Starting point is 00:00:01 Devin Witherspoon is getting paid. And there are multiple QB1 battles raging across the league. And Jaden Daniels has a very, very weird fixation with his number. This is the Fumbo Ruski podcast. It may not have always showed it in the stat sheet, but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws. Back-to-back games where he has three touchdowns. Someone's got to get that six or seven spot.
Starting point is 00:00:26 He's an elite wide receiver as a rookie. Truly a lose-lose scenario for both. sides. Welcome back to another installment of the Fumble Ruski podcast powered by Secret Weapon Consulting. I'm your host for tonight, C.J. Medeiros. With me, of course, is my good friend. And yes, he's back, ladies and gentlemen, Justin Tucker. No Adam, no Chris, but you know what we do. We keep marching forward. Yes, we do. So, Tucker's been a minute. How are you doing, first and foremost? I'm doing great. I'm doing fine i'm back i am back what it do baby yeah uh wonderful wonderful love to hear it so we have a lot of stuff to cover so before we start i want to give a quick little blurb right here right now
Starting point is 00:01:20 uh former chargers wide receiver uh keenan allen is signing with the indianapolis colts on a one year deal So tuck your snap thoughts on that. Keenan Allen, one media, so the Colts? I'm trying to figure out, like, where does he fit? Alec Pierce is clearly the number one. It's like, I like Keenan Allen, and if he can show me flashes of who he is, I think this is a good pickup. The age thing is the concern here.
Starting point is 00:01:52 There's a reason why he's now being picked up. If he can still show me flashes of the Keenan Allen of old, I think this is a good pickup. for the Colts, but due to the quarterback position being what it is right now, and is Daniel Jones healthy? Is he actually practicing or no? Yeah, apparently they're expecting him to suit up for week one. We cover this an episode a bit ago, but yeah, he must be on that Jason Tatum Achilles repair timeline.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Good. I remember Achilles used to be like a year-ending injury. Now all of a sudden people are coming back before the season even starts if they get their career. They're some guys. Yep. Now all of a sudden, modern medicine has made it just, you'll be off for some time. Hopefully he can bounce back to be what he was last year. But if that's not the case, it's looking real rough out there in the Colts.
Starting point is 00:02:50 But I believe they're good enough and have the pieces around them to be good. Josh Downs is another piece. Alex Pierce is the number one receiver right now. Michael Pittman was traded away, so they needed another receiver. And Keenan Allen brings veteran status. And he's, I believe he'll be the wide receiver number three. If he can still show flesh of who he is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Damn, he's old. Yeah, I second that. I'm fully expecting Alan to be the number three. Pierce is number one, down's number two. You got Tyler Warren also a tight end, Jonathan Taylor, running back. There's no reason they shouldn't be good, but it's time for Daniel Jones
Starting point is 00:03:34 to prove that what he showed last year is in fact the real Daniel Jones. All right, moving on to the meat and potatoes of this episode. Ladies and gentlemen, Devin Witherspoon just got the bag thrown at him. Four years, $132 million with one
Starting point is 00:03:55 101 million guaranteed. Well, hey, when you're one of the best corners in the league, you just helped your team win the Super Bowl, you're going to get paid like it. So, suck. How are you feeling about this? Deserved? I mean, a bit of a rhetorical question, but I want to hear you take.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Yes, it's deserved. Congratulations for Devin Wetherspoon. This is 110%. Absolutely deserved. He is one of the best corners in the game. And quite frankly, if I'm the Patriots, I'm a bit concerned because now you've got to pay Christian Gonzalez even more because I think he played better than even Devin Wetherspoon did last year, considering what happened in the Super Bowl. This is great for the Seattle Seahawks. They keep their secondary intact with Nick Iman Wari, who's coming off a fantastic rookie season.
