This week on the Glass Cannon Podcast.
It's just strange that there's nothing out in this outer area,
and there are just these three fire giants crammed into this little hallway.
Yes.
The heroes play with fire.
All right, so a fire giant hand just comes up and grabs Jimmer by the ankles.
And when things start to get too hot...
23 is a miss.
Sorry.
I'm such a terrible character.
Next attack.
They'll have to change their tactics.
If you don't kill him before it comes back to his turn
is when things could get really, really ugly.
Before time runs out.
All right, it is the giant's turn.
The adventure continues.
Come on.
Fail this, dude!
No. Hello everybody, welcome to episode 211 of the Glass Cannon Podcast. I'm Skidmar, and I am so excited about going to my second ever Gen Con.
The first one I ever went to, we all ever went to, was Gen Con 50 a couple of years ago.
I've been wanting to go to a Gen Con literally since I was in fifth grade.
I saw an ad for it in Dragon Magazine.
I told my best friend, Dante Del Nava, I said, we got to go.
And it took a while, but I finally made it.
And we got our second one coming up.
And we're doing a couple of shows there, too, as a matter of fact.
On August 1st and August 3rd, there's still some tickets available.
So jump on that if you want to come by and see us get crazy on stage.
And also super excited about going
to my first ever dragon con and we have a show there too at the masquerade in downtown atlanta
that is on august 31st still tickets available for that as well and then we're going back to
the bootleg theater where it all began at least the road tour part of our shows began and then
we got our first new england show at the
paradise in boston in november can't wait that is my old stomping ground right on com have right by
bu i can't wait to go back so get your tickets while you can and in the meantime let's enjoy
this newest episode of the glass cannon podcast episode 211 it is 10 30 p.m. on a Friday night.
We're about to play some Pathfinder.
Looking out on the skyline of Manhattan.
All those people looking to get banged.
What?
Also, you're looking at the skyline of Harlem.
They don't know where I'm looking.
We can see it out the window.
That's still Manhattan.
If I fully turn, I'll be off mic.
All right, ready?
I think you're...
I'm looking at the skyline of Harlem.
You're implying something that's simply not true.
That's all I'm saying.
I think you're actually looking at Randall's Island, aren't you?
Yeah, that...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You might be looking at Riker's Island.
Everyone wants to get banged tonight that's out.
I thought you were going to go with everyone out in Manhattan wants to be playing Pathfinder and keep it consistent, but no.
It's Friday night in New York.
They want to get to Bang City.
Oh, God.
You know, I've played Pathfinder on Friday nights in New York.
I know.
With us.
Many, many nights.
Many, many nights.
I'm just going to go ahead and roll a percent go ahead And roll a percentile To see how many
Of those people get banged
Yeah
Are you ready
Like above 60
Is more than half
I'm going to say
Yeah let's see
Let's see what we get
When the percentile
Be the 62
62%
Of those people
Are going to have
Sad
You're welcome Manhattan
You're welcome
Wait a minute
Settling
Hold on
Settling
Regretful
4am No hold on Vomitous Hem no hold on vomit he's got to roll another
he's got to roll another d100 to see how many of those are having sad drunk sex
all right let's be realistic of the 62 okay 74 percent
of the 62 wow Man Wow Can you remember
The last time you went out
On a Friday night
That wasn't part of our
Travel schedule
No no
I literally can't
Like I don't
I was thinking about this
The other day
I was like
When's the last time
I went out
And I don't remember
I literally don't
Yeah
I have no
No memory
Yeah
I took
I took Angel out
To a really nice
Sushi place
But that was I think that was a
week but you were home at 8 45 that was a tuesday night and you were home by seven yeah it's funny
like it used to be back when i was first living in new york it used to be like every weekend it
was the marvel guys like it was it was nick lowe and andy schmidt and it was all the marvel
editorial staff we had like a standing date like every Friday, Saturday.
Like we would go out and get super drunk
and see if we could, you know, progress from there.
Right.
That's even going to be part of the 62%.
Right.
For those of you who are wondering,
it is 45.88% of those people are having sad and lonely sex.
Not tonight, Matthew.
It's a special night.
But yeah, that was uh but that that was the
last time that i used to go out consistently yeah i mean i used to go out with nicolo and
you and other people like relatively frequently and now i literally to hang out with nicolo which
is usually like an hour and a half between like when his kids go to sleep and when we fall asleep and i have to plan it like two months in advance like we have to book like right now we're booking
up july right like a single hang yeah yeah yeah those those were the days and then you have kids
on top of it like forget it there's no going out anymore no no no i actually well nor should you
right nor should you i got invited to a barbecue the other day that was a kind of an
inconvenient time and i was just like no i think i'm just gonna work in the garden i'm like what
is what is being in your mid-30s all about what happened to you you know i'd rather just work on
the garden that has actually been my attitude since i was about 16 yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah he's the one that I went out.
I'm making air quotes for about a month and I was like,
yeah,
I could just stay home.
I always end up here anyway.
Just get there early.
When did that turn into the best option?
At some point that turned into the best weekend option.
Just saying,
I mean,
Netflix,
that helps.
Netflix definitely helps.
Yeah.
Yeah. Don't worry. Who am I kidding?
I had Lawton Order SVU marathons.
It was all I needed on a weekend night.
Let's be honest.
We still like to have a good time.
This is more fun than I ever had trying to have more fun.
Right.
If given the option right now of going to the city and getting trash canned,
or sitting here playing a little Pathfinder,
I think we've made our choice there's a thing like back when you know at a certain point in our lives if you've
stayed home and played pathfinder on a weekend night that was a flag of surrender that you're
running off the pole you were just like you know what i suck i'm gonna be a loser but now it's like
this is this is the best possible option. We are envied.
Yeah.
Like the fact among our friends that we can play Pathfinder on a Friday night.
Yeah.
They don't have this much freedom.
I'm so jealous.
Yeah.
And if they're Matthew, we're drinking more heavily than them, most likely.
Matthew really puts them away during these sessions.
Is that a whole glass of vodka?
Yep.
Gin.
Put some ice in it for crying out loud.
It's just warm gin. A point of warm, gin. Put some ice in it for crying out loud. It's just warm gin.
A pint of warm gin.
Warm temperature gin.
You put ice in your gin.
You'll bruise the gin.
You'll bruise the gin.
I really want to taste every juniper leaf possible.
Matthew, we were at Pies O'Connor,
and he was going through his list of beverages,
and he was planning For the night
He says
I might have a white wine spritzer
Maybe a rosé
Yeah
I have a cider
And my girlfriend
Was just like
Oh somebody's single aunt
Is on the loose
Oh is that what she tweeted
About the other day
Oh my god
I've been waiting
The reason that came up
Was because a very nice fan
Gave us a bunch of stuff
From the brewery
He worked at
And one of them
Was a
Was an alcoholic seltzer that Troy and I crushed.
Just crushed.
What was that brewery?
Silver City Brewery.
And that is how that whole thing.
I was like, well, once I finish this, I'm going to have a white wine spritzer.
Yeah, we need to get cases of that shit in the studios.
I didn't have one.
They're dangerous.
I know.
I drank all of them.
You were raving about it. You know what we should do? We should get a case of it and then wait at the finish didn't have one. They're dangerous. I know, I drank all of them. You were raving about it.
You know what we should do?
We should get a case of it
and then wait at the finish line
of the New York City Marathon.
Just hand it to people, right?
Oh!
It's got a little zip,
but it'll get the job done.
You were so happy.
