Hey, how did your doctor's appointment go, by the way?
Did you ask about Rebelsis?
Actually, I'm seeing my doctor later today.
Did you say Rebelsis?
My dad's been talking about Rebelsis.
Rebelsis? Really?
Yeah, he says it's a pill that...
That's right!
Did you know it's also covered by most private insurance plans?
Well, I'll definitely be asking my doctor if Rebelsis is right for me.

This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
Stop creeping me out, Laier it's christmas man
a feeling of unease grips the heroes and again you wake up with this feeling that you're you're
not doing what you're supposed to be doing weakening their resolve pembroke are you all right
i don't know i feel as if I have had something taken away from me.
My mind is in a fog.
And foreshadowing their fate.
It is death that follows us. Death that seeks us.
But they must carry on.
Your ACs go down, your DCs of your spells go down, your range and your melee to hits.
Our HP goes down.
HP goes down.
No matter the consequence.
Jesus Christ, what a terrible situation we are in.
Look at the map!
The adventure continues.
Oh, God!
God damn it!
Merry Christmas!
Right now.
What's going on, everybody? Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everybody in Glass Cannon Nation. Joe here, and I just want to say that it is an honor, a privilege, to get to wish all of you a Merry Christmas this year on Christmas Day.
In the four years since we've been doing this show over the holiday season,
an episode has never once fallen on Christmas. But today, today's the day. It is a magical day.
And I assure you, this week's episode is filled with magic. It's a long one, too. We went long to celebrate Christmas Day because, honestly, you guys earned it. From the incredible,
Honestly, you guys earned it.
From the incredible original Christmas album, A Glass Cannon Critmas, we received from our good friends Alan and Pedro in Kentucky.
Also, Todd won out in Australia, throwing in on that one.
To the Christmas cards and gifts that we received in the mail from you guys.
Jeff in Colorado, Emery in Kauai sent us cookies.
It was amazing.
Our friends at the Wooden Legs Brewery in South Dakota.
The list just goes on and on.
You guys are so incredibly generous, and we are so lucky to have such an amazing Glass Cannon family to share the holidays with.
And while I am so excited for you guys to get to this week's ep, I do quickly want to
address something that honestly has been bothering me.
To say that things have been a little hectic around Glass Cannon HQ over the last several months would be a gross understatement.
Between the Pathfinder playtest and its associated twitches, the Glass Cannon live experience that we started out in L.A.
live experience that we started out in LA and then continued in Philly and then planned five dates for in 2019 to the trials and tribulations of shipping and fulfilling Patreon orders and
merchandise orders, all of which we do ourselves. And then also, obviously, our personal lives.
Major changes in our personal lives have rocked our availability and our schedules.
Major changes in our personal lives have rocked our availability and our schedules.
And so some things had to be sacrificed.
Cannon fodder ends up on hiatus. And unfortunately, blog posts that I love, like we are stupid and updates and interaction on Patreon kind of slow to a halt.
to a halt. And when all of that slowed down and then stopped, I think that some of you guys out there thought that we might be slowing down a little bit, doing a little bit less, or just
getting a little burnout. And I am here to tell you that that is 100% not the case. We love what we are doing here.
And we're so profoundly lucky to be doing it in the first place that the thought of
slowing down has never entered any discussions that we have had about the future of the network.
In fact, we are only ramping up to do even more in 2019.
More to come on that very soon. From all of us at the Glass Cannon Network,
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of Glass Cannon Nation. We love you guys,
and we can't wait to bring you along for the ride in 2019. And now, the Glass Cannon Podcast,
episode 187 Merry Christmas everybody
it is shocking to me absolutely shocking that this is the fourth year we have been doing
episodes the week of Christmas and in fact today's episode releases On Christmas Day Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Oh my goodness
Merry Christmas everybody
I can't believe it
It's Christmas Day
In honor of Christmas Day
I'm gonna have a cold one
Well you know what
Before you open that
I have a very special beer here
That was given to us
By our good friends
At Wooden Legs Brewing Company
What's up Seth?
In Brookings, South Dakota
This is their bourbon barrel agedaged 2018 Pogonophilia.
Pogonophilia, a Russian imperial stout.
And Skid, you said Pogonophilia is?
Yeah, Pogonophilia, I believe, is the attraction to beards.
Right, and there is a bearded gentleman on the label.
And it's a great beard, too.
Yeah, this one doesn't joke around.
It sits at 11.5%, so I'm going to pour a gentleman's eight fingers into my cup and then just pass it around.
I respectfully recommend zero for Grant.
I think that's smart.
Just for the quality of the show.
Don't you want your back to be cracked later when I pick you up?
Oh, my God.
He almost re-dislocated one of my shoulders
can you taste the first just to make sure you don't we don't automatically just fall over
dead drunk 11 it's not too bad you don't want you want to drink a 12 14 ounces of 11 but uh
let me give it a taste here
oh my god oh my god that is smooth as christmas morning holy shit that's good
oh my god would you like to cheer i had to calm down i handed the bottle to grant and he grabbed
it and almost spilled it all over shut up he crushed the glass in his hand i love i love
beards i love beards oh man there goes that's a That's a pint glass At Grant's Port
Cheers fellas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everybody
To many more
To many more
Glass can Christmases
I brought
Troy never drinks
A second glass
Of Pogonophilia at home
It's the holiday skid
Wow
I didn't get you anything
I should have been
Like the Wizard of Oz
Matthew I
I bought you a heart
Grant
A brain
Skid
Courage And Joe You're kicked out of the show Go home This beer is amazing Wizard of Oz, Matthew, I bought you a heart. Grant, a brain, skin, courage.
And Joe, you're kicked out of the show.
Go home.
This beer is amazing. Isn't this good?
It's incredible.
You know, sometimes with the bourbon barrel aging,
it can be a little too alcoholic.
It's too much.
It's like, if I want a glass of bourbon,
I'll go drink bourbon.
But no, this marries really well.
I mean, this is why people listen to the show,
especially on Christmas Day.
What podcast do you think you're recording now?
I'm going to turn this back into my beer pressure
That was his plan all along
Depends on it
Well you woke up
On this next morning with a lovely Christmas
Present a minus three penalty
To all of your ability
Scores
What a way to
Hey you're going to level up
And then just rip the rug right out from under you.
I was trying to decide what order to do it.
And I made my decision.
You did it in the Troy order.
Yeah, there was literally no reaction.
Like, the music hits, obviously, if you listen to the episode.
But in the room, you were just like, funny joke, Troy.
Yeah.
And there's just no sign.
That was it.
Well, it's just that I was expecting an official Red Ryder carbine action 200 shot range model
air rifle.
Great. You'll shoot your eye out.
Especially with a misfire chance of one to nine.
Oh, God.
I'm dead.
Yeah, that was, you know, I knew you guys had that one in hand.
Obviously, I wish you weren't able to break that enchantment.
And you constantly had a minus, a one to nine misfire in your gun because then you wouldn't be so OP.
But at the end of the day, hopefully a minus three to all your ability scores
will start pushing you in a direction where I will at least kill three of you
in this damn dungeon.
It's brutal.
But hey, four bears, you leveled up, buddy.
Sure did, good buddy.
Well, what did they win?
Well, why don't we roll some HP?
You want to roll some HP?
First.
Was that D4?
That's a D8.
D8, okay.
Come on.
Bet you not.
Four bears.
Bet you it's going to be bad.
Boo.
Wow, nice.
Merry Christmas to the bears.
What'd you get?
Natty 8.
I also got a Natty 8.
Oh, my God.
I'm so sorry.
Grant roll.
We got to roll again.
Luckily, you don't play that way.
I do, starting on Christmas 2018, and you know that. I told you.
Yeah, I rolled an 8 as well, buddy.
So do I get 16 now? I think that's
the Troy roll. I think that's how it works. Yeah.
No, definitely not.
Oh, that's so exciting. That is
my first 8 since
third level. That's a good feeling, man.
It just makes all those
2s and 1s kind of
fade away. And 12 is obviously, it's just a huge level.
I think it's a huge level for a lot of classes.
You get an ability score bonus.
What'd you put yours in, Joe?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I put it into wisdom, Troy.
That's a nice choice.
Why, when you could put it into strength?
That's right, haters.
I got, I slept.
Fucking mid-mancer.
I got, I slept.
Fucking mid-maxer.
I slept and just was wracked with the feelings of my ancestors racing into my body to prevent this damage saying like, you cannot die.
You must carry on our mission.
You must be more wise.
You must be more wise. And knowing the threats that he was facing, his ancestors have imbued him with more wisdom
to continue his journey and his mission as a speaker of the past shaman.
So in addition to getting an ability point, he also then, as a result, unlocks sixth level
spells, which is exciting.
All their DCs are immediately lowered.
Yep.
They're all garbage and go down even lower now
And
He gets a new hex
And a new revelation
So
Pretty awesome
So he is
His new hex is
I took the flight hex
So not only can he now
Fly for 12 minutes a day,
just as a standard action,
he can do it in one minute increments.
That's great fly.
But he also now has automatic feather fall all the time.
Just at will.
Yeah.
I feel like the fly hex is a no brainer.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Maybe it's not the first text you take.
What was Gormley's first text?
Fly.
Let's fly.
Yeah.
It's got a second or third. Maybe it is the first text you take? What was Gormley's first text? Flight. Flight. Let's fly, yeah. It's got to be the second or third.
Maybe it is the first text you take.
I think Evil Eye is the first text you take.
Yeah.
I think I had both Evil Eye and Flight.
I think you got Flight at third level, I think.
No, I was able to levitate at third level.
I had Flight.
Oh, that's right.
I had the feather fall.
I just feel like if you have the ability to fly or turn invisible, you take it.
Yes.
Those are things that will keep you alive.
I hate to break it to you, but you're going to die now because the last person on this podcast had a fly hex and it killed her.
That's right.
During the fly hex.
Yep.
It killed her.
Good night, Joe.
