Starting point is 00:00:00 You are listening to the Glass Cannon Network, the premier source for role-playing game entertainment. Last week on the Glass Cannon Podcast. 38 points of cold damage. Oh no. For Barnes. That's brutal. You've killed one of the Nagas. One still remains.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Things are about to get nasty. It's going to cast another spell here. This is a lightning bolt. Oh my God. You're back, I'm going down right now. Oh no. Sakawatchi goes to dying two. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:00:35 It's looking real bad. Everyone give me a reflex save as another scream comes from the sky. Sakawatchi goes to dying three. Yes. Yikes. It is Barnes's turn. Hello.owatchi goes to dying three. Yes. Yikes. It is Barnes's turn. Hello.
Starting point is 00:00:48 32 to hit. It's dead. Yeah. Yeah. Let's risk it for Sokowatchi. Am I right? For Sokowatchi. For Sokowatchi.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Come on. Natural 18 critical. So there we go. Wow. Sokowatchi is coming too. And he like shrinks away from Ravius. All right. it's okay. Why are you looking at us like that?
Starting point is 00:01:08 Sakawachi, we didn't do that. I recall an acute feeling of betrayal. Because I do not know if this makes you allies or enemies to my own cause. The adventure continues... now. A A couple things we need to talk about right off the bat. We are 74 episodes into this show, right? 74 episodes. 74 episodes.
Starting point is 00:02:13 And not once, not once have any of you told me when one of my strings is like this. For a whole episode. I don't look at you directly. Now I know. Now I know that none of you. Try not to make eye contact. It's like looking at the sun. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:02:32 But I'll finish it up, so I'll be like, great job, or has it been like this the whole time? I'm going to look at my monitor. So please, if you see it, if you see something facing. What if that's just the new style? I don't know what the kids are doing these days. Yeah, do both. Cool.
Starting point is 00:02:44 You ever tie these? Yes. Like a little bow tie? Like make it really tight around your face and then tie it. I do this if it's like church or something. Troy is looking fancy today. Going to a wedding.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Oh. Oh. I do this if it's a church. Are you going to small claims court today? Sorry. I'm gonna interview her with something. You're gonna look nice. Like a sailor.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Please tell me. These things go all zippity-doo. Do you ever use them practically? Yeah, I do. Sometimes I'm like, my hood is too tight. Yeah, just take them out. Or if it's cold, I have too much going on with my headphones. But I'll put that on and be like, oh, really tight.
Starting point is 00:03:17 And you do the like, whoosh, ding? Yeah, that's fun. Yeah. My kids love having hoods on. The boys love having hoods on. I'm always like, trick that hood off. While your dad walks around with hoods on. The boys love having hoods on. I'm always like, trick that hood off. While your dad walks up on the house. I found out.
Starting point is 00:03:26 I found out the other day that my son, who loves putting his hood up on his winter jacket when we walk to school, for the last couple days, wasn't taking his jacket off in school the entire day. Oh, no. Like, just with your jacket? You did what? And I was like, you were that kid?
Starting point is 00:03:44 Did you get an email from the teacher being like, Mr. O'Brien, we need to talk? They didn't care at all. They were just like, whatever makes you happy in your happy place. And I was like, everyone else thinks he's a weirdo. Tell him to take his jacket off. He's got a triple flat goose down there.
Starting point is 00:03:56 If I had done it in my school, that would have called the gang task force. They wouldn't have even called home. It would have just. Totally. I was like, can you just take your jacket off when you go to school? And he's like, fine.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I think clothing is like a safe place for kids. It's like a thunder shirt. Yeah. My high school cross country coach was very anti-hood while we were running in the cold. Because he said, if you wear the hood, when you're running, the wind will go into the hood and down your back. So he was very like, you can wear a hoodie.
Starting point is 00:04:24 It was fine, but you had to wear a hat to actually keep your head warm. So I've internalized that. LeBron James who I hate. He I did see a video of his son was like that was cool. He like went up to some dudes that were sitting in like the third row and he went to talk to them. They were like freaking out and then he's like take off your hoods guys. Take off your hoods. I like that. Oh sorry. Sorry LeBron. Sorry LeBron. I said I want to talk about a couple of things. One is the strings.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Let me know. Two, what you don't realize at home sitting in your mansions watching this show. Or on your toilet. Or in the toilet. Or in the toilet. You sit there for two hours. In your mansion, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Or on your throne. On your throne. On your throne. Pooping and watching us. Get up. Pause it. It's live. This is live. Skip it ad later and watching us. Get up. Pause it. It's live. This is live.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Skip it ad later and catch up. Everything looks the same to you, right? How little do you know? How little do you know about the magic of filmmaking? This entire studio has been flipped around. I used to sit where Kate is sitting. But Joe, do you want to explain what the problem with this setup was from day one?
Starting point is 00:05:24 Honestly, no, because it's extremely embarrassing. I can't believe it took this long to fix it. It's funny. We were trapped like rats. Well, we built a set. We have a very small space here and we built a set that the way it was built, the camera angles we wanted to kind of shoot in the round, we had to enclose the set. So like we had to be closed in when we started recording.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And we made many jokes about it. We were like, you cannot escape. Once we begin recording, you cannot escape. To get out once we finish recording, you have to move part of a set wall out of the way to then leave and go use the restroom. From the outside. Francis would have to let us out.
Starting point is 00:06:02 We'd be like, Francis, I have to pee. And we realized at a certain point that I guess after we shot 50 some episodes, that the way the cameras were angled, there is a corner that would never be on camera the way we shoot our show that should be the door. If we flipped it.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And I would say that. But we would have to completely 180 the studio, move every camera, move every audio line, every plug, everything that runs had to be exactly reversed. And to be fair, it wasn't just that we need to be like, what if something went wrong? What if we needed a battery for a camera? We need to change out a cable or something?
Starting point is 00:06:35 What if there was a fire? What if there was a fire, for example? If the fire marshal at San Diego Comic-Con had to approve our studio, we'd get up right out of the game. It would have saved us a lot of time, though. It would have saved us a lot of time, though. It would have saved us a lot of time. So we came in, completely flipped the studio. Also, we had been talking about doing this for months
Starting point is 00:06:54 and just dreading it. So we kept putting it off, putting it off. But we got it done between the last recording and this one. And now we have a nice big wide doorway. I mean, you could walk shoulder to shoulder through that doorway. It's awesome. could walk shoulder to shoulder through that doorway. It's awesome. I can see McD standing there right now.
Starting point is 00:07:08 McD, who also would have to get locked in here with us. With us, yeah. And now he can come and go as he pleases. Now he can just leave if he's bored. And he did. Bye, McD. Bye. See you.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Thanks. Awesome. It feels like Count of Monte Cristo or something. This feels like this like, I could just walk out of the prison cell. Oh, yeah. You don't have to like crawl over sandbags to get in and out.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Yeah. We don't have to smooth the thing. Oh, the smoothing took forever because it had to be a tight scrim. And the doorbell works now. That was another big addition. We've been here for two years and you could not buzz in.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Yeah. I'm just like texting our group chat. Let me in please. Let's take it a step further. When we got signed the lease for this place, not buzz in. I'm just like texting our group chat, let me in please. Let's take it a step further. When we got signed the lease for this place, Joe gave myself, Skid and Matthew keys and fobs in this place. That's incorrect.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Yep. It's not a fact. This is what Joe believes and I feel like I saw the transaction, but only Joe would really know. Matthew and Skid say they've never received those keys or FOBs. And I recently lost my FOB, so I have to key in like a vagrant. Because vagrants have keys? Like a really resourceful vagrant.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Like a resourceful vagrant. But you claim that you gave them the keys and the FOBs upon the lease signing. Of course. And from the first day that you guys visited, you'd never had a key. I've never had a key, man. This has been a bone of contention for a couple of years. That must be your other partners. Well, I called them and was like, can we get another fob, another key?
Starting point is 00:08:35 And they were like, that'll be $850. And then I was like, can you come and fix the buzzer? And they were like, no, because, and then they were like, and rent's due tomorrow. OK. And we didn't pay our rent. And we rent to $300. Within three days, we'd be out of this place. I guarantee you that.
Starting point is 00:08:52 But eventually, Francis kept leaning on them because Francis gets the job done. Yep. Thank you, Francis. Well, Francis made a contact inside a lady he was emailing. And I think they connected. And he was like, can you help us out with this? And she was like, I'll take care of you.
Starting point is 00:09:04 So. Thank you, Francis. Talking to her on your pillow, I bet. Hey, listen, now that we're done with this, about that buzzer at the studio. Not that I've buzzed you. A little commitment that Francis has always shown for this company.
Starting point is 00:09:20 He's like 84 years old. I'm really passionate to believe that this, when we pull the camera back, is stamp collecting. Oh my god. Just, his commitment to fix the buzzer. He had to sleep with us. Thank you, Francis. Thank you, Francis.
