Starting point is 00:00:20 Yes, Mr. Lewis? Keep the door open and take a seat, please. So, how's Trisha doing? Did she tell you? I gave her reading the other night. Liliana. Her father's going to pass soon, and there will be a big inheritance. Liliana.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Okay, and actually, sir, I've been meaning to tell you, there's something very big on the horizon for you. On Saturday, I had a vision that you were about to take off from... Enough! Enough! That's... Oh. That's enough. Excuse me.
Starting point is 00:00:59 No more readings. No more of this psychic mumbo-jumbo. Okay. Lillianna, you have been a great employee for most of your tenure. Thank you. But these last two months, your behavior has been unprofessional and frankly quite disturbing. But Mr. Lewis. Let me finish.
Starting point is 00:01:16 You have cost this firm tens of thousands of dollars in the last three weeks alone. Shelby Dyer said that you told him his wife was cheating on him. I was right. And then, and then, one of our biggest clients, Percy Fleming, you told him that the spirits were telling him to leave his job, that he was wasting his potential? I did, but, sir, to be fair, I was right. We are done with this.
Starting point is 00:01:45 I'm sorry, you're fired. What? Enough is enough. I was very clear with you three weeks ago that a receptionist job description does not include palm readings or fortune-telling. Or stop, or whatever the hell you're doing. You are terminated immediately. Collect your things and be out of this office within the hour. And once you leave, you are not to return for any reason,
Starting point is 00:02:06 nor will you contact anyone associated with this office, which means both staff and clientele. Do you understand? Do you understand? Okay, fine. But just let me tell you about your trip tomorrow. Not another word. Shut it.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Now, leave. Okay. Oh, Lilliana, if you ever. Call my wife again. Well, you're psychic. You know what I'm thinking. Don't. Welcome back to The Exorcist Files,
Starting point is 00:03:17 the ethereal entrance into the enigmatic Elysium of the Eternal. Well, that was alliterative, wasn't it? Today we bring you part two of medium, not well done. Where we last left you, a young woman with a unique spiritual sensitivity, found her powers to perceive the unseen realm growing exponentially after a medium laid his hands on her head and prayed for her after a seance for her deceased fiancé. However, what seemed to be a gift quickly turned into a tyrant, as Aliana became obsessed with prophesying anything and everything to anyone she met.
Starting point is 00:03:51 It all, of course, had a head, and the actual head, when Lillianna conjured up a spirit masquerading as her friend's dead uncle in a bathroom. Unsurprisingly, as Leliana gave herself over more and more to dark fortune-telling, her friends became more and more scarce. What will befall our misfortune-telling friend? Well, only she would know, right? Buckle up, it's time for part two. Here to help us with this PSA against spiritual seances
Starting point is 00:04:16 is our guide to the God of all glory, Father Carlos Martens. The sudden ability to access preternatural knowledge and the follow from exercising that ability is what brought Liliana into my office. Her gift, as she called it, took on a life of its own and began causing her life to fall apart. Internally, she experienced a need to be everyone's psychic guru, a constant craving were her words for it, a relentless drive to reveal people's hidden and secret information. When she wasn't delivering that information, a deep depression enveloped her.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Lillianna lost her receptionist job because many upon whom she imposed her psychic abilities didn't appreciate being disturbed by the ominous and unsettling information she disclosed. Most recognized it for what it was, occult revelations. And therein is the key characteristic of Lillianna's psychic ability. Her prophecies were always negative. While she prefaced them with a promise of hopefulness, Good things are in store for you. This is just a minor setback because great things are coming, etc.
Starting point is 00:05:41 They never brought about blessing, peace, or calm, but anguish, anger, and anxiety. The heart of each message was doom and gloom. If Lillianna could perceive this, it didn't phase her in the least. In fact, she was unrelenting in sharing occult information. doing so, or at least planning to do so, came to occupy almost all of her time. But what she also failed to notice was that her interactions with people always left them unnerved, agitated, and void of peace. And the change within her person was profound. Her new found ability caused a normally quiet, shy person
Starting point is 00:06:27 to become an obnoxiously extroverted psychic who worked to make everyone dependent upon her knowledge. But that's the point. Liliana presented the occult information she offered as a means to a happy outcome, but the happiness never came. More than just giving everyone the creeps, interacting with Liliana cannibalized,
Starting point is 00:06:52 their peace. So, Jorge is getting his mechanic certification right now. I wish I could get my man to fix anything. I can't give him to fix himself a sandwich. I know, right? But he said as soon as he finishes, he's... Hey! Oh, shit. She's here. Why didn't you tell me she was coming? Who? Lilliana, did you invite her? Maybe she's meeting someone else. I just can't take any more of her. She creeps the hell out of me. Tell her we need to leave. No, we need to talk to her about this.