I brought one over drinking it,
and I thought you were going to mock me for it,
and then you drank them relentlessly.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There was a four-pack,
and I had two of them, you had one and then uh somebody else took one but uh they were
great after drinking 800 beers it was a nice change of pace this is the sneaky thing that you don't
know about troy it's a big craft beer guy he likes his finely crafted beer but man will he crush some
mike's hard lemonade oh i have no shame i actually didn't know that i have no shame in a mike's hard it's been a while oh you like limeritas too oh give them to me i had to stop
limeritas because they're very dangerous so angel had a whole scam in college when she would go home
from upstate new york back here to go shopping at costco for like the stock up in between like
breaks or whatever right her dad had no idea what mike's hard lemonade was
so she'd put like two of them on the cart and he would just buy him and she'd take him back
and get everyone in her freshman dorm just cropped when it's 91 out and you're sitting by the pool
oh man sometimes you just need a mike's heart sometimes you need an imperial ipa yeah that's
the last thing you want when it's 91 but you can put away Eight of those And just You're gonna feel terrible anyways
What difference does it make
Now that's a life lesson
I know you're right
Yeah
God
You should learn something
From that
That should be the
I'm flashing
That should be their slogan
Why not
You're gonna feel terrible anyways
That should be
That should be the slogan
You could also abstain
No no that's stupid
Don't be stupid Matthew
Where would I get my flavor
I'm flashing back to when we were driving home
From the time we went up to Cape Cod
And you broke Skid's table
After you stepped on me
Which time
Which table
And you were so hung over
In that car And all you kept doing was
you would moan and i i mean i had been drinking too but not as much as you and you were like
well you just don't feel this way
i was so mad at you for not feeling bad yeah yeah he was angry at matthew's slightly less
hungover there's a picture of me outside like a Cape Cod Duncan's just sitting on the curb eating nine breakfast sandwiches and a Boston cream.
That was the same trip where I observed the creature in his natural habitat.
After he bit into his microwave Duncan sandwich, he just went, I really made it with love.
You can tell.
They make them better back home.
They put care into them.
Wait, I said that or Troy said that?
I said that.
They taste better in Massachusetts.
I bet they put a lot of care into this dungeon.
They sure did.
They were creating it.
Good segue.
I don't think.
Sip, zop, zoop.
I have one more Cape Cod thing about donkeys.
You want to know?
Yeah, I want to know.
Now I do.
So one of the playwrights in my program wrote a play that takes place in the mashpee donkeys are you kidding me i'm not are
we getting royalties for this no she's from she's from cape cod why would we get the royalties because
it's our donkeys man it's our donkeys she brought it she brought in the class see that legal
paperwork grant she brought in the class we read it to see that legal paperwork, Grant. She brought it to class. We read it. It was great.
And then we started talking about it.
And I started to say something.
I was like, I should say before I say anything else, I believe I have been to this Dunkin' Donuts.
That's insane.
That's so funny. More than once.
Wow.
She's like, yes, one time I was driving by and I saw this gross homeless guy sitting on the curb eating nine breakfast sandwiches.
Somebody had given him nine breakfast sandwiches and a Boston cream.
And I thought, I'm going to write a play about this man.
He was chasing Boston creams with Mike's Hard Lemonade at 8 in the morning.
He told me he was the chief executive officer of a successful media venture.
I didn't believe him.
Oh, man.
Now I really want a Mike's.
But we got to, guys, we have to do, we have a dungeon to do here. But we got it. Guys, we have to do.
We have a dungeon to do here. We have a dungeon.
Yeah, we have a dungeon to immediately flee from.
What did you think was inside this cave?
Immediate danger?
Giants.
Giants.
I thought they would be.
It's just strange that there's nothing out in this outer area.
And they're just these three fire giants crammed into this little hallway.
Yes.
Yeah, which concerns me more now, much more.
Because I feel like they were like, we got this.
Like, we're not going to dilly-dally.
We're not going to try to fight something that comes down this corridor.
We're just going to let the portcullis hold and get our reinforcements.
Well, and I walk past the Federal Reserve, like, almost every morning on my way to work.
And it's kind of set up like that.
Like gates in front of the guards.
On Maiden Lane.
Protect the guards.
And then they, exactly.
And it feels like they're set up and ready for something like this, which makes me very sad inside because I don't want to die.
It's like a trap.
Yeah.
No, no.
But it is like those guards, they're not, their job is not to, they see danger, open the gate and shoot it.
Yeah.
It's like their job is radios immediately, right?
It's like they have that protection of the gate for a few seconds to just get the word
out to everybody.
Us three guys will take care of this whole thing.
Like, don't radio anyone.
Right.
We're going to take care of this.
Oh, they're so small.
Clearly, we could crush them in one swing.
Like, yeah, not anymore.
Not these guys.
Not the elite training camp inside the volcano.
That's one of the things you learn as an elite.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's very interesting and something to think about moving forward.
If this is how they do one thing, how they do everything,
and what does it mean for the rest of this dungeon?
Now, here's the thing
the guy that fell into the pit which I
think I really did a great job here
with the pit that I've drawn that's really cool
just a filled in circle
wow it really
draws to life what happened it makes it
an immersive experience yeah I think
I'm excited about it that took five minutes
to do for some reason he should be much
tinier though because he's 60 feet down i guess perspective wise he would be more like a little alter
yelling up from the bottom of the pit
ah visual humor he's worked up a lot of visual gags for tonight's recording. That's really fun. It's actually really good.
Wait, somebody screenshot it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Matthew.
He says get reinforcements.
One giant goes up and pulls a lever on the wall that raises the East Portculis.
The other one starts running to now jump over this pit.
This is terrible.
This is not a gimme for them.
I will say, not by any means.
No, their acrobatics are not great.
Now, you brought up a very interesting thing
about acrobatics and jumping.
If your base speed is over 30 feet,
you get a plus four to your acrobatics
for every 10 feet above 30.
I'm not saying they do.
I'm not saying they don't.
But I factored that in, if they do.
They do.
What would you guess their speed is?
I guess 50 feet.
40.
40?
40 feet.
40?
Okay.
So they should get a plus four at least.
Yeah.
Puss!
If I fail, which is a very, very high percentage chance, I think. If I I fail I get a reflex save to try and
hold on to yeah was it DC 20
I believe it's DC 20 which is harder
than the check to jump across right
this is interesting so
this is a rolling in front of the table kind of moment
so green yeah
definitely is green zone
definitely is it
let me just make sure if
I have to fail by five or more to fall, right?
Yes.
I was trying to make a fire giant sound.
That's a little intense.
If you fail this check by four or less,
so four or less you can attempt to grab.
Five or more you fail.
Okay.
You want to give us the magic number and roll the table?
If I fail by four or less... It's whatever you roll is how many feet you fail. Okay. So... You want to give us the magic number and roll on the table? If I fail by four or less...
It's whatever you roll is how
many feet you traveled. So if
you traveled three feet,
then you just fall into the middle of the pit.
Right. But no, I still get to
roll the reflex save. But if I fail that reflex save...
So basically, if I fail the reflex save
on... If I roll four
or less away and fail that reflex
save, I fall in either way Right
And it's not just any pit
It's a hungry pit
It's a hungry pit
Hungry pit
Every round
It's crunching
Crunching
It might be a little hungry
How hungry is he?
Come on
Fail this dude
I failed
Yes
Holy shit And I failed my five! Holy shit!
And I failed by five or more.
Oh, beautiful.
So he...
Oh, he's going to hurt the other giant when he falls on him.
I don't even get to roll the reflex save, so he just falls into the pit for 66 damage.
Wow.
Would you like to roll it, or should I?
Please.
You have the honor.
You did terrible last time.
Come on.
Pick it up.
25 points. Yes! Nice! There you have the honor. You did terrible last time. Come on, pick it up. 25 points.
Yeah!
Nice!
There you go.
Okay, 25 points of damage,
and I would assume he lands on his friend,
who will also take, we'll say he takes half of that damage.
Beautiful!
I don't know what the actual rule is for him.
Well, it's only 10 feet wide,
so they're definitely landing on each other.
There's no way to dodge that.
There's no room.
They're big guys.
Even though perspective-wise, they look very small.
You shrunk the other guy, too.
But see, he's a little bit bigger.
Because he's on top.
Yeah, sure.
But one is really tiny, and the other one's a little bit bigger,
so he's still falling.
That's great.
Get off of me, you fool!
All right, now it's the one who gave the orders.
It's his turn.
What can I do whilst in a hungry pit?
You can try to climb out of it.
I'd love to do that.
It's a DC 35 climb check.
Is it really?
Hold on, I have to check that.
Oh, wow.
Damn it, Matthew.
I got so excited.
Just make that up.
It's like, where did you make that up?
The ever-shifting walls of the pit are quite difficult to scale and have a climb DC of 35.
Oh, my God!
Now, they're going to have unbelievable strength.
So, like, this is...
It's a good climb, but I can only move a quarter speed.
A quarter speed, yeah.