Starting point is 00:09:36 We're truly the unsung hero of the buzzer fixing. Yeah, so it's kind of nice. I walked in and I was like, whoa, we had a very important business meeting last week and you were here in studio overseeing the fixing and everyone was dancing in the background while we were on this call. This is wildly inappropriate. Yeah, this is not a professional business call at all. There were purple lights just going up.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Yeah, it did look like you were in a club. Excuse me, sir, are you in a club? Club? Reconsidering doing business with you. Sydney, you told me off-camera, so I want you to say it again. Oh no, what? How excited you are right now about the direction of everything that we've got going on. Oh, I'm so excited. We were talking off camera just about everything that's coming up. Tour, Ascension, the new campaign, Campaign 3, and just all the stuff we have to figure out logistically, but then also the exciting things like
Starting point is 00:10:32 building new characters, talking about what kind of story we want to play, where we want to take things, and I'm just overwhelmed with excitement. There's so many things going on. And also continuing Gatewalkers, you know, to a good ending, having fun with my new character. I'm just so fucking amped for Tor for Ascension and then yeah, for whatever the future holds for campaign three. I'm just like already
Starting point is 00:10:55 I have so many ideas and we keep like, what if we do this? What if we do this? I'm like, I have a million characters in mind. I don't know. You're going to need them all. Yeah. Keep them all in mind. That's a good place to You're going to need them all. Yeah. Keep them all in mind. That's a good place to be, getting back to that excitement. Yeah. The excitement of creativity.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Yeah. Do you feel excited like I do? Yeah. Especially today for sure. Something in the air. We were... We had some discussions before the show and it was like... And just some of the stuff that came up was just like, yeah, man, I'm fucking ants.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Yeah, I don't have a million. I don't have a million characters. I've got literally one, but I'm excited about it. And that's exciting. What's gonna happen when Matthew has the same exact concept and you feel bullied out of choosing it? It's absolutely impossible that he has this concept. And that's no longer-
Starting point is 00:11:39 It's too unique. But that's no longer happening. Now it's Matthew and I, who literally unspoken, will turn to each other and go, I have an idea, and then it will be the same exact, almost too a T character. Well, we can talk about the one. Should we talk about the one?
Starting point is 00:11:55 Wait, which one? The privateer. Oh yeah. We were gonna do, which I don't think we're doing anymore anyway, but. We had backups for, I think for, I can't remember what we were doing. It was for the live show.
Starting point is 00:12:04 It was for Strange Aeons. Strange Aeons. We were both gonna do a slash buckler. I was like, wait, you're gonna do a slash buckler? I can't remember what we were doing. It was for the live show. It was for Strange Aeons. Strange Aeons. We were both going to do a slash by quote. I was like, wait, you're going to do a slash by quote? I'm going to do a slash by quote. And then I was like, well, I was like, my guy's going to be a privateer. And like, he has a boat, but he's like, you know, et cetera, et cetera.
Starting point is 00:12:15 And he's like, oh, well, my character's going to be a pirate. A famous Chinese female pirate in history. And like, but she turns into a good pirate because the government can't pin her, so she gets hired by the government. And Matthew goes, so also a privateer. So a privateer. Privateer. And then we were like, eh.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Then we made a deal. That if we both died, we would be brothers, what did we say? We were gonna be the Aubrey and Matron, of Matron, Matron? Matron? Matron. Matron of our campaign.
Starting point is 00:12:48 But then we rolled, I already rocked a paper suit to see who would be the captain and who would be the doctor. Oh, I forgot about this. I think we did roll. You won. And I won, I was gonna be captain. You were gonna be the captain. But it hasn't happened.
Starting point is 00:12:59 You both lived. I have you, sir! Exactly. Ah! Oh, what could have been? Might still have. We could still make it happen. It could still happen. Maybe we'll all be on,
Starting point is 00:13:08 we'll be this crew of the same ship for Ascension. That would be fun. Yes, unfortunately there are no rivers or lakes anywhere in sight. We will. It's a completely landlocked campaign. We'll be the descendants of a ship that crashed here eons ago.
Starting point is 00:13:21 It'll be like loss. This is a ship in the middle of the forest. The ship. Where'd this go from? Already, Ascension. It would be like loss. This is a ship in the middle of the forest. Like the ship. Where'd this go from? Already, Ascension. It's fully crewed. It's fully crewed. We've just been carrying on as if we were at sea.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Is that a polar bear? They're like, oh, there, from the deck. We're like those two guys in Mary Poppins. Yes, yes. Oh, yeah. That was exactly what I thought. Yeah. Anything else, Kate?
Starting point is 00:13:42 How are you? Yeah. Yeah. Wow, not excited about that future. I mean. Yeah. Anything else, Kate? How are you? Yeah. Yeah. Wow, not excited about that. I mean, I am just because of the fact that excitement we have talked about is unfortunately contagious. Some say toxic. Excitement is toxic.
Starting point is 00:13:58 I guess I'm excited as well. No, actually, I'm very excited for Ascension, and I feel like I can't say anything about it. Yeah, that's the other thing. It's like, we have to shut our mouth, I'm very excited for Ascension and I feel like I can't say anything about it. Yeah, that's the other thing. It's like, we have to shut our mouth. I'm very excited for my character. There's also some other Kate related exciting news. Today I walked into the tea shop and Kate was there
Starting point is 00:14:15 and she acknowledged my presence. Whoa. Wow. Big step. Wow, are you guys like friends now? I don't know if I can go that far. Okay. Would you like to escape her lips
Starting point is 00:14:24 or was it just like a nod? I can't believe you're telling everyone this right now. I think she said something like, oh hey. Oh. Oh. Nice. It was big for me. When she ignored you the first time, was she wearing earplugs?
Starting point is 00:14:35 Oh no, I wasn't. I wasn't. Oh, that's... She looked directly at me and did not compute who I was. Maybe the next time she'll remember your name or something, that would be cool. I don't want to push her too fast too far. Wow, she looked directly at me and looked at did not did that compute who I was Maybe the next time she'll like remember your name or something. That would be cool I know I don't want to push it too fast too far. Yeah, oh hey is a good start. Yeah, it's something I was already talking to CJ so I was feeling friendly
Starting point is 00:14:58 You guys all go the same tea place everyone goes apparently. J go there together Yeah, what's up nash I want to tell you guys about a change we made here at the Glass Cannon Network from a business standpoint with our wireless service. We switched over to Mint Mobile. We really did because traditional big wireless carriers just seemed to constantly find ways to chip away at and keep our money. After years of just seeing crazy high prices with these carriers, I finally got fed up with their bogus fees and their free, quote unquote free perks that actually cost more in the long run. And so we made the switch over to Mint Mobile. Say

It is here to rescue you and get you paying just 15 bucks a month. That's all we pay. 15 bucks a month. All plans come with high speed data and unlimited talk and texts delivered on the nation's largest 5G network.

Folks, we're back. I want to thank our amazing sponsors for Campaign 2. Foundry, VTT. We got to see some cool combats recently with the snow mod. There's a mod for everything on Foundry. But the snow, I love it. Sometimes I just bring it up and look at it.
Starting point is 00:17:18 It calms me down. Like that Netflix fireplace. It's like the Yule Log. Yeah, the Yule Log. The Yule Log. I love a Netflix Youlog. And of course, Norse Foundry, for all your random number generating needs. They've been generating some numbers recently. They really have.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Yes, they have all over this table. One could call random. Starting point is 00:19:22 Just go to glasscannonnetwork.com slash retreat I believe let me make sure and you can grab your package today. Wow. Just really held on to that one. Yeah. You kept looking at the camera too. This is as you're waiting for a laugh from the camera. I got it. Let's talk about last week's app. A lot of stuff happened, none of you remember. It was a while ago. I opened my character sheet and I was like, I am dazzled and stupefied and have 27 hit points. What happened?
Starting point is 00:20:00 Mick D actually told us all what happened. Yeah. Do you want to do the recap? Yeah. So ever since want to do the recap? Ever since you left Skywatch and have been on this boat with Uli Cook and Deniji and the whole squad, Sakawatches, Aritaki pals, or Saratakis good time, Aritaki pals, you've been traveling through this area known as the Lake of Mists and Veils en route to the Sarkora
Starting point is 00:20:25 Scar, Mendev, you don't really know. You're kind of following Sakawatch's vibe. Sakawatch looks to the stars and sees visions and believes that he needs to go there to sacrifice a god in order to save the world. During this trip down the river, you have been experiencing these strange bubbles coming up from the lake, from the river that you're traveling on. The bubbles seem to be producing these either hallucinations or illusions or they're like triggering memories.
Starting point is 00:21:01 You're not quite sure what's going on, but you've been having these visions, these shared visions of all of you standing in front of an Ayudhara, pulling a sled with some large creature on it, covered in a tarp. And then last week you saw a third very powerful vision of... Do you remember what it was? A tower. Tower? The black... Broken tower. Yeah. I don't know what it is, but tower. A tower? The black... Broken tower. Yeah, I don't know what it is, but I immediately looked at Skid because I was just like, is
Starting point is 00:21:30 this the Great Tower? Right? I don't know. This sounds like something that we encountered in Jade Regent when we were crossing the Crown of the World, right? I think there was a tower. Yeah, there was a tower in Jade Regent. There was a tower there as well, but there's also the famous...
Starting point is 00:21:44 The Whispering Tyrants. The Whispering Tyrants tower. The Tyrant Baph a tower. There was a tower in that region. There was a tower there as well, but there's also the famous. The Whispering Tyrants. The Whispering Tyrants tower. Our bath bombs. I didn't know if that had something to do with it. But not only the tower, when we were like transported to wherever that is with the tower, we saw the whale in the ice and we were like trying to get to it.
Starting point is 00:21:59 And then when we got transported back to the boat or whatever's happening, whether it's a dream, the whale became a, like, caporeal, I guess? It shot lasers out of the stars. Well, it came out of the stars. It saw this. Yeah. It saw that.
Starting point is 00:22:12 But it was an illusion, according to Sakawachi. Yeah, it was all an illusion. Manifested, yeah. When you were standing in front of this tower, you looked down on the black ice, and you saw this mammoth creature beneath limbed in blue iridescent light and then when you returned to the deck, Sakawachi was frozen from sharing this vision because yet again, Sakawachi was in these visions staring at you in horror, in disbelief.
