Starting point is 00:00:00 Yes, we did. Cause we back at it again. It's the fighter and the kid. This is really the fighter and the kid. Well, we just were, I was just giving Ryan Williams here a history in, in linguistics. It took all the energy out of the room. It took the energy out of my, my body.
Starting point is 00:00:15 And I was like, I'm bored with this story. I'm giving him a history lesson and I just don't feel like going in there. I looked over and he was like this. Yeah. Yeah. Because he jumps motorcycles and does backflips close bikes bikes bikes bikes bikes well but the thing is like you do this crazy shit with bikes and like everything else must be a bore and by
Starting point is 00:00:40 the way it's funny how I pictured when I saw your stunt at first, when you did this crazy thing, I was like, that's a motorcycle. Oh yeah. But it's a bike. You saw those motorcycles? It may as well be. Well no, that's why you drive like a electric car. But he's so, because look at how high he is. Like it's crazy dude.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Yeah, you're not a motorcycle though, right? I know that. You know that. But in my mind it was a motorcycle. Wow. Alright. Maybe later. Maybe I'll get on the motorcycle after I push a pedal. You never had a thing for bike. No, I've been around Travis Pastrana
Starting point is 00:01:07 I went to his house and I did a backflip on a motorcycle But that's just like a given when you go to his house I stick to the BMX these guys on moto like I can crash 30 times in one day They can't like if they crash once they're like, I'm out for six months. My legs are broke. I broke my neck That's next week because they're higher? What is it? Yeah, it's to do with that. And then the motorcycle is so heavy that if it lands on you or it just,
Starting point is 00:01:30 you almost hold more velocity. Like it'll fling you into the ground. So like if you land on a motorcycle and it tips and it throws you with its weight to the ground, it's kind of like if a bigger person slammed you, it's going to hurt more. Is there, because of that risk, is there more money in motocross opposed to just regular bikes? I'd say, it's going to hurt more. Is there, because of that risk, is there more money in motocross opposed to just regular
Starting point is 00:01:46 bikes? I'd say, it's hard to say. The thing with motorbikes, I mean, supercross, yeah. Supercross is huge. Lots of money in that. But obviously, in freestyle, there's not a lot of, like there is a fair bit of riders, but not a lot because it's so expensive to get into. Most guys are going to do supercross before start like doing tricks, which is more dangerous like the big air and all that stuff at the start
Starting point is 00:02:09 Right. Yeah, so I'm sure there's big money in both But at the top of BMX is also good money. So it depends and Travis is a freak, huh? I heard they say like him he was jumping on a plane. They're doing his heart rate and just doesn't it just doesn't raise up Oh, yeah, I'd like an outlier I'd like to see my heart rate when I'm riding, obviously certain things like when I do X Games this weekend, my heart rate will probably be raised, but probably not as much as maybe you think. And I don't know, it depends if I'm doing something new and I'm like, it's, it's in the realm of just like, I've only done it in my mind and now I'm going to try and bring
Starting point is 00:02:42 it to real life. That's when my heart rate will go up. I think two out of X games, it's like a competition. So I assume, you know, like that blood's flowing. It's competition. What is it everyday life like for you? In other words, are you a junkie? So the juice... no, in other words... Straight to the point. If I'm not performing, like if I can't do stand up for a long time, I get a little bit weird. Yeah. And I, like somebody said to me, the guy who used to run the company store, Tommy, said,
Starting point is 00:03:08 you're one of those guys, if you don't perform, you die. You know, that's dramatic, but in a way I do. Like, do you, I always wonder though, you're so extreme with the shit you do. Is everything boring except for that? How does it work? Yeah, kind of, because I feel like every day, what you said, I always have to ride.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Like if I don't ride for a week, I start to kind of feel a bit depressed almost, because I kind of get that adrenaline rush. Yeah, exactly. So, and then in saying what you said, like I go to a, like on a roller coaster, I'm like, oh yeah, it's pretty crazy. Like I get still, I'm like, whoa,
Starting point is 00:03:41 but I'm like, I'm also strapped in and probably not going to die. Yeah. So I feel like whenever I'm on my block, but I'm like, I'm also strapped in and probably not gonna die. So I feel like whenever I'm on my block, it's kind of like I'm on a roller coaster that I'm in control of, but I'm not strapped in. Right. So it's good and I feel comfortable doing it because I've been doing it for 20 years.
Starting point is 00:03:57 But yeah, I don't know. Every day I go out there and I just, I'm doing tricks that should get me like really scared. And I do try to do things that scare me obviously new tricks that I've never done before You're so insane Who learns how to do that? It's so crazy. You said you've been doing 20 years. Yeah, how old are you? I'm 30 so you started when you're 10
Starting point is 00:04:22 Yeah, when you got on there you're like this is it man. Yeah, you know what? I actually started because I watched X games There was like this X games movie called ultimate X and I was like, whoa, this is crazy It was like Travis Pastrana and all the guys at X games like just doing crazy stuff action sports So then I was like, what do I have in my garage and all I had was roll blades And so then I was like, I think I started rolling when I was eight So then I just grabbed these roll blades, like not good roll blades, roll blades that you just go
Starting point is 00:04:49 to the roller joint and you're like, ooh, and you fall on your ass a hundred times. Yeah, yeah, like that. So then I was just down the skate park. This just like little kid down the skate park. I was only one roll blade. That's cool. Because like not many people roll blade
Starting point is 00:05:02 around where I lived. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm saying in America, that was like a thing.
Starting point is 00:05:11 And then we get bullied right quick. You can get bullied. I had rollerblades. Like KCR producer, like obviously not at your level, like high level rollerblader. I wasn't on level at eight either. But yeah, but like, there was a thing where like, like especially on this beach, like if you're on rollerblades, we're like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:27 It became cool. Yeah, if you're wearing glitter and hot shorts, which is what usually goes with, but it was the only thing you had. So then you had the rollerblades and then you started learning. So for four years I was rollerblading, but I was the only kid at the skatepark on rollerblades. And then like the BMXs and then their scooters, scooters kind of come came into the picture and they were all doing like flips and like spins and I was like, oh this is how you roll, I'm just gonna do that on my roller blades, like flips and spins.
Starting point is 00:05:51 And then I went to my first roller blade contest and everyone was like grinding like 30 feet like on these rails just like, I'm like, I don't know how to grind, I don't even know how to flip. I'm trying to flip. I don't know how to flip. What is a grind, I'm an idiot.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Grind is like where you jump on a rail, like a hand rail in the street, and you like slide down it. Like you skate on it. That's where you hit your balls. You see guys- If you stuff up. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Not at his level, yeah. So then I was like, well, I'm like, Rollerblading way different to everyone else. But then all my mates rode scooters. So then I was like, I'm gonna try and ride a scooter sometimes, but I didn't have my own. And when I went to the skate park, I didn't bring shoes because I was on my roll blades
Starting point is 00:06:27 So I'd borrow my mates shoes and scooter to just ride with them and then eventually I was like, you know I'm gonna get my own scooter and bring my own shoes and then What point did you start entering like competitions what age Cuz it's my Mike the reason I'm curious is like, there's no route to this. It's cause it's similar to like UFC, where when you start people are like, all right man, good luck. Like subculture, like if, yeah, it's a subculture,
Starting point is 00:06:52 like kind of niche. So it's like, if you're playing football or baseball, it's like, all right, you play little league. Then you get good, you go to high school, then you get recruited, then you go to college or you get drafted, then you go to the pros. With what you're doing with fighting, it's like, all right, man, good luck.
Starting point is 00:07:07 You know? Yeah, and I mean, it was always just having fun, to be honest. It was never like, oh, where am I gonna take this? Especially in scootering, because that's scootering is what got me into the limelight. It's what got me into Nitro Circus originally.
Starting point is 00:07:20 That's how we found you. Can you imagine? I'm sorry, but can you imagine if your kid was like, I'm scootering? You'd be like, Hey, listen, not this day and age. I know. You're not going to go anywhere. What do you mean? Scootering. Yeah. Get the fuck inside and get, you know, but even when I guess what I know, but now like if your kid says, Oh dad, I'm into this, it's hard to like hate on them. Like it's back in the day, like when I play video games, my dad's like, you're going to be a loser.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Get outside, go play football, go play basketball. He'd be right 99 times out of a hundred. Now if I tell my kid, hey man, get out there, you're going to be a loser. He's like, hey bitch, do you know who Ninja is, whatever? He makes 30 million a year, you dumbass. I'm like, all right, keep playing. But it is still very rare to get to where you've gotten. It just is.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm proud that you can change someone's mind. I'm proud to be a person that has kind of shown a path that you can get into the limelight and you can make a living from it. That's what I do for a living. That's what bought me my houses is riding a scooter. And when I first started riding scooter,
Starting point is 00:08:19 it was like just having fun. And there was no path, oh, yeah, this is what you have to do. And then you can make it. It's just, yeah, especially when I started. And it's awesome that people see that, but a lot goes into it still. Like even though the path there and you can see what path I took, you have to capitalize on opportunities that present themselves. And that's kind of where I got my success from was just, I got the opportunity to do Nitro Circus. Then the first show I landed like a double front flip on scooter, which had never been done before, is my first show.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Double front flip. That goes viral, yeah. Yeah, and then Nitro Circus is like, well, this kid's epic, like you're on. And then I kept doing the shows and in the shows, they were even like, this guy, we get the scooter kids at the skate park, we want them out of our skate park, let's send him down, hopefully he crashes. And I was like, I don't care what you say,
Starting point is 00:09:06 I'm on Nitro Circus, let's go. And I just always had a positive attitude and just did my best. And then eventually it turned into, here's Ryan Williams, one of the stars of Nitro Circus, scooter rider and BMX rider. So like turn. Wait, so you went BMX and scooter at the same time?
Starting point is 00:09:21 Yeah, yeah. So I, well, I started really on scooter, but I rode BMX as well. I was kind of the kid that would just do anything that was fun. Yeah. So I didn't never restricted myself. And that's kind of been my superpower in,
Starting point is 00:09:32 I feel like in BMX is that I haven't restricted myself to like, oh, these are BMX tricks. These are scooter tricks. I was always just like, what tricks would work on a BMX bike. Does it have wheels? Let's go. Yeah. It's an athletic fucking thing too. You're always on a bike. You would work on a BMX bike. Does it have wheels? Let's go. Yeah. It's an athletic fucking thing too.
Starting point is 00:09:46 You're always on a bike. You're always on a scooter like this doing back flips, doing front flips. But I always think that your mindset is you seem to be a very competitive person because you're also the first person to do that. Throw the bike forward and do a back flip. That's like nuts. It's like Tony Hawk's. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Like how the fuck did you, did you were like, I'm going to wonder if this is possible. Is that how it, but then when he does it, then the, the young kids go, that's possible. It's like the guy that broke whatever the first four minute mile, then 30 people. Yeah. Or Tony Hawk, like Tony Hawk was saying he went home and he's cause kids are into all this stuff
Starting point is 00:10:19 now, like skateboard and all that and bike ride and all that. And he said he went home there watching this trick and he walked in and was like, oh, I was the first person to do that. They're like, shut up. And then he was like, no, seriously, I was the first person to do that.
Starting point is 00:10:30 And then he said he looked and the guy was doing it and then adding onto it. He's like, holy, that's where it's at now. Cause people like that's possible and then just take it to another level. That's been my favorite thing probably in action sports is just kind of creating a trick that no one would think of and that's what I kind of try to do in scootering and then I try
Starting point is 00:10:48 to do it in BMX. So for an example, like I do this trick on scooter, it's called a nothing front scooter flip. It's like where I throw the scooter, it does a front flip while I just stand there and like watch it flip around and then I grab back on. Can we see that please? But as soon as I did it, I knew straight away I can do this on BMX because I was riding BMX at the same time. I'm like, I can do I knew straight away, I can do this on BMX, because I was riding BMX at the same time.
Starting point is 00:11:06 I'm like, I can do this on scooter, but I can do this on BMX, and no one's ever done this before. I bet you I can do it. And then, sure enough, the first time I got to ride the big ramp again, Nitro Circus, I did it, and now- How many times, so you think of that idea,
Starting point is 00:11:20 you have a setup, I assume, in your backyard, and you start practicing it? Yeah, but then when I did create that trick, I mean, I've only had my compound for four years. So for the past four years, it's been like on overdrive. Like I think of a trick, I go to sleep thinking of a trick, wake up in the morning, I can try it. But before that, it was like, I would just write down
Starting point is 00:11:38 these tricks on my phone, in my notes. This is what I got to try when I get to Nitro Circus. This is what I got to try when I get to Travis Pastrana's house, because that was the only facility I had to do it Circus is what I got to try when I get to Travis Astrana's house because That's that was the only facility I had to do it. So anyway, I do this nothing front bike flip and this was like 10 years ago and now Three or four years ago when they had the Olympics the guy that won the gold medal Logan Martin, he's an Australian He did that trick in his run and won a gold medal. That's so cool. And then but
Starting point is 00:12:03 Yeah, and now like there's 50 people that can do it on BMX. That's how it goes. And it's just crazy that 10 years ago, no one had even thought to, they were like, they just didn't try it. They thought it was possible, yeah. It wasn't like- So you're sitting around thinking about things today.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Always, and that's what I always do because you see it, the proof is in the pudding. I did the first 540 flare on Scooter, and then now that 1, thousand kids can do it, 12 year olds can do it. And it's just weird that if I just had my mind 10 years ago, like this, there's no difference. I feel like in my body, I feel like when I was,
Starting point is 00:12:37 well, let's say 10 years ago, yeah. When I was 20, there's no really difference to my physical ability. If I just had my mind 10 years ago and I knew these tricks were possible, I could have just like, imagine what you could have done. If you could, yeah. And then that's why I think like now I can just
Starting point is 00:12:51 push action sports as a whole, because whatever I do now, the younger generation's like, this is possible. So that's a personality. And that's what's a bummer with fighting too, because it's like, there's guys that get a certain age, they have so much experience and they, they're black belt and everything.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Yeah. And they have all the experience, but they're older. And so it goes away where if you could just figure out a way to download that data and put it into a 24 year old, you're gonna dominate the world. You have the best fighters of all time. Let's take a little break. You are coffee freaks. I'm a coffee freak, dude.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Me too. And then Trade Coffee sent a big old, remember you're like, where are you going with that? It was a big old bag of coffee. Oh, that big bag? You son of a bitch. You took it home. I thought about that.
Starting point is 00:13:31 I was like, where's he going with that big old colorful bag of coffee? Yeah. Where'd you get that? Delicious. I got it from Trade Coffee. And listen. That's what it was.
Starting point is 00:13:37 If you're a coffee connoisseur like me and Brian, and you like tasty coffee at home, dude, they give you the greatest coffee ever. Small batches. This is the best small batch specialty roasters in the US. Yep. Trade curates a wide variety of coffees from the best small batch specialty roasters in the US of A. They personalize it to what you like.
Starting point is 00:13:58 I like a dark roast, hints of cocoa, so it's roasted to your order and then it ships within 20, 48 hours. Oh, it's tasty, dude. With trade, you'll discover the best coffee, hot or iced. I prefer hot. Dark roasted decaf. Don't do decaf. Expressos to cold brew. Trade also makes a great gift.
