Here's Edelman broken up and the pass is no sign yet.
Edelman comes down with a football and they're saying it's a catch.
It's a catch!
Oh!
It's a catch!
Side-hide! Touchdown! Unbelievable! The The commanders have decommissioned Carson Wentz from their team as Marcus Mariota is also not in flight with his Falcons.
I'm Adam Wright.
You're listening to the Fumble Ruski Podcast
by Power 88 and Secret Weapon Consulting
with Justin Tucker and CJ Medeiros.
We have a great show planned for you guys tonight.
So, as I mentioned when I introduced our show,
Carson Wentz has been released from his team after just one season,
and so has Marcus Mariota.
And we are also going to touch on Kenny Galladay being released
after just two seasons with the team,
after the big deal that he was signed to.
So, guys, how are we doing tonight?
I'm doing all right. Not too bad.
You know, I can't complain.
Nice. All right. Well, we are going to jump right into it.
And we're going to touch first on Carson Wentz and Marcus Mariota
being released from their respected teams.
So, guys, this is – I am at a point where I feel bad for Carson Wentz,
mostly because this guy was drafted towards the top of his draft class.
Second overall. Second overall.
Second overall.
And he has not been able to live up to the hype since his sophomore season
where he was, for a large portion of 2017, the lead MVP candidate.
And Marcus Mariota himself also being the number, the number two overall pick for him
back in 2014. I mean, he, his best days are way behind him, but call me crazy.
But in the past couple of seasons, in the past couple of seasons, at least this past season, 15-9 touchdown to interception ratio, 2,200 yards.
Listen, Marcus Mariota may not be a starting caliber quarterback,
but he could be a serviceable backup somewhere.
If your starting quarterback needs to miss some time
and you have a game or two that you need to win,
Marcus Mariota can step up and fill that void.
Yeah, but again, that's not what everybody's looking for now.
They're looking for a franchise guy, which is unfortunate,
but that's kind of where Marcus Mariota is in his career.
He's not seen as the franchise guy,
so he'll just keep floating around seeing the team as a backup.
Never the guy at quarterback.
If he is, it's only going to be for, like, what, a season,
which is unfortunate, but that's just the way of the landscape right now.
Yeah, I do think Mariota could be a serviceable backup,
but real quick, I want to touch on Carson Wentz.
And I know Adam mentioned this because we all remember that year where he was an MVP candidate and, you know, before he got hurt.
And I've been turning this over my head.
Everybody said that's his ceiling.
He can reach that again.
But I want to take this in a different direction.
I believe that it is high time we consider that maybe, just maybe, it was a fluke year.
Maybe he was – No.
His head.
No.
Maybe just a one-year wonder.
Have you considered that?
Rejected.
Well, I'm sorry.
Well, the stats will tell you otherwise.
And 2019 will tell you otherwise.
4,000 yards, not a receiver over 500 yards.
No, it was not a fluke.
And look at what he's done since then.
I mean, 2019, he still had Doug Peterson.
He still had the same head.
You know, he still had that same defense.
So it's like I'm sorry.
Like maybe just maybe he was playing over his head.
I don't think we can expect a season like that from Carson Wentz any longer.
I think you're being reasonably unfair to Carson Wentz.
Yeah, man.
I don't know.
Just last year he threw for 27 touchdowns to seven interceptions, 3,500 yards. Are those number two overall pick
type numbers? Absolutely not. It's not even league MVP type numbers. He's middle of the pack.
Like I said, will he ever be a top 10 QB again? No. And the numbers you just said,
I don't know what you're trying to tell me with those. I'm sorry. That's not top 10 QB again? No. And the numbers you just said, I don't know what you're trying to tell
me with those. I'm sorry, that's not top 10 QB numbers. He's not going to reach that peak again.
And the numbers that you just gave me, pretty much only increase my argument.
27 touchdowns to seven interceptions. That's a pretty good season. I'm not trying to say he's great, but he's a solid quarterback.
And I think people put on him way too much.
And honestly, I don't think he deserves a lot of what he gets.
I really don't.
Look at what happened to the Colts once he left.
They took a step back with Matt Ryan,
who everybody considered a positive upgrade for them,
and they took a step back and couldn't even contend in the AFC.
