This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
Joe, do you remember when you were New Year's resolution?
I do, yes.
You know, I actually have it queued up here.
I want to play it back just because...
Just to really dig it in.
I can't do it justice.
I want to hear it straight out of the horse's mouth.
The party comes to grips with another brutal loss.
Pembroke awakens with a start in the very early morning light.
And must forge ahead in their journey.
All we ask is for you to save this world.
For even after all that's occurred.
The next day comes.
And it's time to depart and make your way towards Skelton.
The adventure continues.
Oh my god.
What are you doing?
Now. Scout The adventure continues Oh my god What are you doing? Now Happy New Year!
That was unenthusiastic.
But hey, it's 2018.
I'm Matthew, and this is the Glass Cannon Podcast.
I know a lot of you out there are probably pretty mad at me specifically.
Maybe, maybe not. But here I am
to absorb your fury, your hatred, your wrath. And I got to say, not just a few thank yous,
you know, not for nothing. I kid though, I kid. Anyway, I want to share a quick story with you
all. So over the break, I was down in the mountains of Virginia and the impossible happened. My wife played Pathfinder. It took a lot of convincing and
not from me, but from her brother, my brother-in-law, who requested a Pathfinder scenario
as a Christmas gift. So I, of course, obliged. And so we got my whole, all my in-laws to get
in there and most of whom are GCP listeners,
and we played a Pathfinder scenario together. It was epic. And the eye rolls and the insults
about my terrible voice acting flew fast and hard, but still, we had a great time,
and everyone jumped in with little to no fear of embarrassing themselves, and we had a blast, so that was great.
But, throughout, there was something waiting.
A ranger with a knife in his neck, waiting for the resolution of his story.
So, I don't want to get in the way of that.
So here it is, episode 137.
Welcome to the first episode of the Glass Cannon Podcast for 2018!
Happy New Year, everybody!
Happy New Year!
Who's got the champagne? Anybody?
Yeah!
We're up at the champagne room, motherfuckers!
Oh, we sure are.
You know, I was listening on the walk over here in the snow to episode 84, Heads Them Off at the Pass, which was our first episode of 2017, January 3rd, I think.
And we went around and we did New Year's resolutions.
Joe, do you remember what your New Year's resolution was?
I do.
Yes.
You know, I actually have it queued up here.
I want to play it back just because... Just to really dig it in.
I can't do it justice.
I want to hear it straight out of the horse's mouth.
Joe, you got any...
I guess it's definitely not not drinking at sessions.
That's not your...
I have a full one to start this one off.
Hey, it's New Year's, man.
I'm off.
I'm fucking off.
No, what do you got?
Anything good?
I don't think i understood the
assignment i had an actual serious pathfinder new year's resolution what is it i to use a
coaster on my nice table that's true i want to say that i i love sir willamette i love him
i think he's fantastic i do too but my new year's resolution is to bring Lork back. Oh!
I'm just telling you.
Wow.
I want Lork back. You're not just telling me.
You're telling thousands and thousands of people.
I'm just saying what I want.
They know it's out of my control, but it's partially under my control.
Because I can lean on you, and I'm going to keep leaning on you until it happens.
Interesting.
Wow.
And I love Sir Willamette.
I mean, more than many characters I've created right now.
Be careful what you wish for when next week you find Lork's corpse.
Brought him back.
Wouldn't be the first person whose New Year's resolution failed.
Only lasts in a week.
There it is, Joe.
Were we ever that young?
Remember we used to have to worry about getting shit from Troy all the time about what was on his tables.
Now we don't have to worry about that anymore.
Now I have these shitty plastic ones that are ours and ours forever.
We own them outright.
My New Year's resolution should have been to never record at Troy's again.
Well, Joe, I said be careful what you wish for, but you did get to bring him back for episode 100.
He was useful in that.
And then 135.
Yeah.
You got it.
So basically what I'm trying to say is you're welcome.
Yeah.
Thank you very much for making that happen.
Grant, your New Year's resolution, do you remember what it was?
Your Pathfinder New Year's resolution.
I have no idea.
It had to do with love.
It was like I just want to spread the love and spread Pathfinder love
and be in love.
It wasn't really specific.
What a fucking lie that was.
No, I think we've done it.
I did the Dallas
Lone Star meetup. That's true. We spread some love.
We got to meet some people. We got to
start some relationships. Hopefully they'll get
together and play some Pathfinder.
Yeah. Spreading the love.
So you succeeded.
So that's two successes.
Matthew, do you remember yours?
No.
It was to not make a mistake with a character for 50 episodes straight,
like you did with Della and Spell Combat.
I think I'm good so far.
It was very convoluted, yeah.
I mean, yes, except for the fact that Feyraz's first spell was Mudball,
which is a goblin-only spell and gets a reflex save.
So you really set off on the wrong foot.
But you know what?
We knew that an episode later.
That's true.
So resolution passed.
All right.
And Skid, do you remember yours?
We've really lowered our bar.
I believe it was to watch the movie Pathfinder.
Yes, the 2007 film Pathfinder every single day of 2017.
Yes.
How far did you make it?
I still have not seen the movie once.
What were you doing all year? I don't know.
I can still watch it tonight.
I'll probably go
I forgot I was going to do that. I'll watch that tonight.
Fail. One fail.
And mine, of course, was to give out more bottle caps
and I succeeded because I gave out
tons of bottle caps to all
of our Patreon subscribers.
I'm just here to cheer them up.
Thanks, everybody, for helping me with my resolution.
You know what, though?
I do have some bottle caps to give right off the top.
There was so much happening in that last episode
that I didn't even have a moment to give.
Obviously, I gave Skid one.
But Grant, bottle cap for you, and Joe, bottle cap for you.
Matthew, I can't give you a bottle cap because you are a filthy character, PC versus PC murderer.
But don't worry.
You might get one soon.
But yeah, you both get bottle caps.
All right.
I thought I was filling a gap.
Well, that's what you get for going rogue like that and murdering another PC without clearing it or discussing it with any of us.
I mean, that's hardly
bottle cap worthy, Matthew. Literally no one.
Sorry, Troy, you're kind of taking the easy way out here.
What did Joe and I win the bottle caps
for? We want some effulgent
praise. For you, it was your magnificent
portrayal of Orpheus, bringing
him back. A character that everybody
wanted to see again, only got to see in a
three-part
episode 100, to bring him
back and not miss a step
jumping right into that maniac.
