For football fans, the best time of the year is finally back.
The Thanksgiving special presented by the Fumble Rooski podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the staff sheet,
but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws.
Back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome to the Fumbaruski podcast for our Thanksgiving Day special.
Obviously going to be on Wednesday, today being Wednesday.
But we thank you for listening in to our preview
of the three Thanksgiving Day matchups
that are going to be going on on Turkey Day,
along with our Black Friday game.
And what are you thankful for?
What are you thankful for?
I'm thankful for a lot of things,
but we're going to get to that later.
Adam, I want to know you're drinking a beer over there what
we drinking tonight by the way we got uh sam adams boston lager so as of right now it is
wednesday night it's definitely wednesday right now um so we're baking some pies downstairs with family and i'm taking a few minutes to record this episode
for the people and i'm finishing my beer plural um beers nice yeah nice um yeah special occasion
calls for uh calls for a beer hell yeah Hell yeah. CJ, you got anything over there?
Water, I'm sorry.
Chris definitely doesn't have a bourbon
or anything. I got a nice glass
of Knob's Creep I'm sipping on
right now.
I feel like y'all at home are judging me.
In my defense,
winter allergies are killing me
and my throat is sore.
Nothing a nice bourbon wouldn't fix. Winter allergies are killing me, and my throat is sore. Pause.
Nothing a nice bourbon wouldn't fix.
Hey, fun facts.
Fun facts.
There's a distillery that's down in Kentucky called,
I'm already blanking what it's called.
It's Buffalo Trace. There's a Buffalo Trace distillery down in Kentucky.
Longest running distillery in America.
It was because they were
able to keep their distillery open
during Prohibition era
for medical
bourbon.
Medical bourbon, huh?
It's definitely
medical. And just like that, former NFL
wide receiver Justin Blackman just
checked into the hospital.
Oh, you know.
Good one, Matt, and good one.
Oh, man.
Well, unfortunately, this slate of games that we have,
or at least for Thanksgiving Day, kind of sucks.
But we start out with a pretty good NFC North matchup
that the spread Vegas does not have this as a very pretty game.
It's the Lions and the Bears.
Vegas has the Lions as 10 point favorites.
So at this time, you're probably starting to make your food a little bit.
Maybe you got some appetizer spreads going.
Maybe you got cheese board.
Maybe you got your uncle cooking venison on the grill a little bit or a little bit of mushroom stuffed mushrooms.
I'm just naming off things that I'm going to have.
But the Bears and the Lions.
Boy, the Lions are hot.
This is I mean, this is a talking point that we've had for pretty much the entirety of this season since week three um and funny
enough the lions and the eagles are both undefeated since their losses to the eagles or to the bucks
there's your there's your weird staff of the day um but i'm taking the lions i just feel like
there there's no way in
hell that you can pick against the lions with how they're playing right now on the bear side
caleb williams had a really good week last week over 300 yards was a big catalyst for their
comeback against minnesota in which they ended up losing to the Vikings in overtime. But it's good to see them have a little bit of life because this is only the
second part of this wild gauntlet.
They have to get through if they want to have any sort of chance of making
the playoffs.
But like I said,
give me the lions,
maybe the bears cover,
maybe they don't,
but I just don't see him winning bears lions oh my god look i saw some stat once about how the lions haven't won a thanksgiving
game in a bit but i got news for you this year is different you know why because they are playing against a team that is
being coached by the the very man who lost his keys lost his remote and most recently lost the
locker room maddie flus so that being said you've got to go with the Lions. You don't really have to think too hard about it.
I just can't think of really any aspect where the Bears match up with Detroit all that well.
So, yeah.
Like I said, I don't care about the curse.
I think that streak ends tomorrow.
All right.
So, apologies. Had to get the dog been barking um yeah he loves pies and when
he can't have any pie then he gets upset um i am more intrigued by the bears in this game
than i am the lions and the reason is actually more simple than you think.
It's quite simply because I know the Lions are winning this game.
And we know the Lions are winning.
So I'm very intrigued by how the Bears respond to a team as high powered as the Lions offense.
Particularly Caleb Williams, who has been up and down all season long.
He's been on both ends of things where he has had really bad performances, and he's
also had really good performances. Most of his performances recently, in recent weeks, have been bad.
But he's coming off a really good game against the Vikings.
And I think overall, I believe that he's going to see more good football.
But it's going to be very up and down.
Because he's not quite as far along in his development as we may think,
as we initially thought that is.
So when I look at this Bears team, we know that they're most likely going to lose,
but I want to see how they play.
I want to see how Caleb Williams does against a
good team. Maybe he makes it an interesting game. I certainly think this Lions offense has the
capacity to dance with the Lions. The problem is, the problem is Caleb is a a rookie he's been very inconsistent as far as this season has gone but i see them
making this a very competitive game if everything goes right for the bears if this bears team plays
to the capacity that i believe that they can which they have earlier on this year
then i think they can they can make this a competitive game i don't give them a shot to win
but they could at least make a case that yeah we don't have the lions this year but in a couple
years this division is going to be ours and that's something that i believe can happen this week
so give me the lions by a comfortable margin, but expect the Bears to possibly make
this a game. Yeah, I would have to agree with you there, Adam, depending on how the Bears play in
this game. I mean, obviously, like we said, don't really think anyone is picking the Bears to win,
but depending on how they play is going to be very indicative
of how they play the rest of the season.
Especially,
the Bears haven't won since
they haven't won a game since before the bye week
that they had in week seven. They're on a five-game
losing streak right now.
They are down
bad, to say the least.