Starting point is 00:14:13 If you've got that coffee loving your life, can't go wrong with better coffee. Give trade a try and see how you can make a better coffee right from your crib. Did you ask for like chocolatey? That's right. Nuts and chocolate. That's what I like. Dark. Keep your, keep your lemony floral things out of my, out of my cup. Oh, get out of here.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Man. I hate that stuff. It's all sour. I like, I like lemonade. Yeah, bro. No, I like, I like a roast. I like it dark. There you go.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Dark like the night. Right. And right now they're giving you guys 30% off your first order. When you visit drinktrade.com slash fighter and subscribe that's drinktrade.com slash fighters 30% off your subscription order. you visit drinktrade.com slash fighter and subscribe. That's drinktrade.com slash fighter, 30% off your subscription order. Drinktrade? Drinktrade?
Starting point is 00:14:48 That's right, drinktrade.com slash fighter. So singing is that way, you know, now singing. Juilliard's the most prestigious performing arts school in the world. Tupac went there. It's in New York, yeah, everybody, Tupac, Rob Williams, everybody went there. And it used to be that, you know, when you went there
Starting point is 00:15:07 to sing, you had to be technically proficient to even get in. And the admissions dean was saying, literally every kid that shows up is singing on a level that 15 years ago, we would have been like, you're too good for us. They're all so technically proficient that they don't know who to go with. They're like, everybody's amazing. Everybody's funny.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Give us the Asian, yeah. Hey, hey man, why do you gotta make it about Raffy's? Yeah, it goes in New York, man. When you practice this stuff, you practice into an airbag? Yeah, so at my house, like for the past four years, obviously, I just invested in myself. I spent like 100 grand or something to build out,
Starting point is 00:15:44 I spent a lot more money on the land, but that's just different, that's just an investment. But I spent a hundred thousand dollars on like airbags, this bag junk company make these blow up airbags. Not only, you can see it, I've clicked that one, yeah. This is probably one of my hardest tricks I've ever done on this. So you can see it's like air,
Starting point is 00:16:03 and then it's got like truck lining over it. So it's like, yeah, it's like this plastic resi, it does hurt, and you can see it's like air and then it's got like truck lining over it. It still hurts. Yeah, it's like this plastic resi. It does hurt and you can break your face. It does hurt. You can smash your teeth out. You can do whatever still. You can really hurt yourself. Sometimes it's worse because people come to my house and they think, whoa, like it must be able to do this easy and then they'll just, it'll be not good. So I'll tell you a story. For two years, for two years I had this facility and I
Starting point is 00:16:25 like learned all these tricks. I'm like smashing out all these things and then we're like Nitro Circus came to me. They're like, can we do a qualifying event for this massive Nitro World Games competition, which was huge. And I was like, yeah, sure. Like bring everyone out. I haven't had an ambulance. I've never had an ambulance called to my land. For two years I've had it. And it's, you know, we go crazy still, but they get there and it's two days and over two days, there's four ambulances that have to come to my land. It's just, and it's just because like you see it and you feel like rushed. Whereas if you calculated, that's when you can kind of get through control. But before you had those airbags, how did you practice? In my mind, in my mind.
Starting point is 00:17:05 And then it's like, big cojones. It's like big balls. It's like a, Take your pants off. Big dick. Sorry. She hit nose. My fiance knows.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Anyway, you can close your eyes. Jump. Big dick. It's actually running drugs on nitrates too, because we kind of all know. It's like the gym showers everyone kind of knows. Chris Haffey, shout out to Chris Haffey and me. We haven't ever gone tip to tip. You guys are doing well.
Starting point is 00:17:35 You got to strap it to your leg. I understand otherwise. I think that's what stops me. This thing does the flips. That's how it stops me flipping. Counting weight. But anyway, what I was gonna say is you can kinda like close your eyes and you can like write your name
Starting point is 00:17:47 on a piece of paper, right? And you look, oh, it's pretty much correct, you know? And so what I can do is I can close my eyes, I can ride my bike in my head, cause I have a 20 year simulator that has just been updated like over and over over the- So many reps. Every time I ride, it's the AI simulator is just updated.
Starting point is 00:18:05 So it gets better and better. And it's been tested and it's failed and it's confirmed how I thought. So I'll run a trick through my mind. Say if I think of a new trick, I'll run it through my mind and I can almost do it, 90% of it in my head. And I can say, okay, at this point, 20% through the trick, I'm going to probably see this. This is where I'm going to see. And then 80% through the trick, I'm gonna probably see this, this is where I'm gonna see. And then 80% through the trick, I'm gonna see this.
Starting point is 00:18:27 And then when I do the trick in real life, if I don't see what I thought I was gonna see, that's when I'm like, okay, eject mode, save myself. And then like, I'm a professional crasher at the same time as being a freshman. You have to be. What is the, because I did a movie where I said I'll do my own stunt.
Starting point is 00:18:43 It was this movie, Ride Along, with Kevin Hart. And I don't know if you ever heard of him. He's an actor. So anyway, I'm playing a bad guy. You were the lead in that movie? I played the bad guy. Be cool, dude. I saw the movie.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Yeah, I played one of the bad guys. You were on the poster? Played one of the bad guys, dude. It was me and Johnny Legs. Be cool. Don't piss at my parade. Fuck. Anyway, so I had to get shot.
Starting point is 00:19:09 In the beginning they think I die, but I end up being, you know, I'm okay. So I was wearing a, but in the beginning I get shot and I go flying back. And I go, I got this. I'll do this. And this time man, like this, he goes, he's like, you do? Another actor, another loser with a big ego. I go, yeah, yeah, I got it. And he's looking at me like he can tell.
Starting point is 00:19:28 He's like, this guy's an actor, not an athlete. He's like, what are you doing? Yeah, so Joker Boy goes like, I get shot, what do I do? I go back and I brace myself with my hands. I almost broke my wrist. And I was like, ah, but I'm not, you know, I'm like, ah, fuck, I got it. And he goes, hey, come here for a second.
Starting point is 00:19:45 He goes, if you want to do this, you got to learn how to fall the right way. You got to fall this way. And I didn't do it very well then either, so they got me. So I fucked up, yeah, and I, they had to stop and get the stunt man. Because I'm, yeah, wasting time. So you learned how to do all that shit.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Well, actually, you've been crashing since he was 10. Yeah. So what is the main thing? Keep shit. Well, actually you've been crashing since he was 10. Yeah. Yeah What is the main thing keep your arms? What do you know? I don't think there's like a really you're not like a ball up, you know, like ejector and like, you know Like an you know, like you know, like an armadillo like yeah, I'm in danger Your back. I just I just mean like okay. I'm upside down I got a talk more to get to my butt, you know my feet, you know, like it's not like oh I'm upside down, I gotta tuck more to get to my butt, you know, my feet, you know? It's not like, oh, I'm spinning, okay, as I'm going through the air, I'm like, okay,
Starting point is 00:20:30 this is too slow, I need to tuck in. Oh, this is too fast, I need to tuck out. Because you're in tune with it and he has 10,000 hours. Yes. So you know exactly when it's off-hand. You have aerial awareness. And to recalibrate and know. I just said this on my,
Starting point is 00:20:43 when I put on my birthday pose because I turned 30, I I said I've never had a surgery in my life what knock on wood brother what I know but I've said it a lot for the past five years I'm like well fuck your black you want you want nicotine but no surgery no surgeries I've like I smashed my teeth out but then I got new one so it wasn't too bad and then like I separate my shoulder and then I've just had like fractures but never no surgeries. Wow. So when you were, I'm just curious how it works on your 10 and then your parents are like you're always on these fucking scooters and rollerblades.
Starting point is 00:21:15 And then there was a competition, like how do you even find a competition? You know what I'm saying? Where's the scooter competition? First of all, hold on, broken home? Broken home? Yeah. Oh yeah, you mean my mom and dad aren't together? Yep. Is that a broken home? That's what it takes.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Well divorce? Sure, you gotta have some family trauma. You didn't have a dad? No, I haven't. Oh, okay. I have a dad, but they never meet together. It's my joke, but I'm serious. Like comics, fighters,
Starting point is 00:21:42 a lot of special forces guys. I would imagine BMX guys, stuntmen I know, a lot of special forces guys. I would imagine BMX guys, stuntmen I know, you gotta have a little fucked up stuff that goes on when you're growing up. Maybe, or you're just a savage. Yeah, or you're just addicted to the juice. I've actually thought about it and I feel like maybe when you don't have, you're like,
Starting point is 00:21:58 how about Brian's all molested? Yeah, right? He's all white, no. He's like, junkie? Broken home? Meth, molested? He's all white. No, what? He's like, junkie? Yeah. Broken home? Meth? Blasted? He's all not at all.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Yeah, appropriate questions. Not yet, not yet. Just met him. Just met him. Making white. Just met him. Yeah, right? But listen, this is what we do.
Starting point is 00:22:14 No, I don't want you to get into it if it's like a thing, I'm just saying. But you're growing up, yeah, your family, they're supportive of it? Yeah, so my mom, she was like a, she raced BMX and she was like second best in her state at racing BMX. And then I like raced BMX as well before like the skate park but then there was a skate park next door to the race course.
Starting point is 00:22:36 So then I'd like kind of ride my bike over on the race, the skate park, but she'd be like, get your race park off the fucking skate park. Yeah. Cause it's not built for it. So your mom was a badass. BMX. not built for it. Your mom was a badass. BMX. She's still a badass.
Starting point is 00:22:46 My mom beat me up. She does boxing. She always beats me up in the kitchen. I'm like, man, chill. But then I kick her in the leg. She only boxes. So mom is a badass. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Mom's a badass. So then it wasn't like, she was, she could, especially if she was at that level, she can see it. Like, all right, get her skills. Yeah. But we've got to remember I'm like 12 years old. So it's not like, where is he going to go with this? Like I was just like, I'm having so much fun. And I think maybe by the time I was 15 or 16,
Starting point is 00:23:15 I was like sponsored and getting free trips to America to ride my scooter. And how did that happen? Like my question, how did they see you on the scooters get sponsored at 15, 16? Yeah, it's like through you. Like I made a YouTube video. You get like a sponsor me, you know, like a sponsor me tape.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Like it's the same as kind of skateboarding. I didn't even have internet either when I was growing up. So I had to go to like my mate's house and I had all this footage. I'm like, yes, let's make this look. We just slam it all together and then add a random song from iTunes and just like put it on YouTube. And then I guess like people saw that and I got like some scooter parts for free.
Starting point is 00:23:49 And then by the time Nitro Circus came around, I was 17 and I'd already been sponsored on scooter and got paid to like, not lots of money, but like decent for like a teenager. And I've done trips and I just had really good videos on YouTube and Nitro Circus is like, hey, we already had the scooter rider on tour, but we want more.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Cause like people are starting to enjoy these scooter tricks. And they were like, oh yeah, who they're in Australia. And they're like, what, who are the three best scooter riders in Australia that could do something on this ramp? And I was one of them. Your parents probably picked up very quickly that you were very focused and competitive though, right?
Starting point is 00:24:22 Like when you have a kid like that, it's like this kid kid's gonna be fine. Cause I feel like you'd be successful in pretty much anything you did. Just really persistent. I'm almost like crazy in a good way. Like where it's like, I try a trick 10 times and if I try a trick 10 times and I don't land it,
Starting point is 00:24:35 I'm trying a hundred times, 500 times. Yeah, that's a kid who's gonna be successful. Like if I had a kid, you have a kid like that, you're like, this kid's gonna find his way. Also as a parent you don't care. You're just a savage. Yeah, but as a parent you don't care kid like that, you're like, this kid's gonna find his way. You're just born a savage, you're just a savage. Yeah, but as a parent you don't care, as long as they're focused on something. Whatever it is, I don't give a hell what it is.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Whatever it is, if they're into it, dude, run with it. Hell yeah, keep them out of trouble, discipline. And I still, I love school, and I did finish school and got accepted into university, but I just deferred, which is like you just take the year off or something. Because you found your passion. Yeah, and I was doing nitro-ceratosis. That's why you got a color. I'm like, nah, I which is like, you just take the year off or something. Cause you found your passion. Yeah, and I was doing nitro circus. That's why you go to college.
Starting point is 00:25:07 I'm like, no, I'm not. Cause you're the best at what you do. I don't want to be a civil engineer. No. I want to be, I want to try this nitro circus stuff. No, you want to. You go to college to find out what you want to do. You already knew, so it didn't make sense for kids like you.
Starting point is 00:25:17 But then have you ever had a regular job? No, I did like the paper route for maybe a week, but I didn't do it. My mom had to do it. Just the fastest paper route ever. Yeah, right? Just the fastest. I love it, dude.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Nah, yeah, and then I just, I was like, nah, it's all good. And then when did you know that you were gonna be able to make a living doing this? Because early on, I'm sure it's not much, and then eventually you're like, oh shit, I can actually. It was like the night, I think the nitro circus was kind of like where I was like,
Starting point is 00:25:42 wow, I have enough money, so like, I bought my own house when I was 21, my first house when I was 21. That's pretty wild. And I was just probably mainly Nitro Circus doing like nearly 70 shows a year. But is that money from Nitro Circus competition or is that from sponsors?
Starting point is 00:25:56 No, that's just from a show, from doing a Nitro Circus show, and they'll pay me per show, and I do like 70 shows and it'd be a decent amount. And then that's how like I just bought My own yeah bought my own house and then yeah, and then I had like sponsors obviously But I feel like nitrous because was definitely like the number one thing because I was traveling the world doing like we're doing like 20 Show to is and just in in a month doing 20 shows
Starting point is 00:26:19 And are they are they still doing at that rate like that level who owns nitro circuses Dana? He does yeah, I didn't like me see cowboy and nitro circus. Yeah, he owns the you know that yeah No, we're about to get back into it. We got like a big America tour coming up So that's always good and we're going like we're just doing indoor shows the indoor shows like epic That's all we always used to do but Travis is on to us. So it's yeah Travis races the electric cars. Okay. Yeah. And how long, and he's the goat of action sports. How long will you like, how long is that? What kind of longevity do you age out? Yeah. I mean, I'm 30 years old and so I probably, I feel like I'm going to be competitive. I don't know. I'm going to be try be as competitive as I can for, for at least five or more years. But I'm versing like, at X Games this weekend, I'm versing like 21 year old kids that are
Starting point is 00:27:08 like, they're like keen as. And you can see like some of them are so good at riding and they do the craziest tricks, but then they come to the contest and sometimes they can stuff up, but they're going to get more and more experience and they're going to be out and land these crazy tricks every try. And that's going to be out in land these crazy tricks every try and that's going to be hard to compete with. But I just, I do tricks that are really weird and out there. And that's like what I try to aim for. Cause it kind of has a wow factor. Cause you're always thinking of new
Starting point is 00:27:34 shit. Yeah. As a wow factor. So that always keeps me like in the loop. And then is it weird that those young kids, like obviously you're there, you're there Tony Hawk. Yeah. Like you're there GSP and they're competing against you. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you are, right? I mean, you. He's the guy.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Yeah. He's the guy. Yeah. Yeah, I've been still at certain events, like the dirt event that I'm doing this year, I've only done, I only did it for the first time last year and I got silver in it and then I won like best trick. I mean, usually I do the mega rant,
Starting point is 00:28:01 which is like the hugest rant ever. Yeah, it's like a 70 foot jump into a 28 foot quarter pipe. So just the quarter pipes, 28 foot, and then you air 20 foot out of it. But they don't do that anymore because it costs so much to set up. But that used, when I did that event, it would, I would go into that day,
Starting point is 00:28:17 like I could, I'm like ready to die. That's what I felt like. Cause I, yeah, I've like flipped this one time, I back flipped into the roll in, which is like 70 feet off the ground at least, and then like did the rest of my run. And I was like, that day I remember I'm like, I've never done a back flip drop in in my life on BMX,
Starting point is 00:28:35 but this is how I'm gonna do it. So this is fascinating to me because most of these kids are coming up watching guys like you, and then they copy it and they add to it. And you could say the same thing about you, but you're doing innovative things that you're thinking about. So it's a very, very rare and different thing.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Right. And so you're kind of an originator. You're an original thinker, like an a lateral thinker. When you just are, whether, you know, that's, I don't know if that's inherent. Do you remember when you were a kid, do you ever, do you remember doing that in other aspects or was
Starting point is 00:29:04 that a surprise to you? Where you were like, oh, I'm coming up with shit like this. Cause it's, it's wild. I'm sure it's instinctive and it's just the way your brain works, but it's so fucking unique. You know what I think it was at the start, it was like, I was just competitive with my friends. Like, Oh, who's going to be able to do a three 60 spot over this spine. It was with my friend, Harley. I remember this like vividly and he did it. And then I tried, I did it for the rest of the afternoon because he did it and then he did it before me. And I was like, so mad. I was like, I've got to do it too. And I tried it like a hundred times. I'm like, okay, this is what like I was into.
