Starting point is 00:00:00 And now the flop house movie minute. Okay, I got however many hours to build armor. Okay. Alright nerds. We're working for Poles. Sure. We all went to the New York Comic Con this year. Oh yeah, we wore press passes dude.
Starting point is 00:00:20 I did too. So Stuart, you and I went together. Yep. Elliott, you went the next day yeah now I can only assume that you went dressed in some sort of sexy cosplay outfit uh well pretty much yeah I was a Japanese character called Katakari who is a kind of a half-girl half-cat um who who like dresses like a sailor who works for the UPS that sounds like someone on the internet would find it erotic and hand letter writers
Starting point is 00:00:51 uh... i didn't go as any of that shit and uh... though i wish i did i actually had a family dinner that night so i was actually i was dressed nicer than usual oh weird so people thought that was your cost cosplay was dressing nicer than usual. They're like, oh, you're dressed up as someone with a job. People that were like, nerd, and you're dressed like, you're just like zombie Wolverine. That's one of my favorite costumes. The guy who I went, Wolverine, that's been done.
Starting point is 00:01:17 I'm such a big fan of the Marvel zombie series. I didn't see enough fat futuristic samurai, but wait, no, I saw a bunch of those. Do you see the girls who were just dressed like sluts, but not like characters? Yeah, that was interesting to me because I just like that school girl. I thought that was sort of an all-purpose thing that women can dress up as. Like they can dress up as that going to the club. They can dress up as that Halloween or going to school for Comic Con. Yeah, go into school or Comic Con.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah, I want to like those guys planning those guys who have the really fancy costumes. I bet there's like second Christmas for them or second Halloween I guess. Or Hanukkah. Or Hanukkah, my mistake. I will say that it's one of those things where it's like these people are king of the con like there was a guy in a stormtrooper costume and the 50 first Yeah, I think he was a member of the 50 first yeah, and he was constantly being stopped for people to have and I saw the same guy would get stopped
Starting point is 00:02:17 Three times are you sure it just wasn't different storm troopers because there was a shitload of five First guys some of them were different guys, but you would see the same guy get stopped for someone to take a picture with them Then seconds later someone else would come up and it was so popular I saw this a lot to have your picture taken on your knees with your hands behind your head with stormtrooper pointing his gun at your head and It's like I'm about to be why the fuck didn't we do that Dan? I'm sorry, but I saw I let the entrance the con there was a kid on his knees Hands behind his head stormtrooper the gun to him and his dad and it's a lot of the shot and the sort of a blue is head off
Starting point is 00:02:50 it was like this is great i'm glad i'm gonna have a picture of my kid with a gun news and although i wonder you know i'm saying that they're king of the con but last night when do you think they snap like at what point do they i would say suddenly become furious with the lesson for a few hours of the con when the javits center staff makes an announcement the javits center will be closing in two hours they go no no I won't go back I can't go back this is my life now. So you're saying that they love being photographed all the time. Oh yeah no they love the attention yet. I
Starting point is 00:03:20 just like to point out that the flop house does not have a problem with the 50 first. Oh no No, it would is making fun of the five if I had the time and fact This member the flop house doesn't even know what the 50 first is if I had the time and I didn't sweat profusely Even when I'm wearing a baseball cap view I would join immediately, but aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper? I saw Mark Texier like I used to use the Incase writer I saw my face. He looks weirder than I thought that's the thing That's one of the things I love about comic conventions is seeing what Convil creators look like and realizing their way older than you think they are like Steve Eptin who does Captain America now
Starting point is 00:03:59 Yeah, he I always think I'm like I'm not that familiar with his work. He's probably a young guy No, he's got a gray mustache gray hair Like you forget that these guys if they're in a big title I've probably been working in the industry for 20. I got a gray mustache, though. I'm not that old. You don't have a gray mustache Yeah, do back home Jar To a human face on the tip of your turn
Starting point is 00:04:21 Like you get the straightest joke I've ever heard you get to like Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman look like and it's like oh when I was a kid I was in love with characters created by a some sort of goth hippie monster biker and an accountant, you know that's kind of how I would imagine them to look like now movie wise though because this is a movie podcast yeah anything there we saw the incredible Hulk whole panel panel and Tim Roth was there I'm looking pain whiskey looking pained at all the comic con convention years just standing up and being like I loved you and reservoir dogs that first seen in pulp fiction is the most awesome thing in the world And it's just like yeah, thanks. Thanks. That was a movie. I was in well He was also I I remember years ago,