Or if I double move, a quarter of your double speed.
Right, right.
So, half speed.
Yes, that's another way to put it.
All right.
So, half speed, and I'm 60 feet down. You move an eighth of your quadruple speed. Right, right. So half speed. Yes, that's another way to put it. All right, so half speed and I'm 60 feet down.
You move an eighth
of your quadruple speed.
Right.
There you go.
If you were running
up this side.
Joe really nailed it there.
So using,
and I'm 60 feet down.
I mean, I guess
you're technically like
55 feet down
because you're on top
of your giant buddy.
No, this is the one.
So first he's got to get
past his buddy.
So what does he do?
Does he attack him?
Yes, he shoves his great sword right at his ass.
I'm going to need him to roll a CMB against the other giant
to make sure he can get around him.
He is going to stand up and start climbing.
Okay.
And, I mean, now if I go over the DC, which I did,
do I get any extra progress? Do you guys know that? I don't remember. I think maybe if... No, I don, now if I go over the DC, which I did, do I get any extra progress?
Do you guys know that?
I don't remember.
I think maybe if...
No, I don't think so.
But I'll look it up.
If you fail by four or less, you make no progress.
If you fail by five or more, it means you fall.
But I think...
I think it's just a success hole.
It's just a success hole.
It's like the classic GM gives flavor of how wonderfully...
Okay, so you can try to climb more quickly than normal.
By accepting a minus five penalty, you can move half your speed instead of a quarter of your speed.
Oh, interesting.
Okay.
All right.
I'm going to keep those rules in mind.
Suffice it to say, he starts climbing.
So move action, stand up.
Move action.
Move action just made like a little bit of progress.
He made a full one move action up.
Yeah. That's up. Yeah.
That's huge.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's going to be a new round now.
Things are looking a lot better because of that fail of the acrobatic save.
And you know that fire giants are intelligent.
You've already been told this by the Synod.
Yes.
So for that one to just jump, knowing that it has a shitty jump,
means that it answers to the one in the pit.
Yes.
Definitely.
No question.
It is Dalgrith's turn.
Dalgrith, you know that this cannot be disabled.
You're going to have to break through it if you want to get through.
How am I going to break through a giant forculus?
Can I slip through it?
I mean, are the bars that tight?
Yeah, the bars are tight.
You can see through it. You can't slip through it? I mean, are the bars that tight? Yeah, the bars are tight. You can see through it.
You can't slip through it.
All right.
So first of all, I said it's like a full one-move action.
I'm sorry.
That's stupid.
It's a half of a move action.
It's basically what it gets.
The distance it gets is half of one-move action.
If I take an extra five penalties?
No, no, no.
If you take an extra five penalty next round, it can move like one full move action by doing a double move.
I see.
In this case, he moves one half move action by doing a double move.
Gotcha.
All right.
First, I want to do an ID.
So I want to try to do a proper Fire Giant ID with this guy who's right in front of me, one of the lesser guys.
Okay.
Just, I'll tell you what I want to know if I roll well.
It's going to be Knowledge Local.
Knowledge Local. Thatodge Locke.
That is a 24.
24.
I can give you one bit of useful information.
Okay.
I know they got these great swords.
I want to know what sort of level of damage we're talking about, if there's any, that they output every round to something that is holding onto them.
Like if Dahlgraith grabs on, is there ticking damage, fire damage every round?
Do they give off fire in that way?
Oh, to your knowledge, no.
Okay.
It looks like their hair and their beards are on fire, but it's flavor fire.
If anything, it's not.
But they're not like fire elementals that are on fire all over them at all times.
At least this specimen in front of you. That doesn't mean there aren't other varietals of a
fire giant give that damage but no this one is uh not gonna hurt you to be on it but it can hurt you
in other ways right um all right i i don't i just don't see exactly a way to break this thing down.
Does it seem like...
Give me a minute.
Yeah, I know, I know.
All right, yeah, I'm going to hold on to it.
But I already did a check there, so...
It's all right, it's just a check.
It's just a check.
It's not a standard action until second edition.
Oh, okay.
In that case, I mean, can I ready an action?
Yeah.
What is the action you'd like to ready?
If the gate opens, I would like to move forward and attack the closest giant that I can see.
Okay.
Now, readying an action, I can ready
a move and attack, right? I don't...
I know I can't ready a full attack,
but I can ready a move and attack,
can I? You know, it's interesting.
I think you can. You can't ready full
round actions, but wouldn't that be... Full attack
actions. Full attack actions, yeah. But I
think you can ready a move and attack.
Okay. I see
Grant looking that up, so Grant will look that up in the meantime, and I'll let you retcon if you can't. I'm going to move a move and attack. Okay. I see Grant looking that up.
So Grant will look that up in the meantime, and I'll let you retcon if you can't.
I'm going to move on to Metra.
Okay.
What would you say if I were to, you know, if a giant or someone else were to pull the lever, what kind of action would it be?
Move action?
Standard action.
Standard action.
What would you say if I were to use a spell called Mage Hand To try to pull a lever to Open the portcullis
I'd say that's pretty smart
How strong
Is a Mage Hand
There's a weight right to the items
Up to 5 pounds
So if that lever
Takes more than 5 pounds of torque
Then that's a no
Roll a perception check I can also use the open and close spell If that lever takes more than five pounds of torque, then that's a no.
Roll a perception check.
I can also use the open and close spell, and that can be an object weighing up to 30 pounds or a portal that can be opened or closed.
Roll a quick perception check.
Natty, 19.
Okay.
So, 38. Now, seeing the way that the giant Operated the eastern forculus
You see that there are two levers
And there are two chains
It looks like one thing unlocks
And one thing lifts
It's a two
That's why it's a standard action
Alright
Well then in that case
It's not a bad idea.
I think you could probably do something with Mage Hand.
Well, how about this?
What if I were to use the Quickened Metamagic Rod to cast Mage Hand twice?
You can only do one Quickened action in a round.
One standard action, one Quickened action.
Oh, I see.
And that's it for the round.
Those two things.
And a move action if I wanted, but... Can you enact a Quickened Rod twice in a round? No, I don't have... Oh, you don. And that's it for the round. Those two things. And a move action if I wanted.
Can you enact a quicken rod twice in a round?
No, I don't have to. Oh, you don't need to.
Quicken spell and a regular spell.
Dammit, Joe. Sorry.
But you just never think somebody's gonna quicken a cantrip
and then cast the same cantrip again.
Yeah, that's funny.
Interesting. Unlock and then
pull. One non-magical unattended object weighing up to five pounds.
You point your finger and can lift it and move it at will from a distance.
Yeah, you can do the lever.
You can't do the chain.
Okay.
So...
Unlocking it is a good step.
Maybe you can do this open-close.
Yeah, can you use...
Is it 30 pounds?
Would that do it?
Because then you could quicken Mage Hand and then
cast open close. Ooh, what
is open close? You can open or close your
choice of door, chest, box, window, bag, pouch,
bottle, barrel, or other container.
If anything resists this activity, such as a bar on a
door or a lock on a chest, the spell fails.
In addition, the spell can only open and close things
weighing 30 pounds or less. 30 pounds.
That's really interesting.
I wonder what it weighs.
Well, the porculous weighs far more than 30 pounds.
But it's a lever.
But it's a pulley system.
Just pulling the lever.
Yeah, I'll rule that that works.
All right.
Very cool.
Awesome.
Quicken Metametric Rod made Chan to unlock it and then open, close, pull the chain.
That's awesome.
Amazing.
Yeah.
Wow. Okay. All right. That's awesome. That's amazing. Yeah. Wow.
Okay.
All right.
So that porculous opens up.
No.
Damn.
I tried, Matthew.
That's good.
I appreciate the try.
Okay.
The porculous is now open.
The game has changed.
Wow.
Got an update for you.
Yes.
Give me an update there.
You can ready an action, a move action, a swift action, or a free action.
You can take a five-foot step as part of your readied action,
but only if you don't otherwise move any distance during the round.
Joe doesn't believe me and is currently looking at it himself.
It didn't make sense to me what you just said.
It says a standard action, a move action, a swift action, or a free action.
You get one of those things in that list.
Okay.
So what would you have liked to have read it?
Moving, probably, right?
Geez.
