eric. That's the website, inspireadvisors.com slash Eric. If people go to inspireadvisors.com slash Eric, Robert Nessley, what will they find there? how have you solved this problem?
Starting point is 00:03:02 Well, yeah, they'll find an offer that our staff is done for, I don't know how many countless of thousands of investors around the country, around the world, and we're making a special offer here for your listeners, is to just help you understand what you own. I mean, it's the first step. And so my personal story, I was working at one of the big four Wall Street Investment Bank and in their investment department. And long story short, just realized one day, here I am president of our local pro-life pregnancy center, and I own three stocks of companies, manufacturing abortion drugs.
Starting point is 00:03:37 So every time the young lady goes across the street to plant parent who has an abortion, I just made money on that transaction, right? I literally profited from that transaction. And then you go down the laundry list of all sorts of other things. They're going on in the portfolio, LGBT activism, even trafficking, et cetera. And I'm investing in these businesses. I'm profiting from these businesses. And likely so are you, right? And I'm not here to be your moral police.
Starting point is 00:03:59 That's not my position. But what we want to do is help people understand what it is that they're putting their money into. It's not just a mutual fund ticker symbol with some dollars attached. There are real companies doing real things, some of which are incredibly evil and immoral. And it would turn your stomach if you realized what the money is that they're putting into your pocket and what you're helping to fund. And basically, so this report will show you exactly down at the nitty-gritty of on this date, this company gave this much money, you gave this much money to plan parenthood, let's say, or what have you. And so that you can then be informed and then make informed decisions about how you want to invest
Starting point is 00:04:34 your money, which we believe is God's money in a way that, you know, honors him, helps society thrive, stops undermining your, you know, deeply held values. The list goes on. So that's, that's in a nutshell, what we do with Inspire. And this is, I mean, this is God's mandate. It's this commandment to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, strength. And the idea is that if you kind of act like, well, that doesn't matter. Everything matters.
Starting point is 00:05:03 And it's only inertia, which is, you know, the devil owns inertia. When you don't do anything, the devil wins and his values win. So here is an opportunity, folks, for you to take your money out of these companies or to even know where your money is invested. What is your money, which you're responsible for? It's God's money. Who's it helping? What are you invested in? So if you go to inspireadvisors.com slash Eric, I'll say it again,
Starting point is 00:05:37 Inspireadvisors.com slash Eric, you can get a report. You can learn. This is free, obviously, Robert. This is free. Right. Yeah, complimentary. Totally complimentary. We're passionate about spreading a movement.
Starting point is 00:05:51 There are millions of Christians and others around the world who are moving their money by the billions of dollars out of the, you know, the woke investment firms that are that are doing everything they can to, you know, frankly, ruin our cherished ways of life, you know, in many ways. And just putting into investments that are, you know, just as equally wise and financially viable and everything else, they just happen to be in companies that are just doing their job, you know, if they're making shoes, they're making shoes, not sponsoring abortion legislation or what have you.
Starting point is 00:06:27 So, yeah, totally free. And, man, I want to stress the size of the movement, too. There is a movement of people. You're not alone. This is kind of ringing true. Like, oh, my gosh, I wonder what I should do. But by God's grace, we've been one of the fastest growing investment firms in the nation. In the top three fastest growing investment firms in the nation for the past number of years,
Starting point is 00:06:47 we're managing over $2.3 billion. And we're not the only firm out here, right? there. We have colleagues that are working alongside. This is a movement. And you get to be a part of that. If you go to Aspiredbysa.com slash Eric, to figure out how easy it is to just be intentional instead of conforming
Starting point is 00:07:04 to Wall Street's recommendations for your life, which, you know, might not be in your best interest. So please consider that. Ladies and gentlemen, look, this is game-changing stuff. I want to be really clear. This is game-changing stuff. If everybody listening to this program would do this and you would take your money out of the funds that are doing evil
Starting point is 00:07:30 things. It is a game changer in America because not only are you defunding these companies from doing bad things, but you're giving companies an incentive to do the right thing. You're saying, you know what, we better be careful. We shouldn't give our money to plan parenthood or to whatever evil things are doing because, you know what, there's going to be pushback. We're going to lose people. People aren't going to invest in us. So I'm asking you to go to inspireadvisors.com slash Eric. It is free, folks. It is free. Please do this. Resist the inertia. Inspireadvisors.com slash Eric, inspireadvisors.com slash Eric. Check it out. Talk into myself and feeling old. I want to tell you, we're doing a fundraiser.
