We have now officially entered Super Bowl week, and we continue our coverage.
This is the Fumble Ruski podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the stat sheet, but you can see him making throws when he
needs to make the throws.
Back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome to the Fumble Ruski podcast by Power 88 and Secret Weapon Consulting.
I'm Adam Wright, C.J. Medeiros. Chris Cossich is out tonight. Yeah, he wasn't able to make it. I am sick, so I apologize in advance if I cough or sneeze or do any of that stuff.
Woke up with a very, very sore throat. So that's one of my least favorite symptoms of having a colds. But anyways, we have a special guest on today, and it is,
Robert Shelley, formerly of the Pesky Poll podcast coming from Denver, Colorado,
former friend of the show.
I would say still friend.
You are still friend of the show.
He's in the group, Chad.
He counts.
Robert, welcome to the show for some of our newer listeners who, you know, it's been since the dinosaurs since you've been on this show.
Why don't you reintroduce yourself?
Yeah, it's been what?
Two years now since I've been on?
because the last time we were talking,
I was saying that T.J. Watt was better than Miles Garrett.
We don't need to talk about that.
Okay.
That aged a little poorly.
I admit,
I admit.
But my name is Robert Shelley coming to you from Denver, Colorado.
Still screw the Broncos poverty franchise.
We still rock New England out here.
Okay.
I am a part of the YouTube channel Shells where I post sports and video game clips
that should be linked down in the description.
hopefully if CJ does his job.
Just kidding.
But.
Chris.
Yeah.
Of course it's Chris's job.
Okay, gotcha.
But yeah, that's basically it about me.
Awesome.
Yeah, I completely forgot about Shell's clips.
And all the stuff that you do through gaming and kind of different, you know, different clips about sports.
Want to learn about a random athlete?
You've come to the right place.
All of that stuff.
And people love that series.
It's great. You do some good stuff over there. Listen, we're going to jump right into it.
We're going to start off and we're going to, I was thinking about making this into two different segments, but this needs to be all in one, especially since all of this breaks in essentially the exact same weekend.
So for starters, the Seahawks ownership is set to sell a team after Super Bowl 60. This has been something that's been a long time coming. We kind of saw it.
coming, but now it's actually been leaked that it's going to happen.
They, in response to the leak, Seahawks ownership has come out and said they're not,
the team isn't for sale, but not yet, they say.
So essentially, they're not denying it, but they are saying, you know, that it's going to happen.
Where we're also at is that same weekend.
Seahawks, offensive coordinator, Clint Kubiak, is set to become the Raiders head coach in 2006.
We pretty much saw this coming as well.
But this is where it's like, it's reported, it's going to happen.
It all comes out at the same time.
We're entering Super Bowl week.
The whole reason I bring this up, all of this news is, are these being leaked?
is this going to affect the Seahawks?
How is this going to affect this team in the Super Bowl?
Teams that are just a little stat here, teams who lose their offensive coordinators
or just any coordinators at all passing game coordinators, all of that stuff,
who lose it prior to the Super Bowl since 2005, 2 and 8.
Oh.
So I don't know if this will be.
be this will negatively affect the team. They seem to be a very professional organization as of
right now. But, and Clint Kubiak seems to be a very, he seems to be a professional guy.
How do you think this is going to affect the team and the Super Bowl in general?
Robert, I'll start with you. Personally, I say not at all. Personally, I think this is a,
at least over the past few years, basically ever since they got like pulled off the Russell Wilson
and trade. This has been a very competent, very professional organization that allows stuff like
this to just slide off the ducks back, if you will. They don't care if they're going to lose
their OC. They don't care that the team's up for sale. They got a job to do. And honestly,
I think they still feel not necessarily the new guys on the team or any other guys on the team,
but fans and just the general atmosphere around Seattle is, we got to beat the crows. We got to beat the
out of the Patriots.
Okay.
That's one goal that they have, and I think their OC getting a job, a head coaching job
happens literally all the time, happens at least five times a year.
So that's not going to dissuade them.
And these rumors about the team being sold, like you said, still technically rumors.
ESPN's reporting on it.
It's basically been confirmed now.
But that's been going on for about five years now ever since their owner, who's
the slipping in my mind right now, passed away in 2018.
His sister took over and they've said his dying wishes have been sell the team,
donate the money to charity.
So front office people, execs, all these people have known this is going to happen for a long time.
So they're ready for it.
That's nothing really new.
Something crazy like somebody getting arrested or anything like that.
This is expected stuff that they knew was going to happen.
I don't think it affects them one bit.
C.J.
I'm also leaning in that similar vein as well,
but a new wrinkle has been thrown into the alleged selling of the Seahawks.
This is per the Wall Street Journal.
