When all seemed lost for Minnesota, J.J. McCarthy threw a pick six, and it seemed like the Vikings didn't find their guy.
Well, hold on. Wait a minute. What's going on here?
J.J. McCarthy storms back and comes back and wins and beats the Chicago Bears?
His first start?
What a way to cap off week one. Week one in general, just absolutely amazing.
Bill's overcoming a 15-point deficit in a 41 to 40 win over the Ravens.
Aaron Rogers goes to MetLife, 34 to 32 victory, throwing four touchdowns.
And the Chiefs get their first win against, or their Chargers get their first win
against the Chiefs since 2018.
Probably the most meaningful win since 2018.
This is the Fumbaruski podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the statute, but you can see him making throws when
he needs to make the throws back to back.
games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome to the Fumble Ruski podcast by Power 88.
Dean Radio and Secret Epic Consulting.
He's C.J. Medeiros resident Ravens fan, Justin Tucker.
I'm Chris Costage.
Week one is already over, and I'm so hyped up over football.
I love football.
Holy moly, did we see some fucking games?
Holy Christ.
That was so amazing football we saw this week.
And we're going to start with Monday night football since it just happened.
J.J. McCarthy, NFL debut, gets the win, 27 to 24.
We'll talk about the Bears in a moment, but we're going to stick with the Vikings right now.
Third quarter, J.J. McCarthy throws his interception, and I immediately wrote them off.
I wrote them off.
I said, you know what?
This Vikings defense, they're looking good.
They're looking all right.
There was a couple times where the bears were running all over them.
But the Vikings offense just looked dead.
The O line was just letting anyone and anything into the backfield.
J.J. McCarthy did not look good at all.
He looked all right in the first half.
It wasn't fantastic.
Third quarter was not his best.
But the fourth quarter was when everything, it was when everything started.
really come together for Minnesota to the point where going into the Bears final drive,
not the one with 10 seconds left, not that final drive, but going into the Bears' final scoring drive
that last two-minute drill that they had was they had minus one yard in the fourth quarter.
Minus one yard in the fourth quarter.
That's how big of a turnaround the Vikings had in the final 15 minutes of this ballgame.
Jordan Mason looked fantastic.
Aaron Jones wasn't his best day,
but caught a big, big pass down the sideline to get six.
A little underthrown from JJ, but that's all right.
He ended up finishing 13 for 20, 143 yards, two touchdowns.
The aforementioned pick six as well.
Also had a rushing touchdown.
Jordan Mason had 15 carries 68 yards.
Justin Jefferson, quiet day.
Tough first half, as mentioned, four catches, 44 yards, and a touchdown.
Either way, this Vikings team found a way, and J.J. McCarthy got the job done.
Thoughts from you, fellas.
Tuck, we'll start with you.
First and foremost, I'm happy we're starting with this game before we talk about another game.
Second foremost, congratulations to the Minnesota Vikings.
I thought they weren't going to win this game just based upon how J.J. McCarthy was playing,
but I wasn't willing to write him off yet. It was his first NFL, actual NFL game. Let's give
him a shot. But then he started to comeback. And then he threw that touchdown pass to Justin
Jefferson. I was like, is he? Is he? Could he? I'm like, all right. He did all right. I wouldn't
say he passed, but it was satisfactory enough from the move on. That's the way I would look at his game.
I thought he did solid and he did enough to win them the game in the end because I didn't think Chicago was good enough to win it, especially with that O line that they have.
Jesus.
They need to give Caleb Williams some help.
I know he wasn't perfect on the day, but it's hard to be to look good when you have that O line in front of them.
So hopefully they can fix that because I do believe Ben Johnson can help them.
But if that O line isn't there, it doesn't matter how good of a play caller you are.
They're not going to get and go anywhere fast.
But I think this is more of Vikings won it than the Bears lost it.
I think J.J. McCarthy proved that he does have some of that medal that he showed at Michigan,
and I think he can help improve the Vikings over time, and I think he will get better over time.
I think this was solid. I saw it overall game to see how he bounced back.
And yeah, congrats to the Vikings.
J.J. McCarthy is the first Vikings quarterback to throw multiple touchdown passes in his day.
debut since Fran Tarkenden in 1961.
Guess?
I want you guys to guess who he did it against.
Oh, my God.
Was it the Bears?
It was the Bears.
CJ, your thoughts.
Oh, my God.
The Bears just can't have anything nice, can they?
They literally had the game wrapped up.
Then they just said, you know what?
Nah, here you go, Vikings.
McCarthy did what he had to do.
you know, they weren't asking him to do a whole lot.