Starting point is 00:08:25 for Israel right now, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, you must go to metaxistalkis talk.com. You'll see the banner, Israel, at war. We need your help. They need your help. All kinds of people are being helped to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. So the elderly are getting meals. Imagine living in a war zone.
Starting point is 00:08:55 I'm just saying this is something we can do. So there's a phone number, 800, 235, 7775. 800, 235. Am I getting that right? 800, 235-7-75. We need you to help. A number of the things your donations are making possible. I mentioned rushing aid to elderly beneficiaries.
Starting point is 00:09:25 and families who are in need of basics like food and water right now, medical and emergency equipment, and as you might imagine, psychological counseling to deal with the trauma of what they're going through right now. As promised, I have a number of significant Robertsons as my guest. Willie and Corey, welcome back. Hello.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Hey there. We're significant. I'm joking around. You're all significant, but you, I love you guys. I've got to know you. And I was so excited when I heard about this film called The Blind. Tell my audience what this is about. And I know Willie, you lived a little bit of this.
Starting point is 00:12:51 So tell my audience what this film is about, which is opening this Thursday. This Thursday. September 28th. Yeah. Yeah, I live just a piece of it. So most of my memories happen as soon as the film ends. That's where my memories began. I am played on it by a,
Starting point is 00:13:10 we had to find the right actor to be Little Willie at two years old. That was very important to me. It's hard to find little children with beards, but you found it. It really is. So we found a great candidate named John Shepherd Robertson, who is my grandson. So my grandson's playing me on a movie about my dad, which is, how about that? That's pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Pretty surreal. He did great, too. I figured, I felt like he captured, in essence, who I was. I mean, listen, look, this is so, I know, I have, you know, been to your home and eating your mother's cooking and gone duck hunting with your dad. and Uncle Sy. And I have an affection for you all and I know the story,
Starting point is 00:14:02 the amazing story of your father's story, your mother's story with your father, whatever. So that's what this film is about. I think a lot of people will be shocked and blessed by this story because they didn't know it. So the title is the blind, obviously
Starting point is 00:14:18 referring to the duck blind, I guess at least in part, but also the blind leading the blind. What, I mean, this is a feature film. This is a, this is a, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is, this is a feature film about your father's story. It's a real movie, yeah. So we, uh, so Corey and I got into really production after Doug Vagney's because we realized the importance of media and TV shows and movies.
Starting point is 00:14:44 And so we wanted to bring, uh, positive stories out. And we didn't plan on doing it particularly about us or our family in any way, but we, this story came up and we were like, wow, we, we really feel like we need to tell this story, especially now that film care, you know, since they're still hearing, can tell us all the memories they have because some of the people in the movie have passed on. And so we want to get the real story.
Starting point is 00:15:06 So it says this is a true story. It's not based on true stories. It's literally comes out of their mouths and everybody who was around at that time. And yeah, it's a story of redemption. It's faith-based. And that obviously we're of faith. But most of the movie is not,
Starting point is 00:15:23 I mean, it was hard to keep it. not rated R. Just because it feels life was so out of control. And it's the story of him with this struggle. And you realize how this family ended up doing all these things. But it was so close to being over and none of it would happen. So if that moment of faith doesn't happen, if that relationship doesn't stay together, my life looks completely different.
Starting point is 00:15:45 I probably don't meet her. I mean, obviously we have no company. We have no TV show. Well, so wait, so tell the story because, again, I know this story. Your father, who is a wild man today in the good sense, was a wild man in a bad sense. He was a maniac, you know, like a character out of a, I don't know, out of a novel, out of a Cormac McCarthy novel. So tell my audience just up front, what is the story? What is the gist of the story?
Starting point is 00:16:15 Yeah, so we go back to their childhood. It's neat because it's like 50s, 60s, early 70s, like timepiece and the set, designer. and costume designer did an amazing job. But we went back and told their story from when Bill and Kay met, like Kay was a teen mom. She got pregnant in high school. Phil was the father of Al, their first son. And then they got married, very young, went off to college.
