It's Frank off the radio. It's the Franks' going to podcast, don't you know? Everybody's a dreamer and everybody's a star.
Starting point is 00:01:14 And everybody's in movies. It doesn't matter who you are. This is a Frank Off the Radio. I'm me. And I'm joined by Emily Dean. We all are. Well, actually, there's some people I dispute that. I'm joined by Emily Dean and Ruth Hosco.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Follow the podcast on X and Instagram more. You can email the podcast via Frank off the radio at Avalon UK.com. You can WhatsApp us on, oh, on one of the... I nearly forgot, yeah, we had jingles. You can WhatsApp us on... Oh, 7457-4-7-4-17-769. Yeah. That one's probably the best for remembering the number,
Starting point is 00:01:59 even if it is a little kids TV, CDUK. Even if it's the worst in every other aspect. Yeah, you've said it now. I felt that was a bit in Spiral Carpets' 90s. Yes. The Wonder Stuff. Inspired. Mm.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Okay. I'm going to go with you on that. Thanks. Yeah. Okay. So look. Sorry, I bought it up. No, no.
Starting point is 00:02:26 It's okay. He's got a previous with a spiral carpet. I don't really know in spiral carpet stuff. I'm a little lost. I know a bit of it. of that, it's more my era if you don't mind me saying. And I know charlatans. Do you know charlatans, Frank?
Starting point is 00:02:40 I remember I won't. You've worked with a few. I have. Yeah, Bobby Charlotton. Jackie Charlotton. That would be great. There was a family of well, though. Fakers.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Anyway, so speaking of football. Oh, yeah. I blame Wonder War. It's clearly unlucky. I mean, I think Noel wrote for his partner of the time and they split it all. It didn't while.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Then he had a big argument with his brother. It's a fucking monkey's poor. England should have kept well away, but now, no, they knew best. They wouldn't listen. So that went wrong. I tell you what I did think, I thought, what would be so brilliant
Starting point is 00:03:21 and would be a moment I would savour until, I used to say things, I'll remember this for the rest of my life. Yeah, and I think it's optimistic. I might not remember my close family. You know, we all end up like, there's dangers of that. But wouldn't it have been fantastic? If when the England team had gone up to the fans at the end,
Starting point is 00:03:44 the fans had sang, don't look back in anger. Oh, why didn't they do that? It would have been, oh, man, so brilliant. That would have been a great ending to it. Anyway, it was that we are no longer in the World Cup. It's over. It's a bit devastating. Well, you know, to be fair, it's not the first time that Germany has prevented us from winning a major trophy.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Just so in the old days, they used to come Marba-handed. Now they've sent a sort of lone wolf agent hiding in plain sight. Frank, do you know what I decided my favourite moment of the entire World Cup has been was when Mark Pugatch was interviewing Roy Keene, Gary Nguyen, Neville and Ian Wright. We once did a thing me and Dave Bedeel on a podcast where we talked, we were on a boat going to Robben Island. Do you know that?
Starting point is 00:04:43 Yes, I remember when you did that. And it was me and Dave, Graham Taylor and Mark Pugatch, and we said what would the ranking be in the... If you went down. Yeah. And anyway, we ended up, I don't know we got this. I don't even remember it was said it, but talking about... We were so terrified
Starting point is 00:05:01 you could see Mark Pugatch has a dark poo patch. Oh my God. How did that go down with it? I don't know if we ever contact. It's harder to contact people in those days. Anyway, my favourite moment, Mark Pugatch, this is before the France's main game.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Mark Pugatch is interviewing, has Roy Keeney and Wright, you know, the usual suspects, Gary Neville. And you know when they bring a social. celebrity on. So, Don, we've now got Brian Cox, the actor, not the professor. He's a big football fan, you know. And he sits down, they have a sort of slightly awkward interview
Starting point is 00:05:40 because the footballers don't know how to be with the talent. It's a bit weird. He's more sort of intellectual, Brian Cox, and they're a bit frightened of him, I think. Yeah, I'd be frightened of him. He is quite frightening. And then Mark Pugatch, I don't know if he had to fill. I don't know why he did this, but he said... He slapped Brian Cox across the fight.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Just out of the blue. He didn't even put, you know, he still had these script in one hand. No, what he did, to my mind was worse. He turned round to Roy Kean and said, Roy, is there anything you'd like to ask, Brian? Now, if you were going to go for support to anyone on that panel, right would be my first choice.