Knowing that, you know, you knew that Metro's goal was to open this.
Well, I mean, I can...
Can I delay if...
I mean, I did that ID, so does that count as using part of my turn?
So then just let me delay.
And now I'll take my action.
That's fine. So you'll move in the initiative
order. Yeah, I'm fine with that. So I'll move in the initiative
order. I will
run in the portcullis, run
past the first giant,
closing on the pit.
Trying to get to the pit.
Very interesting.
I don't know what you're up to,
and I guess we'll find out.
Jimmer, the Porculis, is now open.
There is a fire giant
standing about 25 feet or so away from you.
Okay, so Jimmer, still invisible,
is going to...
Let's see.
One, two, three.
All right, he's going to run up
to this fire giant invisible, and he's going to take a swing as soon as
he gets adjacent to it.
Becoming visible.
This is a flat-footed giant on that first swing.
Oh, come on, Jim!
Swinging with terminus est.
Natty 17.
So close to a crit.
That is a hit.
Wait.
Wait.
Doesn't it crit?
It's keen.
No, it's 18. No, it's 17 to 20 if it's keen. Oh, it't it crit? It's keen. No, it's 18.
No, it's 17 to 20 if it's keen.
Oh, it is.
No, you're right.
That is a potential crit.
You're right.
Oh, my God.
A critical crit.
Critical.
That is a 31 to confirm.
That is a confirmed crit.
Oh, my God.
Let's get a critical.
That's amazing.
This one from Josh in Maryland.
Broken dreams.
You strike your opponent so viciously,
they begin to question their motivation for opposing you.
Double damage.
Oh, my God.
Oh, boy.
Double damage, and the target is panicked for 1d3 rounds.
Oh, shit.
Will save changes the panic condition to shaken.
Wow.
Okay.
Wow.
And what's the Will DC?
It is his confirmation.
So 31.
So, yeah, 31.
So I'm panicked.
Okay, panicked.
Can you just imagine, just out of nowhere, first of all, out of nowhere, a pit appears.
Yeah.
It takes your leader down.
You can't see him.
And then out of nowhere, this incredibly armored humanoid appears in front of you and runs you through.
Damages the shit out of you.
Oh, this is so fucking brutal.
Oh, dude, panic is the worst.
Life's frightened, so I'm shaken.
I have to flee from the source and panic.
I also drop held items, So I drop my great sword.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
That's 59 points of damage from the crit.
So Jimmer runs up and, like, appears at her and surely stabs it right in the stomach.
And it freaks out because, like, what the fuck is going on?
Ah!
We're outmatched!
Oh, God!
That's amazing.
Holy shit.
I forgot to do the hungry, hungry damage.
Oh, yes, hungry, hungry damage.
And does that affect the guy climbing as well?
Yeah.
Oh, God!
Anyone in the pit.
So I rolled very poorly.
It's 14 points of damage.
Oh, that is poorly.
14 to both.
Okay.
Gross. Gross! Not too poorly. Okay. It's 14 points of damage. Oh, that is poorly. 14 to both. Okay. Uh, gross.
Gross.
Not too poorly.
Okay.
Um, it's just... I rolled poorly.
You rolled poorly.
Poorly.
Uh, it is Baron's turn.
Baron sees...
Baron hasn't even gone yet!
Baron sees, from the invisibility, just out of thin air, Jimmer pop out with Terminus'
ass, critically strike this guy, and he just goes,
God damn.
I like this Jimmer.
Baron is currently 40 feet away from this giant.
You like the cut of his, Jimmer?
I love the cut of his.
Well, gross.
So is the giant going to get cover or something? He's really tall, so I'm never quite sure how it works.
With the portcullis up, I'm going to give him, well, because of Jimmer, yeah, as long as there's a body there, he's going to get a little bonus to his AC.
A little bonus AC?
But you're shooting against touch, dude.
I'm shooting against touch, and it's the first.
As long as you have a clean shot, you're going to be fine.
The first time with rabbit shot, I'm taking four attacks.
Oh, yes.
Yes.
And I'd like to give a shout out to Brittany. I held on to Joe's die from last week. Oh, son of a bitch. Oh, yes. Yes. And I'd like to give a shout out to Brittany.
I held on to Joe's die from last week.
Oh, son of a bitch.
He threw away.
Sorry.
I didn't realize I lost.
I hold the die, baby.
You threw it across the fucking room.
Okay.
The first attack is a 27 against Judge.
Yeah.
Resolve that damage.
All right.
Give me one second.
I'm going to call in another die.
Here it comes.
Get ready for the boom town.
Welcome to boom town.
28 points of damage on the first attack.
Oh, my.
All right.
This is after the 59 from Jimmer.
He may not get even a chance to panic.
17 on the die for the second attack.
Is that Brittany again?
That's Brittany again
And you crit on 18 to 29
19 to 29
You know what Barrett says after that one?
It's Brittany, bitch
Oh, that's a pretty good roll
I don't understand the reference
33 points of damage
Third attack
Please don't misfire
I almost did my die
Noemi, Noemi, Noemi damage. Okay. Third attack. Please don't misfire. I almost did my die. I got it ready.
I'm impressing you a lot, dude.
No whammy, no whammy, no whammy.
Ten on the die. The total is
a 21.
Billy T is not my
lover. That was the whammy.
Got it.
21 hit?
Does 21 hit the fire giant
sketch AC?
Yes.
Terrible roll from Baron, so that is only 26 on that one.
And that kills it.
He literally didn't even get a chance to panic!
Out of nowhere, this guy clad in his armor with his impossible sword just runs him through and panics him.
And this guy sits on it and shoots him three times.
And he's dead.
For a moment, you see the panic in his face.
He was fleeing.
He was fleeing.
He was about to drop his sword and blow him away with a gun.
A silent gun.
Lawful neutral, I guess we'll say.
It was silence.
It was like...
That's going to be even more terrifying not knowing what hits you.
At least the sound prepares your body to be...
It's like a total Sam Fisher move.
The rubber foils you would fire and then splinter cell.
Yeah, yeah.
Yes, yeah.
All right, it is the Giants in the pits right it is the giants in the pits turn uh let's start with
the one that uh fell in uh from before he's going to stand up this is the one that fell in second
that tried to make the jump he's going to stand up on his colleague uh on his colleague his
colleagues all right oh is he taking the minus five uh yes yes i'm gonna be taking the minus five across the board for them uh yeah and
he's able to move uh a good chunk uh he moves yeah he moves up to the same place where his boss is
and then his boss no no his boss only moved half of one move action last time unless you wanted to
retroactively take the minus five which which is fine oh i see what you're saying oh yeah that's
what i did okay yeah so they both move they're both at the same place but now it is the lieutenant's turn and he's going
to uh go with the minus five makes it so now he's one move away from coming out okay um and that's
with a double move yeah with a double move he would move one move action yeah one move action
all right so he's still uh yeah he's still because he had to stand up on the first So he's still, yeah, he's still, because he had to stand up on the first round, he's still one move action from coming out.
Yeah.
All right.
And that is their turn.
You guys have a great opportunity here.
It's kind of amazing how you've been able to do this, because this could have gone in such a different direction.
You've completely changed their tactics, as written in the book.
Well done.
Well done.
It is Metra's turn.
Metra will enter the room,
and she will close the Fort Kolas behind them.
Oh.
Not the one where I am,
the one they were trying to get out of.
Oh.
All right, so you're entering the room
and then using those spells again?
I was going to use my standard action
to just go...
Right?
You said it was a standard action to raise...
Right, right, right.
Okay, just to pull one machine.
Okay, I see what you mean.
You've got to move in
closer to where that giant is.
That's where the levers are.
Okay.
But you have the movement speed.
So if you move right past
that giant,
that will put you in a place
to be able to lock
the further portcullis.
Amazing.
Chum, chum, chum, chum, chum.
Wow.
So they can climb out.
All they're waiting for
is Terminus Est
and Baron's gun.
Yeah, yeah.
Baron's just standing
at the top of the pit.
Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.
Now, Baron, you
can still get in because the other Porculous is
wide open, but you are now far
away from that pit. Dalgrith, however,
is about 25, 30 feet away from that
pit. What is your plan there, Dalgrith?
Uh, my
Dalgrith's plan... Oh, Metra, I'm sorry.