Starting point is 00:16:38 There's Terry Bradshaw's in the film, which, if you know Phil's story, he was the starting quarterback ahead of Terry Bradshaw. So you see a little bit of that play out. Wait a minute, wait. You're so familiar with this, you don't understand how dramatic that is. Because again, I know this story. Yeah. So your father, I mean, on the one hand, he's this wild man, but he goes to college.
Starting point is 00:16:58 So what's the school that he goes to? Louisiana Tech, yeah. Louisiana Tech. Now, just for perspective, because some of your viewers might say, well, that's not a big school and that's not. Terry Bradshaw ended up being the first college pick of 1970. So the number one draft pick, which, I mean, now we're thinking like that's, I mean, you're set for a lot. and all that. Terry was the number one pick. Terry was backing up Phil. So obviously, I wasn't around to know how good he was. But if you were starting ahead of the guy who would end up in the
Starting point is 00:17:31 Hall of Fame and all that, you know, it was, it was, they had these two quarterbacks there. And Bradshaw says himself, had they been there at the same time, Bradshaw never would have played. He never would have got on the field. And Phil not put football. Yeah. That was before the transfer portal. Yeah. That's how that. Because most people would just not, would not get that. You know, when you look at you dead today, you cannot picture him. him as that guy, you know, 50 plus years ago throwing a football with that level of excellence.
Starting point is 00:18:03 And so now at that point, your parents were married. Ish. Yeah. None of us are still, even though we researched this movie. It's hard tracking out exactly when that happened. Actually, I think they finally got married after Jace was born. So, yeah, they made it through college. everything.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Wait, so they're together. They're together. But they were not, but they didn't, but they didn't tie the not officially until a little bit later. They said they had a hippie wedding. That's what they call it. And we don't know what that means. I can explain that to you.
Starting point is 00:18:37 It involves flowers in your hair. You write your own vows. And you say it on a, on a fancy knolls. And a couple of kids being born. So that's what that's what that looks like. looked like, yes. But we did put a story in there about Bradshaw. Now, I know this is true because Bradshaw told me this story when I was probably 13 years old. He was at, he came to our mall in Monroe, Louisiana. He was at Dillard's Men's Department store. This is where his career was at the
Starting point is 00:19:09 time. And so mom said, oh, Terry Bradshaw, your dad played with him. And so she took me up there. And when we got up there and he recognized Kay, and he goes, and he tells me this story about Phil taking a bass fishing. And it's a really funny story. I don't want to give him. Your father taking Terry Bradson. Yeah, when they were in college. And so we put that whole story in the movie.
Starting point is 00:19:30 That was from, that was from Terry. Terry tells us that story. Phil had actually not told me that story. Well, in Phil actually, in research in this movie, we didn't know this, but Phil actually nicknamed Terry the blonde bomber. So he got his nickname from Phil in college. So this is back, this is so far back that Terry Bradshaw had hair. Yes, he did.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Wow, that's like before the flood. That's a long time. Yeah. So Phil's has this promising career, but, you know, he's got two kids already. And he ends up, he goes on to teach school. He gets his master's in English, goes on to teach school. Wait, stop. Stop.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Here we go again. Yes. Wildman, Phil Robertson. Yes. Got his master's degree in English. English. I just want to say, Eric McTax has got his BA in English. I never got a master's degree. The idea that your father, who most people think of as a just a wild man who kills ducks, he got a master's decree in English and was a teacher. Yes, he was. He was. But during that time period, he was not not doing so well. That's when the drinking started partying. Really, it started in college, but then it led to about 10 years of alcoholism, addiction, adultery, abuse is as bad as you can get. Yeah, it was as bad.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Yeah, it was really bad. That was his wild man period, for sure. Oh, yeah. And this is where, and this is where the marriage starts falling apart. He kicks us out of the house. And then that's when he goes to live in the woods by himself. He's running from the police, actually. And so, I mean, again, I guess I always want to hit pause.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Like, goes to live in the woods by himself. Yeah. That's pretty dramatic. And I have heard this story. I think I heard it from your mother and your father about that moment where he kicks his wife and children out of the house. I mean, this is some dark stuff. I mean, it ends so well. But in the middle of it, I just can't imagine what that would have been like.