But,
you know, NFC North Rival, this is your chance to prove a point here
try to prove yourself a little bit and you'll notice that they're playing bad during the same
exact stretch where caleb williams has started to struggle right like so they started one and two
then they racked off a few win uh three wins in a row. That was during a time when Caleb
Williams was starting to play well. Then they hit a wall when they faced Washington. They've been
struggling ever since. Then they had this one game against the Vikings, a team that is more
geared to win now. And it was a pretty close game and Caleb played very well. And I think,
I think this isn't the last we're going to see of that version of Caleb Williams.
I just think as this season goes on, we're going to see a lot more growing pains
because that's just, he's a rookie. I think we've gotten too spoiled in recent years in seeing players like CJ Stroud, Justin Herbert,
Jaden Daniels this year, right? You can even go back to Dak Prescott, Andrew Luck. In recent years,
in recent memory, we have seen quarterbacks play very well in their rookie years,
which when it's not usually, it's not naturally supposed to happen.
There's so many things that rookie quarterbacks
are supposed to learn before they take the lead
and become the leader of an entire franchise.
And when you see this young 21, 22-year-old kid
jumping onto the scene and leading guys
who are in their 30s,
I think that doesn't go
over quite as well. And I think there's a lot of things that you need to learn both mentally and
as far as mechanics go. And we're seeing that with Caleb Williams. I mean, he's just a kid.
Are we, we're all forgetting that he's not just some veteran who's been in the league for a few
years. He just came out of college. How were you when you first graduated from school?
Like, did you have your shit together?
No.
So I kind of, I give him a little bit of a pass here.
Give him some time.
He's going to be playing his best ball in years two or three of his career.
Yeah, and there's a stat out there right now that when Caleb Williams gets the ball
out in under 2.7 seconds he is a top three quarterback in terms of QBR anything longer
than that his QBR shrinks to like an eight point something I don't even remember what the actual
number was but it's just such a wild discrepancy of QBR.
And it's funny too, when you do a quick Google search,
Caleb Williams QBR when he holds the ball too long.
And it's just articles of does Caleb Williams hold the ball too long?
Should he hold the ball longer?
Yeah.
So I, I did,
I did look this morning at next gen stats as far as time to throw goes um so as you guys may know
last year according to next gen stats justin fields took 3.23 seconds to throw the ball
that was the that was the highest by a long shot by any quarterback in football last year
this year caleb williams has a problem. Now it's not nearly as bad,
but 2.8 seconds is certainly nothing to sneeze at. That's a long time to throw the ball.
And it's not as bad as Justin Fields, but it's certainly, I'm not, it's at a point where I'm
not looking at the quarterbacks and blaming them. I'm looking at the coaching staff for not being able to develop quarterbacks properly,
because this is now Caleb Williams, who's struggling early, Justin Fields, you couldn't
develop and Mitch Trubisky too. Now maybe Mitch Trubisky couldn't play anyways, but he had a lot
of the same problems that Justin Fields and Caleb Williams are having now.
So I look at that organization that has never been able to properly develop a quarterback,
and I'm saying, what the hell are you doing?
And it's the same problem over and over again.
I just don't get it there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's unfortunate.
Another thing to add, Bears are 0 and four on the road this year that'll be the last thing i have to add uh you guys got any other last words for this game before
we move on i was fighting the urge to put to call an upset from the uh for this game just because the lions do have some issues on
thanksgiving games and the bears do have the capacity to make this a game
but i'm gonna restrain myself and say you know what maybe it's just the sam adams talking
i like it i like it i mean who knows Lions lost to the Packers last year, and that ended up catapulting Green Bay into the playoffs.
They went on a huge run after that Thanksgiving game.
And who is the mule that they had back in, like, 2018
who actually dismantled that Lions team?
2017?
It was 2018, I believe.
I'm completely forgetting who it was. Oh, you know what? It was on the I believe. I'm completely forgetting who it was.
Oh, you know what?
It was on the other side.
Never mind.
What is his name?
I'm completely blanking on him.
The Lions?
Thanksgiving ball.
Lions backup quarterback.
Robert knows who he is.
Oh, David Blau.
David Blau.
Yes.
Thanksgiving legend. i was completely i
completely butchered it never mind i yeah but you know what there's a possibility i'm
i wouldn't rule it out but i'm also not going to bet on it. So I'm picking the Lions. Yeah.
This is going to be the third time since 2018 that the Lions, or pardon, the fourth time that the Lions and Bears have played
on Thanksgiving since 2018 as well.
Obviously, the Bears getting the better of the Lions all three of those times
since they haven't won on Thanksgiving since 2015 against the Eagles.
So, yeah.
With that, we're going to move on to the early evening game,
the Giants and the Cowboys after this break.
We'll see you on the other side.
This is the Fumble Rooski Podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the stat sheet,
but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws.
Back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.

Head to our
430 slot. The Giants
and Tommy
DeVito taking on
Cooper Rush and the Dallas Cowboys.
And at this time, most families probably be eating dinner at this point.
If not, maybe you had it in the middle of the Bears-Lions game.
You're taking your little turkey nap right now.
Honestly, if you're a normal, sane person,
you would probably take a nap
for the entirety of this game.
This is the game to take a nap
during.
I don't expect this to be a very good game
at all.
By any sort of
anything,
I might...
Or it could be a good game. Or it could be a good game.
Or it could be a good game.
In the worst ways possible.
It's going to be like 3-0.
Either way,
I might just take a random nap.
I usually don't end up eating
until halfway
through the 4.30 slot anyways.
So I'm
thankful to say that I'm going to be missing a good pretty
much this entire game uh yeah uh no thanks but yeah giants there's a whole lot of hubba blue
going on over in new york dallas their own at home. They just got a win against Washington this past week in
wild, wild fashion.
I don't even know who to pick because both
teams could lose hilariously.