Starting point is 00:04:51 and they're all world cornering Devin Wetherspoon. I think this is a good thing to keep that tandem together. It's another piece in a Mike McDaniel, why am I blanking on the name of the head coach? Of your own former defensive coordinator. Mike. Mike McDonald. That's, I didn't want to call it that and be wrong.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Mike McDonald defense. He's well, Devin Wetherspoon is once again, well deserving of it. I think he has plenty of years left in the tank, and hopefully Seattle will be in contention for the rest of those for the next four years. Congratulations to him. If I'm the Patriots, I'm looking at Christian Gonzalez. It's like, well, what is your target?
Starting point is 00:05:40 Because clearly, we know what Devin Witherspoon was wont to settle on. Now it's up to you. Yeah. Before that, I just would like to mention. this is, I think, a really important signing for Seattle. Honestly, like I really do. Because that defense lost, Boye-Mafé, Kobe Bryant, and Rick Wollen.
Starting point is 00:06:10 So keeping your core together is really important. And, talk, I see your face there, but that's your other safety and your corner, too. So it's a bit of a little important. Not going to lie to you. It is. I'm not saying they weren't important, but I will say the Tyreek willing case. I think some people were happy that he was going, especially after what happened in the NFC championship game. They almost lost that game because of him.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Yeah, true, true. I mean, the talent is there, though. Don't get me wrong. Yes, talent is there. And hopefully he can bounce back with Philly. Because if he can bounce back, ooh, that defense. Yeah, that corner room is just nasty with him. him Mitchell and DeGine.
Starting point is 00:06:56 So obviously well-deserved, but now it's raised a bigger question. Is Chris Gonzalez going to get paid? More importantly, is he going to get paid by New England? Because for those who don't know, it did come out that New England offered him a deal to make him the highest-played corner, but the ball's in his court. He's just not doing anything. And it is because Gonzalez and Witherspoon, I believe, have the same. agent. I think New England has a little more flexibility to pay, so they're just trying to wait
Starting point is 00:07:28 them out, which if that isn't the most insider trading, collusion, conspiracy bullshit, you've never heard. You're probably lying. Probably lying. So I think as it sits now, Gonzalez will get his money, but as a Pat's fan, I hate to say it. The question is, will it be New England? Because in years past, and Tuck, you're not a Pat's fan, but you know this just as well as I do. New England has been notorious for cheaping out on their stars. And they are known to trade away their good players when they're unhappy with their contract. And I guess you could argue that was more of a Belichick thing.
Starting point is 00:08:10 And, you know, you would have a point. But to my knowledge, now I could be wrong. but I believe the last true star corner won, like an actual star, so people like Jonathan Jones, among others, don't count. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:27 The last star corner one to get a second contract from New England, I believe was Thai law. Because think about it. Akees, Asante Samuel, did not. Akeep Taleb, did not. Dorel Revis, did not.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Malcolm Butler, did not. Stefan Gilmore, did not. J.C. Jackson, did not. And it's getting to a point where I'm just like, can we please have a Star Corner get a second deal? Can a Star Corner live? What's a Star Corner got to do to get money in New England? Like, legitimately.
Starting point is 00:09:00 And I'm just getting scared. And granted, I think the trade rumor, I think the fact that there aren't any trade rumors or a good sign, New England, Gonzalez wants to stay in New England, New England wants to keep him around. They're not shopping him. No one's really offering anything. but what I'm afraid of is when New England does trade their stars, they notoriously get fleeced.
Starting point is 00:09:24 New England, whenever they get, when I'm telling you, when they trade their stars, they get robbed blind. And I'm so tired of getting short change for our good players. Chandler Jones, Shaq Mason, Rob Grownkowski, like, we're getting hosed. Stefan Gilmore as well. The last time, we got a first round pick for a star player was Brandon Cook's.