Starting point is 00:07:32 How the hell does she know we were here? Hey, guys, hey. Hey. I had a feeling you'd be here. Let me guess, Chardonnese. So, what are we dishing on? I do have some stuff I want to share. Fine, fine, I'll do it.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Lilliana, we need to talk. Oh, I know. But first, I have to tell you. something. Today I was at Manny's hardware and one of the guys on the floor had this energy on him. It was so intense. So I asked the other side to reveal what he needed to know and I got this crazy revelation. He's supposed to be with this like far richer, more attractive woman and leave his wife. And so turns out his manager has been flirting with him and I told him that is the universe giving him the green light. Like tonight it's going down. How crazy is that?
Starting point is 00:08:30 Madre. That is wrong in so many levels. I mean, affairs seem wrong, but sometimes you have to do the unexpected to get the expected, you know? I think he's showing her his hardware. You know what I mean? Lilliana, I'm, I am so tired of this. I hate being around you now. No more of this. Vienna, we love you, your family, but it's too much. You're like, what you say is creepy. Okay. And like, you're destroying this guy's marriage. Think of his wife. Oh, interesting. You both enjoyed me giving your readings when you needed help. Yeah, but it's all you ever talk about now. You've changed. And everything you say is like dark, sad, and evil. And it just fucks with people. It's not healthy. No lie?
Starting point is 00:09:22 Whenever I'm with you, you scared the shit out of me, Lilliana. Okay. And not just her, no, me, and pretty much everyone, Lil. Oh, okay, yeah. But see, you don't have to be frightened. In fact, I have some new information for each of you that you will want to hear. Nope, nope, I'm done. I got to cut the cord.
Starting point is 00:09:42 You are not hearing us. This is over. Tanya! Daniel! Bye. Oh, my gosh. The two women voiced with everyone felt. It was impossible to be around Liliana without becoming suspicious of family, friends, or the other people in their lives.
Starting point is 00:10:06 An abiding fear remained with everyone after each interaction. When her friends asked her to stop communicating occult information to them, she never complied, but brazenly forged ahead with each message. As if the information conveyed was so self-evolved. evidently good that they would become instantly convinced of its worth. Liliana's friends and family noticed she was different after Juan's seance. In simplest terms, she became the tool of something that not only changed her personality, but also blocked her from seeing how arrogant and obnoxious she had become.
Starting point is 00:10:46 And because she wouldn't drop the occult stuff, everyone cut Liliana out of their lives. I was sleeping. Hold on. Hey, girl. You are alive. Why haven't you returned my calls? Oh, Yeliana, that's my foot. Why didn't you return my calls? It's a good bruise. I've been busy, and I needed a break. We told you this. We all need some space.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Daniela, I have a reading for you. Trust me. You need to hear this. Did you not hear anything? We said, I don't know what to do with you. Sorry, I have to go. Daniela, you will not close that door. You will hear the words I have for you. You're bad shit, you know? Ever since that seance, you've been insane.
Starting point is 00:12:16 You need to leave. Don't even try it. Get away from the door and get out of my apartment. Leave me alone. I see you, Daniela. That's right. I see through all. Step back into that garbage heap, you call up bedroom.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Comfy yet? Good. You're getting your fucking reading. The spirits have news for you. You hear me now? Then please help me. Amen. Father Martin's here.

