seahawks continue their free fall after a three and oh start and week six pick them
for all of that slate of matchups this is the fumble ruski podcast it may not have always
showed it in the stat sheet but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws
back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns. Someone's got to get that six or seven spot. He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie. Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome to the Fumble Rooski podcast by Power 88 and Secret Weapon Consulting. I'm Adam Wright
with CJ Medeiros. We have another episode planned for today and we are going over week six.
If you can believe it,
we're already six weeks into the season.
That's just,
it feels like,
I mean,
it's going fast.
It's insane.
The off season goes by so slow,
but then once the season starts,
then it's just,
it just accelerates.
And it feels like yesterday it was opening night
and listen we we take every week like it's a blessing we love getting our football and we
are going to continue here we have our game picks for week six we also pick our weekly fumble ruski
game of the week which is where we go over what we believe is the best, most anticipated matchup
of this, uh, of this slate of games. Um, but first we're going to do a little recap of Thursday
night football, the 49ers beating the Seahawks and taking the division lead in the NFC West. The Niners win 36-24.
They go into Seattle and take care of business.
And the game was, I mean, the score was relatively close,
but you could clearly see that it was, if you watched the game,
you could clearly see that that final score is a little bit mischievous, for lack of a better term.
The 49ers were up 23-3 at one point in this game.
And yes, the Seahawks did somewhat come back and make it a matchup.
It became a one score game. As late as the fourth quarter, there was one,
there was one minute, just over a minute left. But they still just couldn't complete the comeback.
My take on this is pretty simple. Listen, I still believe the Seahawks are a competent team. I still believe
that Geno Smith is having a career renaissance. He's playing the best football he has ever played
in his entire career. That is all still true. And this Seahawks team is still a good team.
Problem is, I don't think they were as good as this 3-0 record suggested. A lot of people were
very hyped up about this Seahawks team rightfully so they looked good
but those three wins were against the denver broncos new england patriots and the two of lists
the two of less i mean it's i gotta want to make sure that you understand what i'm saying dolphins
that's who they went 3-0 against
That's not good competition
And it showed in the next three weeks
When they faced the Lions
And now the 49ers
I know they faced the Giants
I know that they lost to the Giants too
But upsets happen
The Lions and the 49ers are the biggest ones
Those are two teams that are expected to contend this year,
and you lost to them.
And you lost to both of them by two scores.
It wasn't particularly close.
So when you look at it that way,
I mean, this Seahawks team will probably be in playoff contention,
but they're not going to be in Super
Bowl contention. And I think we're seeing that now they're not to suggest that this team should be
right now, you know, five and one, six and oh, that's just wishful thinking.
Gino Smith is a good quarterback. He's not that good. And their wide receiver core is
really good. I'd say it would be a championship contender, not that good. And CJ, I know there's
a lot of injuries as well with the Seahawks. Yeah, that's true. Now, when you look at their
3-0 start, you can kind of compare it to a little kid getting a sugar high, right? You know, you're
on top of the world, but once it leaves your system, ooh boy, the fall is fast and steep. However,
we need to be honest with ourselves. They have gotten some really bad injury luck. For example,
not many people outside of Seattle may not know that they're missing both of their tackles in George Fant and Abraham Lucas. Fant is on IR and Lucas is on the pup slash reserve list. Not great.
Linebacker, Travis Gibson, who's been emerging as out. How about this? Defensive tackle,
Byron Murphy II, you know, your first round pick, gone. Center, Oluwatimi, I butchered that, and Olu, if you're listening, I'm sorry, is out.
One of their backup tackles, Saitoa Lamea, out.
Corner, Reek Woolen, out.
And other corner, Trey Brown, banged up.
And their third corner, Artie Burns, questionable, still, also banged up. And their third corner, Artie Burns, questionable.
Still also banged up.
And it seems like the only healthy one they have in their backfield is Witherspoon.
And on top of that, Uchenna Nwosu, one of their young emerging defenders, has been placed on IR.
He's got a really horrific quad strain.
I mean, you know, usually we just hear a strain.
It's like maybe it's a week or two thing nope no it's not so their o-line and their defense they are getting
slowly some of their front seven back but it's just not enough when you look at the fact that
they're that their center and both of their tackles are gone one of their tackles probably
for the year and that their offensive i mean their defensive front has just gotten a sledgehammer taken to them.
It's going to make winning hard.
Do I think they were going to beat the Niners regardless?
Probably not.
I mean, it is a division game and wonky things can happen.
But, I mean, maybe they could have beaten the Lions.
And I didn't see an article that said
oh mike mcdonald was supposed to make the defense better he didn't well it's like well yeah literally
everybody and their parents are hurt on that teams oh i'm gonna play devil's advocate and say
injuries have been holding them back especially against against the Giants. But, come on.