Starting point is 00:09:46 And that was back in, uh, that was back in, uh, what, 2018? 2017. 17. The 2017. 18 season that spilled into 2018. 10 off season. So, yeah. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I don't like that. I don't like where historically the signs had been. But with a team that's led by Mike Rable and Elliott Wolf, I think they'll get him. And, you know, Gonzalez is a great corner. He clamped up JSN. So that's nice. That's, that's, that's, that's, really good. I hope they keep them as a Pats fan, but I just have this really awful feeling that
Starting point is 00:10:22 they're going to deal in and get fleeced as is the case that they tend to do. Because I hate to say it, but if you're going to trade him, do it now while his value is high. Because if you trade, because if you move him at the deadline, yeah, you're not going to get it first. I mean, hopefully you do because if Sauce Gardner can get a first, I think Gonzalez should. But I don't think it's wise throwing the towel yet. If I were a betting man, despite my worry, I do think Gonzalez will be back in New England, and he will get paid more than Witherspoon. Because A, that's how contracts work in the free market. And B, I do legitimately think he's better.
Starting point is 00:11:00 And that's just not me. I mean, most people believe this. So, that's going to do it for this segment. We will be right back where we will be breaking down the weird and admittedly hilarious QB1 battles, and Jaden Daniels' weird, obsessive. session with his number. This is the Fumble Ruski podcast. It may not have always showed it in the statute, but you can see him making throws when he needs to make the throws. Back to back games where he has three touchdowns. Someone's got to get that six or seven spot. He's an elite
Starting point is 00:11:29 wide receiver as a rookie. Truly a lose-lose scenario for both sides. Welcome back to the Fumble Rusky podcast brought to you by Secret Weapon Consulting. Once again, I'm C.J. Mdeeris. With me as my good friend and co-host, Justin Tucker. And we don't, I don't think we've spoken about this, but before we get back into it, this needs to be addressed. We recorded this intro before the weird six, seven craze, by the way. So when Chris says, someone's got to get her six or seven spot, that's not, that's not him making a joke.
Starting point is 00:12:09 That was just something that he said before this whole thing. And now I hear it every time we do the show, and it makes me want to put my head into a wall, especially because I can see Chris on cam behind the scenes doing the little gesture that you do with that. And it fills me with rage that should not be humanly possible. But that's my soapbox for today. Thank you very much. We are moving back. I just figured I'd throw a little humor there to spice this up. So, Tuck, it's preseason. You know what that means. We got some 2B1 battles. Now, let me just say, I love a good QB1 battle. Do you know why that is, Justin?
Starting point is 00:12:50 And when I say QB1 battle, I mean between like two mid-quarterbacks. And I'm not counting Kurt Cousins and Fernando Mendoza. Because, you know, that's obviously a bridge guy with a young rookie. That doesn't count. I'm talking about McCarthy versus Murray, Watson versus Sanders, and Penn X Jr. versus Tagabaloa. And as I was saying, do you know why I love them? Why?
Starting point is 00:13:14 because it reminds me of the monkey knife bite meme from the Simpsons. We have two monkeys with knives circling each other, and everyone's throwing money at it, you know, betting on it. That's what this is like to me, frankly. You know, that's what it is because, you know, it's funny. There's a saying, if we have two quarterbacks, you have none. So, moving on, we have our, for moving forward, I should say, We got our first QB1 battle, Kyler Murray versus J.J. McCarthy.