Who considered Matt Ryan a positive upgrade?
You did.
I thought that.
At least I didn't think that.
You thought that.
You did.
The way they talk about wounds, that's how I feel.
Oh, Matt Ryan.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Matt Ryan is definitely an upgrade over what's his – Jesus.
Carson Wentz.
It wasn't like that last year.
He's an upgrade over him.
No, not last year.
I'd take Carson again.
I just – I don't know.
But I'm just saying the days of Carson's elite play is far from over.
You can throw all the numbers in the world at me,
but I'm not hearing great numbers. I'm hearing like, all right. And you have to keep in mind, have you
considered that was he good or was the team around him good? Because you have to remember, a lot of
his burden was taken away by Jonathan Taylor's record-setting season. Are we just going to
pretend that Jonathan Taylor just wasn't balling out there because it'd be one thing if he had an average
running back but he did not the sole focal point of that offense was Jonathan Taylor and if you
take Jonathan Taylor away from that offense Carson Wentz is at best half is good no that's a fair argument i would say but i still i still think that's still if
you're able to put up those stats and be complimented by an elite running back then that's
still a starting quarterback in this league that's still that's still a starting level quarterback
are you expecting a super bowl victory from this guy? Absolutely not. But he can take you to the playoffs.
I think we're forgetting from that season, that team was also,
especially Carson Wentz, he was fighting injuries throughout that whole year,
and he managed to not miss a single game.
That's pretty incredible, especially considering his injury history.
That's all well and good, but where did that get them?
They went from a 1-4 start to 9-4 in – excuse me, 8-4 in a blink of an eye.
And then they lost to Jacksonville.
Because apparently Jacksonville just showed up
and became a better football team overnight.
And they just couldn't keep it.
I mean, I'm just saying, a top-ten quarterback wouldn't let that happen.
Yes, they would.
Stop that. Stop would. Stop that.
Stop that.
Stop that.
Oh, yeah.
I'm sorry.
Lamar would.
No, he wasn't number one.
Number two.
Y'all telling me consistently Dak Prescott is a top 10 quarterback.
I said no such thing.
All right.
Listen, I wanted to touch on one more narrative with this topic.
Both teams have cleared significant amounts of cap space,
and I'm more leaning towards looking at the commanders
when I bring this up,
but quarterback is now added to the list of needs,
and they now have all of this cap space.
Both the commanders and the Falcons,
if they wanted to go all in for a quarterback,
namely an Aaron Rodgers,
if he was to become available via trade,
that wouldn't be the worst move in the world.
Especially for a Commanders team
that actually has a lot of
pieces around them uh for an elite quarterback to succeed yeah yeah i'd say so but i mean the
commanders i think definitely have a better chance than atlanta does well yeah the the atlanta i was
more leaning towards the commanders because Atlanta has a lot of needs.
And it's good that, so they're actually number two.
Atlanta is number two in cap space.
So with the most room for improvement, kind of like the Bears,
with the most move for improvement, they have the second most cap space now.
And they already had it before with adding 14, it was, what was it?
12, 14 mil freed up from their calf space.
They're now – I mean, they closed the gap a little bit with the Bears
who have 98 mil.
So they could go out and they could really improve this roster.
And depending on what they do with their with their first round
pick i mean they do need they do need a quarterback so if they were to trade up with the bears
for the number one pick that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for them
you're saying the colts i'm saying the the fal the falcons um the Falcons. The Falcons, maybe. But again, they would have to do a lot of
improving throughout that whole team. They have more dire needs to fix than quarterback. They
still don't know what they have in Desmond Ritter. We all tried to write Jalen Hurts off and look
what he did last year. So we don't know what they have in Desmond Ritter. So they're going to
use the season to figure out what they have.
He did okay last year considering,
but there's still more improvement that can be done on his part.
Yeah, so looking at all these teams in cap space,
so the Atlanta Falcons now have, and I don't know if they've already did it,
but they have 66 mil right now in cap space
with a first-round pick in the top half of the draft.
So if they really wanted to turn around and say,
hey, I want that number one pick from the Bears,
they could give up a bunch of picks, including what they have,
and then they could go and draft their guy
and also surround him with talent with the cap space that they have.
And I'm not really talking about the pass catchers
because they're kind of set there.