Ooh.
I think our ruling's pretty clear on what happens when you die while flying.
I'll have to listen to 50 again.
We actually have case law on this.
We have.
Go back. It's our Plessy v. Ferguson. Plessy v actually have case law on this. We have. Go back.
It's our Plessy v. Ferguson.
Plessy v. Ferguson.
It's our Dragonfly v. Gormley.
I don't think we actually have talked about this, but Joe and I had an extensive discussion about this.
And the conclusion was, while we got the end result right, which is death, that we actually arrived at it wrongly.
Joe and I drunkenly stood on my street corner one night
it's about four in the morning it was months later it got a little heated yes and i was just
defending my position and he was fighting against me he was fighting on your behalf matthew
uh i still stand by my decision and i hope it was four bears died the same way freezing it was cold
we were just standing there and they're shivering arguing and the drunk on the corner we were
playing the next day and i was like i and i said
something like joe and i had a discussion about this and you were like yeah eventually joe was
screaming at me in my street corner eventually i was like joe you're drunk you were still living
in a story that was a long time ago it was uh good time all right what's the revelation you got uh
and then uh i got i got the revelation and I asked Matthew about this
I had a couple options in mind
He had a revelation
He was like that is the most Joe revelation
You have to take it
It is called rewind time
Twice per day as an immediate action
You can re-roll any 1D20
You just re-roll
That's cool
That's a little opaque
It comes from the Oracle revelations Which is what Speaker for the Past gives you access to.
It's in the time mystery.
And so it's basically like for the Shaman Speaker for the Past, it's like your ancestors,
like, no, you've just fucked up.
And they come in and correct it real quick.
That is really cool.
It's the Omega 13 from Galaxy Quest.
Yes, exactly.
Six seconds of your...
Yeah, yeah. So I can redo that role as an immediate action. That's awesome. Twice a Galaxy Quest. Yes, exactly. Six seconds of your... Yeah, yeah.
So I can redo that role as an immediate action.
That's awesome.
Twice a day.
That's pretty great.
I said that's great for you, Joe, and it will be even better for the podcast if you roll
two fives.
Exactly.
Oh, natural four and natural three.
We both agreed that it was very good for the podcast.
Well, that's great.
12th level, Shimon.
Yes, yes. podcast well that's great 12th level shaman yes yes and and somebody had pointed out that that i had taken spirit shield during character building which you is required to be 11th level
to get and i wouldn't be able to actually get it till 12th level right so there was another 11th
level required hex that i wanted to take which is amazing i'm not gonna talk about it in case i can
get it later uh but uh i went with rewind time because you can take that at earlier levels.
So we'll just retroactively say he took rewind time before and then
so it should be balanced out enough now, I guess.
That's very cool.
He was so overpowered before.
I know.
Yeah.
Really running the table with everything we were coming across.
I'm glad.
Finally.
Thank you for pointing that out.
That was that was accurate.
Cool.
So Barron's 12th, Four Bears is 12th, and Pembroke and Feyeraz are sitting on a high 11.
High 11.
A high 11.
High 11.
You're getting it.
I'm going to double down.
You're going to double down?
I'm going to go ahead and double down.
I feel good.
I feel lucky.
Always double down on 11.
Let's split the 11s.
Yeah, I mean, these guys are dropping serious XP right now.
So you will quickly get to 12, and then it'll be forever before you hit 13.
But at the end of the day, you come back to Minderhall's Cathedral,
and you've triumphed yet again in this tomb.
Face of adversity.
I mean, Forbear's literally stared death in his face, stared failing his ancestors and his family in the face as this devourer reached right into his chest and tried to grab at an intangible soul.
And to have it be the soul of a shaman is just all too perfect.
And you felt its clawed fingers grasp around this
this the spirit within you and just couldn't fully pull it out oh man so you come back
and again you wake up with this feeling that you're you're not doing what you're supposed
to be doing and the mechanical result of having not followed the skulls
orders to a T
is you have a
minus three penalty
to all of your ability
scores. Unremovable.
Unremovable. I thought that was a little
bold. When I say unremovable is I
know what it takes to remove it.
Four bears has wish.
He has wish? Yep. yep yep well he has unlimited
wish i've been drinking wooden legs let's take a let's have a sidebar uh no i looked at your
sheets i actually looked at your sheets for once and uh i was like yeah there's there's no way
there's no way it's gonna happen for the first time in 186 episodes i suppose my question is
is this a carrot or a stick like are we are we supposed to, could we, could it be removed if we complete the terms of the cause?
Did you say complete?
Complete.
Because it was so cute.
If we complete the quest.
He's going to get lit up.
You want some more, bro?
I'm all right.
Yeah, you are.
Don't be afraid of beers before you know it.
Paganaphobe.
Do you know what I mean?
Is this just like a curse for not completing with an L?
The quest?
Completing?
Yeah.
Or is it that we will get our strength and our wisdom and everything back if we i think i think if we
like remove this dude's head and return it to that skull i think we get it back that's my guess
if we remove the head and return it to the skull well yeah yeah that's always what happens pathfinder
out of context yeah um maybe i mean it's, it's hard to quite tell what's happening.
Obviously, the mechanical element of it is that all of your abilities go down,
which is really, it acts like ability damage, as we've discovered.
So it's a minus one to all of your stuff.
But, I mean, your ACs go down.
Your DCs of your spells go down.
Your range and your melee to hits go down.
Your skill checks, for those of you that use them, go down.
HP goes down.
I didn't even think about that.
I lost about 11.
Skid, what's Pembroke's effective strength?
My effective strength is 4.
Right now.
I have an effective strength of 4 and a con of 7.
Oh, my God.
Now that's bad news bears yeah holy shit i didn't
even think about that yeah yeah so pembroke like he wakes up in the morning and he thinks
this is it i'm going like i'm dying oh right i mean he's an old man yeah like he can barely
he can't he can barely like pull himself up to stand like he's so weak and i mean that's what
that's what he that's what he's experiencing like when he wakes up in the morning with this happening
so baron wakes up as well also just feeling awful and kind of like even though his hands have been
healed by the curse just kind of rubs him like probably someone who has arthritis does in the
morning and just doesn't feel right doesn't feel settled
still and he kind of looks over and doesn't feel in complete control of his own capabilities but
still has enough perception to look over and see pembroke looking worse for wear and so he walks over to Pembroke and just says, Pembroke, are you all right?
I don't know.
I feel as if I have had something taken away from me.
My mind is in a fog.
I feel older, Baron, like butter scraped over too much bread.
I sort of saw that coming.
I feel thin.
How do you feel?
How are you, friend?
I couldn't sleep a wink last night, Pembroke.
I don't know how you did, but...
I've just been thinking, you know?
I've just been... uh, I've been thinking, you know, I've just been,
I've been really thinking.
I've been thinking ever since we climbed up that mountain about moving on.
You ever think about moving on?
Yes.
Yes.
Well,
it's not about moving on to the next battle or finding me a woman to settle down with.
You know,
next battle or finding me a woman to settle down with, you know?
It's not about finding a job at Clamor with Sarah Mourninghawk,
hammering out hope knives till my beard goes gray.
I'm going to get gray like you one day if I try.
But it's not about sleeping a whole night in my own bed,
unafraid of anyone breaking in,
and not sipping a whiskey and shooting breeze with sir will it's not it's not about checking in on galabras making sure he's comfortable and telling about
the time he saved us all for the hundredth time when he's sleeping and it's not thinking about
hunting down that bastard nester and making him stand trial in front of Halgra.
I'm not thinking about enjoying any of the freedom I've been fighting so hard for.
Because all I can conjure up in my head is all the dying I've been party to.
My mind feels tight and uneasy like I got no space in there.
Feels like I got a Grian sitting on my chest and my heart's been aching something awful.
I ain't exactly living now, I'm just biding my time till some bitch clubs me over the head and it's all over.
You've seen how they were in that damn tomb.
It used to be I wanted a tomb like Nargrim Steelham.
But since I've been thinking all I want to do is keep on living and have someone that'll be my kin to remember me.
But I don't think that's in the cards for me.
All I got is a couple of folks who raised me. I ran away from a name given to me by an Oracle and a million giants between me and salvation.
The only thing I can think about between the Remoraz and the wicker man is just dying.
You know, you talked about being older, feeling it when you woke up.
And I know that time's a damned funny thing, especially, maybe not like you do, but when you can feel it running through your fingers.
And when I think about it, I told you I've been doing thinking, Pembroke.
And when I think about it, told you I've been doing thinking, Pembroke.
I just can't wrap my head around not being anything at all.
And it makes me scared.
But until time runs out, you can line them up and I'll shoot them down it's just not the living i was hoping for
pember kind of stumbles over to him with his with his staff just like tapping on the ground and he
kind of almost falls into him and baron and grabs him by the shirt so he said listen to me
baron he's barely so weak like he can barely even hold on he'd barely even stand and grabs him by the shirt. So he said, listen to me, Baron.
He's so weak, like he can barely even hold on.
He can barely even stand.
Look at me.
There is something affecting us.
Some cursed something has been placed upon us.
It is affecting our mind.
It is affecting our body.
I do not know what it is,
but do not despair.
Do not despair.
We will find an answer.
There is death
to come, but we will overcome it
and you will find life.
Do not let this take
over your soul. I will find an
answer. Do you hear me?
And Baron shakes and for a moment he has clarity of mind
and the strength that has allowed him to continue on up to this point.
And he looks at Pembroke in the eyes and says,
Thank you, friend.
Good.
And kind of lets go of his shirt and kind of like pats it smooth and then falls over
collapses like onto the stone and baron immediately falls to his knees to tend to him and says
four bears get over here now please we need your help you're like hustles over
boom boom boom boom his shield and mace left behind. Pembroke. What's wrong?
I'm quite weak.
Something has befallen. How do you feel?
How are you?
I feel emboldened.
I feel a new lease
on life, I think.
But I do feel weaker.
