After my brother passed, the only thing that got me through it, was just helping people. So most of you, most people don't know this. So I had got a, for his life insurance, he made me the beneficiary,

and I got 75 grand, 75 grand, right? I hated having that money. Wow. Hated it. Why? Because like, every time I look at my bank account and I saw 75 grand, I was just like, this sucks.

Yeah, yeah, it really, it really, it really, it reminded me of my brother and the way I got that money. And then I talked to myself, I was like, you know what? I can get 75 grand again, but I can't get my brother back. So what I did, anytime, just like, anytime someone said anything about needing help with something, I just did that.

Wow. I just gave people, that's what I did. Wow. I just did that. Wow. I just gave people that. That's what I did. Wow. And I lost it. And I pretty much got rid of all that money. So people think I'm crazy. I don't think it's crazy at all.

And I'm not saying you do, but some people might think it's like, it doesn't surprise me because that's the kind of person you are. But that was the thing that helped me. You know, that was the only way I was able to like, that's amazing. Able to pick was the only way I was able to like, that's amazing. Able to pick myself back up again, because I started to, it almost in the sense helps you drop this kind of,

it's a sense of ego. The ego in the sense of, yes, I was grieving, but also I was me, me, me, me, me, me. Does that make sense? Well, you're speaking with a lot of wisdom right now. Emma, yes. I'm like a whole new Brian Keller. Well, maybe more than that, you know,

I think that what you just said sounds simple but very profound. And what you said is that by giving, you know, what got you out of it is giving to other people, taking care of other people. And I think that's profound. And I think it's also got religious connotations and I think that it's kind of what a lot of religions talk about.

But you know the way you're talking is, I mean you just, that's a leap of faith dude. That's 75% is a lot of fucking money. A lot of fucking, to a valet. I mean you were a valet. And then it was a lot of money. And yet you spent it helping people. Just anybody. Isn't it weird how it empowered you?

I'm trying to figure out what exactly what it was, because I feel like it was very organic, but I was able to take the lesson from it,

because I thought back on it, I was like, man, I was like, what was that? And then I started to realize, lesson from it, because I thought back on it. I was like, man, I was like, what was that? And then I started to realize, I was like, oh, I was helping other people and watching these other people, I guess, be happy in a sense that, and I was like, oh, I, and then I started to realize, oh, I was like, oh, I, I made you happy. I made you feel good about,

yeah, the zen, the zen, the zen, the zen, very much so, but you know, the other quality you have that I think you feel good about... Yeah, you know what? Does that make sense? Very much so, but you know the other quality you have that I think has to be talked about is, when you tell me you spent 75 grand, that story, most people, if that most people said I did that, I would go, I'd go like this, and my head, I'd go, 15 grand.

You know what I mean? Like in my head, I go, not really, but I like the story. I believe 100% of everything you send. I believe 100% of everything you say all the time, because that's your gift too. It's like, you just don't lie, you don't bullshit. What else I like about you?

This is the other thing since it our last day. You and I pretend to box and you ask me questions about boxing. And then I do this thing and you go, oh, what the fuck? You're a much better athlete. But yeah, from the most part, lions are, are they running up? We're probably driving fans crazy right now. They're like fucking a pack,

Because the lions are going to kill all your other animals. And a lot of it is just reflective over the years of things that I've gone through, and I've taken these traumatic things and made them just goofy, because I've learned to be okay with all of it. You know what I mean? So to talk about it, the way that I am able to talk about it is so fucking dope.

Like that's, that's of me, is a fucking... Is it a show special? Who? Are you gonna do a show special? Not yet, I wanna headline, like I wanna like a consistent, strong, headlining tour before I just... I can take your fucking...

I have no reason to put one out right now. I always say that I want it to be... Why, what's the rush in a special? Take your fucking time. I wanted to be something obviously that I'm really proud of because I'm very critical myself. I've been recording my sets and I've been watching back and just to be able to go,

But they started applying this thing where they film comedians sets, especially comedians that are upcoming that are really good, that no one may really know about, but they're really good, and it's like, hey, let's give them a chance. It's like kind of like what, late night. Yeah. You know how late night was the thing, and if you got on late night, it was like, hey, let's give him a chance. It's like kind of like what, late night. Yeah.

You got two shots So you kind of cut it You know go with your your best but even seeing, I love that I actually did it, and I didn't wanna do it at first. I didn't wanna film, I said, I'm like, man, I wanna put something out there that's like, it's like, you know what, actually do this.

It's eight minutes in comparison to what you're gonna do in a headlining set. So eight minutes is like, just put it out there. A lot of the jokes that I did, our jokes are all continue to do because I had to condense them to fit the eight minutes. But it was a bit... Did you get worried about what you're gonna do next? Do you get worried about the next hour?

Do you ever have that anxiety? No, because I'm still building an hour hour. That's the second video is the, look at me just being big on stage and comfortable and smiling at shit. I was like, I could stretch to a 45, but I was like, I really want to get at least a solid 45 to where I, you know, comfortable. But obviously, you know, if the offers are coming in, you know, you know, do you consider yourself an intelligent person? Honestly, be honest. In the sense, I don't know a lot of shit. That's not what I ask.