It was great. And just the way you played it, because
Joe didn't have any idea what he was going
to run into. And so he came into
that being like, I'm so happy to
talk to your office. And you and I had already
talked, like, I want you to kill
him. If he kills you,
I have things for that, but I want you to go to combat want you if he kills you i have things for that but i
want you to go to combat and you just kept drawing it out of him and insulting him so bottle cap i
think we uh in our emails i said oh so like darth vader seeing luke on on dagobah right exactly like
troy wrote back was like we've never been more in sync
i've never loved you more and then joe just your portrayal of Lork going through that, you know, the vision quest when he was, like, really druggie.
I like the way you did that and how you were kind of antagonistic with Farazza about the Chosen One.
And then, of course, just taking it.
Do you regret that choice?
I did not know that she was a murderer at the time.
But you took it on the chin and you went with everything.
It reminded me of the – and this isn't a good example, but I just want to bring it up.
That G.I. Joe episode that was like a made-for-TV movie where Cobra Commander is blind.
Oh, he's blind with Don Johnson.
Don Johnson plays Duke's brother in that?
Yeah, he's like a – just in that film.
Yeah.
I think it's Roadblock that's carrying in that film. I think it's Roadblock
that's carrying Cobra Commandant.
Cobra Commandant is good.
Yeah, he's helpless
for a while, and he joins
up with the Joes. It's so good.
That was a good show, man. It's not a
perfect example, Joe.
I'm still waiting to see
how this connects.
It's just the way that you...
Our touchstones are Hasbro vehicles
I just wanted to talk about that episode
Also I'm 90% sure
That's the second time we've talked about that episode
Really?
It's a phenomenal episode
He turns into a snake
Because it goes up against Serpentor
Write in and tell us unless I'm crazy
Skid jumps in and he's like
And Don Johnson played the brother.
I'm telling you, it's come up before.
I can't remember in what context.
Well, yeah, that's what the connection was.
It's G.I. Joe and your name is Joe.
So it works.
All right.
Follow up for me.
Here we are, episode 136, first of the year.
I kind of want to hear your new resolutions for the new year, but we've already, we've wasted too much time.
We need to get into this.
People have been waiting all week to know what the hell is going on.
Unless you're listening to this in the future and you're binging episodes
and you finally catch up, then you can just listen straight from 135 to 136.
You guys know how that works.
So we're not going to waste any more time is what I'm saying.
We're just going to jump right in.
Joe, do you have anything you want to say to me or to anyone at the table?
You look okay.
Yeah, I am okay.
You had a nice Christmas.
It was – I've had better.
Okay.
No, I was sad about the whole thing, but now I am not so much.
I am okay.
I'm good to go.
Okay.
I have been focusing on story and good story, and I really love, love the redemption or death line.
Never thought that it would be death.
Really, I never did.
And you have to say that that is really cool when that happens in a story.
When it was right in front of you the whole time and you never saw it coming.
And then it's just like, bang, it happens.
It sucks when it happens to you, but it's a good story, I feel like.
And I love the way it was explained at the very end of last week's episode, which I've since re-listened to multiple times while sobbing
and just shoving my face with Christmas cookies.
No, I've come around on it, and, you know, I'm looking forward.
I'm looking forward.
I mean, there's a lot to happen with Sir Will.
There's a lot to happen with Highbury and that whole thing,
so I'm excited for that aspect of the story.
Cool.
Just make sure you have a backup character, because Sir Will probably won't last much
longer.
Well, as you know, I do, and it's exciting.
I'm excited about that idea, too.
All right.
Well, good.
You look more upset than you're sounding.
He is red.
You're like a bright red right now.
Are you embarrassed, Joe?
I'm a little down.
Are you embarrassed that I'm talking about this?
You've been drinking.
You've been drinking.
Not yet. You're a nutty Irishman. What's in that water bottle? It I'm a little down. You're embarrassed that I'm talking about this. You've been drinking. You've been drinking. Not yet.
You're a nutty Irishman.
What's in that water bottle?
It's 10 a.m.
I don't start until 11 a.m.
Atta boy.
All right.
Let's just jump right in.
Where is he going to go with this?
Where is he going to go?
Definitely not stalling.
to go with this. Where is he going to go?
Definitely not stalling.
Imagine a windswept
desert landscape.
Slowly,
the swirling
sands in the air begin to clear
and you see huge
monuments and other
large structures coming
into view. At first
they look to be rather majestic
as they tower over the sand dunes
and random patches of desert plant life.
Upon further inspection, though,
you see that the monuments are dilapidated,
ravaged by time,
and all of the structures lie in ruins.
We close in on one of these structures and see a small expedition team
cowering in the shadow of a broken tower.
It's immediately apparent that a battle just took place.
Most of the group lies in tatters, covered in blood, nursing their wounds, some dead, some still clinging to life.
Two bodies, however, lie completely dead in the middle of the circle of survivors.
One looks to be a middle-aged Osirian man.
middle-aged Osirian man.
The expeditionary group, for the most part,
looks to be made up of men and women who come from north of the Inner Sea,
and this deceased man must have been their guide.
The other one is dressed all in black robes
with its face covered in scarves.
Two of the survivors rush up to the Osirianni man
to try and revive him.
They looked panicked, as if he's their only hope
of getting out of this expedition alive.
Another young man walks over to the person
dressed all in black robes.
Draped around the neck of this corpse
are symbols of grotesque demon mouths
and dark, clearly very evil symbols
all on its robes.
The young man takes his walking stick
and pushes at the scarves around this cultist's head
to reveal the face of a dead half-fiend
who clearly just caught this party unawares
and left a number of them for dead.
Most importantly, the guide of this expedition.
Sands swirl over this scene.
It's night now, and probably a number of days later.
The group has nursed some of the injured people back
to health, while others have just succumbed to their wounds and died. Those few who are still
alive are all mostly sitting around a fire, and it's clear they have no idea where they are,
where to go, what to do. They're helpless. The young man with the walking stick is watching as two of the older
gentlemen in the group are pouring over a spell book covered in the same markings that were on
the cultists' robes. Another man rushes into the camp and goes up to the older men and just dumps armfuls of items that he foraged in the area nearby.
Flowers, animal parts, oils, stones, spell components.
The young man watches as these three men go through this process
of anointing the body of the fallen guide
and then begin chanting from the spell book.
This goes on for a long time.
Too long.
And soon, the young man sees
what looks like some sort of demon
forming in the air around the corpse
as the three men chant this spell.
When the young man sees the demon,
he stands up, helplessly holding his staff
in a defensive manner,
as if that's going to do anything.
A loud bang goes off,
and the three older men go flying backwards.
The demon disappears, and the campfire goes out.
There's a long pause.
Then a flame appears in the hand of the young man with the walking
stick. Lights up his face as he peers into the darkness ahead to see what happened. He
cautiously moves forward towards the ritual and sees a silhouette appearing up ahead.