They have Drake London.
They also have Kyle Pitts.
So they're kind of set with what they have there.
They would just need to work on the offensive line
and also work on the defense.
So they kind of have a path here.
Yeah, I would say that all right well i want to change gears and i want to talk about the giants more specifically kenny galladay so the giants released Galladay and what a fall from grace this guy has had we're gonna get to exactly
what what the hell has happened with this guy over the past couple of years that's next this
is the Fumble Rooski podcast Here's Edelman broken up and the pass is no sign yet.
Edelman comes down with a football and they're saying it's a catch.
It's caught!
It's a catch!
Sideline!
Touchdown!
Unbelievable! Swings it way down the field to Watkins! This is the Fumble Rooski podcast by Power 88 and Secret Weapon Consulting.
Adam Wright, Justin Tucker, CJ Medeiros.
All right.
So, the Giants, a couple of days ago, released wide receiver Kenny Galladay after two seasons.
So, to put it into perspective, exactly what he did for the Giants,
he managed 43 catches, one touchdown.
That's it.
That's all he did.
How many yards?
He had about 600.
So 300 per – oh, man.
Four years, 72 million for 300 yards per year he had over 500 in his first season
because he was hurt most of the most of the year and then and then this past year he had like 80
so it was he man this what a fall from grace this guy has really had what happened with this guy it really wasn't long ago when and
i'm trying to pull up this guy's statistics here but um i i i'm so sorry that is my that is my dog
and he's right over there.
Jesus.
So back to Kenny Galladay.
Man.
Listen, so back to Kenny Galladay.
After his rookie season where, you know, that's understandable. It took a year for him to develop.
It took a year for him to develop. It took a year for him to develop.
But back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons,
and his second-to-last year with Detroit,
over 1,100 yards, 11 touchdowns,
this guy was a stable wide receiver one.
And like,
if you,
if you kind of like,
if you,
if you fall off a little bit,
let's say you decline and you turn into a wide receiver,
two,
three,
he didn't even do that.
He doesn't even,
he's,
he doesn't even have a place on the giants wide receiver roster.
And in case you haven't noticed with that
Giants team they don't have much at wide receiver they have Darius Slayton and I think you guys you
guys can both agree Kenny Galladay at his very best is better than Slayton he's better yeah yeah
I'd say that like what like what the hell happened with this guy? I don't remember.
I know he's had a lot of injuries, but have these injuries really made it
so that – have they been that significant so that he's gone from all the way
up here to down here?
I mean, it could very well be.
But more than likely, I would just say that he's...
He's the Giants.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I guess maybe it was just fool's gold.
You never know.
They sprinkled that Giants dust on him, and that was it.
And to build off kind of what you said, Adam, it's really sad what happened to him
because I think you could make a solid case.
The Giants have arguably one of, if not the worst receiver room in the NFL.
And if you as a receiver can't even make the Giants receiver room, then what?
Then you should probably either reevaluate your life or retire.
I mean, really, how do you go from that how do you and like i don't doubt that he could go back he can get back to the
level where he once was juju smith schuster just did it this past year um to an extent. But, I mean, this fall from grace has been really upsetting.
And I thought this guy would bounce back eventually.
I thought it was a great signing for the Giants.
And it hasn't worked out.
Well, it didn't.
It didn't.
They called it quits.
They pulled the plug on him after just two seasons.
Yep. they they called it quits they pulled the plug on them after just two seasons yep so man that's just bad luck for the giants they have really done everything they could
they've done everything they could at the wide receiver position they have drafted a wide they've
drafted a wide out in the first round they've had hidden gems in the late rounds in Darius Slayton.
They've gone to free agency with Kenny
Galladay. It hasn't worked out.
They did have
a wide receiver, but then
they traded him to Cleveland.
He means
Odell.
Oh, yeah.
They did have a quality number one for a while
there. Wonder what happened.
Yeah, man. He didn't like it there.
He did not like it there anymore.
Grass isn't always greener,
is it, Odell?
He didn't ask for the trade. He just got drugged it.
Oh, so we're going to pretend he wasn't?
So we're going to pretend that he was happy
in New York?
I think he was more content pretend that he was happy in New York?
I think he was more content than where he was going.