Starting point is 00:06:22 You know, he's friendly, he's up for it. Then Gary, not Roy. and Roy did exactly what I predicted he would do he went, no, you're all right, thanks. On live TV. The trouble is to that. It feels like an insult to Brian Cox, doesn't it? And there was sort of an awkward laugh.
Starting point is 00:06:39 It was awful, but it was fabulous. What if they brought the astronomer Brian Cox on after the Argentina game? You know, he has that perpetual smile, that sort of wistful, faraway smile. Why does he smile all the time frame? You know, he's making a living from a... Doing maths.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Oh, yeah. He's taken with the wonders of the universe. He is, yeah. Oh, man, he fucking loves the wonders of the universe. He's mad for it. Marry if you love him so much. Yeah, exactly. I, um, then they'd all be called cocks, though.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Just get what he wants then. You know, that's what he's after. He can come on this podcast. Football cox. The one thing that did piss me off was Everyone's been going on about Thomas Tuchel or as White really calls him Thomas Tushel. Why does he do that, Frank?
Starting point is 00:07:34 Thomas Tushel. And I thought, Wayne, you must have heard other people saying his name. In your job, someone else will have mentioned Thomas Tuchel. And you would have thought, oh, Tuchel. He's never... Also, much more scouts, Tuchel. But don't you find generally, there are people who, like,
Starting point is 00:07:54 I mean, I think I've got it with Star Wars. You have. Star Wars, thanks a lot. Why don't people hear, I mean, but him to not, to be saying Thomas Torshal. It's, I had, anyway. And he said, they came, because what pissed me off last night is Thomas Tuchel has become famous for doing hard-hitting, be totally honest interview. So we didn't play well enough, we didn't follow up.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Last night when it was totally his fucking fault where we got knocked out the World Cup. I thought this a bit, he can come on now and say, well, I've criticised the players, but actually I made a major tactical. I lost my nerve. Went too defensive. I'm sorry. It would have been. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:40 But no, he said something, no, the man, the coach must take the responsibility. And I thought, that's not you to think. That's some sort of abstract idea. But anyway. That's like, I'm sorry you feel that way. Oh, I love I'm sorry you feel that way. But he was a saying, he was a saying, didn't he say Frank at one point? I'm sorry if that offended you.
Starting point is 00:08:58 At one point he said no regrets. Oh no, yeah. I thought, well, whatever he did. Yeah, you know regret by you are. I always want to hear that. What's that the one? There's no regret. Who sang that?
Starting point is 00:09:13 Brian Ferry, isn't it? No, I don't think so. Oh, no, you're right. It's not. We only. Oh, I'm going to remember who that is by the end of the show. And I'm not going to Google. No, it's more modern.
Starting point is 00:09:23 And I'll remember it, no Google. by the end of the show. Anyway, they came back from one of his criticising the players interviews, Thomas Tushel. And Wynne Rooney said, well, I say one thing for Tushel it doesn't take any prisoners.
Starting point is 00:09:38 And I thought, I wish you had used that price. I may let it go now. Forgive and forget. I've been calling him Thomas Tush. I like to shorten things. Yeah. Oh, Tom. Did you see that everyone fancies him?
Starting point is 00:09:58 Yes, apparently he's got a massive female fan base, yeah. Well, it might be male as well, but I know the women have been out of droids. I didn't know that. They like him. I think it's vibe-based. What does that mean, though? I think it's authority. His aura, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:14 I mean, it might be his physicality as well. He's slim. Yeah. Because I... Well, you're easily pleased. Is there anything else you want an app? He's so insulting. What attracted you to your husband?
