Starting point is 00:00:00 Everyone, happy Motivation Monday, you know, Monday Madness, Monday, make it happen Monday, money Mondays, et cetera. Anyways, I, this little mini piece of content has been stirring in my head for probably a little bit over a week. And it started with a conversation that I had with Dave Lindenbaum. And so I guess I'm calling this, we need to be reminded more than we need to be taught. And anyways, Dave's a really high selling Amazon seller. He's got an e-commerce business.
Starting point is 00:00:30 So I was like 9,000 other businesses. And he was saying, he's like, you know, bro, like, I haven't talked to you about business stuff because, well, let me tell you something. So Annie Grace is a mutual friend of ours. And she has a New York Times bestseller on how to quit drinking, right? And he's like, so, like, talking to you about business is like talking to Annie about drinking. He's like, I haven't talked to her about drinking because, like, I really like drinking. And he's like, and so I kind of want to keep drinking. And I know that if I talk to her, I'm going to have to stop drinking.
Starting point is 00:01:04 And I know it's going to work because she's really good at. And he's like, so the reason I don't want to talk to you about like the stuff I need to do in business is because like, I know that it's going to work and then I'm going to have to like do it. And he's like, and he said that, he's even as a compliment, obviously, but it made me really think a lot. And he was like, some people just aren't ready. Even though they know what they need to do, they're just not ready. already. And so as like the the sub points for this, I would conjecture that a lot of people have the life that they really want, not the one that they wish they wanted, but the one that they really want. Because if you know what you need to do, which most of us really do
Starting point is 00:01:47 what we need to do most of the time, right? Like you don't, like we need to be reminded of the things that we need to do more than we need to be taught new things. because we know what to do. Like, you know you should take care of your customers. You know you should reach out with them. Like, you know you should check in on them if they didn't show up to the gym by the second or third day of the week.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Like, you know you should do that. But sometimes you don't because it's easier to just not, right? And when I say it's easier, it's like, it, like, I wanted to watch Netflix more than I wanted to go reach out to my customers and do the retention stuff, right? And so the life that I, have the business that I have as a result of my wants is exactly the life that I want, right?
Starting point is 00:02:35 And so it's not a question of like, am I, am I happy with like you are maximally happy with the choices that you've been making because you're continuing to make them. And so if you don't want the outcome that you are achieving, then you have to change the desire, right, or associate it differently. And so I know this is like super abstract. But it just the final thing is just that like we need to be reminded more than we need to be taught. And a lot of times we need to do the things that we already know we should be doing rather than try and find something new or sexy because it's the boring consistency that makes things work. Right. Like we still at gym launch have not come up with anything new in terms of, I mean we come up lots of new stuff in terms of what we provide
Starting point is 00:03:23 for our customers, but in terms of what our programs are, we have a gym launch program, which is 16-week intensive, and then we have an EFT, sort of just like a gym, because it was exactly what I modeled it after, because that's the business I knew. And so if you're getting into all these other things like Dave Lindemann was with all of his other businesses that he knew that if you talked to me, I would tell him to stop, and you have all of these side distractions that you know you should not be doing, you should probably just listen to the voice in the back of your head that already knows the right. answer. Thank you. This is the point I was trying to make. So Dave Lindenam. Hey, Mosin, a quick break just to let you know that we've been starting to post on LinkedIn and want to connect with you. All right, so send me a connection request and note letting me know that you listen to the show and I will accept it. There's anyone you think that we should be connected with, tag them in one of my or layless posts and I will give you all the love in the world. All right. So let's get back to the show. Said he didn't want to talk to me about business yet
Starting point is 00:04:22 because he knew what I was going to say. And so, and he knew that it was going to work. And so he knew what to do. He didn't even need me to tell him. He already knew what to do and was choosing not to do it. And so I guess the rhetorical question is like, how many things do we know we should be doing that we're not actually doing? And like, do you really need to pay for,
Starting point is 00:04:47 and this is me being like the person who gets paid for information and coaching, right? Do you really need to pay for someone to tell you what to do when you know what to, like, you already know what to do. Like in the back of your head, you know that you should probably not be looking at the girls on Instagram when you have a wife, right? You know that. And so you shouldn't do it, right? Like, and just like, if you just listen to that voice rather than enrolling in the, hey,
Starting point is 00:05:16 I need to, you know, improve my marriage program. And then it says like, hey, you know, compliment your wife. Like, hey, ask your wife. if there's anything you can do and like you know give first like give without expectation like you know that's what you need to do we're just not doing it and then we need to have someone tell us to do the thing that we already know we should be doing and so um i guess to wrap this up in a in a little bow to the best of my thank you for staying with me um is like how many things do you feel like you need like do you really need to learn about your business and how many things do you really just
Starting point is 00:05:50 need to do that you already know how to do. When Chris and Rob and Barnett flew out, hopefully they don't mind. So they won a contest that we had internally. And so we flew them out for the weekend. And I think they were planning on having like really in-depth business chats with us about like, okay, we're going to do this and we're going to move this price point and like all this stuff. And at the end of like the full time that we were there, they concluded and you know, we concluded with them was like, you guys have all the skills.
Starting point is 00:06:19 You guys know what you're supposed to. you guys know how to sell, you guys know how to market, you guys just need to do that consistently. And they're like, yeah, you're right. Because they were trying to, you know, break the million dollar barrier. And they're really close. They hit 70 grand. But in their last month, but they're like, we're just trying to break through that. And it's, there's nothing new.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Like, there's nothing new at all. It's literally just being consistent and doing it all the time. whether you want to or not. And so that's why I guess I'm calling this. Like we need to be reminded more than we need to be taught. We know the things that we should be doing. We know how to take care of customers. Most people know that you should smile.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Most people know you should greet people by name. You know you should have a high energy class. You know you should probably change the playlist and make them fresh on your regular basis. Right? We know we should reach out to them, you know, once or twice a month just to check in and see how they're doing. We know this stuff. We just don't do it. And so I guess this is me reminding you.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Do the thing that you know you should probably. be doing in your marriage, in your business, rather than spending all the time to seek out something sexy or something new, because the reality is that if it's sexy and new, it's probably not going to last because the things that are timeless, like smiling, being kind, caring, reaching out, having constant communication with people, whether that's your employees, whether it's your customers, whether it's your spouse, like those are timeless. I heard Jeff Bezos was talking about the investments that they do in Amazon, and he's like, we will always invest in things that make products get to our end consumers faster.
Starting point is 00:07:54 We always invest in things that make things cheaper. Because we believe that those are things that customers will always want. And so you can think of like some business principles are more timeless, like communicating, being kind, like caring, keeping clean facilities, like having trainers that agree people by name, you know, reaching out to people who did not show up just to make sure to show them that you care. Like, those are all the things that we know we should do and we just don't do them. And so maybe it's just time to do it and not think about what new sexy thing there is.
Starting point is 00:08:27 But anyways, I hope you guys are having a money madness Monday. And I hope this can maybe be a monotonous Monday for you. Boring but rich. And I hope that you take this harder. I hope it was valuable to you. And anyways, have an amazing week. And I love you all. Thank you for giving me a small drop of your attention today.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Catch your suit. Alright.