Apparently, the NFL is pressuring the sale of the Seahawks as well.
As you know, for those who don't know, it's controlled by a trust since the death of Paul Allen
and the league's basically just trying to get it done.
It's like, okay, you've owned it for a bit.
And, you know, they're just trying to push it along
and understandably so that I don't really think's going to impact them too much.
You know, they got some straight gamers all on both sides of the ball.
So I don't think, you know, that's really going to bother him.
Kubiak leaving is intriguing to me because, you know,
he's obviously the mastermind behind that offense.
You know, he's responsible for promoting JSN into the best receiver in the league argument.
He's taken Sam Darnold to completely new heights.
And so I don't know how that's how they're going to feel about that.
But honestly, I think this is more of a rally around the flag thing and say, all right, let's win this last one together.
However, part of me does think that no matter the outcome of the Super Bowl, if Kubiak does leave, we could see the offense take a step back.
But that's a problem for next year.
It doesn't help them.
It doesn't help them at all.
It may at, I mean, look, at best, it doesn't do anything.
But it is, if this affects the game in any way, shape, or form, it should go without saying that it doesn't help at all.
And listen, from our perspective, it seems like this would not affect the team at all.
But let me, and I'm not even making, I'm pretty indifferent towards this.
I think it'll be, if it has any effect, it will be nothing at all.
But let's just play this out just to create a little straw man.
So Clint Kubiak, he has a family.
He's bet he's an offensive coordinator.
He's an aspiring head coach.
This has been years coming.
He's been one of the better offensive minds in the game.
And he hasn't had a head coaching gig.
He's just getting it now.
Meaning the Super Bowl really is no longer the most important thing in his life.
It isn't.
He's getting a head coaching job.
That is the most important thing in his life right now.
and in the back of his mind wherever it is whether it be the most focused on thing or whatever
he's thinking about the new staff that he's going to recruit he's thinking about places to move
into schools to send his kids there's a lot of things that are that are probably on his mind right
now because as far as his personal life and his career the most important thing for him
is building up a program in Vegas and building a name for himself as a head coach.
Being an offensive coordinator and winning a Super Bowl, it's all fine and good.
But when it comes to being a head coach, those are the guys who really make names for themselves,
who hire everybody, who build up a culture.
Those are all things that are on his mind right now.
So just to put it into perspective, I don't think it's going to make much of a difference,
because I'm sure these guys have to think about a million different things already.
But if it does, can't you kind of see the reasons why it would?
Not at all.
Not at all.
I think I think you're high.
I think legitimately he could put that on the back burner for one week.
Okay, for one.
This is a big decision for him.
He just accepted a job.
I totally agree, right?
all the stuff you said, right?
Finding a new house,
finding where to put his kids for schooling.
All that is very, very important for his life.
And his legacy, as you said, with becoming a new head coach,
you don't want to fizzle out.
You don't want to go to the Raiders, Josh McDaniel style,
and just burn the place down.
Right.
I totally get that.
But the analogy that you're putting is the same as somebody saying,
well, X person is the wide receiver three of the Super Bowl team.
Right?
He's going to get a contract.
offer this offseason to be the star receiver on this really crappy team.
Let's just say the Colts.
All respect to Philip Rivers, though.
Okay, that's my guy.
Okay.
But you're saying, well, since he's going to get that contract offer, is that going
to affect his Super Bowl play?
No.
How the hell is it?
He's still going to call the same game.
He's still going to prepare the same way that he did the AFC championship game over an
arguably tougher opponent in Matt Stafford and the Rams, right?
He has more stuff to work.
Well, actually, Rams' defenseers, Patriots defense.
You can make an argument either way.
Point aside.
If X wide receiver 3 has a good Super Bowl, then he gets more money.
If he has a bad Super Bowl, then he gets less money.
It's a completely different.
This is a verbally agreed upon contract that Clint Kubiak just accepted.
He's already there.
He's as good as a Raider.
Now, they can't talk to him.
him, but it's very different from X wide receiver three who's saying, you know, I can do really well somewhere else.
He's, I mean, he still has to play really good football.
And plus, he doesn't have any agreed upon contract.
He doesn't know who's interested in him yet.
That's very different.
Yes, but also Kubiak needs to come in, right?
And if he has a really, can I swear on here?
Go ahead and say it.
I gave up years ago.
If he comes in and has a really shitty game plan.
Okay, if he comes in and he completely craps his pants, right?
That's already going to tarnish his legacy as a head coach before he even walks in the door.
Okay, you bet I'm willing to be everything got.
He doesn't care right now about the Raiders for the next one week.
Once Monday hits next week, okay, once the rest of us clock back into work after watching the Super Bowl Sunday night,
he going to worry about the Raiders.