I mean, first-year head coach with Geno Smith, he only could have done so much.
And look at Geno, right?
It's not, it's just 30 for 52.
If you need Geno Smith to throw 52 times in a game, you might not win.
You know, 312 yards, but that was really more by volume than by explosiveness.
He had a touchdown, two picks. But for me, what's really hurt Seattle, and the team stats will
reflect this, that two-headed monster they have of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet,
yeah, disappeared. That two-headed monster got a double beheading i don't know what it is
i do know why it's the offensive line just continues to just get more and more chunks
taken out of it zach charbonnet five carries for 20 yards four yards of carry it's solid
kenneth walker 14 carries 32 yards is 2.3 yards a carry and a touchdown.
The running game has become so inefficient, and I'll end on this.
The Niners had 228 rushing yards on the night.
Seattle had 52.
Yeah.
They've become one-dimensional.
Right.
They have a good running game, but the problem has been that they're playing from behind.
It's hard to run the ball when you're playing from behind because you're not going to come
back from a double, a two score deficit.
When you're playing from behind, you're not going to, you're not going to come back from
averaging four yards of carry when a throw down the field can get you 15 yards.
It's just, it doesn't work that way, right?
If you're playing from behind, basic game script is going to have you throwing the ball,
which is why Gino Smith threw it 52 times.
So that's, I mean, that's an important aspect. If they're going to play a run first,
run first offense, then you can't have Gino Smith throwing the ball that much. You can't be playing from behind.
Last week against the Giants, Smith, he threw 40 times.
The week before that, he threw even more than that.
He threw 56 times.
Listen, I like Geno Smith.
His time with Seattle as a starting quarterback has been the best he has
been the best he has played in his entire playing career.
Problem is, you can't lean on him.
You just can't.
You have to be winning because of the pieces around you with Geno Smith.
You can't be relying on Geno Smith to have you come back,
which means you can't be throwing the ball, meaning you have to get ahead early. If you don't get ahead, you're not going
to win the games. And they have good passing pieces. It's not like they're not holding their
own. It's just that when you play in a shootout, Gino Smith isn't winning you the game. He's not.
I like Jackson Smith and Jigba. I like dk metcalf i like tyler
lockett but as long as gino smith is throwing them the ball i like the opposition in that matchup
i'm sorry especially when it's jared goff brock purdy and it's gonna get worse all right let's
move on uh we're going to get to our ruski game of the week for week six that's
next this is the fumble ruski podcast it may not have always showed it in the stat sheet but you
can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws back-to-back games where he has three
touchdowns someone's got to get that six or seven spot he's an elite wide receiver as a rookie. Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome back to the Fumble Rooski Podcast.
Adam Wright with CJ Medeiros.
We're on to our Rooski Game of the Week.
We have the Lions at the Cowboys.
So it's important to understand that the reason we picked this game,
this is a good matchup in itself. But the fact of the matter is the last time the lions and Cowboys face, it came down to the last possession.
The lions managed to get a game tying score. So it was supposed to be.
And then Dan Campbell made, he made the bold and I, i believe stupid decision to go for two instead of just playing
for overtime taking the game tying score they went for two on three separate occasions and
were given that chance because of penalties one of those attempts they managed to complete the pass
but one of the players was clocked in as ineligible
downfield. So they had to do it again. And then they got another chance after that.
They decided to again, go for two at no point was Dan Campbell ever thinking of going for just the,
the extra point play for overtime. You've come all this far to come back from a Cowboys team that was winning the
entire matchup. And you had all of the momentum. You didn't think let's play for overtime. Nope.
Let's just win the game. It was a controversial call because the Lions still to this day believe
that, um, and I'm forgetting the name of the tackle. Taylor Decker.
Taylor Decker, excuse me.
This is all off the top of my head right now.
Taylor Decker says that he clocked in as eligible,
and he said that the refs acknowledged that.
Turns out the refs dispute that.
So it's a lot of just back and forth lots of controversy in this
game we're not going to go over that we're going to go over this matchup for this week lions at
cowboys um and this is still projected to be a very good matchup i think with the way the lions
have been playing defense at the early part of this game, the early part of this season rather,
this game is scheduled to be at 425 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Fox.
With the way that the Lions have been playing in the early part of this season
on defense, and the way the Cowboys have just lost player after player to their front seven
due to injury. I don't believe defense is going to be a thing this week. And I believe in a matchup
between these two, the Lions have gotten significantly better. The Cowboys have gotten
a little worse. I'm taking the Lions in this matchup so for me i just want to open with one thing about
the last time these two teams met wouldn't be doing my due diligence if i didn't we have video
evidence of decker meeting with the refs beforehand which is and there's like images of him talking to
them beforehand which is why it's so controversial.