I feel as
if something was given to me and then taken away.
All at the same time.
I don't know, but surviving that...
Surviving that grasp...
It has made me stronger somehow, I know this.
Here, sit up.
Make sure you sit up.
He pulls himself up with help. help kind of taps him on the back
like trying to be light doesn't want to snap his brittle bones yeah he's like brittle as a
twig his hands are huge four bears hands are huge he's like tap tap tap we all i think are running
a bit ragged running a bit. It is death that follows us,
death that seeks us.
This is more than just exhaustion.
This is something more.
This is something deliberate.
Farazza, please, get Farazza.
Bring her here, too.
Farazza wanders in, wanders over,
and then goes to Pembroke.
I fear I am afflicted as well.
What is happening to us?
It is as I thought.
Can I do...
So we talked about this.
So is there anything Pembroke can do to identify what this is?
Yeah, it's funny.
I really looked into the rules for this.
And spellcraft is kind of what you would use to determine, like,
what is happening, what was that spell?
But when it's cast, you roll that check.
But to me, it's just not that interesting that a man like Pembroke, for example,
wouldn't be able to tie in what's happening to something he's,
if not experienced, read about or seen before.
So instead, roll a knowledge arcana.
Okay.
All right.
That's fair.
All right.
With my lowered intelligence, that is a 23.
23. So you feel as if you are being infected by a spell, a very high-level spell, known as a geese.
Or...
Geesh.
The geese?
Yes.
Or geas.
There's a million ways to pronounce it.
I say geesh.
Yeah, we never knew. Geesh, geesh. Growing up, we never knew how to pronounce it. I think we ended up saying geese. How's a million ways to pronounce it. I say geass. Yeah, we never knew.
Growing up, we never knew how to pronounce it.
I think we ended up saying geass.
How do you spell it?
G-E-A-S.
Oh, yes.
The old Irish, it says geass, and it has the same connotation, this magical quest that you've been given.
Yeah, it's a compulsion to complete a quest.
Right.
Famous anime, Code Geass.
I don't know if you've ever seen it. Yes, I've heard of it.
Never seen it.
Until you complete this quest,
this is going to keep
affecting you. So right now
it's a minus three.
Oh.
But if you don't complete this quest,
if you do other things, if you
waste time, if you do not make completing this quest your ultimate get-it-done-as-soon-as-possible goal, what you're feeling now will only worsen.
Pale in comparison.
Yes.
To the point where you would be, you could effectively be completely immobile and, you know, vegetable level.
We are being punished for our lack of expedience.
Yes, we are.
We have no choice.
Weak as we are, as fog, the fog that's draped over our intellect,
we have to complete this quest as quickly as we can.
It will only get worse.
What did you say, forebears?
You were about to finish a thought. What were you
saying? You said it was more than death. You said it was
something else. What are you... Tell me
whatever you know. I'm saying
that even though death is following us,
dogging our every step,
we must not
lose heart.
Baron, I urge you,
and you too, Pembroke.
You have much wisdom, yes, looking at Pembroke.
But I have spoken to those who have lived thousands of lives.
And there is more than what we see here.
There is a veil beyond which we may cross,
and if it is forced to happen to you before your time,
just know that there are beacons beyond.
There are places your soul can find comfort and peace.
I have spoken to them, and though many cry out in agony, many more have found it to be
a place of solace.
Though do not fear it, make it something that is just another bridge you must cross on your journey.
It will not end with death.
That I know for sure.
I don't want to remove that veil just yet, forebears.
For where I'm from, in the Five Kings Mountains,
we call an unveiling of the beyond.
The apocalypse.
I'm not ready for that yet.
And I'll do everything I can to try to stop it.
Yes, I agree.
I for one, I for myself also have little desire to hasten my passage into the afterlife.
And I shall endeavor to stay alive as long as I can.
And he stands up.
He pulls himself up
by his staff.
We should be going.
We must. We have a purpose.
Do not misunderstand
me.
Do not wish you to hasten your path.
But if you fear
it, too much
will lead you in the wrong way.
The urgency to grip on to life, the bravery to face that fear, Too much will lead you in the wrong way.
The urgency to grip on to life, the bravery to face that fear without doubt,
that is what gives your soul strength, both here and beyond.
No, none of us, none of us are crossing the veil if I have anything to say about it.
But we must, As you say.
Verraza.
Four bears.
Verraza.
You're four bears.
I'm four bears.
I'm four bears.
I'm four bears?
This Geass has me all fucked up.
Verraza.
My intelligence is a negative one.
It actually is.
What is it now?
My intelligence bonus is negative one.
There you go.
Feraza, Pembroke, we must complete this quest.
Yes, we must.
And, wow, so Pembroke actually,
because ordinarily we would teleport back to the entrance,
but Pembroke, yeah, i guess we'll do that so pembroke teleports us back to the entrance of the temple just for the hell of it and we're all the day women just for just for shits and
gigs 51 you're all right and you are right back At the entrance to the tomb
I rolled again it was 97
I'm telling you one of these days
One of these days Alice
What's the actual
We could actually end up on the moon
Is the effect you just end up somewhere you didn't intend to go
Yeah somewhere bad
Somewhere bad
I can't remember.
There's a whole table.
Yeah, there's a whole table, and it gets worse and worse. Oh, you roll on the table?
Yeah.
It's like somewhere similar.
Yeah.
Could literally be like another mountain top temple.
Sometimes it's similar or missed the mark completely.
You'd be like off the side of a mountain.
Just falling.
Feather fall.
All right, do you walk into the tomb?
Nah.
Let's do sightseeing.
Pass.
Let's play checkers with the wolves.
Hembrook casts, he used the wand to cast fly on himself just so that he can move around.
Ah.
Because otherwise, like, he doesn't think that he could manage to walk all the way just to where we were in the temple without help.
Okay, so he casts Fly
and... And Four Bears
casts False Life.
Okay, and
yeah, so you know he's going to
have about 11 minutes.
So do you want to make haste to
back to that room
before Fly runs out or do you want to just makee to back to that room?
Before Fly runs out?
Or do you want to just make it there? I'm using the wand, so I'll just keep casting.
You'll just keep casting, okay.
We also want to make sure we don't check for traps on the way back there,
because that would be a huge mistake.
It'd be a waste of time.
Yeah, huge waste of time.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, four bears will lead the way.
Unless Baron wants to stealthily, four bears will lead the way with his shield,
just to keep everybody protected as much as possible.
Okay.
So you enter that first room.
Are you casting light on yourself again, four bears?
Yeah, he is.
Okay, you enter that first room, and this is the room where you fought the Frost Giants.
There are doors to the left, doors to the north,
and then the hallway leading to where you fought the Dullahan.
What do you do?
He's going to continue up the main way.
All right, so you walk.
Stop creeping me out, LaValley.
It's Christmas, man.
Walk through that hallway?
Not yet.
Not now. Not now, world. Can I do perception, just sort of, man. Walk through that hallway? Not yet. Not now.
Not now, world.
Can I do perception?
Just sort of like to see if anything's changed.
Sure.
Anything's different.
26 perception.
26.
Everything looks pretty much the same.
And then I rolled a 21 survival.
Just looking for any changes to the, you know, any tracks or anything.
Doesn't look like anything's changed, per se.
I don't think anyone has passed this way since the night.
You're back in the Great Hall where you fought the Dual Hand.
There's a set of doors to the south, which you know lead to quarters.
And then two sets of doors to the west, one to the north and to the south.
A door to the east, which leads to that sepulcher of skulls
where he put this.
Where we were geased.
Where we were geased.
Yeah, I think even being near it.
I just got geased.
I think even being near it,
Forbearers, is a little like,
you know, when you know you haven't done something,
a task that your boss has asked.
Yeah.
And you're like walking by there.
I was like, please don't ask me.
Please don't ask me.
I'm going to get it done in about two hours. Like, please don't ask me. you're like walking by there i was like please don't ask me please don't ask me i'm gonna get it done in two hours like please don't ask me he's just walking
by and he's like please don't come out heads down yep yep uh just to be reading something yeah just
pass it through we'll call it a clipboard yeah just like uh working very hard so you just continue
north to the doors again uh yeah continuing and. And the doors are closed? To the little ante room. No, everything was left just the way you left it.
You go past the corpse of the Doolan, just laying there, festering.
Another perception, 19, just up through this room and up into the next,
where we fought the Devourer.
Yeah.
In that in-between room.
Didn't see anything of note.
What'd you roll?
19. 19, no. Didn't see anything of note. What'd you roll? A 19.
19.
No,
don't see anything.
Uh,
so now you're back inside the room with the devourer.
There are the doors to the West and then that big set of black double doors on a five foot high dais.
With,
with a little bit of extra time to the West.
There are doors to the East and then those big black doors to the west atop a five foot dais with stairs leading up to it.
Do not go west.
We must go east.
We have to go east.
But even in all this, Baron is going to use the moment of clarity he has here without being attacked by a skull chested other world awful thing uh to do a quick stone
counting check just around the room for anything unusual unkempt about this architecture 28 30 for
stone counting for secret doors okay so you're looking around uh i mean this room is definitely
different than the other rooms especially with the sunken portion of it makes you wonder what this was
kind of has the feeling of some sort of anteroom
to something else
maybe to what's beyond those black doors
but you don't
this is only a lobby
it's a glorified lobby
a coffee machine
maybe the depressed area here
the lowered area is where where all the people awaited to speak to whoever's beyond those doors.
Oh, God.
Who knows?
I mean, it really is so scary.
It is.
It's terrible.
It is.
It's terrible.
But beyond that.
Why do we have to do this?
You don't see any.
I know.
It's like some people spend their Christmas drinking eggnog and laughing.
But like for a catch, it's like there's other powerful people in the world.
Let's go get some help.
Why us?
Also, the skull can cast a six level spell.
It's true.
Yeah.
That scares me too.
It happened.