Oh, Hungry Pit. Oh, yeah.
Thank you for keeping me honest, Dragon. Oh, howra, I'm sorry. Oh, Hungry Pit. Hungry Pit, yeah. Oh, yeah. Thank you for keeping me on this track.
Oh, how could I forget?
13 points of damage.
Okay.
14 minutes to time.
13 minutes to time.
Three, meow!
What do you got, Big D?
Dalgrath is going to click his heels, go into haste mode, move up to the very edge of the pit.
Okay.
Peer over the side of it and and
oh my god i totally forgot cone of coal
oh i forgot about that i forgot about that so That's great. So, now, this is interesting.
How many roguish, high-level rogue, high-level sneak attack-y characters have you seen doing spell damage like this?
Because there's nothing in the sneak attack wording that I see that says it has to be a weapon or that it has to be a light weapon or anything like that.
It just says if the opponents are denied their dexterity bonus to AC,
which they are when they're climbing, also anyway since I'm invisible.
You are working these rules. I'm just saying if they're unable to defend themselves effectively, a rogue
can strike a vital spot for extra damage.
Now, I'm fine if you don't do it.
I think it's really funny though because
when does that question ever come up?
You never do an enemy spell as a rogue.
Later in the description though it says
with a weapon that deals non-lethal damage
so you could argue that
it would presume
that you would have a weapon.
Unless the character's attack deals extra damage and it's not an attack roll.
But doesn't it later say with a weapon in the description?
Well, a spell is an attack, isn't it?
It doesn't say on an attack roll.
No.
I mean, it's threatening, but it's not an attack.
The rogue's attack.
Well, I'm on the boards here, and it looks like you can.
Do it.
What?
It's very interesting here.
See, the Arcane Trickster is an archetype that gets sneak attack with spells.
But now, do all rogues get that?
That I'm not sure.
This guy says, assuming the rogue meets the qualifications for sneak attacking, they can use a ranged touch spell to sneak attack.
Right, but that's an attack roll.
Yeah, that's an attack roll. Yeah, that's an attack roll.
That's an attack roll.
As for adding sneak attack damage to spells
via Arcane Trickster surprise...
Yeah, so you have to have Arcane Trickster, I think,
to get, I guess, a ranged touch spell,
you would get it.
Yeah.
Because you're trying to pinpoint a location.
Yeah, you're trying to, like,
hit a vital area.
That makes sense.
This is an area of effect spell anyway.
And Arcane Trickster is a prestige class,
not an archetype.
Oh, cool.
Yeah, so maybe
something you could still,
I don't know if you
meet the requirements,
but something to think about.
Oh, I'm sure
Dahlgrave Deathbringer
meets the fucking requirements.
You might need like
a 25 in bluff
or something weird like that.
Well, yeah,
you probably have to have
some ranks in,
well, I do have ranks
in Knowledge Arcana.
Maybe you have to have
some ranks in UMD or something.
It's funny.
This guy is quoting Jason Bowman directly on the Paizo board.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
Good to know.
So, no.
Get out of here with that crap.
Okay.
Well, all right.
Then I'm going to hit both of these guys with a conical.
Yeah.
Do it.
What is the DC of the scythe?
You know, I don't really know because I'm not a spellcaster, but I believe it's really, it makes sense that it's low, right?
Or is it based on the item?
What is the item?
The item usually.
Caster level.
The item.
What is it called?
The Winter Wolf Headband?
The Winter Wolf Headband.
The caster level is seventh.
And it says that it is, well, the DC is 14, a flat 14.
It's DC 16 for half.
I'm reading.
DC 16, okay, great.
So DC 16 reflex for half while you're climbing.
Wow.
Which means you're, I guess you're only denied your dexterity bonus to AC, but.
I would think that it would affect your reflexes.
All right, the lieutenant's going to roll fail.
Yes!
That's huge.
And then the other one is going to roll and made it. Okay. So the other one made it. All right. A hill. Yes! That's huge.
And then the other one is going to roll and made it.
Okay.
So the other one made it.
All right.
Got a lot of die here, Troy.
I should have rolled the other one first.
Got a lot of die here, Troy!
Crap.
Come on.
Oh, God.
Oh, that's no good.
Multiple ones.
Oh, multiple kill ones.
All on D12s.
All right.
It's 21 points of cold damage.
Full.
21 full. Yeah full. 21 full.
Yeah, so 21 full.
Have it for the guy at the bottom.
They both scream as if it did extra damage.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do they fall?
No, no, no.
They just take the damage and they hold on.
They're so strong they can hold on to these hungry walls.
Can I ask you a question?
21, so half damage would be 10.
Yeah, half damage is 10. And then, yeah, okay. Can I ask you a question? 21, so half damage would be 10. Yeah, half damage is 10.
And then, yeah, okay. Can I ask you a question, Troy?
Yes. Maybe this is adding insult to injury.
Please. But when they fell 60 feet,
did they drop their weapons?
And then did they pick them up and sheath
them before they started climbing? Not necessarily. They
held onto them. They were very, very strong.
So they took an extra move action to sheath them before they
started climbing? Uh, no, they're climbing with one
hand. Leave me alone.
Literally, literally the first line.
Wait, wait, wait.
I just saw it.
It was like, you must have both hands.
You need both hands free to climb.
But you may cling to a wall with one hand while you cast a spell
or take some other action that requires only one hand.
Like a greatsword.
Oh, wait a minute.
No, that requires two hands.
All right.
Point taken.
Point taken.
I don't think you're going to get many attacks.
Also, to take an action so you let go for one second.
You don't hold the sword on the side the entire ride.
Yeah, so then going by those rules, they would have had to sheath the sword, and they're around behind.
I would say they're sheathed.
Like, they were not ready for combat when this guy fell in. They would have had to sheath the sword, and they're around behind. No, I would say they're sheathed.
Like, they were not ready for combat when this guy fell in.
So it's probably just in his sheath.
He fell.
It's still in his sheath.
Okay.
All right, great.
No extra action needed, but he will need that extra action to pull it out.
Okay.
Which is what Dalgrith is banking on for when he gets the fuck out of here.
Yeah.
What a cool, cool action there, Dalgrith.
I'm going to give it to Jimmer now uh Jimmer
is just murdered a fire
giant yeah I'm gonna like
I'm gonna double move up
to the edge of the pit okay
visible gonna
wait he's standing there
like holding his shield and Terminus S in the other hand.
He's waiting for these motherfuckers to come up with this, show his head over the lip of this pit.
He can cut it off.
That's what he's waiting for.
Yeah, you've blocked.
With the Porculous on the other side and the two of you there, you've blocked any way for them to come up with that
without it becoming a wrestling match, which it could very well become.
Sure.
any way for them to come up with that at becoming a wrestling match, which it could very
well become. And as Jimmer steps
up, Dog Wraith is definitely
like... We're both
standing there on the wrong side of this thing, though.
So it's like,
be sure we don't let him escape past the outside.
He said, get the food
reinforcements. Oh, hell no. That gate's
closed. They gotta get past us to even open
it. Well, no. The gate
behind them is open. No, it's not. No, because Metro closed it. I spent us to even open it. Well, no. The gate behind them is open. No, no.
Because Metro closed it.
I spent my whole turn closing it.
I'm so sorry. I missed that. So you opened it
and then the next round you closed it. No, I opened the gate for us
to get in. Right. And then the next round you closed
the gate. I closed the back gate.
She went in and physically closed the other gate.
So sorry. Sirens came.
Alright, so Jimmer steps up to the edge there.
Baron, you are up.
Baron just hustles.
He has to move with his chubby little dwarven legs, and he gets adjacent to the giant where
Jimmer just recently stabbed him, and he says, Metro, I'll have you know, my gun is named
Lawbringer.
It's not quite as cool as Terminus Est, but it also has a cool name.
I just wanted to make that clear.
All right, and that's it.
Well spent.
Turn well spent.
Truly noted.
All right, it is the giant's turn.
The one that is one move action away
is going to attempt first to get out.
But with you guys blocking there, a couple things are going to happen.
So I want to roll the climb check first.
You made the climb check.
So in order to get up, you need two hands to start a grapple, right?
No, not necessarily.
That makes sense, but I don't know if it's rules as written.