Both teams could even
dominate in the stupidest way
possible.
I don't know who to pick. This is a coin flip for me really it's but i i probably
have to go with the cowboys maybe i don't even know it i i don't even feel good about picking
either team that's how terrible this matchup is so i'll let you two go first oh boy all right so this is definitely the time to
catch up with some relatives you know everyone everyone jokes on thanksgiving now i'm gonna be
watching some football i'm not gonna be talking to relatives maybe i'll talk to relatives here
and there this is the time where you could actually say you know what maybe i should
get to know that one cousin who i've neglected for years and you know what i think that's the
time to do it but now that i have to make a pick on this team uh whichever team um out of spite i'm
gonna go the giants just because i feel like again this is a coin flip this
is a game where either team could win and not in a good way um but there's just something about the
cowboys there's just something is seriously wrong with them and on a stage like Thanksgiving, I feel like that's going to be magnified.
Yeah.
So when I look at this game, I think players like Malik Neighbors are really going to be important.
CeeDee Lamb will be important for the cowboys
and i think tommy devito and cooper rush they both have good experience with
um stepping up as backups
but i think there's less game film on to DeVito than there is on Cooper Rush.
And I think just the unpredictability of Tommy DeVito in this Giants team
is probably what's going to set this Giants team over the edge
rather than the Cowboys.
And again, the Cowboys are such a choky team.
And it's in the worst way possible this year than other years.
At least in past years, they were good.
Now they're just a joke and they're choky.
And when you combine that with Thanksgiving football,
you're going to get a mess.
So give me the Giants.
This game is going to be hideous there is no way around
it that being said i do have the cowboys because i said it last year and i'll say it now i do not
like tommy devito as a starter he should have stayed a third string. He gets that little insanity run
every backup gets, and then
they just brought him back down to earth.
Why he's starting over?
Drew Locke is a mystery to me. I have
heard it's because Locke is trying to
take incentives and the Giants are trying to save money.
I'd be trying to save money too if I
offered Daniel Jones a $160 million
contract.
But I just feel like the cowboys have more talent
throughout the roster and the giants do the giants literally have like malik neighbors dexter lawrence
some safety i'm forgetting about uh that's pretty much it meanwhile Meanwhile, you know, at least that there's
the Cowboys.
At least, you know, you got guys like
CeeDee Lamb. Your O-line is
alright, I guess.
You know, you got Parsons
and all them. So, like, I
just... Good lord.
Ladies and gentlemen,
gorge yourselves on turkey and
take yourself a tryptophan-induced nap during the game
because, oh my god, this game is just...
It's a coin flip, like you guys said, in the worst possible way.
So I just, I gotta go with the Cowboys just because
I don't think that Tommy DeVito really has the tools to get it done.
Meanwhile, Cooper Rush did technically upset the Commanders.
However, this is a Thanksgiving game, so I'm expecting it to be ugly.
I can't believe that Drew Locke is the third string and not the second string.
Yeah.
Who's the third string and not the second string. Yeah. Like,
no,
he,
well,
I mean,
he's the second string now,
but he was because drew lock was the second string for the entirety of the
season.
And then drew.
And then,
then Tommy DeVito came out of nowhere and just became the backup who just
jumped drew lock and became the starting quarterback it's like well why'd you
bring in drew lock i would have had him in red white and blue over here in new england that
would have been a lot better than dracoby brissett yeah and maybe he wouldn't have ended up being
benched for drake may who is now getting his shit kicked in. Yeah. Yeah.
As much as I love seeing Drake May play,
but I mean, the kid's going to get killed.
Like at least Drew Locke was able to win some games over in Denver.
Like the only thing that Tommy DeVito has done is beat Green Bay on Monday Night Football
and beat a terrible Pats team
in like one of the worst offensive games I've ever seen in my lifetime.
I remember that. A. i remember that aka last year uh cowboys are 2-0 against the giants on thanksgiving as well surprising that they have only played two times on thanksgiving
yeah um you know what screw it i'm gonna go with the Giants
why not I don't care
I'm not watching this game anyways
and I don't think any of us
are I feel like we're gonna need a
Thanksgiving day
upset and I mean
we're gonna get to Dolphins Packers
but I don't really see that being an upset either
screw it let's
get right the fuck into it
because I don't want
to talk about this giants cowboys game anymore but it's fascinating though isn't it yeah fascinating
yeah the same way a car crash is fascinating you can't look away well i can look away from this
matchup i can tell you that much oh yeah so so a car crash might be more pleasant to look at than
the giants cowboys is what you're saying
At least car crashes it's like it's something you never see
So like you kind of
Want to see all that chaos I mean it
Sucks when it happens like
You hope everyone's okay but
You can't take your eyes off it because
Yeah
Nice
Nice segue
Dolphins Packers.
Packers and Jordan Love Toyota-thon in full effect.
Dolphins starting to pick it up pretty hot right now.
They've won back-to-back games, or three in a row, actually,
after losing two in a row to the Cardinals in the Bills.
Tua has been playing pretty well.
11 touchdowns, one interception, 1,200 passing yards,
and a 70% completion percentage since his return from almost dying again,
I guess, almost having his head taken off.
That one's on him, but yeah.
Yeah, no, he brings these on himself yeah uh but at this point
probably had dessert maybe you're chilling out a little bit shit maybe you're getting ready for bed
at this point maybe you're still maybe the night's just getting started for you maybe you're getting
freaking hammered it maybe you're blackout at this point and you don't even know what date is anymore. You don't even
know what your name is.
Maybe you got a big bowl
of ice cream with apple pie
all over your shirt
just watching this game with a beard to your
right. I don't
know. Maybe
all of them. Maybe all of them.
Maybe all of the above.