Every Christmas Eve, I just clean out my parents' gutters and find all the dead rats that have
been up there and squirrels.
Dead rats?
What's going on in your gutter?
You need to get some of those gutter guards.
Well, he grew up rich.
Gutters full of rats.
All those rats running over your roof.
Like, what?
You saw straight through my story.
That's so horrible.
Were you living in, like, 1700s London?
My sister died of the plague.
You don't see any secret doors.
Got it.
All right.
Well, yeah, I guess even though it's kind of too late for us, I mean, I think we probably
could go west if we wanted to right now since we're already like fucked up.
But yeah, we have to get this done.
Let's get this done.
Yeah, I want to get this done let's get this done so yeah i want to get it done it's so scary the moment before we step through the door
mage armor mirror image on me okay major armor lasts for hours yeah yeah mirror images well i
should do that yeah no yeah oh baron is also going to take this moment to cast something he cannot cast as a swift action. Weapon of awe.
Aww.
My gun turns into a little kitty.
Who's friends
with the cow. It shoots rainbows.
What about your
negative level there for bears? I think
now is a good time of any to roll that
4-2 save unless you want to use your restoration.
Yeah, I'm sorry. I actually
assumed I already used it. Oh. I prepared it and spent it in the morning nice of you to assume it yeah oh wait
i mean i didn't i just assumed that it doesn't take a role i don't think it takes a role right
it's a level four spell man no i don't i think you have to wait oh that's a restoration wait a
minute wait a minute you need full restoration to
get a level drape back
right yeah oh i forgot
about this i remember this
from yeah you need full
restoration i'm in fourth
levels i remember this from
the old days actually from
council you also need
diamond dust you need a
thousand gold pieces of uh
materials to do it yeah
diamond dust worth a
hundred gold or just a
straight up thousand gold pieces well would you rather just take you we can give you bear's endurance and and you just
roll the save uh you can't do that um why not because you can't we we've gone over this before
you can't like cast a buffing spell because the the roll is not representing a moment in time
it's representing like 24 hours of time so like you can't buff a roll to save over a 24 hour
period um well you can re-roll your d20 uh that's true bro that's true since you uh don't have the
goods okay god i completely forgot about it
what was was the tree
That gives us lesser restoration or restoration?
Lesser yeah lesser
Lesser
Lesser restoration okay it's a permanent negative level
And now I'm gonna roll my fortitude
Save come on buddy
Four bears
Natural
20
Get out of here
Come on, dude.
It very slowly passed through a natural one.
For those of you that watch the Twitch,
this is still that die, the part two of part five.
Remember that die that I got from L.A.?
Yeah, that one's cooking for you.
Somebody in the audience gave me an L.A.
This die is still cooking.
Yellow with green numbers.
Talk about an important role, because you failed that, man.
You're going into this not knowing what's happening with a negative level.
And now I have restoration prepared.
Great.
We'll probably need it.
Not a bad spell to have prepared in this, John.
All right.
I'm also going to cast a few spells.
I'm going to cast Stoneskin on myself.
All right.
Now, let's talk about the Stoneskin components,
because I did hear a little something about Stoneskin having some components.
Oh, yeah.
I never even saw that.
Granite and diamond dust worth 250 gold.
Oh, I'm not casting that.
Isn't that why you always take a skew material, though?
That's like a common feat.
Can you do that for this?
I don't think it's a common feat in people that play by the rules yeah okay i mean i i do i did take it
yeah but uh but no it actually wouldn't even apply that's just for minor that's just for
minor anything that's worth i never noticed that less than a gold piece right uh yeah i think it's
like grasshoppers legs and yeah that's that yeah and the only guano the only time we enforce it
is when it comes in with things like this.
But I did notice one of our friendly little birds chirped in my ear that,
you can't cast stones.
Yeah, that bird's not so friendly.
Troy, where do you have birds?
I have birds all over.
It makes sense.
Man, is it a powerful spell.
Mike Tyson.
I collect pigeons.
Now here.
All right, so you cast False Life, which lasts forever.
Yeah, I cast False Life, which lasts forever and uh i'm actually going to cast he's got access to a new six level spell okay
so i'm going to cast on everybody he brings him in he's like may the might of the warriors be
with you and he casts bull strength mass oh nice wow that's holy so super helpful everybody for 12 minutes has plus four
enhancement to strength baron drops his gun and goes in bare knuckle fighting and you've got that
axe too you have the axe yeah and he's got the axe so okay so you cast bull strength lasts about
12 minutes you cast false life that lasts uh hours question we don't have to do it right now
but will you let me retroactively
re-prepare something at fifth level instead of stone skin,
or do you want me to just keep it prepared and not use it?
I'm fine either way.
We'll talk about it later.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah, you can't do it today.
I'm penalizing you for not reading the material components.
Okay.
So you cast false life that lasts for hours.
You cast bull strength mass on everybody, which lasts 12 minutes.
12 minutes.
Pembroke casts Mirror Image, which lasts 11 minutes.
And Grant slash Baron casts Weapon of Awe, which lasts...
What level, Inquisitor?
Are you seven minutes?
Yes, it should.
Well, Inquisitor, I'm five.
Oh, five minutes.
So it's five minutes.
Yeah.
Okay.
Just keeping you honest.
And you are at the doors.
What do you want to do?
You want to move with haste?
It says one minute a level, not the level the spell's from.
So I'm going to say 12 minutes, Troy, and just roll with it.
That's definitely not how that works.
Not the rule.
All right.
I tried.
I tried.
You tried.
You definitely tried.
Got to take a shot.
Shoot or shoot.
All right, so what are you going to do?
Door's right there.
Tick-tock on those spells. Let's open them. Oh, man. them oh stealthy i'll do it stealthy all right do it do it stealthy you know
what i'm most nervous about nothing being in this room and him being like and your bull strength is
gone not the bull strength matters that much but 21 stealth it took me 35 minutes to do that
you open the doors baron stands up front, opens the doors,
and sees
a room ahead of you.
First thing you see is that a portion
of this room has collapsed
in a wide chasm to the
north. The chamber's
structural integrity remains intact
though, thanks to three support
columns that you can see that run in a straight line from east to west.
Baron, you have darkvision, so you can also see a smaller chamber opening to the south.
And there's a setting for hinges in the doorway that suggests that it is intended for future expansion.
But for the moment it
appears to be unfinished
and unoccupied. In fact
the floors in this chamber look to be
heavy with
masonry dust.
It looks like there's been work
done here recently brothers
and sister.
We should proceed in but with caution keep the name her and
spring bane on your mind but move with haste do not go slow if it's not necessary so we'll go uh
down south now is that where we're going to still get the guy i think so yeah looks like we can still
move east once we get yeah south east, so we'll go past those
support columns and then east.
Can I do a perception on the support columns
to see if they're
at all sturdy?
Sure. Or if there's anything going on
with them? Yeah, roll perception.
I'll do an engineering
on them, too. 28.
28.
27 engineering. 27 engineering, 28 perception. engineering 27 engineering 28 perception la dita you two
they look like they're in pretty good shape they look uh of newer construction um but you don't
think they're gonna collapse on you or anything do you think this was does it look could we surmise
that these were built in order to shore up this room after the collapse?
Were they that new?
Or is this something that, or was it anticipating a collapse?
It's not clear because there's no pillars to the north where the room collapsed.
And the southern portion is the portion that looks new.
And you look, Baron, you've got 60 feet of dark vision. You can see up to the north what looks like a bridge starting to span.
Oh, my God.
This chasm as well.
Oh.
Well, we did have to go north and east.
North and east.
Sorry, we're going north.
Well, we went north up to this point, and now do we go east, or do we keep going north-east?
No, I'm sure we have to go over the death trap bridge. The question, though, is if we are under the compulsion of this spell or curse or whatever we have that we don't fully understand, the geese or the geish?
The geish.
Geish.
Would this be drawing us in a particular direction?
I know you gave us directions.
Sure, sure, sure.
But does the curse itself pull us one way or the other?
No.
All right.
He said go north.
So it takes minus three to everything.
And then go east to the Vault of Ignorability.
Yeah, it has no positive benefits, Grant.
Right now, no one is...
Is anyone in the room?
Have you just not moved your pieces?
Because I can show you more.
Yeah, we just haven't moved our pieces.
I probably walked...
I walked on the other side of the door.
I like you...
No one ever really moves in.
In case I'm like, we're all finished. Like, oh, you're out the door. I walked on the other side of the door. No one ever really moves in. In case I'm like, we're all finished.
Like, oh, you're out the door.
I walked on the other side because I opened the door.
Baron, I cannot see more than 20 feet, 40 feet in low light.
What's the ceiling like in this room?
It's 20 feet high.
Basically, Four Bears is going to stay behind Baron and go wherever he goes.
Like, stay right immediately behind him so that he can jump in front if he needs or whatever.
So it said north, which we've done, and then east, which we have not done.
So I'm going to assume that we move east now, and it's going to communicate as much to the rest of the party.
So we're going to avoid Death Bridge for now.
But we have flying—well, let's go because we have our spells.
That's why I think we need to go to the bridge, which is north and east.
So Baron is going to cross the pillars while doing a perception check along the way for anything unusual in the stonework.
Right.
Sixteen on the die for a thirty-four.
A thirty-six.
Ooh.
Nothing looks unusual.
Are the pillars similar to the other ones?
Similar, but of newer construction.
Got it.
Baron, as you pass through the pillars and look forward, you do see a set of double doors.
Oh, my favorite.
As the hallway ends, but then the room also opens to the south where I said there were
like new hinges, like they built an extension.
So like they were intending to mount doors?
Yes, but they just haven't got there
yet. Well, I'll roll this like it's
you know, us being in the dungeon
instead of looking at a map. With
a 14 dungeon earring
would I be able to tell
where I am now versus
where I was earlier and like taking little
maps, would I be able to tell how little of the fog of war you've revealed between
where we were and where we are now?
I don't understand the question.