Again, it begins Monday, January 20th. God bless you. The granting of a demonic gift in order to enter into someone is exactly the deal Liliana
Starting point is 00:15:26 made with a demon without knowing it. Her acceptance of his occult gift put her into a relationship akin to a spiritual marriage with him. Through the prayers and incantations of Mauricio, she consented to covenantial ties, ties that bound her with the demon. She was now in a relationship with him, and that relationship imposed duties, duties from which she could not excuse herself. Among these, the most important was to provide the demon with a constant audience. When a long period went by without Liliana delivering an occult reading, the demon roared his displeasure. She became physically ill and diabolical phenomena manifested around her. For example, disembodied voices spoke from nowhere.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Objects might instantly break as she picked them up, and a mysterious source of water kept her bed soaking wet. All of this, of course, is in addition to almost every relationship. ship she had being ruined. However, as strange as it sounds, Lillianna never linked the two realities. She never saw a connection between her newfound psychic abilities on the one hand and the implosion of her life in virtually every aspect on the other. It was only when one of her friends confronted her about it that she saw the connection and realized that the powers gained at the sands were not from God. Okay, though, what things are you talking about? What's going on?
Starting point is 00:17:09 Like, have you ever felt like you're in a jar? What kind of jar? A jar? Yeah, like, I feel like I'm in this small space, Albert, and I can look and I can see things around me. Like now? Like... Yes, but I can't get to them, and everything, I can see. see this and it just keeps getting further and further from me. And also it's kind of distorted. I'm losing something and I think it's myself.
Starting point is 00:17:41 I think I'm going nuts. Why? Yeah. Okay, like last night. I was in bed watching TV. I haven't been feeling well. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I've been so tired feeling run down.
Starting point is 00:17:52 Okay. I'm sitting there and then I felt it. What? What did you feel? The room was freezing like Arctic. I could see my breath, like 40 degrees cooler from one minute to the next. And then water or something is coming up out of my bed. There's nothing around my bed that could drift, not even a water bottle.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Okay. I'm just asking, but couldn't have been a leak or something? I checked. I mean, I looked everywhere. My bed is on a frame. It does not touch the floor. There's no leaks on the ceilings or the walls. I was just in the bed and then water everywhere.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Like, what the hell could that be? But then, the scariest thing? I got up to go to the bathroom. I hear this loud bang and crash, come back into my room, and the TV glass is shattered. No. Yes, I'm telling you, I'm losing it. I don't know. God help us.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Exactly. Could this be God punishing me? I mean, yes, I think that's what it is. I have failed to get his messages out, and now he's angry with me. No. Lily, Lillianna, this isn't God. None of this is. He's judging me.
Starting point is 00:19:09 I know it. I haven't used my gift in so long. What are you talking about? God gave me a special gift. He reveals hidden things to me, and I share them. And people started to say it was too much, and I had to lay off. But it went against everything within me. And I know this must be God's vengeance.
Starting point is 00:19:29 He's punishing me for being a chicken shit. Okay, look, I don't know what you've gotten yourself into. I don't think God does this kind of thing. This isn't God punishing you? You for sure have something spiritual going on. I know. But it's not from the Father of Love. The Bible tells us where the Spirit of the Lord is there's freedom.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Does any of that sound like freedom to you? It sounds demonic. Demonic? Yes. This is demonic and you need help. I don't know. I don't know. No, you do.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Albert pointed out that nowhere in Scripture does God empower people with gifts when they participate in the occult. On the contrary, Scripture condemns, seances, mediums, sorcery, and witchcraft. This made Liliana reassess her understanding of what had happened to her, and she began to see that the occult abilities she had gained were not from God the Father, but from the evil ones. Like any drug user caught in the throes of addiction, Lillianna was so caught up in the tantalization that these abilities produced within her that she was unable to view them or the effect they produced objectively.
Starting point is 00:20:56 They made her feel needed and loved, but the irony was that the more she exercised these powers, the more isolated she became, and the more people she drove away. She was lonelier than ever. In addition, Lillianna was now in a state of constant anxiety. A doctor prescribed her antidepressants, but they brought no improvement. That only makes sense.
Starting point is 00:21:24 There was nothing physically wrong with Lillianna. Her problems were spiritual. Albert was a strong Christian and helped her open her eyes to the awful spiral in which she found herself. He had heard me speak at a church prayer group several months earlier, and knowing I was local, thought that she was a awful. that I might be able to help Lillianna. He actually made the appointment for her, and fortunately, she agreed to come.