How about that?
And none of the above. And none of the above. How about that? And none of the above.
And none of the above.
Maybe you're just imagining it.
Dude, what is real at that point?
I'm a schizophrenic.
Not according to my sources.
I am completely mentally ill.
This is our Sunday night game or Sunday night game.
Thursday night game.
I say Sunday night because it's NBC.
That's going to be doing it.
Dolphins.
They have not won a game in cold weather.
Give.
All right.
I'm going to let you guys.
This is our little trivia.
Our once every other week trivia thing.
Please.
Give me the temperature
at kickoff
on Thursday night in Green Bay.
Don't look at your phone,
Adam.
It's definitely
not 28 degrees. Fuck you. Yeah, it's definitely not 28 degrees fuck you yeah it's 28 degrees you told me after you
told me after well why would you look anyways why would you look anywhere well i look at the espn app
to keep track of some of the stats and all the matchup details for the game. So I just had it there. And then you say, Oh,
guess the,
you know,
the weather.
Well,
whenever I bring this surprise trivia up,
turn the phone off.
Well,
that's the thing is it's a surprise. So when it already,
so when it comes up,
I just have it in front of me and I just see it.
So I just say the answer.
All right.
Whatever. All right. All right.
Well,
dolphins,
dolphins in sub freezing temperatures,
they have not won a game.
That's basically the only stat that you really need to hear about this one.
Cause if you didn't,
if you saw the way that the chiefs dolphins game went last year,
I'm going to say that this game is going to be a hell of a lot similar as well.
So give me the Packers by 10.
CJ, make your pick.
I thought Adam was supposed to go.
I'm sorry.
Jeez.
No, Adam's going to – I already know. Adam's going to pull some bullshit go. I'm sorry. Geez. No, Adam's going to.
I already know.
Adam's going to pull some bullshit here.
He's going to be like, I think the dolphins because of vibes.
Yeah.
You know what, Adam?
Are you picking the dolphins?
Yeah.
You'll have to find out.
No, no, no.
We want the answer, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, no, no.
Just yes or no.
Are you going to?
And then you can elaborate after I rant or whatever.
After he tears you to shreds.
My answer is undisclosed.
All right, well, the way that I see this game,
it's the same way as I think that if anyone were to pick the Dolphins
in anything under 40 degrees is like picking the Dolphins
when two is not playing.
It's a terrible pick.
So, yeah, Packers.
Yeah, and the thing is, obviously –
And Jordan Love Toyotathon.
Sorry.
Oh, look, Jordan Love Toyotathon is a big thing, but it's a huge deal.
However, Miami literally cannot function in the cold.
That's been one of their biggest weaknesses.
Also, they have not beat a team with a winning record this year.
In fact, this lends further credence to a point that's already been established.
I'm sure you all know.
I believe their head coach, Mike McDaniel, only has like one career win against a team above 500.
If I recall correctly, that was the road Dallas Cowboys from last season.
The thing is, I've said this about Miami before.
They throw their weight around with bad teams, but when you take away McDaniel's tricks
and he's forced to actually play tough,
like nose of the grindstone football,
he just wilts because speed and flash are nice,
but you've got to have substance behind it.
And he has not shown that he can beat good teams at a high level.
He can't beat teams above 500, and they don't do well in the cold.
So that being said, give me Green Bay.
Now the moment we've all been waiting for.
That, listen.
Oh.
I already know what's coming. I already know what's coming i already know what's coming
the dolphins are going to take this game oh god i knew it and the reason for that is
i think the packers have been overall a very good team but jordan love has been turnover prone. He's thrown 11 interceptions already at this point in the season.
And that's just with him missing three games.
So overall, these numbers should be worse than they actually are.
Yes, he's basically Brett Favre.
He throws a lot of touchdowns.
He throws a lot of yards.
That's all great and all,
but when you throw the interceptions all the time, then that is going to put a cap on your team's
potential to win games. And I think overall, this Dolphins team has the capacity to dance with
the Packers' offensive firepower, and I think they're going to do it.
And I think the turnovers are going to be what kill the Packers
because the turnovers have been killing them every single week.
And they've won some, I mean, yes, they have won some shootouts,
but they've also lost a few as well.
And I think when you go up against a high-powered offense
that has Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddell,
I'm going to give a slight edge to Miami.
I know they haven't won a game against a team that was 500
or better this year.
But I think, is it going to happen every single week?
Yes.
There's going to be one game where they break out, and they just, they're able, I agree,
they're not good against 50s or 500 or better.
First time for everything.
I think they're going to take this one.
I don't know.
I just,
I mean,
I,
we talked about this last year and my concerns with the Miami dolphins
schedule or because,
you know,
come playoff time,
kind of be concerned with how they're going to play in cold weather,
this and that.
And lo and behold, it came true.
And I just, I see it once.
I just don't think I can see out of it.
And at first, Adam, I thought that you were going to say, oh, well,
the Dolphins are bad against teams over 500.
And they're going to break out.
Well, they did break out of it last year, but that was one game,
and Mike McDaniels has lost every other game against a 500 team,
including this year.
So the trend is trending, and I'm not sure what their record is right now under mike mcdaniel uh in sub 40 or
just sub freezing temperatures i know that the black friday game like they had the black friday
game against the jets last year and that was a pretty cold game obviously and it was in new york
and they ended up winning that game because it was jets obviously but
i'm not sure what the temperature was for that game.
It was probably cold, though.
Yeah, probably.
Yeah.
CJ, do you want to add anything else to tell Adam that he's an idiot?
No, I've already stated my case.
It's just a lot of it's also coaching.