Starting point is 00:05:06 he said he was not going to make another violent movie like that because of the epidemic of violence maintained. So I wonder if he's ashamed of having made those movies. Yeah, I don't know. The plan of the Apes remake, I'm sure he wanted to talk about for hours. Sure.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Or I think being asked questions like, is this going to be, is this Hulk movie movie to be a lot more like the comic books uh... uh... oh no luke for igno's right behind you yet you for igno's here i would have you in the field ten dollars per signature the the uh... the director was there too you seem to really really let let let her in the air the air in the transport the
Starting point is 00:05:45 yeah yeah yeah get a married care he made the transport movies oh perfect health material yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:05:53 did you see any panels or anything like that fortunately i was there on a sunday because i couldn't get there in the previous days so i missed most of the good panels and i missed the one panel on sunday that i wanted to
Starting point is 00:06:02 see but i did see a lot of movie merchandise around whole stuff Iron Man stuff, some kind of 3D animated movie called Igor, I don't know what that was about. Oh, all sorts of wondrous things. Well, because this is a movie minute and not a special supplementary episode all about Comic Con, we should wrap it up, but I did want to ask what everyone's favorite thing they saw or heard Comic Con we should wrap it up but I did want to ask what everyone's favorite thing they saw or heard
Starting point is 00:06:25 Comic Con was and I'll say that mine was as Stuart mentioned Lou Ferigno was a special guest and Earlier in the con I overheard a very excitable young man go. I told you he's here He's here And I enjoyed that very much. Yeah, that was awesome. I think my favorite thing was seeing about 47 different narudos that the Japanese... There were a lot of narudos. Yeah, of all various shapes and sizes. So I really like seeing all those little narudos around.
Starting point is 00:07:01 What are narudos? It's some kind of Japanese character with like shitain on his face and crazy hair and a weird like bandana. It was, it sounded like, come on. Okay, very tough. And before I get to what my two favorite things were, I did, Will says I saw the trailer for The Spirit. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:18 The other person that, and it seems like Frank Miller who's directing it is going about it in the exact wrong way, which is to make it a second-since city movie and not kind of a fun mad cap You know crime adventure. Sure, but anyway, that's precisely the point take that Frank Miller My two favorite two most memorable moments were meeting Mike Diana the only man who's ever been imprisoned for his comic book work and Who is it seemed like a strange fellow and draws things that I had that if I if it's one of the things where if I read one of his books as a kid I probably would have had nightmares to this day about it and then being shaken by that and then walking away and seeing hearing ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta and wave after wave of lightsaber fighters coming up on stage at the back of the hall as this huge audience of people sitting down applauded and cheered and being like, oh, okay, good there is hope in the world again. There is a brightness there are lightsabers. There is a
Starting point is 00:08:16 set all of us. There is a Jedi night tournament force that shows up the Comic Con and fake fights. I think fake fight isn't injustice. They're real lightsaber. Well, I think the moral of this story is the sort of guys who would do a podcast about bad movies. I don't know if the sort of guys who would go to New York Comic Con with press passes. It's too much for me. I mean, I know about you guys.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I do work in the press. I had a legitimate press pass, even though we would never cover that in a million years. And I felt really cool. Our legitimacy. I will tell you the press passes were far easier to get this year than they have in past years. In the past years, they had your name and where you worked on them. This year just had a number on it. So you could just hand it out to anybody. And here's the press pass for me, I heard. Two of my co-workers went and they're... Foring!
Starting point is 00:09:08 Their forms had been lost, they had to fill out new forms while they were there. And my co-worker told me that while she was filling out a form a guy went, excuse me, you were supposed to have a press pass for me? I'm from aquafan.vlogspot.com, I guess an aquaman, fan site or something like that. And she goes, oh, can you spell that out we'll get the paper work for you together ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Okay, let's see. I can't find out. Okay, it looks like aquafand.blogspot.com is underwater sex experience.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Has anyone tried it yet? There's only one post here, guys, and it's just asking if anybody's had sex underwater, and if it was awesome or something? Yeah, this is really weird.