Starting point is 00:21:38 Yeah, and that's the thing. It's not Doug Bownesty. So it's not, you know, Doug Bownesty's kind of the fruits of the labor of them staying together after all these years. And so, yeah, there wasn't a lot of. happy times during those times. And so there's some moments. Yeah, there's some moments we have. I'm sorry. You know what? We're going to a break. We'll be right back, folks. I'm talking to Willie and Fri Robertson. Don't go away. Hey, folks, you've all helped support MyPillow and their employees in these tough economic times. And the doctors who formulated Relief Factor for, them selected the four best ingredients, yes, 100% drug-free ingredients, and each one of them helps your body deal with inflammation. Each of the four ingredients deals with inflammation from a different metabolic pathway. That's the point. Starting point is 00:25:04 Use promo code Eric for more specials. 800-978-3057. Use promo code Eric or mypillow.com. Welcome back. I'm talking to Willie and Corey Robertson. Brand new film out this week, folks. It is called The Blind, an amazing story. The True Story of Phil Robbins. Robertson, Ms. Kay, and so, Willie, I just interrupted you. We just went to a break. Please start again where we just cut off.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Yeah, I was saying there's some fun moments on it too. I think a lot of people enjoy young Uncle Si. So we get to see. So there's actually three versions of Kay and Phil and Sae. There's the kid version and then the teenager and then we have the adult versions. But it's pretty funny watching the little kid, sigh, and the teenage side, how all that quirkiness began. So you see where this was forming, turning him in. So we do have some moments like that that are on the movie. But, you know, I've got to be honest, most of it is gritty and tough. It's, it's, it's, and I was so thankful for Kay and Phil, because they've always been transparent about their lives. But, you know, to dig up these old wounds and skeletons and, you know, put it out there, you know, for everyone to see was, it was tough.
Starting point is 00:26:28 I mean, I know it's tough on Phil and Kay as well. I'd say it's been much harder on them than we thought. guess because they have, like you said, you've heard their story. They written it in books. They told it, which it's impacted millions of lives already, just people hearing their story and, you know, their stories on YouTube. But it's one thing to like hear it. Another thing to see it on a screen with actors portraying you. And so that's been hard. I mean, there's been some tears shed for sure as we watched it as a family. Like we were all bawling, including Phil, which you know, you don't see. That's very rare. So, but from day one, they both have said.
Starting point is 00:27:03 like if this can help one person, if it saves one marriage, if it helps one person, if one person meets Jesus because of it, then it's all worth it. And so just to see their humility in that and their willingness to like say, yeah, we'll show the hardest parts, the darkest parts, the worst moment of our life to help somebody has been really powerful for us to see. Well, that's huge. And it's really, it's very, very important, you know, because it will touch life. It will touch lives in a way that a book won't because now everybody reads books.
Starting point is 00:27:38 So where will the film be available, this film called The Blind releasing this week? Yeah, it's all over the country. I think we're in like 1800 theaters now. And you can go to theblindmovey.com and type in your city. It'll tell you what theater to go to. And yeah, it comes out Thursday. We're only guaranteed one week. So we need you to go this first week.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Get out there and see it. And, you know, the more people who see it, of course, hopefully we'll get another week. And then we hear Taylor Swift is coming into theaters and going to bust everybody out. So we got a couple of weeks here to make our statement. Well, look, this gets to something I've said many times on this program and when I'm giving speeches around the country. Ladies and gentlemen, you need to support these things. You have an obligation. And inertia, that's Satan, inertia, to do nothing. you need to do the right thing and support these kinds of films. Bring your friends, get your church involved.
Starting point is 00:28:42 It's vital. You know, it's part of saving America is that we have to bring these stories into the media, into the mainstream. And God bless you guys for doing that. That's something that I am myself trying to do with a number of projects because this is a vital, vital piece of the battle, of this ideological war that we're in. It's really a spiritual war.