Don't get me wrong.
But until then, his mind is fully on Seattle, fully on how to beat the crap out of the
on how to expose their secondary.
It's fully there.
How do I know?
It's the Super Bowl.
He's going to the Raiders.
He knows damn well,
he ain't going to see the Super Bowl for at least another seven years.
Why would,
okay,
hang on a second.
First of all,
that's completely wrong.
If you turn around an organization,
you can make the Super Bowl in two seconds.
Okay,
not everyone's Mike Frable.
Not everybody is Mike Brable.
Okay, Mike Frable had to go in and strap
Elliot Wolf to a chair in a closet to get the people that he needed to get the school.
He turned around that organization in two seconds.
Yeah, I don't, I don't see Clint Cuviac.
And Kyle Shannon.
He doesn't have the quarterback yet, but he still turned it around.
Fair, he's going to be able to work and experiment with Mendoza.
This Raiders team is not making the Super Bowl within the next five years.
But he doesn't believe that.
He's not going into it saying it's going to be five years.
If you go into a job interview and say, I'll get you results within five years of me being there.
They will never hire you.
He does not believe that.
You never.
Come on.
I mean, he may not believe that.
I mean, Robert.
This organization sucks, but I want to work for you.
Come on.
I can't imagine him saying that.
Madge holds with that in his introductory oppressor.
The entire city of Las Vegas is going to burn his house down.
But also, before we move on, I do have a question.
Adam, can you relay that stat about teams that are going to lose a coordinator in the Super Bowl?
Teams who are about to lose a coordinator before their season ends, before the Super Bowl,
two and eight.
So listen, I'm not saying it's affecting him at all.
I'm just, if it was, there would be reasons as to why.
Because again, this is a huge decision for him.
He's essentially getting a promotion.
He's taking a job that's going to give him more money.
He gets to create an entire football team, essentially in his image.
And they have the number one pick in the draft.
They're going to get Fernando Mendoza.
They already have Ashton Genti and Brock Powers.
And Tom Brady's letting him say,
letting him, okay, do whatever you need to do with that offense
because we need that offense to do better.
It's a great opportunity for him.
If you don't believe that it's at least, it isn't at least in the back of his mind during this week, I think you're high.
He's a professional.
He's not going to allow it effective in the slightest.
Whether or not this ends up being a distraction is another thing.
But it's on his mind.
And it's probably, it's probably taking up more of his mind than the Super Bowl itself.
This is bigger for him than the Super Bowl.
Just saying.
He has to build a program.
This is his first opportunity ever getting to do that.
He's one of the most sought after offensive minds in all of football.
It's on his mind.
He's thinks about whether it's a distraction or not is another thing.
All right, listen.
We're going to head over to our next portion of our Super Bowl coverage.
What we're going to do, we usually do this over a two-week span,
but our Friday episode is going to be mostly NFL honors awards.
stuff and then we'll get into some more Super Bowl coverage for our Super Bowl special that
airs on Saturday night.
Overall, what we're going to get into our next segment is position battles.
So we're going to get into which team has the edge at what certain position.
We're going to go through all of them quick, rapid fire.
That's next.
You're listening to the Fumbaruski podcast.
It may not have always showed it in the stat sheet, but you can see him making throws
when he needs to make the throws.
Back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns.
Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie.
Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides.
Welcome back to the Fumble Ruski podcast.
Adam Wright, C.J. Medeiros, special guest, Robert Shelley.
All right, guys.
So here's how our position battles are going to work.
These are semi-positions.
So when we go through the interior defensive line, we're just doing the interior D line.
It's not, you know, nose tackle or DTs or we'll do some linebackers, edge rushers,
not outside linebackers, inside linebackers, not the mic.
When we hit on the secondary, we're just going to hit on the secondary, which team has the better secondary?
running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, offensive line, and of course, the quarterback.
Who has the better quarterback in this matchup?
All right, guys.
We'll start up on the defense.
Go with the interior defensive line.
We're just going to rapid fire this, guys.
Who has the advantage here?
I'm going square even.
I think Milton Williams might push.
it over the edge a little bit.
I just have too much respect for Leonard Williams.
I'm sorry, he's a beast.
It's insane what they have.
CJ?
Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy and Milton Williams and Christian Barmore are just,
like they're pretty evenly matched.
However, I'm going to tilt,
and I mean barely tilt New England for the sole reason of Milton Williams
can do it all.
He can rush the passer.
he can stop the run. He's an absolute game wrecker.
And we saw, like, when he wasn't there, how that entire defense just regressed.
Because of that alone, I am tilting New England.
I have a question.
Yes.
Do we add Chris Tonga into the offense or the defense?
Kyris Tonga?
Yes.
Sorry.
Defense.
But, yeah.