Starting point is 00:29:36 But then I remember I did maybe my first world first, like a trick that no one had ever done before. And it was like, it blew up. Like it was like it blew up like it was like whoa everyone was like this is insane like I can't believe you did doing a trick that no one else has done even like even though I was scootering and it wasn't like a lot of people riding scooters but it was a fair bit and I was able to do a trick that no one else has done it was like this new high that I felt and that's kind of what has inspired me to just always like go okay what hasn't been done what isn't just another like trick like, okay, what hasn't been done? What isn't just another like trick, like another bar spin,
Starting point is 00:30:07 but what's like really crazy like- How can you separate yourself? Yeah, like this bike flip. How can I jump off the bike? It does a front flip while I grab it. Like that's, that's just stands out. Have you seen the thing that he did most recently that people were talking about where he does that,
Starting point is 00:30:20 he pushes the bike forward and does the backflip. Yeah, I've seen it. That one took me over a thousand tries. What? Yeah. Over, it took me a month. What? Took me a month. It took me over 24 hours. 24 hours of compete, um, constant attempting it.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Seriously? Yeah. If you go to the middle one, the middle top one, I... This, this, I saw like, come on, dude. Come on, dude. The problem is, so there's so many movements and you're so blind. So at the start, obviously I don't see the bike. So to do the bike flip initially, Come on dude. The problem is, so there's so many movements and you're so blind. So at the start, obviously I don't see the bike. So to do the bike flip initially, you have to throw it perfectly.
Starting point is 00:30:50 If you throw it too far away, the bike's gonna be too far away. If you throw it too slow, it's not gonna spin around. You throw it too fast. You're not gonna get back onto it. And now I'm doing a back flip. So when I'm doing a back flip, it's changing the trajectory of the bike at the same time.
Starting point is 00:31:02 So now I've got to counteract for my back flip to throw it into the bike. And then now I can't see. So I only know if it's gonna work at the same time. So now I've got to counteract for my back flip to throw it into the bike. And then now I can't see. So I only know if it's gonna work at the very end. Wow. I don't know if it's gonna work. I don't know if it's gonna work. You can get your head on that fucking wheel.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Yeah, and then. And you also don't have a ton of time. No. You gotta move. But I'm jumping that, that's a 13 foot ramp. And then that's a 13 foot takeoff. And then I'm jumping about 30 feet. So it's like.
Starting point is 00:31:23 And you're obviously in amazing shape and you're obviously athletic, but you did that thing at the UFC. You were talking about, yeah. The UFC PI. I went and did the like testing that they do on the UFC fighters and um, yeah, Dana, cause I went and saw Dana and I showed him my newest trick, like the triple back flip 360 that we can't,
Starting point is 00:31:41 we just watched before and he's like, coming to my office. I'm like, all right. And he's like, come into my office. I'm like, all right. And he's like, we're going to fucking test you. He's like, we might have the fucking super athlete here. I'm like, I just got off the flight, like the plane the day before, this is UFC 300. I just got off the plane on jet lag. He's like, we're going to fucking test you.
Starting point is 00:31:57 He's like, get the UFCPI on the phone. And he's like, all right, you're going to do like six hours of testing. And I'm like, I'm like, we might have a fucking super athlete. I'm like, I fucking hope so because you cheer me up and I'm like, I'm like, yep, let's do it. Even though I'm like jet lagged and like come to watch UFC 300. And what did they put you through? They did like, uh, I don't know. They do, they do the brain testing and then they like,
Starting point is 00:32:22 you have the oxygen, the V O two max. And I fucking spewed my yeah, the oxygen, the VO2 max. And I fucking spewed my guts up. The one minute VO2 max, I'm like, I'll just go for a fucking plane. Yeah, no, but I'm like, yeah, yeah. Cause they say that you gotta put it all out on the fucking, and if you tell me that, I'll fucking kill myself doing it. Like, that's one thing in my mind, I was like,
Starting point is 00:32:43 I'm like, yeah, pretend there's a fucking. Your fiance is like, mm-hmm. I'm like, pretend there's a bear behind me and I'm about to die and I'm getting chased on this cross-training bike. I'm like. That's the worst. That aerodyne bike? Yeah, yeah. I thought they set him up with the oxen.
Starting point is 00:32:55 And then I've got this. How long do you do on that? One minute, but like you're warming up, but one minute max. They get you to do your max for six seconds so they know your max. And then there's this the Russian scientists guys like go on Ryan I'm like what is going on and I'm 30. I'm for no 30. I thought I'm halfway He's like you're half. No you're like you're nearly done and I'm like, yeah, and I go extra hot
Starting point is 00:33:19 He's like 20 seconds I'm like going as hard as I can. I'm like, what the fuck? 20 seconds, so long, it's so long. I'm like going as hard as I can. I'm like going this fast. I'm like, anyway, I do that. And I actually did really well. I was like in the above average on the VO2. But the one thing I was really good at
Starting point is 00:33:36 was when the VR was on my face, like tracking my eyes. My eyes is like super smooth. Like, so when I'm moving around, my eyes just are used to tracking. There has to be for you to track bike, you know where you're at. Yeah, that's cool. But my other things, not so much, like my push-up strength,
Starting point is 00:33:52 like you do it on the pressure plates, like that's nothing too crazy. Well, you don't do it. My mind, I feel like my strength is definitely my mind and my persistence. Like you, I will just not give up. If I do that, that trick took me a thousand tries and I'm like, I just wouldn't give up up and I always believe that the next try is it I don't give up
Starting point is 00:34:08 I don't give a crap how bad my last try was I gotta get it fucking next one Is it and I've always had that since I was in school at the skate It's just carried on like at this it's the same when I was on my scooter at the skate park when I was 14 years old I'm like the next tries it and then that was one with that You can't teach it. There's that was when I was- You're born with that. You're born with that. You can't teach it. There's nothing you can do. When you watch surfing, what were you gonna say?
Starting point is 00:34:29 I said, I think that I grew into it more cause I feel like at the skate park, there was a point where I got sponsored and I kind of like got a little bit boycotted from some of my mates that were like, one in particular was like, oh, like if you hang out with him, you're sucking up his ass. Cause I was like the only one that got sponsored. So then in for like, oh, if you hang out with him, you're sucking up his ass.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Because I was the only one that got sponsored. So then for like one year, nearly one year, I was just riding with myself at the skate park in my own mind with my iPod in. So I just learned to challenge myself in my mind. And now I have this crazy confidence in my mind that I can tap into where it's like I can just lock into that and I just tell myself I have confidence in
Starting point is 00:35:11 myself and that's what makes me go out there and do that. Because people always ask, you must be so scared. I'm like, yeah, I am scared. It's a natural thing to be scared. It's good for you. Sign of intelligence. I can lock into the confidence. I've put in the reps.
Starting point is 00:35:24 I know I can do this. And that's just how I go about it. Do you get FOMO when you watch big wave riders and stuff? Is that something you've ever tried? Oh, I don't know. The thing about my sport that I appreciate about surfing is that a wave is always different. It's always different. You never know what to expect.
Starting point is 00:35:43 So I couldn't imagine like going down my, I couldn't imagine dropping in at a skate park blind and then someone just like takes the blindfold off and now I got to do tricks. I'd be like, get fucked. So the thing about my, what I have is like my setup, I have it in my brain locked in. Like I have like a simulation of that ramp
Starting point is 00:36:06 perfectly sculpted in my mind. I know how much air time I get. I know what it feels like. I know the pressure I feel in my hands and my feet when I'm taking off the ramp. So you're always visualizing. 100%. I have to, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Let's take a little break. Let's stop talking some X games. Let's start talking about greatness wins. Well, I wear the, I was wearing all weekend. I was wearing greatness, greatness wins, sweat pants. And my wife said, my wife said your, your booty looks scrumptious and gave me a little goose. It's always popping.
Starting point is 00:36:38 And I'm an old man, dude. Dude, listen, Derek Jeter is part of it. So if you know Derek Jeter, who's pure greatness is rocking this stuff. And style. He came up with this. And handsome. What? And unlike other athletic brandseter's part of it. So if you know Derek Jeter, who's pure greatness is rocking the stuff. And style and handsome. What? And unlike other athletic brands, they prioritize fashion over performance, but it's both man. Greatness wins combines high performance and function with a modern style and fit.

They're great. I love them. So whether you're pumping iron or you're out for the morning jog or hidden the links, greatness wins provides the support and comfort you deserve.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Brian. Well, dude, I, I will say this. I got a package in the mail and I, you know, it's good clothing when you pack it for your trip. I went away and I packed it for my trip. And so, you know, it's good clothing when you pack it for your trip. I went away and I packed it for my trip. And so, you know, it's good. That's what you're packing it. Cause I got a lot of clothes, a lot of clothes and I wanted to wear my cool three quarters zip and my sweats.
Starting point is 00:37:34 So if you're ready to upgrade your athletic wear at greatness wins.com. Right now you use the code fighter, you get 25% off your first order. That's greatness wins where demands of sport meet the signs of fit. Check them out now. That's greatnesswins.com code FIDER. That's the best way to practice. I can do it anywhere I want. I can do it on the plane over here.
Starting point is 00:37:55 I practice and then I just transfer that. So X Games this weekend, it'll be like, it'll be new jumps, but as soon as I jump once through that line or jump a few times through that line, I now have downloaded that. You've downloaded the whole course. And I know the pressure. I know the time in the air. I know the calculations.
Starting point is 00:38:13 I go, okay, this is this amount of time in the air. If I need to do two flips, it needs to be this fast. That's cool. That's so dope. It's like literally your brain's a computer. How's your fiancee deal with it? Does she get nervous? He's too good, it's the same as my mom it's the same as my mom they see you start off nervous, right?
Starting point is 00:38:38 But then you watch me and how like I calculate so much in my brain I don't go out there and I'm like, do my hardest trick straight away. You know, it's like, it's like, do this trick. Do this, do one backflip. Do one backflip five times. It's not, the ramp's not going anywhere. I always try to tell these people, like they come to my house, especially,
Starting point is 00:38:57 the ramp's not going anywhere. Start small, jump it 10 times before you even do a trick over it. Do one backflip 20 times before you try to do two. It's always like that. No matter how many you get to like getting to triple backflip, triple backflip 360. Like I'll do a triple backflip three times,
Starting point is 00:39:14 or like a few times, you know, before I go on to a triple backflip 360. It's just be calculated. And then with the Olympics, where's that? Where's it at? Crazy. Where's it at in the Olympics? So right. So the Olympics, BMX has been in the Olympics for one time, so, but it's like
Starting point is 00:39:29 park. So, there's so many different ways to ride. I always like to say, like, Logan Martin, he's a park rider, he does the Olympics. And it's like dancing. Who's the best dancer? I don't know. This guy's so good at break dancing, he can't be, he can't ballerina, he can't be a ballerina You know, there's so many different ways to dance same as BMX It's like I'm a break dancer and the guys the Olympics are like ballerina
Starting point is 00:39:52 So there's nothing for you in the Olympics No, I mean I commentate in the Olympics So I have the knowledge of the tricks and I have knowledge of all the writers, but I would have to dedicate Four years of my life to that. Just to that. Which is a shame. So why don't they open it up to more dances? Right.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Yeah. Yeah. Right. So I think that they will in the future, but it's just like this. It's like anything. They try something out and it's going, it goes, it's going really well. And they've got it again this year and like it's bigger. There's more athletes going there and it's a huge. And it's hard to, it's a hard thing
Starting point is 00:40:26 because there has to be like so many- Countries, right? That participate. Yeah, yeah, but not only that, there's so much that goes into it. Like you have to have a world championship circuit to get to the Olympics. Like you can't just be like,
Starting point is 00:40:38 oh, this guy will go, yeah, that guy, or I reckon this guy's pretty good. You gotta qualify, yeah. No, it's like- Yeah, I wonder like when the music stops, everybody has to stop eventually when you're like 40 or whatever. What do you think you'll get into? Do you ever think about that?
Starting point is 00:40:50 Is there another thing you can get into at that age? Off-road racing? Yeah, maybe, right? Something to keep the adrenaline in. Yeah, like maybe with a motorized car or something like that, right? I did commentating, so I've done that a few times, so I'm really into that. If you're commentating at the Olympics, you're pretty fucking Yeah. No, I mean I'd be so down with that I've been commentating pretty big events. So that'd be good and then like just training like people can come to my facility
Starting point is 00:41:14 I don't know. I've not really thought about it because I'm I'll be fine. He's competing The UFC champion, what are you gonna do? It's like yeah, I think like yeah, you got a lot more you got a lot more riding. It's like the UFC champion, what are you going to do? It's like, yeah, I like it. You got a lot more. You got a lot more to do. Let's just keep going. No, it's like the week of the title fight. Like, hey man, after this, I'm like, what?
Starting point is 00:41:34 The fuck? I'm not thinking about that. I got a huge fight coming up, man. It is good to think about it, though. It's smart. No, but maybe it's not good to think about it. I'm just thinking that it's such an extreme way to live and it's so much fun. You're not going to win, though.
Starting point is 00:41:43 If he had a perfect answer, what is gonna do that this I would you got one foot Whoever he's going against this weekend. I'm better on those guys, right? If you had a whole plan was like man, I will see how this week. Yeah, but I got my own vegetables I'm like, oh you're out. That's right. He's not all every single time you see that. That's so true when fighters start talking about like One foot in like oh man. Here's my whatever business. Oh, he's screwed cuz the guy he's fighting Oh my god doesn't give a fuck about anything. But Saturday said that yeah. Yeah, you'll hear guys like they'll start doing movies or yeah Hey, wait, that's why I knew I was done. Yeah, we're doing this podcast and I was like, yeah We were gonna do live ones and conflict with a final. I'm a cow and do the live
Starting point is 00:42:23 Do you know and I remember this? When you said- He's a biker gang. I remember when you said, cause I was, we became really good friends and I was so worried about him cause I liked him so much. But he was so funny and he was, and I was like, what's he gonna do?