Starting point is 00:22:38 In the vision he was? In the vision, yes. And we were, so the tower is not the Whispering Tyrants Tower. We climbed the tower and looked down at the – No. We didn't climb the tower. We never – We just saw the tower. You were standing in front of the tower.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Oh, okay. I thought you just said we were standing from the tower looking down. In the previous vision, you were standing in a circle of like black spires. Right. Now here, there's like obviously one very important tower. There's this creature. You come back, Sakawatcha is frozen in fear. The rest of the people on deck, I think,
Starting point is 00:23:06 were like twitching from nightmares. And yes, the whale. Is this a soil? Floating through the sky, shoots lasers from its eyes. No, it's probably another giant floating man. Giant, floating second whale of death. Just passing through your universe. A laser-eyed whale.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Massive coincidence. Yeah. Oh, is your name a soil? No, never heard of that person. Sorry, Sally. Sakawashi says, the stars, they've come to punish us. The eyes shoot out these javelins of light. They land on deck.
Starting point is 00:23:39 You fight these nagas. It is a brutal battle made all the worse by this memory that seems to be acting as a mechanical hazard and dragging you further into— That's where we keep hearing a scream. Yeah, you keep hearing screams. Screams are coming from the dream and they were manifesting in ice on the ship and it was fouling us all up.
Starting point is 00:24:03 That was no fun. Yeah. As the episode— It was funling us all up. That was no fun. Yeah. As the episode- It was fun, but no fun for our characters. As the episode ends and all of you are in various states of disrepair, Sakawachi is yet again eyeing you very nervously and says something to the effect of like, I feel like you are in some way responsible for releasing this great evil that my people are trying to stop. I don't know if you're friend or foe.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Up until now, everything in your behavior is that you are good people, but obviously Sakawachi is afraid of you and your role in all of this. That's where we'll pick up, but you also all had a deviant ability awakening from this experience as well. So let's go around the horn because for most of you, this will be your second awakening. I want to know what you chose. Who's going to talk about it, Cindy? It's my first awakening since Gic is fairly new.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Oh, that's right. You had just got your awakening on what's her name before she whatevered. Well put. Well said. What happened here again? Yeah, nothing. It's clearly not important. Yeah, so my awakening, I get to choose between the two. I still have, you know, both available.
Starting point is 00:25:19 And I think the one that I'm gonna pick, which is kind of fun, leans into the bard stuff kind of. I have eerie flicker is the feat. If a strike would hit me and I'm not already concealed or hidden, I flicker and then I can – I basically become concealed for a round. The awakening is when my body flickers, I momentarily assume a terrifying form. The creature, if they fail a flat check against concealment, it becomes Frightened One. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:25:52 So that would be very helpful, especially if I'm up in the mix in combat where I probably don't want to be. That would be really cool. So I think I'm going to choose that one. Oh, that's fun. I like that. I love an eerie flicker. What is that? That's scary. I like that. I love an airy flicker. What is that? What is that from what is the oh, it's what is the background? Yeah, it's sense of belonging Sense of the lethal had that one. That's what I thought From this campaign, I mean I am just running through my memory and like let's be a rise the ruler Which is available?
Starting point is 00:26:29 Joe what you doing? I don't think I have a choice right? I think there's only two so if you had one I'm like a choice. Yeah, if you had one I already had one and so I guess it's just the other one Okay, that was my question though Do you do they stack and you get to choose between the two of what? Happens in a moment or is it one, you just take over the other? The way mine reads, it seems like it's an action you choose to take and then you roll. Like, you know, it's an action.
Starting point is 00:26:52 But do you choose between the one you had and this new one? Like, how does yours happen? So like mine is ghostly grasp. So I can reach out 15 feet and grab an unattended object. My first awakening was I could grab a creature and grapple them. So that's kind of a choice. You're grabbing an object or a creature. The second one is multiple arms now extend and entwine into each other and can essentially shove a creature, move a creature five feet, 10 feet on a crit,
Starting point is 00:27:25 I think something like that. That's cool. That's interesting. Yeah, so I do think it's like you have to choose what you're doing before you roll it. You say, I'm either gonna grab them or I'm gonna push them and then you make an attack roll, so. That makes sense, that's cool. Yeah, so, you know, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:27:36 I haven't used them much at all. I don't think it's very useful for Brother Amius. I think that it'll be more, I think honestly, I need to think more about using it to grab an object, or, you know, more than like in combat because it's, it doesn't seem as good as so many of the other things I could do. But if you know, somebody's up against a cliff, it'd be amazing. Oh yeah. You know, that would be super cool.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Side of a boat. Yeah, exactly. That'd be nice. Skip, what about you? My I beams that I never ended up using, they leveled up so I can choose to use smaller quicker beams for my eyes instead. So instead of dealing D6 worth of damage, it'd be 2D6, it'd be 2D4, but the, they have the agile traits. Each attack has the agile traits and I don't need a free hand to make it, which I did need
Starting point is 00:28:24 a free hand for the other versions of it. So that's cool. So this might actually be useful a little bit. Yeah, maybe. Very circumstantially. Yeah, it could be. Part of the problem is like, is this the range sort of limitation?
Starting point is 00:28:37 Because like everything else that I can do is like at least it's like double the range or more of what these I-beams could do. So it's rare for me to get to be in a circumstance where I would use them, but hey, who knows? Maybe somebody could close on you, yeah. You never know. I have the same awakening, but this is only my first,
Starting point is 00:28:55 I mean I have the same deviant ability and this is my first awakening. So I took the two actions, 60 feet blast, the mind come from my hands. And every creature in a line. They come from your hands? Yeah. Oh, it's a line.
Starting point is 00:29:07 And it becomes a line that goes, you can do every creature within, in a line. You still Barnes? Yeah. Okay. It's been a while. Matthew just looks over at me like, what is happening here?
Starting point is 00:29:20 So he's like a Marvel character now, he can like shoot. Well, he always was. I just have never had an opportunity. Like, I've never really found an opportunity to use it because it's like, all right, yeah. You have the range limitation. It was only, it used to be only like 1d6 or something.
Starting point is 00:29:35 And then it was like, and there's a risk of a backlash. So I'll just. Yeah. This is the kind of thing that it would have been cool. Like if I was a pure melee fighter, this would be a great thing. Like I know there would come up in circumstances where I do need to make a range attack would help, like this would be great. But for me, the way I'm built, like basically everything that I do does
Starting point is 00:29:54 this, but a little bit better. So it's just a little redundant. Yeah. Is yours cool, Kate? Yeah. So I have both of my awakenings now. Is yours cool, Kate? Yeah, so I have both of my awakenings now. So I feel like they kind of stack
Starting point is 00:30:08 because one is on a hit and one is on a critical hit. So one of them is on a hit, you deal 1d6 persistent bleed damage, which increases at 10th level if we make it to that. And then the second one is on a critical hit, I can push the target back, double the normal distance and not get prone. Wow.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Oh, that's cool. So I feel like, cause at first I was like. Sorry, what is the normal distance? I don't know. Oh, no, no, no. Oh no, I see. If it hits, you deal an extra die of weapon damage and push the target back by five feet,
Starting point is 00:30:44 which is the original Titan Swing feet description. So now I can do 10 feet and it knocks it prone. So yeah, pretty cool. I'd say the best for last. I feel like my feet is most relevant to what I do. And that's why I use it more. And I don't, like the backlash to me isn't as bad as like if I miss because what I get from it is so good.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. Deviant, these like weird mutations that you acquired during your experience, somehow you didn't have it pre-gate. The gate experience changed you and gave you, imbued you with these powers. And we seem to get awakenings after like dreams or dreamlike states, so maybe the gates
Starting point is 00:31:33 are still like affecting us or something. I would say after this fight, definitely. Like, yeah, now that we're like manifesting things into the real world, that's some dream. Yeah, I think this is the first time we think that we could actually be dangerous to the people we're trying to protect. What do I, I cannot come up with this,
Starting point is 00:31:51 but there is a character who's in something, can know if it's like a book or a Twilight Zone or something where it's like things they dream become manifested in the real world. Isn't it the little boy who can hurt everybody with his mind on the farm, the weird little boy in Twilight Zone. That's not for the dream though, that's conscious.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Oh, he was conscious, yeah, he doesn't dream. Yeah, it's a Twilight Zone episode. It's very familiar with you. Is there a Twilight Zone episode where this happens? Yeah. The kid like everything, you have to be really nice. Sydney was talking about. Yeah, that's what you do really nice to him
Starting point is 00:32:17 because he can just like. You have to be nice to me. The Simpsons did it. Yeah. But I guess the dream ones did. It was Clint Howard, I think. Was it, oh no, no, it was Bill Money. It was Bill Money. He played the kid. It's great. It's also No, it was Bill Money. It was Bill Money. He played the kid.
Starting point is 00:32:26 It's great. It was also in one of our seasons of Get in the Trunk. It was like that exact thing. Was it? If you dream. There was a kid, remember the teenager in the high school. Oh, that's right. Like if somebody kind of like pissed off,
Starting point is 00:32:38 it wasn't like conscious. It was like so conscious. Oh, I remember. So that might be what you're thinking. That might be what I'm thinking. Maybe. You're a fucking kid. I hate that. Isn't that kid what you're thinking. That might be what I'm thinking. Maybe. Fucking kid. Isn't that kid that you tried to shoot with?