Starting point is 00:10:27 He's slim. Yeah, but, you know, when I walk the street side, it seems like a real unique. Oh, God. I mean, I'm a skinny blow. When he got frightened last night at the end of the Argentina. He did get frightened, Frank, didn't you? Yeah, I thought, you know, it happens to us thin, blokes.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I think I should do this, but I'm too thin. I'm just too thin. I can't pull it off. Do you think he got scared? I think he did. We all get scared sometimes because some of us aren't paying millions not to get scared
Starting point is 00:10:58 but we don't want to dwell on that. My feeling at the moment is I don't want to win the Euros because I don't want to give him the pleasure but that will pass of course. I'll do you what, did, I watched the game at David Badeo. Oh, was Ezra there?
Starting point is 00:11:17 He even congratulated me when we lost. What did he say? We established recently. We established recently, and I love this, that David Orr says individually, well done, Frank, well on Ezra, well done, Elin. And he congratulated you. Yeah, I think just for staying the course. And was Ezra there? Because last time, Ezra Badil wore a dressing gown.
Starting point is 00:11:37 No, this time, Ezra sent a photograph and suggesting he wasn't in the photo, but the photo included on the table next to his cocktail, a Panama hat. So I think he might have worn that. What I'm now calling, he's on Locky Panama hat. Especially as Panama was in the World Cup. Yeah. I mean, sort yourself out. Well, I've watched the Norway game with David Badeal. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:12:03 At our mutual friend Jonathan Rossus' house. And he's lovely to watch the football with. I will give him that. Although, does he do this with you, Frank? I've noticed with food. Like, you know what Jonathan's like? He's very Tudor King. All the sweets and the food is laid out.
Starting point is 00:12:19 And there was a massive, massive bar of Tobol. Lauren, and I thought I'm having that. So I just broke it. I know Jonathan won't mind. One of those like an airport. Yeah, that's what Jonathan just puts on the chair for us. Like, just in case you fancy. They're very handy if you park on a hill.
Starting point is 00:12:38 I always keep one of those for my aim. So anyway, I broke it open. And David, I could, you know, I could sense his little eyes looking, darting over at me. Like there was a sense of injustice. I was eating. And then he went, I'd actually like some of that. but it was the actually I found...
Starting point is 00:12:56 Did he think you was going to eat it all? Well, I was. No, but he just... It was interesting that he didn't wait. He was concerned that the offer wouldn't come. So he said, I'd actually like some of that. Yeah, well, he does get food envy. Oh, is that what it is?
Starting point is 00:13:11 When we go out for a meal, he'll often really be staring at my meal saying, I should have had that. He actually says, I should have gone for that. And I don't really, I don't enjoy it. It's like I've done something wrong. You know what I mean? Yeah, I find myself becoming cowed by it.
Starting point is 00:13:29 You know, you only tell a dog off, sort of hold their head down a bit, their ears go back. I'll get like that. I didn't know. I didn't know mine would be nicer. Do you ever offer him a little bit? Throw a bit like you throw. Oh, like I do with Ray.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I'll let him have a taste. It's like when I feed Ray with David, give him a little toebrine. I'll let him have a taste. I did the Bill Murray again last time. I'm doing a lot of warm-up gigs. And this is a comedy pub. It's a comedy pub. And the woman who works there said to me,
Starting point is 00:14:05 you're going to watch the match tonight? About England and Argentina. And I said, yeah, yeah, I'll watch it. Do you want England to win? And I thought, this is the indelible impression I have left on the continent. of the public. asking Frank Skiller
Starting point is 00:14:27 if he wants England to win. Yeah, exactly. I'd love it if you said, do you know what? I'd really been a difference in this. I'd love how to do it. It's a comedy pub as well. It's not like I just met someone at an allotment. It's a comedy pub.
Starting point is 00:14:42 You're going to watch the match tonight? What for fuck, nothing? I didn't. I just said yes. Oh dear. Well, Frank, it's sad, isn't it? But how can you make us feel better, Frank? Well, you always make me feel better at times like this when England lose. He does me.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Things were back put in perspective when I walked back to my house. I could see an England fan standing right in my gateway, in an England shirt and everything. I thought, oh, oh, quite a big bloke as well. Yeah. I bet you pardon. That was me. Now, you used to do the other. Yeah, you do the back entrance. I've heard that.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Oh, Frank, don't fool in. Don't bowl off the arm to me. Order. Don't bowl under arm. So anyway, I thought, oh, what's this? Is this in your front garden? Yeah. So he's literally standing inside my front garden.