Starting point is 00:42:37 Like fighting, like, you know, what's he gonna do after? And I had, you know, I was a comm. And I remember you said, we started doing a podcast and started kind of getting traction. It was like, what is this? Nobody knew what a podcast was.
Starting point is 00:42:49 We were like, and then you said after my fight, man, I'm just going to go fight her in a kid and I was like, oh, this motherfucker you're thinking already after the fight that you're going to promote this podcast. And you were out. I wore a fire kid t-shirt on the walk. I turned down $20,000 and we're firing our Abbott Kenny Fight Club t-shirt. That's right That's a sponsor. That's right. So I bet on us. That's right And that's what yeah and you're like, but then you can't do both
Starting point is 00:43:12 Like you gotta be all in on that or all in on this but you're not gonna do both Hmm, like if you had a solid answer, I'm like, oh man Well, cuz the the the the it's too dire like you can't do competitive your heads got to be all in anyway Yeah, it's too competitive, like you can't. It's too competitive. Your head's gotta be all in anyway. It's too competitive. Can't make a mistake. It's too tough. I invested like a lot, like,
Starting point is 00:43:29 cause people, I get this, I've gotten shit my whole life from like, when I started riding a scooter, it was like, this guy rides a scooter cause it's fucking easy. And then I'm like, like whatever. And then I go, I'll do these tricks on a bike. And then I do all these tricks on the bike.
Starting point is 00:43:42 And then people are like, he only does that cause he's on Nitro Circus and like it's to a resi. It's easy Like he couldn't compete in the X Games and then I got in the X Games I won gold medal and they're like, oh, he's just doing fucking scooter tricks Like this is so gay like why is he doing stylish trick and I'm like fuck man Like I like doing the stylish tricks, but I like at home and when I'm chilling so I've just always that guy I've always learned that and that's why I always try to tell everyone there's always gonna be the haters.
Starting point is 00:44:08 And it's just like, just believe in yourself and just invest in yourself. And that's what I did. I bought these, I spent out the ass on these bag jumps and these resies and this all this compound. And four years later, it's just, it's multiplied my- Best investment. Best investment.
Starting point is 00:44:24 We always talk about how like you'll get hate. If you're in the public eye, But four years later, it's multiplied my- It's the best investment. Best investment ever. It's better on yourself. We always talk about how you'll get hate. If you're in the public eye, wouldn't it, so you're gonna get weird shit. And then you'll be friends with people that are, like yourself, that are just at the top of the game, right? Like you're just crushing it. Could be people who are just killing it real intimate.
Starting point is 00:44:41 And then you look at their hate and you're like, wait, first of all, what is to hate? How are you hating on hate? It's just the way the world works like anybody trying anything really hard like it triggers people that didn't take that risk so that it's easier to tear down than to create. Yeah. So like what you're doing there's probably some guy that wanted to do it but shit just happened it didn't work out and they see you live in your dream and it's so upsetting. Well look at Elon Musk. Elon Musk, it's never going to work. Tesla, none of this is going to work. They always, always, always tell him he's full of shit. Always tell him he sucks.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Yeah. Just the world. Like if Elon got on there it was like, hey, should I build an electric car business? Vote yes or no. It's going to be 90% no. If you got on there at 12, if today the world- I keep riding scooters. Hey, should I try and make a living riding a scooter? Let me know how it goes. If I was your dad, I would have been like, you're not doing this. So even a five-star recruit, if he gets on social media right now and goes, hey, I'm thinking about going to Alabama. I think I should put all my eggs in this basket and try to
Starting point is 00:45:36 get to the NFL. The amount of no's is going to way, way outweigh the yeses. But it's just the way people are. They play it safe. Yeah. It's just like, no, man, go get a nine to five. It's crazy, and if I listen to any one of the people that told me that scootering wouldn't do anything for me, then I wouldn't be in this position here today. I would be doing something else. I don't even know what I'd be doing. But that's why you are who you are, because a lot of guys do listen and go, ah, he's right,
Starting point is 00:46:02 man. I'm just going to work for my dad or whatever it is. And then there's the outliers like, get the fuck out of here. And you fucking do flips like a psycho, you know? A thousand, think about how many times it is. Like that's a thousand times. Yeah, my ass is real sore actually cause I'd fall, I'd fall all right.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Like I'd fall on my ass, but I fell on my ass so much that my ass cheeks rubbed together that like I had rash from my ass cheeks just rubbing together the chafing. Just going, that's not stopping? It was not, yeah, it was not the vibe. But then I landed. I have some more, man. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:46:29 I'll show you. But then, yeah, you see it. I land the trick and then it's like worth it. I always tell myself like when I'm doing something and it's 500 tries in, I'm like, if you're going to land the next one, it's going to be worth it. Like it makes it worth the next. The land makes all the be worth it. Like it makes it worth the next, the land makes all the journey worth it. Yeah. Yeah. It's such a solitary thing too, right? Like it's like, it's not a team
Starting point is 00:46:51 thing. It's just that you kind of like, it's, you're having this communion with yourself all the time. Yeah. Talking to yourself is the, is the X games or is the BMX community, are they kind of all one man? Like, no, believe it or not, like obviously it's an individual man? Like, I believe it's pretty cool to believe it or not. Like obviously it's an individual sport. It's, but it's like, we know the consequences. So it's not like, yeah, you can't go out there and be like, if you, you know, if this guy, if you go, if you go out there and you're like, I'm going to do my best. I hope he doesn't do his best.
Starting point is 00:47:21 It's like, if he crashes, he could really hurt himself. And like, we're friends We're great risks. Yeah, so we're on the top of the the rolling Well, I get it dude like have fun get this stuff That's because there's a small percentage of the population that realized what your risk and what it takes to even get to that level So whether you knock that trick out or not or nail it, they know what it takes It's like UFC even if you're fighting another guy after there's like that respect, cause you know the camp, the amount of balls it took to even walk into the cage.
Starting point is 00:47:51 So no matter what weight class it is, there's like this fraternity where I get it, man. There's a huge mutual respect. There's an understanding. Yeah. I think also when a guy gets starved right away, like Whitaker did to that guy, people are just like, it's like everybody's been there
Starting point is 00:48:04 in one time or not. No, I don't think it's that. No, they're not like, man, we've all been. Not so much for that. I'll let the athletes go. Not so much for that. No, no, no, they can understand a loss, for sure. The loss, they're like, yeah, shit happens.
Starting point is 00:48:18 Just that. You see these guys sometimes, a guy will spend all the time in training camp, come out and get caught, something happens, boom boom shit happens. My first X Games the first time I ever got invited I broke my spine in practice and then but then the X-ray didn't work properly in this football stadium so they couldn't see the fracture in my spine so let me ride still and then I crashed in my run. How was that pain? It sucked I felt like I shit my pants because I I fell. This is on the 28 foot jump.
Starting point is 00:48:46 I went out for that 15 feet, but I came out. Cause if you go up this ramp, it's so vertical that if you just go like this, you'll come out. And then the further you come out, the more you fall because it's so steep. So then I land on my ass, feels like I shit my pants. And then I'm like, cause I'm a crunch. And then I'm like, Oh no, I walk off. And then they're like, we got an extra, we'll extra you. Cause I'm like, cause I'm like, I'm a crunch. And then I'm like, Oh no, I walk off.
Starting point is 00:49:05 And then they're like, we got an X-ray, we'll X-ray you. Cause I'm like, there's something going on here. And they X-rayed me, but it was like too blurry through my ribs. And it was just, they're like, Oh, we can't see anything. But if it hurts, like come back and see us tomorrow. And I'm like, broken back. I'm like, yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And then anyway, I competed and I frigging screwed up my first ever X games and I flew home and I'm like, my back still sore, went to the hospital and I sure enough had fractures in my spine. I mean, that's the game. Fractures in your fucking spine. That's the game. Yeah. But I also feel like, I mean, you're doing it now, but there's always, whatever that
Starting point is 00:49:39 young kid is practicing right now, maybe listen to this and go practice, there's going to be an outlier. Like in F1, F1's been around forever. Until Lewis Hamilton came along and made it more, kind of crossed over into pop culture and became more famous, then people start paying attention to it.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Now, I mean internationally it was the biggest sport, but now in America, Netflix highlighted these guys because they have personalities and it blows up and it puts it on the map and just keeps going for whatever it is another 50 years. So I feel like with X games, when I was a kid, X games was massive. Whatever ESPN had their issues and kind of went away and then now it's back. Yeah. You know, shout out to your mom though, too, because like a lot of moms,
Starting point is 00:50:20 when they saw their kids doing that would scare them. Protect them. Like, so my mom, when I was, I mom, when I was skiing and I was jumping, and I was jumping a lot, and then my sister came back and said, Brian's jumping, because I loved it, I was trying to jump as high as she goes, Brian's jumping super high, it's so scary. And my mother, you know what my mother said to me?
Starting point is 00:50:36 Put a scarf on. She goes, that too, but she said, be careful because if you miscalculate, she catastrophizes everything. I've never forgotten. She exaggerates. She goes, this is the if you miscalculate, she catastrophizes everything. I've never forgotten. She graduates. She goes, this is literally what she said to me. She goes, and I never had so much more fun in my life.
Starting point is 00:50:53 She goes, be careful because if you miscalculate, you could hit your skis and your skis will stop and these bones will come out. They will break out. Compound fracture. She said, they'll fall out. She was just trying to tear it. I was fucking, I was like, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:51:06 12 or 11. I was like, well, that's not what I want at all. And she put that in my head and I never skied again. Hey, now, dude, should we give your mom credit? Cause that would have went nowhere. What do you mean? I can also, your mom was like, um, if you do that, you're going to die. Don't do that. Cause she wanted you to, but I could have been Ryan Williams. You never know. Why are you pissing on my dreams? Now? I'm 11 years old. That's true But you know what I mean 11 year old fucking like dream a little bit unbelievable clipping my fucking wings But I'll say right. Hey talk to you, but also your mom's the same mom And I there's moms like that when you're on escalators like oh, honey
Starting point is 00:51:41 Do do not my joke because because if the shoelaces you caught it's gonna rip your leg My mother would say that never happen because if it gets caught in the bus in the shit Tell me sorry, you know the bus is closed and the Head What the fuck man part of it's your fault part of your fault as it's just who you are as you listen to your mom I got you probably right. I'm gonna die Sam. I'm mama's boy. I can't fucking get an answer I'm a, I should probably ride my die. Sam, my mama's boy. Dude, I can't fucking get an answer. You're a little bitch, right? I'm a little bitch.
Starting point is 00:52:06 Because if I tell my kids they're swimming, I was like, hey, be careful. There's a nest over there. I'm like, you hit that nest. They're going to come out there and kill you. Boston, I kill you. And Tiger's like, hmm. I look out there, he has a stick. He's just risk takers.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Your mom never really told you that to worry about that. She was supportive. No, she was always super supportive. Obviously, at the start, I'm just at the skate park. I'm not really riding a 28 foot mega ramp. So it kind of gradually. Also his mom was a badass competitor. I was going to say, and you're 15
Starting point is 00:52:32 and they're sending you places to do it. After I was at the skate park for a year and I didn't come back with like the smash facing, it was, she was like, okay, maybe he's like doing it right. And then I was like getting like sponsored and I don't know. She, I go home and say, mom look at what I did. And she'd be like, whoa, maybe he's like doing it right. And then I was like getting like sponsored and I don't know. I go home and say, mom, look at what I did. And she'd be like, whoa, that's sick. And then like, she'd know if I had scrapes and bruises,
Starting point is 00:52:52 but I don't know. How great is that? I'd way rather my kid doing that than playing video games all day, you know, depending. Teaches you like just consequences for your actions, you know, and then it teaches you persistence if you want to like learn a trick. So it's helped me, it helped me in so many parts of my life.
Starting point is 00:53:08 But you also have to grow up pretty fast because if you're flying around and doing all this shit and you're, I mean, you're a teenager, then you're in your early twenties, you're having some success, some fame, there's money there. Like I'm sure like you can go down a weird road. Yeah. And also if you're extremists, like I don't care,
Starting point is 00:53:23 fuck what it is, UFC, standup, NFL, like when you're around that stuff, then, and you have that, you know, you want to experience like you're always running at the highest level. Snakes with apples going, take a bite. And then that apple might be full of cocaine or big tits. So it's like a lot of tough apples, a lot of curves. So, but I'm saying like I was at that level at that young age, like it must've been tough being young on your own, you know? Getting my sleeves ripped off from Travis Pastrana
Starting point is 00:53:48 at the after party. You know that, they ripped your sleeves off. Yeah, just ripped your sleeves off. Like, they'll have a drink, like, cause all athletes, I mean, I feel like action sports is such a like risk and reward sport that, yeah, you don't mind taking a few risks here and there. Adrenaline junkies.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Adrenaline junkies. But I get a lot of it just doing the tricks. Doing a new trick that I've never tried before is enough to, is the biggest rush I could get. I was going to say, what sounds interesting is that it's not, the performance is awesome, but it's coming up with the stuff and surprising yourself. Yeah, the journey's always super fun too. I feel like that's how standup is when you write a joke.
Starting point is 00:54:22 I get more satisfaction out of writing something. I kind of know what's going to work already at this point. I've done it so long. But if I come up with a thing, I'm like, dude, that's going to be really good. What about like, if you change a little bit and it lands so much harder, you're like, oh, that's like me with the trick.
Starting point is 00:54:36 I'm like, man, why isn't this working? And then I'll change like one little thing and it'll just go, it'll be like, and I'm like, let's go. I think it's all you, right? It's all you. I'll be on the plane and I was like, I've been doing the same thing and all of a sudden I go, wait, and I rehashed it and I was like, fuck, this is so much better. And it was just like a tweak, but it's like, it's night and day. I think that's kind of what, I don't know, I think maybe that's why I love it so much.
Starting point is 00:55:02 Nothing is like that. And so whether you're coming up with ways to make people laugh or coming up with ways to make people go wow, this is what you're doing, it's kind of a similar thing. I'd imagine somebody who writes a song is the same way. They write this sick song, they're like this is gonna kill. Yeah, and I feel like you're always creating,
Starting point is 00:55:18 I feel like I mesh well with the people, like the UFC fighters too, because it's a lot of risk and reward. So I always get along with all the UFC fighters, like Volkanovsky, Stahlbender, I talked to, he's been watching a lot of my stuff, and he's always like, hell, you're doing this. It's like-
Starting point is 00:55:32 Because he's the best. Because we take the risk and sometimes you lose and sometimes you win. It's a fraternity, bro. They recognize something. And that's sort of why. It's a fraternity, yeah. Because we're all the same thing.
Starting point is 00:55:43 I'm fighting the ground, and sometimes to why. It's a fraternity. Yeah. Cause I'm like fighting. We're all the same thing. I'm fighting the ground. Yeah. And sometimes it wins. And yeah. You are. You are. But like the guy, it's not a knock on them. It's just, I can't relate to those guys. It's like that nine to five or like the guy that works at Remax, he just doesn't get like how it's this, it's this risk reward thing. There's no backup plan. Like you're not going to get to your level if you have a plan B all your life. You have rich parents. You're not gonna become Izzy if you have rich parents. It just doesn't happen. So then you guys like you made it,
Starting point is 00:56:10 which is so rare and so damn tough. Poverty is, you know, creates that hunger or just like longing, whatever it might be. Longing is really important. Just wanting stuff you can. My buddy just, my buddy just fucking, good friend of mine, his company's about to be a billion dollar company.