Starting point is 00:13:49 And, and I'm just saying the only reason that this is first is because it's been decided. For those who don't know, before their first preseason game, they announced that Kyler Murray would be starting in a move that surprised literally no one. Now, I guess if you're a fan of nine, you thought Kyler Murray. had a, we'll say, small chance. Alas, yeah, J.J. McCarthy's just not that good. Justin, what's your breakdown on this, man? If Kyler Murray loses out to J.J. McCarthy or he plays at a level so bad that nine has to make an appearance,
Starting point is 00:14:36 I want him gone from the league. Not that he gets another chance on another team. not that he becomes a backup quarterback and doesn't see the field very often. I want him gone. Because with the weapons surrounding him, with the team that he is on, that was a quarterback away from actually competing in the NFC North,
Starting point is 00:14:58 if Kyler Murray can't summons it up one more time to figure this out, because I believe he has all the potential and all the ability to do it. If he can't figure it out with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hawkinson, Aaron Jones, and that defense, he's got to go. He's got to go today. And God bless him. If nine somehow looks like a better quarterback than Kyler Murray, I'm not sure if that says more about J.J. McCarthy and his development or Kyler Murray and his play descending from where it was. I hope Kyla Murray can play better. I hope J.J. McCarthy eventually develops in the quarterback of the future. But right now, I need to know if Kyler Murray is that guy for Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:15:54 So I need to see it. Hopefully he does well. And hopefully the Vikings have the quarterback going forward. But good Lord. I don't think they ever should have gotten rid of Kirk Cousins if this is the result it was going to be. home, they should have never let Kirk Cousins walk out the door. Or Sam Darnold, for that matter. Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Yeah, the Vikings have always been, I think Adam has mentioned this, and he's right to mention it, that the Vikings have always been that team where historically they've been loaded at every other position except for quarterback. They largely rely on journeymen. And that's really hurt them, has it not? Yes. Yeah, imagine how many rings that team could have, and they have, like, I believe,
Starting point is 00:16:51 a top 10 highest win percentage of NFL history. Like, just wow. If they could figure out quarterbacks, imagine. Imagine. So, yeah, this was pretty obvious that J.J. McCarthy was so bad last year when they signed Murray that he was going to be email. number one, and rightfully so. But I just think it's funny that they didn't even wait until the preseason was over.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Like I said, before the first preseason game, they said, nah, nah, Murray's our guy. And now there are rumors that old nine's days might be numbered in Minnesota, if you can believe it. Now, that I think is a bit of a stretch, but here's what it says. With Primer Murray being announced as the starting quarter, quarterback. J.J. McCarthy's days in Minnesota are numbered per Adam Schaefter. So yeah, hey, those Schaefter reports got some real weight behind him. So, yeah, I do think that this is a great opportunity for Murray because we've seen flashes that he can be really good. Now you give him, like you mentioned, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Asson, T.J. Hawkinson, Aaron Jones,
Starting point is 00:18:08 with a line that should be better and a ferocious Brian Flores coach defense. Come on, you should be able to compete in the NFC North, right? Sure, yes. So, yeah. Up next, this quarterback battle reminds me of the meme of the two garbage cans in the rain racing down the street. It's Deshawn Watson and Shador Sanders. I'm still holding out on Shador. What do you make of this?
Starting point is 00:18:43 I'm still holding out Hope Fisher door because everyone says he played like ass, but he made a couple of throws in that game that says otherwise. I think he's getting an unfair rap because of that interception. It was a bad interception, and hopefully he can get rid of those bad interceptions, but I think he's getting a bad rap. Deshawn Watson, you can't play like ass. You can't afford to play like ass. You're starting merely off the fact that you're,
Starting point is 00:19:13 Your contract is so massive. They can't afford to sit you on the bench. You have to start. Because if that wasn't the case, Shador would be starting. There's a reason why you're getting first team reps, even though Shador should have gotten some. And Todd Munkin said, uh-uh, you're getting all the first team reps.
Starting point is 00:19:35 And Shador's not getting any, even though he was supposed to be. It's because he's going to be the starter week one, and he has to play well. If Deshawn Watson cannot play well with this team, good Lord, this is going to be a problem. And they got some pieces on their team. Casey Conception, the way he played that first preseason game
Starting point is 00:19:56 with like 70-something all-purpose yards and that touchdown, he can be electrifying for this Brown's offense. I see the potential. They have pieces surrounding them. If Jerry Judy can somehow turn back the clock to 2024 and be that guy once again, he could be their number one. Fanon could be their quality,
Starting point is 00:20:16 could be their potential pro bowl tight in because I actually like him. I did watch the Browns game against the Steelers. He's very good, and I think he'll be underrated coming up this next season. I think he'll shock a lot of people. So they had pieces surrounding them, and Juggins should be getting healthy.
Starting point is 00:20:36 If they had the potential to be something on offense, And that defense is no slouch either. I know they just lost Miles Garrett, but Jared verse isn't bad. It's not a bad pass rusher. They got in exchange. They just had to give up Miles Garrett. But Jared verse isn't bad either. So if that offense can get it together, that defense should be solid.