I'm on record saying this
i don't view mike mcdaniel as a really good coach you know he's just been another one that
walks into situations whether when he was even the oc in san francisco and to now he's another
one who's only the coach that's only as good as his weapons. He has shown that when you take his toys from him,
he can't function.
And whenever he goes up against a superior coaching mind,
nine out of 10 times,
he gets embarrassed.
So I also just think Lafleur is a better head coach than Dan McDaniel to tell
you the truth.
Oh,
here it is.
Just watch this play for me real quick.
It's Jordan Love.
Oh, goodness.
Oh.
If you're not, I'll say it.
Also, I'm skeptical about Miami.
Did you see how this running lane opened up?
Yeah.
Did you see how the running lane opened up?
I am skeptical of Miami's ability to run the ball because speed always
shorts crickets in the cold.
That's where power runs are effective.
Miami, they're not a fundamentally sound team.
They're not gritty.
They're not powerful, but they're fast.
Now show me a few of those picks.
And speed always withers in the cold.
Green Bay plays with a more power running style,
and that's just going to be the thing.
Air shows rarely, if ever, happen in the cold.
You want to see the stat line from Jordan Love.
It was September 29th against the Vikings.
So the final score was 31-29.
It was a shootout, right?
So his final stat line, four touchdowns, 389 yards, 32 for 54 through 54 passes,
three picks.
If this doesn't scream Brett Favre to you you then i don't know what does and that could be
a good thing brett farve is obviously a hall of famer and he's one of the greatest quarterbacks
to ever play the game and are in probably the second greatest uh packers quarterback to ever play, but there's a reason why he only won one ring. And sometimes
those interceptions did catch up with him. And I think this is one game where you can sneakily
look at Miami and say, yes, most of the time they are not very good in this situation.
Against a 500 team or better in the cold but every once in a
while you're going to break out and i think against a turnover prone quarterback i think you could do
it i also would like to see the interceptions on that jordan love is throwing in terms of like
analytical or first of all not analytically just based off of watching it alone if it's
jordan love's fault and then secondly analytically if it's like a a good josh allen interception
because obviously like when josh allen threw an interception a would either be a really bad
interception that was on him or b it would be an interception that was on him or B, it would be an interception that was basically a punt.
So,
and there was more,
more often than you would think that Josh Allen,
when he threw an interception was actually the latter.
Not saying that there,
all of Josh Allen's interceptions were good interceptions,
obviously,
but well,
if you're leading the league with 11.
Yeah, no, it's still bad.
Especially, like, think about it.
He's missed a few games.
At least Patrick Mahomes has played most of the season.
He's leading the league in interceptions.
But Jordan Love has missed time,
and he made up for it in the interceptions race like that's a little crazy
to think about well jordan love also missed two games that's what i'm saying you're making it
you're making it sound like he missed like half the season that's still time missed and patrick
mahomes did not miss that time and like that's more time and same amount of interceptions.
You see how that kind of...
Oh, I understand.
I understand.
Just doesn't seem to deter them
as much as it should have.
Yeah, I get that.
Yeah.
Also, I just wanted to state on the record I wanted to show that Green Bay
Running play just for the
Not to spite Adam but
It is to spite me
No no no realistically
And it would be understandable
I love football so much
When I see a play like that
It's like it's football porn.
That's what it is.
God damn it.
I knew he was going to say this.
Yeah, yeah.
DJ and I, you know, we both have the Packers and we both have the same mind.
Oh, don't.
What?
Don't.
I was going to.
Yeah, I thought you were going to say we love football.
Yeah, don't.
Don't.
Don't get to me, buddy.
I don't consent.
We're going to take
a quick break. When we come back,
we're going to get into our Black Friday game.
This is the Paul Maruski Podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the
stat sheet, but you can see him making throws
when he needs to make the throws. Back-to-back
games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
This is the Full Maruski Podcast,
powered by Power 88 Dean Radio and Secret Weapon Consulting.
Chris Kostic, CJ Medeiros, Adam Wright.
Move on to our Black Friday game, Raiders and Chiefs.
Boy, you thought that the Lions-Bears spread was bad.
This spread takes the cake.
They're giving the Chiefs a 12.
They're making the Chiefs 12.5-point favorites.
Just terrible.
Just absolutely terrible.
And Vegas money line plus 500.
The NFL is just terrible.
Like Packers and Dolphins.
I feel like that could still be a good game.
Same thing with Lions Bears.
But like just when you think of these matchups on the surface.
Oh, it's just it's just like nails on a chalkboard.
It's terrible.
All right.
Well, honestly, I feel like that there's going to be a lot of people that probably won't even watch this game anyways because it's Black Friday.
A lot of shopping is probably going to happen.
Unless you're a dude.
No, I'm kidding.
Chris, you're going to get us canceled. I'm kidding uh chris you're gonna get us canceled i'm kidding it was a joke jeez i don't associate with him i'm being held in his basement please save me i i'm not
associated with this all right real shit though real shit what's the earliest you guys have gone
black shop black friday shopping if you've gone at all chris let me explain you don't look like you're a black friday
shopper but i have to ask this for the i have to ask this because we are a national sports podcast
national football podcast fair enough let me explain something to you kids this is 2024
and we in the words of the immortal Patrick Star from SpongeBob,
we're not cavemen.
We have technology.
Why settle for one Black Friday
when you have Black Friday week at Amazon?
And some people might hate Amazon.
And to that I say, don't be a prude.
Don't bring down the Black Friday, soon-to-be-Christmas holiday spirit.
Get bent.
So, yeah, in fact, I literally, you know, obviously it's Wednesday.
I literally finished up my holiday shopping, Black Friday week Amazon, on Tuesday, yesterday.
So don't even.
That's the earliest I've gone. I mean, I usually just knock it all out on Black Friday because I have an ungodly amount of Amazon money and I use
it. You know, everybody in the family gets, everybody's getting stuff. I get multiple gifts.