Starting point is 00:15:40 So I said, all right. And he said, oh, sorry, Frank. I didn't mean to start. You know, I'm a bit, you know, a bit gotted. Oh. I said, okay. And he stepped out. and he said the end of the game
Starting point is 00:15:56 there wasn't a single Arsenal player on the pitch and I thought oh God thank God we've gone we've gone club football again we can all relax yeah exactly that was to be we've gone parochial yeah it's a much safer place to be playing yeah and I said yeah I know that was terrible it was tough for us they were tired you see we were tired we've done too well very tired done a whole season All right, darling. My favourite bit of the World Cup, thanks for asking, was the cuts to Mick Jagger.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Yes, I loved that. I couldn't read. He had a slogan on his baseball cap. Oh, did it? Did he? I couldn't read what it was. I do love the people, the random people. We had some Sesk Fabragas sitting next to Altson Fenger. There was a Norwegian chess player. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:52 David sent me and he said, I've identified who this is. I didn't recognise. Magnus Carlson. Magnus Carlson. Did you see the Walker's advert? Yes, I did. Where they invite Messi and Steve Corella's involved. They all go back to the house.
Starting point is 00:17:07 There's Messy and David Beckham. Henri. Henri. Yeah. And what I couldn't understand, the theme that they play throughout it is House of the Rising Song, which is an old American folk song
Starting point is 00:17:20 about a teenage sex worker bemoaning the terrible mistake she's made in life and asking other girls not to go down the same dark road that she did. That's the backdrop for a fucking Chris Panford with footballers in it.
Starting point is 00:17:37 You're right. The lyrics are it's been the ruin of a poor man. Well, they made it a male song after. But the original, it's a poor girl. God knows, I am one. But it's still a lament. Frank, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:17:52 Whichever way you look. Is it the animals I heard the version of? Yeah, they did it. Bob Dylan did it, I think, before them. But in the song, they made it a male song. So he says, you know, I went to this... House of Ill repute is actually. Too much and it's ruined me.
Starting point is 00:18:07 But the original, I think, more powerful, is actually one of the sex workers saying, you know, I live a terrible, lonely and miserable life. Chris Penny what? No one... Millionaire footballer, anyone? Who chose that? And due to socioeconomic deprivation,
Starting point is 00:18:31 I've been forced into this life. Yeah, exactly. And then we cut to Messi. I don't know. I don't get that. Hey, do you know what I didn't know? Because it's Leonor Messi. David Bediel signed his present to me.
Starting point is 00:18:46 David Leonel Badell. And I said Lionel, he said, no, it's Leonel. No, it is Lionel. I thought it was, but I believed him. Maybe he adopted Leinal to say, like, Messi. I think he has, no, you have to say Leanor. I'm sure he's always said Lionel to me when it's cropped up. Three Lionels, on a shirt.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Lovely, Ruth. Who would the three Lionels be? I'm a Blair. We both went Blair. Attention must be paid for Blair. Who else? Well, Miss Missy, you can. Richie.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Yeah, you've done it, Ruth. You've done it in one. Who was yours? Richie. It's got to be Richie Blair and Messi. Yeah. Do we have any more Lionels? Any more for any more?
Starting point is 00:19:30 Lionel Jeffries. Was he in Chitty Shitty Bangberg, the granddad? He was. Oh, I love that. Yeah. But let's not. I don't think we're going to hold the audience if we have 20 minutes. It's going to be like England trying to hang on to that gold.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Trying to think of Lionel. Texting if you know any more. Well, hang on for 20. three minutes and part the boss with Larnel. Oh, Frank. Okay. Well, I feel slightly better having seen you. I feel like I can put it behind me.