Me neither.
So I won't answer.
I just want to duck into that little space because there's very little of the
map revealed there.
Do you see how there's a big portion of the map revealed where we are?
There's little,
there's very little area for a room to be.
Yes.
We can see it looking at the map.
I think he wants to see, know if Baron would also know that.
I would go straight east if I didn't know that, but if I did know that there was very little area.
Right, right.
You can just, from where you are, because you're looking like around a corner.
So if you move up a little closer.
I'll move up to this corner and look around and I'll see everything.
Okay.
So you won't see behind where the room stretches out, but you can see that the room ends about like 30 feet in.
But it also turns around the corner, kind of back where you're coming from.
Baron's going to enter more to see around that corner.
Okay, now you see the whole space of the room.
And it's just like a rectangle that's 5, 10, 15, 20,
about 40 feet long and 30 uh, 30 feet deep.
And that's it.
And that's it.
I'll do a quick perception check for anything unusual.
Okay.
Uh,
22,
26,
25.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You don't see anything unusual.
Baron,
we're wasting our time here.
All right,
let's go through these doors.
Baron,
your weapon of awe is gone now.
How long was it? All right, that's fine. It's 11 minutes. Let's go through these doors immediately. Baron, your weapon of awe is gone now.
How long was it?
All right.
That's fine.
Seven minutes.
Oh, that's five minutes.
Five minutes. Okay, so we're halfway through.
Almost halfway through.
Stealth.
Strength.
Open that.
Stealth.
Natural.
Twins.
On that stealth check.
34.
All right.
So you stealthily open the doors.
And I'll cast another Weapon of Awe.
And I'll cast another Weapon of Awe.
You just do that for days?
I have two level two spells left, Joe.
It's a...
Oh, okay, gotcha, gotcha.
Whoa.
Oh, shit.
There is some stuff going on.
We close the door.
Oh, no. We close the door. Oh, no.
We close the door.
Oh, shit.
Oh, man.
You open the door and you see five thrones lining the wall.
This is never good.
Of this icy chamber nestled between support columns in each of the four corners,
runes are inscribed upon the headboard of each throne.
And a shriveled giant corpse, resplendent in dusty armor, slouches in each throne.
Baron, you immediately get the sense that this is a place of honor and respect for, you would assume, the Skirkaling tribe.
That's kind of what you expected to find in here, maybe not in the way it actually is displayed.
And you think that if this skull of Agargrim,
or Akargrim, speaks the truth,
that their most renowned, or at least infamous,
warriors are interred in this chamber.
Nothing's moving, though.
Detect magic.
I would like to step up,
just kind of in front of Baron,
just to where the door frame is,
and cast Detect Undead.
Ooh, good spell. And just kind of wash across all of them.
And cast Detect Undead.
Are they undead, or are they actual just just bones just corpses you do detect undead
from all of them not from all of them no
four bears baron will stand side by side since when was four bears like you're steve holt
i love this guy matth Matthew get off my back
you've been doing it on your roll
you know that you're just standing there and
you're losing a couple big rolls lately you're
losing time on I get
you but which one I'm the wizard
spell which one or two or three are projecting
auras of undead so you hold it
there point of order I was I was
making fun of Joe outside of game time
no I took it as a
making fun all right so of game time. No, I took it as a surprise I'm making fun of Joe.
All right, so yeah, one round.
Then two rounds.
Number of undead auras in the area.
So if we don't get to round two, all I detect is presence or absence.
Right, you detect three undead auras.
Okay, and then I'm going to do third round.
Strength and location of each undead aura.
Where's the axe?
The axe is on forbearers like belt.
On his belt.
Yeah.
So you come to the door and you're still outside the door.
Yeah.
But the door is open from Baron's stealth check.
You detect undead.
You detect the presence of undead.
You continue holding that.
Another round.
And you detect three presences. You detect the presence of undead. You continue holding that. Another round. And you detect three presences.
You see five corpses.
Corpses. Corpses. Corpses.
You see five corpses, but you only detect
three presence of undead.
As you really hone in
to try and figure out more
of what's going on,
you see, straight across from you,
the giant corpse
sitting in the center throne
of this room
raises up a hand,
points directly
at your axe,
and then
to his right and to his left,
all three of them hiss
in unison.
And then the one in the middle is like,
Doom's in giant.
I know that, Axe.
Doom is upon us.
And all of a sudden, something happens within you four bears.
Maybe it's your ancestors speaking to you.
Maybe it's an element of the gish itself letting you know that the axe at your side right now is a plus one vorpal greataxe.
Holy fucking shit!
Snickerdysnack!
Roll for initiative.
Oh, yeah!
Oh, my God.
Wow.
That is amazing.
Snicker snack.
And he's got nothing in his hand, either.
Oh, baby!
Plus one.
Plus one Vorpal Greataxe.
And he's got Bull Strike
Massive! Are you even gonna use
that shield this battle, bro?
Baron, what'd you get?
Baron rolled terribly.
Oh, no.
He's only got a 29.
What?
A 15?
I know.
A 400.
Joe looked at him.
A what?
A Feyraza.
Natural one.
Oh, no!
No!
Eight.
Well, you never want your incredibly powerful spellcaster druid to roll high initiative.
That never works out.
Pembroke? One.
Oh my god!
I rolled a natural one also.
Oh my god. Four bears.
17. That's a natural
16. That's a natty
16. Oh my
gracious. Apples
and cheddar. Son of a
chicken. This is not good
at all. Son of a chicken. Well is not good at all. Son of a chicken.
Well, the one who...
No, no, no.
I needed to go first.
Who yelled,
he's going to go first.
Oh, poo.
And let's just check out the distance here.
Oh, yeah.
Room for days.
He is just going to rush up.
Oh, man.
And I guess you'll, since you're flat-footed, might as well put on power attack with the
battle axe, which, by the way, is a times three crit.
Oh, boy.
And we'll attempt to cleave Baron.
Oh, no.
Are we going to the land?
You're going?
Blessed by LeBron James?
It's Christmas in Cleveland.
This is our Hallmark movie version.
I'm Charlie Sheen.
Return to Cleveland.
Return to Cleveland.
Now, which one of you has the lower AC against Giants?
Don't answer that.
I'm like your attorney.
I'm like, you don't have to answer that.
You don't have to answer that question.
Did you say Great Axe?
It's a Great Axe.
Excuse me, Battle Axe. Battle Axe. That's a, you don't have to answer that. You don't have to answer that question. Did you say great axe? It's a great axe. Excuse me, battle axe.
Battle axe.
That's a big and very sad difference.
Battle axe.
Troy's swinging his wife around.
How dare you?
I don't know if I want to put power attack on you guys.
ACs are so ridiculous.
No, I'm not going to put it on.
All right, going for four bears first.
Four bears.
Oh, I should have left it on.
That is going to be.
You always should. Oh, Natty 19. So that is a 40 Four bears. Oh, I should have left it on. That is going to be. You always should.
Oh, Natty, 19.
So that is a 40 to hit.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It'll do it.
Why would you not put power attack on?
I know.
I just don't know what your ACs are.
All right.
20 points of damage.
Less than 40.
And then goes to Cleave Baron.
That is going to be a 33.
And yes, they have the giant subtype. 33 and yes, they have the giant subtype.
33 flat-footed with the giant subtype.
Is it against asshole DM AC?
No, it's against regular assholes.
Touch AC?
Okay, no, that's it.
All right.
That is going to be 18 points of damage.
As that one just steps up.
Does he look any different from the other two? He does. He does. of damage. As that one just steps up. Oh, man.
Does he look any different
from the other two?
He does.
He does.
It looks like he is
the one that commanded
the two beside him
to attack.
He was the one who spoke.
And is he wearing
anything different?
Not wearing anything
different, no.
They all kind of look
exactly the same,
but you do see
that their nameplates,
the runes,
are all different.
Ah, okay.
It is Forbear's turn.
Oh, that's good.
That's good.
Oh, no!
Oh, gosh.
Question, though.
Is it safe to assume, since you play by the rules, that I have. Uh-huh. Joe made air quotes. I saw it.
I heard it.
I wasn't looking, but I heard it. That I have no special ability to wield this weapon.
I just know that it's a plus one Vorpal Battle Axe.
Yes.
Okay.
So I basically, there's no point in even bringing it up because he's not, he's a shaman.
He's not proficient with those weapons.
So he would take serious minuses to try to use it.
Okay.
So unless there's some magically imbued proficiency.
Too bad.
It is.
It really is.
Was it a dwarven axe?
It really is too bad.
It was a broken axe, which has now been magically repaired and became a plus one Vorpal great axe as soon as it was brought into the room.
Okay.
Four Bears is going to...
Oh, man, he's gonna...
And he reaches his hand out, does this incantation,
and man, oh, man, man, oh, man,
am I freaking terrified about this freaking concentration check
to cast defensively. I was just gonna say, yeah, check to cast defensively.
Yeah, you got to cast defensively.
Oh, God.
Well, the board says I have a bottle cap, and I don't remember that, but I'll take it.
Yep.
Right now, it's zero Matthew, one Skid, one Joe, zero Grant.
I am going to use it to get a plus five to this roll to cast
this spell. You're 12th level.
Defensively. Plus six.
Oh, it's half your level. Okay.
Plus six to the roll means
that I just
need a natural two or higher.
So only a natural one.
Ha ha ha!
Only a natural one.
Are you going to ruin Christmas, Joe? Only a natural one will result. This is great. Only a natural one. Are you going to ruin Christmas,
Joe? Only a natural one will miss. Okay.
It was worth it.
Natty ate. Okay. He
says the incantation,
and then
Four Bears is going to
bring his own cone
of cold. Oh, wow.