He managed the game.
He has his crutch in Justin Jefferson, you know, very, you know, steady play calling,
not asking him to do a whole lot.
He relied on his talent.
And he got the win.
And while the Bears did end up out meeting them and they did hold on time of possession,
we got to tip our hats to the Vikings defense for actually, you know, shutting down
Chicago.
because Chicago, they were one of those teams that absolutely improved, right?
And, Tuck, you mentioned the offensive line.
They brought in Drew Dalman.
They brought in Joe Tooney.
And for that Vikings defense, you know, with Brian Flores as the coordinator,
they were able to keep a lid on Caleb Williams.
You know, Williams solid-ish day, you know, a touchdown, no picks,
and another touchdown on the ground.
but they stifled DJ Moore.
Roma Dunzee, he did have that touchdown, but he was more of a short thread.
He only averaged like 6.2 yards of catch.
Cole combat, Colston Loveland, got locked up.
So, yeah, I definitely got to say, hats off for the Vikings here.
Kevin O'Connell, like I said, gave a good scheme to McCarthy, you know, didn't ask him to do a whole lot.
But then again, it is his first real NFL game.
And I keep saying this.
Everyone disagrees, but whatever.
This is essentially his rookie year.
But he is going in with a little more knowledge, you know, after like watching on the sideline for a bit.
And they should get better as the season goes on, especially when they get Addison back.
And McCarthy got it handed to him, you know, came out, handled his business through a really ill-advised pick six.
But, but hey, hey, two extra touchdowns makes it a little bit better.
and with that talent around him,
there's no reason the Vikings shouldn't have their guy.
Yeah, it,
J.J. McCarthy did a solid job.
Yeah, he struggled a little bit,
but the fourth quarter is where he shined.
It's safe to say that we still don't know
what to expect from JJ right now
because it's, he's only played in one game.
We still don't know what this kid has in him,
but we know he's got a lot of fight in him.
So maybe the,
the Vikings did find their guy who we still don't really know but we'll have a whole season to watch
which will be fun uh look at the bearside first game under ben johnson the offense was solid
at times the defense was fantastic but i feel like the offense still was a lot to be left
desired say the least does that make sense
I feel like that they wanted to get more that they were trying to get more but they couldn't
I feel like Caleb Williams was kind of hampering them a little bit there was a lot of
throws where it could have really changed the momentum of the game
a couple overthrows especially in goal line situations
I don't know.
That's just me, though.
Or maybe it's just me.
What do you guys say?
Maybe it's just Caleb.
Maybe you just miss some throws.
Yeah, possibly.
But once again, like Chris mentioned earlier,
I know that they just rebuilt the offensive line,
but it was pretty alarming.
Granted, he was only sacked twice,
but there was a defender in his face like every other play.
But then again,
could just be if they need time to jail.
Jury's still out.
Hey, guys, it's, oh, it's only week one.
Yeah, exactly.
It's only week one.
Let's, let's not overreact too quickly now, you know.
We'll get to that.
Speaking of which, the two sacks that you had mentioned, CJ,
Jvon Hargrave, who is one of the additions for,
for the last year, huge edition from the 49ers.
Yeah, honestly, let's get into the overreactions now.
Bill's overcoming a 15-point deficit in beating the Ravens 41.40.
Look, Ravens were dominant all day long.
I'm not segmenting Adam.
Just put up the banner.
We're getting right into it.
I'm not waiting any longer.
I want Tuck's opinion now.
I'm going first.
Yeah.
I'll save the actual recap after we get.
I'll take leave the floor for you I know we said we're not going to overact to week one but there's a difference between overreacting to a to one week versus a trend that has been happening over the past couple of years this has been happening at bare minimum since 2022 and it pisses Ravens fans off every single time we will have a double digit
lead in the fourth quarter yet somehow some way inexplicably we lose these games and i don't know how
this happens this one hurts more than others it hurt when we lost to jacksonville in the 22 season
along with the giants it happened in the 23 season and happened in the 24 season it just keeps
on happening it just keeps on happening consistently if you ever go on raven's twitter we have a like a
score graph of every single time it has happened and there are multiple double digit leads late in
the fourth that we end up losing and it just bothers us to no end i never get this mad i got really
mad last last sunday i couldn't i turned off my tv i went downstairs and i had to tell myself
justin it is one game don't care this much it's not supposed to hurt this badly i could
couldn't even think straight after the game. I just couldn't believe what I saw. I can't even
talk about DeAndre Hopkins one-handed catch. I can't talk about the greatness of Derek Henry and
Lamar Jackson. I can't even talk about the return of Zayflowers and how he had the most
receiving yards in week one. I can't even talk about the offense and how good they look, except
for that one person, I'm about to get to the right guard. I'm about to get to him. I can't
even talk about the greatness that we showed on offense scoring 40 points. I can't even, I can't even
I can't even, I can't even be the hater I want to be saying how some of these plays the
bills got were just fluky as hell and they did not deserve it. I can't even be upset about
the fact that Ed Oliver got away with a roughing the passer call that Josh Allen would get that
Lamar never gets. I can't even be mad at these things. I really want to be mad at these things,
but I can't let it go because the one thing that pisses me off more than anything else is our ineptitude to win games.