It's for all the people, you know, we love our family. That's why. Okay. Okay. I mean, I know
it sounds weird, but that's my answer. I just wait for Black Friday week.
And if I see something I like, like throughout the year, obviously I'll do it.
There's no time to go early.
But I'm not dumb enough to go to a real brick and mortar store on actual Black Friday and bear that mass psychogenic illness.
That's what it is.
It's some good old-fashioned mpi when you see
people as the gates come up just rushing forward you realize oh god we've created as a society
planet of the apes is this close okay so cj cj confirmed cyber the cyber monkey um i love the
i love the trump fingers he did as well that was
that was cute that's inadvertent that's inadvertent i know i know i know i i i i saw you do it i was
like that's all right uh adam uh earliest you've gone black friday shopping if uh if ever well i
can tell you how early my parents went because I've never gone and I'm
proud to state that.
Um,
but my parents woke up at like four in the morning to go.
Actually it was three and they felt so stupid going that they never went
again.
There was once when,
when I was like four years old,
they never went again.
I, old they never went again i i've gone black friday shopping like every other year but i
usually go with my cousins and the only reason is because my aunt's birthday is always like either
on thanksgiving or around thanksgiving so we end up celebrating our birthday that on thanksgiving
or black friday or whatever and so me and my
cousins will go out to the mall about noon or something like that and go find ourselves a
little gift for her at that point but i i've never gone out at the crack ass of dawn to shop
play to the apes is a great movie great movie at least the new ones i i've seen the old ones
they're they're not that great speaking of remakes uh gladiator 2 is coming out or is already it's
already out and i i'm not watching it not giving it a chance why from everything i've heard about
it because it's been spoiled to me um of course it's not worth watching and it has it's kind of a disgrace
to everything the old one stood for it just feels like they they came out with a new gladiator movie
just for the sake of coming out with it the score Hollywood man the scores of the the scores of the old one were amazing.
The acting was great.
There's motivational quotes and inspirational quotes everywhere you look.
The writing of the story was amazing.
The dialogue was awesome.
And then they came out with this shit?
I'm not giving it a chance.
Fair enough.
I've never actually seen Gladiator 1,
so I'd have to
actually watch the first Gladiator
to even ponder the second one, but I've
also been told that Gladiator
2 seems like it's one of those
movies that you don't need to watch the first
one to understand what's going on in number 2.
Watch the first one and don't watch the on in number two. So I don't know. Watch,
watch the first one and don't watch the second one.
Yeah.
That's,
that's my recommendation.
Anyways,
I got the chiefs,
but give me the Raiders spread.
I,
I,
this game's a stinker.
I,
this game's going to suck either way.
Like I don't have any explanation besides as what CJ called Adam's pick
vibes.
I didn't give a pick yet for the dolphins, for the dolphins.
Yes.
Yeah.
That's vibes because it's going to be right.
Um, yeah.
Give me. um yeah they give give me that too yeah listen give me give me the chiefs chiefs are taking this one easy this i mean this is a bad
slate of thanksgiving games and one black friday game and this is is what we saw this out of. We saw this last year, too, with their first ever Black Friday game.
Miami at New York Jets.
The Dolphins swept the floor 34-13.
I mean, it was not a close game.
And I think that's going to happen again.
And we are going to have an 11 and 1 chiefs
team where honestly i don't feel like they should be 11 and 1 because the chiefs are
they probably have the ugliest team to go 11 and 1 of all time i mean it's just getting bad
and thank god for theills ending that whole thing.
Because if they go undefeated with what they've been doing, I...
Yeah.
So give me the Raiders.
Rather, give me the Chiefs.
Also, Gardner Minshew is done for the year.
And Aiden O'Connell is in.
Do you think Aiden O'Connell has a better shot against the Chiefs than
Gardner Minshew? No. I forgot all about that. I forgot that
AOC was taking the reins fully.
CJ, what say you?
Hold on. Hold on. Let me guess.
The Chiefs by a billion.
Chiefs by three billion, actually.
But yeah, now look, if you're like me,
I'm old enough to remember last season where the Raiders upset the Chiefs on Christmas Eve or something.
And Jack Jones with the ball holds it to a Chiefs fan and says,
no, I remember that. That was funny. Patriots legend Jack Jones, you know, with the ball, holds it to a Chiefs fan and says, no, I remember that.
That was funny.
Patriots legend Jack Jones, by the way.
But once again, it doesn't matter.
That was, yeah, no, it was Raiders beat the Chiefs like this time last year, right?
It was Christmas Eve.
Or was it Christmas Eve?
It was some holiday game, yes.
Or maybe it was Christmas Day.
I don't know.
But my point is, that's not this team.
It's just not.
Their starting quarterback is Aiden O'Connell,
which is a step down from Gardner Minshew,
which is, at least in 2024 terms, a step down from a quality starter.
And their running game is non-existent.
On the bright side, they have Brock Bowers and Jacoby Myers.
Their defense is literally Max Crosby and Nate Hobbs.
And yeah, no, that's all I got.
There's no reason it shouldn't be Kansas City,
but I have this sneaking suspicion that much like the Panthers did,
the Raiders are going to make it close also because, you know,
division game, wonky stuff happens, I tell you, in division games.
But, yeah, there's no reason it shouldn't be the Chiefs.
So, forgot all about this.
We're in week 13, and teams are – there's a couple teams that are already
on the verge of clinching a playoff spot
and it's the Bills, Chiefs, and Lions
good thing I remember this
because now that we're on the Chiefs
but we already got past the Lions
but get through it real quick
so basically Kansas City
can clinch a playoff spot with it.