He walks towards it. The flames, barely licking the palm of his hand, begin to light the face of the person before him.
It's the young Osirianni guide, no longer dead, staring back at the young man.
And then the young man's face changes into orifice with a hole where his heart was. And then it changes into Umlo with a
gaping knife wound in his chest. And then to Della with a caved-in chest from a warhammer. And then
to Lork with a slit across his neck covered in blood. And then it looks exactly like the young
man himself, who then reaches out to the real young man to strangle him.
And the young man screams in terror as Pembroke awakens.
With a start in the very early morning light,
surrounded by trees and the tents of the scone croix.
surrounded by trees and the tents of the Scone Qua.
Baron, you are on watch,
and you see Pembroke wake up with a start.
I walk directly over to Pembroke and make sure he's okay.
I say, my friend, are you having troubling dreams?
Yes.
Yes. Memories sometimes come back unbidden as I sleep.
I remembered something I saw in a land very far away.
It seemed somehow familiar. I don't know.
He looks up and says,
I'm all right, I'm all right.
Thank you for your concern.
Pats him on the shoulder.
Well, I always think that we can learn from the past,
so if anything you think could help us on our journey,
you let me know when you're ready.
Thank you.
Sir Will sleeps nearby.
Looks like a little baby.
You hear a low growl.
Scene changes now.
If you're watching this as a movie,
imagine the POV is very low to the ground
as some animal stalks its way up to a stone slab
bathed in patches of light
sneaking in from the tree canopy above.
The animal smells blood,
and as it creeps up to the head of the slab,
there's an enormous dry puddle of blood on the ground.
This predator follows the blood up the side of the slab and onto the slab itself, where a body lies, cold and dead.
It is the body of Lork Irontusk.
of Lork Irontusk.
His skin is like a bluish green,
as there has been massive blood loss from an artery right in his neck,
and rigor mortis has begun to set in.
A leopard jumps onto the slab
with Lork's body,
slowly climbs up to his head and sniffs at lork's neck
brinia's love blackened by fire with only the words my love still visible not brinia's love
as i said in excitement last week lays next to his head.
The leopard goes face to face with Lork's corpse and lets out another low growl and then hears someone approaching and jumps down into the brush.
Payraza El Cid walks into the clearing.
Blackout.
Oh, man.
All of a sudden, Lork, your eyes open.
And you see nothing but trees above you.
Light streaming in, hitting you on the face. You see nothing but trees above you. What?
Light streaming in, hitting you on the face.
And you feel very, very strange.
How dare you?
How dare you do this to me?
I cannot take this.
You better buckle up, buddy.
Wow.
Oh, my God.
What?
Feyraza walks into your view from, let's say, your left.
Hello, my friend.
We're going to get those hello, my friend t-shirts.
Hello, my friend.
Try to relax for a moment.
Just relax.
I must apologize for the brutality of what has occurred.
But sometimes this world is brutal.
But sometimes there is grace.
It occurs to me you have committed many crimes, my friend.
This is a fact, no?
And you are cursed.
You have deprived this world of its best hope for survival.
But it seems to me
that if this is true,
the world needs all the help it can get.
And this is no time to be making enemies.
Your curse, my friend, could end in your death, and you have died.
I do not know what is to happen now.
You say you are not a good man, but now balance has been restored.
I have found sometimes that to grow, you must first destroy.
And perhaps it is now appropriate to revise my earlier question, no?
Perhaps now I should ask, will you be a good man?
That's so good!
And now you get your bottle cap!
That's so good.
Wow.
I should admit, I have never engaged in this particular kind of magic before, and the process is a bit dodgy.
And she points to your right.
You look to your right, and you see your dead body.
What?
You see your dead body.
Oh, what the fuck is happening?
Awesome.
He's in complete
shock. He feels like he's still
in the fever dream, maybe, but it's day, right?
It's day? It's day, yeah.
It has taken some time.
But now, perhaps,
you should look at yourself.
And now
we get into some serious
mechanics
that are going to change the state of the GCP.
This is so exciting.
Matthew, what is happening?
Can you please enlighten Joe as to our master plan?
So after murdering Lork.
So that's not in the dream.
Nope, that really happened.
That really happened.
And it was Farazza that did dream. Nope, that really happened. That really happened. And it was Faraza that did it.
Yes.
The shaman...
So the animal really saw a dead body.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
And so do you.
All right.
I don't believe you, but continue.
When the shaman and his fellow Kwa people returned Argyr, he also slipped Brunia's love into Faraz's hand.
Huh.
And then, so Faraz murdered you,
and then cast a little spell called Reincarnate.
Oh!
Okay, yeah.
That's an interesting reaction.
Isn't that a really high-level spell?
Level four druid spell.
Wow.
Oh, wow.
All right. So the way this works basically it
takes a while it takes like an hour but the spell generates a new young adult body and if as long as
some part of the dead creature's body return remains you can move their consciousness into
the new body so it's like young lork it's Lork. But you have to roll on the table to see what kind of race.
Young Lork
in a new race.
Wow. I have never
done this before.
We've never had this in any of our games before, have we?
It's only a level 4 spell.
I mean, again, the spell is something
that goes back to, you know, Advanced
Dungeons & Dragons 1st Edition, but
I've never done it.
It was always scary
because, like, the table was insane.
Like, you could come back
as, like, a little fairy.
You could come back
as, like, a turtle.
It was crazy.
I was going to be mocked incessantly.
And I know the table
is more limited now
with the Pathfinder version.
Yeah, if you roll a natural one
on a D100,
you come back as a bugbear.
That would be awesome.
And what's 100?
GM's choice.
Oh, yeah.
Fairy.
So you guys didn't roll.
No.
Dude, we've got to do this live on air.
Oh, I should also mention you take two negative levels.
Yes.
So there's a little downside.
There was a downside.
Oh, my God.
Don't worry.
He's already—
You're clerical here, though.
Yeah, right.
Oh, my God. Don't worry.
You're clerical here.
Yeah, right.
Now, Matthew, what's that line about in the Paizo description that says, like, this may disrupt your original class because you're going to get new bonuses?
This is so fucking awesome.
My mind is going crazy right now with, like, the options.
I am so excited.
I cannot wait to see what happens.
I love the random element of it.
It's so cool! It's so random!
Oh my god. What does it say, Matthew, about
if this doesn't suit your class anymore?
What if it's a natural 100?
Do you become a giant? GM's choice.
So you could. Giant.
Giant fairy.
Well, here's one thing, while Matthew's
looking that up.
You had the middle-aged template on, right?
Yeah, yeah.
For Lork, you lose that now.
Yeah.
So the middle-aged template gave you a bonus to intelligence, wisdom, and charisma,
and a minus to strength X and con?