We should absolutely win.
The bills are not a better team, but I have to say that they are because they keep beating us.
Why did you put up that stat?
I saw that stat and I got angry looking at it.
You want to hear another one that kind of relates to that time?
Let me hear it.
Just tear my heart more.
Just go on.
is the first time since the 60s that the bills have done this that makes me feel so much better
that makes me feel great i can't oh this this really grinds my gears rocuan smith i'm
you need to figure this out because there's no way closer to the camera you're getting blocked
by the banner you see me yeah now i can see you better move the banner if y'all want to see me
I cannot, Rocawn Smith, I need you to, I need you to solve this. I need you to figure this out
because quite frankly, there's no way James Cook should have gotten away from you like that.
There is no way he should have, I had to get Nate Wiggins from across the field to make that
tackle. There's no reason he should have been that close. Jaya Alexander, you get one game,
buddy. I better not see this again. One game. It's his first game as a Raven.
I'll let it go because there's no reason why he should have played that bad.
I understand that he may have been gassed.
I understand that we were getting gashed all game.
I know that we were probably tired.
I don't care.
There's no reason why we should have given up 41 points to this Bills team.
They did not deserve those 41 points.
Granted, did it help that the Ravens gave him some help with that fumbled by Derek Henry?
No.
But again, we still could have won that game.
am I mad at John Harbaugh for punting the ball?
No, I wish he didn't because I trust Lamar Jackson
then our defense at that point in time
because either or they either score and we get the ball back
or they run down the clock and they kick a field goal,
which it eventually happened anyhow.
So either or we put ourselves in a bad spot and we all knew it.
And so I would have rather gone for it,
but I'm not going to sit here and play Monday morning quarterback.
I'll live with it, even though everyone knew
our defense couldn't stop a soul.
Couldn't stop a note.
This team, it's only week one.
It is only one week.
I went through all this on Sunday, had to relax on Monday, and here on Tuesday, I feel like Bill Belichick, after he lost to Kansas City that one time, we're on to Cincinnati.
We're on to Cleveland Browns right now.
That's exactly how I feel.
I need us to destroy someone to feel something about this football team.
Because this is infuriating.
This is disgusting.
This can't keep happening to us.
And if this keeps happening to us, I'm sorry, John, I really like you.
John Harbaugh, I need you to go because this happens so many times on your watch.
It is unbelievable how many times I believe we're at like eight or nine times now.
I need it to stop.
I need us to finish these wins, finish these games.
but you know who takes culpability the players not the coaches
thank you for thank you for answering the question i was just about to ask if we
were sick at uh john harbaugh yet so uh all right i think uh i think uh that's good
for our raven's part of this game uh let's let's go to the bills also score agami
first 41 to 40 score in NFL history thank you for putting that up adam as the
scoreagami account someone's got a check on them because i don't know what happened that they just
didn't report on it i don't know why uh but the bills let's talk about the bills real quick
josh allen is him that's kind of just my takeaway like josh allen is that fucking guy
lamar is that fucking guy obviously tough let's let's not get out that let's not forget that
but josh allen is that fucking guy and it seems like this new
receiving core he's got is kind of clicking a little bit with him josh palmer didn't have a bag yet
it felt like besides them going down 15
offense was looking solid prior to that fourth court
CJ
all i want to do is point and laugh
the bills fans who left early
oh my god
don't you all feel stupid
and I do agree with what Josh Allen says
you know you left early
don't come back and yeah no
I mean if your bills aren't left early
you've outed yourself as not a real fan
but 251 fourth quarter passing yards
here's an insane stat
if Josh Allen had
zero passing yards in the other three quarters and just the two fifty one of the fourth still
he'd still be in the top ten passing yards for week one i think i'll be at like number nine but
still that's insane yeah they they kind of just like said fuck the running game in the fourth quarter which
i mean sometimes you just got to do especially especially the way the ravens were moving like
they kind of had to start throwing it was one of those times where this was
the very un-Shahn-McDermit game because the typical Shaw-McDermott defense, it got eaten alive
by the Ravens. They had no answers, right? And you could tell this wasn't what Sean McDermott was
calling. This was a Josh Allen game. And look, I'm not going to mince words. This is a classic
example of Josh Allen bailing out Sean McDermott. Josh Allen went off two touchdowns on the
ground two through the air over 400 yards heck keon coleman who's not that good put up over a buck on
the ravens and a score to boot just josh allen definitely had to take the reins he took
matters into his own hand the fourth quarter that's what you know that's sometimes just what you
got to do and on the raven side i know you touched on it but i didn't the only thing i'll say for that is
I agree with Tuck.