Starting point is 00:56:27 I knew you were gonna say billion. Like for real. I knew it was gonna be billion. Yeah. That's a lot of millions. No, but like crazy money. Yeah, wow. He came up with something 10 years ago
Starting point is 00:56:35 and followed it through and now they just, like yesterday, like it just sold. His name's Elon Musk. It's gonna be, yeah, but he's, no, no, it just sold. Brian just full of shit, he's like, Elon Musk is a friend of mine. Yeah, yeah, Elon Musk is a good buddy, but he just sold it. And like, I was talking to him and his childhood, like, he was like, I was physically hungry growing up.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Like I grew up, my dad was a mechanic. He goes, like, we were hungry. We had to split, Dominic Cruz talks about that. Like they had to split a happy meal. And it's like that kind of stuff. Now he's... I go, what's that do to you? He goes, I still have work to do, bro. He can't shut it off.
Starting point is 00:57:14 No, that never leaves. No. I think there's a story of the kid who's hungry and wants to make money, he can buy things and that's great. There's that. But then there's also kids come from blue collar families and they don't have to be divorced or drug addicts And there's fucking there's that there's a there's some reason there's some chip on their shoulder
Starting point is 00:57:30 Whatever it is. Yeah, they're playing little league and their best friend's parents had money and bought the kid to cool gloves or whatever He got the attention and for whatever reason it puts a fucking chip on the kid's shoulder and he's gonna make it cuz he always feels Maybe he's second best all the time when he might be the kid's shoulder and he's gonna make it cause he always feels maybe he's second best all the time when he might be the best. Just listen to Jordan's Hall of Fame speech. Sure, so it's like whatever your motivation is it can come from anything.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Yeah. It doesn't have to come from poverty. You might be a rich kid. There's rich kids are fucked, their work ethics are nuts cause their dads, whatever, are super famous and they have this chip on their shoulder like I could get out from underneath this shadow of my dad.
Starting point is 00:58:05 Yeah. And the work ethic is nuts, man. So it just, it comes from all sorts of different places. For me, I think it was just like an opportunity. When I got opportunities, I just capitalize on the opportunities. As long as you appreciate the opportunities that I've put in front of you and you like do your best to try capitalize on it. That's like the main thing that I feel like got me where I am. Like it was, I saw it's good. Obviously there was something, I had my persistence,
Starting point is 00:58:28 I had my consistency, but a lot of people have that as well and they don't make it just because they don't ever get noticed or they don't ever get the opportunity. But I got it. Or they get the opportunity and don't show up. Yeah. Like there's, again, there's, we're talking about practice. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like there's guys, I'm sure they can do crazy shit
Starting point is 00:58:42 on your ramp at home. Yeah. And then the cameras in the X games are like, oh shit. Yeah, you don't you got a lot of fighters You get better guys. There's fire. I'm trying to get some fighters. I'm like this guy's never gonna lose. Yeah this guy Oh my god, I'm fucked. I'm number 10. This guy beat the shit on me for three rounds Wow, then the lights go on and people bought tickets. I gotta make that one I show up. Yeah, and he's shitting his pants and he's stiff and he's not fighting the same. So there's, there's people that show up, like they're game time players and there's practice players.
Starting point is 00:59:11 But did you ever feel, did you always feel like nervous or did you always get, yeah, yes. Cause that's like me. Like I'm always, I always feel the exact same nervousness and I feel like almost sick, but it almost turns a crazy thing. Like, I don't know what turns on, but something turns on where I do better. I feel like, I'm like, oh, I feel like I'm about to vomit,
Starting point is 00:59:31 about to drop in, but then something just like clicks and it's like almost like I'm hyper-focused. It's like I'm locked into this crazy mode of like, just on and- That's a special skill. Have you had it before where you weren't nervous and you did bad? Probably, but yeah. I you had it before where you weren't nervous and you did bad? Probably. I've had it where I wasn't nervous. I'm like, oh, this is cool. I'm nervous. I had the worst performance ever. If you don't have those nerves, you're not going to perform as good.
Starting point is 00:59:55 You need those nerves because it fires everything up. It heightens everything. You can almost use it to your advantage. That's what GSP says. He's like, everyone has nerves. I'm just the best at getting those butterflies in my stomach to align. Yeah. Wasn't he always terrified before a fight? The worst. He was?
Starting point is 01:00:10 The worst, yeah, the worst. GSP. I know guys that vomit every time they do X Games. They vomit before they ride. Like, but they do well, but they're so nervous. There are a lot of performers like that. And it's not me though. Not me.
Starting point is 01:00:21 There are a lot of performers like that though. Yeah, that's crazy. And then they go out and kick ass. Meryl Streep, by the way, the greatest actress, she's just always like, I don't fucking know what that is. Imagine being in a, that'd be crazy being an actor, being that nervous.
Starting point is 01:00:31 You know what I do to Meryl Streep? Hey, you get 20 takes. I know, no way. I know, but, so my friend directed her first, she was reading a book. It was through a book. Yeah. And she's in the hallway going like this.
Starting point is 01:00:43 Oh, god, I gotta think of the thing. She's like, are you nervous? Well, four. Your friend's in the hallway going like this. She's like, are you nervous? Your friend was buying cream burger on the show. My friend was, my friend was directing her reading up a book. You know, yeah. And this is like a book on tape. I wouldn't be nervous. Even a little bit. Yeah. Cares. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This was the, so, so a fucking, uh, but the confidence that's like me, always the nervous, the most nervous I've ever been. Asking Jess to marry me.
Starting point is 01:01:09 Terrifying. I was- Terrifying. I couldn't speak, I was in Japan. I was like, I'm doing under the cherry blossoms in Japan. And there was like, the first place we went to, the cherry blossoms had like all died. So there was none on the tree.
Starting point is 01:01:21 And I'm like, no, there's like two or three flowers. I'm like, shit. That's not how I pictured it. Exactly. We'll go to the next spot. And she's like, no, there's like two or three flowers. I'm like, shit. I'm like, exactly. We'll go to the next spot. And she's like, why are we going to another cherry blossom place? I'm like, just try it's on the way. I'm like, it's on the way. It's on the way to the next spot.
Starting point is 01:01:33 And then anyway, yeah, I found the spot. And then I was like, okay. I practiced like four sentences in the shower that morning. I like, I know what I'm going to say. I said like one and a half of it. And then I'm like, we married. Like after competing at X Games, we were gold medals, doing nitrous circus in front of like 30,000 people in South Africa.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Do my tricks, no worries, let's go. And then I can't just talk to the woman I love. I can say words. How long were you dating? You guys dated? For about four years. Yeah, but I've been with me. How'd you meet?
Starting point is 01:02:04 A few mutual friends. And then we went on a date to sushi and she dropped mayonnaise on my shoe. How long have you dated? You guys dated? For about four years. Wow. How'd you meet? A few mutual friends and then we went on a date to sushi and she dropped mayonnaise on my shoe. I can't use chopsticks so I shot it across the table. Wait, what did you do? What happened? Oh, she can't use chopsticks so she's like trying to use chopsticks and she dropped the mayonnaise under the table, under my shoe.
Starting point is 01:02:19 It's just something I always remember, it's sushi. And don't you guys call crabs, crustaceans, bugs in Australia? I think they do, but yeah, we don't really that much. Yeah. Crabs? I mean, we just crab. Because we're being too much. What do you call it? Bugs? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We do. We do. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:38 I saw the menu and it said bugs. I'm like, no. Yeah, we have. So in my mind, American, I'm thinking like cockroaches, grass harpers. But it would- I call shrimp sea roaches. So yeah, there are bugs. They're all in the bug family. Yeah, I didn't order it because it grossed me out. Let's take a little break, B,

Starting point is 01:04:47 Jess is a nurse too so I know when he's faking it actually last X games when I want I end up winning two gold medals and one silver medal and I was like so sick and she's like I couldn't even get out of bed. She's like, I'm gonna go get you stuff. She went to the chemist and she like got all this concoction of like drugs. And I'm like, I just, then I got to ride practice. And then yeah, then I won. And we, I had us staying at the Motel 6
Starting point is 01:05:16 because last year I wasn't sponsored by like Monster or anyone. So I did, who knows, ask them mate. But for a long time. Yeah, you can ask them, but they are now. I'm stoked, but basically I was paying my own way and I was like, we'll just stay at Motel 6, it's so close. Like we didn't know really what Motel 6 was.
Starting point is 01:05:35 Yeah, and then we get there, the first night, there's like a police raid. And like, I'm like, oh, I gotta do X-Dais. Yeah, when you wanna mix meth or traffic people, you use a motel. Yeah, yeah, motel. So then, yeah, first night is police raid, and then I have the competition the next day.
Starting point is 01:05:50 So I do my first, I do, oh no, like the elimination round, which is like just the first one, just to get in the finals. So I do that, I get through that night. There's a fire brigade there. And then the next day I win two gold, oh, I win one silver medal and one gold medal and I'm like let's get a better hotel but it took me winning two medals to get us into the actually a gold medalist isn't gonna stay at the motel six any longer no we can't have addicts outside
Starting point is 01:06:19 like the window like growling at night. I'm like, Oh, I'm scared. And what city was this in? Ventura. Oh yeah. Okay. It'll get rough. Ventura will get rough. Oh yeah. There's a lot of math. A lot of speed. I like Ventura as a city but it can be certain. Yeah, we still like it but. Yeah. It can be. Yeah. But um I think that's just instilled in me from my childhood too. I just like to. Now you travel with dumb question. Do you travel with your bike or do they have a bike? No. Yeah. I got two bikes and they just I got
Starting point is 01:06:46 I pull them fully apart and they fit in a bag. That's not even there's one in oversized Which is kind of bigger. I can kind of keep my bike a little carrier bike with yeah. Yeah, how much they were apart? I don't know in pounds. Sorry, but it's like 10 kilos like it's pretty light my bike. It's got titanium on it 20 22 pounds Yeah, they're light. Yeah. Yeah, it's super light, but it's not a motorbike. No. Ryan's like, how do you bring your Harley on the airplane? I saw you riding your chopper. I knew you rode scooters and I knew you rode bikes,
Starting point is 01:07:16 but I just always assumed you also rode motorcycles. Maybe next time. It's a different world, right? It's the risk factor. They can't fall off a thousand times. They have airbags though, and that's really helped. That's really pushed the level. Travis Estrada has invested in a lot of
Starting point is 01:07:31 that bag jump technology where it's like, you can kind of crash. But still, even if you land upside down on an airbag, you've still got a motorbike above your head that's gonna crush you. And it's just like hundreds of pounds. So yeah, that's where I, unless there's something I can do that I know I could land
Starting point is 01:07:47 on a motorbike. Yeah, with bikes, bro. Yeah, I think I'm still just as exciting. Have you ever tried any extreme sports? Nope. Oh, wait, when I was when I was skiing, my mom told me my bones would pop out of my way to ruin my life. I grew up snowboarding. I grew up in Denver.
Starting point is 01:08:06 That's not that extreme. Well, it can be. You fought in a cage with giant men. That's it. Hold on. Bro, do you remember the guys you used to practice with who were six foot eight trying to punch you in the face as hard as they could? That's pretty extreme.
Starting point is 01:08:20 Who were pro kickboxers? I mean, I do off-road racing now, which is pretty fucking... I didn't realize how dangerous it was until I was actually out there on the course. That's pretty fucking extreme. Yeah now it's pretty fucking I didn't realize how dangerous was I was actually out there on the course that's pretty fucking extreme yes not you practice in your truck didn't you I seen that same as getting punched in the face by Giants different they're all they it's all extreme like it's just different like that off-road race is fucking dangerous dude I've never been all the time I've never been in a fight my whole life Never been in my whole would you love UFC? Yeah, I do. I love the UFC, but I just watch it
Starting point is 01:08:51 I just get you get out of the other. What's this now? I'd like to oh Birthday yeah to that two days ago. Oh shit X's and scooters days ago. Oh, shit! Happy birthday! What? You put BMXs and scooters on it? Look at that! Thanks so much! And that comes with a gift certificate to Motel 6. That's right. A free stay.
Starting point is 01:09:16 Two nights on us. Do you stick to a diet or no? Well, not a specific diet. I just don't eat bad. I just feel better. When I eat good, when I eat bad, sorry, is more I feel not 100%. And if you're not feeling 100% when you're doing
Starting point is 01:09:32 like these tricks, it's just- You gotta be on, man. It's like imagine having a fight and you're like, I'm gonna eat maccas before it like, now I'm gonna get my ass beat and I'm full of McDonald's. Like that's not gonna- Just mentally too, you know? Yeah, I always eat, just try to eat clean to eat clean and then I mean I'm 30 years old
Starting point is 01:09:46 So I'm just trying to stay fit and compete with 21 year olds, you know Well, we have some cupcakes for you. We got cupcakes. Yes. I'm current bench did Will you watch the because you're the X Games like what you guys do it during the day still? Yeah Yeah, so you'll be able to watch the UFC. Yeah, I'll be watching 303 on Saturday. Yeah, so I wish I could fly It's on Saturday. It's on Saturday. Yeah, it'm excited. I wish I could fly, it's on Saturday. It's on Saturday. Yeah, so it's going to be the same day. I'm competing, but I'm excited.
Starting point is 01:10:10 I'm going to Perth. You're going to, that's a big day. Yeah, I know. It just got even better. I got my flight. I surprised my mom. You should have seen, I surprised my mom and she started beating me up in the kitchen.
Starting point is 01:10:19 Really? Yeah, I'm like, you're going to the UFC. And she's like, what? Started punching me. She loves it. Oh, she loves it. Cause they announced Strickland, Duplices. And then I think-
Starting point is 01:10:29 No, it's Adesanya. Oh, would I say Strickland? I'm sorry. But I think they're, I bet you they announced Strickland versus Whitaker. When is this gonna happen? That's what I think they're gonna do. When is this?
Starting point is 01:10:39 August 17th. August. Cause you could think about it. Whitaker doesn't have a mark on him, starched hopefully. And then Strickland is chillin That was the fight. Yeah, I know that they said that he'd be Robert could be the backup But he's thinking that just chucked him in but that's wild to go straight into Strickland. That's crazy
Starting point is 01:10:56 It was a fight. They're supposed to fight before it was offered That what do you think? Who do you think? Me? I never bet against Adesanya. I think Adesanya is greatness and I think he's going to be a big. You know, the first UFC fight, so the way I met Dana, he posted one of my videos and then I messaged him back,
Starting point is 01:11:17 he's like, you're the absolute goat of action sports. You're crazy. And I'm like, dude, you're coming to Melbourne a few days after Nitro Circus. Do you want to come to Nitro Circus? So he came to Nitro Circus. You want to come to Nitro Circus So he came to Nitro Circus This is like maybe six years ago And he came to Nitro Circus on the field and he like experienced the biggest part of the show
Starting point is 01:11:34 He was like I'm gonna buy this Yeah right It might have been you He's like I like it all take Yeah And then two days later, it was, I went to my first UFC fight and I was in container, I was like, I'll hook you up with tickets.