But what did they hear?
What did he say?
We don't know.
It's either here or there.
Here or there.
The past is the past.
I just want to say that's why it's controversial,
because we have evidence of him talking to them.
We just don't know what was said.
So for this game, Adam is right.
Defense is going to be at a premium.
Oh, God damn it. But it's all right. It's all right. Defense is going to be at a premium. Oh, God damn it.
But it's all right.
It's all right.
But, okay, he is, though.
He is.
Literally and figuratively.
You see, Lions defense has been kind of weird so far.
I mean, they had their flashes, but they're still gelling.
You know, that takes time.
But the Cowboys, they have a lot of star power on defense,
but all that star power is hurt.
We don't know if Parsons is even going to play this week.
Allegedly, he might not.
Demarcus Lawrence, I think, might be on season-ending IR.
And Diggs might not even play this week because he's banged up as well.
Literally, like, their three best players on defense
are all hurt one of them definitely not playing and the other two might not as well
so it's going to be an offensive showdown obviously but i want y'all to wise up to this
i think the lions are going to win because j Goff, he's got some good weapons.
Jameson Williams is breaking out.
He still has Laporta.
He's got Amon Ra.
And that running game is a two-headed monster with Montgomery and Gibbs, right?
The Cowboys' offense, if we compare, they don't have that luxury. The Cowboys offense is horrifically one-dimensional. They have the washed-up Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle, who I'm pretty sure they don't like, considering the fact how painfully underutilized he is. And whenever he does get his snaps, he sure as hell doesn't do anything with them.
So when I look at the fact that Dallas almost exclusively has to throw the ball,
they have one option, don't they?
It's CeeDee Lamb.
Cooks is gone.
Might not be back at all. Jalen Tolbert is fine. Kevontae Turpin is fine, I guess. He's more of a gadget player, but to each their own. Lamb's going to have to step up because you know that the Lions will have the freedom of ability
to say what you want about their defense to double team Lamb on every play. And we have seen
Lamb when he gets frustrated, oh, it's bad. You see him yelling it back. He'll apologize. Then
he'll do it again, right? I i mean he did it against the steelers
after he apologized for doing it so i don't know so i don't know what's going on there but i guess
maybe dax have to lean on jake ferguson but overall the fact that the dallas offense has
become this one-dimensional meanwhile the lions have a plethora of options
i expect the lions to roll into jerry world and get it done
yeah this is just like i guess the the best thing the cowboys have going for them is the fact that
uh maybe my maybe micah micah parsons plays he's currently listed as questionable um
they don't even have brandon cooks he's on ir the best thing that they have going for him is the
fact that the lions have not completely gelled yet on defense and that's only a matter of time
i mean like they have the players they just need the time to gel as a unit
which historically teams like this with a lot of new faces just takes time and then they eventually
figure it out uh so that's something that you if you're that's something that you need to look at
and make sure while they're still struggling to get it together that you take advantage of that. I think maybe Dak Prescott can still find CeeDee Lamb a million times
and just rely on him.
But that's a really tough ask when the Lions have some electric playmakers
themselves, not just Amon Ross St. Brown,
but Jamison Williams is finally starting to look like the first-round pick
that he was drafted to be years ago uh you have sam laporta you have a two-headed monster at
running back and they're working behind golf is working behind the best offensive line in the
league there's not much negative thing there's not many negative things to say about this Lions
team, but there's plenty of things to say about the Cowboys right now. They've been riddled by
injuries and they failed to replace Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott as running backs. I know
Ezekiel Elliott's still on the team, but come on. It's the ghost of Ezekiel elliott he is not the same guy he once was if you're if you're
expecting 2016 ezekiel elliott even 20 let's say 2018 elliott you're not getting that not even
close um and he can complain all he wants about the workload he's getting about how he's treated
not the same as he was his first during his first stint running backs age like milk
and ezekiel has he already turned 29 is he already 30 he's damn close yeah i'll check
he's in his late 30s he's in he's in his late 20s i know that much which is already a red flag for
any running back but he's 29 30s's usually running backs fall apart at that point
unless you're derrick henry but unless you're derrick henry but he's built like he's built
like a tank i mean come on i didn't expect him to play this well and who knows if it actually
if it actually lasts for henry maybe it does i i'm i'm rooting for him but history is not on his
side all i'm that's all
i'm saying with henry but we're not talking about derrick henry but we will in a bit
all right so that concludes ruski game of the week we're both taking the cowboys
excuse me i misspoke we're both taking the, but we might see because of the lions defense,
we could see some fireworks.
Maybe this is a close game.
Maybe the Cowboys pull out an upset.
Who knows?
Maybe the,
I mean,
maybe the Cowboys defense just outdoes itself right now.