Starting point is 00:21:52 The first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Hi, father. I'm sorry, I'm a little bit late. No problem, no problem, Lilliana, come on in. Have a seat. Would you like anything to drink? Oh, no, no. I'm fine, thank you. I, um, I... Uh, no need to be nervous. We're just talking. You are safe here. Okay, okay, thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Understandably, when Lillianna walked into my office, she was slightly nervous. But she was very much in control of herself. So how have you been? Oh, other than the constant nausea and anxiety? I guess I'm normal. If I'm, I am lonely if I'm being honest. A lot of my friends, they don't really talk to me anymore. I'm sorry, I know that must be painful.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Yeah. They were all pretty hurt by my issue. Well, you're here now, and that is a great first step. So what do you say we just open this up with prayer and see what happens? Sure, sure. Okay, well, we are just going to ask God to heal you from any demonic attachment, okay? No. You're not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Thank you, priest. Bingo. And just like that, the battle was on. Tell me your name. F-you! In the name of Jesus. Tell me your name. Brought in hell!
Starting point is 00:23:43 You filthy, what was shit-duster! Okay then, I am going to speak to Lilliana, and I command you, demon, not to interfere with our communication. Lilliana, I'm speaking to you. I need you to fight this demon by praying with me. If you cannot control your body, then pray internally, in your heart. Ask the Lord Jesus. to come into you and drive out the demon.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Your heart just keep saying, Jesus. Oh, she is moaning something all right. Your little whore is getting gang-raked at the moment. She's unavailable. Better come back to a different time, priest. Lord Jesus, I'm here to help your daughter,
Starting point is 00:24:25 Liliana, who you claimed for yourself at her baptism. Your baptism gives her the right to your mercy. Give your mercy to her now. Prevent the interference by the demon and allow her the freedom to run to you. Lilliana, invite Jesus into your heart by repeating his name. Keep saying Jesus. Be silent, you fucking sow, you're mine.
Starting point is 00:24:52 You're my fucking pride. You concept it to the boughs. You're mine. Shit-licking sow. Liliana went completely still. The demon knew that if she prayed, he could lose all of the real estate he had in her. So he paralyzed her, making her body unable to move. Oh, yes, I'm still here. No mute spirits for Ryan today. What Father is sharing is a common
Starting point is 00:25:25 occurrence with possessed individuals. Even if they desire it, they almost always find praying in extreme difficulty. If prayer is attempted, they often experience an intense headache or nausea or the words within their mind become scrambled. They may experience paralysis or become exhausted to the point of passing out. In the Liana's case, the deep The demon simply manifested and commandeered the exchange. This is why Father Martin's told her to keep saying within her heart the name of Jesus. No matter what one is consented to, the heart is always free to choose God. To choose God is always a possibility, as long as one is alive and breathing.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Well, of course, speaking truths out loud is powerful. God did speak the universe into existence, after all. Scripture also tells us that the posture of the heart is known and seen by God. Jesus affirms this in the New Testament that it is not because of the many words, that our prayers are heard, but that it is written in 1 Samuel 167, it is people who judge the outside, but the Lord looks on the heart. God and his omniscience knows the hearts of man. And just like Paul says in Romans, in the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness, we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who
Starting point is 00:26:37 searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. Liliana, I know you can hear me. Pray with me. Just keep saying the word yes as I invoke the Almighty Father, everlasting God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who sent your only begotten son into the world to free your people from the enemy.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Hear me now and be present to your daughter and her need. Snatch her from the clutches of the devil, this daughter whom you created in your image and at her baptism whom you remade in your likeness. Strike terror, Lord, into the filthy, rebellious spirit who is now trying to lay her waist.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Fill her with your courage so she can confidently fight against this enemy. Let your mighty hand cast him out of Lilliana so she may enjoy the freedom you have purchased for her. Show her the depth of your love. Get out of me. I don't want.