Defense.
Defense.
He's more of a.
Hey, that's an elite fullback right there.
I mean, it's not just Barmore and Williams.
It's also Corey Durdin.
It's also Joshua Farmer who might be back soon.
Leonard Taylor,
Lock that field bowl.
It's one of the few spots on this roster for the Patriots.
They actually have a lot of depth in,
like coming out the years.
Listen, Milton Williams,
when he is healthy and playing beside Christian Barmore,
he has wrecked games.
And it's not, it hasn't been just the bad offensive lines.
there have been some really good offensive lines the Patriots have played and there was just no difference.
Denver. No difference. Denver, they destroyed, even though they had all of their lineback healthy.
The bills the first time around when when when like I said, Milton Williams healthy destroyed. It just made life so difficult on Josh Allen.
That being said, yeah, I would say, yeah, slight tilt towards the Patriots.
I think both of them are going to make the quarterback.
I think they're going to make the quarterback's life miserable, both of them.
But I just think the interior offensive line for the Seahawks, it's going to be,
they're just a little worse.
I don't think they're all that good.
Patriots isn't that good either, but I think it's a little better.
Yeah.
me the Patriots. All right, guys. Lineback and core. Who has the edge? I'm giving it slightly to
the Patriots this time. No, like, crazy reason behind it. But I think, yeah, I don't,
I don't really have a big reason for this one. I'm not going to lie. But I might be just
a little biased on Patriots. This is one where I actually have to tell,
Seattle here because I would describe them both as top heavy units, one led by Ernest Jones,
one led by Robert Spillane, but it's about the not Spillains and the not Joneses.
And I like Drake Thomas and Tyrese Knight a tiny smidgen better than Christian Ellis, who's
pretty good in his own right and Jack Gibbon. So I'm tilting Seattle here.
Yeah, Robert Spillane is in that spot where he makes the rest of that linebacking core better.
Christian Ellis, I like him.
He's not all that good, but he hits hard.
And he's getting better.
I think he's gotten so much better as the year has gone on.
Jack Gibbons is really good as well.
But they need that one alpha.
And I'm getting a little worried about Robert Spillane with his ankle.
He re-injured it.
So I would say, yeah, just because of Robert Spillane, the question mark there, I would go Seattle.
All right.
Let's move on to edge rushers.
Who has the edge?
Yeah, funny.
I begrudgingly said that because who has the advantage?
I'm trying to think.
I would go
Seahawks
Probably
Harold Landry is a beast though
I'm saying that
Well not anymore
Well is he hurt for the game
We don't know he hasn't been hurt all season dude
He hasn't been a factor since week four
Well fair but
He's their leading tacker
But most of that came in
I say sacker
That's Jesus
Sack leader
He's their sack leader
Who says Sacker?
It's just, it just rolls off the Commonwealth.
I think Chris would say if I'm going to be perfectly frank.
All right.
So we haven't, we haven't changed since the last co-host.
But either way,
Claibon Chasin is the guy for the Patriots.
And listen, I like Seattle's a little more because for the Patriots is a
essentially a one-man show.
And it doesn't say much.
I don't think the edge rushers are going to be much of a factor in this game.
But I just think Seattle's is a little more stable.
All right.
Let's move it to the next one.
Secondaries.
Hey, I didn't give my piece yet.
Come on, man.
That's Chris, Jay.
Go ahead.
Oh, please.
I was just going to say, I'm still going with Seattle here.
not by quality, but by quantity,
because they have a bunch of guys who can get a sack here or a sack there.
There's no true alpha, but there are people like to Marcus Lawrence and Derek Hall,
Andrew Cheninawosu and Boye Amafay.
They have a lot of different guys who can attack you a lot of different ways.
And just by sheer quantity alone, I think you have to tilt Seattle there.
Also, Harold Landry being dinged up is not ideal.
Yeah, that guy's a game record.
or when he's healthy.
But I mean,
apparently this goes all the way back
to his Titans days.
Like ever since he tore his ACL,
he has not been the same guy.
And he's been very on and off with injuries.
His knee has been affecting him on and off
ever since the ACL tear.
It's, he's damaged goods.
I'm starting to see now why the Titans let him go
because he's just not what he was advertised as.
But if you look at his stats,
you see he has eight and a half
sacks another team would see that and say
ooh, I really like this guy.
Why can't I? I'm going to go grab him.
The Patriots did that. We now
see why. Damage goods.
Damaged goods. Let's go to the
secondary.
Robert,
I have my thoughts, but you give me yours.
I'm rocking with the Patriots.
This secondary
has won games
for the Patriots.
Don't take your head at me. Kristen
Gonzalez is a top three or top
the two corner in the league.