They're shorthanded,
but who knows?
Maybe something happens.
I'm,
I'm rooting for a good game.
I'm not a fan of either team.
I picked the lines to be my super will pick. So I, I kind of, I lean towards them because I also
think they're a better team, but we'll see. All right. We're going to get into our game picks
for this week, week six. We're going to start with a 1 PM slate, then go to 4 PM Sunday night
football, Monday night football, all that good stuff. That's all next. This is the Fumble Rooski podcast. It may not have always showed it in the
stat sheet, but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws. Back-to-back
games where he has three touchdowns. Someone's got to get that six or seven spot. He's an elite
wide receiver as a rookie. Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome back to the Fumble Rooski Podcast. I'm Adam Wright with CJ Medeiros. You've reached our game pick portion of our Friday night show. We always preview the upcoming week with some game
picks. A Rooski game of the week. Sometimes we recap Thursday night football if the matchup was good enough. But here we are with the 1 p.m. slate and I'm going to purposefully,
actually, no, I'm not starting with this matchup. We're going to start with the earliest matchup
which is at London. Jaguars-Bears at 9.30. It's always a better week when we get football in the
morning. You just roll out of bed and there's football, and I love it.
I think the worst part about Sundays is waiting for 1 p.m. for the games to start.
I love it.
And there's no team that has played more football in London since it started
than the Jacksonville Jaguars.
They played 11 games over the past 10 years since they started doing it.
And here's their 12th coming up the fact
of the matter is the jaguars have won their last three out of their last four matchups two of them
were last year so trevor lawrence and company they're very experienced going across the pond
they're facing the Chicago Bears.
I know a lot of people are going to be riding with the Bears,
understandably so, because their defense has been stingy this year.
It's been better than expected.
They have some really good targets that they've added over the offseason and during the previous offseason as well.
And Caleb Williams has been playing much better
football as the season has gone on he's been getting better which is if you're a bears fan
you should be encouraged problem is he's still a rookie and the kid hasn't been across the pond yet
the jaguars are experienced over there and they're still desperate for wins. They're one in four. They just won their
first game last week against the Colts. And it was a hard fought game. The game before that against
Houston, it was a hard fought one as well, even though they lost this Jaguars team is too good.
Excuse me, not bad enough. I'm not going to say this, this Jaguars team is good because they,
I mean, they're talented, but they just haven't put it
together. And I don't know if they will, but they're not bad enough to be one in five.
And I think in an experienced spot, you're a young bears team who's a bears team. They're
good right now. They're looking better, but you're going to experience some turbulence with the
bears. For that reason, I'm picking the Jacksonville Jaguars to win this game.
I think they win two straight.
The Bears will be fine this year.
They'll be up and down, but they're not going to continue rolling like this.
That's the way it works with young teams.
Yeah, I am going with the Bears, but a lot of these people, I will say,
are a bit too comfortable choosing them.
Because let's face it, where are the Jaguars playing? They're playing in London, aka New
Duval. Because let's be real, they're basically going to be there. Hell, in the next 10 years,
I wouldn't be shocked if they relocate there, because you know the NFL would totally do that but honestly I don't know I just I don't trust
this Jaguars defense it is abysmal I really don't I know they're used to playing there and Caleb
you know hasn't made the big trek across the pond but strictly from a roster standpoint you'd have
to go to Chicago because I mean the jaguars ground game is okay you know
etn's good bigsby i think also is a case brb1 but i just they haven't wowed me yet and it looks like
the entire passing game is going through the rookie brian thomas jr which understandably so
we knew he was going to be a beast when he was drafted. Come on. He's a stud. Oh, yeah.
But I just think Chicago has enough options on defense to the point
where if Caleb Williams can just stand there and not screw up,
which I feel like he's at least capable of,
then I feel like Chicago can win this.
However, this is going to be a close one.
Yeah, this could be a very close one and a very underrated
matchup this week. Next matchup is the Texans at the Patriots. Drake May's first ever start.
And as Patriots fans, we could not be more nervous about it.
You have Drake May going and going and playing in front of the worst
offensive line statistically not just this season so far but if it holds their 36 pressure rate
allowed that's the worst pressure rate allowed since pro football focus has been tracking pressure rate.
And it's also, even if it comes down six points to 30%, it's the worst that we've ever seen in four years.
This is about as bad as it gets.
That other team case you're wondering, Adam told me, was the 2020 Panthers.
So not great company to be in, I think.
Yeah, the Carolina Panthers.
Yeah, so needless to say give me the texans in
this one uh they came off a hard they're coming off a hard fought win over the patriots division
rival bills we're probably winning the division um and i think they're going to continue it i
think they're going to continue to roll over this team.