Obviously a win straight up or a Miami loss on Thanksgiving or a Denver loss
or a chargers loss in a Denver tie or just like I said,
straight up or Kansas city tie at Miami loss, uh, Detroit
clinches a playoff spot with a, now this is a little bit more redundant than the chiefs,
uh, a win and a San Francisco loss in Arizona loss, a Seattle loss or a, and a Tampa loss, a Seattle loss, and a Tampa loss, all those including a tie.
Yeah, that's basically it.
They basically need those four teams to either lose or tie,
and they have clinched a playoff spot in Week 13.
But they also have to win.
One more thing about the Raiders.
Brock Bowers,
rookie tight end,
top 10 in receiving yards as a rookie tight end,
which is insane to think about.
74 catches,
744 yards,
only three touchdowns though.
With how bad the Raiders quarterbacks are,
they do a damn good job of getting that guy to football, which is weird to think about because when you think about it, you would think that a backup quarterback or just a bad quarterback in general is just not going to be able to get the best players, the football as efficiently as say the best quarterback,
really, which is why Devante Adams left.
And now he's still on a very shit team,
but they quarterback that probably can barely get him the football.
Uh, honestly, one would think so about Cooper rush and CD lamb,
but Cooper rush actually gets the ball efficiently to CeeDee Lamb,
almost at a higher efficiency rate than Dak Prescott.
But that's just a little tidbit.
I just wanted to shout out Brock Bowers for his incredible rookie season
that he's having right now.
And unfortunately, if it wasn't for the million rookie quarterbacks
that we have in playing right
now i think brock bowers would get a lot more love for what he's doing he hasn't gotten any
media attention whatsoever even though he's had arguably the best uh he's at arguably the best tight end rookie season of all time like he's not he's getting
he's getting yards which that which tight ends never get um and he's also he's getting in the
end zone too which is something you also never see i mean we saw it from kyle pitts his rookie year um like but overall looking at brock bowers as a whole like
i mean three touchdowns is pretty good when you look at how this is we're going into week 13. He has enough time to score more than, more than what Pitts got.
So yeah.
Brock Bowers is currently on pace to break Mike Dick is
receiving yards record by a rookie tight end at 1076 For Ditka and
Brock Bowers is currently projected
114
Receptions
And over 1100 receiving
Yards so
I mean the most on this list really
Is Sam Laporta from last year
And he had 86 and Brock
Bowers is projected
114.
So imagine if Brock Bowers actually breaks these records.
He might stand alone with these records
for almost as long as Mike Ditka probably did.
Obviously, we're now in a different point of time of football
where passing is much more frequent than it is in the 1960s,
but the point's still being.
That also happened to be Mike Ditka's only 1,000-yard season,
which sucks, but I mean...
Hey, still all-time tight end.
Listen, he I mean, Hey, it's still all game tight end. Listen, it definitely is.
And it's a different game today than it was before.
Maybe if Mike Ditka is playing in today's game,
then you're looking at a much different career.
So a hundred percent.
Any last thoughts about Raiders Chiefs before we move on
cool
now she sees what she get you know
yeah
our last topic
something that we do every single year on
Thanksgiving and you know it's
it's the typical
Thanksgiving thing you ask the guy next
to you the little girl the guy
that's to your right, to your left.
Maybe it's your grandfather.
Maybe it's your uncle.
Maybe it's your long lost cousin,
your brother.
That is the black sheep of the family.
What are you thankful for?
You want to know what I'm thankful for?
I'm thankful for football.
For football life and happiness you know you could always when when we go around the table and say what we're thankful for you
could always say like i'm thankful for my family i'm thankful for. You could always say, like, I'm thankful for my family. I'm thankful for my friends.
You might say somebody in particular,
but you'll always get that one douchebag who's like,
I'm thankful for the food that's right in front of me.
Hey, is he a douchebag, though? He's thankful that he's being given life on a silver platter in front of him.
God himself has blessed the food that is sitting in front of him that day. I mean, it is a dead bird that's in front of him, himself has blessed the food that is sitting in front of him that
i mean it is a dead bird that's in front of him so it ain't life but well well it's giving you
life its soul goes into yours and you gain more power i think that's how it works higher power
like it's a lot of the it's always the crowd that's like very that's getting impatience like
we've already said grace, we've already prayed.
Why do we have to go? And there's always that one person who just can't, just can't say what
they're thankful for. They're like, there's so many good things. Just say what you say,
your family say, even say the food. I just want to eat. We already have to, we got to pass
everything around. You know what I mean? Like we have to pass all the food around and make sure that everyone gets
everything before somebody digs in.
And it's like, then, all right, guys,
now we're going to go around the table and say, what are you thankful for?
Bro.
See, no, my family does.
Before we actually say grace, we look at my sister.
She's the youngest in the family.
And we all, it's always the same question of why are we here today?
Because we're friends and family.
It's nice.
It's a nice touch,
but everyone knows why we're there.
Let's just eat.
I mean,
you could get into the deep and dark history of Thanksgiving and say,
Oh yeah,
we're really there for,
but yeah,
that's we're just, we're really there for. We're just
thankful for things.
What I am thankful for,
through a football perspective, this season,
my number one...
What are you thankful for
for this NFL season?
I meant to...
You confused me, man.
I meant to say that,
but I wanted to turn it into something else.
You guys can do it.
And you did.
Congratulation.
That was the bourbon who was talking.
I'm going to speak through the Sam Adams,
and I'm going to tell you that I am thankful for this rookie class,
particularly the quarterbacks.
This rookie quarterback class, I strongly believe,
this is the best we have seen rookies perform as far as the quarterback class goes class goes of all time and if this holds
i think we can look at this draft class in the same breath as we did the 2020 class
we can look at it the exact same way, in fact, better than the 2018 class
where Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson came out,
and we can also mention Baker Mayfield
because he's had a career renaissance with a new team.