Starting point is 00:19:58 And as you say, return to club football. Well, I remember being in, I can't remember which World Cup it was. But I was with Dave and Germany were absolutely wiping the floor with us. And I leaned across to him and said, we were like four one down. Yeah. Mind you, I said, I've just remembered I've got soft mints in the van. I love that. It's the little things that, you know, that make it seem okay.
Starting point is 00:20:24 I love that. Oh, I love a soft mint. Anyway. The Hulu original series Furious is coming to Disney Plus. Starring Emmy Rossum, Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating serial killer. Both walk their own paths toward justice. And as their lives start to intertwine,
Starting point is 00:20:55 the line between right and. and wrong begins to blur. Don't miss the three-episode premiere of the Hulu original series Furious on July 27th, only on Hulu on Disney Plus. You're richer than you think. What about you, Ruthie, what you're being up to? Well, I've spent most of the week having blast from the past hay fever. I think that's 70s. I don't know if, because I'd never had it when I was little.
Starting point is 00:21:50 And in primary school, I used to see kids with streaming eyes and sneezing. And I never had it. Number 11 on the top lip, that is for the thing at my school. What's that? You know, when kids, both then off. Stores were Ronnie. Well, we had a boy who was known as the boy with the runny nose. And that was, my sister, people I knew still called him that now.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Ooh, he's here again. A boy with the snot on his lid. Why does some children always have runny nose, right? I don't know the answer to that. I think there's less of it now. Why? It'll be something to do with pollution. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Oh, God, you're fine. I always remember in primary school, other kids would always have bogies at their nose. I just can't. I can't even talk about it. I can't discuss it. Do you mind? But I never did, you see. I just used to look at them and think, why don't you just blow your nose?
Starting point is 00:22:47 They don't know. It's not something I'd do. And that was with hay fever. I used to think, I don't think that would ever affect me, hay fever. I just wouldn't understand. I wasn't allergic to cats until I got to about 50. I mean, these things can just creep up on you. Well, it was only David Bedeal's cats.
Starting point is 00:23:01 that I think made you allergic to cats. No, I lived with this cat, and it was fine. And you were fine with Chairman Miao. It was my dentist cat that set me off. Oh, okay, fine. What about that? Yeah. So, you don't seem very high feverish.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Well, I was this morning, but I'm better know. Have you taken? It's pirating, is it? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, you've got to be careful with that stuff. Have you? Yeah, really knocks you out. It's very strong and there's all, yeah, I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Pirating. Yeah. So, what was it going to say? Yeah, so I don't understand why, and I don't understand. It's not like I've been running through fields of wheat. You're not really through Zumae. Oh, I thought you were doing a video for the new Alexander Armstrong album. Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Starting point is 00:23:52 Frank went, not if you are. Long Scarce. Finished with my woman, because she. He couldn't help me with my mind. Did you think he sings a version of House of the Rising Sun, Frank? Zander's version of House of the Rising Sun? Oh, I bet he does. He does.
Starting point is 00:24:15 I work as an administrator at the House of the Rising Sun. It's only a summer job. But Mommy said it would do me good. So did Winchester. Oh, God. I'm studying the history of art all time. So he must be riddled with a... Or maybe he's absolutely immune.
Starting point is 00:24:43 That's why he can go through the field. Who's Zonda? Yeah. That's what he can walk through. I think the secret is he does a lot of autumnal filming. He does. Zonda is very... Hey, Provost.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Leave those kids alone, isn't he? He's peak provost. Oh, I love that. And I love him for. it, don't get me wrong. He's a very nice bloke. Always charming these boys. And people, is he still doing the albums?
Starting point is 00:25:06 They were big sellers like... I hope so. Bradley Walsh's album was a big sale. I didn't know Walsh did an album. Oh God, yeah. What sort of songs does he sing? Similar types. Cruise numbers, cruise ship numbers.
Starting point is 00:25:20 They do this thing called the Pratt Pack, which is Shane Ritchie, Bradley Walsh, Joe Pusqualee and Brian Connolly. And do they call themselves? So they're taking ownership of it. That was clever. They're getting ahead of the criticism. That's right. But they do a live show, do they?