Starting point is 00:27:52 want this anymore. That's right. You heard her demon. Get out now. Liliana's saying, get out of me, indicated an internal breakthrough. It showed that the demon had lost enough of his hold that she at least uttered those words, even in the midst of his hold on her. Lillianna was fighting from the inside. Because of it, the demon was losing real estate. Demon, tell me your name.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Go fuck yourself. vestry piece of shit. She has rejected you, loser. Leave. The screaming sow gave herself to me. She married me! She wanted what I'd had, so she entered into a covenant with me. When? When did she do? At the seance for her dead, worm-filled boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:28:46 We have him here in hell with us. We'll give him a front-row seat. When we rape her, he'll get to enjoy that. He'll hear every crack of her joints and every one of her... screams. She has rejected you and asked Christ for his mercy. You must leave. Your carpenter has no mercy. He is a cruel rejecter, a tyrant who sits on a tyrant's throat. He creates only to denigrate and humiliate. Liar, he rejects you only because you ever reject him. Okay. Leave this child of God. Go to the hell he is prepared for you. You filthy, shitting.
Starting point is 00:29:27 A little sack of flesh, you live a fantasy. The one you serve is the coolest of all. His heaven is worse than hell. Liar, be silence and leave this child of God. This bride's pin? This oaken, never! She's my bride. And when I claim my right as husband, she'll bleed forever.
Starting point is 00:29:50 All of hell will drink from her bleeding wound. That will be the true blood of the ever-lasting covenant. Punish this demon for insulting your supreme act of love in the Eucharist. Punish him until nothing remains of his pride. Expose him to the rawness of your justice. Send your angels that forever look at you in love to punish him with a glow on their faces. Let their glow punish them. Did Father just say glow?
Starting point is 00:30:27 Let their glow punish him? he did in fact call a glow for show. This request by Father may seem strange. Do angels faces glow? And how is it injurious to demons? One of the amazing declarations in the scriptures is that we become that upon which we fix our eyes. There are many translations of the scriptures, and while some are more accurate than others,
Starting point is 00:30:48 simply because one translation is different from another does not necessarily mean it is less accurate. It may capture a different nuance of its meaning. One of the most interesting sentences in the book of Isaiah is that of chapter 60 verse 5. The revised standard version, one of the most popular Bible translations, renders it in English as, Then you shall see and be radiant. Similarly, the NIV translation says, then you will look and be radiant. However, the Hebrew study Bible, a popular translation of the Old Testament for Jews,
Starting point is 00:31:20 captures a more interesting nuance. It says, quote, as you behold, you will glow, Isaiah 60 chapter 5. The translators of that version saw in Scripture a relationship between God and those who gaze on him. We become what we behold. Why? Because something of God transfers to us when we fix our attention on him. Recall the warning that Jesus gave in his admonition regarding children. See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you in heaven their angels always behold the face of my father. Matthew 18, verse 10, the revised standard version. And if the angels are beholding the face of the father, then yes. Yep, you guessed it. They are all grown up.
Starting point is 00:31:59 This verse is also important as both the Catholic and Orthodox tradition teach that each person has a guardian angel assigned to assist them in their spiritual journey. While Protestants certainly believe in guardian angels, whether or not each person has just one assigned to them varies upon who you ask. But thankfully, something all Christians can agree on is angels are there to help and protect us. Here, Father Martins is invoking the angelic glow of the holy angel upon the rebellious angel who possesses the liana. and he is not going to like it. Father, let this demon see the glowing faces of your angels may eternally look on you and let him feel the full weight of the happiness that he has forfeited.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Oh, shut the fuck up, you walking tampon. Oh, no, no, no. Demon, this child of God has rejected you and asked Christ for his mercy. You must leave. No, this whore rejected your God. She told me. That may be so, but she is baptized and that entitles her to Christ's mercy.
Starting point is 00:33:06 She can ask for it whenever she wants it and it is available to her. That is her right and she has claimed it. Your Christ has no mercy, stupid, ignorant, shitty girl. Long again, liar. In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you, unclean spirit, reveal yourself. Who are you? Tell me your name. I am monstrous. I of the future breaker of souls. You have no power here, priest. This one belongs to me.