The Patriots on defense have been, yes, they're injury riddled,
but it's also playing much worse than expected.
The Texans are clicking on all cylinders.
Their defense is about as good as it was expected to be.
Their offense is about as good as it was expected to be,
and they lost Nico Collins, which might slow them down a little bit,
but if you have Stephon Diggs and Tank Dell, you're going to be fine,
and Dalton Schultz, and Joe Mixon coming back.
That was what you said, Mixon's coming back, I heard.
So, yeah, there's that.
For me, I also have to go with Houston.
I just, if, I would be so much less scared as a pats fan if may had an average line but like i said just or like adam alluded to new england's just too
injured really to play i mean they were never going to be really good but the fact that they
caught the injury bug on top of not being good has just made things look even worse than they already are.
Bentley, the single caller for the defense, done for the year.
Jabril Peppers has been placed in the commissioner's exemplus because it turns out offensive skill position players aren't the only things he likes to assault.
And Kyle Duggar probably won't play as well.
So just, and even without Nico Collins, you still have Diggs who New England has struggled to find
an answer for when he was with the Bills. The only thing I'll say for the offense though,
May is infinitely more mobile than Bursette. So maybe he could make more plays and I would
expect to see more pass
attempts. New England actually maybe semi-competently moving the ball through the air,
but starting against Houston, you're just being chucked right into the fire and
yeah, nah, just give me Houston. It shouldn't be close.
Yeah. And before I move on quickly, I just want to address one stat that's been flying around the internet, particularly through Patriots fans.
And the issue has been that Jacoby Brissett has had 2.9 seconds of time to throw, which is among the highest in the league. um i i want to do it's listen it's a true statistic it's a misleading statistic because
they're trying to use that as reason to bring it to to justify offensive line play saying it's not
that bad saying they're getting clean pockets i want people to know that there's a very big
difference between time to throw and pocket time time to throw is the time when the quarterback gets the snap until the quarterback releases the ball. Pocket time is the time from the snap
until the pocket collapses or a defensive player breaks through. So
Brissette's time to throw may have been 2.9, but a lot of that's rolling out of the pocket,
tucking the ball and running himself and running for his life.
So yeah, he has the ball and he's not down as soon as the pocket collapses,
but that's just because he's running like a chicken with his head cut off.
And what is his pocket time, Adam?
2.4 seconds.
An exact half second difference. 18th in the league tied
for eighth technically but there's so many that are tied with 2.4 that it's all it is eighth in
the same way that it's also 18th which doesn't say that your line is good it just says that
everyone else's lines are bad which is i mean I mean, that's bad on the league,
but it's also bad on us. 36% pressure rate allowed is the highest in the time that pressure rate has
been tracked. And it's, and it's even if it comes down to let's say 30%, it's the worst in four
years. They don't have a good offensive line.
Stop trying to make excuses for it because Drake May is going to get killed.
I'm really, I'm nervous for him.
I hope he does well.
I hope he doesn't die.
We'll see what happens.
All right.
Our next game, we have the commanders at the Ravens. The commanders are riding.
They're riding a bit of a high right now. And ever since losing on opening day to the Buccaneers,
37 to 20, they've racked off four straight victories, and they're getting more and more convincing.
The problem is he's a rookie quarterback,
and I think a lot of his... This kid, Jaden Daniels, he's the real deal,
and I think he's going to be a very good quarterback in this league.
My thing is, if you give it the eye test,
you can see that he's making throws,
but he hasn't really established himself as a passer yet. He's more so making these plays with
his legs, which is fine, but you have to be a more well-rounded player if you're going to be
a dual threat quarterback. You can't just rely on the legs. You eventually need to develop that passing ability. You can clearly see the talent is there
and they'll probably, they might be a playoff team anyways. I just think that this luck runs out.
I think you've experienced a little bit of turbulence with Daniels and I think
the exact time will be this week against the Ravens. The Ravens are
red hot right now. You have a player who may win his third MVP award in Lamar Jackson.
Derrick Henry is turning into an ageless wonder. Their passing ability has been fine. Their defense
needs some work, but Ravens defense has always figured it out.
I'm taking the Ravens. Ravens win this one at home.
Yeah, the Ravens have done an insane turnaround from where they were.
It seems like that Buffalo game was the switch flip they needed.
And for the commanders, yeah, Jayden Daniels is the real deal.
He's on the fast track to win offensive rookie of the year oh but the ravens against lamar which is you know
a fully realized jayden daniels i'm not gonna lie also i just don't trust that commander's defense
more specifically their secondary.
I mean, to be fair, their front seven has got a lot weaker after they had that all-out fire sale last season.
So I'm not going to belabor the point.
Derrick Henry plus Lamar can give any defense nightmares, especially a defense that's just as suspect as the commander's defense.