Starting point is 00:32:48 Yes. I know. I was thinking, like, Cumstone was right to take that guy out. Always listen to Cumstone. Shoot first, ask questions later. Magdalena met a minor, like, on the beach to try to talk to him. Oh, yeah. And Cumstone was like, I'm going to take him out.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I'm taking the shot. I'm taking him out. Just take the shot. Completely innocent 17 year old kid. Well, after this, everyone is pretty hurt. Let's pick it right up there. What do you guys wanna, how do you wanna handle this? Sakawatch is kinda looking at you all, hesitant. I'm gonna be honest.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Sakawatch's attitude towards us and making this travel experience a little bit less than I think he's going to come at us. You're putting a lot on him. He doesn't do anything. He was tattooed by his grandma. He sees. And he's going to tell us.
Starting point is 00:33:34 He got some ink from his grandma. And now he thinks he's hot. What is up? No, the reality is, Sakawatch, I think you may be right. I think he may be right. I think he may be right. Zephyr's like holding her arm, she's like bleeding. What we saw, doesn't it stand to reason that we had something to do with releasing this whale?
Starting point is 00:33:54 But Sakawatche was there too. I think we're the ones making sure it doesn't get out. Perhaps. We already know that it made thralls of the elves that faced it before, right? Vance! You're right. Also, we could have been thralls and had our memory wiped. We could have done this for Soyo and have no memory of it. What concerns me too is we haven't seen any evidence of anything happening since the missing moment, right?
Starting point is 00:34:23 Like, there is nothing that we've seen in the real world that is further evidence of something happening, but this, and now, if we are responsible in some way for manifesting this illusion... Yes, this illusion. We are. An illusion it may have been, but it created very real problems. We might be in part in thrall right now. No. I think I would know. No, Sakawatchee was in the dreams also, who says it's not him.
Starting point is 00:34:52 To be clear, though, I saw what you saw. I never disappeared like you disappeared. My whereabouts are accounted for. What's happening to me isn't a memory. I'm being, I feel like I'm being pulled into your memories. It is possible this is what we saw already. Why are you looking at me like that? Because I'm sick of, I'm just, I'm sick of this. Everyone telling me
Starting point is 00:35:23 who, who we are and what we've done and what we see. And we just don't have any control over it, and now you're telling us that we're the enemy. I'm sorry, I don't mean to... I don't want to make you feel bad. I'm just telling you what I see and how I'm interpreting it. As I said, you've been very nice to me, but maybe what Brother Ramius is saying is correct. You were doing things beyond your own will. Yes, perhaps.
Starting point is 00:35:50 There's truly no way to know. And Zephyr, I understand the frustration. But my memories were taken. Well, all I know, Sakuachi, is that whoever those people were in that vision, if we were indeed thralls, we are not that now. is that whoever those people were in that vision, if we were indeed Thralls, we are not that now. And if perhaps by some unconscious or subconscious control we are doing these things, well, I'm for one, I'm not going to stick myself in a box so I don't hurt anyone. I'm going to figure out how to solve this thing and get it out of me.
Starting point is 00:36:17 What about those towers, Sokwatchee? The black towers and the monolith stuff, do you know where that is? Yes, your grandmother, did she ever say anything about towers, spires? There is talk in the histories about there being ruins on the crown of the world from civilizations long past. It sort of all fits together that if you were there or if someone was there and you're experiencing
Starting point is 00:36:47 their memory, it looked like you were in a very dark, cold place. Maybe they're all tied together. Maybe it's just window dressing for this vision. What are you seeing, Sakoichi? In the stars, when you say we need to head this direction, we need to go to Sarkoris. Why? Do you believe this living god is there, in Sarkoris? That is what my people believe, and the others pipe up, and they're like, yes, there are the histories say that gods used to walk the earth there, and ever since the world wound
Starting point is 00:37:24 closed, there are areas that have collections of spirits such as this. Oh, gods. I mean, creatures with the power of gods, but demons, demons suck, Wachi. I mean, we know. That's what used to walk there. We know the risks, but this is our quest.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Maybe. Follow that star. No matter how hopeful. Is this a musical joke. No matter how hopeful, hopeless, this a musical joke matter how far I don't understand his humor. I don't understand. Bonz's humor. No one does.
Starting point is 00:37:57 No one had to just let that leave there. It's just like sit there unremarked upon. Actually, you can people come up to me at our tour and they say keep making the musical reference person person. I've heard that happen person come Usually is like thank you once you for making those musical jokes, and I'm not exaggerating And I do not want those people to talk to me Let's start selling why don't you just stay in Matthew's? Yeah? Why don't you just stay over there talk to your friend Matthew? Let's talk to your friend Matt. Let's see me have a lot to, why don't you just stay in Matthew's house? Yeah, why don't you just stay over there and talk to your friend Matthew? Talk to your friend Matthew.
Starting point is 00:38:26 You have a lot to talk about, why don't you just hang out over there? We'll start selling playbills at the show and see how many we sell. And when it's two per show, we'll stop making those jokes. I think, you mean something else that we could, something else that someone could buy
Starting point is 00:38:40 and remember the life-changing experience of seeing us on tour tickets available now? All right, we'll start selling. All right, we'll start, so. All right, we'll start to unplay build. $40 each. What Postacuachi was gonna say before we was so rudely interrupted by a musical theater reference. You could have just responded immorally. You could have just moved on.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I don't know the reference. It's the Impossible Dream! What is that? It's a famous song. Very famous. From what famous? I don't know. Fan of the Mancha, but it was recorded many, many times. I feel like you're just making all this up. Impossible Dream. What is that? It's a famous song. Very famous song. From what famous? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Phantom of the Mancha, but it was recorded many, many times. Like you're just making all this up. Impossible Dream. Sorry, Matthew. Parentheses. Dream the Impossible Dream. I know that, but I didn't know the reference.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Anyway, Sakawatchee says. That's the bridge. I'm... Please stop. Let Sakawatchee speak. Please stop. All you people that talk to him, stop enabling him for God's sake.
Starting point is 00:39:25 You see what we have to deal with. That's the bridge. I had something important to say that I feel like would be relevant to the adventure, but I've lost my train of thought. No, I just, what I was going to say was, this is our quest, but, and he hesitates,
Starting point is 00:39:51 I'm beginning to question whether or not this is your quest. In what way? What do you mean? Are you kicking us off the boat? No. How we were helping? It's been... We're in the middle of the lake. It's been a long day, and my head hurts from whatever hypnosis I was under.
Starting point is 00:40:05 I don't wanna say anything. I think we should all get some rest. Yes, perhaps. Perhaps a night's rest will do us good. I am very hurt. I know you are as well. Yeah. Perhaps we just need some time apart. I'm glad after I saw the map. I know this boats big enough
Starting point is 00:40:27 We can go to separate rooms Do you need you you can still hang out with us if you want? We could drink more she looks to Sakawatchi. Yeah, wait a minute. Aren't you wasted? I'll certainly I sobered her hammered. No, I sobered up. I slept for a little bit when When I slept for a little bit, I? When I slept for a little bit. I should have given them all a minus two to the 10s. Yeah, the whole thing happened while you were- Wait, still be doing that encounter.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Ah! Seeing the big snakes sober me up real fast. But yeah, when you say that, Deneji sort of looks to Sakawatchee and the others and she's like, no, no, no, you go, we'll talk. You get this vibe that there's like a yikes. I look at Zephyr.
Starting point is 00:41:07 Skism. We fucked up. We didn't fuck up. Just some people think that we're like the chosen ones and some people think that we're their enemies. And let's just split up before we say things we regret. Maybe we should all take a nice eight hour nap. Oli Cook says I have to drive the boat. Not you.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Oli Cook was resting, that's why we were up on deck, we were navigating the boat, so yeah, it's Oli Cook's turn, and I'll do some treating of wounds in the lower deck. Does anyone have any lingering conditions that tick on the round? I had dazzled and stupefied. All right, so those.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Stupefied does not go away. Does not, I'm stupefied one. From what I remember of being stupefied, it doesn't go away. Unless the ability says it goes away. I was also stupefied, but mine does go away. Oh. Okay. Maybe it does go away, but in the meantime,
Starting point is 00:42:07 I'm gonna just start treating winds around the horn. Great, I'm gonna do that off here. What'd you do? Are you treating me, who are you treating? You better be treating yourself. Me didn't say. Zephyr. Yeah, I'll just do it off here,
Starting point is 00:42:22 and I'm not gonna roll this, I'm done with it. We all get healed. Yeah, because nobody's within like eight hit points of going down. No, like 20. So yeah, we'll do it off air. And basically it takes two and a half hours or so to get everybody healed up. Okay. You go below deck. you take turns sleeping.