Starting point is 00:33:38 You have no claim here, Malsus. By the authority of the church, who is under the power of the most I, I order you to leave this soul in peace. Oh, your words are dust. Your faith of crumbling tower, I've walked this earth since before it had shadows, your authority is nothing to me. You maggot! I now had the demon's name, which meant progress. Silently, I began to pray and listen. I sensed God might be saying something to me. I went to a cabinet on the other side of the room
Starting point is 00:34:20 and returned with a relic and brandished it to the demon. Despite his vitriolic sneers, his eyes became large with unmistakable hatred. It is not my strength alone, you face, enemy of Christ. Receive the touch of one of his members. Bartolo, servant of the Virgin Mary, who turned from darkness to light, join the fight against this demon. Your little cat on away, you think that dead sack of shit frightens me. Try it.
Starting point is 00:35:08 St. Bartolo Longo, who was formally canonized this year, actually, 2020, was born in 1841 in southern Italy. Bartola was raised in a Catholic home, but took a vacation from the faithful, say, while studying law in Naples, he became swept up in the occult revival of the 19th century and was initiated as a satanic priest. Yes, you heard that right. A saint in heaven now was actually a formal card-carrying member of the enemy's team. Let's see if this sounds familiar.
Starting point is 00:35:37 His dalliance with darkness led him into extreme anxiety, depression, and ultimately torment from evil spirits. It was actually a Catholic professor who helped bring him to the faith. What changed everything for Bartolo was the rosary. He would later say, whoever spreads the rosary is saved. He became a lay Dominican
Starting point is 00:35:55 and spent his remaining years building churches, establishing orphanages, and promoting the rosary as a weapon against evil. He died in 1926 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II, who called him the, quote, man of Mary, from Satanist priest to San Francisco. If anyone is doubting whether there's hope for you, no matter what you've done, even if you're
Starting point is 00:36:15 that person who opens the cereal box wrong or doesn't re-rack your weights at the gym, there is hope for you. Okay, sorry to make you wait for such a Longo time. Let's get back to Father Martens, who is about to discipline this foul-mouth fiend. This is no stinking bone, but a testament to the repentance and the triumph of grace. It is a holy bone relic of the blessed Bartolo Lango, who once. served your master and then renounced him. He found God through devotion to the blessed Virgin
Starting point is 00:36:52 Mary and he stands with me here now and against you. That fecese's cook sucker would be happier now if he just kept piercing pores. Shameful loser praying the beads like a sniveling
Starting point is 00:37:08 disgusting, putrefying old hag. A piece of shit loser. He had all the sluts he wanted. But Cut off his balls and became a fucking you, Nick. From war chaser to whore himself. You both! Loser, is he?
Starting point is 00:37:25 Then feel his presence against your head, Mouspus. Holy Bartolo, I ask you to be present and enter this battle now. I ask you to attack Mousfus. Mouser in the name of God, as Holy Saint I cast you out. Depart and return to you. the abyss from where you came. The demon- latino
Starting point is 00:37:51 the odio de ovechea. Sono malasparanza, bastarda. Orichikosi al-iverno. Sonno malasperanza. Demer me. The demon's hatred of Bartolo
Starting point is 00:38:13 was so great that he started speaking to the relic as if to Bartolo himself. And he spoke in Italian. and with a southern accent at that. Bartolo Longo is from Latiniano, a small city near Bari in South Italy, right at the heel of the boot.
Starting point is 00:38:33 The demon knew exactly who he was and spoke to him with disdain. Go explet of yourself, you who are from Latiniano. I hate you, old lady. I am Malspez, bastard. I wish you were in hell. I am Malspe.
Starting point is 00:38:51 Malzpès's reaction to the relic of Blessed Bertolo Longo was visceral. When the church applies the term blessed to someone, it means that it believes the individual in question is in heaven. Obviously, we are talking about someone who is no longer living. Only the dead can be declared blessed. And the church makes such a declaration only after a long and thorough investigation. Case in point, the process. for Bartolo Longo's beatification began in 1934
Starting point is 00:39:26 and only ended at his beatification in 1980. If a pope later decides to promote a blessed to the level of sainthood, as Pope Francis has recently announced that he will with Martolo, that is a declaration of a very different order.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Canonization is not a declaration that the church believes the person is in heaven. It is a pronounced that she knows he is in heaven. It carries divine certainty because it is an act of papal infallibility. The Pope cannot err when he canonizes, and no one can ever be uncanonized. This is possible because of the authority with which the Pope is invested as the successor of St. Peter,
Starting point is 00:40:14 an authority described in Matthew chapter 16, verse 18. Whatever you bind on earth, I will bind. in heaven. To be clear, when a Pope canonizes, he is not making that person a saint. Rather, he is saying to the church and to the world, look, there is enough evidence that we can be certain that this person is among the saints in heaven. Your voice, your voice, I expletive, hate your voice. Disgusting old woman. Peace of old rotting excrement.