And I think it will eventually rival the 1983 class
where Dan Marino, John Elway, and Jim Kelly came out of.
I think it will.
If it holds, all I'm saying is if it holds.
Let's talk in five years.
Let's talk in five years.
We can talk in five years, but we have to do a show now.
So I am telling you that as far as how they are
performing right now three of those quarterbacks so the last time six quarterbacks were taken in
the first round was 1983 half of them became hall of famers and you had one extra pro bowler
you need three hall of famers right now to at least match it. So let's look at Drake May looks really good.
There's lots of promise for Caleb Williams.
Jaden Daniels is the popular pick for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
And we're also going to look at Bo Nix,
who is hot on Jaden Daniels' heels for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
If we can just get two of those guys in the Hall of Fame,
we still have Michael Penix and J.J. McCarthy.
J.J. McCarthy I'm not quite so high on,
but I like Michael Penix.
The chances that one of those two become very good quarterbacks in this league,
I think that's decent.
So if we're hoping that three of these guys become Hall of Famers
out of this draft class, six quarterbacks, and one becomes a pro bowler,
I like those odds.
So I believe this is going to be a very good draft class.
I've been very high on it from the start,
and I think this is going to be very good.
So I am very thankful for it.
And as far as for us, for podcast hosts,
looking for stuff to cover in a league year that has been,
as far as quality of play goes, has been going downhill.
I mean, it wasn't good last year, but it's worse this year.
And we've been looking for things to talk about.
And as far as, I mean, I'm sure you guys have already been able to tell,
but we've covered it quite a lot.
And there are storylines with every single one of these rookie quarterbacks,
and it's been fun to cover.
So I'm very thankful for this quarterback draft class
and how it's turned out to be.
Well, from a football perspective, as a Pats fan,
I was going to say Drake May.
You can still say that.
I'm not very thankful for drake may i'm not
broad mail or alex van pelt yeah but honestly
this might sound uh weird but i am thankful for an actually somewhat different MVP race.
It's not just Mahomes and everybody else.
Lamar might win his third.
Josh Allen is right there with him.
Some would say surpassed him.
And there's a running back in it, for Christ's sake.
You got Saquon himself.
And Offensive Player of the Year, you got Derrick Henry.
You got Saquon himself. And Offensive Player of the Year, you got Derrick Henry, you got Saquon.
And, you know, so nobody's running away with that,
although Saquon is creeping past him.
Offensive Rookie of the Year is a battle between Knicks and Daniels.
Defensive Rookie of the Year is a battle between Quinion Mitchell and Jared Verse.
Defensive Player of the Year is a battle.
You know, you got TJ Watt, Sexy Dexter Lawrence,
pause, no ditty, and Chris Jones.
So my point is, I'm thankful for the parity in awards.
That damn near every award,
no one is just running away with it.
There is a fight for all of them and it's not
just like a foregone conclusion who's gonna get what there's some of these might come down to the
wire and it's a great story i like it you know, to expand on that. Adam's about to disagree. Did you just knock on wood when you said pause no ditty?
Yeah, it's something we don't do.
He does that every time.
Yeah, you know, you got to knock, keeps the ditties away.
That's true, folks.
It's a CJ guarantee.
Kamala Harris approved.
Hey, yo, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
we're not political, I've decided.
Anyway, so Chrisris you were saying um you know you bring up saquon barkley being in the running for mvp you could honestly
because um cj you love to say it the mvqb or whatever mvqb yep yeah and you know you mentioned
saquon barkley as potential MVP frontrunner.
I mean, you could even throw Derrick Henry.
Derrick Henry and Saquon are the only two running backs
that have 1,000 yards, and they're at 1,300.
The next closest is Josh Jacobs at 944.
Now, the only thing that I would say the only thing that Saquon has on Derek
Henry,
that's going to help Saquon pull away in this number one,
this top running back race offense or offense player of the year race,
maybe MVP is Saquon doing this in one less game than Derek Henry.
So he's averaging more yards per carry.
He's averaging more yards per game by 16 yards,
but Derrick Henry has three more touchdowns.
So you got that.
And Derrick Henry also has two less carries than Saquon.
But yeah,
I,
I'm going to definitely second that with you though,
CJ,
in terms of that,
because it's tired.
Like obviously it's a little tiring seeing Lamar in the,
in the MVP running, but now you got Josh Allen,
who would have thought that Josh Allen would have finally been in the MVP
running because,
you know,
18 interceptions isn't going to win you an MVP anymore like Kurt Warner did in 2001 or whatever that was.
And who knows?
Maybe we do get Saquon as the MVP.
That'd be cool.
Oh, yeah.
First MVP in philly history
but yeah thankful for football for life for nfl rookie qbs and the
um newfound parody of the nfl. I'll give you one more.
Yeah?
I'm thankful for Josh Allen and the Bills.
If it weren't for him, yes, not only did they beat the Chiefs,
but that Bills team is probably the only thing that is standing
between the Chiefs and winning a three-peat.
I think not only are they going to beat them,
not only did they beat them
in the regular season but i think they are going to be the last line of defense to keep them out
of the super bowl this year and listen for all the chiefs fans out there that may be listening
um i hate you i hate the chiefs but i respect them So just because I'm rooting against them does not mean that I'm trying
to devalue their dynasty. They are certainly a dynasty and they're going to go down as history
as one of the dynasties of all time. But I respect Patrick Mahomes and he's one of the greatest
quarterbacks of all time. And I think he's going to win at least one more ring before his Superbowl before his, uh,
before his career is over.
Right on.