Starting point is 00:21:00 But if that quarterback situation isn't solved, they're just to have more of the same. And that's what is concerning me. hopefully either Deshawn Watson or Shador Sanders can figure it out. I just think Shadour Sanders is just getting a bad rap for it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:21 As someone who used to really believe in Shador Sanders, my hope is getting crushed. Like, I have seen the videos from preseason and camp. It's not looking good. And I do
Starting point is 00:21:39 think Watson has the leg up. However, your point is objectively correct when you say that he only has the leg up because of his massive albatross contract. Oh, and by the way, Tuck, in case you were keeping track, this is the last year of his deal. This is the final year. I don't think he'll get paid like this again. So he needs to. I don't know if he'll get paid again. He might be at the league after this, genuinely. So you know he's as good as gone, and if you're the Browns, you better hope, you better pray that Sanders shows something, or else, let's be honest, you're probably going to be playing for next one.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Yeah, with a, like you said, with a draft pick, quarterback. I just, this is so uninspiring. It's like, it's like dumb and dumber kind of, you know? Mm-hmm. Or two-thirds of the three stooges. Or it's just, Deshaun watched the Shador Saiters. And you know, why not? We'll throw Dylan Gabriel in there too.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Why not? He's a funny little man. And you know what? Hell, let's have tailing green while we're at it from Arkansas. You know, because sky's the limit when you don't care. I totally forgot about him. I know. He had that insane combine, and then we just kind of stopped talking about him because, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:08 he's with the Browns. Yeah. Exactly. So, yeah. Do you imagine if they all start at least one game? How funny would that be? If they all start at least one game and play like ass? Oh, especially.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Deshawn Watson can't play like ass because if he starts playing bad, they're going to start to call for Shador's number. And Shador might play like ass because he hasn't been playing with the ones. He's been playing with the twos. And they won't give him any reps with the ones for some reason to build any chemistry. Yeah. I think this season is just kind of screwed from the word go. And not even because of the QB situation.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I'm sorry. Todd Munkin as your head coach does not give me any sort of optimism. It just doesn't. If I were a Browns fan, I would be rating the liquor cabinet before, during and after every game to try to make the Monkin madness more bearable? I'm not sure yet. The reason I say I'm not sure yet is because we saw what happened when he got a hold of the Ravens offense and how it revitalized them from 2023 until 2025.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Yeah, that's what happened, Tuck. He overstayed his welcome very fast. I don't think he overstayed his welcome. I think his team just got injured on him. and then filet-lay-lay happened. Oh, yep, forgot about number 77. You saw how bad he played against the Vikings? I did. Yep.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Also, why was the giant sign of? I know he's a Harbaugh guy, but come on. He needs to fix that, because he will be out of the league soon if he keeps getting beat like that. And this is what the Ravens' offense was dealing with at the time. And everyone thought, we were crazy. No, if you just lost the games, there is clearly a weak link and his name is Daniel Fia Lele.
Starting point is 00:25:09 All right. I understand. Maybe you should go to Cleveland. He'd fit right in. All right. Now we have our last quarterback battle. We have... Nope, I lied.
Starting point is 00:25:22 No, I was about to say we're forgetting one. Michael Pennix Jr. versus Tua Taga Vilaua. Or, for the more crass among you, Michael Pinas, Jr. and Tua turned to ball over. Yeah, this is another one where you could just play yakety sacks or their highlight, and it would give you an accurate picture of what the Falcons fans are dealing with. And this is another thing where I kind of almost want to put them into that same box. I'm going to put Kyler Murray in because is this not a good team? You got Bejohn, you got Drake London, you got Kyle Pitts and a good O-line,
Starting point is 00:26:00 and Kevin Stefansky, who's a good offensive mind, who likes to use his weapons. unlike Arthur Smith or Rahim Morris. Reh Morris used his weapons just fine. Not after Kyle Pence. He did well with him in his last year. Yeah, in his last year. Why did it take him that long? Also, the whole thing with Bijan and Tyrols year.