Starting point is 00:42:48 There's an obvious tension between you and Sakawachi's crew. There's always these like awkward moments like maybe one of you will be coming above deck and the other one will be there. And it's not like, oh, you go ahead. It's like this. No words are said as you try to pass by each other. It's weird. The next day comes, all of you feel a little bit more rested, your condition stupefied and stuff, let's go away, we'll say. And
Starting point is 00:43:32 And, uh, Willie Cooke says, I believe we should reach Jessad by nightfall. Um, I think, and I've spoken with my people, that we should try to rest there, resupply, restock, and take some time to learn about anything that might be going on in the world. Would that be amenable to all of you? Yes, yes. Could use a bit of civilization. It's been too long. I need to buy rations oh I forgot and a new man needs rations should definitely stop then for a new man are we stopping a new maria you'll be on northern new maria some fucking guns man yeah lasers and shit what the fuck shut down the gun store new ruler The new ruler of new Mary
Starting point is 00:44:34 They said it couldn't be done Heard his name is Lloyd Trevally No, I should rise of like the one day. I went to go see I wanted to go see Abraham Lincoln's birthplace in Kentucky. I was visiting my friend. And that one day, there was a one-day government shutdown and it was that day. And so the site was shut down. I've still never been. I wanted to go so bad. But that's what I'm picturing. It's like me with the Vonnegut Museum in Indy. We go to Indy every year and every year it's like, oh, we're renovating oh yeah it's like yeah it was like there's some bicameral kind of dispute happening in the numeric legislature one day I could throw all
Starting point is 00:45:12 the other gun stores so yeah who says you have a constitutional crisis that's a constitutional we'll find out when we get there. By nightfall you should arrive. Is there anything you guys wanna do during the day here or you're just gonna take the time when you get to? I wanna speed through this awkwardness with as fast as possible. I wanna plan every minute. I wanna, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:45:40 I'm sure we've already kinda rolled on this stuff, but I wanna, how about an occultism role? And I'm going to use my scholarly recollection to... He's going to be reading. He's reading and he's trying to find any history of like subconscious domination, basically. So like being controlled without even knowing you're being controlled kind of thing. We're feeling like you have your own wits about you But you are actually already linked into something you don't know about so I'm thinking like occultism. Yeah, yeah Looking through old occult texts you brought with you on the journey. Yeah. All right. See using scholarly recollection
Starting point is 00:46:24 Natural one and a natural four. I hate myself. What's your bonus? Six. So 10, you get to take the better for scholar. You got 10. I'm gonna roll two dice to take the better. I'm gonna try modifier.
Starting point is 00:46:41 I'm gonna do 10. I'm gonna try to do that too. And I think with- You're holding the book upside down, brother. Yeah, no. It's like this. You just look at it, there's nothing in here. I think with Buggles-
Starting point is 00:46:50 Nothing. Can't make heads or tails of it. He's going to try, because he doesn't know that, like he does very little experience, it's very sheltered sort of upbringing and everything. He doesn't have a lot of knowledge in this area, but he thinks that the K'ulu Khan might... And so he's going to try to sort of meditate and like make contact consciously.
Starting point is 00:47:15 And so... With the K'ulu Khan? Yeah. To just try to ask him about if he knows anything about this. So I'm gonna do my own occultism role. Okay. Nope, natural one. Oh my gosh. Maybe bubbles can't see.
Starting point is 00:47:34 I will try as well. Maybe you have trouble connecting. Yeah. Have you tried to connect with- No, he's never done this before. Yeah, so maybe that's how it may manifest, it's like you're not, you're still not able to control that.
Starting point is 00:47:44 She's a guy. Natural two. Zephyr is just like, she's got a glass of wine in her hand. She's like, first of all, brother Ramias, your book is upside down. Here, let me help. It's not upside down. This does not have the information we need. 23. Oh, 23.
Starting point is 00:48:01 If only Pamaq were here. The Chronicler may have had more information. RIP. Oh, only palm aqua here chronicler. They've had more information. All right, P um I would say your sort of basic knowledge is you've heard of uh powerful magics that can dominate other people You've heard of very very powerful sorcerers and wizards or liches and whatnot that can make those spells last longer than they normally last. But to do what Brother Ramius is suggesting, suggesting to like subjugate a group for a long period of time where they have no memory of that experience,
Starting point is 00:48:40 it would have to be some very, very powerful, possibly even otherworldly magic. There's nothing in here about this. It's as if it's never happened before. As if... If indeed that is what's happening, that we are the first to ever experience it. Seems unlikely. In my research, everything has happened before to someone, somewhere. There must be some way of just not thinking about it correctly. Not identifying what's
Starting point is 00:49:05 happening by name. What about the spires and stuff like that? He is just using these hours and he keeps going into his memory of the hallucinating, the memory over and over and looking for details, trying to see, you know, is there like a society role or a society or even history? I think this history comes under society now, right? Yeah, I think he'll do a society role to try to determine if and again, use scholarly recollection because time has passed.
Starting point is 00:49:36 I can get my focus pulled back. That one is a twenty two. Come on, Ramoo. Twenty two. Anything in the description of these towers, any written history about the crown of the world, towers at the crown of the world, anything like that? You're a man of history, not just religion.
Starting point is 00:49:55 And you seem to recall there was a city that was built by Salman Karr, like before Earthfall. Sorry, Salman Karr, remind me. Yetis. Yetis. Like Seishu's friend that she- Yes, like we saw the mask, that mask we've been seeing.
Starting point is 00:50:20 Oh yeah. Seems connected to the mask as well, yeah, a lot of Yeti imagery. Your vague memory of this with 22 is that there was a city and there were a bunch of spires and it was like, I think it was called the Nameless Spires. And you don't remember how Earthfall affected this area, if at all. But you do remember this was at like the northern pole of Golarion, as Crown of the World, as Crown of the World gets.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Wow. All right. So, and then cross-referencing that with Elvish history, what we know about Elvish history and what we heard about the burial or the imprisonment of Osoyo. There's no mention in those chronicles or whatever They told us on Castrovel of the elves Working with yetis at all to accomplish this like they're they never met they just said they sealed it away in the crown of the world but they never said they sealed it away at the nameless spires or
Starting point is 00:51:19 You know with the help of the yetis or our yeti against the yeti's wishes extinct or something like right were they gone by then? Right. Just curious. I give you a good answer. Yeah, make the G.F. work. And make it truthful. We could have just went to the next day.
Starting point is 00:51:36 And not made up government. Instead, we'll make him go to work. If you've been reading about this and you're recalling your conversations that you had with the elves on Castorvel, you do remember them mentioning the Sovirian elves a lot. And your memory of what you've read in the histories about Sovirian elves, it's very vague. It seems like even elves living today in Galarian don't have a real memory of what or where
Starting point is 00:52:09 a Sovarian was. But it does seem to be all connected to a Soyo and this. So it's very possible that the Yetis were involved as well. But there's no document as connection. Yeah. At least you haven't read that yet It could have been incidental right like it could have just that's what happened in the crown of the world And oh, yeah, there were elves there, too
Starting point is 00:52:32 It's it's unclear what the actual connection is you you probably have read about the Morden spire elves As well and see you think maybe there's some connection between the Morden spire elves got the word spire in it But you you need to you need like a library to really spend some time in. Let's go fuck that tree again. Oh yeah. Remember that tree? Street guide.
Starting point is 00:52:53 Street guide. Let's go fuck that tree, learn everything you need to learn. While they're studying downstairs and all reading the book upside down until, until you come over Zephyr. Maybe you hear from upstairs music. I would like to do my musical accompaniment which is where when I play a song I magically have like multiple instruments join in
Starting point is 00:53:15 to influence the people that I'm playing to and I would like to do maybe like a performance check or a diplomacy check with Uli Cook and everybody upstairs just to try to get in their good graces again, to try to show that like, we're friends, we're here, we're together. So she sings, friendship on the best ship, all with you by my side.
Starting point is 00:53:46 And there's nowhere that I'd rather sit than with you friends in this life. Oh, friendship on the best ship, all with you. We got the idea. By my side. Just a sec. There's more verses. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:03 It goes on. Oh, it's still going on. It goes on. The bridge goes crazy. I bet, I bet. But yeah, so she's just kind of singing with them upstairs trying to like lighten this weird mood. And that's the only way she knows how, is through music. That'll do it. So she's just playing and you hear there's like a tambourine in the background and like there's a sound of a jug.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Hoo, hoo, hoo. And she's just like adding in this sort of jamboree. Love a good jug. Yeah, there's a good jug. Maybe they start off sort of looking at you hesitantly as they have been, not meanly, just kind of like, they're kind of scared. Yeah, it's tension.
Starting point is 00:54:37 But then maybe as it starts to take magical effect on them, they're smiling, maybe even bopping their heads. Then you stop, and that lingers, right? Maybe it's a lingering performance. It lingers with them, and their spirits seem to be a little bit warmer. But then you hear a voice, No Thought that your Music was meant to inspire courage For me it inspires diarrhea Hey Hubert miss you out there when we were fighting and protecting everybody on the ship It's not much help in a battle.
Starting point is 00:55:27 There are a few of us like that on board. Are you talking about me, Hubert? I can tell that's meant to be an insult. I'm not going to take it. I'm not going to feed into your little attitude. Little spiky mouse. I thought that we were cool. I thought we squashed our beef. I don't squash beef.
Starting point is 00:55:49 I eat it. It's not what that means. Listen, hey. I mean, that's a great quote. Die a bobble. Oh, Hubert. Listen, there's a lot going on. There's enough going on in my head and everybody's heads and this dream stuff.
Starting point is 00:56:11 I don't need you. I don't need you as an enemy. I'm not trying to make you mad. Good. I don't want to get angry. To anyone. Especially you. Is that a threat? No.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Not at all. Get the sense our friends may be going in a different direction. Heard them talking. Sakawatchi in them? Yeah. What'd you hear them say? Well, listen there. didn't understand every word. Hubert, what did they say?
Starting point is 00:56:49 These things. It got me thinking. If you and your friends are going one way, and they may be going another, the old Hubert will be forced to choose a side. Are you gonna choose their side? Aren't you strangers? You don't even know them.
Starting point is 00:57:14 I'm getting tired. Tired and my stomach hurts from listening to your song. So I'm gonna go lean over the deck and poop Hey, I don't Alright, um I'll just watch me. There's a toilet on the ship Hubert It's gonna lean over and worry about it. He just talks about like the cliffs of cash I've never actually seen him be angry. He talks all this smack rough waters out there He just talks all this smack rough waters out there Mean at least 60 to 70 percent of it comes back on deck
Starting point is 00:57:51 Yeah, we're moving through the wind man They probably won't even take him anyway gate goes downstairs and relays that information like Hubert's acting real strange saying he's gonna go off Sakawatchi he's gonna leave us that Sak watch he wants You can go off a sock watch you why sock watch you who said that's going to be with us They want to separate they want to go their own way you love Would you call me be right up Brother Ramis interrupted by this he comes on deck with a loaded crossbow. Oh! You're not going fucking anywhere.