I think Jayden Daniels will be able to keep it interesting
because the Ravens' defense has been underperforming,
but I just don't think it's going to be enough.
Yeah, and like I said, Jaden Daniels has shown that he can do everything.
It's just that he's clearly not a finished product just yet.
He looks really good, and he's winning games in the NFL.
That's awesome.
I just don't think he's there yet.
I think he'll be fully developed year two, maybe year three.
He's playing very good football.
He's playing behind a decent offensive line that's keeping him on his feet.
It's been fine.
And, yeah, they'll put up a fight.
I will say this was almost our game of the week.
This was our second choice.
Oh, yeah, this was choice number two.
You can't not pick lions
cowboys there those games are always interesting all right our next matchup browns eagles
give me the eagles the eagles look bad but the browns look much worse
and we could i mean we could turn this into another we another game pick of just bashing
deshaun Watson,
but we've already done it to death.
It's a dead horse.
Everyone knows what Deshaun Watson has been.
It's not going to change.
And they refuse to bench him.
Yeah, I think it's a Haslam thing apparently.
And it sucks too because I definitely think Haslam is going to end up costing Stefanski and Berry their jobs,
and it sucks.
But, oh, well, it's got to be Philly, right? Once again, we're not saying Philly's going to make a
turnaround, but come on, they're playing Cleveland. And the quarterback who, I found this out,
has more sexual assault cases settled out of court than he has touchdown passes his time in
Cleveland. That is sad. However, I do want to throw in this wrinkle for
Philly. If they somehow managed to lose to Cleveland, I wholeheartedly believe that Sirianni
is going to be flung from the city. He's going to get fired if they lose.
He already will. If they don't lose this game, then they'll lose another game. I think he's
already gone, to be honest. Yeah, he is on borrowed time, but if I were a betting man,
I'd put money on that if they lost to Cleveland.
They were going to lose.
Come on, they're not going to lose to Cleveland.
Yes.
Eagles wide receivers A.J. Brown and Devontae Smith
and right tackle Lane Johnson off the injury port
will play versus Cleveland.
Oh, so yeah. Tom Pellicissero right now so easy win for them all right moving on to our next matchup cardinals packers this is
going to be a fairly competitive matchup another it'll be a game um now that jordan love is is back
he clearly had a lot of rust to shake off.
He put up decent statistics passing, but also made a lot of mistakes.
Four touchdowns to three interceptions, and I believe it was around 400 yards.
That's such a Brett Favre line, by the way.
Isn't that such a Brett Favre stat line?
You throw a bunch of picks, but you throw so many more touchdowns
and yards that it just doesn't matter,
and he's going to be a really good quarterback in this league.
Just keep him out of the state of Mississippi, and he'll be fine.
Yeah.
I'm taking the Packers on this one.
I think this is a matchup where, again,
Love had some rust to shake off last week,
and I believe that they're going to put it together this week
and then they're going to beat a Cardinals team that's,
they're 2-3, they're not as bad as I thought they would be,
but they're not good enough either to dance with a team like the Packers.
Jaden Reed has a very good rapport with Love uh, with love right now. And I strongly believe
he's their new wide receiver one. And I think he's almost, I'm pretty sure he's developed now.
Like he's there, which is rare for a Packers wide receiver one. Usually it takes them a few years.
This just took two seasons, which is good for them. Um, yeah yeah so give me the packers on this one
yeah i mean i think the cardinals will be able to put up some points
but it's it is the packers game to lose and i do have the packers winning
solely because come on cardinals defense is not great and love and the boys should be able to feast.
If they also found what's ever going on with Rovio Dobbs there,
I don't know what's going on with him.
He's, like, unhappy with his usage.
But either way, Jaden Reed and Luke Musgrave are more than enough.
Or Tucker Craft, I mean.
Yeah.
All right.
Buccaneers, Saints.
The Saints are hosting.
And the Saints have looked fine.
I guess their 2-3 record is not as bad as it indicates
because a couple of these teams that they lost to were,
I mean, they've lost three in a row but all three
were against the eagles falcons and the chiefs all good teams that we expect should be in the
playoffs i know the eagles have been on and off but a buccaneer the buccaneers are another good team give me the bucks yeah i gotta go with the bucks also oh my god the derrick car has broken
down and there's drawing rookie fifth rounder spencer rattler i think he'll be fine do i think
he'll be baker and the boys absolutely not give me tampa yes. Spencer Rattler is a player who fell to the seventh round,
who has some promise.
Where was he?
Fifth round.
Yeah, he was around there.
Yeah, he was supposed to be a first-round pick years ago,
but he ended up being really bad with Oklahoma.
All right.
Here we go.
Colts, Titans.
Before you make your pick, I already know that Anthony Richardson's on course to start.