Starting point is 00:26:23 What the hell was that? I mean, thankfully, Bejohn was able to just muscle his way literally into a bigger role. It's just, yeah, I don't know what that whole Rahim Morris thing was, which, you know, I thought he was. to be a good coach. I really did. I still think he's a great defensive mind, embarrassed of minimums, and he should
Starting point is 00:26:42 hang his hat on that. I think that's fair enough. But overall, Panics versus Tagavaila. A lot of people thought Tua was going to come in and take the starting job. I was not one of those people. I watched Mike McDaniel, Tyreek Hill, and Jalen Waddle
Starting point is 00:27:00 bail Tua out Sunday after Sunday. Tua plays some of the most unethical football I've seen when it comes to stats, especially during that one year where he was allegedly really good. The stats would say, oh, Tua throws a 50-yard touchdown. It's like wrong. He threw a three-yard checkdown to Tyreek Hill. That is not true. He had some throws where he actually did throw in like reasonably far. So I don't say like that one year and work. Kind of petered out that Hill and Waddle had to come back to? I remember those.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Because here's what happens. He throws the ball and the receivers have to backtrack to it. It's like clockwork. I believe he does more than enough. I do think they have to slow down sometimes wrong, but I do think he does enough that season. I'm not saying he continually did it after that season, but for that season specific, that season where he had, like the dolphins had 70 points and then Broncos had 20, that one. Yeah. Yeah, I think he, they, did a good job. It just,
Starting point is 00:28:06 he wasn't hard to get it. He got bailed out by a gimmicky offense and superstar weapons. Because when Tyree Kills started getting banged up, Tuah got exposed and exposed fast. Yeah. Also, Mike McDaniel not being able to coach in cold weather did not help either. And his inability to beat teams about 500 really hurt him.
Starting point is 00:28:29 So. Which is why he's what the charges right now. Yeah, true. And I think he's a great. to see. I just don't think he should be a head coach. So moving on to the actual quarterbacks of this. Tua, all right,
Starting point is 00:28:42 let's just rip the band-aid off now. You know where this is going. His first preseason appearance with the Cardinals, instant fumble. I'm sorry. What? Your first time
Starting point is 00:28:57 making snaps on the band. It's an instant fumble, Justin. Oh, and then of course Michael Pennick says two, not one, but two bad legs. Oh my God. Oh, oh my God. Actually, talk you say, because you deliver it better. Oh, my God. Yes, I'll echo that. I echo that, my friend. Yeah, we both have to say, you know, just, actually, it's just, so just, just, just, just, just, just, just the falcons plan here was truly a masterstroke you have an injury prone left-handed quarterback and you replace him with another injury prone left-handed quarterback and yeah pedix has two bad knees
Starting point is 00:29:49 but the space into his head holds soup we need to legally reclassify his head as a bull because his brain is just much i just i feel so bad for the guy and you know you guys know if you watch the show And talk of me, I imagine you feel the same way. I think he should retire. It's like, dude, when you get hit and you start hand fencing, which is a sign of severe neurological trauma, you probably should be playing football. Dude, spend time with your family.
Starting point is 00:30:22 You already have your money. Like, I'm genuinely concerned about him. And panic, like we said, he has two bad knees. Because I know there's that one knee that kept getting hurt in college. And then he goes to the league and he hurts the other one. Like, Falcons. yeah, the post Matt Ryan years have not been kind to you. It just, but if I were betting, man, I think it's panics.