Yeah, I know if you are grappled, you can't do anything that requires two hands.
But technically, you wouldn't need two hands to start a grapple, necessarily.
So he gets out, he's on the lip?
That's the question.
Well, here's the thing.
Because he would fall as soon as he tried to take both his hands off.
Hey, real quick.
Before you take this action, I thought this was the case and so I read up.
Could you please do another
check against the DC-35?
Because if
you take damage, you have to re-roll
the DC of the slope of the wall.
Oh, each time?
When you take damage, you have to roll
against a DC check. For both of them, they can
automatically make a basic climb check.
Oh, so they're automatically 35.
They automatically make 35.
That's amazing.
When I add the five, there's a chance that they could fail.
When you minus the five, got it.
Okay, great.
But yeah, they automatically make it.
Let me just make sure that that's...
With a great sword in both hands.
Wow, these creatures are awesome.
I'm going to take Panic Duff, that one there.
Wow, these creatures are awesome Panicked off that one there
Actually, looking here, I misspoke
It's not guaranteed
It's a lot easier for the lieutenant
But not for the other one
So I do have to roll
So just on the lesser one
See if he falls
Okay, yeah, I still have to roll for the giant
The other guy, the lieutenant
But it's very, very hard for me to fail.
They both made it.
I'm not going to roll for every time because you just found that rule,
but keep me honest for the rest of it.
All right, so this guy rolled to get out.
Now, I'm just trying to figure out, like, what I'd like to do,
I'm talking to you guys like you're the GM,
is try to grab either Jim or Adalgareth.
And throw them down in the pit.
And, like, pull them down in the pit.
But that's like a grapple with a reposition maneuver, which is two separate actions.
As it is, all I have left is like a standard action here.
Do you want to establish yourself outside of the pit?
That is interesting.
Hold on with one hand, grab with the other.
But then if I need two hands to be climbing, I can't wait until the next round if I have my hand on one of you.
Well, I guess.
No, no, no, no. You can hold on with one hand. You can't physically move up. round if i have my hand on one of you well i guess no no no
you can hold on with one hand you can't physically move up but you can hold on with one and do
actions like a cmb to grab doll great the thing is you're gonna have to get past doll great cmd
i think i think which i'm sure you'll fail on most of the actions that you mentioned though
he won't he won't most of the actions you mentioned entailed a momentary removal of a hand and then a return i don't think many of them were in your
extreme circumstance right but in this casting a casting a quick light spell or think about this
way though in this case he's got one hand on the wall the other hand is on a solitary object so
if that doesn't work that means dalgith automatically falls down with me. Do you know what I mean? Dalgrith basically becomes a
wall.
So I'm going to do that because the only other
option is to climb up and out and
past Dalgrith and Jimmer, which
once again, you'll never beat his
CMD.
It's just not a good idea, and these
guys are willing to die to protect
what is behind this poor Culus.
Yeah, I bet. So he's going to roll up, and he's
going to attempt
to... Shit! On a
shingle! I thought I could get out before...
Grab Dalgrim. I like this move,
LaValley. God.
Oh, shit!
25.
Get the fuck
out of here. This is the death
bringer! Wait, wait, wait Actually that was the wrong guy
No no
I don't think it's gonna make
No
No
That's not good
I didn't get you
Alright
Yeah alright
Dog Wraith deftly dodges out of the way
Excuse me
Excuse me
29
Still fail
Still fail
Natural fucking three
Nice
He like
He gets up to the edge
He's one move from getting out
And he just swipes
Right away at you and misses.
Duh-duh.
The other guy will attempt to get one move action away.
He does so, but again, he's still in the pit.
It's a new round, and it is Metra's turn.
Metra, why don't you start with the hungry pit damage,
and I'll roll those checks to make sure they stay holding.
Fire Giant 1 does.
The lieutenant almost fell.
Oh, no, almost fell, but almost.
If you fail the check, they automatically fall?
No, they stay in place.
If you fail by four or more, five or more, you fall.
Good.
15 points of damage.
Okay.
Pit constricts.
Yeah, crush them.
It's very hungry.
And then I will do...
The way here is blocked, but you guys seem to have it well in hand.
So I'm going to do a magic missile on the lieutenant.
Yeah!
Nice.
And I'll send all the missiles at him.
Okay.
And you don't have line of sight on him.
Are you going to step up to the edge?
Who was the one that's poking up to grab Dalgrith?
It's him, but it's just his arm, and now it's down underneath.
Do you want to step up?
If you step up right behind Jimmer and Dalgrith, I'll say you can get him.
Okay.
I'm still invisible as well, so that is fine.
Okay.
So how many missiles is this?
Five.
Five, right?
Five D4 plus five.
So that is 17 points of damage.
Okay.
I can't believe this guy
hasn't got one attack off.
That's awesome.
He's such a murderer.
I'm so pumped.
Okay.
And then that is my turn.
That is your turn.
All right, so Metra stands up
right behind Dalgrith and Jimmer
who are blocking the escape
from the pit
while Baron stands behind the carcass of the other fire giant. Dalgrith and Jimmer who are blocking the escape from the pit while Baron stands
behind the carcass of the other
fire giant. Dalgrith's turn. Dalgrith
you felt this meaty paw just graze
against your ankle. What do you do?
I don't know
that there is a logical
way here to
get proper
sneak attack. This is a very strange scene.
Jimmer and Dalgrith side by side at this pit.
This guy's hanging onto the edge of it.
How do you get flanking out of that?
You know what I mean?
I don't know.
It seems like an odd situation.
Well, he's denied his...
Oh, you're right.
He's climbing.
Oh, well then, F that.
Yeah.
I'm just going to go ahead and...
Swing away.
Click, click.
And I'm going to keep the haste going and not move.
Sure.
You shouldn't have missed, brother. And he's going to start stabbing, stabbing away. Click, click. I'm going to keep the haste going and not move. Sure. You shouldn't have missed, brother.
And he's going to start stabbing away.
All right.
So the first attack, this is with his plus one giant bane fire forged steel short sword.
Oh, I have some fire forged.
Is a 34 to hit.
That's a hit.
Okay.
So I am going to try something here. He's a hit. Okay, so I am going to try
something here. He's going to
stab him. He's going to
deal
nine points
of damage. Okay.
And then I'm going to forego the bonus
sneak attack damage to
as a swift action
try to, this is one
dog race thing Things try to
Kick some of the
Like I mean
Is there like kind of like dirt gristle
Whatever sure kick dirt
And gristle into his face
To blind him for a round
Oh yeah
Your hasted actions
Well no it's just I have this ability
Where it's it's part of the It. I have this ability where it's part of the...
It's called Underfoot Trickster.
It's part of the...
If I get bonus sneak attack damage,
I can choose to forego the bonus sneak attack damage
to attempt a dirty trick combat maneuver
as a swift action.
Wow.
So he's just going to try to kick shit into his eyes.
Do you have to beat my CMD?
I have to beat your CMD.
Okay. But I have an incredibly high... I have to beat your CMD. Okay.
But I have an incredibly high...
I've never had a CMD this high on a character.
He's all built for this.
In all the fame and wonderful stories about Dalgrith around the realm that he's known as a dirty trickster,
do you think he always fights with honor in the stories?
No, no, no.
He never fights with honor.
And people love it.
Yeah, because he's not fighting enemies of the state.
He's fighting monsters most of the time.
But Grant is saying, are the stories that they just say,
and Dalgreath bravely faced forth and called his opponent out,
or that's what the stories are,
and then you in reality are doing this dirty stuff?
No, I think the stories include some of the just getting,
no, I'm saying just getting the job done.
It's like no questions asked sort of territory.
Your fans are like Green Bay Packer fans.
Right.
These hardworking Midwesterners.
All right.
Anyway, let me roll this real quick.
It might be a fail, but it's, oh, okay.
That is a 31.
That's a fail.
Fail.
Okay.
So, but I can continue attacking. But did you do any damage whatsoever? I did nine points of damage. Nine points a fail. Fail. Okay. But I can continue attacking.
Did you do any damage whatsoever?
I did nine points of damage.
Nine points of damage.
Okay.
So second attack is, I would assume, a miss at 20.
Denied his dexterity bonus to Asic.
Sure.
I got that.
Yeah, that's still a miss.
