Hello and welcome to Ask Dr. Hazel, our mini episodes where I answer a question from our audience. So let's hear from this week's listener. Hi Hazel, when should my period
Starting point is 00:00:43 return if I stop taking the pill and what should I do if it doesn't? Thank you so much for your question. Just a really quick disclaimer that the information provided here is for informational purposes only and should not be taken as medical advice or replace that of your usual healthcare provider. So in theory, stopping the pill periods should return within four weeks but not everyone will find this. I would say that it's reasonable to wait for about three months for it to return and if it doesn't return by then it would be wise to go see your doctor and explore some reasons why. Now depending on how long it's been they may want to do some investigations to see if the pill has been masking any underlying conditions such as PCOS or amenorrhea it's also really important
Starting point is 00:01:32 for me to say that you can still get pregnant as soon as you come off the pill so it's really important to use another form of contraception if you do stop and don't wish to get pregnant I hope that answers your question and it's been helpful that's all from me see you again next time