No Jonathan Taylor, though.
Will Levis is already going to start.
He's been confirmed to play.
Still give me the Colts. The Titans, as long as they have Will Levis as their starting quarterback. This sounds like a complete 180 for us on the show
because we were very much praising the Titans for the moves they made this offseason. We're not.
We're not. We said it was all very dependent on how Will Levis plays. I said if Will Levis is
even average, this Titans team is going to be competitive. He's not even close to that.
In fact, he is so bad that this Titans team may be a cellar dwelling team.
So yeah, give me the Colts as long as they have Will Levis as their quarterback.
Yeah. And I know the thing about Anthony Richardson is the project's project leaves
a lot to be desired makes like three good
throws a game and the rest are terrible however Will Levis is that much worse and we did say yes
we are heaping praise on the Titans but we but like Adam mentioned we said that we're gonna find
out fast if Levis can ball or not and oh my god we cannot boy have we found out fast holy
there's like no room for debate even this kid is just bad he's more known for the memes and yeah
richardson or not taylor or not hell i don't even think they're gonna have pittman i still got indy
because will levis is just that terrible is it gonna going to be ugly? Oh, yeah. But is Tennessee going to win?
Oh, no.
I'll take, I mean, I said it before,
I'll take Will Levis' bodybuilding advice over his quarterbacking advice,
which he's, I mean, he's a well-built guy.
He has good physique.
Problem is, he's not a linebacker.
He's a quarterback.
So you kind of need to be good
at quarterbacking and have something upstairs you know what i mean like a kind of a brain
um and not make a complete jackass of yourself uh it's not all in the muscles but here we go
we're going to go to our 4 p.m and and primetime slate that's next.
This is the Fumble Rooski Podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the stat sheet,
but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws.
Back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome back to the Fumble Rooski Podcast.
I'm Adam Wright with CJ Medeiros.
Here we are going to our 4 p.m. and primetime slate of games for Week 6.
Again, Week 6 has flown by already already week six has already begun with thursday
night football we've already talked about that seahawks game um the seahawks will be fine they'll
they're what we well they're what we thought they were they're not a bad team but they're not as
good as their three and all records suggested but that's besides the point
our 4 p.m and prime time games here we go going to chargers broncos the broncos have won a few
games they're three and two and bone nicks i mean it's the jury's still out i wouldn't say he's
going to be good but i wouldn't say he's going to be good, but I wouldn't say he's going to be bad either during his career.
We're still trying to figure things out.
Sean Payton's a very good quarterbacks coach.
He hasn't set up Bo Nix for failure.
The Broncos have a decent offensive line.
The games that they've won, they beat the Buccaneers 26-7.
Good job. That's a good
win. Uh, you beat the, you beat the Bronco, uh, you beat the jets 10 to nine bad game,
beat the Raiders 34 to 18. I mean, they've won some games and they may be like a middling team,
but I don't see them being a playoff team. and i'm not saying the chargers are going to be but the chargers also have a good quarterback
a quarterback's coach and they also they have justin herbert they have a little bit more going
for them than the broncos do so for that reason i'm taking the charges they're gonna win this game on the road yeah and look i think denver is just a weird team they're able to grind out some victories
and honestly that score over the raiders was really deceiving in my eyes because if you watch
that game it was ugly it felt once again more like the raiders lost
but hey and and you saw sean payton absolutely tearing apart bo nicks on the sidelines but hey
hey come on denver can still get it done they fail upwards and i can appreciate that
nicks was i mean though that wasn't just sean if you look at clips from Sean Payton chewing out Russell Wilson last year
to Bo Nix and Sean Payton going back and forth,
Nix doesn't let Payton get away with it.
He lets him hear it too.
It shows that there's some passion there.
That's something I like about Nix.
I see something there.
I see something there.
That's all I'm trying to say about nicks oh no there's totally something there i mean at barest of minimum he
can be a game manager and that's his floor which means there's definitely something to build on
however i'm still going with the chargers for one reason alone better, better coach. Because Jim Harbaugh, he's a darn good coach.
And Justin Herbert, hoo boy.
This man, I mean, obviously, you know, he doesn't have the weapons he's used to.
But they're making it work.
They've been fine.
And I think that's what it's going to be this year is fine.
Until they get some better weapons.
Which sucks because they just had them five minutes ago.
They just had Mike Williams and Keenan Allen and Austin Eckler,
but they also had bad offensive line playing bad coaching.
So I'll trade that for I would rather take a good offensive line
and good coaching over some elite flashy targets
because those targets don't matter if you get hurt
or if you can't see them and you have a bad coaching scheme.
So I think they have it where it counts.
All right.
From one sucky matchup to another, we just brought up the Broncos and the Raiders in that matchup.