Starting point is 00:25:35 Oh, yeah, they tore it. And it's very undone bow-tie glass of scotch. Can I, is it very, you're just too good to be true. That's it. Is it that's life? That's what all. But they do they do rap pack songs? Is that what they specialise?
Starting point is 00:25:50 Is it swing? Who do you call that? Cruna? Frank or know what it is. That sort of stuff. A rap pack. I just call it rap pack. It's like, oh, what a party.
Starting point is 00:25:59 what a swell party this is. Yes, all that stuff. Oh, Frank, should we go and see that? No. I'm glad it exists. I'm glad it exists. Don't get me wrong. But, you know, I'm glad Tahiti exists,
Starting point is 00:26:16 but I'm not going any time. I would quite. Should we go, Ruth? I'd love to. What to Tahiti? No. To the Pratt Park tour. I want to go to the Pratt Pack.
Starting point is 00:26:25 I go. Is it a current thing? I think they've just finished. a tour. People kept sending it to me. Did they? Yeah, because they know it's in my. I suspect they make a lot of money from that tour from him, don't you? Why, I hope they do.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Okay. A fool and his money has been parted, as they say. Oh, God. No, I wish, they're all good bloke, I wish them well. I watched the Norway game. I was at
Starting point is 00:26:52 2000 trees, a festival. I'll tell you what, they said to me, you can park in the VOP bit. Oh yes, that's my. It must be my watch, it with David. He was very honest, which I liked.
Starting point is 00:27:07 He said, I'm only watching it with you guys because Frank isn't available. And I respect that honestly. But I thought it's great to park this close to the... Yeah. Yeah. And then after the car alarm had gone off three times,
Starting point is 00:27:20 I had to move it. Every time a bass guitar kicked in, the alarm, the vibrations go through the ground, set my car alarm. Who knew that never occurred to me that that would be a problem? Yeah. I couldn't even work out what it was at first, why it was going off. Somebody said, you need to just disarm your alarm your alarm.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Oh, disovalued. And I thought, there's a rapper going past. You need to disarm your alarm. Obviously, I don't fucking know how to have to do that. I'll move the car, mate. You can't do that. No, I wouldn't know how to do that. Can you change your tyre, Frank?
Starting point is 00:27:59 I have changed the tyre. Good on you. I changed it for, you know, that radio show I've never seen Star Wars? Yes. We added the things you've never done before in your life. Did you manage it okay? Well, I had instructions. I had somebody telling me what to do.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Okay. If my car, if I, you know, burst tire on the motorway or someone, I wouldn't have a clue what to do. No. Well, I do know what to do now. I'll call the police and it worked and they came out. Did they? Because my car had broken down in a live lane, and it was in a slow lane,
Starting point is 00:28:32 and at that point you're meant to call the police. There's an obstruction. So if you'd gone onto the hard shoulder, they wouldn't have come out? I don't know. Worth knowing? I don't take this as advice to break down. If my car starts the struggle, I'm going to pull across into the fast lane. They'll be there in no time.
Starting point is 00:28:51 In fact, I'll tell you what, I might go sideways. Oh, God, please don't take this as advice. No, no, don't. But I was able to get through because when I got through, the police had told me, they were charming. We had a great relationship
Starting point is 00:29:05 when they came out. There was a load of squad cars around. There were a load of cars surrounding my car. I'll tell you what happened. So at the festival on Saturday night, the Norway game was on
Starting point is 00:29:17 at 10 o'clock. 10 o'clock. So what they did was there's a Marshall suite. Maythers. Marshall Suite. There's a four album
Starting point is 00:29:27 called that. Yeah. Anyway, so they cleared that out and put a big telly in there. Lovely. And took all the speakers out, like, you know, the obviously had speakers. And then you had to have a special wristband, which I'm still wearing, to get into that screening. But I put, I put an England shirt on and wore an England shirt for a while. Which era?