And then third attack.
Come on, Joe.
Natural one.
And it's my worst attack.
Confirm that bubble for the fans. Please don't confirm this. Not for me. natural one and it's my and it's my worst attack yay confirm that fumble
for the fans
please don't confirm this
not for me
do it for the fans
please
please don't confirm this
literally
could not have made it
oh I confirmed it
I confirmed the
fucking fumble
so I ended up doing
I could have done
50 points of damage
you'd be like
overcompensate
you'd fall forward
5 feet
oh that'd be amazing I don't know he'd maybe knock 50 points of damage. You overcompensate. You fall forward five feet.
That would be amazing.
I don't think he'd maybe knock one of the giants loose.
Temple of Doom style coming down.
You were like Rob Lowe in St. Elmo's Fire,
and then now you're like Rob Lowe right after St. Elmo's Fire. Literally, we were shooting fish in a barrel.
You four went.
Your sneak attack, your massive sneak attack damage.
And instead missed and missed and fell.
I know.
Anything more on brand.
Yeah, he tries to kick some dirt in this.
How cool would it have been if he was blinded?
Come on.
That would have been amazing.
It was a cool idea.
It saved everybody.
I've read dirty trick combat maneuvers a thousand times.
I'm like, no one ever does these.
Yeah, yeah.
So, all right.
All right, Kurt. Let's see what you have in store. Kurt from middle of nowhere, South Carolina. a thousand times I'm like no one ever does these yeah yeah so uh alright uh alright Kurt
let's see what you have in store
Kurt from middle of nowhere
South Carolina
you slipped and clipped
oh no
this is long
I don't like
as you went to unleash your strike
you slipped on a stone
below your foot
get out of here
in an effort to balance your footing
you threw out your left hand
or right hand
blah blah blah
uh and cut
pulverized one of your fingers.
You take half
normal damage. 1d4
bleed and your finger is hanging by a thread.
Oh my god.
You cannot use that hand in combat
until you either receive magical healing, blah blah blah
or spend a full round of action
to bandage the wound. I mean, it's his left hand.
Well, no, he won't be able to climb on a creature until he gets that shit taken care of.
And you don't take sneak attack damage.
It's just normal.
Yeah, not to myself.
Half of normal.
Half of normal damage.
Which is going to be solo of max.
So five points of damage.
And your finger is dangling.
And my finger is dangling by a thread.
Ring of old.
GM's discretion as to how easily the finger is reattached without the assistance of magical healing.
Thank you for throwing that line in.
Oh, damn!
You slipped and clipped.
So he tries to kick this thing into the guy's face, and he ends up slipping and cutting his own finger open.
I think that finger ended up in the bottom of the hungry pit.
Oh, dear.
Delgreath the nine-fingered!
This is only going to make the story better.
Jimmer, you are up.
You've got this guy.
He's within reach of you because you're standing right next to Dalgrith.
And then the other guy, as you can see, is about a move action away from being right up in your business.
Jimmer is going to go ahead and unleash on this lieutenant, this stronger version of whatever this is.
Release the beast.
He is going to do a full attack,
like hammering down on his head.
Oh, God.
First attack is a 29 to hit.
That'll hit, yep.
This guy is flat-footed and garbage.
That is 28 points of damage.
First attack, second attack.
That is a 30 to hit.
30 hits.
Uh, and that is 29 points of damage for the second attack.
Okay.
Third attack.
Here we go.
Here we go.
19.
19 misses.
Okay.
Clang off his helmet.
Off his fire beam.
Really?
I mean, you see him just kind of like holding on for his life.
Did you roll to stay climbing?
Yeah, he has to roll again.
DC 35.
Three rolls.
Twice above hits?
Because the third hit missed.
Oh, okay.
Third hit missed, so I have to roll two.
Oh, boy.
This is how I like to give disadvantage.
I mean, if you fall on the first one, you avoid the second damage.
Yeah, wouldn't Jimmer just be hacking his hand?
Yeah, DC 35, but if I roll below 30, I fall.
Right.
Right.
Okay.
If you roll just 30.
Made the first one.
Okay.
This guy's a tough customer.
Ah, I failed on the second one.
Yeah!
Oh, my God!
He's going to drop.
And I dropped 60 feet.
I only have six hit points left.
Yeah!
Does he hit his friend on the way down?
He is a giant.
He is a giant.
I roll a percentile, but the giant's going to hold on for dear life.
Okay, yeah, I made it.
And the giant is just holding there as he watches his lieutenant die in front of him.
So, like, Jimmer, like, as his, like, hand is, like, clutching the edge of the pit,
Jimmer cuts it off.
Oh!
And he falls, like, down into the pit.
I got a plus 23 to climb for that guy.
Oh, wow.
So it certainly wasn't a gimme.
I said it was a gimme before.
It's not a gimme for a DC-35, but it's almost impossible for him to fall.
Yeah, right.
It's hard.
Jeep, of course.
Nice.
I rolled a four.
Oh, beautiful, Jimmer. All right, so Jimmer effectively murders that one. Baron, right. Of course, I rolled a four. Oh, beautiful!
Alright, so Jimmer effectively murders
that one. Baron, you're up. There is
one giant remaining as far as you
can see. But below his
eyesight for sure and with three of
his party members in front of him. So Baron just
does a little dwarf
shuffle right up behind Metra.
That's all of his move actions. Double move,
his turn's done. You can see these hallways were built specifically
so that the Giants can only move one at a time here,
and it clogs the hallway for you to be able to get up
and finish this guy off.
It is that guy's turn.
He has to know things aren't good here.
Does he want to just stay in the pit?
I probably just...
You know what? Just close it up. Yeah. You know what? Let's close it up.
Do you guys know how the locks work?
Just finish me off and then
go ahead. How hungry is this thing?
Can I just start a new life down here?
Rolls the climb check, makes it,
gets up to the edge and tries
to grab Jimmer.
Tempts to grab Jimmer. Come on, Jimbo.
Switch to the right guy here all right it's
really rolling around there 33 against
CMD that is that is it that is a
success all right so a fire giant hand
just comes up and grabs Jimmer by the
ankle now they're both grappled but
that's the end of his turn.
If you don't kill him before it comes back to his turn is when things could get really, really ugly as he attempts to reposition Jimmer into the pit.
It's a new round.
It's Metra's turn.
Okay.
Here's what I would like to do.
Oh, always.
Always with you.
Can't you ever just shoot a crossbow?
Be done with the round?
I would like to...
Let me just read the text here.
Swing on the star.
Carry moonbeams.
Home in a jar.
We're in darkness, right?
Yes.
Yes.
Okay.
Oh, shit.
You know what?
They don't have dark vision.
You guys don't have dark vision.
Yes, we do.
We do. All of you? All of us have dark vision. guys don't have dark vision Yes we do We do All of you
All of us have dark vision
Do you remember dark vision
Yes
You've got goggles
Goggles
Okay
Do they have dark vision
Don't worry about it
Joe had a whole thing about this
Here's what I would like to
Who's off air
I would
Hold on
Let me just explore an alternate option Just just in case that gets too dangerous.
Here are the things I would like to try, Troy.
So I'm going to grab Jimmer, and I'm going to Dimension Door us back to the other side of the hole.
Oh, wow.
Does that pull him free of the grapple?
Well, do you want to Dimension Door him, what, back into the pit area?
Just back 50 feet.
Back 50 feet.
Now, let's just take a quick peek at dimension door.
Maybe 30 feet.
All right, whatever.
Back to the other portals.
I don't care about how far you want to move.
You and touched objects or other touched willing creatures.
You instantly transfer yourself.
Motherfucker. self motherfucker i don't i don't see anything in here that contradicts this i know that we had this issue before and we didn't do it correctly um when in the wicker man fight
um oh but that was like trying to cast it while grappled in which case pembroke was in the cage
yeah when he casted it right so he right he was considered quote-unquote in which case Pembroke was in the cage yeah when he casted it right so he
was considered quote unquote grappled in this case
you're not grappled you don't have to roll any
concentration you're just touching Jimmer
who's obviously willing I'm grabbing his arm
let's go let's go
I don't see anything here that says
I really want
there to be something here
but yeah I don't
I just don't see anything.
Dogwraith has it 100% under control.
Nothing to worry about.