Okay, I'm still giving it to Patrick Stanton,
it's number one.
Gonzalez is number two or three.
Carlton Davis has been insane.
Even Jones has been amazing this year in terms of secondary,
not even just on special teams.
Okay, I get it, Weatherstone, Tariq Wollin,
those guys aren't terrible by any means.
I'm not saying that.
But think back to the Texans game,
secondary won that game.
I'm jumping in.
I have to go next.
Sorry, CJ.
Listen, this secondary has so much more depth for the Seahawks than it does for the Patriots.
It's so much better.
Listen, the Patriots have one elite cover corner if they could just let him play more man.
I think the Patriots will do a lot more man in this game.
But Carlton Davis has been so up and down.
And at best, at best, he's not even close to a number one.
He's a serviceable two, but I think he's a two in the sense that he's kind of a poor man's Brandon Browner in the sense that he's a guy who's very, very physical.
He's going to draw a lot of penalties, but you take it because Carlton Davis is going to look towards the sideline.
He's going to look towards the stripes and say, you guys aren't going to call holding every time.
I'm just going to do it every play, and you're not going to do anything about it.
that's essentially this whole play style
Marcus Jones I think is a really good
slot corner
and I
suspect that he's going to be on Cooper Cup
but let's take a look at the safety core
it's middling at best
meanwhile the Seahawks
it's really good
I have to give it to the Seahawks I'm sorry
The Seahawks have probably one of the better secondaries out there.
I miss Kyle Dugger.
It's all that needs to be said about the subject.
As for me, I'm also going with Seattle here.
Hot take, the reason I give it to Seattle is solely because of the safety.
So don't get me wrong.
Nick Emin Worry is a rookie, and he's made a lot of really bad rookie mistakes.
Like he'll over-persew, he'll get burned in coverage.
but still he's literally like if Earl Thomas and Camp Chancellor had a baby.
Give him another year.
He's going to be insane.
Julian Love at Free Safety once again, just absolute zone menace.
The only issue that I have with the Seattle secondary is every corner they have not named Devin Witherspoon.
I'm going to be frank, I don't think Rick Wollin's that good.
He's like a poor man's Trayvon Diggs, where one,
game he's shutting everyone down getting all these insane interceptions then the next game like he's just
getting burned he's so wildly inconsistent and especially this season he just doesn't have his
head screwed on right and we all remember that taunting call it's just a lot of it's just in his head
and yeah caught so often peeking into the backfield and instead of covering and he gets burned and josh job
is now on the pat side you know gonzo okay you know you know
elite. And I agree what you said about Carlton Davis and Marcus Jones. I like both of them.
The safeties, I feel like middling at best isn't exactly true. They've really come into their
own, you know, because a lot of people when they rank the safety course, conflate big names
versus good play. Jalen Hawkins is four picks on the year. He's been saying Craig Woodson is,
especially just these playoffs really come alive. But I sought to go with Seattle just because of the
depth. How much of that do you think has more to do with the interior defensive line forcing
mistakes? Because I think the entire defense... Hold on, hold on, hold on. But I can actually
use your own argument against you and say that same thing for Seattle. For Seattle?
Yeah. Okay. How much of that is Leonard, whatever's name is? Leonard Williams and
Byron Murphy. So could it not also be the case there, too? Well, because that
they're also good when they're not a factor in the game.
It's like the entire defense kind of falls apart for the Patriots when their interior line is.
Well, yeah, when they have all days and throw, that is the same for every secondary.
Congratulations.
You've found, okay, yeah, I get it, but whatever, we've got to move on.
All right, sure.
But all I'm saying is the safety core, I like it much better for the Seahawks.
Nick Ammon.
No, it is good, but I mean, I'm just saying, like, Sam, Brigham could be.
And I think, well, listen, I think Rick Wollett.
I think Rick Wollin is good, but he's, look, he's an idiot.
There's really no other way to put it.
And I would, comparing the number two corners between Rik Wullen and Carlton Davis, I might take Rik Wollin.
I might rather him.
They both commit stupid penalties.
It's just in a different way.
And I just think Carlton Davis is consistently mediocre.
And once in a while, he'll give you a great play.
Rieke Wollen at least you can get some lockdown production from him.
And maybe if his head is screwed on straight, which this is the biggest game of his career,
he better freaking do it.
I think there's some potential there.
All right, listen, let's move on to the offensive side.
We're going to start off with the offensive line.
Who has the edge here?
I'll be honest.
I've not tapped into the Seahawks offensive line that much.
I don't know how bad they've been.
Patriots offensive line over the past couple of games hasn't been great.
Drake May's been having a rough time.
Not all the offensive lines fault.
It's going to be wrong as partially to do with the weather
and partially due to just Drake May not playing great.