Starting point is 00:41:09 No, no. Exorcizamu's dead. In nominally, batteries, a feeling, a spiritu santi. Leave this child of God, Mosas. You are defeated by the one who conquered death and overthrew your kingdom. yield to the one God and his victorious servant of Bartolo. I curse your sake! In the name of Jesus, leave now.
Starting point is 00:42:07 A demon sometimes leaves without fanfare. He just slips away undramatically, such that one is unsure whether he's still there. For times like that, the exorcist will do testing to ensure he's gone. However, more often than not, there will be some. some sign that the demon has left. The chapel in which the exorcism took place had two large bookcases full of hymn books against the back wall. When the demon left, they tipped forward and landed with an immense crash on the floor.
Starting point is 00:42:41 The anchors that fastened them to the wall were ripped out with him. That friends is the crash you heard. Why did it happen? Obviously, a demon desires to stay inside his host and avoid. the two painful consequences that expulsion brings. The first is that he loses the home he has established within his host, a home that gives him respite from the agony every demon feels in his raw state. Recall Luke 1124, which states that upon leaving someone,
Starting point is 00:43:15 an unclean spirit roams through intense aridity, seeking comfort to end his suffering, but finding none. The second consequence is that in addition to this torture, the demon will have pain from other demons awaiting him. When a demon fails in a possession, he is tortured for that failure when he reaches hell. As I have said many times before, Christ is the real exorcist, and those priests call exorcists are merely his agents. While the Lord did not allow the demon to remain in his host, he did allow him one final complaint. one final pout, the toppling of the bookcases. It was as if to say,
Starting point is 00:44:01 I don't have the power to stay inside my victim, but I do have the power to do this. Screw you. But toppled bookcases aside, the sound of someone taking a breath, now liberated. That's a far sweeter sound, and it is a joy to behold. And just like that, the invader was gone,
Starting point is 00:44:29 and Lillianna was liberated from her demonic hold. Today, she is eternally grateful to God for freeing her and has, we can confidently say, ceased her psychic operations and stopped trying to tell other people their futures. But our regular listeners know that while the battle may be won, the enemy is patient and he will try again. He will try to get his lost real estate. And to ensure that door will never be opened again, Father had to show her how and why that door was opened in the first place. First of all, even before the demon came into her at the seance,
Starting point is 00:45:03 there was a spiritual wound within Liliana. She possessed preacher natural knowledge. If you recall from episode one, Liliana knew that Carmen, Daniela's cousin, had experienced a tragic childhood that was filled with death. She knew this without anyone having told her. Having that sort of hidden knowledge
Starting point is 00:45:25 was not a one-time thing but something she regularly experienced. To be clear, that knowledge was not as clear and distinct as the knowledge she had after the seance. But it was preternatural knowledge nonetheless. Her mother, some of her aunts, and cousins also had that same ability, and even additional ones. For example, one of her aunts had the remarkable ability to find a lost object. She could find something that had been lost for many days and even weeks,
Starting point is 00:46:00 even though it had been searched for by many people. The family did occasionally speak about these abilities. They were handed down stories in the family that one of Lillianna's great-grandmothers practiced witchcraft. The family members who possessed preternatural abilities were all direct biological descendants of her. The family always regarded those abilities with great caution and even suspicion. Although they knew the abilities were bona fide,
Starting point is 00:46:30 They knew they were not normal, and their Christian formation prevented them from being too comfortable with them. Unfortunately for Lilliana, she did not share their caution and was willing to engage in spiritually stupid things like participate in a seance. We've covered generational curses and covenants at length in previous episodes, specifically Dynasty of Death and Live Free. However, as a quick refresher, this controversial topic, the notion of generational covenants, is hinted at in scripture, specifically Deuteronomy chapter 5 where God says, I will visit the sins of the parents upon the children and the grandchildren to the third and fourth generation. We do see numerous references to sins that were committed and the lasting consequences it can have on the generational line. And for those about to say, well, what about in the New Testament? Remember the disciples do inquire
Starting point is 00:47:23 of Jesus about a blind man in John chapter 9 asking, who sinned that this man should be born blind? While Jesus corrects their thinking and says in this case that the man's ailment was simply to give God an opportunity to heal and reveal himself, the disciples question hints at a broader reality. To them in ancient Jewish culture, sins of the ancestors could have major effects. Of course, Scripture also says God will not hold the sin against his people. In Ezekiel, chapter 18, verse 20, the prophet writes, The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share in the guilt of the father, and the father will not share in the guilt of the son. So, what are we to make of this?