I know a lot. That has nothing to do with intelligence. Yeah, absolutely. That's fair. It has zero. That's like, I know a lot of shit. And it means, it just means I had more stuff put in my ear. Well, that's what I'm saying.

You know, so I don't want to disrespect the fact that I look up to them. You know, I want to do that justice. It's like if I look up to these people, I kind of have to deliver this thing. Evertail, if that makes any sense. Evertail, when I sat down with Patrice and Neil, the only time I really actually spent time with him,

I was with Doug David off. Came, remember came there. We might have been at the comedy seller I don't know and he started talking about Relationships and women and and equate with karate and they show you their karate. You show you show them your karate Uh-huh and now I'm I didn't know I know he is, but I also came up with him so yeah Yeah, I'd I'd perform with him in New York, but I didn't, you know, and, because his fame came almost after, you know, and I was just listening to him. And I was probably in my 40s and I went,

I looked at double and this shit is heavy. And, the man drops a heavy truth. It drops a heavy truth. I don't remember this, this a lot of the stuff I do remember a lot of stuff He said but it was so fucking profound profound and and so metaphorical Yeah, so fucking good and I was like this dude's just telling me this right now because I brought something up And he's dropping this kind of wisdom. Mm-hmm. It's like this should be a fucking TED talk. Yeah, it should be a I don't want to whiz them. Like this should be a fucking TED talk. Yeah.

It should be a TED talk. I was crazy about the trees that people don't realize because I watch people try to do what he did. But there was a level of intelligence within himself that he understood. And I think that's why he was able to deliver what he was able to deliver on stage. And I don't think a lot of people

are really tapped in with themselves that strongly to be able to do what he was able to deliver on stage. And I don't think a lot of people are really tapped in with themselves that strongly to be able to do what he does. That's why I watch some of you people try to do it. And I'm like, oh, you're not, you're just trying to say it because Patrice would say it. And you're, but you're not tapped in with yourself, you know, emotionally or anything like that.

And he was. He could, that's why he would say the things he would say. And he said something that I'll never get. He goes, he goes, man, he goes, if I'm not honest with myself, he goes, I don't wanna walk. I don't wanna, I don't wanna go do anything. He goes, I have to be honest.

It's like that thing where Tim Robbins one time, I don't know if you know he is, but he did this movie called Dead Man Walking with Sean Penn. And he had any veterans in the music, spring scene, do the music, do the music. Do you have Sean Penn walking? The Dead Man Walking, the soundtrack is fucking amazing. Oh, you gotta see that movie.

Oh, Tim Robbins, OG. Yeah, OG, a bad motherfucker. But this, Sean Penn, one of Sean Penn in his best, like, well, like, he won an Oscar, I think. Oh, shit. And that's a good soundtrack, but I never forgot that. And I thought to myself, as a comic, I'm using a lot of tricks and hooks, you know, but You want to tell a story? Yeah, yeah, I mean you want to say something anyway

Exactly and that's what I'm that's what I've when it comes to like doing a special. Yeah, I'm like I got it I got to say something yeah because I watch so many of them and Patrice elephant in a room is Probably my top my number one. I gotta to see it. I gotta watch it. Great, great special. But from start to finish, he is saying something. And he does this thing that's so unique. Well, I describe it as this, the way he sets up his jokes.

Because I noticed I was like, okay, yeah. As comedians, we already know the punch line. The audience doesn't. We already know the punch line, you know. So it takes people through these walks. Let's take it through a park, you know. Let's take it, you know, do this nice little park. You know, you'll see some nice things in the park.

And then when the punch line comes, all of a sudden you're at this amusement park. You're at this better thing. And like, he was really good at walking people to this punchline. Because he already knew it, they don't know it. But the way he would walk people to it was fucking amazing.

And I appreciated that, I appreciate that about him. It's crap. It's like, oh, such a, such a fucking craft. And I don't even know how much he even realized it. You know, I don't know. You know, I've listened to quite a few of his interviews, but he could just go. And like you said, everything was so profound,

but that special elephant in the room, I'm telling you, from start to finish, also when I watch a special. Can you look up for Tristan Neal, and did he go to college? I don't think so. I think he was a reader though. He did a lot of reading.

So this woman had a strong understanding of the significance of that name in one way or another, which means she was reading and reaching outside of herself.

It wasn't all about her, okay? And when she raised that boy alone, or maybe with son, I promised you that that value system, that understanding of who you are and your responsibility as a black man in America because Malcolm X and Pitches Ramumba, two people that were assassinated for their stand, for their belief, for their philosophy and for their courage.

They were assassinated by a power structure, most likely a white power structure that had different ideas. That was not lost on that woman. No. And then, they speak about that in the dog. Okay. And she gave him a book.

And if you didn't grow up reading, he grew up understanding. So like, when people call me white, it's like, hey, I can't go back and look at old white people and be like, yeah, that's my fucking house. That's my cousin.