So regretfully, I'm going to give it to the Seahawks,
but full knowledge that I don't know much about the Seahawks O'Line.
All right, CJ.
I'm also going with Seattle here.
I think it's about the left tackle,
and I think Charles Cross, as of right now, is better than Will Campbell.
And I don't think Will Campbell's bad.
I don't even think Jared Wilson's bad at left guard.
It's just, it's not only of any big holes in their game.
I'm going to be honest, they're rookies,
and they're playing like rookies.
They've been put through the ringer,
and, you know, you could argue Drake May is a fumble,
problem, but it's not like he's
turtling in the pocket and the ball's getting poked out.
His arm's going back. He's got
cocked back. Adam, you can
shake your head all you want, but we watched the same game
I did where it's the typical
three-step drop. He's got his arm back to throw
and then the ball just
gets poked out. Well, he has to see him
coming. He has to hear him coming.
You can't just sit there
and take your sweet time. There needs to be
some sort of a pocket. Take your sweet time.
That would imply he has time.
That's just not true.
Bullshit.
He has the time.
He's the average time to throw is one of the highest in football.
His average time to throw is one of the longest.
He can run around back there and buy himself time.
That doesn't mean the lines playing good.
You of all people should know that.
That's such a bad faith argument.
Oh my God.
It's not a bad faith argument.
You can see him holding the ball in the pocket.
He's sitting there waiting for the big play because he still has that Brett Farby and
guns to the mentality.
running for his life this entire postseason.
Either way, I'm still going with Seattle.
But the one problem with Seattle, I don't know if you've seen this.
Adam, have you seen this about the big Seattle injury?
Left tackle Charles Cross has not practiced at all.
And even if he's banged up, that's going to be a very big problem.
But I'm still going with Seattle.
I'm going to lean New England, actually, because of the,
the type of pressure you're going to get from the Seahawks defensive line.
Their strength comes from the interior just like New England's on their defensive line.
So when you look at that, I think the Patriots interior line has been really good this year on the offensive side.
But on the edge, that's where, especially at the left tackle position, that's where they've gotten into some trouble.
So with that, I'm actually going to take New England's.
I don't think Will Campbell is going to have as full a plate as he has in the past couple of weeks.
And Morgan Moses has been an unsung hero at right tackle.
I mean, that guy has probably played the best football of his entire career.
I'm not worried over there.
I'm worried a little bit about Will Campbell, but it's going to be, he's going to have a lot less on his plate.
And I think you'll notice that in the game.
But I am a little worried about the interior line.
But at least the Patriots' interior line.
has been able to hold its own this year.
The left tackle position has been very iffy.
And I've never thought I would be considering this.
But I kind of want Vedarian Lowe.
I like Vedarian Lowe a little more than Will Campbell as far as past blocking.
Run blocking, Will Campo's awesome.
But Vedarian Lowe has been, a lot of his issues been coached out of by a new scheme.
I really liked him during his time, feeling for Will Campbell.
But let's move on to tight ends.
Right out of the gate, I'm going to give it to New England.
But they are very, very one-dimensional.
So that's one warning I will have for the Patriots,
is that if Will Campbell needs help on the line,
if Morgan Moses needs help,
you're not going to get much out of Hunter Henry or Austin.
Hooper. They're really good as far as past catchers. They're not all that good as far as being a
complete tight end. But I'll let it leave it to you guys. I don't trust Austin Hooper at all. I'm not
going to lie. Neither in the run or the past. Hunter Henry's proven that he's been a really good
pass catcher. And who the Seahawks guy? Is it just Will Disilley? Am I for getting somebody?
AJ Barner. Dissley's gone. Dissley's gone? Dissley's not on the team. No, he is not.
It's AJ Barner and rookie Elijah Arroyo.
Yeah, I'm giving Hunter Henry.
Sully carries that position.
No, I hear you.
I do.
But AJ Barner, this guy is a problem.
He's like, I've seen a moss guys left and right.
He's lethal in open space.
But much like you said, guys said about Hunter Henry and them,
AJ Barner is not a pass blocking tight end.
He's just not.
that's something you could say about the Seattle guys too is that neither of them really have any pass blocking upside.
Hunter Henry has shown the ability he can at least do a chip play or he can throw alignment off for a little bit.
Barner they just don't ask him to do that.
But I'm still leaning Henry and the gang there.
Yeah, it's, listen, I don't think the tight ends will be that big of a factor in this game.
It might be for the Patriots, I guess the Seahawks.
I guess the Seahawks are one of the worst in football at covering tight ends.
But I still, like, they don't have elite tight ends.
Neither team does.
But we do know Drake May loves to throw to Hunter Henry, and he loves throwing to Austin Hooper
when in doubt.
