Most of the time, it's because they're just not doing what they're supposed to be doing.
Welcome to the game where we talk about how to get more customers, how to make more per customer,
and how to keep them longer, and the many failures and lessons we have learned along the way.
I hope you enjoy and subscribe.
What's going on, everyone? Happy Tuesday.
Hope you guys are having a rocking and rolling start to the week.
I wanted to make this podcast.
If you're not growing, look for this because there are recurring issues that come up in business.
And so we had one yesterday.
If Jim Walsh, it was great.
And just a fundamental mistake that was being made that hopefully you guys won't have to deal with or suffer from.
But it's very likely that you to some degree are or are not.
And so there's three main points that I think that we hit on in our community and then I probably need to hit on again, which is that many times we need to be reminded more than we need to be taught.
A lot of times when I look at deficiencies in the business, I find that the reason that there are deficiencies is not
because something new needs to be done, which is what we as entrepreneurs innately want to do
is like, oh, this isn't working. Let's try something new. When in fact, the reality is that most
of the time, they are just not doing the thing that you already said they were supposed to do.
And so what I have seen time and again, over and over again at different levels of business,
is that the people who are the most advanced never don't do the basics. They always fall up
with their leads. They always call them in the first five minutes. They always, you know,
respond with an email they always make sure that people are on board in the right sequence they
always always always never don't do the basics and so it's the basics that scale simple's what scales
advances what breaks and that's why most business owners uh continue to make these complex things that never
actually work and especially don't work at scale if they remove themselves from them and so if there's
pieces of your business that consistently break it's usually because the process is too difficult a or b
it's just not even being done and i think that there's this story that we tell ourselves
as entrepreneurs, we think about, we just, you know, I heard about this guy and all he did was he
changed this one thing and it three-xed his business, right? He just changed the button color.
You just changed the headline, right? And everything three-xed. But most of the times when you
change things, nothing happens. Real talk, right? Most times when you're like, well, let's switch
this word happy to glad, right? I call them happy to glad changes. And that comes from the
contracting world that I came from. They call them happy to glads, which is like people just
change stuff for the sake of changing it. And it doesn't actually change any. And you
anything at all.
And so I think most of the times when we look at our business, we look at something that's
not working, we see a happy and then say, you know what?
It's not working.
Let's switch to Glad.
But the reality is that they weren't even doing the happy process.
They weren't even doing the thing that you told them to do to begin with.
And so when you examine that, like, and it's mind blowing.
So like very, here's a very real example.
I just found out that our team on the marketing sales side was not falling up with the applications
didn't schedule a call.
So people who filled out applications and just didn't.
schedule a time to call because they couldn't figure it out, they weren't following up with that.
And I'm like, how in what, like imagine, right?
You're trying to build this, this beautiful acquisition system, this beautiful business, right?
And the basics aren't even being done.
Hey, Mosin, nation, quick break just to let you know that we've been starting to post on LinkedIn
and want to connect with you.
All right, so send me a connection request and note letting me know that you listen to the show
and I will accept it.
There's anyone you think that we should be connected with, tag them in one of my or layless
posts and I will give you all the love in the world. All right. So let's get back to the show.
The basics, right? And so I feel like over time I've consistently tried to go back.
And when I look at things that are not performing the way they should, like, I don't even
look for advanced stuff. I'm like, guys, like, are we writing headlines that have curiosity?
Is it creative we use, resonate with the customers we're looking for? Is it the offer we have
something that someone would actually want? Like, like the amount of effort that I go into, like that I
approach problems with now compared to what I did two years ago, three years ago is so much
different. The lens that I look at is like, guys, what are the, what's the objective? What are the
basic steps that need to be done? And I can't tell you nine times out of 10, there are basics
that are not being done. And so within your business, if you're looking at bottlenecks or
looking at things that are consistently breaking, right? Most of the time, it's because they're just
not doing what they're supposed to be doing. Right. And so that means that we don't need to make
something new, we don't need to make something fancy, we simply need to remind the team more
than we need to teach. We don't need to come up with new things. We need to remind them yet again
that they have to keep doing the things that got them there. And so I think, at least for me,
that's something that I have to consistently remind myself of because as entrepreneurs, we always
like to do new things. And what business usually requires is us to do the same things, again,
at the same level. And that's what can be, and that is why being an entrepreneur can be taxing and
challenging. But anyways, I hope that a little insight into the real mess-ups that we do all the
time. Obviously, they are working the applications now. If you did buy any chance apply,
they will be reaching out to you. But just to say, like, it happens at all levels. And I think
that looking, like, if you're not growing, it's probably because something that you think
is being done is not being done. And so just examining those pieces will usually unearth some
vote for you and you don't need to create anything sexier, complex, or advanced.
It's just making sure that they're executing what you think they actually are.
All right.
So anyways, lots of everyone.
Hope you have an amazing Tuesday.
It's always we need to be reminded more than we need to be taught.
Experts never don't do the basics.
And that's it.
Hope you have an amazing day.
Catch you guys soon.
And see you on the flip side.
Bye.