Yeah, minus one.
Okay, so now you're going to get all that back, but you won't get the minuses. So I'll lose a little wisdom, intelligence,
and charisma. That's awesome, because it makes
sense. It's like
he's not going to remember everything,
right, from his former life.
It might be a little skewed. Straight out of the spell.
It's like he does not remember all of it. A reincarnated
creature recalls the majority of
its former life and form. Right.
You know, this is
completely coincidentally
just in the past week my body
was reincarnated i i re-watched i re-watched uh alien resurrection oh which i had not seen in
years and years and years and years just because i was trying to do starfinder prep work you know
what i mean getting ideas and stuff with sci-fi stuff and that is like this idea of reincarnation
and like you're kind of there but kind of not.
You're kind of somebody different.
But there are memories that still – I was just thinking of –
It's neat.
When Spock comes back in Star Trek III where he's different for a while.
Like he's sort of him but sort of not.
Like it's that kind of thing too.
Until he gets the imprint of his personality.
He might have been McCoy.
Right. Wow. Yeah. It's that kind of thing, too. Until he gets the imprint of his personality, he might have melded with McCoy. Right.
Wow.
Yeah.
It's pretty badass.
So first off the bat, you're going to be stronger, more dexterous, and have more con.
A better ranger!
Provided you don't come back as a halfling.
Well, I do lose the wisdom bonuses, though.
You do lose the wisdom bonuses.
But if you make it to eighth level, you get an ability point bonus.
The line Troy is referencing says,
It's possible for the change in the subject's ability scores to make it difficult to pursue its previous character class.
If this is the case, the subject is advised to multiclass.
Just deal with it.
You think that sentence would end like, the GM can change.
It's like, deal with it.
So now I've thought about this a million ways.
Like, for story reasons, there are some choices on there that could be really
weird.
Like what? Besides Bugbear? Oh, come on.
Goblin Lord? That'd be so cool!
Oh, man! I'm the weird
of the better for you. Bugbear, Goblin.
Gnome. Gnome.
I mean, there are some really, really interesting choices.
So I will allow you to use
a bottle cap to roll twice and take
the better one. And by you, I mean, you can use the cap, but Matthew casts a spell, so Feyraza does the rolling.
Actually, Feyraza casts a spell, so Matthew does the rolling.
But who chooses what's the better result?
You can choose.
Yeah, me.
We'll leave it to the fans.
Put a vote online.
You would be the worst race by the way.
They want to torture me.
You had no idea we were going to do this.
I've taken the agency completely out of your hands,
although you did that when you left the game in episode 72.
So you can choose which one you want more.
I mean, there's a million different cool options.
I don't even, well, not a million.
There's like 10.
But I'm just thinking story-wise, what do we do?
I think we just, we roll. Oh, my God. Joe, how do you feel about this? I am, my story-wise. What do we do? I think we just, we roll.
Oh, my God.
Joe, how do you feel about this?
I am, my heart is pounding.
I am super, super nervous.
And if you're listening at home.
Mainly because I have to now role-play something totally different and way more complicated.
Yeah.
And remember, a lot of them are like 10%, 9% chances.
Some of them are 4%.
Some of them are only 1%.
Right. As in Bugbear and GM's Choice.
So I hope we roll something weird here.
It could be something weird.
But yeah, the weirder ones have a smaller chance.
Like Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf, I think those are the bread and butter ones.
You'll probably get one of those.
But yeah, if you think at home that we're not doing this live, we are doing this live.
And Joe's going to take it.
Do it live.
You don't have to do the ball cap, though. You can just take it. Do it live. Do it live. Do it live.
Do it live.
Do it live.
Do it live.
Do it live.
Do it live.
Do it live.
You don't have to do the bottle cap, though.
You can just take one, whatever it gets, if you want to save that cap.
Oh, so I have to spend the cap to get the roll twice.
Yeah.
And take the better.
And you can't spend multiple caps to roll four times.
But if I do spend the bottle cap now, I can roll both and take the better?
Sure.
Yeah.
I'll do that.
Okay.
I'll do that.
Because, yeah, if it's like...
Ready? Fuck bear! I'll do that. I'll do that. Because, yeah, if it's like...
Bugbear!
Get ready for two natural ones on a D100.
All right, Matthew. Oh, but you're going to roll.
Okay.
Matthew, do you want to roll two D100s?
Sure.
All right, let me give you...
Well, make sure they're far separated so you don't mix them up.
These are the Starfinder dice right here.
Perfect.
Starfinder D100.
I got to stand up for this.
Wait, no, don't roll them all together.
You have to see which ones go with which.
Do you want dice trays? Are they colored the same?
I colored mine. Here's a dice tray.
Yeah, let's do it for real. Oh my god, I'm so nervous.
And excited. And nervous.
Oh my god.
See you late.
Option one.
Orc.
Full orc. Wow, orc 98 on the die
wow
that one has a very small chance right
or elf
oh my god
they're both so good
those are great
holy shit the whole time I've been thinking
because it's a very high percentage chance
of human I'm thinking how interesting would that be?
Lork to explore his human side.
It never dawned on me.
Lork exploring his full-blown orc side.
It was a 4% chance I would roll orc.
Wow.
What are the numbers?
From what to what?
95 to 98.
Wow.
That's crazy.
So close to bugbear.
So close to GM's choice.
Or elf. I mean, you's Choice. Or Elf.
I mean, you want to talk mechanics?
Wow.
I mean, I don't even know Orc template.
It's in there.
What is an Elf?
Is it plus two to Dex?
Minus two to Khan.
Minus two to Khan and plus two to...
Intelligence, I believe.
Or Charisma, because they're beautiful.
I don't think it is.
I think Dex and Intelligence, I think. We're embarrassing ourselves. Yeah, Dex and Intelligence. I'm 99. I think Dex and Intelligence, I think.
We're embarrassing ourselves.
Yeah, Dex and Intelligence.
I'm 99% sure.
Dex and Intelligence.
Yeah.
Minus two to go.
Which would overcome...
You would get a three-point bump to your Dex if you go Elf.
You would gain points even losing your middle-aged template with Elf.
And what is it for Orc?
Orc?
I don't even know where that begins.
I've got it right here.
Plus four to Strength. Oh, it right here. Four to strength.
Oh, wow. Minus two
to intelligence, minus two to wisdom,
minus two to charisma.
Oh, man. So you're just a
killing machine. Yeah, it's a cool story, but it's
a no-brainer. Don't forget, though, you get
ferocity. You get full ferocity.
That's true.
You just keep going until he's permanently dead.