We're going to the Steelers and the Raiders.
Oh.
And this is a bad matchup. And I think this is going to come down to Justin
Fields and how he, this year has played mistake free football. We said last week that the Cowboys
were going to win this game because Justin Fields needs to do more than just play mistake-free football. That ended up being true.
This week, he can do that.
He can actually just play conservative ball,
just not turn the ball over, make the throw when it's there,
roll out of the pocket when you see an open lane to run.
He can do that and win this game because the Raiders are just that bad.
So, yeah, give me the Steelers.
Absolutely correct. I got to go with the Steelers because this is one of those games where, like
you said, you're allowed to play conservative. And better yet, you know what's even better than
that? The Raiders are a team that's just collapsing in on themselves.
The locker room is extremely dysfunctional.
Antonio Pierce went from the player's coach to just a man making business decisions.
Devontae Adams actively wants out.
So the Raiders are going to beat themselves before they beat another team
gimme pittsburgh yeah all right so we already covered lions cowboys because that was our game
of the week now we're going to falcons panthers give me the falcons i'm i'm not even going to
provide any other explanation to that the the falcons are gelling. The Panthers, they just a couple of weeks ago
benched their first round quarterback, Bryce Young. And having Andy Dalton isn't going to
make things any better against this team. It's really not. I do think Dalton gives them a better
chance to win, but that's like your chances of winning going from five percent to six percent
you know what i mean it's marginal like you said no explanation needed give me the falcons they're
getting hot at just the right time yeah all right here we have the bengals and the giants this is a
sunday night football game and i don't know why it is it's just this is our primetime matchup this looks
more like a thursday night football matchup um and deceivingly the bengals have a one and four
record and the giants have a two and three record the bengals are visiting the giants
give me the bengals they need this victory victory. Any team where I have the
Bengals are favored to win, I'm going to pick
the Bengals because they need
this victory. They've been playing
their best ball. I've been
hearing from people
a take that Joe Burrow is playing
the best ball of his career. I believe
it is.
12 touchdowns to two interceptions.
Ever since that one hiccup on week one against new england
he's been on fire but give me the bengals yeah the thing is though the bengals defense
is completely cratered the offensive line no matter how many pieces you can put on it i
mentioned before you could get in a time machine, bring back Jim Otto,
Anthony Munoz, and Hog Hannah, and they would still suck. It is coaching. However,
the Giants don't even have Malik neighbors. And I just think the Bengals are a little bit
better on offense than the Seahawks are. So once again, give me the bangles.
Shouldn't be super close.
Cause you saw how they were playing against the Ravens last week.
However,
if they somehow lose,
I fully expect Zach Taylor to get canned.
You're going to give him a Hugh Jackson treatment.
Yeah.
All right.
So now we're going to,
now we're going to go to monday night football we have the
bills visiting the jets i've said so many times in our group chat for the for the show um i said
off camera before we started i was so tempted to pick the jets fresh off of that coach firing
of the of robert sala they also demoted their offensive coordinator
they're attacking their weaknesses which i mean at the top of the list the top of the list it is
definitely coaching which we have pointed which we pointed out during our last episode on tuesday
the thing like the thing is we saw what josh allen did when he was shorthanded last week against a juggernaut texans
team he held his own they very nearly won the game i think out josh allen has an ability to do more
with less and he's going to be able to do whatever he can in order to win this game i think they
it's a narrow victory but watch out for the upset.
That's true.
Another thing with Allen that a lot of people got to realize is, can he do more with less?
Yeah, but he might be concussed, or at least more than what Buffalo's letting on.
And if you saw how he played at the end of that game, it was atrocious.
You know what I mean?
Three straight incompletions on the final drive, very clearly rattled.
And the Jets, I know they have a good defense, but there's one thing that people that might be optimistic about the Jets have forgotten.
And Adam, I think you probably know this, but are you aware of who their new play caller
is on offense?
It's Todd downing and when i say the name todd downing every titans fan from maine to
san diego is going oh god every titans fan no titans fans worldwide when i say the name todd
downing immediately get that flashback to run run pass punt run run past pun that's what they did and the jets you may have escaped
nathaniel hackett but now you got todd downing and honestly i don't see it getting better good
defense or not give me the bills and that's such a doesn't that sound so familiar like that's
literally what the jets have been doing which has been failing is playing
that dink and dunk style of play when they should be going vertical with aaron rogers throwing to
garratt wilson and mike williams and alan lazard they've failed to realize that that's what you're
supposed to be doing so yeah i just give me the jets give give me the bills give me the jets. Give, give me the bills.
Give me the bills.
Give me the bills.
The jets are just the jets.
And I,
I,
I don't know if they'll ever,
ever figure out their little issues over there.
All right.