Odell once said in New York towards the end of his Giants career,
and I quote, I am not having fun anymore.
That was in 2016.
Okay.
And every offseason since then, he was always whining. That's what it was. I was like, oh, could an Odell trade happen? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're acting like he wanted to stay there.
I think considering where he was going, I think he would much rather stay in New York than Cleveland.
Yeah, well, you're literally speaking from hindsight. I'm talking about what the props were then.
I'm speaking of destination preference.
Would you rather be in New York or Cleveland?
Well, considering the fact Cleveland then, at the time,
had what we thought was a promising quarterback at Baker Mayfield,
and he was reunited with his best friend Jarvis Landry, I would argue he'd like to go to Cleveland.
Oh?
So you're denying that these are the poll factors that would have given, that would argue he'd like to go to Cleveland. Oh, so,
so you're denying that these are the poll factors that would have given that
would have a drove him there.
He would like to stay there. He would like to play for the team.
I don't think he would like to stay there.
I think there's two different things.
No, I said, wait, I feel like we're not on the same page here.
I didn't say he wanted to stay in Cleveland.
I said he wanted to go there. Then he realized how awful Baker was.
Forget it.
We're not on the same topic.
All right.
Well, listen.
So in 2020, it was really in this season where his Galladay's career took a turn for the worst.
He had a hamstring strain where he missed two two games okay then he had a hip sprain and that knocked him out for
eight games and he hasn't been the same since and he's been he's been getting hamstring issues
uh hyperextended knees um and a bunch of different injuries ever since then.
But it was really at that point, and he hasn't had the hip issue
since that season a couple of years ago,
but all of these other injuries are just different injuries.
So how did this guy's body become glass just out of thin air it can just happen all of a
sudden one injury can lose and then a series of them just happen just right after the next
exactly a lot of people just don't realize how one injury is off like the first domino for having
problems the rest of your career yeah especially if you're not taking care
of your body properly not saying that he wasn't but at the same time one injury can if not taken
care of properly can substantially lead to others just like that that why do you think everybody
keeps catching like hamstring problems julio jones is famous for for some reason or another being out with a hamstring. Yeah.
All right.
Well, I wanted to change topics,
and we are going to head to our fan box where we have –
we asked you guys for the most underrated free agency,
free agent for this season that you would want on your team.
So we got plenty of answers on that and we'll get to all of them next on the
fumble Ruski podcast. Here's Edelman broken up and the pass is no sign yet.
Edelman comes down with a football.
They're saying it's a catch.
It's a catch.
What?
Diggs!
Side-line!
Touchdown!
Unbelievable!
Swings it way down the field to Watkins!
Sammy Watkins for the touchdown!
This is the Fumble Rooski Podcast by Power88 and Secret Weapon Consulting.
I'm Adam Wright.
With CJ Medeiros, Justin Tucker, we have reached the FumbleRooski fan box
where we post a question filter on our Instagram every Monday,
and you can respond with hot takes, questions, and more.
And we will discuss it and give you a shout-out on our podcast.
Respond to next week's fan box question to be featured on our show.
Now, for our first response, we've got Nick Ray who said, excuse me, Nick Reyes who said Patrick Mahomes.
So that one was a joke.
But, I mean, don't we all?
We would all want Patrick Mahomes.
Yeah, well, I don't know what team he likes.
He's probably going to have to settle for Jackson.
I'm good.
I'm good. I'm good. Lam have to settle for Jackson. I'm good. I'm good.
I'm good.
Lamar Jackson is my quarterback.
I'm good.
No, he meant Jackson Mahomes.
No, I get it.
I get it.
But if Patrick Mahomes was available and I already had Lamar,
I'm not looking to give him up.
I get why, but I just don't.
Hold on.
Hold on.
He doesn't like good passers.
Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
All jokes aside, what if you didn't have Lamar
and you had an opportunity?
Let's just say his contract expires.
He hits free agency.
Do you go with Mahomes or Lamar?
Listen, if Lamar said,
I don't want to play for the Ravens anymore.
No, no, I'm not saying that.
Both want to play for the Ravens.
Both are free agents do you
sign mahomes or lamar lamar must you be such a homer must you listen this response was a joke
let's not take it too seriously but isaac zonana said mike joseki and you're an orphans fan so
don't you already have them uh yeah but yeah yeah j – Yeah, yeah, Gusecki is a free agent.