At what point do you look at Harbaugh?
Seriously, when do you look at him?
I don't give him that Irm, but he has a ring.
Yeah, awesome.
That's, well, I was in fifth grade when he won it,
and I've graduated college now.
The NFL's of what have you done for me lately league?
Take half of Lamar's criticism and give it to Harbaugh,
because, oh my God.
But Josh Allen, man, maybe he is the MVP.
Maybe he was just the MVP all along.
And we just needed this performance to show us.
Absolutely.
No.
I just realized that they're out.
Don't do this to me.
I don't have anything against John.
I won't.
I won't try to rub more salt in the wound on you, tuck here.
But yeah, I think if we were to be like, let's take a look at John Harbaugh, it probably would have been one of those first blown leads of this part of the decade that you should start being, that you should have started.
be like uh all right i'm so i'm i can't even first off let me just congrats to josh allen he did
play phenomenal he did amazing even though he had a weak-ass touchdown to keon coleman but
outside of that he played phenomenal i can't even hold anything against him because he played so
well my defense on the other hand when he came to the pass rush was non-existent except for that one
sec and that was pure luck i'm hopefully we turn it around next week against cleveland but until then
i'm holding out hope i need this defense to come alive somehow just to wrap this segment up uh josh allen
extends his NFL record uh seventh career game with a at least two passing and two rushing
touchdowns oh congratulations that's that's that's pretty good that has
Has Lamar done that? How many times has Lamar done that?
Several.
I imagine several, but definitely...
Off the top of my head, I don't know.
Yeah.
John Harbaugh, eighth career lost, though, when leading in the fourth quarter by at least eight points.
Most in the NFL since 2000.
So I just said he's probably about eight.
This is the eighth time this has happened.
Yeah.
No, this is the eighth time that this has happened to him.
which is this like that's insane and i and like the majority of them have come this side of the
decade like i i don't know i feel like at this point like yeah like i i'm all for coaches
like spending majority of their career like let's not fire a coach one year in unless like
you absolutely have to and shit like that but like at this point i feel like we're getting to the end
of the road with john harba it's like the same thing that you guys have with brian billick like
billick was good for you guys and got you guys a ring but there came a time where you had to axe
so all right let's move on to our next segment first we're going to take a quick break
when we come back we're going to get into aaron rogers making sure that he beat the jets
and did it for every single person in that front office.
This is the Fulm-Beriski podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the staff sheet,
but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws,
back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome back to the Fulburyski podcast.
He's Tuck.
I'm Chris.
Let's get into the Jets.
Steelers game and the big story, of course,
Aaron Rogers throwing for four touchdown passes
in a 34 to 32 victory.
Steelers outscored the Jets 17 to 6 in the fourth quarter.
And with this game,
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm more surprised about.
The way the Jets played or the fact that Steelers came back and won,
I'm still trying to figure out which I'm more surprised by
because...
I, like, kind of like the Vikings game, I kind of wrote the Steelers off when they went down.
But, of course, Steelers came back and won much like the Vikings did.
The Jets, you aren't expecting anything out of the Jets this year.
You have Justin Fields as your goddamn quarterback.
Like, that's, that's going to, that shows what type of season you're going to have.
But Justin Fields made some damn good throws.
16 for 22, 218 yards, and a touchdown.
Also rushed for two scores.
Breece Hall was running all over the Steelers.
19 carries 107 yards.
Garrett Wilson had a good game.
Seven catches, 95 for a tug.
It's the Jets actually played fucking good.
Aaron Glenn coached a good game this weekend.
But Aaron Rogers had a little bit more hate in his heart this week.
That's basically what it came down.
out to he wanted to and he said in his post game interview he wanted to win and in this fashion
for every single person in that organization that gave up on him cinema cinema um but is rogers
i guess the question is is rogers back is he back there's the week one over
reaction question of the day.
CJ, we'll start with you
because you fucking hate Rogers.
I don't hate
Rogers.