Oh, man! I think i am gonna go elf yeah
that is amazing oh my god oh my god he's gonna be like elf he's gonna be this like
six and a half foot tall like elf ranger that you have to recast him. You gotta cast him, yeah. I'll give you a week. Oh my god!
Wait, so what is...
I just want to...
What happens when you put them into Hero Lab?
Take off that middle-aged template,
put on Elf,
and I'll win.
Yeah, this has actually caught a while,
because how often do you do this in Hero Lab?
Just like, boom, switch the race button.
I'm just excited.
Right, eight levels in.
I'm excited to hear an Elf
with Lork's voice coming out of it.
Just another day in the woods.
What about his age?
Young adult.
Young adult body.
Adulthood is 110 years.
Wow.
110 years.
This is amazing.
Wow.
Don't do this now,
but you can do it between now and next week. If you want to take alternate racial traits for the elf, you're more than welcome to.
Oh, okay.
Oh, I didn't even think of that.
Yeah, because there are a ton of alternate racial traits.
This is, I had no idea this is what I would be doing this week.
Oh, my God.
You've got some homework, but I want to hear just kind of like the bread and butter.
What's your hit?
What's your this? What's your this?
What's your that?
All right.
Let's see what...
If this really throws...
If this breaks the system.
Let's see.
Your iPads are smoking.
All right.
Elf.
Plus two to dex.
Plus two intelligence.
More skill points.
Skill ranks are good for a ranger.
Sure.
Minus two to con.
So... And with two permanent negative levels. Alright, let's
see. You get plus two on perception.
That's right.
What do L5s see?
Yes.
Yeah, so, I mean, I still have to work a few
things out, but it looks like he's probably
going to have a 19 strength. Well, he's got
the belt. The belt of
giant strength. decks 10 con
14 intelligence 14 wisdom oh that's great charisma yeah that is that is a well-balanced
character yeah a con it's a really really high level character but i mean i have the belt of
giant strength plus four um oh no i'm sorry i would lose a point in those other things. So it's 13 intelligence, 13 wisdom.
Got it.
So I'll just have to sort of bring those things back.
So Lork had a lower intelligence, but the original Lork had a lower intelligence.
So that came up, but his wisdom went down.
So he's going to lose like his – he has those skirmisher tricks as a ranger.
His per day usage of that goes down.
Sounds like you're an elf from Staten Island that's really into gym tan laundry.
You're so strong and dexterous, but not very wise.
Well, you're going to have a fun week putting this character together.
Yeah, seriously.
I can't.
There's so much to do right now.
So getting back to the story, you look over, see your dead body, and then do you have a
Maybe he picks up his hand?
Pick up your hand and it's...
Yeah, he picks up his hand and it's like this elvish, long-fingered...
It's beautiful.
What does his voice sound like?
Yeah, yeah.
Is he all of a sudden going to talk like this?
I thought about that when I was prepping.
I'm like, is the voice the same?
I guess he has a new voice box.
You can figure it out.
Well, it's a young man's voice.
I mean, you're playing him with an old man's voice right that's true so you could have the same
his accent should be the same i need time to work on this yeah yeah this won't be your voice this
week won't be canon but next week i want to hear it we're also a radio show so maybe the voice is
fine yeah that's true uh all right so yeah he he yeah. So he'll sit up then, like just nervous reaction, sit up.
And he looks down and like, is his gear on?
No, his gear is not on, right?
It's on the other body.
Yeah.
So he's got just like –
He's naked.
Yeah.
He's naked.
Naked as the day he was born, which is today.
Yeah.
I do apologize.
I will practice some more, but it is not my first time.
What have you done?
What happened?
I have reincarnated you, my friend.
From the world around.
Yeah, I'm trying to, sorry, I'm just trying to think.
He's not going to have the same memories.
It's like, somebody's got to tell him about your son.
Yeah.
Your son is dead!
Where am I?
Where am I?
We are in the forest where you last remembered.
I do not know
all that you have seen during
this process, but
I will cop to my
participation in the end of it.
Who am I?
You are Lork Irontusk, my friend.
That has not changed.
Lork.
That sounds familiar.
Lork Irontusk.
Why?
I mean, I guess, I mean, almost racially,
he has like this affinity for the forest and the woods and everything.
So he kind of feels at home in a weird way.
He feels comfortable.
This is just so strange.
I don't even know where to start.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
Start.
And I'm nervous because I don't want to say anything that's going to be like canon or anything.
Right, right, right.
In terms of what he does and does not remember.
I don't want to say anything that's going to be like canon or anything.
Right, right, right.
In terms of what he does and does not remember.
I imagine you probably remember Feyraza sticking a dagger in your neck, and you see the hole in your body, your old body's neck.
You.
You stabbed my neck.
You were cursed, my friend.
I had very little choice.
Reincarnated from what?
From your half-orc self.
Half-orc?
Looks over.
Right.
I was
with the scorned qua.
They sent us into the forest
for you to learn about your curse.
I don't remember a curse.
When you were a child, you murdered the chosen one sent to restore balance to the world when
a great evil set upon it.
Since that day, you have been under what you called a murderer's curse.
It caused all of your friends and companions to suffer ill ends.
I don't.
I don't feel cursed.
Mo, you have died.
All right, so he'll sit up.
And how does the body feel?
I mean, does it feel really good?
It probably feels amazing.
Your knee is fine.
Your knee is completely fine.
Oh, right.
He doesn't have the bum knee anymore.
Your feet don't feel weird.
Yeah, you are.
I mean, you must feel lithe and nimble.
And springy.
You're not only, like, jumping into, like, a middle-aged, oft-injured man leaping suddenly into the body of a young man, but a young man who's going to live, like, 900 years.
I didn't even think of that.
It's like, well, not with Troy as DM.
That's a whole different thing.
Barring catastrophe.
Yes.
Oh, my God.
All right.
So, yeah, he'll jump off the table.
He's in a leaf loincloth.
The leaf loincloth comes free.
Well, he'll slowly walk over to the corpse.
Well, he'll slowly walk over to the corpse.
And seeing it, you know, he flashes back and he is seeing it closer.
And he begins to have these memories.
And he knows that – I will say that he knows clearly that he was a half-orc, that his name was Lork Irontusk. And that you stabbed him in the neck.
And that he is like an adventurer.
He knows this.
Beyond that, things are coming in piecemeal.
Play it however we're going to play it.
But the spell provides you with the majority.
Oh, true.
Yeah, yeah.
No, I don't think he's going to be a completely different person. But I would love it if it came over time.
If he saw things that made him realize something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I don't think he's going to be a completely different person. But I would love it if it came over time, if he saw things that made him realize something.
Yeah, exactly.
And recall the speech that Poudier's ghost told him, all those things.
Right.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
So that's the thing.