Starting point is 01:11:50 And I'm like, oh shit, cool. And I'm sitting next to Chris Hensworth. I'm like, what the fuck's going on? Don't worry, dude. He's Australian too, isn't he? Oh yeah. Yeah. And then I was sitting, cause I was a, I'm a huge fan of Starbender,
Starting point is 01:12:03 but then I was sitting next to Whittaker's family and obviously I'm Australian, so I love Whittaker. So I'm like, ugh, like I'm all about anime and stuff. So I was like, I love Starbender, but then I'm sitting with Whittaker's family. And that was the first time I realized like, wow, like this is gnarly to sit next to a family. There's so, I was like, I have to.
Starting point is 01:12:20 Especially when they lose. Yes. It's heartbreaking. Cause you just see it just, it's up. So when I was working with Showtime, they sat me and my brother next to the guy, I forget his name, who Deontay Wilder was fighting. It was a dead man walking.
Starting point is 01:12:34 I mean, it was a horrible fight. And I sat down, I take his leg, and my brother's like, man, he's ringside. I was like, this is cool. And I looked over and I'm like, I saw the shirt of Brazil, I think his name was. And Jay goes, these seats are looked over and I'm like, yeah, I saw the shirt. Yeah Brazil I think his name was and I and Jay goes these seats are yeah. Oh, yeah, so it sees you as why I go That's the family that I don't taste fighting. Jay's like should be a good fight go
Starting point is 01:12:54 Like I'm telling you see tears. Yeah fuck. I don't say no, we'll be fine He literally I think he killed him the family's like And my brother's like, holy shit. I tried to tell you, it's a fucking, when you're next to the family and they lose, dude, there's nothing worse. That's like, did you have your whole family
Starting point is 01:13:12 at the end of your fights? All fights. All fights, yeah. My dad and brother never missed a fight. Me too. I hated it. It's like my boy watching it, I hate that shit. I hate watching, like watching your friends fight,
Starting point is 01:13:23 it's like, just sucks. Sucks. But not when they win, when they win like watching your friends fights. It's like just sucks Sucks, but I would not when they win when they win. It's awesome. Yeah, it's like it's a tough night in the office Yeah, but you'll watch all the UFC's now. Yeah That whole area like New Zealand Australia, it's poppin man. Yeah, it's always sick when you the crowds always sody. They're always yelling crazy stuff out in the crowd. But yeah, ever since then, I've just been like a massive fan of it. I couldn't believe it. Do you bet on it or no? Yeah, here and there, just a little bit on sports bet.
Starting point is 01:13:53 Not much though. What are you going to take? I always lose because Jess always bets against, as soon as Jess bets against me, I always lose. She just goes, I just know, I can look at him. I can tell. She has like the alpha male smell. She goes, yeah, that guy's going to win. He could protect my family better than the other guy.
Starting point is 01:14:09 But also you probably got into it because like Volkonovsky dominating, Izzy dominating. Whitaker's been dominating for a hot second. Like there's a lot of Australians, man. Yeah, it's always popping. Yeah, no, I love it. But I actually like the Apex funds, flights are sick because there's not so much crowd and you actually hear like the corner work. And fights are sick because you know, there's not so many so much crowd
Starting point is 01:14:25 You actually hear that the corner work and it's always really interesting me. You got you got an opinion on to please his Izzy is yeah, I mean, I'm always I'm gonna go starbender just cuz He's like he's just into like the anime and stuff and like I just like the way he fights So but it's just like strict I was going for easy when he fought strictly and I was there and I was like what is going on? But I think he always comes back from a loss pretty pretty good That's why I'd be betting on it. I don't almost guarantee is he wins this fight. Yeah come on. Come on, dude
Starting point is 01:14:58 I would not you said like when he lost to Strickland and you know straight I'm not taking anything away from strictly. Yeah, Is he had an off night, you know, short notice fight. We didn't realize how good Strickland was with his defense and all that. Is he just had an off night? And we find out prior, he got like a DUI. I was kind of fucking around. He's probably drinking the Kool-Aid a little too much. So he went through that lesson and now you're going to give them duplices and
Starting point is 01:15:18 they hate each other. Dude, I'll take Izzy all day. But then it's like Polo was like he, Strickland did the same thing to Polo Costa. Just, just Costa had nothing for him, really. The difference is like, Paulo Costa didn't fight his game, and tried to sit on the outside, and he doesn't have the tools to beat him, so that made no sense.
Starting point is 01:15:35 But Izzy, motivated Izzy, come off a loss, good fucking luck. Good luck, man. Starboard is huge. I didn't, another thing with the UFCP, I I think they were like, Oh, how much you weigh. And I think I was like, I'd be up against like, if I didn't cut weight, I was, I'd be fighting style bender. I'm like, are you, are you fucking kidding me?
Starting point is 01:15:53 He's tall. You were, you were 185, but you gotta remember he sucks down. So by the time he steps in, he's at least 205 to 10, right? Nah, maybe two hundo tall, tall and thin, but he's fucking tall tall thin babies fucking tall Imagine if it was white weight classes in BMX. I mean heavy will ha people like cutting weight to just do tallies 55 pounders are your size? Yeah Like 85 I know 50 50 fibers. Yeah, there's no 45
Starting point is 01:16:23 There are some yeah there are. You're talking about pretty heavy right now. There might be one or two. But there are a lot of 55ers. The professionals. 55ers walk around. Some 55ers some. Well Dustin Poirier 100% walks around 85, 100%.
Starting point is 01:16:36 Yeah. And so does all of us. Is long. Yeah and Gagey's big. I saw Gagey I was like what the fuck. 55 to 85 to 55 is not uncommon you know yeah yeah out of camp I mean is out of camp like so so so Khabib Khabib trying to get down to 55 he was walking around 190 so yeah he's a nightmare yeah I got a
Starting point is 01:16:57 question about fighters yeah you know when people think about fighters sometimes they think of like an aggressive dude at the bar is there anyone that's actually like like an aggressive dude that's up in the top level? Strickland. Yeah. Strickland is the one guy that, again, you know, in a fight, in a street fight or whatever, he's the one guy when you think of like,
Starting point is 01:17:16 the way fighters are, he kind of shows that. Most of them aren't like that. Yeah. Most of them aren't. Well, they can't really get into a fight outside the UFC. They can, but I also think like it's a yeah Shrieklund has a lot of demons man yeah I grew up all fucked up so he has like all these insecurities which is what makes him great but then most fighters are like they're the
Starting point is 01:17:36 ego's not there we don't need to be the tough guy in the bar we know it yeah so they're not like like you know you never see him they're usually just chilling in the corner and shit pops off. Good luck, man So it's always there's a calm guy. But yeah Strickland's getting that one guy where it's like Yeah, but I love him. He's great. Yeah, but most guys are chill man. Yeah That's who you should be worried about the quiet guy in the bar is not making all the noise Yeah, a lot of just say a lot of skies the least toughest guy every father I've ever met is like being super nice to me and everyone's like so welcoming and you're also around Robert Whitaker
Starting point is 01:18:08 Yeah, first team all nice Robert Whitaker is the nicest fucking yeah family guy thing Yes, five fucking kids does is he great guy Alex Volkonovsky couldn't be a person Yeah, tie to a Vasa. Yeah, I shouldn't Pedro like all those Mark Hunt dude all of them are like the night is fucking people in the world and Absolute fucking savages all of them savages But they're all the nicest fucking guys. Yeah. Yeah. Well, they saved it. They saved the aggression for When they can get it out, I have nothing to prove. They also have nothing like what you know Yeah, what do you got James? All right. Actually, how are you with time? You good? Oh, I'm good, man
Starting point is 01:18:48 I've got nothing to do today. We're chilling. Perfect. Yeah, I think we should start talking about the biggest thing, right? Connor UFC is postponed, but everyone has their opinion on it. What's your thought on that? I Think there are other things going on So uncle Chael thought he was going to rehab. I heard jail pulled thought on that? I think there are other things going on. So Uncle Chail thought he was going to rehab, I heard. Chail pulled back on that. Oh, he did pull back, okay. So then you got like Rafael over here saying something,
Starting point is 01:19:14 we have Makachev saying, you know, you don't need a pinky toe for a fight, chicken. We have Ilya coming through saying, you're mentally broken, that is your biggest lesson. You doubt yourself, your abilities, your preparation. That's why you don't show up. You're a... Geez, everybody wants a piece of Connor.
Starting point is 01:19:30 You know the band Knuckle when he was... Was it the band Knuckle who did that speech? It was PFL. PFL, sorry. Yeah, he looked jacked. He looked like he was in shape. Yeah, so here's the thing with this is, and Rogan nailed on the head, but... So there's going to be a bunch of conspiracies and all this stuff that's so much more interesting than the truth.
Starting point is 01:19:49 Yeah. Like, and it's same with conspiracies, whatever it is. Like if you say the world's round and it was like, ah, that's not fun. Flat so fun. Yeah. Or 9-11, so fun, dude. MK Ultra, this is so fun. With Connor, it's like, here's the narrative.
Starting point is 01:20:03 Here's the story. He was preparing for the story. He was preparing for the fight. He didn't have the proper equipment on. He kicked and he knows better. He kicked, broke his toe, right? And it's on the same leg that he damaged. It's a real, it's a, it's a real time. Yeah. Yeah. But I fought with a broken pinky. I would say Alex Pierre is fighting this weekend with two broken toes. People do it all the fucking time. Right. And there's nothing you can do, you just tape it to the other one, you move on.
Starting point is 01:20:27 But for Connor, you gotta realize where he's at, it's like, he loses one, it's fucking over. He's fought hurt before, he fought with a blown out knee against Mendez and still fucking knocked him out. Even getting taken down, you know, in the first round, losing the first round. So we know he can do that.
Starting point is 01:20:40 With Connor, like he can't have any injuries, like he needs to be able to move because you lose this one the ride's over it's completely over yeah so i think for him and his team it's like could you fight yeah you're maybe 80 your movement's fucking awful and you and just to help with this narrative you know the reason why the news came out so late they put lidocaine in his in that broken toe and just to have him move around. So they waited three to four days to see how he moved.
Starting point is 01:21:09 And he was like, it's still, it's the exact same. And that's when they pulled it. But the narrative of, you know, he's doing illegal shit in Dublin or he needs to go to rehab, that's fun, dude. That's all that's out there. Of course it's out there. None of it's true.
Starting point is 01:21:23 None of it's true. Or it is. It's not. And then how long, it's true. None of it's true. Or it is. It's not. And then how long? It's not that long. He might need ages. They just postpone it and I feel like maybe 10% of people are going to be like, I'm not going to watch that now. This is so annoying. Not even 10%. No, they won't. No, they're going to do shit. 50%. Then now everyone talking about this, oh, it's even more hype. It's going to be even bigger. It's going to be even crazier. Again, if this was Conor seven years ago, he takes this fight. We don't hear about it.
Starting point is 01:21:45 Yeah, really? No, we don't fucking do fighters fight all the time with broken toes. It fucking happens. Yeah, but it says this is the big hurrah. He loses one the fucking rides over. I think his team was like buddy even at 80% like Chandler's a tough fucking fight. We need the movement. Just postpone it. Yeah, you what like it's not like he's in this title hunt. It's not like you need to rush him back. But it does feel like a broken toe, even if it's your pinky toe, it is a real injury. That's a bitch. It's a bitch.
Starting point is 01:22:14 I mean, training all the time, but a complete break. It looks like it's a complete break. Yeah, it's not like just a purple toe. It's slack. It's not like a hairline fracture. No, if you look at it actually, it's a clean break. That's what I'm saying. They tried lidocaine.
Starting point is 01:22:26 Literally, he was still down. He's like, all right, just like any fighter. See that? That's a clean break. Yeah, that's going to suck. Yeah, just like any fighter, they're like, all right, let's work through this. And they just tape it.
Starting point is 01:22:35 Like, if you see fighters with tape, it's because they broke the toe. It happens all the fucking time. I just think with him, they tried the lidocaine. He's like, I still can't move at 100. And his team's like, just post it. Yeah. Just postpone it.
Starting point is 01:22:47 How long will it take to heal that? Do you think? Do you know? I mean, that's tough. Is it six weeks? Like, about a split, pretty shabby day. You have to set it. Six to eight weeks.
Starting point is 01:22:57 It looks like it's off. He should be all right with that. And again, you tape it to the other one so it doesn't like peel outward, right? So you tape it to the other one I broke my four toes and you go to the doctor They just tape it to the other one you wear sandals for a fucking six weeks, right? So I would I would bet he fights in like October November. Yeah, you want to be super safe You're doing December, you know, hopefully nothing happens again, but he and all these narratives They're so much more fun than the truth. The truth is boring. It's not fun.
Starting point is 01:23:25 Yeah. Even Treyl dialed back on that. I mean, yeah, that looks like a top break. If I'm Connor, I didn't post that. I go, yeah, I fucked up my leg training the same leg that I broke. I'm a postponent. I think posting the broken pinky. Yeah, it's because of the tone.
Starting point is 01:23:44 People are like, pinky? People are like, but these people are like, I've never fought a postponent. I think post in the book is pinky But these people are like I've never fought in their life And then fighters who have fought with it before like what the fuck? Yeah, I think you should have just been super vague Yep, fuck my leg up in training. Could I fight? Maybe I don't push it. We're fighting November. I He didn't know anybody anything. I'm gonna post this. No fuck off. I want done any of that Really? You don't know anybody anything. It's Connor McGregor. Yeah But I think Dana's sick of his shit If you know Dana's like that they asked him to post fight press conference like when's this fight?
Starting point is 01:24:17 He's like, I don't know. I don't September October. I don't fucking know when he's ready. We'll let you know Yeah, he's just over it. That's how it goes. You know with Homs that he's like, ah, whatever You know with Homs that he's like, ah, whatever You know if you keep missing and then you've seen putting all this market money into it eventually Dan's like, all right moving on So you think they'll postpone this to do they have a date on this? No kind of because we don't know like with the toe with this movement. I bet what we'll get an announcement like a month month and a half Let summer chill out Still a great card though. No Con chill out. I'm excited.
Starting point is 01:24:45 Still a great card though. No Conum is still a great card. It's epic card. Fuck. I love how Pereira's reaction, he's just on the phone, he's like, Charmer, no Charmer. He's just ready to go.
Starting point is 01:24:56 He's so scared. At UFC 300, his walk-ins are just the best. I was like, no, I feel like it's one of the best walk-ins when he's like, he's like, yeah, he's made a stone. Yeah. His face, everything was hard. He would be like the leader of like a tribe back in the day. Like just everybody's a bitch. Everybody's a bitch. He's like the leader. Yeah. He's got like, and also to be that heavy, but that with so little fat, like just giant guy. He has to be the scariest guy in the UFC. Probably. He has to be Francis. It's him. Do you think you'll actually go to heavyweight?
Starting point is 01:25:27 Yes. Does he beat Francis if he goes to heavyweight, do you think? Different story. And Francis in the UFC, so I don't know. But with this, I think his reward for, again, replacing and saving it, because remember, he saved 300. 300 was a nightmare.