Starting point is 00:29:50 Can you remember off the top of the movie? Yeah, 96. Oh, now that I would want a photo. But it was the white one. F. Skinner and a 96. So I turned up in that and they were playing music and they played three lions and everyone's going to whee. And I started doing, you know that embarrassed look? You know when like if someone's on a chat show and they show a picture of them singing when they were 19
Starting point is 00:30:14 and they have to put their head in their hands and look embarrassed? And instead I got up and sang the whole song from start to finish. Oh, I love that. I know, but I tell you what? there was, I felt people start, it's sort of had enough for the year.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Oh no. There was a sort of, there was a rest, there was a restless. I know. I thought I've got to get to the end then. But it was like, can I ask at what point in the song?
Starting point is 00:30:45 What lyric did you feel I've overstayed my welcome a bit? I think it was, when it went into the last I'm coming home, you know the bit where the three lines are. But when that came in, I thought, they'd already gone.
Starting point is 00:30:57 They were still there. But you know, I don't know if you ever done this, but when you're walking out into the garden, have you ever looked down at the spider in the glass with the coaster underneath it? And it's looked terribly trapped and confused and uncertain what's happened. That's how they looked.
Starting point is 00:31:20 Like they had them trapped under a tumbler. You had to release them. Oh. But I know what you mean there's that sweet spot, isn't there? Well, you think, it'd just been one verse, but then you've committed and you've thought, I won't be. You know, I'll give them what they want and, you know, da, blah, blah. I gave them what they want, but there was quite a lot left on the plate.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Oh, right. Oh, no. But when you finished, how was it, I'm trying to think of the end of three lines. Is it a big finish or does it fade? No, it, I can't remember. No, I feel like it fades. I haven't got that far for years. I think you might as go football's coming home, repeat.
Starting point is 00:32:03 And so how did you finish? Did you just, did you go? I just, it stopped and I just sat down. Did you get a round of applause? No. Oh, that's quite bad. Yeah. Oh, I would have cheered you, I think.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I don't think I got a round of applause. I don't know. I was very much locked into the fetal position. Oh, Frank, it is quite embarrassing. Oh, yeah. Because you've really put yourself out there. Yeah, I thought I'm going to give you what you want. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:35 And then you went, today is going to be. Come, come. Let's go. I think I did do that, actually, to try and get myself out of the house. You'll like this one. Yeah. Yeah, and then lightning struck the tent when I say, Wonder War.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Even though the lyrics aren't merely as sophisticated, you'll like. The terrible curse. I think you might have something in it with this curse. I'm sorry. Well, we've done the football now. What about the world of the outside? Yeah. Should we do some of outside world?
Starting point is 00:33:10 I think we should. We've heard from a lot of people getting in touch, obviously, about the football. A lot of people saying, don't worry, Frank, we're still with you. We love three lines. So that's good to know. We've also had, I won't read these out, but we've also had a lot of praise because you featured on the Katie Price documentary that's been out on Netflix. No, not Netflix, I apologize now TV.
Starting point is 00:33:34 On how sensitively you chatted to her, because there's clips from your chat show back then. God, that's way back. Had a lot of women calling you an ally, I'm just saying. Really? Yes, because back then people seated very much like a cartoon figure. They didn't take her seriously, and I watched it, and I was a little bit proud of you. Well, I tell you what, I just, my autobiography had been out. And I went to the publisher and I said, I've met this woman, Jordan.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Everyone called it Jordan then. And I said, she's really interesting. She's funny. She's very, very honest. But she's a vulnerable. I said, I really felt I was genuinely worried for her in the world she's in. I said, but I written, what I'd like to do? is travel with her to personal appearances, whatever she's doing, modeling, TV shows,
Starting point is 00:34:30 and write a book about being with Jordan and what her life's like. That's fascinating. And he said, no one's interested in that. That won't sell any books. A few years later, she wrote books and they went massive, yeah. Anyway. I've always liked her. No, I was very proud.