Starting point is 00:58:30 Well, here's the hillside. Right, we'll talk about this later. You go up on deck. Let's go buy some guns. Yeah. We've been sailing for about a week. At this point, sun has now set. It's got to stink. It's got to stink.
Starting point is 00:58:45 And now it's even worse. Yeah, that's right. Oh, yeah, that's right. Steam coming up from the Lake of Misenvails. Poop all over the poop deck. Didn't all make it over. But sure enough, in this thick fog, the Mendevian coastline comes into view to the north. But it is the port city of Chesed to the south along the
Starting point is 00:59:06 Neumerian coastline that draws your attention and still seems so far away. Fans of glass cannon history may enjoy the Chesed sits where the Selin River empties into the Lake of Misen. That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. Now, the fog is still pretty thick, and it's night, so visibility is not great, as it has not been great the entire ride. But with the coastline coming in,
Starting point is 00:59:34 you see like little lights in the distance. They look like willow wisps floating there, floating in place beyond. So Uli Kuk starts to turn the boat in that direction. About another hour or so of rowing, all of you are probably on deck at this point gearing up to land and in the darkness up ahead one of those lights seems to be floating toward you. You've watched it for a while, maybe somebody noticed it, and sure enough that light is
Starting point is 01:00:11 just coming towards you, whereas all the other lights are just getting larger. This one is getting larger and coming towards you. And eventually out of the darkness and out of the fog, a small keel boat rose up to meet your ship. This is the light? This is like a light on the ship? Yeah, it's like a single lantern hanging on a pole. You see an older man standing next to the lantern and it looks like he has short white
Starting point is 01:00:39 hair, deep lines creasing his face, close cropped white beard, armored up, weapons. And he calls out from the boat in a greeting that almost sounds like a challenge. He says, that's quite far enough there, strangers. We are not accepting new boats in Chesed this evening. You may very well be fine people, but your ship looks like it was dragged from the bottom of the sea. We don't want to turn away the good and the just, but we don't want ships full of ghostly crew docking at our port either.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Really, this is for your own safety. Perhaps you keep sailing tonight. Agaday is a few days north in Mendev, or you can follow the current for another week or so into Ustalav, or even take the Selen south into the River Kingdoms. But Chesed's doors are closed this evening. And we'll be back right after this break
Starting point is 01:01:59 What do you do uh Buggles is gonna shout out. Sorry didn't catch your name, sir Captain Yodan dandridge Yo, Don, you're Don dandridge I I'm sorry. We're sorry to travel to you at this late hour There's some tensions I see but I hate to make this your problem But there's some tensions, I see. But I hate to make this your problem, but there's some rather awkward social situations happening on the boat right now, and I don't think we could last another couple of days. Six steps in. Sir, what he means to say is we're friendly folk. We just need some rations.
Starting point is 01:02:38 We've been traveling for almost two weeks. We're running low on supplies. I don't think we're gonna make it another week. Roll deception, it's only been a week. Oh. It's been a long week. We've been traveling for at least three months. Wait, before I step in to alleviate this deception,
Starting point is 01:02:58 would going to the other city he's suggesting, that be out of the way for us? Again, it would be like another week or so. I'll roll deception. Okay. She's, she's lost, she's forgetting. 26. It's only been a week.
Starting point is 01:03:13 26, oh, we're starving. We are hungry, though. I can't see your state from here in the darkness, but. We bring news. Of what? Skywatch. What of Skywatch? This is... It's a fine city.
Starting point is 01:03:27 Let us talk and we'll tell you. We'll tell you, I'm sure your chroniclers and scribes would have much to... We barely made it out. There's been strange news out of Skywatch. A city abandoned or something and you've come from there? All the more reason to be wary of you and what you bring to our fair city. Oh, so you're wary of us. I thought it was our ship that was the problem. No, it's any ship.
Starting point is 01:03:52 Any ship. Have you been getting, like, odd people coming lately? Having trouble? Maybe we can help? He's sacred. Somebody we're roll society. Uh, 19? Whoa. Nailed it. Ever since the end of the Mendevian Crusades,
Starting point is 01:04:22 you have heard that many of these poor towns in particular are wary of ghosts and lingering demons dressed in like wolves and sheep's clothing, looking to infect the towns that they have rebuilt. These people have rebuilt since the world wound closed. They're worried that like these demons that didn't get back in are still out here and they're like Pretending to be people to come and let us let us come in and then destroy these towns that they've spent all this time Trying to rebuild you feel like maybe if you can convince him or them
Starting point is 01:05:03 That you're not that that you're normal. You might be able to find a town that you can rest and recover and resupply it captain I understand your concerns after the crusade ended that we might not be what we seem. What do you know of the crusade? Oh, I know much. I'm a scholar, teacher at the Arcanarium. But all we want is to find food and shelter and perhaps spend a little bit of our coin in your fair city. Well, how may we prove our veracity?
Starting point is 01:05:26 Not with a bribe, I'll tell you that. I'm sure you have coin, but you have to understand, we are very wary of what evils may seep into our fair city. I understand. One of our, one of our, on our number is a man of the cloth. Yes, of course, and you are right to be protective of your harbor, especially from ghosts and demons.
Starting point is 01:05:47 I assure you this fine group here is nothing but flesh and bud folk. Flesh and bud. Flesh and bud. You have fresh bud on your butt. Fresh bud? No, I'm just kidding. I told you, no bribes. We're just fresh brother-amuses.
Starting point is 01:06:03 No, um. We're just dropping brother Ramius is eating the Flayleaf. We're just dropping in the sea. And Ramius is running low on Flayleaf and his like I'm looking forward to civilization was like I need to buy Flayleaf. And so he was like, he's intent to not go another week on this boat. He wants to get off. So he's going to, so yeah, he's going to say we're just flesh and blood folk on this boat. I assure you, I wear the symbol of Gruhasta and Brother Ramius of Latria from an abbey far
Starting point is 01:06:32 to the south. You can look at my books, my writings, and I assure you, we will open our ship for inspection and we will be here only a day or two before we move on. We simply need to resupply and we will keep moving. Gruhasta. I fought alongside many a man in the World Room, followers of Iomadei, many of them were, and her friends. I do not remember battling next to a follower of... What did you say, Gruhasta? Gruhasta. You can call him the Keeper. Yes, I understand.
Starting point is 01:07:07 We are not a particularly war-like following. Scholars, mainly, studyors of culture and history. Again, I could show you our books, open them to you so you could understand more about what our religion is. But yes, while we chronicle the war, while we keep great records on the brave souls
Starting point is 01:07:27 that gave their lives in that crusade and those crusades, I'm afraid that you would not have met a warrior of Gruhasta. We are a peaceful people." The clouds open up over the moonlight and light shines on the boat. And he says, I'm harboring a goblin on your ship. Harboring? He's just a boy. This is our friend. Where is that small voice coming from?
Starting point is 01:07:58 I hold Buggles up. Yes, this is Buggles. He's one of our number. Sorry, I was one speaking before. Hello? Hello there. Sorry, I was one speaking before. Hello? Hello there. Hello, Captain. You are friends, and not a captive, of these others.
Starting point is 01:08:11 No, no, these are my companions. They rescued me from captivity after a fashion, and we have been travelling together. We've been through many adventures. They are fine folk, and they have seen the good in me as well, I can assure you. And this who else? How many are you? We have members of the Immunuit. She's got a gun. What?
Starting point is 01:08:36 You have a gun? I kick Hubert overboard. No, no, he was saying- Real jokes to that one. You were overboard real jokes to that one You put your fix it's You make funny quips is immigration Full of guns here But it's the last place! Oh yeah. You're like, ah, just lighten the mood! With a... T.L.F. I just got my bag full of guns here.
Starting point is 01:09:08 Just kidding. Yeah, before you know it. He was saying, Numeria is known for its guns. He's never been... Not anymore! Not since... Lloyd Trevally took over. I wasn't aware. Who is this Lloyd Trevally?
Starting point is 01:09:24 Lloyd Trevally is a just ruler. Oh, we like him? Yes. Is he the new black sovereign? Yes, Lumiere is now gun free. He ran on that platform and lived up to it. On his first day signed an order no more guns ever. I've heard it's affecting the rest of the world. Staggered he was elected. Led by your shodding example. Not to mention future campaigns. I was saying.
Starting point is 01:09:52 Not to mention future campaigns. Are you planting a little seed there, Troll? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Second platform has to do with bards, but please continue I won't find many of them in Chessette They deported all the boards Control except to kill the musician get rid of all the entertainers Two parts to step plan Step please profit Two-part, two-step plan. What's step three? Or is there pan flute? You don't wanna know. Step three is prophet. No, we have members of the Immunuit tribe. We have Sakawatchi and then-
Starting point is 01:10:33 Which tribe? Immunuit. I wrote it down, hopefully, to help me phonetically. I thought you said Mandonuma. No. Who is that? Sakawatchi was, oh, that's a place. Sakawatchi was an Immunit. place. Sakawatchi was an eminent. What did I write down?
Starting point is 01:10:46 Arataki. Arataki. Oh, Arataki's on board. Yeah. You see he's starting to be convinced here somebody's going to do a dice roll here and you can add to that roll. Diplomacy. I like to do diplomacy.
Starting point is 01:11:02 If there is some sort of customs inspection, whatever we might need, whatever we need to do to make, to allay the concerns, the very real concerns of you and your people, we submit to it. We have no cargo of note. We carry nothing dangerous.