You hate Rogers.
You hate Rogers.
Nah, I hate his fans, honestly.
Like the, the Rogers cult
that's like, no, don't you understand?
He's actually the goat.
Not without them.
I'm just indifferent
towards Rogers.
But yeah, their nonsense does rub
off on him because he believes it.
But, oh my goodness.
Is Aaron Rogers back?
Well, to answer that question, I referred to you to a statement I said, last segment, it's only week one.
That's the thing. That's something we got to realize, man. It's only week one.
Stuff can change, you know? And look, Rogers, like you said, Chris,
if he just comes down to the fact that he had just a little more hate in his heart than the New York Jets did.
man that was a he was a man possessed you know 17 points in the fourth quarter to officially put the
jets away like by the way he scored more fourth quarter points and the jets did the entire second
half so yeah so and then there you go that's just how it is and what he did was actually something
very interesting now i don't know if you guys know this i probably mentioned this to you off camera
but now I'm going to say it again because it come full circle.
It came out that the Jets game plan was take the ball out of Justin Fields' hands as much as possible.
Things and dunks here, but we're not going to rely on it.
Their game plan was run, run, and run some more.
Just run through their face.
Once you grab the lead, sit on the ball and tire them out.
And, well, that's did.
Adam get out of my ear. Oh my God. No, I just, sorry, he does this like all the time.
But I'm just saying, so, but that was the plan because Adam was saying,
Irm, but what about Garrett Wilson? Yeah, cool. That's, that's nice. You know, they force fed him
the ball because, you know, he's their only good receiver. He had nine catches,
uh, seven catches, 95 yards and a touchdown. Like, I get it. I do. But once again,
there's a difference between getting open naturally and force feeding.
him the ball that's what they do they force feed him the ball and fields you know 16 and 22 lots
of dinks and dunks uh 218 yards on a touchdown but the thing is what happens when it's a close game
what happens when pittsburgh starts breathing down your neck like they did as soon as they said
all right oh it's a close game hey fields would you like to clutch up field said nah i'm good
and Pittsburgh stormed back because once again air rogers just had a little more
hate. And honestly, whatever happened to this supposedly scary Jets defense, Quinn and Williams,
Soss Gardner, Jamie and Sherwood, what happened? You stifled the Steelers ground game.
Jalen Warren got a grand sum of nothing done. Kenneth Gainwell flopped. He did nothing.
Rookie Caleb Johnson had won carry for two yards. You knew the Jets were.
going to be passing, especially in the second half.
You knew that it would just be pass, pass, pass, and you couldn't stop it.
You knew what they were going to do and you didn't stop it.
Look, maybe it's just because Aaron Glenn's the first year head coach.
Maybe, I don't know.
But long story short, that you put Pittsburgh's back against the wall and Pittsburgh bit you.
That's just how it is.
and maybe the whole just their game plan of just run, run, run,
occasionally force feed Garrett Wilson,
but take the ball out of Fields' hands.
Well, I clown them for it, but now I understand it.
You know, when Fields actually had to start passing,
beyond dinks and dunks, it was largely ineffective.
But, yeah, that's essentially it.
Rogers, though, four touchdowns.
Like I said, man-possessed.
Man-possessed, indeed.
Tuck, your take.
Man, I just disagree with that.
I watched that game.
I don't think they allowed Justin Fields to win that game.
I saw him throw that 30-year-plus-yard touchdown to Garrett Wilson.
I thought, oh, my goodness.
They're actually going to let him throw the ball like that.
But then there were a lot more dense and tons passing.
I thought the run game was effective, even though it got stuffed every now and then.
I thought the passing game was good, but it could have been better.
And again, they scored points, but Pittsburgh scored more.
I think the beginning of the end was that kickoff return that turned into a fumble.
Once that happened, they scored a touchdown, then the fumble, and then you give Aaron
Rogers the ball back again for your defense that was just on the field.
A touchdown is imminent if you're worth your salt on offense.
So that already put the just behind the eight ball here.
And that didn't really help matters.
and when it mattered most
and you put the ball in Justin Fields' hands
he got it to Garrett Wilson for the first down
even though the clock was running
Garrett Wilson just got blasted by Jail and Ramsey
on a good play.
All in all, I liked what I saw from the Jets.
I think they can trust Justin Fields
a little bit more than what they were showing.
I think he can handle that much
because I think he had more responsibilities
in Pittsburgh. He just didn't have the right play callers
like he does with the Jets.
I thought Quinn Williams did show up
at least in the first half. I saw him making play.
and I'm pretty sure he had a sack on the day.