To these three guys guys I don't know
if the wait wait wait
shit where the undead
are is the two sitting
beside him I assume that
they were yes okay so
no no no the two on the
opposite sides of the
room now for Christ's
sake well then I'm not
fucking shit well I'm not
doing that well you'll
hit him at all two people
all right yeah I'll just
pivot it to hit two of
them god damn it all
right the way you certainly wouldn't spell a bottle cap all right yep so cold Two people. All right, yeah. I'll just pivot it to hit two of them. God damn it. Sorry.
I certainly wouldn't have spent a bottle cap.
All right.
Yep.
So Cone of Cold, which is a reflex save.
Okay.
On, we'll say, the top two guys.
Okay.
So the guy right in front of me and the guy over to the left.
Okay.
What's the DC?
The DC is 19.
The now lower DC.
Okay. We got a pass and a left. Okay. What's the DC? The DC is 19. Lower DC. Um,
okay.
We got a pass and a fail.
Oh,
nice.
Holy shit.
Amazing.
Okay.
Pass and a fail.
So,
uh,
do I,
I just roll,
I don't do this often.
I just roll one damage,
right?
Uh,
roll and then it split it.
It's AOE.
Got it.
Okay.
So,
uh,
the one that did not fail
takes 44 points of damage.
Okay. And the one that did take...
Oh, they're immune. See, they have cold
resistance. You want to roll that perception check?
Let's tell you that they don't look fazed at all by the cold.
Okay.
Alright. Well, I just assume
maybe... Is that always undead or
unfazed by cold? No, but they are like
frost giants. But hey, at least you know. I assume maybe Is that always undead Or unfazed by cold No but they are like Frost Yeah
Frost giants
Frost giants
But hey at least you know
Yeah
Yeah
What level spell was that
Six level
But I mean look
It's prepared
It's not as if like
Yeah
It's not as if we're not
Resting after this combat
Right
It's not like I would
Use it better somewhere else
But
Yeah
Shit
I
I thought about it before But then i was like i don't have knowledge
religion so i wasn't gonna actually i do now but it's a plus three so don't worry about it i hear
you buddy i fucked up it's all right well so sad it is my turn again one of them runs out and past
you and to block the other side of you oh no you get a attack of opportunity for bears you and to block the other side of you. Oh, no. You get an attack of opportunity, four bears.
You want to use another cone of cold?
I don't have a weapon.
To whip down that vorpal greataxe.
Yeah, stop calling it a greataxe, because it's not.
Sorry.
Oh, wait, is it? Yeah, yours is a vorpal greataxe.
I'm sorry, mine was a battleaxe.
Oh, okay.
Can you wield a greataxe? No.
That's even harder.
That's even harder.
All right, so that guy double moves out to there.
And then the other one.
Let's see.
This is going to get pretty ugly, I think.
That would provoke for me and Baron, but.
You're flouncing.
Hold on.
That's a platform.
You're provoking my flouncing. Well, you also can't squeeze in the space you're taking himoundering. That's a problem. You're floundering.
Well, you also can't squeeze in the space you're taking him to, you son of a bitch.
You're a squeeze box.
All right, and then the other one is going to...
The other one is going to hold for the moment.
So it is now...
Actually, you know what? The other one will at least take its move action to move up into the corner of the moment. So it is now... Actually, you know what?
The other one will at least take its move action
to move up into the corner of the room.
And it is now Baron's turn.
Jesus Christ, what a terrible situation we are in!
Look at the map!
Baron's in a tough spot to where he is standing
side by side with four bears,
the always wise and perfect tactics.
And if he stands there and shoots,
he probably provokes from the guy in front of us that looks like a big badass.
If he steps back in a five-foot step,
he's probably going to provoke from the other giant guy behind him.
So what does Baron do?
What does he do? what does he do what does he do baron is as a swift action going
to call down a judgment of sacred protection plus two and then as a uh full round attack action it's
gonna be a rapid fire against the bad guy and hope he doesn't die okay um please don't die
oh should i do it can i also do a knowledge check in there to see if they're giant subtype?
Sure. I think they are because you already mentioned that.
Yeah, yeah.
Ooh.
Correct die.
Okay, so what knowledge type?
Religion or?
No, it would be knowledge local.
14.
14.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, you would think they're the giant subtype.
So you're going to fire at the one that just moved up to four bears?
Yeah, the one that seems like the big bad guy that came from the middle.
All right.
Attack of opportunity.
He's going to take the attack of opportunity in natural 20.
This is brutal.
Oh, my God.
This is...
That's times three.
Oh, wait, it's a battle axe.
It's a battle axe.
That's still times three, though.
Yeah, it is, but it's not a great axe.
To confirm.
That's different. To confirm. And now, technically, you acted it is, but it's not a great axe. To confirm. That's different.
To confirm.
And now, technically, you acted, so you're no longer flat-footed, I believe.
Yeah, no, I'm good.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, boy, buddy.
36.
Oh, that'll do it.
That confirms it.
Oh, my God.
Wait, is it named?
It is a named creature.
Oh, my God.
We got a fan critical that's going to baron oh my god double damage is triple
damage oh my god oh okay so uh let's see uh this one is from sean in new zealand hey
oh oh this oh i don't want to read what this is but it sounds like it's going to make sense This one is from Sean in New Zealand. Hey.
Oh, I don't want to read what this is, but it sounds like it's going to make sense.
Read it.
Revolting blow.
Oh, boy.
I'm sick. You land a monstrous revolting blow to the target.
Deal double damage, and all enemies, which is us, within 20 feet that could conceivably
see the attack are shaken for one round.
Oh, my gracious. Oh, my gracious.
Oh, my God.
That is a great crit.
That is a great crit.
Good job, Sean.
Oh, my God.
Like, we just see Baron like...
This is going to be revolting.
What happens to me is what you're saying.
Oh, my God.
Triple damage.
Okay.
Oh, God.
Here we go.
No, Baron.
No, Baron.
Oh, that's some sixes in there
I hate him as a
person
59 points of
damage
59 points of
damage
oh god
you may fire.
And everybody puts shaken on your character sheet.
Yeah, I did it.
First attack is going to be a 27 against touch.
27 against touch.
It's too late to say up close and deadly,
even though I obviously would have said that,
but, you know, I'm shaken.
21 points of damage for the first attack.
Second attack will be up close and deadly.
Okay.
Uh, going to be hit at a 19 against touch AC, I imagine.
Okay.
Hold on one second.
Yes.
Combat reflexes.
Don't do it.
Do I get to take an attack of opportunity if he shoots twice?
If I have combat reflexes?
For Christ's sake.
I think moving, no.
This is such a huge thing.
I don't think so, because I think that this is all part of the same action, which is a
full attack action.
Right.
So I would say that you can't.
I know if you're moving multiple times, you only get it once.
No, no, no.
It's not about moving.
It's about the same action.
The same action does not provoke.
I believe this is one full attack action.
The multiple shots. Right, right. Well, this is one full attack action. The multiple shots.
Right, right.
Well, this is an important question.
Let's read about it.
It's a hugely important question.
This is, yeah.
Yeah, this one you want to make sure of.
You want to look this up.
And to be honest, I have looked this up before.
And not surprisingly, there's a lot of debate on the subject.
But at the end of the day, yeah, this is what I'm seeing here.
A ranged attack provokes the
end. If you have combat reflexes,
it provokes every single time. That's the way I'm reading it.
Now some people say, well, a full attack doesn't provoke,
but it's the word of action and
opportunity are two different things.
I thought that it said
a single action cannot provoke more
than once, but it doesn't say that, does it?
Yeah, no, it's pretty explicit,
even though it's very confusing. Movement is the exception.
Yeah, movement is the exception. This game is ridiculous.
It's just absurd. I'm going with your ruling.
I appreciate it, Grant. So hold off on your damage
because let me see if I killed you before the damage
actually came out. I mean, I'd have to
roll another natural 20 again.
God! Not close.
But it might
have hit. That is going to be a
28. Not a hit. That is going to be a 28.
Not a hit. Yeah!
All right!
There!
Do the damage.
You son of a B.
All right.
Do the damage.
So as I was finishing my point before I roll my damage,
I would say that in the same way two actions of movement
count as, like, breaking up the attack of opportunity chain,
so do two attacks in a full attack action.
We'll let the subreddit battle it out.
It doesn't matter.
We already went with you.
Cracked eye on this one.
Ooh, big upgrade.
Up close and deadly as well.
Which I said beforehand.
It didn't look that cracked.
It was.
It was at a cocked angle.
It was very slightly cracked.
I think actually the term is cocked eye.
Cocked eye.
I believe it's cocked eye.
You've been saying it wrong for three years.
We're talking about 24 points of damage on that one
Okay
Are you going back to the well?
Am I gonna go back to the well?
So you shot right?
The second time you shot
This guy with unbelievable speed
Like he swung again
You got out of the way
But like
You know this dude's
He's no nonsense
He could knock me unconscious With just one single blow on his next turn.
And one single crit, he could permanently kill you.
Yeah, so do I want to go down swinging?
Your con's down too, buddy.
And you're surrounded by undead giants.
I say you go down shooting.
I'll stop.
Yeah.
Boo!
Joe just gave me this look With those beautiful
Baby blue eyes
Not like those
Filthy turtlers
Colored eyes
Troy hats
No my look was like
I'm with Matthew
Really?
Yeah
Well I'm
Here's the only thing
I'm thinking
I just
You
There's nothing else
You can do
There's nowhere to run
There's nowhere to hide
I'm gonna take it
Fuck it
Natural chance
Yeah
For a 16 Up close deadly For a 16 against Touchy And it does swing at you Again There's nowhere to run. There's nowhere to hide. I'm going to take it. Fuck it. Natural chance. Yeah.
For a 16.
Close deadly for a 16 against Touchy.
And it does swing at you.
Again.
Wow.
This is its third attack of AOO.
Don't you crit, LaValley.
Don't even think it rolled in front.
Wait, did I use one on four bears?
No.
So I still have, this is my third, right?
Yeah.
Okay.
Should be.
Right? I think so.
Here we go.
Do I have any bottle caps?
Let's go to the board. Let's go to the board.