Starting point is 00:48:02 While the topic certainly inspires fiery debate at times, at the end of the day, most exorcists we have interviewed on this show will say that they deal with generational curses with some regularity. It seems clear that while ancestral sins are not held against us morally, their consequences can at times affect us in profound ways. In fact, look no further than the fall of Adam and Eve. Thanks a lot, guys. Truly, you broke the universe.
Starting point is 00:48:27 Liliana's grandmother practiced witchcraft and a kind of spiritual residue remained in the family that was passed down through the generations. Interestingly, the family members who were the most religious exhibited the least amount of preacher-natural abilities, if any at all. Liliana attributed this to weakness. They can't handle the gifts, she thought. They need religion to keep them out of trouble.
Starting point is 00:48:55 She failed to see that their relationship with God was purifying them of something impure, and so she never shared their caution towards the preacher-natural abilities. This purification showed itself in two ways. One, as family members got older and embraced their faith more and more, their abilities reduced and, in many cases, completely disappeared. Second, as time went on, fewer and fewer were even born with those abilities. But to fully understand what happened with Liliana, it is also important to note that she had a human wound that kept her from seeing that her new-found abilities were evil.
Starting point is 00:49:39 She was shy and timid and found it difficult to make friends. The occult abilities gave her a confidence and a boldness that she had never previously possessed. This is yet another fine example of how the devil takes stock of everything about your character and uses that information to concoct an effective plan to take you down. If we don't purify ourselves with goodness and truth, we can be sitting ducks without protection against that plan. This is also why I am so much an advocate for therapy.
Starting point is 00:50:16 All humans carry wounds. The devil and his minions congregate around those wounds, like rats congregate around garbage. We must discard the garbage, clean out the mass and give evil no place to incubate. Therapy can greatly help in this. Friend, hear me on this. As one who has prayed and done deliverance ministry for many years,
Starting point is 00:50:44 if you have a traumatic wound, if you're holding a grudge, if you're caught in the throes of addiction to something, if you're seeking validation from the wrong people, whatever it is, know that God forgives, and restores, and he wants to restore you. But you need to take the first step. Get rid of the garbage. Now.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Get the help you need to do it. And so Lillianna lived demon-free and happily ever after. We're pleased to report she has friends again. And remember, friends don't let friends conjure dead relatives in their bathroom, or any room, for that matter. If you ask father about the moral of the story, he will say there are a few lessons to draw from this case. First, if someone offers to unleash a gift of yours after a seance to conjure up your dead fiancé,
Starting point is 00:51:36 say no. But more importantly, take inventory of your own wounds and desires. Ask God to show you if there are any open doors. We're all vulnerable. We all live in a broken world that has hurt us, and we probably have heard others. But God is slowly and assuredly knitting all things back together. He is reconciling us back to him and to others. We would do well to remember the Apostle Peter, who strongly admonishes the early church in his first letter, chapter 5, verse 8. Be sober-minded, be alert. Our enemy the devil roams around like a lion looking for someone to devour. This is not to frighten.
Starting point is 00:52:10 It is to remind us to stay vigilant. Because the best part is, if we stand firm, if we resist the devil, then he shall indeed flee from us. And on that, it's time for us to flee from you, because we got more stories to get to. And if you're thinking about hiring Maricio, the occultist, for your next gathering, may we just suggest balloon animals instead. At least then, if there are voice changes, it's from helium and not demons.