Starting point is 00:29:04 We have not gotten stories like this into the mainstream in most of our lifetimes, you know. And so the fact that you're doing this, I'm thrilled and proud of you, but people need to support it. So folks, it's this week, this Thursday, and you need to make a point, make a date, make an appointment, write it down and make sure you do this because these are the kinds of films that need to be promoted, to be supported and we know that the culture will do everything it can not to tell the story of somebody like a Phil Robertson because they hate his guts because he speaks the truth and they are often enemies of the truth. Where do you guys, you know, when you said you were after the end of Duck Dynasty, you were talking about wanting to get into media. So how did that happen? Because that's been on my heart for decades. It's so clear strategically that's where we
Starting point is 00:29:58 ought to be. So how did that happen for you for you two? Well, really, it was that dynasty. I think it just kind of opened our eyes to the power of entertainment and how it shape how it's shaping our culture. It made me more conscious of like what I'm watching and what I'm intaking because I was like, oh, entertainment actually moves people and shapes people. It's art. So it's not neutral. It's moving you one way or another. And for our show, we saw, we have this, you know, fun little show about our family, but we ended with a prayer and just that one simple little thing, how it impact people. People would come up with tears. Like our family now sits down and has a prayer together because of your show or our, my husband goes to church because he saw real men that love God and are normal
Starting point is 00:30:41 people, you know, or like I watched it with my dad when he had cancer and it just brought joy and it, you know, how the emotional impact and the cultural impact. And then people started going beers and wearing camos and you know, you're like, oh, this is actually moving. people and shaping people. And then you're like, oh, how is the other way? And how much more of entertainment is shaping? It's shaping us in the other way and all the agendas that are out there on the other side. How is that shaping us? And I actually heard a speaker one time and he was talking about kind of like the seven cultural mountains and the different, you know, politics and religion and education, entertainment. And he said in today's world,
Starting point is 00:31:22 that the mountain of entertainment is like the mountain. Everything else is hills in its shadow because of how much we're consuming of entertainment. And so that was that was really the impetus for us and just say like, oh, we need to do more of this. Like we need more entertainment that that helps culture that like has positive values, has messages of faith, has, you know, family, family friendly entertainment, things like that that move our culture in a positive direction rather than in, you know, a negative direction. The film is the blind. You got to see it.
Starting point is 00:31:58 I mean, actually, you got to see it. The blind, the blind movie.com. We'll be right back. With the overturn of Roe v. That's Essential Church streaming at SalemNow.com. Welcome back. I'm talking to Willie and Corey Robertson of the Robertson Dynasty of Duck Dynasty. And the film out this week, which ladies and gentlemen, you need to see. You need to bring people to see. It's a beautiful story, redemptive story, powerful story.
Starting point is 00:34:42 It's called The Blind. The Blind. So we were just talking, Willie and Corey, about, you know, your sense of how important entertainment is. And I've talked many times on this program and everywhere in my life for decades about this very issue where Christians and conservatives and, have dropped the ball on this issue, that we have let the left, the anti-American loony left, increasingly now, woke loony left, kind of tell these stories. And people don't even know stories of beautiful redemption like the one that you're telling in this film this week, the blind. People don't know, I didn't know until Duck Dynasty existed, as you just said, Corey, that, you know, real men,
Starting point is 00:35:34 can love God and could, you know, and so this is very powerful stuff. And it's at the center of my life. And that's why when I heard you were doing this, I was just so excited. Do you have other projects and things that you're working on these days? We do. Yeah. We have a few other, a couple of documentaries that we're working on that we're really excited about, another film that's kind of next on the docket, which now I think the whole, the
Starting point is 00:36:03 The strike just ended. So that's helpful for that kind of thing. Yeah. So that's very helpful. So yeah, we do. We started tread lively productions, really the idea that like we're not supposed to tread lightly as Christians. We need to tread lively.
Starting point is 00:36:16 God calls us so an abundant life. And that was something that I saw too when we did that Dynasty, this kind of like fear of Hollywood in Christian circles, you know, which obviously you're not, not you. But there's definitely a, you know, within whenever we decided we were going to do this, you know, well-meaning Christians were like, oh, you're going to go to Hollywood. Like, you know, like, it's going to destroy your family. Or you're going to let your daughter, you know, do dance for the stars. It's so scary.