Starting point is 01:11:17 Please, we will submit to any inspection you need. I have a plus 10 diplomacy. I'm plus 11. Plus 11. Diplomacy, I have a plus 11. I'm plus 13. I'm untrained. Ooh. I'm plus 11. It's 11 diplomacy. I have a plus 11. I'm plus 13 Things that for the little harmless looking out to attempt to a Bugles, okay Zephyrs a little buzzed and her eyes are yellow 25 so plus two plus two that's crit
Starting point is 01:11:40 22 22 plus one plus three and then I I didn't roll feel like Zephyr's trying to lay low right now Okay, well, and you rolled a natural one. Yeah, I'll call it a 12 So they'll be able to lose one and we'll say okay so plus two again 23 Well, if you will submit to our thorough checks, no funny business. Suppose it would be unholy of me to leave you
Starting point is 01:12:20 far away from the port. No funny business. Thank you, Captain. We are most grateful. We are in your debt. If you would prefer, we can anchor offshore and ride on some sort of boat and tow to yours? No, that's fine. Your ship will need to be inspected. Very well.
Starting point is 01:12:39 And I would say, not as a threat, but as a warning. Well, you may take it as a threat but as a warning though you may take it as a threat Chess it is a city of Not only veterans of war but warriors preparing the eventual next war Should you prove to be false in any way? This will be the last city you ever see Understood captain. Yes, sir. Remarkable then, in a city preparing for war,
Starting point is 01:13:08 your new lord would outlaw your greatest weapon. Music. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft.
Starting point is 01:13:18 And then cut to the birds, slowly and then... Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Winds of change starts playing. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little...
Starting point is 01:13:25 You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little...
Starting point is 01:13:31 You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little...
Starting point is 01:13:38 You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... You're a little... It was originally called the Tipsy Willow. Oh, oh. Tipsy Willow. Now. Cute.
Starting point is 01:13:49 The Precious Jubilee. That's what Buggles wants to say. You scratch out Tipsy Willow. The Precious Jubilee. That's great. Precious Jubilee is most welcome, ma'am. You get... You get into four. All right, you Tipsy Willow.
Starting point is 01:14:03 And as you're sailing in, Saka-Wachi says, may I speak with you, Brother Ramius? Saka-Wachi says this? Yeah. Of course, yes. What is it, Saka-Wachi? And he's like, and his knee is shaking. Are you alright?
Starting point is 01:14:18 Yes, yes. Go on. Are you nervous about what we may? Well, these inspections, I'm not sure what they're going to be, um... You know, he said very thorough. I don't know what that means, and I'm nervous. Um... I... I was talking with the others, and, uh... We feel as if this would be a great opportunity for us to... Perhaps spend some time apart.
Starting point is 01:14:42 I don't want you or your people to take this the wrong way, but... It may be beneficial. We may find that this time apart. I don't want you or your people to take this the wrong way, but it may be beneficial. We may find that this time apart... Sakuhachi, we are of one mind and on one purpose here, and you are leading us to where we need to go. That said, I understand that there are tensions and I understand needing a break from each other after a long journey on a small boat. But how much time are you talking about here? Just like where we stay in different rooms or inns? Of course, yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:15:12 Parts of town. Would we leave together on the precious Jubilee? Perhaps. Sense motive. We're not there. It's just him, right? Exactly, he pulled me aside. Hearing the story later. Yeah, I'll scream out.
Starting point is 01:15:32 Perhaps. Perhaps. Sakuwachi, you can confide in me. If you wish to split our ways here. Give me your handkerchief, win him over. I will not continue. Oh, you're hanky. We're not there, guys, we can't help him.
Starting point is 01:15:45 I'm the voice in his head. Well, we can hear him sneezing from wherever we are. That's right. Brother Amius is just thinking like shit. All from behind me. Maybe we should room separately, they seem sick. Brother Amius. Maybe we should set some time up there.
Starting point is 01:15:56 Yeah, he's starting to think to suck, watch, he has the plague. Everybody has, all of the Arataki have a sore throat. All of you? Yes, ever since we left Skywatch. But yeah, if you all want to share beds. Oh, no, it's fine. So, I watch you.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Let us get some rest, I agree. We separate inns. Yes. Let's find different places to bed down and we'll speak tomorrow. Yes, and I will continue to consult the stars and as I have since the beginning, let them guide us.
Starting point is 01:16:25 Yes. And perhaps you as well. Please, we value your guidance. I know that things got difficult, especially when we were attacked by the hallucination. I assure you, this is not our wish. We do not wish to harm you or any of your friends, but you could help us a great deal in getting to where we need
Starting point is 01:16:46 to be to make sure this never happens again to anyone else. And where do you think that is? What are you asking me? Out of character? You said bring you where you need to be. To Sarkoris. To where this living god is. Right.
Starting point is 01:17:04 I'm gonna do God is. Right. I'm gonna do perception. Yeah, what the heck? On that bullshit. I hate bullshit. God damn it, Joe. I hate. 30. 30.
Starting point is 01:17:20 I mean, God damn it, Joe. God damn it, that was a really great roll. No, I got a 16. A seer such as Sakawachi, you know, is very in tune with what he believes, what he believes he reads from the stars. If there's any vibe you're getting right now with a 16 is that like maybe he's questioning how he originally read things. He thinks that he may have misinterpreted things and that misinterpretation may have included you.
Starting point is 01:17:50 Mm-hmm. And that's why the stars are punishing him. Yes. For bringing us to this place. Yeah. So it's just a cultural difference. It's a vibe that you're getting. You might not want to push. Yeah. I can't wait to talk to the talk to this. This is gonna be great radio Like it's gonna be great. I can't wait to like try to argue why we should go with this fucking loser Try to find a way to Fuck's gonna be great
Starting point is 01:18:20 Anyway, we'll submit to any inspections. They have does that happen do they go through the ship today? Yeah, we'll do to any inspections they have. Does that happen? Do they go through the ship? Do they? Yeah, we'll do the whole... Have any inspections. Have any inspections. They don't make you peace bond your weapons or anything, but they are. You're given warnings about the weapons everybody in town has. Might want to peace bond the hedgehog's mouth.
Starting point is 01:18:35 Yeah. Most dangerous thing on board. I'm going to use a, again, a scholarly recollection, a society role. I know things have changed in this town based on how close it is to a war zone and that now it is, you know, a lot of soldiers here. Brother Ramius wants to know if this is the kind of place where you can buy drugs or if it's going to be like very strictly like no drug policies. He's using his scholarly recollection.
Starting point is 01:19:04 After a conversation with that, like the captain, great. First thing he wants to know is, let me check my books. He's just thinking of things he says. He's not talking to anybody right now. He just wants to see if this is a dangerous place. Yeah, no, after the thorough cargo check. I said this is a holy place. Please assure me there's no places to buy drugs.
Starting point is 01:19:20 Yeah. So I will not even walk toward that exact address. If there are places where you can buy drugs. Towards that exact address. Point me and I will rid the world, me exactly our places where you can buy drugs that exact address point me And I will rid the world with your city of the scum Up to new I just got directions to there so I could stay away from there What is that for a little substance Yeah, no, I mean would you're all I rolled a
Starting point is 01:19:43 I rolled a 25. Alright, that's pretty good. So as opposed to the sense of- You know, you've probably read a lot of the history of this. This would be something that interested you, especially with demons walk to the earth and we went into hell to fight them in a way. Though the closure of the world wound has been a positive development for much of northern Avastan. The end of the Mendevian Crusades proved to be a mixed blessing for these port towns that
Starting point is 01:20:10 were close to the World Wound. The people that are coming through these towns now are ex-crusaders, benevolent druids, and descendants of old Sarkoris who have sort of made it their mission to try and restore the scar. Carpetbaggers. Carpetbaggers in a way, yeah. I don't know what that means. I don't think I ever knew what that term meant.
Starting point is 01:20:34 It was a post-Civil War, United States Civil War. It's a lot of people, northerners like coming down trying to kind of profiteer off the reconstruction that was going on. Got it. Yeah, so there are people there are carpetbaggers, but there are also people who like want to try and bring new life back to Sarkoris. It was a horrible wasteland during the world movement. Now it's been closed. These people want to go like reclaim the land and make it good again so that there'll be trade and common. This place is kind of a home base for this they'll go out on at exhibitions what's it called expeditions and then come back yeah a lot of these towns they'll come in and
Starting point is 01:21:13 do that so there are a lot of traders here you would think you can find those sort of goods here okay but there's probably a lot less hustle and bustle than there was you know pre-Mendebbi and Crusade. Okay. Great. So you get into town, you look for... And he'll, you know, can immediately tell everybody that they want to stay somewhere else. Sakawachi wishes to stay in another inn if possible, and I agreed. I thought we should get some time apart, but he does seem... Well, is Hubert going to stay with them or with us?
Starting point is 01:21:43 Hubert. Hubert. That's coming true. And by the way, as you're saying that, you see Sakawachi just turning and kind of like waving towards you as him and the other retards go off. Some rest. Sakawachi. Go off.
Starting point is 01:21:54 Badeniji. Meet for dinner? They just, they nod. Drink? They nod. Drink while you're there? Don't even. That's crazy how fast things change.
Starting point is 01:22:02 Seriously, turn. One bad dream. One bad dream. One ghost whale. And suddenly. One laser-eyed ghost whale. A ghost whale that we defeated. That dropped down star serpents onto the ship. Sorry. Did you feed those two?
Starting point is 01:22:13 Look, it goes deeper than this. It's not just one incident. I get the sense that Sakawatchi believes he may have misread his own fate. That we are fated to separate. That if we go together, it could cause more problems or more harm than good. I don't know, just something I picked up on.