In re-listening to the episode last week, the things that I think that should be right on the top of his mind. Let's say like his most recent memory is in best shape and it's like he remembers Feyraza he doesn't remember the curse
he's not like putting it that together convenient exactly but then he is like he's remembering that
he must he's looking around at the trees and he's thinking that like that they're alive that they're these uh incredibly
old and wise beings and he's like thinking about rooting himself in the world and in the earth
and uh and he's thinking about about uh orfas and the the knowledge uh of you know of what he was meant to be and that he fell short.
He has this feeling like he fell short, but he also is feeling very vital
and looking around at the trees and the forest.
I mean, he's starting to feel very invigorated, I think,
and he just wants to, like, climb a tree.
He just wants to, like, run, you know?
Both of you roll a perception check i wonder what that score is
uh natural two still still lark what's your perception plus 20 i was gonna say i think
you're gonna pretty good perception i roll a natural one. Would you get there? Right now it's a 16.
16.
If I'm doing this right.
All right, so.
I'm sorry, 15.
Ferrazza, your head turns first, but a 15 is enough to hear a low growl coming from the bushes just outside of this little clearing.
We'll turn around.
Ferrazza turns as well. Farazza,
this is right up your alley.
A lean,
lithe
leopard
pads its way
out of the brush
towards you.
Snarling, teeth
bared.
And lays at the foot of the slab.
Huh.
Lork is going to go over to it.
He feels like a connection.
Oh.
Lork, you go over to it, and in a way, you feel like you've met this animal before.
He's going to squat down.
In a past life.
He hasn't been able to squat down properly on his haunches in decades.
He squats down.
A longer loincloth next time.
And he reaches a hand out toward the leopard.
And the leopard just nuzzles its head in your hand.
Wow.
As your new animal comes.
Oh, wow.
Amazing.
I thought that it was cool that you at least showed that I had told you.
You told me leopard like weeks, months ago. Months ago. I said i wanted to have the leopard would be next after barry went down and i we haven't talked about it really since yeah and i was like oh that's a cool way to show that
lorik's permanently dead like oh and there's his animal companion and then back off into the woods
oh it should be it should be a panther i mean they're basically the same animal but
then you'd be like uh yeah, I'm just trying to
play it
by the rules this time.
Please name it Leisure Suit Larry
the Leopard. Do you need a week
or did you have a name
ready to go from when you were thinking about it
before? I mean, there's a lot of pressure on you.
I know. I know. I think I have
a name. This shapes so
much of the show traditionally. So it's very important. I think I have a name. This shapes so much of the show traditionally.
So it's very important, Joe.
I think I have a good name.
We started with Ben Vereen.
Ben Vereen.
The Wolverine.
Hugely influential.
And then, of course, Barry Connick Jr.
Of course, Barry Connick Jr.
I feel like I should have asked you this before the show.
I know, you're very nervous.
But let's hear it, Joe.
I think I got it.
I think I got it. I think I got it
because I'm trying to stay
with a theme
and then also give you guys
ample opportunity
to have your jokes
and puns and such.
Is he going to be
a conspiracy theorist?
But I also wanted to sound,
I think what I like
about this name
is it sounds kind of fantasy
still.
Okay.
So,
her name.
Oh!
Oh, it's a lady leopard.
It's a lady leopard.
Her name is Cat Benatar.
Bravo!
Bravo!
Oh, that's fantastic.
Oh, my God.
I'm so happy right now.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
That's the best thing I've heard all week. Oh, my God. That's the best thing I've heard all week.
Oh, my God.
That's fantastic.
Benatar.
Benatar.
This way.
Cat Benatar.
Cat Benatar.
Oh, you know what?
You get your bottle cap back.
I've been holding onto that one for a while.
Wow.
You always surprise me, Jared.
Cat Benatar.
For the briefest of instances, I thought you were going to go Cat Stevens, and I was going to be very disappointed.
I also would have been very angry.
I had suggested that.
What was the other one I suggested?
Def Leopard.
Oh, that's good, too.
You suggested Leopard Nimoy.
Leopard Nimoy.
Oh, Leopard Nimoy is really good, too.
But I was committed from the first time I talked about having a leopard next that I wanted it to be a female animal.
Right.
A female animal companion, especially if it's a cat.
There's just something about female cats that are like just hunters and just badasses all around.
And I wanted to try that out.
I wish I hadn't known.
I'd say, all right, look.
All right, Joe, what do you got?
Hit me with your best shot. Exactly. I didn't know. I'd say, all right, look. All right, Joe, what do you got? Hit me with your best shot.
Exactly. I didn't know. We could have set it up.
We're going to set it up. So the other thing
is, and Skid, this goes to what you said. I had
mentioned to you, Troy, that I did
want it to be black.
A completely black leopard.
Oh, yeah. So it doesn't have the same coloring, but
it's a black leopard. A panther is
a black leopard. Okay, yeah.
So as long as the size is, because it's like a medium cat.
It's not a huge cat.
Right.
When you originally told me cat, you had texted me, and I was like, oh, cool, a house cat.
Actually, it's a black jaguar.
But anyway, it's fine.
It's fine.
Yeah, but it's a similar looking thing.
But now I never thought that he would be like an elf with a black leopard.
With a black leopard.
That's so cool.
Yeah, that's all.
You're Drist. You're Drist.
You're Drist O'Urden.
Drist.
Cat Benatar.
Cat Benatar.
If you have long blonde hair, too, you should basically start an 80s hair metal band.
You are the two sexiest animals on the planet.
An elf and a leopard.
I imagine.
What does your hair look like?
Do you think it's long white hair?
Is it blue?
What do you think?
Let's not commit to anything, but I like
long. I'm picturing long blonde hair.
Blonde. That was my first
image in my head was long blonde
hair. Screed. Yeah, yeah.
But a lot of it will depend on who you cast, too.
Right, right, right. We don't want someone
who looks weird with their hair dyed.
Actually, Skid, I just looked up. Black
panthers in Asia and Africa are leopards.
Oh. Those in the Americas are jaguars. Oh, okay. All right, cool. All right. I, I just looked up. Black panthers in Asia and Africa are leopards. Oh.
Those in the Americas are jaguars.
Oh, okay.
All right, cool.
All right.
I will say it was not my intention to become dritzed.
Well, too late.
Mine was zero, so.
Orc with a black leopard just didn't work as well.
No, no.
Oh, my God.
It's like a whole new game.
This is awesome.
Well, the leopard's also totally untrained at this point. Do you have to roll training and all that on him? Oh, my God. It's like a whole new game. This is awesome. Well, the leopard's also totally untrained at this point.
Do you have to roll training and all that on them?
Oh, yeah.