Let's go to the board.
Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
Just skid with one.
That's it.
Yep.
That's it.
Okay.
Here we go.
Come on, baby.
Oh, 90, 19.
Man, if this thing was keen.
All right.
So that is going to be a hit.
And that is going to be.
Give me the total AC, LaValley.
Oh.
30. Excuse me. 90 me 2019 is a 40 yep okay
it's going to be 18 points of damage all right you know what i will say is a little odd you can
just go like and yet if you were doing that as your focused attack not as an attack of opportunity
but as your focused attack you would take take a minus to each successive hit.
You'd hear, you're like, full attack bonus, full attack bonus,
full attack bonus, and lightning quits me.
Did your crazy
cleave feat get you to 59 points
of damage when you attacked me the first time? I'm
confused by going from 59 to 18,
but that's fine. I crit
you. He crit it. Oh, right.
I mean, I can give you
59. I just thought I would give you the non-thiscount i just want 41 points back is that okay uh all
right so what did you get for a full that was a hit right 10 on the die yeah yeah what was the
total 16 i got such a okay that is a hit all right so that is going to be 11 15 carry the
27 points of damage 27 points of damage
And what type of damage does your weapon do?
It does
Bludgeoning, piercing, magical
And it is bane against giants
It doesn't look like it's all going through
That's what you're seeing with that
Do you have any other
Attacks Baron? Nope, that's it
Alright, it's Faraz's turn Faraz is going to cast a spell Do you have any other attacks, Baron? Nope. That's it. All right.
It's Faraz's turn.
Farazza is going to cast a spell, so she's going to roll to cast defensively.
Okay.
I'm sure you'll make it.
Natural 17.
Yeah.
Nice.
Nice.
So Farazza suddenly goes poof, and her entire body becomes just particles of dust that arrange
in the shape of Faraza.
Oh, cool.
Dust form as a six-level spell.
Oh, wow.
So she effectively becomes incorporeal.
Wow.
Oh, my God.
Holy shit.
You're like a really old, dirty vampire.
Yeah.
You may live forever.
And so I can move through spaces that, as if I were a creature, three size categories
smaller without penalties. Wow. I don't squeeze. Very, as if I were a creature, three size categories smaller without penalties.
Wow.
I don't squeeze.
That is very, very, very cool.
And I'm considered incorporeal.
Yep.
That's pretty good.
Only non-magical attack does half damage to you.
And magic attacks go through.
No, my non-magical attacks do half damage.
Oh, you're sure about that?
No, any non-magical attacks you make deal half damage.
I see.
All right.
So only magical attacks can hit you because you are incorporeal.
Very cool.
Awesome spell.
Yeah, it's cool, isn't it?
Do you want to move?
Did you cast defensively and make it?
Yes.
I rolled natty 17.
Beauty.
I am then going...
So they can't hit me unless they're doing magical attacks.
Can I roll...
So I've seen them now hit Baron a couple times.
Yeah.
Based on my perception, would I assume that...
Oh, I did a detect magic earlier.
Yes.
You overruled me on Joe.
But did I detect magic earlier?
Magical armor.
Yeah, that's it.
All right.
So Farazza's going to move into the room So Farazza's going to move into the room.
Farazza's going to move into the room.
And since she is basically ethereal, she does not provoke.
Didn't you get enough attacks of opportunity this round?
I could never get enough.
It is Pembroke's turn.
Pembroke also hemmed in by this giant mass.
That is true.
Pembroke is going to fly backwards about 30 feet here.
All right.
Just out of its range of striking.
All right.
It will try to do an attack of opportunity against one of your images.
Yep.
Hits.
And how many images do you have? I have seven again.
Seven? Alright, so it's got to be an eight on the die
to hit you. Six.
So one of your images is gone.
Alright, so you get out of its range.
And as a
swift action,
I cast
I'm going to cast Fireball into the room.
Holy shit!
So I can catch the two giants in it.
And...
Oh, boy.
So you're going to try and cast it past the giants?
Right past Four Bears.
Yeah, I'm going to cast it.
Zoom, like...
A little bead of fire. Yeah, right past Four Bears' Yeah, I'm going to cast a zoom. A little bead of fire.
Yeah, right past Four Bears' ear, like right into the room.
And it's going to explode like right there.
And what type of range does that have?
That won't hit Baron and Four Bears?
No, it has like 100 feet of range or something.
So that should hit.
No, but the radius.
Yeah, no, excuse me.
No, the radius is 20 feet.
The radius is 20 feet.
Ah, shit.
They hit it right here.
Yep.
And yep, they're both in it.
So that is...
Are they immune to fire, too?
Troy just accidentally clicked on the turn order in Roll20 because he's so upset about that ruling.
I just wanted to make sure I couldn't get one of these guys in it.
That looks like Four Bears is in it.
But he can move it back one square.
Yeah.
I see.
Yeah.
Because he has a 100-foot range. I got you. Okay. Yeah. I see. Because he has a 100 foot range. I gotcha. Okay.
Alright, so reflex saves?
Explosions. Yeah, DC 19
reflex save for half. Alright, the one
that made all those attacks against Baron
makes it barely with a
20. And then the one around the corner
fails. Okay.
Alright, do it to it.
The one that made it save takes 44 points.
Oh, no, sorry. The one that made it safe takes 22 points of fire damage.
The one that failed takes 44 points of fire damage.
88 points of damage.
You said 44 points of damage?
Yes, to the full damage one.
That was fire damage?
Yes.
Just in case you didn't get that.
In case you didn't get that.
I got you.
I got you.
And then I'm going to do a knowledge religion on these things.
Okay.
That is, with my reduced intelligence, that is a 15.
15.
Some smarter you are.
Not anymore.
You don't know.
Okay.
Okay.
Then I'm going to start casting summon monster six.
Oh.
So you flew, move, and the fireball was from the metamagic rod.
And now you begin casting Summon Monster 6.
Yes.
Good gracious, good gravy.
It goes back to the top of the order.
Oh, no.
And it goes to what you have to assume is Horan Springbane.
Standing across from
Baron and four bears.
And Cloud of Dust
known as Feyrazzet who is right.
That's me.
I mean, I think I'll take Cleave
off here. Let's see.
Let's see.
I could do that.
Maybe I should put Power Attack back on.
I shouldn't have talked shit about it.
Yeah.
First round.
Shit about Power Attack.
Let's go with the first attack against Baron.
That is a miss.
Nice.
Oh, my God.
Huge bear bear.
Huge.
That's big.
Second attack against Baron with power attack.
Oh, my God.
That is going to be a 28.
That is a miss.
Yeah.
Oh, Baron.
One more against Baron.
No.
No.
No.
No.
No.
No.
No.
No.
No.
Stay away from my Baron.
Give me back my son.
Another miss.
Yeah, dude!
Three misses.
Yeah, dude.
Oh my god.
What did I do to the...
Oh, we're right.
I peed all over it last week.
And it is Four Bears' turn.
All right.
Four Bears is going to...
If I take a five-foot step, can I not provoke from anybody if I cast a spell?
No.
Or am I within ten feet?
It looks like this dude, technically his square, yeah.
They box you in pretty well.
Yeah, so there's nowhere I can go without provoking there.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
Then.
All right. Then. All right.
Then Four Bears is going to roll to cast defensively.
Okay.
To cast another spell.
God, I hate this.
You can do it.
I hate this so much.
I believe in you, Joe.
Come on, man.
Christmas miracle.
Just made it.
Just made it. Okay. For the 26th. Needed, man. Shout out to Christmas Miracle. Just made it. Just made it.
Okay.
For the 26th.
Needed a 25.
All right.
Needed a 25.
Four bears.
Puts his hand out to the side.
Lowers his head down.
Starts to just like murmur under his breath.
And then he starts speaking.
And he's speaking in Shawanti.
And he looks at the guy in front of him and he's just like, basically what he says in Shawanti is, we have come with friends.
Release the hounds.
And his eyes turn blue and materializing out of nowhere Next to him and through him
Runs a pack of
Ice wolves
That envelop
The guy who's like the boss man
Wow
It is a fifth level spell called
Release the hounds
And it is a swarm of
A pack of ice wolves
That envelop this guy.
Release the hounds!
Let's see what happens.
What is this all about?
Well, actually, do you get an attack of
opportunity if it's cast on your square?
Not sure.
Because it's a swarm, right?
It has swarm traits, yeah.
I think if you
cast it, it's moving onto my square, doesn't it?
Yeah, I mean, I guess I could cast it onto your square, couldn't I?
Because it has a ranged casting ability.
Yeah, I think so.
So I'm going to assume I can cast it onto your square,
and that you wouldn't get an attack of opportunity.
I'm guessing.
Yeah, I have no problem with that.
Okay, and it deals, it just automatically deals damage because it's a swarm.
So it does seven points of damage.
General 3d6 and two of them are ones.
Two ones, of course, on a 3d6.
And you just take that damage.
But as part of taking that damage,
I can immediately attempt A trip attack
Oh nice yeah wolves wolves with the tripping
Yep so he's gonna try to sweep your legs out from under you
Okay it's a really hard roll
Against
Your CMD okay so
Gonna be a long shot but let's see
That is probably
A miss
22 against your CMD.
That's a miss. Yeah, okay, so they just swarm
around this guy, and that's
it. Alright.
My turn.
My turn to play.
Alright, we'll have the first
one come
up and attempt
to attack. He's going to take a five-foot
step and do a full attack on
Pembroke. If he
hits, Pembroke will
have to roll to see if you lose the spell.
But there are
six images and one Pembroke.
He's got three attacks though. Oh dear.
You're really
playing the odds here right now.
Let's go. I won't worry about power attack
for this one. Just one hit. Actually, power attack actually Let's go. I won't worry about power attack for this one.
Just one a hit.
Actually, power attack actually would be smart.
That doesn't matter.
All right, here we go.
First attack, almost a crit.
So now what is it?