Starting point is 01:22:36 Don't forget he is only a week removed from losing his betrothed as well. Yeah. We don't know quite how that relationship had evolved since they left their village, but that's weighing on him as well. I told him to get some rest and we would discuss it tomorrow. But they...
Starting point is 01:22:54 Oh, yes, I know. All right, let's find a bit. You get to an inn, and you also... Hubert's... Hubert, they are going to stay in another inn. We would love to have you with us if that's all right with you. Oh, you'd love that? Yes, Hubert.
Starting point is 01:23:07 Never been to one of your towns. Are they all like the other place? They're all very different from each other. We're going to have to learn as we go. Will navigating the streets be all dipsy wing-wong? Don't know what that means, but let me translate very clearly something that the captain said. Yes. This place is filled with warriors. Who? Warriors that will have no qualms about cutting any of us down.
Starting point is 01:23:35 Should we do something that seems out of line with their customary ways of moving about their life? So be on your best behavior, Hubert. Like, don't poop out in the open. Don't poop in the open. It's frowned upon. Use outhouses, toilets. Yeah. You'll learn the hard way.
Starting point is 01:23:51 Do not in sight of anyone, fuck a plant. That's... Yeah. That's considered... That's a bugaboo for these people. Most people. It's not their culture. Rocks also, right. The plant's unsafe. That's what you'reoo for these people. Most people. It's not their culture. Rocks also.
Starting point is 01:24:05 Right, the plant's unsafe. That's what you're worried about, my health. Because I'll sometime, I could wear protection. In general, probably don't touch nothing or no one. It's best if you don't speak to anyone but us. Anything else? Uh. Rock fucking.
Starting point is 01:24:22 Well, it's a rock. The rock's in private. I rock fucking well the rock Rocks in private the rock somewhere private rocks not alive bonds. I think I get it. All right. I'll be good I was worried about the rock was worried about chafing That bonds is looking out for you. You. Yeah. And so you make your way towards an inn.
Starting point is 01:24:51 Captain Jandruid says, if you need me, I'll be here. If I'm not here, ask my men where I went. Where is here? Right here in this little shack next to the docks. Thank you, Captain. I'm pointing directly at it. How do you not see this shack?
Starting point is 01:25:07 Sorry, I have a stiff neck. Why are you shaking? Nothing, I'm very tired. Goodbye. Right. Do you want directions? Yes, an inn. A nearby inn. You want to go to the same inn your friends went to?
Starting point is 01:25:19 Is there another option? Um... We can, for sure, if there is only one inn. Yeah, I sent them to the nice one. Send you to the- What is the cheapest in? The cheapest, that could be the wet mouse. The wet, yes, the wet mouse.
Starting point is 01:25:33 Oh, sounds charming. Yes, it's not. Well, it sounds like the wet mouse has a bar and I'm fated for a nightcap, so. Yes, I like the way you're thinking. Let's go. Well, we know, like we know like what you're going through, right? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:25:50 Yeah, so yeah, this is this is Buggles thinking. It's just like. We know what he needs. The cheapest bars likely are in. Yeah. They're being the worst part of town. And have the right of connections. All right, so you wet mouse walk towards the wet mouse and
Starting point is 01:26:12 There's a sign out front of just a drenched mouse. It looks like it's being tortured Horrible sign Welcoming Oh my god! What a horrible sign! Why would anyone stay here? It's welcoming. This is just so unnecessary. And this is really cruel. The T has fallen off the sign and now it just says the wee mouse. Oh.
Starting point is 01:26:35 Wee, no, it's just wee mouse. Wee mouse. Wee mouse. Wee mouse. All of us are the mouse. All of us are this horrible mouse. And we can't feel like that right now. Waterboarded by the constant stream of war.
Starting point is 01:26:47 Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. And you walk into the wee mouse. Pfft. There's a bunch of sailors and old salts in there drinking. It's late. It's late.
Starting point is 01:26:59 It's long past happy hour. There's a guy behind the bar. They were all giving you that I when you walk in, goblin, halfling, elf. No. Whatever. Honestly thought you were halfling. I remember you're a gnome as soon as you said it,
Starting point is 01:27:20 but somehow I forgot over a little. Porky pine, hedgehog. Gic, what did you see about getting us a room? Uh, eh, sure. Excuse me. He wipes his snot on his shirt, yeah. Gic does the same thing. I just wonder if we could get a few rooms here.
Starting point is 01:27:41 A few rooms? How many rooms do you need? Probably two, three. Two or three. What you got? Let me check my ledger. I cannot read. Let me get my wife.
Starting point is 01:28:01 Gigg looks back. It's already a fascinating encounter. This is a big, big guy. A little halfling woman comes over. She's like, I'll help with this. You're looking for rooms? I have two or three, which got available, depending on how much.
Starting point is 01:28:13 Would you want two or three? Two will do. I have five rooms available. Oh. Three of them I would not recommend. In that? Why? You know what?
Starting point is 01:28:24 Wait. How do you do that? Is there anyone staying in any of the rooms in the Sin Rite? Important question! Wait, are any rooms unavailable? You see a guy walk in, like, pulling a woman behind her who looks a little drunk, and he looks at her and she's like 17. She marks something. Like those. And he takes her upstairs. Gic nods knowingly.
Starting point is 01:28:50 I will take the two that you recommend slightly above the three. All right. And just those two. Yeah. All right. Great, you have coin. Of course, how much is it?
Starting point is 01:29:04 It'll be this much. And she writes a'll be this much and she writes a piece of paper And she reads slides across I think you'll find this reasonable I love it when you go to hotels and that's how you negotiate the rate It's the medieval version of a like name your price Will that price be sufficient? It will have to. Then let's not discuss numbers. She slides an amount. A discrete amount.
Starting point is 01:29:30 I'm quite sure what things cost in this world. Exactly. I'm sure you didn't read up on the Neumerian economy before we... It'll be six guns. I can turn them in for rooms. So this is the weaned out of the gun running in? And a brothel. So this is the wee mouse with a gun running in? And a brothel.
Starting point is 01:29:47 So much is happening here. If you enjoy your stay, be sure to leave a review about the wee mouse. You'll be in room 18, right next to those people that just went up, and room 309. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
Starting point is 01:30:01 Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Oh! That's an interesting number. That is a bit of a walk from 18. I should let you know. Do you have an elevator?
Starting point is 01:30:12 No, no, no. In fact, the floors are very uneven. Perfect. The torturous walk to 309. Fraught with danger. Thank you. We call it the gauntlet. There was one year
Starting point is 01:30:28 we were at Pies of Time. There was some issue with the block of rooms but we shared, it was Skid, me and Grant in one room and they eventually put us in a room that I swear was about as far from everybody else. It was like a mile walk. It was like a mile walk. It was like an outbuilding.
Starting point is 01:30:44 It was so far. It was like a mile walk. It was like a mile walk. It was in like an outbuilding. It's like, when you're in high school, like they just, they're expanding and they put like these outbuildings like out on the football field. Like that's where we were. It was like. It was the very, very last room.
Starting point is 01:30:54 Yeah. It took like 10 minutes to get there. Yeah, yeah, it was crazy. Thank you so much. And could we get some grub for me, my friend? Some drinks and some grub? I think the kitchen's about to close, but we can if you give you order quickly here And then she points to a sign with the food that's available. It goes over with the keys
Starting point is 01:31:12 Two rooms will have to split it all but you guys food we can order ASAP And thank you kick. Well, that's for and I will be an 18 and then Thank you, Kik. Zephyr and I will be in 18, and then. Zephyr and I will, Zephyr and I have 18, you guys have 309. How much did you pay? Just the right amount. Just writes on a piece of paper.
Starting point is 01:31:31 Exactly. Slides it to you. The exact amount they asked. We got a deal. Kik says, this much. And... Fair price for Numaria. Well done, Kik.
Starting point is 01:31:44 Yeah. We should put Gigg. Yeah. We should put in some orders fast. I'm hungry. Me too. All right. Why don't we all get the food and you can meet us in room 309, we'll eat there. Why wouldn't we eat down here?
Starting point is 01:31:59 Well, that's the reason we would host you. Would you take out Barnes? I think we should eat in the place where everyone's eating,'s we're already outcasts. We're getting weird looks I'm afraid of being waterboard. You want drinks too. Yes. Oh this Alright nothing for him drink for you No, I'm here and what and he have one for you is. Uh, as you're getting your food and your drinks, uh, a guy sitting at the table, he's like a little bit drunk, uh, he- he looks over and he looks at you, Ramius. Yes, sir. OHHH! OHHH! What? I thought I- I thought I'd never see you again! You've been eating pretty well it seems like.
Starting point is 01:32:45 Well what's going on you son of a bitch? Who are you? You've mistaken me for someone else. You don't know me, it's Marty! Marty Finchak! You almost dragged me out of business! Come on! At least you paid your tab before you left town. Otherwise I think you were trying to duck me and he's slapping you in the chest. Marty, I'm afraid you've got me mixed up with someone else.

Starting point is 01:33:32 Brother Ramious of Lotria What are you? Oh, you're a brother now? You changed your name? Marty, it's great to see you again Where is this place? The Pig and Pony Marty, it's great to see you again. Where is this place? There's a pig and pony up the street. Yes.
Starting point is 01:33:49 Gaius, you spent hours there. Oh, Gaius? And he just like stops. It freezes and he looks at the guy. The pig and pony. The pig and pony, yeah. Yes. Yes, we'll have to take you up on that. It's good to see you again, Marty. Hey! Would you give Dias and his friends...