I think – was he playing on the tag this year?
But I think Miami should get him back cheap,
especially since he had a down year.
Yeah, he should come cheap because he was not –
he didn't have a great year.
Should is the word here.
Yeah, he should be fine.
Daniel Blaziak said Drew Brees brees i'm gonna skip over that
come on man come on man somehow i doubt it even if he does come out of retirement he's not he
wasn't good when he when he retired two years ago so what makes you think all right um stephen
parker said cj gardner johnson to the Bengals. That's actually a low.
He's not making it out of Philly.
I'm telling you, Philly's going to tag him.
Yeah, if he doesn't make it out of Philly,
that's a good pickup for the Bengals.
But, like, why?
So they have Jesse Bates, and then they're going to go for CJ Gardner-Johnson?
Maybe they're going to get Gardner-Johnson for less.
I don't know.
Maybe they just value the Eagles defender, and then they do their own. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe they just value the Eagles defender and then they do their own.
I don't know.
Well, Jay Z ate hockey, said Jesse Bates.
I'm not sure what team this guy's a fan of.
He's been following us for a while.
But, I mean, if your team needs Jesse Bates and you're not a fan of the Bengals,
then you might have a shot at getting him,
depending on the cap space that you have.
Brian Mucker said Javon Hargrave or Jordan Poyer.
So for those who don't know, Brian's a Jets fan.
Yeah.
I know there's a very real chance, in fact,
someone says it's more likely than not, Poyer leaves the Bills
because the Bills are in a cap crunch.
They've got a few names to re-sign.
But, I mean, if Poyer leaves,
I don't see him going to another AFC East team out of respect.
He could, but I don't see it.
Hargrave, on the other hand, you very well could.
He and Quinton Williams would be nasty. Yep. disrespect he could bounce you heart rave on the other hand you very well could he and quinn and
williams will be nasty yep uh patrick williver said darren pain to dallas too well now did it
yeah and he said but we don't spend big money on free agents he's talking about his dallas cowboys
even though the cowboys have a lot of money i I was about to say, they do spend big money on free agents.
Just not good ones.
Yeah.
But Darren Payne, shout out to the Commanders,
not only for releasing Carson Wentz,
but they also placed the first franchise tag of 2023.
Stop saying that.
It's Duran.
It's not Darren.
It's Duran.
Yeah, I was going to say that.
What's that?
It's Duran, not Darren I was going to say that. What's that? It's Duran, not Darren.
Oh, that was an accident.
So Duran Payne, the defensive tackle,
he is the first player to get franchised of this offense.
Yeah, his name was those Bama boys.
All right.
And Jad Noman said, OBJ to the Ravens, we have no weapons.
This is what we're looking for when we were talking about underrated free agents
that you want on your team.
Odell Beckham Jr.
Well, let's let our resident Ravens fan answer this.
If he's healthy and –
That's a huge if.
That's a huge if.
It's a huge if. That's why it's an underrated signing,
because if it works out, it's a home run. That's a gamble, if anything. It's not underrated. If
you told me like DJ Chalk out of Detroit, I'd be all for it. If you told me we traded for DeAndre
Hopkins, who I'm treating as a free agent right now because someone's going to trade for him,
then I'd be all for it.
But Odell Beckham Jr., there's a reason no one picked him up last year.
Well, yeah, but now there's more time that he had to recover from.
I'm not saying that he's going to pan out.
He's torn his ACL twice now, and he also had a foot issue earlier in his career as well so um i'm just saying that it's this could be a low a low risk high reward deal because he's gonna come cheap now yeah he
hasn't been in the league for a while you can probably get him for like two years 15 million
thereabouts yeah i i think i think that's not bad um jack rob said bates to cleveland
no state no get out the north this is kind of the same this is kind of the same the kind of
the same as jordan poyer going to another afc east team yeah i just don't know if it would happen
but since there's kind of bad blood between jesse bates
and the bengals because the bengals straight up said we don't want you back i don't know maybe
yeah spite is an is an interesting thing i tell you what so bates to cleveland i wouldn't rule
it out um i don't know if they have the money to do it. I don't think they would trade in division.