Seven? It's six images and one Pembroke.
Six images and one Pembroke.
What the hell is the easiest way to do this?
Do a D8 and make a one.
Just do a D8 and re-roll an eight.
Yeah.
But a seven is him.
A seven is him?
Yeah.
Eight's re-roll.
Eight is a re-roll, of course.
I rolled an eight this time.
Yeah.
Six.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
The five images.
Next one is 22 to hit.
To hit.
Eight again.
Another re-roll.
No, no.
That was a D6. That was a D6.
6 crushes you.
Another image.
Another 5 image.
I love this.
Last one is an 18 to hit.
That is a hit.
The deck's damaged.
Now there's 5 of you, so a D6
reroll to 6. 5 hits.
Yes, there you go.
Hits.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
That is going to be loss of the spell, I'm assuming, right?
It's based on the damage.
Yeah, it's 10 plus the damage dealt.
Come on.
It's absurd.
Oh, yeah, with power attack on.
No, you said you weren't putting it on.
No, I ended up putting it on because I realized it doesn't matter.
I'd hit him with anything.
Yeah, so that's going to be 26 points of damage.
Oh, yeah.
I'll lose the spot.
Oh, no.
Pembroke.
Pembroke, no.
The other one who was just sitting in wait, thought he'd be safe over there,
but was then hit by a fireball.
He's going to rush past four bears let me just make sure i get my spacing here correct rush past four bears yep
and he he has to he has to roll to do that i'll take the attack of opportunity. No, he can't pass through my square without rolling an acrobatics
check. That's a good point.
Too many to think of that
at the beginning when the guys
ran past you. But I mean,
it's certainly not a gimme. I'm just
trying to decide if I want to stick with the move. Now, if I don't do it,
I stay there in front of you,
basically, and then I can just hack away at you.
You know what? Go ahead and run right
through. Go ahead. You know what? Let's not worry worry let's not get all bogged down with the rules move through
an enemy space five plus the cmd what is your cmd or do you not want to tell me uh it is 25 so
30 30 and you have to roll a acrobatics check yeah yeah so yeah you got this
they're sure i'm sure they're pretty acrobatic
sure they're very acrobatic well here's the thing i don't want you to not do it because i told you
no no i know i understand so yeah he he fails um okay so he stops right in front of me stops right
in front of you uh i do not have a ability to attack him so right and he would stop right in
front of him not five feet away all right so then i'll attack baron instead since you're 10 feet away
he really is going after actually i can grapple you from there 10 feet feet away. So that's what he's going to do. He's going to attempt to grapple Baron Ashpeak.
Oh, no.
And he has a free hand.
Good point.
Good point.
He's wearing, he's wearing, he's using the battle axe in one hand.
Yeah.
If he has no shield, then that's fine.
I'm also 15 feet away.
No, you're 10 feet away.
Okay.
All right. He'll drop his shield. He actually does have a shield.
Drop his shield and try and grab
Baron with the other hand.
Against your CMD, it's going to be a
34.
That's a miss.
Oh, wow.
36 against Giant Slice.
Holy son of a gun. He is a slippery dwarf, man.
Wow. 34 is a slippery dwarf, man. Wow.
34 is no good.
All right, and that
would provoke because you don't have a melee weapon. So now
it is
Baron's turn.
Finish them. And you have
two giants.
We're out of time.
In your range.
I have to run away because this guy has attacked
There's nothing I can do
Well, I mean, listen
Every shot you take is going to just provoke two attacks of opportunity
You can take a five foot step, can't you?
And get out of his range
No
Yeah, yeah, you can
If I take a five foot step back here
That guy doesn't threaten behind me
No, he does not
No, because he moved up to attack
And then neither of the other two threaten me?
No, looks like you're okay.
Yeah, you're 15.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, you found the one spot.
Coming up barren.
You got him.
Let's do it with a little up close and deadly.
Yeah.
Here it comes.
Here it comes, Troy.
I'm ready.
I'm ready.
You remember the weapon of awe?
You know what happens if I get a little bit of a critical?
The first one is a hit with a 17.
17's a hit.
We're talking
30 points of damage on the first attack.
Okay, okay.
Good rolls.
Second one is up close and deadly,
but it is a one on the top.
Oh, come on!
Yes!
Merry Christmas!
To confirm.
Not a confirm.
What are you rolling to confirm?
To confirm the fumble. And what is it supposed to be?
Against my touch AC? Yeah, 17.
17, yeah. So, just a misfire. Final attack.
Just going for it. Oh, you're gonna
block the gun? We're gonna see what happens.
We'll see. 1-9.
19 on the...
Yes!
Clutch.
Merry Christmas, Bear.
Damage, too.
17, 21.
33 points of damage against the big guy. 33 points of damage against the big guy.
33 points of damage.
Spring Bane, I'm coming for you.
I don't care if I die in these halls.
The rest of them will finish you off, you bastard.
He is still alive.
No, he's not.
He is.
That's such a funny joke.
I wrote about it in my diary.
It is the dust cloud's turn.
Ah, Ferraz.
That's old Dusty Rhodes.
Don't bring up Dusty Rhodes here.
He's a legend.
He is a legend.
Okay.
I don't like this.
One of them brings out a vacuum.
Just out of curiosity.
Yes.
Are their axes, they have wooden hilts?
I'm not sure.
They're made of pure ice.
This old chestnut?
Yes, yes, they're made of wooden hilts.
Ferraz will cast Repel Wood.
Okay.
Oh, holy shit.
This is your big thing.
This is my domain spell.
Yeah. Oh, Repel Wood. So your big thing. This is my domain spell. Yeah.
Oh, repel wood.
So waves of energy roll forth from you,
moving in the direction that you determine,
causing all objects in the path of the spell to be pushed away from you to the limit of the range.
Wooden objects larger than three inches in diameter
that are fixed firmly are not affected,
but loose objects are.
So basically, they're weapons and they're shields.
And if they choose to hold on to them, they're weapons and they're shields. And if they choose
to hold on to them,
they can be dragged by it.
Yeah, a creature being
dragged by an item
it is carrying
can let go.
And they can
loose a shield
as a move action
and drop it as a free action.
So you can choose
for either of them.
Right.
Up to you.
Otherwise, they get dragged towards the edge of the room.
Right.
And that's it.
That's how that works, huh?
Yep.
Well, that's just crappy.
And let me see what their shields are.
Messer heavy steel shields.
Okay, so that's true.
All right, so they're being pushed with their axes towards the wall.
These two guys here, not the one fighting Pembroke.
Exactly.
And they have the option on their turn of releasing the battle axes.
Yes.
I don't know if it's on their turn.
They might be able to make that decision now.
Let's see.
Yeah, it's on their turn because it's a move action or free action to let it go, depending on what it is.
Gross.
So, yeah, it's going to come as a straight line for me
into the corner of the room.
Now, here's what I'm wondering.
It does say loose objects are.
To me, that's not a held object.
I think that means objects on their person.
It doesn't say a held object.
It says it repels loose objects.
Well, it makes sense.
A creature being dragged by a shield.
But a held weapon is a loose object, I would say, because it's not, like, tethered or tied or strapped.
It's a loose object.
Sure.
So they could release it or not release it.
That's the benefit.
Like, if you were on your person, you'd have to take it off.
But if you're just holding it, you can just drop it and be unaffected.
The weapon, however, still goes.
Loose weapons is the benefit that you have right now.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
When the weapon shafts and halves are pushed back,
dragging, that's fair.
I mean, it is a six-level spell,
so it's got to be pretty badass.
Huge. Huge. Okay.
Let's see what they decide on their turn.
It is Pembroke's turn.
Well, here's the thing.
Oh, no.
On my turn, they start moving.
It goes 40 feet per round.
So that's why I was thinking that.
I think they can make the choice to drop it.
Oh, I see what you mean.
40 feet per round.
Huh.
Objects affected by the spell are repelled.
I mean, I guess you could say they move on their turn.
That's weird.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, it's tough because they would make the decision to use the move or free action on their turn.
So I'm just going to have it take effect on their individual turns.
Because this is all moving in six seconds.
Yeah, because you could always have them move 40 feet, like, right at the start of Feyraz's next turn or whatever.
Right, or just drop the weapon for free.
Or move on their turn.
It is Pembroke's turn.
Pembroke just got hit, got a couple of his images away, and lost his six-level spell.
He is now face-to-face with this horrible creature.
Okay, well, I'm going to move back.
Flies away.
How many images are left now?
Four?
Or three?
Three, I think.
All right.
It goes to swing.
No, four, because you got hit the last time, so the images are all still there.
Four images at Pembroke.
It goes to swing at Pembroke and hits.
I'm 22 or something.
So it's five on a D6.
Oh, wait.
Five on a D6.
Reroll to six.
Yep.
Just an image.
Okay.
All right.
So Pembroke casts
Chain Lightning.
Chain Lightning.
So,
baby,
it's an electrical arc
that passes through
all the targets
and it's,
they all have to be
within 30 feet
of each other,
which they are,
luckily.
Right.
That spell didn't take effect yet, the repulsion.
And so they each have to make a DC-22 reflex save.
Did you hear that passive-aggressive shot at you, Matthew?
Yeah, I heard it.
I was very worried.
I remember thinking, why is Skid slapping his thigh so hard?
Why does he keep giving Matthew the finger off Mike?
I don't understand.
All right, so they each got to roll a reflex save?
Yes.
Okay, this is a pretty heavy-hitting spell.
All right, we're going to say the one that hits you,
he'll roll his reflex save.
Bring him up.
He rolled a 15.
Excuse me, a 13.
Okay.
And then the other guy rolled, made it with an addy 19.
And then the boss guy, his little different failed.
Okay.
Beautiful.
Those who made their save take 22 points of electricity damage.
Those who failed take 43 points of electricity damage.
And her in Spring Spain is dead.
We'll see you next week.
Merry Christmas, everybody.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas, horrifying skeleton head.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