So it's not like he wasn't, he was ineffective or he wasn't there.
The running game for Pittsburgh was largely ineffective,
which means they had to rely on the pass.
I think the main thing for me, when I saw, like,
Aaron Rogers completing passes for, like, slanted for Pat Fireman for, like,
eight or nine yards, and then D.K. got wide open for this, for a long run.
I thought Aaron Rogers was phenomenal, but I thought the Jets could contain them,
but if the Jets didn't score anymore, that would become a problem.
problem because Aaron Rogers
once he sees something he'll keep on
attacking until he scores. So all in all
I like what I saw from both sides
unfortunately. The Jets
still have a little ways to go.
The Pittsburgh Steelers seem
legit and all on all I think
it was a great game. I thought it was one of the best
until Sunday night and Sunday night
happened.
I do have to give credit to this game.
It was given the lowest
over under at like
38 and a half of all the of every single game in week one and they ended up putting up
the most points uh or put up the most points in terms of the uh week one sunday afternoon slate
so kudos to uh stealers and the jets but to wrap i'm not i'm still not expecting much
from the jets and i think i still have a lot of questions about the steelers i think that's
going to be uh the way that my take goes on this one all right we're going to take quick break when we
come back. We're going to talk about the Friday night
South Palo game. Chiefs
Chargers with Chargers getting
in the wind, 27 to 21.
This is the Fulmariski podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the

Chargers get the win, 27 to 21.
Justin Herbert, baby.
Justin Herbert got the job done.
This was, the start of this game kind of went the way that we thought it would be a little bit.
A bit of a rock fight, bit of back and forth.
And it was back and forth.
But in the sense of the Chargers getting the lead,
just not giving it up the rest of the game.
Probably one of the bigger moments of this game,
which was small,
but still somewhat of a big moment.
Harrison Bucker missing his extra point attempt
to keep it out one run,
baseball in my mind right now,
one point game.
It's our job, so, you know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh, there was a one point game for the most part, uh, or not for the most part, but you get what I mean. Um, and the chiefs in general just did not look good. Uh, Patrick Mahomes was their leading rusher. Six carries 57 yards and that touchdown. That like that goes, that kind of shows what type of game the chiefs were kind of having to play here. Uh, Chargers defense looked pretty solid. Um, leading receiver was Hollywood Brown. Uh, Xavier,
where he played barely a quarter and now Lord knows how long he's going to be out because
I think I don't know if it got confirmed but that was most definitely a dislocated shoulder
he got like as soon as you see the trainer reaching up into a guy's shoulder pad like that
and doing what they're doing that's a dislocated shoulder he's going to be done for a couple
months.
Mahomes did not look good.
He was overthrowing his receivers a lot.
And then the second half came around, and I thought that the devil was going to do it again.
I thought the devil was going to do it again.
Thank God it didn't happen.
As soon as I saw him parallel to the ground and complete a five-yard freaking pass that went for like 10 or 15, I thought
the Chiefs had it in the bag again.
I thought the Chiefs were going to get it done.
I am sitting with my coworkers in Polar Park on a Friday night,
and I am now yelling in the lobby.
They did it again.
They can't keep getting away with this.
This motherfucker Mahomes can't keep getting away with it.
He didn't get away with it because Justin Herbert was on the other side of the football,
and he showed up.
25 for 34, 318 yards, 3 touchdowns.
No interceptions.
seven carries 32 yards omari and hapton did solid um wasn't the greatest game but quentin johnston
looked like fucking randy moss canaan looked like the keen and allen of old which makes
sense because prior to him leaving and going to the bears he was getting like 15 to 20 targets a game
from herbert so you knew that he was going to get target a lot and lo and behold he got 10 targets
on Friday night.
Seven for 68, one touchdown.
Ladd McCawney had a solid game.
He was kind of a quieter game considering that Quinn Johnston stole the show.
Quinn Johnson stole the show.
I don't understand it.
Fellas, take the floor.
I don't care who goes first.
I can go first.
All right, Chuck, you go first.
You just go first.
Quinn Johnson looked like the white receiver.
We all thought he was supposed to be.
coming out of TCU.
Oh, he looked like a stud.
I don't know what happened.
I don't know if C.D. Lamb and him did a freaky Friday, and they both reversed.
But somehow, some way, he was able to catch anything and everything coming his way, had two
touchdowns on the day.
He looked big for Justin Herbert for the Chargers in that win.
He looks solid.
And now they have a true wide receiving corps of Keenan Allen, Quinn Johnson, and Ladd McConkey.
I'd be nervous if I was the rest of the AFC
because they have a solid defense and the offense looks good.