Starting point is 00:36:44 But we're like, oh, don't we have the spirit of God in us? We're supposed to be going into these places, which should be the light of the world. We should be going into the darkness, not retreating from. And so that's kind of been a message that we felt like we, you know, when anybody comes us as like, oh, I have this opportunity. I'm a believer to be in Hollywood. I'm like, yes, like go. Like, we need more of that.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Well, obviously, though, I mean, the problem is, you know, you have to go knowing what you're getting into. You have to go with wisdom and the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, they'll eat you alive. But that's, you know, when I first encountered you all and Duck, I see, I couldn't even believe it, that there was something on mainstream TV with a family like you guys that prayed. I said, this is a cultural breakthrough. This is a big deal. And so I'm glad that you are, you know, of expanding on that and that you're putting stuff like this out there.
Starting point is 00:37:36 And I think there's a lot of signs of hope. I mean, the sound of freedom was an example of that, the Jesus Revolution, an example of that. But we need way, way, way more. We need way more of this stuff. People are hungry for this stuff. And I feel like the left, you know, enough decades have passed that you're able now to see the bankruptcy, the lunacy of their ideas.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Like they were kind of hiding it for a while, but it's now out in the open as pure, like insane propaganda. And I think a lot of people are pulling away from that because it's become so open and so sick. And they're more, they're hungry for things like what you all are doing. Does anybody notable, is there anybody notable in this film? Is this no name actors who are getting a big shot? Where was Dennis Quaid playing Phil Robertson? So we have Amelia Eve plays Ms. Kay and Aaron Von A.J. in place Phil and they're actually both British and so they had to get the accents down which was a whole thing yes they did a fantastic job we had them so we had a big crawfish bowl which that's a
Starting point is 00:38:45 Louisiana thing um we had a crawfish bowl and had a lot of the actors that were playing the main characters there and Phil and Kay were there so they got to just sit down with them and really like absorb their accents and mannerisms and everything which was really cool and we even had Phil So there's kind of a narration that that drives the film. And we had the real Phil read that. And that way it could really be in his own words. And if, you know, we shifted things that made the script be really in Phil's words. And then the actor was able to have that to, you know, use to really embody the character, which was, which is fun to see.
Starting point is 00:39:22 It was, I mean, this is our first film. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it was amazing. But how do you guys, I mean, it's just funny to me, Willie and Corey, like that you guys are, you just dove in the deep end of the the pool creating, you know, top level entertainment. Obviously, this didn't happen overnight, but it's just amazing and gratifying to me. And I think to everybody listening that you are doing this stuff.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Yeah, we went in with my cousin, Zach Bashar, who is with us on Tread Lively. And Zach's mother, my aunt, Jan, who's passed away, was the one on the movie. And you'll see her she'll be very prominent. She's the one who never gave up on Phil. She's the one who talked that preacher into going up to that bar and sharing his faith. And she's the one who told the preacher, she said, if you convert Phil Robertson, he'll convert thousands. Now, how she saw that at the time was amazing because this guy's like Loserville, like, you know, just out of control. But she saw that.
Starting point is 00:40:20 And so actually, that's our partner, my cousin, Zach, who's been in the same way. He's been out there on the front of this with culture and trying to change things as well. So he does worse with Phil and Jace and all their podcasts and all their stuff. And so, yeah, I mean, I think together we just all kind of have that kind of kind of kind of kind of kind of spirit of saying, hey, let's, let's jump in and do it. How hard can it be? And it was very hard. It was his hardest.
Starting point is 00:40:45 It was pretty difficult. Well, no, this is hard, but it's worth it, right? I mean, we spend, you know, many, many years trying to get the Bonhofer film done. That's coming out next year. I'm excited that some of these stories are getting told. And a lot of people are having the choice, actually, you know, to see something like this rather than whatever garbage is being offered to them. And as I say, the garbage is, it's getting worse. It's getting more and more, you know, Hollywood has often been, has been out of touch, basically, in our lifetimes with what America wants.
Starting point is 00:41:28 but it's gotten increasingly out of touch so that there's a point now where you just say, like, I'll just stay home. But you guys are producing films like this. So we've got a final segment coming up. But folks, you got to see this. You got to make this a win for these kinds of films. It's called The Blind.