Starting point is 01:25:40 They called him up. He's down short notice. Saves this. International fight week, for those that don't know, this is massive for the UFC. So for him up. He's down short notice saves this international fight week for those that are you this is massive Yeah, he's for him taking us two weeks is massive. So he's helping out again I think they're gonna repay him by letting him be the first ever fighter to attempt to go for three belts Mm-hmm. I think they're gonna give him this thing to fight the winner of blades and Aspinal and was prasca was he preparing for a fight? I know that he just fought on now
Starting point is 01:26:02 He just fought 300 didn't he and then he but he won but so he wasn't preparing either So it's kind of like not because if it was like per Haskell was getting ready for another fight Then I'll be like, oh man, like that's gonna be hot short notice. Yeah, that's what that makes it fine. Yeah I think the reward Alex and then fight for heavyweight It'll be for interim title because John Jones is the you know, the legit champ But still still be a three-time champ. Different weight classes. First ever. Is Ortega, has he only fought that one time since being back? Yeah. And he just, he aced, he looked so good, right? Yeah. He got in trouble
Starting point is 01:26:35 early and then powered through it. Yeah. Can't believe he shaved his head. I think it's an outrage with that hair. Do you shave it again? The last I saw- I don't think so. I think it's back. Yeah, it's back. Yeah, he shaved his head in a while. You know what would be outrage? If Diego Lopez shaved shaved his head that'd be more of an outrage. I know You have that little emo look flip. Yeah, you train where I'm just just crazy stupid. Yeah. Yeah, Savage How does that's a prayer if you spaced off like is prayer the same heart as you he might be taller me Yeah, I'm six four He has to be at least sick was he they might listen at six four
Starting point is 01:27:07 But listen is he taller and is he cuz is he's taller than me six four I'm he's a little taller me Yeah, cuz is he's taller me Cuz when is he jumped out of the van where we're shooting food truck diaries. He's tall ass I was like, what the fuck? He's like, dude, I'm too. Because remember, that's when he was going to fight Jones. I mean, that's. Oh, probably just higher.
Starting point is 01:27:29 It's all like this. Little bit. Yeah, he's. Big boys. His skull's a lot bigger. That's about it. Oh, no, his shoulder's a little higher, too. I thought his skull was just big.
Starting point is 01:27:39 You know what? He's taller than Izzy. Yeah, I'm tiny. 6'5, 6'5 and 1.5. They're fucking big, dude. Unbelievable. Yeah. But you should root for Alex to win this fight because if he wins, I bet they,
Starting point is 01:27:51 his desserts going to be fighting for heavyweight title and be the first ever. It's, we're never going to see it again. If you want legendary shit, a guy winning middleweight light, heavyweight and heavyweight will never happen again. And he's the only guy who's going to have the opportunity. He's had, who's Aspinal fighting in Chris blades. And he's the only guy who's going to have the opportunity. Who's Aspinall fighting? Curtis Blades. Oh, that's July 27th.
Starting point is 01:28:08 That's a rematch. Damn. Thoughts? Curtis is a motherfucker. Yeah. His wrestling. Great fight. Every time I hear that he's fighting, I expect him to just take the person down and elbow the crap out of him.
Starting point is 01:28:20 Yeah. But then it hasn't happened a lot. He falls in love with his striking. It's getting better, but his ground and pound happened. He's like falls in love with his striking. It's getting better. His grandpounds nasty That card is great The best fight on that card, but I'm Brian Ortega Diego Lopez is fucking tasty being Gary versus Michael page. That's the fight Yeah, that's the motherfucking fight. Oh you are you gonna be there? No, I'll be at X games Probably winning some golds man. You'll be winning some golds. Yeah, I'm excited about that
Starting point is 01:28:46 Machado Gary, Michael Page fight. You're going with Machado Gary on that. Oh yeah. Swanson versus Feely. That's a big one. I feel like they fought 10 times before. Really? But they never have. Really? Oh yeah. It's so weird. Joe Pfeiffer is great. You should be on the main card. Nice. Joe Pfeiffer is great. You should be on the main card. Nice. Andre Olavsky is still doing the damn thing. Isn't that fucking wild? Ricky Simone is always great too. The whole card, I mean it's International Fight Week. They always stack it. You have the UFC Expo around it. It's great.
Starting point is 01:29:17 I got another one. What about that Macy Barlow vs. Thug Rose? That's a crazy one. And that's in Denver. Yeah. I feel like has Macy, like, I think her fight was, was she, she was on 300, right? Oh no, she was, she was at 300. Sorry. She had just had a fight recently, but was it, it wasn't against someone as good as Stug Rose. Hey, uh, no, not true Kagan. She changed her last name to the
Starting point is 01:29:43 husband's name. But this is a Barbara's last few fights. Macy doing the damn thing. A lot of decisions, but still. Yeah, Macy's a savage. And Thug, it's tough, you know? She was out for so long. Denver product though. Macy's a little beast though.
Starting point is 01:30:02 That's gonna be a tough fight for Thug. Damn. Macy's tough, man. She's fucking strong. be a tough fight for Thug. Damn. Macy's tough man, she's fucking strong. Starting point is 01:30:57 Visit OReillyAuto.com slash fighter. That's OReillyAuto.com slash fighter. Let's check in with little Ryan Garcia this week guys. So you know you went on stage with Chris. We're gonna get to that. So first he announced he was retiring, but then it came out that he only said that because he's gonna be banned for a year
Starting point is 01:31:17 for testing positive for PEDs. Then he ended up saying he'd like to go into UFC and even potentially said he'd like to fight sugar and Most recently Chris D'Alia brought him up on stage and we have the clip You know what bothers me? He tagged Ryan twice Chris at King Ryan at King Ryan. We got it He said he's gonna write X Games to this weekend Man Oh man, taking on Ryan Williams. You wanted to do stand up for the first time ever. He's never done stand up before in his life.
Starting point is 01:31:49 Okay? And this is a world famous person here. Welcome. World famous person here? So he had jokes ready to go be, but he forgot them. Stand up stuff. Stand up is not easy she just brought some notes I don't know kids different animal he's probably nervous super nervous and he's
Starting point is 01:32:12 in shorts yeah right all this shit double denim is that This is hard, this is really fucking hard, okay? This dude is a fighter. Chris trying to help him out. Somebody tips for me, I said, guess what, it's not gonna go the way you think it is. Right, Tim? It's tough. Especially, I wonder how much you prepared. Chris is great, though. I'm a boxer.
Starting point is 01:32:40 But I'm currently betting for boxing for a year. Oh! But I'm currently betting for boxing for a year. BOO! I didn't cheat. I didn't do anything just to be clear. But, I've been doing anything to try to save those that bought it. I didn't. Perfect. I'm only boxing since I was seven years old. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:33:00 They said that maybe I could get to 10 comedians on this show. It is super easy. Chris is wearing a collar shirt. I've never seen him in a collar shirt in my life. He looks ridiculous. I just woke up and I was drunk already and I woke up having a war trip. We were just ator trip, right? Well, yeah, I was playing with Neymar. Okay, you're playing with Neymar. Chris is trying to help him with the points.
Starting point is 01:33:31 You love Neymar, right? Okay, I have a question. You can stop it. I have a question. I was going to say, good retention on the video. You're waiting a long time for it. Yeah. So it's going to get a lot of views.
Starting point is 01:33:42 You just forgot to stop the first advice I give him, be sober. Well I wanna ask you two. You gotta be sober. You gotta know your shit. What do you do, like I'm sure you guys have performed places where people show up and they're like, oh I just wanna come up there and do a spot. What do you say, like what position was Chris in?
Starting point is 01:33:56 Like everything else in life, like everything else in life, I said to you I wanna be a piano player. And I was a really good piano player. Or I wanna be, I wanna get into, hey I wanna get into X Games. And I would say I was 20. You look at me and go, cool, I'll see you and I'll see you out there, but I can't help you. You got to do that 1000 times. It's like anything else. Like you got to, if you really want to be good at standup,
Starting point is 01:34:20 I'm not going to talk to you for at least five years. But do you let them go on your set? It's a weird question because Ryan Garcia is not pursuing standup. Ryan Garcia is one of the most famous people on the planet right now, and it's a funny thing. So it's not like Chris is like, yeah, I guess you're going to have stage time because you're going to be doing this in the next 10 years. No. It's funny. Fish out of water, cross pollination.
Starting point is 01:34:40 Yeah, that's all it is. You need to get views. I'm sure Ryan just wanted to, he's fucking around. He's a good guy. He's silly. He wanted to try it out. But need to get views, you know? I'm sure Ryan just wanted to, you know, he's fucking around. He's a good guy. He's silly. He wanted to try it out. But Chris couldn't say no, right? No, he could say no.
Starting point is 01:34:51 That was my real question. Could you be like, I don't want to do this. Oh yeah. For sure. Like if you were there too, it would still be funny. You're in the mood to laugh. It's still cool. It's still a good fight.
Starting point is 01:35:00 And I guarantee you when Ryan got off, Chris destroyed that room. So it's not like it was a bad show and Ryan's up there for an hour. I held this video maybe six minutes. I was six minutes, it's fun for the crowd. He's probably like, give Ryan a hand. He never goes on stage again. Like that was a fun thing.
Starting point is 01:35:15 That's it. He did it with the perfect person, Chris. It also depends on that person too. Like he was really good at telling stories. Brendan could tell a long story, you know. That's why what happened was Rogan goes, that guy's funny. And I was like, yeah, I know, dude, I don't hang out with him because of his big muscles. I mean, I do, but I don't.
Starting point is 01:35:29 I'm half gay, but still I don't. And I was like, we hang, he's funny. And then that's when we would do those live shows, we'd have like 1200 people out there. And I would always pretend to be late and he would go out and I'd be like, just tell a story. Just fucking start telling a story. And that was stand up. like he was telling stories, but he was a good storyteller.
Starting point is 01:35:47 And it was what he wanted to do, and he'd been doing it for a long time with people in bars. If you have that already, then we can talk. I bet you he could do it. Ryan Gassi could do a good job, because he has stories and he has enough popularity that if he made fun of himself a little bit,
Starting point is 01:36:03 people would definitely laugh at it. Yeah. But it's just, he's a special guy. I mean, I don't, you know, I would never say, yeah, if he, yeah, if he had story, if he talked about like steroids, if he's like, I ate one Mexican taco, you know, like you can talk about Canelo or something like that. Oscar Delahoya. He's like, yeah, I get it. I look bad up here. I'm not Oscar Delahoya bad. You know, like the fans would have went nuts. Yes. And that would have gone so viral. Yeah. But Chris, again,
Starting point is 01:36:24 but the problem is Chris, the perfect guy and the worst guy cuz Chris doesn't know shit about fighting Like Ryan should have got up there and roasted Oscar de la Hoya that would have done so viral Yeah, and there's so much material there Good point What else you got? We got a funny little clip with the fourth of July coming up Why here's like actual customer out here We got a funny little clip with the Fourth of July coming up. Turn the sound on. This one? Yeah. Why? Here's an actual customer out here. What's the best kind of firework to buy?
Starting point is 01:36:52 Wouldn't you like to know, Weather Boy? Where are your parents? Kid sketchy. Back to you guys. Kid sketchy. Was that planned, do you think? I don't know that yet. I think it was. That had to have been weather boy? Was that planned do you think? I don't know that you had a little bit. I think it was. That had to have been right? It was good acting though.
Starting point is 01:37:12 That guy seems pissed though. What's the best kind of firework to buy? Wouldn't you like to know weather boy? Where are your parents? Yeah that kid. That's acting. The kid was really good at acting though, because usually you'd sound a bit more,
Starting point is 01:37:28 it'd sound a bit more robotic. So it sounded pretty legit. I'm making a call right now, that's his son. You think? Yep. Well, no, that'd be too easy to find out. He wouldn't use his son, right? I bet you that's not his son. I don't know how the fuck we'd figure that out
Starting point is 01:37:40 and make the podcast screeching halt, but I think it'd be too- This is actually the Weather Boy's son. It was a skit they said. Oh, yeah. Come on, boy. Come on. Good call.
Starting point is 01:37:51 We're gonna believe that guy? No, that's what it is. I can see it. That's why I said, I mean, I can just see them setting that up. Yeah, all right, son. You wanna be famous? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:03 Yeah, that's weird. Yeah. He's, you had to take the fucking fun and I take the fun out of it, didn't you? But yeah, that's what it is. Sorry to piss on everybody's forget. It went viral. It went viral though. You know, like you did what they wanted to do.
Starting point is 01:38:13 It worked. Yeah, you can just see, like we used to do this thing in acting school when like you see something and you just go like this, you go, don't quite believe it. I don't know why, I don't quite believe it. That's why like the greatest actors, they don't look like they're acting. You know why? You know how you define a great actor't quite believe it. I don't know why, I don't quite believe it. That's why the greatest actors, they don't look like they're acting.
Starting point is 01:38:26 You know why you need to find a great actor? You believe them. No matter what they do, you always believe them no matter what. And sometimes you'll see something and you'll be like, I just don't quite. It's like seeing, I'm sorry, but it's like seeing a man who used to be a woman.
Starting point is 01:38:41 I mean a woman who used to be a man. You could just go, my friend was on a date with a transcendent, like a full, full op. And there was just something and I looked at my buddy and I go, bro, what's up man? He goes, I don't know. I go, do you think that's it? Was that used to be a guy? And he's like, I think it might be. What gave it away? The size 13 shoe. Just a huge deck. Yeah. What else you get to, but fire, uh, fireplace, uh, firework places are popping up. Like I drove to, um, where was I?
Starting point is 01:39:14 I was in a Fontana yesterday, dropping off some car shit. And there was a bunch of firework places popping up, which they're illegal in LA County, but outside you can get all sorts. That's awesome. In Australia, it's illegal. Is it? Oh, illegal. Yeah. You guys, like Australia's tough. No guns. It's so gnarly. COVID, you guys were. I could have, I thought, I thought we're sweet. I thought we're a bunch of bogans, mate. We'll do anything. Like we're chilling. And then COVID happened. And I'm like, what's going on? What's going on? And then everyone- They were locked down for three years. Even in America, they're like, what's going on? What's going on? What's going on? And then everyone, Everyone's been there for three years.
Starting point is 01:39:45 Even in America, they're like, usually they're confused. Like, well, I thought these guys were like, cause we seem crazy. Yeah. Plus there's all this land, it's not like you guys are on top of each other. Yeah. It was dying.
Starting point is 01:39:55 You guys were masked forever. And you had to like stay in a hotel for two weeks, like by yourself in confinement. If you were gone. Dan Hooker and Izzy had to train like old school days, like underground, It was illegal. So they couldn't like tell people or post anything. How's the blowback been from that Australia?
Starting point is 01:40:09 It's like, that's all good or what? I'd lose my fucking mind. We just, we just like, we're pretty old. We're all like a tight knit group. So we just kind of all just do it. There's not like a left and a right. It's not like we're not going to do it. We're doing it.
Starting point is 01:40:23 It changed our political landscape. Yeah. It changed everybody. In Australia, it's kind of like, we'll do it. We'll doing it. Changed our political landscape. Yeah. It changed everybody in Australia. It's kind of like, we're all do it. We'll just do it together because it's all for everyone. And then like, there was like 10% of people that were like, what are we doing? And then the mob, the large percentage was just like in for it. So it was like, everyone just did it. But yeah, I like that.
Starting point is 01:40:40 Not us. No. And then, and then you trust in the government. Now it's like people, the trust in government's out the window. That's crazy. And people are like, they faked a moon landing. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:51 They start jumping off. Everything's a lie. Yep. And I'm one of those people. All right. What do you got, Jen? Well, porch pirates are taking it to a new level, guys. This is video from a Sacramento house.