Starting point is 00:30:46 I know all the buzzes around Tua, but I still think it's panics because I'm just so dumb it to tell you the truth. I'm not sure. Both of them can't scare me. Because if it's not one is the other, one of them is going to get injured. I'm not sure who yet. but I'm kind of concerned. This one will be the most intriguing because if they can get back to their highest of highs,
Starting point is 00:31:15 the Falcons are a dangerous team. They are a very dangerous team. People should be aware of them because they can beat the Rams. They can go up against the Rams and beat them. They can be very competitive. And the NFC South is kind of low-key competitive. If the Falcons can put it all together, they have the weapons and they have the defense and they have the schematics and the system to pull it off. And they have a head coach that does have playoff experience.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Not very good playoff experience, but he has been to the playoffs before. So I'm just, I kind of want to see how good this team can be. But again, that quarterback position is a huge-ass question mark. So we got to wait and see if Pennix can get it together. Good for them. If Tua can recapture his glory years, all the more to them. But I need to see it. I mean, that's a weird part is that Falcons are contenders within their own division.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Granted, that says more about the division than it does them. But the NFC South is a joke. Yeah, they'll say, oh, this division is no joke. No, no, this is a joke, the NFC South. So, I don't, I don't know anymore, Tuck. I just, I don't know what to make of this. I just, what, this whole thing is just, you know, with Tuwa, Pennix, I already made a joke about two injury pro and left-handed
Starting point is 00:33:08 quarterbacks. What was the play here for Atlanta? Like, did you really have to bring in Michael Pennix, but with a weaker arm, to replace the regular Michael Pennex. If one gets hurt, the other one can step right in. Yeah, and he'll probably get injured too. Probably, more than likely.
Starting point is 00:33:28 But again, two left-handed quarterbacks. Yeah, fair enough. You have a point. So, our final topic will be Jaden Daniels' weird infatuation with his number, five. And as soon as I said that, did you hear that it's a it's his lawyer with at my door with the cease and assist letter he's probably going to break down my door and beat me and tase me probably because i dared say you know
Starting point is 00:34:05 he that's probably going to happen and let me just say the memes have been immaculate truly they have i love this justin about all the memes like they put jane dales on the five dollar bill they put jaden daniels on the nickel they would say oh five dollar footlaw no it's jaden daniel's footlo you know what i mean like they'll do all this stuff where if it has the number five no or they'll say oh this is my address five blankstreet and i'll just put picture jaden daniel's blankstree it's so funny you see jane daniels he brought this on yourself or maybe it's his mom or his camp or whoever but they they brought it on themselves here this is ridiculous so for those who don't know.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Sophomore cornerback at LSU Pickett, I think his name is. Was it like DJ Pickett? Something like that. Is wearing the number five. And apparently
Starting point is 00:35:03 Jane Danes in his camp don't like that. And they issue a season desist and they say, yeah, you gave someone else my number. You may not use my name, image, and likeness anymore.
Starting point is 00:35:12 Screw you, LSU. It's like, oh, LosU one-year wonder over here. talking tough. I don't care if you want a Heisman. Like, what? Dude, get off your high horse. The numbers are officially retired, so womp, wom. And they'll try to do this weird false equivalency about, well, Joe Burrow, his
Starting point is 00:35:33 numbers are retired. People are allowed to wear it? I'm like, oh, yeah. You mean national championship winner, Joe Burrow? Oh, stop. Yeah, no, no, I will not stop. I'm tired with this whole thing. Oh, they're really close.
Starting point is 00:35:44 No, they're not. The national championship sets them apart. And no, and everyone's going to say, oh, well, Joe Burrow was playing with Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase. Like, okay, what, what, you act like Jaden Daniels is playing with dishwashers and mechanics. He had Brian Thomas Jr. He had Maliki neighbors. He would live. I promise you.
Starting point is 00:36:12 I'm not. I've already told you about this already. I do not believe the national championship should separate the two. both have national champion. I mean, both have Natty's. I mean, Heismans. Both them have Heism. One of them just won a national championship of the team he had. If you're trying to tell me, Jaden Daniels team was in any way, shape, or form the same type of caliber as that LSU team is, I'm going to call you a liar because that is not true. And by that token, just because you won a national championship, that means you deserve to get your number retired.