I'm not sure if Amarion Hampton will have a game like that again.
I think he'll look a lot better.
But overall, these charges look good.
And on that third downplay when they absolutely needed to have it,
Justin Herbert used his legs, got past Chris Jones,
and had a wide open lane for the first down,
slid to ice the game.
Knock him wide.
That game looked really, really good.
I thought Kansas City was going to make a last second comeback like they always do.
The moment I saw Patrick Mahomes hit that touchdown pass to Travis Kelsey, I was like, oh, no, they're doing it again.
Oh, no.
But luckily, they said not today.
When he threw that fourth down pass and they got it all the, like, they got it all the way down to like inside the tent, I was like, no, no, no.
And he goes, oh, my God.
I will give credit where credit is do.
Patrick Holmes is ridiculous.
I don't know how he keeps getting away with the things he gets away with,
but he is one of one for a reason.
But I think this was Justin Herbert's moment to shine.
He looked phenomenal out there.
I think this is more of the new Justin Herbert that we saw last year,
and I think this will continue on to this year.
CJ, before you gave your take, I saw a funny tweet
or just something funny on social media in general
and it was Patrick Mahomes would be
is the equivalent of James Winston
but if James Winston
actually was successful in the stupid shit he does
because Patrick Mahomes does some stupid fucking shit
like being parallel to the ground and throwing a football
yes
yes
CJ
what is your
what is your take on this game
are the Chargers for real
are the Chiefs sucky
is the AFC West so fucking wide open
right now
say it with me my fellow Americans
it's week one
it's only week one
but it's the fun of this
that's the fun of it
I'd like to answer your question with a question.
Okay.
What the hell happened to that stout and stingy chief's defense?
That was on Steve Spagnolo game.
And I've said this before.
No one listened to me, but now we're seeing it happen in real time,
how they saw, oh, grew about Steve Spadnolo is that he always knows when to Bliss.
He just has that innate sense.
And I've always countered with, actually, it's not his blitz's arm perfectly timed.
He just spams blitz again and again and again.
And this time, this time it caught up to him.
His nervous is getting the ball out too fast, tired out.
But for me, I want to take a look at the final play or the final, like, real play, that scramble.
Chris Jones got, I don't know how you let the Chargers right tackle.
not named Slater or alt just get under your pads like that but he literally had herbert dead
to rights and the tackle just completely sealed them off and i've also heard that oh drew
tranquil was supposed to be qb spy on that play and just didn't get there in time like now
will disley just came up and popped him and what so basically what just happened and the
is already showing in the sense of did you see what happened immediately after that play
Chris Jones and Drew Tranquell just started screaming at each other
Chris Jones say oh you're off your assignment and tranquil I imagine saying something to the
effect of when we needed you most you got manhandled like you saw that play
Chris Jones was lined up on the or the QB's right side his left had a clear shot at
Herbert and the tackle just baptized him that you cannot let that lapse happen and for the chiefs
this is another instance of where the Chargers drew first blood for lack of a better term
and just were one step ahead the entire game and this reflects something that I said during
the Super Bowl and during the offseason.
We always like to hear about the term
Mahomes magic.
But the thing is,
it's supposed to be magic. It's rare,
right? So defenses
are tapping into that and
saying, all right, make Mahomes
beat us. Make him
because they say he can do the impossible.
All right. Now make him do
the impossible every game.
Put the ball in his court.
Let's see.
I mean, it's just statistics.
It's literally math.
It's only probability.
The odds are that he can't keep doing it, and we're literally seeing it.
But the worst part is for the Chiefs is that they look old.
Tuck, you mentioned it, and it's true.
I mean, Mahomes, obviously, he looks fine.
He always does.
That's fair.
But once again, Kelsey proving that he's only good as a volume receiver.
Wide receiver core did not step up at all.
But then again, that's because Kelsey,
He just said, I'm going to run over Xavier Worthy.
That might be something fun I can do.
He wants all the targets.
Yeah.
No, but I mean, obviously, Kelsey didn't run him over intentionally.
That's just, hey, freak plays happen in football.
So Kelsey's like what, 6, 5, 250.
And then you've got Xavier Worthy, who's like 510, 190 soaking wet.
Yeah, that's just not going to end all that well.
And now who are your receivers even?
like is juju still there yeah he's there it's juju and it's like hollywood tycoon thornton um and yeah but actually uh yeah uh i definitely
yeah like i said it was a very un kansas city game that's really the thing it was like it was a very
on can't that that's all i got is this the chiefs aren't a team that make those silly little
slip-ups but once again it's only week one i'm sure there'll be a pain in our ass for you for weeks
to come yeah uh i feel like the chiefs definitely got brought back down earth uh lord knows if
this is going to be a full season thing but i think the charter's going to definitely be for real
this year that's for sure um my last thing that'll say on this is uh
Deshawn Hand had himself quite the weekend.