They've been nice safety blankets for him.
You haven't really seen much of that during the postseason, but he has really liked
his tight ends this year.
and last year as well.
Things are going to get a little interesting,
and I'm going to move to running backs.
It's important to understand.
It's not just the quality of the position.
It's also their matchup against the front.
And the Seahawks and Patriots both have elite defensive fronts.
So guys, who has the hedge?
has the edge.
Jesus.
I,
the way I look at it
between Travion Henderson
and Remondre Stevenson,
I really don't see
either of them
rushing for more than
80 yards in this game.
And if you told me
Kenneth Walker had 120 yards
in a touchdown,
I would fully believe you.
In big games,
in regular season games,
I'd be more inclined
to take the depth.
In big games like the Super Bowl
where you need to lean on your stars,
yeah,
give me Kenneth Walker
in the same.
Seahawks.
CJ?
It's literally just Kenneth Walker.
I mean, Charbonnet, he's not going to play.
They have George Holani now at RB2 and, okay, is all I have to say.
The thing with Walker is he's a speedback, but he can't break tackles.
He can't truck anyone.
He doesn't have any good stiff arm.
And you know that there's probably going to be a, since he's a dual threat,
there's probably going to be a spy on him every play.
and both Stevenson and Henderson, both, you know, with their, you know,
with their ability, Stevenson being a bruiser and he's got receiving potential.
Henderson has receiving potential.
I don't throw to him as much, but he also has that elite breakaway speed.
I think that combined, just the depth alone gives New England the edge.
Because, look, I know we can say this about any position, but if Kenneth Walker goes down,
even if he's dinged up for a quarter, your running game is dead.
I don't see it being a factor for both sides because both are elite as far as stopping the run.
The Patriots, it doesn't show on the stat sheet as far as their team defensive rankings.
But when Milton Williams is healthy, when Roberts Blaine is healthy, which is a question mark right now,
they've been one of the better run-stuffing teams in the league.
And we've seen that during the postseason.
they just, if they're healthy, then no team runs on them.
That being said, Robert Spillane is scaring me a bit.
So I'm going to lean Seattle having the edge, especially since the Seahawks run defense
has been awesome this year.
First in the league and yards per attempt at just 3.7 yards, they've allowed the fewest,
rather the third fewest amount of rushing yards overall as well.
They're a problem that run defense.
So the interior line for the Seahawks is going to hold.
You might see a few passing plays in the receiving game for Remandre Stevenson.
But Kenneth Walker is going to play a big part.
Fun fact about the Seahawks, they rush the ball the most out of any team in football.
This is a misconception about the seahawks.
You think they're a pass heavy team because they have Jackson Smith and Jigba.
They do throw the ball.
But you know what they do a lot of?
They run it a lot.
I think the Patriots are going to take the running game out.
It's still going to be there, but still slight edge to the Seahawks.
Second to last one.
We have the wide receivers.
there's one guy in the Seattle receiving core that is going to give Seattle the edge.
And that is Jackson, Smith, and Jigba.
What I'll tell you, while they have the edge,
you cannot name a single time during our league's history
where a wide receiver, an elite generational wide receiver,
has won a Super Bowl without having a future Hall of Fame quarterback throwing to him.
Now, maybe Sam Donald is just a Hall of Favor.
Who knows?
But you can't name a single time.
Jalen Hertz just did it with A.J. Brown.
So maybe he's a Hall of Fame or maybe he's not.
It would still be the exception, not the rule.
So it's just something to think about.
Because the offenses that lean on the elite wide receiver,
God forbid an elite secondary shuts him down.
let's say Christian Gonzalez holds his own and just limits him.
I'm just saying.
But as far as, I'm still giving it to Seattle.
Seattle has the better receiving core.
They're blockable.
I think they can be defended.
But it's obvious.
Very, very obvious Seattle.
I'm right there with you.
Is it too crazy to say the Patriots have advantage?
depth-wise, not talent-wise, because I'm still giving the edge to Seattle.
Same as my last argument.
In big games, you've got to lean towards star power.
But is it crazy to say that the Patriots have better depth?
And is it crazy for me to predict an F them Chisholm Super Bowl touchdown?
I was about to say no, the first one, but yes to the second part.
You were just looking for that to be said.
There was, that had nothing to do with your point whatsoever.
I just I just needed it on record.
Tisholm touchdown.
Hey, hey, we respect.
Hell of a prop out here.
You know it.
Hell of a prop bet.
I'll be real.
That would be fun.
Anytime touchdown score for Efton Chisholm, lock it in.
God, I'm going to look.
I'm going to put my money where my mouth is.
You know, I'm going on Fanduel right now to place that bet.
Look, as far as death goes, I think you're right.