Starting point is 00:36:50 That means Jemar Chase and Justin Jefferson should have their numbers retired. I think they will eventually, but just like always, their numbers will be unretired so someone else can wear them. This happens all the time. I don't understand why Jaden Daniels is team, because I don't think Jaden Daniels himself is having the problem. I just think it's his team that says, hold on. Wait a minute. How come you're allowing them to wear number five, but Joe Burroughs the one number that can't be, you know, worn? That's interesting. And to that credit, I'm like, yeah, I think Joe Burroughs number should be put back into the fold. I don't think you should hold on to that number for any means because his number is forever immortalized at that point. And I don't think it should be, no matter if he won a Natty or a Heism. I just, that's my.
Starting point is 00:37:46 opinion on it but that doesn't mean that LSU's in the wrong they have they're entitled to do what they want with the number it's not retired they didn't retire anything and um personally I think Jaden Jain O'Neill's team is going overboard with this and they're making him look bad than he actually is I don't think he really cares because I think he understands that this is something that happens his number will be given away to other people eventually that's just how it works. Lamar Jackson won a Heisman for Louisville. His number got retired. Then the next season, someone else wore it. Bryce Young won the Heisman. The next season, someone else wore the number. These things happen. It's just get over it. Get out your feelings. That's all it is. I understand
Starting point is 00:38:36 why people may be upset. But at the end of the day, just get over it. I don't think Jaden Daniels is stripping over it, though. Yeah, no, I, maybe, maybe. but let me say something to you. You can't argue with the memes. That's all. For example, minor league baseball on X posted, Yesterday's game will resume at 505 p.m. tonight in the fifth inning. Hope that's okay with Jaden Daniels.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Another one, out of respect for Jaden, this guy engaged, a woman, he said, secured my five star. Then, out of respect for Jaden Daniels, my wife is now, four star. And this is another one. Jane Daniels lawyers are considering legal action against Dr. Fauci after he pleaded the fifth. So yeah, I just love how we're all able to come together and say, oh, nope, you jokingly say, no, you can't use the number five anymore. You're not allowed to do that. Jane Daniels has it. It's just he deserved, he and his camp or whoever deserves every ounce of ridicule. I don't think he deserves it. I just think it's.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Someone deserves it or is camp. Like whoever does that is mom, whoever. Like this is so stupid. It's such a non-issue. And the only reason I am bringing it up is because it's funny. And sometimes, guys, you just got to laugh. You just got to laugh. That's all it is.
Starting point is 00:40:11 Personally, I understand why they're upset. But it's like, just get over it. I think Joe Burroughs number shouldn't be held in the way it's held at LSU. I think it should be worn by another person, but that's just how they want to do business. Yeah. So, I mean, I guess, but this whole situation is still undeniably very, very funny. And it has spawned some amazing memes. Truly beautiful, honestly.
Starting point is 00:40:44 That's what's all about, guys. The memes? The memes, literally. You know what, we're not affiliate with them in any way, but go follow NFL Memes IG. I love that. page so much. That page brings me joy. There are three certainties in life. Death taxes
Starting point is 00:41:01 and NFL memes IG making some bangers. But that is all the scheduled content that we have for today. Justin, you have anything else to say? Speak now or forever hold your peace. There's anything else
Starting point is 00:41:19 I want to talk about? No. Oh, but Jacoby Lane is up next. Ah, Jacoby Lane. He's playing good. He might be something. He might be something. There's a Ravens fan that I work with who said that to me recently. I guess there's something to this USC legend Jacoby Lane. Yes, I didn't think there was much to it until I was hearing reports that he was lighting it up in training camp. Then I saw a few highlights. I'm like, okay, we might have something here. And then after the first preseason game, I'm like, okay, okay, here we go. He might be.
Starting point is 00:41:55 actually be our wide receiver three now, which is... Hey, who knows, maybe could wrestle that other spot away from the eternally disappointing Rashad Bateman at number two. If Rashad Bateman can't stay healthy, then yes, he will be the number two. How do you like that? Well, then, I'm going to end this year, but I do agree with your point. So that will do it for us tonight. Thanks for listening.