He got to bitch-slapped Travis Kelsey and not get flagged for it.
And his team won.
What?
I thought it was Tart.
Oh, is it Tart?
I forget what number it was, but either way, oh, yeah, it was Tart.
Either way, Tart, Hand, whoever was, had the weekend of their life
because they got to bitch-slapped Travis Kelsey and not get flagged for it.
And to all the cheese fans that are complaining about it,
you guys get away with everything.
other teams can have one.
Not saying it's right, but if Chiefs fans of Europe set, pot meat kettle.
All right.
One more fun.
We're going to go right into our first top three, bottom three of the season.
Week one, top three bottom three.
First on the list, Bill's Ravens, just the game in general.
It's going to go up as probably a game.
of the year candidate to in all honesty it's it was it probably is game of the year that's
how good of a game it was we already talked about it so i'm not going to get uh that much more into
it uh chargers also on the top three look you find you got the job done and you beat the chiefs
that's basically long and short of it and you look great doing it and you've you showed that
you are going to contend for that a fc west title in a division that
But seeing how everything went in week one is going to be very wide open.
Colts.
Colts put up 33 on the Dolphins on Jim Ursay Day, remembering the life and legacy of their former owner, Jim Ursay.
And they pissed on, they stomped on.
They just completely dog, they just completely boat race the fins.
at a Lucas Oil Stadium
And
Wow, what a way to do it
I mean, Daniel Jones
I don't know what the hell he got
from Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota
But it turned him into
Pretty damn good
Pretty damn competent quarterback
22 for 29, 272 yards
And a touchdown.
This is Daniel fucking Jones
This is Daniel Jones
That we're talking about here
And he did great
Two rushing touchdowns
Like come on
bottom three fins the dolphins uh i think what we are seeing right now is the full-on collapse of the
miami dolphins uh cj you said this earlier and i completely agree with you uh off the show of course
that this is mike mcdaniel's last season like and he could very well be the first coach fire
because this team is softer than puppy shit
softer than puppy shit.
And it all stems from what I was saying on Friday with the report of the Dolphins player
that was saying that the commanders or whatever team they were playing in the preseason
during the joint practices was like fake top, fake hard work or whatever.
Talking about going 110% calling it fake, like soft, soft as shit.
So I wouldn't, I would say the dolphins, if they were to get.
more than six wins, I would actually be extremely surprised.
Next team on the list, the Texans.
You could literally just watch the All-22 and watch C.J. Stroud just run for his life.
Because that's basically what this game was.
The Texans defense did all right.
They did solid.
They held the ram this, what should be a solid Rams, a really good Rams offense to 14 points.
but it feels like it could have been more,
especially with the way that this Texan's offense played.
It just piss poor.
Lammy Tunsel, yeah.
You thought that was a good idea to get rid of them?
Look at your quarterback sitting on his ass almost every single dropback.
Ended up getting sacked three times for 37 yards.
Goodness.
Last team on the bottom three, the Lions.
Ooh, baby.
Talk about getting boat raced out of a freaking game.
This was a boat racing.
And I don't know if I'm not here to say that Dan Campbell is a Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn merchant.
But you're definitely not helping your case with this.
Because the Packer, all week the Packers this week were being talked about as a top five team.
Alliance are supposed to be a top five team.
and especially trying to bounce back after a disappointing end to last season,
this is not the way that you want to start,
especially against the Packers.
Final score was 2713.
It was really 27 to 6.
This was not a game at all from start to finish.
Jared Goff, yeah, his completion percentage was good.
He was not looking good at all.
Just not a good game at all.
All right.
That is the first top three, bottom three of the season.
Can't wait for many more.
That is all the schedule content that we have for you today.
In terms of our pick-um, I decided by myself to read off how the four of us did this week.
Adam, you went nine for 14.
C.J. You and I both went 11 for 16.
Tuck. Tough week, man. Six for 14.
And if you're wondering why the second number for Adam and Tuck is 14,
it's because they didn't have their picks for,
they weren't here. Well, Adam was here on the show for the Thursday preview,
but not for Friday. And Adam didn't give his pick for Thursday anyways.
And Tuck, you weren't here for those two.
games anyways so that's why you guys end up having less games if that makes sense
that's funny tuck pick it up buddy come on i'll do better i'll do better that'll do it for us