Well, that's what we have to figure out in terms of the rules, you know, what you're going to come up with.
Typically what we've done is as new animal companions have come in, we've given them limited tricks.
Right.
But more tricks than the last one.
But they might be different.
But then still have to keep training.
Right, right, right.
I think a leopard of this level can have like nine tricks or something.
So, you know, we have time to train.
Awesome.
At level seven, do leopards don't become large ever, do they?
No, no.
They go from small to medium.
There's a feat probably you can take where you put – is it bolster companion?
Yeah, I already have that.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, so this leopard is already a level seven leopard.
But when it's fully grown, it's medium size.
It's never large.
So cool.
So.
Yeah.
Cool.
So I imagine you remove the gear from your body.
Right.
And suit up in something completely inappropriate for an elf.
And then do you guys want to head back to –
Well, no.
He grabs the black arrow longbow.
Yeah.
And he's just like –
We're like kind of spinning it around.
And he's just like, this feels like home.
Yeah, yeah.
It just feels right.
Something feels right.
You see the sigil of the black arrow.
Oh, now I remember.
Yeah, yeah.
As soon as he sees the sigil of the black arrow, he's like, oh, it was a black arrow.
Yeah. So amazing. Yeah. Oh, my God. This needs to be Oh, now I remember. Yeah, yeah. As soon as he sees the sigil of the Black Arrow, he's like, oh, it was the Black Arrow. Yeah.
So amazing.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
This needs to be a movie.
I know.
I need to see it.
All right, so you...
Should we take the body?
You remove the clothes
and then who wants
to carry the body back?
Lork will.
Yeah.
Lork will, certainly.
He's strong enough.
Amazing.
Amazing.
This is the art I want to see. Yes. Is new Lork will. Lork will, certainly. He's strong enough. Amazing. Amazing! This is the art I want to see.
Yes!
Is new Lork, elvish Lork, carrying his dead body to see all the rest of his companions.
Like, what the fuck is going on?
That is going to be spectacular.
Talk about a vision quest.
He walks back out of the woods as an elf carrying his body.
Amazing!
Fry's like, I don't know what happened.
So, you guys make your way back.
Meanwhile, back at Sconeclaw Central, Sir Will, Baron, and Pembroke are waiting patiently.
They haven't had much contact with the Sconeclaw.
You don't feel unsafe, but they didn't roll out the red carpet for you.
Like, here's the food.
They did nothing.
They're just like, you stay here without your weapons.
All of a sudden, Feyraza walks out of the woods from behind Ohate's tent where she went.
And you see her.
And then behind her walks a beautiful, tall, elven man
with a black leopard by his side.
And the elf is carrying the dead body of Lork Irontusk.
What do you do?
Baron jolts out of his seat and says,
Who's that holding Lork?
Who are you?
It's...
It's me.
It's Lork.
I...
A Feyraza can explain.
And...
Let me explain, my friends.
And she explains, but she explains to Lork, to everybody.
Right.
It is our old friend Lork that has not changed.
Only his body has.
And as you all know, the nature of the world is to change.
Lark, do you remember everything?
Do you remember me?
Do you remember Pembroke?
Do you remember Sir Will?
I don't.
It's all a bit blurry.
I'm trying to...
to...
Baron, yes.
I remember you, Baron.
I... I'm Baron. I...
I'm sorry, I...
What did I do?
I abandoned you. I left you behind.
Why? Why would I do that?
You, uh, you had some learning to do.
And I think even though you may not know it yet,
you've learned not to fear death.
And now that you don't fear death,
there's nothing that can stand in our way.
Yes.
I can feel it.
I feel like I could take on the whole giant army myself.
But I really do need you, Baron.
He's going to look around and he recognizes Pembroke.
He does not recognize Sir Will, like barely at all.
He's like, he looks familiar, but your name, what is it?
Sir Willemette Keswick.
Oh, boy.
Yeah, exactly.
And yeah, he's a little fuzzy on that.
But he's like, where are we headed, Baron?
Where are we going?
We're headed to a village called Skeld if these skone qua will let us go.
I might have angered the elder by bringing in my magical handbangers into his boudoir.
But once we get to Skeld, we're going to check in, re-gear, and we're going up to Skilgard.
And is the shaman there or outside or anything?
Or are they in separate tents in another area?
At the moment, he's not present.
But as you come out and you guys are talking uh the tribe's people begin
joining you guys um pembroke you see this beautiful elf come in with the body of lark what
what is your reaction pembroke uh kind of struggles to his feet and like kind of limps over with his walking stick like looks in his eyes like
peers into him like kind of like larry david trying to detect a lie and he says uh yes there you are
oh that's so awesome that's so cool and he like can cool. And he like, and he sees, it's like,
and he gets this big smile and he says,
yes,
the curse which afflicted you,
shakes his head,
he's like,
I see no trace of it.
You are back.
You are,
I feel,
redeemed.
And he looks down at his body
and says,
it seems you are very lucky too.
Things could have gone very strangely had the fate not been with you.
But, uh,
I feel, I feel this is fated.
I feel,
I feel great, Pembroke.
I feel amazing.
I'm very envious.
Well done.
Well done, my friend.
Do be next, Feras.
I was going to say, Feras, you should kill him next.
Kill me now.
Take a ride on Brynjusla.
It should be a great adventure.
The sea of tribes, people, skunkwa, parts, and Wohate comes forward to see all of you.
And he just stands there in silence
looking at both Feraza and Elflork.
So Elflork is going to slowly walk over to him.
He's unarmed.
He's basically naked except for the uh loincloth of leaves and
so he wouldn't be too threatening or anything and he walks over to him and he
he he says He says, I have to thank you for your guidance and your willingness to let me go on this quest.
And he's kind of, he starts to smile and he's like looking at the trees and the life all around.
And he's like, we are all part of this great
world
and we all must
work together
to protect it from this
Volstice
it is
by far the most important
thing any of us can do
I know that now
and without you,
I don't think we would have
found the way.
We are in your debt.
And if there is anything
I can ever do for you,
or your tribe,
please don't ever hesitate
to ask.
Remember
the spirits that spoke to you on your journey.
Heed their words.
The spirits of your friends and your enemies will be with you for the rest of your life,
which, it seems to me right now, could be much longer than it was before.
Yes.
I've been given a great gift.
And I have many to thank.
But it begins with you and your people.
Your magic is very powerful and has changed my life forever.
All we ask in return
is for you and your friends
to save this world.
That's all.
Just save the world
Sounds like a bargain
What a bargain
I will
Give my life
To do exactly that
If that's what it takes
To save you and your people
From these giants
I feel like
I know How to I feel like I know
how to track them now.
I know where to find them.