Starting point is 00:34:50 You know what it's like, Frank. Sometimes we look back on the 90s with our friends and you're stealing yourself. You tell me steal yourself. Whereas in this case, I just felt so, I felt very proud of you. What about when I got interviewed by the son and the journalist said, so there must be things that you said in the 90s
Starting point is 00:35:07 that you regret saying now. I said, yeah, but not as many as the son. What did they say? It didn't make the interview fondly enough. Imagine what the son said then. What would say? Talk about what they say pot to kettle. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:23 I mean, yeah. Let's not talk about some of their headlines. We've had a lot of people getting in touch also about Jesus Christ Superstar. Don't don't say that. You scare me. Sam Ryder himself responded to your impression of Rob Bryden as Jesus Christ Superstar. With a big ha-ha-ha-ha laughter emoji, he approves. That's good to know.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Sam Ryder. We love Sam. Very well reviewed, he was, as he said, Jay-Zoo. Yeah, I thought he looked. Kelly has got in touch. On Tuesday, I also attended the Jesus Christ Superstar opening night. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:06 My partner spotted Frank in the distance and I set off on a mission to try and meet him. These opportunities don't arise very often. I found Frank in the crowd and he was gracious enough to let me have a photo. Oh, that's kind of.
Starting point is 00:36:20 I don't remember that at all. Well, no, don't ruin it. It's said a nice thing. You don't have to say, I don't remember it. I saw. Very good. Very well saved. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Tacked. It's everything in this job. Beautifully done. Lovely save, Pickford. I saw Brian Conley afterwards. Your mate, Ruth. Mention Isis. And after an argument with my partner who insisted it was George Lamb,
Starting point is 00:36:49 I'd never get them mixed up. You would know because he's gone grey. He's George Lamb? Yeah, he's grey, isn't he? And Brian Connolly is now as well. Yeah, but that's all they've got in common. There are a lot of people who are grey. Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:37:02 No people. Me and Mary Beard are never mixed up. Oh, actually, there was that once. I couldn't think of it. I mean, that's ridiculous. I can't. Surely. I can't.
Starting point is 00:37:16 We don't mix George Clooney up with Keir Starmer. They're both gone a bit grey. Anyway, he too agreed to a photo. once he'd swallowed a chewy canopy. Oh, Chewbacca. I would like to know Frank's opinion on the performance. It's a very modern version, did he approve. Well, we've already kind of covered this.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Frank liked it. I liked it. I liked the great big cross. There was a really, really big cross. Not the one that he was at the stretchy bike, satchel things. But the big cross was very impressive. Oh, are you in favour of a big cross? Generally speaking.
Starting point is 00:37:51 It's just good to know. Can I say just to close this, mentioning Keir Starmat, Keir Starrma finished this week, he left. Yeah. He did, I think, the best joke I've ever heard on in the House of Commons. What did he do?
Starting point is 00:38:07 It was a proper joke. I would have been happy to tell this joke on stage. Do you remember when he was in a school and he did six seven? Yeah, he did that. I think I saw him do six seven. He got in a bit of trouble, people said, And the teacher said something like...
Starting point is 00:38:22 Well, the great thing was. He did... One of the kids said six, seven, blah, blah, blah. And he started doing it. He joined in, Kea. You do the thing when your hands go on and down and say six seven. Scales of justice type thing. I don't really understand it, but my son still thinks it's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:38:39 But anyway, he said, yeah, that... Someone asked him his worst moment online. And he said, I think it was when I did six, seven. He said, and the worst thing was afterwards. the headmaster said to me, that's actually against the school rules. He said, and I heard myself say, well, I didn't start it. That's a proper funny joke. It's a real funny joke.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Why didn't he say that kind of thing more? I know. That's what I thought. But you know what? My dad always used to say this about leaders. He said, freed from office. That's when you see the best of them. Their soul is liberated.
Starting point is 00:39:18 It's like when you're dumping someone, they say, It certainly looked better. They seem more articulate, you know. It's never happened to me, but yeah. Either way. Okay. Yeah. But what a great joke. The joke they used to say
Starting point is 00:39:32 it was the best joke ever in the House of Commons was Vince Cable, someone who, who Emily had a crush on. This is why I loved him. And he said, what's happened to Gordon Brown now? He used to be Joseph Stalin, and now he's just Mr. Bean. And I remember thinking,
Starting point is 00:39:50 Only in the House of Commons Would that be seen as a moral decline? Yeah Bring back Stalin. Yeah. It's the Frank Skinner podcast. A new winter change is blowing. It's the Frank Skinner podcast.