Starting point is 00:41:47 You can go to theblindmovie.com. Find out where it's playing. Please make an effort. Theblindmovie.com. We'll be right back. Welcome back. I'm talking to Bill Robertson's, Well, actually, just to some of the Robertsons,
Starting point is 00:42:29 to Willie and Corey Robertson about the film opening up this week, The Blind. Willie, you had something you were going to say. Yeah, I had one big thing I wanted to tell you. Now, Eric, you've done a lot of cool things in your life. You really impressed us, but really, Corey, was something you did recently. She was so impressed with your interview with Jordan Peterson. I loved it. She came and said, you have to let you.
Starting point is 00:42:55 I sent it to my whole family. You were fantastic. Yeah. So good. And we interviewed with him as well, which was the hardest interview I've ever done. Can I tell you what? Listen. It was the longest.
Starting point is 00:43:08 My wife, Suzanne, told me that she was texting with you, Corey, and that you had heard my Jordan Peterson thing. And, of course, I was thrilled that Jordan Peterson asked me to do his podcast. and he can be difficult to talk to. And so when Suzanne told me that you guys were doing his podcast, I said, wait, what? Like what? What, you know, like what? How in the world did that happen?
Starting point is 00:43:38 Because I do not see Jordan Peterson being aware of Duck Dynasty or whatever. How did that happen? And how. Willie's going to have to tell this story because this is funny. We were speaking at Ramsey's, uh, entre leadership event together. I mean, not together on the, but he was a speaker. I was speaker. So I had spoken the day before he spoke. He came off the stage and I was going to meet him. I said, hey, I said, my wife's a huge fan of yours. So I've loved him for a little time, read all
Starting point is 00:44:07 his book. I hear this little Canadian accent from her closet, from the bathroom. And then she tries to explain to me, which I have no idea. And so I said, hey, she's a big fan, great speech. And so he looks at me and he goes, oh, well, what were you doing? at the conference and I said, Willie Robertson just did a Canadian accent on the airport to Texas show. Lord, you can take me now.
Starting point is 00:44:32 Like I can't. There you go. I said, well, I was one of the, I was, I gave a speech. And he looks at me and I can tell he's not, there's a little facial profiling going on. He's looking at me like, it's impossible. So then he he asked a question there. This is the funniest thing
Starting point is 00:44:47 I've ever heard. He goes, did you speak to the whole group? that's an insult that's a Canadian insult I think he was just trying to figure out like was there a different
Starting point is 00:45:00 was there something with the like the the rough the business you know and he just figure it out and so
Starting point is 00:45:08 and I said I did I said I was on the same stage as you and now he just he cannot you should have hauled off and punched him well no
Starting point is 00:45:17 no no no no then he says what did you what did you talk about and I said neuroscience and Canadian politics now that one for the first
Starting point is 00:45:28 time I had Jordan Peterson speechless he didn't know what to say I don't know if am I supposed to laugh I was going to say that that's hilarious neuroscience and Canadian it was great and everybody around us started laughing
Starting point is 00:45:43 and I said I'm just joking me man I gave most of them thank you but he I joked with him on the podcast and like you know it's it's kind of like to me it's a challenge to get somebody like that to laugh. But he cracked me up. He said, when he, when he, you heard it right now. In the podcast, he said to me like, so, you know, you were in the Yale English department and you became a Christian. He says, so, so he says, when did you switch your tune? Or why did you
Starting point is 00:46:08 switch your tune? And I just laughed out loud. Like, what a funny way to ask how you became a Christian. But I'm thrilled that he has invited you guys on. So that was great. So that's what we met. And then he, and then when they said Doug Darnest, then he was like he was embarrassed he didn't realize and he was like uh because you know he had just spoken for an hour comes off this and i know i caught him like right when it comes i get it like you walk off and somebody puts a homeless guy in front of you like hey i was a speaker and so you're like you know i mean it was this is too funny we got to get you back like asap even for a short interview we're out of time right now folks the film is the blind you have an obligation ladies and gentlemen
Starting point is 00:46:47 please go see the blind go to the blind movie dot com will he and cordial Thank you.