Yeah.
The Bengals and – He's a –
Well, he's a free agent.
Bengals and Browns?
Yeah.
No.
Yeah, yeah, but he's a free agent, and I don't think they're going to tag him.
Oh, yeah, yeah, because they're not going to re-up him.
No.
All right.
Josh Houle said, give me Robert Woods to the Patriots.
Never got a chance in tennessee
he could be a sneaky pickup if he's actually yeah he's a thing but i would prefer us not
get another slot receiver yeah he would be their number one if he's healthy and playing at his best
you will replace jacoby myers for you guys are obviously going to lose in free agency. That would be an upgrade.
That would be an upgrade.
But coming off, wait, what was he coming off like an ACL tear or something like that?
Yeah, but right.
So this is going to be ready for the season though.
Yeah, this assuming.
Well, yeah, he tore his ACL like last year.
Two years.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
So you give more time between now between when he tore his ACL and now,
then he's going to get healthier.
And if he's at his best where he was before,
then he's the best wide receiver on that Patriots team.
Yeah, I don't hate it.
You know, now that you say it, I don't hate it.
He's better than Devontae Parker at his best.
Listen, I don't know why, but I really do like Kendrick Bourne.
Yeah, I do too.
Just that Patricia and his infinite stupidity hated him.
Can I also give one more player who might be an underrated signing,
now that he's on the market too, as of today?
Who?
Kenny Galladay.
Fighting injuries.
He'll come cheap.
And we've seen him at his best.
Adam.
Adam.
Too soon.
Too soon.
Too soon.
I don't know, man.
Too soon.
Give me Kenny Galladay.
Give me Kenny Galladay.
All right, we'll get to our last one.
What's up?
Put him on the Patriots.
Watch how pissed off you get.
You'll treat him like Nikhil Harry.
He's better than Nikhil Harry.
Come on.
I'm going to remember you said that.
I'm going to remember this.
I'll be happy.
I'll be happy if they get Kenny Galladay.
I would be happy.
Until he shows up opening day.
Or he doesn't.
Then I would be unhappy because then he's not ready for the
season the issue has been injuries it's been injuries all uh for the past couple of years
and he hasn't had an issue with the drops but i wonder if that's a confidence thing
because he didn't have he didn't have an issue with the drops before
i'm just saying like i think if if this guy gets healthy and he gets another change in
scenery i think he can get back to at least close to where he was i mean it wasn't long ago where
this guy was one of the better wide receivers in the game he was a wide receiver one
1100 yards 11 touchdowns i'll take that i'll take that on my Patriots, and Mac Jones will too.
Yeah, I would, but I don't think he's getting back to that.
I really don't.
If he can turn back the clock.
That's a big if.
I'm just saying if.
I'm just saying if.
I'm not saying he will.
I'm just saying it might be low risk, high reward.
Something like Robert Woods.
All right.
Daniel Blaziak said Jalen Hurts.
Let's get this one out of the way.
A lot of you turned this one into a joke.
We had a Jalen Hurts vote.
We had a Drew Brees vote.
Patrick Mahomes, even though he's going to be on the Chiefs until the end of time because of his deal but i mean actually isn't he going to
be a free agent after like next year yeah i think so hmm hmm and if they don't pay him
and let's say he has a down year oh they're gonna pay him they're gonna have to
they should no because i was gonna say you saw what A.J. Brown said.
You said if they don't pay him, just ship me to wherever he's going
because I don't want to be without him.
They might have to.
I mean, they haven't been nice to Jalen Hurts since he came here.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just their fan base.
Right.
So we'll see what happens.
I'll take him.
If Mac Jones doesn't work out, I'll take Jalen Hurts.
Absolutely.
I'll take him. Give me Jalen hurts give me give me those rushing yards
i'll take that dual threat quarterback all right guys well that is that is all we have but do you
guys have any other thoughts for before we end the show tonight nope no i mean leonard fournette
got released but that's just something else. Yeah, Fournette was released.
He joins a stacked free agency class for running backs.
I mean, absolutely stacked.
A lot of them are probably going to get tagged.
But as of right now, as of right now,
we can look at this free agency class and say this is pretty good.
This is good.
All right, well, that'll do it for us tonight.