This is the closest you've ever been.
This is exactly being an umbral escort.
You're taking someone through the shadows
and taking them to safety.
Yeah.
I was thinking about doing shadow art,
but that's a little risky,
especially if you can get shunted around.
Just try that one.
So Metro will reach out And grab Jimmer's arm
And be like
Let's go
And she'll just be like
And then a puff
A puff of like a shadow
A whisk of shadow
Bamf
Bamf
And will just appear
Back by the other portcullis
Smells like brimstone in here
Yeah
Yeah
In the exact same
Orientation
I wasn't listening
I'm still looking for ways
To try and contradict
It was really cool.
I got down a wormhole here, though, on EN
World of people being like, it's really GM's
decision. Like, is all of a sudden
Jimmer being considered an attended
object by the giant?
In which case, you're trying to take away
his, you know. Most people are like, yeah, no,
it's fine. You got us. Oh, he's
like an attended object, in which case, I have to roll
like a... To try and, yeah. I will say that i would never mention during his sort of way i would say that
i would never presume i think you'd appreciate this i would never presume to cite en world
as a reason for doing something i want to do that isn't on the paizo boards right right because
you're generally talking about 3.5 not 3.75 that's true but i would think something like
this has never been clarified through the addition changes.
Isn't that amazing?
Yeah.
How many times
do we find things
that have never been clarified?
There's so much.
Also, we just don't find them
sometimes and they are clarified.
That being said,
we've heard directly
from a certain
Jason Bowman about that.
One thing I need to do is,
actually two things
I need to do.
One,
We should call him right now
and ask him.
Hold on one second.
Make the lieutenant really small again and put an x over him now
oh look at that tiny ass get another screenshot of that
oh man uh all right good good turn metro you son of a bitch uh and it is now uh dalgryth's turn
dalgryth you have a chance here dalgryth's turn. Dalgryth, you have a chance here.
Dalgryth has a great chance here.
You're right next to this thing.
Yeah, and staying hasted, he's going to...
Kick some dirt in his eyes?
Yeah, he's going to not get fancy this time.
Kick him in your own eyes?
Watching the way Jimmer just sliced that dude's hand off.
He's like, maybe go with the straightforward method.
And he's going to try to take advantage of this guy's...
Advantage.
Advantage of his lack of disparity bonus to his AC.
Ah, yes.
So, yes, you've left yourself open.
And let's see if you get not rolling natural one.
Fucking shit balls.
That is the 96 disparity bonus to AC.
That's a 23.
All right.
Let me turn off grapple, but put flat footed on.
23 is a miss.
Sorry.
I'm such a terrible character.
Next attack.
Another fucking miss.
Another fucking miss.
I can't believe this shit.
Well, I'm also rolling terribly.
Don't blame your character for this, Joe.
I know.
I know.
Poor Dalgrith. All of a sudden, Joe. Last attack. Come on. Come on, natural 20. rolling terribly uh and then don't blame your character for this joe yeah i know i know poor
dog great all of a sudden last attack come on come on natural 20 come on another natural four that
was six four four six four four joe slammed the table so hard my my d20 popped out of my dice box
and like flew on the top of my computer what What did it land on? It was like right here.
What number?
Oh, 14.
Damn it!
Way better than anything you rolled. I needed that.
That's like the total of what Joe rolled.
That's how you should roll your dice, Joe.
Just slam the table and see what happens.
Three chances to get one good hit, man.
Well, here's the best thing about Metro pulling Jimmer out of the way.
It now leaves a very open passageway for Baron to move up and take one big shot.
And I'm assuming with that leading role,
that leading phrase that you gave me,
that I cannot shoot from where I am.
His hand is not visible.
I need to get to where Jimmer was.
Yes, that is why I clarified.
Baron will stride directly up to the edge of the pit.
Looking straight down.
Looking straight down and say,
let me introduce you to Lobbringer.
Oh, yeah.
This is for Aubrey, motherfucker.
Dodge this. Natural, yeah. This is for Abria, motherfucker. Dodge this.
Natural fucking 20. Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
Wow. Thank you, Brittany.
Brittany! Brittany!
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Now you see Troy there is a real character.
And I can't provoke because I'm flat-footed.
It doesn't provoke because I'm flat-footed. It doesn't provoke because I'm flat-footed.
Natural 17 on the confirm.
Brittany, you are crushing it.
That now belongs to Grant Jones.
I'm sorry.
So that is going to go to a fan.
That's going to go to a fan.
Critical.
Unbelievable.
Okay.
You opened both hands.
Here we go.
This one from Nick Maselli in Philadelphia.
Hey, Nick Maselli. Hey, what's going on,
mama? I'll try to read this in a Philly
accent. Angela!
Alright, yo.
Yo, you shot those three times
damage. Oh my god!
That's four. Five.
Five times damage. Oh no, you're
right. That's...
Double damages. Hold on, hold on. Triple right. Yes. All right. So he just shocked himself out of the Philly accent. Double damages for triple damages.
Over zealous assault.
Over zealous.
Five times damage.
Half normal damage to yourself.
Okay.
Fortitude save negates half damage.
Oh, wow.
So it's a really powerful blast.
Yes.
Over zealous assault.
Your greed for hunting your target causes you to unleash truly devastating attack.
However, your weapon grazes you in the process. Your greed for hunting your target causes you to unleash truly devastating attack.
However, your weapon grazes you in the process.
Your gun kicks back into your face.
That's awesome.
Yes.
That is so cool.
What's the DC of the Fortitude save?
The DC is his AC.
It's my AC.
Okay, so roll Fortitude save.
What am I?
Well, I'll roll it, I guess.
Come on, Brittany. Don't let me down.
Yes. Yes, you should. Oh, no. Iitude Save. What am I? Well, I'll roll it, I guess. Come on, Brittany, don't let me down. Yes, yes, sure.
Oh, no.
I recommend rolling.
22.
Ooh, you're going to take half damage from this massive attack?
All right, so.
Have normal damage.
No, have normal damage.
Have normal damage.
Okay, so don't add your giant bonus.
So.
If you had cast Enlarged Person, though, I would have considered it.
So we're talking.
Do you take on the giant subtype
winning line yeah in my head we're talking 5d8 oh god plus do i double yeah i double the bane right
you quadruple quadruple no no no you don't double the bane at all bane stays same 2d6
and then you quadruple the bonus down on okay uh not great there
But
Let me just get my
Long form abacus out
Real quickly
I'm far more interested
In how much damage you take
Alright
There are two things here
The damage you're doing
And the damage you're taking
I prefer the damage you're taking
Alright so
Baron will start off
With damage to himself
Luckily I'm not giant Because my weapon is giant's pain.
And this is the same damage that's happening to the giant.
All right.
So we'll say one of the die that I rolled with a die roller online was two.
Does that make sense?
I rolled five die, yes.
Okay.
So I took 19 points of damage for myself.
Okay, not bad.
Now for the total that is done to this giant
who has been given a very rude introduction to Lawbringer
is 131 points of damage.
Oh, shit.
And you only took 19?
One attack roll against myself, right?
Half.
And half.
Half a crit.
No, no, it's not a half.
It's half normal damage.
Oh, so half of that?
So I actually only take nine points of damage.
Jeepers.
That thing's blown to oblivion.
Yeah!
Yeah!
I mean, its head explodes like a David Cronenberg film.
Splattering the lieutenant below, just like a rain of guts and gore.
And the recoil of your gun, like, shoots it into your face.
It's so strong.
I can't even
begin to tell you
all the fun things that these guys had planned
for you and you handled it
extremely well. And by the way,
all told,
I could be wrong. We should go around the table.
I think the only
damage the party took, we did to ourselves.
Yes, I think you're right.
In the combat. That is 100%
true. Yeah, yeah.
I grappled one of you for a
second. The only damage
you took was to yourselves.
Oh my god. You came in here
expecting giant guards. You found
the giant guards, but they were in a very thin
hallway with two different
porculuses on either side.
When they realized that you were there,
the lieutenant
sent one of his men to try and get reinforcements
beyond.
We'll see you next week.
No!
Couldn't quite get there, buddy!
Couldn't quite get there.
Self-inflicted
damage all night.
Look at the three dead bodies of the exes.
So awesome.
Different sizes.