Starting point is 01:41:01 And look at how this guy steals the package. In Sacramento, so desperate to steal the package, they pretended to be a bag of trash. No, I cannot do this. Look at this right here. Is this a Looney Tunes fucking? And it shows the person crouched underneath the door. That's not sketchy at all. I bet he was sweating his ass off in there.
Starting point is 01:41:24 That's somebody who's not all there or it's a kid. Boy's a genius. Yeah. Cause you can't get caught though. That's the thing. Yeah, that's the thing. What are you going to do?
Starting point is 01:41:33 He's like, this is either really stupid or really smart. Depends if they got caught. It's like that Pac-Man fucking thing from back in the 80s. You guys are too young. Nevermind. You're talking about the ghost, right? Oh, the ghost. You took him out as the ghost? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:46 I don't know. Ah dude. Get younger bro. Damn it. What else you got? We got this one. So Justin Timberlake got a DUI guys. And the part I find amazing is the cop who pulled him over didn't know who he was. Do you see the cop pulls him over
Starting point is 01:42:02 and he's on the body cam and he goes and Justin goes, ah it's going to ruin my tour. And you know the guy has no over and it's on the body cam and he goes and Justin goes ah It's gonna ruin my tour and that you know, the guy has no clue is some young guy goes what tour and Justin goes My world tour. He's like get the fuck in Yeah, and then people are mad at that guy now they're like, yeah, they're like you didn't mean to the cop He's like what I'm doing my job, man That's always a pretty Justin hit the stage like the next night and was looking pretty litty. Have you seen this?
Starting point is 01:42:29 Yeah. Like the next day he still made his like live show. You know. I mean the mugshot, he doesn't look sober. Well that makes sense, it's a mugshot. But the next day at the fucking live venue, it's like, hey, hey, hey, get some safety shutters. I'm sober the fuck up there.
Starting point is 01:42:45 Yeah. I know. Well, I guess his tour wasn't selling as well. That was a big thing. Oh, I didn't hear that. Yeah. His tour is not selling well. Might do better now. Yeah. Maybe.
Starting point is 01:42:56 I'd go see JT. Yeah. Yeah. But it apparently was selling way under expectations. Who told you this? This is his solo tour? It's the whole thing on the news. but it apparently was selling way under expectations. Who told you that? This is his solo tour? It's the whole thing on the news. Do you ever have someone that's like a friend in there,
Starting point is 01:43:10 if something happens, like maybe you have to wait for in a line at a nightclub or something, and you have a friend, they're like, but this guy's this. No, dude. And you're like, you're like, ugh! Yeah, please don't do that. You're like, this guy, this guy's in Nitro Circus,
Starting point is 01:43:22 you should see how many followers he has. I'm like, ugh! Yeah, please don't. And then Like this guy, he's got a Nitro circus. You should see how many followers he has. I'm like, oh God. And then you just say like, I was just like, oh man, just don't do that. That's always so brutal when the person's like, no, I don't. Yeah, when I first got the UFC, my buddies would do it. We'd be at that line in the club and they're like,
Starting point is 01:43:37 yo, UFC, the guy's like, what? It just hurts your feelings. Yeah. Please don't do that. Trust me, if you knew who I was, we'd be in the club, man. Please don't do that. How about being an acting as long as I have? Do you know this guy? I've never seen him.
Starting point is 01:43:49 It's all good, man. Or the worst is when someone says- I'm going to fist myself in the corner. Or the worst is when someone says, where do I know you from? And then it goes girlfriend. Well, that's my whole life. Then it goes girlfriend. Babe, do you know this guy?
Starting point is 01:44:02 And they're like, no. And you're just sitting there like, I don't know. What was cool, like, yes, I was on the scooter with my nephew and a couple cars, you know, kind of said some stuff. And my nephew kept going, do you know him? I was like, no, and he gets so excited. He's like, you know, that's kind of fun, but that's about the limit of my,
Starting point is 01:44:16 but most of the time it's like, do you fly this airline a lot? No. Where do I know you from? I'll have to explain to you my resume now. But you get recognized, don't you get? Yeah, here and there. Another awkward moment is when you get recognized
Starting point is 01:44:30 and the person's like, they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, get a photo. And then you get a photo and then there's like a bunch of other people around and they're like, who are you? And then they're like, oh, sorry, I don't know who you are. And I'm like, I don't know who you are either. Or they go, can I get a phone you take and you're like,
Starting point is 01:44:46 who are you? And I'm like, yeah. Dude, I got recognized. I got fucking very famous person and they were really talking to me a lot. And I was like, this is wild and this is really cool. And they were famous. And I was like, you kind of feel like
Starting point is 01:45:01 maybe I've made it a little bit. And I'm not exaggerating about this. I thought I was Joe, you kind of feel like maybe I've made it a little bit. And I'm not exaggerating about this. I thought I was Joe Rogan. This was probably, probably seven or eight years ago, nine years ago, but it was like that he wasn't in the ecosystem. And so for whatever reason, I was like, I'm not that that's not who you're talking to, dude, let's take a little break. Let's take a little a little break cuz it's June bro. And what are we doing in June old man? Fishing at the end of June the three of us in here about to catch us some fish Sportsman's Cove lodge. I can't wait dude. We're headed to Alaska East Alaska. Check the end of June to early July and then early July, mid July. They got a bunch of dates for you guys, but it's going fast. Tony Hawk has a funny one.
Starting point is 01:46:23 Tony Hawk, they had one. he always talks about on podcasts. He always says like, someone that people always ask him, oh, they always say, you look like that Tony Hawk guy from the video game. And he's always just like, yeah, I get that a lot. Oh, gosh. Oh, gosh. You look like that Tony Hawk guy.
Starting point is 01:46:38 When I was with Tim Tebow a lot, I mean, you realize levels of fame. You know, like I probably took, I don don't know 5,000 pictures of him and fans Yeah, like oh what's up? I has it's like a letter. Can you take our picture? I know down click I got really good at it. I was just a camera holder. There's like a level that's good There's like a level that's cool cuz it kind of you find some opportunities and then there's a level that's like bad It's like I remember how the husband he got like go anywhere without just he's done Being like cuz he's he just stands out from the crowd. So instantly like everyone's my thing
Starting point is 01:47:10 Imagine that girl that huck to girl. Yeah, like imagine she's just some normal college girl doing her thing and now she can't go anywhere It's not like she has this set of skills or not. It was like, oh, you're the girl but sucking dick, right? And like that's your thing. Yeah, and you go from Obscure to fucking you can't go anywhere. I don't think she must be like fuck that'll go away But if you're Adam Sandler or you're Rogan, it's over. It's so crazy. It's beyond what people can imagine It's like literally groups of people following around what the chili Malibu chili cook off I know you say that There's probably a lot of chicks that like but look similar to her though and
Starting point is 01:47:47 they probably get mistaken. Hopefully yeah. Wow. Yeah. But when you don't ask for it and it comes like fuck dude. Because you probably feel weird type of way because you have no skill. You know it's not like you burned it and you're famous for a reference to sucking dick. That'll go away. You got your dad like you're out with the dinner with your dad, you're the, you're the Hawk Two girl, right? And she's all, I'm with my dad. I got a tattoo. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:11 I brought the shirt, you know? It's like, the dad's like, what's happening? Imagine if the dad doesn't know, he's like, why are all these people coming to you? Like, I went viral, for what? Watches the videos, like, motherfucker. That's what you're doing with Jeff at night, you know? God. What else you got, Jen? with Jeff at night, you know? God.
Starting point is 01:48:25 What else you got, Jen? Any ones? Yeah, we got another one. Woody Harrelson, guys, apparently has not had a cell phone in three years. God bless him. Yeah, I don't know, I saw this, I don't know if I believe it. I believe it.
Starting point is 01:48:36 He says he only used it to text. I believe it. I'd be the exact same. If I make a certain amount of money, you know I've made it because you won't be able to get a hold of me. Ted Danson apparently called him out on a podcast recently about it. I don't know, could you, I certain amount of money, you'll know I've made it because you won't be able to get ahold of me. Ted Danson apparently called him out on a podcast recently about it. I don't know, could you, I mean, could you,
Starting point is 01:48:49 how do you not have a phone though? It'd be so nice. It'd be so nice. It'd be so nice to set the fuck away from me. Connect your phone, how much time you waste on your fucking phone. I'm old and I have to do this. I catch mine on TikTok.
Starting point is 01:49:00 Shut up, I'm telling you buddy. It's like, you know how much you waste of a time? But everyone succumbs to it, it's just there. You're clicking I'll tell you buddy. It's like, you know what you're a waste of a time? Like, but everyone's, everyone succumbs to it. It's just there. Oh my God. You're clicking, there's so much info. It's like, what the fuck? I feel like the gnarliest thing is like the iPad kids.
Starting point is 01:49:13 They're like, they're just like on the iPad 24 seven. That's gnarly. Bad parenting, cause it's easy if you're at dinner, just give the kid an iPad cause they shut the fuck up and you don't have to worry about them. But the real parents that know, the hell no, that thing's fucking, that's crap. Go to the, let's end on Matthew Stafford's wife.
Starting point is 01:49:32 This is insane to me. This is a great one, guys. Have you seen this? No. This is where like, she's on a podcast and she just, and I feel bad for her because she's on a podcast, she's talking to her friend, her friends, she's like, yeah, so me and Matthew,
Starting point is 01:49:49 we broke up and then to make him jealous, I started fucking the backup quarterback and it made him really jealous and then he saw him. And they were roommates and then she doesn't know. She doesn't know the way it works. She goes, and they're roommates and then Matthew was like, never again. And then, you know, we have kids and you're like,
Starting point is 01:50:05 oh, you have no idea what you just did to your husband. Like now you just go in the locker room. And like, this is the narrative now. Oh, wow. Let me see. That's his wife? Yeah. Gorgeous. Yeah. She says, long story short, it wasn't that cute of a relationship at first.
Starting point is 01:50:21 I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off, which worked. All right. She's on a podcast. She goes into on the podcast. That's a summary. Yeah. Just talking. Yeah. What are you doing though? I agree. The fuck are you doing? I agree. They live in the same dorm because athletes live in the same dorms. He would see my car there. You know, he would see my car there getting fucked. At one point he waited and followed me to my car and he wouldn't get out.
Starting point is 01:50:46 He was like, he's not right for you. I was like, you can tell me that. Get the fuck out of my car. Meanwhile, he's dating like 12, 10 supermodels. Yeah, but you know what? Fuck it, they're married now. They made it work. Who cares?
Starting point is 01:50:58 Water under the bridge. My thing is though, there can only be one podcast on the house. There can only be one headshot for this exact reason. Like you have any idea, like your husband's like, hey, what the fuck? And then the kids, and then now this is gone viral. When two people wanna be famous
Starting point is 01:51:14 or two people are looking for that, the two people are vying for that, there's no room. Nothing drove him more nuts than Steph Curry's wife. The fuck? What'd she do? Oh dude, she was like, it's so annoying because you know, Steph gets all the attention, y'all. Hey!
Starting point is 01:51:28 Hey, you don't! What?! You're like, you know about this greatest shooter of all time? Yeah! Well, you take pictures in yoga pants. He's the greatest shooter of all fucking time, ladies. Is that what you said? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:51:40 I don't know. It's wild, man. Or how about Jada Pink and Will Smith? Oh, yeah. The fuck?! Yeah, yeah, yeah. The guy from Fresh Prince and you can do a red table talk It's about your fucking other guys and or talking about to pocket is that all the time like crying on his birthday? Hey, how much attention do you need? Yeah, but with her it's like man. You got kids involved in it It's like what are you doing? You know what though at the end at the end of the day?
Starting point is 01:52:03 I always say though They've still, it's like, what are you doing? You know what though, at the end of the day, I always say though, they've still made it work. Like Jada Pinkett Smith, say whatever you want, and Will Smith, still together, still doing it. That's a big accomplishment. Oh, I disagree. I think it's absolute fucking firestorm in their house, and they're miserable.
Starting point is 01:52:16 Yeah, maybe, but they're still together. They're still making it work. They still love that. No, to the public, they're still together. Man, I don't know. They're still not divorced. Yeah. Right? I guess that's a win. It is. See, I don't know. They're still not divorced. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 01:52:26 I guess that's a win. It is. See, I don't think it's a win being miserable. Listen, I agree with you on her. I don't think it's a win when you stay with someone and you're miserable and you're not divorced. Like it'd be a better win if they just went their separate fucking ways.
Starting point is 01:52:41 Like if you're in a marriage where your wife goes, hey I'm gonna start fucking this young guy and bring him on our family vacations, it's over. See ya. So but when you say, Get out of your fucking mind. But when you say at least they're still together, that's insane.
Starting point is 01:52:55 Yeah, that's brutal. Yeah, but I'm saying that whatever the case is, they could go off and they have plenty of money, they have plenty of options, but they're together still, so something's there. They're still glued there, what do you think? Why are you doing that, because you know something, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:53:08 I just think it's insane. Yeah. Well, if you're doing high, it is. Right, but. Even for them, it ruined his fucking life. Even before he slapped Chris Rock, he was the butt of every single joke for being a cock. Well, listen, you're right,
Starting point is 01:53:22 because she's airing their fucking life out on the table. Because she has no respect for it. So imagine that's on camera. Hey, you, see ya. Yeah, but be thinking about that's on camera. Michael Craig, that's true. So you think when the camera's down, you think she gets super friendly and she's making them dinner?
Starting point is 01:53:37 How about Ben Affleck with Jennifer Lopez walking? You see that baby just walking like, he looks like he's been, he literally looks like somebody's He went through training camp. Yes, yeah, been he literally looks like someone through training camp. Yes Yeah, like they just want to like, you know No in Game of Thrones when he walks through that thing like for shame and they're throwing shit at him and stuff like that That's what he looks like. He just came out of that and he's just like He's exhausted. There it is. Some people are breaking. That's it Right, I didn't get a word in
Starting point is 01:54:03 Yeah, I'll just listen to Dude but good luck this weekend, but you're the best. Ryan didn't get a word in. I was just listening. We're gossiping. We're chatty captives, dude. But good luck this weekend, bro. You're gonna kill it, man. Thank you. Yeah, I'm excited. I've got three events, so I'm doing dirt,
Starting point is 01:54:14 dirt best trick, and park best trick, and I did all right last year, so we'll give it another rip. So wait, dirt best trick? Dirt best trick is, so it's just one trick on any jump, and it's just like the biggest trick you could possibly do, but you only get like five attempts at it. And then dirt, it's like, there's I think about
Starting point is 01:54:30 four or five jumps in a row, and you just do your best tricks, but they all calculate to one score. And then park best tricks just on the park, like what they have at the Olympics, but it's just one trick instead of. What's the trick? When is it gonna air?
Starting point is 01:54:44 Oh, okay. You can't tell the competition, bro. It's not like this is the trick? When is it gonna end? Oh, I'm sorry, it's not like this is the trick you have to do, you are the one who does it and then that's how it goes. No, no, no, I'll do it, like if I tell you my trick that people might see and then that won't be a surprise. No, no, I'm sorry, I thought there was a move you had to hit. Oh, no, no, no, it's not like see what does that dance star? Quick he thought you're on a Harley Motorbike so tell us all your tricks. Yeah, you're so you were so high It's all right. I get it dude, but you know, he's like the one that the person that comes up after you've taken a photo. Yeah, what do you do?
Starting point is 01:55:26 I don't know Where do I know you? I actually don't know you say cool if I get a picture though. You're on the bike motorbike, right?