And we're gonna hunt them.
We're gonna hunt them all down.
And bring a
light back to this world.
Sir Will's like,
Yeah!
Yeah!
All of you now have a home here with Isco and Qua.
If your travels ever take you through Bloodsworn Vale,
we will treat you as kinsmen.
And if you are to perish one day, we will help to guide your souls to the next life.
Oh, cool.
Wow.
But now we feast.
And that is big.
On Lork's body.
It is tradition.
Yeah.
Put him on the spit.
I was thinking like End of Return of the Jedi type feast.
So maybe you want to burn Lork's body as well.
Well, no.
I think he's going to bury the body in –
At sea.
Unless I'm mistaken.
At sea.
Oh, that's delightful.
No, in the style of Gorim.
He'll bury him.
Just like he did Benverine? Yeah. Just like he did Benverine. So He'll bury him. Just like he did Benverine?
Yeah, just like he did Benverine.
He'll bury him and
he will put a
he puts like a
weapon in the
mound. I can't believe we have the
only elf who worships Gorim in
the entirety of Galerion in our
party. This is insane. I wonder if
you will continue to worship Gorim. Yeah, I wonder that too.
I wonder that too. I mean, obviously...
Who does Feyraza worship?
Oh, an Osirian deity,
right? Osiris. That's right.
Oh, it's Osiris?
Wow. Okay. Cool.
I didn't know Osiris was
in the game. Yeah, it's straight out of Pathfinder.
I think, actually, I think he's not
going to worship Gorim. I think he's straight out of Pathfinder. I think, actually, I think he's not going to worship Gorim.
I think he's going to bury Lork's body as an homage to Gorim.
Bury the best.
And respectful.
Get it.
Exactly, to Gorim.
But when Feyraza said, like, will you be a good man?
I think that it's hard to, it's not exactly black and white, I know,
but it's hard to reconcile for me as a player the idea of just battling, killing, no matter what is the way to go.
I just don't know that it is.
And so I think he might be thinking differently about his approach to everything.
I don't want to make him a paladin, but there's got to be something other for this character than just mortal combat.
And you've got to remember, he said, heed the words of the spirits.
Orpheus told you when he was alive that you're not meant for Gorm.
Right.
Your whole idea of it is messed up.
Yep.
Orpheus still feels that way.
And he's showing up behind the fires at the feast, just like in Return of the Jedi, overlooking him.
As a blue ghost.
You look good as an elf, just like the sissy I thought you always were.
So yeah, you guys feast.
They give you alcohol that is much too strong.
Fresh meat.
Is it like mare's milk?
They're kind of like...
Yeah, they ferment like mare's milk.
Like whore's milk.
Let me retake that.
It's a family show.
Like horse milk. It's like what
Mongols do.
The traveling guys.
It's disgusting. Horse milk for everybody.
Fermented horse milk. Mix a little blood
in it.
And a happy new year.
Happy new year. Cup. They live forever. And a happy new year. Happy new year.
A cup of wassail.
So you guys get your stuff together.
Wohate pulls you aside, Lork, and cures one of your permanent negative levels.
Oh, wow.
Nice.
He has the power to do that and does so.
You now need to find probably a cleric and skelp or something.
I don't think you're going to find one in Skirgard to remove the other one from you.
Yeah.
It's very generous.
Oh, he's a cool dude.
Yeah.
The clerics in Skirgard might remove all of your levels from you forever.
Right.
One fell, great axe swoop.
One fell, great axe swoop.
And the next day comes, and it's time to depart and make your way towards Skelton.
Wow.
Okay, yeah. So he does all this burial.
Give me a second.
So he does, as he's preparing the body, he's taking everything and putting it on. So he's putting on like the quick runner shirt and the,
you know,
all of his other gear,
his new magical boots,
his,
his bow,
Gorm's thorn,
you know,
he's just putting all of this stuff on equipping.
But as he's going through this process,
he comes across a cloth that is stained with blood old cloth that is stained with blood
and he looks at it and he knows that it's of great value to him but he doesn't know why and he takes it and pockets it and he's like i'll have to think more
on that later and it's the cloth that he put on jason's neck and he was trying to get him to stop
bleeding um but he so he doesn't remember him right now it's like many many years ago
and as the days pass like slowly more and more memories are coming back to you.
But probably these, the big ones, you think those would be the ones that come back.
Those maybe take a little longer to catch up to your consciousness.
You remember what you ate yesterday, but you don't remember like losing your son.
Maybe you don't remember about Della yet unless they told you.
Maybe you forgot all about Della.
Yeah, I'm wondering if maybe it's like
with the removal of the
curse, he like forgets
Gormley. He forgets Barry
Connick Jr. You know what I mean? Like
right now. It's like so fresh.
It is. I hope Lork didn't hold on
to those bottles of the beer that
Barron's made him, because at some point you'll look into
your possessions and be like,
tell me, who's just son?
Yeah.
Like you might see that when we sit down at a campfire later.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, that's crazy.
So you walk through the forest or the veil, blood-sworn veil.
No more spirits visit you,
but you are surrounded by the spirits of the great war that happened here
between the Shawanti and the Corvosans, and all the wars that have taken place on this continent.
And five days or so pass, you guys are doing what you do,
You guys are doing what you do, and you see an almost sheer cliff wall rising up with what looks like a small city built atop it.
In addition to the numerous ramps and drawbridges leading up to the bluff atop which the city lies,
amongst several waterfalls falling over the face of the cliff, there are also a bunch of water-powered elevators leading up.
Oh, cool.
Oh, awesome.
Just leading up to the city of Skelf.
It makes me think of the way the Aerie is described in the book
more so than in the show on Game of Thrones.
They don't really go into the whole process of getting to the Aerie.
It's not a really big deal.
The baskets and everything.
Yeah, you go through Vale of Arryn,
you've got to take all the guides up.
It's not like that, but it just makes me think of that
like this city is super defensible
because it's impossible to get to
unless you go through these elevators and drawbridges.
And Lork, you recognize it right away
as the city of Skelp because you spent a fortnight here back in the day recovering from wounds suffered outside of Nirmathas when you and the Black Arrows traveled way far south of the Storval Plateau.
I remember this place. that you have, that you acquired in Minderhall's Valley
and the cathedral itself is still up to date.
This will most likely be the last breath of civilization
you will visit before heading to Skirgard.
And we'll see you next week.
Oh, yeah!
Woo!
Elf Lork!
Elf Lork, happy new year!
Elf Lork lives.
Long live Elf Lork. Elf Lork. And Elf Lork! Elf Lork! Happy New Year! Elf Lork lives. Long live Elf Lork.
And Elf Lork.
You can change your name to Elf Lork.