And they, the Patriots have two receivers that you really,
really need to focus on, which is Kayshan Bouti and Stefan Diggs.
They have a few other guys, but, you know, they have Mac Hollins.
They have, yeah, I'd say I agree.
And they have, it's not even like it's, they have, it's middling.
Like, they have pretty good receivers, CJ.
Obviously, it's Seattle.
Jack Smith and Jigua, even by himself, hard carries.
Rashid Shehid and Cooper Cup, also a wide receiver, are an elite three and two.
You know, Rashid your home run hitter, the cups, your slot threat.
But that's really it because outside of that, you got Jake Bobo and Dereke Young, whoever they might be.
But, you know, for the pets, you know, you've got Chisholm, God help me.
After Chisholm.
You got Diggs, Booty, Douglas, Hollins as well.
And, you know, even Chisholm's got a touchdown.
So, you know, I can't hate.
I think they've got, oh, Kyle Williams, yeah, your own home run hitter there.
So they just had the depth.
like that but talent wise it's it's Seattle it's talent wise Seattle and they have enough guys
past Jackson Smith and Jigba to get it done I think if you if you lock down Kishon booty
and Stefan Diggs then you would be in trouble I don't think you can win games off of
Matt Collins pop Douglas or or Kyle Williams I don't think you're doing that all I'm saying is
it's plus 1100 for an Fem Chisdham
anytime touchdown in the Super Bowl.
And yes, I did put my money on it.
How much?
$2.
Okay, there.
How much would it win?
22.
All right.
Guys, last one.
Quarterbacks.
Who has the better quarterback?
Drake.
You don't need a long answer.
Drake May.
May.
C.J.
No matter how you slice it, it's Drake May.
Any argument to the contrary is factually wrong.
Okay.
Oh, fuck.
Drake May has the higher ceiling,
and he has played better this season.
As far as production goes,
Sam Donald has had a better postseason.
Just far and away, he's had a better postseason.
But it has to be, it has to be Drake May.
He's been the better quarterback this season.
Sam Donald is very, very up and down.
As far as facing stiff competition,
but we know what Drake May is capable of.
So that's why I give the edge to May just by the ceiling.
But I think Darnold, he's kind of growing out of it.
This kind of choky tendency.
I mean, towards the end of this season,
he started beating some good teams in the regular season.
He hasn't had any issues so far this postseason.
I'm just saying, look, the only reason I'm not saying the Patriots are absolutely winning this game,
and kind of leaning Seahawks is because Sam Donald's kind of grown out of his choking tendencies.
And maybe it's still in there, but he's had it.
I got to give him credit.
It's closer than you think right now.
I mean, has he played the Patriots since the I see Ghost game?
He has.
He's played, I mean, as a panther.
A few times as a jet, I think once as a Panther.
And I think that was in 2021.
But either way, listen, he's had, when you have four,
you don't win 14 games in back to back years if you didn't do something right.
You're not getting carried at that point.
He does have a lot of talent with him, but you still have to do something right.
And now he's in the Super Bowl on top of it.
So he's doing something right.
And he's started to beat a few good teams lately.
So I have to give him props.
you have to give him props.
We can't keep saying he's going to see ghosts over and over again
when it's been two straight years of him absolutely dominating teams.
And now he's in the Super Bowl.
The last time he did play the Patriots, though.
Okay, this was back in November of 2021.
So take it with a grand assault.
Right.
16 for 33, 172 passing yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions,
and a pass of 26.3.
Can we please have that Sam Darnold again, universe?
That'd be funny.
I just need the band to see ghosts.
Amen.
If you guys ever went and rewatch that game, it is gross.
I think the Jets had eight turnover, Stoddle.
I got to give him credit.
He's been really good.
And I spare.
The old Sam Darnold, I don't think the old Sam Darnold is there.
But I think what you could realistically ask for, if you're the Patriots,
is Sam Darnold at the end of his Viking year last year.
Week 18, he loses the number one seed.
Wild card round, he's out.
And he played disgusting football.
And he struggled a little bit during that Rams game on Thursday night football.
But you can see he was kind of working things out.
He was able to really, he was fighting some things there.
and he was able to come out with the win.
He didn't play great football,
but he was able to win.
Like he made the throws that he needed to make.
And that really impressed me.
And then he won another one to get the number one seed against the 49ers.
It wasn't a pretty game, but he won it.
Then he destroyed the 49ers two weeks later.
And then he won another gutsy one against the Rams.
Just saying, I think he's coming out of it.
And you should worry a little bit.
bit about Sam Darnald's just saying.
Fair, but he's never thrown a passing touchdown to Fademchism the third.
Right there.
All right.
No, he is not.
We're at the end of our episode here, but Robert, give you a chance to plug some of your
